"Yeah. We there is a story in the news today of how a recently Representative to the to the legislature. Came under attack from a local in double A C P member. It's it's crazy. And when it first came to my attention earlier today, I'm like, this is this is something that should be true. But it's something that happens. All too often, the N double ACP the national association for the advancement of colored people set out against. A republican. Who happens to be an American of African descent I had the opportunity to speak to Representative black men today to try to get down to the bottom of what what happened in the center ring of the conservative circuits. We have Representative of Blackman just newly elected right here in the great state of Arizona. And all of a sudden, we have controversy Representative. I hear that a Bernie Sanders fan and head of the east valley. N double ACP is calling for you to be taken to task what exactly prompted this command a conservative. I'm a constitutional conservative. So I'm sure he doesn't like that being a big burning fan and supporter, but more importantly, Roy Keane's comments behaviors. Revealing tapes. Of a conflict of interest there. So I'm kind of confused of what you know, his his his his end up pe- platform says one thing and then he's workers for Bernie. So I try to figure out where he got on that would be the first conflict of interest. But when you say conflict of interest, I think you're referring to the charter of the N double ACP is that correct? Exactly, exactly. You know, what the what the charter does the we know it's talking about equal opportunity to give it a voice to everyone and not really getting off political size. But making sure that each side is showing respect and dignity and for the president of the east valley. In WCTC to actually contradict what the platform states. You know, maybe he should be an apparition either. How many members are part of the in double ACP and east valley? You know, what I could not tell you. I don't have that information. But I'm sure they have a growing number, and I'm sure the majority of the members in in that organization do good things for the community and try to move the message of the NWC forward. However, the leader of the east valley in double ACP is not setting a good example for his members are his staff. I tell you what about Representative black Ben you are being very kind and being very charitable. I I would be surprised if the east valley N double ACP has more than four members. Even if they do they do the the national association for the advancement of colored people is very much antiquated at least update the name. But to your point, according to their charter, you would be a colored person, and instead of advancing you and seeing that there's representation now in two parties in the valley you instead we're being attacked, and you were told that you should be taken to task would it. What do you think he meant by taking to task? Well, I grew up in the south, and my grandmother used to tell us if you go down the street, or if you deal with this certain person, they're going to take you to task and that actually myth. Taking you out and beating you or doing something worse. Now, if you look at history, we talk about slave history ever, the taskmasters and one the slave was not doing what he was supposed to do or she was supposed to do. They would take them out the task that it actually cold and putting out a word to followers or what have you? If you see this person put him back in line. And if you have to do physical means to do it do it. But make sure that he is on or she is on the same sheet of music as the rest of us to make sure the message is the same. So the code, you know, people speaking codes all the time, and the N double ACP will often say that Republicans speaking code to press and not give opportunity to folks, this is the same thing that the president of the east valley in double ACP is was doing to me to this. Followers. He was speaking in code to sit out a message of hate. And I sent out a message to basically do harm to me. If if so humid, I grew up in the south, we both know history, and we both know exactly what he was talking about. So that's why I took this as a threatening took it serious, and you should Representative Blackman. You know, here's the deal. You talk about colds nowadays deal folks, like to say on the lead today whenever President Trump says something controversial that that is a dog whistle. That's a dog was Orissa foghorn. And this just the institutionalized racism will the reality here is that you had the head of the N double ACP, ROY Tatum who is using the language of the old south the clan. He's using which in our history tells us that Republicans were were black black. We puppets of initially because the Republican party was the party of Lincoln, which freed the slaves, and it wasn't until the thirties that things are to change. What I find alarming is that we have an American of African descent that still stuck in that line of thinking you have pointed out the hypocrisy of the situation. Let me ask you this. Do you think that the NWEA CPI the ROY Tatum's of the world? Do you think that they see the hypocrisy of voting party line when it comes to things like abortion, which takes more black lives than anything else? These days for talking about that. Yeah. It is. You know, we talked about they talk about we talk about black lives matter. We talk about making sure the black communities have opportunity that we take care of our younger generation. However, we're signing on to a method of killing our young in the world at a higher rate in any other demographic or any other community than any other ethnic background and we signed onto that blindly. So why I am I a conservative. I don't believe in that. I don't believe and and taken away because someone says it's okay to do because that's. Stain to do. And that's what the democrat party does. That's what the Boertien issue is. And I'm not, you know, I'm not part of finding all of that that sort of party line. So I don't think you know, as far as taking the task. I think that it is absurd on every single facet beyond that. We should be able to vote for who we want to vote for no matter what are s an ethnicity gender or sexual preference. So I am glad that I had an opportunity to talk to you about this Representative. I want to say congratulations to winning your race. I think that this is something that's going to be good for not just the party. But for all of the city all of the state, and the the NWEA CPI is antiquated and is pretty much irrelevant. And it is done. A welcome, sir. To the twenty first century. And I'd like just to say, you know, be bad a conservative again. Dan, a veteran twenty two years served, the United States military several deployments. This sort of thing is not going to intimidate me. The people of the district sixth district elected me to do a job. They need a voice than I am at voice, and I am not going to let a individual or a A N double ACP. Tell me that I cannot speak for the people in my community and my district. They're going to have to come with a little more than switch. Well, I'll tell you. What if the if the night writers or the N double ACP, come after you just give me a heads-up? I'll be your Huckleberry. Was Representative black. But you know, what I forgot to wish. Happy black history month. Yes. Yes. The twenty first century. You have the N double ACP violating is charter trying to tear down another brother why? Because he doesn't wear the democrat label he escaped the democrat plantation. And now they've got the people out there that taskmasters trying to drag them back in. No, thank you. No. Thank you. "Three things you need to know. Right now KTAR is on immigration, many of the active duty troops sent to the border are reportedly going home more than two thousand expected to be withdrawn this week leaving three thousand on the southern border. There could soon be a bipartisan human rights commission named after the late. Arizona Senator John McCain. You can read more about the just introduced resolution a KTAR dot com. Expect some traffic delays in parts of the east valley later this morning, the ramp from the eastbound sixty to the northbound two zero two red mountain freeway, we'll be closed from nine until two thirty today for pavement work. You're never more than fifteen minutes away. From today's top stories on Arizona's news station. KTAR news. KTAR in-depth. So we've been covering this morning. Jim cross KTAR senior news reporter has been covering this. This story that the Associated Press says a senior official has told them they're gonna pull twenty two hundred troops off the border leaving us with a little over three thousand troops. Now, these are active duty military, the national guard is a separate issue. But of course, those those trips were ordered there by President Trump. And a lot of people said, hey, this is just a political stunt. He's doing this. And he's he's highlighting the caravan that's making its way up through Mexico just for political reasons to win some votes during the midterm election. And then maybe there's some truth that there is. But I think I think also the caravan some small minority, but still members of that caravan did show that you know, there's some there's some good some not so good elements in there when they decided to storm the border and throw rocks and stuff at the border patrol. So this morning. The president is tweeting about all this. Let me read you some of what he he said because it's pretty interesting despite the large caravans that were forming and heading to our country. The president says people have not been able to get through our newly built walls or border patrol officers and military there now staying in Mexico or going back to their original countries ice border patrol and our military have done a fantastic job of securing our southern border. More of what the president has to say on Twitter. A great wall would be however a far easier and less expensive solution. And by the way, he capitalized great wall. In such a way that it looks like we're talking about that famous barrier in China that was completed to keep the Huns out in two hundred twenty eight BC. Okay. But that's not what he's talking about. He's talking about here in the United States. And he goes on the Democrats for strictly political reasons that because they have been pulled so far left do not want border security. They want open borders for anyone to come in. I look forward to meeting with Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi. In two thousand six Democrats voted for a wall, and they were right to do. So today, they no longer want border security, if the Democrats do not give us the votes to secure our country, the military the military. He says we'll build the remaining sections of the wall. Interesting. So they're gonna meet today to try and come up with something. So Nancy Pelosi who is expected to become the speaker of the house again when the Democrats get their majority in the house of representatives in January, and then Chuck Schumer who's the minority leader for the Democrats in the US Senate getting together the president today, and he wants five billion dollars for the border wall. They don't appear to be giving him anything even close to that more like less than two billion. But our own Jeremy foster asked congressman Schweickart this morning. What do you expect to come out of today's meeting between Trump Pelosi and Schumer, and here's a little bored. I had to say the president has made it clear he loves to make deal. We'll see and give you an idea some of the craziness. There's some quotes from certain Democrats saying as long as we don't call it a wall, they would or border security money. So it sort of shows you the politics and the semantics that are dancing around is right now. Yeah, he wants border funding. Those house particularly for the border states understand the impact of you know. And so many other things that are crossing our border yet because it's become a political issue, particularly for the incoming Democrats. Freshman class can ANSI Pelosi actually agree to that border security funding instill ever votes speakers. Well, so they're talking about the house of representatives there. But in the Senate, you've got a newly elected a democrat by the name of Kirstin cinema from Arizona who said that she is for at least a some more wall. So. Your guess is good as mine where this is all going. Remember not to not all that long ago about a year or so ago, Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer in Donald Trump all had a nice nice meeting. And then that fell apart a few hours later. So I don't know how this is gonna go. But it's going to be interesting to watch. "I don't trust him to keep us safe. Okay. Let's fill in some of the blanks. When you first hear and see the ad you see pictures of a white family. Mom, dad. Couple kids. It's a white woman a white family, and the mom you say your name from Gilbert. Okay. Mom is talking. She's white. So she starts talking about she's not comfortable with David Garcia because David Garcia doesn't stand for safe borders as a mom with two daughters. Nothing is more important than keeping them safe. That's why I'm worried about David Garcia. Okay. So MAC, and I watched the ad. We know that today a civil rights leader here in the valley says do see should denounce this as an attack against a Hispanic and say, it's racist. Now, we've called this gentleman ROY Tatum east valley in double ACP. No word back. So we'll keep trying, but he says it's racist. It's bigoted. And David Garcia has also said he's let's put it this way. He is not tamp down. No that assessment. He's kind of going with it without calling it truly racist. This is absolutely playing into people's fear and people's bigotry. And I think Arizona's going to see through and they're not going to normalize bigotry to say in any way that I would put Zona at risk runs counter to lie service. My my life service and my record. So so well, Mr. Garcia with all due respect. You did say imagine southern border without a wall. I mean, you said that yourself it's not being made up or misconstrued, but the racist element in this. I I'm not seeing it. Okay. I don't see it either. We asked some. Some so tina's some. Yeah. To to Latinas here in the office to watch it and tell us what they thought. One said, I don't see it as totally racist. Okay. Maybe there's a little bit in there. The other said, I don't see it as racist. The thing that I see is that this isn't about a guy who suspended, and he's he's he scares people because he's Hispanic. I think what they're saying. Is that the policy is scary? I think what this white mom is saying is, you know, the policies scary. No wall. You wanna you want to get rid of ice? It's the immigration policy that scary. That's what I hear. I don't care if David Garcia is white black Hispanic doesn't matter to me. I don't care. I just don't care all I care about is policy. Do I think that this guy could be ineffective governor for immigration? I do not. I don't think he's got a good track record against immigration in this ad. He we've had David Garcia. And we asked him we told him. You know, what you said about ice? You know, what you said about the? All right. All that is going to be in an ad. You have no that Mr. Garcia knew he knew that. So these are his own words that are being used against him. Now, they may be turned and kind of massaged into the way the way the Republicans would like other people to see David Garcia. But I just I listen. I know it I'm a white guy. Okay. But I don't see. I don't see the David Garcia is. Some some scary Mexican guy. I don't see that this ad says that it's not ROY Tatum with all due respect. The other side is saying, yeah, that's what ROY Tatum is saying from the east valley, and double ACP, Mr. Tatum again with all due respect, you choose to see it that way you choose to see the world in black and white issues. And and you know, what that is your right? That is that is your perception you're supposed to guess things differently than us again, and we see things differently than you. But this is. Is not an overt racially motivated add against David Garcia. You are looking at a white family and saying there, you go a white family thinks a man of Hispanic descent or lati- Latino descent wants open borders, and that preys upon the ignorance of the voters, and that's what I can't stand. Roy Tatum is basically insulting every voter by putting this crap out there and saying see once again it comes down to race Nocera. It does not it does not that is it feed into stereotypes that's up to you. And I disagree. If you think it feeds into stereotypes, not every white person, fears Hispanics and not every white person wants a wall, either, nor does every Hispanic one open borders, but ROY Tatum is is feeding off that low hanging fruit and making it all. About race. Which is just it's just silly. It's the only word I'm going to say because again, you have every right to believe what you believe, but this ad is in a racial at the end of the ad shows, Mr. Garcia in a white hat and kind of. He he's not in a suit. He also I'll just say he looks like he's wearing gear. And he's going out on the town in Miami. Yeah. He looks like he's like he he'd fit perfectly in Cuba. Yeah. That's he's got like the Cuban type hat. Okay. And he's got an open collar shirt right now. And he's got a white hat. He's looking like, Mr. cool guy. He doesn't look like a button down politician, right? See I didn't find that offensive to make him look foolish or irresponsible or that. He's a playboy. And I didn't really like that. But it's not race. No. It's not. But I didn't think that was fair. I mean, I don't know if you're talking politics, I mean. Nothing is fair in politics these days, I just don't see just because there's a white family that automatically means it's racist. I see the white family talking about David Garcia is immigration policy. And there are two or three clips of his of him sane no wall of him sane. Let's abolish ice. And I think that is scary. But it's not because I'm white and it's not because he's Hispanic. No, it's just I don't like his policy I immigration. So again, it's low hanging fruit. And it's insulting to the voters of Arizona that this is even being brought up. But again, you're going to see some really weird ads, and you may disagree with them. You may think. Wow. That is unbelievable. Right. Doesn't mean. It's racist. Everything isn't always racists. Correct. Okay. And we didn't watch it alone. We watched it with two women who are Spanich. Okay. And and a person who a male who's Hispanic to another person three people excuse me. Okay. All right. So we'll get more into that later coming up. Should we stop stop commemorating nine eleven next?
