Riot Games VALORANT / MSI Plans Show an Esports World Leaving LAN-Hibernation

"In Eastport during a pandemic is difficult thing to do Valor has done a pretty good job getting up and running without business as usual to rely on but today where I walk ins and outs of these Sports first land over a year since the game came out in beta in late May for VCT stage two masters. The top teams will be traveling directly vik Iceland to compete with that's still a long ways away, but it's really cool that we can actually have lands booked into the schedule again, even if fans still won't be able to attend this event the only major land to go down during the pandemic was Riot games pulling off League of Legends World in a bubble like environment at the height of the outbreak as cases shoot back down to earth and more people are vaccinated events are slowly going to pick back up cautiously optimistic is how I said, At this rate, it seems like fans will be in stands by early summer at least At A reduced capacity for I'd games they put all their chips in on Iceland this year. In addition to the stage two masters Iceland be the host of MSI running from early May up until a few days before VCT. I mean if you're going to hold multiple events in one country during a pandemic Iceland probably makes a pretty good choice. The back-to-back of MSI and then the stage two masters is kind of reminiscent of the old Festival like feeling of ESL and dreamhack events and honestly should be a ton of fun. It's a Fortune, of course, the fans won't be able to attend and receive that long but for the players will have a great time for people who aren't totally up-to-date on Valor and Esports. I'm getting a little ahead of myself here considering the first stage one Masters event still hasn't even happened that event is taking up in mid-march and it's also really noteworthy as it's going to show the first time since first strike that the overall appetite for top Valerie T sports events. I'm really curious what the viewership is going to be like on that one because it'll really highlight the fan favorite teams and how much will foothold Valerie has been able to take on and its first year certainly isn't make or break. It's the very first year of the Eastport but comparing that viewership to see us go off OverWatch and Call of Duty viewership benchmarks should make for an interesting thought experiment once it happens.

Team Secret Cleans Up At Esports Awards

"Team secret for the e sports awards that i did not watch at all They one team of the year. They won player of the year which was nisha and coach of the year. Which is hain. is that all correct syndrome. Correct what do you think of that. So teamster again no. Ti this year and other other games have had the kind of their big tournaments some of them at least league for example but secret essentially winning the last. If you wanna take out the last few weeks has been seven plus money. I wanna say eight events in a row. Yeah seven months. They want everything just winning. Literally everything would you. I mean obviously our daughter bubble. So we're gonna agree right. The doda words everything. i would agree with. I don't know if i would put nietzsche's player of the year. I think it's hard to pick one. Yeah but he would definitely be one other candidates right. So i mean as it always is with these multi game award shows right. It's easy for us to say that these are great choices because we don't follow the other games that are part of it nearly as much to be honest with you. I don't even know which games are eligible to win in the sports category. If it's dodo leagues he has go rainbows. Six call of duty. Like i don't know what games are included in this is. It's hard to imagine another team in any game being as dominant the secret where this year. I think that's fair to say like you need to basically when everything right and not only that but the competition needs to be tougher which is unlikely once again because of corona because you know arguably secret even had a really tough region to play and while this was happening wasn't like it was just free easy wins because the region was week or something still tons of teams so it's super impressive I'm happy coaches got a bit more recognition so gretz to heen as well. I think he's really elevated this team to the next level they just started owning after he joined. I feel like it made a pretty big difference at least down the stretch Ceo good stuff. The thing about these awards shows though is. I don't know how much stock to put in the general. It's always cool for the teams to get recognition like this But i wish maybe it was a little bit more transparent a little more defiant. How we're going to segue into this next kind of mini topic of what do you think of award shows for e. sports in general because from my perspective i'm used to watching the oscars. I don't really watch a lot of other award shows at all but the oscars. I watch every single year. It's an event you know it's fun to watch. Even if i hate all of the movies which is sometimes the case that they just pick like the criteria just doesn't make sense to me sometimes like these artsy fartsy like movies will sometimes win for no reason. According to me but again like what criteria are they using. I don't know maybe you just don't have any taste. No that's definitely. I love in bruges. It's a great movie. Don't try to get out obligation. But what do you think from east perspective because when you look at the movies just as you know. Let's just do a one to one here. It's pretty clear. Even without knowing the exact criteria it's movies of this category but for east. There's just it feels like it's not as black and white. There's just so many different games. What is even considered an e sport. Technically speaking like. I don't even know the answer that question. That's the thing i mean. I guess the analogy of the comparison is really good though because in movies. There's also like it's super subjective. Right like what do you consider. A good movie is very different. From one person to the next head would be considered true. I suppose what it's defined as an eastport is a game that yeah but how many how big of a following doesn't need to have how significant to the price does need to be if i host a tournament in prague for one hundred bucks on eastport best escort because then then a lot of things could have won but now i i don't know what the criteria is and i think that's what we're probably agreeing on right now is that Maybe maybe are transparent about it. I just haven't seen it. I'm not saying that's not the case But yeah. I don't even know what sport is because like you said if it's just money than short that's anything could be in eastport if it needs to be x. amount of player base and have tournaments consistently running like whatever the case may be but either way. I like the idea of it. The fact that this is. I believe the fifth year in a row that their continued to do it is cool people show up to the event. There were ranked tuxes. They're trying to make it. That's where i don't like it. Actually they're trying to make it to. I don't know if mainstream is the right word but they're just trying too hard to copy everybody else like just let people show up in fucking sweatpants like were gamers man. Nobody wants to wear a goddamn suit. Unless you're a fucking psychopath syndrome okay. Being honest a lot of people do like dressing up on occasion. I think they don't like having to wear a uniform. It's like that all the time but for special occasions i think people like to do something extra like but honestly now that you it. I think it would be super cool if our award shows had people show up and team jerseys of their favorite team instead of in tuxes right. I think it'd be cool

LCS to Drop Spring and Summer Splits in Favor of One Long Season

"After covering the winners of worlds and the new look. elsie k. we learned. Thanks to reporting for travis stafford that the lcs is taking on a new structure as well as eastport has driven by two separate splits for years. The spring split has its own schedule and playoffs leading into msi and then the summer split starts over with a new record. A new regional playoffs at worlds for a long time. The league of legends community has critiqued. The spring split really doesn't matter that much and it looks like riot might agree frankly. It's also a little bit confusing to people who aren't in the league of legends world. The have two regular seasons with one world so rights changing instead of spring and summer it will be one long season a link travis's video underneath this episode. Here's a lot more information. I won't be able to fit into these two minutes. Midseason invitational or msi will still exist for the lcs. They'll just do a random spring tournament in the middle of the season to figure out which teams qualified as every other region is keeping the spring and summer splits. At least as far as we know right now it stands to reason that riot would test out this new structure with the lcs before making it a permanent structure of other regions in the future. They did something similar with a long term partnership franchising model as well. One thing we do know about this season according to travis is that teams will play more in the previous format teams. Play each other twice in summer twice spring but now they will play five matches against every other team that makes for forty five game season not counting the mid season tournament or playoffs. There's also apparently a preseason tournament according to travis but he didn't have any more details. I believe they're also revitalizing the amateur system with an upcoming third tier below in kademi level. In fact if you saw the cloud nine signing of a young player c nine. Ceo alluded to a new structure for underneath the lcs. Although wasn't entirely clear what he was talking about while fourteen year olds like the one cloud nine side can't compete in the lcs they may create special provisions for these amateur circuits and see just jumped the gun a bit to try and snatch up a young talent again all info in this podcast is source from travis and i encourage you to watch his video

Valve Passed on the Chance to Hold The International in Shanghai

"It presented by E Sports Network earlier this week. We covered the ti price full crossing a record forty million dollars as of right now. It's set to keep climbing until next July that did not have to be the case according to the co-founder of Chinese tournament platform MBA TV valve had the opportunity to hold TI and shanghaied. This fall right now world is happening in Shanghai in a bubble like an environment and so far it's gone off without a hitch according to this comment perfect world vowels partner in China was trying in Spring to move the international Shanghai so it could be held this year the plan had full support of the local Shanghai government as well. It seemed to be almost identical situation to what's happening for worlds right now. After that comment other important voices in Chinese Esports seconded, the claim valve has been taking a cautious approach to holding e sports events and that's fine and vacuum, but the issue is the competition's have not been replaced with online events. Like they've had for every other major Eastport everything Dota 2 has just been on indefinite hold since the pandemic started. That's led to many DOTA teens releasing their rosters. Welcome to come in competitions aren't up and running soon valves handling of the pandemic from a tournament organizer perspective has been critiqued by most of the DOTA community at this point. This is a game that has been primarily supported through one major event for years as League of Legends keeps growing and expanding DOTA has remained fairly stagnant with the poor handling of the situation. It could put the scene in a dangerous spot overall still if the boss a price quote continues its

Saudi Arabia to Host $500,000 Dota 2 League Tournament

"Next thing is also tournament related. This one came out of nowhere. I don't even know what to think so. The Saudi Federation for Electronic, an intellectual sports will be running a five hundred thousand dollar tournament I believe it was at two million ri-als which is equivalent to five hundred, thousand dollars. Between the months of October ninth and December thirty first. This is out of. So. I've obviously had some history Saudi Arabia you know having grown up there and whatnot. So I always have like this. I don't know if affinity is the right word but I root on people that are of Middle Eastern descent when they're playing because it's such a small minority, right? So like Is, basically, collect a collective of a bunch of Middle Eastern people. I don't know anybody like anybody that plays from Saudi Arabia I duNno Saudi Arabia even recognize owed to. Strange. So. So this tournament just to be clear is for Saudi. Arabian players only. Yeah. It's not for the Middle East in general and just called the Saudi Arabian leak. Like it doesn't. Article that we've read what the limitations are for entry. Does five, hundred thousand dollars professional teams of Saudi Arabia region region. Was the Saudi Arabia region as an Saudi Arabia or The middle region maybe it's a sad writing I don't know it. So it could mean a multiple think if it's Middle Eastern, they would have said Middle Eastern. But if it's Saudi Arabian, it could it could mean like some of the countries like around like you know like, Yemen or like Dubai, for example, is probably the most popular eastport area in that region. but I believe five hundred thousand dollars is split between Doda and two other games that they haven't announced yet. But either way that's a shit ton of money Fika? I think is one of them actually. But really out of nowhere. And very interesting. I'M GONNA keep my eye on this one for sure. So it says eight best professional teams of Saudi Arabia region will be competing in the first tournament of the event. So I'm guessing that's And Those eight teams of Saudi Arabia, who are they? What are the best teams in Saudi Arabia? Doda. If United Radio in players, there's not. Yeah I mean it's definitely not a top tier tournament by any means, but is it even to your three? No there's. Player quality I know. I'm trying to think about their some players that might be Saudi Arabia that actually immortal but I'm not sure if they are. I don't think so. It really doesn't sound familiar. So. You'd know better than me. But I've never heard of even one team being Saudi Arabian before so. Question is if these professional teams of Saudi Arabia are allowed to take place from the other regions? That's what I'm looking at here because I know quite a few players from the Middle East that are very high Mr. so if it wasn't Saudi only, you could see some familiar faces in this tournament like for example, offer Moosh or manage or of course. Some of the players from `Nigma if they got into this Yeah. But considering `Nigma haven't announced anything about it. We're going to they're not playing it either because they didn't choose to or because they weren't allowed to I want to say the country that's produced the most players that I've consistently heard of his Jordan would you agree with that from the middle of? The most players you've heard about yeah, which does China, but I don't know if the Middle East Oh. Yeah. For sure I Jordan is the hot spot forever, and that's not that far from Saudi. Arabia? So Yeah. So who who have you heard from Jordan? Miracle. Is One. WHO's the other guy? Might just two people honestly I yep. Sore and maybe there's words we're actually. But even three would be more than any other middle. Eastern. Region because what is G. H. is Lebanon. Lebanese and then. We is. Between Syrian Romanian I consider him Syrian but I know he doesn't because I actually didn't know I thought he was just Flat out the first time I talked with him. I knew he was Middle Eastern right away. Is based on his accent. But, yeah. But yeah, it's really cool to have players in that region and We'll see what the future holds. This is out of nowhere. So I don't know how to react honestly. No, it's been so little promoted. The fact that this article came out after the tournament began it's Kinda. Interesting I, don't know that's true. I forgot it was even October now Jesus. Yeah. The. Going in some capacity, but we just don't know the stretcher.

Flashpoint 2 Brings Top CSGO Teams Together this Fall

"Been a while probably too long because we talk. See Us go on the show today was announced the point. What are the two major CBS go competitions is returning for flash point to see. US Go has received more structure in the last two years than ever before really previously, the eastport consisted of major and minor tournaments held around the world with an informal world ranking being the biggest measure of overall success in two thousand, hundred. ESL. Created the Pro Tour in February of Twenty, twenty major sports, voices created flashpoint the goal is to give goes eastward seeing even more structure and they managed to hold the season despite the timing being about as poor as possible with the pandemic taking hold a month or so after the leak was announced and despite those pandemic related changes flashpoint was apparently a success at least enough to justify bringing it back flash boy to begin on October eighth with playing qualifiers the makeup addition we'll start. In, early November the playoffs and finals being held in the first week of December like season one flashpoint to we'll have a total prize of one million dollars with five hundred k. going to the overall winners. See Us go whereas at a tumultuous summer to say the least coaches from many of the top teams were found guilty of exploiting a bug to give their team and unfair advantage. The East Fourth Integrity coalition is still investigating with the attention to release a full report by the. End of October that could potentially pose problems for flashpoint if coaches are organizations are found guilty and they've already qualify for the flashpoint to seize it, it'll be interesting how they end up handling potentially difficult situation. Regardless flash was a good product even if it's only been able to be held online and see us go as a whole has been able to whether share of controversies in the past.

Where Things Stand Halfway Through Worlds 2020

"Week saw a flurry of new deals from heck's buying back optic to the over getting his third commissioner but the weekend went slow. There were a couple of big hirings and legends of Fruitarian, eastwards? Program but that's about it. Instead of business, there was world's the best eastwards competition of the year I'm not even a huge league of legends fan but world did something special last Friday I released a comprehensive breakdown, the plane stages. Ahead of the group stages, I had my brother Sam a diehard League of Legends Fan make his podcast to add more context and make some predictions through nearly half of group play his predictions have been surprisingly good. Here's a recap of where we're right now in group G to the European favorites and runners up last year. Worthy favourite. They're currently at two knows that's held true team liquid from is at Oh into which will be a trend that you'll notice the team from pcs and the tea from China are both at one and one with wins over liquid and losses to g to it looks like gt we'll take that top spot in Group A we'll try to soothing is still the favourite to get the second qualifying spot, but don't count out Macci eastport. Over in Group B played the most games and saves overall favourite for the event. Damn. One gaming is three and out they looked to be the best team in the field. Right now is the only one that's one all three of their matches being one of the teams played three Jd gaming is currently two and one you use rogue is one or two episodes championship series. PSG Talon is Owen three. Group sees careers gingy on top used fanatic and China's LG gaming or one in one while gingy sits up there at to an. And as Tsm is Oh, in to it hasn't been a good showing for an aide to say the least it's looking like right now it's unlikely any NATO mixed groups same also predicted that. Finally Group D China's tops's sports is to anno cary's DX is one in one and his fly quest is one one and the team. Dream, team, from Russia the UNICORNS of love is Owen to fly quest has as only win and it came against the Unicorns the only team that didn't come from one of the five major regions. That's not good if I had to rank the region order performance so far I'd have to put Korean number one. The region's overall record is six one across the three qualified teams. China is number two with fourteen putting up a record of six and three Europe's three teams have a record of four and three making them the third best region so far, and then this literally pains me. But Pacific Championship series gets four spot with a record of one in four over two teams. That's because they won the only head to head matchup with Macci's sportsbeat team liquid up in Group A. N.. A. Brings up the absolute rear not counting UNICORD's of love with three teams combining for a one five record. Again, the only Na win is against the team from Russia it's brutal out there. As for what comes next, we still have five more slates of group play Games these have them from ten pm eastern time to three M eastern time. That's one am to six amputee their game slated for Tuesday a break on Wednesday, and then every morning technically from Thursday to Sunday considering Sam's success I. Guess I'll have to have them come back on the show after group play we can go over predictions while we look ahead to the upcoming bracket play that's off

NC State Study Looks at Gender Disparity in College Esports

"We're looking at a paper published by an associate professor, any PhD student at North Carolina State University. The research appeared in the Journal critical studies on Mass Communication. The goal was to see if college is worth programs have been more successful at crecy gender representation. East sports than professional sports have there are a few women who compete at the highest levels of professional sports. Rockets Karma is well regarded player who has spent time in. Her stoldas women, when major tournaments it so as fortnight, but for dependent environment that doesn't have fiscal differences creating a gap between genders us for to still almost entirely male dominated Nick Taylor co-authored the study and associate professor of Communication at NC State said in the journal quote five years ago we thought collegiate sports might be an opportunity to create a welcoming diverse competitive arena which. Was a big deal given how male-dominated the professional eastward scene was rapid growth of collegiate sports over the past five years has led to it becoming more professional with many universities having paid eastwards, positions, recruiting players at so odd we wanted to see how that professionalization has affected collegiate sports and what that means for gender diversity. The findings did not give us reason to be optimistic. For this study naked, his Co author interviewed Twenty One people involved in these sports programs. Eight of the people are part of Varsity programs with the other thirteen being president of their schools. Collegiate East Sports Club six of the respondents identified as women fifteen identified as men PhD Student Bright Style, the other CO author of the study told the Journal. Quote essentially, we found that women are effectively pushed out of eastwards many colleges when they start investing financial resources in east, Sports Program we talk lease sports might help to address the disenfranchise women in eastport at engaging more generally instead, it seems to simply be an extension of that disenfranchisement and quote. While an interview of twenty, one people isn't a perfect encapsulation of the wide-ranging college. He's worth ecosystem, all twenty one or in key rules of big programs meaning they speak for quite a few more when it comes to gender disparity. College eastwards still have a chance to be a place where we can create more inclusive east sports environments, but `gate-keeping in Tuxes D- are still real problems that women face in the space without focused initiatives that disparity won't get much better.

Halo Championship Series Pivots Due to Pandemic

"I want Halo Sports back I think all of you probably want Halo eastport back how a top fight beloved game only a decade ago has fallen so far out of public perception is a travesty. Well. Somebody players are invested in bringing it back. They've had to pivot due to the coronavirus the halo championship series or h was begging lot on the release of Halo Infinite but halo infinite was just delayed to twenty twenty one due to the virus. Now, the is still want to get some competition out there but they definitely are on the level of what we were hoping with infinite today. The HCC announced the halo five pro series between September twenty six and mid December the will host a combination of open professional tournaments culminating with four season. Championships, the is still operating the master chief collection, pro series or MTC pro series as well, but those games being played in Halo Three. This new series we played, in Halo, five as you may have guessed in this press release the ATS. Also said they're increasing weekly prizes for the MCC from five hundred dollars to one thousand dollars. If that doesn't sound like a ton, it's because it's not he'll has an eastward has fallen far from when it stood in direct competition to call duty mini are hoping for return and the ATS is the closest. Thing, we have the halo five pro series will have total prizes of sixty three thousand dollars that's split across four regions. The release of Halo. Incident was also going to bring East sports engine created by longtime eastwards, veterans, atom up Selah and Ryan. Thompson engine posts, a wide variety of eastwards partners including the call of Duty League, and plenty of the franchise partners of Activism Blizzards Eastport Sports Leagues Right now, the Halo five pro series and the MCC pro series are mostly place holders to keep longtime halo fans with some content if halo is returning. To a place among eastward top titles, it's going to happen with eastwards engine and halo infant but we're going to have to wait till twenty twenty one to see if that can become a reality

Turning video game tech into accessible tools

"Why can't we just or Wilshire up to an XBOX and play it? Why can't we just drive up and be able to control a drone in the sky or vehicle, and that's where this adapter that we developed. The freedom link came from is orthopedic. And Bill Binko Co. and a lot of people who are in those medical spaces have been saying to us for awhile you should be able to take these highly specialized highly customized devices that make ends of hours in order to put together thousands of dollars and just use them on different algae without having to reinvent the wheel every single. Let's talk about e sports a bit obviously. Sports are increasingly popular. Are there tools that maybe some of these competitive game players are using to get an edge that then could funnel in to accessibility technology even for non? Gamers. Lot of items that are not intended for the. Community that end up working out just great For example, this ord is the latest and greatest in audio technology everybody who's a Gamer everyone who's a player as a discord account and this just a program you put on your phone in order to play in talk to each other during the Games. But now people use it for interviews I use scored more often than I use zoom these days. So Zuma's just inherently inaccessible. I use a program called Dragon Naturally. Speaking to be able to type. So if I'm you the call in Zoom, it beauts my entire computer. So therefore, I am Mel rendered completely unable to communicate with anyone else while that's muted. So that's why programs like this corridor better because they've already fought about accessibility and have included it where you know plays, legs zoom still have some catching up to do you know there's there's things like, for example, one of my most recommended a trawlers is called a track I. Are Right and it's a controller where you put a hat on your head with a little infrared cliff and there's a camera that sits on top the your monitor and when you move your head around down left right it can see that and it was originally intended to be art of Microsoft flight simulator. So you can look around the cockpit of an airplane like pretty down there but we discovered that you can use that same technology and make you keyboard inputs so. That now I can hear letters with just moving my head and that allows you to games. So what you're constantly doing if you're a disabled is re purposing and re engineering things so that they can be used in everyday settings. So maybe there is a controller that can push three buttons at the same time, and in fact, there are and you can use these in eastwards if they let you now not every eastport allows you to do this kind of thing. There are oftentimes where they consider this against the rules it's cheating etc etc, and there really hasn't yet been an opportunity for years with disabilities to really get into eastwards arena and you know that's one of those projects that we continue to work on his hottest work out could aren't we make it fair for people with disabilities play while at the same time, not giving a superior edged people who are already very, very good with a standard controller. So you know, it's just a matter of working out the fairness and figuring out eastwards fits in the disability community. But that brings up the point that accessibility in gaming is more than just about playing the video game itself. Absolutely. Yeah. you know we always say gamers is that it's just an attempt to allow people to have that way to on that social isolation though inside charities mission purpose is on vessel isolation, foster inclusive communities, and improve the quality of life for people with disabilities, and we do that like connecting you to other human beings, your family members, your friends, your community you can get back out into that and not be alone. Using video games and you know some people will be like, oh, video games are not important or I'm not a Gamer I. Don't WanNa I. Don't WanNa play. It's like we're trying to explain but this is just the tool they were using. It's like your car, right so you may not care about what you drive, but you just need a tool to get you from your house do hanging out with your friends and that's the same thing. The video games can do. We can get you to an area where you have a purpose of going in providing or your guild mates and and having that real sense of purpose. Gamers was really fortunate a few years ago to work with Walter Reed Army Hospital, and we were able to find that in instances where someone is coming back and they have had an injury that they were more than eighty percent less likely to consider self harm. If they had that close knit units the same experience of being over there with their army units. Over here in video. "While the podcast. So we're going to be breaking down this deal for both perspectives. It see how the cookie crumbles really what it comes down to how these deals habit. You see all the headlights you see the products being worn by the players Orga dive into really the steps that lead up to the creation of a brand deal like this one. So starting out from the early stages which side reach out I was JBL. Making the step over to one hundred thieves or one hundred thieves reaching out to jbl. Do you guys remember? I'm pretty sure we were the ones that initiated the contact. Through an agency that we're working with at the time to help us to grab craft our approach to to exports into gaming in general. So I i. think we were the first ones to to to. To Extend the hand. Absolutely, Jacob, do you remember when those conversations started and the energy was like a as you reached out? I can only imagine the seems like a trend that's happened this year of these really log running brands enter eastward seeing that with Herman. Miller. For example, in the complexity partnership, you've got a brand that well out dates video games, much less e sports getting into the space promising. Hey, we've got this great product that's been used by all these other industries, and now we want to be involved in East Sports Michael From your perspective. Why was J B L A natural fit for East? Sports. So I I think to to answer that it was. We were looking at this more as a great fit for gaming and where we think gaming is is going in the future if you take a look at how the graphics within the game have evolved over the last fifteen or twenty years like. It has grown in leaps and bounds, and so the realism that's now. Prevalent in President Gains. Really helps to create the super immersive experience for Gamers and we felt like sound was a piece that was that was lagging in that equation. And so our whole idea was we want the gamers actually be able to hear the game in the same way that they see it. and. When we identified that as a need in space, that's when we knew it was time for us to actually enter. We didn't want to be just another brand that said, hey, gaming. It looks cool. Let's do that. We wanted to make sure that we're actually bringing something new table and and actually you know solving a need that we thought consumers gaming space might have. And that was really the whole impetus for US designed to get into gaming. Absolutely in every game knows how important audio is you mentioned how graphics approving well, sow does it prove it as well especially in the battle royale? Sowed is so important you've three hundred, sixty degree view. There's always people either above below at identified where they are and reacting to it is becoming an increasingly important part of being successful in eastport. Jacob you of a background is professional player. Could you talk about how audio matters especially at the highest levels of water video game? Yeah. Absolutely like you mentioned the. But I think The. The shooter Genre in general audio is one of the most primary importance of of of performance ride. So when we first started this conversation, it aligned sort of when we. Just picked up our counter strike team as well. both counterstrike fortnight now valor and call of duty call everything right sound. So very pivotal to to play performance. So as one of the the first conversations that I remember having was making sure that whoever we partnered with on the audio category, it would be a product that we were excited to use them that all of our. Players get behind and use on a daily basis because of how how big of an importance it has on the products on performance site So it was very reassuring. I remember Maddie from from team coming into the conversation saying listen it's got it's going to be jpl I'm really excited about this what are your concerns here because mostly on the performance side without teams and so Speaking on behalf of all of our players and going into the competitions it's important that we have You know state of the OPS. Hardware. When when we playing whether that's mountain. audio. Absolutely, you're only as good as your equipment. Well, that's a lie could be better than your equipment plenty of types, but at the highest level, those little those little differences really make a big deal. Michael

"Quake on. . Obviously didn't happen this year. . It was at home quite con at home is what they were calling it. . Real creative and I'll say this hats off to quite con because I was in their discord and participated on in like the little antics and everything that they did <hes> through dischord and twitter and things like that. . It was actually like a legit good time. . They didn't just throw it like in the towel and say. . We're going to do a stream will show some new doom thing and elder scrolls online announcement and okay, , that's it. . We'll see you guys next year. . You know like kind easily just been a bunch of Tech Demos and it still people probably would have been happy ultimate, , right. . Content but it's nice that they went like above and beyond to make an experience. . Yeah. . Because quite constant around a quake con has been around long enough to where if you've been it's I mean it's cool. . Don't get me wrong like it's the setup is bad ass and it's definitely like a celebration of like doom and quake and fall out like the pathet staples <hes>. . Elder scrolls, , things like that. . But I think it's definitely like comparing it to dream Hack is a little bit more homegrown community vibe to it. . It's not as corporate. . The people that are going to quite con have been going for the last ten years. . You know like quake <unk> built that community of I think the same people are going to grapevine obviously new attendees coming go right there's always <unk> out traffic but I think the quake to me feels more of A. . Family style experience in a lot of these people know each other dream Hack is more like entertainment rights. . So you don't have a lot of new faces every single year it feels like <hes>. . So it was nice that they took care of their own in the sense like you you wanted to to make them feel special and I think they got so many people just involved this which was awesome. . Yes. . I actually had a lot of fun now of course. . With quake CON COMES MY. . Annual pilgrimage to quake champions. . I've been playing the game since closed Beta. . And I shit you not. . It's like every time quake conroy around I'm like damn. . I'm feeling it I WANNA, , play some quake. . I'm I'm feeling it. . Then I'll play I'm like, , Damn this is a lot of fun why why did I stop playing and then I stopped playing like two weeks later I did play some quake this weekend. So . did you I'm going to stick with it? ? It's it won't be like my main game. . I don't have a main game anymore. . anyways. . But I think all all dip my toe in the water here and there it's it's a it's a classic game. . You can't beat it. . It's one of those games you keep installed right 'cause you can never. . You can never beat the joy of playing civil quick game right as especially as an older game to have the ability to jump into something. . That's like ten minutes or less at times pretty bad, , ass. . That's a big positive for big part for us but yeah, it's , it's. . It's a fun free-flowing game, , right like for people that have grown up with those style of games that field there's something about it like you get the movement going <hes> it is just you get that direct. . Let me tell you what if we have to rank like top ten feelings in a video game like EA sports related I don't know the list maybe this is like a throwaway topic for future episodes. . So write it down folks but a direct rocket hit. . In quake has to be on that list it really does. . Just. . That feeling of getting that direct rocket is just it's it's pure bliss. . You feel the punch in. . makes it makes a different kind of field. . Yeah. . Yeah. I . don't know where it's on the top ten, , but it's gotta be on the top ten for sure.

One of the Biggest Tekken Tournaments of All Time Never Paid Anyone

"Well over a year ago in March of two, thousand and nineteen, a series of East sports events were held in Khobar Saudi, Arabia including. The True Gaming Tekken invitational this single tournament featured a prize of one hundred, ten thousand dollars USD, which was then the single largest prize pool in taking history for a little context, the two thousand eighteen technical tour finals at a prize pool of Twenty Five K. and Evokes Tekken Prize. Pools are even lower than that and heavy hitters from around the world came to participate. In this thing, I'm talking to likes of Don's knee Chanel. Roma. Are Slash you get the picture from a production standpoint the true gaming tech invitational grave they had an awesome stage set up the stream quality was good. The had commentator and analyst desk great camerawork was clean and in terms of the actual game play competitively, the tournament was great i. mean we saw some of the best players of all time from all around the world give us some unforgettable moments. But after all that confetti was cleaned up after the stage was dismantled in after the community's attention shifted to other events there remained one big problem. Apparently nobody paid. Now this all hit the public's attention in a big way only recently when tech master provident fighting game player and one of the invitees to the gaming tech invitational tweeted about not receiving his prize money from a different event that was organized by the same people. Now, as far as the true gaming tech invitational goes the one with one hundred, Thousand Dollar Prize Pool I talked to tech and master about it, and he said that communication between the players who are owed money in the company who produced the event true gaming hasn't exactly been productive when it comes to when how or infant if they'll get their prize after one month. A number to contact with and every time the new right it's. Like on the process of giving you the process guys. we'd be coming back to you on. Data to and every time like the guy is saying, he did not receive any funding for the first. He's promised to receive it a next month. Don't want everytime delays rate rate until. One year happened instead even. One year under half extra. Here's the thing though true gaming say that they were hired just to produce the event and that the prize money has nothing to do with them at all I managed to get in contact with a guy named a Med almost STAFA. Who is the head of business development at true gaming and he says that the true gaming tech invitatinal took place within a larger event called. Gamers con. He told me that the owner operator of that event, a company called. Tail Events Exhibitions Management Co is responsible for the prize money we correspond over email about it and let me read to you what he told me quote true gaming's role in the event was to operate the competitions and gaming centered activities that have relied on our gaming industry knowledge and know-how. Our team has been contacted by the winners and his forwarded their grievances to k all A and have shared all contact information directly Takeo so that there is a direct. Line of communication and no delay caused by layered communications in the later email he also told me quote we've tried to finalize this matter on numerous occasions. We were even under the impression that it was going to conclude a sooner time and we are completely taken aback by how all have. Let this drag on for so long and quote worth noting here that shortly after I got in contact with gaming, they released a public statement about the matter that was. Very much in line with what they told me privately as far as this K- All events exhibitions management company goes that's where the trail goes a little cold for me I tried calling them with a number on their website and for me it didn't work I tried tweeting out I've emailed them and I tried to use a contact form on their website that is broken apparently so far as of the filming of this video I haven't heard anything back from them. Hubbert. Ladies Tom. Blood I can mean a look at a High Horse Shukran your call cannot be completed as dialed. Please make sure you enter the correct number. It's probably also worth noting here that there were a bunch of other invitational tournaments that took place on the same weekend within this gamers con that we're all organized by true gaming there was rocket league invitational. There was a beep invitation on their Mash Bros invitation and like I said, they were all organized by true gaming who seem to be a company who do everything from eastport centric youtube videos to mainstream game reviews to event production. Now, let's just back up for a quick second. Because there are other entities involved in this issue beyond just the players true gaming and this K- All events and Exhibitions Management Company, and I'm talking about agencies for the Saudi Arabian government see according to Tech and master about six months after the event when it became clear that they weren't going to get their prize money anytime soon, a lot of deep participants in the gaming, Tech. Invitational. Got Together an organized to try to figure out what their next steps they went to a guy who goes by the tag burke came and he contacted to Saudi Arabian government agencies namely, the General Entertainment Authority in Saudi Arabia and more pointedly. The Saudi Arabian Federation for Electric Intellectual Sports see the true gaming invitational had to be sanctioned by these bodies in order to put on their event in the first place and as to who this Berkane guy is. He is a Saudi Arabian eastport seen community leader and individual player manager who has served as a sort of go between between the players, the T os, and the government agencies that oversee East sports in Saudi Arabia and he told me that he's been in contact with those government agencies and they are actively investigating this situation. As we speak I have conducted the federation on behalf of some of the players and they. Did investigate the issue and I believe they have officially contacted all the parties involved in this case on soon, they would return resolve at least from where I'm sitting it's not going to be easy to figure out who's actually on the hook for this money according to Tech Master Burt. CAIN and some other folks I spoke to nobody actually signed any kind of contract or documentation that stipulated how when or I guess technically even if they would get paid out this prize money according to Burke Cain East sports in Saudi Arabia is still very much in a phase where contracts are not the standard sports itself and Saudi is still new. and. It started based on community efforts where almost everything was based on trust. That moved along when he sports stuff to grow on many companies started to throw big huge ovens. Everyone trusts what's being advertised after all the low in Saudi will hold you accountable for what you advertise. Let's say trust is what? being practiced here in Saudi I do believe that should change and perhaps tap. Last year will rise the awareness in the community

"Legends, world seemed to be cancelled, and then suddenly it wasn't I'm dreams, and so the sports minute presented by East Sports Network, China announced that they cancelled all international sporting events through twenty twenty, at first, that seemed likely to include the of legends. World's scheduled to be held in Shanghai this fall, but according to ESPN that decision will not affect leave legends. The plants implement a bubble system where all teams and some select media operation staff enter a closed ecosystem. At that point, no one's allowed in or out until the competition finished. It's a similar system to the one being used by the NBA to get it. Season finished as with anything this pandemic. There's no precedent or guaranteed. This type of format will actually work. The original plans for world, which is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year to be held across six cities this fall, according to ESPN new plans to implement the bubble this year and then run with the city tournament in two. Thousand Twenty, one So. What does this mean for the tournament? It's quite complicated and no one really knows. The viruses have various levels of contaminant across the world with the US having the most cases right now. Many countries have put a temporary ban on US travelers until we get things better under control. China at one point ravaged by the disease is down to reporting single digit new cases. Every day now eastport sites don't even count Chinese viewership for events because we have no independent corroboration so I'm certainly not taking those numbers as perfect fact, but it is clear. That China has a better handle on the disease than we do here. In Europe, many countries are also reporting very few new cases after massive spikes in April. A lock can change a few months, but there is a realistic possibility that LCS teams will not be able to compete in world this year if something doesn't change soon across the states. In addition, the bubble format is not fleshed out, either it's only goes wrong with the NBA's attempt begins on July thirtieth there's a possibility we see. World canceled outright. That still hasn't been ruled out yet.

Everything you need to know about the launch of Valorant

"We talk a lot about the new game Valerie incident official gamers have been retiring to go play Valentine's but one of the most viewed games on twitch while still in beta well now it is finally out of beta and available for all to play but its launch week wasn't looking so good we're beard what's going on with Valerie man so Valerie is finally out of beta it is currently almost half up its the you can't play competitively on Valerie right now it's only on competitive matches what don't think that that might is is one of the things may be contributing to people not playing it as much a little bit but here's the thing this is the first chance that people have to buy all download it right like the beta had a lot of people playing it but is still closed beta right just by virtue of what it is there's the liking of the stream numbers got so far up there because people have to watch somebody playing the game in order to get the invite to get the access to the beta yes and so then what then happened is they they launched on June second which was a I Tuesday and the problem is they did it on the same day that that social media blackout in solidarity with black lives matter while and I definitely didn't help and so what happened is there was a lot of people A. off social media be a lot of large streamers like Dr disrespect a ninja and made shot and all these different guys who just worked streaming at all but then yes like the lack of competitiveness the competitive mode is just tough at the moment and it's it's the biggest thing is you can go and see the general temperature of how people feel about the game by going to Metacritic right now the average score on Metacritic for this game is twenty six out of a hundred so yeah it's very low it's been kind of slaughtered like they you know they they really have been dipping into two pools during the the beta this the counterstrike go players and the overwatch players right and it seems like they haven't done a great job yet according to it you know like popular consensus of of winning over either of those you know I mean I I think one of the other issues you look at two is there were so many people that were able to play the beta if they watch long enough right that I got to be that you know I think that a lot of people have made up their mind already you know Jake Lyon casting the overwatch league you know I do a show with the L. S. as he took the check might be dot com plug you know he said he basically did his placement in the beta and he's like you know those those fibers are really my game he's done with it now right I think a lot of people got excited and caught up in a just a new game the bait is out I really want to get I don't be left behind my friends are playing and if they're still in there still and that's great you know looking right now it's which one two three four five it's a seven game wins the game ninety one point seven K. yeah that's not bad right but even you know stuff like minecraft counterstrike call of duty four night grand about a fiver still beating it out but I think you're at the point now where the beta that what is your big reveal that was a big numbers I know that now the game is officially live but people are already decided if they like it or not I what's weird to me is like if you've been following any of the professional E. sports organizations they're all announcing teams they just announced he go who used to be a counterstrike god who's now going over and starting he's the team captain for a hundred thieves it died team T. ten they just announced two different teams there is another I. Janji announced a team but like to be fair landing for the future right because the fact that riot first of all they know how to do E. sports like league of legends is the most profitable Eastport right now like they operated in the black for a long or sorry in the red for a long time the faces are making profits with it citing the people are looking at Valerie and they want in on the ground floor and it's gonna take some investment and that's gonna take some trust in Ryan in in this game and some investing in the long term James a delay do you think that it's going to be able to survive because in my opinion I don't know if if they don't start out of the gate strong if they're going to be able to keep their head above water long term I would like to think that the bills survived but I mean I've I feel like I'm not in a position to speak to that but I do have a question I'm kind of confused so you're saying this is not available for competitive play meaning like that you can't queue up and had to be ranked rank system yet right right so used to playing in the with the winner five it doesn't matter it doesn't matter you know you're not really playing for anything why are they still put out this team's making his team just practice I did I didn't get I think like Robbie said to get ahead of the ready yeah get ready for it in there and there are still you know independent tournaments that are going on there's just no there's no way that you James could log on and play competitively in be ranked anything like that right but there are still tournaments that are happening were obviously you know there's prize pools and stuff into it like that so this still competitive play involved but nothing officially like rain through nothing decade actual players can get it was the one thing I was kind of confused about yeah I mean honestly I don't I don't think that that is terrible right I I think that the people are putting too much stock in only on its live in no one's playing as much as they were in the beta well of course not the beta was hype you know they were bots trying to farm keys was also inflated but when you look at where it's sitting compared to other games it's doing fine I don't think there's any way to fix the sevens game I've right it'll still survive survive forever I don't know will be as big as legal legends R. sum was other games that people are watching the plane it might not hit those milestones but I feel like it's going to have a little longevity for awhile especially people all these pro gamers that are leaving their their actual game they have to do it for that yeah there's gonna be some behind it is still gonna have some sort of a a life behind every surveillance not having the best first

Mina Kimes Reporting on eSports

"Done a lot of long form sports journalism which I've read you know Aaron Rodgers Luca Donncha h And then you did these amazing stories about Korean e sports and Korean bad flipping the first eastport story. I wrote for ESPN. The magazine was at believe in two thousand fifteen and it was about a nineteen year old Korean kid named faker. That's his Gamertag. thrilling Who was the Best League of LEGENDS PLAYER IN THE WORLD? Then I WANNA say a couple of years later. I wrote another sports story about a girl named Gay Gurry in Korea who played overwatch plays overwatch. Who was so good. People thought she was treating the final story. Hope final but I also went to Korea And spent some time there to write about Korean baseball in particular to try to understand why Korean baseball players have such glorious and prolific backflips. Y Y Y Korean stories. When did you start doing them? Well they were total boondoggles. Because I got to go to Korea three times and see my family members on. Espn excellent stories. We're bringing them actually so it is a One of them. Yes so the first eastport story I did was in two thousand fifteen we as a company had not been covering sports before then And they by they I mean the editors Kinda came to me and they said well. We would like to do a feature about this. We're doing an issue. Can you tell us who to write about? Whatever you know. It's your choice. So that wasn't my idea to write about any sports so I spent like a week or so just re which I had the luxury to do as a features writer and I know is very luxurious to actually just kind of learned about the space and figure out what would work and video games or an at all. I didn't play a lot. You have to be like such an authority in so many different spaces within sports to add e- sports to that expertise driven it is but it's different because as a features writer it's very different from being an analyst like you're actually don't have to be an expert you just have to do the research right like in the process of doing that story. Nobody would expect me to have theories about Strategy Games Raji or you know. Be opinionated about that. They expect me to talk to people who are smart and trust them and synthesize that information anyways. I there were few American English articles about gaming couple features. Really hasn't been a lot and Every time I would read these articles they'd be about like a North American team whether it was legal legends. Which is the game ended up writing about? And then there'd always be a line in the story where the Koreans would just show up and kick their ass so I went back to ESPN. And I was like I think I should write about Koreans and then from there. I found out this one kid in particular was the best so yeah I kind of just my approach was to just write about it like we would write about a young Lebron or any other prodigy. I suppose in sports. Ns gamers name is gig ARY This is fake story before. Yeah so I learned all about the various tensions because the future's all about finding tensions and and that's what drives the story a good story but all the tensions associated with Gaming and Korea Crean Culture. I mean I was very interested. Not only okay. Who is this kid? Why so good but why are Koreans in particular so good at this? You know. You're not born with gaming gene? So I I think the socio economic and cultural reasons to me were as fascinating as anything else. So that that's how I ended up in Korea. Parker Kligerman on Year 2 as a team owner in the eNASCAR iRacing Coca-Cola Series

"Parker is a co- team owner in the NASCAR COCA COLA. I racing series. I get that right. Okay year two for Burton Triggerman East sports and we had Parker on last year as somewhat of an eye racing primer NASCAR. Miracle was broadcasting a few of the I. Racing Races last year. We did the finale which was tremendously well received. All of the races were well received on. Nbc talked about like what it all means with you before Parker. This time we wanted to have you on to talk about year two for your team because you guys have not only. Have you WANNA race already this year through two races as we speak here today you already had a win from Ashton crowder in the Fontana race. You've also got some big news with sponsorships and everything happening in your too. So tell us what's going on for Burton. Click armony sports. Yes so first of all start. In the series the series on coca-cola's title sponsor peak left peak any freeze. And they'd been part of it for years and I think the the trajectory the series and things and how they building sports it opened up and up to pursue cocoa that come in so that was really cool as big name to put on top of the series this year we have twenty teams so the full team rosters filled out this year whereas last year round sixteen teams so there's only twenty teams allowed. We filled it out and for burnt. Cuckney sports. We actually brought in our first corporate partner of this magnitude valvoline which was incredible. It worked on it for months. The reason they came into his they'd obviously east. Sports is a big topic. These days that sort of thing and I had a little bit relationship with them beforehand and this came about and I'd always been a big fan of Abilene cars growing up. How good they look the pace keys or anything and it would be so cool to have those as our cars essentially look just like the Mark Martin number six. Yeah we did like a little vs flying vs. I call them okay. We're all the visa and going up and that was kind of our spin on it a little bit in the eastport realm so really cool. They've been great work with and just a lot of fun and they really are seeing the benefits and and kind of become fans of as well and then we went out and won the second race two seasons Ashen crowder. We lead the most laps between both drivers. Clampitt led a ton of beginning. He and four she got involved in a wreck and then Ashen kind of took. The reins and in an incredible dual won the race and that was just huge. So we're now tied for the point seat. Although we get the points lead off the with Ashenafi Tiebreaker having a win and in the team championship or fourth. So it's been a great start for us really cool for the series and the viewership. This year has been insane across tweets. Youtube NASCAR ADT COM and facebook. The first Jewish this season have adverse around one hundred eighty thousand people tune in life. That's The craziest statistic to me but people will break down the numbers or shocked by is the average time person views for so you know the Internet unlike. Tv. There's a lot of calculation can be done per each viewer and you often find yourself. Sort of like across the different streamed stream entities finding that they all read it differently but one of the things that really sticks out across all the retention time. And so we've seen average viewers nineteen minutes per viewer Twenty minutes thirty minutes so in the Internet world that like that will be. That's like I mean. I know from working for a website. It's not just website traffic or page views. It's how long are they reading the page? So after on watching twenty minutes of Iras. That's is that something you could have valvoline with and say this. And they say their eye popping numbers yes. We put a whole report together after each race and sort of to give some sort of numbers all this because I was actually a conference in London couple weeks ago about East sports and sky. Who's believe these? Cfo of the largest eastward teams in the world said eighty seven point six percent of all artistic in east sports or made up and facts. So you can put concrete numbers to it. It's a great thing and we've been able to do that. So it's been wrinkled who said it was fabricated He he works for fanatic which is one of the largest export teams in the world. It was basically a joke to say it. So it's the wild west and I actually think what were doing one of the things I know. It says in our logo in our team name. I don't even like the word East sports anymore because I kind of think of traditional sports trying to do something different were Imo Schwartz. Were trying to help a sport or exists bill the base and gain a new audience and be exposed to people that can never be exposed to it on the competitive level. What they're trying to do in really sports shooters they're trying to make the next Nascar the next NFL. We're not trying to do that. So as you mentioned two cars Logan Clampitt in the number ninety nine valvoline Ashton crowder and the number seventy seven valvoline. Just curious obviously ninety nine. That was Burton's now. When he drove up seventy seven is that it was my number and Arka- And I've always had a thing for sevens and it comes from my grandpa who was his favorite number seven successful years of always been car at seven. Seventy seven a number in a lot to me and both of these guys are obviously like. Hey you guys actually drove in the NASCAR Cup series. Take whatever numbers. You're doing well as team. We own those numbers so just like real life our numbers we own them so if we changed drivers but they're in for full year then it would keep the number

"Maybe how often we're told it's popular. I think some of it also is just e sports. Audience who sort of used to a specific kind of competitive game becoming popular a game with specific constraints in an understood understood meta like we were talking about and fortnight is so different from that in so many ways and i mean battle royale in general have become popular but i feel like geez the more easily understood or at least was at first in some ways although there were certainly some difficulties in figuring out how to make it work as a watchable competitive game but four night is almost designed designed to be watchable i in a competitive game second in some ways like changes to it are based on making the game feel exciting and then sort of balancing after the fact and it moves so quickly and it's very like move fast break things in terms of how the game seems to operate and that's very different from the way that other sports work and then also the fact that the audience for it is so young and the streamers who stream it just i don't know the whole vibe of fortnight has has this sort of weird. G. rated vibe that a lot of sports doesn't have that. I think makes other people in eastport kind of be like. Are we allowed to claim this as being an east sport like i remember when ninjas i doing super well. There are a bunch of editorials in east parts that were like this is proof that eastport successful but those editorials were framed in a weird way favor people are like are we allowed to say that ninja is east sports because he's not necessarily the top fortnight player in the world. He's just the most popular streamer in in the world. Which isn't the same thing and i don't know just interesting to me. Yes it does the east sports establishment and hate for. I don't think they would ever admit at that but i do think there's an interesting tension there. I'll put it that way. There's also you know e sports. Kind of struggles like there are a lot of we're a lot of kudaka readers at least when i was there who would struggle with e. Sports like to engage with it or to seem like the you know it wasn't really their thing and i get the sense that a lot of people who don't care that much about east parts also are turned off by fortnight right. I think maybe part of it and this this is maybe a little galaxy brain but i think also like relates to the epic game store stuff which is as you know increasingly becoming this like really serious thing. That's like becoming this major flash point for some people. I land where you're going with this. We'll so i think so epic has kind of i guess you could say taking the popularity.

"Have cash prizes. You can't do that for you can't play for cash prizes within the instable lay. That wouldn't be allowed. So the money would have presumably you'd have this. Well, yeah. Presumably, it'd be the same way you do with any other sport. Right. You right. You accept your scholarship. That's that's basically the equivalent of of, you know, the money you'd be making elsewhere, which obviously it isn't. But you'd have to you'd have to forfeit your ability to compete in anything that would be paid. But I also think that it's a an interesting line to be in for east sports players because I've often equated part of this. You know that I'm I'm an east sports believer in the future. But I've also acquitted part of this at times to the concept of there was a period where if you went. To your parents and said, I'm going to be a professional poker player. Everybody will choose like. Well, you can't do that. Well, let's also note that they never started giving out scholarships for professional poker players. I mean, there has to come some line where especially when you're in a when when your sport if you're an Eastport person when you're doing that, you're basically training yourself, and you're getting greatest game meeting some of them have teachers, but you're not doing that an institute of higher learning. So the institute of higher learning has very little to do with their development. And then on top of that the institute a higher learning doesn't have a clear path Pat to make profit on it. So I I don't really see where the relationship has to exist between the NCW like this is one of those moments where it's go get your business degree and be an east side. Well, no, the thing I would say about that. Is that it if there is no natural connection between football and higher learning. Right. The reason that it exists in the way that it does is because it does provide a ton of money for the school. These e gaming tournaments and everything else these streaming sites. They do come up with a whole lot of money. So if. The NC double A can find a way to make that money for for the school, that's competing. They'll be in heartbeat. Why would the kids be like my thing is like at this point at the same reason that an athlete is because maybe they need that institution. Maybe there's more to be gained from that institution. Not just in academics. And the ability to get a scholarship and go to classes, but also in the way that maybe being a part of that larger umbrella is more like financially sound for them than independently under tournaments, and I just wonder if in today's world if football were in the situation where it was coming to the NC double A and saying embrace us or we'll sell ourselves. I wonder those players would really opposite spot with football right now. We're actually saying you'd probably be better off if you weren't depending on them because you could make your money, and I wonder if Eastport especially because the entrepreneurial spirit of many of the sports athletes. I just I wonder how this is going to play out. We just don't know the business plan an independent how good you are. Right. Because you know, you've got like, you know, the guys. That are making eight hundred thousand dollars a month playing on twitch. They're not going to go to college. Right. So it's probably more people who want that balance. Right. They have they have an affinity for it. They have a skill at it. And they also are someone who has an interest in being on the programming side, or you know, or or anything completely unrelated, they wanna get a great education, and they're also really good at this might be something that they're going to do alone. They want to do it on the side along with whatever else they wanna study. Well, if there's anything we've learned over the course of time with the delay is that they're slow to modernize in basically, everything right? Like, we don't think of the NCW is being trendsetters in most ways. So it's hard to ask them to suddenly trend set on east ports. If it just feels like this is one of those things that we're going to watch both sides of this dance while he's sports athletes as a whole figure out if they can make money elsewhere and colleges figure out if there's any profit for and then if there is then they'll find some way to get into it..

"Some players from L L C K two. They had a decent season. I'm not saying they didn't get better. I'm just saying I don't know that they got that much better. Number four is gonna be one hundred thieves about where they kind of last chance seems about right number three team solo mid up from there. I believe fifth or sixth finished last year. Number two, cloud nine no one's who've surprised there and number one. They only got better in my opinion team liquid top force pretty solid. I my top ten. One hundred. And here's why this listing because you're like, the top four is pretty solid and to be honest five through ten no one knows Joan over the difference. Eastport best. I don't care if it's ESPN or us. We don't know all mishmash after that. You don't know who's going to be good coming off. I am for a firmly believed that team liquid in cloud. I are that much better. Oh, yeah. No, no. No, no. Yeah. The top four placements seems very very solid. But there's one question that I have here. And that is unlike OWI L who's adding new teams onto their roster this year, there are no new teams in this new Caesar of ten do you think that that's good or bad thing? I say, so here's the thing with O W L being a very new Eastport. And also being the first to really take that regional approach. It makes all the sense in the world for them to expand and bringing new cities league of legends doesn't have that whole regional thing. You don't have teams based out of cities really they kind of went with that idea. But really not their regional system is far more robust. So in in like European region. You have we don't have the franchise out. Exactly. Whereas in wwl you only have a smattering of two or three teams right this season. But the bigger question is if they went to that model and expanding. Who would they add? We already talked about the gap between the top and the bottom me. He's sports. Very good. Does that do mortgages further dilute the product, I think overall, I'm happy that are else. Yes. Chose not to expand. I just think when you don't have the city tied to the front of it. It really doesn't matter that much all we want to know is if we can beat L.

And this is part of the you know, like the fact that fortnight is so sandbox he is cool from a play gameplay personnel. The viable Eastport to have to be locked in rules that don't chain thoroughly agree selfish, checkpoint. XP sports gaming update for more head on over to our website, checkpoint XP dot com. Thanks for the update. By now, almost everyone is heard about the explosive growth in the east boards market. Financial watchers are now predicting a market correction in the future, which can certainly sound a little scary. Yeah. This is something that we've been seeing people talk about all week is this idea that the market is going to start correcting itself. Like there's been too much investment without enough growth in viewership not to be clear. No one's talking about like a bubble situation or anything like that. That'd be responsible. In fact, most people are saying that east sports has succeeded in establishing itself in kind of a long-term mindset it's gotten to that point now. But this guy we are seeing is too much. Yes of too much growth in maybe titles and areas of east that don't eat it. We're actually talking about a little later in the show today. We we've actually talked about this quite a bit on the show. If you're a long-time listener, you know, all about it, not everything needs to be any sport. And I think that there is both a push from companies that want to get into the space and push from companies that CNN opportunity to get their game involved with these sports and are licking their chops at that opportunity. Not all of those opportunities are going to end up panning out. But for the big guys the ones that really do have a genuine interest established in their video game or their east board. I think are doing very well and are sitting and well poised for a great twenty months market corrections. Also, come in the form of shuttering some departments that aren't making money. Like, you thought they were in the same way that blizzard has done. Heroes, really upset with the way that was handled by in my view. There's no way that blizzard can continue to assessing virtually every game has out as eastward is not sustainable. No. That's very that's a very good point. I mean, you know, that's that's sort of the idea is that you're going to have to clear way and make space for new things to be able to come in and become popular. And we know that the turnover rate for east board scenes is very quick. So, you know, I think that having this notion that there is going to be a little bit of churn in the next two or three years is going to have to be something that we all are going to have to start getting comfortable with and yes, people are going to lose jobs, and it's going to be very painful but in the end to avoid the bubble situation. "International, if you guys aren't familiar with the daughter to Eastport seem it is a prize pool that's bigger than I think every other major sports pool except the Super Bowl. I think it's bigger than the MLB championship. I think it's bigger than the NBA championship as far as like raw dollars and how much the people who win take home an obviously like there. You're not splitting it across as many players and teammates and things like that is a professional sports happen to do. But like just the idea that if you win the international as part of a team of five that you are taking home, probably between two and ten million dollars. This. Sponsorships and everything. So I would be really, really, really good at a Moba. And that I would make all the money. And then I would fuck off to the middle of the woods somewhere and never. Civilization again, being pro level at fortnight, be like ninja level wouldn't be bad either because then I could just stream fortnight if I was really good at it and maybe get some of them ninja dollars trick is though I would never want an into then just life because when you when your life is a streamer, that's all you do all the time. "How. You're starting to make me near starting to influence me. Maybe it is better as an Olympic sport as an Olympic style thing, because that's what the Olympics does. It says we don't have one competition. We have track and we have swimming, and we have multiple competitions in each of those east sports isn't a sport. It's multiple sports. Maybe there needs to be an e sports Olympics. It's maybe shouldn't be part of the normal Olympics. But but but that that's scale that you're talking about. The only thing that similar to it are the Olympics and things like the Commonwealth Games and the Asian Games, etc. But now you have the other issue of how do you divide teams. Because right now, each word is run by like its own little Eastham conduct. Then for over once you have things that are based our franchise system, but then for counter strike teams that are a little more distributed. In some cases, when you'd have national, you'd have national committees for the sports Olympics that would pull the plug just like you do for hockey and swimming and everything like your overhead. It does not currently exist. You know, it's a lot of stuff that has to would have to be built and that is a question of, would it be worth it for Eastport? Do I do like the idea of an ovum picks of sports? I think that's where I met. It's not a World Cup. You can have a World Cup for CS go. You can have a World Cup the of the international already, right? You know, like that that exists, but maybe there should be like every four years ago during v athletes in what to ply, their game of of a favor. "And I was really disappointed by that. I didn't know if it was me not having played enough overwatch or if he was just speaking to fast or if his analogies that he was using or maybe his accent was getting in the way. I don't know if it was a combination of all of these things, but I just did not enjoy watching it because I couldn't. I couldn't keep up what was happening. And I think of someone like me who has years of experience watching video games and watching competitive video games has trouble enjoying that. I can't even imagine what somebody who doesn't who's never played the game before. Thinking was hard to follow. What was happening on screen was that the terminology who's using? What weren't you understanding? I guess, get clarification on. Sure, yeah. So the onscreen stuff is a little bit challenging to follow. If you're not familiar with each of the characters, each of the heroes, the people are playing as. And also like an any first person competitive Eastport. There's just like the jumping is just almost nauseating the hops, which I understand why they do it from competitive play perspective. But as a viewer, it makes me a little queasy to constantly watch the player jumping up and down all the time to avoid fire like it's just I couldn't do it. And then the lot of criticism of overwatch league by people who don't who are fans of overwatch who don't play over is that like there's just too much animation happening on the screen between all of the different super abilities and the colors and the different weapons that are firing. It's a lot to kind of manage if you don't know what you're looking at. And that's something that all east sports suffer from. I mean, leagues efforts from that dodo suffers from that. I think the only game that really doesn't is counter strike because the game has so old at this point that if an almost looks like a generic military shooter. Obviously, it's it's not pretty who play counter strike and people who are in video games. No, that. But if I was show counterstrike go to my dad, it would just look like a military shooter to him. Right. And also like that game, I don't want to call the gameplay simple because that's not what I'm trying to say. But like it's more simple to follow us oppose what I'm trying to get at. And like if you think of regular traditional sports, very easy concept is like a hard to do like how hard to achieve that level of skill which is why very few people do it similar to east eastwards. But at the base level, I can be like, if I don't understand all the rules of football is still understand that them getting that ball to the other end means that they get points like at a band level..

"Less money and like industry to be developed in somehow it makes sense for me so it seems to me something i've kinda struggled with sports is that truly like the conversion rate from casual player on the cell phone or tablet to someone who goes and opens twitch and and watch the competition it's very low we see all these like berry huge numbers of engagement for mobile east for its whether it'd be class roy our hurts them on the phone or even like some of this the sports titles ports some titles like madden and nba two k you know they have hundreds of millions of players but they're viewership is in the in the lower thousands really if that at times what do you think it's going to take to make it where those people that play regularly are tuning into eastport streams and supporting the goes oh i mean in general mobile sports in the very young which climbs in general like which is more that's the wanted has its own community and the mobile eastport chasers very young demographic so these are certain to seventeen year olds players in this is not your casual player and they don't have this c beg ground so i think it's a still take some time to grow up the community there is no viewership numbers per se as you say but now the the changes like let's let's just like referred to our class reality and what supercell did they completely broke down.
