Mexico Rejects Texas' Proposal to Let Police Deport Illegals

"To the Dan Bongino show filling in for Dan. Here's Vince colonies. Yes, indeed. I'm Vince colonies normally heard on WMAL in Washington, D. C. I will be heard there coming up at 3 to 6 p .m. When I fill in for Dan, we've got a story for you from our border. southern Remember that? We used to have one of those. The Texas Tribune has a got a piece this week. Mexico rejects Texas's proposal to allow state police case to deport undocumented immigrants. Boy, even the headline needs to be untangled. Undocumented immigrants. That's a lie. Let's talk about language in the last hour, the way the left manipulates it. Undocumented immigrants. Really? Because what I'm seeing a lot of is stolen social security numbers and fake paperwork and even people come into the United States illegally, then walk up to Border Patrol agents and then they're given some sort of documents that demonstrate that we're aware they're here. So they're not undocumented. They're actually documented. So that's already a lie. It's generous to say that they're immigrants because that in a sense justifies coming into the United States. What's really going on is they're illegal aliens by every traditional definition of the word and also that's what appears in our statutes. The laws themselves say illegal aliens. But Mexico is rejecting a Texas proposal to allow state police to deport illegals. What do you mean rejecting it? So Mexico us allows to, if the federal government wants to do it, on the very rare occasion that it does nowadays. That's fine, but if Texas wants to do it, Mexico is rejecting it? What's the difference to them? Well, the difference is obvious. Our federal government is not doing it. And any attempt by any American entity to actually put illegals in trebuchets and throw them back across the street, they're going to reject. They're against. No, no, no, no. Don't send them to us. We don't want them. We opened up our country. It's so they would come to you. Mexico does not police its own southern border. It used to. Trump When was in office, Trump forced them to. He actually threatened a trade war unless they got control of the thing. Okay, fine, fine, fine. They got control of their southern border, and they slowed down all of the

A highlight from Communicating Christ to Others

"Let's open our Bibles tonight, we're gonna actually be in just a couple quick passages tonight, but let's begin this evening in the book of Mark chapter 16, Mark 16, we're gonna look at one of the Great Commission passages to begin with tonight. The title of tonight's message is, Communicating Christ to Others. Communicating Christ to Others. What do we mean by that? So we're gonna start out with something, a very familiar command to us by the Lord Jesus, so Mark 16 and verse 15. The Bible says here, And He said unto them, unto His disciples, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature, or literally to all creation. Wherever you go, go and preach the gospel, proclaim the gospel. And so this is definitely some very important instructions from our Lord, we refer to this as the Great Commission, and as a command for us to be His salt alights, to spread His message of truth, no matter where we go around the world. We've been talking on Wednesday nights, one of the blessings or assurances that Jesus gave His disciples and even to us, that we would do greater works than even He did, and not greater in like how many or even in the way that they're being done, but greater in the scope that was done. And so remember Jesus, the miracles that He performed was pretty much just to Israel, His teaching was to Israel, to the lost sheep of the house of Israel, but we see in the book of Acts, that message went really not in just Jerusalem and Judea, but also Samaria in the uttermost part of the world, much broader than it was during Christ's ministry itself. And so it's again, they didn't do a greater job than Jesus did, I mean, no one can do that, okay? But the scope of it was much greater. And so tonight we're going to be talking about really the application of that, and even as we look at missions today, here at Victory Baptist, I'm very proud that we support about 21 missionaries serving really around the world, representing human here in Minnesota and then abroad, and we rejoice in that. I'm really looking forward to this missions conference coming up in just a few weeks. Again, we have three speakers that will be with us, Brother Sam Slobodian, who we know well, reaching Ukrainians and Eastern Europeans, Russian speakers, predominantly, with the gospel, and looking forward to hearing an update from what's going on in his world, his ministry. And then we have another man, Andrew Counterman, who is a director over a ministry that helps church planters in Latin America, and God has been doing some good things through his ministry. I actually talked to him this week, and I found out that years ago, he actually used to be on the board of BIEM, which is the mission board of Sam Slobodian. So he and Sam Slobodian are good friends, haven't seen each other in a while, so they look forward to reconnecting at the conference. Small world, isn't it? And then we have David Bennett, with Silent Word Ministries International. I've known David for many years, and he ministers to the deaf around the world, and really kind of an interesting mission field. I think a lot of times we forget about the deaf communities around, and how much they do need to hear, literally, they need to hear Jesus, they need to hear about Jesus. How do deaf people hear? They actually hear with their eyes and they talk with their hands, okay? Pretty amazing. They still communicate. So very interesting, how do we share the gospel with the deaf around us? And we're gonna do a lot of application here tonight as well. So when we think about the Great Commission, to go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature, although this command is simple, the task before us is great. In human terms, the Great Commission is daunting, but that God has promised us His presence and His power as we go forth in His name. In the world's population today, we have what, 7 .7 billion people, I believe, it's growing by the minute, right? And so there's a lot of people in this world, especially in the past 100 years, my word, the world's population has grown exceedingly. And so when we think of that, and we're supposed to go into all the world, preach the gospel to every creature, every person, wow, where do you start? Where do you begin? And I think that's kind of, when you look at it again from a human perspective, that seems overwhelming, but how do we do this? By looking at modern missions and when we kind of the traditional approach we take to missions, even here at Victory Baptist, there are a few challenges that must be considered. So I wanna do something tonight. About a year ago, we actually went over the philosophy of missions in the local church. We spent several weeks on why we do missions, why do we have, why is the local church involved? We talked about even the deputation process, is that even biblical support raising? Is that biblical? We talked about a little bit of the missions experience across the world and wherever they may be. We talked about all those things, but here's some, just a very quick recap of two things. First of all, what is missions? Let's talk about that. Missions is this, missions, this is kind of my definition in a way, but kind of modified from others, but missions is the responsibility and the task of the local church to take the gospel of Jesus Christ to the world for the purpose of discipleship, multiplication of self -supporting, self -governing and self -propagating churches for the glory of God, okay? So as we talk about works that are eventually self -supporting, self -governing, self -propagating church, in other words, they become kind of, they're not dependent on a foreign entity per se. They have their own independence, if you will. So that is, that's one of the goals of missions, but who is a missionary? Who is a missionary? There's a song that I remember singing when I was little, be a missionary every day. I don't be a missionary every day, tell the world that Jesus is the way. I don't know if you ever heard that song or not, but the fact of the matter is that song's not true. Not everyone is called to be a missionary as a vocational missionary. Everyone is called to be an ambassador for the Lord in that regard. You represent Jesus Christ no matter where you go, but here is, this is why. Why do we say, when we talk about missions and missionaries, who is a missionary? And this is a definition here, a missionary is one called by God to full -time service of Bible study and prayer and one who crosses cultural and or geographical boundaries to proclaim the gospel in areas where Jesus Christ is largely unknown, okay? Let me slow down a little bit and read that again because there's a lot in that. A missionary is one called by God to full -time service of Bible study and prayer and then one who crosses cultural and or geographical boundaries to proclaim the gospel in areas where Jesus Christ is largely unknown. So that's when we talk about missionaries and we support a missionary and we have, like you said, we have 21. That is generally their description, okay, in those parts, so very important, okay? But one thing that we're gonna talk about tonight is this. This is a practical way. We talked earlier about in modern missions, there are a few challenges that missionaries do face and it's one that often does not, it sometimes gets talked about but it is not really thought about. What do you mean? So it's, again, this is something that's talked about but not really thought about. What is one of these challenges? And one of the challenges that missionaries often face is that of language barriers. There's cultural barriers. I think we think about, when I was in Bible college, I was a missions major and so I remember going through one of our missions classes and our professor, he said that there is three Fs in the missionary experience. The first is fascination. When a missionary gets to the field, there's a fascination. It's kind of like honeymoon period, wow, you're kind of like the tourist, you know, you take pictures of everything, buy all the souvenirs, you know, you kind of get that fascination. The second part, though, after you're there for a while, you get, it becomes frustration because you figure out, wait a minute, you stick out like a sore thumb in that culture. You don't look like, talk like, act like the culture that you're in and sometimes they don't think the way you do or, you know, respond the way you're expecting. So there's a frustration in the culture. We never got to the fourth F, or the third F, excuse me, we never got to the third F, so I have no idea what comes after frustration. He left us hanging all these years, it's been 20 some years. I have no idea what we're supposed to end up. I would say, if anything, I think there is a sense of fulfillment that you are obedient to Christ, our faithfulness, that you're there sticking out as long as God keeps you in that area. But nonetheless, language barriers is very, it's a real barrier and it's actually more, and I'll kind of break it down a little bit here in just a moment here, but language barriers is actually a very serious barrier that missionaries must take, that they must cross. And so learning another language in another culture, preferably by immersion, is something that's very challenging that a lot of missionaries face and I think this is really where you find out who's going to stick it out in missions versus who's not going to stick it out. And I'll get to that, why is that, okay? So let me ask you this, how many of you took a foreign language, whether it be in high school, college, whether it be, several of you have, okay? I jokingly say, Linnea just started a Spanish class at co -op, but I jokingly say, the high school Spanish you have, by the time you get older, you're just good enough to order at Taco Bell, you know? So speaking, practically what do you do with that? And so if you've actually learned and studied another language, like actually seriously hit the books on it and to immerse yourself in that culture if you can, is very important. But here's some quick statistics. There are, how many languages are there in the world today? How many known languages? There are over, there's about, actually this is the report as of earlier this year, January 1st, 7 ,117 known languages spoken by people around the world, according to Ethnologue. Well over 7 ,000 languages represented around the world, that's a lot, okay? So here's the next question, I'm gonna ask you this, what do you think? Which language has the most native speakers, in other words, this is their first language, their birth languages if you will, which language has the most native speakers, what do you think? Chinese, yes, absolutely, 1 .27 billion people speak Chinese as their first language, English is third down the list, okay? So anyways, you think of this Mandarin or Cantonese, okay, that's very well spoken, okay? So how much of the world's population speaks English as a first or second language, what do you think? What percentage would you say of the world's population speaks English as a first or second language? What's that? I'd say you can learn to speak English and all that.

What is up, you Cafe Bitcoiners? What up? Hey, Alex, can you hear me? Yeah, man. Damn, the service is amazing. It's fantastic. I was going to have you co -host today, but if you have terrible interwebs, then we'll have to do it again a different time. Yeah, I'm sitting solid right now, but it's my last day in El Salvador, so it's touch and go, but it feels good right now. It feels real good. I people hear laughing and enjoying themselves in the background. Man. Yeah, that's Blake just got out of the surf, and now the homie Paul's taking my fish out, got a session in. I mean, this place is next level, but don't come here, the surf sucks. How you been, man? How's everyone doing? I know I've been off for a little bit, but keeping track of everything and saw that the SEC got dealt another, what looks like a little legal blow. Their legal department is, are they even batting 500 at this point? I don't know. I didn't hear anything. What are you talking about there? I thought I read some about Binance getting granted a confidentiality ruling that basically blocked a bunch of information from the grasp of the SEC for clients. I don't know. I just headlined Reddit, so don't quote me. Didn't dig a lot into it, but saw that that had occurred. Yeah, I didn't hear that. It would suck to be Gary Gunzler right now. Yeah, dude. They're sporting like city attorney type numbers, just getting mopped up, but I don't know. What do you mean? I'm sure he's gotten a job offer for BlackRock. He's sitting pretty. Oh, that's a good point, actually. Anybody want to take odds on Peter's thought there? I think Peter's probably right. I would say the likelihood of that is probably fairly high. That's a hell of a trifecta there. You should take that with Joe Carlos, sorry, Peter, like a ETF still within 2023 on top of a BlackRock job acceptance from Gensler thing. It's got to be like a hundred to one. Yeah, the theta on that is pretty high right now, so no. Yeah, that's like Buster Douglas numbers. It's wild. You know, we were joking in here the other day. Joe came in and we were talking a little bit about the ETFs and Joe was like, I don't understand why we're not seeing an ETF where you can see the actual addresses for the ETF you can verify on chain and then you have redemption directly to shareholders from the trust. And I was joking. I was like, man, somebody is going to do it. We should do it. Me and you, Joe. Let's do this thing. So people were tweeting at me like, is Swan going to do an ETF now? And it's like, dude, I was totally freaking joking about that. That's classic. Where's American HODL this morning? He was caffeinated up on fire yesterday. Dude, he was cracking me up and that guy is funny as hell. I was trying to hack a coconut up in El Salvador and I almost chopped my pinky off. Mickey Koss, good morning, Shelly. Good morning, Terrence. Good morning. Good morning. Good morning. So we're going to have a pretty chill day today. We're going to be doing some beginners Q &A. We have a couple of news items to discuss. There's a lot of Bitcoin mining rigs getting plugged in apparently. Also, we're going to revisit. It's fun to, you know, the Internet's an amazing thing. You can come back and revisit stupid shit people said about Bitcoin. You know, Bitcoin is dying. This is dying. That's dying. Bitcoin is going to boil the oceans, all that. There's some interesting comments from Dave Ramsey that we're going to bring back up. Apparently, the central bank over in England wants all systemically important stablecoin firms to back their issuance with non -interest bearing central bank deposits. I mean, that's like a full on lizard move, in my opinion. We'll discuss that a little more too. But yeah. All right. Let's do the intro to the show. You're listening to Cafe Bitcoin. Welcome to Cafe Bitcoin. This is episode 476. Shout -outs to supporters on Fountain Nosterness. Our mission for the show is to provide signal in a sea of noise, teaching the other seven billion people on this planet why there is hope because of this bright orange future that we call Bitcoin. Today is November the 14th, Tuesday, 2023. Man, we're on our way to the next halving. It's coming up. Where's Ant when I need him? Here he comes. Yeah, man. I think, Ant, I'm going to just like lead off right with you if you're ready. I don't know if you can hear me right now, but we should start with some stats. Let's get some orientation. We haven't done stats in a long time. So let's begin with the stats and get an idea of where we are. Ant, are you there? Are you ready? Yeah, I got some stats. I got time chain stats up right here. Let's go. Taco, talk to us about this impenetrable freedom force field. What's it at? Current USD price, $36 ,587. We are at block height, $816 ,745. Current hash rate, seven -day moving average is around 435 exahash per second. Let's see, mempool transaction is still full a little bit. We got $211 ,000 climbing. The fastest fee right now is around 79 sats per v -byte. Good news, we got 161 days about to the halving, and we are currently up 25 % on the 200 -day And right now, let's see, sats per fiat dollar, is that how you say it? It's 2 ,732 sats per dollar right now. The last block was found by Antpool, and the total subsidy and fees was just over 7 Bitcoin. And I think it was around 10 % of that block was fees, so very interesting. We're 88 % into the halving. $23 ,254, we just hit a block. Block's left. And that's pretty much it for now. I think that's it. Sats per dollar. You can buy 2 ,734 sats per dollar. I didn't hear you if you said that, so I'm just saying it. That's okay, it moved. Technically two different data points. And we have also, there is also 93 .05 % of the total supply of Bitcoin that will ever be mined in the history of mankind has already been mined and distributed. So you might want to get some just in case this thing catches on a little bit. Hey, Ant, if you're in a stable situation, let's get you up as a co -host, my man. Okay, I'm going to switch networks. Okay, you let us know when you're ready. D++, good morning. Thank you for joining us. I know it's super early for you over there on the West Coast. Good morning. I have a huge smile on my face because I'm actually driving over to Club Lab here in Austin, and I feel like I just got the weather report. I felt like I was experiencing the future in real time for a minute there, hearing all of the stats on what Bitcoin's up to. I want that every morning. It's so good. Isn't it cool? You know, to me, it's like an orientation thing. It's useful to know where you are to figure out where you're going. You have to know where you are to figure out where you're going or how you're going to get to where you're going. But it's also really useful because when I started hearing stats like this when I was a newbie Bitcoiner, I didn't know what they meant. I was like, you guys are saying all these words that I don't know the meaning to. And it caused me to look them up, which forced me to learn about it, which was awesome. Also, 435 ExaHash is crazy. Last I checked, it was 420. And it's just so crazy to me how the hash has completely decoupled from the price. I mean, going on for probably a couple of years now, ever since we left China, it's just wild. But the big news for me today is I am driving to PlubLab. As you guys know, it's the Bitcoin startup accelerator and community accelerator in Austin. You have to come through if you're ever in town. And what I'm so excited about is I am enrolled in Nifty Lisa Nye's Taproot class. So I'm taking her Taproot class. She's pretty much one of the only people on the planet that can teach it because what we're doing is we're taking the spec, which is to say the BIPs, and we're implementing them, which is to say we're creating our own library that makes Taproot happen. And she's one of the only people that can really do this because she's one of the only people who can translate from the BIPs into the code because there are certain things that are kind of missing or glossed over. Obviously, it's all in there, right? But it's pretty hard to take the BIP and to just translate it into creating your own Bitcoin library. So it's so fun. It's very challenging. Definitely, this class is for experts only. But if you ever wanted to learn how Taproot works, I highly recommend taking her base 58 class.

A highlight from MARKETS DAILY: Crypto Update | Rising Venture Capital Investment in Crypto

"This episode of Markets Daily is sponsored by CME Group and PayPal. It's Tuesday, November 14th, 2023, and this is Markets Daily from CoinDesk. My name is Noelle Acheson, CoinDesk collaborator and author of the Crypto as Macro Now newsletter on Substat. On today's show, we're talking about new inflows into the crypto ecosystem, inflation, and more. So you don't miss an episode, be sure to follow the podcast on your platform of choice and turn on notifications. And just a reminder, CoinDesk is a news source and does not provide investment advice. Now, a markets roundup. Crypto prices were heading down earlier today, but then we got some good news on the US inflation. I'll talk more about this in a moment. This has turned the mood around, with many assets clawing back some of the day's losses. According to CoinDesk indices, at 9 a .m. Eastern time today, Bitcoin was trading at $36 ,546, down almost 1 % over the past 24 hours, although up 1 .5 % over the past hour alone. Ether was trading down 0 .75 % over the past 24 hours at $2 ,043. Elsewhere, Cosmos, Filecoin, and the Lido DAO token were down 9%. Solana and Polkadot were down 3 .5%. Ripple's XRP token had an interesting day yesterday. A tweet reported that BlackRock had filed for an XRP trust in Delaware. This was taken as a sign that the asset manager was planning to file a proposal for a spot XRP ETF, and the asset jumped 12 % in just a few minutes. The news turned out to be fake, however. I mean, it's very, very unlikely BlackRock would file for an ETF based on asset that not only doesn't have a CME derivatives market, but is still in active securities litigation. Needless to say, the XRP price corrected sharply shortly after, with both moves triggering significant losses in derivatives positions. Earlier today, XRP was still up over the past 24 hours, but only around 1%. In macro indicators, the US inflation data for the month of October is in. And it came in soft, which is very good news. To recap, in September, the headline CP index increased by 3 .7%, and consensus estimates for October pointed to a 3 .3 % increase. That itself would have been good. But the number came in even softer, at 3 .2%. Even more relevant for the US Federal Reserve is the Core CPI index, since this strips out the volatile components of food and energy. In September, Core CPI jumped by 4 .1 % year on year, and expectations were for that rate of increase to hold steady in October. The actual figure came in at 4 .0%, the smallest increase since September 2021. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, shelter accounted for the bulk of the increase in the Core Inflation Index, but much less so than expected. And it seems lower energy prices are also doing their bit. On a monthly basis, Core CPI grew by 0 .2%, less than expected. This brings the three -month average monthly gain down to 0 .3%, lower than last year's average of 0 .5%. The average needs to come down further to give the Fed some breathing room, but it is progress. A US rate hike at the December FOMC meeting was unlikely anyway, given market tension, geopolitical fragility, and the likelihood of a government shutdown starting this weekend. This release now takes that totally off the table. As we head into record, US yields are heading down fast, with the 10 -year Treasury yield plummeting as investors were holding their breath for the inflation report. The good news in the figures has given the market a jolt of energy, with futures pointing to a very strong open. European indices were more positive yesterday, with the FTSE 100 up 0 .9%, the German DAX up 0 .6%, and the Euro Stoxx 600 up 0 .75%. The US figures are extending this trend for the DAX and the as investors digest the UK cabinet reshuffle. In Asia, stocks were cautiously positive today, with both Japan's Nikkei index and China's Shanghai Composite climbing 0 .3 % and the Hang Seng losing almost 0 .2%. In commodities, oil continues to head up, despite a report out this morning from the International Energy Agency that insists global oil markets won't be as tight as expected this quarter. The agency recognizes that demand is growing, as OPEC said yesterday, but non -OPEC supply apparently is growing even more. The market doesn't seem convinced yet, however, and the Brent crude benchmark is up 0 .4 on the day, trading at $83 .67 a barrel. "Fourteen after. America in the morning continues with the national forecast. Here's Accuweather .com meteorologist Karl Babinski. With November drawing to a close today the weather is expected to be dry across much of the nation, but there's currently a strong southerly flow pushing lots of moisture into southern and eastern parts of Texas. This is being aided by pressure a low system that has currently moved out of the southern Rockies and into West Texas. The influx of warm and moist air will cause widespread showers and heavy gusty thunderstorms to break out later on today. In fact, the greater Houston metropolitan area will be one of the harder hit places. The National Severe Storms Forecasting Lab has placed this area under an enhanced risk for strong thunderstorms this afternoon and this evening. Eyes are expected to be in the 70s in this area, while it will in be the 60s in the Dallas -Fort Worth Metroplex with showers this afternoon. A highlight from Crypto Update | Rising Venture Capital Investment in Crypto

After falling more than 1 % yesterday, gold today is benefiting from a drop in the $DXY index, as US yields digest the good inflation figures. Earlier today, gold was trading up over 0 .5 % at $1 ,956 per ounce. Stay with us. After the break, we're going to talk about new crypto investment.

"Hello, and welcome to the Cafe Bitcoin Podcast brought to you by Swan Bitcoin, the best way to buy and learn about Bitcoin. I'm your host, Alex Dancic, and we're excited to announce that we're bringing the Cafe Bitcoin conversation from Twitter Spaces to you on this show, the Cafe Bitcoin Podcast, Monday through Friday every week. Join us as we speak to guests like Michael Saylor, Lynn Alden, Corey Clifston, Greg Foss, Tomer Strohleit, and many others in the Bitcoin space. Also be sure to hit that subscribe button. Make sure you get notifications when we launch a new episode. You can join us live on Twitter Spaces Monday through Friday, starting at 7 a .m. Pacific and 10 a .m. Eastern every morning to become part of the conversation yourself. Thanks again. We look forward to bringing you the best Bitcoin content daily here on the Cafe Bitcoin Podcast. All right, good morning to all of you Cafe Bitcoiners. It is Monday, November 13th, and you guys can probably hear my slack snapping off here. Let me mute that shit. Sorry about that. Monday, November 13th, 2023, and it is another awesome day. Looking forward to the week in Bitcoin. Once again, why are all these Bitcoiners so goddamn excited all the time? It's disgusting. What's wrong with you people? You know, I remember when you first started doing Spaces, Alex, and this is before I had extensive experience with Slack, and I could hear it going off all the time in the background. Every time we were having those Spaces discussions in the morning, I was just like, what in the hell are you picking up? My fault. My bad. Morning macro. Oh, sorry. How's it going, guys? I hope everybody had a good Veterans Day weekend, too, by the way. It was fantastic. I worked my ass off. That's all right, though. Good stuff. Good stuff. Good morning, Terrence. Bright and early. On a Monday at like 7 o 'clock in the morning. What's wrong with you people? Macro. Good morning, Peter. Good morning, Jacob. Shout -outs to Dr. Jeff, Joe Carlosari, in the audience. Obviously, we're throwing you guys invites, but you're welcome to just chill. Whatever. It's all good. So apparently, Bitcoin has taken a slight pause from its vertical acceleration and Bitcoiners are attacking each other once again. That didn't take long. Anyway, welcome to Cafe Bitcoin, episode 475. Shout -outs to our supporters on Fountain and Nosternes. By the way, when I say signal, I'm not trying to say it's just my signal. We're looking for the signal. Some people are like, eh, never let us on stage at Cafe Bitcoin. It's an opinion, all right? It's an opinion. It's an opinion. If I don't think your signal is that great, then maybe we might not let you on. I'm not sorry for that. Like we're here to provide signal. And yeah, it's a judgment call and yeah, you might think your signal is more important and that's fine. I'm not mad at that. I'm not even judging you. In fact, here's, Jacob and I were just talking about this earlier. I don't even disagree with you on many things. Some people are like, well, this issue is really important. You guys don't talk about it. It's like, it is really important. Totally agree with you, actually. What I don't agree with is complaining about stuff that you have no solution for, or if you're not building a solution for something. Like if you're building something and it's a solution, we will invite you on this stage and you can talk about it. But if all you're doing is whinging and complaining, like why are we going to waste everybody's time with that nonsense? Am I wrong? Am I out of line here? Serious question. No, you're not out of line and whinging is a good word. I think more people need to use it. Yeah, mewling. I love that word too, mewling, whinging, meh, meh, um, okay. Good morning, Mickey Koss. For today's show, we're going to talk about, apparently BlackRock is launching an Ethereum ETF, or they're applying to anyway. We're going to do a spot Bitcoin ETF approval update this week, maybe. And Joe Carlosari is welcome to come up here and give us his views on that. Otherwise we'll just read his tweets out loud. I got no shame with that. What else? Oh, ICBC, which is one of the largest banks in China, was apparently cyber ransomed last week. That's a thing. So maybe we'll talk about that a little bit. Here's an interesting little factoid. Every $6 ,313 move above $29 ,586 is a billion dollars for micro strategy. Wow. Well, indeed. But the naysayers are going to say every $3 ,360 move down is minus a billion dollars for micro strategy. I was just about to say, I could see the articles now as it drops from $100K to $95K, they'll be just, you know, slamming micro strategy. Meanwhile he's sitting there like up thousands of percent. It's completely absurd, but it'll continue. Just buy Berkshire Hathaway. It's better than Bitcoin. Anybody can buy it. Are you slamming Dear Point? No, I would never do that. Nate, you're so crystal clear this morning. You must be stationary and not driving anywhere. I'm using the updated desktop. They've improved it dramatically. And you aren't driving anywhere. That too. You can't raise your hand, but it is working pretty well. Okay. Question. Are you on Windows or Mac? I'm on Windows 10 or 11 and I forget what number it is. You can't raise your hand on Mac either. You can't raise your hand and can you do emojis? I can do a lot of emojis. A lot of emojis, wow. Like a thousand at a time, apparently. So are you retired now, Nate? For the most part, yeah. I love your story, man. For those of you who don't know, Nate's been hanging around, you know, he's been coming around Cafe Bitcoin for a couple of years now and back in the day, since it started and back in the day, back in them, Nate used to roll around as a, as a truck driver, if I understand correctly, saving his money, stacking sets, man, no, I, I, the reason I people double to check whatever wallet you plan on using and do never, ever, ever, ever enter your keys into a digital device that is connected to the internet. We've seen a string of new apps on these app stores like Apple and Google that pretend to be existing wallets that are only available on the desktop. They are not legit. There's a, there is a new string of them. This was brought to everybody's attention by Oscar P at O S C Pacey and there's a new Electrum wallet on the app store Electrum doesn't have a mobile app and there's all kinds of other apps Lumi, samurai wallet, Jack's Liberty, Jack's Liberty wallet management Phantom wallet of a protocol assets trade sparrow was spoofed the other day, these apps, there's no mobile app that you should be using with your seed phrases from any existing wallet that you're using that holds any significant amount of Bitcoin. If you happen to use a hot wallet, use a fresh, use a hot app, wallet, whatever. If you happen to use one of these devices, make sure you're using a brand new wallet that it has generated. And you're only going to use minimal amount of Bitcoin. If should you do it like if you're going to take cash and you're going out for the day, that amount of Bitcoin, not, not thousands and thousands of dollars or even your, your stack that these people are unscrupulous, they have the morals and they do not care. They want your Bitcoin. Please be careful. And even with sparrow, there are methods that you can verify that the app is legit. And I, I, I can put a link in the nest. I don't want to populate it yet, which it's cool with Alex. And super easy to do because I'm a boomer and I did it yesterday. Like super easy. It's a one, two, three, I think four steps. It involves your terminal and just copy and paste. Yeah. Yeah. There's, there's a, there's a path or an FAQ on how to do it on sparrow. Once, once you go to download it, it's how to verify right below it. So please take the time to learn. Um, yeah. And don't lose your Bitcoin.

A highlight from BREAKING: Bitcoin Spot ETF to be Approved Friday!? | EP 866

"It's all going to zero against Bitcoin. It's going up for everyone. Bitcoin! You're against Bitcoin, you're against freedom. Yo, welcome to another episode of Simply Bitcoin Live, you're your number one source for the peaceful Bitcoin revolution covered breaking news, culture, and medic warfare. We will be your guide through the separation of money and state. Today is November 13th, 2023. I hope everyone had an amazing weekend. Breaking news, it seems like the deadline for whether or not the spot Bitcoin ETF will be approved in 2023 is going to be November 17th. It's coming up. It's coming up in a couple of days. What are they going to say? Are they going to approve it? Are they not going to approve it? I definitely think it's going to be one of those things where it's like pump up on the news and then giant sell off, you know, because that's what always happens if you've been in the space for a while. But it's it's absolutely bonkers that we've we've gotten to this point. Now, we've talked a lot about what the downsides and what the upsides of of a Bitcoin spot of a spot Bitcoin ETF are going to be. Obviously, a lot more liquidity going into the market. I definitely believe it will make number go up. But like Caitlin Long said when she came on Simply Bitcoin IRL and Lawrence Lippard, you know, it also risks for for rehypothecation of Bitcoin in the selling of paper Bitcoin. Now, obviously, I don't think it's going to be as easy to do than how they did that in the gold market due to gold's physical characteristics and due to Bitcoin's unique ability of being able to be transported and custody very easily, you know, for pennies on the dollar, you could send it anywhere around the world. You could take self custody of Bitcoin, millions, billions, theoretically trillions of dollars by writing down 12 words, 24 words, not to mention, you know, using multisig if you want to beef up your security setup. So actual the ability for you to take custody of it very quickly and very efficiently, I think is going to protect it from what they did to gold. But that's not to say that they're not going to try. Like I think the long term play here based on the FinCEN, you know, what's going on with FinCEN, which we're going to talk about tomorrow, how they're demonizing mixing services. But the things are so broad that it's like a single use address counts as of some type of mixing. And then the words are what I would call the Freudian slip from Elizabeth Warren, basically finally saying the quiet part out loud because Bitcoin exposes all incentives after all, finally admitting that, you know, self custody is some type of this highly sophisticated way of money laundering, of skirting regulations. Right. Like and of course, they're planting the seed. That's why they come up with these words, unhosted wallet, you know, custody wallet, non custodial wallet. Right. They're trying to plant the seeds in the uninformed populace that somehow self custody is dangerous. Well, the reason they're doing that is because self custody is the revolution. And if enough people take self custody will win and there's nothing they can do about it. So it's pretty crazy that the that the date to come is on Friday. But again, all of this would be rumors. All of this would be a big nothing burger. But actually, the CEO of Grayscale, which is one of those companies they hold up, not only do they hold an F ton of Bitcoin, but it's also one of those companies that have applied to file a spot Bitcoin ETF, has been hinting at some things on Twitter. He tweeted it out very, very early this morning before right before eight a .m. Eastern Time. So, I mean, it looks like. There could be a potential approval of a spot Bitcoin ETF on Friday. And if it was one, it wouldn't just be just one approved. There'd be multiple spot Bitcoin ETFs approved. Right. So that's what's going on right now. That's the breaking news. We're going to cover it like always. We're going to analyze it. We're going to show you guys all the details. We're going to make the case like we always do. Anyways, no more delay. I want to bring up my legendary co -host, always optimistic, already smiling, giant smile. The chat's on point. The chat is losing their mind today. It's totally irrelevant to the conversation. Don't go look in the chat. It's probably inappropriate for you guys at work. But yeah, chat's undefeated over here. They're cracking me up. Anyways, yeah, Nico, what a crazy weekend. And it really just goes to show what we've been talking about on the show for months now that we are in the then they fight you stage. This is the separation of money and state and things are getting frothy, not only the price, but everything going on around Bitcoin is starting to become a point of contention. I think we've been talking about this all year, that the stance on Bitcoin from any quote unquote authority figure is the defining conversation right now. Of course, this was all going on behind the scenes and now it's becoming public and it's all happening publicly. And this is why I think there is so much uproar about it all, because now finally, everything from behind the scenes is being made public and being brought to light. So I think it's more important than ever to do what we always tell you guys to make sure that your Bitcoin is in cold storage, that you don't have Bitcoin on exchanges, that you are huddling them Bitcoin because we know that they don't want us to be in the escape route. We've said it before. You know, they don't want an exit route. And Bitcoin is that exit route. And we've been telling you guys constantly the on and off ramps are the chokeholds, like we've known this for a while and now it's heating up. So hopefully we can move forward. Hopefully there will be pushback. And as an individual, if you're on the Bitcoin standard, the Bitcoin circular economy already, what's this mean to you? Just some roller coaster rides and part of the Bitcoin fund. So we'll get a wine. All right. I'm getting trolled. I'm getting trolled. Go. That's another thing to kind of bring up. And we'll bring up the latest development on the FinCEN and stuff that happened over the weekend. We'll cover that on tomorrow's episode. But one thing's for sure, guys, we say this in the beginning of the show. It is our motto. We'll be your guide to the separation of money and state. We are definitely entering the Then They Fight You stage. That's for sure. You have to take action. Get involved. Don't be just a bystander looking at what's happening. Get involved. And unfortunately, I think over the long term, I do agree with the theory from the book The Sovereign Individual, where information technologies and the ability for individuals to opt out, opt into whatever money they choose to use is going to make politics irrelevant over the long term. I completely agree with that. But what worries me and what keeps me up at night is the transitional period. And during the transitional period, I do think that politics are somewhat important. I do think that they can make life very, very difficult for you if you are holding Bitcoin and you live in a certain jurisdiction. So unless you want to keep moving from place to place, to place and place, it's important that you get involved, right? Whether that is making memes, commenting, making videos, just highlighting the lies and the misrepresentations, like what happened with Elizabeth Warren in the Wall Street Journal a couple of weeks ago. The more attention we call to that, the better we position ourselves, right? And the key is to win over the adoption race. We have to orange pill as many people as humanly possible, as quickly as possible, so that there's enough people holding Bitcoin in the US that if any politician tries to recommend anti -Bitcoin legislation, it becomes unpassable. And then the example that I would give to this would be the gun lobby, right? Any time you tried to pass a gun law in the United States, because so many people own guns, it just becomes impossible to pass, right? Hopefully we get to that much Bitcoin adoption in the United States very quickly, that any type of Elizabeth Warren type of regulation, any type of maneuvering and scheming just gets shut down just because it's so unpopular with everybody. But we're not we're not quite there yet. Bitcoin right now is still in the shadows. Like that's the reality. Like people know about Bitcoin. People know about crypto. They know about these things. They still think crypto and Bitcoin are the same thing. But it really comes down to us to really educate the masses. And I'm not talking about just me and Opti. I'm talking about everyone in the chat. Take it upon yourself. Take agency, take action. Orange pill as many people around you. Right. This is all about the individual pushing this forward. That's how we win. We win over the hearts and minds of people. It's not left versus right. That's the divide and conquer strategy. It's really the party of orange, party of peace, Bitcoin, opportunity, prosperity, versus a party of green, which is a party which is the future they want us living in, which is a party of central bank digital currencies, nihilism, slavery, confiscation, all of that bad stuff. So you got to decide what future do you want your children to be living in? I want my children to be living in a Bitcoin future. Well, we got to stand up and stand up for your right. Anyways, everybody, let's let's move on to the numbers. Yeah, I know, right. It's a good line. It's a good line. All right, everybody, let's move on to the numbers. We got a lot to talk about. Let's check it out.

A highlight from MARKETS DAILY: Crypto Update | What JPMorgan Analysts Missed About Bitcoin's Rally

"This episode of Markets Daily is sponsored by CME Group and PayPal. So you don't miss an episode, be sure to follow the podcast on your platform of choice and turn on notifications. And just a reminder, CoinDesk is a news source and does not provide investment advice. Now a markets roundup. After the hectic activity at the end of last week as markets reacted to BlackRock's filing of an EtherSpot ETF proposal, the weekend seemed like an oasis of calm. So far today, the market looks mixed. According to Coindesk Indices, at 9 a .m. Eastern Time this morning, Bitcoin was down two thirds of a percent over the past 24 hours, trading at $36 ,873. Ether was up one third, trading at $2 ,059. Elsewhere, Filecoin was up 14%, Cosmos was up 10%, Optimism and the Lido DAO token were up 5%. Solana was down 1 % after what has been an astonishing run. Over the past week, the asset is up over 40%. You may remember that in an early October episode, I pulled out the average performance of Bitcoin for the month of October going back to 2010, which was 27%. I calculated that if Bitcoin achieved that average performance during the month, the price would reach just over $34 ,000. Well, that's pretty much what happened. Do please note, I am not saying I know where the price is going, and the October result was pure coincidence, I don't have a crystal ball. But let's try the same exercise for November just for fun. November historically has been on average an even better month than October, with an average performance going back to 2011 of 44%. If this November meets its average, and it's a big if, that would put the Bitcoin price at just over $49 ,000. It's a pleasant thing to keep in mind. In macro indicators, today I have more news from the University of Michigan Consumer Survey. You may remember a couple of weeks ago, I talked about why this survey was worth watching. It's because of what it says about how consumers are feeling, which could impact future spending. Well, on Friday, we got the details for October, and there are some worrying signals in there. Inflation expectations one year out are now at 4 .4%, much higher than the expected 4%, and higher than September's 4 .2%. This is the highest level since May, which signals that the rate hikes are not doing what they're supposed to do, which is bring down corporate and consumer spending and reset expectations. The fact that consumer inflation expectations are more than double the official target is not nearly as worrying as the fact that they are heading up. And it's especially relevant since it is something Fed Chair Jerome Powell has said he keeps an eye on, as inflation expectations can influence behavior. This rise in the University of Michigan's survey result further confirms that rate cuts are not on the table just yet, and probably won't be for a while, at least until this number comes down to close to 2%. The University of Michigan inflation expectations for five years out also came in higher than expected at 3 .2%. This is lower than the 12 -month expectations, which is good, but it does send the signal that the Fed's inflation target won't be reached even in five years.

A highlight from Crypto Update | What JPMorgan Analysts Missed About Bitcoin's Rally

A highlight from Meet Chicago Northwest with Mario Farfan

"Army veteran Mario Farfan is the account executive of meek Chicago Northwest an organization that is bringing Conferences and meetings to the northwest Chicago suburbs coming up next on veteran on the move Welcome to veteran on the move if you're a veteran in transition an entrepreneur wannabe or someone still stuck in that Jop trying to escape this podcast is dedicated to your success And now your host Joe crane Service isn't just what Navy Federal Credit Union does It's who they are That's why Navy Federal created tools to help you earn and save more learn more at Navy federal org slash join Hey today, we're talking with army veteran Mario Farfan from meek Chicago Northwest Mario welcome to the show We're looking forward to hearing which good things you're doing up there in Chicagoland So before we talk about all that takes back to us what you did in the army Yeah, absolutely. Thank you, Joe. Thank you for inviting me here today Excited to be on your podcast to share my story a little bit So, uh, well, I joined our military right at the high school literally after the graduation party the next day I was in the car with the with the recruiter Headed to all the preparation and in the other paperwork administrative stuff. So that was 19 night August 1994 I ride the South Carolina for Jackson for basic training Awesome, and you're looking through your bio your parents were Guatemalan immigrants, right? Yes. Yes, they were going from Guatemala to Chicago I came here after a long wait a wait time back in the 70s and They started their their journey in Chicago in Chicago the west side of Chicago actually humble park And that's where I was born But then they ended up moving closer to the north side And I speak in street corners because I'm from that era in Chicago is something about Chicago I know you I know you from Kansas City you mentioned as we talked earlier So we grew up on Winnipeg and Broadway, which is essentially the north side. They call it Edgewater now Back in the in the early 80s a very different area there that it is now a lot of Cambodian and Vietnamese refugees And immigrants that came after the Vietnam War. I did not know this Obviously as I got older I went back and there's a digging around how I grew up Why was there so many, you know different ethnicities? So I yes, I grew up in Chicago border ways in Chicago, correct? Yes, and so Tell us a little bit about some of the things you did while you're in the army Yeah, so I was I chose my MLS was 94 Bravo back then I think it's changed 92 golf now, which is a cook essentially my thinking a 17 year old person getting Advice from many different people that weren't an army They were like Mario choose a job that it's gonna you know, not be too strenuous or dangerous So you're not gonna so I wasn't gonna be an infantry or Airborne Ranger. I knew that right away So I decided that you know, and I was interested in cooking my mother She you know love to cook so I said to myself it would be something interesting to venture in So I was a I was a cook in the military Definitely had a lot of friends because we were out in the field You know, we had the nice kitchen trailer set up with hot coffee and grill and all my military friends had to eat those MRE So they were like, hey Mario, you know, hook me up with something hot stuff like that So I definitely gained a lot of friends which was pretty cool because I started doing networking back then. I just didn't know it Yeah, great experience. So talk about your transition out of the army. Was it something you're expecting to come on quick? Were you prepared unprepared? I would say I was policy. I'm prepared to be honest So I got out on night 99. I was in Germany my last stop At the time so it was more of a pressure to stay in. That's what I remember the most It was a lot of fear a lot of you know, high pressure to stay in like what are you gonna do? So then life is not great You know stay here, you know, you can retire which I know many people do I know many people Friends that I have still they retired in Germany. They ended up just living to staying there, but my family at the time Was going through a struggle financially and I felt like I need to come home and just be back with them and support them as much as I could so I They gave me my paperwork and I was on my own. Basically. I got back to Chicago, which is very difficult right because Chicago Back, this is like 1999 2000. So just trying to you know, figure all of it out It's a lot right because it's benefits. There's paperwork. There's things that we just don't know about and I'll be honest the last Ten twenty years. I'm learning more and more, right? I Know too recently. There's just many benefits of veterans have that. We just don't know about especially when it comes to entrepreneur small business Something that I want to mention in in 2015 I started a Hispanic chamber out here in the suburbs and part of that was just thinking about how to look out for you know Hispanic business owners So now I'm thinking about better veteran business owners because I do run into them Hispanic or non -hispanic and they talk to me and say you know what? We we need better resources for our for our veteran business owners that are either starting a business On the middle of their business or just trying to figure out how to take their business to the next level So I'm always thinking about that. I'm always thinking about that. I am I am on me Chicago Northwest. That's my full -time job So so that that I'm able to incorporate it because I am I still continue to meet People from from that walk of life and as a veteran myself, I didn't have my own business, right? But If I had that information, who knows right 20 years ago Whatever 24 years ago who knows what would have happened to me when I came back, but I did what most veterans do I enrolled in college right away. It just tried to get out there in civilian life I began a 20 20 year career in banking. That's what I ended up doing so But so yes, I was a banker Assistant manager branch manager for 15 years and a regional manager up to a business banker So I did all facets of banking retail banking when it comes to helping small businesses and that's where I end in my career and and And then I decided to take a another a different Turn in my career into the what I'm doing now with me Chicago Northwest is you know working with us so still working with businesses right because associations nonprofits Diversity clubs sports clubs. Those are all businesses, right? So now all we do now in Chicago, Northwest we talk to them We we bring we try to invite them nationally, right or even internationally to the Northwest suburbs They come out and see what we have to offer so they can have the conferences the conventions or their meetings here. So That was a long answer. I know Back to what you said if I just one of five my transition If I had to rate it, I'll probably give it a one or two. It was it was it wasn't it was not great Yeah, it was not great. So sounds like you ultimately landed Well now I don't I'm not real familiar with the Chicago suburbs But is the Northwest Chicago suburbs primarily Hispanic or have a heavily Hispanic influence or I know she says something about you were targeting more Hispanic Since you're probably fluent in Spanish targeting the Spanish business network Yeah, great question so Chicago in itself state of Illinois itself has a large Hispanic population in itself city Chicago obviously is the largest city which is a heavy heavy Hispanic presence in the suburbs is starting to change, right? You have also an Asian presence Middle Eastern Indian presence, so it's starting to change very very a lot of Backgrounds and cultures Polish as well are out here in the suburbs It's all a mix but I would say definitely in the last 10 20 years the suburbs people have migrated Either to work out here in the suburbs to live out here go to school out here Public schools is a challenge, right? I I went to public schools. So hey, I made it I mean, I made it but it's not it's not easy Joe. I'll tell you that especially when I grew up in the 80s was definitely not easy, but So the answer to that would be yeah Yes, the the suburbs are being more diverse across not just Hispanic so the reason I started the Hispanic Chamber Joe because there's this Hispanic chamber in the city downtown on most people that live in the suburbs don't want to travel You know, it could be an hour for traffic an hour into the city just to go get resources and help So I figured why not have something here for them where they can go and get resources Find out about grants or how to start a business or get the paperwork in order So that's kind of how why I started to need I need that I saw in the suburbs in the middle Which wasn't there awesome? How are you? Pretty good. Um, you know, just trying to suss out what you got going on in the background there. Mike's got a blurred background for the first time in the history of all our podcasts. Um, I can only imagine what you're hiding. I explained this to you before we started recording. I did not make my bed. It's a messy bed in the background. That's the only reason I didn't want to keep you, you know, waiting before we started recording. I know you're a busy guy. You woke up immediately before the podcast. Um, all right, Mike, I just want to run through basically as many teams as possible today. I know you're watching as many games as you can, and I want to hit as many teams as we can, but I'm going to just, I'm going to throw them at you in the form of some buyer cells. If that works for you. And we're going to start in the Eastern Conference. Um, just, just, we're going to rip hot right off the jump here. All right, Mike, buy or sell. The Sixers are currently the best team in the East. Like currently? Like today? As of this moment, I'm not talking about record. I'm not talking about any of that. I'm just, just vibes, feels, talent, et cetera. Uh, yeah, I, I'm, I'd have to buy, I, I would have to buy. They're playing great. They just beat the Celtics who technically have a higher net rating, but you know, that game could have gone either way, et cetera. Cut it off. It's a, hey, Kirstaps Porzingis wide open three with five seconds to go. It was also like a 13 point game with two minutes left and it took like a very, I said, I'm buying. I said, I'm buying. But then you immediately started caveating it very quickly. I'm buying, um, I bought it very skeptically. I love, uh, I think Nick Nurse's impact is pretty transparent to anyone who's watched this team play their offense, ball movement, pace, all that sort of stuff. Tyrese Maxey looks really good. One player of the week in the opening week of this year, player of the month, whatever player of the week. I don't even know. Whatever. He's been really awesome, um, averaging just all star numbers and efficient shooting splits and he looks really great. He is him, Luca and Jokic are the only guys I think at like 25, five and five right now are 27 something crazy. It's just those three guys. I got to look up what it is. Didn't know that. Welcome to Cafe Bitcoin, everybody. Happy Friday. Good morning, Sam. Happy Friday, guys. Peter, what's going on? Oh, you know, just recovering from yesterday's euphoria and, you know, trying to be humble about it. And I'm really I'm actually really wondering if if Custodia is going to, you know, potentially set a new example for how banks can do custody of Bitcoin. What makes you think that? Did you read their white paper? I did. I did not read the white paper. I have listened to Lisa Huff and Caitlin talk about it quite a bit. The reason I say it is because, you know, I watch a lot of influencers, I guess they are on on YouTube, and quite a few of them have mentioned Custodia as, you know, kind of a signal and a benchmark of of things that are coming. And, you know, there's other banks that I know want to get into the space because, you know, it's there's there's money to be made. Right. And when there's money to be made, people want to get in. And I'm just hoping that they kind of follow Custodia's, you know, protocol for for holding Bitcoin as a as a fully reserved bank. I think that's just I think that's amazing news, actually. I think it's I think it's a benchmark in in what's going on with with Bitcoin.

A highlight from Crypto Update | What Would It Take to Get Bitcoin to $40K?

"This episode of Markets Daily is sponsored by CME Group and PayPal. It's Friday, November 10th, 2023, and this is Markets Daily from Coindesk. My name is Noelle Acheson, Coindesk collaborator and author of the Crypto is Macro Now newsletter on Substack. On today's show, we're talking about crypto market dynamics, a possible Ether spot ETF, a shift in rates expectations, and more. So you don't miss an episode, be sure to follow the podcast on your platform of choice and turn on notifications. And just a reminder, Coindesk is a news source and does not provide investment advice. Now, a markets roundup. In crypto markets, yesterday saw a bit of a narrative pivot. After Bitcoin's strong surge yesterday, it pulled back, but is still up almost 6 % over the past week. According to Coindesk Indices, at 9 a .m. Eastern time today, Bitcoin was down eight tenths over the past 24 hours, trading at $36 ,962. Ether was where most of the large cap action was. Earlier today, Ether was up almost 8%, trading at $2 ,074. It is up 15 % over the past week. Ether's strong outperformance this week, yesterday and today, can be attributed to the news that BlackRock, the largest asset manager in the world, has filed for an Ether spot ETF. This step makes sense as, in principle, the same market factors that would approve a Bitcoin spot ETF are present for Ether. The asset is not as large in market cap or as liquid as Bitcoin. That is not a prerequisite for an ETF wrapper. And nor should the proposal be impacted by the lack of regulatory clarity around Ether, whether or not it is a security. The ETF shares will be securities. The underlying asset could be or not. It shouldn't matter. The SEC will be mainly concerned with market transparency, which is essentially the same for both assets. There could, however, be some issues around whether or not staking rewards could be distributed. That might become a legal question. As with Bitcoin, a listed spot Ether ETF in the US could bring in a lot of new demand, especially since Ether has notably underperformed Bitcoin so far this year. It's still early days in this process, and obviously the ecosystem can't count on SEC chair Gary Gensler's cooperation. But it's a very interesting development that could have an impact on the relative performance of Ether going forward. It seems to also be impacting what are known as Ethereum ecosystem tokens. Optimism is up 7 % over the past 24 hours. Arbitrum is up 4%. And the Lido DAO token is up 17%. In macro indicators, earlier this week, I talked about why we should pay attention to what US Federal Reserve officials are saying. Today, I'm going to focus on one particular official, Fed chair Jerome Powell. Speaking at an IMF conference yesterday, Chair Powell sounded more hawkish than many had expected. Hawkish in Fed speak means talking interest rates up, while dovish talk suggests rates will come down. I don't know where these terms came from, but I think of it as hawks generally fly higher than doves. Anyway, back to Powell. Many were expecting to hear the same sort of neutral tone that he had at the recent FOMC press conference, in which he said that long -term US yields could take care of some of the necessary tightening of economic conditions. Back then, 10 -year Treasury yields were above 4 .9%. Since then, largely encouraged by Powell's remarks and by signs that the jobs market is finally cooling, yields have corrected sharply, down to below 4 .5 % yesterday. So, it's fair to assume that maybe the Federal Reserve won't be so confident that it can pause because long -term yields are high when they're coming down. Sure enough, Powell's words yesterday included phrases such as, and I quote, if it becomes appropriate to tighten policy further, we will not hesitate to do so, end quote. Powell also stressed that the Fed was not confident that it had achieved the appropriate policy stance to bring inflation down to 2%. Basically, this was Powell telling the market that it was wrong to assume peak rates were in. Sure enough, yields started heading up again, passing above 4 .6 % yesterday. This morning, they are settling back and are currently at 4 .57%. Stocks also reacted, more than undoing the week's gains. In the US, the S &P 500 dropped 0 .8%, the NASDAQ dropped almost 1%, and the Dow Jones fell by over 0 .6%. Futures this morning are pointing to a modest recovery on the open.

"And then the big one, emea doka, suspended for the season for violating team rules team policy with the Celtics. I guess we keep the focus on the coaching change. Emea doka, who was instrumental to this team's success. Really broke them of some bad habits they had in the first two months of the season. That helped catapult them into one of the best teams in basketball in the final 5 months of the season. He is replaced by Joe Missoula, 34 years old, was a back bench guy last year. It was going to get promoted because will hardy left for the Utah job. But jomo is really was a back bench guy last year. Chris harring, how big a deal is this? This is a team that is bringing back the core of the group that made it to the finals, but we just talked about Steve Nash, coaching matters in the NBA. How big a deal is email going out and Joe Missoula coming in? I think it's potentially a huge deal. Like granted, I think if you had to kind of like create a perfect storm of stuff that gets NBA attention and the attention of TMZ and the fans, you would incorporate the idea of something potentially sketchy happening with a coach and someone consensual or not and the coach being married or engaged to a celebrity. Like it had all that, but to me what made this really interesting was the idea of exactly what you just said. It was really important to this team. Like they looked like they were off the rails last year. I was guilty and I think a lot of us were guilty of thinking that when Marcus smart spoke up about Jalen Brown and Jason Tatum not moving the ball enough that it had the potential to really kill stuff in the locker room to hurt the team to, you know, you started to have the discussion. I remember we had the discussion on open floor about whether one of them should be traded. What should happen and all of a sudden, you know, the calendar starts to turn and the Celtics are essentially the best team in basketball because you don't get basically broke them up those habits and said, this isn't good enough. This isn't going to get it done. Which is exceptionally rare for a first time rookie head coach to say. So it just makes me wonder, like, what does this look like now? Does the team carry over enough of the good habits that they picked up under ema's time there? Do they even run it? Do they have enough talent to kind of overcome a lot of the problems that they might have anyway? It's kind of what I'm wondering about. I don't think we know enough about Joe Missoula yet. What I will say just in some of the preseason stuff, he'd already kind of been tinkering with just different looks and different lineups. And the Celtics obviously being a team that's pretty comfortable having two bigs on the floor at a time. Saw plenty of action where they really were just going with one at a time. So I'm really intrigued to see how it looks. I think that there's a case to be made that they've got enough talent, especially now after adding brogden that the coaching might not matter right up front. At the very beginning, it could be something that's more of a playoff question. But I think it's hugely consequential. And I think we'll get a chance to see that. At some point over the course of the year, how good Mozilla is as a coach and how much it actually matters, given how much talent he's got. Yeah, listen, this is going to be one of those really great tests of like, how much a coach matters period, right? Like coaches matter. Having a really great coach can make a difference, having a really crappy coach can make a difference. Most coaches in the NBA are in the wide middle. But the Celtics are a team that made the finals with emea udoka and will now see if they can make a finals without give me udoka. And some of that will be a reflection on his absence and on the cloud that it cast over them. Some of it will be reflected on Joe Missoula and his abilities. And a lot of it will be a reflection simply on their core group. And whether the chemistry that we saw that got them to the finals, whether that's sustainable, because they're still doubts. I talked to a scout last week and again, this is during the course of Maddox and I canvassing the scouts for the preview issue. But, you know, somebody that talked to was like, listen, I'm still not entirely convinced that jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum have got this figured out in perpetuity or that Marcus smart will stay on point in perpetuity. It was fragile enough that they needed emu doka to go old school on them to call everybody on the carpet and that Marcus smarter to call out guys. All that happened. So you fix it once. It can come apart again. Nothing this is permanent. It's still a fairly young team at its core, at least with their most important players. Then you got the Robert Williams stuff and his health. You know, there are plenty of wild cards in all of this. And having stability at the coaching position, I think, just casting that stuff into doubt. And besides, on top of that, listen, everybody, almost universally across the league believes that Chris Middleton had been healthy. It's the buck's not the Celtics in the finals. We'll never know for sure. That's not to say that there's any asterisk or anything. It's just to say, hey, look, some stuff had to go their way. It may not go their way this season. And you've got the sixers who should be stronger. The nets who, as we just discussed, should be stronger. You've got a rising raptors team, the heat aren't going anywhere. I don't think. It's a lot to get through. Enough that I'm not expecting the Celtics to repeat. So I was just going to say, emea doke is important is there in the abstract and in the specifics when you look back at last season, like in the abstract, the way he built that defense. Years passed under Brad Stevens, they were a more traditional blitzing defense, didn't switch everything, played a more basic system. Comes in and revamps the defense and says, we're switching everything. And it took them some time to figure it out, but once they did, they became an absolutely terrifying defense. In terms of specifics, email DOCA from a very early time in his tenure. Was a supporter of Marcus smart. And look, he stuck by Marcus smart as his primary playmaker through a lot of tough times early on. I know this because, I mean, God, I would, I would all but show up at the NBC sports Boston studios in like Alonso ball Jersey. Like that's how down on Marcus smart, I was as a point guard. I didn't buy it. I didn't believe it was the right decision to say to Marcus smart you're a guy. I thought he was better as kind of a Swiss Army knife type of player. He proved everybody wrong. You know, taking that team to the finals and proving that he was a high level playmaker. Robert Williams, so you mentioned. Robert Williams coming into last season, had a reputation for being a little bit soft, of not playing through injuries. And I remember vividly being there. And he Mayo doka talking about Robert Williams, impromptu bringing up Robert's got to play through this. Robert's got to play through that. Gotta play through pain. Gotta be tougher. And that had an effect in April, May and June, when Robert Williams was out there dragging that left knee around, helping the Celtics get to the final. So he was instrumental in every possible way in getting that team to where they are. Now, Joe, I've known Joe for a few years now, incredibly bright guy, had a lot to do with the defensive changes they made last year. That was kind of his department or part of his responsibilities last year. And to Chris haring's point, I don't know that we're going to be able to draw any conclusions in the first couple of months of the season because this team is just built to play well in the regular season. They've figured some things out. They've learned how to play together. They've learned the defense. They've learned each other. Brogden, assuming he's what he's saying is true. He's bought into being kind of a reserve once again with this team or at least not being a primary point guard. Where we're going to figure it out is the playoffs, right? I mean the Celtics went to what a couple of game 7s in the Conference Finals and the conference semifinals. That's where coaching comes into play. That's where you have to be a great strategist. Where do you have to be great at making adjustments? And that's when we'll learn about Joe. Joe, he was a finalist for the jazz job last year. He's probably a couple of years away at most from getting a head coaching job somewhere else. So this is not somebody just kind of, you know, they're taking a flyer on. This is somebody that a lot of people across the league are very high on. But Rohan, I just, I saw firsthand how important email DOCA was this team's success last year. And just kind of swapping him out, I think there should be some concern might be too strong a word at this point, but there should be some questions about whether it will be as seamless as people hope. I mean, I think there's absolutely questions. They were 18 and 21, nearly halfway into the season last year. Remember, January, but yeah, a lot of people in and out of Boston credit you don't come for that turnaround. I mean, you think about Brad Stevens, who is universally agreed upon, one of the best coaches in the league. You look at, you know, during his entire tenure, one of the best coaches in the league, he arguably had teams that were maybe even a little bit more talented or had more depth than you doka did, couldn't make the finals, and you Joker does it in his first year. I mean, he goes through Giannis, he goes through a very well coached heat team that was the number one seed, they went to huge road games facing elimination, game 7 in Miami game 6 against Milwaukee. I also think just to go on court for a second here, I think there has to be a little bit of concern as well about the front court right now. I mean, they went from having maybe the deepest and best front court in the league to Horford Horford had a full year off before last season. Now he's coming off this big playoff run. He's 36 years old. Are they do they have the luxury of managing his minutes? Will he be able to be fresh enough for the playoffs like he was last year? Williams is hurt, can he stay healthy through an entire playoff run? I think grant Williams is very, very good. He's in a contract here, which can kind of cut either way. I know a lot of people are talking Sam Hauser, the guy, you know, I'm curious to see who steps up because a huge key to their defense is a lot of teams kind of hide bad defenders on corner three point shooters. The Celtics don't hide Robert Williams. He's a one man wrecking crew. Frankly, I think the best defender on that team even better. And then the defensive player of the year and Marcus smart Horford is a massive key to that defensive. If those guys are not the same, then their defense is not the same and there's a little bit of a cascading effect and that's a very difficult thing for Joe missile to have to deal with. Yeah, I agree. The front court does concern me. Robert Williams is out for at least a couple of months now. I thought the Blake Griffin signing was curious, Blake's fine, and I think he's more versatile than some of the other guys that were out there, but I would have, I would have gone to the Dwight Howard direction, you know, even if Robert Williams and when Robert Williams comes back, the Eastern Conference is loaded with really strong big men, physical teams, whether it's Philadelphia, Milwaukee, I mean, there's just a lot of physical teams in the top tier of the Eastern Conference and Blake, the Celtics have run the benefit of the doubt in terms of personnel moves that made all the right ones over the last couple of years, but I thought that was definitely curious to do. But look, they've got the talent to get right back to the finals. It's just, we'll see how it all kind of comes together with the new voice there on the sideline. Any other thoughts on the Celtics? I could just talk about them all day long because I have to do that. I spent way too much time over there. All right, so I want to talk about the Philadelphia 76ers right now. It's been pretty interesting a few months in Philadelphia. When they got knocked out of the playoffs last year, I think there were questions about just how good this team could be. I mean, James Harden did not look like the James Harden we saw during his years in Houston, even that first year in Brooklyn. You had Joel embiid out there saying, you know, don't expect James Harden to be that guy anymore. He's a little bit different at this stage. And they go out and they have a pretty strong off season. They get a guy like PJ Tucker who was just like, that missing piece on a lot of winning teams, Lucy has been over the last few years. Hardin's looked pretty good in pre season embiid, looks like he's gonna be the same Joel embiid, tyrese maxi, looks like he's someone that's gonna take another big step. Harry, how bullish are you, if at all, on the 76ers? I really like them, man. And it's weird because there was a part of me that, you know, just watching how hard and looked last year that I was just kind of out on them generally. I think a lot of people were we have that annual kind of James Harden isn't that good conversation, which that's probably strong, but you can't trust them in the playoffs. There's a part of me that wants to trust this team a little bit. A lot of it is rooted in what you just brought up with maxi. I think he is a guy that I feel like can take some of the pressure off of hard not to where you would necessarily trust him more in the playoffs. But if he's going to be that aggressive and can put up 30 spots like he did, whatever game that was against the raptors, if he's going to do that, you might not need harden to be quite as great at times or to do as much or to be that guy all the time alongside embiid. Part of me just kind of feels like embiid. I know we have a roundtable that's going to go out soon about our predictions for this season. I put him bead as my MVP favorite this year. I kind of feel like obviously it's burned him to not be named MVP either the last two years. I think he realizes now that he's got to be basically healthy all the time, which is kind of crazy to think about the fact that he's basically been pretty healthy the last couple of years. And that it hasn't quite been enough if you had said that along with the fact that he would have James Harden on the same you'd probably expect more out of this team. But I just kind of feel like this team, some of the depth they had, they went out and got melted and we were talking about him in the first part of this podcast. The fact that they have him, can they get enough out of Tobias Harris? Can they get a little bit out of montrez harrell who they got this off season? I just kind of feel like there's enough here to put a real scare into somebody. If pardon is even remotely good in the playoffs, I just kind of feel like he's ready to some extent. I feel like Doc has been criticized to the point where it's almost a little bit too much, even if you take issue with some things how much he was willing to use Deandre Jordan at times. I understand it. He's not on this roster anymore. He's done Doc fired once before. By the way, Deandre Deandre was didn't like Denver sign him like right away. Like wasn't he? It was the weirdest signing of the whole off season because I actually loved Denver's off season, but that was like, you know, the way that woes and shops kind of go back and forth and they've got their giraffes ready because those essentially because there's been all this tampering going on. But who's tampering for Deandre Jordan?

"They're going to be in the mix for buyout guys. Just looking at on the court, you know, Simmons at the end of the day, he's finally playing the role we've all wanted him to play. He doesn't have to handle the ball. He doesn't have to worry about a 7 footer who needs post touches, clogging up the paint. I think there's a lot of potential here for them to be really, really good and even amid all the drama. Even amid all the James Harden drama from two years ago, when he joins the team, amid the drama last year when he's trying to get the trade out. When the guys have been on the floor, outside of that Celtic series where Katie look gas, they've generally played well together. So I swing wildly back and forth on this team, but I'm describing myself in an in period right now. I'm all in on the nets. I think they have a chance to be fantastic. I really do. As crazy as it sounds, like I think they could be, they could ball. I do want to circle back to something that has been mentioned, but I think it's getting glossed over a little bit. And I just think it will be something interesting to watch. For all the stuff that Durant said over the summer, not publicly, but just obviously through the trade request. He wanted Steve Nash out, what did Sean marks out? There were a lot of people that from the outside looking in weren't necessarily that he wanted Steve Nash out because Steve Nash did not really do all that well. In my opinion, it's certainly not in the playoffs. Where ISO after ISO, we're just watching Durant kind of get loaded up on. And lose the ball and really not have any way out. Essentially. Don't forget Christie. Don't forget, ISO after ISO against the best offensive team in the league. Yeah, they're just nothing else. There was nothing else, and it was just kind of like, I don't know. It would be going too far into the past, but I remember thinking that this was the first time coach who never had a head coaching job before getting premier talent and I remember questioning that aspect of what the nets were doing at the time. But anyway, neither here nor there, what does that look like when they, when we talk about them, maybe having the most talent in the east or in the league even, but just kind of on a level playing field, like nobody would say that they have the best coach. I think it's really interesting that they brought an Igor coca sov. To this team, looking at them in the preseason, they had stuff that looked a lot different. But it'll also be interesting like it for whatever reason they're struggling for any number of reasons we've all talked about Kyrie and how, you know, him putting his finger to the wind and trying to figure out what he wants to say on a given day. There are all sorts of things that could break this team down. But also like if Nash is underperforming or failing this group in some way, does that kind of open the door for there to be a coaching change with someone that is maybe a little bit more experienced as a head coach who has a little bit more creativity the way he calls plays. I'm just interested to see it. Maybe that would be a step too far given that the team just vouch for Nash and said that they wouldn't let him go in light of what Katie was asking for, but in some ways maybe that softens some of the hard feelings that were there before anyway. I don't know. It'll be an interesting team to watch. I don't see them as the favorite.

I don't see how you can beat that. Here they are. Chris mannix and Howard back. And we are back crossover NBA podcast Chris mannix Howard's Beck with a new cast of characters joining us for part two of the Sports Illustrated NBA mega podcast, the co hosts of the crossover are here, Chris and Howard, the co host of open floor, Chris herring, and live from his dorm room in Central Florida, Rohan not Carney, Rohan, glad you could join us from I am podcasting as God intended from my parents house. Okay, that's awesome. There's no true or form of podcasting. Wait. Are you podcasting for the basement? There are no basements in Florida, unfortunately, but science willing, I would have been in a basement. If possible, but yeah, I'm podcasting the old fashioned way gentlemen. All right, well, the first part of this mega podcast was over on the open floor feed. That was our Western Conference preview. Now we're gonna do a little Eastern Conference storylines as we get geared up for the start of the NBA season on Tuesday night. And fellas, we gotta begin in Brooklyn, which is going to be a fascinating case study all season long. The nets have what I feel is like the highest ceiling, maybe of any team in the league. They also have potentially the lowest floor of any contender in the league because God knows how all these personalities mesh God knows if Steve Nash can coach them, God knows what Kyrie Irving's gonna wake up thinking on any given day. So Howard, I want to start with you then on the nets. And I guess we'll frame it this way. As you get ready for this season, with all the dust settling on everything that happened in the off season. Do you look at the nets as a contender or pretender as we begin this season? I think there are contender until further notice. So the backdrop of the summer is as ghastly as it gets. Raises a thousand questions. But they're all back and there's no outward signs right now that anybody is kind of just dragging themselves through practices and shoot rounds and games. Like there's the discontent that led to Kevin Durant's trade request that was wrapped up perhaps or not perhaps in kairi's wanting an extension that he didn't get. Whatever the misgivings, the bad feelings, the bad mojo, it's not clear right now. And granted, sometimes it's hard to tell because this team is so weird anyway, but until we actually see some cracks in them as they're constructed playing games as opposed to just the theater of the off season, then I'm going to look at them based on their talent and their talent as you said at mannix is as great as anybody's got in a big three. Now, Ben Simmons has never played with these guys except in the preseason. Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant haven't exactly had great success together so far in Brooklyn, but the last three years have been choppy to say the least. James Harden coming and going bubble, dread injury, Kyrie injury hard injuries, all of it. They're almost a blank slate. But I'm not going to evaluate them based on what was going on in July with Kevin Durant's trade request. They're all here, and it looks like they're all playing as hard as you would normally expect them to play in a preseason. So for now, they're contenders. They've got stars. They've got playmaking. They've got Ben Simmons, who's a Swiss Army knife, defensively. They've got great shooters in Seth curry and Joe Harris. They're pretty solid. And it's not as though the other contenders don't have their own caveats, albeit not quite as spectacular. Yeah, I just want to, I want to lean on the expertise of one of the most famous basketball writers of all time. His name's Howard Beck, who said earlier this summer, I remember when Kobe and Shaq hated each other and they were at each other's throats and the Lakers kept the team together and they made the NBA Finals. We'll remember Kobe Bryant famously tried to leave the Lakers in 2000 late 2000s. They keep him. They trade for pau Gasol, end up winning two more championships. Listen, I'm with Howard. There's the theater of off season and then there's what they can be on the floor. And on the floor, I'm about to say something insane. I think they're like a Dwight Howard away from potentially just running away from the rest of the east, okay? I think they're 5 man lineup of Joe Harris. Royce O'Neal Ben Simmons, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant has the potential to be, you know, you think about what the Celtics did last year with kind of this really switchable group. I think this next version has to be a potentially an amped up version of that group. I just think they need more front court depth. But you look at who can bring off the bench, Seth curry, TJ Warren, I'm really intrigued by what TJ Warren could possibly bring them. They're going to be in the mix for buyout guys. Even amid all the James hard and drama from two years ago, when he joins the team, amid the drama last year when he's trying to get the trade out. "The place. That's frustrating for a patient to try to get that all done. And many of them give up along the way. Yeah, it's just sort of like an ongoing problem that they just have to cope with in addition to the rest of their lives. Well, in your view of this, you look at pain in a different, more holistic way than other people. What is the difference between western Netherlands and eastern medicine on these concepts of pain? Well, I'll actually tell you about it in both in the context of eastern medicine and then western medicine because dentistry is, of course, a component of western medicine, but actually functions differently. So in eastern medicine, Chinese medicine, our focus is on the individual, right? So like for example, rather than focus on the germ theory of infection, our philosophy would be what's called the terrain theory of infection. We would say, okay, well, how did this person get an infection when everyone around him didn't get it? What's their health like? What's there? What they would say is lung Chi or what's their sleep like? What's their emotional state like? They would factor in all of these individual nuances and physiological points of interest, if you will. And find out, okay, well, what is being affected right now that that's happening? That this person came to this event. So that would be our thought process there. So is it something emotional? Is it something physiological? Is it something orthopedic? And we go from there. The eastern medicine. And then whatever the diagnoses that we have, we have excess deficiency, hot, cold, wet dry. We look at it in a very interesting sort of way to try to get a milieu of what the patient is like. Now, dentistry even though it's considered part of western medicine and it is part of western medicine..

"Yeah it was like for the graham. I ain't going to do it like sort of thing. So i mean. He's got a really good opportunity kind of rewrite that you know that story for himself. I think mark morris has kind of interesting for them to guy that did not play particularly well this past season and i think if he does play well could be an interesting piece for them You're right. I mean at tucker. I was a coup getting tucker for reason. Because it takes them away from milwaukee in the lineup milwaukee milwaukee's able to use. But you're right. I mean this is a team that has some older pieces now that if they play to their capability and most of them play their capability. You know you're talking about a team that could easily get to the eastern conference finals and maybe upset their way into the finals playing brooklyn. Or what have you. It's just a tough team team. That has a little bit of nastiness to it. That has enough shooting. I think heroes a big key to that a guy that people went from really hot like really cold on a short amount of time for a kid. That's only what twenty one twenty two still. It has a good defense around him. So i'm curious. I mean they certainly were kind of the team. That had the sexy off season in the east at a lot of that being lowery. And tucker but also got market morris who like i said if he has a bounce back year that's nothing to sneeze at like that team and kind of the roster that they have considering they already have bam already have butler already have hero. So i'm curious to see and not to mention it brought back dunkin robinson a big big contract for player that was under the biggest contract. Nba history for someone. who's undrafted. so. I don't know that was a team that probably only needed to add a couple of things and did it and so it'll be really interesting to see. Now if they stay healthy how good they are. I had them at three on my list for this around..

"I mean you're implementing these new rules. The league put out the video the other day about a foul drawing. I mean that will impact certain teams more than others and i think atlanta's at the top of that list. Obviously trae on. I'm curious to see the way that plays out. Is it something that you could just take out of your game immediately. And it's not a problem. Is it something where you're gonna be firing four shots a game trying to drop out you. Don't get a call for if it is. That's something that they're going to probably lose some games because it sounds really small. But i mean it's it's not. I mean particularly with the team. That is young. It does blow leads occasionally a team that makes twenty six point comebacks in the playoffs. Appoint here. they're actually matters quite a bit. And if you let's say you cut trae. Young free throws down by ten fifteen percent all of a sudden that matters a whole lot around the margin so. I don't know exactly what to expect. You could make the argument that they're going to be better than they were last year. They brought that more guys than i thought they would. This past off season. It didn't actually seem like much issue for them to do that. Their owner talked as if they were gonna let certain guys go then. They really didn't so i'm curious to see what happens with them. But i'm putting them at five mostly just because i think that they've got upside from what they did last year with all the injuries. So i i want to tell you where i had atlanta and then i'm gonna tell you who i added my six we gotta bounce back one slide for atlanta hot take year incoming Their number three for me. Wow wow okay. Yeah and i just think that you roll the roster back and you're building on what you did last season you get to the conference finals. You probably would have gone to the finals if trae young doesn't step on referees foot. After march first. Nate mcmillan took over for loyd pierce. They had the second best offense and the second highest point differential in the eastern conference. So you have those numbers on your side. You resign john. Collins who has spoken publicly about how contract situation really affected him throughout all of last season including an article that That i wrote about him in an interview and he gets one hundred. Whatever million dollars and i just feel like he could go up a level trae. Young is probably you know. I didn't really honestly factor in the rule change. That's really good call by you and you had me sweating when you were talking about it But i do think the trae young enough to improve the pull up threes..

"And like zach levine. Got cova late and they just never bounced back. After that i think lonzo and crucial will help on defense and also opponents shot forty seven point three percent against them in the mid range which was the league high mark and i feel like that should drop a little bit in their favor. I don't know i'm not saying that. Their defense is gonna be incredible or anything like that but it might not be like dead last. I think it can be you know closer to league average than last and that should so i'll agree with you but i want to look at one thing if i could put up quickly enough. Where were they defensively. Once they made the trade for bitch. 'cause i mean i think he's a the kind of person that makes a difference. Where having him in there you kind of or conceding that you're not going to be great so i'm trying to look it up and see if i can was in march. What was the trade deadline this year. I can't remember march twenty fifth. Something like doug. I can't be remembering dates from the last season. it's making trying to look it up. I'm i'm gonna try to look at real quick. I will say. I have it right here. Post all-star break. they were eighth. they finished eighth. Yeah defense last season. So i wonder if some of that was also what you're saying about levin out okay. Maybe i don't know if the bulls. I'll put it this way up. The buzzer top ten defense if they finish in the top ten defensively. They're going to be. They're going to be either a top half of the playoff team in the east meaning like home court more. They're going to be knocking on that door. And i don't quite see that. But if they're that good defensively and they added all this offense. I think it's certainly feasible. That they do that. I mean there. Their offense would have to be underwhelming all the taliban just added for them not to be in that conversation if their top ten defense. So we'll see i okay at that point. What reason would they not be atop if you're a top. Ten defense in their offense has three all stars in it at that point I don't know we'll see we'll see. I'm really intrigued by them. I wanna see what happens with them. So who is your number seven. I don't think i my seven was the raptors right. So remember the knicks at six. I put the celtics at seven and this was one that i think we kind of had a little bit of a fundamental disagreement on last week to whereas that i didn't quite trust them and then i think it's a little bit weird did not have really a starting caliber point guard now. I'm not the biggest fan of schreuder. But if they add him was it. Sounds like it's one of the last realistic places. He could kind of land. I might be a little bit higher on them. Like i'm not a huge fan of his game. But i also see how adding him there. You don't have a starting point guard. Where that would that would help. And it takes a little bit of the pressure off of someone like tatum having the handle it all the time or brown having to handle it as much as he would have to. So you know. I could see how that would make sense. They've got a lot more top end talent than i think. A couple of these other teams do just having two guys that i think are potentially going to be all stars for a long long long time and i still like some of your post play..

"I really love their off-season So shout out to the wizards You already gave your ten. I believe so. I'll just throw mine out there. It is the new york knicks I him well documented. In saying that i am not the biggest believer in the knicks and wasn't the biggest believer last season in the regular season that they had. I think there's a lot of ridge regression. That's going to happen here. From opposing three point percentages to julius randle three point percentage. Where you know. He entered last season as a career. Twenty nine point five percent shooter from deep last year. Shot forty one percent from deepen forty percent on pull ups from deep i just. I don't think that those are real numbers. So we get fans back in the stands. There's a little bit more of a normalcy to the season. I think he's gonna come back to earth a little bit and you know they get kemba they get evan forming a those are pretty nice pieces for sure and we like the value of of the signings but you know in the actual game of Impacting winning both are minus defenders and defenses. This team's identity. So how is that gonna play out. I don't know so. I'm i'm still skeptical about the next. I'm sorry knicks fans. Yeah so that was your ten you said. Es okay so. I hit already given my nine. I told you that the pacers were the team. I had a night. I think you said you had them twelve of our member. So i'll go with my eight then because i i had pacers nine with this eleven so i had the knicks. I actually had them at number six. Oh okay i mean well. It's kind of crazy because think about it. They were technically four. Which i kind of feel like it's almost disingenuous to say that they were they were fourth legitimately fourth and they're tiebreaker. Last year so pulling them down to ten. I mean i think it's within the realm of possibility but i i'm already bringing them down to six from technically for which we all. We all said this before. I wouldn't say that the top three or that difficult. Maybe the top four. Maybe but i think that the teams anywhere from like five to eight you. Could you could pull them out of a hat. As far as i'm concerned. Now you don't even have the knicks in your top eight ten. I think they'll make the playoffs. That'd be a little bit surprised if they don't even make the playoffs. I i had a mail bag a couple of weeks ago. It was actually the kid marrow. From jesus and merrill asked me it was the first question i let off with. Did you think this next season was a fluke. And like you said. There's some things point to. I think you can certainly look posing three point percentage. I mean you watch the way. That team plays defense. I don't think it's that lewke that you know. The teams phil sped up playing against a team that rotates as hard as they do this. Which as hard as they do that plays as hard as they do if anything i said i didn't think they were fluke because they place such hard defense. I think that wins you a lot of games. I watched the pacers more closely than i think..

"Much of a stink with miles turner and sa- bonus and malcolm brogdon and certainly kind of one of the more guy in the league. Just kind of seems like is a great head on his shoulders like. I don't think that rick is gonna find much trouble with them as currently constructed. So i i tend to be more glass half full with the pacers with rick. Carlisle running it and with all those guys coming back. Presumably maybe not that are dealing with more chronic stuff or develop more injuries than soviet. But you know i i would put them ahead of the other teams that have got in that. I'm not sure list. Which like. I said i've got three of them but i put them at number nine for me And had a couple of teams underneath that that was also kinda unsure about okay. So give us your eleven okay. So my eleven was charlotte. I've got the hornets right there. I actually kinda liked their off season. I didn't think they needed a whole whole lot. I think really if you're charlotte. What you need to be focused on. It's just having lamelo healthy. Then getting gordon hayward back which. I think that really took a massive wind out of their sales when he got hurt. I don't know that anyone realized how much it would hurt them. Actually maybe we did. Because i'm trying to remember the chronology of win lamelo got hurt. And then i think he got hurt after that so they were without both of those guys for a stretch. If i remember correctly but no i mean it's a really look up and down there ostra. They're easily one of the most athletic teams in the league. Right now I can't even remember the dude's name. Whoever they drafted though that crazy ass dunk that he had in the summer league. Game yesterday There's just a team. That has a lot of scary athleticism. they got oubre. A smith is one of my favorite players in the league to watch and they just got mason plumlee for not very much to think actually had a really nice season with detroit Again i think people kind of right folks off when they get signed a contract. That looks like it's too big for what they what people perceive perceived there could be deserving of but had a really nice with him. I think he had a triple double in game but is a perfectly fine big backup big sort of player for them so i kind of like what they've done I don't expect that much of them. But they could also overachieved just given that again. They'll have hayward back and i think lamelo will probably take a little bit more of a step than he did because he'll be back in the in the mix and able to play so i like charlotte. I don't know if i like them enough to say that. I think that they'll make the playoffs but they were pretty close to that conversation this year and again not fully healthy when they did that so i like them. So yeah i have charlotte at nine and it's right around in that same that same tier I think one of the reasons. Why a little down on charlotte and i didn't have them even higher because i loved watching them last year. One of my favorite teams Yeah they were so good and crunch time like abnormally. So that i feel like we're going to get some regression there but again. I don't know what matters from last season going forward. It's really hard to factor any seven The reason why. I have them in nine is i think lamelo is just. I mean he's a star and i would not be shocked if he made some kind of leap this season and just he's one of those players who is not only going to get his own numbers but he makes everybody around him better so if they have health..

"With my eleven because like you said we had to select let me get my twelve. Okay yeah I'm sure that i actually. I have no idea where you have this team. I'm not even going to try to to guess. But i have no feel for them whatsoever. And that is the indiana pacers like you know. Rick carlisle's their head coach. I think that is definitely a positive. We know they're gonna play slow. We know they're gonna be a little bit better on offense. We know that especially in the half court they're going to be able to execute whatever you know. They're going to call a ton of time outs just the rick carlisle. Stampa there maybe trade bows turner this season. That's a little bit of a variable to account for tj warren. We'll be back He would miss basically last season with an injury. I just. I don't know. I don't know if like continuity is their friend. I don't know with everybody's sick of each other. I don't know how rick carlisle will mesh. I just i can't i have. I have no feel for this team. So i just i had to just kind of stick them at the bottom of the the acceptable organizations if that makes any sense so. I didn't do that but i did. Have my teams nine through eleven. So this was your twelve my my nine through eleven. I bracketed off and put in full letters. No idea i put the pacers in that nine spot while also acknowledging. I have no idea where they'll finish. They finished higher. They could obviously finish lower but what i thought about them was a lot of what you just said. They had really as many injuries as anybody last year. I think they were kind of strange injury. So i think they were the type that people didn't notice delivered after the trade needing surgery and you know basically learning that the guy you know had something that would have been cancer since by essentially had cancer so there was that jay warren missed essentially the whole year. Was it the whole year. I can't even remember at this point but tj more and miss that whole stretch. Jeremy lamb missed half the season miles. Turner missed a big chunk of the season. They discovered o'shea toward the end of the season. Who was a really nice piece for them and it sounded like they were dealing with quite a bit of turmoil within their locker. I'm just as far as whether or not these guys actually wanted to play for this first year coach they had. And now you bring in. Rick carlisle who is not necessarily the easiest personality to get along with but also has a championship pedigree to him knows what he's doing. And you know for the most part. The guys on that roster. You know from what i've seen at least are not guys that are seemingly that difficult to kind of get along with you know guys.

"Most of their young guys played a whole lot last year. And so you know maybe spurs development a little bit quicker city bay was really really nice for them last year. It was really nice for them last year and quite frankly to be there and have a point guard who obviously inexperienced from an nba standpoint. But it's gonna come in knowing what he's doing we'll be really interesting to see how the guys around him play off that and like you said olympic. I think we'll make life easy for them even easier for them. Even though i think a lot of people were kind of scared off by the money wasn't really that bad of know of signing as far as the money to have spacing big there instead of okeafor. Instead of stewart in particular will be really helpful for someone that is trying to get into the paint like kept cutting abbas so we before we started to record you and i were talking about how difficult this exercises and here is where it gets. Here's where like feelings are going to get hurt. I feel like Just because they're such a logjam in the east this season and so many teams that are flawed but also intriguing and positive ways. and so. i'm gonna. I'm gonna let you give us your number twelve instead of me because i feel like the pitchforks are going to be coming out from. This point is all alright so here we go i'm gonna plug the raptors in twelve. And i also have a big asterix here saying this is the team. That could still make me look really stupid decision. Because they've got look they're gonna be younger. They elected to take. Scotty barnes who. That was one of the couple of games that i watched yesterday in summer league. He looks really talented. They've got a lot of veterans on this roster. Still i mean guys that maybe not lay career veterans. But i think last week. They said that they're not necessarily looking at garage. Which i think he's gonna score a lot for you. He's going to be decent if he stays healthy You already have been bleed. Who again is not like a late career veteran but you know a guy that is a very good point guard. I think what it comes down to is. That you lost lowery. Who wins a lot of games for you regardless of whether he does much in the box score just a really really hard nosed defender. God's gonna take a lot of charges and play really saw defense for you But you've also got guys that every time someone's been taken out of the rotation for them you get in an ob to step up or you boucher to step up Someone always steps up for this team. I've always kind of referred to them as like shark's teeth that something else kind of comes up and and establish yeah shark's teeth we're going to change the name from raptors to the shark's teeth. So i think the big question with them to can't be lost as like how. How ready is ciocci. I'm going to be the play after his physical stuff the stuff he's been dealing with. I don't know yet. If there's like a clear answer to that but i that's where it starts to get dicey in terms of saying that they're absolutely in the playoff race easily is whether or not they're healthy. I think not having lowery and kind of going a little bit younger. And kinda handing the keys over a little..

"Have the best non max non rookie scale contract basketball jared allen. They just signed to a huge contract. And it was maligned in some corners. I think it's okay enough right now. and they have some other young pieces we we don't really know if collin sexton will be on the floor for the next year. That's one of the shoes that may drop. They may look to move him. We'll see but you know it's still it's still feels like there's several moves away from actually being good and a lot of this speaks to the upgrades that other teams made in the eastern conference than it is that i just than it is me you know crapping on cleveland. I think a lot of the teams got better. Yeah they're they've got some guys kind of in the middle of the rotation words what. Where do we go from here. Like what are they doing. I think osmond's A really good example of that where you were really excited about him. I i'll be honest that I love jared allen. You're not gonna find too many people that like him more than i do and still. Maybe they signed him with the idea that well as long as we get him on a reasonable enough deal even if we kind of run into a logjam here where we have him and we've got mobely. It's okay because we can move out if we need to. I don't know if that's the thinking but this is a team that has not been going out and signing centers trading centers whether it's drummond Guys that can play center. You know when you look at somebody like nansen. His skill set So i just kind of not sure what they're doing you know. And even with the sexton thing a guy that is really blossomed nicely on offense since a really horrendous start to his rookie year a historically bad start to his rookie year. Where guys in the locker room. We're kind of talking anonymously in the media about how guys weren't really a fan of his game that he wasn't looking to pass. I remember at one point at five thirty eight. I was like looking into the story about how it was literally the worst start in. Nba history really for some of them have been drafted as as he had been And then he started to turn it around and so basically went into a you know. I think the headline we use was like Colin sexton's not historically bad anymore. He actually might be good. And i think that's kind of what we're looking at a little bit. I mean it's still not much depends but he works hard. He can really shoot. He's become a little bit better of passer but they've got a team. That essentially has two point guard so to speak. They have like two of everything but like not of anything. That is so good that you wouldn't move on from it if the right opportunity came up so there are weird team in that sense. I had them at thirteen on my list. Not not fourteen but pretty close in that range rubio. Ads has slightly interesting wrinkle to them. I kind of wonder to some extent how he feels about that but he's also leaving a team. That was young. That had some pieces where you weren't quite sure with what's happening..

"I think definitely actually It was the three of us We sat down and talked about. They have a comic book manga. Which is japanese comic book that they just created so they were kind of plugging nat. And then i asked him a bunch of questions about other stuff and including robbins relationship slash rivalry with stuff. The magic dragon orlando's mascot. So go check that out. It's very hilarious. And those guys are just i mean they are very unique obviously So yeah. I had the magic fifty. If we don't really need to spend too much time on them. I do like i want to add something about okay. You said about robin so much fun. I covered him for one season. Maybe two i think it was one in new york when the knicks. Actually i started to look like they knew what they were doing. And not just go after the big names and ignore everything else. During the phil jackson tenure they went and signed robin he was a big signing for them. And i remember wanting i was still relatively new to the beat. I think maybe a year to win and the journal told me When i was working for the wall street journal they were like chris. Would it help you. would it be helpful to you as a beat writer. If you could potentially. Andy would you be interested in a story if we could do it. This way. obviously brooklyn robin or like massive star wars fans and like all things fantasy. We may be able to get them into like an early screening for the film and we could send you along long kind of a story. Unlike their reaction in real time to watching it. And i was like holy shit. This is incredible. And so i think two or three days later i went in the locker room and like floated it. Who was like dude. I'm so on that like just let me know time and place me and my brother. We'll take a night off from the season if we have to. If it means we're missing a game we'll do it. And then something through and i felt so bad like it would be like teasing a dog with food or a treat or something and then just like putting it behind your back and the dog getting. I felt so bad so hopefully. He doesn't hate me for that. I was super angry with my boss at the cyber floating. That and then saying we couldn't make it happen but does such an enjoyable. Do those guys are so much fun to cover and write about and talk. They're so fun and when they make fun of each other like just me. Laughing cackling in the background as another awesome. So i'll give you my fourteen and we might still be on the same page. Maybe we diverge a little bit. But i can't see where you go here. Okay yeah i have. The cleveland cavaliers. You know i think ricky rubio is a floor razor and they just traded for him. I think that was a big step in the right direction for a team. That wants to win. Right now You know evan. Mobile is exciting. I'm really high darius. Garland i think he can make a leap this season. Larry nance junior make sense on every single team in the league..

"Summer league has just started were finally dipping into a section of the off season where we can just now starting to look ahead to the two thousand twenty one two thousand twenty two season with partial clarity as to what each team will look like and you know this upcoming nba year maybe one of the hardest to predict or even just read in recent memory given the last two seasons were filled with such disruption. And we're played under singularly harsh conditions that make it hard to know what matters and what doesn't as we look ahead so even though there are still a few huge shoes that may drop between now an opening night. I kinda wanted to see where we are. And what we think about the league at this exact point in time by having you and i predict the final standings in the eastern conference down to one You know we'll probably revisit this exercise later on in offseason. But i thought this would be fun right now just to see how wrong and foolish you and i will be when we look back on it in a few months or a year or whatever So like i said we're doing eastern conference today Rohatyn and i will be doing the western conference later. this week. so let's just get into it do you wanna give your fifteen Against like the worst team that you think the team you think will be worst. Yeah finished last. haven't yeah i mean. I'm not sure if this will be your number fifteen. But they're they're kind of tearing down completely Obviously the the kind of head of fire sale last season letting go some guys The trade deadline they drafted to tap ten guys who i really liked by the way. I did not watch much college basketball. I'd i'm pretty open about that. That i think it's already a full time job and a half to for you and me to be able to sit here and bemoan how few people watch the spurs. That's because we're doing that. And we're watching all these teams. I feel like we're kind of like the vacuum cleaner for everybody else doesn't watch these teams in the middle of the country then aren't big markets so while we watch the magic and the spurs you know the magic are going to hurt a little bit. But they're doing it to try to be better for the future. I'm hoping that they'll get jonathan. Isaac back. I think that would be a really really good step for them But really when you look at their roster. You've only got a couple of guys that are in their thirties. You've got robin lopez and a bunch of young dudes basically on this team. So none of that really spells playoff contention to me. I think it would be really surprising if they do that. but i'm really looking forward to seeing sucks and wagner. Wagner was a complete joy to watch at michigan he's such a good defender and just kind of a smart player. But i don't expect much of much from them. In the way of wins next year wouldn't be shocked if that's your number fifteen team as well. That was my number fifteen team. And i mean i second every single thing that you just said. I'm glad you mentioned robin. Lopez gives me an opportunity to plug in interview that i did with brook lopez robin lopez which honestly went up on the site right before we started recording Honestly the funniest zoom call interview of my life..

Zach carson will be split up among different teams including some southeast division teams To give us a quick preview on what predictions are for the this upcoming eastern conference. Playoff bracket sodas off. Tonight we have the fight for the eighth seed going down. Going down between the indiana pacers and the washington wizards. Who do you see taking that crown. Punch their ticket to a date with the philadelphia. Seventy six the first round. I think i'm putting my money on the wizards in its matchup. I think i think that star power. The drive of russell westbrook bradley beal's hungry for playoffs. The playoffs and i think. I just think i just think they're going to have it in them to pull us out. Also the pacers coming off in exhausted game. Seven sore the wizards but i think i just have a good feeling about the wizards in this one. And i think.
