"Just doesn't have the intangibles right like you as you know y- playing quarterback in the nfl unless all those guys believing you and it doesn't seem to be belief in him from all those guys that's what you're pointing out. They can't fool players. They they know if you lack confidence that position. i'm not. I'm not in hurts. Has all the confidence has all their believe. He's not that good. So i don't know what i don't know what you do. I don't know that they believe that to be the sentiment though. I think they do think he's that good. Do believe he gives them an opportunity. So it's interesting because when you have different perspectives on people's games from different people. I it's always somewhere in there is is probably the truth I i looked at. I look at jalen hurts. And what he's able to do. And i see. His athleticism is his his cool calm collected way of approaching what he's doing. Let me whether he's a good player or not. I think that still remains to be seen because in the end his. What bought him time as a signature win against a really really talented new orleans defense and and some would say. You can't look out and win a game like that in new orleans as a rookie quarterback if you don't have a certain skill set to go along with what you're doing and they were short handed so to me i. I'm not so much. I guess going to go down the road saying that he. He's not a good football player. But i think now the question becomes a belief factor from doug peterson as to what his his plan is. Doug are you going to go with jalen hurts. That probably means you have to get rid of all that day caps base that you're gonna have if you're trying to get rid of carson wentz because i i mean the way he stated it out of his own mouth he doesn't have any interest in being a backup. So are you gonna put your belief and your future..

There and the trouble was going to stem from Key injuries like losing bud. Depre- yep a key that that might have been the biggest key injury that that probably has taken place in recent recent days. Four for the the steelers but i just i just felt as though this was a team that was struggling to find a rhythm doug and you can be a good team that is off balance and off rhythm out of rhythm and when you're out of rhythm it can look really bad so it continued to look really bad early on for the steelers team and i think. Jj watt. i heard a quote read a quote from jj. And i thought he was he was spot on. It just seemed like a team that that wasn't playing with the mount of energy and just excitement that was necessary need for them to be able to compete and win as as still rated team and once they did was they decided to just come out and play like win lose or draw..

"But then they got a third time. And you when you were saying fourth round pick for for Tonio Bron. I'm starting to I'm thinking, wow, they got a third. Well, maybe maybe Jon Gruden new give you a first round pick for Antonio Brown. Yeah. Maybe you know, the Steelers thought that they could get a first round pick. I I'm not so sure that he won't buckle down. It. Let's say they do trade them and be a good citizen on his next job. Because he's gonna wanna prove everybody in Pittsburgh wrong. Do you think he became a celebrity Ed where he was a feel good story? Surprised everybody. And then all of a sudden now, you're different. Oh, you think you're different? Yeah. It's hard for me to put my finger on it. But he was he was it was a good teammate his teammates law them a lot of them still do. But then he started pulling like basically shenanigans, you know, he he would he would before they put the rule in that you could celebrate. He did these stupid excessive celebrations and got fine and got fifteen yard penalties. And they try to control that and he threw fits on the sideline. He did that Facebook live thing after playoff winning Kansas City while Mike Tomlin was addressing the team. But then things things turned different this year. Dan, they really did. You know, there was some some some different acts not not all of them involving the football team. Yeah. And that's the thing you had to speeding ticket. You had some kind of altercation with a woman in his, you know, in Florida, so I don't know alleged furniture throwing off the fourteenth floor balcony and Florida. A lot of stuff. Yeah. A lot of stuff. And and I mean, he left the team three times once for week and training camp. But they covered up. They said he had an injury. And he really didn't once on a Monday after the Kansas after they lost a Kansas City. And he he threw a fit on the silent in show up Monday. And then at the end of the season quit on man. But if he leaves it makes your job a little tougher. No, it doesn't really cause. I don't I don't have much interaction with him. He only talks Fridays, and that's my day off, Dan. You know after games or so many people to talk to. I mean, the stories are always there. I know what you're saying. Yeah. There's always somebody else around the corner. What you've been doing this for a long time since nineteen hundred five. So I'm sure that you'll have something else to write about next season with the Steelers. Ed, thank you as always for joining us. All right. Thanks for having me on dementia. Ed bouchette he covers the Steelers Pittsburgh post gazette. Yeah. It sounds like he's done with Antonio Brown. But man, you look at those those numbers for the last six years in your average one hundred fourteen catches. Just feels like he felt that maybe he should have been more the focal point like it's Ben's team. But I'm gonna guess if you ask if I could sit down with Antonio Brown and say whose team is it he would probably say was his team. And then he said Ben had sort of an owner's mentality with the I mean, it's all vagaries here with with you're trying to read these tweets, and, you know, you gotta read in between lines in between those lines of those lines and really what's going on with Pittsburgh here. Yeah. Pulling it you look at the the system argument though for the wide receivers they're juju Smith Schuster age twenty two had one hundred and eleven catches and almost fifteen hundred yards..

So a couple of questions for Tom to answer. Also, we'll check in with the Steelers. Ed bouchette covers the Steelers Pittsburgh post gazette all the drama within Tonio Brown. Is there any chance any way that he could come back to the Steelers? And what does he worth on the open market? If you're going to trade him turning thirty one later on this summer. I was looking at the numbers in Tonio Brown has more receptions and receiving yards over the last six years than any player in any six year period in NFL history. So he's averaged one hundred and fourteen catches and over fifteen hundred yards over that time. Name. Stat of the day best out of the day stat of the day. Here comes that what stat of? Yes, Paul is a bit of an issue a stat of the day, Dan, if you remember mcloughlin's mantra from two thousand fourteen wide receiver receptions, don't matter not an important stat. Okay. What about yards? Do. They matter. Mclovin. What may he said it? I didn't even say I mean, well, he happens to be right? But yeah, yards are big deal. But we'll see when someone else thrown Antonio Brown. He's gonna he doesn't like Ben now. But I'll bet you by week nine when he catches a few ducks from other quarterbacks kind. I mean, it depends on what team it by way. You said a fourth round pick earlier in the show. Well, that's what I was able scout that too I said what is he worth? And he said well talent was a first round pick. But you're not going to give up a first round pick for Antonio Brown. And the scout said, and I don't believe that Antonio Brown is going to go to another team and stay with that current contract. Can I say if I'm rooting for any team? I want him for fourth round picks that when you said that I'm like, well, you know, fit the ego. Give up a fourth round pick for him. But you're right. I've been reading widespread mid around mid round pick up if you'd like get in touch with the program best and worst of the weekend. We'll take your phone calls. "You got a lot to do but has the success of the patriots especially playing in a conference championship game. It feels like for the fifty of time in a row has that also kind of shield at some of the criticism of the Celtics. One hundred percent. No soon as a as soon as they're out or they win it all it is all on the Boston, Celtics. So this it's the biggest teacher van last week should've been Kyrie Irving. And I hope he did for them. Because they I mean, they talk about it a little bit. But you would be amazed at local radio here. And they how they talk about like third string left tackle. And how you can have a huge impact in his ex game versus not talking about Kyrie Irving Colorado's teammate. So it's been good. And I I actually I I like the patriots and I continue to root for them. Because once they're gone. It's real for us. He played eleven years in the NBA you made one hundred eighty three Skaff. For my career one hundred and eighty thousand pointers. Either. Now right career. This is what I look at it. Like that man, I should have done better. But you know, I may more threes and Christian Leitner, which I thought he would definitely crush me on that. So that's pretty proud to do on the dream team got more threes him. So is that what you telling your kids? Now, I made more threes than guy will. About how you I got more. "So now, I'm like already starting to get sad only have thirty seven minutes to go with you guys. Love the DP show listeners looking forward to talking with my buddy Brian Baldinger in a little bit. I think I've literally said my buddy for all four guests. So I think when I bring on Bali and be like, I hate this guy. We're going to talk to him. Anyway, Brian Baldinger, I did want to ask you before we get to my wide receiver story that you guys are going to like you were talking about that golden road. So so here's what I'm into these days. Right. I like as your double as with like some fruit flavor to them like I like it a little bit a for what what is what is golden road rock in these days. There's two perfect beers for you. Then. All right. There's the wolf pup session. I session IP. That's why like yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It you can crush a lot of. Yes. Yeah. It's perf. Yes. That's a good day drinking. Absolutely, correct. All right. Yeah. Hundred percent. So that's a wolf pup session IP, and then to sort of get that fruit part of it for you that you like mango cart. That's what Dan likes right and tastic. Yeah. Both of them. Both of them are great beers. Really? Great beers. Love it. How do you get it golden road brewing? They're available in all fifty states. So it should be it should be around love Ellen to your local Paki. I love it. A lot of people can just go to a in Pennsylvania. Now, you can just go to like sheets. And like, I I think that's happened. You can just go into like a. A convenience store. That's how it was in jersey. That's new to Pennsylvania. Yeah. Grown up in in jersey. You could pretty much by a beer anywhere. You go to flower shop, and they were probably sell them beers there. So I gotta tell you guys this wide receiver story to piggyback off of Ed bouchette sounded like disgruntled. You know, like like, and you know, what you have to be if you're a Steelers fan. So anyway, here's why I think that you Jews Smith Schuster MVP things a big deal. Is there a position in pro sports? That's more dependent on other people than NFL wide receiver. You need the offensive coordinator to throw you the ball. You know, the offense. According to the game plan for you number one. Number two, you need the offensive line the block number three. I was he need to quarterback throwing the ball. But number four, you're also somewhat depend on on the coverage. And what the defense does. It's gotta be the most dependent position in the NFL in all pro sports and what a run like seventy off into place. Let's say forty those plays a pass play. So you're running forty routes. And if you're really good at your job, you catch the ball six times six is really good. So so, and I think guys. Here's a weird thing about pro football. Okay. You are competing against the other team. But in terms of your compensation and your status you're also at times compete with guys on your own team. So the example, I gave is two thousand four when I was starting at left guard for the Buffalo Bills. We had Eric moulds who was a longtime number one receiver and a very good player. And he's probably like thirty at that point. You know, he had been the number one guy the guy in buffalo for at least five or six years. They drafted Lee Evans in the first round. So first of all if you're molds you already have your dander up a little bit, right? Like, you're already like, wait a minute. You guys trying to get me out of here. Why need to draft a wide receiver in the first run on the big dog here? Right. So you already have that thing going number one. Then we're playing the dolphins down in Miami. And Bledsoe throws to beautiful bombs to leeann Evans for long touchdown. It was sweet. It was awesome Lee. Evans could roll. I mean, he was fast, and I could just tell on the sideline. Eric mold was steaming steaming, and I don't blame him for this. Because you realize wait a minute. If this rookies making big plays. They're going to realize they don't need me. They don't need to pay me ten million dollars a year. They can move on so remark and down the field..

"But the bell things done, you know, the move on from him, but going to beat another running back to and can't you go with Connor and the this rookie. You gotta find another one. So if if they move Antonio, and I talked to one personnel guys said, I don't know how how they can't get rid of them. You know, how do you? How do you live with that people say well, sit down and talk to them it done that for years. The man's thirty years old. He's not going to change. Wow. Sounds like you think it might happen. It why think is possible. I don't know. You know, I thought they should've packed Pell last year. No. They didn't listen to me there. You know, they do what they do. They don't panic. That's one thing. They don't do Ross. You know, one thing you have to do is you gotta think without Antonio who you throw into juju. And I guess I mean you have to find somebody else and James Washington who they drafted last year started coming on little late this year. You know, good day still think they have a Super Bowl team. But I don't I don't know how you live with this. And always appreciate the time. Really curious to see what Mike Tomlin ends up saying that we all are today. Yeah. I bet. Thanks that. All right. Ross could be with you. There is Ed bouchette of the Pittsburgh post gazette terrific stuff. Remind me by the way, poli in the boys to tell. "I will tell you add. And we're talking with Ed bouchette of the Pittsburgh post gazette who's at the Steelers facility in my experience. Ed, I think the juju Smith Schuster MVP thing. It was a big deal because you know, hell hath no fury like a scorned wide receiver because they know they need to get the ball. There is dependent as anybody on the ball. And especially when it's a long time number one wide receiver, and they kinda feel like that status is threatened. I've seen that happen. A number of times. I I don't think that's a coincidence at all, Ed. Yeah. I I agree with you. And I suggested that they do away with it. But it's it's more a slight to others than than it is a, you know, an honor for the MVP sliding others bend was slighted bench should have been MVP. In fact, the name if elected ban is probably wouldn't happen because you could. I can't tell you could could've understood the quarterback. But you know, one of the reasons to get so many balls is because they double team Antonio Brown. Does it feel like Ed, you know, like for them to not vote this burger the MVP it almost feels like a popularity contest. Yeah. It is. He's one of only once in fifteen years Ross, you know, a lot of people say I could name the quarterback every year. Well, they named them. Never, you know one year. I mean about throwing them upon when he leads the league in passing yards. Yeah. Unbelievable. We're talking with Ed bouchette and at noon today. I know you're at the Steelers facility, noon eastern. Mike Tomlin's going to address the media. What what do you think he's going to say? Mike too smart to to allow anything controversial to come out. I think and what I mean by that is he put on the he put on the injury list. Antonio Brown all week coach's decision slash knee injury. And he said he had some comfort. So I think he's just going to double down on that say, hey, it was the me, you know. That's why he did practice, you know, had discomfort him, and they and that kind of you know, there's not going to be any. Gotcha there. So add when you say to him, but what about Mike the three days off and multiple sources telling me that he didn't show up till the game on like, what's he gonna say to that? I don't you know, what about him blowing off Saturday. You know, even even if you have an a knee injury you show up at the team meetings. Right. Yeah. And you get rehab. You're. You know, he wasn't even he didn't even he didn't rehab it. He didn't have any medical attention. That's one thing. Mike said he he went for medical tests are understanding he did. There's no chance with the dead money that he'd actually be traded. Right. I mean, it'd be like twenty one point five million hitting the cat. There's no way that's going to happen. Correct. Ross. I just wrote this for my paper. I don't know if it's online at are not it's twenty two million. If he plays this year, that's his hit twenty one million if they trade him. So the hit is the same basically. However, you're not paying them the twelve and a half million salary or the two and a half million roster bonus he's due March eighteenth. So there's there's what's that fifteen million off that twenty one you can do a lot with that fifteen million. Plus, you you're you're on on. You know, you're not on the books for him after this year. If you truly believe he's a poison. I think you trade them you come out and get some other wide receivers free agency draft. However, you wanna trae, however, you wanna do it sounds like the money they saved from not having to pay Levy on bell any money. I mean, honestly, Ed between the lady on bell stuff, the 'Antonio Brown stuff. Ben calling out some teammates publicly. You can't tell me that that hasn't had some impact on this team underachieving, right right now, there's little doubt. I mean, lady on bell woulda helped him this years. No doubt him and Connor would have been a nice team at the very least. If they you know, if it's Connor they went with Kahn and bell reported later when Tyler got hurt they could plugged bell right in there. Yeah. You lose great players you you're hurting yourself..

Yes, seen speaking of tweets that you get yesterday. There was this one kid Zach who tweeted a did you see Ross's to do list? I didn't get that. I get that. I I. To do this. Why it was funny? It was like way brush t to the show or something. Yeah. Why is that funny? Okay. Because he says Ross's to do list wakeup check brush teeth. Check pick out a shirt pattern checked. Check. And I'm watching that. And it's two thousand eighteen and he's not allowed to play football until twenty twenty one in the NFL, and I saw tweets from Danner Lobski who played twelve years, Brian bald, and you're going to join us in fifteen minutes saying that they think if he was able to come out in this draft that he would be the number one. Overall, pick the number one quarterback. And it just seems ridiculous that he can't play in the NFL till he's twenty twenty one. I'm not even saying you should be able to go. Now. I'm just saying next year after next year, he'll be more than ready. It's ridiculous to think that he has to stay until twenty twenty one. Anyway, we'll get back into a little bit later because I'm very curious to get your tweets and your calls on that right now though, I want to go to my buddy, Ed bouchette of the Pittsburgh post gazette. And if you're really good at your job, you catch the ball six times six is really good. So he so, and I think guys. Here's the weird thing about pro football. Okay. You are competing against the other team. But in terms of your compensation. And your status you're also at times compete with guys on your team. So the example, I gave is two thousand four when I was starting at left guard for the Buffalo Bills. We had Eric moulds who was a longtime number one receiver and a very good player. And he's probably like thirty at that point. You know, he'd been the number one guy the guy in buffalo for at least five or six years. They drafted Lee Evans in the first round. So first of all if you're molds you already have your dander up a little bit, right? Like, you're already like, wait a minute. You guys trying to get me out of here. Why need to draft the wide receiver in the first run on the big dog here? Right. So you already have that thing going number one. Then we're playing the dolphins down in Miami. And Bledsoe throws to beautiful bombs to Lee Evans for long touchdowns. It was sweet. It was awesome Lee. Evans could roll. I mean, he was fast, and I could just tell on the sideline. Eric mold was Steve. Aiming steaming, and I don't blame him for this. Because you realize wait a minute. If this rookies making big plays. They're gonna realize they don't need me. They don't need to pay me ten million dollars a year. They can move on. So we're marching down the field. They throw a slant to molds. He takes into the house for a touchdown like thirty yards. Probably I run down to high five I go. Heck? Yeah. Eric first of all he takes the ball. And he throws it against the back wall as hard as he could and hell Heke, Eric and he said. Away from me and just kept running like he he wanted three or four guys came over to your teammate. I know three or four guys came over to fi them. He didn't high five any of us. He didn't he was that angry and that upset about what had happened that? He he just wasn't having it. I was like, man. Why did you see a different breed? He met NFL touchdown. And you don't high five your team? The guy that like just blocked for you get the bleep away away from me. I was like, okay. All right. We're winning score a touchdown. I'm a little confused. But then I realized he he had and that's part of how you become a number one receiver, and it's because you become that good is he had that much competitiveness that much fury that much passion for his job security, and he was that angry that they were throwing the ball to Lee Evans and not him poly, real quick before Baldinger you ever have a teammate that you could say it. Now, you couldn't admitted at the time that you were physically scared of like where you wouldn't want to be on his bad side where you just like I would not want to get in a fight with that guy. Who'd be percents was the first name to pop in your fam-. Daryl gardner. Google him defensive tackle Miami Dolphins. Washington Redskins six eight maybe three thirty rippled, Avs. Everybody was scared of that. Dude. Everybody Google images of him. Now, he's like a bodybuilder, and he looks like he could be Mr. Olympia, whatever it's called Seton. When you Google is the first thing that comes up is as a newspaper article from two thousand nine titled modern day gladiator look back at Darul Gardner's career all will holy cow. He's he's like fifty or forty forty five years old, right? Hey, I started thanksgiving, you know, to my second year, and I got an cut halfway through the year by the Redskins are picked up by the Cowboys. I cut all Gardner on like the second or third play of the game. He comes up to me, paulie. And he takes his hand and hits me in the head. Like this like top of my head and says talk. Not again, I will embarrass you. And I'm on Texas. They I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I won't I won't. I'm sorry. On NFL feel literally excuse me, literally apologizing and saying so there'll garner was a scary, dude, man. I'm sure of our next guest Brian Baldinger when against him guys. That were pretty scary. He probably was as much of a wimp saying sorry like I was I knew he could embarrassed me. I knew like if he really wanted to he could Brian Baldinger played forever in the NFL his breakdowns on Twitter. Baldi's breakdowns are incredible. Highly encourage you if you are interested in football, and how it really works to check out his breakdowns, obviously NFL network analysts been working with them for a long long time. Baldy it's Ross thanks so much for coming on the show Ross happy new year. Good to join you. Thanks a lot. Hey, was there any ever anybody teammate or opponent that you were like legitimately a little bit scared of you really would not have wanted to mess with that. Dude. Well, you know, the forklift in Washington gatherers jumpy gathers was a guy that can flat out embarrass you the forklift Ross's you as you remember was where he literally would pick up the guard or center and just drop him in the lap of the quarterback. And once you got picked up there was like. Like, it was like a cartoon pretty much helpless, and you really you wanted to win the game. But you didn't want to be embarrassed by jumpy gathers that was worse because being ruined by your teammates in the film room is worse than any collective loss by team. I can see that for sure I want to get to something you tweeted about Trevor Lawrence during the Clemson nerd aim game little bit later, but I I've seen so many of your body's breakdowns on the rookies. Baker Mayfield saquon Barkley in particular. I'm just curious offensive rookie of the year. D have a guy you lean to. Well, I mean, it's it's it's a good competition is your it's a great rookie class. I mean, there was a time when rookies were basically red shirted in the NFL, but not anymore now talented they have and how season they are coming in as much as I love Baker. And I've loved them. I never understood why Cleveland would let him compete for the job from the very beginning. And why had to sit out for two and a half games before he took over. But I still think saquon was a guy just did something for the NFL, and I had to put together a highlight package of saquon. I ran out of time. There was just too many of them. I mean, there's eight plays over fifty yards. Fifteen touchdowns catches die. There's one yard run. Is that look like highlight reel type runs, you know, it's going to be hard for for me to to take anybody over saquon right now led the league in yards from scrimmage with over two thousand yards. I never saw either nicked up or tired in. In any game. The guy was just a complete machine start to finish all the way to the final game against the Cowboys Ross. You know, what's weird to me about him bald? And there's other great running backs Todd Gurley Zeke, Elliott, etc. I don't think there's another guy though that makes NFL defenders look as bad as he does at times. Like, sometimes when guys are trying to tackle them. He makes them look bad or when he bounces outside even guys that have an angle on balled him. He he legitimately. I think it's fair to say at times makes NFL starting defensive players look bad, or at least pedestrian you think. That's fair. Yeah. Yeah. It is. I mean it started week one in the rain against Jacksonville. I mean, watch television Smith in miles, Jack. And, you know, the whole group of berry church, watch them all just grab nothing but air, you know, all game long and it went like that all season, and they constantly took the wrong angles. And then he just has that ability just to. Yeah. His balance his ability to jump and make is missing land on his feet almost like a ballerina at times. It's just a an incredible blend of all of the great attributes you could possibly want the ability to make people miss the balance that he has and then to strengthen the burst from any position is is just it's really unlike anything I seen in this league, a long long time, and I and I blocked for Dorset in Eric Dickerson and Thurman Thomas and hall of fame backs. But I I don't remember any of those guys being able to do the complete things that saquon can do what about MVP Baldy? Can you still make an argument for breeze or is it just Mahomes? You can make an argument, but you can't make your argument from this standpoint wise, you can't give it to them as a lifetime achievement award. Just because he's never wanted before. You can't give it to him on that merit. Yeah. Why why he hasn't been one one before with all the accomplishments and everything I don't know. But this year start to finish Patrick Mahomes was the best player in this league. And he didn't take Sunday off or Thursday night or Monday. I didn't take any day off. He was phenomenal every single week. And there's only the only guy to throw fifty touchdowns in season. But even more than that was the percentage of passes that were touchdowns. I mean nine percent of his passes. We're touchdowns. Nobody in the history of the league is ever come close to that number before. Yeah. And you know, what to I almost feel like Baldy the saints defense playing so much better in the second half of the year that almost hurts breeze in that it makes it like what he did offensively was less valuable. We're talking most valuable player because that. That wasn't really the case with the chiefs. They needed every every throw Mahomes made. Whereas the saints defense really started to play pretty well. So breeze wasn't quite as valuable in those games. Although we all know how great breeze. I think that's that's a pretty good point. I want to get into these playoff games with you as well. I'm talking with Brian Baldinger NFL network. Does terrific stuff on Twitter. You gotta check it out Baldi's breakdowns. He's fantastic. So one of the poll questions today Baldy has been the wildcard team that you think has the best chance to make a run to the Super Bowl. And also the worst like the least likely scenario of these teams this weekend..

Appreciate it now. So once he retires. They're gonna realize what they had, you know, it's one of those guys I love you Ivanic Famer. Walter depends on what replaces him because I used to say that about Donovan McNabb and now no eagle fan thinks about him because they replaced him. Eventually with Carson Wentz ended up winning a super Donovan McNabb did not put to Super Bowl trophies. In the case. That is the big. Yes. Right. Right. So because of that, I will always be appreciating. No question. But I'm seeing the appreciation level won't go up if they simply replace them with a franchise quarterback if they go through the wilderness again. Well, then yeah. Sure, you appreciate what I think looking. And look, I think I know how I would feel and YouTube. I beg to differ, then we'll maybe it is when I'm Bill comes back but know it'd probably I would take on bell if it was on Belen in Tonio Brown. Now I gotta deal with nonsense off the field as well. If feels like lady on bells issues are far more serious where you get suspended, where Tonio Brown, you know, you may have a Facebook video or something. This Facebook thing continues to haunt him like a member of the whole thing that. Okay, so he did a Facebook video one time God, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. You know a lot of baggage, Facebook video. The here is Mike Tomlin on looking forward to meeting Antonio Brown again. He was not. No, I'm looking forward to visiting with him today and discussing that and some other things. I'm not going to get into the details of why he wasn't here or whether he was excused in all of those things. I just as soon leave those things in house. Okay. They won't stay in house. Here's Mike Tomlin on factors that led to an Tonio Brown missing yesterday's practice. I understand. Sometimes it got some negativity, you know, we lost a football game. There was some negative exchanges on the sideline that's frustration associated with not playing well and not winning. I understand all that frustrate you went to same person over over again. I'm focused on real legitimate things. Okay. Seriously, we gave a few big plays. We'll plan a team. This big play capable, you know, we have won a game yet. You know those those little real things I mentioned they missed Bank just yesterday was Monday that until Neo Brown, missed practice. All right. We'll get two phone calls. Got our poll question. I believe the drama one or who do you wanna. Play for we go multiple poll question today. Let's go. Who would you wanna play for since we'll be a little Steeler heavy here. We're gonna talk to Ed bouchette of the Pittsburgh post gazette. I don't think Antonio Brown likes Ed bouchette. I'm guessing that whenever at is tweeting something about until Neo Brown 'Antonio Brown is not like that because chances are it's probably not something positive that he's tweeting. So Ed moosh it will join us coming up here fourteen after the hour. We'll get two phone calls here. And the poll question, who would you like to play for Bill Belichick or Mike? Tomlin. Got a stat of the day play of the day. All of that coming up here. Yes. Point we, we put up the first poll question. The NFL's drama leader, four minutes. Yeah, Steelers have eighty percent of the. Great. Show one appreciate it. Thanks for Scott Dixon, Rick Fox, Willie mcginest at bouchette, and also von Miller for calling into the show. Is it still the Pittsburg Steelers winning poll question the winless team that you should be the most concerned about remaining in the national football now up to thirty four percent. One is going on there by the way I have. I don't follow TMZ Ed bouchette does. I mean level is just partying. I mean he had an album release party last night and then was also seen two around on jets. I officially no longer saying into this microphone or anywhere else that Steeler should up his offer. I mean, that's just that is not the way to be dealing with the Pittsburgh Steelers. You gotta know you gotta know your audience and I understand that the Steelers have their one way of doing business, and I think they need to be more flexible, but this is I don't know what the answer is here, but that's definitely not. "Michael Strahan plus a little cruise ship dancer taking over social media. People are coming up to me and asking me for autographs kind of awkward. Right. Well, it's heavy more awkward now, Ellen today at three on NBC four. Imagine moving into a new home in hearing scratching screeching every night inside the wall hundreds of back. They just took over that. I had warning signs something could be lurking in your home today at five on NBC four. Ed bouchette Pittsburgh post gazette tweeted sources and Tonio Brown didn't show up for work on Monday. Uh-huh. Was he given the day off? Why are we just finding out about this now? Was the media not there on Monday. Mike Tomlin is going to speak in fourteen minutes from now. I'm going to guess that might be one of the first couple of questions here. Have you seen in Tonio Brown coach. Really? Yeah, paulie more of this. He was also upset during the law shocker on the day. And then there was a bit of a Twitter back and forth with a former Steeler employees where this employee was criticizing Tonio Brown. And how would he do with the offense? Well, he said that he's lucky that he's got Ben Rothlisberger. Yes and Antonio proudly kidding said, we'll trade me and find out, but then he tweeted that out yesterday whilst missing work. Why don't think he wants to be traded, but I think he was saying, you know, hey, you're, you really want to question me on my value with his team. The timing of it is interesting trade me and find out why. And there's always drama this team. They're just is, and I go back. I put it on Mike Tomlin. You know, you set the culture in there. You set the temperature as the head coat. You can't control everything. I get it, but and there's just so much that goes on here. That seems small. That becomes bigger here, but you're, you're tweeting. Do you really believe that if Antonio Brown didn't play in Pittsburgh that we would know about until Neo Brown or he would suddenly be a average better than average wide receiver, instead of e said, what four consecutive one hundred yard catches catch seasons. I'm going to guess in Tonio Brown would be able to replicate this in a lot of places. I feel like Ben's lucky to have Antonio Brown at this stage bench career. I think Ben is lucky that he has into Neo Brown. I think Ben is benefited from having good players. He had bus and Hines, ward, and those are hall of fame players. Antonio Brown appears to be headed to the hall of fame lady on bell. First round draft pick has been a very good running back when he was playing for the Steelers. So I think Ben has been very fortunate that they have surrounded him with very good offensive help. I don't know why Antonio Brown lowers himself gets into this stuff, but there's always a story with his team. Always season-long race comes down to who will claim the PGA towards Holtom. "You don't want to send me anymore. Pictures of Bridget winning done. I mean, she's a beautiful woman. Okay. So I was just basically reconfirming she was in the movie. I think she would get the edge over Giselle in most pulse that as far as people that were familiar with Coyote ugly anyway. Yeah, and Bridget Moynihan's very of. He's lovely. And Tyra banks was in Coyote, ugly was, yeah. I never saw the movie. Never saw finished season two of Ozark by the way. Wow. Full recommendation. Oh, yeah. Yeah. And I don't get this people say, hey, congrats on Ozark that they think I look like Jason Bateman. I mean, I'll take that. Yeah, but I don't look like Jason Bateman guy, a good looking dude. I see him and Michael j. FOX look a little bit of like I feel like we've thrown his name out when ESPN the movie. Jason Bateman could play. Yeah. If he could if they wanted to have somebody play me, Jason Bateman would be a good good call. Good cast. Yeah, I'd go for that. But yeah, season two, I would highly recommend those are offered. She's on the phone. All right, best and worst of the weekend poli eastern Michigan. Dan, the eagles great win at Purdue Riddick Winfrey surveyors, some bad coaching going on at Purdue or do gave that game away ten times. Wow. And your Maine black bears? Yup. Good football team up there in Maine. They were down twenty one zilch at the end of the first quarter of the western Kentucky at western Kentucky. They score thirty one answer to win thirty one twenty eight over the hilltop, Seton O'Connor. My sort of best e worst of the weekend is actually a Steelers running back James Connors, what's the story with his hair. I have no idea. You don't know? No, it's a fascinating. Yeah, it's fascinating. He's got the front half of it shaved, then there's two lines and then the back half of it. It's like sort of a mullet, but in extreme mullet I don't know. I don't know if that's going to catch on. I hope not. I was just wondering if there was like a, if that was just his personal choice or if he was being hazed or something, but that's well Ed bouchette from the Pittsburgh post gazette is set to join us, and that may is the lead story there at. Can you tell us what is the explanation behind James Connors, haircut. Well, Pittsburgh's a mullet kind of time. You know he's an old school guy? Yeah. We had long hair in high school. You went to high school up the which couple hours north of Pittsburgh, and he had long hair. You gotta cut after he was tackled by one day. But these growing it out again. Yeah. So if the Steelers had lost, what do you think the reaction would be? Well, people Pittsburgh think they did lose. If it wasn't raining so hard here, you know, all those bridges in town. I think they'd be lined up on those bridges jumping off because you know that getting tied by the Cleveland Browns when you have to touchdown lead in the fourth quarter doesn't sit well here. So truly th- they're, they're taking this as a loss. But you know, kinda fortunate to escape with a tie who who's getting a heat today. Ben Roethlisberger. You know, when you have five turnovers, you're gonna take the heat. He knows that he's a big guy, three interceptions, two lost fumbles sacks. One of the interceptions was not his fault went right through the hands of Jesse James, but nevertheless, he forced it in a triple coverage wants to two. And I think Antonio Brown ran the wrong way once on another one, but nevertheless that and, hey, Chris Boswell, he was Mr. clutch last year. He's in a forty two yard or wide lift. Yeah, also with James Connors performance, do you think that got lady on bills attention well, should have gotten his attention whether it motivates him to come in or not? Is another question Dan. We're just bouncing out around here jarring. Thank you. Know what's he gonna do is does that Pont him to come in or or what. You know, this happened a few years ago..

"Flory Hudson interesting thoughts on Pittsburgh. And what is next Ed bouchette covers the Steelers for the Pittsburgh post gazette kind enough to join us. I'm sure a busy day Ed. What's next in this situation? Dan, I'm just trying to write something about that. You know, Belkin come in at any time up to ten weeks and signed his franchise tag. They they'd have to take them unless they're going to resend it and they're not going to do that. But what's what? His teammates the way they reacted yesterday. Wonder what that whole thing is going to be. Like if he joins them anytime soon and you know they have to, they have to start using them, and that was what was the prising. It's rare. When players talk about other players teammates money, they may say it privately privately, but not publicly in here. You have the offense of line. I'm curious if Mike Tomlin is, you know, is there more toward him on this topic? Do you think today that when you guys get a chance to go in and talk to the Steelers? Is anybody talking about what they were talking about yesterday, what won't be for another hour to we can go in there game, but I think most of these guys are going to say, look, we said what we said yesterday, and that's going to be it. I mean, I've been allowed around these guys long enough these offense of Wyman here forever. And I just think that's what hobby will approach it. But they were angry because they, they believe he was gonna. Come in and now that he's holding out, it's it's, it's it's thrown wrench into their offense. A guy like Ramon foster who their their starting guard here for a long time is thirty two going into the last year of his contract. This may be his last chance to try and win a Super Bowl and he, he believes his, his teammates, hurt that. What's the likelihood of the Steelers trading Levy on bell. Well, the problem there is no other team can give him a long term deal. That's part of the whole thing. If he if he's traded, if they pulled the franchise tag, it'd be come a free agent. You make any kind of deal he wants. But if they trade him and of course he'd have to sign the deal and then trade, I'm so he'd have to have something worked out with his new team and you know, maybe they can get a wink, wink. You know, hey, we'll we'll we'll, we'll do this for you next year. But I, I don't know in this league. If if you know if he gets hurt or something else, they're not gonna sign him to a big deal next year that team, if it's a devastating injury. So there's no guarantee for him that way either. So I, I don't see a trade. Could you see a scenario where he sits out for nine games and then says, hey, I'm going to show up. And then the Steelers say, no, we're good without you lady on then that screws up free agency for him, doesn't it? Well, not really because he would be an automatic. He would become an automatic free agent and that's still only a little bit more than half the season. I'm sure there's a team out there who would be willing to give him a long term deal starting right now. You know what I mean? Let's say a contending team, like, wow, I don't know the forty Niners who need a running back. You know, they could sign them for five year deal for Bubba, blah. And that would be that and and push for the playoffs this year. Maybe he's the final piece that can that can do that. What if James Connor plays? Well. You you were thinking like the rest of us in that, of course, is there hope now. And actually Ramon foster said this guard said this to me yesterday one of four, eight, no, and he comes in and and Connors playing. Great. But what do we do? You know, we can't. We're not going to change everything for him. I think he would either be the backup or they would have to decide right then and there if they wanna then pull the franchise tag. This is my problem with the Steelers yet. And you've been around there a long time. This. This team finds drama or drama fines hit, right?.
