"Beautiful song Ed sharon's album is out. Shivers we have a new single from shivers. And we're going to talk to him here. And i believe that he is with us. So let's do this here. We go the one and only right. Ed how are you. Welcome to detroit actually not in detroit but welcome to tower show. That's on in detroit. We're doing good. I by the way you had me crying this weekend. I was well first off my favorite song on your album is visiting hours and thank you. My son actually sent it to me so my son said dad. I know you like a good cry. And he said. I think this song would remind you of you know grandma my mom who died when i was just a kid and i listened to the song like okay. I'll listen to the song. And i was going to starbucks i to sit in the parking lot of starbucks for about thirty minutes before to get my eyes to look like i wasn't stone but thank you. I failed that some came from such like pain and grief that i felt weird about putting out. But the it's been It's something nice thing not not not a nice thing. It's a beautiful thing to watch How people connect to and the youtube youtube comments of all my songs usually just like this. Like you know Ed ed said to the director. How many times do you want and the director said. Yes something like that. That's usually the each of the comments from visiting our paragraphs and para about some paragraph of people's stories and that connecting with other people have been through some little thing and like grief is such a. It's such a solitary thing at the time because you'll going through something trying to price from you don't want the outside world getting involved but then you suddenly realize that you know i got sick my i i have a friend that lost his mum A year ago and it was very difficult to speak to him on a level at the time. because i didn't know what he was going through and You know as soon as that my my friend passed away. I remember he came around my house for pine and spike about for the first time and it was Like mutual understanding of like. I feel your pain too. And i find that that releasing this song and i just feel that from from people. I look on look on youtube head about song. Just it's just. It's it's beautiful but i'm not. I'm not you when i say this to you. My mom has come to me in dreams almost every single night since listening to your song for the first time that that's really really kinda defame and thank you and i'm glad the i've just got that people connect you to you know release songs like bad habits and shivers and they're the ones that people radio and they wanna done and stuff. I really feel like music is important when it's connecting to people in the way that visiting hours making us. How close were you to retirement. I know that that came up a lot where a lot of people were wondering. If now that you have this family you want to spend more time on. You know not want to be away. Were you real close. Never it was never retirement. Because i feel like retirement like why would you retire though if you like. What working i i enjoy. I enjoy like i enjoy the i. I want to basically retired from caring. So i like i care whether people like my music like i read i. I do as much as i can. I signed cds. I go tour and blah blah blah. Like i can't like. I really do care if people like my stuff or not. So it's going to getting the point of being like should i. Should i retired from carrying and just just live at home and release music when i wanna released me. They can play a sheriff. I wanna a and going on the free and then yes so. That was. That was where i was at with it. Rather than like. I never gonna play music again but i'll tell you marriage and fatherhood suits you. We saw yet the vm. As looking all dapper in your verse sachi blazer and one of the things. I noticed that really stood out to me aside from how happy you look is. It seemed odd to see you backed by a full band. You know we've seen ed sheeran on tour so many times on just you and your guitar. And you're looping device. And i. I loved it i always thought it was great but it was a different flavor senior with background singers electric guitar in the background. And i figured this is going to be a different kind of tour. I imagine you inevitably do for this new album. Actually it well. I mean it will be a different so of But the band is more. Like i love playing with obama's but tv They don't really let me do pedal thing that takes they basically. Tv they go. You got three and a half minutes like use it. But like she she was on a pedal probably five minutes today. It was actually the first time i did saturday. Night live in twenty fourteen. I was going to go with a league pedal. They just said you on that. You have to say that now. when. I'm doing promotion i use. I use them for stuff. Just because that's the that's the time constraint. but yeah pedal is still Still going strong gotcha. Can we talk about ed. Sheeran as dad because your daughter is she did she just turn turn. She just turned one. So what tell me what has been what something about being a dad. That has really surprised you that you just not prepared for at all yukon emotion tied in with with the very much like i. It's it's kind of what people say that is. There's a lot of worry that this love the feeling of love that you've never felt like i saw it when people people kept saying. Oh you love you've never felt before and kind kinda like what does this names like. I'm gonna love the mona. My wife like what to do. And then and then you know the the the that that boom and you suddenly it just opens up this new portal. Where you're just like. Wow no. it's not beloved that we we know it's completely different things so that was a new experience but also like when she's upset i get upset when she's happy emotions safe. I didn't do it with your child. You know what i said to my wife. When i realized how much i love being a dad was when their poop didn't stink anymore. Like like truly. I became like so like oblivious to poop. You know what i mean like. Where before if another person's kid pooped it costs like get that kid away from me now. I was just going to say like what point. Doesn't it smell. But i know what you mean now. It's kind of bolivia it's my cat. We went we went on holiday The other day and We kind of had to just you know not not in not in the diaper. Just just shutting. 'em brown. Yeah it's it's. I know you're trying to clearly keep your daughter grounded with a normal childhood. You went off. And i mean you married in secret and had a child and we found out after the fact but i imagine as you get together with a new tour. You're going to bring the family with you now. But that doesn't necessarily mean letting my world into their life either. I mean the reason. I got married in in secrets cherry. A celebrity like should should why people know when wedding is like she. She didn't she didn't sign up for this. she's married. she married me. He did like i. I.

"Game is ready. Sweep sinai's you. I mean you you've been you've been in suffolk for very long time now but. Is there anything about london that you miss or do you. Do you have to come here enough that you have to miss. What i love about london now is that i do enjoy being that whereas when i lived there fulltime i didn't enjoy. I felt kind of trapped. Because there wasn't i was. I didn't really go out a lot but that was kind of my own. Doing is all that was just a win paranoia of being thinking that people can more than they did. But when i am now living in suffolk and dip into london. I go to london for like a night and i'll go to one of those restaurants so or go and see a friend or blah blah blah. And then i'll go straight back greedy. Enjoy those experiences Yeah i just feel like. I'm boy i feel like it's this is. This is where. I feel most comfortable and also because i grew up around everyone here i mean i'm i'm talking. Everyone people that in all the shops in town and people in the public know everyone. So there's no witness either so it's good. Yeah i can imagine. That is just yeah. It feels comfortable and it's like oh those ads. Yeah of course at who. We knew when he was ten. So that's fine. Yeah i can just relax well. And they don't yeah. There's basically nothing that they can gain from being weird or not where it's just a. It's a very casual conversation. I can go. I can go into the pope. And i see people look whereas in in london is a bit more long and i guess i wonder whether now having a duta because i know that i felt fumble protective of my children soon. And where would you had them yet. Because i don't really get packed. And also i've got. I think i do something better. Yeah i do. I love it fantastic but what i think. I've got like a thing where they have to blow out their face if they are going to get paps. I did something with my lawyer. That they would never be allowed to show their face. We that in england's but that doesn't that isn't in. America can do whatever they want in america and then those pinches is as you know like it doesn't matter if it's on line when the daily mail shed on twitter at shed on instagram and blah blah blah. It's yeah it's i find it a very strange thing just the concept of a man who you. Don't you taking a picture of your infant kid. I find that concept i remember. I was on the beach with my friend's son and his son was like two and naked oversee running in the sea and pat was taking pictures of us. And i was like what world is right for. Someone's take a picture of a naked job. I mean he's not that. I i just find it. So it's so strange and intrusive lyra go pats. Maybe like she was four weeks old and there was a dude sitting outside. It wasn't even a lund. Basically the house. I used to have london his manages office and he was lying down in his car. Basically hiding and just taking pictures and taking lyra like first checkup. And it's just. I just found it really creepy. And it's vague. It's fair game when it's me. I've signed up for answers to degree cherry. Signed up for it. She's she's married into this life. And but i just find it weird with kids. It's just a bit me. yeah. I think it's suicide. People are people are so interested in how you are. I mean there's the photo this photo thing so there's like how fans people that see you perceive you as a parent and you they will see. Maybe your child having attention for a second. And then they'll be a chair in the sheriff Deliver nightmare. And i find that. Really like it's kind of your scrutinized and so therefore he likes on this definitely. There's definitely baby police out there as well. We we were in australia. We got but we knew that there was a guy following us and we just wants to take liar out on a walk so we re thin like hang vova thing not say oh he came in and all were doing was for the money. It was also freezing and raining but all we were doing was basically covering this display. Didn't get pitch. Yeah so you and cheri you. Now get the best matt. Eight o'clock and nine nine thirty. That's like she and nearly riser lyra. Yes she's still wake up in the night. She used to wake up every few hours. She wakes up like maybe four and go back down till six and then we're not. We eat breakfast together. Yeah we we kind of eat the same thing. I make i oates. Yeah baby wherever. And i break up a banana and put in some formula milk and kinda mix it up and then. I'll have porridge as well so we saw. So you eat as a family so i. I'm always really jealous of the body. Kids that they eat spinach. And like i've seen it. He's everything he does. he repaid. Thank laura spinach is oh jesse carries on and she doesn't reject to beige food in about six months. That's always going to happen with kids. Though is i the only vegetables as it was peace owning and cucumber. i won't go cucumber from my birthday. That's how my parents would never gave me more than like little chunk and save them time for my birthday. I was like a whole cucumber. And i just had it and just as i love at when we spoke to you lost. We talked about your sunday lunch. Your mom's house with lines dine today. Is Ed Sheeran Planning to Drop SEVERAL Albums?

"Ed sheeran's manager stuart camp sat down with variety for a revealing interview where he hinted what ed's next out with sound like and confirmed discussions for a huge world tour thankfully hitting north america. That could leave on the road for quite some time. Typically when artists like ed embarks on such a massive tour. We won't see any future albums from them until the end of their run on the road but this time things might be different stewart tells variety we'll be shoring if we're allowed to for two to three years and there may be more records in that period. I'd imagine there'll be two more albums within that cycle because this record took so long to make. We genuinely have a lot of song so could happen relatively quickly if it wanted to. He could literally release an album acoustic ballads. Tomorrow it's great news for ed fans a tour and a lot of music coming soon. Bad habits is out

"I'd get up in the morning i'd so it goes to the gym and then i'd have like two hours to try and write a song and then i'd kind of go about my day. I did them did a lot of carpentry stuff building like you colin cribs we call them carts and stuff like that just like preparing lawyers or no so i kinda had my day structured like that but then when like i wouldn't say when the country up because she never really opened up a win. Pcr testing came in I was able to get my producer. Joni pcr tests and then he moved into my house and then we started like actually Really focusing on the record he got more serious about it there so i assume that the single is is. The is the first song of new album. Yep and how much of. That album was inspired by the baby. And how much was inspired by just the craziness of the world in the last year. So this probably like two or three songs inspired by the. I wouldn't say like baby songs. But as like there's one like the opening of the album connor hints to it Just being like this is my life now But i've written like one song four liar but the rest of i mean a lot of it to be honest like i had a. I had a friend away in march. And i never like experience real grief. I'd like grandparents pass away. But i feel like when you're young. You're like my grandparents are going to die because my other friends grandparents. It's like quite a normal thing and it's really sad when it happens but you so prepared for it by how to make that just passed away very unexpectedly and i it was the same time is becoming dads and same is turning thirty and it was the first time i didn't feel young anymore. I felt like this is like i feel like an adult now at these like all of these things that i'm going through like adult things so yeah that a lot of the record is about that i'm just how how they will down hours feeding. Ju just yeah just just about processing all of that. I think did you have you seen ricky vases series afterlife. You're talking about a man. Yeah dude i like. I spent took me so long to watch afterlife because i would watch an episode and just like hysterically carlyle for like two thousand another one a couple of months and then i'd go back and watch another one the same thing i mean it's just beautiful. Shy sperry like very heavy but it's also funny. It's just. It's one of the things that people that have dealt with grief. I recommend that everyone speaking of tv shows. You were sort of part of the friends reunion and you did a bunch of stuff around that how how surreal was all of that. Well i mean. I think the my surreal thing with massive friends from the most surreal. Thing was in twenty third. Seen getting brought to a barbecue at courtney cox his house and then her just being like oh you can just crash and then just not leaving then just you know like a year eight.

It's a little early here. You in england right now. no. I'm in new york all your off so it's not as early as we're out here on the west coast a little early but Always literally just in west coast Yesterday just landed nice well. First of all congrats on becoming a dad. How's how's fatherhood treating you. Yeah mine is just such a change of lifestyle. I think for the for the bets. Like i've i've not being poetry boy twenty year old anymore because of responsibilities and stuff is actually really good. Yeah when you're responsible for someone else you have to change what you're doing which leads us to your new single which is called bad habits. You dropped a lot of those so tell me about this song. The song it's basically. I mean the kind of theme of it is how Everyone has bad habits and each bad habit leads to the next one so in my mind. That's kind of like you know it's friday night you're going out for dinner with a friend and in your mind you go. I'm going to have one beer. Unlike a salads or something like that and then fast forward it's like four. Am you'll like chicken sandwich. During tequila out you mates bellybutton. You know like everything needs to end. It becomes like it gets going very quickly and then out of hand before you know it. Yeah so in the song. I say One of the lyrics is every pure intention ends when the good time stop because he basically goes through the night being like. I'm going to be in bed by nine. And then i mean sometimes you are in bed by nine but more than pm. Yeah exactly. what was the moment sort of in the panic. Because i was reading that you you know you dropped a lot of these bad habits. A lot of it had to do. I think with becoming a dad but was there a moment where you're like man. I gotta make a change..

Once Your Bad Ideas Are Out, Your Good Ideas Are Free To Flow

"Singer. Ed sheeran says that the reason he's able to write so many great songs is because he also writes so many bad songs so many horrible soames. That's part of his creativity process. His process is to make sure that he gets the bad ideas out of system. The bad songs of system so that the good ideas are then free to flow. He talks about it like a water pie. Where all of the good ideas. Bad ideas are in the same pipe. You've just got to let that pipe open and let it all flow out good ideas and bad ideas you let the bad ideas out first and then the good ideas will stop become lighter. There's also suggestion that you stop to do some patent matching some pattern recognition internally. Once you come up with a bad idea you put it out there. You realize it's a bad idea. You realize why was perhaps a bad idea and so then subconsciously. Even perhaps you. You're able to patent match those ideas that all those elements of an idea that make it a good idea so if you are struggling with creativity which i think a lot of do part of your problem probably is the. You're not letting the bad ideas out. You're not willing to have the bad ideas. You're not willing to have the bad songs to have. Those non created things. Come out of you but you have to. Let's do the chart chat I up on the billboard hot one hundred songs chart for the fourth straight week in a row. We've got a brand new number. One Single. As Megan the stallion savage featuring beyond say jumps from number five to number one how the track added beyond say to a new remix a few weeks ago and the song has seen great returns ever since it just had to wait a moment until it had its chance at number one is the first number one were. Megan congrats to her and the seventh number one for beyond say Who lasted number one with another collaboration if you recall when she similarly assisted another song well after it's released when she hopped on Ed Sheeran's perfect? That song hit number one. In December twenty seventeen savage replaces day and Justin bieber's charity single stuck with you which debuted at number one a week ago That song actually falls to number thirteen this week before that DOJ cats is say-so between the montage lead for a week. And then a week before that. The Scots from the Scots Travis. Scott and kid cudi's ruled for one week so that is the fourth week in a row. Where a collaboration hit number one and that comes after thirty two straight weeks or the number one song was by a Solo Act. So when it rains it pours. I'm could we see another collaboration takeover next week number one? Well time will tell if lady Gaga Ariana Grande as new rain on me. We'll debut atop tally so stay tuned to billboard DOT COM. We have a lot more up on coming up on rain on me before that elsewhere on the new hot one hundred in terms of new pop singles. Jonas brothers new single x featuring carol. Gb's at number thirty three. I really like that song a while. Katy Perry's daisies debuts at number forty and that is the first single from her next album which we discussed last week I was GonNa ask you what you thought of the show Bro. Carol G Song I like it. I think it is Kinda cute to considering. They had to do it in lockdown but they may do pretty well considering the circumstances. Yeah just just really quickly I. I think that I've been impressed by how the Jonas Brothers Post happiness begin. Singles have not been phoned in at all. Like what a man's gotTa do and And now ex have had actually sounded really top notch from them so they're just kind of continuing that that positive momentum from last year. Yeah it's it's it's pretty great. I'm all I'm all in for it. I'm I'm all for it next step over on the billboard. Two hundred albums chart future scores his seventh number one album seven number ones. Jeez as high off life bows top. The list with one hundred fifty three thousand equivalent album units in the US earned in the weekend. Dean May twenty-first according to Nielsen Music. M R. C. Data. Now that's futures biggest week in terms of units earned for any of his solo had drake collaboration. Once that was obviously a lot bigger but still for for for a solo album. It's his biggest week. So congrats to future most of high off life starting some was actually driven by streaming tippety with sixteen thousand of its first week coming from album sales and those sales were largely driven by merchandise album. Bundles sold via futures web store. And also some signed albums that he was selling through the same store and unlike last week's number one album Now's good intentions. Which we talked about on last week's show which had one hundred merch bundles. Helping its first week. Future only had a handful relative handful. Just seventeen helping his first week so congrats to future and next week. It actually looks like another rap. Album could lead the list At least in terms of early forecasting it looks like Ghana's new album WANNA might start atop the list and if it does start at number one it would mark gunness first number one album. Would you call that a number one for Ghana a WANNA GONNA a one hundred WANNA on never mind? Oh boy. I like that album a great deal. Well let's talk about rain on me. Man. It came out last. Friday may twenty second one week ahead of the release of Gaga Matica? And I can't love it more. I love this song. I tweeted yesterday that I listened to it three times when I was on a jog. It gave me a lot of you know a lot of inspiration. What do you feel about rain on does it? Did it give you life where you screaming? Ask the top of your lungs as you were jogging. I mean internally I was for sure I you know I'm I'm all in on a dance pop Kaga you know and and I again as we talked about repeatedly on the show this year like the fact that dance pop and disco. Pop is making this return it. I think it's awesome and I think I think people are are rightfully excited by new Gaga

Our Alternative Academy Awards The Oscars Show

"Guys. Welcome to a very special conversation. Nations show about the Academy Awards but not just any Academy Awards are Academy Awards. were changing things up in the big picture this week. We've invited wisely from the New York Times we think for being here. Thanks for having me. Three Person Person Academy that makes us the Grammy Selection Committee. Hopefully less fraught less racist racist sexist and complete Taylor swift at Ed. Sheeran her part of my mom and I want the academy to tell the truth about who it is fun. Fact Taylor swift and Ed Sheeran had movie moments in the last twelve months. If you recall cheering yesterday Taylor Swift. Of course Miss Americana could forget. we're not going to be nominated for you said Miss Americana Either GonNa cats. That was yeah. That's very generous of you sir. I've locked that out we. We're not talking about that on this. PODCAST CAST now. We got the part right. Okay guys so every year the Oscars come around get very angry because they don't represent all the movies that we want to to be celebrated this year I would say it's been an unusually positive Oscar year in terms of nominations. However we got stuck in this conversation about why are there no female directors in the best director category? Why are there so few actors of color? Why are there so few uncut gems nominations are there so many things here we may? They disagree with that. We will discuss. I'm I'm your evolving. I'm evolving exactly the way to put it all evolving. Wesleyan a minute can you guys. Just give me coming some big picture feelings about where the Oscar nominating process is before we dig into our own awards well Without going into the Math Jeff on how the nomination determined at least in the best picture category whatever they did to make them less foreign needs to change because in addition just like I just wrote a piece for the paper Abou a complicated problem I have with. This year's show is the first time more. I'm I feel like the homogeneity among the best picture nominees just superficially is Kinda monotonous to me. What do you mean but up I mean basically what I mean. Is that lake. There are nine move. Eight movies about white people And like the the white experience yes there is a wide experience. PODCAST is often expanding on and in one from Korea or South Korea. And I I like all of these movies except for one and a half of them and so so. The thing that I am annoyed about is that there isn't it is not as though there's one movie that didn't get nominated that should have that also featured Richard people who are not white so my problem is more of an industry. Problem in the Oscars of course is a symptom of this larger thing. And so I'm Kinda just. I went back just to do some math on on on. How many movies among the nominees for best picture since they expanded ten were set the present and usually I mean the thing? That's thrilling about the best picture. Nominees every year is that you do get some really interesting story that gets told about the movie industry but also just the movies and something about this collection of movies as a collection as a class of films kind of bores me and but again like I like most of the nominees and so I don't know it's a weird place but they they have to change them. I think the man is part of this like even I don't like Hustler's that much but you this. This group of movies needs it. Needs it needs needs like a blindside. It needs a district District nine yeah. It needs a district night but you think that so. That's I think it's math don't you because don't what's the one film that would have resolved some of that feeling. Is that the farewell. Like what is it. I don't even see that's the weird thing also. I don't even care care what it was because I don't like any of the alternative. This is weird year for for the solution to this problem. There isn't one. There's no main waves. Waves would be a movie that would that would be more interesting but every year since they expanded ten has had just more interesting stuff. It I have a theory and it's not about math and I think your point about math is good and also your point that this is these are eight movies about white people is also important. uh-huh any everything we're about to say is not going to change that but I do just and it's not GonNa Change the industry and it's not GonNa Change. WHO GETS to make movies? Unfortunately but I do wonder if some of it is also like our expectations and our relationship to the nominees because we're used to being dissatisfied and we're used to findings something that to be mad about and since they've gotten to ten and especially in the last couple of years years. There are more movies that I'm excited about that are nominated for best picture. And even this year I would say they're five movies like jazzed about same same here and I'm not used to that and so I do think and and we're part of doing this podcast and talking about the Oscars is arguing talking about what was snubbed. And what the economy isn't representing. and I wonder if some of the boringness is just kind of. I don't know where to put all of that energy for what interesting that I hear that that particular aspect of this year's race though I think is an anomaly. I think there's two reasons for at one. We we just happen to get a couple of films from a couple of people who kind of always make big noisy special films. Martin Scorsese Quentin Tarantino. We got a couple of movies marriage story and the Irishman that probably would not have been financed by any other studio that got a lot more money than they would have gotten and so those movies got pushed up to the top. You know I know you guys probably not huge joker Fans but that's a highly unusual kind of movie to have been made in the way that it was position. Marketed the success that had had and also the parasite thing is. There's just no literally literally no precedent for a movie like this getting this much awareness appreciation potentialities to win The the fact that this is impossible right now is was utterly unpredictable. Even even in September I ran so I think accounting for this year in particular as a bellwether of any kind and is a little bit difficult long term. But the point that you're making one hundred percent right which is that you know. There's a certain kind of movie that still is always going to get made in Hollywood and there's a certain kind the movie that it's still really hard to get made that's movies by women's moving movies by filmmakers of color starring people of color about different kinds of experiences in the world. So that's not going to change. I think some of what we're we're GONNA do here accounts for that. I think some of the categories that were creating accounts for that. Yes I think. In general though the public perception of the Oscars is it's a little bit. Stodgy it's a little bit boring self-satisfied but also it doesn't really understand what's fun about movies no well that's part of I mean to the degree agree that there is a selection committee. It's People's self consciousness about their with. They want their tastes to be. Yes yeah and that to me is part of what I'm sensing about this group. The best picture nominees though I feel like I do feel like despite the fact that I actually could not subtract one of these movies or there's a ten slot at the tenth movie like what I mean. You could additive movie proud interesting lake. Ed Lee said in the president and at least about the thing that is seemingly the problem by gathering these movies together race Which member of the knives out family is each? That's a good game that somewhere. Oh I like that. We don't have to answer that right now but just trying to think of the Google anyway I but I but I also think that part of the problem. I think some of the things that I'm feeling is this. I mean I don't know it seems like a revenge against the way things seem to be going. Otherwise yes but you can't prove that a and I mean I'm arguing against my own myself right now but it's unprovable. It's just a feeling that I have a feels like every time they do these blind surveys of these academy members. There's always somebody who's like well. I don't think we have a diversity problem. I just think the movies that Star Wall you know other people uh-huh aren't as good as the ones right or even just that was nice. But it's not an Oscar film which covers all manner of sentence and that shows up in. Everyone knows that there is an Oscar film which there's been an Oscar film since like nineteen thirty nine like that's part of the problem. Yeah I don't know when it got so not. How did you no one team seventeen despite how much I love? It smells ker movie. It is twenty when I was fifteen. I did not think that was pejorative. In fact I thought that that was was meaning really really meaningful. My perception of it is changed or self conscious about it. That's an parasite actually wins. I'm going to feel really freaked out. Because does that mean that I'm basic because is the movie that I want to win also won the Academy Award. I just called aging. Yeah well I don't know I don't feel the way by moonlight. Yeah now more so feels like the exception and to me even though I mean in a weird way. Here's a good test of this of this question. The departed. I always think about the idea that departed is a best picture winner. You know what I mean. I think if the departed was directed by Guy Ritchie though it would have had no chance at the Oscars yes of course. The Scorsese. Only the Scorsese UNISOM did that but just looking at it. As a movie rate lake. That was the best picture of what was it. Two thousand six six. I just it just kind of. It's a funny thing. It's a funny thing that wasn't i. I wasn't the best movie of that year. Obviously are not obvious. It's funny that you bring that up. We actually just talked talked about that. Exact movie a couple of days ago show in that movie yeah. It's a totally fun and slightly. You need us. Yes Oh sure. Yeah what what other the way. I don't know actually actually. Actually what's going on with Matt Damon in that movie. Congratulations him okay. So if we were going to change James the telecast a little bit What what there was talk of this last year? About modifying the telecast. But I don't want to modify the telecast per se but I think that there's some categories that maybe we don't needed some categories and maybe we do need okay. I'm personally I just don't believe that. The shorts need to be in the Academy Awards No one watches them their unseen by the by the public at large. Are You mad at that. You want the short sustain gas. I do why I don't know but the idea. We will not a part of the rest of the conversation but is that really how it works. I mean I'm but you're talking to the wrong person and a win aware like I actually wish they had brought. I want to see the best bluegrass album winter. I WANNA see best. Okay I WANNA see best. Best Ja- best traditional jazz album. I WanNa see that person person win. You're in dangerous territory women. I personally would like there to be a nine hours. Oscar ceremony right. Amanda wants to get through this fairly quickly vision show. You're saying it's its own not work of art. But it's least its own entity that needs to have a start and a finish on a structure and momentum and energy we can't just like trot got out every single movie clip that Sean is like for the past seventy years and then let's talk about this cinematography. I'm and this one's like to the telestrator up with the old Oscar broadcast that were nobody really. There was no Internet for people to run to and complain. I mean it just ended when it ended and it was full of supporting clips. I mean for a lot of America. They didn't know who Pauline Collins was. They wanted to see like surely Valentine. What does that clip? This is good so you get a clip Pauline Collins Acting Shirley. Valentine know what you get is a weirdly spliced moment of an actor doing the most over the top contacts list part of a movie you have. If you don't know where Iran Iran remember. The record sharon set was for the gross intake from ticket sales which you might think means. He's just charging more for tickets. Well you'd be wrong. His tickets are not like priced. Extremely high especially compared smells other towards you know. I mean he did it. Through sheer numbers millions of people coming out to see him at huge venues across across north america europe australia south america and asia in setting the record sharon played two hundred and forty six shows in just three years which which leads to the obvious question. What is a tour anyway. How's it tour defined. Basically represents an album cycle for ed now does he take breaks yes but we consider it a billboard a continuous tour brooks's sharon has this knack for figuring out where his support was strongest and playing multiple shows. They're even in parts of the world where most artists might play once if they're lucky him and his team are able to you know use tools like spotify defy and other kinds of dad tools to see where their fans are most prehistoric rely on you know were radio and records sales weren't always as has accurate that targeted look and as billboards dave brooks reminds us yearns not done yet that big pile of money will keep growing until his tour ends later eight this month.
