We are loving the responses we've gotten, the emails, the correspondence, the questions, continue sending them, you can send them to video if you'd like, ten to 15 second video, ask a question, name city town, get out. We'll try and drop those in going forward on the show on the YouTube channel. Continue to send us stuff. We love hearing from you. And thank you as always for subscribing. So surprise surprise Providence is alone atop the biggie standings, despite returning zero starters from last season's team fries with 13 and three, throwing an 8 game winning streak 5 and O in the big east strong jaw. Is it too early to get excited or are you a believer in what it coolly is doing once again? Yeah, I'm not sure if you know this or not GP, but I actually studied advanced sciences in college and one thing that I found pretty interesting doing some research here. Did you know you actually can not spell at Cooley without the word cool? You know, I never thought about it, but that seems obvious to me, sure. Coincidence, or is it? I feel like we should have seen this coming. I mean, Providence is atop the biggie standings. Ed Cooley, doing his thing. Once again, we completely underrated him. Last season, they were kind of the sleeper of the biggies last year this year that looks like they are again a contender despite losing a lot of really, really important pieces just to mania Al Durham. It Watson, I'm not surprised, but the way in which they have got to the top of the big east, I think, is most surprising. The crews passed to Paul on the road. On January 1st, they won by double digits over Yukon three days later. So it's really impressive. I think that Cooley, I think, continues to be vastly underrated the way he's pieced together this roster. I mean, deserves a ton of credit, pick Bryce Hopkins off from Kentucky after averaging two points and playing 6 and a half minutes per game and one season with the wildcats. And now he's leading Providence this season, 16.4 points per game, 9.2 rebounds per game, just a total revelation with the friars and I'm sure infuriating for Kentucky fans. Devin Carter, another SEC transfer, this one from South Carolina second leading scorer on the team. Third and steals among all biggie's players. So this team is legit. I don't think it's a fluke. Maybe we should have seen this coming, but Providence, rocking and rolling right now. They look like one of the best in the big east. Yeah, like I said, they lose all 5 starters from last season's team. And they were picked 5th. I think reasonably picked 5th in the big east behind crate and Xavier Villanova, Yukon. And like I wrote in the lead of the top 25 and one on Thursday morning, like they might finish 5th. You know, there's a long way to go and there's obviously really good teams in the big east. A good team and in civil eternity team is gonna finish 5th in the big east, probably. So, you know, that prediction might look right, you know, in a month, or maybe in two weeks. But it's hard not to take note of what Ed has been able to do with this team. So far, this season, most recently, of course, beating Yukon and extending the huskies losing streak to two games. And the star of it being Bryce Hopkins is just like, if you're a Kentucky fan, it must, I don't know if it makes you sick, but it's another thing where if you're now actively looking for things to be frustrated with about John calipari, well then there's another one right there. Like, hold up. This guy, you had him in your program last season. And he played 6.4 minutes per game. 6.4 minutes per game. And now he goes to Providence, in part because he only played 6.4 minutes per game, and he's averaged in 16.4 points, 9.2 rebounds in 33.1 minutes per game. Like, what did it coolly see in Bryce Hopkins to unleash this? That John calipari did not. I don't know the answer to that question. I ask it from an honest place. And obviously a Kentucky year in and year out, you're going to have a lot of really talented guys. But Bryce Hopkins is like a legitimate candidate for biggie's player of the year right now. And in theory, there's a scenario where he could be on Kentucky's team and would probably be Kentucky's second best player. But Kentucky didn't value him. The way that he needed to be valued to be convinced to stay there. And so now he's starring at Providence and I'm sure Providence fans are thrilled and Kentucky fans are a little scratching their heads a little bit wondering what could have been. A lot like Johnny juzang, leaves Kentucky goes to UCLA all American, Kyle Wiltshire. These Kentucky goes to Gonzaga, all American, the latest example that appears to be Bryce Hopkins. And oh, by the way, keon Brooks transfer. From Kentucky, he's with Washington this season, averaging 16.2 points per game that's by far a career high 5th best among PAC 12 players. Having a career year could be potentially, I mean, I don't think he's the FrontRunner, but I think he's certainly a contender for PAC 12 player of the year. So there's two Kentucky transfers who could go on to either contend or actually win player of the year honors in their respective new conferences. Got a stinker if you're a Kentucky fan. All right. Before we get to the final four on one, we'll do some predictions here. Based on the conversation we're having. And we'll see how they look in two months. The biggie's champion will be. It's going to be Yukon. I think that would still be my pick as well. But I'm not going to get caught doubting at Cooley again. And Xavier, I mean, right

"He has not been a top two or three player on this roster who Devin Carter, South Carolina tramp has been very good. And then Bryce Hopkins has been a top ten player among all business programs to this point. And the fact that Kentucky is a little bit lost right now. I'm not saying of Hopkins was still on the roster, we'd be talking about a Kentucky team with one loss or anything like that. Not necessarily saying that, but he was not utilized a ton last season could barely get on the floor. He transfers, this could very well be like, I know for Kentucky fans that couldn't help but notice what he did in this game and really carrying Providence to win. I get all that. There's no telling that if he was still there that he wouldn't still be in something of a bit of a role player. Like this might be a case where a guy really did need a change of scenery, a different scheme, a different coach, and there's just something about the alchemy with how he's made as a player and how Ed Cooley runs a program and how he runs their stuff that it's all working. And right now it is absolutely working for Hopkins and for Providence. He's at what like 17, who's had almost 18 points more than 9 boards of game almost three at the cis game. He's been he's been one of the surprise transfers in the entire country and that's a big one for Providence to get to ten and three and increase their chances. I don't know if they're going to be a tournament team or not, but that's the kind of one where you almost need it when you're looking back if you're going to wind up being a bubble team. Good on Ed coulis fryers. Bryce Hopkins scored 29 last night against a ranked team. And Kentucky scored 53 the other day. Against a ranked team. And so if you're a Kentucky fan, that I don't want to pretend to know exactly how I can talk you think I feel about anything. But I would assume you'd look at that and go, oh man, really. Because there is a history of this type of thing happening. The latest version is Bryce Hopkins, but before that, it was Johnny juzang. And before that, it was Kyle Wiltshire. Like guys who can't get on the court at Kentucky for whatever reason and then they go to these other places and they're amazing. And it certainly seems to be the case with Bryce Hopkins right now. There was a funny moment. I don't know if you saw it at the end of toward the end of market Providence. It was on CBS Sports Network. Tom McCarthy and Steve lapis were on the car. I just worked with them on Saturday at Villanova, saint Joe's. And at the buzzer of the first OT, Devin Carter, like really blue will lay up. I mean, it was, I mean, it was like if you take a, I'm not trying to be goofy, but it was like, you ever take a 12 year old basketball player who's right handed and say, all right, now go make a left handed lay up and they just throw it off the back plate it's just all awkward and weird. That's what it looked like. He just threw it off the backboard and it went in. And so he missed it. It's like, well, headed to double overtime. And then, of course, like we always do, you go back and show the slow motion replay. And it sort of emphasizes exactly how badly he missed it. I could just hear, you got to know lap to truly enjoy this moment, but you could just hear it in his laps voice, how disgusting he was with that? He was like, he had a layup. And then, and then they show it again and Tom McCarthy's like, and Devin Carter could not find the nylon. And the nylon and we're going to break. They're like seconds away from break and lamb's like de nylon. Couldn't find the rim. He couldn't find anything. And I was like, poor guy. I don't really have any hope, but you don't want to, you don't want to blow a layup like that and then your team lose. So fortunately for Devin Carter, fortunately, for Providence, they did pull away a little bit in overtime and when that thing one O three, 98. So I did drop marquette out of the top 25 and one. I moved Maryland back in and I hate moving Maryland back in on a three game losing streak after losing by 27 because somebody's going to see that and go, do you know they just lost, of course I know they just lost. But like I've explained many times, I keep a running list of teams. And Marilyn's like 27. The entire resume, if you can not focus too much on the last three, games, but like focus on the entire resume, like forget when the games were played, just like, let's look at this body of work. Maryland still is a very reasonably ranked and I moved the terabits back into the top 25 and one to replace the marquette team that I had to get out of there. And we are, yeah, we're really hitting a slow stretch here. We'll preview the night games in just a minute here, but a few a few good games this week before we get into, you know, some downtime over the over the Christmas break for stuff picks up again. Again, next week. Yeah, we'll look ahead to what's interesting on Wednesday night and Thursday night in a second. But next, norlander had a nice piece on UMass coach Frank Martin that posted earlier today. We're going to spend some time on that next. First though, a word from a partners. So norlander had a nice piece on UMass coach Frank Martin this morning about life as a coach, about a lot of things, but among those things, life as a coach with a family changing jobs and the complexities of that. It's your story. I'll let you take it from there. Okay, well, thanks, DP. We should spend a couple minutes on this because I think, frankly, Frank and his wife, Anya, would want us to even more. So story behind the story is this. I saw Frank at a recruiting event in Connecticut here in Connecticut over the summer, and you know, he's a few months into the job. And it was just talking to him how we doing, how his life has the family. And you know this, Frank Martin is a different kind of coach. He just, he, if he's got something on his mind, he'll tell it to you. And I so appreciate him for that. And so when we were talking, that's when he indicated to me is like, he's like, Matt, it's not as easy as everyone thinks it is. And you know, he's a few months into a career reboot and I thought, well, that's interesting. So he shared a few things. And in that moment, we were more kind of speaking informally and casually, but he shared a few anecdotes that didn't even wind up making the story that just kind of stuck out to me. So then I saw him again on the trail in July and then we linked up and I was like, can I come up and see the team and check it out? And then, you know, I went up there with the intention of probably writing about a new start. Nothing like too crazy too big, but I did ask I was like, listen, I actually called him first. I remember being at my younger sons, he was getting nice getting lessons. Or he called me or something like that. And so he had mentioned this again, just kind of the stuff. It's not so easy going through these kind of changes. And I was like, Frank, you know, you've brought this up a couple of times. Would you be interested in talking on the record about it so I can write a story about it. But if you're not like, it's completely fine, because as you well know parish, back before I continue, I'll just toss this back to you. There are just occasionally there are there have been moments, right? Over the years where you'll talk to a coach, maybe it is in July, right after they get a job, or you talk to them in the middle of a season, and it won't be for the matter of the record, but they might just be like, and I've had this happen, just they'll be like, man, you know, I'm having issues at home or just like, yeah, wife's fed up with me. Like, the point of the story is the life of a coach and particularly after you change jobs, just because you get paid a ton of money doesn't mean that you don't encounter some really significant challenges. And in many ways, stress is that everyday people don't encounter. I assume you've heard anecdotes like this. My main thought from the story was that this is Frank's

"Com slash rich eisen show for everything that you've missed, but our terrestrial radio audience is about to rejoin us. And that's what we're going to bring in in just three seconds time. Our next guest, he is back here on the rich eisen show with you, but back here on the program, love this man, love everything about him. He's one of the all time greats in playing basketball, collegiately. He's on the NBA 75th all time 75th anniversary all time team, and he's part of Westwood once coverage of the national championship game tonight. He is the great Bill Walton. How are you Bill? Championship day. Yeah. This is what we live for. The moment of truth, but right now we're the moment before the moment of truth. New Orleans Louisiana. Yeah, wow. History, the past, the present, the future, the war of 1812, the synergies, UNC, North Carolina, Kansas, teen Smith, Larry Brown, Roy Williams, Danny Manning, the 57 undefeated championship team from North Carolina that beat Kansas by one in that game that was wilt. Oh my gosh, UNC that year in 57, I was four. The that team was the second of 7 undefeated teams in the history of college basketball, coached by Frank McGuire. They beat dick Hart that day. Kansas ten championship games in their illustrious history, North Carolina 12 UCLA still has the record here, but wow, what a weekend here in New Orleans starting off Friday night with the Hall of Fame dinner in the French Quarter all the new people going in headlined by Manu yet, the guy that could catch a bat. Standing still. And Stanford and UConn women what a game Yukon was just brilliant Stanford could not break free offensively in Yukon one convincingly before getting just trounced as everybody did this year by South Carolina. Congratulations once again to Don staley. And then Saturday, oh my gosh, the game of forever. They didn't even go to bed. We got up Sunday and went to the Naismith awards over the World War II museum just a few blocks from where we are at our wonderful hotel, walker Kessler. He wins the defensive player of the year Ed Cooley Providence coach of the year and a remarkable speech, Beth bass was honored for women's basketball contributions. Oscar she waits, he was a player of the year. It was absolutely fantastic. John calipari always there for his players just a spectacular human being getting it done. But the show was just overrun by Jim Nance and his speech. Please Google that speech YouTube that speak gymnast speech at the Naismith awards Sunday morning. I study speakers. I study greatness. This was one of the greatest moments of my life. And then we had the Westwood one dinner last night in the French Quarter. That was only the top. And then today I'm on the rich eisen show. I'm having lunch with bob Pettit. And then the game tonight. One moment of sadness, though, before we get going here. Sure. Is that one of my coaches, Jean shoe? He passed away today at 93. Oh, I didn't know that. Say a prayer lie to candle and live your life and our lives in tribute and honor to the great gene shoe. But wow, more to give on Saturday night. It sure was Bill. I mean, that was truly unbelievable. It's so rare that a game that still looked forward to and so hyped lives up to it and surpasses it. What do you think was the difference in that game on Saturday night? What do you think? Games are won and lost when your best players outplayed their best players. And the game that Caleb love had, the same game that he had against UCLA. Caleb love is one of those really special dudes and I love jamba juice and my favorite jamba juice is chocolate peanut butter love. So every time I see Caleb love, I just think of how happy chocolate peanut butter love makes me. And his ability to score. I mean, ultimately, offense wins and the greatest offensive players. The guys who can just score when the defense is set and dug in, that's Kareem. And that's LeBron. That's what Michael Jordan. That's Larry Bird. And that's the guys who have written the history of this game. And so now you've got this guy Caleb loved. And I love underdogs. This game, this was a movie, this whole scene. And the Villanova in Kansas game. I mean, it really never became a game. Kansas just played perfect. They've been playing perfect ever since the halftime of the Miami game in the regional finals. And they will be a huge force to be reckoned with tonight. But let's talk about Saturday night, man. That game. The fans, I was sitting right in the corner of the court, just down the way from where our Westwood one broadcast position is. And I'm the prop. I'm the studio guy. And everything. And so I got this fantastic seat. And then the game is right there. And then just at 1 o'clock for me, is that North Carolina band? At two 30 is the North Carolina student section. And then directly behind me at 6 on the clock is the North Carolina fan section with the alumni and the sponsors and the boosters and all the parents and everything. And it was just incredible. And there's so much animosity. There's so much tension and tenacity and all the different things that go into great athletic competition. And that's just between the fans and so all the whole script of how this movie was going to be written up into the sunset on this big white horse Mexican lido and the trap and the incredible storylines of them coming and then losing and him saying to some acceptable we're not done yet and they're coming back and they're playing great and they got all the best players and then leaky black. Chocolate pizza butter love. The Brady man is I mean radioactive they're gonna name a band after in the same way that Pearl Jam named themselves Mookie blaylock. But then Armando Bangkok. Such a wonderful player..

"Total on this game, one 41 and a half. Obviously head coaching at major disparity as far as experience is concerned, Bill self been here and done that. Ed Cooley takes Providence to their first sweet 16 since 1997 to the friar's credit. It was their largest win in fewest points allowed as far as a tournament game was concerned over Richmond, Finnish plus 36 from beyond the ark, holding the spiders to just one of 22 from deep. Meanwhile, Kansas, they're into the sweet 16 for the first time since 2018. They did finish with a major edge in paint points and rebounding advantage in slipping by a pesky crate and team. Pain, everybody and their brother wanted to talk about how lucky Providence was coming into the dance. Suddenly the friars win two games against Richmond and South Dakota state and the public can't get themselves enough of the regular season biggie's champion. Really interesting dynamic. We both liked Providence in the opening round. We wanted to fade some of that luck narrative. The line felt like it was a little short and there was a group that agreed and laid Providence Thursday morning. But I don't think Providence win against Richmond is as impressive as it looks on paper winning by 28. You look at Richmond playing at 6th game in 9 days. The last thing you want to do is play this physical bully in Providence, which they are. They play that role very well. And then again, the anomaly shooting performance. There's, again, just so much variance in these games. But if you look based on shot quality, Providence lost that game against Richmond. Now I don't believe that was actually the case. But Richmond's won for 22 from three, they shot 38% from the free throw line in 21 attempts. If that doesn't yell tired legs, 6 games in 9 days, I don't know what does. On the flip side, Kansas took monster money against creighton from the biggest better. And other betters, and that game got sent from Kansas, 9 and a half out to 13. Back to variants though, right? Crayton hits 12 threes, creighton has four more three point plays in the game. 16 threes altogether in Kansas still wins by 7. What I have seen and heard on this game to this point is most people I respect don't think Kansas is good. And they're probably not playing to a normal one seed level. That even with Providence in all their luck, they felt 8 and a half was too high. Respected money took Providence plus 8 and a half. Now, any time this has gotten to 7, which is a relevant number, we see it back to 7 and a half pretty quickly. There are a few things that stand out here. Kansas offensively trending better down the stretch with Remy Martin in the mix. Providence allows you to get inside. And while they do a good job defending once you get inside, Kansas is a different animal. They're athletic. They're talented. More than what Providence typically cease. And so their 14th and near proximity efficiency. So if you're allowing Kansas to get there, I think they're good enough, they're skilled enough. They're talented enough to actually make you pay a little bit more than what teams have typically made Providence pay once you let them inside. If you're letting Kansas get inside, I think they can do some damage there. We saw Richmond actually score pretty much at will inside against Providence. The other thing we have to be aware of in this matchup is Providence is horrific getting back on defense. And it feels like this is an Ed cooly thing at this point back to back seasons. Providence is allowed its opponents to attempt more than 30% of shots in transition. We know Kansas wants to get an out and run. And they want to run off rebounds. They want to run off your makes. That's where Kansas is at its best. So for me, the entire key to this game is two things. And they correlate, can Providence continue hitting threes, they take a bunch of them, in terms of shot distance, Providence is a 195 in the country and proximity. So lots of shots away from the basket. If those shots are falling, great. But if they're not in Kansas can rebound the long miss and get out and transition, not good for Providence. It's really hard to envision Ed Cooley watching Kansas film. And that is not the point of emphasis all week. I'm getting back on defense. But at the end of the day, the number matters into this point, the betters that matter took 8 and a half on Providence, let's see if that changes. Let's see if there's a different sentiment as it gets back potentially to 7 as limits rise a little bit more. That'll be pretty telling. But again, it just comes down and we say this a lot of time. There's a lot of variants in this game. Providence hitting their threes. If they're not, then we're going to get some run outs from Kansas and this could snowball a little bit more than potentially what the numbers would indicate. Hey, to Providence his credit. This is a team that is shown veteran leadership and being able to take advantage of close games making all the shots when they matter most. We've seen them at their best or maybe not quite in back to back wins so far in this tournament, but was only three games ago where they were absolutely embarrassed by the creighton Blue Jays being outscored 30 to two over an extended stretch in the biggies tournament. So we know Providence, a wide margin of results, we'll see if the jayhawks are able to attack them inside creating opportunities on the perimeter for Kansas to knock down some big jumpers. The final game pain that we have to break down, of course, also taking place in Chicago, on Friday evening, showcases a pair of Cinderella's hailing from power conferences. It's Iowa state as an 11 seat taking on Miami as a ten seed. It's the Miami hurricanes, a two and a half point favorite at FanDuel sports book total on the game sits at one 33..

So dead leg, you enjoy the rest of your Monday. I'm going to do a radio show. And go to the airport. Then fly home. I was going to give you good news here before we wrap. You got some good news? You got my glasses? I will say this. I purchased a pair of AirPods. Either you were not as a send me that link for that case. I feel you. That little that little container? No, you're easily lose. He's looking for it now. Let me show you what I got. I lost him. If you're gonna love this. This thing that the thing that the AirPods come with though, you can lose them really easy. Very slippery. So that's not what I was saying. Okay, look at that. Can you see this? Look at that. Yeah, there it is. That is a life-changing $7 purchase. Some of the link. That's not what I was going to bring up though. You, my friend, have the best ATS record of any of the 6 of us at CBS sports dot com through this part of the tournament. So right now, maybe I am the king of the final form one. Well, you are, you are two games ahead of me. So you're still behind me overall, not as got a tally this with the other record and when he can update it when you guys pick the sweet 16 games. And then everyone has to pick the games for the site, so my pixel count even though you won't hear them on this podcast. You are 26 and 26. Even Stephen, how about that? I'm 24 and 28. Patterson, chip, 24 and 28. David Cobb is 21 and 31. What? 21 and 31 for Cobb. Oh, somebody fell to turn table? Somebody fell off. Jerry Palmer was 22 and 30 and Kyle Boone. It's 18 and 34 right now. You're 26 and 26, you're even Steven, my man. Congrats. We'll see if you can maintain it though. That's good stuff. That's good stuff. Oh, real quick before we get out of here since I'm not doing the sweet 16 previews, GP just ran down the entire schedule for you. Thursday should be incredible. I do think that duke Texas tech is going to be just a grinder of a game and I want to see how duke responds off of the way that it played against Michigan state playing a completely different kind of team and if it can handle the physicality of Texas tech. Texas tech can't really score with duke, but tech will bring that game into the style and paste it. I think it wants to. So that's going to be super, super interesting with all that. Also, by the way, I think both because duke is a national program and because Texas tech fans actually travel extremely well for the men's basketball. I think there's a chance that that building is going to be a really good split because you'll also have Gonzaga fans who will absolutely be there because Gonzaga Arkansas the late game and then Arkansas fans don't I think that I think the chase I've never been to San Francisco. I can't wait to get to the city. I'm very excited about it and I think that the fan base is traveling there are going to be awesome. I think that the west in particular because it's the only one that's chalk. One, two, three, four. Put your bracket on the floor. I think it can be the best region overall because the best teams are still there. It doesn't mean we'll absolutely get the best games are the best results are best outcomes there. But I'm looking forward to that. And the Thursday nights is just a huge night over. I mean, you've got Michigan Villanova, Michigan is a huge brand Villanova. We'll be favored in that game is favored in that game. And Michigan has certainly had this interesting of a past three weeks as almost any program in America. Maybe other than Saint Peter's, frankly, at this point there. So that's intriguing, and then Houston, Arizona, is kind of similar to Texas tech duke, just in terms of what Arizona can do. It's ceiling like duke and Arizona feel like and Gonzaga's there as well. Like when they're at their absolute best, it's like they feel a tier above everyone else, but Houston and Texas tech have a way that they can they can certainly alter what those teams want to do. And the fact we get Carolina UCLA, GPU were rolling down a whole bunch of stuff. So I don't know if you said this or if you've seen it, I was checking on other stuff. I feel like these teams don't have an extensive history. Is this the second time they've met in the tournament the first time they met in the tournament? I thought I heard something about that. Where those two particular blue Bloods, maybe they've never met in the tournament? I could be lying about that. But I love the fact that it's that in a regional semifinal in an unexpected way and you'll get we're guaranteed to have either heels or bruins in the elite 8 and that'll mean either Macron is making back to back elite 8 runs or Hubert Davidson's first year taking UNC to the elite 8. I think that's pretty pretty cool and then Providence for Ed Cooley to get them to play Kansas and the sweet 16 and what he's done there. A humongous race is coming at cool this way. He is going to get paid. Paid. That is on its way. And it'll be that game will be going right alongside Saint Peter's versus Purdue. I just hope so you cover dunk city first weekend in 13. I covered him for the sweet 16 when they played Florida. And I mentioned this on the pod with Cobb,.

"Sorry. I don't know. It's the johnnys. It's the giant's only Johnny's big east is not going to have a big thief though. That's not going to happen here. All right, we're going to get out of here on this. Let's pick the title game matchup and turning win or not. If you could be so kind, if it's still there, bring that bracket back up. So if people are watching they can see it in real time, pick our title game, match up, and then who's going to win the tourney mop. I will go first because I already got it here. I actually think we're going to get some noise, okay? Talk about a team we haven't mentioned yet. I'm going to put into the title game. Give me shotgun smarts, marquette team. So I'm going to have marquette beaten creighton, a great one against Providence, Providence is going to lose a close game by four points for like the second time all season or whatever and get into the title game. And then, you know what? I'm going against what you mentioned at the top cob. I'm going to have nova and Yukon in the semis. Just a classic Friday night biggie semi. Just a classic. Those fans, oh my gosh, give it to me. And I'll have Yukon winning. I'll have Yukon winning and it's return with fans to the garden long awaited. A well overdue. So I'll have marquette versus Yukon in the big east tournament championship game and then give me Yukon. It's got more talent. It's better defensive team. I think it's a bit more reliable. Market had some really nice moments, but it has been more wobbly as of late. I think Shaka smart is going to do well for himself in this spot overall. I think that is not out of the realm of possibility. Golden eagles are 19 and 11. They've been up down, up, down, up, down in the past two and a half weeks or so they've had a loss in a win, a loss win loss win over the past 6 games. But I'm going to say they're going to get on track. Yukon wins the biggie's tournament, RJ Cole is the most outstanding player. Who do you got cop? Yeah, I'm going nova. This is a team that nationally has been slept on since they lost some of their marquee non conference games early on. So they dropped games against UCLA, Purdue, Baylor. They did beat Tennessee, but it's a team that kind of fell off the national radar in some respects because of the fact that it didn't have a strong showing early in the season. As it was navigating some injury and depth problems, mind you. So a little bit of a deeper team now that at least I think is a better position to soldier the postseason than it was a soldier November. And a team that is coached by Jay Wright, a team that has gone on the road and beaten some good teams in this league. So I will go Villanova to win it all. I'm having a hard time deciding who I really believe is they're going to meet in the title game though. I think at the end of the day, I go Providence because of just a tip of the cap and some respect on that fires team and what Ed Cooley and that squad have accomplished this season. I caught some flack a couple months ago for leaving Al Durham off my midseason top transfers list. In reality, he was just off the list right on the brink and certainly had a case to be in the top 20. He wasn't in the top 20 though because the statistics don't match the reality with Al Durham. And so from a metric standpoint, he embodies Providence. The metrics are not there with Providence, the metrics do not back up Providence being a team that can have a great march. But the metrics don't account for the way that Al Durham seems to always get to the free throw line in the clutch in the clutch moments of big games. And so I think he's a made for March type of player. And I think that's going to prove itself in this tournament. And you look at the fact, if they get past their quarterfinal game, they're going up against potentially a great team that's going to be without Ryan nimh. They're point guard. And I think that makes their path a little bit easier. And it could be marquette, they meet in the semifinals. But ultimately, I think I see Villanova beating Providence in the finals in what would be a phenomenal third game between those two teams. And I assume you go Gillespie, MOP. If that's the case, nova winning, or anyone else on that roster. I think Justin Moore could very easily be the most outstanding player as well. It just depends on who has the hot hand for that team. Shoot, Jermaine Samuels could put together three consecutive double doubles. I mean, they've got three really, really good, veteran players in those three guys who I think will take turns this month being the guy who leads Villanova. Two quick notes on teams that we didn't talk about that are going to play a factor in this. We can talk about much seat and hall 29, Jared roden is a really good player. And this team isn't fully healthy, but it's one 5 in a row heading into the tournament. Seat and hall is the true dark horse in this one. And then we mentioned nem Hart a creighton. Creighton to even be in the tournament. It's going to the entrepreneur. It's safely no matter what happens here. Greg went through and said, a wonderful job. Blue Jays are not high on the metrics, but they're 20 and ten. They've certainly done enough to get in. I don't think you got anything to worry about if you're a crate and fan. And this tournament will have, we'll have some surprises. It normally does, it usually provides that overall, I was there 8 years ago, it must have been 8 years ago when Providence won the tournament at Cooley gets him into the big dance because of it. I'm almost positive Providence with an NIT team before and then they run the table and they win it. And that's one of my favorite biggies tournament memory. So we could have something like that. All I'm asking is I want for the sake of just being there to cover this. Either get me Providence or Yukon, one of those two. I don't need both of them, but one of those two in the title game purely for because again, Noah fans are going to show up in huge force, seton hall, everyone, but I'm telling you, Providence and Yukon will, they will drive up the secondary market of ticket prices, not quite at coach K final game level, but you get what I'm saying there. Being in the region that Yukon is really going to bring this tournament to another level and kind of get everyone even closer together than the biggest tournament had already been in recent years when it had been just fine despite the conference fracturing. Any last thoughts before we get out of here? Yeah, I want to know why you're sleeping on the fryers. What is it about Providence? What have they not shown you over the last two or three months that makes you kind of doubt them? It's not me sleeping at all. I don't think we're going to get a chalky big east. That's purely it. I'm in on Providence. I've had them in my power rankings almost the entire season. I think that Providence is better than its metrics right now. And at Cooley, I would have top three for national coach of the year at this point. It's only lost as neutral to Virginia, got rolled at marquette got steamrolled and then they split they split they got swept in two games against Villanova. That's it, really good team. I think Jared bynum is a top ten to 15 defender in the country, Nate Watson, second team all big east,.

"How about the bruins last night, 7 zippo, Jake dubroski had, hey, not too bad. By the way, we all know that Greg is really going to Indy not because of the combine, but because of Rutgers basketball. And I would also like to add that, yes, I went to the university of Rhode Island. I'm a graduate from URI, but I also grew up watching Providence college. And so I want to give a congratulations to PC and Ed Cooley for what they accomplished over the weekend. I watched that game against creighton. The first time in program history to win the big east regular season championship. I've been watching them since I was like, you know, all of four years old, so congrats to those guys, fantastic to watch. Let's jump back into the football. Mike Reese, I know he just kind of touched on JC Jackson a little bit, but Reese ranked the Patriots odds of tagging Jackson as low. If you were a betting man Greg, where do you think this ends? Do you think Reese is on to something and you find it somewhat hard to believe that the tag is what they do? It's choke you up. Jeez. Yeah. So yeah, I mean, look, everybody who reads BSA and listens to this podcast knows I've kind of, you know, I've been breaking this down and I've been tagging trade for a long while. I do, as of this moment, before the scouting combine, I came down to after I talked to, you know, an NFL personnel executive, a couple of them. And sort of talked to them about JC Jackson, what the Patriots might do. And, you know, the consensus that I got from these two guys, and they could be the outliers. They could be, you know, the rest of the league could think JC Jackson is an all pro shutdown guy. I don't know. But these both of these personnel executives told me that they view JC Jackson as a good solid starter, but nothing more. That he's not a top 5 cornerback and they have no interest in paying him there. You know, that being said, he's really the only really good guy available on the free agent market. So that should help him. But I think that I think this is like we said before. I think this is a big week as far as Intel I'll be asking teams and my sources when I finally see them in person because there was no combine last year. So this is sort of getting back to the natural order of things. I'll be able to talk to some people this week and get a better gauge and I'm sure it will start to leak out. I bet we hear something about this team is going to make a run at JC Jackson and things like that. As of right now, I agree with Mike. I think that the Patriots don't tag him.

"Interesting that Houston was it's been a top ten team most of the season and they got completely left out. And I think that was right. You know, Houston, as of yesterday, had zero quadrant one wins. Now they got a quadrant one win on Sunday in a wild finish. But they didn't have one as of Saturday. So I thought that made sense. Anyway, sex too many. I thought they did a top 16 look pretty good than me. I can't disagree. You want to tour around and talk about these results here? Yeah, so just a big bullet point stuff from the weekend auburn is now two and two and it's past four games. After that loss at Florida on Saturday, Kentucky rallied from 13 down to beat Alabama without Tai Dai Washington in savior Wheeler. When they went 13 down, I was like, okay, well, this is what they look like without their starting back court and then they just put on a show the rest of the way. Oscar sheepway was excellent again. Texas tech completed the regular season sleep of Texas. And did you hear it? Somebody tweeted audio. Like iPhone footage from inside the arena. When Chris beard got introduced inside the Irwin center, you could hear it felt like you could hear more booze. Really? Then cheers. Yes. He got booted home by the Texas tech fans that showed up at the Irwin center, so that was something. Like you mentioned province came from 19 down to win at butler, Illinois won at Michigan state. I'll let you take it wherever you want to take it. I will start with those and then we'll tour around elsewhere. Texas tech, how about this? So they get the sweep of Texas, only strengthen their credentials at this point. I was looking after we did this highlight on Saturday. With king dermis, the host of that marathon afternoon, great stuff, working with him. We noticed, here's Texas tech. At home of our so Oklahoma at TCU home versus Kansas state at Oklahoma state. Right now, Texas tech is 21 and 6. Mark Adams has a better start through 27 games than any coach in Texas tech history. He's, you know, crispier did things that had never been done in Texas tech before. Well, now Mark Adams already has done that, right? So it's viable that the red raiders could be 25 and 6 going into the big 12 tournament. If they do that, they'll have four losses in the league, they're probably not catching Kansas, which has two Baylor also has four, but TTU could be a two seed in the big 12 tournament. I actually think it's got an outside shot. Maybe even better than that at being a two seat overall. There's no outright bad loss on the schedule. It just has losses on the road to teams that might not make the tournament. Oklahoma won't spend too much time on the sooners, but Oklahoma's now 14 and 13 and it didn't win on the road. It wasn't even competitive against Iowa state. And then there's a road loss for Texas tech against Kansas state. So those aren't teams that don't seem to be going to sell their tournament but they're still quad one results. There's no bad loss for Texas tech overall and again, you know, we talked about this a couple of weeks ago, but Mark Adams has just done a phenomenal job. So I don't want to harp here. I just would put him. I would go Tommy Lloyd one. Cool he rallying from 19 down to win at butler. He's I guess he's number two in my coach of the year. I really think I might go Adam's three Bruce pearl four, top four coach of your canon, and then Cali parry might be 5 for me. That might be my 5 off the top of my dome coach of the year top 5 list right now. I don't know if you agree disagree with having any other thoughts on that. But good one for the red writers. I'd probably vote Ed Cooley, coach of the year right now. Tommy Lloyd Mark Adams in some order the next two. I mean, what ads doing with this Providence team is incredible. And I know that Tommy and Mark both inherited good situations. But they've made them great. You know, you can't say that you knew Texas tech was going to be this good unless you had Texas tech being this good in a preseason. And you can't say you knew Arizona would be like, you know, a number one seed unless you had them projected that way in the preseason. Just because they inherited my situations, doesn't mean that they haven't done incredible jobs to get those places where they're at right now. And it's wild to look at it'll be the AP poll on Monday. The top 25 and one right now. One Gonzaga, Mark fuze, two Arizona, Tommy Lloyd's wildcats. It's just sort of wild that it's Mark and his longtime assistant at the tip top of the sport right now. Agreed. It's done a great job. Auburn losing 63 62. Lemon booty. What was when they were doing? Oh, hold on. There's a lemon booty situation going all around here because Florida had to gain more well in hand. And then it was just trying to give it away. Just give it away. How about the stat of the weekend? Walker Kessler did not have a block in this game. Stunning. Did not have a block. Colin castleton played damn well. He had 19 points, 8 boards, three blocks themselves, a pair of steels. They needed him to come up big Tyree Applebee scored 26, including a huge three that they wound up needing there. Auburn takes it takes a loss. You heard the stat, right? I also tweeted out, I can't trivia time you here, like the stat with auburn's drought at the Odom, you're aware of it. I trivia time. Okay, ask it. Let's see if I can get this. Get it within two years. It's right if you get it within two years. Last time auburn won at Florida was what year. Last time, auburn went up Florida. Oh, boy, I bet it's been a while. Let me preface by saying I have no idea I didn't hear this. Okay. I'm going to go 2002. 19 96. A man named Daniel werfel was tossing the pigskin for the Gators and the old ball coach. That's how long ago it's been. That's how long it's been since offer one of Florida. Frankly, it's mind boggling and the streak still continues there. Florida and getting the win, resuscitates its NCA tournament case. 17 and ten now, just a mammoth win. Florida's got another good one on a neutral over Ohio State. And then elsewhere, there's just not a lot. So this was significant Gators next have Arkansas on Tuesday night. When that and then we'll start talking Florida fans. But I thought that was pretty, I thought that was pretty significant. Kentucky winning without its starting back court. Well, let's start. Let's sit on auburn for a second, 'cause you got more. Okay. 7 with 91 seconds left and almost gave the game away. Like auburn had the ball, 7 and a half seconds down a point. Yes. The interesting thing about auburn or among the or just a noticeable thing about auburn. Tell me how many other teams you could say this about. Might be done in terms of national title contenders. There are two best players are not end of game players. Like, you can't just throw the ball to either one of them and say,.

"Last night. At Providence. It was phenomenal scene. I mean, it was about 20 to 23° outside about an hour and a half before. Tip, which is when they opened the doors to the general public. I think they let the students in a lot of them before that, but because of where I wound up parking my car and then kind of walking around the Dunkin donut center to get into the media entrance. I walked by what had to be like four or 5 different ways to get into the Dunkin donut center every single entrance had a throng of people outside waiting to get in. Not just all college because plenty. Plenty of moms and dads, uncles and aunts and all those folks into their 40s, 50s and 60s were outside, brave and the cold temps and there was certainly a buzz around downtown province. By the way, got in a little bit of brown bear's basketball practice before it went over to the game. It was good to it was good to see them as well. So kind of made the most of the trip there. And then once we were inside, my God, a building was ready to go. I love those environments. It was ready to go. Game tip did technically what, like 8 O 7 8 O 8. It was at 6 30. Good to go. Let's get on this thing. Everyone wore pink for breast cancer awareness and student section was lively and intoxicated. Shouts to the Providence pep band. I actually had a tweet go up this morning when I opened my Twitter app because the Wi-Fi had the dunk, not the most reliable thing, so it finally sent through a solid 14 hours later. Providence Pepe and the legit good stuff, not the same old tunes. I really appreciated that if there happens to be a member of the said pep and this is podcast. You guys are really, really good and that was really cool. I was sitting right in front of them. And I had actually Dan O'Neill of the athletic was sitting next to me. And at one point during the game, we kind of looked at each other and they absolutely broke the fire code. There's no way there's no way that that building was holding fewer than the recommended amount of people to actually keep it safe and in the event of emergency. But it added to the atmosphere. It was such a tight game the entire way that it just, it made it all the better. I've been to that one in the Texas Gonzaga game have been the two games that I've been to this season that really had that real liveliness to just an incredible atmosphere. I think actually last night might have been a little bit better than Gonzaga, which was very, very, very good. But yeah, wonderfully played game and good on Villanova. I mean, I kind of wondered if this is how it was going to go in terms of Villanova would be able to withstand what Providence was doing both from an environment standpoint and obviously Providence being a damn good team. And that's exactly what happened. I can let you lay out the particulars here and then I'll tell you what I heard from talking to Jay right after one on one and then at Cooley. But Colin Gillespie has the best game of his career. He goes for a career high and he came up huge and early on, it was Justin Moore and both of those guys are like Jay Wright told me after they are seriously injured like the past few games here. The day before, the day of the games, it's kind of been a question of they're not going to play the trainer's going to Jay in the staff and being like, he's not playing and they call him Gillespie says, I'm playing. I'm going to play. And they did not look hampered whatsoever during that game last night. So plenty more to touch on this game, but I'll get back to you. It was an awesome environment and a really good night for the big east to have such a well played game, high scoring into the 80s, both teams were above 50% for well over half the game from shooting from the field and I had a great time. It was really fun time. It was awesome. You know, on paper, it was supposed to be a great game. You knew no matter what, it would look and sound great. You never know if you'll actually get a nice performance from both teams. And I know Providence didn't play its best. I think Ed Cooley said after the game. Like, you know, sometimes it's just not tonight. They were 5 of 23 from three point range that just could not make a shot on the other side of Villanova shot nearly 50% from three. In the first half, it was Justin Moore who was great. In the second half and really for the game, Colin Gillespie, like you mentioned career high 33. Got the big dagger three with like 29 seconds south. We're sitting in studio and as soon as he got a little bit of space, I'm like, that's it. There was no doubt in my mind. He was making that shot. Just a big time. And we were laughing because if you saw, of course, you saw you were there. At the very end, Jared bynum, bangs and a three. Like a second left to turn an 8 point game into a 5 point game. To ruin Providence's record in games decided by 5 or fewer points. It was 9 and O heading into last night and now at this moment, it's 9 and one. By the way, all you gotta do now is just move the goalposts a little bit. Providence is still 5 and O in games decided by four or fewer points. So you just gotta move it a little bit, but you might have saw this on social media. We were in pre game. And it's one of those, you know, like keys to the game, type thing. And I said, I said, well, like a vulva will be don't get in a close game with Providence. You know, if you go and win this thing, you'd better be up 8, ten, 12, you know, at the under four, 'cause it's because if you get into a close game with Providence and here's the clip that killed me. You're not winning that game. And then I went on to explain the record in close games and blah blah blah. That clipped and shared. I did not see this. Did it get clipped and shared? Oh, sure did. And assume as I said it. We walk off set. I go. I go, you know what? I was sitting there with Renee Montgomery, prince dove, or Wally Derby. I said, I should have said, I should have just I needed one more word. All I had to say was if you get into a close game with Providence, you're probably not winning that game. And then I'm fine. I learned a long time ago and I tell people all the time when it comes to predicting stuff, like publicly. Don't speak an absolute. Don't say there's no way this is gonna happen, or there's a 100% chance that's gonna happen. It's like one of my pet peeve. Like stop talking in absolutes about things that are gonna happen in the future. And as I walked off set and I was like, I can not believe I didn't put the word probably in there. I said, it is. Now, this is the way this is gonna fall. Philadelphia provides in a close game. And so at the end, after the result was decided. And it was clear Villanova was going to win and Providence was going to lose. It's an 8 point game, and I'm like, I'm still okay..

"Movement on the offensive and too much isolation basketball for them. And Seth, then I couched Purdue early in the year about two or three weeks ago, right? And defensively, they're starting to improve a little bit. But I'm still not completely convinced that they're off the counts. So they're knocking on the door. They're starting to do and what I mean by that is this is a national championship caliber team that has two bigs that we've talked about already. Jay ivy, who you can give the basketball to short clock situations who can create shots for himself and his teammates. They have all of the pieces. But defensively, they're just not been getting it done. Falling asleep on blockouts, not tagging the weak side gun that tag in the roller. They start to do those things a little bit better. So they're not completely off the couch yet, but they're not going on the bedroom door. You couldn't even make decisions. So you have them like in the hallway in the hallway. In the hallway. All right, here's my team off the count. They've never actually been on the couch this year. You've got to give a little love to Gonzaga. Because we gotta always stay up late to say they're playing at warp speed. Timmy and Chad homebridge been much more physical, much tougher. Much more competitive, just really, with a sense of purpose. And then my team on the couch is shocking. They wanted the first 15 games as Baylor. Baylor right now, kenjo, yeah, he went over and he's got to be better than that. If the flagler's out or criers out, it looks like cryer might be out for a while. Thank you so much. It's like a microwave to come off the bench and make sure it's not Meyer. Nothing great. Yeah, I think he's got a new role. People take for granted. Well, yeah, he's just going to step in. Well, you know, that sounds good, but he's getting other teams best defender. He's a focal point on the scatter report. It's just different. So I'm putting Baylor on the couch. I know coach drew. He's a very positive guy. He'll understand what's on with us last week he'll understand why he'll use it as motivation. Come up with some type of saying and you know, I'm sure he'll work his way off the cash but right now. He's on the couch. It's just the way it is. Like this. We gotta let the people know being on the couch is not a super bad learning because it means that you have opportunity for improvement to be able to get out the couch and in fact in your sleeping in your own bed. Fine. Divorce is a pretty expensive. You want to work your way, you want to work your way through the hallway for sure. Like, exactly crushed a couple of bucks. It could change your life..

"Yes. Thanks a lot for having me on that. Funds are always a big time games tonight. We'll be in the studio. Yes, sir. Perdue, Illinois, I look at Illinois and you'll get to start in 5 the greatest and the world's most inquisitive basketball guru recently misses YouTube. It could be. And he just gave me the information the other day that this Illinois team, granderson, Williams, plumber, Frazier, and Kofi coburn, are the most efficient group of 5 players in all of college basketball. They're playing against Noah's ark. Yes, with Jay niggers getting about 5 more shots a game. Obviously, the two head monster and trivia on Williams and Zach 80 Sasha's fabric who's one of the best post feeders who gets the ball off as quick as any guy in the country. Who do you like in that game? I give perdue the slight edge for that reason. If you look back to the game that the previous game that's close game tough down the stretch, Kofi coburn can not get in file trouble. When he gets in file trouble changes the complexion of their offense, they become more exclusively perimeter oriented when he's in the game. All of a sudden you use them as a screener. He's in the dunker spot. He's posting the movements really good because you have to decide whether you're going to double him or if you're going to let him play at single coverage. You Dublin. He's gotten to the point where he's a better passer out of it and able to get angles and get to the basket. So because of that and his having to guard two, not one, he's got a guard Zack eaty, and then all of a sudden, he's like, he goes out. Trivia on Williams comes in. He's got a guard for two of.

"I actually like it. What would Ted say to you when you have all these people throwing out his money at you and come march? You know what? Okay, now that I've watched about 8 episodes, he'll be like, does it change your life? Doesn't change your life. What makes you happy? Where do you belong? Other people. That's what he would say. And thank you for bringing that up because Jay billis has been I'm like, Jay Bill, let's just bring it up always, these Ted Lasso references. I have no idea what he's talking about. No, no, no. Me personally, I didn't think I would. I'm like, what the hell is that? You know what? As a coach, I'm like interesting. I love the story he was playing dots against this arrogant owner of the soccer team. And he was playing dots and they had made the bet and he said something about someone who's curious versus someone who is I forget what it was about curious. He says leaders are more curious than whatever. He was throwing dots and I guess the guy was a really good dot play. And he says, you never asked me how curious I was. And he said, I've been playing dots against my dad since I've been ten years old. Wow. I grew one right in the middle of the dot board and he collected whatever he was going to collect. Wow. You know what? It's not power. It's not power. I mean, it's not new Jack city for me. Old school. But it's good. The minute you called coach, many you called, I would change my schedule anything. Thank you, appreciate you, though, seriously. I mean that. Thank you for thinking about me all the time. Thank you for checking up on me. Thank you for being a mentor. You know what I mean? I know who I am. I know who's been there. And I just, that's why it's a coach you pick a time, I'll change, I got you. I appreciate man. Love you. Yes,.

"Nice little suit on and look real nice. So you got a pretty good eye for fashion. Now, just a little let you know, it's fascinating these days to be bald man. So you could join the brothers. I'm getting the other one time from the back up. I'm dead man. I just need you some clippers with a 5 zeros that get it pretty close and I see some edges. You're welcome to join me. There's benefits to being this brotherhood. I am getting there trusting you. I'm going the other way. Are you going to go? Are you going to go back to the suits? Coach, I can't tell you how much I love. Love the casual wear. You know what I mean? And for me, you know, how do we as older coaches of 52 at turn 53 in September? How do we stay connected to the younger generation? You know what I mean? Music and fashion. So I always tell the guys every time I go and recruiting, I wear my Jays. The freshest pair of J's I can then in a game I tell the players. I have a new pair of J's on every single day. You know, right away you walk in a locked middle like cold. Yes. So for me, not having to love the suits around in the garment bag and you can just travel in a basically a back sack. Yeah. I don't want to go back to sue for me personally. I get it from the professionalism. I get it from the image. I get it. But times are changing. Times are changing. If we can stay in this casual where I am all of money is what did I just say that because when we do college game day, I have a pair of purples that I wear every night there because I were Jordan Woods a lot. And I think I'm pretty clean up top. It's never mentioned a single thing about my pants my tied. The first thing they say, nice shoes, man. We like those. So you dial in absolutely agree with you. It looks like Clooney over at Philadelphia whatever wears it can look better. I just wait. It just puts a lot of pressure on the switch to come up with all these new assets. We're blessed because.

"Looks like. If you think I'm worried about them, I don't even see the mascot again. And you know what? If it's not ugly, it's working for us. That is working. So stay the way you are, baby. All right. Let's get to an interest one. You got one of my assistant coaches, one of my all time favorites. Yes, all right. My man Jay beat. Absolutely. You have a veteran staff and you have a staff, like you talk about education while everyone else is talking about NIL. How is it that you have this veteran staff that's been through the war so understands to take things off your plate so you can focus on the important stuff. And then they've got to go out and recruit and everyone talks about education, but people transfer not because education. People try to play in times and shots and everything else. How do you balance all that? Because to me, you know, and I also become bigger than the value of an education. To me, it's maddening to me because the best way to change your station life is to have a degree be employable and break the cycle. And how do you find that balance? Great topic to talk and I appreciate it. I'm so fortunate to have literally 5 head coaches that work with me. I mean, JB is a godsend. He's the silent assassin. And I always say I'd rather have great evaluators versus recruiters. You have to be able to evaluate who can play for Ed Cooley, not who can play at Providence college. It's a big, big difference. You know, the most talented guy is probably can't play, not that we won't try. But what is in their DNA that match the way we want to play in the way I coach. Number one, our player development, we're not at a school that's going to attract you. We can't. I'm not saying we can't get you and your profile as you grow. But the odds are, don't waste time on guys, you can't get these kids thinks bigger is better, and that's why the portal is loaded right now. Fine guys, that fit us that no our identity, and I want somebody who wants what we bring to the table. And we talk about this NIL, and here's the deal. Look at professional. How many professional athletes do you see on TV with endorsements? In men's basketball, LeBron came I mean, you got to be like damn near a Hall of Fame at baseball players. How many people actually on television? So what makes you think average in four points a game? Three times. I'm gonna get you know a $10,000 now you gotta be real with your dudes, man. Like, be transparent and direct. When you got to staff the way we have, I think I've been Thomas is a head coach. I think Jeff battles a head coach. I think Brian Blaney is a head coach. I think ladan Hinton who's one of the younger stars in the business coming up. We got a good group, man. And we're all bought in this one. Nah, man, first of all, the head coach gets the credit and he gets the criticism. So if you get a great player, the head coach you're gonna get the credit. But the head coach's job is to make sure that you share the sugar. You share what we're doing as an organization. What we're doing as a program isn't me. It's us. It's together and ultimately we'll get where we want to get to with a little bit of luck. That's how I look at this staff and how fortunate we've been. But if you're not direct and open and honest with your guys, kids feel that, man. They know when they know when you drive them. And when you're coming up my office, you better be ready for real. You're real. I want to jump back to Justin mania for a.

"And they pay you, come on. You've had established players like Nate Watson, but you've also really taken advantage of the transfer portal. So you bring in Justin mania, you bring in Al Durham. How have you been able to weave those guys into the context of what you do offensively and defensively? I think it's a credit to them on their buy in. They have been, they have been gifts. Their character, their toughness their their emotional buy in, you know, when you have somebody for a year, emotionally, they can be disconnected and just out for them. And what I talk to them about was, hey, why not be an NCAA tournament team? So way back in June, we wrote march 13th on the board. And every pre game speech I talk about because, you know, you can't be new rock me every day. So I just write, I just write march 13th and it's only been one player in the roster. And then I walk on who's probably our most important player in Andrew fonts, march 13th, because only natives played an NCAA game in the guys. You get to that tournament, it can change your life. It literally can change your life. Well, that's what I wrote on the board. And I say, hey, we're talented enough. We're old enough. Playing for me, you're damn sure going to be tough enough because if you ain't tough, don't even walk in the door. Speaking of speaking to be tough enough, though, I got a question. The friar mascot that you have found. I got to be honest with you. We got to redesign that thing. I mean, the big humongous one. It's coach. I'm a basketball coach. When I start worrying about what the mascot.

"Out of Kentucky's book, applied that defensive game plan and they executed it beautifully to be able to get a one point win on their home floor. Does this make you have a greater concern about Kansas because let's face it gets whacked by Kentucky? Yes. Then bounces back and has back to back really good wins. They beat. However, they beat Iowa state. On the road and all of a sudden say, wait a second. It's the lightbulb on a little bit. You see more Jalen Wilson. You see, you know, more Don Harris, you see more of a Christian brown's been good all season. Karmic starts to play better. And last night, against let's face it, when you think about the big 12 conference, the defense played the big deal. Incredible. Is next level 5 teams in the top 50 in defensive efficiency. All a little bit different, but a lot of them sideline oriented. Does that make you have a concern big picture of Kansas in the NCAA tournament? Because Wilson has been better in the last 70 8 years. You know, we've seen, obviously, Christian brown's been good all season long. David McCormick has been better on the offense last and he's finished a little bit better. But last night, at Texas, at Texas, big time environment. They don't win. So are we going to be basically creatures of the moment and just oh yeah, Frank forgetting them as they look at the Kansas got to or are we going to say, look, college basketball's hard to win a game. You plan on the road. Against a good Texas team. Not very Texas team, but they can really go defensively. I mean, they had a bank of shot in entry Mitchell. Thanks for shouting. From three Z car gets in the lane kicks it back. I mean, Carmen almost a half court shot at the end of the first half of the quarter, that obviously, so there are some things. I can't just had that game under control and Texas made some place. So I mean, are you basically discarding Kansas? No, they're on the couch for now for sure. That completely divorced. That's.

"Be trying to add a 12 team being Gonzaga because if you do that, remember, you will have soccer, volleyball, golf, all these teams. So far away. I mean, that's a flight GP. Like, come on now. I mean, would you go Providence to Spokane? Exactly. I mean, what? But if you do that if you're the reason why they're talking about it, though, is if you add Gonzaga to your conference, I mean, it's undeniable at that point. You are at worst the third best conference in America for men's basketball. At worst. And you will actually have a chance in a given year to be number one or number two if Gonzaga can stay at the level at that. So that's why obviously you do it. You add Gonzaga and it brings even more relevance to your name. But it's on the other damn side of the country. It's a big country. We live in a big country. We do. So my guess is that this doesn't happen, but I think that, you know, it's being discussed. Okay, let me roll down. Give me your thoughts. Here's how I see the leaks. Here's how I see it shaking out. Nova X, Yukon. Then I've got seat in the hall in the four spot. I think this is probably the toughest team to forecast in this conference. They are my dark horse, they've got a really good second teamer in 6 6 ton before, Jared roden, who averaged 15 last season. I think him in miles kale will actually probably combine a nice one two front court duo there. They'll probably put it more than 30 a night. Bryce aikens health is huge. If he can be fully healthy, it's going to be a game changer. He's a Harvard transfer, who has just been snake bitten throughout his entire college career. Well, we have a bounce back season for Kevin Willard. He had an NCA tournament team 5 years running until last season, which was just an average group at win 14 and 13. So we'll see I've got the hall for. I've got the Johnny's 5. You know, you got champagne back big time player, really big time player. Might be the second best player in the conference. 1907 last season posh Alexander. He's fine. That's David cost favorite player. He loves him. And you know what? There's a lot of reasons to love him. He averages 2.6 deals on top of 11 points four times a game. Golden Gate Mike will have this team near the top in tempo. It'll get up and down the floor again. I think if you're St. John's fan and you want to demand of your program this season that you finished in the top 5 of this conference, I actually think that's fair. Would you agree? When you look at what they bring back, coming off of last season, St. John should have a top 5 team in the big east. I think they should finish fourth in the big east. You like a moon before? Jerry palm has this as a four bit league. Villanova Yukon Xavier and St. John's. Yeah, this is a year where I think Golden Gate Mike can be in the instability tournament, which is where he belongs, as far as I'm concerned. He's gotten there with all the other programs. He's coached before and does seem like only a matter of time. I think I got this as how about this? So I have this as a four bit league this season. I've got the hall in four, but we'll see where the Johnny's land and I could wind up being wrong on that. I got PC, the friars right after that. They got big Nate Watson, 17 and 7 guy. He's good. AJ Reeves is a wing around him. I think he's fine, then you try and fill in the holes. From 2014 to 2018, Ed Cooley had PC in the tournament every year. It's the only such 5 year run in the history of that program. The friars would have gone had we had a tournament in 2020 so they had a tournament quality team there. Now they're coming off a 13 and 13th season. Seems to kind of safely project as an NIT group. But we'll see. I think the biggie's actually will open itself up to having a team pop and be surprising. A team I don't think that will be, but I'm going to put them where they are because of the coach is creighton. They lost more than 80% of their minutes from last. This is just a reset. They've had an NCAA tournament team in for the previous 5 seasons. But they got this freshman redshirt freshmen. I'm going to try and pull this off right now. Roddy andro Nicosia V Lee? I'm going to have to work on it. But he is, he will be one of the two or three best freshman in the league. And so his name again, how about you give it a go? You want to give it a go? It was just gonna be rotty. And then it's a and DR O and IK ASH VI LI. Yeah, that's roddy roddy. There we go. We'll see. My bottom four, I was too high on butler last year. Maybe I'm too low now. I got butler next, Aaron Thompson coming back, boha, just he's injured for the time being coming back. Bryce enzi. Good stuff. Laval Jordan's in his 5th season. He made the dance in this first season. Butler like butler would have gone in 2020. Clearly had the resume. We didn't have a tournament. But the bottom line here is, I think view fans have an experience this since 2018 get into the tournament. It's been up and down. And he doesn't enter the season, I think with as much pressure as say Travis steel, not a hot seat situation. But if I think Seattle is the toughest to project, I would put butler number two on that. And then I finished out with Georgetown marquette de Paul. Amino Muhammad, the preseason player of the freshman of the excuse me in the big east he'll lead the way. They've got Dante Harris back, lead guard for Georgetown. I think he will break out. They lost. The last cutest wahab to Maryland after, I'd love to know the story behind that, by the way. Patrick Ewing, one of the best players, literally probably like a top 5 all time college basketball player. A big at that develops cutest wahab into one of the most improved players in the entire sport last season. What does this do do? He transfers out to Maryland of all schools. That's a stinger. So they don't have him. Citadel transfer kayden rice is intriguing. And by the way, there's a young man on this roster named Ryan matombo, perhaps you've heard that that's pretty pretty cool. But I cheat down just to add a marquette. They'll have Daryl more cell with marquette shotguns building something. But listen, I'm just going to set the bar low in year one. They'll probably clear it, but I got them second to last. And then the other coaching change Tony stubble field at Paul, they've got the best thing I can say about to Paul, because they got a player name corvair Macaulay and that can only mean one thing GP. Passage of our CEA. Pass it to cavas. Everybody sing it now. Sing a TP. That's not gonna be something you do.
