"Patrick have been entertaining fans off this classic sitcom for Over 50 Years. And tonight, Butch Patrick joins us in studio. Nice to see you again, Butch. Thank you, Dave. Appreciate it. Well, you know, Everyone knows you was Eddie Munster. But that's not where you you got your start. No, actually the it was an interesting situation. They were in agent was looking at my little sister and I went along for the ride for a photo shoot. The gentleman had some a couple shots left over his camera, and he thought I was kind of cute and had a look about me. So he took a few photos. One of those pictures he put in his window on Hollywood Boulevard in his studio and a director and producer of walking by they were casting. Ah Little B movie called the Two Little Bears Notice The picture tracked me down through that photo. Eddie Albert Jane Wyatt, Eddie Albert Jean Why it's soupy Sales Nancy Cope and a 15 year old singing sensation Brenda Lee was a great little B movie six weeks of work, and that was actually the first interview ever went on. But before that one in the production, I didn't went on another interview for a little Syriza's. That was a soap opera that was called General Hospital s. So I was on the first year General Hospital did the the real McCoys after that, then I Then from there, the monsters came along very cool. And you did some guest roles to liken Bonanza and rawhide and my favorite Martian And between all this, Yeah, I was always very busy doing guest starring roles and back Then they had a lot of old shows. And there was Alcoa theaters and And a lot of lot of shows that aren't on today, But, yeah, I kept very busy. Very busy. Yeah. Now at such a young age was acting something you just wanted to do. We're your parents encouraging once you got rolling Wasn't really something. I didn't dislike it. I didn't like it. I really had no opinion on it. It came easy and I did. I knew I was doing something special, and I thought it was fun. And I know I enjoyed it more than going back to boring old elementary school. So with that important with that in mind, I thought this isn't so bad, and I just kept the darn busy that it was fun. And like I said, it came reasonably easy to me. And the rest was just somewhat history. Most pretty cool because Universal Studios, of course, was best known from the thirties through the fifties as the home to the Universal monsters, Frankenstein, Dracula, the werewolf, among others, and The idea of a family about comical monsters, Uh, was first suggested to universal in the forties. I think by Bob Clampett, which was an animator for us loony tunes, perhaps yes. And it was nixed, Um Rocky and Bullwinkle writers Allan Burns. Chris Hayward also pitched a Syriza's, but it was a script by Norm 11 and Ed House. No love thy monster. And and these were Leave it to Beaver Guys. Yes, yes, Joke Ali Bab militia who created Leave it to Beaver and also Amos and Andy before leave it to Beaver. Uh, it's funny when you mentioned the cartoon guys because some of the most talented and funny people in Hollywood in the thirties forties and fifties were cartoonists and animators, and they would get away with things through cards. Yeah, And to this day they all have these little secret eggs and a lot of these movies and stuff these guys that I did. I did The Phantom tollbooth for Chuck Jones when I was 14, and I learned a lot from him And my My My grandfather is actually an animator for Disney. But those guys back in the day a lot of them were behind the scenes in animation, and then they transferred over into sitcoms. You know, you think about those creative minds? Obviously, when you're doing animation, you know that's that takes a ton of creativity. So you know, coming up with something like this seems like a natural. No, absolutely. And it is very there's such a talented pool. They're the people that do the voices of the mill blanks. The June forays, Daws Butler, all those people and it's It's kind of like a Subculture of comedy that was its own little click. You know, these guys were like, you know, Basically, they were, they were way ahead of the time. Sure, Sure. Now there was a there was a pilot that was done. It was done in color, which is it's still bizarre have watched that because it's a slightly different cast and Fred Gwynne is Herman looks a little different with the makeup and everything that didn't quite click. And I know there was like 500 kids that you think about this 500 people. Auditioning for the role as any monster and the monsters right, And at that time I wasn't even living in l. A. I had gone back to live with my grandmother. I was in the fifth grade. They were to be perfectly honest with you. Bill Movie was their first choice and he didn't want to do with his mother. Boston space didn't want to make up. Plus, he was working a lot. I think it's serious would have probably held him back because he just I've worked a lot, but this guy was over the top busy. Then what they did is they had a kid named Happy German and Joan Marshall playing Mother. Mama's the Phoebe role, and he played Eddie Munster as a very rabid, angry, aggressive little kind of guy. Scratchy, itchy guy, not a happy feeling kind of happy. Ever Happy German and s O. What happened? Apparently, the last minute they brought in some star power, which was even DeCarlo, of course, And they may be actually decided to go with a more likable kid. More more like a beaver more like leave it to Beaver type character on and they My agent sold him on me. So they said. We looked at every kid in Hollywood. She was true, but he's not in Hollywood. He's in Illinois. I was down the street, a little town called Genesee. Oh, not too far from here, and they threw me out. Then we we went over to the studio. And that was the restless history. And, of course, Fred Gwynne and Al Lewis. They were in car 54. Where are you? So they had some good chemistry already going there there. They were a very good comic team really something anything and I think about this all the time. Push that the show and I know you know, today, you know they're doing 18 episodes 13 episodes 22 you guys did like 30 35 Plus, and the show was only on for two years And you think about the chemistry that the cast had. It's still one of the funniest shows that still stands up today. It really does a lot a lot of people and it's It's when you watch it. It's you know, the obvious is the interaction with the actors in the writing, But when you go past it and you listen to the music, and you listen to the editing and the sound of the Foley and then you Listen to and look and then visually, you look at the lighting and the editing and the sound and the set design. I mean, just the special effects in the set of gone very much like a little mini movie, the lighting, the film factor and all that stuff and all the above it made it look like a little quality movie. But this was I was gonna say Universal obviously produced the monsters as well. But they were able to use these copyrighted designs of Frankenstein. Yeah, that wasn't just something you could go out and do I mean, universal owned? That right to do. A lot of that stuff in the makeup of the show was created applied to the actors. Bye bye, makeup genius Bud Westmore, which is which is pretty cool and In the house. I mean, just so much of everything on here, a lot of the elements of the house and grandpas little what you call it. The dungeon where the dungeon was. There's parts and pieces..

"Knows everything he's way out. I know, but he knows everything he's gonna go be traveling. The country for the munsters. Reunions? Gonna be at the same comic cons that GARRETT'S going to be addressed as captain America. He'll be well. He's Eddie Munster. Yeah. I thought that was Butch Patrick eight months. I'm Paul Ryan was Eddie Munster widow's peak or it could it be Stephen Miller, the senior advisory after this rayon. All right. So anyway, so that's the word there. Nobody knows what's happening or what's going to happen. It's really kind of up in the air. But I'll tell you what it is is pissing off some people. I'll get to that. In a second a supporter of Trump's border wall has decided that he has going to start a gofundme page. I think we talked about this yesterday was what was it yesterday? What was the number yesterday was like ninety thousand just under under a million when we started. Okay. So they're trying to raise money so we can pay for the ball. And it's skyrocketed a two million. So it's up to two million dollars, by the way, if there were five thousand millionaires out there who want the wall. Do you realize it five to five thousand millionaires is nothing? There's like. Like five hundred million million at least a million millionaires in this country. I would think so I think we have an update actually that tuned on that two million. Yeah. What is it currently sits at over seven million seven million three hundred and ninety two was just like a million five this morning. Yeah. A lot of people want to. What does get this done? But here's the thing though, that that's a long way from five billion way mean you'll get there. Maybe in three years, where's the coke brothers when you need them? Well, here's the thing though, cook Brazil foot the Bill, but I tell you what if you had five thousand millionaires out there, donate one million a piece. There's your wall. We should do like a telephone. Where's Jerry.

"It's the most punch though, both phase of the world. Eddie munster. Yeah. He's not punishable though. He's huckabee'll. Let me see here. Dan, Maynard says when a studio decides to green light a film, what gets taken into consideration to build the budget to the final number does the director who ever go forward with an estimate or idea. How Dan that's a great question. Well, the director doesn't budget the film. The director is told what the budget of the film is. I mean, unless it's like super-duper Indy. The director might have their their fingers in that pile a little bit more. But the line producers who sort of gets all the numbers together and probably presents the final budget to in the case of a studio. I guess just a, you know, not the studio head while maybe if it's big enough movie. But I think when it when it's a studio to these days a lot of times just a math problem like they have a it's as uncreative is sounds may know, basically how much movie will likely do. After the first couple of weeks, and that really paints a picture of how movies gonna do overall. And they say if you put this star in this movie pair them with this person as a co star. And if it's this genre of film than historically it will make this kind of money, and it really is a bit of a buzzkill for like what you feel like is the creative process budging films. The least fun part of anything really leave it to the bean counters, Jack leave it to the. Goodman, all. All right. Do one more here. Then let's get outta here that stupid HR meeting, and then we'll record some more. How about that sense? Great. This is from Kristen Glenn Kister. What movies are your holiday traditions in my house? It's the color purple while making pies for thanksgiving. I got stopped there and just say that is awesome. Such a specific tradition to make pies and watch the color purple. I love that. And then die hard and Christmas Eve just a name a couple. Well, one of the things that we do in our family is when the Christmas story a Christmas story is on the loop on TBS a lot of times. We'll just keep it on in the background and catch bits of it. When we can now that have a daughter, I'm going to start the tradition of imitators jug band Christmas. And I think they just reissued that and some sort of new soundtrack the soundtrack baby meant speaking of Christmas story, I told you that's the only way I've ever experienced that movie. I don't think I've ever seen it linearly like in the right order. I think I've just seen little snips of it too. The loop. Oh, he's getting his eyes shot out here. Wait, what does this come before? And after the bunny suit like I'm confused. And then what else like try to watch planes, trains and automobiles around thanksgiving frustrating. I feel bad for those characters nothing. Good happens to them. You know, it's an exercising. If you Tilleke. Yeah. I mean for sure, but it's such a sweet story and the sad story. Just find it very punishing not for you. Those aren't pillows. No. All right. So that's it for this week everyone. Glad you're back, buddy. We're going to record a couple of more of these in a couple of hours because we had a beef up for the holidays, bro. And. Yeah, you down, you know, I'm down check. All right. "Minority leader san fran man we'll have no choice but to initiate impeachment proceedings should she succeed in seizing the speaker's gavel top congressional aide through the republican says i'm sure pelosi will have immense pressure from the base to impeach another senior republican eight in the house that's logical the fear of a wave election that would sweep republicans from power in the house and perhaps usher in democrat lead impeachment proceedings in two thousand nineteen are now heightened with the coming exit of speaker paul ryan what does that have to do why with paul paul ryan's part of the problem why don't we get a real speaker in there who stands up and does all the things that we need to do all but he's so likable like eddie munster come on folks get him outta here he'll look if if eddie munster and the kennedys had a kid it would be paul ryan one white house officials said there are worries among president's aids that ryan's choice not to seek reelection might signal to other members who are concerned about losing their races that they shouldn't run either well if we got rhinos like him great can we wash them all out at one time a source familiar with ryan's thinking said the speaker understands that much of washington will read his announced departure as something of a concession the democrats are likely to take the house he is well aware that some may say but also quite sure no battleground district or race will be decided based on his decision no one has put republicans in a better place to hold the majority of the speaker robby mook is not as optimistic the democrats will sweep the house he said democrats need to remember the gerrymandering is real and we have to win well over a majority of the national vote to win the house this is harder than it looks progressive political strategist julian moulvi a veteran of the two thousand sixteen berm me sanders presidential campaign is working on a number of two thousand eighteen races across the country from ben jealous and maryland the nancy soderberg in florida that's a i've always yeah he was head of the nwea pc always so what a great name for a liberal ben jealous yeah been jealous all my life and he says what sanders continue to say is we shouldn't jump the.
