"Welcome erica stevens mentally yours. Thanks very much for joining us so we has just about your book even together. The guinness guy tucson sannoussi Why did you want to create this. I had. I've always wanted to write a book about my experiences with psychosis but i kind of felt that it would have more to offer offers a book if i listed the help of a co author. He was a professional in mental health. An augment stephen a conference on and it was about schools. New routes tibet to catholic schizophrenia. anti newell basket sphere. Its area of expertise. Less ask him. let's ask him and he was for. And so we started writing this book together But just felt the kind of just mike spirit. Just the expert by experience will lived experience on and maybe wouldn't hold water. I thought that it would be much better. Talbot's that too. What about east stephen so obvious similar oversee from a professional perspective. So as okay said. I have kind of specialized in researching schizophrenia for twenty five years and look after any large number of patients with illness and other and had wanted to write a book that would be accessible to them and to a wider audience. But also one. That wouldn't be too dry rocket dynamic and around about the time. I'm i'm erica. I also told by various agents event. If i wanted to write a book like this. I definitely need to get Lots of people stories in it so lots of people with lived experience contributing Beating erica was a very happy coincidence and from there took us a while to get going but i think we broke during two eighteen and then finished off in nineteen before publishing of this year. And who would you say that. It's forty anyone with schizophrenia. And anyone is interested in like working schizophrenia. Or care and put some moments schizophrenia. Like a friend or a loved one. "Finally let's get a landry shamet on the court shooting. How long that yeah. Yeah sh sham. It was like you know the three point specialist in la but the other four guys can actually play ball joe harris basketball player not just the shooter and the three other guys are hall of famers meantime. What i'm what i'm flipping back and forth and the sixers of the team that impressed 'em bead has been. He has lost his mind. He's like in this in this small ball era. He combines a lot of those skills with some classic big man skills guys like tyson and who else was trying to guard and they're just not big enough. They can't do it. You double or triple m. you're going to send them to the line and on defense. He's been great defensively this year. He's my mvp. So far your thoughts on the sixers and mbeadh well. Embiid has been absolutely phenomenal. It's not just the workload that he's accepted and it's that he's been land. Disley efficient just outrageous. You know he's getting to the line he's making shots. They're shooting three. I i mean he's doing everything you can ask on offense and Caring you know a significant burden while doing that. But i just look at your point. Before about the changing demographics of the league that changing prototypes. And this is why basketball is fascinating to me because we can shift toward small ball. And then you're like wait a minute we have to put tristan thompson on joel embiid and we have to it in. Joel how what are we supposed to do. And you know there's they got nothing for him. Defensively no nothing. Nothing at all and you know a couple of years ago. They had horford. And aren't they right to have let horford walks of. Yeah yeah that makes sense but that was really their their life preserver against someone like joel. Embiid horford aid is launching. The pilot horford was great defensively on in the playoffs. But these guys and horford a special case at least back then these guys. We'll have nothing for him and he's getting to the line and he's hitting his free throws and even hit a three. I mean not even here. He'll hit three from time to time. He he's really been the total package. The roster looks deep and good ben. Simmons has not yet been ben. Simmons your thoughts. I think we're gonna talk about his struggles. We have to the surface. It's for him. It's really been scoring the ball at the efficiency that we're used to seeing from him you know he was a fifty percent shooter last season top ten the nba You know from the floor and this year it's about fifty percent so that's that's a cute declined but it's still fifty percents from the floor I think the rest of the game has been you know excellent. He's you leaders in a fifth in rebounds steals A ton for him. He's shooting better from the line modestly. Which is already a strong suit for him. But i gotta say you know. I think it's worth mentioning. This guy hurt his back without for basically the entire year from february or came back into bubble hurt. His knee had knee surgery. She played like two games. Two and a half real games in the last eleven months before the beginning of the season and includes knee surgery so like i'm only worried about lasting ramifications of that surgery. I'm not worried about mental stuff. I'm not worried about his slow start to me. It's just like hopefully this is rust. And it's not that he will have to deal with you know down the line. We're gonna hit a commercial break. Pretty since i want to get. This in the lakers. Have the box. But what i'm interested in is how you think they match up with the nets right now. It looks like oh the lakers are well oiled machine and they just want a championship and if anything they got better and they can play defense. The nets were this wild experiment as you said and yet if the nets get to the finals they're going to have three guys who can get their own shots on absurd level like historically great level and convert them very efficiently and if they're playing together by then and assuming they pick up another defensive piece to me it's a real interesting matchup. What are your thoughts. I still think you have to be passable. Defensively win a title. You know because you're gonna have games when you should poorly the other teams poorly and it's like. Are you getting easy. Buckets or not i i. I really love what the nets are are thinking about. And maybe it's a consequence of the situation. Know they may have used that ammunition for for trading or a guy who better connective tissue a better defensive player a big man and this just how things shook out but i i don't see them being a threat to the lakers and the less they can middling on defense but i'd love to be proven wrong because it it. It flouts convention. I love that idea of saying. We can be so good on offense terrible on the title ben dietrich ladies and gentlemen the a lot of jobs ringer in the new york times and cookies hooping hoops summit in grantland. Ben come back. it's been too long. Then you had a couple of times. He took a hiatus for like months. Don't be a stranger. what would you know. I'll come back on and you're right about there. It is then dietrich. Ladies and gentlemen i liked by the way i like simmons even with them bead. I think simmons maybe might be better off with his own team but as the freak got his own team but obviously the very good together. And if simmons gets his form back maybe it's the sixers and not the nets who come out of the east. Stephen a smith goes beyond the headlines to unlock a.

"Am eastern j. A couple of days ago. It's as simple as this. James harden told the fans in houston. I've given you everything. I have love this city of giving you every last drop. Now he's looking to give every last drop to a new city or borough or however you wanna shake it. Harden is a net shake it. It's it's one of the biggest moves. I think the nba has had a very long time. And i've said it before talent wise talent wise. I'm not saying how it works. What kind of offensive scheme you put them. In talent wise. This is the best big three that delete has ever seen on the same team. Talent wise kyri and his ability to score kevin durant being two time finals. Mvp james harden being a multiple scoring champion them all being on the same team special and roads brought up a good point in our two. He said you know who's going to acquiesce. i think that's james harden. You put james harden on the ball now james harden is still going to score points because the way they play all. This is not james harden with russell westbrook. Who can't really shoot the ball over driver a guy who likes to finish at the rim. This is james harden with a guy like kyri that can catch and shoot that can also dance the ball attack that he can play off of. This is james harden with kevin durant. That doesn't need to dance with the ball that can catch term base. Make a move really quickly. He can play off of him or katie can score. I think the skill set of all these three together. Offensively is extremely complementary. It is but it'd be interesting to see if that the continuity could work. I understand that they played it. Okay see together meaning katie and hard and they worked out in the summertime together and they you know they know each other but you know how it goes jay. It was going to work with chris. Paul to a didn't and it was going to work with westbrook again in houston to didn't and now you think abou- james harden coming off the ball kyri coming off the ball and allowing. Jane's it'd be the facilitator even because he can't pass but what about those. I don't know four or five seconds down that now you gotta pass the ball and understand katie. The need to have the balls and he's a shoot a quick trigger. Boom has gone as well as kyrie as a basketball player. In the shooter yourself. I would think that you want the ball a lot. Sooner than the last few seconds on the clock key you should have worked out into. Didn't they were up three one. Two one against the golden state warriors if. Cpi three get hurt. I think they win that series. So that's a little bit of a caveat for me and i know you're going to say they're also not going to have because you know what i'm gonna say don't say you know what i'm gonna say we've been around each other for a pretty long time now. I feel like i would say. Sometimes all i'm saying is that i don't think you're gonna see the same style of offense that james harden was playing in houston where he takes nine thousand dribbles going to see a different offense and i think james harden just because we've seen him only play one way he's not a one trick pony no same harding camp. Play different ways right so now. Yeah you have to acquiesce like sometimes coverings it up. Sometimes james marines it up if kevin sometimes katie brings it up you find ways the play off each other. I actually think it makes the game a lot easier for all of them instead of just saying. Hey we're gonna play the way they played in houston and by the way. Do not sleep on the victor depot aspect of this trade. I don't know the nba like j. or our next guest but it's not gonna get any headlines because the headline deserves to be hard after everything that's happened this offseason in this regular season but the depot moved to me sneaky excellent addition. I dunno speaking of sleep. I know stephen. Acp he got stephen as world. We got first day. We got sportscenter with stephen and he joins us this morning. On the goodyear hotline. The number one opining sports. And it's great to have you here so first think i mean just laid out here your initial thoughts that this blockbuster trade sending james harden to the nets well I oughta businesses that first of all good morning everybody hates secondly i don't really i don't like the way he handled it but i understood exactly what he was doing. Because when you're under contract You clearly have to force your way out in a more cooperative. You appear to be the more lackadaisical they can act in getting you out of where you want to get out of. So i definitely understood way was coming from although i i would have preferred not do that. Having said all of that This is one of the prolific offensive scores. This game has ever seen you. Combine him with kevin durant to me. That's enough for you to be one of the top two teams in the eastern conference. You take that into account and take that to another level. The bottom line is is that i look at a guy like i look at a guy like connery irvine with all the narcissist going on with him. Shaw marks had to do this because you had to have a security blanket for kevin durant. It isn't just about keeping kevin durant once once. He has a player option after next season. It's about competing for championship right now. And not wasting away or year with this. Guy's greatness straight off of an achilles tear eighteen months out of action. He comes back on the court and in this first eight games. So he's averaging twenty nine a game on fifty four percent shooting and shooting three less shot. The game day tyree was shooting. This is what i'm talking about here. The level of greatness that this do has it is disposal so when i look at it from that perspective i certainly think that it was the right thing for sean marks to do not to mention the fact that i happened to notice silly was on the phone and philly was going to try to get him They couldn't let him get to philadelphia because if he got the philadelphia with him. Be doc rivers as coach with steph curry. I'll meet seth curry and and tobias harris still. Dan others philly would have been a favourite to come out of the east brooklyn. And then you really would have screwed over. Kevin durant so brooklyn had no choice. I think they did the right thing. And i did. I think as a result you can look at them as the favorites to come out of the east. Stephen eight The in from l. a. myself. I've seen talent symbol with the lakers. Throughout my life was the last time this type of talent was a symbol on a new york team Never.

"Piece off. Great. This is the web. This is where we talk about the connections between all of the stories in East Stephen King vs. Phoenix. What does this story have to do with my cowboy story. This is one of those gave me this Batman. This is one of those weird things that happens in literature. Sometimes where some Canon is ignored and some Canon is happening, you know, like a Capital C. Yeah, some people jump on you if your if your cannons not the same as their Cannon Stephen King and Peter Straub, who knows why Peter Straub get to say Peter shop was not involved in this song have both gone up and like made a super what looked like a conceited attempt like a press release at em, not to say that dinky is a breaker in the Dark Tower Universe. Okay, and that he right after the events of this story. Is basically plucked out of Oblivion by the Crimson King as a break, right? So for people who maybe have no idea what any of those words mean because that is Gobbledy gook. The Crimson King. Okay. How far how do we Okay. The Crimson King is evil evil man live with the top of the power of infinity. He's trying to break the spokes of reality using psychic humans from our reality to free him from his thoughts his his prison and those people are called Breakers and that is what dinky is Breakers people responsible. Yes. That's that's correct. Breakers are also responsible under the direction of the Crimson King Kong to help with the psychic explosion that will destroy the Dark Tower and the Multiverse, right? That's what I was going to say next because it was coherent and made perfect sense what children with The Shining become Breakers in the afterworld. Okay. And is that only if they are taken in by the Crimson King and forced to do it what happens do they just like live in the afterworld? Otherwise in our okay potentially if they're not Breakers. "Got Kellerman and we've got Jalen rose off the top. Hi everybody. Let's go ahead and get right into. Who's off the top? Well what we're already off to a delayed start because I asked everyone how were and mess up there but anyway let's carry it on. Do we like the idea of some of this good news if the seemingly inching closer to a return but Kohner Mark Lazarie on. Cnbc yesterday said it's likely that a return of the twenty nineteen twenty twenty season would fries of two cities. Las Vegas will be the hub in the West while Orlando would be the host city in the East Stephen. Do you like the idea of the NBA SEASON. Being played out in two cities. If we can resume. It doesn't bother me doesn't bother me at all. I don't they I don't mind it'd be a divided you don't need. Everybody clustered in one location. I think that it it. It lends itself towards being a safer environment for folks to be a bit separated for some folks in Orlando some folks in Vegas as opposed to everybody in the same locale. I think it'll be easier to engage in social distancing by the way if you're in two different locations as opposed to everybody being in the same location. I sincerely doubt that it's just a player. That's going to be there that there are no family members that are going to be with them. I sincerely doubt that to be the case and so I look at it from the standpoint that you know something happening in two locations could potentially be beneficial because ultimately is going to come down to one location as the as the playoffs. Wayne and I think we all know that so. I don't really see much of a problem with it in that regard. Look I would never presume to know nearly as much about this essay the Commissioner of the NBA. Adam silver and. I'm sure they've looked at this very carefully. And one of the stated reasons for having two locations is it makes it easier everybody so but that said let me just say this one of the things. I like so much about the way Adam. Silver is handled. This is while Major League baseball in the NFL. I still believe are starry-eyed about this. Not really taking seriously enough. Be The potential strength of a second wave. Come the colder months. The idea that they're trying to get fans in the stands and off maybe could be fifty thousand fans. Even if it's twenty thousand beds steams to me to be overly optimistic. Stay the worst lease if not a little reckless. I think Adam silver looked at the sobre relief from the beginning. Okay let's get out ahead of this. Immediately they shut down the league there in the middle of their towards the end of the season you immediately shuts down the league. They start making these kind of preparations when I hear it's easier for everyone. This is what I think in order to have some semblance of normal life because of the population density of trying to cram everybody into one place it's easier to have in two locations and what bothers me about that. Is You look at the NBA Rosters? Let's see you need on average fifteen guys on a roster who need to be there and let's one person of support staff per person Jalen. You could tell me if that's more or less right or wrong. Kind of a back of the envelope. Calculation slits about a thousand people for the entirely. You WanNA say fifteen hundred okay. You can accommodate that in a vegas site very easily. It seems to me including with enough courts to play all that kind of stuff and the reason I prefer that to two separate locations is if something happens in the east to get shut down. Now what do you do? It's going to bring the whole season to a grinding halt. Anyway if you have the play offs I like much better and I think part of that because you want people to be able to live some semblance of a normal life. I think people if you WANNA really do this. Better get that out of their heads the idea that you can leave the bubbling comeback. The bubble I think is a bad idea. Stephen a your point about hey. Let's get right to the playoffs. There's there's some with a lot of legitimacy in that way of thinking do what you can do plan to do what you can do. Get it in now. Much stricter quarantine one location. It's not gonna be convenient for everyone. Forget about leaving and coming back into the bubble testing all the time if you do it like that. I actually think the NBA can complete their season. If not I have my doubts. I don't just like it. I love it and Max are really loved the two locations and I wanNA clarify something that I saw you guys debating. Today it would be in theory trying to play in team seven through tin in the playoff race. Which would mean you're talking about. Twenty teams ten from the West ten from the east. You divide the Western teams in Vegas the Eastern Teams in Florida. And if you think about it like that and you do that math. That's basically a hundred and fifty people. Vegas can accommodate that flora can accommodate that. And I'm talking about just players and like you just alluded to Max. You can inflate the support staff as much as you want. And it could be one thousand people and you're now dividing net into half so therefore five hundred on the east five hundred south of five hundred in the West. I think that creates the bubble that can insulate them enough and for everybody don't feel so very bad. Accommodations will be plus. It's not like it's going to be fifty people standing in a one bedroom apartment like they're going to have their paw plenty of great nations to help pull this off and I really like engaging twenty fan bases now. You have squads that were seven through tin excited about being in it. The intrigue of would if a Portland gets in. Can they up in the Lakers. Can they play against the Los Angeles Lakers? What about in the East is Philadelphia? GonNa get healthy with bead and Ben Simmons and so this creates a level of intrigue in enthusiasm and they could be a fantastic idea if the NBA Jalen. Jalen and Matt's. There is something that we did not broach and. I'm going to bring it up right now because I think everybody should be absolutely positively excited about what I'm about to say Jalen. Lean back in your seat and get ready for what I'm about to throw at you bro. Number those conversations that we've had not east not west just the top sixteen seeds the best sixteen teams and put them in the playoffs. But but the but the hesitancy was with you know if L. A. was number one hypothetically and Boston was number eight of sorry number. Sixteen that you'd have to do that. Travel well guess what you don't have to do it now if you only got two locations where they're at excuse me there's no traveling involved that right there. This is the perfect opportunity to explore number one going against the number sixteenth seed a lot of NC double A. Tournament per se the highest seed in each bracket going up against the lowest seed. And coming together that way as opposed to you know what you're a week a team in the east but to have a higher seed. You're a stronger team in the West. But you gotta lowest seed because there were so many strong teams in the West you can eliminate all of that and just have the top six feet and go from. There is the perfect time to to try that your thoughts. It's an opportunity to try all kinds of stuff playing games. You're right it. According to just record there's an opportunity here right there trade offs but also opportunity. Here's my issue with the two different locations. Even what you just said Stephen. It's easier in one location. It makes more sense now. It's the NBA has talked to health. Experts and honest decided term one separate locations in two separate locations lower. The odds that that things will go wrong right because you've you've lowered the population density of those two places. I get that but you've also doubled the odds that something's going to go wrong somewhere. I think it would be a better idea. Even even if you wanted to try to recede it that way to have everyone in the same place to have strict quarantine rules forget about leaving the bubbling coming back if you want to get rid of the rest of the regular season and just do the to ten twenty teams altogether with playing games. Fine and get this thing in. I don't think it makes much of a difference. I don't think it makes me go jalen. Well I know in black and white. The League.

O. of alliance spine in pain the largest interventional pain management company in the south east Stephen has more than twenty five years of health care experience and throughout his career he's worked with physicians and physician owned facilities with the majority of his work being for hospitals surgery centers and positioned practices this includes having presided over the successful development and opening of numerous specially hospitals in various states and today he speaks frequently to groups around the country about positioned owned healthcare and alliance spine in pain is just that you can learn more at spying pains dot com now Stephen let's talk a little bit more about the business model of positioned own healthcare sure I'm so typically in health care a lot of people don't realize this but healthcare facilities are typically owned by a municipality or a health care management company I'm not the physicians who work in them and so the physician practices typically a separate entity from the facility where you receive your care so if you were getting the surgery for example you would receive a bill from the surgeon who did your knee surgery but also from the facility that that knee surgery took place so that pays for the the staff that's there in the facility the equipment the sterile environment in the machines that they used to do that work if the physician in his or her business is a separate business and they get paid for their skill do you see this is a trend or do you see more and more of these businesses this business model popping up around the country what what we've done is to try to connect the two so that we have physician investment in the facility and so now that position has a say in what staff works in that facility what equipment is used and they have a say because they're going to be responsible for it as owners and what decisions are made with respect to it so it's a it's somewhat unique model or perspective but we think very effective because they tend to be good stewards of that environment in which they work once they have some ownership in rightly right now I wanna talk a little bit more about that because when you have physicians who are invested in the business what are some other ways that it changes things well obviously their relationship with the staff is very different right because now they're there the staff employee and they have the us a different relationship as the staff employer the interaction with the staff is very different because the staff knows that when they do something well or maybe that's not necessarily well they're gonna have to be responsible to the physician with whom they're working now as an owner and is that the investor in the business not necessarily to a supervisor who may or may not be in the are at the time that they are performing at that level and I can imagine that like the position to own model would be a more cohesive approach yes absolutely I mean it's it's better for the positions they have a better environment but they also have a tendency to interact differently and I'd I'd say better with the staff so it's a better environment for the staff as well as the position right in as somebody who manages the business on a non positional more their supervisors that's not in the O. R. when decisions are being made they have no credibility when they come to me in the past in a traditional hospital or independently owned inventory surgery center model if the physician comes to me and also they don't have investment they want a new piece of equipment it's easy for me to say well of course you are the piece of equipment because you'll have to pay for their investor they said like to replace a piece of equipment we think that the peace the equipment we have is old and tired needs we need a new one they have all the credibility because I'm gonna be by that new equipment with their money their investment so it and it gives them immediate credibility and makes the relationship between me the manager and the physicians who were in the or every day a lot smoother as well because we both know where each other's coming from both if you just tuned in to WSBT see evening you're listening to lands on business presented by Georgia colleges Jay Whitney bunting college of business no forget you can get your MBA master of logistics or master.

"I'm Bob McMahon and I'm Steven Cook sitting in for Jim Lyndsay Stephen is CFR's ars Eni. Enrico Mattei senior fellow for Middle East and African studies and director of the International Affairs Fellowship for tenured International Relations Scholars at Sea Afar. It's always a pleasure forecasting with Steven. Thanks thanks Bob. It's a great pleasure to be back with you. Well lots to go over and let's kick off with the topic on everyone's mind at this moment. We are a day after a very busy night of back and forth between Tehran and Washington over in Iranian ballistic missile strike on at least two. US military bases in Iraq. Now there was a just earlier today. We're taping this on Wednesday earlier today. President in trump seemed to walk back from Esscalation of the situation. But it's safe to say there's a great deal of of concern in anticipation about what comes next in the Middle East. Stephen can you tell us what we should be looking for. And and sort of how bad this has gotten yeah. It was a very very busy evening. Fifteen ballistic missiles fired Sud Airbase International Airport near Bill. The capital capital of Iraqi Kurdistan. Look there is no question. There was never any question that the Iranians were going to retaliate. I think they needed to retaliate. In this way in a spectacular fashion because of their politics and symbolically important timing being timing the attack against all my numbers of people in the streets after I saw him on his death in during his funeral and back more than seventy five people were killed in a stampede during his funeral in his hometown. So I think the Iranian regime really needed to demonstrate some type of spectacular attack in Iraq. I think there's some evidence that suggests that they purposefully tried to avoid actually hurting anybody in this. Although Iranian in state media has said that they have killed Americans the question is what's next and president trump clearly signaled that there wouldn't be an escalation from the American side which was something that people were worried. What about they were worried that perhaps the president would take a front by the fact that the Iranians would have the last word but clearly the United States looks like trump can portray himself? Let's put it that way as triumphant triumphant. Here he has killed Qasim Sumani among the worst people in the Middle East who is responsible not only for hundreds of American deaths in thousands of American casualties but hundreds of thousands of deaths in Iraq in Syria and its formal title was head of the goods forces had his arm of the Guard Corps and the Iranians shot fifteen ballistic missiles that it did no damage. So it's clear that the president can claim a victory. The real question is now. What are the Iranians done? It strikes me that there is a possibility. It's certainly only plausible that we go back to a sort of status quo where the Iranians are working through their proxies in order to try to undermine American interests and push America out of Iraq doc and other places around around the region. Well let's and that that's a good point. Maybe we can just start with Iraq because it just seemed like that is the arena in the forefront. Lots of mixed signals coming from the US about Iraq. First and foremost the Iraqis themselves seem to want the US forces out. But maybe not. Could you talk a little bit about that it is. It is quite a confusing situation. Ration- A lot of mixed signals are being. I should point out that there have been large protests in Iraq beginning in October against the government against actually demanding a new political system as part of these protests a big part of these protests re protests against Iranian influence in this political system. There wasn't a lot that anyone industry had to say about the United Right States. The killing of Customs Louis money has really flip the script and now allowed. Iran's allies in Iraq to frame the terms of the debate and demand and that the United States leave Iraq. It's really unclear. What the politics of this will be? There was a symbolic vote in the Iraqi parliament. They barely had a corum in which they they demanded a good point. I mean it's significant population of Sunnis and Kurds. Right stayed away from the state away from the vote but again you know. The presence of foreign enforces on Iraqi territory is offensive to many Iraqis. I was in Iraq in mid December and out in the plane I came across a pig sign that said Iraq for the rockies. And that's you know the way people feel about it when it comes to the United States. It's really hard for me to come up with a strong on case for why the United States actually should stay. We aren't pouring a lot of resources into the country. We have very little influence in the trajectory of politics there. We are fighting the Islamic state at the same time that the Iraqi government and party leaders are doing everything possible. That might make a resurgence of Isis. Possible a lot of people made the argument with the United States believes Iraq relieving to Iran Iran. Is the single most influential foreign actor in Iraq. Right now so this May in the Iraqis really do not want the United States in Iran onto to be their their battlefield again going back to the important question of what might happen next between the United States and around the Iranians work best in these grey zones where they working through proxies through cyber in different places in the region where they can claim plausible deniability. When everybody knows it's against and that's why I sold the money was said to be sort of the puppet master that right right exactly now from what I understand? That strategy predated souleymane but he really extended Iran's influence using that strategy and that's really part of the Mystique of Real question is whether cousins really money's death will force the Iranian government to rethink that approach because clearly for the trump administration. The plausible deniability doesn't work and they were willing to take the dramatic step of taking out customs limited. So I think that's the real question going forward is are the Iranians don. Should we take their word for it. And I'm not convinced that we should take their word for the episode also raises a whole host of questions about the future of America's role in the region. As as I said it's very hard to divine a strong case for the United States in Iraq at this point. It's almost as if we're there. Because of sunk costs we've been there for seventeen or eighteen years therefore we must be the and the president trump was all about moving. US Out of Syria not too long ago that that was the earlier drama. This A few months ago in the Middle East right that's right. That was the drama of October. We're into the president has stated I mean. This is going back to his campaign that he would like to reduce the US presence in the Middle East yet. The strike on call. Some money actually threatens the possibility of the opposite of drawing the United States further into the region after a is deployed thousands of more troops in anticipation of possible retaliation allegation on the part of the uranium to Iraq and its surrounding ears Iraq. I mean we have a rock where there's barely estate if one exists. We have a Zombie diplomatic presence there yet. We're deploying more force it. It's hard to understand precisely what the administration strategy is in the Middle East one other. The element does so many other ailments but another place to note. What do you read from Saudi Arabia on this sort of the big rival of Iran in the region? Like it's clear that there's not not a tear that's been shed for customs money in Riyadh but I think you know. The Saudis have learned that they remain unprepared for a a confrontation with Iranians either direct confrontation or even an indirect confrontation and after the the missile and drone attack on cake in chorus in Saudi Arabia. These two large oil processing. I think the syllabus the Saudis have looked deescalate. I am not convinced that they want to improve their relations with Iran. I think they want to live to fight another day. I don't mean fight like like a war but live to figure out how to deal with the Iranian problem more effectively than a half they were belligerent. Until there was belligerency and then suddenly they understood that there there were costs to their belligerency and importantly the cavalry that they had counted on. The United States was not come at the president chose instead of military action against Iran in September after these attacks on these oil processing facilities to apply sanctions on running leaders. There've been rumors of cyber attack some other smaller types of retribution attribution. But I think this was quite surprising to the Saudis given what. US policy has been since the early nineteen eighties which is a secure of the free flow of energy resources. Out of the region in an attack attack on it would be considered an attack on the United States so the Saudis are clearly regrouping seeking to de-escalate with the Iranians through third parties reports. Go because they you don't want to be an arena of retaliation. Look there's been Iranian violence on Saturday territory before the nine hundred ninety six bombings and Colbert Tower was pinned on the Iranians. So I think they have every reason to try not to be a target but that doesn't mean that the Saudis are looking for some sort of warming of relations with Iran Bob. Let's shift away from the Middle East and take a look what's happening in the US. China Trade Front President Trump's long promised phase one trade agreement has been drafted and is suspected to be signed in the White House in January. A part that deal which was initially announced about a week ago Washington suspended tariffs on over one hundred sixty billion dollars in Chinese imports. What's in the offing? Bob What is the deal. Is it a win for the president. While I think I'll I'll actually refrain from declaring wins or losses. Here Stephen but it is. It's clear that whatever this deal amounts to and there's still a lot of murkiness about some of the details especially from the Chinese side it has calmed the markets you saw surge and you saw basically this rally at the end of Twenty nineteen which the president likes to point to as on it long his achievements. You've seen general sort of relief and a sense that maybe there could be more pragmatism entering into this parley between the two most important portent trade powers and increasingly more powers in the world but the realists and the people who who specially watch the Chinese closely. You're saying there's there's not a lot there there's not a lot of their their Really early phase two which has been kicked down the road a bit will be a real crucial point. There has been as you mentioned the the tariffs putting off the next round of tariffs on. The Chinese have agreed on Psalm intellectual property protections in a few areas of patents trademarks copyrights and so forth. There looks to be a commitment on Chinese side to a purchases especially Agricultural products again that the levels are the big question soybeans American farmers have really suffered as a result of this. This is a constituency of the president's insult. Is he getting what he needs. Because his core constituency seems to remain have remained strong throughout but he has certainly peeled some people away especially especially in the agricultural heartland at some point out. You know the damage is already done. There's some farmers were not going back into businesses large number of farmers that this is just the death knell on top of bed climate conditions and other things that always make forming tough this was just the death knell for them and As the economists put it a little bit cynically in their most recent issue which is all about the U. S. China relationship. Mr Trump's tactical aim here is to help the economy in an election year. China is happy to buy time. You know so there. You go economists being cynical to shocking thing so it we'll be interesting to see almost as portly as as sort of the letter of the agreement. The phase one agreement is sort of that gives the sign language around it. Stephen and see what two sides indicate. There's been talk of trump going going to Beijing for the next round. Maybe he wants to have some sort of triumphal gesture. Maybe it'll be during the election before the election. We'll have to see you mentioned the realist. But it's interesting to me. I wonder under what is actually making the admission tick on this issue. It strikes me from a purely geopolitical perspective separate the US politics aspect of it and the damage to the agricultural sector of the economy. That in this kind of great power competition that is now upon us it seems to me perhaps tariffs chiefs. Trade war with China isn't necessarily a bad thing from a from that perspective. United States are the hydropower China's still rising would it be worth it to take some Points of GDP off of the Chinese economy. Well you the United States can still afford to do that and the question is whether you can afford to right. I mean I think one of the points that in a lot of the experts make whether either their economic experts or geopolitical experts or whatever is that there's a lot of support actually out there for the US out there meaning US allies and other countries. That have done business with China that would like to see China reigned in. It's got enormous influence now on the coming five g technology they. They aren't huge important. Lead position on that they have been through their industrial policy. They have been taking steps against competitors in their own country that have been basically violating the spirit if not the letter. WTO laws and they came into WTO's there were supposed to all I'll be about being quote unquote stakeholders. They've not and not to mention human rights concerns which fly in the face of a lot of of important values that countries again mainly allies the US hold on issues issues. Let's look no further than Saint John in the use.

"Have a problem with people with people getting second chance because I think you could learn a lot of things your first opportunity but I don't think that it makes them a prohibitive favorite. He was fired in bring Bait and retire and he was fighting Green Bay because they significantly believed that they significantly under a team like the point. Bear bear false. The the perception exception on Mike McCarthy is that winning one championship with one of the best quarterbacks we've ever seen is underachieving so how adding him to this new situation makes him the favourite. I can't can't go out on that limb I think the rest of the team's division. Maybe not that good but the eagles talented and they're going to get healthy and they have a better coaching staff. I disagree with Y'all Paul With both of Y'all because I think you're looking y'all looking at it all wrong. y'All looking at McCarthy against Peterson and I don't view it that way I look. McCarthy is as an upgrade from Jason Garrett with the level of talent on Dallas that the eagles don't necessarily have available to themselves not to say that they're not talented but if we've got questions which is about cost and winters door ability and whether or not he's GonNa make a playoff game all right well then that's relevant if we're wondering about the show Jackson and his future in Philadelphia. The nets relevant. If we're wondering about Al Jaffee Nelson Angelo dropping passes then that's relevant whereas with the Dallas cowboys. Even though they had a significant amount of drops themselves. What are we paying attention to? We're paying attention to Amari. Cooper is number not being called. We don't anticipate that will happen with Mike. McCarthy we're looking at Zeke Elliott not getting enough carries. He gets a five. You know eight or nine carries for damn near a hundred yards in. The first half doesn't see the ball in the second half. We're not anticipating that with Mike McCarthy. So what what I'm saying is is that it's really not about McCarthy against Peterson it's about McCarthy against Garrett what is the difference between the two and if the answer is that McCarthy is an upgrade considering the Bevy of talent that the Dallas cowboys have available to them that. I don't think it's beyond around comprehension that we can look at the Dallas cowboys along with the history of the NFC east constantly being a dogfight whether they're elite or mediocre. They all seem to be in knows categories. Together it's rare when you look at the NFC east and once that's elite and everybody else thinks that usually all think together or they're all competitive together and I think that's what you have to pay attention. Bali cowboy not what the eagles. NFC East's Stephen. As not telling you just hope in the middle of the back Stephen Davies the cowboys to everyone. I think you might just be hoping because I'm surprised. Surprised Steven didn't jump all over you. I thought you were very hypocritical when yesterday. We hear you arguing with dinner. Lobski how Josh mccown led this team just as well as Carson wentz ants. He's not elite at this moment he can't take them Super Bowl and then you pick the eagles as the winners in this division winning division Carson. Wentz we saw a couple years. Go Win Freedom. Through week thirteen they had a great record then the next year not so good and then this year against this. NFC East competition. It's not just once but his head coach. Look if you look at the different sports of course everything matters but like baseball is a league the GM's have made the biggest impact basketball player league players. Make the biggest impact football coaches league. The coach makes the biggest impact. And I think pizza is better than back if they're both healthy. Just Dacca's healthy more. But I think I think Peterson gives you a premium over every coaching estimates. You're you're right. That coats relative to other sports. Football coach has a bigger impact unpack. But if you're talking about the person or the player or the codes or the GM who has the most impact on on a game. It's the quarterback and I think I do believe in Carson in which he made me a believer. I was with you and saying that his only. MVP season was with the team. That was good enough to win without him but what I saw from him in the last several weeks made me a believer. I think Dak Prescott is right on that level also but this question is about the favorites in the division which speaks through the entire organization. It speaks to the general manager. The coach the quarterback all the players both offense offense defensive line in the playmakers in the secondaries. You put all that together. I think what the Eagles have. There is more impressive intimidating than what the cowboys have in their situation. They certainly a good enough team in a very talented team. And they should have been in contention for the division or at least run away with the division with all those other bad teams in the division. But I don't think that McCarthy changes I don't feel any more confident if I do marginally more confident than I do with the cowboys with McCarthy Jason Garrett just admit that you need the cowboys we all do. Don't we also. Hello I I. I don't need it but I just want to remind Dominique you. You weren't here to start at the show I'm here in Dallas because I'm doing my mba show on from from the arena. There's no production was often quite male dominated as anti male female dominated and so I think maybe people come up that way. Sometimes I'm not exactly sure why if I think it's not technical even like an Admin girly job. I don't know why it was all continente. Go the continuity go yeah and so I think that's why but it shaven as one guy I know that's coming up and he he kept in Hungary eight IOS device. If I think is going to devise inside and yet my only real native but it's is questioning is someone came to set set for which you can from skill set all somewhere but year or so again said Oh. It's very male dominated isn't it. I thought really when I started my very first job I not only women that was in you know is like onset like he was. He was like it'd be like three of US Reno and so as not like Lowe's now like cameras and at least one or two and Saudi now one of them sadness isn't told me a woman. That's not now so so yes chain but he was quite funny to me. She's still thought it's not like I know I see women everywhere. Now there was none it was lit like me and like costume maker that amount of women in technical women like in the lighting department say say he just made me my we love. I thought the has been some progress. There is some progress in terms of that and I don't know why some things are still interesting but you know you get mel. Costume design is a male costume. Sam Buys now and get mail. Make designers and mail male make parties lance. Those traditional roles are now changing. I was assigned aged. Yeah I think so that intensive gender balance probably still uneven but it's not as an even as East Stephen Ten fifteen years ago. I think the other devastation issues church on them. Yeah cruiser is like <hes> I used to be the only non white face now now means you want to three so again. It's not it's not brilliant but it's not you know at least the rock changes people actively trying to change the looking at who they got you know it's like you know but also out say the biggest issue I think is the class itchy right and can you expand on that. The Palm we have is that I was really lucky assets were but I I was looking. I Left University managed to get your permanent job. As we sat through that pay me good wage able to sheriff at my friend brilliant alien live under nor is worth in commission and say that's great but stops a few and far between these days and and if you are not based in London or don't have parents that can subsidize you then how he's supposed to enter the industry because we all well paid people you know a better pay letting nurse and we're not well paid industry as run. You're still still quite lonely played and and that's how most soft was coming trainee or is also throwing or in. I was just trying to get work experience but if there's no if people went pay these days and how do those jobs hopes if you haven't got family background sport us if you come into working class background. I don't know how also posted do these jobs. How'd you get into these jobs and also is unfortunately sometimes a case of who you know <hes> it shouldn't be but it can be and I would never denigrating won't because I think we'll take his weather may but we can't pretend that if we'd find a way of funding people this is the film industry contracts so sandwich British economy? I think that we could afford to give proper grounds improper wages to people to allow everyone now yeah and I think the thing where they do regional stuff where so things like backwards was regional. It is not made within the twenty five is may not saw them. Twenty five is a great idea but will quite work because the industry is beside concentrated in London and or Manchester. Let's say bone and now more in Wales obviously okay but but if something's out than five people just pass to find their parents addresses because there isn't actually this people living that really do those jobs yeah so that's the solution one person living cabin crew living man yeah yes and so I'm not quite sure what the artery but definitely paying people enough so they can afford to live in the places where the work is. I think it's really important as is gonNA come out but she's GonNa look at Sports Iraq for little what to come up with jobs and again if you've got people that you know that you can stay with it gets us when it the what do you do if you live. I didn't know accompanied place now leads elite. Let's say and you don't know anyone in London wants to do especially what combination mostly london-based and how'd you do that. How how'd you get your foot in the door if you'd have rich parents and you've got in a year next Monday after you have to do those jobs aren't greatly paid just to try and they'll let you off the time so yeah I think I think whenever people talk about like the diversity of the Jenner thing I think will let look at the class thing because I think if it might is probably the most iced or change things about how we fun? People give people opportunities available to grow into the industry last question what you what she had a moment on television Oh right when I'm filming but it Really Watch famous depending in what my schedule's like I got him and do nights. I am I kind of a love most thing I think probably costume drama but like Downton Yeah. I love Costra parks. I thanked me Downton. Papa wasn't made again again into it for theories so I think the moment of what search dental Jacks I love to an expert in. I think that's really interesting. I did killing gave series to this. We can nice. I love physically from Ila watching the catch with big little lies touch it with that yet are very watch the first episode of the second season I mean streep so yeah I'm expecting big emerge about mastery yeah yeah I mean I got game face which I often to watch that try keep up with comedy as well. Wow that often what's comedy work accommodate the Busman's holiday for me I think an over the close friend comedian and she used to be like come to my gator but what I don't want anymore comedian through them he needed fray right. Give you that like the head space and then I go to professional have the greatest holiday but so yes so I mean my guilty pleasures like Detective Dramas Nice. I just love in Aikido poor detective drama whatever it may be but ah yes I think yeah go to finish off gentleman Jack. I've recorded catch way to Maryland. I absolutely love it or good. Have you watched any of it none of us seven recording it and saving up so crazy to try on what week thank you so much for answering questions of Ireland it's been so wonderful to you are aero hours as my nice. "Board Sunday and it's been quite a couple of weeks for the N. B. A. hit home I want to get to that right off the bat the NBA compared to all the sports Steve bash prone or is a big time senior writer for NBA dot com a frequent contributor like my friend Plainville title to serious XM one of the best basketball guys in the country out of Chicago but he's cut up to join us on this beautiful Sunday morning in New York City Steve sit here at seventy seven W. A. B. C. how are you pal under her third it's great to have you on a one to get to this you know the baseball hot stove league for me was always the best all season league I think the NFL for his popularity does a terrible job in the off season of keeping people interested yes hotel Beckham got traded this year the dolphins got a young quarterback this year but not a lot goes on I believe what we saw the last five or six weeks from the NBA has catapulted them to the most exciting all season of any support at all it's really don it's really increase the popularity you agree what I don't agree with that you know I remember from one country can about college basketball for instance there were people that follow college basketball there were two games they like being please yes and the passion and other than leading up to the final four and then you have a whole globe's top sort of fans that followed rule crude college basketball and I wasn't sure how many of them actually paid attention to the games once we got there guys on campus it was like all right we're gonna get next year and and it's kinda like that with the NBA I think now with the off season where the attention of the basketball part of it and and the regular season which is no small shore in some cases game spread out the way it is and then of course the playoffs but not been around and get create three and it's in perfect get some people more credit than anything we actually see take place on the court and if you add those groups you know that's a massive fan base it's a worldwide trend days and I think the NBA has achieved its goal cramming about thirteen months of action in the twelve month calendar well let's start with the next year in terms of what teams did you know the fans want to design a on they have to settle for orgy Barrett no real big free agents now believe it or not for the help James told the beating he's taking and you think I mean the band hated what happened some don't my buddies in NYC bands like you know what we don't want the wind in his thirties old beat up we don't want to hide we in his thirties are top got it done along with you know we like the Knox and Barrett young guys you get Julius Randle and now we gear up again for all the free agency period in a couple of summers so what is the truth to the Knicks really pale here or with the almost kind of smart by allowing those veterans to go to Brooklyn I don't there if they allow they may have not completed through right that's my when I say allow they don't go there you go above and beyond to out do than that to get Kevin Durant to Madison Square Garden right worker pelos vehicle philosophy that a lot of small market have to embrace because they don't have a lot of choice they can't draw the big name free agents and it's it's not something that we've associated with larger markets big revenue markets like New York Los Angeles Miami now I think it's become that because it's such an attractive place for players to live I don't know strikes me as rationalization frankly by the next I think the pairing the Nile all their image within the player ranks of the NBA but they are not seen destination market necessarily and and so now what do you do you put a spin on it and say well no no no we want to grow more likely yeah that's fine but in the meantime your corner the market on on second or third tier powerful words you know it's like you're gonna have crazy Jim's powerful we'll be able to you know if other teams meet one all our house all but it's not that inspire actually with that I mean when when the draft was coming up I actually wrote that I I was hoping to York would get the number one pick in the lottery because you know it's sort of their stand but maybe not the management or you know anyone else but the fans of the necks of sort of paid their dues are paid the penance and you know it it's it's hi and and that didn't happen so knows I am and then as soon as Oklahoma City triple George airport who was put to the next I mean that at least would be you know some pretty dynamic entertainment that hasn't happened either so you know at some point something's gotta DO it's been a long time for New York basketball fans and I almost feel like you know they are they are they deserve it now yeah right I agree with it is what it was that both sides I'm a big fan and I'm very very upset Steve aspirin or senior writer NBA dot com and contributed to cause serious sex you mentioned Russell Westbrook dimension Miami as an F. destination and it is first of all there's no state tax down in Florida second well they've got Pat Riley who may be the greatest basketball man ever I lived down there for all those years when they had James Wade and bosh and Wade and Shaq but I was surprised they do get Jimmy Butler in the trade with Billy Steve but I would have thought they have the inside track on getting Westbrook as well we see now teams are putting together to superstores at once Miami did not get Westbrook what was not the case well I mean I think they were competing with with Houston it wasn't easy for the he could do it I mean they had to make the numbers work for salary matching and I think that the the rockets maybe had a you know a quicker and simpler dealing in essence with with Chris Paul I'm not sure we've seen the last of us Sam press three the Oklahoma City general manager in terms of you know maybe moving Chris Paul on he might be the guy that ends up in Miami I want all of sudden done so I really would look forward to seeing Westbrook and Jimmy Butler play together and and sort of sort things out but that would have been I think a triple eight versions of what we're gonna see where James harden and Russell Westbrook sorting things out there I mean there there there there by warmer duration allowed only play with one basket interesting with the rockets yeah just yeah who's uses rate is going to take a bigger hit just imagine when they were kids ed dot Kevin Durant and the three of those guys play together in Oklahoma City of course they lost to James Wade and bosh and the heat in the NBA finals but they were together at one point all three in OKC Steven we talked about Los Angeles two things here first of all with Leonard and Paul George do they become the favorites to win the west and secondly what do you think lettered sign just a three year deal with the clippers well the the signing that deal I don't think it's so much he wants to our shop around I think it's there he will then bye bye have giving these next two years and still qualify for the larger maximum contract which would mean he gets thirty five percent of the salary cap rather thirty percent of the salary cap amount and you don't get there ten years and for that so I think that's why he did it you want to be able to negotiate a new deal most likely with the clippers unless something really go sideways for that to that team in the next two years it's just a a bargaining he's willing to gamble on the long term security that occurred gotten for years by going to and then getting in for your deal at that point are you a five year deal I guess tell me about the Lakers then they come out the clippers with lebron James with Davis that was a huge trade and Kyle clues much is still there how the Lakers done in office all season to compete with teams like like the clippers like Golden State heck maybe the Utah Jazz yeah we'll see that's when you know you asked about you know the clippers and I'm sorry I don't know what the reason in the last right now I don't know that there's a favorite in the keys which you know necessarily implies I don't think there's a favor for the NBA championship next spring I think the what we see is a bunch of teams now are ready to go ready to go toe to toe the clippers could be right there with anybody but I think the Lakers you know those are I think it gave us for what he brings already and what is going to be comparable workers I mean a tremendous acquisition no doubt about it I didn't like the way it was raised last season with the with the the fact that Davis reasons hand I wanted out of New Orleans bad bad thing they should just waited for the summer as it finally transpired but I also think that we're going to see the best lebron dreams that were ever going to see in terms of what's left he'll have had the longest off season in years and he's only gonna get older so you know this time I think I think lebron's going to have a monster season in between those two guys I think that they will be you know in the hunt you know in the Western Conference working that wasn't even in the playoffs White River I'm not ready to call anybody a favorite at this point let's say again you the Lakers the clippers all the rockets the jazz Golden State you see in the east Stephen Robert up with this the bass pro terrific conversation senior writer NBA dot com contributed to SiriusXM in the east it's a two team punch that's it I mean open that's get better with the ribbing maybe next year with the rant they take the next step they need Boston they lose Horford they bring in Kemba Walker I look at the east it's are the Milwaukee or Philly and I actually think Philly by getting al Horford who nobody talks about who may be the best player in the NBA that nobody talks about I think Philly took this step they needed to take even with losing Reddick to move ahead of Milwaukee so for me I got seventy Sixers one box too and at a distance for three in the east what do you think script that's Christmas when I mean I think the sixes came very very close to being in the finals on this past season because if that if that ball that bounced off the rim but Kawhi Leonard put up there in Philadelphia wins after restarting the curriculum walkie you know some real sense in the only the ball bounces off the rim but god for bid their best player who really had a great season shows up one of those games join beat he's got to get better here well it from him I mean that's that's under their control you know that's just not a fluke of things I do think that hello here I look at them at this point is different from what they they were the season but not necessarily better I'm Judy Rettig shooting they need shooting cannot carry it a player like Ben Simmons you know who who not only doesn't you know doesn't shoot well he doesn't shoot he won't take those shots and even just try to keep the defense honest then you've got to get better as a shooter and Jimmy Butler you know I think he caused a lot of friction even in Philadelphia much as he had in Minnesota and Chicago but he stepped up and those guys a lot in the playoffs you know those two series so I idea I agree with you they've got the potential to even be are you know a favorite and and control the east but they've got to do it al Horford could be tremendous player to have on the court and off the court but he's kind of a half time player at this point I think is a twenty four of twenty six minute kind of guy so you know that's that's not necessarily going to be a dominant change just return soon a nice yeah if you can give up to the Butler but you know he has to go into that kind of a player so we'll see and and more stuff back when Malcolm rock right a great shooter great resources will guide who as I I saw a lot of them I probably saw them live more than any other team last season and not the Brockton for about five minutes of most close games he would grab those games and and do two or three things in each hand that could swing that in the box favor and I think that's going to be sorely missed see this was a yelp one conversation a great conversation I read your stuff on NBA dot com all.

"Right. Sportscenter right now, Montani Collins, the Astros have activated closer over those sooner from the restricted list. Huston trading for the Blue Jays closer dominated headlines last week because at the time the Twenty-three-year-old was still serving a seventy five game suspension under MLB domestic violence policy or sooner who faces a September. Fifth, coordinate date address and team on Sunday according to players will soon. Apologize for destruction is domestic assault charge has caused. He told his new teammates how grateful he is to get another opportunity to pitch and to do so with the defending World Series champions joining an Astros bullpen that has the best era in the majors this season. Just the head of the Diamondbacks and Yankees and Houston has been nearly unhittable in the last week. The Astros pen hasn't a lot of single run their last seven games. The Astros book complete their west coast thing with two against the giants starting tonight before they had home to face. The Mariners. Now let's get you back to I face. Thank you. Wanna, Tony. All right. So after completing his seventy five game suspension for violating major league baseball, domestic violence policy newly-acquired closer Roberto sooner met with his Astros teammates in a closed-door meeting, and obviously we know his teammate. Justin Burland had been very outspoken on domestic violence and this subject, and apparently they had a zero tolerance policy, but but still added him to the team. What's your reaction to their meeting. Stephen a. brought this up. We've been talking about it. That in there seems to be a different reaction to this depending on the sport you play. Stephen f. you'd like to start. I'd like to start. Let me get right to it. I have no problem with major league baseball there. Obviously. Catching up with the tops, and they are addressing this the way that it should be addressed. Seventy five games suspension speaks for itself. I don't have that big of a problem with the Houston Astros obviously, if you're Lander and others, you would think that they would have the Khanna cash, a widow Houston, Astros as an organization, the reigning defending World Series champions would pay attention to the guys that actually helped deliver it. And because they're strong and the kids against domestique violence, this is something that the Houston Astros as an organization would have liked to have not participated in by bringing him on board from the Blue Jays. My biggest issue is with the public. If this were an NBA or an NFL player, everyone would be in an uproar. They'd be calling for dudes careers to be old. They would sit there and say, they have no place in the league is a privilege to play this sport. You don't belong in here. We don't want you here. My suspension is not good enough. I'm not saying it would actually happen, which is wound up wanting to the league, and I'm not pointing to. The team per se. I'm talking about the public so you. He doesn't wanna problem. When we sit here and we talk about something the president has done or folks reaction to the president or the times that we're living in what have you, but we forget to hold ourselves accountable in this country. If this were a National Football League play on National Basketball coach and player, people would be calling for their careers to be over if it, here's a ring from you saying that that you're saying that the NBA's predominantly black, the NFL. Yeah, that's what you are in fact. Yeah. Yes, because I think I hear what you're saying, oh, sooner by the way is the public is twenty three years, right? He's an excellent reliever. He was an all star last year. He has an era for his career. Now going on his fourth season under three, he has a whip walks in hits innings pitched under one. That's right. This was a very good release so we can help the team, right? See they need them. It's funny. You may be right about the about the overlapping with race here, but maybe it's even causal. It's not just correlated with it, but I'll say this search. It's odd the way this happens. Some sports. You get away with some stuff you shouldn't more than others. For example, PD's. If you get caught juicing and baseball raise with you, people are in such an uproar. They can't believe it isn't even football. And by the way in baseball, you're not really physically hurting anybody in football. You could kill somebody, but certainly add to their physical maladies they'll have after their career, it's legitimately dangerous and one cares you get suspended for p these four game, you serve a four-game suspension. No one even never brings it up again, hardly compared to baseball. In other words, somehow you can get away with juicing and football, but not in baseball, and it's more dangerous football than baseball. There have been lots of incidents of this in may. League baseball, I think. And in football more than in the NBA it seems I think that has to do with the size of the roster. Do you think talents trumping integrity here? Racial? Is that is that where you're? Yes, I think it's much. It's not that it's, it's that the that for whatever reason and we could analyze and these baseball you've seem this seems to be not the focus of the way it is in fence, all of trying to say and then t that's the whole point. I'm not inferring that major league baseball did it. I'm not in affirmative. The Astros did it. I'm simply talking about Joe public, the level of attention. Listen, you let. Let let let a couple of brothers getting a fight on the football field on the basketball court. What's the matter that the factory? I mean, we've got to do something about there's what did they find in hockey, hey, they fight in baseball or they'll handle it themselves. There's a stand himself, some self police. Let me ask you quick. Females were fired up. I can't speak to their. Again, I'm only talking about the public. I'm not saying it's non existent I've seen. I don't hear it enough. I gotta be gotta look like HOGAN looking to put my finger on my in my hands, somebody Allen Iverson. Let me hear it because I don't hear it. Why didn't you. I hear you say it may be related to race. Why do you think I can take another issue like PD's and we can't even remember which players got suspended in the NFL for PD's and served this suspension. Show cares what in baseball McGuire. So getting into the hall of fame the sport is cherished and individual cheating. That buffers, those numbers is an offense to America's national pastime interest. That's why it's standard. And I just want to say this and remind you that Astros had zero tolerance policy against stick by zero. Is it business? Don't even institute the policy. Korea that a quick because you know, people don't come up being. They're gonna be like us even raises. Raises them right now, we sit on this show and every other show calling out black athletes every day. I don't hear those calls then. Rallied from runs down in the nineteen complete before games for the Yankees and extend the AL veasley to nine and a half games. Forty two allies. Only three teams have failed to finish in first place after leading by nine and a half or more games than August or later max. You want to start. Okay. Are the Yankees done in the AL. I told you that last week when it was down five and a half games. Now they got swept. It's a wrap. They only got two pitcher Severino it's not going. I don't trust neither of them at Fenway park. It's a wrap because Boston won't lose and the Yankees. Well. The little faith should roll the clip wills to take a nineteen seventy eight and the Yankees on this date. We're eight and a half back in the came back, win the AL east Stephen a Smith. So that was eight and a half. This is nine and a half records are meant to be broken a specially because when Gary Sanchez and Aaron judge comeback, maybe their two best players, things will be different. The Yankees. We'll have to make up six games before their final three-game series against Boston. At the end of the season, it won't route granted say, it will happen here bag shells. I wish they only got two pitches by the way, seeing Jonathan hold the come in last night sick and to be new to the challenge as you can go to the bullpen in the third inning, and they got Hella five. Hello, five, not against Boston. It'd be great segment idea. I think we maxed of offset all the size sending the balls. Boss, he'll in Boston. Yes, you're despicable Sierra fan, favourite disgusted with right now, very discussed. We cover a lot of ground today guys. Those fun and went by fast for me or anything. I was praying for dawn Christians. The old place in Cape Cod used to hook us up. Bye guys. Thanks much. We'll sing to the podcast gets I ate weekdays, ten AM eastern on ESPN also tune in Labor Day.
