"With coveted When there's no reporters around, and the only news you get is through the zoom conferences is very difficult to know what's actually going on down there. If the normal reporters were down there all year. This story would have broken a while ago, but he has been there. Apparently for awhile. Theo Eagles have certainly needed help and talent evaluation. He's there. What you take Um, well, it makes it makes a lot of sense to me. I mean, John Dorsey has history with the team. He's worked for the team before. Um, he went Tomo when Andy left. In fact, when Andy left the Eagles and went to Kansas City to take over the chief's, he brought John Dorsey with him was the general manager. On. Then John Dorsey was let go there and went to Cleveland and ran the Cleveland operation. For a couple years and then was let go there. Um Race. This is none of this is sounding like a ringing endorsement. Well, sir, I don't know the circumstances under which he's left as a general manager, maybe support general manager. But I think everybody most people that I know regard him highly as a talent evaluator. Those are two separate things. I mean, most people kind of fold them into one job. General manager also runs personnel. Some guys. Some guys are good at one, not necessarily good at the other. That could be the case with John Dorsey but in terms of his ability to evaluate players in terms of his ability to draft, um, it seems to me like he's pretty good and is generally regarded as that. And that's that to me is that the biggest need for the Eagles organization is somebody to come in and And pick out players. I mean, just can watch a tape and say, Yeah, this guy can play now. That guy can't or a guy that can go to the East West Shrine game and watch a week of practice and say this guy, this guy, this guy? Yeah, they're good. These other guys forget it. I mean, there's an art to that. There's a knack to that and some people are good at and some people aren't and it's obvious The guys have been doing it for the Eagles for about the last six years aren't very good at it. So if they're going to get better, they have to get better by building a better roster. And it's those guys is those scouts. Is those personnel guys that build your roster for you? And so whether it's John Dorsey or whether it's somebody else. I think, if how he really is coming back, and from what everybody says it seems like it's a foregone conclusion of how he's coming back. Okay, but you better get somebody in that office with him is better picking players and the people who have been there before or else you're just going to keep going down the same road in Kansas City, Dorsey presided over the 2017 draft, where they took Patrick Mahomes. I don't think that was a no brainer at the time certainly worked out to be one of the all time great picks. It was by no means of a no brainer because he was Losing quote quarterback in college and nature, and they traded up significantly to get to the number 10 spot to take him at the time that at the time that the pick was made, everybody announces up. That's easy. Anybody could have picked him. Not really, if you go back to what was said that day. I can show you a lot of day after draft analysis and said, What are the chief's thinking? Trading up to draft? A guy was losing quarterback in college with a crazy Did they like that? Those same people like the true Boesky draft in Chicago? Yes, some of them, Ted, As you know, I mean, you knew my opinion of Mitchell Travis. Yes, I did. I thought that I thought the Bears were absolutely out of the really reached yet have to take him. Number two guy was crazy. Hey, drafted Karim Hunt That same year in Kansas City and Cleveland. He drafted Baker Mayfield, who's actually this? You look pretty good right on Nick Chubb, and he brought in Karim Hunt after his office E field stuff. Traded for Jarvis Landry traded for Odell Beckham likes big stars. I'll give him that much. Yeah, and you look at what what has happened with the Cleveland roster. Well, look what happened to the Kansas City roster when he was there and did the draft. I mean, they went from where they were to where they are. On Look at what Cleveland was when he went there. I mean, they were a wreck, and he went there and he ran a couple drafts and looks like now they're on the way to the playoffs. So yeah, I think John in the area of talent evaluation, I think John is very good. Now it's his administrative skills. Maybe that's where he gets in trouble. But we get along with people is that way. I have no idea. I mean, I've never I've never heard anybody say that. He's a bad guy. Um, but all I know is if I'm just looking for somebody that can come in and watch a tape and and find a player for me, you know, I think it seems to me like he's done that over a long enough period of time that I'll believe it. All right. Well, there you go. That's the news of the day. Now we want to get into actually what's happening today, which is the Eagles of playing the Arizona Cardinals out in Erin's Tempe. Resist Stadium is right. Arizona Health Glendale. That's right. Arizona. 6.5 Point favorite. We're gonna break that down. Come back. We're gonna talk about the two quarterbacks who are playing today who actually have a lot in common. And today being Sunday. We like to take your calls more so than on Saturday to 1559 to 94 94 21559 to 94 94 with Reagan John Glenn Mac now. 94 w ipe at.

"Well, this is where we talk about the importance of the game. It's the first game of the year. But you're on the road at Washington, which is not a good team Divisional game. I mean, We think must win. Joe Giulio biggest game of his career he ever close close, though it's must is strong, but the schedules tough this season and they always been like we opened with they Typically beat Washington in New York. They start the year We know they're going to win four games. It's part of how the Eagles get to the playoffs three years in a row. They they can't lose this football team. So call it what it is. They can't lose to them. There you have. It must win. Raid injure My pal. My partner on weekends is nice enough to join us today among all of his television duties. Ray. We got some pretty scary news about the offensive line. You and I speculated yesterday. What happens if Lane Johnson doesn't play? I don't know that we thought that it means the Jack Driscoll place and made her big plays. Right guard? Yeah, I didn't expect that. I figured that put prior at right tackle. Ah, and that that was going to be it. I didn't I really didn't procedure actress ical starting, but it just tells you what they think of prior a tackle. I mean, I think he scares them out there, but, um, but the question is now you know, Jack Driscoll. How ready is he to play? Well, we'll know about 1 15. I suspect. Yeah. So I mean, I saw him play at Auburn, and he was a good player at Auburn. I mean, the thing that you like about him released. I liked about him coming out of college and into the draft as he was. He was very versatile. I mean, he played every position except center Ah, at at Auburn, and we went to the East West Shrine game that wiki lined up, but every spot on the offensive line and they looked comfortable there. I mean, he's a smart guy, and he Um, he obviously can can make things up on the fly. He's the one thing that I thought he really needed to do was. I thought he just needed to get stronger. I mean, there were times when he was up against really Strong, strong guys could pull Russia. He had trouble with those guys. But in terms of his his footwork, ah, and his awareness being able to see where the bullets were coming from A guy's tried to loop in my astronomy always saw it coming. And he looks like a smart kid. Who? Ah, who is a quick study, But hey, better be because he got this start on very short notice. Yeah. Ross, did you get a chance? I didn't ask you this before. Did you get a chance to watchman all college? You the scouting report on the guy? You know, Ross, I'm asking Rostock. Ray. How are you? Hello, Ross. How you doing? Good. Yes. Oh, I think Ray actually nailed it. You know whether when he was at U Mass, And then when he went to all burn you Mass. He played guard. All Bernie bumped out to tackle Really smart, really good athlete, probably a little bit lighter than you would think. If anything, he's susceptible to power. And so we'll see whether or not you know, my guess is pretty early. These Washington D ends will just see how much lead he has in his but as they say, and they'll take it to him, and we'll see whether or not He's able to withstand the challenge. It's interesting because that's sort of the main concern with Andre Dillard as well was how well they hold up against the bull rush. Yeah. And we don't have Andre Dillard right now, anyway, So there you go, Ray. If you're game planning this for the Eagles, let's take each side of the ball will stick with offense first. Given what you know about the injuries, and Miles Sanders is not playing. We didn't mention that with you. If you're Doug Peterson in scan your Elo and Marty Morning wagon that whole cast. What's your plan? Uh, I don't think you're going toe to toe dominate this one in the line of scrimmage because that's where their strength is. And right now you're in a real state of flux. So to me, this looks like, you know, Put the ball. Carson wins his hand. Get it out. Quick, Lot of quick passes smokescreens. It's plants, you know, flat plants that kind of stuff. Ah, and take a couple deep shots, leaving to take a couple deep shots on hit a big play here and there. But I think this is a game where you have to accept the fact that they're going to be better than you at the line of scrimmage right now. Aah! And you have to take a little of that pressure off the offensive line by not ask them to hold their blocks too long. So I think this is going to be, you know, quick drop, quick throw kind of passing game would be would be my guess and good opportunity to get your two tight ends involved. It's like I'm quite I'm glad they got regular here because I mean, it's sort of that kind of game. They brought him in forest. Put him in the slaughter Jets sweep or do some different things with him and get the ball in his hands. But I don't think this is a date game where you're going to come in and try and win in the trenches because I don't think you're built to do that. How about on defense? Well, defense. It's all about. You know, the question is, you know how you're going to deal with McLaurin. I mean, he's honestly I mean, look at this team up one side and down the other. They got nothing. I mean, outside of him. They really, I mean, you know Gibson, Gibson's a talented kid. But he's really more of a receiver than he is a running back right now. They're going to try and make him a running back. But I don't think I don't think this team even going to try to really run the ball that much. Ah, he'll line up in the backfield, but I'd probably still be more of a receiver. They have one guy that scares you. I mean, if you're looking at this is the defensive coordinator you're saying OK, who scares me on that side of the ball? It's MacLaren. So that's you know, that's where the Eagles focus has to be. And you know, that's part of the reason why they made the trade. To bring Darius Slay in here is to be the guy who could actually take care of a receiver like that. So that's Kind of what you're doing. You're goingto gotta account for McClaren. Don't let him feature brains out the way he did last year and then hopefully you get past rush on Haskins, Who's not who's not the most mobile guy in the pocket. I mean, a combination of those two things and the Redskins. You know, I don't think that you're no score done today. I think they're going to struggle may be a little bit offensively because I think the defense is just ahead of the offenses right now. Ah, but I don't think the Redskins can score it all. I mean, we just finished doing the pregame show here. CB at NBC. And Seth Joyner picked a shutout, he said the Eagles, he said, the Redskins your sense of the Redskins won't score a point. No, I'm going not going quite that far. But I don't think the Redskins are going to score much. Your pick. Yesterday was my pick. Yesterday was Eagles 20. Redskins seven on Raymond. I'm giving him a touchdown just for what it's worth both the raw second Joe Julia believe I will win our side of the stupid football better. Is that right? That's correct. So I'm writing with that. Yeah, I think you're right now. I would make you the favour. Yeah. You always like to make yourself the underdog. Oh, I don't know if I can win. You've already looked at the menu. Ray. Let's face it, Reitinger. It's always my pleasure. I look forward to talking to you during the week. My friend. I look forward to it as well. Take care. This is the Eagle's radio network presented by PNC Make today the day 94.

"Lord your team so you can go to your team and read five hundred words there you go. That's that's that's what most people will probably do. I know I'm going to. I'm going to scoot right over to the athletic and check out what you wrote about the giants if you wrote bad things. I'm going to send those sorts of nasty notes. You can smash me absolutely okay. All right thanks Mike. Take care all right. Lots of interesting stuff there from Mike. Sando of the athletic. Let's take a quick break here for a word from our espy nation sponsors. When we come back I'll play for you an interview that I did with temple wide receiver Isaiah right giants fans. I'm joined now by. Nfl draft hopeful. Is there right wide receiver from temple as we look forward to the two thousand twenty. Nfl Draft Isaiah. Thank you very much for joining the show. Hey So you. If I'm not mistaken you did not get a combine. Invite correct not were you. Were you hoping for wanted? You expect to get one surprised that you didn't get one You know just just thoughts on that Yeah I was expecting one and I. I was more hopeful. I didn't know what to expect. But you know things are still going well so. I wasn't really discourage our kind of is point right so you you did get a chance to participate in the East West Shrine game and from everything that I read and everything that I that I heard That went pretty well for you. Just described that experience. And you know who you got to talk to their and and you know how you feel like that helped you You know going toward the draft or you know I got to go and compete with some guys that you know were the same caliber talent and it was just a good experience just to you know. Learn from a lot of people like other players like I was down there learning in talking to you. Know other coaches and scouts and you know they were just telling me to be myself doing it and to enjoy it and sometimes what you need because a Lotta Times you know when you have prices you you you kinda over. Thinks he's sometimes you just need to calm down. I guess I've never been in that situation but I would guess that it's it's easy to forget that it's it's a once in a lifetime experience and that That I guess you should take it all in and enjoy it while you're in the middle of it exactly sometimes you when you're in is hard to savor the moment sometimes. I have to come back to that reality so that we can do so. Have you Out of curiosity. My site covers the New York giants. Have you spoken with the giants at all? Yeah we'll continue the conversation You know we're just going to say know. Go ahead go ahead. You're talking about the giants so go ahead now just I- conversations with the giants. You know very hope. I don't know you just you experience in a good opportunity and I was grateful. Good good Can you if I was to ask you your what about six to two twenty. Correct your third. And you've been used you've been used as a as a punt and kick returner as a wide receiver as a running back If I was to ask you to give me a scouting report you know on what you would be bringing to an NFL team What would you say I would say I would be bringing This you know The ability to adapt I'll be bringing the versatile consistent talent and You know somebody that's willing to do whatever they have to do to you know. Learn and look and you know there are some guys in the NFL. Now guy like Like deebo Samuel. Got A lot of attention this past year for for being able to do a lot of different things. Cordeiro Patterson has has made a career out of you know being a wide receiver being a a running back being a kick returner. I think time Montgomery's done some of that. Do you see yourself as that sort of a versatile sort of offensive weapon more than I'm a wide receiver or or on the Kicker Turner or whatever I see myself as someone. Is You know versatile in the sense of where needed I can play that position. You know a lot of times people wanna just play specific position and you know I always had a love game where I just wanted to be on sale. Whether that was being returned kick return ours. You know what I'm saying. I just write loved their feeling of being on a suit and jubilant and the possibility of making a big place so however eat on the field was however starting to get on the field right so so you talk about you know we. We mentioned the fact earlier. That didn't get an invite to the combine so D- feel like in the fact that you're not able to to run a traditional pro day that the with the with the virus going around. Nfl teams are shut. Down and scouts aren't traveling has that. Does that hurt you at all? Or how are you dealing with? You know trying to get your name out there and get your film out there for NFL teams at this point. I think kind of was going on right now and you know the Korean and everything is just kind of suing us. How we should have faith over fear and I've been allowed any of that discourage me you know. I put the work in and I know you know. I know what I can bring to a team and I'm just hoping that you know someone else. Would I feel like I see and like I said I'm from girl? Allow myself to be overwhelmed with things that I can't control. Have you been able to you know since the shutdown have you been able to talk to any any? Nfl teams or or anyone from from you know NFL offices. At all. I know some. There's no go ahead. I'm sorry I talked to a couple of teams not talk to a couple of guys you know and they were just having to not allow these times to discourage me because I found you know and people recognize my talents so again I say I just contained to grind and allow my. I allow myself to have faith in times. They're trying right now call. Hey before I let you go. I have to ask you about one of your teammates. Guy Who I know. Giants fans are interested in Guy Who probably is looked at as maybe a day to prospect. I wanted to ask you about About your thoughts on on Matt Hennessy. And you know what kind of teammate he is and what kind of NFL PLAYER. You'd think he might be. Will you know Matt Hennessy? That's the type of guys that you know is gonNA come in. He's going to work done. No He's not there to play You know when you're trying to accomplish in his mind and Matt I mean so you know I'm excited to see is going to bring you know and is saying but the giants. I think you should be excited to get somebody to that hard working at the tournament and I've seen that'd be retailing. Degree fit all right Isaiah. Thank you very very much for spending a few minutes with me. Appreciate that best of luck to you. Hopefully hopefully you'll hear your name called in the draft later this month and if not hopefully you'll land somewhere with an opportunity to make a roster Valentine line I appreciate you because another five gas. They'll talk to you. Thank.

"east west shrine" Discussed on NFL: Move the Sticks with Daniel Jeremiah & Bucky Brooks

"And now move the sticks the divisional round with Daniel Jeremiah Bucky Brooks and read Louis. Hey Hey everybody welcome to the move the sticks takeaway podcast following a terrific divisional round a weekend in the playoffs. Right Lewis here in studio radio with Bucky Brooks. Dj is on his way to Tampa for the East West Shrine game as it is championship week now in the NFL and his all star season is in in College Football Dj in Andrew. Getting Ready Intersil Yano getting ready for the East West Shrine game this Saturday and then Bucky and I in the nightcap this Saturday from the Rose Bowl we'll take the baton for the NFL PA collegiate bowl so we're excited for that. They'll have practices this week. that we're going to be at will actually take our next podcast stuff from the Wednesday practice at the NFL PA game practice in at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena. So we're excited for that. But of course we today are taking a look back at the divisional round of the playoffs. We also saw the final head coaching piece. PUT INTO PLACE BY THE CLEVELAND. Browns hiring hiring offense coordinator for the Vikings Kevin's defence. Qui Quick reacts on that before we get into the to the divisional round takeaways. Here Buck. Well I'm not surprised by the canvas defense key higher. Sure if you hear the conversation coming out of the last go round it. He interviewed very well. Any impressed a number of the people in the front office final the final slash year. So I'm not necessarily a surprise. And then when you begin to kind of put the pieces of the puzzle Together and how. The browns are kind of reportedly wanting to move to a more analytical base thing chemist danske pain graduate policy for destiny in a Harvard graduate in their proposed. Angie very also being a Harvard graduate it would would appear to work. I have some questions about how you can put all of those pieces of the puzzle together while also changing the culture. But that's something that chemist fancy Danske can address at his initial press conference. Obviously I plays out. Yeah we'll get into that Who's he going to bring along for his staff? Interesting as well guys that are going to be in that frame of mind and with an analytics background and then of course that leaves a hole for the Vikings to fill perhaps Gary Kubiak to jump into the role their soda. They're also moving on from their defensive coordinator George Edwards there in Minnesota's well so kind of a fresh start at the upper levels of the Vikings coaching staff after their loss to the forty niners. Yeah Yeah like this. Is this the the Kinda crossroads right and the Minnesota Vikings Not only with the coaching staff. You alluded to Kiev Stefanski moved. There probably means Gary Kubiak comes down and takes over over's office coordinator. George Edwards contract wasn't renewed. So Rail Mike Zimmer has to figure out how does he want to handle the defensive coordinator position he is a guy that calls player. So it's not huge deal together that's going to carry the title and do all the stuff takes place behind the scenes and they gotta make some decisions. Asians on players Everson Griffen than some of their other players are up. How since in the last year of his deal now so how did they want to go forward and this is a team that has done? I mean they've kind of done at all. We've seen goes to the championship game. We've seen him bow out early. We seem to get to the division round which they did against the forty niners at just haven't been able to get over the Hump so so major major major decisions. If I'm not mistaken. I think there's something going on with their general manager. Rick Spielman maybe his deal is GonNa go maybe you. Maybe he's about to enter the last year ever so a lot of conversations that need to be had with their front office in terms of what the future looks. Looks like and we'll get into that. Vikings Forty niners game here shortly early but let's begin our division around takeaways with the wild and wacky and one of the most courageous games we've ever ever seen in the postseason the chiefs versus the Texans buggy get started with the chief side. TV stars slow but finished fast goal to go for the chief fleeting forty one thirty one. We have played a minute and three seconds in the fourth quarter. They action fake left side our city in quite a touchdown in his five-year career. Either in the regular season this is his first post-season game what was exciting bill. Also Kelsey cut right. So here's my take away from the chiefs. It's one thing that I've worried about. Having played in the stadium hadn't been apart the chiefs having had the number one seed in home field when you play a home playoff golf game. And you're the favorite and you may be prohibitive favorite. There's a lot of pressure can kind of seep in To the sideline deck in effect you with the Kansas City achieve to one thing that I was worried about is not necessarily them coming off the bye week but they have so many young players. How did they quickly adjust to the playoff environment and atmosphere when you had a week gough? Meanwhile the Houston. Texans have kind of gotten battle-tested because they had that overtime win against the buffalo bills and I think what we saw in the opening quarter we saw all of the nerves. Kinda play out. They had uncharacteristic drops. Behead bad plays turnovers tyreek Hill muffed a punt. All all of the things that we really haven't seen from this team it Kinda played out at I fifteen minutes. They're saving grace and we'll always be there saving grace is they have the office that is is. It's like a video game office like when they get to rolling when when that offense kind of catches fire they can score points in bunches in the fact that they scored was it forty. One straight on forty-one unanswered unanswered points after that that is. I mean that is that you can't even think think about an NFL offense being able to do. So when people make the comparison and I've likened them to the Golden State Warriors of the most recent years where man when the three ball stores going when they get hot. It's good it can run you out the stadium and that's what we saw happen to the Houston Texas to MVP's in this game for the Kansas City chiefs. I am not talking about Patrick Mahomes Travis Kelsey or even Damien Williams Daniel Sorensen McColl Hartman. Yes in this game because it it was about stemming the tide they needed to make some place to stem the tide that the Texans had built in that lead so it started with Daniel Sorensen Lawrenson and it started before the Michael. Michael Hartmann return because Sorenson tackle Duke Johnson. A yard shy of a first down on third and nine. They got eight yards brought up a fourth and one bill. This is when they were up. Twenty one nothing bill. Deepen chiefs territory. Bill O'Brien wanted to go for. Yeah tried to go for dating in the right right personnel or didn't have the right play. Something got screwed up so he called the time out. They ended up having to kick the field goal. They are up twenty four to nothing right so then me Kohl Hartman comes in. They needed a spark and soon kick off after the field goal he goes fifty eight yards right there and now it's like all right. This is is what this is more like us. This is the we're the chiefs. This is what happens. We're exposed to plays fifty nine seconds. Later touchdown was on the you know the juice. It is so funny money because I think what we saw all weekend. The Emotional Ebbs and flows in playoff games at different in a regular season like the highs are so high in the low. Those are so low and sometimes if you don't have a mature enough team to navigate through it you can find yourself on the on the short end of the stick for the Kansas City chiefs. They were Kanada desperate situation when they kick off to Biko Hartman because they try to put re-keeled and that kind of speaks to. That was one of the time before that on the the poverty poverty for return because he's the designated hitter big place where we can put him back daycare. You need a sport he must. That's when we see them kind of run out because the probe over Turner who had done it all year comes back and he breaks off a big return and you can feel the energy and then when it's going to play and now yeah was to snowball effect of. Oh my gosh. What are we GONNA do here? They come here. They can fences feeling they. Force a three and out on the next Texans offensive possession. Then the Texans I'm trying to fake punt on fourth down. What didn't hate it? I didn't eat the book and and I will say this source and again there it is one tackle will against Justin Reed gives them down great tackle because any other situation might Wanna one. That's what you live for in the national four yard. Go make a play go makeup and it wasn't it wasn't always I do understand with bill. O'Brien said Bill. O'Brien said he felt like he had to get out of the stadium with fifty points to get a win. Yeah and so. So he was fifty two overaggressive. Try going forward. But that's stop and once they get A. Ah and you could just kind of feel going once that offense got to rolling a tough so that was the fake punt. Sorenson comes up with the biggest tackle the game right there because if you felt like Houston converted converted. Maybe they stem the tide right because when you looking at the game I think the one thing that you notice very early Houston was playing very deliberate in slow. They were taking the play clock down to under five seconds on each snap they were trying to shorten the Games shrink the game and really put the pressure back on. Kansas City's offense to feel the heat he'd of having to score and having to chase points and that play stem the tide gave it another opportunity to score and then once they seconds later are they scored their second touch once they closed to within what fourteen ten twenty four to fourteen at that point and you can fill villain and then I'm looking at the clock at the end of the second half in the second quarter saying man if Houston doesn't have a drive here because Kansas City got the ball coming back. I'm doing kickoff. They forced sorts enforce another football and then it was twenty four twenty one. And you're like now. It's more than a run that achieved running. Now you're try. And so as well as it played out for the Houston Texas in the first quarter. Everything leads they lose present everything all the momentum all the advantages before you even get into half-time. Yeah they can't seem to get in the ball out you just knew they're going up at that point. It was a runaway. So let's just finish the thought here on this game with the Texan side of things. I have never seen a game. Where special teams had such a huge impact both positively positively or negatively on team's fortunes in a game infects is about to get it back to kick off on our left to right hand and just one short? Here's Carter at the one yard line straight ahead. Five ten fifteen twenty and the ball's out and he's gotTa Props Absentee Woodside the flood on his daddy yard line when topped the ball pop. Why did you his hands and the keys? I go.

"Office west Seneca. Tis the season for you be football players to be at you know, these all the all star games, and we just had Cam Lewis and Chuck Harris in the tropical bowl Tyree. Jackson. Anthony Johnson her working out this week at the senior bowl and Khalil. Hodge was at the east west shrine game. So good time for you be football off a good season for them. We are joined on our western hotline by Khalil. Hodge bulls. Linebacker khalil. It's howard. And Jeremy here in buffalo. Good morning, sir. How are you? How are you? Guys. You guys. Thanks. We appreciate you getting up early out west to come on with us. So I guess first thing I'd love to ask what was the whole week. Like, what was the experience like for you? It was a it was a great experience, you know, the east west shrine. They do a lot of a lot different data aspect is giving, you know. Given the chance to go to the hospital and interact with those kids, you know, it's something that it's more than just the game of football. And to get that experience really really good opportunity to just to live and just embrace that that entire data is really cool. You know, and of course, football and playing with those to those cop common garnered great spirits, but just the whole thing. It was it was awesome. How much did you learn do you think during the week of of practices and playing in that game and getting the coaching and going up against the competition? The guy from the other power conferences. Did you? Learn a lot. Yeah. Definitely definitely, you know football football. But we've got a chance a lot of their coaches of for the were for the bills. And so that was pretty cool. You know, buffalo connection, and you know, just just the speed of the game and stuff like that. Playing in games like that and the coaching too. I mean, I you think technique and just different things you you might have been exposed to during that week. They would help your overall game too. Definitely definitely take your stuff. This way Sardinia that I've gone into millions my day. And. What did you have in your mind Khalil going into the week? Did you have anything in particular in terms of a goal or goals that you wanted to accomplish? Yeah. Just to compete. Loreto playing the match people. And it's a small school small. You know, SEC yards. I just wanted to show their on below, you know. I mean, just. Did did you feel you were successful in that area? Definitely definitely. Football football. Helmet on their player. So it was a great is that, you know. I was wondering, you know. Maybe we'll we'll talk hopefully to tie Jackson. Anthony johnson. Asking the same thing. You know? Yes. It's you being it's the mid American conference. Is that something you guys think about maybe others would think about smaller school guys and not having you on the plane, but you guys don't think of that as players or is that a chip on your shoulder? I don't know anything about it. And to be honest. Guys, right, Tyree dot Asia. You know, we're getting through some of the best best talent in the country. You know day on prices. So definitely don't think about that. But like you said, you know, people do and coming up to deal with it. So you have that to help you prepare for the draft. What else are you doing? Are you working out or training with anybody in particular as part of your draft preparation? Yeah. I'm actually shining an excellent excellent incendiary across when you're right now, I've been there ever since basically the sister. I it's a new year. Moving training. Six days a week and a great. A bunch of great guys Rojas working there. What are you are you training specifically for pro day? Are you are you training? Do you guys do any work at all? Unlike interviews and meeting with teams what what is what is covered out there. Yeah, we do actually focused on the tradition. You know to extreme. Say we do interview based stuff you do. Skin color about defense's sounds like that Israeli company burning and they really didn't get a chance to to get right? This could be. We're with calill Haji on our western hotline. How much do you think you B's success helped you Cam Lewis Chuck Harris, Tyree Jackson, Anthony Johnson? The fact that you guys got to ten wins. Your in the MAC championship game. You've got a bowl bid. How much you think that factored into everything I think a lot, you know, the end of the day on so like teams for like general managers, you know? Really O'Connor change a culture. I guess you could say something. Open a balloon is. Let's who wins, you know, they have to have no some people and for those for general managers to get opportunity to see all of us. You know, rental the games, I think it definitely played a huge role. I know the season didn't end the way you guys wanted it to end. But when you have a chance to step back calill and think about this the overall picture of the last football season. I'm sure you're going to remember it rather fondly right with everything that happened. Definitely definitely, you know, it was a special experience with a special group of guys, you know, more than anything, you know, just to the bonds and the relationships that I've made in buffalo. Others forever. You know? You know, my wedding someday down on me. So just to have that time of season is like I said, just just a culture, you know, a lot of us played on that too. A few years ago. So to be the opportunity two years later than just Tresco process. Is it really says a lot about hard, work, and perseverance? I think you might have just answered my final question. I wanted to ask you, you know, as one of the seniors. What are what is the legacy or what are pieces of the legacy? You believe you guys have left behind. You know, like I said from the very beginning. You wanted to read somewhere leave something better than you sounded. Part of the for that. Year to wipe out both looking horrible. Just a you know a basketball. Where? Go really and let you know. Hey, there could be. Football team Detroit. And it didn't work out. He wanted it to know seniors. We definitely show like accomplish the goal. Well, congratulations on the season and your personal accomplishments at UB as well and all the tackles you piled up and the best of luck with everything in the off season and the draft prep. Thank you. I appreciate that a lot. Thanks for giving us your time this morning. Thank you for joining us. Former UB linebacker on our west her hotline was the east west shrine game. Last week. We've got some puns to get to an extent of sports. But I wanna tell you a story about the Phoenix Suns new arena deal. This is from deadspin. They got they they haven't arena. They're getting renovations. Okay. Because I know move with the coyotes having to try and find an arena six two two vote. The Phoenix city council has approved to fund renovations for the sons arena. The city of Phoenix will pay one hundred fifty million dollars renovations. The Suns will pay eighty million plus any cost overruns the city also plays. We'll pay an additional twenty five million for future maintenance. Anyway, according to the Amazon Republic Phoenix the city is covering sixty five percent of the renovation costs, which is the second highest share of tax payer money of the fourteen arena. Deals reached around the country in the last five years. It's also one of the shortest deals that extends at least by fifteen years berry, Franceschi points out that Phoenix is still paying off the debt on a loan. It took out to open and build the arena in one thousand nine hundred ninety two. Here's the kicker though. This is the most amazing point. There is. A story on apparently a man came to the microphone, you know. A lot of people that spoke about this town meeting two-thirds of voters are are against it. But it passed because two thirds of residents are against it. But people who spoke before the committee were generally in favour of it. There were a couple of people that were against it, including one an older man who when he got to the microphone said on August thirteenth nineteen Ninety-seven. I walk into the miracle. Board of supervisors auditorium and shot Mary rose. Well, Cox over the baseball stadium tax matter. Indeed, he did nine hundred ninety seven Larry name and shot a council member over her support to for taxes to fund the Diamondbacks stadium. Convicted of attempted murder serve twelve years before being released and then appeared yesterday at the meeting to say, hey, scare I one shot a person over this. He says he does not regret what he did twenty two years ago in his speech before the city council, he called the funding of the sons renovation, quote an act of violence against the public. Little too extreme for me. That's pretty intense. Yeah. Hey, less time. You guys did this. I stop somebody. Did they all duck? When he's saying that by the way, like I would immediately wondered if he's about to do it again but hundred fifty million dollars from the city of Phoenix to renovate their stadium there arena for the sons, don't you think if there's if there are cities that could pass most if not all the costs along through tourism taxes, like they'd be a shining example. But even when you do that like that just sounds better you're still taking money away from your own city. Oh, yeah. Could go and other technically paid by other people, but they're supposed to be paying, you know, said it can go to other services shore as it should. But at least you're not getting out of your own people. I mean, you are. Well, if I if I. Directly from five garnish your wages, your pain. Yeah. Yeah. It's still it's just being used something different. In this case. It's an arena as opposed to fixing interstate whatever, whatever the case may be interesting. Let's well, thankfully, the guy didn't pull a gun this time on. So you're ready for your son. Here's here's your assignment to trucks crashed. Thank you for your tireless work on the sidelines. The MVP's Syria Godwin for the east from the university of Georgia four receptions for eighty yards to scores and Justin Holland's off the defensive end from Oregon ten tackles nine assisted in a couple of sacks as well for how it's all right. Derek will start with you. And let's go to your your two picks from this contest today. The post game I'm gonna go with two defensive players. I am going to go with Justin Holland's, I thought he played well, and I will tell you. Traditionally I am not a fan of Oregon defensive players at the next level. Just because defense has not been what Oregon is traditionally done. Well, and those guys in my opinion of Ben a little soft when they've gone to the next level. But I thought Justin Holland's definitely turn some heads today improved. His stock a little bit and got his draft process. Started off on the right note and then defensively for the east Jordan Belfort, I thought statistically not necessarily filling up the sheet, but he turned some heads with his speed is ability to get after the quarterback Brian for me. I gotta go make Dr Holman everybody's looking for that shutdown cornerback I thought he played terrific one on one coverage all day long. And and then you know, I got to go with Dustin Holland. I love the way play the game again or is not known for their defense. But he really stepped up did a great job. Oh, all right. All right. Love working with you guys. I think we decided or I'll give you the specifics on that in a couple of minutes, but it should be perfect conditions going to be cold. But it should be one of the reasons are going to be cold is because it's not going to be a cloud in the sky Sunday night going into Monday. So you should be able to see this phenomenon with the moon under clear skies. Well, wearing about nineteen coats. So there you go on a on all of that. Australian Open is going on the so weekend. And Richmond's at Davidson tomorrow. That's a twelve thirty tip off. I believe North Carolina State is at Notre Dame. So those are games that will be televised. Don't see looking down the list a. Yeah there. It is six o'clock tomorrow. ESPN? And that's where you have Virginia at Duke. So that should be a pretty good game. Then you've got the sons in the Hornets tomorrow. And that game starts at five o'clock, which is kind of weird me on Fox Sports southeast. Phoenix Suns are in town to play the Hornets and then the Hornets go on a road game to Indiana on Sunday. And then onto a Memphis. And the checkers are in town. So head on over to bojangles. Tomorrow six p and the play Toronto and Sunday at one pm. They play Toronto. You know, you you you learn to deal with it. And you had that. But you know, I gotta give those to, you know, the people that were in the program when I got there, they really, you know, they really have my back. They made sure I knew how to plug in my car, you know, on those days when there to let us know us is, you know, and they made sure that I knew how to get around even though the small city they made sure I knew how to get around. It made. Sure that you know, one thing that frame would did when I was in this program with that we had weekly talked, and we just talked about my my aspirated because I told him when he met me. I still wanna go to NFL that is my dream. And that's what I'm chasing right now. And during that time that I was up there. We have weekly talk just about what it would take for me to accomplish my dreams what it would take me to get put in this position. And we went for it man, and he had my back through it, and I'm favorite thankful for that. So I'm just curious. This occurs to me. How long did it take you to drive to Regina from Colorado twenty two hours, and I drove it straight. Mike Jovic straight through of only stop to get gas. When I got to Canada. I was so just hired just beat up from the long drive. But when I got there because they coach at the time that man, you know, what just go lay down. Just don't get a break. We know how tough it what get here. But a man. Wow, you're making me really rim initiative. Think about this situation. I got set up and set me up in the dorm. And I promise you split for about thirteen hours. It was a a came. What you what would you say? If I told you that. I once watched a football game in mosaic stadium. No way. Did. I did. Yeah. I I saw I went up there in two thousand thirteen the first week of the CFL because I was so tired of covering all the crap in June in the NFL in early July when nothing really happens. So I went on a on a Friday a non sorry. On a Saturday early afternoon. I went to the opening game in Calgary stampede IRS. And then drove with a photographer. I drove to Regina and on the way, I'm trying to remember..

"Games. Bet. Online dot AG. Use the promo code podcast one. Let's go head to head. Alabama Georgia SEC championship. I will be there Texas Oklahoma in the big twelve championship Clemson pit for the ACC title, Ohio State, northwestern in the big ten Utah versus you dub Washington out in the Pac twelve what do we got in terms of quarterbacks versus top defenses. Yeah. We talked about Clayton Thorson from north western big test for him this weekend. So high state and that defense, I know that they've been up and down. You know, we know that they are not the greatest unit that the buckeyes I've ever fielded but still have some NFL town upfront. Chase Yang the true sophomore defensive end. Looks like a guy is going to be a force for them moving forward. Draymond Jones is gonna really intrigues me inside at defensive tackle. So watch those guys getting after Thorson Damodar net and KENDALL Sheffield corners that have been a little bit up and down. But NFL people have their eyes on moving forward. So big test there for Clayton. On the other side. You've got Wayne Haskins going up against the northwestern defense that has some town as well at the second and third level. You know, you look at linebacker. The senior Nate hall and the junior Patty Fisher, certainly a couple of guys keep an eye on in this game. And then the senior corner Monterey hardy I mentioned earlier going to the to the east west shrine game. So keep an eye on those guys on Saturday. And then Friday night match MAC championship game Rossi got buffalo. And we're going to annoy you saw buffalo quarterback Tyree. Jackson big test rim against northern Illinois defense, they can get after the quarterback look at that pass rusher Sutton Smith a little bit under size for the huskies. But guy that certainly can get after it. We'll see what he translate to in the NFL. Looking forward to check in that one out Friday night for sure how about running back versus linebackers. Yeah. We've got that Pac twelve title Friday night as well. And you know, you got miles Gaskin how to big game last week in the apple Cup against wazoo going up against this Utah defense and Utah's got players at all three levels. But keep an eye on Markey's Blair for all the reasons we talked about earlier like I said, he is a throwback guy. He plays both free safety and strong safety depending on the game. So we'll see if he's kind of up near the box against Washington. And if he plays more in Gaskins grill, and we'll see how that matchup turns out, but that's one to watch Friday night. And then we'll look at the SEC title game. Ross the game that you're doing you've got Damian Harris one of my favorite running backs in the country going up against Georgia that front seven now obviously that defensive line but also at linebacker keep an eye on not transparent. A senior was a backup last year. He's got it. He can play downhill he's he's a fun guy to watch because the traits really the big question with Patrick has just been off the field. But on the other side, Alabama's gotta stop that Georgia run game. The Andrea swift Elisa Holyfield, those guys that'll. Eligible for twenty twenty draft. Go you look at Alabama and that front seven MAC Wilson is just so explosive..
