"I wanna be a seal in. My dad was like a seal. Why would you do that. Like i thought about it forever and he. I'd never mentioned it to anybody because it's a scary conversation to have. I don't even drink in the late nineties. There was that much known about seals yard. Nobody knew yeah. Yeah and yeah. That's way before cell phones and computers and all that stuff and But i remember wanting nine thousand nine hundred eighty and so now. I'm back and i committed. I went down to the the recruiting office and thank god. There was actually a navy seal. In there i happen stance and i said hey i want sign up for the program. And he looked at me and he said Do you know what is involved. And i'm like. I don't really care i'm just going to be a navy seal and so i took the first test and failed it terribly. The physical test. Which i think is really difficult and he goes well if you can pass the test. I'll sign you up until you pass tests. I'm not gonna put my name on that line. Six months training came back. Signed up Pass the test sign up for a delayed entry at the time and then i made it into the seal program. I failed four times filled out of hell week four times and they don't let people do that because it's damaging out there for a year and training just getting beat up and got turned out of the program came back tom. I'm gonna cry. Hit pause right there. I really want to listeners. To understand a little bit about what that means because you see something about the seals on tv whether it's in the news or it's an action film but you don't necessarily know much about what hell week really is. What experiences and and i i went through ranger school back in an army ranger school back in ninety two and my claim to fame. Which i don't usually talk about is that I had a root canal tooth during ranger school. You got a little bit of you. Get a little bit of time and i had a really really bad toothache and i was fortunate enough to We were down in eglin air force base area and the swamp face. I was very fortunate in that. I've been living motrin for several weeks. I went into eglin air force base in my few few hours of physical guessed. What do you call it when you see the medic. Basically eight the rest few hours of restaurant and get this taken care of. And i went to the went into the dentist chair there at eglin and they said somebody just cancelled a root canal. We'll do one for you so did a root canal and sent me right back that same day to ranger school and i was able to finish. I don't usually talk about that story because usually doesn't come up in conversation. Talked to somebody like you. But that's nothing like what you experienced so tell us a little bit about what hell week is. And how do you get this claim to fame of five shots at the time. So let's talk a little bit about hell week regarding you know how it becomes a mindset and the leadership dynamic and hopefully do justice to what you're trying to do in the podcast as well and tie.

I was with Army combat troops for about 45 years ago. And this was not a problem. Then I guess our young folks today are as a group in very poor shape. And our military needs troops in top shape. So this makes sense. The Taliban have once again agreed to suspend attacks in southern Afghanistan that have displaced thousands in recent weeks. But on ly after the Americans promised to hold all strikes and night raids in keeping with the peace agreement we signed with the insurgents in February. The United States has been conducting airstrikes in support of Afghan forces trying to repel weeklong Taliban assaults in southern Helmand province that threatened to derail efforts to end Afghanistan's 19 Year war. The Taliban pledge came after a meeting with US peace envoy Zalmay Khalilzad Odd and a general Austin Miller, commander of U. S troops in Afghanistan. The Taliban agreed to suspend their operations after we said we would end drone strikes on insurgent positions as well as night raids and air assaults. The negotiations, which have been taking place since the U. S, signed a deal with the insurgents on February 29th are seen as the country's best chance at achieving peace. The odds for peace are small, but these people deserve the opportunity to live in peace. Plan B is for us to stay there as the police force basically an endless war. I hope this plan works. How Former Thunderbird Pilot Col. Chris Stricklin Developed an Interest in Flying

"Today. We have Colonel Chris Strickland with us Karl thank you for coming up and being with us. We really appreciate she hit. Thanks Chris. It's always a great time to be here at a and I appreciate spending time with you. Absolutely we'll tonight. We're recording this that we're reporting on a Friday here tonight. Something very special is happening and you're actually launching your book with us here tonight. I am and it's an honor to do that. With such a passionate crowd about aviation to launch a book about an incident that happened to me a while back and how my family dealt with it and what it means to us today well. It's really an honor for us to to be here with you and to do that. We'll get a little bit into the book and Events Around the book but you know I one of our favorite questions. We like to ask people as just. Where did it all start? How did you I I didn't flying? That's always the question that people in Aviation WanNa know is how did you get your inspiration to take to the skies and what we do every single day from me. Small Town Alabama Emma boy my dad worked in a quarry no military in my family and I decided to fly fifteenth and I went to my counselor and said Hey hey I want to go to the Air Force Academy I WANNA fly fifteens and and she looked at me and I would love to say she was supportive but she goes. What's the Air Force Academy and so from their seventeen year old me I got my car went and found a first term senator and said Hey sir I want to go to the Air Force Academy? We sponsor me up there and I had a saying hanging you know my wall my whole life and it was cut out of a magazine it was laminated. I looked at it every morning every night and it simply said like begins at Mach two and I always had it but I didn't you know where it came from. So as I started speaking writing a book I researched it and came from a magazine Article Net back in nineteen eighty six George Plumpton wrote in popular mechanics magazine and he had the opportunity to fly in an F. Eighteen and he did about a four page spread about how it was demanding on the pilot how what it was really like to be a fighter pilot but most most importantly at the end of the article he compared the F. Eighteen to a corvette and to a young child in Alabama. The corvette was something I really loved and I said that is compared to a corvette. That's what I WANNA do with my life. That's funny. It's funny that came from an Plumpton article man. That guy got to do everything I wonder how it compared to quarterbacking the lions yeah it's amazing to does. He understand how many people he inspired what he wrote about and it was it was a true non fighter pilot article about what it was like to be a fighter pilot and the demands that are on our body and what we go through in in it just made me go. I want that so from there you did you you did attend the the Air Force Academy I did. I went to the Air Force Academy about three weeks after graduation with fifteen hundred closest friends for four years of what I like to call all basic training the whole four years and wh what kind of experience was free kind of coming out of a small town in Colorado Springs was it. Was It kinda familiar to you you or was it a kind of a brief from drinking from a fire hose. It was drinking from a fire hose the whole time and I will tell you it is a lot of competition titian. Get in the Air Force Academy as you can imagine and when you take fifteen hundred young people that are coming as the top of their class and lock them in in one building on one campus. Guess what happens when fifteen hundred number ones get together. Fourteen hundred ninety nine of them aren't number one anymore so it was demanding both physically and mentally but there was also the challenge of being in college and such a High Level College at such a level of competition and it was a great I mean I say the freshman year there from he is one of the hardest years that I ever went through my childhood because there were so much adaptation to the new way of life and and getting through the Air Force Academy and the competition to be a pilot pilot coming out of there it was just it was an amazing experience that I wouldn't trade for anything in the world but even now after so many years I will admit that I love the Academy Kademi but I hated every day I was there if you know what I mean yeah that that makes a lot of sense the diesel have I know I still have dreams of being in a final exam Zama last sat for you know twenty years ago. Is that the same thing for you so that dream for me. If you remember a final final week we put all our finals in one week and we ate on base because it's a military and so we had a midnight meal that we lovingly called Scooby snacks. If you remember Scooby Doo Scooby always had scooby snacks so at midnight we would go out to get our scooby snacks and and about every night you would hear somebody goes screaming across the patio out there because they had hit that breaking point and somebody he's not getting his scooby snack. Ah Yeah so what was your progression of aircraft flew through training. How did that go so graduation? From the Air Force Academy I I went to pilot training and back then we went to the thirty seven so the tweet now they fly the t six so you do that for about six months I went to Euro NATO joint jet Pilot Training Senate Sheppard Air Force Base which is where we trained fighter pilots so after six months of t thirty seven training you get rank ordered and then you go into the thirty eight where you learned to fly a high speed jet you go supersonic for the first time learn to fly formation those type things and then coming out of the t thirty eight you get rank ordered and we have assignment midnight so you literally walk into a room with all of your instructors and your peers know spouses no friends though anybody they locked the door they walk up on stage and at the time they took a cheat off of a board that had you rank order from first to last and it was right there and start with number one you get up and walk to the board and they have magnets every airplane plane that was available to be picked and you walked up and pick the airplane you wanted. Put it by your name and you can imagine as you went down. The list got smaller and smaller so for me. I I got my first choice. The F fifteen went out of their to introduction to fighter fundamentals which is where we take the t thirty eight put a bomb on a gun side on it and we fight against the other to start getting those basic fighter type skills in and then I went off to the fifteen at Tyndall to the schoolhouse to get qualified in the fifteen then once once you get to your combat unit which was me was the thirty third fighter wing at Eglin Air Force Base. It takes about three months to finish and get certified before you're a combat ready pilot ready to deploy we overseas why so the F fifteen I mean that's a great airplane undefeated champion as we always say What was your first impression? When you get your dream you signed the fifteen? He got on the ramp at some point and you finally see the airplane. You'RE GONNA fly for the first time. What's that feeling like so if we could back it up a little bit because this happened at the Air Force Academy one of the benefits go in the Air Force Academy is we have an assignment one summer for three weeks to go out and shadow a unit and see the real air force? We call it is like for me happened to go to Tyndall Air Force Base so as a senior at the Air Force Academy I was able to get in an F. Fifteen and go fly for the first time before I graduated before I had the assignment before I'd been through pilot training and you can imagine the childhood sparkling is when I walk out and see that beast I it's the size of a tennis court for those that don't know it's about thirteen feet off the ground when you climb up and I'm just sitting there and admiration of this thing and we take off and when we airborne a home i Gosh I hate it. It is brutal it hurts and I landed exhausted. After a forty minute flight a pulling nine Jeez I mean and they didn't take it easy on me. They full up at a normal mission with me and I remember we went back into into the debrief room which has a lot of computers so it's kind of cool and about two minutes. It's in the debrief. I was not enough out of pure exhaustion. I was so tired and my instructor goes a just an incentive right for you. You can go and go if you want to and I left there going. Oh my Gosh Josh is my life's dream and it hurt. My whole body hurts. It's bigger than any workout I ever had and there was that moment of do I really want to do this and that's when I said Yep. This is what I WANNA do so that was my first flight before I went to pilot training.

"Around America and or excuse me all around the world and America. That's because you can listen to our podcast, so get it get. Apple. Yeah. Get the app a lot easier. Just go get the up. Would you get you get you get you have to tell you to get the up? Yes. This is getting ridiculous now. The important news. All right. The defense department reportedly brief because this is important is because this gets to the area of whether we are doomed, the defense reportedly briefed Senate Intel, g telly Senate intelligence committee, vice-chairman Mark Warner on Wednesday along with two other senators as part of what appeared to be heightened efforts to inform politicians about naval encounters with. Unidentified aircraft and Warner spokesperson indicated that the Senator sought to probe safety concerns surrounding unexplained interference. Naval pilots faced, according to politico, the outlet reported more briefings were being requested as new surfaced. That the navy revised its procedures. For personnel. Reporting on unusual aircraft sightings as part of a program investigating the issue navy personnel reportedly told Pentagon officials that they encountered aircraft that appeared to defy the laws of physics and arrow dynamics in military airspace. Navy? Pilot groups also reported seen strain object strange objects flying above thirty thousand feet at hypersonic speeds with no visible engine or infrared exhaust fumes, according to the New York Times. Since that program started. Military officials have reportedly briefed President Trump and other government figures on the sightings when Trump acknowledged the briefing in an interview released on Saturday. He doubted that navy personnel actually saw UFO's I did have one very brief meeting on it. But people are saying they're seeing UFO's do I believe it. Not particularly, he said asked if he knew if there was evidence of extraterrestrial life from said, quote, I think are great pilots would know. And some of them see things a little bit different from the past we're watching, and you will be the first to know. All right. I don't think they'll be the first to know. We, we need to be the first to know what we need to do. We, we need to do what we always do at this point. Yeah. Well, we need to define phrases and words domed, I think we know. Right. Next phrase won't know UAW owes yeah. We know that. He said he doubted that navy personnel actually saw UAW foes, will they did see you foes, right? Did they see extra terrestrial? They saw we, we can't even. We can't even get the straight in the media. You foser. Unidentified flying objects. It doesn't mean you've seen an extraterrestrial spacecraft. It means you've seen something you can't identify I have seen a UFO gone a long, long time, and in, and in, in terms of defying the, the laws of physics, or Michael Jordan did that for many years. Twice. I've seen as a kid something, I couldn't identify in the sky my brother and I saw it, and then myself and a bunch of boy scouts, one time out in the in the woods, you something was flying. It looks like a satellite or was way, way up there. Yeah. Wasn't an airplane. And it was just moving straight along. I mean it wasn't right. Didn't do anything. And, and the, the other one was sitting in front of my house. One time with my brother. We just we couldn't figure out what it was. It just, you know. Was completely silent and just moving across the sky and not at a not at thirty thousand feet. Probably a thousand feet. Right. And we'd member look at each other going, well, who knows something that goes kids that goes man, so that's got to go back fifty fifty five years. I've lived in the neighborhood that I'm in now for almost twenty five years and actually wasn't that long ago. But it was several years ago for forget, which year was, and we had something that, in fact, it was it was on the street on one of the streets that we could not identify it turns out, it was a luxury vehicle. Neighborhood. We that's ever seen one driving object. Exactly. DO. I you know, so, well, I. I have seen things that I can't identify in the sky. And I am also convinced there was a reasonable explanation as to why I was beamed up and taken for nine days. Well, Scotty needed to have some cocktails something something going on. I just I love when the, the theories start, my favorite, their favorite theory is what they're not extraterrestrials. For me. It's always been been about military testing by other nations. Well, no. I mean I'm going further by I'm going further up than that. Well, because probably a lot of the, the, the things that we that people remember the whole Pensacola sightings, and all them from Eglin Air Force base and, and, and, and drones technology. Right. And that would be an ended up those ended up being a lot of the people are seeing the stealth and the first time the first time I saw a stealth aircraft. Stealth fighter. And it goes oh, I can't remember what year it was. In the eighties for members of the eighties. Maybe but it was well known with the stub. Maybe it was early nineties, I can't remember but I remember we were golfing and some him. But goes what the hell's at look at the stealth fighter, and it looks like a UFO. Yeah. At that time, when you didn't know what is stealth? If you've never seen a stealth fighter you saw going to the sky and you went that's UFO because you could not get an angle because of the way it was you couldn't get an angle as to when an airliners flying, you can see the wings, whatever. But the way that it's built to defuse the radar. You can't tell where the surfaces you can't tell the surfaces when it's flying up in the air and everybody would have sworn. It was a UFO, right? So I can guarantee a ton of those sightings back, then we're on the stealth fighter. No. I mean going above any normal man made thing the I, I love when the scientists talked about the fact that probably it's not extraterrestrials it has to be people time being. From the future, it's human beings time morphine from the future. Yes in their in their spacecraft from the future because that scientifically is more likely than having the ability to go the speed of light from any solar system to make it here. Right. Yeah. I mean, not much more likely, but it's more likely that somebody's coming back from the future. And that's what we're seeing than somebody who is has been flying at the speed of light to cross the universe refined planet earth. Right, that those odds are probably greater than if it is a yeah. Yeah. Right. I love that discussion. Right. Because in theory that, that would be, again, more likely not much more likely, but more likely. Right. Because you'd still probably have to get to the speed of light right back in time there, there aren't that many delorean's let. So do you do. Yes, I don't know. We gotta ask, but fly, he's going to have healthy. Unless unless unless we, we haven't been able to recognize her identity the stealth planet. That's the one flaw in my argument, if the stealth planet exist, which should be hovering. Right over his right now. Yeah, exactly. Yeah. I'm not saying it is. I'm just not saying it's not or there's just or it's not a time warp, but there are actually and this, this will fry your mind because I know scientists and physicists have talked about this. There's actually other dimensions. And it's just the dimensions clashing with each other. He may start talking about time space matter and all that my mind starts frying forever. Remember that one time we had the. We have the scientists on long long long long ago. Right. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And I said, when you start talking about all that stuff. You know how do you know it's true. I've said because my mind is your mind so great above my mind where you can actually process all this time space, warping, and all that. And he said, no, mathematics. He goes, no, no. We're just confused as you are. We understand it because of mathematics, right like, oh, okay. I still don't understand the mathematics. What were they saying about the negative Bennett negative side effects of CBD again? Just just wondering I. Liver tapping. Yeah. Right. It's, it's. Yeah. Liver damage. Mental damage. No, no. I but when you get into that you get into the stories of, you know, a fighter pilots, or anybody else. These are individuals who are highly trained, highly intelligent. And also, they are not. Alone in saying and claiming you know, here's what we saw. They just don't know what it is. And neither do I know I have no clue. I tend to believe it could be I half the population has an opinion as to what it is. I don't I don't speculate. I don't know and an some kind of evidence I look at, like, the, the ability or maybe the possible ability of another nation to have developed something. In terms of stealth surveillance. Right. Being able to drones the most modern of drones that just happened to be shaped like scarred and move very quickly. I again have no idea, but for me, it's always fallen under that not just because of the cell thing. But just because of that's how you would do testing. You would find out exactly what it's capable what the devices capable in a vase of maneuvers, or I guess, I guess with these evasive maneuvers. No human technology can do what these navy pilots are claiming that. They're doing none. That is known to us. Right. None this known to us right flying at hypersonic speeds with no visible engine or infrared exhaust fumes and again, that could be the ultimate in stealth or could be of the ultimate in some type of reflection technology, where you're not actually looking at that object. Right. Exactly. Who knows what the defense department might end zone. Know what I was thinking earlier is that are you seeing an image of something, you're not actually seeing? Yes, exactly. Because if you so take remember the laser pens everybody used to have. Which were annoying. So you would do it for presentation. But or people would use it for presentation. So they would point to something, you know, on the screen behind them if they're on stage, doing a presentation, and then the but the slightest movement that dot that laser dot would move very fast. The point being is that is does it appear to be an object and it's actually not an right? That would be as a scientist. That would be one of the one of the top things I would be looking at right. Right. That you're actually not looking at the object, you're looking at a reflection of the here's my point. Did it hit on radar? And if it hit on radio radar based on based on what again, you know, the, the so. Because if it's not on radar, it doesn't mean that it's not a solid object. But if it's not on radar it's also possible that it could be an image of an object, being projected eight six six ninety redeye..
