"Well, spinning this forward Brody, you recently made the case that LSU's next head coach actually should be able to turn this program around pretty quickly. So why is that? Yeah, I think at the end of the day, three straight head coaches that LSU have won national championships. And that is not common at all. And quite frankly, the one thing that I think many coaches would argue makes all see one of the 5 best jobs in the country is that you are in a very talent rich state that I believe it's number one in the highest talent per capita. And you have no direct competition in state. You are the flagship school that should as long as you don't mess up. Land every single major player. Alabama have Alabama and auburn fighting, or Texas, you have 5 major schools competing. Florida same thing. Louisiana, yeah, sure bam is gonna win a few of them or whatever. But overall, you have that access. And then you look at the current roster, there is a lot a lot a lot of talent there. The kind of talent that people like me were saying, they should have won ten games this season. Their freshman and sophomore classes right now are really, really good. They're full of guys who ask freshmen and sophomores are breaking into stars from receiver K Shawn but who was going to be a belittle winner before he heard his ankle just last week. Or all American corner Eli Rick's or freak defensive tackle freshman mason Smith. There are so many guys here that coaches would be salivating to come coach. So I think this is a job that coaches will be very hard trying to fight for. And I think it's a job that very quickly can get back on track. There are things that absolutely need to be fixed. They're offensive line is in really deep years long damage. But overall, there is a really strong infrastructure here that this should be a top 20 team at next season. There have been a lot of rumors, of course, swirling about who that next head coach might be. What are you hearing? Of course. I think you have to start with the fact that Woodward the athletic director has a history of being maybe the biggest game hunter in college athletics. He's the guy who got Chris Peterson from Boise state to go to Washington when no one thought Peterson was ever going to leave Boise. Or he's the guy who got Jimbo Fisher to leave a national title team at Florida state to coach a Texas a and M and he is the guy who actually just recently got national title winning women's basketball coach Kim mokey to leave Baylor for LSU, which was shocking. You know, he is a big game hunter and I don't think that's gonna be different here. My colleague, Bruce Feldman reported. He's even gonna make dabo swinney at Clemson say no. You know, you're James Franklin's at Penn State. You're melt Tucker at Michigan state who has less success, but if somebody really quickly rising in the field who also has history with Nick Saban and history with Kirby smart, which helps anyone's case, you have to at least mention lane kiffin at all miss. He is somebody who gets thrown around quite a bit, and it would be a very juicy storyline although I don't know if it will happen. And then you go down the list though and there's guys who are still would be home runs to most people. You know, Billy Napier at Louisiana is a guy who has been one of the hottest up and coming names and coaching for three years now and has turned down multiple SEC jobs these last few years because he's kind of waiting for that perfect thing. So I think there are tears to this where he's gonna go for his biggest fish, but I think there are other plans there where it's, hey, this guy still would be a hot commodity. So I have a feeling they're gonna land someone pretty big name. It's still too early to tell who. And circling back to Ed O's Ron. What comes next for him? Does the nature of his ouster mean that he's unlikely to coach college football again or do you expect that he'll be back to coaching relatively soon? He has said that he's actually said twice this week already. He's Adam and he will take next year off. You will enjoy things. I'm not sure if you will look into television or something like that, but he will not be coaching next year. But after that, my gut tells me he will be coached again. The tricky thing I don't know the answer to is will he go be taking a head coaching job at, you know, a slightly smaller program, or will he go back to his roots for lack of a better word and go be the top lieutenant again at a major program? Because I'm sure a lot of teams would love to have him there. Well, I guess a $17 million golden parachute gives him some options. Absolute. "It peaceful. You are going to get your money. I guess it's not that surprising, but you know, it has struck me that there has been no mention at all from LSU of any of the more disturbing things swirling around as the school parts ways with him. No mention of the fallout between him and the players, him reportedly bringing women to the training facility or these claims about him knowing about sexual assault and harassment allegations. So my question is, was this really just a straight up football decision to let him go? As it seemed or did all the losses give the school cover to do something that they wanted to do anyway. I think it's a valid question. I think the way I would put it is he ultimately is no longer else he was head coach because he didn't win enough. I think that is true, but I do think that the other issues from title 9 to his behavior off the field, they added to that shortening of the leash. The deterioration of that extreme capital we had 21 months ago. And I think many would argue they led to the decline of performance. But I think you were right at the end of the day if he would have been going ten and two this year, those issues might have been looked the other way. I think that is a tale throughout sports history. They also are paying him $17 million. And that very much involved in that is we are going to be Friends now, and we are not going to make this messy. So we are going to put every bit of this on wins and losses and not bring up any of the messy details. Your miles go further with the Capital One venture card. "Coaches. He hired as his defensive coordinator who had a pretty good run as head coach at Nebraska. He was a really respected defensive mind, but it was not a sense admitted he did not even properly interview both cleaning and some other coaches for these jobs. I didn't even feel the last half. And I'm never doing that again. And this is a coach now running the one of the biggest defenses in the country who hadn't coached at the top tier in 6 or 7 years, and that higher turned out to quite frankly be disastrous. Robinson receiver near side and they'll hand it off. It's a huge home Rodriguez. Kentucky just gashing LSU in the run game. 21 yards. That defense seemed lost. There was at least one or two times a game where a receiver would be wide open because of just a miscommunication or a coverage bust where no one's covering them pretty simple. And yeah, it was the worst defense in LSU history by pretty much any margin. Well, Brody, you also wrote about a widening gap and some tension between the LSU players and Ed Eugene that reached a boiling point last year. Can you explain exactly what happened there? You know, he was doing a lot of PSAs during the pandemic about masks and all these things. Cover your golf with your elbow like this. Wash your hands thoroughly. A full 20 seconds. If you're sick, stay home. That led to him being on a lot of news channels and it led to him being on Fox News. Coach, thanks so much for coming on. You are right in the middle of this. The host asked him what he thought of a clip involving president Trump calling him and Nick Saban great people. What was your reaction to hearing the president in that new interview just now I know it was the first time you heard it? A little president Trump he treated us very well with The White House. I think he's doing a fantastic job. What happened is a roster full of primarily 18 to 22 year old young black man, heard that and heard a coach, their leader, saying that he loves a president who they perceived as having racist policies and not exactly seeing them as equal, and this is all happening, by the way, in the wake of George Floyd in the wake of so much protest happening in this country. Lincoln Riley marched with his Oklahoma team and Nick Saban a day later, marched with his Alabama team. And when else you did it, and it was Jean did not march with them. They all issue tigers were scheduled to practice Friday afternoon. That didn't happen, which was a big surprise to their head coach at auger. I was emotional when we found out we were practicing. They asked him to come march with them, and he initially did not. That did not help the situation. They marched to the president's office, and they spoke with the president for a short time. And when eventually he did go and meet them, they had a long meeting in the president's office and I would just say most sources in that room actually did not feel better about that meeting. They actually maybe felt more frustrated about that meeting. That's what I told. I need to know more about it. I mean, I don't go through the same things that they go through. I don't have the same feeling that they have. They face different things that I heard about them. I never knew before. That week in the program, really led to Azure on losing a large part of that locker room. He did eventually march a week later in another march with them. But the damage was quite frankly done. And then there's been a huge push across the entire university this last year to then get more diverse in their staff. So it was a push to get a staff that better connects to the players. And I think there were improvements made in that department, but I think the program as a whole was kind of too far gone and they weren't able to fix some of the problems. Well, that brings us to the last and possibly most damning things that led to edouard's downfall. It's what you wrote he called a, quote, massive title 9 scandal. And the newly single run's interactions with women. So can you break those two things down for us? First you start with the fact that LSU had several major players in their program be accused of horrific crime starting with star running back Darius geis, who kind of was Ed O geron's beloved figure who helped him get this head coaching job. Well, he was accused of rape by several women in horrific fashion and basically taunting them in the months and years after to try to keep them quiet. It was a foundational thing that led to an internal investigation through an outside law firm, when they report first came out, it seemed like, hey, Shawn doesn't look great here, but he is not necessarily the person being named. But then a woman named Gloria Scott came forward shortly after, and she was a woman who in the report alleges that at a high school game at the Superdome, she was a security worker in Darius came to basically came in sexually harassed her. The room was silent a 74 year old Gloria Scott told her story. He stands in front of me, and he said, oh, I like him like that like you. I said what? He said, yes, he said, I like having sex with older women like you. Scott's story shook lawmakers who were visibly shaken by what they had just heard. And basically she said she called LSU spoke to augeron and he did nothing about it. Now hoja denies that he spoke with her and I don't know if we'll ever get a perfect answer about what happened there. But that led to ojo now being implicated. And then you have a lawsuit against overdrawn right now. Ashlyn Robertson says she was raped by an LSU football player and that her boyfriend notified coach O's are on about the assault. According to the court records, augeron responded by telling Robertson's boyfriend to not be upset because, quote, everybody's girlfriend sleeps with other people. The suit goes on to climb, never reported the rape to title 9. Their office or any other entity at LSU. And again, he denies that and also the hush Blackwell report found that his denial was credible. He wasn't somebody who was proved to be in the wrong yet, but his name was attached to in that led to a messiness. And then you get to his personal things, and I hate to loop them together because they're not exactly the same thing, but it's still just the reality. Is that as we said earlier, Edo Jean, the height of his power and profession and the top of the world in Louisiana, he gets divorced to his wife of 23 years Kelly. And at ozer on then for the next two years, basically, enjoyed being a single man. And there were stories constantly around town of him, you know, pictures of him with women and bad, and all these things, and him always with a different girl. And there are stories of him bringing girls to the LSU football operations building. And there are stories of him hitting on an important LSU person's wife, and then that getting to the board and that leading to more anger. There was no smoking gun issue, but it was a constant black eye, I guess around things that these rumors kept circling, and all of a sudden Edo Jean's benefit the doubt, all that capital he had in 2020 was just wearing away. Well, Brody LSU, athletic director, Scott word, held a press conference on Sunday, as we mentioned, where he announced that at ojai would not be coming back to coach next season. Could you quickly walk us through that press conference? And what jumped out at you? Scott Woodward the athletic director, you know, he led this off by saying, at aujon is a friend. I want you to know at Osiris a friend. We're both Louisiana gas through and through. We both deeply care about this football program. And I will always be grateful for kojo's wrong. But he repeated several times, and so did the nose you're on. This is about wins and losses. I was the thing repeated over and over again that there is a standard at LSU. And if you don't reach it, we are not going to stand for it. We expect to compete for SEC and national championships year in and year out. We are proud of that standard and will always work to uphold it. I think what jumped out to me was there was a little bit of a weight lifted off that ocean or at least it seemed like it. And great, I think you said weeks to come to terms with this. I have no regrets. Not one day I was not going to have a bad day. I'm not going to Blake. I'll tell you guys that. You know, the circumstances that we haven't won enough games in the last two years, I totally get it. And as long as he's getting 17 million, he's not going to make things too difficult. So I think there's an element of this is in good faith. This is we are going to look back on you as the guy who won the title and try to keep.

"Augeron was on top of the college football world. But now, the LSU coach is on his way out. The news comes out today that el Shu head coach Ed overall will be out at the end of the season. Cocho said he'll still recruit for LSU and if the tigers get to 6 wins, he wants to coach in the bowl game. Today, the FX Brody Miller on the perfect storm of things that has turned augeron from Louisiana's favorite son into a coaching pariah. From wondering in the athletic, I'm honors kelto. Thursday, October 21st, and this is the lead. So Brody word came out on Sunday that LSU head coach Ed ogren would not be coming back to coach next season. Where were you when you heard the news? And what was your reaction? When it happened, I will be honest with you. I was at a little morning New Orleans music festival called breakfast. Enjoying myself a little bit and I knew it was possible was gonna come, but I have been told maybe not that morning. So what happened, I get the message and immediately just say, it happened. It had to walk away from all my Friends didn't say another word and just walked to my car where my computer was and got to work. How was the show up until that point? A great question. It was a very good show, Andrew too Han was doing great. But to your point of the reaction, I think the reaction at that point is, I don't know, I think it's a sad story. It's a story of a guy who both proved everybody who's been criticizing him of his entire life wrong, brought a team to the mountaintop, you know, finally got to be like I told you guys at a job that is his dream job, and then you see it little by little kind of end up where it is right now. It is a sad story. All right, well, there's a lot to unpack here. It's a pretty complicated cocktail of things that has led to his demise. And Bret, I want to start by rewinding the clock for a minute. Many people might have forgotten that when at ozer on was handed the keys to one of college football's biggest programs back in 2016. It was kind of a surprise to a lot of people. So remind us why that was the case. Yeah, I think you start with the fact that at ozone was, he was primarily known as kind of this glorified defensive line coach, who was this ace recruiter, but was pretty much made his name as a top lieutenant under, you know, really good programs, but he wasn't a scheme guy. He wasn't a guy who was calling offense or defense. And of course, there's the very important context that he also flamed out quite horribly at all misses head coach in the 2000s. And is the kind of flame out that you don't even see that often where they're just kind of written off quite frankly. You know, like people are we're just going to remember how bad he was at all miss and how his off the field behavior at all miss and kind of acting like a tyrant. Thinks he speaks about publicly all the time now. But on top of that, this is LSU. This is a big program, and they were hunting bigger fish or quote unquote bigger fish I should say. I like it. But I just think they could have done much better. That's really where Elijah here they swung for the fences and I think they settled. And to be fair, large chunks of Louisiana loved it. They finally had one of their own there. But there was a large chunk of people who thought this is now a glorified defensive line coach with a bad history being our coach. Do you think his personality and maybe his communication skills could have played a role in some of the skepticism surrounding him as well? Wait a second, guys. What a wonderful day. And I want to thank course miles an LSU family. I mean, there's something to that. It's an unfortunate way that people do just talk about it augeron is that they do hear the gravelly kind of Cajun voice and they tend to immediately jump to him being uneducated. I feel like I'm at home. And I just want a great tradition. I remember passing across that bridge many times wanted to be in that stadium and I can't wait to be in that stadium and represent the state of Louisiana. Joe burrow, he once said at oja is one of the smartest people he's ever known in his life, you know? And I think that is a part of it. I think that leads to a perception about him. It's just this brute, which is not entirely fair. Well, we all remember LSU's incredible 2019 season with Joe burrow under center. Some people, including, I know a lot of people in Louisiana like to call it the best season in the history of college football. You were covering the team at that time, Brody. What from your standpoint were the biggest keys to LSU's incredible success that year? Yeah, and I'm so glad you brought that up just because I think right now, a lot of people are trying to remove credit for 2019 and try to say see he was always a bad coach in 2019, he just lucked into Joe burrow and all these things. And I don't think I agree with that. I think when I was young took over in 2016 for less miles, there were a lot of problems in that program. There were cultural issues. LSU scheme had been kind of in the Stone Age for decades. They were just known as this old school ground and pound running team. And then all of a sudden at ojai, I give him credit for. He did change the way they practice and really add it to a team that played liver as games went on. And also, yeah, he found Joe burra. If I got him from Ohio State, I think he deserves credit for that. And he hired this no name assistant from the New Orleans Saints who was basically a glorified GA and Joe Brady to come over and be their past game coordinator and kind of create a scheme that became one of the best offenses in college football history. Perfect season national championship. As they say in the Bayou. Let the good times roll. LSU. Sits on the throne of college football. And I think there's a little bit of this guy had reached the height of his profession in life and he is now the most popular man in the state and a lot of I am going to enjoy this because, you know, I earned it and I proved everyone wrong. It's my honor to present the national championship trophy to coach and augeron and the LSU tigers. Brody, you have outlined in great detail. How things have come crashing down for since that moment. It's pretty complicated cocktail things. So let's start with the football side. What has changed within this LSU football program over the last two years, especially from a personnel standpoint that has led to them having some not fantastic results and a 9 and 8 record over the last couple of seasons. I think I had one person say if 2019 was a perfect storm of everything going right the last two years has been a perfect storm of everything going wrong. First off, you are replacing about 20 starters from a national championship team. That is never happened before. Unprecedented. They had to replace Joe Brady as mentioned before, and they're ace defensive coordinator Dave veranda, who became the head coach at Baylor. They had to replace so much of the core that staff from the top level guys to even their best graduate assistance analyst. It was a deep thing and that's happening right as a pandemic hits and it was just this perfect recipe of I think mistakes to be made. And of course, the big elephant in the room is at O'Shea made.

"It's not crazy. And one of the reasons why, is you look at the field and Georgia is just killing people, you know, they average 8.9 yards per play against Kentucky yesterday. It's not just the defense. But the thing with winning a national title is, once you get to that championship game, you're going to play somebody really good and I think to this point, Georgia, Georgia's defense is dominating, but they're not playing offenses like Oklahoma's. And part of that is there aren't that many offenses like that this year. You know, maybe Ohio State is so drew, I could see Georgia rolling all the way to the national championship game and then they got to play an offense like Oklahoma's. Yeah, it's definitely possible. Now I say that. And there's another undefeated team in their own state that they have to play Oklahoma state who I thought came back and won that Texas game and very impressive fashion. They have a good defense. When you thought Oklahoma was going to have Oklahoma state has it. Yeah, Jim Owens quietly has done a former duca system has done a terrific job. We had he should be at royals list broils award final. Should. Bob stoops and our pregame show did a really good breakdown of that four two 5 and what makes it so effective? And I think you know what? More people should be talking about what he's doing bedlam could be the biggest that's been in, I don't know when. I mean, I've done a bunch of battle games that felt kind of big going. And then they may have to turn around play again. Yeah. Yeah, I know. I mean, a lot to look forward to in the big 12. Let's finish up with this. The late game last night, Arizona state Utah, I feel like our perception of the PAC 12 changes every week. First it was Oregon's going to run away with it. Then Oregon loses to Stanford and here comes a issue. A UCLA was in there at some point. Usually, by the way, hosting game day this week when they play organ, that's a surprise. But Utah started out pretty rough lost to BYU and San Diego state. They made a change at quarterback to camera rising. Then they had this awful tragedy, Aaron Lowe, murdered. And I think that happened during they had an off week anyway. And since then, they've come back, and now they scored 28 unanswered 35 unanswered against the issue last night. And they're alone in first in the south now. Yeah, it's pretty wild. I mean, look, I had written covey on this PAC 12 network weekly piece I do and Britain coverage the receiver. He's a remarkable personality, just in terms of just the most upbeat person you're ever going to be around. And we talked a lot about the roller coaster ride, that program has gone with the tragedies, tied Jordan and now, you know, from a late last month. And then they get a nice bounce back when at USC through it all. And then you knew that place is going to be rocking last night. I mean, it's a really loud, fun place to be at for a game. And they really took it to Arizona state. Kyle winningham. You know, we both, I think, have a ton of respect for him and what he's done there. It was it was really, yeah. It's a story that I think people are going to be talking a lot more about just because of the heartbreak that that program has been through and how those players I want to say those kids, but they're mature, they're mature. And I think they showed the resilience and it's hats off to all those guys that Utah for what they've been able to do. And we gave them a shout out at the end of last weeks for beating USC, but now it's not just like, oh, they got a nice win. They could win this division, and maybe even in the conference if you watched the cow game Friday night Oregon needed a last second stop to keep from having to go to overtime against a one in 5 team. Kayvon thibodeau is out there wrecking people, and yet they still, their offense is just so average now without CJ verdell and with Anthony Brown, just kind of doing the bare minimum. So I think, you know, I know there's probably some people listening now going who cares? They're not gonna send a team to play off. Look, we're both out here on the West Coast. We still find PAC 12 football to be pretty compelling, whether anybody else cares or not. And I'm fascinated to see how the second half of the season plays out, especially like you said with what could turn out to just be an absolutely remarkable story with Utah. Yeah. It's going to be a crazy, crazy run in the pact 12, because it always is. So, as always, we look forward to your questions. You can send them to the audible pod at Gmail dot com. And we'll see you later.

"Had petered out. I also thought another interesting result in the Big Ten unlike a all kind of off down off the radar game was we talk about Nebraska and Scott frost a bunch. That's a bad loss. I mean, you lose to a Minnesota team that a few weeks ago lost to Bowling Green and also was down there. They're starting their top two running back. And, you know, here we are with Nebraska. I remember I did my hot seat update last week and had a bunch of Nebraska fans going no way. They are he shouldn't be on the hot. He shouldn't be even mentioned here because the AD and the president are firmly behind him. They've turned the corner. They're playing more competitive. And I agreed with all that, the thing my hesitance was all it's going to take is one dud performance in one of these other games that's not against Iowa or Ohio State, which I have still left. And sure enough there was one. I don't know if Adrian Martinez was fully healthy. He was fine passing the ball, but we did not see him really do a lot of damage running the ball. And here we are with Scott frost. I mean, just as an outsider, looking in, you know, neither one of us has been Lincoln. How confident do you feel like Scott Ross is going to get another year after? I don't think that person there are the people you're hearing from are wrong. I think that works really, really, really wants to avoid having to make coaching change. And there was a lot of optimism coming off that Michigan game, even though it was a loss, but now there are three and 5. Somehow Nebraska has already played two thirds of their schedule. The week that we're doing the midseason the mid season awards. And yeah, like you say, sort of play a house. I mean, I don't know that any game on that schedule you look at and go yeah, you know, he's definitely gonna win that game. Obviously Purdue better than we thought they were going to be. Wisconsin still seemed they had took all they could to beat army. Iowa, and then, you know, I don't know. I mean, I find it hard to believe that they're going to finish better than 6 and 6. And even that would require quite a strong finish. So if he is 5 and 7 and he's been there four years and he's had a losing record all four years, come on. I know it's a $20 million buyout, but you can't continue with that. By the way, we had kind of forgotten about Purdue. You know, Jeff Brom after that big win over Ohio State after that 2018 season after he got Purdue had to really give him a huge raise because he was everybody assumed he was going to go to the Louisville when they fired petrino back to his hometown. They're such that family is such an institution there. And it was really surprising when he opted to stay at Purdue. And then they just kind of fell off the map and hadn't really done anything in the last couple of years. In hindsight that went over Oregon state was better than we thought. They hung with Notre-Dame and now after winning this game, they are basically tied for first. I think they're half game behind Iowa. Yeah, I think that looks it's kind of a wacky wacky division right now, especially as we said, Iowa kind of sputtering a little bit. Turning the page to Oklahoma and Caleb Williams who followed up his Red River outperformance with just a monstrous game against TCU. I thought it was interesting that immediately after that or maybe even during the game, all the Vegas books reset their Heisman odds and Caleb Williams is now 7th. Now has the 7th best Heisman aunt, he didn't even play until last week. He keeps this up. Would you be comfortable voting for a Heisman winner who missed the first 5 ish games of the season? Depends on what the rest of the Heisman field looks like. To me, Bryce young is there. I think bee Jean Robinson terrific. But this does not feel right now. Like a very top heavy Heisman field. Every time you think somebody's going to step up, I mean, Kenneth walker didn't have a great game against Indiana. Dijon Robinson's had two great first halfs the fast two weeks and then gotten shut down in a second. People are starting to talk themselves into I feel like Kenny Pickett from Pitt because they're went in a bunch of games, but I feel like there's still a there's still going to be some skepticism there before that campaign takes flight. I don't know if. But why does it have to be a quarterback? You know, I feel like yeah, I mean, if I know, I feel like every couple of years it's like if ever there was a year for a default when Chase young, but yeah, Jordan Davis will Anderson came on thibodeau. There are some very, very good defensive players this year. And rather than just kind of talk yourself into I mean, I don't think Kenny Pickett's going to be in the mix at the end. But don't default to the Alabama quarterback. Now Caleb Williams could he could turn out to have like a Kyler Murray kind of finished to a season, but I still think there are going to be a lot of players out there who had outstanding full seasons. I'm not writing off Kenneth walker yet, even though he didn't have a hundred yards against Indiana. He's still the leading Russia in the country. Yeah. I don't think I would do it never say never, but it just doesn't seem like it would be fair to any number of outstanding players, even if they're not quarterbacks who did play the full season and had outstanding seasons the whole way. So is he a disqualifier for you? No, like I said, I'm not going to disqualify anybody. I like to see how the season plays out. I just think it would take a pretty pretty extraordinary circumstances. Now, one of those extraordinary circumstances might be if Oklahoma who up until last week, we thought was really shaky and living on borrowed time goes 13 NO. And that is starting to feel like a possibility. Now, I will say in the TCU game, they look like an Oklahoma team. There's this quarter 52 points, they're explosive. But their defense struggled, especially defending the receiver. And it was kind of like, oh, okay. This is like a vintage Lincoln Riley team. They're back to having to outscore people. Oh, I totally agree with you. It's makes for an interesting second half. I mean, you already said, I don't get credit for saying that offense was going to break out. And yeah, yeah. The Spencer shots on the sideline, like the whole thing of it's just he did not look like a happy camp. No, and you have people are going to throw the NI L stuff in his face and, you know, look. I mean, it's all it's all very, that's a complicated, but it's just like it feels like a lot of ways that you have such extremes going on with this. And I'm interested to see how it goes on, you know, it's been two weeks. He's definitely a super talented quarterback. And there's good pieces around him and you know I'm fascinated to see how this plays out. I mean, is this the year Oklahoma actually can win a national title? I was just going to ask you that because we talked about that in the off season. We were both on the first of all, we were under the assumption Spencer hour, be the quarterback. But we were also feeling like Alex French, you know, has been building toward this and that they're going to actually have a decent defense. And because of that, would this be the year that they actually get in and win a playoff game and maybe even the national championship? And I gotta say,.

"We had breaking news to address so much so that we had to scrap our original podcast intro and start over. So at augeron, the LSU coach who won the national title in 2019, even after his big win over Florida yesterday is out. The school and over on have reached separation agreement. Bruce from your understanding, he will still coach the rest of this season, but he's done after that. Correct. This had been going on for a little bit. You know, because at one point, I know, remember saying if you win the next two games, does that change it? And he was like, I think they've already made their decision essentially. And so when they beat Florida, even with like half a team, I don't think that that wasn't changing anything. You know, like it was just a matter of when does this get when does this get finalized in terms of the contract and everything and this isn't like a cause thing they're going to have to pay them a lot of money to go away. And I think the key things here is basically at ozone. It was not the guy that the new AED or else of a new ID Scott Woodward had hired. He's not the one, you know, he was there before. So it's crazy in this regard. It's 21 months from the time he wins a national title. And Scott Woodward and the new president, they want somebody else in there. So we'll see who they who they end up hiring. But it was just kind of the whole thing was a little bizarre in the regard of, you know, it's just it's kind of unprecedented in disregard because people can said this before. People don't talk about the genetic comparison, but it's really not the same thing, just because chiswick had the one year and I think that in this case, Scott Woodward has made some splashy hires. I mean, you got Chris Peterson when he was at Washington, he got Jimbo and he was at a.m., and now obviously the bar is going to be sky high, because not only do you have to win a national title like you better not have an off year after the national title or else they will fire you. Yeah, it's very NFL like it's very what have you done for me lately now. I think that he there was an appearance of instability because he hired Oklahoma last year and it blew up in his face spectacularly. You know, he changes out both sides of the ball this year with young unproven coordinators. And they start three and three. And with a bad loss of Kentucky. And I think people just felt like, you know, the national title season, he got hailed for that higher of Joe Brady. Obviously he brought in Joe burrow, it wasn't like schools were beating down their door to bring in Joe burrow, like he did everything right for that season. And they had a remarkable season. One of the best in the history of the sport. And then it just seemed like after that, he couldn't make a right decision. Now, I do think that if this had come out a week ago, everybody would be like, yeah, makes sense. They just beat Florida, 49 42. They're running game that was so dormant before took off. I'm not saying one game changes the whole course of your program by any means. But it's just weird timing to have this come out now. He gets to go on a victory tour. I think this is, I mean, the story of the 12 him after the 2019 season was kind of a feel good story of a guy who is born and Brad, Louisiana, when you think Louisiana, you think coach O having this big redemption and then less than two years later, he's out. This leads to the obvious question who does LSU go after now? That's a good question. I mean, I reported on our big news show Saturday morning that from my sources that there is a lot of interest from some influential people inside LSU who are really high on pucker from Michigan state. I'll Tucker was a Nick Saban assistant. He worked there. In the early 2000s, he knows the SEC well and not just from his time at all issue, but then obviously he coached an Alabama and coached his Kirby smarts defensive coordinator. He's done a really nice job at Michigan state. But he's only in year two there. There are 7 O, the interesting part of this is I don't know if Mel Tucker would make that move. Because remember, it was like, it was pretty awkward for him to make the move out of Colorado after one year to go to Michigan state. Boy, it is going to absolutely just crush Michigan state fans if they lose another coach to LSU. Michigan state is 7 O, they will be 7, and going into the Michigan game on October 30th. This is quite a high that the program is on right now. And so I can see it either way. I could see him being loyal to Michigan state. You know, given the timing, or I could see him being like, you know, I don't know if I can win an ash. I can have a lot of success here. I don't know if I can ever win a national title here. The last three LSU coaches have all won national titles. The last two of those have now been fired, which tells you how cutthroat it is. It's kind of like the way people view auburn is really more LSU now. But, you know, we did that you guys did that best best job survey. You surveyed a bunch of coaches around the country about a month ago. What are the top 5 jobs in college football and LSU is one of them. So they should have their pick of the litter. The kind of crazy thing you mentioned in the last miles getting fired, that actually happened though about almost ten years after he won the national title. If you look at what he did the next two years, I want to say, he should have been fired for that reason after, but he had a 500 record in the SEC the next two seasons after winning the national title. I didn't realize that until looking back at it, this morning. But then he ended up a couple years after having the 500 record. There were 8 no and played for the national title against Alabama. It's just, hey, it is a expectations are sky high, especially when the expectations are. You got to deal with Nick Saban. I mean, there's nobody else in terms of when that's in your division. That makes it that much harder. And I'm interested to see how who they get from here. If you don't get Jimbo Fisher, who obviously had worked at LSU on save and staff. And it's going to take a lot to get them, because he's paid a full fortune. I have no idea where.

"New Orleans to within a touchdown. The Raiders would hold the ball for the next 3.5 minutes. And with about a minute left on the clock here, 55 year old Carlson will kick it this to put it away. Good good hole kick on its way. Win First Grandma's burger with the call on Raider Nation radio 9 20. Might be worth pointing out at this point that the Saints went in as the favorite team. Raiders come away with the win by 10 34 24 the final Raiders to atone second to No starting last 15 seasons. I also started to and in 2017 they finished Six and 10. Raiders with three touchdown drives of 10 players, arm or their most in the game since 2000 for the Saints, meanwhile, one in one for a third straight season, they haven't started to know since 2013 there one and one this season with Drew Brees, a quarterback felt like we were not playing his fast and maybe is Justus is a shirt and confident You know, it felt like we ran the ball well, and really, for the most part. I know penalties. You know what the other day when you look at the stat sheet. It hurt us. Um, I think offensively we really just had one drive where it really set us back. You know, we had I'll have to holding calls and then Mention illegal block. You know that put us into like a third twentysomething situation. I think that was our first drive of the third quarter. But you know, you look at you look at what they're really able to do. Offensively, I think at the end of the half and then in the third quarter, obviously they did a great job of possessing the ball. I think they had 36 minutes of possession time. We had 23 24. So we know what wins football games and we know what makes it very, very difficult to win football games and obviously we made way too many mistakes out there in order to win the game one way to win football games to move the ball down the field and breeze. Average path length was 4.8 yard, shortest average past late by a player through two games. Since Brett Farve in 2009 earlier on ESPN Radio on Freddy and Fitzsimmons. Ian Fitzsimmons says this is really not anything that should be a stunner. Ready and neighbour, throw a football over 60 yards and probably four years. This is a rhythm offense, and they get their chunk plays on yards After catch. He throws guys open into space. And it's all designed in the offense on DH. That's where they get their their big chunk place his yards after catching you're going to start hearing Ah, Drew's done, Father. Time's Got him. Father. Time is undefeated. We all know that. It only has got him just yet Go backto last season. People are saying the same thing and completed 74% of his passes for nearly 3000 yards and only 11 games 27 touchdowns before I aunties will be able to push the ball down the field. For about 3 to 4 years Rhythm offense. They give Michael Thomas back. We'll see about weeks, six weeks seven. If we're still having the same conversations that quote Drew Brees has quote done. I'm not ready to push the panic button on him either. But There's some alarming things that you have to be aware of. And I guarantee you if we're we're sort of seeing it. One was Sean Payton, too, seeing as a head coach because he has a design an offense that you don't know how much longer you're hoping that Michael Thomas back next week. We'll see. But you may not have them next week. And if you're a quarterback is having issues pushing the ball past 15 2025 intermediate Mark. And that's something that has to be addressed. And the Saints falls short in Las Vegas against the Raiders. Derek Carr, meanwhile, three touchdown passes nine of 10 for 98 yards and a touchdown. On third down Derek Carr Engineering, four straight scoring drives in the 2nd and 3rd quarters, helping turn a 10 Nothing deficit into a 24 17 lead. Raiders. Taking advantage of the Saints struggles earlier on SportsCenter with Scott Van Pelt are Monday night football analyst Louis Riddick and Brian Greasy. You gotta put it into perspective. The last two years since Jon Gruden came back to coach these Raiders, they have not been good. Offensively, They have struggled to score more than 20 points in either of those seasons on average, And now through two weeks of this young season, they've scored 34 points. Both games, and it's been a combination on the ground with Josh Jacobs. We know that Gruden likes a bell cow back. He wants to feed him meat and potatoes kind of guy, and then you feature Darren Waller, who I think is one of the best tight.

"Live stream up to protect our health LSU head coach ed Orgeron delivering the message on Saturday and that's one guy having we want that you want to take orders from and to quote Forrest Gump I sure hope I know let him down I'm still learning today sports center all night on ESPN radio shared earlier Donovan Mitchell released a video Saturday giving an update on his status and says he is feeling better despite testing positive for the corona virus on Wednesday tissue Thompson yes PM reporter on outside the lines with more on Mitchell's teammate ready go bare testing positive Wednesday night in Oklahoma City Oklahoma's top health official is the state health commissioner his name's Brian **** and I got on the phone with him and he said they go bear was actually ill enough that they that he went to the hospital and that they tested him for both flu and strapped it came back negative decisions were made behind the scenes and he can't talk about go bare by name so he kept referring to him as the individual there's laws that say that health officials can not name individuals to protect her privacy but so he wasn't able to give me like really good details about why the decision was made who he may have had contact with but the decision was made to testament it took the standard amount of time right now to do the test and the timing was just such that they literally got the test results after six forty five PM in Oklahoma and the tip off is at seven PM so that's why it was that very dramatic moment as the GM had just gotten the call they ran out on to the court the win St city officials there was essentially a look at a meeting right there trying to decide what are we going to do you saw it on live television B. took the players off of the court as soon as they were notified the then decided that they were going to put the players into essentially quarantine they were confined to a locker room and testing proceeded to go from there and you know to assert that it just shows you how fast everything has been moving not just in sports but around the country not the other part of what many people are talking about is testing you have so many citizens out there trying to get tested right now it's so hard for people to do that but the jazz did get tested even though they didn't meet official criteria so why did they get tested the Oklahoma state commissioner health commissioner and the state epidemiologist in Oklahoma both agreed that this was a very unusual circumstance and they were really three reasons for why they decided to test the entire team in the staff members who have been exposed to go bare then it is a reality it happened on national television in a very large arena and they admit that the calculation was in part because there were lots and lots of people who could have panicked and they wanted to calm fears but they said the real decision why they wanted to do this was because these guys are similar to an immediate family you know like a husband a wife kids they live together they eat together they travel together they had a lot of prolonged exposure in in addition to this they looked at these guys similar to the way that they look at cruise ships and the passengers who were sort of getting stuck on these boats it's been wanted to transport them back to Utah and they wanted to get the best idea that they could about who is negative in whose positive one last thing I just want to make sure people understand if you get a negative test result it does not mean that you do not have it in the situation of the jazz team we could hear more and more guys testing positive for this it just takes days sometimes for the viral load to show up and have a positive test and that is ESPN reporter Tessa Thompson on outside the lines pistons Christian words self isolation after testing positive for the corona virus woods in the pistons play go bear in the jazz on Saturday March seventh Reds pitcher Trevor Bauer trying to be proactive might be on to something they are trying to organize a sandlot game idea from his teammate David carpenter and buy from our four major league and minor league players game would take place that does take place in Arizona Saturday in Brazil we had competition and winners and losers at a sporting event details next it's ESPN radio.

"A bell as you coach ed Orgeron in someone's bound to say go doctors and is often imitated never duplicated voice all gravel and great seems like destiny the coach would lead the purple and gold but his career's been full of twists and turns head of the national championship game ESPN's David Hale says is the legend of this by you man I had a chance to see a little bit David's work yesterday on college football live a yesterday afternoon the insight into the program is spectacular so be sure to check out ESPN daily also Packers fans I love you guys thank you know the funny thing is earlier I was accused of having buys from picking against the Packers I fall more in love with the city agreed they all the time by the way I love hanging out and it was gone to my favorite restaurant the country Milwaukee Calderone club go check it out this is an actual business insider Packers offers twelve dollar an hour twelve dollars an hour for seven hundred sellers take help clear snow before the playoff game what's amazing about this is they're offering twelve dollars an hour to seven hundred sellers that must arrive at six AM because they're expecting eight to ten inches now they'll be provided with shovels and the shovel my dad is a level of her game that won't take off until five forty in the afternoon here there twelve hours before the game for twelve Bucks an hour really just to help your team you are helping your team make sure that people have places to sit in those bleachers like that is a level of awesome fandom I mean if I put out a record like I can't even shovel my driveway I am I'm new to having a shovel full driveway and she bought a house in the driveways right it's kinda long I'm also kinda weak I get that and so the first time I went out to shovel and I was like this is no big deal like why is everybody make a big deal about it like four feet into the driveway with ten inches of snow down I was like I'm not I'm not I'm just going to like drive over it and see what happens which was a terrible decision by the way that was not good I really thought I was going to take my house up twice so you know that that dense I another more respect seven hundred settlers twelve Bucks an hour going in in the cold outdoors shoveling a stadium twelve hours before game god I love Green Bay I'm just say in the meantime couple other pieces a news announcer gets caught up with Mississippi is hired Mike leach Mississippi state I should say sorry as hired Mike bleach to come over from Washington state the press conferences in the state of Mississippi just got incredibly interesting the egg bowl just got incredibly interesting because now what you have is Michael each person's lane Kiffin I want all of that I want every answer that but that's also be honest about something Michael you to has an incredible winning percentage might lead to has won a couple of different locations remember he was eighty four forty three Texas tech we were talking about a a coach that is one of the highest level multiple programs he now goes to the S. easy work at best at best let's be real things go right that program on a whole on the whole not not the Jack years not not one or two years but if you're looking at a five to seven year period at best that program will not be as good as likely over the next five to seven years Georgia Florida Alabama LSU Auburn if you could whom I miss Alabama LSU Auburn I'm Mrs somebody on that side at best you're looking seven seven best team in the SEC so in a world where there's constant conversation about playoff expansion whether you want whether I want it doesn't matter that's not conversation Avenue in a world where there's a constant conversation about the fact that there is a consideration for automatic page for conference winners yeah does matter what you want doesn't matter what I want there's just the the the conversations are happening behind closed doors that are being reported on the coaches are aware of my please just went from the pac twelve where if things break right every few years he could have a shot the Washington last couple years you would have had a shot at the playoffs he decided instead of that to go to the SEC they're gonna be a lot of cash and I'd be really interested to see what long term what the Mississippi state expectations are for that cash because of the and the expectations just relevance congratulations you got it if the expectation is to go out when the SEC good luck with whoever your nasco chistes first and last any is B. Aradia speaking of coaches the giants introduced Joe judge Joe judge gonna be on gold can we go seven thirty A. M. this is it this morning seven thirty AM eastern you don't wanna miss it why am I speaking with so much excitement because that's a level of segment producer extraordinaire Devin had this morning is he came in this is a life long giants fan yeah and this comes down to the fact that Joe judge and we had some questions about about yesterday if we're going to give credit to Matt rule for one of the press conference let's give that same credit yesterday for Joe judge who came in and won the press conference yesterday one of the questions he was asked and I think people are curious is what he learned not just from bill Belichick but from NYC saving but even more importantly what he learned from bill Belichick this is what he said his answer the flexible within your personnel don't try to shove round pegs in the square holes figure out what you have what the play to their strengths don't set a meeting and tell me what you don't have an a player don't tell me they can't do a certain thing tell me what they can do and then we'll figure out as coaches because that's our job how we can use that that energy he got rolling a little momentum here standing up on your arms Devin I don't have any air miles yeah I mean he had a piece of paper he had some notes written down he didn't need it he spoke from the heart is a football guy and I know we talked yesterday about like you know when you hear code a new because the first time that you always excited because you're you're looking back at what was he he he was not the same as Pat Shurmur is pressed hours this is not the same this is completely different okay that that's that's perspective that I appreciate and I welcome I got there is a difference to that and I look if there's any one thing right now that I think Joe judge can say it most coaches can't say that were hired they will go in and immediately released him to the most important position on the field because let's be honest judge judge will be judged by whatever happens with Daniel Jones in the early portions court correct right we all agree with that so when he sits down with Daniel Jones what can he say man one time I just respect or talk about nobody believing any when you got your dream job I know that feeling so what now what what are we gonna do with it that's in there there is a connection that I think is possible from that is in just even in just that one element that one story okay I get you because I'm going to the same thing now together what are we gonna do we gonna prove them wrong how we gonna do it like that there is a level of connection to that the last I I strongly believe in and and look in the the early portion of this what have we heard mark as per se so often they eat respect is earned right you get what's earned and in a locker rooms people want you to have earned it coming from the patriots in and of itself could be enough to earn it but being able to come in and take the way he's been received and use it as as a message that his team actually by as into using it as a believable message the connection with the players in that locker room that will earn respect is a human level to that judge judge yesterday came in with energy and we're gonna get Matt rule all sorts of credit you guys know that I don't love press conferences for coaches but if not roll one his then Joe judge certainly one has also not ruled out an a plus for is judge judge got an a plus for his as well that's all **** for standard judging now we'll see because the real judgment will start today a what it means for the organization moving forward the guy's going to speak to Joe judged by the way again I'll go going on this morning they'll also continue to preview the divisional round of the playoffs this weekend this is Ben first and.
