"These moments where it's almost like prescott on on sunday against the patriots where you need x. amount of yards. And he's going to get it and granted he has arguably the best receiver tandem in the league or one of two or three best receiver tenants in the league. Susan say that in a good running game you should say that it should be possible. But we've seen other quarterbacks with the same skill set in the same talent relatively speaking that cannot get that twenty to thirty yards to get the team in the field goal range and he does this despite knowing the fact that regardless of what happens the vikings going gonna miss the field goal at the end of the game in break. Her cousins autocrat. I think it's a. It's a phenomenal thing. It's also one of those things. Where if the quarterback can do it under this circumstance. What do you need to do to replicate that and other aspects of the game particularly. Should you be more aggressively calling things in other parts of the game I mean you know you hear it a lot and i think there is something about that situation at the end of the game. Hurry up and the adrenaline pumping and you just kinda have to do it. And not think as much there a number of factors that can result in a quarterback being able to make throws and gain yardage in that situation versus other situations than the game. But maybe they're being too conservative in play calling in other drives. That are not this high pressure cooker situation. I think there is something very Very acute about that observation right there and this will this will transition nicely into our next game. But i do want to point out. They had a so they they were protecting a lead they up eight. There were Three minutes left. They were facing a third and eight at the panthers thirty three if they got a first down. The game was basically sealed and they ran the ball. And i know jason garrett did not make a guest plague all because he was over in east rutherford time. I know that for sure but it was just. It's a great question right in. What what can you do My suggestion was it's it's a difficult task right but it's it's to ask dave gettleman to do the selfless thing again. Dave gettleman during the drafted one of the most selfless things. We've ever seen an executive do and that's trading back in the first round to get a future pick that you might not even be the acting general manager of to us and so i think you need to ask him to trade some of these players at the dayton deadline. Like i think you're one in five Joe judge a one of the players said afterwards that halftime joe judge told them all that their roster spots were not guaranteed and so. I'm not saying that he's intimating. There's going to be some sort of trade deadline purge but like he's clearly lost this locker room to some degree In so you either. You have to assume that like either you're going to blow this whole thing up or joe needs more help than he has. Now either way you're gonna need picks. And i don't know i just don't see jason garrett unlocking saquon markley if he's healthy enough to get moved by the trade deadline i would move him as an ingram is a guy like it's just went for fifth round. Pick probably move evan. Ingram at this point You know. I don't know i. I think you do something like that to shake things up a little bit route. There is really no better way to build morale for the second half than to tell the players at halftime. You lose your job. That's just a really interesting leadership style. Which kind of brings me. What i was about to say. Is i think you have to look at the coaching staff. And unfortunately the giants have cycled through head coaches rapidly. And i don't get the sense. That ownership wants to be a team that is now known for cycling through head coaches rapidly but when daniel jones has done what you've asked and has put himself in a position to lead the team to what could be a better points and yet that's not happening and there's issues on in all phases right. A lot of that blame should go onto the coaching staff. And so what do you do you know. Do you look to make a change yet again. What are you doing differently in this hiring process that has failed you in the last few. I don't know the right answer. But the giants keep trying to reclaim what they were in. Two thousand seven and twenty eleven. And they're just not able to do it so maybe it's trying to do things a totally different way for a minute. I thought you were gonna say. Make daniel jones. Also the head coach. I said yes do things in different way but no i. I completely agree because we've seen this in. It's so obvious. And they deny time in and time out but you know everything seems to be an effort to sticking to the past. You know the higher of The higher of joe judge was clearly played on the giants fans deep wolf and love of tom. Coughlin and bill parcells that hard. That hard dude. Who's gonna come in and be mean to everybody and for some reason giants fans just love that they love that aesthetic. They love that feel but it doesn't work anymore. It really like. I was talking to someone about this recently. If joe judge fails he's the last tough-guy head coach. I think that's ever hired in in the nfl. Like until i mean. Cyclically everything comes around so thirty years from now like it'll be a fun thing again. Evidence of what about dan. Campbell didn't campbell's like crying at owed like he's a tough guy by virtue but he's not afraid to you. Know be honest and open and you know kind of sheriffs feelings on everything. Joe judge i think is the last tough guy tough guy that is ever going to be hired in if this fails spectacularly which it looks like. It's on twitter. Doing i think it has to force the giants to rethink their process. Now you could argue that. They almost did. "The thursday night game. You've got joe. Borough going up against trevor warrants. So that is going to be a very interesting game. I think it's fair will match up here. the jaguars defense is not that. Not that good So i would say the bengals would be able to move the ball here. I think this is a game. Where mixing gets going. He did really well against jacksonville last year. In the game that they played against the jaguars and i and i do think that you know the receivers they get going in this game as well Again because i just don't think the jaguars defense is that good. So i'm gonna say this affair will match up here for the bengals so moving onto week number five. The packers come to town. So we mr rogers come in to take on. Joe borough this. This could be a good game. I think that the bengals can move the ball against the packers defense. Do i think the listen. I think the packers defense. It's a solid unit. It's just sometimes they give a big plays you know they could be inconsistent at times. You know the pass rush could be nonexistent. So i definitely think this could be one of those games where the bengals you know could pick on to take advantage of that and do very well. Obviously you got gyro alexander to deal with. So that's definitely something that the bengals you gotta watch out for. But again i i think they have the receiving core to matchup against packer. Db's it's going to be interesting. I do think the jets defense is going to be better this year. I liked their defensive front. So we'll have to see might be a little bit challenge for the running game Beloved away and see. But i think it's kind of a middle of the road by do expect. Jacksonville moved the ball a little bit. But i you know. Let's see how the jets secondary is to go against receivers and jacksonville's defense. I mean i mean again. I think it all depends on how zach wilson's playing zack. Wilson's playing good. Then you know. I mean again if you have jacksonville's defense on understand why but you know if jack will zach wilson's playing bed and you know what maybe you start jacksonville's defense but if he's playing really good and he's living up to his expectations. Don't even bother with them. Weeks seventeen very interesting game. Jacksonville goes to new england to take on the patriots I think it's a very unfavorable matchup. Bill chat going up against a rookie quarterback. I think this team offensively will struggle. So don't expect you know a lot of people from jacksonville to go off in this game. And also i think the patriots are going to be improved. So yeah definitely. Look for other options that we trevor lawrence i mean of course you would start them but if you have other options maybe starts somebody else that week and then defensively for the jaguars. Probably look for other options. So yeah again. All depends on how the patriots offenses going up against. You know that defense at the patriots offense struggling and maybe you maybe start them so moving onto week. Eighteen jacksonville takes on the colts. The colts come to town obviously last year. The colts lost against jacksonville in jacksonville on the opener last year in week one But i think it'll definitely be different. I think the colts might be sitting people. Because i do expect them to. You know i. It's gonna be interesting because now whence out i mean i don't really know what to expect from eastern if ethan's playing well i mean who knows but i. I think i'm still gonna say the colts are going to win this division. So maybe at this point they'll have it wrapped up and they're sitting in a lot of their guys. So maybe maybe you start. Jacksonville's defense that week. Maybe or if they're fighting for like a higher seed or something i don't know but offensively you know if the culture sending guys i think they'll find more success home game. I mean i think it's really just a sell tickets but we'll see but yeah. I think that maybe look for other options with the bills defense unless the bills like really tightened up their defence. And they were going to shut down the rookie trevor lawrence but we will see about that so now moving on to the next match-up the bills go to east rutherford to take on the jets now the last time. These two teams met in east rutherford. It was kind of a tough game for the bills. They only scored field goals in that game. I think it'll be a little bit different I think the jets are going to be a much better team this year so i think the bills are going to have to put up some more points in to win this game but i do think it'll be a tough contest me josh allen and digs you're gonna wanna start every week You know it's going to be interesting to see what the other guys do in this game. And then on the other side. The bills defense going up against the rookie. Zack wilson. Who finally signed his rookie deal As i mentioned in the previous segment so you know we'll see what happens with that. But i definitely think that the bills will put up points. you know the bills defense. I mean maybe you start him that week. I mean. I think it all depends on how zach wilson is doing in this match up so we'll have to wait and see what that so moving onto week eleven. The bills take on the indianapolis colts. The colts come to town now. It's going to be interesting. Because like i talked about in the last segment carson wentz is going to miss the beginning of the season. It looks like because of the foot injury. So we're gonna have to see you know who the starting quarterback is going to be an. I think that's going to depend you know again if is playing. I mean depending on how he does you start the bills defense. Also have the backup quarterback. That's playing doesn't do well. Because eastern is taking the first team reps if he's starting and he's not doing well then maybe you do start the bills defense. You know the last time. These teams met. Who was in the playoffs and josh allen had a pretty good game digs at a pretty good game so i definitely think that they can replicate that again. Just all depends on what the other guys are doing. And that'll dictate whether or not you want to start these guys because the colts defense is really good. And i expect them to be really good in two thousand twenty one. So those are my thoughts on that game then moving onto week twelve. This is on thanksgiving. The bills will be going to new orleans to take on the saints. And you know the saints. They lost a lotta guys on defense. They do still have playmakers I do expect josh allen and digs to do okay. Because i don't think the saints are going to be as tight on defense as they have been in years. So i definitely think allen and digs. They could do well here and emmanuel sanders. Maybe he does well against his former team too. I think the running game might struggle a little bit because the saints rush defense is pretty good then on the other side. I think you know it's really going to depend on. Who starting at quarterback and how the quarterbacks are doing in for the saints i think james is the better option for the saints. I think if it's hell. I think the bills defense could possibly be favorable match up here But we'll have to wait and see with that But yeah i. I think it all depends on the quarterback spot on whether or not you wanna start. These guys will start the bills defense Because they gotta deal with cameron. Odds are michael. Thomas will be back so yeah. We'll see what happens with that so moving on to week. Thirteen the patriots come to town. I do think that this is going to be a tough match up. These teams men buffalo. It was a close game and if it wasn't for cam. Newton fumbling you know maybe the patriots win that game. I don't know You know. I do think the patriots are going to be a better team. This year overall. I think alan and digs. They can do well. They did really well in week. Sixteen when these teams each other and they they went off. They want thirty eight to thirteen. And i. I do think that they could do well here You know what i again. Patriots defense is going to be better so you know i. I mean it's going to be a good game. I think you know it all depends on how the other guys do. Because there's really. It's really a lot of unknowns. You don't really know what the running game is going to be like. In dawson knocks does and now sanders fits in and everything in cold beasley. You know. I think really the only guys you really know our dixon allen. I mean that's really the only ones you can really judge. you know. it's kinda hard to talk about the other players. Then you got you know. The bills defense going up against the patriots offense. I mean i think it really all depends on how the patriots offense is doing because they did add a lot of weapons you know and i do think the patriots are going to be a better team but if the bills defense is better than they have been you know from last year i mean again. They're still solid unit. But you know. They still had a couple of cracks in their defense. That is all tied up. You know it's going to be hard for the patriots going and get a win so maybe you could start those defense that week so i think this is kind of a middle of the road. "A couple of days of new york giants training camp a couple of Of interesting days in east rutherford new jersey and yours truly has been fortunate enough to to be in attendance for the first couple of practices so thought we would spend a little bit of time just going through some of the things that that i've seen some of the things that have happened over the first couple of days. So let's get right to that. As we as the giants you know get get further and further into the swing of twenty twenty one training camp and the first thing we have to talk about is obviously what happened with tight end. Slash wide receiver kelvin. Benjamin obviously released by the giants on wednesday after an odd occurrence on the field wednesday morning. Where joe judge spoke to benjamin where that conversation apparently got heated in. Also involved dave gettleman. There's a good picture That we posted on big blue of of gentleman standing in between benjamin and judge and there's also some Some video of benjamin walking off the field after that confrontation followed by dave gettleman. All of that obviously resulted in benjamin being released on wednesday afternoon by the giants an endless. And you know. I read the report from zach. Rosenblatt of nj advance media. Who did a terrific job in tracking benjamin down on wednesday evening and getting some some reaction from a very bitter very upset benjamin following his release by the giants and listen. I understand you know benjamin's frustration. I have absolutely zero sympathy for the man. This is a man who had not played in the nfl. In the last two seasons didn't play in two thousand nineteen or two thousand twenty had really one opportunity at a comeback in the nfl. And that's with the new york giants. That's with the general manager who drafted him in carolina in the first round back in two thousand fourteen that being of course current giants general manager. Dave gettleman i quite honestly. Don't think there's another general manager in the league who would have given benjamin and opportunity to make a comeback but but gettleman did gave him a tryout rookie minicamp and the giants signed him to a contract to see if he could make a transition to tight end. and listen. You know if you if you if you read the story from from zach rosenblatt of of nj advanced media this came down to an issue about benjamin's wait listen. He's listed at six foot five. Two hundred and forty five pounds and he admitted playing wide receiver out of preposterous. Two hundred sixty five pounds in. Apparently what what. The crux of the issue was was that the giants asked him after he had reported in going through mandatory minicamp at two sixty five. The giants asked him to report to training camp at two fifty one. They asked him to lose some weight before training camp rather than do that. Benjamin showed up at training camp at two hundred sixty eight pounds saying that. He had chosen to add muscle rather than lose weight now and he seemed to be flabbergasted on that judge on wednesday chose to tell him that the giants were going to find him for being seventeen pounds. Overweight no listen i. Don't get this from kelvin. Benjamin standpoint he had one opportunity to return to being an nfl player. That was with the new york giants. He's not going to get another one from another team in the nfl. No one is going to touch him. What happened this week with. The giants makes him radioactive and for all intents and purposes ends his nfl career. Benjamin had one responsibility whether he liked it or not. If the giants wanted him to report at two hundred fifty one pounds he had to make a good faith effort to reach that weight not to go his own way and do what he wanted. Benjamin seemed to have this idea that he was still. You know that guy. That was a number one draft choice that was supposedly an nfl star. Seven or eight years ago. Not a guy who was a fringe player. Who had a very slim chance of making the giants roster to begin with. And you're not going to make a roster. You're not going to have a chance at all if you refuse to follow the direction of the coaching staff. If you don't want to do what the coaching staff wants you to do. Then then you're not going to be around. You have no argument to make. I simply don't understand what kelvin. Benjamin was thinking here if he did not want to lose that weight. That's an argument. He should have made with the new york giants a month or a month and a half ago during mandatory mini camp and they should have had a conversation about what they thought would be the best course of action instead of having this confrontation. Come up you know at the very beginning of training camp. Listen benjamin set an awful lot of of nasty things about joe judge complaining about about the way. The judge treats people complaining about the his time with the giants being a hoax. And saying that that they were trying that they were trying to sabotage sham and that in the gettleman was in his corner but at the coaching staff as i said was trying to sabotage him and not really give him a chance and didn't want him around and and complaining about how much judge swears and in how he treats people and and listen. Joe judges not everybody's cup of tea. But i have absolutely zero sympathy for kelvin. Benjamin in this situation. As i said he had one opportunity to make a comeback to the nfl. That was with the new york giants. What he had to do was simply get with the program. Do what was asked if he really really wanted to be an nfl player. That's exactly what he would have done. But it's apparent to me that that's not really what kelvin benjamin wanted and now he's now he's out of the league and the giants will move on and that will be that you know as i said. Joe judge is not everybody's cup of tea joe. Judge has rough edges. He's he's not always easy to listen to. he's probably not always easy to get along with. But the guys that have been with him in that locker room for the giants for since Since the beginning of the twenty twenty season those guys seem to understand him. Those guys seem to him. They seem to believe in him so. I don't think that that you should get all bent out of shape about kelvin. Benjamin going off on. Joe judge and in saying that you know judge will will never be a success in nfl head coach and and all of the other bluster. That came from kelvin. Benjamin i just wouldn't worry about it. The whole kelvin. Benjamin experience with the giants has turned into a a regrettable forgetful of and. Let's move on from that and and see what happens and see how the giants fill that roster spot That that's vacated by you know by benjamin You know being released. The big news from thursday was the injury to starting left guard. Shane lemieux second-year player out of oregon carted off the field with an apparent knee. Injury giants released no other information other than the fact that it was a knee injury. We don't know how severe we don't know which knee we really didn't see how it happened. All we know is that during eleven on eleven he was. He was carted off the field. So apparently lemieux will have an almar. I on friday to to determine the extent of the damage and listen. You know will cross our fingers and hope that it's not a serious injury that the young men will be back soon and that he'll start seventeen games for the giants this year at left guard. It big move view. We went through on thursday some of the possibilities that the giants have on the roster if they have to replace him lemieux and include zach fulton signed as a free agent also veteran guards.
