Rangers crush Penguins
"6 rangers collected at least two points in a 6 zero drubbing of the penguins. Rangers head coach Gerard gallant. We Billy Joe chances and that was the difference in the game. They played a pretty good game overall. I mean, hard to say that when a 6 nothing, but they had probably more chances than us and we just happened to bury our chances every time. Mika's sabana jet had a goal and two assists, and our temi Panera scored twice as the rangers beat the pens for the second time in three days. Igor shishkin made 34 saves in his second shout out of the season at 5th straight win. The loss leaves the penguins just one point ahead of Florida for the final Easter conference wild card birth. Cissie Graham Lynch: Using Biblical Literacy to Fight Culture Wars
"Really is confusion in the culture. And I think this, I don't know, maybe you might find a different approach here, but I think this is an attack on truth. Everybody has their own truth. We talk about that a lot these days, and we really don't talk about the fact that in this country there used to be something called absolute truth, and now everybody's got their own version of things. Absolutely. Truth is relative to the individual now, but as Christians, Jesus Christ, you know, before he was crucified, pontius pilot said before him and asked him what was true. And he stood face to face with truth. You know, we're getting ready to remember what Jesus did on the cross and celebrate Easter coming up. And we as Christians have to know that we stand on truth. And I think what's happened is the church today has become biblically illiterate. So that way when it comes to fighting these cultural awards, we can't stand because we don't know what God's word is. We don't have a biblical worldview. And for those listening, I just want to encourage you to these are tough situations, especially for parents and grandparents raising children that we have to know God's words. We have to know what we believe why we believe it. Scripture says that those who know their God will be able to stand in streets and take action. And right now, all of us need to be standing in strength, we have to be taken action in our communities and our schools, but we have to know God who he is and who his scripture is.

New England, upstate New York, bracing for winter storm
"Parts of the northeast are being hit with a powerful winter storm. The national weather service says the storm could last into Wednesday for areas such as New England, upstate New York, northeastern Pennsylvania, and northern New Jersey, dumping heavy wet snow and unleashing strong winds, meteorologist Andrew Orson. Snowfall turtles that were going to see that with this particular storm will be among the highest that we've seen for this entire wear season. It has been below average for snowfall across the northeast this year. And so this no Easter will be very impactful because we haven't really seen a whole lot of snow. New York governor Kathy hochul already has warned that the storm could be deadly, and she's telling people in the affected areas to stay off the roads, the Albany area could get three feet of snow. 'Fish Out of Water' Is Now Available in Paperback!
"My book, fish out of water came out in paperback. Yes it did. Now the ladies and gentlemen got it right here. It is a load of fun. Most of my books are not a load of fun. No. There may be some fun in them. There's even jokes in the bahnhof her book. I refer to Jimmy Carter in the bahnhof her book, especially if you're smart and you read the index. There's jokes in all my books. Like Easter eggs. But this book is loaded with comedy. Comedy. And it is a true story, and it's out in paperback. And darling pictures, black and white, and some color ones of you when you were a little baby and your dad, of course. This is what I like about it. This book really is, in a sense, about your dad. The funny, funniest stuff is really your dad. Your dad in a sense was very much like my dad. He would kind of get words and phrases wrong. And we'd say we'd laugh as kids. He wouldn't realize, oh, I said that word wrong. I misused that phrase. And there's a couple of them there. I thought, well, maybe you could just mention a couple real quick because we've got some time. Well, the ones that I always say to people who invite me to speak on my book letter to the American church, I say, please invite me back to speak at this church because that's a really sobering message. It's important, but it's very sober. But if I give my testimony the story of my life from fish out of water or talk about my book and say these indebted, it's like there's a lot of fun and it's nice to have fun.

Dennis and Caller Dean Discuss the Nuances of 'All' and 'Hate'
"Okay, Simi Valley, California, dean, hello dean. Hey, Dennis, how are you? I'm really well. Thank you. Thank you. I am a big supporter. You and I are often like minded, and I just wanted to hopefully share something to help you. So that your distractors don't give you grief. A couple of segments ago you talked about whenever you use the word all, it means you're a hater and I often hear you say all leftists do this and all left us do that and I didn't want them to have that ammunition. Oh, they can have it. I hate all of this. If you're the leftist is an idea. I hate all Nazis. I hate all communists. I hate old fascists. The left remember, I always make a distinction between left and liberal. I mean, if you believe that the United States is systemically racist, if you believe that it is a good thing that we remove religion from American life like they just did in England with the London school of economics, they no longer have a Christmas break or an Easter break. And et cetera, if you think that. It is a good thing to have girls healthy breast cut off when they're 18 years of age, if they say they're a boy, I really hate you. I admit it. Tell me a leftist position that makes you unworthy of being hated, as opposed to a liberal position. I don't hate all liberals. A lot of liberals are wonderful people they're naive, and that's inexcusable in an adult, but I don't hate them. So hating an idea is not the same as hating a race or an ethnicity or a nationality. I'm with you. You know what, I stand corrected. I actually think I would be appreciating labeled a hater if what I hate is left this concept. Yes. If you hate evil, you're a good man.

We'll celebrate the sacrifice in the Easter, the death burial resurrection. But I appreciate the birth of Christ, I appreciate it, especially because I feel like God gave me purpose. Abdu Murray Describes Arguing for Islam
"I want to go back again to how you went from arguing for Islam and against the Trinity and against Christianity. What happened in that in the course of your life? So during the course of this time, I was engaging with people on various ideas and I would ask Christians oftentimes. Why are you a Christian? And it was very conversational. I wasn't a Quran thumper or anything. I was just asking them conversationally. Why are you a Christian? And they would often college in high school. This is in high school and into college. Mostly started really into college as well. But I'm asking them this question. And they would answer questions. They would answer like, well, I guess I'm a Presbyterian because we go to the Presbyterian Church on Christmas and Easter, so I'm a pescetarian, and they've had that little lilt in the end of their voice. And I'm like, is that a question or an answer? I'm not even sure you know. And so I would respond by saying basically something along the lines of this is like tradition is the reason. So your trusting, the destiny of your eternal soul to a worldview, someone else thought through. Did you think through it and all yourself? And the answer was usually no. Of course not. And then I'd say, well, I thought it through for you. And here's 15 reasons why you're wrong. And most of them had no idea how to respond, but there were a couple of people who were fairly annoying who knew how to respond to it. And they were annoying because they were jerks. So maybe one or two. But for the most part, I'm a debater at heart. I'm an advocate. If I think something's true and right, I advocate for it. But I'm also competitive. I like to win. And these guys were good at this. And they didn't just roll over and die. So I had to take their responses seriously. So I began to study Christianity, got a good dose of both conservative side and a liberal side in terms of form criticism redaction criticism, biblical criticism, the theology stuff. And I would use the more liberal stuff in order to sort of show Christians, oh, don't you know your Bible has been changed and you didn't always used to believe this stuff and here's the differences in it. I was wrong, but I thought I was right because I had all these highfalutin people standing behind me on this.

Who Is in Authority in America?
"In the American framework, though, we must take a step back and ask ourselves the question, who is an authority in America? So at the surface reading, a pastor says, well, the mayor is an authority or the city council is an authority or the no, no, no, no. The founding fathers completely changed the game, where it's we the people that are actually in charge. And so it's completely different. And so every pastor that was quoting that, I have to say this lovingly is that that was the theologically theologically wrong in the American framework because instead it's the mayors, the city council, the governors who should have been submitting to us. That's for them in the American context because the people are the sovereign and instead it was used as an excuse to be able to take Easter away from us, Pentecost away from us, which resulted in the most depressed, suicidal alcohol addicted and drug addicted and psychiatric addicted generation in history, the least religious generation history. I just want to paint a picture of what could have been and you can't go back and do things, but you can correct error in the future and learn from it. Imagine if the American church would have said, we're not doing these lockdowns. The people are the sovereign. I think a lot of the misery and suffering from young people that otherwise went to pornography, drugs, suicide, and hopelessness. What if the American church would have said, we're open for business. We're here to heal you, you know, buy Jesus Christ, we're here to accept you. We're here to show you compassion and love. It could have been a revival because you know how I know this. The churches that did open, they saw a revival happen in their doors, like

Charlie's Advice for TPUSA Chapter Presidents
"President of the new turning point USA chapter at Tallahassee community college. Awesome. And. We've been struggling recently to get some recognition by the faculty and the leadership of the school, obviously. Kind of an uncooperative administrative body you could say. So I was just wondering if you had any tips for helping us gain the trust of those teachers and school leaders who could potentially help us launch our student group. While still keeping to our conservative America first values. That's awesome. Well, first of all, thank you for your commitment and your leadership. You should be applauded for that. That's awesome. And look, it's going to take grit and hustle. You got to find faculty sponsor, not easy, right? I'm sure there's one. And if you can't find one at least try to find one person that you might disagree with, that still believes in freedom of speech that like, hey, you at least believe that something that you might not agree with has a right to exist on campus. But honestly, this is all a very good exercise for you. And I just want to encourage you personally. The difficulty, the opposition, navigating a community that might not agree with everything that you hold is going to make you a tougher more resilient person throughout your entire life. Just having everything easy when you are young, creates a lot of misery. It does. And I have a whole theory about this, which is that young people are the most comfortable generation in history, which is why they're the most depressed generation in history. There's a great book called comfort crisis. You guys should check it out by Michael Easter, which makes this argument that we as a human species were not designed to just be able to sit around all day and have three meals and perfectly air conditioned to climate controlled situations. Over a period of time, it actually creates a lot of anxiety and depression. And so opposition is a good thing. I would consider that to be a blessing. At the same time, we're happy to give you resources and help in any way possible. And I'm positive, you'll be able to find hopefully a sponsor of two throughout it. But look at it as a blessing. Look at it as almost a metaphorical muscle building opportunity. So that later in life, you will have gone through, you know, being called nasty names, not being in the majority, and eventually you'll be stronger because of that.

The Hugh Hewitt Show: Highly Concentrated
The Power of the Flotilla
"Want to underscore that because right now the United States Navy has about 280 surface combatants at sea. This comes from page three 88 a victory at sea. The sheer size of the American naval armada surrounding Okinawa was a retelling of the story of the Pacific war, as 1200 landing vessels commenced their Easter Sunday, April 1 assault on the central beaches of Okinawa, they were screened by 200 destroyers 18 battleships and over 40 carriers. You know, that's bigger than the entire U.S. Navy today. It is doctor Kennedy. Yes. Now, the defenders of what's going on in our size and power of E today would say, well, a nuclear powered aircraft carrier of the GL four class of the retiring Nimitz class is so much more powerful than those carriers surrounding Okinawa in 1944. But we had so many more of them out there. And so one of the questions about present power is a possible vulnerability of the limited number of warships, including limited number of aircraft carriers, which we have across stress across the globe today for our commitments from the Houston Mediterranean through the Indian Ocean to the far Pacific. Not to mention, giving an eye enlisted children.

The Charlie Kirk Show
Michael Easter: Comfort Can Backfire
"For a long time we as a species didn't have shelter food and comfort. So now that we have it actually makes us unhappy. So talk about diet and then unpack that paradox for us. Yeah, so to talk about diet, first of all, humans evolved so hunger is this discomfort that basically told us, you need food. Right? And when we had the opportunity to eat food, we would often overeat because that provided a survival advantage. It would help us gain fat, we were essentially before we had refrigerators, eating too much, allowed us to have an onboard refrigerator in the form of fat. So now though, we have this ample access to really calorie dense food. And we have ample opportunity to overeat it whenever we want. That's what we're wired to do. But this is obviously backfiring now. And so to your question about how does this play into the larger theme of how comfort has changed over time? In our past, seeking comfort was a good thing. We evolved in these environments of extreme discomfort. It was always too hot, too cold. We didn't have enough food. There was always something we could do to move our life forward. We didn't get to sit on the couch and go through Instagram. We didn't evolve to be active. Like we were our lives forced us to be physically active. But we had no incentive to do any more activity than we needed to, because again, food was scarce. You don't want to burn extra energy. So then you plop us in an environment that we've engineered where everything is easy. Effortless, easy to come by food. We've engineered movement out of our days. We've engineered boredom out of our days and all these drives we have to always do the next most comfortable thing. They start to backfire. So this is associated with everything from heart disease to our mental health crisis in the country. To just people, you know, really sort of missing the boat on life. When you

Michael Easter: The Healing Properties of Boredom
"About the healing properties of boredom, again, when I say this to parents, parents will come to me, you know, 15, 16, 17 year old kids, they say my kids super depressed. And I just, thanks to your book in the last couple of weeks, I say, how often do you see your kid board? Oh, never. He's playing video games on his phone. He's on SnapChat he's on TikTok. And I say, look, I'm not a neuroscientist, but someone like Andrew huberman would argue that the brain is just getting overwhelmed. It needs some time to retreat. It needs some time to just reorganize itself. Can you talk a little bit about the potential healing properties of boredom in a world where we're just kind of drowning in kind of just this white noise of social media of which most of the information we actually don't retain. Yes. So your brain essentially has. And I'm simplifying this a bit. But your brain essentially has two modes. There's focus mode where you are focused on the outside world, and there was unfocused mode. That's usually where your mind wandering. So you're thinking internally. Now focused mode is any time we're focused on that screen, that social media, whatever it might be, your brain is actually working really hard when you're outwardly focused with your attention. And in the past, we didn't have as much time in this focused mode, because now when we feel boredom, we focus on something, whereas in the past, we would probably mind wander. We would go internally. We would have time to sort of let our thoughts sort of flow and see where they take us. And it turns out that so this focus mode is kind of really hard work for your brain, whereas unfocused mode is more like a rest break. It's this period to sort of let thoughts percolate, to have this rest period and revive your brain and thoughts. So with all this time we're now spending outwardly focused associated with burnout, stress, drops and creativity, and all these different problems. And since you brought up teens and social media, I think also we need to ask the question, what are we focused on? You know, maybe if our attention was always outwardly focused on, I don't know, volunteering, helping others, having deep conversations, maybe that would be a good thing.

Michael Easter: The Main Argument of 'The Comfort Crisis'
"Book. I really enjoyed it. Why don't you start for our audience, just kind of, what is the thesis of the book? What is the main argument you're trying to get across? Sure. So the argument is that, as the world has become more and more comfortable over time, and it has, especially after the industrial revolution. We've lost things that help keep us healthy. So for example, we have engineered movement out of our lives. Our food system is mostly around comfort foods. We've also removed most challenges from our lives, and especially from our children's lives. And on and on and on, we've removed boredom from our lives. There's all these different forms of discomfort that humans evolved to face that used to keep us healthy that are no longer in our lives and we're paying the consequence for it.

More Lockdowns? We Don't Think So...
"They're trying to say, well, we need more lockdowns and you say, what do you need lockdowns for? And is it an interesting how the media covered the original reaction to the virus? Remember, they said, if you have church service on Easter, you're a super spreader. They were arresting pastors for defying these government ordinances. And some pastors, by the way, fell to the lie of Romans 13. So Roman's 13, by the way, this you could use this for all of your pastors and your friends. So Romans 13 says that you must submit to your governing authorities because they're there for your good. Now this is what's so beautiful about the founding fathers. Is the question must be, well, who's the governing authorities in America? We the people are the governing authorities. Not the mayor, not the governor, not the senator, and so when they tried to lock us down, the mayors were violating Romans 13 and we were staying, we were saying biblically obedience during all of it. But it's so interesting where they were so quick to go blame Christians as super spreaders. And yet you see what's happening and they're trying to shut down the country for monkeypox now. And by the way, this has just been so illuminating to me. Because they say, you know, we have to be very careful when we talk about monkeypox. Let me be very clear. I'm not afraid of getting monkeypox at all. And they were very quick to go after Christians to go lock down the entire society, but they don't want to say out loud. Oh, why is monkey puck spreading? Because I don't know, gay orgies in San Francisco are spreading it. And they said, well, you can't say I just did. I'll say it again, because gay orgies are spreading it in San Francisco, and we're not going to lock down our country over something I can't say out loud again.

"You have to kind of go out and do different things that challenge you the challenge your worldview in a lot of different ways because you buy never putting yourself in a position where you are uncomfortable whether that is physically hor mentally or with you know what you think to be true. You're not gonna. You're not gonna learn anything about yourself right and i think that in today's age it's a lot easier to never be forced out of your comfort zone now physically. That's very obvious right. I mean you could take a thousand steps a day and live today right like which i know what you mean when you say that. But we've gotten so sort of comfortable that people won't even understand that you mean that has a little like that won't register as like. Oh yeah that's in the spanish steps. Yeah so our ancestors. I think the average person takes about four thousand steps a day modern society our modern society. So you look at how our ancestors lived. They exercise they had to do fourteen times. More physical activity than us. Just to live pre-coded freak open. Now we're probably less So obviously there's the physical element right. But also i think psychologically increasing with what you talk about with the culture wars so if you look at young people today especially so people born after nineteen ninety. You see this rise in helicopter parenting because like media stories about kidnappings really high profile stuff now. Kidnappings weren't even increasing as a whole but there were just high profile ones. All the sudden parents are like. The Evangelism Podcast

"Easier on Easter. Number three, preacher short gospel message. And then when I say short, use that relative. Easter is not the time to roll out the 45 minute sermon. I can't preach 45 minutes. We have service turnover where we've got an empty the building and get more people in, and so maybe if you just have one service, you know what you want to do, but know this, hey, in my church and we have three Sunday morning services, 8 9 30 and 11 at 11 at 12 o'clock noon people's alarms go off, not rudely. Now they literally have someplace to be. And so I try to keep it shorter than that. I want to preach around 28, 30 minutes at the most, whereas a typical Sunday, I may be 35 to 40, but on Easter and one B 28 to 30 minutes because I'm saving plenty of time for an invitation. So number four, number three, rather keep the sermon shorter. Let me give you a fourth thing to make evangelism easier on Easter. Number four, anticipate no one's going to come forward during the invitation. Just assume it anticipated no one is going to come forward in the invite. For the reasons I said earlier, buildings packed, they can't get out too many people there. So you have to anticipate that. So we can sit around and complain about that. Or we can plan around the fact, hey, nobody's probably coming forward. And so how else can I get them to make a decision to follow Jesus Christ as the lord and savior? So let me anticipate no one's coming forward. So now let me change the invitation. I want to remove the barriers. And so just assume no one's coming forward, don't try to force it. So here's what I do in Easter, because I assume no one's coming forward, I don't even ask for it come forward invitation. Don't even ask for it. Don't even mention it. Don't say anything about it. And we do come forward every week, but on Easter we do not. I anticipate no one's going to do it. I assume that no one can. I assume they can not even get out of their rows and so, you know what? We just say, you know, they can't do it. So I anticipate it. So number 5 how to make evangelism easier on Easter. Number 5, use the simplest invitation possible. Now, every week I have people fill out a connection card. Every member, every person every week, we take those up every week. But if you don't want to do that every week and you should, but if you don't want to, at least do it on Easter. Here's what I ask people to do every Easter. Even my members fill out that entire connection card. Normally I say to my members, hey, just your name, any info that's changed, pray request. But on Easter I said, he was asking everybody, even if you're here all the time and have been here all the time, would everybody please fill the card out because we're going to double check everybody's contact info. We need your address your cell phone, your email. We want it all because we're going to double check everyone's contact info. And that makes sure people have it. So everybody has a card in their hand and a pencil or a pen. And so then I use that card as a decision card in the service. So at the end of my sermon, I'll lead in a simple sinner's prayer at the end of it, and I'm very specific, hey, this prayer doesn't save you.

"Before Easter is advice on how to remake your whole entire entire Easter service and it's too late for that. So with that in mind, let's talk about next year. So I think we had the results, I had at least 23 salvations that we know about. And that's not counting online. Our online platform, our decision piece crashed on so we have no online decisions. Which, by the way, when we get those, we follow up with them. Our decisions were 23 in person decisions. We're fairly upset over the mechanism crashing on Sunday, but we just have to live with it and hope we can figure those out going forward. So that was 23 in person decisions. And so let's talk about Easter and evangelism. Here's what I want to do. I want to give you three reasons evangelism is hard on Easter and I want to give you 6 ways to overcome it. Three reasons evangelism is hard on Easter in 6 ways to overcome it. Here we go, pastor. Why is evangelism hard to own Easter? Number one, it's crowded. It should be crowded. And I know that may seem obvious, but I'm going to tell you when you pack out a room and you feel up rose. I preached at a church before I was in the pastorate in that ten year period when I was not in the pastorate and I was working as a consultant. I appreciated church one Easter pastor actually brought me in. And we packed the building out. And I didn't have a mechanism. I was like, yes, preacher, so I didn't really have a mechanism to give any kind of invitation but a come forward invitation. And in this particular church, there were some rows that were literally like 50 feet long. They were enormous rows. They would see 40 people on a bench and so as soon as I walked in, I said, we'll have no decisions today.

"That's that's part of the process of the instant pot is that after they're done immediately you do them with ice water and that seems to give you the right combination of the eggs cooked, but the shell is just the right amount of brittle but tough so that appeals well, and I don't know we will never go back once you discover that your like I'm we'd enough hard boiled eggs that we do. Well, I know instant pots been off. Just so you have to get one now. Yeah, it's I think it's one of the we have a crock pot and that's always used for long-term cooking and I really love that. I love tender meals and where the flavor of a chance to really enter Miss and get good. But the instant pot is really cool for specific things. And when they went on sale at Costco, you know what I mean that it was two hundred bucks and it came down to like $89 something like that. Well, I really need to have this Easter. Did you guys ever go to church cuz I grew up Catholic and of course Easter was the big thing Ash Wednesday Palm Hyundai Good Friday, you know, there's a lot of church lent and I was never allowed to give up lent for Lent. So I'm still sulking about that one. But you know, it was always kind of a thing. Oh, it's Easter Sunday. You have to get dressed up in your little suit your good clothes you go to church, you know, they walk around do all the Stations of the Cross and then you go to Grandma's to eat a meal and have all the fun stuff it was dead. No growing up. It was like that. I haven't done that since I've been older did you guys do anything like that? Yeah, you know, this is very interesting. My parents are not heathens. They're actually religious but they get out food place not even well because it's funny. You know, I I am quite easiest you know what? I mean? I really I've read so much religion and mythology and folklore that it's hard to believe any of them. They all seem to be mythology enough.

"Fun and hct finds against like a prize. Oh yeah tradition. Yeah i love the The history of yeah sauce. Which i was totally aware of the tradition in the symbolism of it is really fascinating. Yeah so passover. Meals will certainly vary from household to household but one thing you will never find is humming gets which is food forbidden during the holiday and this is anything that is leavened or made with a leavening so like pancakes waffles. Sorta homemade cookies. Yeah cupcakes anything containing baking soda or baking powder or both so eastern is considered the most important christian celebration of the church year since the resurrection of christ is why christians are even christian. Because he's as gee whiz acerbic deal. Most of the food eaten on. Easter sunday is very symbolic just as it is for the jewish holiday christians and the juice pretty similar. Yeah there are some divergence. yes Yeah there there's lots of parallels i mean. We share the old testament so i have mentioned. Eggs represent the tomb of christ the physical representation of the concept of new life in christ in the ability to achieve spiritual rebirth. The tradition of having roasted lamb dates back thousands of years as mentioned to the time when the israelites as were held as slaves so as punishment for the faroe refusing to let his chosen go must've second sane. God sent the of death to kill the first born of all the egyptian household. Yes so. But god told moses to have the israelites sacrificed one lamb her household and use the blood of each lamb to mark the doors of their houses to ensure the angel of death pass over yet has ever yeah their homes. I learned about this growing up. Did you not. I don't. I did remember because i totally remember that. Because gra really left an impression on me. I remember this yeah. I'm like dating. Select my god. Are you kidding me. That will come down and just make your firstborn child goddess like. Don't worry guys use your dad. Don't use your first barn right. Isn't that what he's saying. No he's saying he's gonna take the first born of all. those asked chosen people sacrifice lambs. So i know that angel knows to pass you over because why because because he's punishing egyptians i know but like why is he using the lamb instead of the firstborn like. Why don't why doesn't he say from spun. I think a lot of your first born. I think he's just saying. I don't expect you to make that sacrifice. Yeah yeah so. Confusing is fascinating story. Yeah it is. Yeah so the angel of death would over their homes essentially sacrificing the lamb instead of their first born So god instructed them to roast the sacrificial lamb and eat the meat with unleavened bread and bitter herbs. It's like god was like it'll be really good this by get some rosemary. Skellig get some men. Yeah he liked cement right typical land. And that's that's the first passover meal and then that's why they continued to have lamb yeah And in fact like herbs with a rosemary goes with lamb met goes with. I don't know i'm just thinking. He like god knew what he was talking about. New flavors her. Yeah his flavor profile so many generations later and after the death and resurrection of jesus as many jewish followers converted to the new religion of christianity..

"Are my guilty merely to fuzzier belize. I like any of them. The cheapest like biggest and the black ones. The licorice one. Oh my god. The most popular jelly bean flavor slash color because whatever is going on them are the red ones the ones with the worst food color. Yeah we're all gonna so. The sweet part of eastern seems to actually have more importance than the church with sixty percent of americans saying they give easter baskets but only fifty one percent attend church. Last real food recipes for easter are usually quite indulgent featuring the foods that were forbidden during lent so eating lamb as the main feature for easter easter lamb. Easter lamb But typical tradition. Yeah because i was I grew up with ham. Same all tell you about okay. Yeah and i hate him. Look you don't even as a child. The spiral to fatty like you cut away. But even you know even in the middle you know we would get virginia ham sometimes. Yeah which. I like better because it's more chunks and it's very salty. Yeah this really good on that. His final ham. The honeybaked is not bad. Yeah it's still all that fat. Yeah sorry never going to change her eight. So funny okay. So lamb is indeed. The most common sort of like feature for easter across many different cultures roasted lamb. Dinner that many on easter sunday actually predates easter derived from the first passover seder okay. The jewish holiday of passover commemorates the israelites exodus from slavery in egypt and celebrates their liberation while recognizing their hardships. So on the first two nights of the seven or eight day holiday a seder held where families tell the story of passover using the haggadah. Our jewish friends. Please tell me that i'm wrong. Can i look at it. I'm just curious. Yeah that's how i would say and that never even heard that we're it's the written seder guide. Oh and they they feature at the Several symbolic foods. The ceremonial foods are presented on the seder plate. And while the food's can certainly vary there are few items that are always the same. The lamb shank bone an egg and horseradish so mayor the hebrew word for horseradish is used to symbolize the bitterness of slavery. The pizza or roasted egg symbolizes life and perpetuation of existence. Whole hard boiled eggs are used or you can roast the agony shell in a three seventy five degree oven turning the aga's often as the shell browns. Okay so you have to get like a white egg. Isn't that i kind of want to try that..

"Of jesus takes it on a different so the origins of the eggs like you mentioned some their story you know in their path is somewhat hard to trace throughout europe and early christian dumb but they're heavy use most likely arose and like western europe during the middle ages as a result of not being allowed to eat eggs during so as we in our mardi gras episode. It was the tradition to use up all of the household eggs before lent started which established the tradition of like pancake. Day while like. I just saw celebrated on. Shrove tuesday is mardi gras fat tuesday. Same thing but during like the chickens didn't stop producing eggs so the egg stash piled up and some say this is why they were saved and painted and used for games on eastern Other families made special dishes with the egg surplus like i saw this one example of a meatloaf with eggs to be eaten for easter dinner. Well it's kind of like I've seen the meat locally sent truck scottish okay. So scotch egg us gonna child. Yeah on my god. I made those once. They're so good. That but weird as you're making these like pack the around. Yeah yeah raw. Meat is just gross. I still i still handle it. But in spain a meat pie stuffed with pork spicy trees on hard boiled eggs is traditionally eaten around easter. In hungry eggs used Sliced in potato casserole around the easter period but this before easter. Yeah so they're okay with No this is like. I guess during easter tide. There may be are as concerned. But they're more. Can i would be more concerned with like the loss. Yes like not eating them right. Probably like maybe. Let's not eat baked goods during lent. We gotta use these exact right. Let's make some omelets. Yeah so i. I was like worried about the surplus of eggs during so i looked up like. Can you freeze silk can you. You can't can't. You can't freeze them in the shell because the moisture and the egg like will pop the shell okay. But you can freeze them. Like craft them into muffin. tins and freeze them individually. Okay either just the yolk or just the white can be together. You can do. Yeah and then pop them out of the muffin tents and like put them in the bag and you have like a dozen eggs frozen but then those eggs wouldn't be good for like a fly or like something that you need. You commit look scrambled eggs with them. Something or like alma mater. Right maybe ambitious goods. Maybe yeah With baked goods you have to be so precise but the chemical change at yeah. I think it's so scrambled eggs or whatever. Guess you're not wasting it. That's yeah so so. The modern substitute for chicken eggs has become chocolate eggs. Of course dulles wrapped in colorful soils feel like cadbury eggs. I like their other products. You don't like the cat are really rich. Yeah really rich. I would definitely take a vital fun roaming wild agreements. I'm rich and these to be moving your kids if maybe it was those little. They seem with your now. It's small and it's like more solid chocolate and like a little squirt of chris used to be big and you take a bite like i feel. I live here everything..

"Wow maybe now we can use these eggs but fifteen thousand eggs a phone line to the custom dates back to napoleon a- who while visiting visiting the area. He enjoyed his eggs so much that he asked that. A giant omelette be prepared for his troops so now each easter the cooks where their chef whites wield enormous wooden spoons. That look more like ors. And they stood the eggs in a massive pan over an open fire in the town square. It's a multi day festival that includes dancing music or parades but the omelet making is the main event super bizarre. Yeah still happens. Those might spends are not gonna like break. The yoke though. I'm worried that it's going to be like chunky. Do amid hyun i. I have a picture. I think by the picture for our instagram. Okay funds of see what it looks like but it is huge just circular vat and there's like multiple people starring it. We're maybe break the oaks before they papa me. Hopefully you know so in corfu. Greece residents mark holy saturday by throwing large clay jugs filled with water from the balconies of their homes into the center of town. So the islanders said they believed that the customhouse ward off bad spirits and spectators take pieces of the smash smash two pots home the electrons. Oh okay that's interesting. So the exact origin of this custom is unclear. One popular belief is that it originated with the venetians who ruled corfu between the fourteenth and eighteenth century To mark the new year the venetians throw out their belongings to make way for new ones in order to make a fresh start in the new year. I was gonna say they have to be like set for the recycling or something like grandmothers. Yeah or they need that you know. He mentioned public for easter. Just like here's your clay pots a sale on clay pot. Yeah just whip cheap for whatever. Yeah i would hope anyway. So the greeks adopted the custom. They introduced clay pots in moved into easter. Instead of the new year One of the most important holidays in the greek religious calendar which is different than what you were talking about. Right so they. "What happened to jesus. He acted with perfect love. And what did he get. As a result they put him to death. Who were they. They were the religious leaders and the roman political leaders as well as a mob of jesus people. The leaders were threatened by jesus. They were threatened by his teaching and by his good works his popularity. They were jealous and envious of him. They killed jesus by nailing him to a across jesus loved and the payment he receive was to die by the most agonizing death possible jesus loved others and his payment were nails pierced his hands and feet. It looked like love had died. Love had failed. Darkness celebrated. The love had lost. It looked as if love was powerless against the forces of darkness. That's the way this world often appears. It seems darkness and death defeat light and life. We see unnecessary. Terrorism violence. we witness acts of poverty and injustice. It all seemed so hopeless. That's the way those who follow. Jesus felt the day he died. They were crushed. They were crushed because they put their hope in him for a better world and when he died their hopes and dreams were dashed. It looked like love had lost but then something happened something that no one expected. Jesus didn't stay dead. Jesus conquered death on easter sunday. Jesus emerged from the grave victorious victorious over sin death darkness hatred gently in violence on good friday. All these things seem to have one but three days later on easter sunday jesus came out of the tomb. He who is love in action could not be defeated or kept down. Easter sunday is the celebration that love lives. God is love and he lives. It is the celebration that love and light are greater than death and darkness. Furthermore it is the celebration that the same power they gave. Jesus the ability to love others is available to you through a relationship with jesus. Christ you can access the power to love the people around you the way you really want to love them. We love people through our own effort. But by the power of god's love living inside of us we can access that power. And that's what this series is all about so i ask you to take to action steps especially if you are new or if this is your first time in church in a longtime or first time ever. I commit to join us in this series over the next few weeks. We're going to look at how we can access the power to love the people in our lives the power to love the people in our lives the way we desperately want to love them..

"Your children to feel your love for them but often maybe more often than you like you find yourself yelling at them or being critical of them. You want to serve your friends but when there are opportunities to serve them or sacrifice opportunities to sacrifice for them. You don't do it. We fall short of our desires to love people. We want to do better if that describes you. The new picked the perfect weekend to come to church. Easter is all about assessing the power to love. Better we see this in the first biblical reading. We heard today from the acts of the apostles acts of the apostles tells the story of the early christian church. It shows how jesus established the church to be a movement of god's love in the world. This movement shattered the idea. God's love his only for certain groups of people. They shattered the idea. God's love is for a certain nationality or for religious people or church people or good people for that matter. The movement shattered the idea. God's love is dependent upon our actions or behaviors. It shattered the idea. God loves you when you do good but doesn't love you. If you do wrong crowds of people would come to teach wherever he went. Jesus drew people towards him like a rockstar. The people who knew jesus knew he was powerful. His power went way beyond physical power. There was a spiritual power. It was a power that seemed to come from deep within him. That came from who he was. Jesus was and is love in action. He brought power to stand up for the lowly and he defended them. He had power and ability to develop relationships with people who were unconnected to god. He had a power that enabled him to feed thousands of people with simply five loaves and two fish through his power. Jesus lovingly challenged people to get rid of self-defeating behaviors. He healed people who were sick. He made the blind and the deaf here. He gave a paralytic the ability to walk and a mute. Boy the ability to speak. The bible tells us jesus spent entire days healing people in a world of hurt. Jesus brought healing to many many people every time you see jesus in the bible you see love in action. Sometimes his love is kind. Sometimes his love is gentle and sometimes his love is fierce and challenging. But every time you see. Jesus you see love and action. Maybe we assume. Since jesus was love action everyone would have positive feelings for him because if someone loves others does good and brings healing to a broken world. That person will be accepted and loved by all right. Unfortunately that's not the way the world works. We live in a thin stained world where justice is not always done. We live in a world where good things happen to bad people and bad things happen to good people you can do good and people might not like you. You can do good and people will criticize you..
