Honey is sort of unofficially set in asheville. I i don't name it as as asheville but Locals and folks who've been would certainly recognize some of the places and i think that just the sense of of community and family It really informs how i ride as as opposed to you know. I don't tend to set things in in big cities. Ashville is actually a pretty small town A really cool town but a pretty small one and so i. Yeah i definitely think that you know when. I'm when i'm crafting a story. I'm really thinking about the the characters and And how they how they function within their whole community are saw Emmy right Sort of about the mystery and wonder of life as you say and it's Contemporary fiction that focuses on these themes of second chances redemption and finding the beauty and the world around us. And i'm curious to what draws you to these things i think that on drawn to those particular themes of of second chances and redemption and learning how to see the the beauty in the around us because it's such a universal set of of themes. I think everyone is going through. You know that kind of thing. We're all making mistakes and hoping that we're given second chances. We're looking for forgiveness and very often in situations where we're called to forgive others And the the beauty in the world around us. I think sometimes we get so wrapped up in things that aren't going well or especially two thousand twenty the way we wish things were that we very often don't stop to take stock of of the things that that are wonderful and the the small beauties especially i think is is really what draws me is is the the small things that that make our live special. So what kind of teaching a year engaged in. Oh gosh i have. I think i have the best teaching job ever. I teach mostly creative writing and some literature to middle school and high school. Kids through a program called elevate life and art which is a home school enrichment program. So i have very small classes but I'm lucky enough to have classes filled with students who really want to learn to write and students really love to read. So it's the it's the best of all worlds. As far as a teacher is concerned really engage students. And who really love the subject. And and i feel really lucky. I've got some kids in my writing classes. That are just amazing. I feel like i'm i'm seeing. The you know the the the little middle school faces of people that will be on the shelves and in the future. Some some really wonderful talent and and i'm i'm happy to be part of their journey when when i started writing i was in that same age but You know typically in school. You don't really get that opportunity to to to write creatively in your classroom. So i'm i'm happy that they have that in and hoping that that it will keep those fires lit for them

"As we always do every Monday. Just talk about what's going on here. They have a point of the season with the You know, I had to buy. Heather by they have Steelers here this week, which, by the way, I'm still looking this But the stickers have had a positive covert test. Who? So what happens now? We don't know. Now it depends on you know we're going to go back and do contact tracing how? Who was around this player and all that sort of deal? Eso again. We're trying to find some more information on that. But yes, so them ago stealers. Than at Washington, then the Giants than at Miami than Dallas than at Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh here again, then at Houston, then Baltimore. There's um winnable games on the schedule. There is Washington's very winnable. The Giants are bad. Houston's not very good So you could see you talk yourself into what saying they win No. Four games. So I want some of that. And of course I hate the Steelers. I despise this dealers. I ain't that wild about the Cowboys, but this cowboy's got robbed yesterday. I didn't want you what happened. That was just a horrible call. There was a really horrible call in that game. Now all the stores fans are going to call me and call me every name in the book, but in my mind It was a horrible call. Yeah, I didn't see that one. But anyway, so Yeah, well, we shall see. But you know, it's speaking of horrible calls. I gotta laugh because Couple weeks ago. I did the East Carolina At Tulsa game and there was I mean, absolutely dreadful called Cost East Carolina game It was, you know, under two minutes to go in the game, Tulse is driving and East Carolina This kid comes up and rips the ball in his hand, and they The call on the field, called the Field was a fumble goes to replay booth in the Riblet Booth says that the guy regain possession as he was going down was completely bogus. And I said so on TV. I'm like you've got a kidney and then they held it up. And then the next day, the American Conference officials came out and said, Yeah, you know what we have for looking at it? We blew that one. I'm like, Well, a lot of good that does these Carolina right now? Because they're not going to take the wind off the board say that to me. That kind of stuff is frustrating. Hey, look, I know these guys got a tough job. Right. There is no question about it. I know. I know. I couldn't do it. But you know you've got to be right. More than you'd get The big ones. You got to be well in your mind 98% of the time. It's got to be right mate. Of course, nobody's perfect, but shoot, man. You've got to go in like 95%. Of least two things. In my opinion is someone called games every Saturday for last para Mi years. Number one is what has to stop happening is officiating from the booth. Okay, I am of the opinion that when you do replay a play, you should have to watch that thing once, maybe twice before you say. OK, Clearly, we missed that one. But you don't want is them? You know, I think sometimes the officials They get a little lack of days ago in the field because they know that replace their bail mouth, right if you didn't have that, there, you re a little bit more dialed in. So what happens then? The replay booth gets involved Start officiating from the booth. That should not happen. The officials on the field officiate the game replay comes in when ah, referee or official had a band angle or something and just happened. Miss something. Oh, my God. Clearly, they missed that now will overturn. If not, then just go the call because that destroys the flow of the game for the viewer, Everybody. These college games are going like three hours and 45 minutes. Did one this past weekend. And just if they're so long, so long review the call. It just kills any sort of Vibe that the fan base can have. So rock in other news. This. Ah, this sounds like something you'd do. You know, I used to be in the NFL. They would be like throwing that around everywhere. Authorities arrested a woman in Dallas, Georgia. Didn't know there was a Dallas George Dallas, Georgia. "Thing I miss. I think the most in the military I do miss the most is you know it really is love, and you could love that decision. Not an emotion, right? What kind of job and think about this man? What kind of job can I say? That What? I go to the office. We'll corner quote Every dude in there will kill for me. And on and they expect me to kill for them. Every dude in there will die for me. And they expect that I will die for them. That's the thing. That's why guys like us sometimes get jammed up when we get out because it's like you can't replicate that. And so you have to find a way you know, to move through the world and kind of find a find a purpose. I also do besides all the TVs shenanigans I teach diving for Two wounded veterans for this organization called Task Force Dagger. We were actually doing underwater excavations to bring back remains of guys that we lost in World War two. And so we're using rooted guys to do that, But, yes, we are vicious to each other. Talk about that political correctness is I want to ask you about a hellcat rack. Rick. Shot down 75 years ago, and y'all are going down and excavating that talk. That's fascinating. Tell about that. Yeah, it's really cool because we ended up. We gotta partnering with East Carolina University who has a An incredible underwater maritime archaeology program. And so we have this team of people with guys like us the cadre. The instructors are guys that we've taught, and we got a guy who's incredible diver. He's he has both of his legs have been amputated. We've strapped Sins on him, and he's He's a He's just a beast. And so you have a combined group of people. Academics, which people say normally the military in the academia, Never the twain shall meet. Well, that's not true for us. So work with professors and grad students and, you know, wounded wounded Special operations guys, and we're inside Pan. We've been there twice. We're going to go back. We found the wreck My buddy and I happen to be the first guys to fly to just pure luck. And then last summer, we were there excavating it and the final day of excavation. We found the seat. So we're in the cockpit, so work it. We're going to bring him home and rehab Prague program for guys like I was saying, you look better purpose for some cats that have been wounded, and you don't need to actually go back its money. Yeah, yeah, meaningful. It's meaningful because that's what, like everything you have to do in life. You have to have a reason to do it. It's got to be a purpose. And so what we try to do is give that back to those guys. And it fulfills us too. Don't get me wrong. I also read that you're involved in senior dog rescue. Tell me about that. Yeah. So I also off various times in my life. I've been static in someplace. I volunteer it shelters and so you know, I live in the outer banks in North Carolina and Vito what? I had time I volunteer down at the shelter there. And my big thing is to try to find homes for old dogs and sick dogs because nobody really having you know, Volunteers shelter. I know that. No one wants them. So I've had all the different dogs. I've taken out of the shelter and given a home at the beach, and I just actually had I had to drive. I take care of my dad right now in in in in the earlier he has he's pretty sick. He has Parkinson's, but I had to go back and put a dog I just got a few months ago to sleep who had bone cancer. She was like she was my girlfriend. So I had to go back last week and put her to sleep. And it hurts every time. It sucks, because I never know how long I have with these dogs. But again, I'm not something I'm a glutton for Iowa. Also joke to people like all you're so nicely go. No,.
5 questions: When ‘picky eating’ gets serious
"Or in children the inability to gain weight our food can even develop into another eating disorder like anorexia or bulimia and the condition can also emerge from problems with low appetite and low food enjoyment or from fears of negative consequences associated with eating like choking or having to go to the bathroom because the study of picky eating adult is relatively new it's hard to say how common it is at what point it becomes a problem how to diagnose it and how to treat it if it needs treating at all but it's gotten to a point where a support group called picky eating adults support exists for those with different tastes according to the organization's motto however picky eating doesn't usually just sneak up on somebody one day studies show that most adult picky eaters report experiencing P. in childhood take fifty seven year old real estate broker Marlon Lopez who also goes by the name French fry lady according to her blog focusing on a lifelong peak condition she has only ever tasted a handful of foods most of them the color white she's never even tasted a vegetable other than a potato and after cooking scrambled eggs for her son for twenty years she finally became inured to the smell of them to the point of being able to try them in two thousand and twelve these days she will occasionally eat scrambled eggs but only if they're cooked very very well done no Lopez is an outspoken adult picky eater but the condition can be difficult to diagnose because not everybody is vocal about their habits like she is and there doesn't yet exist an objective and reliable way to measure picking us order parts preference from affliction so how would someone get diagnosed with Pete to begin with Jordan Ellis a doctoral student in clinical health psychology at East Carolina University studies PP that's correct in the study the does propose a way to measure these behaviors according to Alice most past research has relied on simply asking an individual whether or not they consider themselves to be a picky eater the new measurement tool Ellis developed called the adult picky eating questionnaire or a pack looks at multiple aspects of picky eating behavior including rigid food preferences lack of food variety meal disengagement avoidance and aversion to bitter and sour tastes says Alice we hope to start to understand which of these aspects are most related to problems and which could best be targeted through treatment other treatment might not be necessary for all picky eaters on the severe end of the P.
Do Fish Experience Thirst?
"Brain Steph Lauryn Vogel bomb here with today's Day's question. Do Fish get thirsty and okay. The short answer is that we have no idea because thirsty is a human experience of wanting a drink and any it beyond would tell you that we can't know what fish or any other non human animals are thinking and feeling e you know exactly when you're thirsty you might experience a range of symptoms perhaps dry mouth fatigue reduced urine output lightheadedness and weakness among others and when you're really really thirsty like lost in the desert without got a canteen type of thirsty you simply crave water sometimes to a degree you can hardly think about anything else that powerful urge is what keeps our bodies lease from becoming dangerously dehydrated but because we can't put ourselves in his shoes or fins. There's no way for us to know how fish perceived thirst or if they do it all we spoke by email with Boston. College Assistant Biology Professor Christopher Kennelly he said I think of as a cognitive response to hydration and it's hard to get inside officials brain however we do know quite a bit about how fishes regulate water balance regardless of their thirst drive. I've worked lack thereof. These creatures absolutely need hydration to stay alive. They regulate water balanced by a process called Osmo regulation which is common to many other vertebrates including humans ultimately says Kennelly Osmo regulation maintains the appropriate amount of salt and water in the body and two main Oregon's uh-huh precipitate this process I the kidneys kick into gear helping to maintain salt levels and second the gills have special cells that exchange water and salt with the environment notably. The process varies quite a lot depending on where the fish lives in freshwater or insult water a freshwater fish. Don't actively drink water because it would dilute their blood and bodily fluids. Kennedy said the challenge for freshwater fish is different than marine fish. Sh four freshwater fishes the blood and tissues are much saltier than the external environment and thus water follows this asthmatic gradient that is the body is a salty not sponge so the challenge in this case is to keep water from diluting the body to counter this the kidney of a freshwater fish expels a lot of water from the blood and creates creates very dilute urine. He noted that freshwater fish are almost always peeing out this diluted urine while their gills are constantly pumping salts back into the body using these specialized salt cells on the other hand salt water or marine species often drink water through their mouths to keep hydrated the challenge lynge there is to avoid losing water to the much saltier environment and to keep excess salt out and Kennedy explained their kidneys remove salt and conserve water her while the salt cells in their gills pump salt into the water using these different directions of passing salt and water the bodies marine and freshwater fish are equally hydrated consultee but what about a naturalist fishes like salmon that swim in both freshwater and saltwater we also spoke by email with Rebecca Ashish Hache an assistant professor of fisheries biology at East Carolina University. She explained that Salmon Take the change in stages sort of like an airlock quote. Adult Salmon migrated into freshwater in order to reproduce. There's often a staging area where the same in hanging out before completing their migration. This staging area is located so the the Fisher exposed to some brackish refresher water so that they can gradually gain as Mata competency before migrating into their freshwater spawning grounds as climate change rapidly warms the world's waters fish like salmon may experience fast changing conditions regarding temperature stability and water columns around the globe. This can dramatically alter the way fish just to the water's characteristics ash says that in some cases where warming causes sea ice to break off and float freely really salmon staging area quote there will not be a lot of mixing between fresh and Salt Water because the sea ice produces a large amount of freshwater as it melts in the Serbs is a barrier preventing mixing in that scenario. This barrier prevents salmon from being exposed to brackish water which delays their ability to adapt to varying salt content in their the environment. If this all sounds fishy to you it shouldn't our own bodies share similarities with fish. Kennedy said you can even even make the case that we're at type fish after all we descend from them. Thus we have retained many of the same Osma regulatory mechanisms are fishy ancestors had and and modern fishes still use that doesn't mean you should put your credentials to test especially when it comes to salt water all animals could in just a bit of salt water which is about three point five percent salt by weight but it won't say it your thirst instead you'll get thirstier by the minute as your body uses water to eliminate excess salt from your bloodstream mm-hmm. It's critical that FICHUS OSMO says to regulate salt in their bodies without their sophisticated diffusion processes saltwater fish would literally shrivel up into slimy Limi- raisins and freshwater fish that take on water until they burst

Here's why Phil Steele is is unnecessary. If you look at the Phil Steele Book He will tell you every statistic from East Carolina not just this year but like the last ten years that does seem unnecessary. Give me a position position on the football field side in tidying in case you're wondering Zach Zach Bird is the starter but Anthony Wally second-string Gerais Simpson Third Jerry Lewis Fourth and Nate Clark Fifth. If you are human being that is sitting out there going you know what I need to know the fifth-string tidy and on East Carolina I would say you should seek help and the fact that Phil Steele Nailing knows it but as anybody who's ever read magazine can attest writes it in the smallest type but they don't even make type that small. I find this book fascinating and I wonder if there's anyone in America that reads all of this. Do you think any anyone reads all of this. Do you think anyone outside of Carolina in that area. "I mean, here's what it means. Temple is now gets to play either Wichita state or East Carolina on a neutral court in the quarterfinals as opposed to playing Memphis inside FedEx forum in front of sixteen thousand people cheering against you. So you cannot I mean that's a big win pimple definitely has big win. And I'm interested to see how Memphis plays. Because just because it's in the building. And then, you know, the fan base is you have mentioned that they're gonna take over that building. And then Penny Hardaway and that kind of environment. What we have a little bit of fun potentially a bit thief. There don't know. That's all it is is the possibility of a bit tweeted this and sometimes people twist your words into oh. So you think Memphis gonna win. No. If you told me right now two thousand dollars Memphis wins the tournament or not say, no, of course, not. But I ran the numbers on it. We talked about it briefly on CBS sports. They chew the best team in the in the Americas Houston, and according to Sagger and Houston would be like a three and a half or four point favorite over. Memphis right now inside explore second best team Cincinnati. It would be like a Cording to sag ran two point favorite over Memphis. I've fix four. So that's the only reason this is a rid a real bid stealing possibility is because Memphis is not the best team in the league. It's ninety one of the two best teams in the league. But it is a tough out inside that building evidence being that they've only lost twice inside that building. Season wants to Tennessee to Tennessee by ten the other time to Cincinnati, and they were up double digits, forty minutes to go and just like Jaren combo awesome in Memphis wasn't. But they're going to be a tough out in that building. That's all I've ever said, Memphis right now has a has a net ranking of fifty one and so I'll transition to the Pac twelve here. Now. What's I'm I wanna see how we get these results over the next few days in Arizona, say sixty seven that's the point. I'm getting at the only other team, and I don't consider Georgetown in the midst of the only team that has a worse net. Ranking that is it's considered a a faint hope for an at large is Georgetown, which is seventy six. I mean, that's just that's too sour for my taste now. Arizona state gets a win. We're gonna have to just second here. But it got to win that it needed beating Arizona on the road. I thought Zona would win that game. And who I was way wrong GP head that right? He had the sun devils winning. So the notable results in the Pac twelve Washington dropping a game fifty five forty seven to Oregon at home. Ken palm ran the as he does forever league tournament..

They go down that road because they had a tough road to begin with. And the fact they they started off on at six in this league. I sure did Dave you're talking about if they do that. And you're talking about ten wins probably for them even eleven maybe. I mean think about that that could be an interesting turn around for Wichita state. It's different team. As you mentioned the lineup is changed. He's had one hundred forty eight different combinations of starting lineups this season that is amazing. I guess he just threw a hat and just kind of pick numbers. I don't know. How you do that either games? One hundred eighty four different come hundred forty eight hundred forty dislike about how do you? Do you throw the numbers in there? And just I have not I do know this though, part of the reason for their success is he has gone to younger players who have now started to learn how to play together he certainly has. And I think he. I know you don't say right to Europe. But he's looking for next year as well. He wants to get some experience on these guys at the end of the year, and what better way to do that? And just kind of force feed them right now, you mentioned the first time I thought the jumped on them early. The tigers. Did they came at him? Turn the ball over. They look very unsure handling the ball drop. They really got thank came after mcduffie had pretty good game there in the end. But you know, he got fouled troublesome. And everything else. I think the big thing about him. He gets hot early then he's going to carry them. If you can make him work for shots. And he scored some later when the thing.

"Not a smart decision by East Carolina still long way to go. The seven minutes in this game though. So. And let up good timeout. Taken by Joe Dooley. This is the first time his team has really looked a little ragged Tigers. In the midst of the Nate nothing run over the last minute thirty to the U of M C their last three course they've been from close range and all of a sudden he's Carolina down to forty four percent in this game. And for the half. It's even lower. What about coming East Carolina into this? Silty Chinese they're shooting because that's a small tiny arena this big bass area. The backgrounds are a little bit different. I know sometime at domesday say it will affect your shooting a basketball, you wonder if they get back over time. And finally, you know, the little fatigue and everything else added to it. I looked tentative in the second half of the Tigers defenses. Kennedy really turned it up a little bit. The second stanza move the ball, very, well, which was important taking care possessions and doing thanks to get to the free throw line. This is a big thing for this team. Degenerate points is to get to the free throw line and a done a second hand. And it's gonna be a crazy league all year long as take a look at team. Like, Tulsa, they had Cincinnati tonight. Lost that game Cincinnati's already lost to East Carolina. Houston lost to temple. You're just gonna have crazy stuff. The one team that appears to be the weakest true we team in the league is two lane. That'll be Memphis in New Orleans on Sunday. And that's gonna be a windy. You gotta win that road game going to compete from your Ryan Mitchell. That's another small arena. To go into. I don't draw exceptionally. Well, the Tigers may add as many fans as two lane does Sunday afternoon. For the U of M Harris Jones. Britain and Davenport. It'll be K tavis, Sean Williams. Dave Gardner and Fleming for the pirates L inbound the ball right in front of their own bent just under seven ago in the game and twenty one on the FOX for the pirates inbound Williams center circle left hand to the left side. Gonna work on Harris starts left side moves to the middle. Swedes. Today's webinar up top Williams three on the way. No, Davenport, the rebound for the U of M. Tigers in the midst of the Nate nothing wrong with sound pretty Jones has it. Way out on the left side in front of penny. Back on his man in the left. Dr turns and gets it left. Elbow to Isaiah MAURICE. Turns fires hook walkout tipped by Davenport long. Going dark ner with a big rebound for east. Carolina at is read on number four for garden. Here's the pirates and the day is just a garden upside Caja Davis fires at three now. And Paris took the rebound away from Antoine. Jones. Here comes Memphis. Up by four deep three Harris writes, I won't go actually brought a top of the key without any time off that clock. He just fired away and missed it. Back. Iron six minutes to go in the game. Tigers by four sixty nine sixty five Sean Williams right side, gets it. Right. Holiday. Switch left corner decay cage Davis. He could've shot. He doesn't gives it to plumbing. He drives down lost the ball foul on MAURICE. And that's a good guy to foul. You're gonna found anybody while we Fleming, and that's the seventh. It'll be one in one for a guy who missed two already in the game. Fifty four percent of the year. And honestly, he wasn't close. Bruton's gonna leave Martin comes in. I hear swimming with the one and one problem you have you can't have a point guard chewed fit and four percent. That's very difficult to win that you have the first three throw long go and the rebound taken by antwon. Joe's at fall, by the way was on Davenport. He's got to five forty to go in the game. Memphis by four looking to go up six years Jones. That's the ball Paul's timeout. And while he was calling out the day and Fleming went to steal the ball five thirty six remaining, it's a thirty. Let's see if they make it a full..

"Of your locally owned super cuts today. And today, man, it's all about East Carolina. A lot of history between the Tigers and the pirates twenty third meeting today. Fifteen seventy so you does lead the series. They won seven of the last date. Actually, they have played much because they came into the league in two thousand fourteen in American play last year, forty one thousand five hundred seventeen at the liberty bowl. I'll November the twenty fifth of two thousand seventeen was a seventy two thirteen win for the university of melted force you remember the first play of the game senior Riley Ferguson eighty nine yards through ELS Anthony biller for touchdown. That kind of started forty nine nothing at the half six hundred thirty five yards of total offense for the Tigers. Apollo had of one hundred yard kickoff return in that game. Water day for the Tigers cokes. A sixty one yard touchdown catch. Patrick taylor. Sixty yard run as well. Great game per linebacker Curtis of seven tackles to lead the Tigers in that win. You wonder back to Mike Novell now twenty two and twelve in Memphis is one now all time against these Carolina Scottie Montgomery's, we've mentioned a moment ago eight and twenty three oh and one all time against the university of Memphis enforce November the third we're getting late in this football season fifteen times the Tigers played on this day director bay wins. Six losses and a time actually a seven game winning streak on the state from nine hundred twenty eight to nineteen Seventy-three longtime. For the Tigers lost on this day. Vanderbilt broke that streak thirteen to three win in nineteen seventy nine in Nashville Tigers actually last time out on this date. One forty one fourteen Tulsa in two thousand seventeen but in two thousand and seven a game. I know you're going to remember Forrest East Carolina came in twenty seven thousand one eighty six liberty both sixty six degrees. What a beautiful afternoon, but boy it was an offensive fireworks in that put ballgame and has a game. You'll remember that the great running back of East Carolina. Of course Johnson Kristiansson twenty carries three hundred yards and four touchdowns east. Carolina one that football game and a high scoring game fifty six to forty over. Memphis, six hundred ninety one yards total offense for East Carolina eleven point two for rush or sets an amazing stat it you just don't see that very often. The Tigers almost five hundred yards of offense as well. Martin hankins with thirty four completions out of sixty attempts hundred sixteen yards as well for him Miguel Barnes. Out of Millington. Great running the football. Do Calhoun eight receptions, one hundred seven just not enough defence for the Tigers the senior linebacker. He's granting start will had twelve tackles. But he's Carolina. Boy, I tell you. I remember the long runs heat broke that day at the liberty bowl. And that gives you know how the series is gone at Saint likely runs. The football has been able to win and set up that pass. And that's exactly what they did that day in two thousand and seven as East Carolina won by a score fifty six to forty so events the case then advantage. Maybe Memphis today because they got a kid who could run the ball and Darryl Henderson. Yes, they do and their company up to the challenge today. Absolutely Bankcorp south brings you this edition of tiger pre-game, which is happening here at the block on the Highland strip. "No in the form. I'm talking about. He's a well-built lefty. But he wears number twelve fifteen Tibo, but the kids good man as a true freshman. And I just like what I've seen. He went twenty nine a fifty three for four six against UCF two weeks ago. And I believe that was his first start came in the second half the week before against Houston surely the game. Oh, neighbor on bad beats had the ball on the goal line going in. I think three times and got zero points, and we gave out the over that week because we thought the combination of him and Milton Miller didn't even play. So we're going to go back to Greenville and this game is no it isn't green. But that's right. It is at East Carolina. Memphis foreign four we know off its prowess. But you know, obviously Mizzou took it to them as we can't get away from Missouri on this podcast, but I like the over at sixty four and a half. So I like the over in this game between Memphis and East Carolina. You talk about the mother of all spots. And I don't know. If I'm fully already to commit to this one. But he I just cut a to a little bit of full thirteen and see if they were playing the remainder of the year, but you've got Boston College as a two and a half point favorite at lane stadium a week after they completely dominated Miami is a home upset win on the road as a road favorite in a spot where for Jimmy take gave up one hundred and nine hundred rushing yards last week to Georgia Tech and next week. You've got Clemson coming to coming to chestnut hill, and you control your destiny to reach the SEC championship game in the Atlantic Division. Now, you talk about every single star aligning to to make for jingle tech the player. I might need a day or so before I decide whether I'm going to go in on this or not I if I decide to do a little denim in the in the column, but I think that's that's one to keep an eye on one that I m gonna and this is a team that I had in the open either you might have had well. UNLV? We had them early in the. Oh, yeah. USC with Armani. Rodgers now he is missed a ton of time with towing Jorie. Yeah. Practicing. Again, they initially thought he was going to be backing next week for Hawaii. There's been no commitment from Tony Sanchez whether or not he is going to play this week check that he's practicing potentially could give UNLV a bit of a boost. So in my in my late night, midnight get back game west coast stack. You went twenty five and a half point underdog against Fresno state, who I think is the best team for the group of five are that. Yeah. They're absolutely best keeping California. I believe. They've been awesome defensively they've been fantastic offense with Nick Marion, they're scoring points. Only loss that they have was on a great play by Winfield in the end zone, bro. Game at a big ten team Minnesota. They've got Boise state in a short week next week. This is getting do what you want to do get out. Nobody get hurt. They're not going to go to Vegas and loons, but twenty five twenty five and a half, I think too many, and especially if or Rogers does play this week, which I think it's probably a little bit less than fifty fifty that he does. But the fact that he's that he's out there practicing now saying maybe we were weaker early within a week eleven against why might you might have a little bit of a jets. All right now, you're saying fresno's, not gonna go to Vegas and lose. But they maybe go to party absolutely going to go to Vegas. Party. On December the fifteenth for the for the Las Vegas bowl. Liked to hear that. Do you have any more before we do money line? And there's a couple of games I on its Rifai thought about here. A couple of still kind of on the fence on. Again, if I decide to go there. I'll I'll cloud posted up day trip to calm, I guess and using a good spot against Houston Houston that big blowout win over fraudulent south Florida team..

"Got bet right away. So central Florida minus twenty one on the road at East Carolina. That was a sharp play. These games are always interesting to me because central Florida is superior in every way shape and for East Carolina, probably light years better in some respects, but not a great spot for central Florida coming off of that game last week against Memphis. So it's always interesting to see how sharp guys react to those types of games where pro pollinating standpoint, you probably have central Florida's a bigger favorite, but it's a tough situational spot for them to cover on the road. Yeah. And I think you know, we see it all the time and you know, we talked about weeks ago when. Minnesota came out flat at home to to buffalo. As you know, in in NFL is a sixteen and a half point favorites and you, you try and think that you know these, you know, these spots don't exist, but you know, they do. They do. They do all the time when you talk about look ahead, game sandwich games, all that kind of stuff. You know, teams coming off the bye all that kind of now, that's a bit of a physical advantage as well. But this happens all the time. You know these, these these things, and you definitely do get spots where you, you know, you come out flat in games. The key is obviously trying to find those spots. Three nine, three twentieth surp- action on the total over at the sl. But we've seen a lot of interesting lie moving on this game overall for game three, nine thousand nine hundred twenty Maryland on the road at Iowa. What's the story there at the I? Yeah, I've got money on this one on the total. You know if you look at Don best green, you'd probably get an idea where that came in that came on the under..

"The thing that makes this line move a little bit interesting to me again, not crossing a key number or anything like that is that we don't have a whole lot of really good data points about North Carolina. This year between suspension had a game cancelled. You'll have played three tricky road games at Cal at East Carolina. These Carolina is a very strange team this year and then at Miami, what do you think about this one? I mean, this is a hard game for me to handicap. Yeah, I agree with you. I think my numbers called Virginia Tech, but the spot calls North Carolina. They're fresh off a by most players back from suspension. They had misleading blowout loss against Miami in their last game. I mean, they allow not one two, but three defensive touchdowns at six turnovers. I believe in that one. So I, I would say the spot and misleading loss against Miami says North Carolina, but I don't like Virginia, Texas bad is what people think. I guess they just got blown out at home against Notre Dame, but they move the football up and down the field against Notre Dame's defense on. They were just out class on the second half, I, if anything push comes to show, you know, my number's closer to a full touchdown. I would say North Carolina. Plus the point is my lean here. I don't know what Virginia Tech is. I mean, it's one of those things to wear. You know when you talk about this last week, I think when we broke down Virginia Tech and Notre Dame, you know, was the quarterback that's come in for Jackson actually played really well. I think Willis is his name. He's actually played really well, but this is a team that is so devoid of defensive, play makers right now with the suspensions and the injuries and the things of that sort to that side of the ball for bud foster. But also North Carolina can't really exploited that as much as some of these other teams have. So really tough game. This is one that makes me really thankful that we've got fifty five or sixty college football games every weekend. They have the advantage. The book has over us. You got gotta light one, ten, but the Evan's you have the books you can pick which game is the bat. When you have fifty some games, there's only it's better to pass. You don't have to get involved than ever game, you know about the board. All right. Let's talk about this middle Tennessee. An f. i. u. game here game one. Forty, three one. Forty, four, very fascinating line movement here a little bit Florida. International Open minus two and a half. We got down to pick. Now we're back up to two and a half or three here. I, it's a pretty good little conference USA again. Yeah, I would say the biggest difference between my power ratings and the market this week is game, and I'm anxious to see what your number is because your best their middle Tennessee. And I think they're going to give you an honorary degree from Murphy's borough. They're down there. I, I like middle Tennessee, although the spot says f. i. middle Tennessee's on the road again after you know, Willie Nelson on the road again after beating and pulling outright upset against Marshall last week, and that's why you comes in fresh off a bye Butch Davis is doing again. Here was one of the least experienced teams in the country coming in. He's recruited very well. But a lot of those players are just freshmen and sophomores, but they had a misleading game against Miami. That was one where they were just couldn't move the football cutting get first downs, but in the fourth quarter, pulled off seventeen points to make that final more respectable. I gotta go with my number here and again, it's the biggest disparity this week. I'm gonna take middle, Tennessee, plus the points. I think wrong. Team favored. My biggest disparity is biggest Callan UCLA. I've got that one nowhere near what the market has it. In this one, though. I've got middle Tennessee minus two, so I presume you and I are kind of in the same ballpark here when it comes to this game and you know, I don't know. The thing for me is I've been as you mentioned, I've been high middle Tennessee for shift four or five years in a row..

"It's countdown to kickoff with me. Dave Nathan we've already heard from the head coach of the tar heels Larry fedora. We'll check in with issue head coach Scotty Montgomery towards the back half of our broadcast. But right now, let's say Hello to Patrick Johnson is with ninety four three the game here in Greenville about the pirates perspective, Patrick, it's been a strange week to say the least for the pirates with the game against North Carolina. A and t originally scheduled for Saturday was eventually played on Sunday the aggies get the win and here we are again on another football Saturday with North Carolina in town to face off. Against E C. You you tell me between Saturday and Sunday what was going on in Greenville and how difficult the twenty four hour stretch to think it was postponed the game and moving it from one day to the next day for the team. It was interesting because they had to go and spend the ninety cherry when the decision was reached the play on Sunday as we know teams. Even if the plane a home game stay in a hotel somewhere. Most most of the time a win. They have a a game at home, even when they gave it home. Well, the closest hotel that could accommodate the traveling party if you will for East Carolina and priests year was he Kerry AG had becomes insatiable. Because they'd already checked out of their rooms for the king that night. So from that standpoint the travel in the last second nature of it. I'm sure was probably a little hectic stands. There's a pretty good crowd on Sunday there. But I think it was a little bit frustrating because it originally started as a lightning delay and lightning was at least fifteen miles from the stadium. But per those rules of the NCAA you start to clear the stadium that was a lengthy delay. And then the emotion of coming out of the tunnel, the national anthem all the pageantry before the game. And they're like when they're ready to kick off the game is called again because of a Pindi storm that game was a frog strangler. So it was just a real weird situation. I've never really been through anything like that before we've seen games have to get moved because of hurricanes or other disasters. But that was really strange one on Saturday night hearing from coach fedora on Monday at his weekly press conference. He seemed to think that East Carolina had more than its fair share of opportunities to win that game. Game against North Carolina and t how close do you feel like the game actually was and what were some of those moments that you feel like slip through the fingers of the pirates? I think anytime that you struggle to run the football and the red zone is Easter on who didn't just run struggle to run the football for the day. It's going to be tough sledding, especially against the program like ANT has a winning culture. And that has won all these games in a row now, and you know, regardless of level of football. They know how to win football games. That's something that right now. East Carolina program at least under studying Montgomery does not in still trying to figure out how to do that. I think read hearing the quarterback the kid for Millbrook and Raleigh had some good moments. But he threw at sixty five times, I think you cannot through it that many times against UNC and have any success in this game. And I really do believe that pairing just made a couple of what you would call rookie mistakes the pick six retried throw it across his body on the run going into the end zone. Kicked off by the ANC secondary man, and he returned it all the way for the score of more savvy battle-tested quarterbacks just gonna throw that out the back of the end zone. That was a big big hit net game. That was probably a sling that was going to go from nine points. Fourteen points in a sense in favor of ANC pirates. Just probably touchdowns the red zone. Woes are really frustrating. Two minute drill. At the end of the game was laughable. It's like they had never run a two minute drill and practice at any point and the confusion at the end of the game. Frankly, embarrassing Atra Johnson. Our guest on countdown to kickoff. He covers the pirates. He follows them. He lives him embrace him for ninety four point three the game and Greenville and not to belabor the point so much on last week because this is a new week and this is a new game. But you're in the community year round the program. Give us a sense of what this week has been liking Greenville from fan atmosphere standpoint in where people want this program to be. I think they wanted to be the point where it's winning again at scoring a lot of points. Like they did in the previous two match up to the tar heels. I don't of course, they talk about this all week, and we're Cardenas decaying, and we're analyzing, and we're talking to experts about how we think the game's going to turn out and everybody seems to believe that this could be kind of a defensive game a hand of the dirt. Seven three struggle or anything. But just fireworks that we've seen pensively from these teams story, and essentially as we've seen from you see you in the series, the thing I think it's real interesting is there was a lot of anger after what happened Sunday night. And of course, you have the long holiday weekend. So that may be festered a little bit. Eirik fans may have had an extra day of let's just say perhaps through choice beverages. Numbing their wolves for an extra day on the holiday perhaps. I think Tuesday g reality had settled in that program. Still is not where it needs to be understanding Montgomery in his third year. There's a lot of frustration with that focus since Wednesday. I think is really shifted back to this game which use Carolina fans and pirate fan state. Very very seriously anytime they play school from the or from the big four or NC State or UNC. It'll be interesting. I it's been a great atmosphere. The last few days on Friday night, the Dan Parmalee, it's the big country rock concert downtown. So revelry abound in Greenville on this game day. We're talking about the pirates and tar heels with Patrick Johnston is with ninety four point three the game in Greenville. It's Carolina and issue coming up at three thirty the reach jewelers pre game show on the way at two thirty right now it's down to kick off and Patrick. Much focus as there is on this game between the pirates and tar heels you scroll down the schedule just a little bit things. Don't get any better or any easier with a trip to Blacksburg coming up in a week's time you had to mention that day. Now, he's going to beat south in Blacksburg next week. Even if these Carolina and one against ANT, and we're we're able to beat the tar heels today and be two or even if they beat the tar heels today are able to go one and one that's gonna be a tough deal for them heading into Blacksburg. And then they go on the road to take on US USF. That's open up American conference play never easy, regardless of who the opponent is to head out on the road and open your conference slate against an opponent on the is the road team things get a little easier with ODU after that they had some problems with that program, and then the temple obviously, didn't look very good last week against a very good FCS Villanova level team. But this is just a tough schedule, really edgy UNC Virginia Tech USF. That's a that's a tough four games. A lot of teams in the country would probably not have a winning record against that gauntlet because of all the various factors involved with the interstate rivalries. The emotion just outgoing Virginia Tech. And how good the US program is, you know, later on in the year, Houston UCF who you would see we'll see next week Memphis. There's some tough tough gains. And it's going to be interesting to see if things don't turn around in Greenville. How long study Montgomery can can really kind of weather that because it's a brutal schedule coming up. That's a Patrick Johnson with ninety four three the game in Greenville with us here on countdown to kickoff Patrick enjoy the rest of pre game, and we'll see up in the press box here in a little bit. We've got a hot plate of barbecue. Ready for you? I'll take all I can get what I go east. That's the only thing that you'll find on my plate. Patrick. Thanks again. You got our pleasure. We've got more count data kickoff. Coming your way, right after this. Don't go away. We're back in mere moments from learfield. Think about the last time you moved. Remember how you said you'd never do it alone. Again, we know moving is tough. But at two men and a truck we make it easy..
