"Was tired it had been a long day and she was ready to turn in but she was waiting for her husband. Ned To wrap up his meeting in another part of the House late. Business deals weren't uncommon for Ned as an integral part of his father's oil drilling business. He was often called upon to carry out duties at Odd Times. Tonight however was different NEDS. Close friend and Secretary Hugh Plunkett had shown up at the gates of their Palatial Home. Greystone Mansion earlier that evening demanding to be let in although they'd known hugh for years the dough heinous had been hesitant to welcome him in Hughes behavior had become increasingly erratic over the past months which made them uncomfortable in fact earlier that day. Ned and Lucy had visited hugh at his apartment where they tried unsuccessfully to convince him to check into a psychiatric hospital undeterred Hugh let himself into Greystone using his own key and settled into a guest room where he sometimes stayed seemingly determined to help his troubled friend. Ned went to the guest room and the two sat down to talk somewhat anxious. Lucy tried to stay out of it. Waiting in the library over an hour passed as ned and hugh spoke drank and smoked together in the room. Sometime around ten PM. Lucy was startled from her reading. A loud noise pierced the quiet of the cavernous mansion with trepidation. Lucy decided to summon the family doctor. Ernest Clyde Fish Ball. Dr Fishpaw arrived at the mansion. A little after eleven PM and was led towards the guest room by Lucy as they got near the room. Hugh Plunkett appeared at the door and in a gruff voice told Lucy and Dr Fish Ball. Don't come in here. He then shut the door in their faces. Just seconds later a gunshot rang out behind the door afraid of what awaited them inside the room. Doctor Fishpaw told Lucy not to come into the room while he himself went in as Lucy retreated to a living room at the other end of the house. Doctor Fish Ball opened the door to a ghastly scene. Just a few feet inside the room. Hugh Plunkett lay face down in a pool of his own blood dead of a gunshot wound to the head across the room lying next to an overturned chair thirty five year. Old Ned Dough. Haney also lay in a pool of blood. Also dead of a gunshot wound to the head. Though murder had clearly taken place. Police were not immediately summoned to the scene. In fact it wasn't until two am almost three hours. After the discovery of the bodies that police arrived. Lucy Dough Haney and Dr. Fishbowl gave their stories to detectives. It was quickly concluded that Hugh Plunkett perhaps in a fit of madness had killed his best friend and employer before turning the gun on himself. The deaths of the two men particularly the high profile Ned Dough. Haney were front. Page news recently elected district attorney. Buron fitts promised a full investigation into the crime however no investigation ever came in a matter of days media coverage of the case dried up completely and the events of the night were officially accepted as presented by Lucy Dough. Haney and Dr Fish Ball but many believe the full story was never told. Speculation has raged for decades about what happened at Greystone Mansion. That fateful night coming up. We'll look into the theories about how ned dough Haney and Hugh Plunkett died and what may have been covered up in the aftermath. Now back to the story on February Sixteenth. Nineteen twenty nine Ned Dough. Haney and his friend and secretary Hugh Plunkett were found dead of gunshot wounds in an apparent murder. Suicide police quickly declared hugh the murderer and Ned was viewed as a hero for trying to help his troubled friend however not everyone bought the official version of events. The public didn't seem to trust that they were getting the whole story and their suspicions of a cover-up weren't entirely unjust in nineteen twenty two ned and hugh had traveled to Washington. Dc at the behest of neds. Father Edward Doe Haney senior. There they delivered one hundred thousand dollars to secretary of the Interior Albert Fall soon after Edward Senior was granted the lease on a naval oil reserve worth in excess of one hundred million dollars. This exchange described by the detainees as a loan to an old friend would see the family wrapped up in perhaps the biggest political scandal. The country had ever seen teapot dome. Edward Senior was charged with conspiracy to defraud the United States and stood trial in nineteen twenty six. Ned stood by his father and swore under oath that neither had committed any wrongdoing. The court sided with a doe heinous and Edward Senior was acquitted around this time. Edward senior gifted his son and daughter-in-law with a custom built fifty five Room Mansion. Built on four hundred twenty nine sprawling acres overlooking Beverly Hills when it was finished the mansion became known as Greystone for its facade of Greystone Nedeau. Haney and his family moved into the luxurious home at the end of nineteen twenty eight. By that time they'd begun to notice a change in Hue Plunkett. By all accounts Hewitt always been even tempered and quiet but now he displayed erratic unexplainable behavior. This change could have been caused by any number of reasons including the stress of managing Greystone's construction. Immense pain caused by abscessed teeth. The implosion of his eleven year marriage or perhaps an undiagnosed mental health condition. It's also possible that Hughes problems stemmed from anxiety brought on by an upcoming trial due to shifting political winds. Edward Senior had been charged in relation to the bribery scandal. Once again and both ned and hugh were set to testify and while Ned had been granted. Immunity Hugh had not with the trial drawing nearer. It was speculated that Hugh had murdered his friend and then died by suicide to avoid impending repercussions from the bribe. This particular theory starts to take on water however when taking a closer look at the physical evidence while examining the bodies forensic investigator Leslie. White noticed that neds. Gunshot wound was ringed with powder burns. This indicated that he'd been shot at very close range. Conversely Hughes fatal wounds showed no outward signs of powder burns and a cigarette still smouldered in his fingers. It would seem that Hugh had been shot from some distance. These findings did not fit. The story told by Neds wife Lucy and the family doctor. This evidence suggests that the truth is in fact the complete opposite of the story peddled by Lucy and Dr Fishpaw. That hugh was murdered by Ned. If Leslie White's account is to be believed his findings were dismissed by police who pushed their official version of events out to the press. An autopsy was never performed on Ned and both men quickly buried at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Glendale. The competing theories of what happened that night have fueled further speculation about why ned would murder his best friend some theorize that he was attempting to silence you before he could unleash damning testimony against neds. Father at the upcoming trial accompanying. This theory is speculation that the Chinese were attempting to silence. Hugh by having him committed to an asylum. Others suggest that the two men were in fact lovers and that their deaths were the horrific climax of a quarrel along these lines. Still others have suggested that Lucy discovered that her husband was having an affair with Hugh and in a fit of jealous rage. Murdered them both though there were many theories swirling about what happened most seem to agree that Edward DOE. Haney senior used his wealth and political clout to have the case closed quickly and kept out of the media though the murders faded from public memory. The justice system was not so easily halted the next year. In nineteen. Thirty Edward DOE. Haney was found not guilty of bribing Albert Fall. The secretary of the Interior in Nineteen twenty two though curiously fall was found guilty of accepting the bribe following his acquittal. Edward Oh Haney retreated from the public spotlight and died in nineteen thirty five nets wife. Lucy remarried and continued to live at Greystone until nineteen fifty five today. The mansion is owned by the city of Beverly Hills and has been seen in many popular films and television shows. Interest in the murder is kept alive by an annual theatre production inside Greystone itself as well as local ghost stories. Perhaps the spirits cited in the mansion. Hold the key to unlocking the decades-old crime. The truth is however that we may never know what really happened in Greystone Mansion. "And of course, the story this night and this morning. The Yankees winning over Boston four to one. And of course, the turning point at ordonio NIA is helping the Yankees as much as or Xiaohua, LA Mayhew. Erin, headaches J the bullpen as much as those stores of the New York Yankees. It was the bonehead that he was in the fifth inning. Two-run and two or Benintendi was up at the blade two with a chance to make it a little bit closer than what the score was the time three to one Yankees and ward. Oh, nunez. Let himself get picked off. It was a great laser like throw from Sanchez Dettori's and from here to there, Edward, oh, Nunez as much asleep. Taking is too big of a lead from second base as the rest of the team was throughout the rest of the game. I mean that was basically it for threat Denver's with the home run. And as I said earlier, that was going to give up home run. That should be with so low in mind and solo it was and that was it for the Red Sox offense? They just look like the hangover had come back if it had gone away for a little while where they've started winning a little bit. It's back to the Malays back to the hangover. And this is the Red Sox in twenty nineteen looking like they're going through the motions remembering what it was like to win. Remembering but not playing like a twenty eighteen that's for sure. And in Boston, they may be thinking of fire sale and firing sale. But the bottom line is the Yankees touched him up. Yeah. Yeah. Ten or eleven drank as what everybody has strikeout. So the Yankees. So continued to dominate and just with their it's not so much anymore. The magical mystery tour. It's not so much of a mystery how the Yankees are winning and LA Mayhew hitting over four fifty with runners in scoring position and Aaron eggs with the big clutch, two run single. And I mean, you know every night and or shell making a, you know, he got a couple of hits he's starting rallies. I'm just saying it's the every night it is somebody in a starring role. Sanchez did not dome run tonight. Neither did Luke void. But, you know, that's coming soon to a ballpark near you know, so I mean, it's just amazing what they have done remarkable and amazing. And by far. Baseball's member one story when you consider everybody just about making an appearance on the I L the Metropolitans in the desert one their game five to four didn't come easy for them. And you had a Wheeler going seven innings giving up a couple of home runs. And then how refreshing how novel in how welcome if you're a metropolitan fantasy luego, luego healthy and getting people. Allowed even though it was scary, because he gave up a one out triple with the Escobar, but got out of it, and then gazelle men getting the final three outs in the bottom of the ninth inning and five to four. The Metropolitans winning a little bit of a controversy with the Gomez ground rule double over the bag. That's a fair ball landed and foul territory. The boy down the line picking it up on Pires took a look with the review and with the headphones, and with New York and decided that a the bowl was fair and be, yes, a run is going to score. And, and so it did with Gomez getting the ground rule double, and nor BI, and of course Frazier at your very and Davis. Combining to give the Metropolitans in the top of the eighth inning, their fifth run in a five four win. Now a few words before we get right back to the della phones, you can imagine. And I'm listen, I okay. I was just joking. I wasn't in Romania visiting relatives. I know what happened in game, one of the NBA playoffs. And I'm just thinking you can imagine how uncomfortable that might be when you swallow your mouth peas and your pride at the same time what happened in the mouthpiece. While we think we saw a few turnovers. We think we saw Thomson with his feet of clay the bounce a brick off the rim. Unpack more than once, we think we saw Dray, who knows trash talking out trash talk, Draymond green. We think we saw sea academe. We think we saw Ceac dominate both ends of the floor, and we think nobody was able to box out because so we think I made your problem for the mount. These and the shimmy was oh, how you say transition defense. We think vanfleet when guarding Dell Curry son, held him to only deuce on twenty nine possessions, guarding, the mouth guard, and we think we may have the lucky charm for the raptors and it goes something like this. We did this before game one and provided some good luck. Some good fortune. Some terrific basketball by the raptors. So we're going to do this again. And it goes something like this. Oh Canada, the raptors home in their native land and true. Raptors love in all of us command with growing hearts. We see Leonard rise and hope he and his mates all hit their stride. Oh Canada, we stand on guard for the hoping the raptors make all their threes. That New York knickebocker because they have Spike Lee, the raptors they will shake and bake with Drake..

"Yeah. I think it is over I don't even get someone's gonna get my contract invite him to spring training. Anyone that's watched in the last couple of years. He's not the same player doesn't move very well at all you can't play shortstop anymore. His bat is really slow doesn't have the power used to even batting practice. I think unfortunately, they're climbing the injuries have caught up to him that I respect the heck out of the Blue Jays for being proactive. Why bring the guy into spring training and dopes like me and following them around is he gonna play is he not gonna play. Hey, they didn't believe that. "Fives From the new JR weather center Still looking pretty good but storm starting to come in from the last we'll see them scattered around. As we get into the afternoon a few showers thunderstorms. Eighty-one scattered. Storms into the evening then overnight partly to mostly cloudy sixty seven Saturday sun and clouds isolated showers thunderstorms and a high of eighty four from the Weather Channel ideologist Ray Stagich on NewsTalk seven sixty WJR George hearing the Frank Beckmann show news talk seven sixty WJR stay with me on this topic it's all going to blend together at promise you Rochester take. A call Edward you are next up good. Morning Hello edward Oh. Hi I that's. All, right This You know you were talking about your previous, producer Shelly that stop you from San, Francisco? Right and I'm blind and I lived downtown Rochester and I'm on my fourth liter dog and they teach us how to pick up the dog poop with one gallon, Baggies and I buy a whole raw one thousand one gallon Baggies from a, wholesaler and we pick it. Up I don't know why they can't teach the homeless pass out Baggies in San Francisco to pick it up entire, good not, da. Right I, mean it's really pretty. Easy Yeah I mean, they they hand out you. Know drug paraphernalia you know and stuff like that and it's only thirty dollars for a thousand Baggies right and you, give them, a. Scooper and, the way they go You. Just put. The bag. You put your? Hand inside the bag and pick it up while, you, can do and, that's that's exactly it turn it inside, out and that's what you do and you, walk dogs that's that's right very good how? Do, you let, me just ask you, this out, of curiosity, Edward because, I mean we've all walked dogs and and no and we see when. They? Do their business but how do, you know where it is I I always say I, use heat-seeking Baggies but actually you pay attention And the dogs have, a little, routine they'll do like a little. Spin or, you know you you know it's it's their time to go and I I do a lot of walking and, so, I'm, always walking with a bag of dog poop in my hand actually I've. I have told my daughter to say how I want to be remembered. She's a painter, and walking down Letica waiting with a. Bag, of dog from my hand my leader, dog on my left side I'm sorry for laughing but that's You see, the humor I have so many friends in town, and I'm always waving and. I always get back Cracks me up all. Right well then let's, stop, it already okay hey Edward thank you for for doing that and. For the, call Shelly dear to our former, producer is right here in studio with us I said we saw this call and, said now this is just I'll I. Can. Tell you is providence that's. Edward would call while. Shelley's here from San Francisco the San Francisco. Area visiting relatives right. Yes my family, mostly still live here beautiful thanks for coming? By it's good to see you. Yes likewise. Seven, years it's almost seven years. August. Twenty, six, you missed it so much she. Missed so much she, goes, back every seven years for visit that's really all right now tell. Me is, it really that bad and San, Francisco like we're hearing Yeah it is it's a? Problem how bad Well it's chased out conferences Others been. Conferences that have been closed they were supposed to, be a big medical. Conference, and people are scared I. Mean it's just so bizarre why are they let it happen that's that's the complex issue, that I don't, understand I think it's just all. Up and down the west coast because I visited. Seattle Portland, it's there too. And. I call them tent cities so? They. Make their own towns out of tents. I mean the homeless do yes so the homeless, set up tents yes And then they. Sleep. In these tents and eating them? Yup And then they. Walk. Down the street wherever they want and do their business correct and the from what I was told by one of the talk show hosts out there was this while back was that they've been banned from going like into the Bart stations to use the restrooms because there were such messes that were. Left, up, and. Down the escalators, in in the hallways elevators yeah especially yes and I mean I mostly, work in the south bay because I work in. Silicon Valley but. I am, a, Burt user and you don't it smells sometimes I, mean I I mostly use it out of the East. Bay, but the, ones more, into the. City in, San Francisco yes huge problem, Civic Center big problem. I mean, it's not even just that? But it's drugs too so. Again why do they allow it that's what I, don't understand I think it's that I, hate to say it but it's that liberal west coast. Mentality Because I mean me and my other. Half, are, from. Here in the, mid west and you don't see that I mean if there's a bunch, of people that wanted to create a community down. Here under the. Overpass off, I, seventy five the police and everybody would be over, there like you would get arrested there just like they. Just, turn a, blind eye, in I. Don't understand, it and in the difference, between Edwards was just. Saying you, know you can get a? Ticket if you don't after. Your dog exactly and in San Francisco we let, people do this in the streets Yup It's the needles, to and the, and the excrement I hate to say it I mean it's not everywhere but you know there's some areas you do one of. Wade irritates in angers. Me is that it's not a cheap place to, have I, mean even Oakland where I live it's you can't get rent. For. Under two grand a, month now and I don't really wanna look. At Especially those, in San Francisco they're paying forty five hundred dollars on average to. Rent a small little closet that's crazy And I. Mean he can't let people in your house because they've been walking on the. Sidewalk shoes Just unbelievable. And by the, way Shelley's other half is her dream boat from I think she Kaga Milwaukee Milwaukee New somewhere. On that side of the lake I hope you guys you're doing well yes happy and having a great time He's. An automotive works for a company called truecar it's like a third, party? App, I take a competitor to give. You, an, idea as auto trader right well maybe. Someday, you move back here no no No no we. Like it too much smells no I mean it has. Its pros and cons that's, just one but there's more pros that. Make up for it I mean nobody's going to. Beat the pay here for me. No one's going to beat the job here for me I hate, to? Say, it but there's no jobs here. For, me It's the, best opportunity I could have. And, I, wouldn't trade. It for anything else that's sad that you know that that we can't drop people back and I remember that always. Being, a topic of the brain drain here and. I'm, I. Was educated here I had the best. Education here, from elementary school through university and. I just always, disagreed I mean there was never anything here well. Listen it, was it's good of you stop by and I. Hope you enjoy your stay with all the relatives in. Us anytime show okay they, sure will be careful with your walk Well Let's face. It you're never.

"The atlanta airport on one hour sleep okay i can do this i stem come on i see i assume that what was going to happen was is that you would get done that game last night knowing that you might have to go the airport this morning it just went to a parking garage at the airport and slept just in case it might snow july and pittsburgh anyway look we got really sad news yesterday ken revisit who is a mental skills coach he's affiliated most recently with scott okaz but he's worked with so many athletes on he passed away on sunday at a heart attack recently and i was just struck and i got to know ken through the years i wanted a story i'd say decade ago on evan longoria and got to know him through his work with evan and then i'd see them all the time whenever we do cubs games he was the nicest guy and you could understand why the players liked him so much but i didn't i i don't know if i had a full understanding of just how well liked he was until yesterday when i saw just the outpouring on twitter from guys like jared weaver anthony rizzo so many players responding to the news of kens death it really was sad news boy utah about someone who made an impact on people in his lifetime yeah he really did and i just buster we did three games cubs the dodgers i saw out there we had a nice chat and that that job of sports psychologists is important today especially in baseball because it's such a difficult sport and the number of players that he dealt with and i sat next edward oh perez last night during the game in the booth and we talked about ken because you know like so many players knew him so well and especially those guys on the raise and then him come into the cubs i haven't had the heart to call joe madden and send along my condolences but joe had a lot to do with ten of course working those raise guys now is with the cubs wonderful man i had a wonderful conversation with him in la and i will miss him and you talk about a glass half full personality i mean he had the perfect personality to do the type of work that he did yes oh absolutely buster in this sport again you have to have that mentality other otherwise this sport will just overwhelmed you and he knowing the game pretty well understood the failure rate in this game on a daily basis and therefore he presented everything as a positive he had to otherwise his players would get through this and he has he did such a great job for so many players so had time for the chicago cubs in for so many players who worked with ken in new ken and we're affected by all the great work that he did in his lifetime manny machado spoken reporters yesterday tim about all the trade rumors in basically said look i'm going to have to deal with it he also said that he is short stop but that doesn't necessarily preclude him for being third baseman so let's just go through all the details that we know about what's going on manny machado is reported the other day one source told me that the orioles are at the thirty five yard line the opponents thirty five yard line and they are driving their moving closer towards the deal i think he's gonna get traded by the time we start the second half we know the dodgers are involved as i've said before i have my real doubts about whether the dodgers will ever step up and offer the type of prospects that the euros are going to require because andrew friedman you look at his trait history he just doesn't do that the milwaukee brewers on the other hand absolutely we've seen market nausea in the past most notably with sobat the step up and pay a big price at those times when it looks like the brewers are close to potentially having an impact and had no doubt they could do that in the postseason this year they've been the best team in the national league for a while in terms of their one loss record and then the yankees look they had contact with the orioles last winter they've had contact again this summer i still tend to think that this is due diligence that said to him a couple of things are developing this summer where i think it potentially perfect storm could develop where.

"Matchbook trip around the basis we've seen yet this is with nobody out but he makes it happen it was really interesting to jd pointed that out that it may not have been smart play certainly had the swag in there's not many players in baseball can make a tag exciting how could make a slide exciting he's almost sort of taken the slide to the next level so many i understand that for years players have been signing a sliding to one side of the base depending on what they put many players woodside head headfirst initial void perfected the swim move was like no i'm not gonna let you and a lot of times you're not supposed to slide headfirst into home because you got to catcher there was shin guards and all the equipment on sliding headfirst into home is no is the best idea but the way he was going to do it is slide feet first past the basin and try to reach back but what he did was amazing and yeah was an interesting trip around the bases he stole second one two third on a ball thrown away then comes home on that a lot of good discussion about if he the most exciting willie make the all star team has the starter that race is neck and neck voting goes till eleven o'clock tonight the highlight of lending jd on wgn yesterday he already passed booder ginette now he's trying to chase down ozzy albee's second base we'll keep you posted and cubs of one six in a row stuck to call radic before we get into the the harvey bias conversation ravioli was doing the college world series for a couple weeks and raby wanted to ask you this this of everything you've seen whether peon tv in person whether you're broadcasting or just watching as a fan where did the the second the last game rink is far stunning finishes when arkansas miss the opportunity to clinch the college world series well it would be near the top as far as disappointment for a particular team you know whether it's whether it was the white sox inability to field their position back in the world series and their pitcher's throwing the ball away when you like we should have won the world series the buckner play which obviously didn't result in the team losing but these things do carry huge momentum then i think athletes tend to dismiss it but when that ball fell between the right fielder the second basement of the first baseman you know their reaction after which was tough play we'll we'll get them tomorrow we still have a game three but they also then went off and got to hit complete game by a freshman they were dead you know at that point and you don't acknowledge it when it happens but that's a that's eight fly ball catch away from winning a college world series parade team that was picked by many to get to the college world series in the beginning of the season so that type of emotion disappointment i the more around sports guys the more you recognize the role that that emotions and the brain and that that type of stuff play versus just the physical stuff it it really really does impact everything in every event whether it's basketball whether it's baseball whether it's golf another great example of brains getting in the way and or not getting in the way they were really shut down as soon as the kid came to the plate with a second life he delivered a gametying single boom a two run home run and that game is over and we came back and really the series was over so it's way up there with regards to recognizing disappointment that arkansas and their head coach and their and their fan base had to deal with i'll say this about college baseball to just quickly the the i guess the the passion but that may be that may be being polite about the words that you use the league interest and i guess the word would be sort of angst that particular college fan bases have when you're calling a college game and or series it's remarkable how we were perceived to be rooting for a particular team win obviously if you know edward oh perez myself and colin peterson we wouldn't we don't care who wins that or not were hoping for really close games were vilified for rooting for oregon state and we weren't really so on twitter carl vilify vilified and.
