"We're talking about trends in design and house plans in Oklahoma, and we kind of walked through the decades without protecting 19 seventies. What was happening in the 19 seventies with a little bit larger homes. Almost all new homes had Two bathrooms. Two car garage in the garages were pretty big back then. I mean not unusual to have a 24 by 24 garage. And nowadays if you get 19 by 20 year, good for I mean, It's we have very small garages now. Remember seeing like you had a formal living in the front. Family living in the back one hallway that would have three bedrooms that was sixties. That was the sixties. Now the seventies It was more into one big room. Mm. And it had vaulted ceiling, So it felt they called it a great room back then. And if it felt so much bigger because it had the big vaulted ceiling in vaulted being sloped on one side, okay and vaulted up to a very high and lots of Uh, clear story windows. They would call them which is at the very top of the peak on the flat side of the room. You would have Windows that would bring light in and they would bring light in But they never got cleaned because they were like, uh, 18 or 18 ft in the air, So that was hard, uh, to maintain. But the kitchen there was a big great room is kind of the change in the seventies, and you almost always had the utility room inside the house, whereas In the fifties. It was almost never in the house. The sixties it started becoming inside the house, part of them, but most of the time you started your washing dryer in the garage. Uh, but in the seventies had inside utility rooms. Then when you got into the eighties Uh, It was the era of and why? I don't know. No one used them, but they had formal dining rooms. That were open to the living room but separated by fences. They would have these little less than half wall there were shorter, but Kind of the little Post. That were like you would see the half wall to the ceiling. Right? Well now, I mean, these were lower that would go from the half down. Yeah, it was all open except for the areas were separated by These little fence walls, and some of you still live in those houses, and but that's kind of it. But in the eighties, the master bathroom got big and the master closets got even bigger seventies they had Bigger closets almost always have a walk in closet in the seventies in the master. Uh, In the eighties, usually had to walk in closets in the master. You had a tub and you had to step in shower and to vanity sinks. So the eighties the master got a lot Bigger more. Important Then. Uh, the secondary bedrooms and bathrooms are kind of small. Um Then in the nineties. The nineties. Changed a lot. You started having 10 ft ceilings in The living part of the home the entry living room kitchen. And formal dining if there was a formal dining and they're mostly always was in the nineties. And so you have the tall ceilings. With a transom windows above doors, and sometimes you would have full windows almost Florida ceiling that looked when you walk in the house you could see to the backyard. That was the nineties. Uh The nineties they started Uh, Making the bathroom. The master bathroom so large that if you look at the footprint of the home, it was at least as big as the master bedroom. The master bathroom. And sometimes the closet area combined with that was bigger than the master bedroom. And the master often had a what I call a coffered ceiling, which is a sloped it would have an eight FT plate line Top flight line. On the exterior of the home in the bedroom areas, But in the master, they would slope that up with the roof, too. Added extra foot or two to make it a taller ceiling without having to raise that plate line outside, raising that plate lines expensive. Because it anytime you go over eight ft, tall on brick on the outside, it cost you at least 1.5 times. As much for the bricklayer. The brick costs the same materials cost the same. But you're bricklayer doesn't like to climb up on scaffolding. The library? Yeah, So, uh, so they were able, like we're kind of Creative in how they kept the cost down like that, so you can keep your brickwork under scaffolding hive, and that's a tremendous savings ever thought about that. And then, uh, so the eighties we had a lot of cathedral ceilings to instead of the vaulted ceiling, which was just sloped up One side It would be the cathedral ceiling and some beams started coming in. In the eighties and nineties. It was you didn't get so much of that. It was more of a flat ceiling, but they were taller. So in the nineties, the big bathrooms Uh, utility room started being more important. So you you got a little counter space, and sometimes it seems sometimes utility seeing? Yeah. In the utility room. Yeah, your fancy pants when you got utility sink, cabinetry and utility room, But the utility room in the nineties was a little bit more of a hallway. From the garage to the house. Uh, there were still tall houses. And by the way, tall houses being Uh, we called him a tall house. You built the house up about a foot above grade level. And the perimeter. Even though she plays the sport, I have proven I have the least amount of skill in. Amy is a golfer for Paradise Valley Community College, and she will be playing in the National Junior College Athletic Association National Championships next month in Florida. What's so him through racial about that? Yes, Jim. Why? I mean, you'd expect there isn't a college teams to play for golf championships. Right? But what you might not expect is a golf team member like Amy Bacher Stead. When the 22 year old takes to the course on May 10th at the Plantation Bay Golf and Country Club in Ormond Beach, Florida She will be the first athlete with down syndrome to compete in a national collegiate athletic championship. This is not her 1st 1st. However, Amy was the first person with down syndrome in the U. S. To earn a college athletic scholarship. You might have something to the fact that she became a viral sensation when she played the 16th hole at the TPC and Scottsdale with Gary Woodland right before the 2019 Phoenix Open. She hit into the bunker on the par three Stadium hall and got up and down for par, telling everyone I got this before sinking an eight ft putt. She and her family then created the I got this foundation to provide golf instruction and playing opportunities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. It sounds like she could be giving golf instruction to me a lot of other people that don't have intellectual or developmental disabilities, And for that reason she is a heck of an inspiration. "That will hurt Citrus faster than anything. So make sure that maybe you get a little bit of the decomposed granite or the expanded shale and you work that into the soil. You want to do whatever trick you can pull to make sure that the soil drains really, really well around the plant, and it should establish itself pretty easily. You know your lemon Um You were lemon can stay. In its container. For years and years and years and still produce lemons. Now it will get big. So that gets to be a bit of an issue. But It will do great in the container if you want to put it in the ground. Olsen. Protection from the north and the best drainage. You can work into the soil to give it to it, and it should do just fine. Los Angeles County Close To Moving Into Red Tier
"We'll start making your plans only county is on track to reopen Jim's movie theaters and restaurant dining rooms as early as Monday. KCRW's Tara A tree on has more what to know about the move into the less restrictive red tier of the state's re opening framework, health officials say. L. A county will move into the red tear sometime between Monday morning and Wednesday. Once l A moves on down, you'll be able to eat, lift weights, do yoga and admire artwork inside. But there's lots of rules and guidelines. Museums, zoos and movie theaters can reopen a 25% capacity. Gyms are back, but on Lee at 10% capacity, and everyone must mask up. Restaurants must also stay at 25% capacity have proper ventilation. Put eight ft between tables and seats. Only one household per table If indoors now, mall stores in salons, which were already open can operate at half capacity. And there's good news for older students. Schools are a letter students. Schools are allowed to reopen for seven through 12th graders.
