"Bigger, bigger hole. Should I put For a four or four. Post. Okay? As far as the depth of your whole since you're going up eight ft with it, Uh, you're going to want to have your fence posts 3 to 4 ft. Down. Uh, and the main reason for that the soils you know when they dry out shrink, and if you don't have that post far enough in the ground, it's going to become wobbly on you, and that's what happened to me before she started leaning slightly after about four years. Yep. Yes. So go down 34 ft with it. That doesn't necessarily mean the post itself has to go all the way down. So here's the trick. You you, you put a hole that's 6 to 8 inches in diameter. You can put dry concrete in the bottom. And then start filling. Put your post in. And start filling the hole. With the dry concrete, packing it with the end of a shovel as you're coming up, keeping your post level. And by the time you get to the top of the post is nice and solid where you can start building on it right away. Moisture from the soil will soak into the concrete and set it up. And that will take care of all all the problems. I would not put more than, say, 12 inches of concrete in the bottom to set your post on the Okay, That was going to be my next question. So if I have a four ft hole Um How much would should be in the home? Three Ft. 3 Ft. Yeah. So you, uh, you know, basically get a 12 ft Post. Yeah. You're going to want to run your since you gonna put a cap on top. You're going to watch your post to run all the way to the top since you got something that attach the cap, too. Okay. Then you can put 3 to 4 ft. Of that post in the ground that will leave you the eight ft.

"We're talking about trends in design and house plans in Oklahoma, and we kind of walked through the decades without protecting 19 seventies. What was happening in the 19 seventies with a little bit larger homes. Almost all new homes had Two bathrooms. Two car garage in the garages were pretty big back then. I mean not unusual to have a 24 by 24 garage. And nowadays if you get 19 by 20 year, good for I mean, It's we have very small garages now. Remember seeing like you had a formal living in the front. Family living in the back one hallway that would have three bedrooms that was sixties. That was the sixties. Now the seventies It was more into one big room. Mm. And it had vaulted ceiling, So it felt they called it a great room back then. And if it felt so much bigger because it had the big vaulted ceiling in vaulted being sloped on one side, okay and vaulted up to a very high and lots of Uh, clear story windows. They would call them which is at the very top of the peak on the flat side of the room. You would have Windows that would bring light in and they would bring light in But they never got cleaned because they were like, uh, 18 or 18 ft in the air, So that was hard, uh, to maintain. But the kitchen there was a big great room is kind of the change in the seventies, and you almost always had the utility room inside the house, whereas In the fifties. It was almost never in the house. The sixties it started becoming inside the house, part of them, but most of the time you started your washing dryer in the garage. Uh, but in the seventies had inside utility rooms. Then when you got into the eighties Uh, It was the era of and why? I don't know. No one used them, but they had formal dining rooms. That were open to the living room but separated by fences. They would have these little less than half wall there were shorter, but Kind of the little Post. That were like you would see the half wall to the ceiling. Right? Well now, I mean, these were lower that would go from the half down. Yeah, it was all open except for the areas were separated by These little fence walls, and some of you still live in those houses, and but that's kind of it. But in the eighties, the master bathroom got big and the master closets got even bigger seventies they had Bigger closets almost always have a walk in closet in the seventies in the master. Uh, In the eighties, usually had to walk in closets in the master. You had a tub and you had to step in shower and to vanity sinks. So the eighties the master got a lot Bigger more. Important Then. Uh, the secondary bedrooms and bathrooms are kind of small. Um Then in the nineties. The nineties. Changed a lot. You started having 10 ft ceilings in The living part of the home the entry living room kitchen. And formal dining if there was a formal dining and they're mostly always was in the nineties. And so you have the tall ceilings. With a transom windows above doors, and sometimes you would have full windows almost Florida ceiling that looked when you walk in the house you could see to the backyard. That was the nineties. Uh The nineties they started Uh, Making the bathroom. The master bathroom so large that if you look at the footprint of the home, it was at least as big as the master bedroom. The master bathroom. And sometimes the closet area combined with that was bigger than the master bedroom. And the master often had a what I call a coffered ceiling, which is a sloped it would have an eight FT plate line Top flight line. On the exterior of the home in the bedroom areas, But in the master, they would slope that up with the roof, too. Added extra foot or two to make it a taller ceiling without having to raise that plate line outside, raising that plate lines expensive. Because it anytime you go over eight ft, tall on brick on the outside, it cost you at least 1.5 times. As much for the bricklayer. The brick costs the same materials cost the same. But you're bricklayer doesn't like to climb up on scaffolding. The library? Yeah, So, uh, so they were able, like we're kind of Creative in how they kept the cost down like that, so you can keep your brickwork under scaffolding hive, and that's a tremendous savings ever thought about that. And then, uh, so the eighties we had a lot of cathedral ceilings to instead of the vaulted ceiling, which was just sloped up One side It would be the cathedral ceiling and some beams started coming in. In the eighties and nineties. It was you didn't get so much of that. It was more of a flat ceiling, but they were taller. So in the nineties, the big bathrooms Uh, utility room started being more important. So you you got a little counter space, and sometimes it seems sometimes utility seeing? Yeah. In the utility room. Yeah, your fancy pants when you got utility sink, cabinetry and utility room, But the utility room in the nineties was a little bit more of a hallway. From the garage to the house. Rather than a room, so Uh, the nineties. A lot of things changed floor plan wise, so Then you get into. I mean, that's the nineties and then the two thousands were whole lot like the nineties. Uh, there were still tall houses. And by the way, tall houses being Uh, we called him a tall house. You built the house up about a foot above grade level. And the perimeter. Heating and air conditioning that goes under the ground was made of PVC instead of galvanized metal or trans I So that was Tend to last over the decades so that the perimeter heating, which is he's more efficient to operate. Yeah, because it's underground instead of in a hot attic or cold addict. Of So, but most of the houses In the two thousands. You found almost all houses being built with overhead heating air up flow. We call it the supply flows up from the unit and is dispersed from the ceiling. And that is, uh Gives a lot more flexibility on where your furniture placement is because You don't have to accommodate for the Vince in the floor. Well. When we come back, we'll be talking about the trends that are happening now and what we see. And where do we see it going to and taking your calls? So we'll be back with more on Oklahoma. "When you take our wet season away from our desert here, it affects everything. And it's not just not just the queen's, but even the iron woods, you know, And so it's. It's been a tough summer for a lot of plants, but especially bad for Queens. We'll come out and see if we can show you some mules and Bismarck is and other things that would work there as well. Okay, I will say thank you so much Thanksgiving. Goodbye. Let's see. Next up. We've got Tom in Phoenix. Good morning, Tom. Hey, Good morning, Brian. I have a question about my plumber area again. Yes Doing Super great this year. It's about the third year in the ground six ft. Tall, maybe an eight ft circumference, But it's listing. It's the way we planted it. It's all leaning one way and I want to shift this thing about 45 degrees to make. It looks straight and the ball the roots got about four Really nice stocks coming out, and of course they Branch out at the tops of those as well, but I don't want to. I don't know how delicate it is. Should I just? You know what, Tom? What? I would do it. I would just leave it, you know, maybe show him up for right now and then I would prune it. You know when before, at least out in the spring. So like in February would come and prove it back. And then you can give those cuttings to friends to grow more plum areas. But I have been so impressed by plumeria is this summer, You know, we we took our little ones and we purposely left him in small containers out in the full sun and the way they've come through. This was their real trial. Yeah, and they've come through like champs. So you know, I'm going to probably grow some plum areas for more cuttings and more varieties down in our farm in the desert now, um, they're they're They're just amazing. I mean, they have really done well, but but the best time to prune, um, is going to be while they're dormant. Then you can take those cuttings and reuse them and I would prune to balance it more than any other way and I would do it. Wait, do it in the spring. Okay, That's what I'll do. And I was going to comment. I used your advice or your grandfather's advice on my black mission Figs earlier in like February through a bag of common you around it and my God way of fix. Isn't that amazing? You know, it was Stephen my grandfather's idea. When he was a chef. He had a friend that was a fairly wealthy man from Turkey that he used to take me over. I was the Turkey man's volunteer gardening boy. You know, And and they were good, buddy. So my grandfather would take me to his house. And I learned to eat stuffed grape leaves all kinds of wonderful things. But he is the one that I think top my grandfather and I both had to grow fix. Yeah, that that that definitely works. There was plenty enough for me and the birds. Appreciate it. Well, thanks, Tom. Bye bye. You're welcome. Take care. Ashley in America Open Good morning, Ashleigh. Hi. Hi. Um, so I have a quick question. And I'm sorry if you've already answered it. Um, are we have a couple of Citrus trees? That obviously with the heat? Not doing Well, We've been, um, watering. And I don't know if that's helping or hurting. What do you recommend? The leaves are turning yellow. Well, I think that mother nature is going to be on our favorite going from here forward. The reality as the days are getting shorter. It's not going to be 120 anymore. And the Citrus trees are going to start to grow. Even the fact that the night times are cooler already makes a big difference. So what I would do, Ashley said. Fertilizer right away If you haven't fertilized yet, you know, Labor Day, you know, Valentine's Day Memorial Day. That's our typical fertilizer cycle for Citrus. And they'll appreciate a little extra food on a watering cycle. How old are they? Oh Oh, that's a great question to years. Five years 10 years 15 years old. Yeah, so older trees, So you want to water and probably deep once a week. Deep once a week, Okay, and what kind of fertilizer Sorry. Citrus foods the best, but but they don't really care. We have one called Organa pro Citrus food. We like it because it's got he laid in iron and sulfur in it, which are both good things. Um, but the most important thing is that you feed him. Perfect. Okay, so and a deep watering once a week. Awesome. Me, me, but also you the federal fast forward, his favorite born film, Powdered doughnut. Okay, What's my line?.

Oh, it was bad. So here's a pro tip. If you're gonna simmer your skull, which takes about An entire day. Do that outside. Yeah. You want to do that side of the turkey Fried? You're not gonna wanna you're not gonna want to do that in the house. Because you're not making any friends with your kids or your wife. So yeah, do that. Outside a similar is the way to go doesn't need to be a rolling boil a pretty solid simmer. You obviously want to bring it up to a boil. And then then, then you want to simmer it for most of the day. I mean, you're not gonna you're not gonna You're not gonna overcook the thing. So here's Here's what I would suggest that if you're gonna if you're gonna process your school, obviously you're gonna have to get the eyeballs out there first. Obviously you're gonna have to get the the brains the gray matter out of there as well. And Just get after it. After that, I mean, you're really gonna have to just scrape it as best you can make sure that there's there's a little thing. Has little amount of things. Yeah, maybe you need some coffee. They can grow bacteria that can just get gross and get funky and then get it in there Great, too, a rolling boil and then just simmer that sucker on some pretty good heat for most of the day, And then you should be good and ready to go. And there's different products from mounts and sprays and stuff like some people will, actually if they have enough mountain don't just have one trophy. Wanna get artistic and do some cool stuff with the cool patterns and stuff of the skulls. That's obviously something to do as well. But then you know, you leave it aside, dried out, and there's also bearing Yeah, I don't know. If you know this you can actually you can actually bury the year your skull. And burying the skull. Always again. I think I just found that out. Yeah, Take it. It'll take a few days for the Beatles toe do their thing. But bearing is is an option as well. And just straight process. I mean, just letting it letting it stay out and bleach in the sun. I mean it zone option If he got all the gross stuff off of there, sitting in the backyard, the Phoenix summer is gonna is gonna make it just fine. He's gonna bleach it out. Nice for you. And in a way you go, but I think the biggest pro tip Don't do that stuff inside. If you're gonna boil, Julio, you or Berry? Yeah, that's another. Ah, It's another pro tip. Don't try to bury something in your house. Oh, Django, he would have if that guy was a digger. He could have done that for me. "Are improving covert situation is allowing for a different kind of Mother's Day celebration compared to last year. Come was Nick pop from reports from Seattle's Pike Place market. It definitely feels much more normal. Now, Gloria Johnston is getting several bouquets for her family, who she's excited to see this weekend. Considering last mother's Day had to be virtual. I have a very large family, so there is a good 15 to 20 of us on his phone call very different. What's different for her today is being around so many people in one place. It feels weird honestly, to be here with this many people pandemic is not over until it's over. And we're definitely still in it. "Stead is one of the best valley athletes that you may have never heard of. But if you have seen her national, but you will never, ever forget her. And she's an inspiration. Even though she plays the sport, I have proven I have the least amount of skill in. Amy is a golfer for Paradise Valley Community College, and she will be playing in the National Junior College Athletic Association National Championships next month in Florida. What's so him through racial about that? Yes, Jim. Why? I mean, you'd expect there isn't a college teams to play for golf championships. Right? But what you might not expect is a golf team member like Amy Bacher Stead. When the 22 year old takes to the course on May 10th at the Plantation Bay Golf and Country Club in Ormond Beach, Florida She will be the first athlete with down syndrome to compete in a national collegiate athletic championship. This is not her 1st 1st. However, Amy was the first person with down syndrome in the U. S. To earn a college athletic scholarship. You might have something to the fact that she became a viral sensation when she played the 16th hole at the TPC and Scottsdale with Gary Woodland right before the 2019 Phoenix Open. She hit into the bunker on the par three Stadium hall and got up and down for par, telling everyone I got this before sinking an eight ft putt. She and her family then created the I got this foundation to provide golf instruction and playing opportunities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. It sounds like she could be giving golf instruction to me a lot of other people that don't have intellectual or developmental disabilities, And for that reason she is a heck of an inspiration. I gotta be honest. I'm not a big fan of watching golf on TV. One of my best friends. A guy was college roommates with used to come by on Sundays, and he loves golf, and he'd turn on the gulf. And next thing you know, we're both taking a nap on the couch. Crazy stuff. And I can honestly say I've never scan the dial to catch the National Junior Collegiate Athletic Association National Golf Championships before With Amy Bacher Stets playing this year. I'm gonna have to find it. And DVR..

"That will hurt Citrus faster than anything. So make sure that maybe you get a little bit of the decomposed granite or the expanded shale and you work that into the soil. You want to do whatever trick you can pull to make sure that the soil drains really, really well around the plant, and it should establish itself pretty easily. You know your lemon Um You were lemon can stay. In its container. For years and years and years and still produce lemons. Now it will get big. So that gets to be a bit of an issue. But It will do great in the container if you want to put it in the ground. Olsen. Protection from the north and the best drainage. You can work into the soil to give it to it, and it should do just fine. And probably because the only place I have that I can plan it is on the north side of my best says is to leave it in the container. It's a huge container. It's 3.5 ft. Tall. Um, you know if you purchased that lemon from one of our local nurseries It is on a grafted. Root stock. And it should top out. At six. Maybe maybe eight ft. Tall and it will not complain. If you want to trim it back a little bit as it's growing, so it's not that tall. That that's some help on the bit about the lemon. But ah lot of people lost Citrus that were in the ground because we were so called We were in temperatures that None of the Citrus should have made it. And if they did, you were lucky. Okay. That is just my question. I'm gonna put my thing in the ground and keep my women in the park that that'll be easy to do. The fig will have no problem but that lemon, you'll still get great lemons from it out of a container. So I get you really get lemons out of it. They're huge. Then you know if it's not broke, don't fix it. I'll fix it. Uh, thank you much for the call. Marsha. Thank you. You have to go. You two boats were up against the our last break. I see Robert and Tamra. Can you hang on? We will catch on the other side. You always knew you were cooler than your neighbors. But if things get hot call the same family. You and I have trusted since 1957 thought service company for generations, keeping Austin Cool.

"When you walk into free room every time the door opens. That song plays people they want. Don't you want people to come back to your brewery? So I don't think that would be a wise business school. I don't know nothing about. You know, businessman and I'm just saying, I don't think that'd be the lich. But e don't know anything about businesses, Jeremy, but I do know Texas. I don't know if that would be the right move. So yeah. You know what? That there's probably some truth that I probably should play from George Strait That probably better off to be safe to be safe. Yes. Yeah, He actually lived in my He actually lives like within, like 10 minutes, So maybe I should actually just have him come and play live. While people come into the burry, Maybe that would work out for me that they would get you some attention. If you could say my buddy George Strait is here. Just that, you know, croon for you. Yeah, Just just telling me play what I tell you to play, George. Okay, let's just name. Yeah, I might be able to talk to me. Oh, you might be able to talk to Billy Ray Cyrus that right? But you can't talk to you. It's crazy, man. I'm sorry. Every feeling him So this gracious Oh, man. Just been the last week or so. I've been talking about the Giants pitching and again last night Disco Funny. Just gets out there. Complete game. Uh, shut out, Okay. Hey, I don't know why I said that. I should just say shut out. Obviously, it's complete game. But it just start after start. I mentioned the strikeout ratio yesterday, Jeremy, which is like I forget what it is now like, would be 1 31 Day. Had 26 or 36. I think it is from the starters and the starters. Just not walking people. That drone strikes. They're getting strikeout. I mean, is there anything you're doing? Because obviously, everyone would like to throw strikes. I mean, every but you want to throw Good strike. You don't want to just throw strikes in a lot of guys could just row strikes. Those are ones that just get hit. Is there anything you're seeing Pitch selection or what they're doing It just it's really impressive. Well, it's movement. So you're seeing Sanchez were you know you saw comment. Only care about my glass city. I'm getting out what it is. It's movement in one of the things that's been sad and I kind of we harped on a little bit last year, but or last couple years, but everybody's trying to go these high velocity. Lt 98. You know, with a brain with a slider and the whole life swing pass and the Swan Changle and stuff. Everybody's got these guys weirded out there all trying to throw around the swing pass. But for me, I mean, like some of it may or may not be true. But the reality of it is I know. And guys like Buster would tell you. You saw it last night. Guys pumping 95 throws at the top of his own. He has the bomb dead center. So guys guys don't get is concerned about 95 straight 98 straight they get into the hundreds. There is a different level of fastball. Okay, So 103 straight is pretty tough to hit. Regardless, you know, if anything, but you get guys that will say I'd rather hit 95 straight. Been 89 to 93 with movement because late movement causes you to miss hit the ball. So your eyes were your eyes see the ball? The last, probably 15 ft. The ball moves on you, it disappear. So so when they break down when they break down a pitch that the hitter sees it for the 1st 3rd of the way, the home plate it disappears on to the I was just can't adjust that quick. So it kind of like, does it and then jumps on him again? That last 3rd 3rd of the way, right? And so it gets there, and they can kind of see OK, this is where the ball is gonna be, so they go to try to connect with it. Man right at that last, you know, 10 ft eight ft before it gets the plate if it has any late movement Hitter can't react to that. He's already committed to a swing path. So where the ball is gonna be so you put movement on a ball. And you put, you know any kind of late, any movement or any kind of lady and I'm talking about a fast ball breaking ball. What it is whatever it is I late when it gets late to the plate, and you sorry, not lady, but late to the plate when it has that late movement at the very end. It's tough to hit that you'll swing and miss your topic. You'll you'll, you'll hit just under it. Pop it straight up. So what I see these pictures mean desk? Nobody. That guy's moving yesterday was pretty filthy man. That ball was coming back. It was it was late. It was It was running off and coming back on. You saw Buster. I mean, it wasn't that he was paying the corner. She was just throwing the ball and it was moving so much late late that they Either. If I was going to be one place and then end up another or its start in one spot, and then just dipped at the very last little bit and and just moved and then he's got a good pre good command of breaking ball. So for me when you look at starters You're gonna be in a pretty good position like you are right now tied for first place in the division. That was supposedly pretty tough with San Diego in L A and but the reason you're doing because you're getting good innings from starters You're not having overuse the bullpen. There's one guy in the bullpen. I'm still a little concerned about being over you over the years. That's Roger's, but, you know, he seems to be doing fine. So to me, you're getting these kind of these stars going late with their movement. You're gonna win. You're gonna win Ball games You saw from tender, pretty much 15 or 14 the Giants when they had all those big time starters over there, So I think you're just getting that again,.
