"Even bad blood this year you know we're last year was the star trying and the best suntan we've ever had was that rain out you know we haven't had that this year yet in fact we haven't even had great games have won seven of eight although really six of them have been pretty close but anyway so it's a good rivalry because for two years now they've been basically first and second place both years divorce getting off to a better start but the cubs you know sort of catching them at least last year they get in july we'll find out if they if they catch him here in june feels like they will but man milwaukee's good especially out of the bullpen so you got to get to these starters early once they get the hater and could able and these other guys it's tough to score best bullpen in the league a lot of you know good stats for both teams pitching wise milwaukee hits more home or something because the cubs have a higher opie ask but yeah tommy i think it's a good little rivalry the it'll be great fan compared to last time in april we only had one game over forty thousand even though it's middle of the week now that school's out i think we'll have forty thousand plus every game split fan base all that's in place so yes i i like how this rivalry going and and if there's a moment at bad blood then all of a sudden it erupts in a different way as well we'll find out if that happens you know if it turns into a a pirates cubs moment jess one other injury no in that is okay so they transferred eddie butler to sixty day do he's been gone for a while with with a groin injury actually through bullpen session in arizona they called up anthony bass he's gonna make his debut he's got some ties he played with otani and japan actually is brotherinlaw's eric decker i think it's brotherinlaw's brotherinlaw's eric decker so cathy bass maybe a guy.

"Pirates had a lead from pretty much what third or fourth inning on another cubs came out and scored first but then the pirates scored look people may have left the game i believe at one point the pirates were up eight two two eight two two so you may have seen some empty seats at that point that was in the seventh and believe so there are people there was every seat filled i did not believe that it's tough when you take one day off and then you think jesse told us to take a policy which i don't totally agree with is you by opening day tickets you have to use your opening day tickets even if it's postponed the next day there are a lot of people come in town only get one day off from work for something like this and then they're already in wrigley it's not like you can make up your your mistake for work so if you're leaving wrigley field now you wanna win anything that you saw from opening gay three one two three three two three seven seven six cubs lose eight to five waddell mentioned tyler chat with takes a loss he's now owing to five innings pitched he allowed five earned runs nine hits he did strike out seven while only walking wine might montgomery is you also mentioned struggled to innings he allowed three earned runs one of them being a homerun eddie butler pitched in another scoreless inning he's off to a good start brian dunning pitched a scoreless inning in half did go over four with a walk today his average is down to one fifty six right now schwerin nice bid a hitting early in the game they had a shift on him and he went the other way basically hit the ball where the shortstop normally would play drove in a run early in the game i think it was the first run of the game he went two for four and ended in over fourteen stretch so much needed day for cows warburg today as while i'm actually drove in iran he also scored iran he'll struck out once today so three one two three three two three seven seven six we'll read some what's rathers in just a little bit you can keep entering that since we're gonna take some cubs calls here but if you want to win a fifty dollars gift card for would you rather could send us your tweets hashtag ws would.

"All right moving on cubs played seventeen any game in the first series of the year shot or no shot major league baseball has to do away with extended inning games no we've been down this road they've played this sport for one hundred and some years and now we got to change the rules dumb dumb the only thing i could see them doing because the amount of money they put into pitching to not have to get guys arms hurts nets so different than it was one hundred years ago allow you to have thirty guys travel or twenty eight and then each day the manager goes okay mac debating those twenty five so eddie butler would not have been activated saturday or sunday and you'd have had another arm in the pen joe came out after that seventeen seventeen inning game and he said his idea was if you play twelve innings or more you get two extra roster spots the next two days for pitchers for just carry thirty guys travel and twentyfive get activated that's what i do because jed hoyer joy carmen in europe in spring training and he was asked about that and he said there's a certain point where you just hope win or lose the game is over because you know the longer you go the bigger detriment it's going to be your team tomorrow the next day the next day it just adds up all right last one big tilt tonight michigan villanova for the championship if villanova wins jay writes should be considered the best coach currently coaching in college basketball jay right if he wins it again the night shot that he's the best coach going right now in college.

"Runs when you say it now i think of innings played or seventeen innings played how about that and you know baseball's talked about let's put a runner on base in the in the twelfth inning and you know and start the extra inning that way because looking at joe madden's face after that seventeen in game boy he just didn't know what he was beside himself and then of course you've got the pittsburgh detroit situation that went on there's is long games all over the place do you think that pushes baseball a little bit to the maybe try one of those experiments no i don't think so you know on the major league level i would just be too much of a fundamental change i think i i don't mind it in the minor leagues now you know if i was a season ticket holder at a triple a ballpark i would probably feel differently but you know i did see in in the world baseball classic twenty seventeen i saw some games where they use those rules and and it was exciting entertaining i you know i kind of compare it to your to football tiebreakers college football versus the nfl i much prefer college football over time which is you know i it's quirky and goofy starting out the ball on the twenty five and designed to produce scoring and quick ending but it's to me much more entertaining than the nfl just resuming a game with you know people hoping to get a field goal or or you know possibly gonna play a long time without anybody scoring i i like the college version and i think in a different context i think the tiebreaker is great but i i don't i don't imagine that rob manfred would be innovative enough to put that in in major league baseball and yeah it's almost every has twelve or thirteen pitchers and you're gonna have with these you know everybody's not gonna be a one inning reliever anymore you know you're looking almost kind of going back to the future with six starter long or levers and we saw that game last night eddie butler of the cubs came in.

"Uhhuh what's up buddy roll can't wait for this cub seemed to take on the our house that's the marlins in about thirty minutes yes black is trying to tell me that football opening day is better than baseball pudding day no shot no no opening day in baseball is been special for a hundred plus years nobody talks that way about football come on opening day baseball is where it said i used to get school or get home right away and you know get the scorecard out and go or go to the game by it gets come on you don't do that for football you're not you're not going crazy for for football in that same way no chance no if if the bears were playing they don't but a day game during the week you're not pulling your kids out of school for it but baseball day all the way yeah especially when the team that you follow i follow we all pretty good one thing if you're if you're a marlins fan and opening day you might get the game but fans i imagine are taking off work early leaving school early whatever putting the tv's on at school the phones whatever because this team does look jack they they look like they could win on another one hundred games for sure and they should have an easy time with the marlins this week it you never know what baseball but this team does look like juggernaut again all right so let's talk about this roster it's now set take us through it yeah eddie butler is the final relievers so he kinda in a way came out of nowhere but the release of justin grimm opened up a spot for him joe's got a nuff to to rest you know hit the guys the way he wants to now because he's got montgomery from the left side for a long man eddie butler from the right side is a long man eight relievers i think it's a very smart move by the cubs to keep twelve position players only and thirteen pitchers those physician players other than maybe hayward you know there's a moment where you might pinch it for him or or obviously the picture you don't need to pinch hit for many guys on this roster.

"In a normal year would be far and away the best team in baseball i think that they're off off on their own and there's a terrorist three with the nationals red sox in the cubs behind them quite easy favorites to make the playoffs they're all probably gonna win somewhere between ninety and ninety five games barring something unexpected and i think they can hang with those fourteen in a best of five best seven series but there's a difference in quality i think you know pretty it's not a huge gap between say the indians and the nationals to to the cops and red sox but it's a noticeable one when you look at the chicago cubs even though they're going to win that many ballgames and being the top six in baseball in the power rankings what is the one flaw that you could point to with this team i'd like them have another starting pitcher they had this in common with probably twenty five other teams in baseball you know i there one injury way from going back to the eddie butler well but i think the difference between this you're suppose other years when they went out and got that weather was all this chap and now the bullpen twenty sixteen or jose cantat in in midseason is their farm systems pretty close attacked out so everybody that they that they developed with that incredible crawford position players because he'd been traded or is with the big club now so it will be more difficult for them to go get another starting pitcher like that without if they need to without taking somebody off the she's going to contribute on the twenty five that roster do you think brand tomorrow can be an effective closer as he starts to in that role for the cubs healthy i mean he's he's had the goods for ten years in health has always been the issue.
