"So moving over to city news. First off that hot mic. That caught mayor lori. Lightfoot cursing after alderman. Rosanna rodriguez sanchez. Spoke about a resolution honoring black history month during today's city council meeting today. Let's take another look to have contributed to make this city a better place for all. Thank you thank you. All the chair recognizes alderman. Jim gardner okay heather. What happened here while my reporting shows that she had just been informed at that moment that alderman burke and alderman lopez to of her fiercest critics on the city council had joined forces. And we're going to block of vote on the big federal relief package. That was on. Today's agenda alderman. Ed burke has been at odds with mayor lori lightfoot since the beginning she ran on sort of rooting out corruption in city hall and she painted him as the face of everything that is wrong with chicago politics and she's been at odds with random lopez. You know basically from the moment. He is an ally of alderman bark and he has been highly critical of how how she has approached on her time in office. She was vulnerable on this issue because she was being fiercely condemned by progressive groups. Alderman burke and alderman lopez. They had their own questions about it and they saw this as an opportunity to exact. Some perhaps political revenge enforce all of us to come back friday afternoon chewed see if they can get this passed against.

"It really is a matter of life or death before we hit the weather here. We're going to dip into very quickly to live news conference at away right now. Mayor Lightfoot addressing the new Ed Burke indictment. She's called for Burke, who resigned listening to the mayor, but no matter what we no one can serve with integrity, and legitimacy, and deliver on behalf of their constituents with this kind of allegation hanging over them. And so for these reasons I've I'm calling on him to resign. Bill. Well, we are, as you know, from a statement last night. I've asked the corporation counsel to look into the specific allegations in the superseding indictment that reference. But don't name by name current. And former city employees and also vendors once with that investigations complete we'll have a better understanding of what role if any, they played whether they were unwitting or not, and it will take appropriate action if any at that time. Craven as I said, we are conducting an investigation and once we have a better understanding of what role if any these individuals played. We'll be better position to be able to answer that question. The moral authority of being mayor of the city, the authority that the voters gave me as a mandate in the election, as I've said repeatedly we cannot move forward and tackle the tough challenges that we are going to face as a city when we have individuals in elected office, who are alleged to have gauged in not just criminal conduct outside of the role but criminal conduct using their positions as elected officials and trying to use the levers of government to profit themselves at the expense of citizens and taxpayers in the city. Yeah. Yeah. Do you think about breathing it other people's oxygen? No. And I think that's unwarranted. Well, I mean, I think we've got a lot to worry about that should not be on anybody's list. I think that's the most important thing of all of this. Of course, you're supposed to hydrate and put lotion on except. But we should be aware that we're always breathing in, you know, since we're gonna be germophobic. We should be aware that we're always sucking. I take I take public transportation. So your recommendation is what now to live with it or not not no not to live with it. But to know that you do live with it. "His name is Ricky Ricardo. Yeah. For real really? Yeah. And he's married to Lucy. Yeah. Okay. All right. Listen. This is exactly the kind of comedy. They're doing over in the west wing right now. Let's talk about what's happening in the news. Yes. So Ed Burke has an hour and a half left as your finance committee. Chairman. We've got a hold of his resignation letter. And it is date of effective five pm today was just sentenced to signed yours. Truly ad. So we got to wondering why he still has his security detail 'cause you may remember a certain Spiring mayor by the name of Rahm Emanuel back in twenty eleven saying that he would Holbrooke security detail. And a certain police superintendent named Gary McCarthy saying it had been done. But of course, is the scrutiny has returned at we see including video we're playing now for you on crtv lo and behold this morning outside of Mr. Brooks home. He's getting into a police vehicle driven by somebody who appears to be a police officer. So we started digging into that today and learn some interesting stuff. So after the mayoral campaign finished in twenty eleven and Rahm Emanuel had said that Burke would be stripped of his bodyguards turns out there was a deal made in which they were recategorized. They were given a special designation called special police and paid for out of the finance committee's department not out of the police department. But we noticed today. They're driving a police vehicle. And when we contacted the Chicago police department about it, they said, oh, yeah, we're trying to get that car back doesn't seem right. Yeah. "Thank you. We had a little bit of a scare on New Year's Eve. I started tell Lindsay the story. So we have a bunch of people over we have a big group that we have up at our place. And for all of a sudden my wife smells, something burning. And we're like, that's funny. And we're smelling it and it smells like it's some kind of plastic burning so myself uncle, Mike, Mike check. Hausky? I think I'm gonna start honking when I say, my check about this funny because I say his name so often, my friend might that people say, I go, well, you know, my friend, Mike, and they go Jack about s-k-y. We literally are walking around the house up and down like bloodhounds trying to figure out where it is. Then we elicit the help Joe of some of the women that are over because women tend to have a more sensitive nose than men. Right. I mean, that's a can I say that without having to be like, a sexist thing. No. Scientific fact. Yeah. It's it's primal Friday. It is. Yeah. It's sort of like, I'm just so careful now, I don't want to say anything I get in trouble. Anyway. So my friend Kansas is running around, and we're looking and we cannot find it. Well, we also might my good friends over at the Lindemann chimney company are doing some work on the on the chimney. When the weather breaks, we had a leak to some brickwork that they're going to work. But in the meantime, they put a tarp over it. We've been using the fireplace. I'm thinking, maybe it's maybe the tarp flipped over it was raining on New Year's Eve. Remember, we're shining a flashlight up there, it doesn't look like that's it literally for two hours. We couldn't figure out what? It was turns out, and we would go down to the basement area. And like in the middle of the basement, it's smell. I smelled the outlets. I smelled the light fixtures. I took everything out. There was an XBox. That the kids were playing on. I smelled XBox nothing. Couldn't figure it out and the smell kept wafting up into the first floor. Finally, it was actually the power source. You young kids will know what a power source for an XBox looks. Like, right, Joe like that big huge block. You know, it looks like a brick, right? Plugged into the system, and you looked into the wall. Right. So it's this big block. And I moved the talent in that was behind the television set. Right. But it was just enough like something was burning and I put my nose to it. And I give it Tonka Mike he smells it. That's exacting. We knew we unplug. It put it in the garage smell was gone. So of course, because I'm a scientist, I take it all apart. So now your kids have to play the XBox in the garage. No now, the XBox is done. It's an old XBox. But I took the whole thing apart. And it was melting inside a while. I mean that could have really been a fire. But what was amazing is you just couldn't locate the smell because of the way it was working, and it was faint enough that when I went right next to it. I couldn't smell, but. Then when I actually picked up the power source and put my nose next to it. It was like we have to solve this problem. So they weren't playing it. It had just been plugged in for a while. While somebody was playing with that. Then I even thought about it. I'm like I'm going to turn it off. But I think that power source still stays on. Right. You know what? I mean it does. It's a standby mode. Right. Right. Right. See I get the young millennials here. Telling me about the XBox very. Thank you Leong yells.
