"Steelers have it 1st and 10 at the 12, and they neutralize them to the point. They get a third and four at the six Vernon Butler gets pressure on Roethlisberger hurries a throw to harass out of the backfield. It goes in the complete they kick the field goal Second Red Zone, driving the third quarter by the Steelers. First and goal from the four. Porter and White Stop Harris for a two yard loss. Second and goal from the six Johnson with a fantastic pass break up on Eric Ebron in the left side of the end zone on an island where the 65 tight end as a 5 10, DB maybe makes the best pass defense play of the game and then third and goal from the six Milano and trail technique is able to knock Harris down and tackle him in the open field. On a crossing round underneath to stop them at the three and it's a field goal again. Let's not forget the defense in the first half, forced five straight punts and held them scoreless and then in the second half, forced to field goals on to red Zone possessions. Yeah, now it kind of went the wrong way after that. The D P on Levi, which again I think at least make an argument about because yes, he never got his head around, but he made a play on the ball. But I just think when a ref doesn't see the DB turn his head around. He's throwing a flag and the ball was virtually uncatchable, too. It was under thrown he under through it, and I think that's the reason Ben Roethlisberger throws it like that, and he he's asking for help because he can't throw it out there ahead of him and the flag came in late. It was not from The back judge it was from Who is that the lot? The line judge. I think the guy that's up on the line through it. No way. There's no way Roethlisberger thought his guy was going to have a clean cat. But Levi actually makes contact with the ball. He he literally defends the past. Now I know if there's contact it doesn't matter if you defend the past, you got to call it but My only guess is the ref who is far up the sideline. Who's at the line of scrimmage? Who threw the flag on this play? Said, Uh, he never got his head around. Must have made contact. I'm throwing it. And just through it, and it's a 26 yard gain for. I mean, Levi's a surprise. Everybody else. Yeah. I? Yeah. There you go. You got to live with it. So you have no reason Got an I n t that gets negated by a question of defensive holding. I mean, look. Where the two penalties the reason they lost the game. Probably not. But they certainly help Pittsburgh win. It would have been a much different second half it wouldn't have been a two score game. When a minute to score game with 10 minutes left, Yeah. So And you know these and the plan is this defensive holding? Ah, top of the route is where they called it. Not there and Yeah. What are you going to do so It's unfortunate, but I can't believe those even out. Leave that. No place in the in the defensive. Secondary. Did any Pittsburgh Steeler do? Less than that. Yeah, and not get and get called, you know, or I don't know. The Steelers did at least that if not more on the defensive secondary in the same game and didn't get called You know what I'm saying? I That kind of stuff happens every route in the NFL, and they decided to call this one and not like that's Because he got his hand on the shoulder pad. That's why it's getting called it was. It was the inside and I think you gotta you gotta he had his his four finger and his thumb pinching the jersey And that was what they called. So there you go. So that's that. Let's get to Josh Allen's comments on the offensive struggles against the Steelers. Certain situations in the game. You gotta Got to figure out how to how to get something going. Um You know, we just We didn't have everything today and again. Just early and just finding some things and missing Emmanuel on the deep throw. Obviously, that's when I went back when a defense like this gives you that type of opportunity. Uh, you've got to execute him and make those plays happen. Um You know? I didn't. We didn't. It is what it is, Um, but again, so it's a good tape to learn from and you know, it's never as good Never as bad as you think on tape. So Um You know, we got some work to do We know that we're looking forward to this next week. And, uh, you know, Getting out there on Sunday and then Josh Morris specifically addressed what he saw from the Steelers defense through the course of the game on Sunday. And and pressure as much. Um, you know, they They use their front four and they've got to. They've got a really good front for, you know, they got some depth there, too. That can make some plays and get after the quarterback a little bit, But, um You know, Like I said, early on, just being smarter with the ball and finding completions and forcing them to maybe get tired and, uh, just doing it a different way. You know, we'd come out and play how we wanted to, um You know, Like I said, we'll we'll watch this tape and we'll learn from. There's gonna be a good things to learn from that, you know,.

"If it's me, I'm going to take Woods. He's just been, uh he's been more reliable and had a slightly higher floor. Yeah, and one thing I think it's worth noting. I don't know how many people Actually fall into the trap of evaluating like when they're deciding Robert Woods there, pick how often he or she is saying, Okay, it's Robert Woods or Cooper Cup. More likely, it's Handful of wide receivers You're deciding between it's Robert Woods until your point, the other wide out that are in that tier and like, focus your energy there. Don't focus it on which Rams wide receiver I don't need to take. It might be. I'm just making these names up here. Robert Wood versus Terry McLaurin verses. I don't know. Whatever the you know, whoever you think in power, lock it or somebody in that rain evaluated through that prison, not through which Rams wide receiver you need to take because they've both probably end up doing pretty well for you. A team that has Three wide receivers. We're going to be drafted in fantasy this year is the Steelers and the anti Johnson was the top pick stealer this time around, Mike any surprise there, or do you feel like it's justified based off of the volume last year and the way that Typically, Judy was used as really like the lack of a big play waiting. Yes, I think I think it's justifiable for sure. I mean, when Johnson is healthy and full go and a full go for the Steelers, he was the guy right. He was the guy that I had the huge target share. And you know, he missed missed action. There were a couple games left early early on in the game. Which people who had them in their liners, remember, Uh, what's the opposite of fondly? Not and not so good. Not so good, but still end up guys with almost 90 catches and over 900 yards last Last season, so you know he was he was he gets open. He sees a lot of targets, and that's really the key. I don't eat a lot of drops you into that some in the middle of the season. I'm not too worried about that. So those guys are getting open and are in their prime years and he's only 24. You know, it should be. All systems go, so I like him a lot. He's one of the guys that when I first ran, the projections popped up really high, Uh and and it makes sense because of the volume in an offense that can support three receivers. You know, there was only two offenses. They had three top 25 receivers. Last year. It was the Steelers and it was the Panthers, which I think would surprise a lot of people. But that's not new. That's not new for the Steelers at all during the Big Ben and Mike Tomlin era, they've Often supported three fantasy, relevant receivers and part of the reason for that is and this becomes more and more of the case. You're right. You have more running quarterbacks than ever. Guys can do more with their legs. You have more starting quarterbacks that are scramblers and add a lot of production that way, and if they pull the ball down and don't throw and scramble for 10 yards instead of throwing it That's less fantasy production for the wide receivers. Big Ben does not do that, right. He doesn't do anything with his legs. He there pass heavy offense, even with nausea, Harris, they're still going to throw the ball out. I think he's going to drop back. He's not gonna scramble. Uh, he's going to throw the football so that opens door for all of these talents of wide receivers to produce. So I think Johnson is the preferred target. I think Juju and Claypool are pretty close in line, higher ceiling for Claypool, but Juju and PPR as a very nice floor, and honestly, we'll talk about this more throughout the offseason, but Eric Ebron, I think, is perhaps the most underrated tight end. Not named Logan Thomas right now in draft. He was very productive. He was the top eight fantasy tight end after week two last season, and he's still the guy there. There's no more advanced McDonald. The number two in line is a rookie. I think Ebron is going to be busy this season as well. So yes, the Steelers offense can't support all these guys in fantasy. And I do believe Johnson is your primary target from this group. One of the most difficult players to place this year in rank eases Odell Beckham Jr. So I'm not going to ask you. I know you do have a metric or you don't have a projection is probably down to like the half yards of how much you expect him to produce this year. But when you're if you are drafting Oh, down, Mike is a thought process in your head. Okay? I'm willing to roll the dice and a guy that like I'm I'm exploring the possibility in my mind. I have accepted that, like he could finish in the top five wide receiver based off of talents and Obviously track record in the past, or you at the point now that you're only taking Odle, if like you've got enough already in the bank at wide receiver that he's more like, Don't say he's a floor play because there's something about Odell that screams like low ceiling other than the past couple of years, not going perfectly. What is your mindset? We are taking Odell What's the value you are looking for in drafting him? Yeah, Wide receiver. Three lottery ticket is my mindset right? Because, uh, you know, we just haven't seen. It's crazy to say we haven't really seen a consistently high ceiling from him in a long time. I mean, you look back at 2019. He went over 1000 yards. They'll need one top 10 fantasy week that season last year, he had that one huge game. But that was his only weakly finished better than 19th and sixfold game, So it just hasn't been there. As of late. He's averaging over the past four years under 10 games played Per season. And also he's 29. Right. So you know for, you know, fantasy purposes for wide receiver purposes kind of getting up there, right As you get close to 30. That's when you start to get a little bit concerned about ceiling, So I'm not sure especially in a run first offense that likes to move the ball around. That's going to use three tight ends in the passing game at times that drafted a Where do they take shorts? Round two. I believe it was. Maybe it was a day to pick Anthony Schwartz. So, uh, you know, it goes underground afternoon. Yeah. What's that? I think he was a third round pick. I believe there you go. So nonetheless, the day to pick on wide receiver Rashard Higgins was obviously pretty good in his place last season, So perhaps you want to factor him in Jarvis Landry. They threw two. They threw the ball more and got it to Nick Chubb out of the backfield more down the stretch last season, especially in the playoffs, so I don't know. I don't know if he is the target ceiling anymore, and I don't know if he's the same player. I think it's safe to say he's not the same player. He was. When he was lighting it up during his first three seasons in the NFL, so some concerns but at the end of the day field when you see him and he's the top of your Q, it's like man. It's Odell Beckham. You know if anybody could come out a surprise and go off and just have a huge top five season, it's a guy that has them raw skills. So it is. You know, it's a It's a tricky one. That kind of navigate through when when you're drafting, but for me And I'm looking for you right now. He is 25th on my board, so I'm honestly I raised all their concerns are probably a little bit..

Terry McLaurin Anthony Schwartz Nick Chubb Eric Ebron Odell Beckham Logan Thomas 2019 10 yards Juju Jarvis Landry Rashard Higgins Claypool Mike Tomlin 25th Robert Wood Harris Ebron Odle Steelers Judy

"This live. Let's ride we're on the spotify green room map and if you're listening live and you wanna talk just put in a speech requesting glad to talk to you if not. That's not a big deal. I have several people that always come in. And just listen to the show and that's fine. There's nothing wrong with that at all. My rider dive through came in big time so they gave me a lot of questions. And so we're gonna run through these. I can take time with them if that's the case. So let's do that. Let's get started with that. Twitter mail bag already read one question from katie. Let's get gordon. Gordon says this hey jeff your sp nation nfl show colleagues. And he's talking about a two two people that do the podcast for the nfl nation group and they are the chiefs chief editor and the cowboys chief editor. He's zero doubt. The steelers are heading for a meltdown. This season lead into the valley of death by number sept- talking about ben rothlisberger. I know the national media write us off every year but could you foresee third in the division at six and eleven. So my first response to this to gordon on twitter was you gotta love analysis from chiefs in cowboys fans and then of course The baltimore ravens. The website the baltimore beat down there editor has to chime in dimensions and just start to give his analysis like i even asked him to talk and he's talking about how you don't have to be fancy look. It's not about being a fan. But do these people to cover the chiefs in the cowboys as close as i cover the steelers. Do they really know what's going on. Do they know anything about what not candidate is trying to do in pittsburgh today november reports. Not as who was there who wasn't do they know about the reports of minicamp. The answer's no and that's why the national media is just constantly trying to beat up on the steelers and saying going to be horrible when they don't know they don't know. espn can go to someone like brooke. Pryor who's covering the steelers from pittsburgh but still other than that. I mean my gosh come on. They don't know better but still they're saying that they're going to be six nine eleven third in the division. I don't buy that for a second. I don't buy for the second. I know they have the most difficult schedule in the national football league. I know that. But at the same time i also know that this team typically plays well when their back against the wall and i also know that their defense i think's gonna be really really good and i think they could actually be a little bit better than last season. And that's your might find that hard to believe you're saying jeff you're nuts you might. You must be drunk because you obviously are saying. You know the derby without steven nelson without budget. Bream without mike helton. Yes yes and yes. I think they could be. I think they could be with cam sudden if james fear plays as well as we think again. I think alex smith is a better pass. Rusher than bud dupree to in of technique in terms of being really an expert at pass rushing technique. It moves. I think he is going to be there. The bud dupree now. I do have concerns about the run stopping. But i don't think this is gonna take a step back at all. I don't think they're gonna take a step back at all. I think they're gonna be really really good. So could they finish their. I guess l. at six and eleven. No i will bet a lot of money. That does not have put it that. The thank you gordon for the question is you're listening. Live on the spotify green room app. Please put in speed request. Glad to talk to you. Otherwise we're going to dive back into the twitter. Mail bag zips longtime listener the program part of the writer dai crew says do you think any of the steelers wide receivers break one thousand yards year or will the lack of a true number one wide receiver plus a hopefully better running game. Keep them from doing it. So this is a great question in. It's actually. I wanna plug this series myself. Dave skill theater doing. We're doing a series that started on monday. It is called thirty scenarios in thirty days. And what. This is. Dave scofield and i are just thinking of a scenario every day and give you an example. The very first one that we did i rated on monday was nause. Harris will break. Franko harasses rookie rushing records. That was the scenario number one inside the article. We outline everything from why do happen. Why won't happen in our prediction ends. We do this for everything and so that was on monday. David his on tuesday. Which was the steelers. Defense will have sixty sacks and. It's really interesting that the one that i'm doing for wednesday now at the time this being recorded live on of our grammar is the steelers will have two to one thousand yard receivers to one thousand receivers twenty twenty one and as i was sitting in typing this article i was thinking. Okay why will it happen. I think that the balanced it'll be provided for running game will help i think the chase claypool is. He's going to be big play machine. And i do think that someone like diontae johnson. If he can just hold onto the football will be a really really big threat. Want it happen. Maybe rothlisberger doesn't play that. Well maybe the running game is so effective. They don't have to throw it as much. And maybe there's just not enough football around. I mean you talked about the three players last season. That finished over eight hundred yards receiving. You're talking diontae. Johnson chase claypool. Juju smith schuster. And then you had. Eric ebron was over. Five hundred. james washington was around five hundred They all have a lot of. They have a lot of weapons. And maybe there's just not enough a bus go round. If they can run the ball. I think they will. You'll re disney article. My prediction was that they will have to receivers over thousand yards in twenty twenty one. I think that the running game going to open things up in the passing game play actions going to be big. I think you might see bigger. Plays in the passing game which leads to more yardage as for the which receivers. I think we'll be over thousand yards. You have to check out the article. A little teaser. All right let's give if you wanna talk on spotify green around put it in a speaker request ivy. Glad to bring you. On and talk a mendez says assuming decastro does not retire. I believe i read. It will result in about an eight and a half million cap savings. Oh i'm sorry. Assuming decastro does retire sees at eight and a half million cap saving saw. The steelers had visit jerry turner..

And so he's he was there but he was not participating only steph onto he stepped onto it will not was not in attendance any day as being recorded he is obviously dealing with the hit and run accident that killed his brother done georgia just a tragic story and absolutely tragic story stefan was not an attendance was obviously excused. Eric ebron zero. On tuesday missed on wednesday and again. That was an excused absence. Mike tomlin always talk to the media after every practice in workout and said anyone. That's not here has been excused by me there. I think what he's trying to say is it. I'm aware of players that are missing. This is not a holdout situation. This is not a situation where it's a disgruntled employee. This is a situation where sometimes things happen. And so there you have that so the last thing that we learned. Is that the rookies. This was their first real chance at seeing what nfl. Football's like without hitting in mini camp. They're allowed to do eleven on eleven work. This is their first time with all the veterans there. When you think about someone like quincy rochet. I'll just brought up earlier. I'll bring them up again. He's probably he's been a rookie minicamp. He was it all the phases. Vote as Now the sudden tj watches up. I mean think about that here. You are sixth round draft. Pick out of my out of miami and next thing you know a guy that has finished second. The last two years in defensive player of the year rolls in. And you're like oh my gosh. That's t. j. watt and is is probably a little bit of a shock just like you know pat farm youth and eric ebron shows up. Were najji harris. He just he's been there the whole time. It's the there's been and then there's all these other guys haven't met yet so it's it's a situation where the rookies are slowly. They're continuing to get acclimated. They're continuing to get ready for this upcoming season. The steelers are going to need them to contribute and so getting them acclimated as early as possible. This ties in with the attendance part of things. It's good to see it's good to see there's plenty that we can glean from football and shorts in many camping in lot of it is not on field stuff. He listened to what i just said. A lot of it came from interviews came from media. Time it didn't it did not always come from. Wow this player made a great catch. Th that's not telling you much we'll just put it that way okay. We're gonna take a quick break when we come back after the break We're gonna to talk about what to expect in the dog. And jad okay. So right bobby. John is going to be the swing. Vote here and we're going to see where it is going to be. Bobby john ebron buddy. John and abraham have been tight hallway through. Why does bobby. John vote out ebraham. He's he i think. Bobby jonah's missing a few entries from his mental rolodex or he just thinks the step is better in challenges and he wants to win one probably. It's probably more likely that. And he did tell staff that he was going to vote with her if she voted out james even though she like went back on that and voted with james. The first time body. John should steph. Should way more heat. For that. From bobby john but he doesn't seem to really care. I don't think he knew. I think yeah. I mean he was the previous one. Because i think she's she says to him that it must have been angie. That voted for you. Yeah so i. I don't know why he does us. It must be the challenging because he made a promise but you'd think if he actually cared about the promise that he would not but he would just say. I'm going to vote with you. And not tell her basically like exactly what you tell somebody that you're not gonna vote which is like i don't know actually i really love this challenge. Though they got the the slide puzzle tree male. I missed in getting these things to practice. Men and have a little clue as to what these challenges are going to be. And so that was the one where they're doing the side puzzle in the water and i thought that that was an amazing really like collor show them at camp but made them think he was the flight puzzle. Master the water saying like no. That's not right. If been there from the beginning. I actually feel confident. They would have won. I think yeah. Maybe it's like the times we're staff didn't really assert her. She kind of just like allowed things to happen. So you know with the the not of james and then with letting bobby.

Okay and i went with anthony mcfarland. Woo woo. kenny woo antoine. brooks junior and carlos davis all right. Let's go back to offense an offense a player ready. Yeah i do now. You went with one running back. I'm gonna go with another and a lot of people are going to roast me for this. Because they're gonna say this guy's not going to make the team but if i'm number thirty eight jalen samuels. Don't tell me. I'm not making the team. I'm going to do everything i can to make this team. The fact that he has had a lot of great success in college he was drafted because of his success running in the system and receiving in the system of mark ca canada. So i was gonna mark canada so that was going to be another guy along with bill. Tomlin that you guys get a lot of fun whip. But what i'm saying about jalen samuels. He's not done yet. he doesn't think he's done yet if he's going to do everything he can to make this team and the odds are against him right now. So what. I'm going to say jalen samuels could be the guy not the guy that he's not going to be. He's not going to take over. Najji harris he. But you've seen what he can. Do you saw what he can do. On december seventeenth two thousand eighteen against the new england patriots. You saw that great effort. He has the talent to do it with candidate here. I actually think he's going to do something. He clings to that one game. Pretty hard I guess we do not him so brian just real quick you. How running backs the steelers keeping. Let's not count the fullback counting dare back. I'm thinking for okay. So who's your four. We know nause harris mcfarland. You think jalen samuels. Your fourth is i. I'm not going with balaj here on still going with benny snell. Okay all right. That's fine jay. Joyce has a lot of people in the live chat. Disagree. that's fine. that's that's why we do. Were supposed to agree all the time. I'm going to stay with offense and is going gonna be A rookie but i think that this rookie could actually help his team a lot. More than people think and that is bad. Fridays when i put out that poll on twitter a lot of people you know Pat for just going to be used as a blocker. He might be just more red zone target. I think you are forgetting did. This guy was in athletic player at penn state. he was not just a Some people were setting them up like he's matt spaeth. I'm just gonna come in and block. You know do do i think. And maybe i'll catch a few every now and then that to me that is not pad for armies game and i could be wrong. I could be completely wrong. And it wouldn't be the first time nor will be the last time. But i think the farmers is gonna give this team dynamic. That they haven't had in a long time he is more of a heath miller like a security blanket. Or whatever you wanna call it four. Benjamin todd rothlisberger then has been wanting that player in its on yvonne yvonne. That kind of player. He's not that kind of tight end. I think that he is going to At farming is gonna have a great year. I don't think he's gonna light up the scoreboard or anything like that. But i think people are gonna really be excited about what he brings to this offense going into twenty twenty two. He's going to surprise some people. And that's why. I'm on the sleeper side Pat me's that's you're going to hear news at heinz field when he makes the catch. It'll be fun. I hope he has a great year and he should. He's a second round pick. He should be contributed. So all right. We have two more two more brian. You say some of them. Yeah i agree with you on everything that you said except for one thing. I don't consider him a sleeper. Because i took expected to come in but everything you run there. I mean that's why i went with him because i think a lot of people he is tight end to. He's t to on the on the depth chart. He's behind ebron. I think a lot of people believe that lebron's going to be the one that plays over time and then friday is only going to be used with two tight end sets. I don't see it that way. I think there's gonna be chances. There's going to be times where they don't put a hebron revealed in us out there. And i think that that might work to his advantage. So that's not against ebron It's just that i think for me there blocker. He's more of a two way tied in and they haven't had one of those in a what so. Let me stay at tight end and let me stay with the guy that you were. Just talking about eric. Ebron either gazette gentry. I was like please. That's like i would go. Kevin reiter i kevin reiter would be on my radar before going to bring up eric ebron and the reason i'm going to bring him up is because we everybody in the live chat you throw out your ebron socks okay. Look he had seven drops last year..

"Want to make that very clear. Special teams rookies are always going to play on special teams if you make the team but so nausea hairs. We know he's going to have a big role. That's one okay. Pat farm youth. I still think. Even though eric ebron is going to be the tight end one on the depth chart. He's going to play. he's gonna play a lot. I think that's more than just being in contributor. i think he's going to have a very big role. It might be a blocker but he's going to have a very big role kendrick green. Everyone is expecting this kid to be able to win that starting center job and even if he doesn't win it outright feeling he will be the starting center by the sign that year ends. I think that is a huge contributor. If you even go into the fourth round. Dan moore junior. Can he beat joe hague. I think that he beats joe hague for a lot of reasons number one he could be that backup swing tackle. He has the size joe. Hey did not impress his time in tampa bay and if the steelers decided to part ways with haig it helps them in their compensatory draft formula in that matters for a team like the steelers that need all the draft capital they can get and then if you even want to throw in a fifth if you want to throw in account special teams. I'm not gonna count my boy presley. Okay i'm not going to count. That i should so. That's five right there. Let's count them. We'll throw in their big boy to sixty big big. Let's say he wins the job he gets the weasel out of town. That's jordan berry. So that's five. Could you have six buddy johnson. Maybe could be a player that if there's an injury events williams if there's an injury robber spelane he could be the guy that steps in. I'm not counting on that right now. There's definitely three. I think there's going to be four. Might even be five or six double. This is absolutely incredible. So what if if i thought the twenty twenty draft class was special. This twenty twenty one draft class might be special because they might have a ton of contributors early. Some might say that's not a good thing some might say that's a sign of a team that has a lot of holes. I'm not necessarily buying into that. But what if the steelers rookie class has four to five or six contributors outside of special teams job. Well done by. Kevin colbert and company. All right let's one more before we take a break. What if the wide receiving core is top five in the nfl. A lot of fans out there that the wide receiving core is. It's kind of its own enigma. Yeah you got to juju. Smith schuster back juju. Coming back was a big help. In my opinion so juges back. We know chase claypool was really dynamic. He's going into the second year. This still young. So learning diontae johnson. He has issues catching the football. That sounds just so idiotic when you say it out loud that receiver in the national. Football league had struggles catching the football. That's what you're paid millions of dollars to do. I digress. be diontae. Johnson is also a very dynamic player if you get him in space you get in the ball and space. It's rare that one person's going to bring him down he's normally gonna make someone miss his lateral speed and agility is unbelievable when he gets the ball in his hands. He's dangerous. He throwing james washington who is different than any other receiver on their roster. Not the specimen of chase claypool. He doesn't have the the. I i don't even comparing him to juju smith. Schuster is not the right comparison because james washington not a slot receiver. I still think the juju smith schuster is best suited for the slot. Even though it's probably not going to happen that way in twenty twenty one. James washington is down the field player. He is tough he will make the as great hands great combat catcher He's gonna be the odd man out in those scenarios still great depth and then he's around ray ray mcleod he's kind of like a diontae johnson types smaller. He can run the ball. He can definitely catch the ball. Not going to be more of a gadget player. But still he is a contributor. I think that this wide receiving core is very deep. I've seen this wide. Receiving core is very good. And i think that they're going to be a huge part of this team success or failures. If you can't hold onto the football. I e diontae johnson iii. Eric ebron because you throw in the tight ends now is receiving core. Got even deeper. So i'm looking at this and saying could be top five. Absolutely they could absolutely could but again there's a ripple effect if they can run the ball better. It's going to open up the past but it's also to limit some of their numbers so this is not just all statistics. This is not just me saying that. They're going to have the best statistics in the national football league. It also me saying that honestly big just be that dynamic all right so we have more of the what. If game coming up we went through five. We have five left in the second half. We will be back to talk about all those after this break. Stage.

Kevin colbert eric ebron Eric ebron James washington joe hague james washington Dan moore juju smith five Johnson three diontae johnson kendrick green Smith fourth round four diontae second half six contributors tampa bay

"So it's not it's not like it's just the nfl transition and where what the raiders are having an do. It's mostly the fact that he's a great guy but he's never gonna be your number one receiver and markey's brown. He's a great guy. He's a great speedster. He has a lot of speed. You can take the poplar defense. But he's never gonna put up to production and be number one receiver be the super valuable fantasy assets. So we're looking at jalen model. Who i think is much better than marquee. Frown i think is much better than henry ruggs but i still have some hesitations about jalen bottle. Which is why i would say. He's maybe not even the third best receiver in this class. Long-term dynasty wise. I think he's a valuable piece to the dolphins offense but they still have wealth fuller. They still have the binding parker who i still not in not completely out devante parker some good football on If he can stay consistent. I still think will fuller has some good football on. I still think those guys can be legit number one options for an offense. Have they have great year. I think that jalen model. He's not he's not next tyreek hill. Unfortunately no one's next hiree kill. I think he's a good receiver. I think he will end up being a wide receiver to on your fantasy team in years to come but now i don't think that he is elite. Fantasy option. Tyreek hill is a one of a kind player. And i don't think we'll see any anyone like him For years to come personally. He says he's this something about bill. Jalen wild seems like yes similar speed. But it's hard to compare anyone to tyreek hill with the things that he doesn't a football field and the giants went ahead and picked cadavers. Tony also for the same reason Speed kills and again. I have a problem with this. Pick as well because not only do. The giants have weapons there in slate in shepherd and kenny golladay eric ebron Ingram and saquon barkley already. But now you're trying to add in tony with the twentieth overall..

I mean he's one of those guys you don't need to see to produce the amazing thing about him. It's like what who was the highest drafted tight end. It will be him. it will be him right. yeah. I don't know what the number was before. That's a good question. Anybody wanna take a stab at google. It i know that we drafted kyle brady ethic with the sixteenth. Pick at penn state. I don't know how long how long ago was that. He played for the eagles the dolphins and it was it was green. I don't think the right name. I if if we're thinking of the same dude. Highest drafted tight end anyway. Call pits had an eighty three and three eighths inches wingspan. Ooh by the way. That's a longer wings belonged wingspan than any wide receiver. Let's see shockey. Jeremy shockey need to know this now before we go to the break. I have to know. Jeremy shockey was drafted. Pick number fourteen in the first round. Evergreen was picked them or twenty one in the first round. Eric ebron selected ninth overall as another one north carolina. I'm seeing tj hopkinson number. Ten overall ryan you add eric. Green was a first round. Pick number twenty one by the steelers back in one thousand nine hundred ninety then played for the dolphins and play for the ravens. Then play for the jets. "I'm going to put you in situations to actually win football games when you play well and I'm going. Give your you your pick of whichever receiver you want in free agency and we're going to pair you together as a package deal and that's how we're going to go about this thing. If not as good as the Forty Niners already ready made a fence, but it's a probably the second best pitch that Matthew Stafford's going to get But that doesn't you just put you just proved my point right as interested. We don't know. We don't know how much the foreigners are willing to give up. You know, that's scary. Maybe the 49ers stick with Jimmy Garoppolo and that'd be huge. But again, let's say you know, okay, let's say that another team. That's the talking about the Broncos. Let's say as you know, what I watch from the STC, you know, I'm from the SEC and watched a lot of Alabama and that kid Jerry jeudy man. I'd love to throw him the ball. I love to throw the ball more now and Robinson. You can't get your Judy. Maybe he says George Skittles my guy, you know, I like throwing TJ Hawkinson wage. I like doing Eric Ebron back in the day. TJ kettles my guy. You can't get George Kittle. That's what like drinking George Kittle for you Matthew, but I can't get to Hunter Henry. But doctor Henry's. And can you maybe Hunter Henry, you know, maybe there's there cuz there are other teams with cap space Henry doesn't cuz now you're compounding. There's a problem. There's a problem. Okay, if you don't get Matthew Stafford, I don't know if you can sell Hunter Henry or Allen Robinson or any of these other guys coming in here without the Matthew Stafford job real quick. I'm not disagreeing with a point but you you can't use those guys unless you're going to Tamper and I know that there's tampering that goes on but this has been pretty intense tampering unless you can go to me unless you can call Matthew Stafford. Hey Matthew, I'm going to conference you in one quick. Hi Alan Robinson. I got Matthew Stafford on the other line..

They were excited when they hired Bobby Ross. They were excited when they hired Steve Mariucci. They were excited when you know Bob Quinn came in because he was the next guy. Sometimes excitement of Hiree Day. Doesn't matter. It's going to come down to what he does. That's correct. Thank you, Dan. Always good to talk to you. Thanks, guys. Appreciate and Miller lines play by play, man. Um, yeah, I just think that at this point Long suffering Lions fans that they're they're They're deserved some kind of excitement and something bold and you know, this is again always hire or fire on years when this seven other opens, they never fire their coach of GM on here, where there's no other openings. Well, is there every year where there's no one? There was always a year where there's like last year before. Last thing is only two openings. And there was, you know, very rare. Yeah, but it's those years every time you give me that coaches, always eight other teams to get rid of it to say that, so they always gotta fight. But But these guys and you know, like you said, Mr There's no real candidate out there look like urban Meyer. So if you think of God from college but isn't who was who was a candidate for coach, there's like no, there really are. There aren't really aren't very many great ones. Right now. Nobody is coming back to the game who was great and just stepped away for a couple of years. And then next year, Tom Landry junior and then Bob, greasy jewelry. All these guys out there looking for a job? Yeah. Rocky Jr New Iraqi forward Vince Lombardi. That part The six movie out there? Yeah, Whatever Partitions grandson doing, Kevin. I'll find out they have a haven't the number seven pick in the draft, and so Uh, they may have just selected him to get that right. Who knows? Hey did he was on the selection, although I'm sure he didn't do it by himself. For Aaron Donald the year that the Lions took Eric Ebron, so if they just could have switched those two positions, the lines probably wouldn't have needed to hire another coach. What do you think this offensive coordinator for the Chiefs? You know, it's good. Yeah, right. Yeah. Yeah, but never coached his head coach, right? No, I don't think there's that brought Roberts led the defensive for, uh, for Marvin Lewis is done right to please don't hire Marvin Lewis. If you want people get excited. At least I'd rather have an offensive coordinator. Take another chance on somebody who might be the next great thing. Marvin Lewis has proven what he could do in the NFL many, many years. It's just it's not going to change if you want the mad about who he likes. You think he's Stafford? No, I don't think they Why would just keep bevel though? All right? Come on now why you would make a case. Making. What did he What did he do? Great in the five or six games that he had? I thought he was one of them. I thought he changed the atmosphere completely. "Just it was a surprise cuz I could have never thought that would happen. I'm like no way the browser not going to win this game and they did and not only did they win the game. They were up 28 nothing in the first quarter. It's crazy to me. Now. It does have to be acknowledged that Pittsburgh handed them a lot of points. First of all the very first play of the game maurkice Pouncey Z nine-time Pro Bowl center for the Pittsburgh Steelers. He's a pro bowler this year snap the ball up over Big Ben Roethlisberger's head and the brakes are covered the bad snap for a touchdown bam. First play seven nothing like oh what a crazy way to start the game and then it got worse and worse and worse than a two interceptions and a three-and-out and the Steelers had three turnovers just in the first quarter by the end of the game. The Steelers had five total turnovers Big Ben had yeah. He had five hundred yards passing. He had four touchdown passes. Oh, yeah, by the way, Big Ben also had four interceptions. Oh, that's not good. That's very very bad off and I just the Steelers played terrible. They didn't show up. They looked disorganized. They did not look on the same page. There was a play where Eric Ebron probably should have stopped in the window Big Ben thought he was dead. Eric Ebron kept going it's a guy open who ran the wrong route and miscommunicated with the quarterback. It was not good. It wasn't pretty and it's just it's insane to me how far the Steelers have fallen from where they once were dead at one point during this season. I made a video I talked about how I believe that the Pittsburgh Steelers were a playoff team. They were running the ball very well playing good defense. They had receivers making plays left and right. Do you have to Johnson Chase Claypool Juju Smith Schuster, the guy had good running backs, like everything was running a very very smoothly for Pittsburgh early on this year. And in the second half of the year, they fell apart. They couldn't run the ball effectively. They their playmaking receiver suddenly stopped making plays dropped passes like crazy Eric Ebron, Jack Johnson was a massive culprit. It just got worse and worse and worse and Chase Claypool emerged as a really good player, but it's like man, it was so disappointing to watch this really capable football team would fall apart and I just not to mention they had injuries on defense and made things even worse. They're they're probably the strength of their team their defense really got Kimpton fell apart as injuries piled up and the brown sorry the Steelers completely fell apart the Steelers just one point where a team I was very impressed with playing they were playing great football. I mean you can say well there were always signs. They weren't going very good. They're always overrated say what you want. They were playing fantastic football early on in the year and it just fell apart man. It's it's a It's a collapse a complete collapse the Pittsburgh Steelers and I want to really quickly touch on Juju Smith Schuster. Juju had a quote earlier this week and I don't know the intention if you watch the video of JuJu talking about it..

Can the Pittsburgh Steelers Go Undefeated?

"Are see. We are forced to listen to quarterback so often in the world of nfl analysis. So i just wanna thank you for helping lead. The db revolution espn daily. Why does this happen. You guys finally invited me or it's your time man your old team. The steelers are right now. Undefeated and that is surprising. Let's be honest to a lot of people. So how surprising is it though to you. I think it's it's. It's more surprising when you actually watch the games It's obviously surprising. Anytime team goes through more than half of the season and their undefeated. But when you watch the steelers play the second half against tennessee titans even watching them to send the backup quarterback gets the denver broncos or be dominated upfront defensively the way they were against the baltimore ravens but still be undefeated. I think that's the fascinating part is not just that they've managed to win. Every game is just inside of those games. you seen opportunities for them to lose. But they've made the place that they've to. I mean you can even look at a match up against the dallas cowboys and say you know gary gilbert and the dallas cowboys may have deserve to win that game. But that's what this lied about was going to come down to one possession games. He's gonna come our critical situation though football moments and at least it does far. The steelers have found answers to any questions in those important moments. And this is why you sit undefeated. So how does this defense stack up. Ryan versus the steeler defense. Is that you played for that. You helped lead. What are the holes in this defense. You know what. I don't think they necessarily have holes in the sense of of those things being a negative right. He's looking to make a rush. The passer with just for the obviously can bring bring pressure make fitzpatrick ultimate playmaker on the back end and i think they have really good corners. But they don't have that great court but when you all those things together i think you get one of the top defense in the league especially when it comes to pressure and turning the ball over we. That's what football is right. Like people aren't going to hold you. Thirteen points like we did wait. Like that's not the ball we play it. You can't intimidate people like i would get fined and kicked out of every game. Five play james harrison fell six million dollars a year. You can't do those things anymore. But if you could get the ball which the pittsburgh steelers do know that really helps and that's why this team world season. Well i wanna get into the difference between playing football then versus now especially because offense is king these days as you implied right there so the defense is the big reason. The steelers are undefeated. The offense though i mean they've been relatively relatively average so can eighteen built around defense. Like the steelers are ryan. Can that sort of team win in the modern nfl. I believe they can. I believe they can. Because if you look at the individual weapons offensively like they are extremely. good I think you you're missing that one running back piece but we look at pool. Smith schuster the johnson. Eric ebron like that's a skill set or skill position that a lot of teams would love to have especially teams not named became the city chiefs. And so if you can do all those things on the outside like they can. You can score points. Also look at this team at critical moments though. Think about tennessee. Titans having to get a drive late in the game even though been was a reception late like they were able to the ball greg band. There's gonna prevail on the road. The pittsburgh steelers had the hold on dearly man. Hold on they do for the baltimore. Ravens they score in the second half and they were able to do that then back pop. For the end zone touchdown pittsburgh and all the out cut to the chase. Claypool man play. It just seems that all the critical point of the season it's offense has been able to produce down to like. I said the dallas cowboy game last week obviously exploiting a very bad bengals defense and well in a team like the cat city chiefs right and i say okay. One had the baby stopped him have to limit big play. The pittsburgh steelers can do that with rush. Plays on the back end right. Play play man when they need to stop the big click now. Let's go offensively the only time we've ever seen patrick mahomes lose. He was in the playoffs. He was standing across from another super bowl. Winning quarterback that was tom brady and rothlisburger. Isn't tom brady but he can do. Some of those things in important moments. And we've seen of do those. And so i think this team can most certainly went into as you mentioned chase claypool his nickname if catching on with you but maple tron. He comes from canada. He's this guy. I didn't know anything about. I wonder if you did because he has seven touchdowns in his first nine games as a pro. What has he brought to this offense. I mean you look at what this league is turning into. Because of the lack of physicality it's a it's a size speed league right like it's starting to they used to be. It didn't matter what happened in the shorts olympics at the combine like if a fast it didn't necessarily mean it was going to translate do can do certain things there did me but it's starting to mean that at the wide receiver position because of the rules. Like if you could flat out run you're gonna probably get open because they can't hold you. You pass five yards. They can't hit you across the middle play putin critic who has great hands he tracks the ball. Well he has a big body and so when you have all those things just translate we've seen chase claypool. You know kind of come out of nowhere. They just kinda have a knack for finding people that sit what they want to do and utilizing them in a way. That truly helps the team chase. Claypool is just another example of that

"Great night it was a great night rick was phenomenal very intimate setting answered a lot of questions i'm glad for the people who had a chance to go out to that event at the city club and we do a difficult dinner with a legend and we'll have another one coming up shortly and fitz hosted what i hear and did a nice job by the way the tease i had gone before going to the break was which nfc prominent nfl player cut today maybe headed towards the forty niners and i just read this one the detroit lions have cut their former first round pick the tight end eric e bron released by the lions and i only bring up ibran because you know he's talking about a big fast tight end with a lot of physical ability not the greatest hands in the world but he was drafted in detroit by martin mayhew who's now in the nine or front office in the niners always looking for big playability heck they just signed jerk mackinnon mckinnon is a big play receiver out of the backfield as a running back brian would give them a big playability tight end piece it'll be interesting to see if they make a play for eric e bronze seemed like since vernon davis for united been going through tight ends you know somebody who can stretch the seam and also maybe somebody who could really replace logan paulsen as a inline blocking option yeah so i think you may see them go after a tight end but hebron's interesting just because martin may you invested a you know a first round pick and him and he's demonstrated all that athleticism that he had it north carolina he's been inconsistent but he's a big play guy at the tight end spot and if you're looking for somebody to create space stretch the scene you know you know be that guy can get you a fifty yard pass play from the tight end position eric ibran might be what they're looking for.
