"Graphs. Baseball podcast brought to you liars. I haven't won in a while. It's been a long time. But this is a podcast despite my goose brought to you by our patriot supporters and i am meg a graphs and this probably obvious by now. Brian joined by you ben. Limburg of the wringer fen. Are you pretty well. Are you signed. For making bleep. Blurp noises. I'm doing great. Yeah yeah me too. As soon as we finish this podcast. I will be off road awhile. I'm taking a few days off next week. You just took a few days off. Everyone's doing it. It's the holiday time of year sort of even if it doesn't really feel like it because a lot of us are not going anywhere doing anything for holidays that we would normally be doing but we stop be working less. So that's something that i'm so happy that you're taking some vacation. You're really terrible at that. I will not be taking a vacation from this podcast. Of course my other work. I will be taking vacation from so that something well. I'm glad you're getting a couple of days off. And it's you know it's perfect timing. It's a short week anyhow my advice for vacation which you have followed without even hearing it is you. Should you know you should really set yourself up for short week. Some the runner back end of vacation. I was on vacation and my final day vacation. Was this past monday. And on sunday i was like oh god i have to go back to watch more than i was like. No i do not. Yes so it was a lot better that way. Everyone should do that. Set yourself up for short week. If you possibly can extra day or that one less day that you don't have to work that can be a big mental boost so so we have a guest whom we will be speaking too soon and her name is raine patch him. She is a fifteen year old pitcher in abbotsford british columbia in canada and she is one of the hardest throwing women in the world. Not just for a fifteen year old but she threw eighty three miles per hour just a couple months ago and that brought her to sort of international attention because it is one of the hardest pitches thrown. That is on record and to do it at that. Age is incredibly impressive and she is. I don't want to put too much pressure on her. But i think it's probably safe to say she's a on. That seems fair so she has a bright future ahead of her in baseball seemingly and has been playing for almost her entire life so we will talk to her about her history in baseball and how she got so good eighty three is just. I mean that is fast for any fifteen year olds. That's that's fest for most humans of. I certainly have not ever and will not ever thrill eighty-three prowler. So that is Pretty impressive so we will talk to rain soon. About her history she's Played in many boys leagues. at times. She has kind of broken into boys baseball and she has some stories about that before we get to rain just a couple of. Psa's the effectively wild secret. Santa has started. Registration is open now and this seems like a year when people might enjoy doing that. If you're getting a little less holiday cheer than you typically do. This might be fun thing for you to do. It's been happening for the past few years. It's operated by a listener named zack. When coast who takes it upon himself every year to organize this. And it's great and i've participated in it. Basically you just sign up you just give your name and email. I think it is. And i will link to the form where you can put that in. Find the link on our show page and if you register by december first you will get randomly matched with another participant another listener of the show and get their info via email. And it's just like a recommended twenty dollars or so whatever you can spare and People mail each other gifts and their baseball themed. And it's just very wholesome and the people who participate who are in the facebook group post pictures of the gifts they get and it's just a a nice virtuous cycle of people posting cool baseball things that other listeners gave them so encourage everyone to check that out. If it sounds interesting and you haven't tried it before or if you have do it again and all through the mail. Yes don't have to get together. Don't have to be too close. Stunning distanced you. Just get a a lovely little bit of holiday. Cheer through the mail. That's baseball themed. What's what could be better than that not much. I have enjoyed it. I also wanted to alert people to the existence of a new podcast that is hosted by eddie robinson who we had on effectively wild you and i interviewed eddie. About a year ago it was episode. Fourteen fifty four. He was ninety eight years old at the time. He is about to turn one hundred. His hundredth birthday will be december. Fifteen th. He is the oldest living player and seems to remember everything that has ever happened to him with like pretty perfect clarity and he has started a podcast. So that's Now added to his list of accomplishments. He's hosting a podcast. It's called the golden age baseball. With eddie robinson in listening he's about five or so episodes and they're pretty snappy episodes. It's just kind of like oral history. He just recounts his life and his experiences in baseball. And it's a lot of fun so maybe now that he's a casper. And he's approaching his centennial. Perhaps we will have him back. But you can find the gold nature. Baseball with eddie robinson. Wherever you find podcasts as people say on the one hand. I am remarkably impressed. I mean as you said. He was very sharp when we talked to him..

"In antonio it is always a pleasure to have you cro- thank you so much we will check in with you soon. Victory over the ravens on sunday. Steelers coach mike tomlin notched his one hundred fortieth career regular season. Win breaking a tie. Tony dungy for the most wins for black head coach in. nfl history. Tomlin is in his fourteenth season with pittsburgh and also has eight postseason wins and a super bowl title shannon reaction to all of us really know the big deal while we're making why they made a big deal out of skip winning as a black coat. I thought all coaches matter when mike tomlin got into the coaching profession. most people say skip. I want to be judged against a great my peers. not black. not white coaches when lenny. Wilkins became the all time. Winningest coach in basketball history. They didn't say he had the most of the black coat that he was the winningest coach in basketball history. Eddie robinson the same things get. He was the winningest coach in college. Football history was not black. I did it any past tony. Dungy tony we know what tony down. Just been great He was the first black head coach to win the super bowl and he gave mike tomlin his start his opportunity to believe coke done to the mentor to mike tomlin. But that's not. And if tony dungy measuring stick out so be it. But i think mike tomlin wants to be measured against other coaches black or white. He wants to be measured against bill belichick. He wanted to be measured against the dawn jewelers. The ed reads eleven bill cow ever. The coaches are whomever you deem that the great coke that's how he wants to be measured not just because these blinds don't measure. Oh he gave. What did they got. No other got mike. But yeah, he he's won the callers do have as you said earlier today, probably undoubtedly the most unique show in America that can irritate the dickens out of us until we keep watching see if you get better and you do every year. "He's won the Eddie Robinson coach the award twice in two thousand three at LSU when they won the national title and two thousand eight so that was before the. First of his five national tests. He hasn't this whole run. He has never won national coach of the year, which is kind of insane. And I think it's hard to say this without having seen how the playoff lays out. But if they win the national championship, they would be the first fifteen zero team for fifteen national champion, and he would have done it in a year where he lost. What was it? Six assistant coaches. Just plug new guys in transformed his offense yet to me. I wouldn't vote him. I would definitely vote him coach of the year, and I wouldn't say that necessarily every single year he wanted national title. But you know, this is a team that people are talking about could potentially be looked at as one of if not the best of all time. Shouldn't you be recognized for that? Yeah. I think I think you're right. This question from Patrick I knit your student. Bruce love the pod. Keep up the great work. Thank you, Patrick. What is the national media fares will love what is the national media's love affair with Washington. Every year they seem to be over hyped and don't ice up to it. I see them as an above. Average team. But not as good as the media wants them to be on a similar note, Jake Browning had one good year seemingly six years ago and has been quiet since then I don't understand why everyone thinks he is so great. And why Washington is still you wanna take it leave talked about the Jake Browning thing before, you know, it's a little delicate. I I think I think we can both agree. He never kind of replicate what he did in two thousand sixteen for whatever reasons. But I the first part it's like above average. You know, they're the number nine team in the country. If they're if they're only above average, then I guess most of the country is average they didn't have the year. We thought they would before the season, but they're still Pacho champ. They're still playing in the Rose Bowl in over the past three seasons. They've gone to a new year. Six bowl all three years. Played in the playoff the first year play in the fiesta bowl. Now playing in the Rose Bowl that's more than above average, my friend. Yeah. I mean, we've actually our crew is done Washington. Four times. I think they're really good defensive team. They've gotten better as you're on on. Because the one piece they missed and certainly without via the vita hurt them was they didn't have the same edge pressure that they had before. Now, they're starting to get with Joe try on who's come on redshirt freshman. They I think the issue Jake Browning. I would not say. You know in a lot of ways, I don't know anybody who raves about Jake Brown. He's been there a long time. And he's won a lot of games. And he's been a good fit for the system. And if you look at what Jake Browning and miles gas getting Ben Burke, Irvine there, the nucleus of a class. It wasn't even ranked as a top twenty five class, and they really turned Washington from being pretty good to really good and to be in the class of the Pac twelve so I think that's why they get most of the credit because everybody else in the Pac twelve has been pretty shaky in that point. I mean, Stanford has probably been the next consistently good team and Stanford's down this year even further. So I think that's the explanation for it. He will they're twenty two and five in the pack twelve the past three years. So yeah, it's down conference. But that's still pretty good. I will say it would really help. I think maybe what he's alluding to is. They've done very well in the pack fall where they haven't had that big. Win non conference win over highly ranked team including losing to Auburn this year. Didn't Trump all that? Great. So it would certainly help their credibility if they could be Ohio State. Yeah. All eyes will be on that game. Certainly because urban Meyer's last game. You have the second most explosive offense in the country only two behind Oklahoma. So big test for that defense..
