"District three Which we have talked about district. Three is the western slope. pueblo Goes to the district. Three is by far the biggest district Covering most of the mountain region Down south pueblo And back east in colorado thirty one point eight percent republican twenty six point one percent democrat forty point three percent unaffiliated district for large portion of weld county. Morgan county kiowa county All of the counties and the eastern plains they fall under district for district four is the strongest republican. Hold for the republican party. Thirty eight point. Five percent Republican registered voters there. Eighteen point three percent democratic voters. Forty one point. Seven unaffiliated a district five district five is the colorado Let me see here. Colorado springs region colorado springs in district. Five is also a republican stronghold with thirty three point seven percent of registered voters being republican twenty percent democrat and in district five forty four point one percent unaffiliated district six. That is That is the south part of denver. twenty two point eight percent republican thirty two point one percent democrat and forty three point. Three percent unaffiliated in district. Seven that That goes east a excuse me. West of colorado springs In in district seven. This is the toss. This is one of the tossups that have here. Twenty five point eight percent republican twenty eight point two percent democratic forty four point three percent unaffiliated and the last one district eight that will have an impact as well as a toss up. Twenty five point four percent republican twenty eight point two percent democratic. I know that's a lot of numbers but to take the the big takeaway out of this that this is split almost right down the middle and that's a good thing for both parties here in the state of colorado. The democrats will not have as big of a hold as what they thought. They may and republicans. I think got a little bit of a bigger hold than what they were expecting in this at least an opportunity now. It's on each party to run their best candidates. We'll we'll talk about it that'll be a today's takeaway that all record a little bit later on today. This story is an interesting on here. Out of out of the greeley tribune Gop reveals ten point quote unquote commitment to colorado And this is from brian porter via the fort morgan times from the eastern plains to the western slope colorado share desire for more affordable living prioritizing public safety expansion of educational choice a delegation of republican elected officials and the colorado republican party claimed on monday. Those priorities were among ten. The republican party unveiled as their commitment to colorado platform at a news. Conference held at sinclair gas station in denver. Couple takeaways already. That's a weird place to have a press conference. Why are you having an author to support oil and gas. Shane look how expensive it is. I don't i know. Secondly i actually like what the republicans are doing here. It's easy to make fun of it. I wanted to do that right off. The bat be like wait a second. He only got ten. That's all you could come up with this ten plans ten key points but you take back and look at the republican party in the state of colorado and it's in shambles. The republicans are coming close to win an anywhere outside of the county and a couple other ones the eastern plains. They're not winning. Eighty so this to me feels like okay. Let's take a step back. Let's laser in. Let's narrow focus on these ten things. Make them a priority and say hey look we said we're going to do these ten things boom done and i think that's a smart move from the republican party. Republicans will always stand up for working class families. Children are small business owners are farmers and ranchers and all those who want to work. Hard and build the american dream said christie burton brown the chairwoman of the colorado republican party. And this is why. They held it at the sinclair gas station. She noted the price for a gallon of regular. Gasoline was three dollars and sixty nine cents at the station. Monday wall just six months ago. It was two dollars and nineteen cents. Little bit of a jump. You're paying fifty more for every gallon gas pump. She said working families need to fill up their gas tanks to go to work. She was critical of democrat democrat policies. That she says have led to the price jump other priorities. In the commitment colorado platform include the environment job creation and career opportunities and end to quote unquote the war on rural colorado adheres to the taxpayers bill of rights accountability and transparency in government. That's that's everybody's like wait. Eight accountability but then again not not me. I'm good building strong communities and protecting the individual rights. This is a united. Republican party said burton brown who noted her visits to forty five sixty four counties in colorado since march every single person. I've spoken with once colorado. It'd be more affordable. They want us to prioritize public safety and educational opportunities. It is still strange. It was held at a gas station. I will say that. Because i mean if you drive around any of the sinclair gas stations around here. There's at least one or two homeless dudes that are hanging out there right. Do you think that there was a homeless guy. Can i get that mike. I've got some things to say and that would have been entertaining have listened. Coloradans should demand. Lower housing costs lower healthcare costs and lower taxes among countless republican serving in the colorado legislature to join in the commitment to colorado unveiling. We're both the house and senate minority leaders. Public safety is and rightly Rightly should be one of our priorities of state. Government house minority leader. Hugh mckean said. We cannot stand idly by as our beloved state descends even further into chaos. We all remember the boarded up windows and flagrant Flagrant lawlessness of the past year republicans will commit to working with the families of colorado to solve the rising crime. Problem keen said the third priority of the ten among what republicans are calling the big three is education republicans are committed to prioritizing not the institutions. But the kids send a minority leader. Chris holbert said we've tried it way talking about the car the democrats. It is time to change course. The republican direction is one which most degree said par- up parental choice in education. Education is not just a republican. Talking point it is what parents are demanding. Can the republican party pull themselves to pull themselves out of where they're at right now in colorado. I mean cory gardner got whooped almost every republican that ran got whooped. Can they bounce back. And is this the start of it i mean. Is this the process that starts getting them there. it's it's going to be interesting to see for sure. Ten twelve the time. I want to say thanks to the tavern at saint michel square. It is half price wine and whisky wednesday at the tavern. they've got specials throughout the course of the week every single day and of course coming up this weekend They will have their bottomless mimosas. "In the meantime, though, let me tell you what else is on the block Because we've got Matt the dead to me coming up to 12 35. A Boulder City Council member compares Jews to prairie dogs. Of course, it's a Nazi comparison because the Boulder City Council voted to gas some prairie dogs on city property, and she didn't like that. And so she basically said, Is it any different than what the Nazis did? Well, kind of in the prairie Dogs are not humans, Jewish or otherwise, they're not human beings. And they carry bubonic plague, and they destroyed the landscape in the city's well when its rights to have them removed. And the easiest ways to Gasam. She did not back down when called on her comments. She actually sort of double down on it. I think all creatures are equally in pardon. I think that animals are just a partner as human beings and I don't know what's wrong with you people for not understanding that So that's awesome. Pulis as once again dumped onto the rural Eastern Plains, part of Colorado by replacing their representation on the water Conservation board. Now why is that a big deal? Because there are a whole lot of farmers out there on the eastern Plains and agriculture needs water. Matches the fact And they have replaced him with a farmer. But a farmer from Broomfield And the issue that the columnist In this column takes with The appointment is not the skill set or knowledge of the new individual. It's just where he lives. And there's no more representation for Eastern Colorado AG Industries on the Colorado or the Water Conservation board. So that's no good. Um, there's some problems with the police reform bill that was shoved through by the Legislature eager to show they were doing something. About police, you know, encounters. They have made a law so vague that municipalities are literally struggling to interpret it. And that's a nightmare. Legislation should be as clear as possible. Because if it's not clear, and it's too subjective, then it is applied unequally, and that's wrong. So we got to fix that. Then we got ducks on a slide. Oh, here's a great story about another set of charter schools that's been open since August. Oh, Did you see that if I didn't put it on the block today, But did you happen to notice that the Chicago's teachers union Has somehow been bought off and have now agreed that they will go back to school. I'm dying to see what's in the next teacher's contract dying to see. What the union extracted in exchange for just getting back into the classroom. We shall see Thea Republican Party has presented a bill. And it's called the Omar Act. Dave, Did you hear about this? The Omar Act? I saw it on the blogged. The Omar Act is a bill designed to prevent members of Congress from hiring their relatives. And shoveling huge sums of money to their relatives say, like Omar Ilhan did. She paid $2.8 million to a consulting firm owned by her husband that represents 70% of her campaign spending. So that's certainly feels a little bit like a slush fund to me. I mean, call me crazy. That's nuts. I see. So they brought up the oversight for members and relatives Act or the Omar Act. And part of this is just a giant week. Because the Democrats decided to step in and try to do something about Marjorie Green Taylor instead of letting the Republicans handle it within their caucus. That's gonna be a huge problem going forward. And this morning, Dave this morning. Joe. The listener sent me the following quote from 1984 George Orwell. Every record has been destroyed or falsified. Every book rewritten. Every picture has been repainted. Every statue and street building has been renamed. Every date has been altered, and the process is continuing. Day by day and minute by minute history has stopped. Nothing exists except an analyst presence in which the party is always right. And then right below that. Have a story. Did you know that there are people of peace seriously? Asking for the creation of a realities are A governmental official who will be the final arbiter of what is true and what is not. Does that sound stranger? Like big brother? Dave? I was generally gonna ask this. Do you think George Orwell nailed this so completely out of luck? Or was he such a a student of human nature that he knew that we would eventually end up here? I like to think the latter. I'm going with crystal ball. I'm just going with crystal ball. No, I do think I think that he was such a student of history and human nature that this was inevitably where we were going to go again. And he's right. It's very, very Well and then I have a column. The Biden stimulus is not justified by current economic conditions. We're going to talk about that at some point in the near future, Probably not today because I got guests and everything else, but I want to talk about that. And our I P to George Shultz. Did I ever tell you My George Shultz Star story If it's a good one. So I was a flight attendant and I am boarding the plane, and George Schultz, the former secretary of state boards, the plane and I say, Oh, secretary shorts. Nice to meet you. And he comes on the planning sits down and I'm working with this flight attendant who's not the sharpest tool in the shed. And I say we have George Shultz on the plane and she was like no way. That's amazing. And I was kind of surprised because she wasn't that bright right and she walks over and says something to him and then turns around and comes back and says You told me the guy who wrote peanuts was on the plane. No, you and I said No. I told you, George Shultz was on the plane, not Charles Schulz. But nice try, sister. Nice try. She was super mad at me because she was stupid. Just saying What do your stupid Susan you know, but you know that was coming because I think it Oh, no, she's gonna, Yeah, one of the country's biggest airline says it's going to keep blocking middle seats longer. "It's easy to Monday morning quarterback but from your perch were there signs that were missed that that should have been, I guess abided by or should have been greater security at the Capitol than what there was last Wednesday. Well, I haven't been a special agent in charge and handle many large events, especially one event had 250,000 people in a five block area. With no arrests or anything. I understand what they were going through. Leadership has to have leadership of imagination. You have to imagine the worst case scenario first. And plan for that, And then everything else is down from that. And one of the things I I feel strongly that leadership failed the officers. You had officers that were standing doing hand to hand combat. With these demonstrators, some terrorists they were doing hand to hand combat with him, and that never should have happened. They never should have got that close to those officers, and that's a failure in leadership. But you have to let protesters peaceably assemble, and at the beginning, Certainly people were doing that. And then it got out of control. You can understand the flip side of it, which is You know, the leadership thought this was really bad PR. You don't want to have cops with guns drawn. And you know that kind of look in front of your beautiful U. S. Capitol building so you can see how there's that it's that gentle, you know, tug and pull and they came down on the wrong side of it. It looks like Well, what one of the things that you look at, and, uh, law enforcement. We We want to make sure that people express their constitutional right. But within that you also said perimeters. You set parameters that you don't let people violate if you have a enter perimeter, which is a the capital. You should have outer perimeters that that should reinforce. That should stop anything and also allowing on angry mob to march all the way from the White House. Up to the capital I've taken that walk of many times is a lot of short walk. There should have been enough time. Tonto. Look at the mood of this this mob and look at What they were saying and take adequate resources. So again, I think it's it's a failure and leadership imagination Herrick. There has been reports and I don't want to come totally conflict that crowd that was there of writers, but it's been known for a while that the biggest security threat to this country is white nationalists and white nationalism. Having said that, are you surprised to some degree what I perceive as an again I'm no expert, but the amount of restraint And deferential treatment. I felt that some in law enforcement, maybe even the leadership not so much. The men and women on the ground were showing to these folks where I'm thinking. If this was a different sort of people, they wouldn't have shown that amount of restraint. 11 of the things this this group talked about. Bring your weapons come armed. That's a recipe for a really bad situation and I was absolutely shocked. That there were not dispersal devices and in place to break these crowds up and also preparation for if there are individuals in the crowd that armed That adequate resource is air used T O take those individuals out of remove those individuals. But I was very shocked, Uh, at the lack of what I saw over the summer, but I saw the summer was over used. Of police, National Guard and others. And what I saw the capital was not even under use. It was no use of things that should have been used in the situation and again. It's a failure in leadership to anticipate that wish we had more time with you. Eric Jackson. He's a former FBI special agent. The counterterrorism division. Thank you for your perspective this morning. We appreciate it.
