"State Point shaving that occurred back in the eighties. Las vegas that that solid coming because they could tell the way the money was coming in on these games and they alerted the. Ncaa wasn't the other way around. So time the bidding operator is actually your best protection against any sort of fixing now. No doubt and that you know that that is also true when it comes to identifying patterns or if there's if there's something you know on our side of the fence The that you know is pretty readily identifiable That wagering pattern or you know when there's these cancellations The the attempts to manipulate The pools you know. It's funny you as you were talking it also Made me think of a story. I read and and The details of of something. I read on the sports gambling front. It's kind of funny rich that we we. We've we've we've had a real sports gambling conversation. Which is a happy to have it. and then people you know people are interested in. Obviously it's related to you. It's related to the horse racing. It aside through through the gentle side of things. But i did see something that that captain jack captain jack andrews wrote about I don't know if you saw this on twitter That he'd been he'd been contacted about Somebody that Had taken advantage of a An offer from one of the one of the wagering companies one of the sports betting companies like a five hundred dollar. The free bet Which he promptly took advantage of in hit and then when he went to withdraw the couldn't get the money out and in the fine print of the of the terms and conditions There were there. Were some details that that gave the company in question was william hill and it it absolutely gave them an avenue to refuse to basically take back The money other than the you know the original offer the original five hundred that have to be bad. I mean i. it's it's a very involved and detailed topic but it it. It made me immediately. think that this was one of those topics where people if people say when there's a controversy around Around racing and around a wagering gaffe or you know something that one of the one of the tracks or or one of the dwp. There's something controversial and everybody says only in racing Would this happen. Well no not only in racing. I it it it happens across. Virtually any any walk of not just gambling life. But you know it's also true mean you can probably tie it to the financial markets as well and so forth and and you know working with the well. You saw what happened over the game. Stop thing with With a right. I mean there. There is another perfect example so but one of the things that that has happened here that has become really evident. Is that a sports wagering companies. Don't want and don't want anybody sharp. They only want they only want squares to come in and be basically raped the that anybody that that they identify as a as somebody that you know is is sharpen is going to win. They limit their action. And this is you know if if you're if you're following you know like i referenced. Earlier about you know seeing the kind of of plays that sports bettors that sophisticated sports bettors are making it. This is also a case where the the same sophisticated players are being just You know totally rebuffed too. Because the the the you know the the books are limiting their action. So there's a there's a lot of there's a lot of moving parts to what what's going on here and If they think that they're just going to. I guess they can make a living. Just off of you know off. The people that are going to lose is that is that their marketing concept. Or you know that's a very interesting topic that you up because it does get discussed and it is a real thing in the sports betting world in here in nevada. There are some operators better known that they will not take large bets They basically action from squares and the for people who are not familiar with the term square is basically squares or like recreational players not professionals who bet large amounts of money but the squares are of like someone. Who's just you know bets. The four football games the fifty five dollars each. You know on the sunday the you know there. It doesn't really put in the work. And you know the fish more recreational all fun activity but But you know sometimes squares. There's no question about that. But the the the the sharps the pros are the people that the gambling outfits are frayed because basically the thing about booking mutual horse racing in booking sports bets you can lose money on a game if all the monies overloaded on one side and the sharp smell a bad line and you know jump all over you so you got to be very sharp and know what you're doing and you know it's kind of it's kind of unfair the the thing that you can turn all his business but i guess they do have a right to accept any wagers for many customers that they want so you know in the example that you gave i hadn't heard that but that's unfortunate that The they got that fine print. Actually maybe possibly cheated person out of winnings When that happens but the word to the wise. You.

"I think fifteen years unbelievable well I i'm happy for any number of brown fans out there that i know and doggy up. Sure he's he's been quiet though. I haven't seen much from doug but them sure he's bouncing off the walls but facebook The nice there's some. There's some chaff with the weep but When it comes to digging into something is pretty incredible. Now that that. that's that's that's true. That's true of many cevantes. That's the fills the rainman The rainman category in people's rolodexes. I love it Ed derosa everybody. Ej too so tomorrow evening. Six fifteen i post at turf way for their second week of racing and it features a sixty seven thousand dollars pick five carryover that probably you know probably gets between four and five hundred thousand. Everything's added up i. I think it'll be four times so figure another figure that three hundred thousand. At least i and and i'm i'm of late. I've been surprised regularly. i've been sort of not low balling on purpose but You know the usual measurement. I use I i've been surprised. The repeatedly the numbers of come in higher. So i'm saying four times you know figure three hundred thousand and i won't be surprised if there's another you know seventy five thousand or more so i think it will. I think it'll be close to four at least all right well money to go after. And based on what we talk about. I i could see you know fifty the dollar payout or you know maybe ward and maker and cox when they're races and it's a little lower but Whatever your opinion is the drive home this going to be an overlay. Always find ed derosa with some handicapping opinions. For turf way and conspires. Play from their patio or poolside. You know casually get to come over for horses of their own that run and and so forth Everybody'll everybody will make do i mean The the industry has done an amazing job. Making do you know really. Since this whole thing began one thing gosford park really ran through the worst of it. And we set our protocols so strong so tight We didn't miss a day from start to finish so our hr department health and safety department even the horsemen. Everybody stood together and we got the job done. Well there was. There was some very anxious. I if people don't remember i mean the in march when this thing you know really raised. Its its horry ed. "He's never. Comes up with yeah and take a look. I think he's going to take money and he may be. He may be a play against Eddie Colletti sends wait for it. The Uptown Charlie Brown gelding. And he's making a synthetic start for the first time as well, and you know the horses at at presque. Sometimes the locals. They have it all over the the invaders and So. It's a tricky could be a tricky read. It's got some of that Charlestown feel to it sometimes. Hooky I've definitely place I have not figured out. The And I'm just looking through here. If glance I can storm, advisory Storm Advisory, what are we getting on? What are we, ten. To. One Storm. Advisory. Stretch out but Looks Okay Round pots got tutor expectations. Lawn Dart for Lance stokes. It's a cute name. Has At least one race that would be competitive. This this is this is a tricky I. This is a race worth looking at. That I shall do it. Excellent change later. So that'll be that'll be my. Perfect, time perfect. Ed Derosa. EJ Xt to and the Ed very important question what what is the status? In your neighborhood will there be trick or treating. There is there is sort of. Kinda neighborhood organize more than blessed by the county but You know we're we're a small rural neighborhood. So GONNA leave bags on the porch and no groups outside of your family. But yeah, we're the kids are excited. Nice well Halloween Halloween's almost as big as Christmas. It seems in little I run up it's crazy and maybe that's just like being from from. Ohio which Oh you of course has a very well known Halloween party. But yeah, I mean we took retreated grown up but it it wasn't like it is now and then like you said, maybe that's more little thing than anything but. It's It celebrated here. That's for sure. Well when when there would be breeders, gops when when shock when Chuck's lived in in He lived in Audubon Park. And I'd be staying with Chuck and there would be breeders cups that overlapped. Halloween very often the it's been on Halloween In fact, the last keeneland right the last keeneland Breeders Cup was Holloway. Chuck. Chuck and Paula had had no interest in in in in in doing. The trick or treating but for me, it was a big deal because I'd been away. For so many years. For Breeders Cups where I couldn't be home and here in our village you know we'll get two hundred kids ingredients. And the OH. Yeah. Easily and. There were years when I. First got here. I used to have to I used to have to go run to the store and get more candy. I mean crazy. But When I was when I would stay with with Shaq and Paula in Audubon Park I would do all the preparations and I would carp pumpkins them, and and and then they would go out to dinner and they would leave me th the house because they they they had no interest and and of course, chuck and Paula had like six watts. So every time a kid would come to the door. The chihuahuas would go crazy I. It was it was like a scene. Like a scene from a Situation Comedy. A lot of fun a lot of fun so. Yeah I I got out of it when I got older kids and but now you know just whether it's with them or just seeing the other around the neighborhood Glad to have some version of it this year. Nice. At derosa everybody EJ xt to and. We'll talk next week and Breeders Cup dead. Looking forward to it. Let's stay right here. We got fifteen minutes to close out the morning and Seth Merrill was standing by and. With. Seth having moved toward Saratoga to the Boston the spies seth the the you have. You got trick or treaters that. I just saw a note on the door of my building the complex is GonNa do trunk or treat. So? I'll I'll in the parking lot you open up your trunk and you put in I guess it'll be more of a limited kind of a timeframe but people you know kids will be able to walk around the the the parking lot and grabbed her candy and go where costume. So we've got something going on. So. Explain this to me again what what what what? It's called trunk or treat. So I I'm assuming from the no Assan the door you open up your trunk and you have your candy in there and the kids you know there's no going up and knocking on doors just kinda mingled through the parking lot area go trunk to trunk and Grab Candy. Interesting. Interesting. Different concept but I had to keep from laughing as as put. Casey put me on with you guys because I didn't want to interrupt the story but. You've got the nicknames for me. I'm calling you now Mr Halloween if you show up at somebody else's house at Halloween, you're the guest and you do the Halloween and they go out to dinner. Story. Yeah you are numbers for Halloween. I know I miss that I you know you you've been degreen, which is you know it it's the this is like an Americana. There is good news they we are apparently. Having the Halloween parade it we actually. We used to have the Halloween parade. Every year would always be the first the Saturday before. The Saturday before Halloween. So the Halloween was on a Wednesday, the previous weekend. And for many years, it was great and then the kids dress up with what they're gonNA be and they. I mean they obviously, they closed the street and there's a parade. Greenwhich Green, which is typically he's got. People told this story before I mean we we typically will have. You know fifteen parades year th-. This town is it's ridiculous. and. I. It's been a bad year for parades. Obviously, we had Memorial Day parade that somehow came off. But. We didn't have Coming up for for light tractor going to do with that. I. I don't think. So either, I don't think there's any way that they cancel the lighted tractor holiday parade. With it has become a big thing in in green witch. This is all all the farm you know. Surrounding communities, they they deck out there their tractors with Christmas lights. Then they they typically will have a a hey wagon and they'll they'll be they'll be dragging a hay wagon and those are all dressed up. It's it's the craziest thing and. The usually after Thanksgiving right after. Thanksgiving typically, and it's become a mammoth success I mean fifteen twenty, thousand people throng you know this tiny little hamlet. Western Pennsylvania. For you for you Groundhog Day fans. The it's really special. Did you come? I can't remember if you actually came. Because, you get there for the last couple of years and have gotten up. So maybe maybe not well I don't know this year what what are the hell are they going to? Limit. Fan. But it's outdoors at least it's outdoors. So that helps. You can't have an indoor parade I don't think I mean they figured that out yet but. Now Tina. We'll see about this We'll see about Halloween here but I I like I, I love it I I. Love You know. The kids come you know. It. It's always funny to you get. There's like waves I. There's I. There's the little toddlers before sunset than as the sun goes down here comes the you know the prime time for. Halloween and then come the you know.

"They're trying to lighten the load on our little bit and see if they can't get her heading in the right direction a little bit. So I just briefed her half a mile and she was. Well in hand and I was looking forward to run on her to tell you the truth and You know she's she's been just like you said very easy to handle. She goes out there and does a job and got Evan Roman riding her so I'm hoping she'll certainly run well for all of us and and then diametric she's a horse that. Boy She stumbled bad and darn near went down in the race before and we've been kind of letting her Stay, up a little bit closer to the pace and thinking you know we might try to anchor her the first time this time and see if she'll sit back and make a big run them horses she big strong Philly and you know hopefully she can. She can reach her potential at some point. Let. Me also ask in the next race on Friday I. Do see that you've got. Ill upon me a warriors reward philly that has really out runner or her auction number. She was a three thousand dollar purchase. She's made fifty grand and. She's coming off of a starter allowance when seems like you know seems like you know the the summer was good to her and feels like she's With added maturity feels like she's moving forward. He's the horse that said a kind of a taller lanky things. She never she was hard to keep weight on when she was young horse because she was just you know she needed to come a lot further and I believe that philly starting to get better as she gets older she'd been very sound for me and at the same time. I. Think he's carrying better flesh right now than she ever had in her life. So I am kind of expecting her and she showing her form she's getting better with age So she finally starting to come around took her long time to get the job done and then when she did you know she really got it done nice and tell you the truth We certainly wouldn't. You know we don't WanNA hesitate to start on dirt again because they're racist and just an over the top four. She's been really good on the synthetic and But at this time, we'll trying to protect your just touch to see if she keeps going in that right direction too. Handicapping the Breeders' Cup

"It is finally here the world championships the Breeders Cup for the thirty six time and for the tenth time at Santa Anita it's time to handicap the world championship hip and for that we bring into our experts one we've had regularly and one for the first time we welcome back Ed Derosa of the brisket handicapping service and for the first time we bring in Molly Joe Rosen we followed her on twitter a lot it's good to finally bring her onto the show so again we said we're not going to handicap all of these races were GonNa pick the seven or so that we think have really good competition and will go with those and we'll start on the Friday card with the juvenile a race that has been diminished a bit with the defection of one of the early favorites Max field for Godolphin so we're really left with three big horses here to talk about Denis's moment the favourite eight rings and Scabbard Dennis's moment has been very consistent through his writer in his debut and then just missed a track record at Ellis Park can you really call a two year old and overwhelming favourite. What do you think here let's start with molly I think it's right open race I could not touch horse at eight to five not as you said not with two year olds you know making third and fourth fifth career starts I mean to me that just is crazy and I love him think he's phenomenally talented could wind up being the second coming of Secretariat obviously he's a freak of nature having won his to really his to start saying oh he's got that through the writer and the debut but you know he's one by twenty one lane I mean you can't knock a horse like that Dale is great with these types of horses he's prepped well he's looked great you know you take nothing away from him but eight to five in a eight Horsfield because not a MAC field scratch I can't touch a horse at eight five I do think it is a really wide open race I'm GonNa look at other horses you know take nothing away from eight rings also a horse who has done nothing wrong also worth who lost a job I do think a horse like scabbard for me is more interesting this is a horse who breaks his maiden by five then steps up and they had some has some learning to do and Eddie neely is great with these types of horses and I think if you're looking for price and you don't WanNa go towards one of the more so obvious sources for me a horse like Scabbard who's on the improve has really done nothing wrong in his career but you know seems to have maybe you have to overcome some some tendencies to find rebel trips of course to me like Scabbard is super intriguing? Ed What do you think well we're we're going to write off the rip because I'm all in on Dennis's moment and he's the only horse I'm using molly Jo Sung as praises appropriately and with the scratch AMAC's field unfortunately is is backers aren't even eight to five now so if that wasn't good enough for you Molly Joe I'm sure you're not gonna be happy with even money or six to five but the this horse You know the maiden win at Alice just blew everyone stores off so what can you say super professional in the Iroquois though defacto second career start I read got a handle for this horse got to test drive them so to speak and we've seen Dale ship out to the who've no at Santa Anita perform well with not this time it was second do horse I had a lot of respect for classic empire so I think he's early the horse to be an in a very competitive Friday car he's my big single day I'm with Molly I think scabbard had some trouble in finishing second today this is moment in the Iraq war and I think it's GonNa come down to those two I'm not discounting Dennis as moment but I think scabbard has to be more seriously considered than five to one lead move to the filly and mare sprint I'm really torn here about cafe when we get to the Saturday card I mean she won the Edgewood and the Miss preakness so maybe I'm not as impressed as other people are by the way she runs ed can she run her race from the rail She can for me either the bigger question and the rail is a question the bigger question is is shipping out west and she is not coming for a bar and that is it's been out there very long Dale with Dennis's moments that we talked about shipped out about a week ago see Asmussen's been there with his crew for seven her week so I am eager to see how horses on Friday to that hadn't chipped in versus the ones that have been there awhile local horses etc if I perceive a bias in that regard that might sway me offer as the favorite I will say on raw talent I absolutely think she is the best filly in this field for test was incredible energy titan or Churchill albeit against lesser was what you would want to see he coming into a race like this offer race like the test so I'm a believer but keeping an open mind and this is one of those cases where I am going to use information as it becomes available throughout the Friday card to see how liberal liberal I wanNA use her on Saturday molly what do you make of come dancing I'm not saying how do they poll she's got two and a Half Lake leaving don the destroyer next toward the inside at third special relativity first half of the year then the second half clearly has talent what do you make of her you know she's obviously you know a a really really lovely horses cool to see Carlos Martin on the big stage I I've known Carlos a real long time and he's just a phenomenal horsemen and She did have you know crazy good first half of the year her her win margins were certainly bigger flashier there was certainly more space there but running second to midnight visa in the VIPs you know other than that she's comeback her ballerina was beautiful her gallant bloom was beautiful I do worry a little bit about whether or not she can run in a straight I'm and that especially at Santa Anita we've seen over the years what was her name the Philly that ran second to beholder in the the distaff I wanNA say executive privilege we've seen horses who may not be able to run in a straight line not get there in time Santa Anita in the past and that concerns me a little bit when you do have other really consistent Phillies in here like FFA ed do you see attention long shot here in this race because I'm not loving come dancing I liked but don't love cafe what about dawn the destroyer will become a from the back and I guess you were saying you gotta see the Friday card to see whether anyone really can close at Santa Anita but what do you think about a long shot here that's actually and afterward oh so is this a matter where if you don't like the two favorites you chuck them and use them all I could see that as a strategy especially if you really where let's move to the turf to the mile not the dirt mile we'll get to the dirt mile let's go to the Turf Mile and here you've got to Phillies the headliners got stormy and Uni but now you've got circus maximus with a real European threat here it's not been the best year for eight and O'Brien really do you trust circus maximus here not in any way shape size or form and not at that price just in case you're wondering if I

"Brian Good Morning Komo how you doing excellent and you know the we talk a lot we talk a lot about the regional programs and Maryland millions last week and they got the Ohio people this week and you know go back to the end of the Press Kyle season we had the two year old and Pennsylvania obviously people are taking advantage of the opportunity to to race in Pennsylvania and drop their foles absolutely and as you know the great news it came out this week is that Pennsylvania's up twelve point five percent in mayors red when I look at the number because I did a a you know report myself of say how come we're only twelve point five percent well there was a is a mix up with the uptown Charlie Brown I looked at him he had one mayor Brady actually had seventy three Mares Brit and they straightened that out there apparent elitist mix up the jockey club so that was straightened out yesterday so be add his seventy two on there we're actually twenty four percent over over last year and actually I think we're we're probably going to be up a little bit more net whenever he says everything said and done but you're right I mean Optical are are are GonNa go where the program is the is is the best and I think one of the most important the things is the collaboration we have with the horsemen groups at at the retraction Pennsylvania you know they they're very good about helping Pennsylvania program and You know we paid out over thirty million dollars eight years in a row looks like we're going to be had that number again this year so a lot of good things happening NPA the advantage for those that you know the track this kind of information and it's ebbs and flows I mean there's there's programs that a that have had trouble all you have to do is look at New Jersey and whenever there's uncertainty mayor owners breeders whether they're breeding to race or breeding commercially. They're going to go where they can plan ahead and nobody wants uncertainty and ah that that really has been the continuity and there were some there were some concerns about the the money that that comes toward the the breeding and racing in Pennsylvania that bloomer those those fears were allayed though and and you know the state stands Harrisburg understands the benefits of supporting the program given what it does for the farm community and all the trickle down economies correct we three years ago we put the Racehorse Development on in a trust Why don't sweat say we legislate Peter's put it in a trust and so people are now confident that that money is going to be the air because you know like you said you know commitment is in for a year your commitment coming in it's probably five or six years and the getting some you know some more running in you know you're seeing that with the with the new standards that are coming into Pennsylvania I mean with the opportunity the Warriors Reward Uptown Charlie Brown's doing Doing fantastic uncle Lino peace and just this we just Dr Solomon at Pin Oak Lane form Just ince contract for Normandy in Beijing becoming in another tap it so you know things when when people are confident that you know programs on the right track you know you'll see you'll see that by you know the uptick in the Palm Mares bread and and home owners coming in the mid Atlantic we talk we talk on a regular basis this summer and into the early fall with with Alan Norman and the match series and we had a Lotta conversations about Virginia and the the reboot of of racing there and there's you know there's really kind of an inter- intertwined network really for for people that that race in the mid Atlantic I mean with all the the various program awards that breeders and again whether you breathe a racer or you breathe to sell it folded in Delaware certification and Virginia certification and then if you dropped your foal in Pennsylvania Oh my God it oh you I've I've said this a few times can you can literally win a purse and all the awards could be seventy five percent over and above what you want is a purse right I mean you can you can look at that horse was bred by peasy Patterson and Vicki so we call Paul who WanNa Delaware certified the stake a young won a couple of stakes in Pennsylvania a bread I mean you just you know you can't ask for anything better what run down the awards we haven't talked about this in a long time what are the percentages and are they structured well Both breeders and owners benefit from the plan are free your award for maiden made races is fifty percents are a breeder that's horses twenty five percents so we're taking care of them to any other races the Breeder Award Forty Percent Twenty Percent for others owner bonuses up to forty percents at parks and twenty percent of pen and thirty percent at Chris Kyle we have hundreds of restricted races every year we just put in a waiver of Maine claiming So any maiden want us I'm sorry not any meaning Clinton but at at Penn gene maiden claiming race it's twenty five or higher you can waive the claim if you have a PA at parks it's the maiden claiming twenty where you can waive the wave the claim when we wanted to we wanted to give our breeders and opportune unity to get back some of that money that they put out and they're harder time and effort before the horses eligible declined because as you know in Pennsylvania decent Pennsylvania bread boom that's suckers gone and we we also have have discussed you mentioned call Paul who's competed at the highest level but the the string of Pennsylvania bread great at stake with there's and Breeders Cup runners winters I it the whole program has has just gotten better and better given the quality of bears that the state has attracted and these are successes that kind of feed on on themselves and you mentioned Pinot there's there's any number of people that that understand these dynamics and are going to take advantage and that's why the mayors are showing up and it's a boon to a farm operators in the breeding operators absolutely I mean we're we're breathing we're seeing an increase in the number of foles and also an increase in the quality. I mean we have Prince Lucky running tomorrow and a bold ruler we have mirth that pre entered in the the only American her while we have daddy is a legend who ran a nice racer yesterday a tune-up for the matriarch stakes so you're seeing you know you're seeing this happen you know to eclipse award winners last year Shamrock rose and Bella Unique Belvedere before finest city year before that so you know we're just you know we're we're we're we're

"Jeff Good Morning Good morning how you doing excellent and lots to digest. We've already talked to the J ribbon earlier this morning morning. I want to get your take on what went on about the racist we discussed last week including the the upset which I think is less shocking talking than people. The people are are feeling. It didn't seem upon further review that Mongolian groom was all that impossible well. He wants to me I mean I thought he'd run well but I I really I'd watch McKinsey working. I thought he was ready to roll. Oh and just looking at the form I thought that he would win and he he moved to the top of the stretch like he was going to pounce and then he kind of flat out and I I always had a little sense of doubt that maybe he wasn't quite amount of quarterhorse but this is only a mile and they and I was disappointed and I think Bob Baffert with two do I really was an he's made in announcement that he's going to replace my Smith with a writer that we don't know who's going to be. I'm sure all the the agents are kind of hanging around trying to throw their hat in the ring but yeah I mean I it was I mean it's it's just it's the nature of the game here. We've you see this happen a lot and perhaps the real the real important racist coming up a month from now but if you've you know food for thought as to whether or not the horse that we also at least I thought was the number one older horse in the country. is really that much better than everybody else and amount of quarter. I think it's anybody's game now fold in as well the the result at the Jockey Club Gold Cup and what did you think of the takedown and who do you favor of the two of them coming out west well. I'll tell you what that I I was kind of hoping that it didn't come down and even I thought the three year old is going to win the race going in and what am I ran well. I thought he I thought he had every chance to get by but it was a tough. It's tough to lose a race lightweight like way when push came to shove and unfortunately for her also did come to push he he hung in there I think both both of those are deserving the universal. I'd come already come out west a winner racer over the summer so we subtract and so they'll meet again it's I I. I was talking about this. The other day was Zoe on our podcast and we we were pretty much not baffled. I don't think that's the way but kind of open to in trying to figure out who might win the plastic doors so many possibilities now so many horses that look like they're capable title stepping up some of them that look good or maybe vulnerable so I duNNo. We'll be watching the next couple of three weeks to see who trains the best. Maybe maybe we can come up with a conclusion but right now now. It's really a mess we'll wait till they get the decisions. The final decisions horses like a late and late would add another wrinkle visit I think they're thinking mile and a quarter and the boys aren't that top much tougher for maybe the midnight DC would be if he ran against her again and and a mile an eighth in the in the the staff so that would that would certainly make an interesting well a couple of other thoughts jeff about last weekend the reasons we discussed filled D'Amato just a of magical a couple of days pee wee reese on Friday mirth and Cleopatra Strike in the Rodeo drive and the John Henry able to Geo Story. I keep coming back to it because what can you say and then Sunday Paradise Woods and I ask you the same question that I brought up up with Jay and I asked Sadler too Sadler Sheriff's the other day if she runs that race of the distaff she's she's a major major player and I know she's a notorious in and outer but I thought that was a terrific effort it was it was accomplished under under pristine conditions sitting right outside a speed horse with nobody all rounder nobody in front of her nobody beside her with kind of like a workout for but she did feel the deal as she finished strongly and she earned a beyer speed figure that was something like eight or nine points better than they were not that that means anything but bottom line is she ran really well now whether or not she can do that again I don't know if he pointed out not exactly your model of consistency and I thought maybe your best days were behind her but boy did she work well and I I I yeah I mean you have to go. You have to think that going into the dispatch. This definitely has a legitimate chance I mean if she decides to show up with a game the thing that we're going to start talking about Jeff when when when I'm at clockers corner and and we're watching horses work and when we analyzed the the XP TV workouts leading up to the race between you and Millie Ah Zoe is going to be fitness levels and the one thing you're not going to have to worry about John. The sheriff's Baffert and Sadler is is fitness of these horses on that racetrack and that's going to be a huge factor and I'm I'M GONNA keep referring to the east coast horses that went to del Elmar for the Pacific Classic and God drowned on that deep surface and Steve Asmussen asked me to his credit with with tenfold he learned his lesson and went out early with Mottola because he is not gonna get caught on that element he wants his horses. This is ready to travel over that surface and it's going to be something we we really focus on and then I'm sure in the recap you know after breeders Peter Scott. It's GONNA come up well down. Mars is eat but it's it's not it's not any deeper than in Santa Anita where this is not the old Santa Anita track backwards you know three quarters in eight and change all all day long I mean you have to be did fit to run on. This track is deep. You just tiring you you have to train over it. I think I think it really helps and yeah I think it's going to be very important to to to watch the works and I I do think it's going to be a great advantage for horses to get in early and get a beast of one or maybe even to work over the drag your possible because it's it's not it's it's tough. It's it's it. It's deeper than New York and Belmont Park is I'm convinced of that and I know Belmont to be called the fanny and all that but this track is is big heavy. I mean it's the faith it's safe and that's why they made it so deep but you've gotta get through it and you gotTa. That'd be fit well. Let's get set to look at the weekend and before we talk about Saturday any any day maker ideas for today well. You know it's yeah I mean I I did do a couple of San Anita and I can give the a little bit of an insight today's tough but I like the Philly name swirling in the fourth race she's not the favorite averaged five to two zero six two five in there she's a late running turf sprinter that that I that likes attending through force and they're starting to run five and a half now in the first we've got a couple now they extended the shootout there so she'd found five furlongs on this course a little stripe and she was hitting the boy and running well but just running out of room now she goes five and a half and I noticed in the few couple of five and a half long since we've had so far that the closers have a better chance and she's she's good enough to win. and I think that extra half for a long we'll give her the edge that she needs so I'm looking at number two swirling in the fourth race to kind of heightened me over for that's my play play today. It's an okay car not a great guard but I think we can we can get some value there because she's not going to be the favorite it's excellent all right swirling today and Let's let's go to the weekend and obviously the steak the steak side of things Let's talk about talk about the city of hope I because it it it really is intriguing and I brought up with Jay earlier. Jeff the mixing and matching of older horses. I mean really veteran in six seven eight year olds like synchrony and Ohio and Bolo and catapult facing off against some horses that may be emerging What's your angle in the studio? It's really hard. I handicap this this race and I came up with about four or five that on their best day could win. synchrony is intriguing to me I think he's intrinsically the best of the group but he doesn't have a lot of tactical speed and going a mile on this course even though he's running the tool aww theoretically he could maybe draft into the mid part of the mid packing and save the nangle out and get through he tends to give himself a lot to do and I remember when he came out here for the CBS del Mar last November. The same thing happened. Do that was sixteen. He fell back. He he had some traffic trouble he got. That's where we finished. Fuller Ronnie finished thirty one but but he didn't get there so I I like him at five to one at synchrony shipper I I hope he gets the trip. If he doesn't then you can make a case for a number of these. I mean looking for fifteen to one shot number four on your program. Aziz restrained vengeance. He's GonNa get loose in the lead and if he does that he can be dangerous. TAT upholds training really well but he's form doesn't look all that well you gotta go back to the Kilroy Mile Back in March the finding good but at least it was over this turf fourth and he could pop up Sadler. He's five to one the raises a bunch of the race basically is is a bunch. That's a five to one shots hoping for good luck but I think maybe if he gets through synchrony can win I wanted to I wanted to like River Boyne off the lay off and then John White made him four to one and that that cooled my ardor well you know I looked at him him and he was a very good three year old and he hasn't won at four and haven't made a lot of progress at least according to his numbers and he goes from practice and I'm looking elsewhere. Let's put it that way you know a to go back to an angle from last week as that in fact Jay also came up with and Dash the other filled D'Amato player and here's able to do who the things that just seem to be running for Jeff at at least from what we saw last week while they they ran for a golden gate when he was leading rider up there and I talked to them for a number of years actually we had horses up there and he he wrote for us always felt that he was good enough but he was kingpin up there era and then he decided to make the leap and I thought it might be tough for them but it really hasn't he's really falling favor with the with the horsemen down here and he's a strong writer but he's a good rider as far as and dishes concern. He's coming off a nice win. Del Mar.. He's obviously never beaten this this group although he did run second Mendelssohn and his racing debut of that matters which it doesn't that was way back in two thousand seventeen at the Curragh but but he's he's he's developing. He's he's coming around and the way the model is going. I mean I wouldn't put anything past him and especially in a race like this in which really there is no standout and anything can happen so hey why not wanting to watch a couple of other thoughts. what do you make of this chance Salat Omaha beach matchup the very very different set of three year olds against elders in the in the sprint championship wells twelve sheds lots four to five in the morning line because he's not only the fastest horse in the race in terms of numbers but he's also look controlling speed and he doesn't even have to go that fast my my concern was and it's kind of happened in the Jerkins a little bit then I know that the inside part of the wasn't particularly hit that day but they kinda slowdown down twenty three flat forty five and and he's fast horse and I think you gotta use his weapon and I think going three quarters. They don't have to worry too much about you. Know saving reading anything so I I would suspect he'll bust out there and go. He had a nice breeze over the track. I think Navarro did the right thing by bringing them out early and breezy had a half and forty. He's seven and one third fastest at sixty five last week and he lied did it. The right way looked like he was relaxed like he got over the track very very well so he's going to be it really hard for Omaha Beach the rundown although I my theory about Omaha beach is that he's always wanted to be a sprinter and because he was so good and all the money's going long long that Richard Mandella kept running them wrong and why wouldn't he won the rebel in the Arkansas Derby any may have even able to win the Kentucky Derby had come down with the trap Levada brought his only sprint race of his career only race of seven that he actually sprinted

"Churchill getting started would bind with they're the first really too big weekends they also course got the international later in the meet later in the fall and and that brings in some international shippers this woodbine mile just the mile either northern dancer the more you look at it. I thought was was was intriguing and there's plenty of other a lot of stars on the card including Holy Khaleda and pink Loyd. WHO's I I for a horse? That's one like twenty seven in a row. Nobody seems the talk about him or pay much attention to him. Bob Tillers streaking sprinter and here's a streaking sprinter victim Rio depends on where the sprint destination is. I think might Tapei at times but shop racing form a yes to the windows. Definitely Pink Floyd is is really sort of a marvel in terms of how he's performed well routinely I of course needed him to at least be third in this race last year in the contest and finished fifth so the pink floyd stop it will be nowhere near Wreck Stale Ontario and so his chances tomorrow we'll probably increase exponentially. He's in the early. They put the bold venture early on the card actually in fact when I went to the stakes together and put them up Derby Trail Oh. I didn't even look that that early on the card so I didn't even have to go back in fact I don't know if I did go back and put it up but there are a couple couple of very nice horses here including Carlin's honor the Jack Oxley Breezy York good old Yordan approaching half a million dollars for a chiefs would and Stewart Simon you know a lot of your a lot of your local players in the sprint scene but pink Cloyd is now twenty one twenty six and it really was late last year September October that he started to show some some frings signs of tiring and Kinda sputtered out at the end of the year could. Could he be beaten in here. I don't think so no it looks like he's he's back where he needs to be and I don't really know I guess other than Caroline's honor who's supposed to be particularly big threat to him in the spot so he he should get the job done. I mean it's always nice to see good. Horses do Well York than obviously was in much better form coming into this last year having run a good second pink Floyd Royd individual and and that was also during a period of time where pink floyd was having a really hard time getting out of the gate so he's a little ornery for a seven year old gelding and he had a little bit gate trouble really about four or five races in a row going into last year's bold venture he he's not he still not they really particularly the obedient or when it comes to getting out of the gate or being trained for it but he's definitely a little bit better spot with that right now so I think given that he's he's inform and should be sitting right off of the of the pace. If you worked in may be line to the front end. I think he should be okay before we talk about the Canadian the end the grade to which does start the cross country and will incorporate the pebbles and the nightcap at Belmont Nixon thoughts about last week at Belmont. We talked about this Jockey Club Derby and oaks and the Grand Prix. I talked to Andy on Tuesday. The Grand Prix was oddly contest than I thought but some some quick hits on opening the opening salvos at Belmont. I guess guess I'll try and keep it as charitable as possible. Given I took my shots at it last week but I think they played out largely. How we expected decide thought was a pretty impressive winner of the Jockey Club oaks overcoming? I think by all counsel was a pretty negative pace setup and winning is much the best running down Wonderman who I thought probably got a little bit more the run of the race and the American contingent as we expected in that race as well as the Jockey Club Derby were pretty much no shows and it could also be that the American continuing is pretty thin out by now. We'll talk about the pebbles and a little bit but the pebbles is going to be the ninth race for one hundred thousand dollars or more for three year olds fillies on turf going back to June sixth six and that's insane so the ranks of American horses that are ready to go a mile and three eighths early in September. We're really not very not very robust and and that proved out on the lady side and I thought Spanish mission I I actually thought he was totally out of position and thought that he was about to have a Jamie Spencer Special before he was able to overcome it and get the job done so a little bit. I know that the horse was capable of overcoming his writer. I I would imagine he he should be one of the better distant sources that we could potentially see over here next year given that he's going to be off now until the spring and there's just obviously connections that have problems shipping over the Grand Prix North American Jockey Club invitational brought to you by whatever most pretentious name of all time that was one of the most oddly run races I've ever seen first of all. I don't know how the hell everybody knew. Marconi was winning that race for fun and then to watch the riders of both realm and roaming union gather a hold of their horses so strongly almost as if they were waiting for Marconi to catch up and take the lead after he blew the break so that he could go one sixteen flat it was basically sort of the epitome of what we complain about left and right about American American dirt racing right now and you know in this day and age of sort of turf occasion of American racing where everybody points to turf races races are run like turf races. It's almost as if one horse makes the lead all the other guys say okay well. They're the pacesetter we're just GONNA go ahead and sit back and wait for them to come back to us and the majority of the time on the dirt that just doesn't happen even so shockingly Marconi was able to set a pedestrian pace and and went on with it and I I obviously would not have been a big fan of his at the price he went off often. We talked about how it looked like a bit more competitive race on paper the other todd pletcher trainee your to blame. I thought ran pretty well. He was able to stop the pace on the inside but you know I don't y horse like roaming union was in there if he wasn't GonNa GonNa contest the pace especially given that he's from connections like Michelle Navin who generally have a pretty decent idea how to win dirt racist so that was is a little bit of a head scratcher. you know look my personal opinion is that if there's any thought given to this turf triple. I really hope that same amount of money is committed to a dirt program and trying trying to incentivize horsemen to get there and run on dirt more frequently really try and build up the claiming ranks again because it's kind of embarrassing through the first three days of racing. I'm I'm sorry through the first three days of Racing Belmont there were seventy eight horses total entered to run on dirt and there are over seventy eight horses enter to run dirt in the first day at Churchill so I if the same number number of races and and that's that's not good. That's a big big problem that creates a big problem in the winter so that's my hope for it as it is. I guess we'll see probably a little bit better from Spanish mission in the Diese Lisa next year well we turn to Belmont today and into the weekend a couple of very good maiden races actually as part of that card and maybe we'll touch on them but let's let's look at the cross country pick five and it is comprised of of the three three of the stakes would bind the Canadian the mile and the northern dancer that you know you the top of your head. You wouldn't have thought it the three of them were as complex as actually I think they are and then the pebbles and the turf sprint claiming nightcap the eleventh at Belmont so let's start with the Canadian you know this is an interesting field the and really they'll competition. Idea should probably go off a pretty solid favorite. I don't really see how tactically you could make a real stand with her and she's a horseshoe. Obviously needs to lay back and make one run and you know those types generally at the mercy of the pace and this race does not look like it's going to have really any pace speak of so so she's going to have to overcome that now. I will say that you'll Rosario getting back on board to me feels like a very good thing. It does seem like she's just a little bit better horse when he's John Her but now the flip side of that is that we know Joel style. He's GonNa take her back and let her make one run so I mean they're they're going to. There's going to have to be some pace in here that you can't really foresee and I guess the hope is that Dixie moon and or starship do believe maybe show a little bit more speed than they have before. That's if you're back competition of ideas with any great fervor because obviously what this is shaping up as a situation where Holy Helena has a big tactical advantage on the other favorite and and she's been effective at Woodbine in the past. You look good winning the dance smartly last time Jimmy was giving a little bit of time since and I think she's a horse that that will really get the run of the race and and that's GonNa make her toffee. This could be a situation where on your your pick five. You're really leaning on those two pretty heavily and maybe you could give a little bit of a nod holy Helena on one one more additional ticket. I did want to try and make a case for to Riga and my hope is the Tyler Galileo. Maybe a little bit more aggressive with her than Johnny. Velazquez was was last time he finished just length and a half behind the competition of ideas did get into a little bit of trouble amazingly. She got into trouble in the three-horse rates which it happens of course and with a little bit cleaner run maybe second off the off the layoff off the ship in we can see some improvement grim oceans been a little the little laid back with her she she ran on July twentieth didn't work until August thirty first but might be one of those horses that can stay fit without doing that. I I'm always very very in tune and was looking at his horses in these kind of scenarios as they they generally overperform relative to their odds so I'm GonNa go ahead and include Theresa's well the and will include could starship jubilee more than likely those two has backups because I think they each offers some appeal at what should be better prices than the two chalks should note that ah Jimmy Jerkins after sending Holy Elena opt for the dance smartly basically is as left her there and oh my Gosh the stronach trainer but my Woodbine what is yes thank you Mike Doyle. Mike Doyle has been handling and Jimmy is on TV with seth deny after after precision is one and he told the story about Jimmy said he got the notification is it is stable mail all that Holy Helena had worked Labor Day weekend and so gets the notice he opens it up and Airy Jerry Sees Holy Elena six longs one eleven and three Jimmy said got on the phone to this is Mike what's going on up there and he said I really don't worry though or she did it easy. Did it easy the track was the polly was slick. It was cold or whatever yeah what eleven at three and you know what I did. I brought up with Jimmy that great story that is his father told about Bo purple and going out to Hawthorn for the Hawthorne Gold Cup on Tuesday the race as was Saturday and on Tuesday he gets a call from a Chicago sportswriter and said Jerkins. I wanted to ask you for comment about outvote purples work and said what about it. He says well he he he went a mile in one thirty. Two and three Korea broke the track record or mile. I think he went to violent at eight and broke the track record. What what forty seven forty six shades or something and and and Jerkin said you know? I'm sure he'll be fine and sure enough. He went out and won the Gold Cup but that was funny. One one eleven and three
