"Radio for a really great future. We're talking real money. All right, Tom, you gotta do the rest of this hour. I'm sorry, I have to leave. I just realized. Okay. Ready to go. Turns out. You all know I live in Florida, right? Now this will only be relevant to those listening live. If you're listening to the podcast that's already happened. But at 5 55, we in the show at 5 p.m. eastern. 2 p.m. Pacific are at two 55 Pacific time. SpaceX is launching one of their big honkin rockets. The Falcon Heavy, the Falcon Heavy, which is like huge, and it's at 5 55, it's 55 minutes after the show, and to drive from my house to port canaveral, is an hour in ten minutes. They got a hustle a bit. Look at them make it. We tried that once. Remember when I was there? Yeah. And they canceled it. I was disappointing. Really sad. My career. They canceled the launch. Look, I'm putting all of you first, because you're going to launch. You know what's cool though? I wanted to see the boosters. The boosters land. They come back and land, and it is cool. But not today. You go any time. No, I'm going to I'm sticking it out because this is important stuff. Like, you know, like the whole business of managing money is discussed on this show. The way things change and we have talked for years and years about the fiduciary duty of advisers. Now because it's all the rage, every adviser claims to be a fiduciary, and the Securities and Exchange Commission a couple of years ago required everybody who gives financial advice. Well, not everybody, not insurance agents, but all the brokers and registered investment advisers and all to provide a thing called a well, it's under a thing called reg BI, best interests. And if you're not familiar with that, don't feel bad, because nobody knows. But red BI was supposed to, supposed to. Require brokers to act in the customer's best interest. Not as a fiduciary, but I don't know what the SEC. Talk about parsing language. The other guys who miss Bernie made off, remember. They came up with not once. Not three times, not four times. Whatever it was. They came up with this goofy idea that brokers should act in your best interest, but they don't have to act as a fiduciary. So what's the difference? None. Well, in 2023, now they're going to start cracking down on the best interests standard that they weren't enforcing before they probably won't force now. Start laughing now, but I'm not feeling very funny. But here's how it's supposed to work. Your broker, that guy at Ed Jones or Morgan Stanley or ameriprise. Whatever the heck out there is, you know, all of them there guys. They are supposed to on every transaction. They were supposed to do this before, but now they're going to get, they're going to supposedly get in trouble if on every deal they don't tell you. What conflict of interest they might have, and in the conflicts of interest that are spelled out in the regulation, one of them is not disclosing fees and commissions. So you're saying they are going to have to do that. They're supposedly going to have to do that in advance of making the sale. Now, my reading of that says, you need to be given a perspective before you invest. Usually they send them out after. Yeah, you click the button and then it comes the used to come in the mail. I don't think they even do that. But they're supposed to my thinking as they should tell you, but they won't. But at least there's now if you aren't, if it's not disclosed to you, I guess it does at least give you some opportunity to come back after them after the fact. What do you think? Well, I don't think much. You know when all this started? Department. You know how far back this goes? No. What year that was? No. When was that? 2000 and a 1009. Boy, do they drag their feet? That's 14 years ago. Dude. You know, I don't do I think this is going to change anything not much. No, I think you're still going to get bad stuff sold to people, still going to get high expense. Mutual funds, et cetera, get sold to people, and they always they'll bury it somehow. And I got, by the way, don't forget to read this. Thanks. Thanks for being a client. Goodbye. Yeah. And they will. They're going to bury it. And that's why we want we want to talk about this because if you think the government is going to protect you from anything, think again. I think that's another thing that came out of the Madoff thing. You can not connect, you can't plan on them doing that for them. It came out of the Purdue pharma thing. Exactly. You know, there was this horrible problem with opioids, and the FDA was totally aware of it, and yet the guys that Purdue pharma are good guys. We like them. It's the problem with this is a bigger problem overall. Because I'm going to mention the FAA here in the insurance industry. It's with the financial industry regulators with the drug regulators, it's as Tom's going to say with the FAA, the problem is that the regulators know that their future is not with the with the agency for which they work. Their children is in the insurance industry. The brokerage industry, the pharmaceutical industry, pal around with. They were them. Yeah, they want to work in those industries. So you're going to tick off somebody and a pharmaceutical company or a big brokerage firm? No. You won't get the job. It's infuriating. It isn't variating, and again, at the end of the day, this like everything else you have to take the time to educate yourself enough. To protect

in business with Barry rid holds on Bloomberg radio My extra special guest this week is Michelle sites She is the chairman and chief executive officer of Russell investments They run over $331 billion as well as advising on $2.8 trillion and trade nearly $3 trillion a year They're one of the largest managers in the world previously she spent 21 years at William Blair investment management where she served as both chief executive and chairman of WB funds So I want to talk about the transformation you've helped to affect at Russell but I have to start with your time at William Blair from whence you were recruited to Russell What was that process like How did you come to realize hey I've enjoyed my time at Blair but Russell looks kind of interesting Well I would say that when I was approached about a role at Russell it happened organically in slowly I had known TA associates which is one of the private equity firms that invests and sponsors Russell For quite a long time and then like many things in life it happened slowly And then all at once and it was ultimately one of the hardest decisions that I've ever made And I would say first because I enjoyed my time at William Blair immensely after 20 plus years it becomes part of the fabric of who you are and we grew together As a team we had a 5 fold increase from 2001 when I took over and drove it with our team a phenomenal team who were close personal friends today To over 75 billion when I left a 5 fold increase and took a startup institutional business that was only a few couple of $1 billion to 28 fold increase So it was a it was a tremendous tremendous ride And I was ready for the for a new challenge and it was incredibly exciting but it was a it was a very difficult decision to make It's been a great decision in retrospect but I always remind myself to be comfortable with being uncomfortable and I would say that was one of those times for sure So let me ask you a question about a quote of yours I've interviewed a number of female CEOs over the years Christine Hart sellers of Voya Jean Heinz at Wellington Catherine Keating at BNY Mellon penny Pennington at Ed Jones but you had a quote that really caught my ear which involved the rarity and responsibility of your position Could you explain what you mean by that What is the rarity in responsibility of a female CEO in the financial services industry Well I would say first you know we all know it's a rarity There are all of the women you mentioned plus many many more Are coming through the ranks Kate L hillo I would mention as well My global CIO that I was proud to bring on board from Goldman So I'm very I think we're even in more rarefied air to have a woman CEO and a woman CIO Running a major investment institution So I'm excited about that But she was the best person for the job And I think the responsibility is to give voice to authenticity and to certainly learn from every leader and person that you come across and I've had the great benefit of being surrounded by mostly men but wonderful mentors and important leaders And my approach I felt very self assured in but it was very uniquely mine and I think the responsibility is to ensure that you're leading in a way that's authentic to you but I do believe that it makes it it makes it a more inclusive conversation It makes it more focused on outcomes and purpose and I'm not saying that that's a gender specific thing But I do believe that operating in a manner that takes into account the responsibility of the seat is incredibly important Historically finance has been wildly under representative of both women and people of color and it's been a long slow transition but it's pretty clear that it's been changing it's still behind where it should be but there can be little doubt that it is so much better than it was when I started my career 25 or so years ago Coming up we continue our conversation with Michelle sites Russell.

I could literally continue to go because just the week before that there was two on one day one on a different day and then about two weeks before that there was one eric. Determine was a guest on the show and he spent some time. Thank you tammy. Spent some time talking about the stagefright problem that she's had and how she's been able to overcome it because the podcast ed jones writes that he's starting a pot in the near future and that this podcast provided him with a lot of really good resources. We've got john or johnny is at joanie daimler or john. I m ller. i'm not sure so. Forgive me when we put all the letters together especially a dyslexic person. Like me will have a challenge with this one says. Thank you for the pop. Adam helped pop by the way. I say this quite frequently on the podcast. I always call this podcast. Pop so some of you probably heard that. I haven't yet said it on this episode. So if you're new to the show and you've never heard pop before it just means podcast on podcasting p. o. p. So this one says thank you adam. Thank you to the pop. Adam helped me not just with the equipment and technology of podcasting but also with mechanics. I needed to make it work and flow easier and make it simpler to succeed. Listen to episode. Sixty one to know what i'm talking about. So rather it's john or joanie who wrote that he or she talked about episode sixty one. So i don't know what's episode sixty one. It's not memorized. So scroll down. Grab episode sixty one so you can also learn the mechanics and the flow and make it simpler for you to succeed in the technology and equipment from john. Joni all right. I am going to stop reading these reviews for today. I've read like six of them. And i will let you know a. I'm about to get to that part where i told you in the teaser. If the beginning of the episode that we're going to be able to give away a lot of stuff like we're really giving away some stuff and you're probably going to win. It's not like a one thousand chances most likely going to be better than a one in five chance. You're probably gonna win right. You probably going to win. This is not like a one in one hundred one in thousand thing. Let's just start there. So i'm going to stop reading these read like six and i'll let you know that i'm going to start reading some of these on the air and the way that you win is you'll be added to be able to win one of these awesome packages that we have and we do. You'll be able to be added to it by just doing the review the written rating and review. And if you hear yourself it like if you hear me read your review then you actually get three times more votes so basically it works like this. You ride rating review. You get the vote you hear me. Read your rating and review online. You get three more entries. And i'm going to start doing this. Where every single month every month. I'm going to pick at least two winners every single single single month like literally every month. So here's the thing you wanna have one entry leave an honest rating review by the way when you do that. Just say whether or not you have a podcast. Say i wanna start my podcast and you'll be entered to win things to help launch a podcast. If you say already got a podcast you'll either get free editing free marketing for six months right so let me share that with your right now. Exactly how it's gonna work. You're gonna leave an honest review awesome. You get an entry. you're going to hear me. Bring your rating in review on air awesome. You get three more entries then every single month. Draw two names. Who gets to win these packages. If you don't yet have your podcast we're going to help you launch it this month. If you already have a podcast you either get marketing for free or editing. So with that said you know how to enter the first time an honest rating interview. Now you should also know to get more entries. You just let me know you. Yeah it is a switch There was A pretty Two three year run of not so good football In south haven. But they've turned things around their six and three this year well What else we got. What else we got In the division six water league at constantine and then also in that district so basically who they might play next michigan center is ed jones ville What else do we got. City brandy wine May just just skating into the playoffs there at four and five Decatur at white pigeon saga talk at kazaa. And that's about it as far as some of the ones that we We really care about if you wanna go check out that list of some of the other ones in our region and and seeing all that you can check it out at wfan. Sports dot com exciting love playoff football. I love playoff football because this is where things get interesting and one i mean interesting is not only the games and the match ups but weather is a big factor for the playoffs. I know One year when i played High school football the playoffs. We had It wasn't cold but it was windy. There was like forty five mile. An hour wind gusts not much passing. No not much passing. Not much punting actually won. I think at one point our punter punted. It and the wind was so bad that the ball went up in the air and literally stopped and then came backwards and he caught his own punt. Oh my gosh. i don't honestly didn't even know what to do. I don't know the rule book all that well to know. Hey you can. I think you can run. That i think can i. It's like a pass to yourself. I guess is that happened. there there's a nfl player years ago. That made a touchdown pass to himself. Brad johnson when he was playing for. I think it was the vikings. Okay he the ball got tipped and he ended up catching it and then going into the end zone so he passed himself. Weird things happen Here's some other weird things that Love to love to fill my brain with useless knowledge. I've got some great things for you this morning. Did you know that there have been one thousand nine hundred ninety four people elected to the us senate in history and only eleven of those are african. american Eight were elected in the past thirty years seven. Democrats and one republican South carolina's tim scott Here's some other things. Although air traffic has been down during the pandemic typically at any given moment there are approximately this nine thousand seven hundred planes carrying one point two seven million people in the sky. And we're talking about flying cars. Could you imagine how many more issues we're going to deal with We don't need those years. I don't like the traffic on the roads let alone trying to have people fly. That's a horrible idea. I rather. I'd rather sit in a driverless car before i sit in a flying car. Yeah it'd be cool to fly over the ocean in my car. But i just don't know if i've got to deal with other people other drivers and other flyers in the air and it's all on autopilot and everybody avoids everybody but that's also something that could go wrong to airliners you know they use autopilot. Two guys are sitting right there and they're making sure everything's good So we'll see i i. The future is coming faster than we think. And we will have all that stuff driverless cars and all those different things probably rather soon. Yeah yeah i was. I was listening to a podcast about a guy that was in one of those We've we've talked about the other day. Waymo where it's a driverless car and It's down there testing this all out down in in arizona. Oh okay actually. Joscelyn's uncle works for company Intel and he helps work with the chips. And all the technology within those driverless cars and he said there there's still some kinks to work out. Some things are moving pretty well. That stuff A it's pretty neat. I honestly we're at this day and age that pretty soon The next probably the next couple generations of kids won't have to take drivers because they'll just get into driverless car. That's i mean you've got cars that don't have two parallel. You don't have to parallel park. They use hit zoos. Sensors that so it it could happen. I know there's going to be a lot of people myself included and older generations. That will will not want to be in a driverless car. But hey if you can Get to where you need to go. And everything's done safely. I i like to drive. i do. I do too. I don't like to ride in the car. But i'd like to drive. See i but you could probably i. I wonder if there's going to be like a switch on there. That's just like a kid switch because you know when you were a kid and you'd sit in the driveway and said your parents car and you would act like you're driving you turn the wheel and then you'd beat the horn and all that. I got big koerbel for doing this. Because i took the karate geared and went downhill into all. My dad was not at all happy. Yeah i'm sure i did the same. I did the same thing but it was just. I think i bumped something in the garage. Oh i don't think i hit the garage door. I think. I put it in drive. And i hit like the lawnmower in front which headed at point five.

"Below, running it for David. You know, we've talked a lot about these five drivers that came into this weekend. Mathematically eligible, and we think Carnival agreed that Marcus Ericsson was the long shot. This is not what he needs. Today. Running in the 18th position. If he wanted any shot. It was going to have to be race winds very likely. If he doesn't improve on this 18th spot. We may be able to cross him off the list heading to Laguna Seca. The race is finished as we see it right now. You're exactly right. It's really down to two uh, the top four. This point, cause there's 40 points separating the top four and by their really tired of the top 3 16 points 18 points between those drivers so You know, I mean, crazy things happen early in this race, but for what? Graham? Ray Hall qualified good. He ran good. He's played this game the best so far. But what has happened? Maybe Pato did not, and it really leaves a good point point race. For us to watch Graham Ray halls, advantages. 1.5 seconds. It's grown at times to 1.7 seconds over Ed Jones. Sometimes it will drop to about 1.3. As you see the back and forth action with all of these drivers, presumably Trying to save a little fuel to make sure that they can do it on just one stop. Ray Hall is your race leader. Ed Jones second. Jack Harvey is third. Alex Below runs the fourth position. Alexander Rossi is fifth. Rossi has been putting the pressure on Alex below the last handful of laps as he made a thrilling pass to move up to fifth getting around. Not just Scott Dixon, but Joseph New Garden as well to Masada runs an eighth. Colton heard his ninth. Felix Rosenquist is 10th Alex Wolff. Jack Harvey only has a couple races left with that Meyer Shank racing team. And he's given that 60 car a good run in third place he is, but he has been given a little bit of my guess. A dilemma of sorts for a driver to try to figure out he's been told by the timing stand to try to get the best fuel number that he can, but also try to close the gap on Ed Jones. So maybe David can speak to how you can Maybe do that. Try to somehow hit a good field number, but also try to run down your adversary in front of you. Yeah, well as a driver, it's like, can you give me one or the other? Because you're asking for a bit of a miracle to catch the guy from you and say fuel That's pretty Impossible task to be honest with you. But Harvey, actually, I feel that he at that, you know, he pitted last pin on that 40 grand at 35. He has five more labs and Graham and I think if they think grams, Okay, Harvey needs just to continue to save fuel. Yeah, try to catch Jones, but it's going to be a task to do that. We're trying to save fuel. Yeah, it doesn't look like that. Harvey is necessarily keeping pace with Ed Jones. He has slept about 1.2 seconds behind. And quite honestly, it looks like Albert's below. So it's close enough to pressure Michael, Let's pick up. It's the battle for third, Harvey Below and Rossi all nose to tail out of turn number three. Yes, And that battle for third has actually grown. I should say the advantage for Jack Harvey over Alex below about four or five laps ago. I thought Boy Alex Polo is going to be able to get around Jack Harvey. So I'm not quite sure if he's able to not only catches Jones and save fuel, but he's able to at least gap himself a little bit further away from Alex below. Although Pelo does close it down to about three car lengths is Harvey and Pillow. It's turn number eight. Hello, would love to find his Way onto the podium if that's what is in the cards for him, But to do that, he's got to get around. Jack Harvey not able to make up any room right now is they work their way off of turn Number eight and through turn Number nine. The lead belongs to Graham Ray Hall. Ed Jones is the only thing between himself and that trio. We're talking about Jake that race lead. It no longer will belong to Graham Ray Hall, though, because he is coming to pit lane along.

First of all, How do you think this affects our new race leader Graham Ray Hall? Well, I think may her grandma. Unfortunately, we'll just have to wait and see. Now he needed about six laps of fuel to get to the end of this race. If this caution goes six laps and may benefit him, it just depends on how long this yellow is going to be. Who I think it definitely advantage is the guys we talked about that went off course. The first lap Pelo Dixon Rossi Rosenquist because they were barely going to make it on feel barely with this yellow and helps them they'll just stay on their strategy. They already made their first pit stop under yellow. They just stick with what they're doing. It may advantage those as well. So because when we see that the ones that came in which was award dating power for those that fit again, they cannot make it to the end anyway, so they're going to have to put again. So what you're saying is those guys that thought they were being slick jumping on pit lane right before the caution, they still got to pitch again. And now they've lost all track position to Dixon. And that's right. They lost track position. You remember work still in 12. A lot of things can happen up in front of him. But I really think that with him having to make one more stop and majority of the drivers in front of them, including Ray Hawk and possibly with this yellow, like I said, it needs to be a long yellow grams, praying for a long yellow. I don't know that it will be because it's just too offs. But the longer the better for Graham, but the ones that may take advantage of Pelo for sure. Dixon for sure. Rossi Rosenquist heard of those drivers. They should just be able to stay on their normal strategy. Be okay for more on the strategy involving our race leader Graham Ray Hall. Let's go back to Pit Lane and Ryan Marine The radio channel. To this point, guys indicates that they do think this fits into their strategy. All right. They are having Graham save some fuel here Under this yellow. There's still crunching some numbers to make sure that they feel like this shook out the way that they initially thought, but If that is indeed the case, they are quite confident that this did fall into their hands. They asked Graham just a moment ago. How is the tire deg been, he said. It's been good, just a little bit of a problem with a slight bit of wear on the left front win on Reds. That's what they will keep an eye on. But all in all everyone quite calm and optimistic here in the hotel camp for Graham, Ray Hall, David how about the day for Joseph New Garden pitted four laps after Ray Hall, but still five laps prior to guys like below, and Dixon he finds Himself in fifth has Tim cigarette. Have they kind of worked a little magic here to get him up into the top five? Yeah, You know, I don't know if it's magic her luck because drivers being sent to the back and new garden was already back there. They made that initial pit stop early on to this race under yellow Elect 10. I think it was nine or 10. Then go back grain to like 11 or 12. So it right now, as I said, when I was going if it's state grain, and oh, man, this this is going to fall into all those drivers hands with blow leading that pack. I figured that he had a really good opportunity think he still does? But don't forget Jack Harvey is in front of polo. He pitted on lap 40. He's with this yellow. It may give him enough fuel to make it to the end with that one more stop as well. Yeah, your leader's They kind of cycle out based on how they pitted Graham Ray Hall pitted on lap 35 at Jones was able to go to lapse longer on 37 Harvey. With three laps longer until lap 40. And then you've got that group that is only alternate strategy. Starting with Alex below. Who is your points Leader as they run right now. Three markers over Pato Awards 16 over New Garden 38 over Dixon and 71 over Marcus Ericsson. Your top five here in the Grand Prix of Portland Grammar Hall, Ed Jones, Jack Harvey, Alex Below and Joseph New Garden as we work the second full course caution. We've had six different leaders today. Seven lead changes as we have also reached The halfway point of this event. 55 laps in 55 laps to go running at six. Joseph New York City's got Nixon New Garden runs in the fifth. Alexander Rossi is seventh. Masada was eight. Felix Rosenquist is nine. Colton Heard of is 10th some of the lap leaders today Pato award has led 28 laps. Grammar hall 18 laps on the day, Jack Harvey and Scott Dixon of both lead three laps at Jones with two biggest movers from their initial starting position. How about Takuma Sato? He is Plus 18 on the day from the back of the pack up to the eighth spot. Jack Harvey has had a nice day. He is plus 17. And then as we mentioned Joseph New Garden started 18th today, but he has found his way to the top five. He is plus 13 and fastest lap of the race so far has been turned. By Rina Speak a at a minute flat. The lights are off of the pace car. It was relatively quick cleanup Davey Hamilton, So it's just going to be fascinating to see the good news program Ray Hall We saw he could go long during that first stint. But ultimately you're saying the question is, Can he go long and make just one more stop? Or is it going to be tight to make two? He I think you'll really have to say fuel from now to end this race, but what better place to be in that safe fuel, But In the lead. Making the other other drivers try to catch you and passed. Everybody behind him has more fuel than if everybody, including second place as two more laps than him. Harvey and third place has five more laps than he does flow has four more so RAM could be in the driver's seat is all about feeling right now, they all have one more stop to make it to see if he could save a few on this yellow J Query Pace car is pulling away from.

"Accomplish. And I was just going to go for it. How have you seen the sport change in terms of diversity? Starting out? I may be new one other female in the court. But since at least the sugar in the last Case 3 to 5 years. The amount of diversity that has come across in the paddocks is outstanding, and it's something that you talk about it, But you don't even realize it's there anymore because it is so common to see a new female. Come in. Well, that's awesome. Great. I'm Katie Kyle. That's on track with diversity for the NTT IndyCar Series. Thank you so much the soon to be mother, Katie Kyle, You can hear more of that interview on our website, Go to any car. Com slash radio. And click on podcasts. Pretty good battles. Michael Young throughout the field, including one per second, as well as one for fifth Best battle is that battle for fifth is Marcus Ericsson was all over the rear wing of Ed Jones trying to get around him and turn number four. Ed was able to hold him off. And now Jones able to Gap Marcus Ericsson by about three colleagues, but Marcus Ericsson a nice exit out of turn number seven. Marcus Ericsson. Bigger concern right now might be that if Sebastian Board Day who is now started to draw beat on that Husky chocolate machine through turn number eight again, Jokes leads this duo Marcus Ericsson, but Sebastian board A is right there trying to close in on Erickson, who runs it. 63 of the more soft spoken drivers in the IndyCar paddock. It is it. Jones, Marcus Ericsson assignment. Sebastian board a out of turn number 12 again. This is fifth. 6th and 7th. All three of those drivers having really good days as they get hard on the brakes, the right hander of turn number one, abusing the curbing red and white curving to the inside and outside. It's still Jones holding off those to the Swede Marcus Ericsson and the Frenchman Sebastian board. A Yeah, I think Marcus Ericsson trying to regroup and re attack at Jones, he nearly had a pass, at least started and turned four last time by this time, and Jones about three car lengths over Marcus Ericsson, and then the seventh place running, Sebastian boarding. About four car links to the rears of those three drivers Jones out of tournaments. You kind of wonder if Jones now all of a sudden, didn't kind of let those tires settle a little bit, And so as a result of that, if Erickson wanted to try to get that fifth spot, perhaps now he's going to have to work a little bit harder and do it through an odd strategy of maybe going down high and do the old switch, But he gets closer once again as they work their way through. Turn Number nine. That is the three car battle for fifth. Let's check in on the three car battle. Per second, actually, hold off, Jake. It looks like Kalem Island may be having problems right there in front of you. He is a matter of fact and looked like all of a sudden he just lost power. He went into turn number seven, was going to try to work his way now through turn number eight and wisely goes ahead and has enough power to get that 77 machine. Off the racetrack. We'll see what that means is right now we're under green Nick. He might have gotten off the racetrack. Enough of the fact that it's going to prohibit them from having to prove full course costs. We see some concerned looks on the faces of the drive members of the Coast Hollinger team. Davey Hamilton. If you're one of these drivers running in the top five are you jumping on pit lane here with that car stopped so well. What thing right now? Is this the yellow? There's two cars off. Actually, there's a car off in the right office. You can't kill it in the front straightaway. Is that going to bring a yellow as well? Right now? Yellow will mix everything up, right? I had two strategies. Go on. One of them. Had Ray Hall going to win this race. The other one had actually slogan win this race. But if yellow comes out now, all changes Here comes Pato. Now pit Lane is busy. Pato award is in Looks like McLaughlin is in as his passion of Ryan Marina is getting busy on pit lane parts of award, anxious to get off of that sentence tires. It's going to be a set of sticker blacks for possible award. No visible changes, just about seven seconds on that stuff for the McLaren crew. It was a good stop as he feels out McLaughlin and passion. I'm going to do a little drag race at pit exit. The two team Penske drivers. McLaughlin spins the tires, but it looks like he will accelerate ahead. Of Simon Passion. Oh, Marcus Ericsson also pitted and the full course Caution is out. Half of those drivers have pitted Graham Ray Hall did not We will see how this all shakes out with a full course caution for to stop cars on the racetrack. Callum Ilott Adult Kelly. "Fee applies equipment, taxes and fees Extra and some change. 89 70 21. Back in Portland International Raceway working lap 32 of 1 10 Grand Ray Hall is your race leader here on the Indy car radio network. And of course, we'd like to think the stations for carrying today's race. Those include W L U V in Rockford, Illinois, W SLM and Salem, Indiana. And our local affiliate, K. P. O. J right here in Portland, Oregon. Nick Yeoman, Davey Hamilton. Jake. Query, Michael Young, Ryan Marine and Alex Wolff calling the Grand Prix of Portland is Graham Ray Hall is your race leader? Possible war dominates the early portion of this race. Davey, Are you surprised that these strategies for Graham Ray Hall and Pato Award clearly not matching up here early in this race? Yes, well, grand feels like he got just a little bit farther, maybe saved a little bit more fuel. Then, then Pato did on those first yellow. Remember, we went 11 laps under yellow yellow conditions right off the bat in this in this race. That's where you know something. Drivers, sources back made their first pit stop, and it fell in that window. It actually found that would, um, now that disable fuel and the right on the edge, but it could work out for mammogram. He's taking advantage of a little better few miles their track. We'll just see where he rifles out when when he actually makes this stop after Pato awards pit stop Ryan Marine. He has shaken out in the 15th position. Yes, but he is not a happy camper. He just came over the radio and told the team. I am struggling with these tires a lot. Let's keep an eye on his lap times possible award not happy with the handling of his race car. Michael Young, top five G. Ray Hall, Ed Jones, Marcus Ericsson, Jack Harvey. And now Takuma Sato, who won this race back in 2000 and 18. Yeah, just a quick note on possible war. We talked about his struggling with these tires. We remember the Scott McLaughlin, The opening state of this race was running at six Well after Pato stop, McLachlan's only about three car lengths behind Paddle award. So indeed, if he is struggling, Scott McLaughlin made a brilliant pit stop strategy or it's going to be bad news for Pato awards the remainder of this death. Jake Pato Award goes onto those primary black tires. Those are not always the ones that The drivers prefer when it comes to grip and clearly in this situation is Ryan Marine had mentioned that grip is just not there on the black tires thinking of that Graham Ray Hall. The leader is, for example, on those softer compound red tires, but the issue now as Graham Ray Hall works his way on lap 35 here, Nick is how much grip is left in those Firestone Firehawk that softer compound. Red tire is designed to give you better grip at the outset, but then starts to go away and that grip when it goes away all of a sudden You're on ice. Doesn't look like that's the case just yet. Program Ray Hall. He still looks pretty comfortable on the 27 cars. Only six have not come to pit lane here in the Grand Prix of Portland. Those are, of course, the drivers that run one through six Ray all Jones, Erickson, Harvey Sado and New Garden. And then you've got Scott Dixon, who has been staring at the back of Joseph New Gardens car. Here comes your race leader in that all red. Hotel car for Ray Hall. Letterman Lanigan Racing. It's Graham Ray Hall headed to you. Right? Marie Stuffed black tires here for Grand Ray Hall slides to a halt cars showing a few scars from the start of this race. The speedway fuel is going in the tire changes completely a little bit of a delay getting away but Graham Ray Hall into total Honda back into the fight. As he peels out, we will see where he slots in. Of course, he was battling with Pato Award for the race, lead. Graham Ray Hall slides in and it looks Like He's going to be ahead of part award by maybe 10 to 12 car lengths. So we know Pato is struggling, but a good pit stop. Michael Young looks like grams gotten out ahead of our points leader, grab doing a great job managing those red tires for the remainder of that first dead. He's got about a 15 car length advantage over Paddle Award not only struggling with those tires, but he's going to have mirrors full. Scott McLaughlin McLaughlin only three car lengths behind Paddle award. What this All does is it puts the lead now. Out to Ed Jones, followed by Marcus Ericsson, Harvey Sado and Joseph New Garden, But keep in mind. Just as I say that Marcus Ericsson has peeled off pit road and you would have to imagine he's wanted that entire flurry. Let's go down to pit road. Marcus Ericsson is in and he is quickly being attended to by the crew off the breads in back to reds here, that's first up. We've said that so far today, Marcus Ericsson. Back into the fight. We saw a wing adjustment on that car for Marcus Ericsson as well. A couple of crew members reach up and they twist those knobs. Davey all those front wings. What could Marcus Ericsson be looking for? To help the handling of that race car? Well, I think every every car that I've watched for pit stops are putting those into the car, meaning the front tires just don't have enough reports much grip as they would like. And that goes to flat race tracks. Anytime you get a flat race track, that's normally what happened. You just can't get the cars to turn And most everybody that's made wing adjustments has put those winds up to try to get more down and almost cold tires. Jake Marcus Ericsson, trying to hang on ahead of Rita speak a boy hang on his right to red and white cars that are absolutely slugging it out. Sebastian board Day is just behind that battle and is watching it very intently. Meanwhile, Jones is on pit road. And Jones hasn't been totally happy with that race car so far bit of a hang up on this pit stop nearly nine seconds before he's finally released. He's been hanging on. Hopefully, a couple of changes There will make him happier with the handle it and Jones was running in the top five before this pit sequence started. Graham Ray all blitzes by as this part of award. It looks like Ed Jones is going to blend in right behind Simon Passion. Oh, As that has now cycle to lead up to Jack Harvey, just three drivers remaining still needing to pit that is Harvey Sado and New Garden. Then that's going to hand the lead over to Scott Dixon, one of those drivers that topped off after the first caution. There's about C eight of them, which includes Dixon, Pelo Rossi, daily herder Rosenquist. Power and ask you and then you get back to our original leaders. Graham Ray Hall, so bearing strategies here, David Hamilton as well Work lap number 38 was 72 to go here in the Grand Prix of Portland. Yeah, one thing excited about watching a race like this strategy is so different. That first lap incident happening is the point. I'm watching the point. I'm watching pit strategies. How much push the past. But right now, below has the points lead by one point over Pot Award and then six points back is new Garden. 32 points back, Dixon 68 points back Eriksson. So right now, the points lead was swap if the race ended right here and with this strategy, If it goes completely green, it could favour the teams that pitted early because I have one last stop to make Michael Young good battle for its 16th right now, but it would have been for third. Before this pit sequence at Jones and Marcus Ericsson. Yes, trying to get those tires up to temp. He is on blacks and Marcus Ericsson. Nando's Red's going back to bats, sticks. You talked about closing in trying to get around Marcus Ericsson markets. Now he's got those tires up to tap. He is really given eh Jones fence as they exit turn number eight and again mentioned with pit sequencing Right now, this is technically the battle for the 16th position. But could it be more than that once? Everybody, of course, starts to Cycle through Marcus Ericsson is going to take a hard look at the tournament nine. Still not able to get in on the joke. He will stay in those tire tracks, says two more drivers have jumped onto pit lane, including Joseph New Garden and Takuma Sato. So that leaves just Jack Harvey still to pit and when he does, it will handle lead over to Scott Dixon. And his teammate Alex Below. We'll have more for the Grand Prix of Portland. Here on the car radio..

"I'm surrounded by people empowered to be their best conspiracy. Nothing seems impossible in spirit E H. R. That makes a difference. The pit window has opened with 89 laps to go, Ryan Marine, You've got a car in front of you and Simon passion. Oh, fitting from the responded to set a sticker red after starting on the primary black tires. They're pretty happy with that race cars. Have it passionate down it away and moments ago, Alex Wolff, I don't You saw Rina speak a jump on a plane. That's right. Rina speak A and the pit lane went off the primary Black sun, the element Reds. Further up the pit lane Jimmy Johnson at a nine second step off the Black sun to the read. Those reports from the pits are brought to you by speedway official Fuel and convenience store the NTT IndyCar series 89 to go in his possible award up front. You're just joining us. A first lap accident is taken James Hinchcliffe, Helio Castro, Neves and Roman Grosjean Wednesday and throwing them in the trash Bin and Pato award came out of your race leader he has held off Graham Ray Hall, since we have gone back racing. Ed Jones runs in the third spot. Marcus Ericsson is fourth smashing board, A top five top five are separated by just five seconds. Further back, Michael, We're keeping an eye on a couple championship contenders New Garden and Dixon. They are running 12th and 13th as they battle tournament three. They are they've been held up the last couple of laps, said Don't tell it Machine and Kalem Island. Then it's new garden behind him. Dixon was able to get around his teammate Alex below. But as things stack up, it's like an accordion. And every now and again a bunch back up, and then Kelly able to gap them again. But boy, Dixon would certainly like to get around Joseph New Garden. That's that's the real trick right now is the fact that Dixon has new garden in front of him, Pelo just behind him, Nick, the question becomes, in the fact that Dixon and Pelo you're talking about two drivers that are teammates and want to be conservative there, but both of them are going for points championships as well. So everything comes into play. There's no doubt, baby. Those guys all want to be aggressive. How frustrating must it be for new garden? Dixon and Pelo to be kind of stuck behind Kelly and Island who are just slightly off the pace? Yeah, tough, too. Past, right tells you how difficult is the pastor? This could be a time for some of the drivers that are held up in traffic to pit Although you garden has not pitted, yet, That would be maybe a good opportunity for him. We see a lot of the drivers coming in making their first pit stop. And not be held up. Sometimes you're better off the sacredness. Good early stop. So we're not being held up because you make up so much track time. Once you get free New garden right now appears to be the final car on the strategy in terms of drivers that have not stopped. He runs in 11th. First driver did stop on lap number. 12 was Scott Dixon. So, Joseph New Garden? I don't think after starting 18th anticipated 23 laps, and he'd be ahead of Dixon and Pelo, but I'm sure he will certainly take it. Pato Awards Vantage over Graham Ray Hall up front is one second and that's another 2.8 back to Ed Jones. But Jones is Rear view mirrors starting to fill up Marcus Ericsson. Sebastian board, a Max Chilton giving Chase Michael that is third through sixth. That's been a nice battle, as everybody has settled in on this first and at Jones now making his way through the midway point of turn number five Erickson that Sebastian Board A and Max Chilton right behind him. Scott McLaughlin has what pit lane and that is the reason why he's no longer running sixth. As we had. One of the drivers haven't actually have an off right there, kick up some dust. That was Joe's Joe's, about five car lengths ahead of Marcus Ericsson. Roman Grosjean also decided to play in the sand a little bit problem for Grosjean is he is 25th. So he's got a lot of ground to make up. That's why he would be getting uber aggressive. Ryan Hunter Ray got a real good look at that. But as you had mentioned Michael the fact that Max Chilton had been working so hard with Scott McLaughlin, who then went to the pits. That means now that Jack Harvey has a good look. At Max Chilton in that battle for the sixth position leader still is part of award. Davey. I just saw replay of that incident between Ryan Hunter Ray and Roman Grosjean Hunter Ray Kinda just pushed Grosjean off the racetrack, Rochon 15 laps down. And the important caveat is who do We expect to be driving that 28 car next year? Yeah, right about that. So probably pretty interesting. I'm not trying to start anything. I'm just saying right handed radars is driving that car next year shows that so? Yeah, but I was in a situation but rifle is 15 laps down so Definite to move out the way right now to radio fighters battle. He is only running 23rd bodies only lap and it still have opportunity. You never know. Grow shot again. Fighting hard with drivers on the lead lap as he runs in 25th position, 15 laps down 25 laps into this race, the top 11 have still not pitted. That's award. Ray Hall, Jones, Erickson boarded Chilton, Harvey Sado, Kellett Island and Joseph New Garden up front. Camera Hawk continue to be impressed Michael with the pace, he has just been right there 7/10 to 9/10 of a second behind our race leader Pato Award. Yes, Pa does not pulling away by any stretch of the imagination..

"Er, one g right hall giving chase. He's 8/10 of a second behind as they bend their way through the left hander of tournament two and back to the right of turned three wars, still about a seven car length advantage over Graham, Ray Hall Jones third Marcus Ericsson fourth, but there is Sebastian board. They try to get that fourth position away from Marcus Eric said Sebastian Board a about two car lengths behind market surgeon as they exit turn Number six. But back to the front Paddle Award. Five car likes Overground Rail, I'll pick back up that battle for fourth between Mark August Berenson and Sebastian board A Because that black and white machine of the Frenchman Sebastian four day is really starting to reel in now. On the husky chocolate machine. Marcus Ericsson, who is running into fourth spot. It's about a two car length advantage. But board a in the tournament line makes it even closer. Erickson, trying to hold him off four days got his hands full because right behind him, is the driver of the PPG Chevrolet for Team Penske. That is Scott McLaughlin, who is all of sudden found himself running in the sixth position. Starting lap number 13 It's award. Ray Hall, Jones, Erickson and board a further back. We just saw Rina speak a pop out trying to get around Simon Pagenaud. That's a battle for the eighth position will pick that up. It's all around that minorities Carmichael as they make their way out of turn three. Everybody stacking up from Fed fought back. You talk about McLaughlin now Max Children trying to get around McLaughlin. Then it's Simon Passion. Oh, and Rita, speak a Let's go back to the front. That's Max Chilton and Scott McLaughlin Get that battle for the sixth position. That's the best one is it shapes up under the exit of Turn seven joke really started to get a little bit wide, trying to close in on McLaughlin for the sixth spot, but Scott McLaughlin, the Kiwi holds him off. Same holds true for pageant who now has about a 10 car lengths. Excuse me two colleagues advantage over reading speak a passionate running. It Ain't BK and night Davey front to have gotten away a little bit. I'll say Graham Ray Hall looks like he might be a tick faster than Pato Award here on this restart. Right now. Yeah, absolutely. I think Graham. He's had a great race car qualifying where he did finally towards the front now, really towards the front. After that first lap melee. He's going to be putting pressure on part two all day long. I assure you, he wants to win. But Pato is running for a championship. But right now, Graham do anything you can to get a win. So Graham Ray Hall giving Chase to Pato Award. It's about a half a second. The disadvantages, Jake, we're watching and onboard. Graham Ray Hall is right there. The tire tracks here early on. To run down our Mexican points leader. The thing that you can see is what Graham Ray Holt and that hotel machine works into the corners. If you get down into the rumble strips for those that are unfamiliar. There is a red and white curbing on both the inside and outside of the terms here, And if Graham Ray Hall goes too far trying to cut off some of the track in pursuit of power to award that, like it does to any driver immediately upsets and irritates that steering wheel And that becomes the battle Graham Ray Hall really starting to battle that wheel as he's doing anything he can But still not able to shrink off and shave about five garlic disadvantaged apart Award. The good news for Graham, as he has pulled away from Ed Jones, who runs in third battle for fourth is looking good. Sebastian board a took a peek Michael Young into turn number one. He's trying to get around Marcus Ericsson as they battle out of turn three. Marcus Ericsson had a great run out of turn number three and now recaps himself over Sebastian board. A. That's the battle for fourth. It's Marcus Ericsson that Sebastian Board a about four car lengths behind, But then again, they start to stack up behind. Basketball day with Scott McLaughlin. There's Max Chilton trying to make the pass out of turn Number seven and again. Max Chilton. Trying to close in on Scott McLaughlin is the battle you're talking about. McLachlan, running in six Children is right on his heels as they work their way through Turn number eight and back to Children is going to try to use that long straightaway to get in front of Scott McLaughlin. Those two drivers are nose to tail Chilton trying to get around McLaughlin as well as hold off Simon Maginot Pot Award. Use your race leader here on lap number 15 and Davey. I know that Jobs. In your head in terms of strategy already starting to turn. Yes. So I'm looking at the you know, pit windows. And right now, the drivers that weren't the front. We're talking. You know, Dixon, PLO Rossi, All the all the drivers heard it rose, a quest that really got shuffled back after the first lap incident. They did pit and you know, barely within that first window, And I say that there are lap or two may be short. But right now where they are running back in traffic or speech a little bit slower. Their first pit stop is our way. Now it's a very narrow pit window. But they could take advantage of cycling towards the front of the several more fuel than everybody else. Pato and the guys up front Ray Hall, Jones Jackson. They haven't been assigned yet where the other guys have done. The first of their three going to be interesting at all shakes out, we will keep an eye on that strategy. A pair of Indy lights races this weekend Ryan Marine and two different winners. You're with the driver who picked up his seventh win of the season earlier today, that would be Kyle Kirkwood, who I don't know if going into race one of the weekend. Well, you thought this was going to shape up to be the weekend it became the starting 5th and 4th of the two races that you come away with the first and the second. Really good damage mitigation when you consider how well your championship rival David Malukus qualifying damage mitigation. Definitely the word that I'm looking for right now. Both as 4th and 5th qualified positions while the HMD cars were all ahead of us in both of those was really tough. It was tough pill to swallow, but we knew we could get it done in the races. We felt confident with our race car. We felt good on used tires, so they're 30 lap race were able to get it done in both the races makes it passes happened early on, and as the race progressed, we're just really quick. How is it shaping up then? From a championship.

"Ericsson. Now all of a sudden has all kinds of company from his teammate, Scott Dixon, who tried to take a look to the inside. Eriksson at the bottom of the keyhole managed to shut that door new Garden to Carly advantage over Colton Herta Plenty of fireworks on this fourth of July. Let's see if the third time is the charm through turn number four Joseph New Car to three colleagues have been And his further back to the fifth position. Alex Polo looks to the inside. Now outside of Alexander Rossi, below will be able to hold him office. Pelo continues that charge Rossi, just in front of of the pillow machine. Now looks like read. Svk is kind of tucked inside. He'll go off course they'll make their way through Turn number seven kicked up a ton of dirt, trying to get around Alex below. To grab that sixth position. He lost all momentum, but it is Alex below Mark our pole sitter trying to run down Alexander Rossi and get inside the top five. Alex below getting Hopefully aggressive and readers VK and Graham Ray Hall without their right there. But when, as Michael described readers, VK went off course that required Graham Ray Hall to roll it up. Roll it up a little bit. It's Sebastian board is giving chase in that battle as well. That's the battle for the seventh position. Meanwhile, back up front, Joseph New Garden by 8/10 of a second over Colton Herta, New garden on the red tires. So, too, is Colton Herta, Marcus Ericsson. Scott Dixon, Alexander Rossi, the highest on the primary black tires. He has Alex Polo just behind him. The leader, Joseph New Garden. Already leaving the keyhole. Roman Grosjean got loose at the bottom of the keyhole that allowed Scott McLaughlin by Simon Pageant. Now we'll try to do the same Joseph New guard about a five car length advantage over Colton Herta than Erickson, Dixon Rossi able to gap himself from below. Then Revis VK lots of battling further back Takuma Sato. On the charge. He will get around San Tino Ferrucci now Ferrucci trying to look his way back to the inside. But Takuma Sato will be able to gap in by about a half A car like they're already through Thunder Valley in front four have gotten away its new garden her to Erickson Dixon. And then it's Rossi trying to hold off Alex Pelo just outside the top five little bit further back that battle for the at the time. The ninth position. Roman Grosjean, Jake described the end of that battle. He tried to make a move on Sebastian board, a But board a was having none of it. But by the time that Grosjean got back into the throttle, he lost a couple of positions that is in danger. Now of being under result from the Car Park Award award, looking to move up the best battle of the racetrack, Alexander Rossi, he's trying to hold off Alex below the keyhole. As a matter of fact, as they work their way at the bottom of the keyhole, Rossi and almost as like, he's holding people up. That's not the case. Just Dixon's getting away from him. But below is right there looking in on Rossi, This is the battle for the fifth position. Alexander Rossi has it. Alex Polo wants it. Meanwhile, Rina speak a was to take that six position away from Alex Pelo Pelo will get a little bit of an arrow wash. That will allow me to speak a too close in, so we'll have Alexander Rossi in that fifth position that a great battle at six with Pillow and BK. And you can add Graham Ray Hall to the mix. Make that a four car battle for the fifth position. Alexander Rossi with a little bit of breathing room, and it's below VK and Ray Hall through Thunder Valley early on to the race, Davey Hamilton Reedus VK, showing no ill effects from that injury to Hispanic All know he knew he had a better car than that level qualifying position. He's working his ways in seven now all over Pelo and I have to say garage and he we may want to introduce him to dirt race That was pretty good slide down there through the keyhole that turned to kept a sideways getting on track. Awesome space. We've been a good job recovery Greatest VK Crab Ray Hall. That's the best battle for now. That's the battle for seven to the Keyhole and Graham Ray Hall finds himself just behind VK and again in front of board Day. As a matter of fact, board a one little bit wide at the bottom of the keyhole that allowed Ray Hall to again distance. But Rachel is trying to find arenas VK so 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th. That's the best battle on the track. Rossi about six car lengths ahead of Alex below. Rina, Speak a now closing in on that rear window. Pelo again. Graham Ray Hall will fall back ever so slightly further back in the field. Ferrucci gets back around Takuma Sato also have a battle. Jack Harvey, Jack. Harvey gets all kinds of sideways as he tries to battle Dalton. Tell it now, Jack Harvey regains control of that machine, but a lot of value because it got kicked up dust through tricks and now seven. Yep, You mentioned Jack Harvey going off race track a little bit. The back of the field. They are stacking up Mark Jaynes. Everybody battling for position and race control took a look a couple of times that that issue going up into the keyhole between Roman Grosjean and Sebastian board A. They didn't like Davy the way that they defended that position. He's been ordered to give up two spots for blocking. Wow. Interesting. I noticed grow. John went by him now. That means McLaughlin needs to get by him as well. But one thing Yes, we care for McLaughlin has been threatened by part to award matter of fact being passed by Pato Award right now. Oh, they touched wheels just slightly down there and turn to write up in the keyhole. That was a pretty good battle for sure. Let's give you a full field rundown with 12 laps complete. It's Joseph, New Gardener leader. Colton Herta is second Marcus Ericsson, his third Scott Dixon, his fourth. Rossi, his fifth below is sick. The K is seventh Ray Hall is eight. Roman Grosjean is night. Sebastian board A is 10 Pato Award 11 Scott the clock with his 12th 13th sided Pacino 14th Santino Ferrucci 15 To Cuba. Sato 60 Dalton College 17th daily 18th Harvey 19th Hinchcliffe 20th Jilting 21st is Norman 22nd. Is Jimmy Johnson down? The third is Felix Rosenquist. 24th two laps out. Is Ryan Hunter Ray out of the race in 25th. This Ed Jones and willpower will finish 26 today. Davey with all of those cautions, Do we think maybe that the pit strategy might have been altered a little bit? I mean, we had six laps of cautions through the first seven laps of the race. Yes. So you know, pit strategy is really it was too early, but we did see a few guys. Norman came in and did a pit. Johnson, Jimmy Johnson, Shilton and Hinchcliffe All came in ahead of probably more for issues on his race car, But but, yeah, we just see a handful of guys a little too early to really take advantage of a strategy back deep in the field. We're watching the battle for 70 Jack Harvey slowly but surely trying to work his way to the front, if possible, get himself in a position to use that pit strategy. Michael Young, Pretty good drag race between Jack Harvey encounter daily into turn four. Yeah, Jack Harvey is on the outside. Now we'll try the over under on Qatar Daily Daily will hold that inside line boy. He popped in the middle of the track and had to defend against Jack Army. Trying to take that position nearly read Harvey off the track daily.

"He is two laps now because of that opening lap incident and, of course, day is done for Jones 25th. Willpower. 26th is Ryan Hunter. Ray brings his car back onto pit road. Roman Grosjean, plus seven award plus seven Santino Ferrucci, plus seven. Jack Harvey. Plus six counter daily, plus six. So, Dany I know attrition has aided their cause. But certainly sub drivers we expected to move up early have done so, Yeah, you know, we expected the first two guys, right? Obviously. New garden and herded to stay where they are The pot awards. Starting that 20 position he went around. He had the lucky line. If those the drivers in front of didn't have those issues, it probably would have put him back instead of forward, But when they did, he went around. All of them goes from 20th. 13th. Absolutely great, Simon passionate. Another one jumping up, finds himself in that drug position already, Sado has a nice little jump up. Grosjean's So, yeah, those bad luck for some made good luck for others. Impressive reflexes by the drivers of the back half of the field. Davey willpower was smack dab in the middle of the racetrack, shrouded in smoke couldn't even see the race car And the driver is just simply went where they saw clearing to the high side of the low side of willpower. Yeah, so hard. Sometimes, they say, aim for the smoke, and then by the time we get there, it's gone, but that's usually on high speed ovals. Little bit different here at mid Ohio. Yeah, it's a good thing. They didn't head for the smoke because Ed Jones could tell you the smoke is right where the incident was as the green flag flies as Joseph New Garden. Colton, Herta nose to Tail and Marcus Ericsson, keeping pace as they reached the halfway point toward the keyhole to are evenly spaced from then three ad for as a matter of fact, Marcus Ericsson. Now all of a sudden has all kinds of company from his teammate, Scott Dixon, who tried to take a look to the inside. Eriksson at the bottom of the keyhole managed to shut that door new.

"Your points leader Scott Dixon. He hasn't pitted since the lap number three and Ryan Marini comes into your view that three pit stop came because he was caught up in the opening. Last accident here comes to PNC Bank. Our crew going to work is entire pressure adjustment at the rear of the car. Just trying to find a bit more stability, Speedway fuel and Scott Dixon is down to the way it looks like Ed Jones. Willpower, feelings. Rosenquist Takuma Sato, a good battle into turn number one. This is the battle for the 13th position. Michael Jones will lead that. Great train willpower finally getting his fit foot back underneath him or speed. I should say underneath him feelings. Rosenquist will be right behind him. Those are some great battles, eh? Jones gets a nice launch out of turn up before but for the first time, it looks like well, power's back on his getting out. This is in the back half of the field at Jones and that blue mouse or electronic scar about four car lengths over willpower power about four over Felix Rosenquist. Then it's Takuma Sato charging hard. The fourth car on that train and Pato award the winner of Texas. Jake. Those five snake their way out of 10 hours got to actually just think to himself a sense of relief that he finally now is right in the thick of it to Michael's point, maybe finding some balance of that car trying to close it on Jones. He's got Rosenquist just behind him. No real movement is they kind of accordion themselves right now, and it's our number 13 Alex below fairly comfortable in third, but it looks as though that Rina's BK is getting a bit more racy with a back to the field, See Vaginal in pretty good shape in the night position. Alexander Rossi looks pretty comfortable in the 11th position. But again, things stacked up a bit behind that quote. Play front again, Jones and in turn over what Jones has 12 and willpower would like to get it back after that free fall through the field moments ago, so willpower will lose a couple of spots that its feelings Rosenquist, the machine of Takuma Sato, right there as well as well as Pato Award, But it is the machine of Ed Jones making his way through the switchback of five. It looks like he has a comfortable advantage over willpower. Yeah, there nose to tail. But Jones is comfortable right now. Over willpower Call it five car legs. The driver from Dubai will get hard on the brakes and yank that steering wheel to the left. Turn over seven willpower will mirror those inputs as they make their way through Turns 89 10 because of the fact that Ed Jones has that blue paint scheme, it still takes my eye getting used to it to realize that that is exactly who that is. But willpower is giving it a very hard examination because he is closing in. Even more so in that solid blue machine, But Rosenquist is right. They're right behind power with the same distance. That group now works its way through Turn number 13 30 lives complete Girls Yacht Harvey Pelo VK and New Guard. The top five of last year in the car, made a pledge to support diversity and inclusivity throughout the paddock and each of our events to get it. Update on some of those initiatives. Let's check in with Katie Kyle's with a member of IndyCars community on track with diversity. "The replay as we speak Sebastian board. They had some help. Yeah, sure did guys so you can't remember Joseph. New guard just came in and petted and had those fresh Firestone Firehawk stand when he came out so much faster than the guys in the world tires. They're just trying to hang on, and he gained so much ground on board day, coming in turn to just barely got into the back of that car, but that's all it takes. When you're on your own. We're out. Tires and turned around and he had hard guys here that think directly on the back of the car and the gearbox. He is OK, but that car is done and that it was a big hit and the rear of that car off off of that impact making old men stepped out of it until some new card in. Is that right? We're had the bump that wall. I think he might have spun all the way around. Yeah, that was a remarkable catch by Joseph Hicks in the corner because it was tracking up the race track out of control. And you're right. He caught it saved it. That's why he's a champion. But very, very lucky that that wasn't worse Mark because Joseph wasn't the owner was a pack of four cars and that accident the fact that it was only board. A that ends up with major damage is pretty impressive. Just prior to that big elements of pit activity on pit road. Some of those guys that timing could have been worse. Yeah, I think all those guys that decided to pit earlier in trouble now because they're trapped a lap or two down, so guys like Graham Ray Hall. Mostly front runners. Guys like Simon, passionate When will power who was running third? They're all now a lap down. They're going to get the wave around Mark when everybody pits here, but any track position like willpower. He'll probably restart in the 15th position, and after he was running third, that's a big big it as a benefit to those who waited one of those that benefits suddenly Tony Kanaan finds itself into the cop did Davey He's in the top 10 down with a very fast race card. He's gonna be able to fit under caution. Have Max Joe's his his guy calling the race from down there intimate. Another good call. Stay out as long as you can, and this is just right out. We have a way have a gearbox issue, but it's right out. We'll try to fix when you come in. He did it right now, As you said, they'll come in to make his first pit stop in the 10th position. And how about Piotr ofit of Paul? He's in the top 10 and that 51 car for Dale's point, and the guy right ahead of him. Scott McLachlan and these are guys with very little oval experience. Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good. Marcus. Those two and all these guys, including Kanaan, Ed Jones may not have the best race cars. Kanaan is pretty fast, but for those guys struggling, they're gonna be mid pack cars now, so this was a big break with the timing of this caution. McLachlan probably comes into this race, Davey with the most confidence he's had in the previous couple of races because he tested here tested at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, so conventional wisdom tells you I don't race conditions are different. But at least knowing your marks on the racetrack, having turned laps of the race track, turning laps of high speed on an oval like an Indianapolis I think all that all Scott felt pretty confident, was pretty anxious to get here to Texas. Yeah, without a doubt and looking really good with calls saying out, find himself that eighth position, but it's always good is rookie and come in somewhere that you feel comfortable with, even though I'm sure veterans are still are comfortable this high speed violent half, although it's not that easy and comfortable with police coming here with little knowledge and know what it takes. You know, Another guy really helped Rossi. Ross has been way off the pace today. Just kind of hanging out back there. He Rob Edwards kept him out there as well. He finds himself that south position, so that was a good move not to put on Rossi. So 61 lapse complete. This is our first caution. We've now run five laps under caution. The car's running behind the pace lap and Gotta get below a lot of credit, Nick your butt. I mean, he tucked in behind Scott picks and after a couple of laps, and he stayed right within a 4 to 6/10 of it. And it was one thing to follow Scott Dixon around when they were in clean air, But where I think it might have been the most beneficial markets right in those last five or six last before the yellow where things got a little hairy right in front of our leaders and lapped traffic for Al Explode. Did a nice job picking his way through the lab traffic. So, yeah, He's doing a really good job, and he's got one heck of a teammate to learn from a chase didn't see A lot of fluid laid down on the racetrack. As a result of that incident, we did see some debris at the point of impact, and fortunately for back four, Sebastian bored a lot of speed got scrubbed off after the impact pretty quickly to Gilbert. So it really wasn't a lengthy clean up for the MRT car safety team. And here's another thing to keep in mind Mark. We're racing tomorrow. So that work for a J. Foyt Racing. Get that 14 car ready for special boarding tomorrow night. I would guess it begins right now. Because those guys have a late night working. Michael Young got pit road..

"You I d C 35 laps in has been all Scott Dixon. He's about to leave Latin number 33 of the 35 laps We have completed here in Texas Voters Speedway for the Genesis 300 total. Get on with some gearbox issues. Jake Query. How about an update? Our Tony Kanaan is we talked about was the fastest car in practice today, but he started this race in the 23rd position, made up four spots on the opening lap. But then we talked about the fact he was having issues with the gearbox that stuck him in sixth year. Good news for him. He can get out of that, if need be now, but now he can't get it back above fifth. So what they told him was the tires actually look good right now. He's lost two spots back. So he finds himself now in the 21st position, But they told him what's not get out of sequence and try to bring you in. Really just do what you can right now between 4th and 5th, and we'll try to take care of it. Reset everything. Once you do come in on sequence for those fresh Firestone Firehawk sin fuel. I guess The good news is Davey Hamilton in that scenario is that teams confident enough in a veteran driver to be able to handle that scenario, be able to hold on to the race car and not go laps down by coming in under green. Get right guys it and they could when in the pits, and he may just be able to cycle the ignition and reset the electronics. So the gearbox side of the car and be good again, But don't don't ruin your race. Because if you come in now, and the yellow wasn't to come out before that for screen, you'd be the first bits up. You'd be a big trouble, so Just hanging out there. You think that position guys he's hanging in there? He's keeping his lap times keeping his lap times up and still has set forth of 50 years that he could work with writers. So by not being able to go back into sixth gear and explain to the novice exactly how exactly he is hammered. What What is that preventing him from doing? Well, ironically, right now, this point the race guys, probably nothing because the pace is slow down enough to where he probably doesn't need six years who, with the fresh new tires and the start of these tits. The speeds of being about five miles an hour. He'll need that sixth year or hit the Rev. Limiter didn't the straightaways but went. The pace is that right now, guys is probably not hurting whatsoever right now. But like I say, once he gets a new tires on, it could happen Pretty good. Then the straightaways get into that. Rev. Limiter Battle for 12 comes off Turn Number four. It's tightening up a little bit. That's Graham Ray Hall that Pato award Nick Gilbert. They start to set up for Turnover Wide award has a fast race car made that move around Alexander Rossi about 10 to 15 laps ago mark to move into the 13th position. And down the backstretch ray halls advantage about three car lengths over Pato Award Award. Close it Down to two in the third three. They climb up the banking. Now What about the halfway point of the turn? And upon exit? They get close to that outside retaining wall that Pato award is stuck right into the tire tracks of Graham Ray. Hold again. This is the battle for the 12. Positions of wars often turn number one. Just in front of them. Marcus Eriksen and Joseph New Garden is a pretty decent battle. Erickson is the guy with the 10 spot New garden trying to get into the top 10 back to that battle. We check in a pot of award. Looks like he's lost about a half a car like this, so But as we say that he comes to the start finish line and really closes up within about three car lengths. Hurry Practice Pato Award to the trial but was actually clipping the grass with the left side Firestone, so he's trying to trim this racetrack. Short is he can takes a really shallow line exiting turn to gets a nice run again market close within two car lengths and Graham Ray Hall as they roared through Turn three and just looks like he's having to lift a little bit as he approaches the corner, and that allows Ray holder stand in the throttle just a little bit longer and gate somebody of momentum. They looked like they were gonna threaten Joseph New Garden for a bit, but now Joseph so that up to about a second and a half lead in front of them as he runs in the 11th position. Yeah, began at a turnover to part of a war with a strong show. Large takes a look to the inside breaks that air just a little bit. Graham, though a really strong run mark through turns three and four Hell Gap about to about 45 Carlos. So Davey, they're running very similar lines around the race track and the running very similar speeds. Why can't award seemed to pull up on Graham Ray home? Well, you know what he's doing what he needs to, and that is be quicker. Come on The exit of the corner. Unfortunate just gets to the back of Graham on corner entry, and they've got to get single file before they go through there. Just no grip. I'm outside right now, guys, So he gave up on it. But then he loses the ground a little bit going in the corner, but he really has a good car. As far as woman. I'm coming off those corners as Nick assist. He is definitely making this a short track. I think you clip the grass right there. Still try over down the front straightaway that that will get you in trouble If you do get there too far. And Nick Yeoman 24th place running Don't Kellen has some company and that's our leader's Got Dixon. Yeah, thanks. Get got interesting at the back of the pack bark. Tony Kanaan just made a pass around Felix Rosenquist. Rosen was struggling right now. With Ed Jones and you mention it. Scott Dixon just took a look to the inside. He'll put Don't tell it the first driver one lap down into turn three about 10 laps away. We think from the pit window opening up Scott Dixon, a dominant performance so far, he's the leader below power. Heard of Harvey. The top five Pass, You know board Davey Kei Sato Eriks of the top 10 in Texas Motor Speedway. Hey,.
