Which may sound familiar to you if you're an avid reader of ea v magazine but in case you missed. January's issue john. Why don't you tell listeners. A little bit about the events and how this whole thing got started. Well first of all first of all how and christina thank you so much for For the opportunity to represent all the folks involved in the in the backwoods challenge and it is that kind of a labor of love for us. And and we're excited at you know at what's happened in your coverage on it and really excited about what might happen in the future. So the the backwoods challenge itself is held down in north west arkansas. And it's kind of a hidden gem of an area backwards flying. The a lot of people know about they think about backcountry backwards flying. They think about. Going to idaho and montana and alaska all that or maybe you know the appalachians And the east coast. But they don't think a lot about what's available right in the mid west and there is an area that encompasses kind of southern missouri Southeast kansas south or north west oklahoma and predominantly sorry northeast oklahoma and predominantly north west. Arkansas that has mountains it can go up to his highest re thousand feet and It's just there's a slew of of runways down there that are there are truly challenging. Runways anything from five hundred feet. Too long runways. It can accommodate jets all the same region so That became the focus of an area. Where a lot of us go to To do the backcountry flying to learn and our skills and specifically a place called birds adventure center

"Remember despu that hot new photo social app that we were keeping our eye on as a potential next big thing despu basically made you wait until the morning before your photos developed in quotes was co founded by famous youtuber. David dark well. One of dispose. Major backers spark capital has suddenly announced. It is quote severing all ties with despu after claims of sexual assault against a member of dough bricks. Vlog squad arose last week. I suppose i need to back up and explain a bit david. Dobby has been called the jimmy fallon of gen z for his popular youtube videos which apparently focus on comedy and pranks and stunts and the like tens millions of subscribers. Nobody is one of those youtubers. That has one of those multimillion dollar mansions that is extensively the scene of a lot of his videos. He also has this sort of entourage of people known as the wlac squad who also star in his videos. It is a member of the long squad that is accused of the sexual assault though there have been some other questionable incidents lately that dober- himself has recently apologized for in video anyway without getting too in the weeds overall that last week mr dobric was losing sponsors left and right hellofresh dollar shave club. Ea sports seatgeek all severed ties. The very first link in the show notes can give you a rundown of all of that. Now normally i do tend to steer clear of these sorts of youtube star and influence or controversies but there is real sort of industry news here. Because i can't really recall seeing this happened before quoting techcrunch. In light of the recent news about the wlac squat and david dobric the co founder of despu. We have made the decision. To sever all ties with the company spark capital tweeted. We have stepped down from our position on the board and we are in the process of making arrangements to ensure we do not profit from our recent investment in despu and quote spark capital's decision to step back from the despu investment. Feels like a first of its kind. And if not rare it could trigger other investors with stakes in the company to do the same spark capital led a series a. in despu a twenty million dollar financing event that valued the company at two hundred million dollars less than a month ago. The current statement by spark does not indicate that the investment has been pulled from the company yet spark capital did not immediately respond to requests for comment in regards to what this process would look like and if the shares will be sold back to the company or to another buyer

I wouldn't do this. It's god's will there will be consequences for those who don't support gods people just a matter of time folks. We need to be calm and supportive needed support. Not just president trump. all those who support the america first policy. Because that's what needs to come back if we can pull in the house and the senate and we can pull in the pull the president back it. Yeah i was looking at options. There was a great article in one of the none of. It's me we are one of the other ones and talking about how trump could come in and run for senate come the become the we can take over the senate Income the speaker or house become the speaker. Whatever take back in you know. Impeach biden than impeach kamala harris than trump's president. You could happen and it's true it could happen will it have. I don't know. I don't know i don't know you'll be your first. That's the thing. I was looking back in history in any tire history. As far as i can find no president ever went back backwards. Went back into a senate seat for house. I would love to see donald trump sitting there especially like the midst of the house. All these other people just squirming namby-pamby re 'fraidy cat republicans democrats that call themselves. Republicans donald trump looking staring them in the face. Like don't you dare vote wrong. I can just see. That would be so beautiful. There's a lot of potential for what could happen. Donald trump definitely is not out of the picture. Yeah nor nor is if we if we can make elections legal again. There's always a potential comeback twenty twenty four. But we've got to fix the election the whole election system and that's what donald trump is working on. That's what a lot of people work on. At this point it was an election. I wish i had in front of me. I lost the patriot. I had where i put it. But there's just a recent election where the age they determined that. There was a complete fraud in the election. You like induction process and the actually turned over the election and are requiring a re a revote. You've got go back to the polls because they cheated.

But it's not really there and the same thing is happening in the stock market because that game stop deal revealed that they were buying and shorting stocks that didn't exist and when they were cold to put up the stock wasn't there wasn't there. That's what the big ruckus about. Their plane was stuff that doesn't exist if we're ever called on this debt if this money ever actually goes into circulation we're out of luck but no they wanna make you register your gun. They wanna tell you that you can can't marry the person of your choice. They wanna tell you that you can't go to church because you might catch the virus intel you to wear a mask news dangerous virus out there and you can't go to work you to give you this bogus money. Where do you see what happens when people start working again and this bogus. Money is all now in circulation all these thousand dollar bills that are being handed out and yeah. That's a good point. One watching my chat here. Eric makes a good point. That it's the fiftieth anniversary of when nixon and the congress removing the america from the gold standard nuts. That was the year richard. Nixon pulled us off the gold standard internationally. And that's one reason. I brought up richard nixon. As one of the infamous folks. The problem was is that as we as we get more. You can see what's happening with bitcoin. Bitcoin is the barometer of our economy. Because bitcoin is very limited psych but even more limited and now these big companies are buying this if monetary coin whatever dumb purpose. I mean. it's the dumbest thing that it's ever been created. I mean. I wish i had gotten into it because to be rich now but i i couldn't bring myself to even get involved with something that's so fake but you can watch the price of bitcoin as people buy into it and that's the value of our economy. That's the same thing happened. Our economy because the bitcoin is is has real value. Because.

I said somewhat jokingly but good afternoon yeah it was It was funny. I heard you say that that they they probably didn't need it. And i think that's true i it feels like a continuation of what we've seen lots last years. Which was you know nick. Sabin had this formula when he was able to win national championships. Then he revamped it and now you is using all of these elite athletes in space offensively. Getting the best one and you know. Now they have three of five heisman. That's why I thought you may be talking about they are they are in Nebraska. So I just thought maybe maybe that was the big announcement concerning business. Unfortunately, I'm wrong. This one actually has to do this first one. I didn't even know because I wasn't a big video game guy was never. I didn't play a lot of those college football games from EA sports back in the day, but there hasn't been College football video games for like a decade now, right? Maybe maybe longer. Shorter hammer since 14 4004. Okay, so it's okay. EA Sports came out with college football in this had the Michigan quarterback on the cover Denard Robinson Robinson, and after that, Copyright issue came in, and players wanted to get paid for their likenesses, and all the college video games had to come to an end. Well now It sounds like college football. Maybe coming back. EA Sports. The folks who make the football video game are re booting college football starting next year. Now there's no other information about this of whether they've reached some sort of agreement with the N C. A or if they're going to be paying for the use of lightness is and all that kind of legal stuff has of the N C. One of the biggest problems we had with this past election was bloomberg who went out and raise hundreds of millions of dollars. I'm not running. Well guess what he is. An individual could only get fifty seven hundred dollars to the democratic party or any of their candidates or about ten thousand dollars to a pack however as a former candidate with a bankroll of two hundred three hundred million dollars by federal law. He's allowed to give that all that to anyone candidate or anyone party or any one pack. That's ludicrous it's insane. It's totally wrong. Because mullah most of that money was his. He gave himself all that money. Now he can give donation. Could joe biden for three hundred million dollars. Ubisoft Is Developing A Massive Open-World ‘Star Wars’ Video Game

"Open world star was game is in development. Not at electron arts sits in development at. Ub soft it's from the division developer yousof massive. No indication has been given us u whether it would be single player or multiplayer. Or what part of the star was timeline or win and might be released but Ub eve chemo says quote on. It's an original stores adventure. That is different from anything that has been done before. Sam what do you make of that. It can't be two stories. you can't be star. Wars chess masters tarazi yummy. Oh it's none of those things. If you just eliminate all the way star wars has manifested itself. You can figure out what this game is because it's not any of those cannon whatever it is going to be cannon with with just films and everything everything our young everything hanan. I think this is such cool news. the division is not necessarily my cup of tea but like big aaa studio. That's really really well. Resourced and capable of of of doing star wars justice undeniably so Yeah i'm really really excited. We also dug into some of the jobless things because obviously now the the word is out there like our star wars project and they're able to be a little bit more descriptive there. Nothing to revelatory words like open world action adventure linear and lawn on linear storytelling. An rpg style progression were thrown around. So it's a video game folks you heard for as many star wars games as we've gotten. Yeah it's been a million where you know this this little trailer montage. That's running a showing several of them. We haven't really ever gotten a big aaa open world star wars game. There has been role playing games. And you know jet. I fallen order is. I don't know what you would call that wide. Probably i would. I would think on the positive side. This is just yet i fall. And were because it's a bunch of open areas and ed fine with me but i want i want like i want like sky rim levels of open like our fallout lending open area. Yeah i want like actual open world star wars game. Where like that's this weird hole in the in all the star wars games we've gotten in the past if it was that that that could work well but what worries me is seeing the division footage and thinking about the avengers and like you know we did our lessons being learned about what You know open world games are when they are also games a service or are thus not being learned about that and people really like the division say anthems that the thing that scares me as much as a jazz. Yeah that's a that's a very real you know. I'd like star wars as much as the next nerd. But the franchise assertive written into a corner because there are no jet. I in modern star wars so unless they go back in time to old republic all any player ever want to do is run around as a djeddai but the fiction of every single star. Wars game has to itself for why you know. I'm not a jet. I but i'm using a lightsaber or Or calcutta's in jeddah. Fallen order is a jet. I'd here's why you know. No one knows about him like i. It's this big stumbling block. That like every star wars game has to overcome so but even if you are jet. I like you can't be getting a new lightsaber and equipping new loot and being on this loop dried. Really like he got different different robes. Sure where they can make that work. that's horrible. I think that's why a builder public works of the time when there were there were a lot of it is. I'm definitely a fan of a lot of ubisoft. Open world games. A lot of the Is far cries but Yeah just to echo what you're saying. The divisions are really my cup of tea. Either a shared world sort of lewd or shooters not really what. I what i'm into. So i don't know i don't know what to make of this Tina i know you like a lot of assassins creeds. Obviously like open games shema. What what's your take on this. I didn't play of division one. I did actually like the vision to i think there are. Rpg elements that make sense and like you know really big dense world to go around and do different activities in could could be a really good fit to so. I have confidence that us off. Nasa is a great choice in general Breaking out of. Ea exclusively is a good thing for them if felt like felt like ea developing those games Was a bit of practice for what is now known as lucasfilm games. And now they get to branch out and pick like a clipper per the type of game that they're going for so that they don't feel necessarily like hamstring into Squeezed into one publisher particularly. So it's like they got a little bit confidence with the successive jet iphone. Order and star wars squadrons and a couple advancements the battlefront two. So they've figured out a formula that could work and now they get to poach essential essentially developers from different talents to figure out what else they're gonna do in this increasingly dense cannon star wars world.

Lucasfilm and Ubisoft Announce Open-World STAR WARS Game

"Well you might also want be ubisoft. Who announced wednesday that it. Swedish massive studio is collaborating with lucasville game. Lucasfilm games on an original story game set in the star wars universe. The game will use the snowdrop engine. Also used in tom. Clancy's the division electronic has exclusively deal for star wars games that expires in two thousand twenty three but he says it will continue to develop star wars games. Non-exclusive lucasfilm games also announced tuesday that an indiana jones game is in development with machine games. Scott i have a hunch. You're excited about the very excited about this as a as the gaming community i'll be there spokesman for the moment It's exciting stuff. Machine games known for their work on the wolfenstein Recent games those are excellent. first person shooters. This doesn't indicate whether that indiana jones game would be first person or not but back to the open world star wars stuff. There's been a little bit of stagnation with star wars licensed stuff since disney got a hold of all the licenses they stop their own internal studios disney's interactive went away And they moved everything to a or they may deals with the a for most of their exclusive licensing to star wars games that a couple hits in there a couple of big bombs some very controversial stuff with battlefront and microtransactions. And and that sort of thing Was at the forefront of that mess. So it's been kind of an ugly period or than just period and what it sounds like. Now they're they're basically saying all right. Look we've got we've got the lucas games. Banner back it's here and that is a lot of cachet a lot of history behind it Even outside of star wars related stuff. And we've got to be soft. Who makes really great. Maybe some of the industry's best open world games. They're open world style is very well known and respected And the division to not not that kind of open world game There's real prowess to that. And i think that that's the right team And given that when all the other resources they will be soft they should be able to make a really killer open world game. Which is my favorite kind of game. So i'm beyond excited about an open world star wars game made by a big city like this and it's nice to see him spread it around a little bit. Not be so exclusive exclusively. Ea

Insights of Commanding a Carrier Jet Squadron with Jack Curtis

"Jack curtis here on dose of leadership. Welcome to the show my friend. Thank you very much for having me. It's pleasure this is going to be an interesting conversation. I mean it's obviously. I love having fellow prior military folks on here but now that i got a fellow gold winger on here so that's always fun but never had anybody that's been in command of a squadron on one of the things that i always regret. I gotta the ring court right at ten years. I got the airlines. But what are the an. I ten years reserves and the guard. But i always regretted not taking. I always want to know what it'd be like. Take command so this is going to be a fun conversation. I am interested from your aspect of it. I was joking when i got on the call with. You don't look old enough to take command. But i forget how my squadron commander was like in the late thirties. Fifty two now. And you're in your early forties right so you just don't look old enough to take command but i it's just me not dealing well with the age of getting older but but thanks for coming on the show man privilege beer. I've listened to your show for for a long time. Several years. And i gotta i gotta admit i'm pretty humbled to have looked at the lineup of people you've got on your show and the quality conversations you've had into now get to be a part of. Its thank you well new and i have a history to because i don't how many years ago wasn't you reached out to me. I mean in karachi. That's probably two thousand and fifteen. Or so i had just selected been selected for command was kinda starting to do a little bit of thinking about Some this bigger picture leadership stuff and i came across your podcast. And i said hey. I think i'd like to talk to this guy. And your gracious enough with your time and I remain grateful for that. Yeah and you reached out in an i. Don't remember what advice gave you. Hopefully it was. It was okay enough. Didn't get fired very go. And and then you reach that again graciously a blast from the past and you kinda update me where you're at and i appreciate you. I thought well this might be good to have you on the show because it gives an insight to leadership that i think a lot of people usually don't get the inside baseball on right and i'm curious to because it's something that i've never experienced. It's something that i always wish. I wonder how i would do. But you had a unique experience. Let just for the sake of our listeners. Your naval aviator right. You eventually started flu wing. How long have a perspective here. What year was that yes. We'll jump in the way back machine. A graduated from the university of florida in may of two thousand I immediately went up. To pensacola started flight. School you're familiar with this track You made my way through Through flight school and then ended up finishing in may of two thousand. Two's almost exactly two years of flight school which is relatively quick Yeah i had a lot of A lot of wait times like six Wait six months. then i'd start a phase. Wait six started phase so it took me a while. Yeah i was really grateful to be able to go through that quickly to i think And your instructor. If i recall correctly i mean one of the things. That's so important. When you're learning a new skill or a trade or a job or task is just repetition over and over and as you work towards those ten thousand hours right and You know being able to go through flight school. That quickly meant that. I was flying almost every day. I was in a simulator almost every day. Sometimes twice a day and You know being a middle of the bell curve kind of blue collar pilot. Like i'm in a career of repetition important so yeah long. Answer your question but i got winged in two thousand and two. Okay good yeah so that you're about eleven years ahead head me or eight years. I got winged and yeah ten years ahead of me winged in. I wanna keep doing this math. I'm like my head's about to explode anyway. I'm old you're not so that's the whole thing that it came up with so you get and you fly the ea six right. And so you're you're flying to that and eventually transition to the e. Eighteen growler super hornet and eventually took command right. And so. when did you so this is interesting. So when did is this your first command and when was this. When was your first command. Yeah so you know the navy. Does things a bit differently than Some of the other services particularly army and the marines where he will have a platoon commander for our company commander the navy Typically there are a few exceptions with some of the small ships but The navy typically reserves its first level of command at the level In the marine corps. In the army as lieutenant colonel battalion command in the navy at squadron command of a squadron commanded on the aircraft side or it could be on the ships a destroyer Nope yes this is. My perception commands I took command having been in the navy for. I think the eighteen year mark

With rural areas get lots of sun or wind utilizing these technologies staves building infrastructure which is a waste but in rural even small rural communities in urban areas. It just doesn't work. The problem is we have this huge issue. And we'll tell you something to think about. We have three classes of citizens right now in the united states. That can be broken down into far left. Far right and putting call populist now that were politically oriented but those people whose groups are very specific. The far left ninety percent of the far left live in cities of population of one million or greater. Live like heathen. The LCK led all esports leagues in 2020 with 136.6 million hours watched

"Here. This was an article from dadi. Sports the headline was the l. C. k led all sports leagues in two thousand twenty with one hundred thirty six point. Six million hours watched The sub-headline korea has always excited global fans with its star studded league of legends squads I mean the numbers are are huge. I mean this. This particular graph for those who've you're listening to the podcast. I'm showing a grafter. The most watched e sports tournaments in twenty twenty the top four are all league of legends. World's twenty twenty then spring than elsie case summer than lic summer and then number. Five you know is is Pudgy mobile Tournament but basically the top four out of the five most watched sports tournaments and twenty twenty. Were all league of legends and korea's elsie k. If you combine the numbers here 'cause they had spots two and three Had by far the most number of hours watched one hundred and thirty six million hours watched. Are you surprised. William at this at this sort of Ranking year these numbers at riot right seems to be killing it on all fronts at the moment right is just rockstar. You you'd almost be hard pressed to sail. Riot is ease sports. Play reading yours. The numbers you know. It's pretty tough if you're if you're out the top four slots being your property in a different form you know. It's pretty incredible You know. I actually to be honest with you. Went did surprise me. It didn't didn't right like it did. Surprise me in the sense that i think there's so much focus on north american sports right now right and to a lesser extent like european sports but still significant extent and i think there is a real sense that ea sports his matured beyond korea right like like the global market like it just like career where it started but like it's a global phenomenon now and as a result of that like the global markets are taking over. You know what i mean like. Just by virtue of korea's A smaller market relative to other countries in populations things like other markets was naturally outgrow. Any what you're seeing. "Was distraught. Didn't attend a meeting. A year went by never heard from anybody from the meeting. Kept thinking about going in and explain. Why didn't wasn't going. How bad i was feeling no get knocked on the door. Do they get a prayer chain. Did they get someone putting your arm around me and saying. Hey how you how you making. No i get a letter from the quaker meeting house and the philadelphia yearly meeting philadelphia. Dear mr checked. You're not a quaker anymore. Because you didn't pay your ties goodbye pretty much exactly what it said. For ten years. I wandered aimlessly giving up faith in the lord but i knew god was with me. I prayed to god that i would find the pass that i went to black baptist churches in philadelphia. I went and sat with the buddhist monks. Cry just about every religion. It was out there. Finally i said you know what the bible's got a lotta good things that but it's missing the piece of the puzzle. It's missing the original intent. That original intent was that people should get together in a group and pray to god. Whatever that god may be created my own church we met at the firehouse in many many times and was an impromptu thing on saturdays three or four people getting together for a lot of people back into the fold but only because we sat and we listened. We talk all comes down to genesis. All comes down to belief in god a belief in your future a belief that you are part of god. God is you in his image. He made man and he made woman in his image in his image. So tonight we're going to sit down to prayer prayer for our nation. Not donald trump's going to win. Not that we're going to get a great stimulus check or or not not that we're going to have our restaurants back opened again and be able to take our face masks.

This evening we're going to say a deep prayer to understanding of all this going on and all that is yet to come with faith in god. The god alone knows the past. We will succeed. We must have that faith and we must not give up that faith so dear heavenly father. Let's pray your heavenly father. We pray that you give us the power. And the strength to remain ever vigilant to pass your word on the your strength and courage on not only to others outside the fold which there are many these days to those who call themselves great christians who call themselves great levers in god in whatever form who failed to have the face needed to trust in you heavenly father. Please give us that strength. Please see that we have the power to prevail in your holy name. We pray amen. What are the essential in. The human body can have many chemicals that are our cat. Darrell k dot com. So as always. We're gonna start out a little bit slow kind of the opposite of what most broadcast or podcast do. We seem to build up people in the on a live cast over time in new. Y- typically on my podcast. The theme runs through the the the majority of the podcast. If you missed the beginning you may be bored with the end. So it's better to be bored to beginning build up that excitement towards the end we start out with a little bit of a philosophy that i have personally a lot of the christians. We look at the new testament as soon as the book. you know. it's the only book to read. In fact a lot of lot of good practicing christian. Good people carry a new testament around my my church minister of modern day christian fellowship reverts that and takes back the old testament and the important things in the old testament because the old testament is the concrete foundation for the new testament. Without which there is no new testament new testament. We're forgiven of our sins from the old testament. We're forgiven sins of the past. But those sins were based on gifts that were given to us by god. The entire universe given to us by god. There's a lot of great things in the old testament that bring people back into the fold. The number of times. That women are empowered in the old testament. Everyone says oh. It's a man's book about men and is true. Men had a lot of the power back in those days. But when god created god created us in his image man and woman he created them in his image. Now why is that. Such an important statement is probably the most important statement in the entire bible old and new testament and most people ignore it. It's incredibly important because it shows us that we have that power with us. The power of god resides within each and every one of us. If we to accept it choose to use it. We have the power to change the way our country runs. We have the power to change the way we think. And the way others think by believing in ourselves and believing that we are got incarnation essentially. Because that's what the test the old testament says. That's why you don't see god you don't stand up and talk to god but when you talk god hears because all of us in existence every human being a small part of that small piece of god. That's why we need to maintain that power and strength and this election is really proven that most christians sir bible people call themselves bible believers most jews who believe in god and tradition more than anyone gave them and they're still giving up. Oh it's over it's over for donald trump. it's over for america it's done. We've used our last card folks. There's still some trump cards left literally rather than the mon the things that we've lost. Let's have faith. Let's have prayer sessions. Let's have believe until the bitter end until the twentieth of january. Nothing is over. And i'm the sixth of january. We may be surprised house george election ago. I don't know. I talked to god every night. I say god. Please help us please. I love you. Please help us. I trust you. You can't pray for something specific like god. Let trump win. Maybe that's not the best thing for. I don't know i hope. Trump wins the pray for god knows is right. What will that be and why will it they. We have to have faith that the path is right. We have to believe that tower of believing that will make things happen. All right waited long enough on the copy of the night. I just had to get that off. My chest elections the election process. How did we get where we are today at. Thomas jefferson said that a republican last about two hundred years most countries lasts most most democracies last about two hundred years and they fall apart. So how did we get to. We are today and is it possible to fix it. I don't think it's ever going to be fixed. Sadly because there too much monetary interest in in having it broken too much monetary interest in having the lust of the world at your fingertips in the money that it brings in greed lust for luxuries. We are everything. The bible tells you not today but why did it work for so long sadie to go back to the days of the constitution and it was about six. I believe sixteen years after the constitution was written it was actually ratified during that sixteen year. Period founders had many many. Many meetings was after the constitution was written. Couldn't figure out how to actually piece everything together so it would function not just for now to get away from england not just from now to get away if the rule of pope for all time and they knew that this wouldn't last they created they chose to discuss rather a democracy republic an answer and several other forms of ruler of role as well. They came down to a choice that most people don't like to call it that but it was was called a. m. democratic republic now call a constitutional republic but basically the democracy part lies in the fact that we can vote for the people that are supposed to represent us theoretically and those people do the bidding for us they chose a constitutional republic because democracy fails and you can see that right now they want you know pop the popular vote. That's a democracy the popular vote and one hundred and three hundred million. Excuse me one hundred. Two hundred million people live in the cities and one

"Now moving on to another major announcement that was quite baffling. Ea play which is their subscription service on origin or a desktop app. Or whatever is now going to be on xbox game pass for p. c. until twenty twenty one. That's right it's gonna miss the holidays so if you've got an air on the xbox program on windows ten that's the reason why 'cause i got it a few times and tell updated it and i don't get any more but it was funny because one saying Air you can't do this because it's not their insults out there because you guys delayed the launch of this but if you look on the xbox app you can see a play games on there so it's very interesting to see what's happening with that and hopefully to come out soon weird that they actually did this like the eleventh hour. It seems like up. Not we're just gonna postpone this but they have so you don't have to wait a little bit longer to play games on the xbox game pass so should be interesting but he play is okay the plus the pro or whatever it's called is actually a better version of it but i guess can get a little taste of it. They're hoping to get a little bit of tastes. You can actually go. And purchase the annual subscription or the monthly subscription for it. I'm not really convinced of it. I think xbox pasa or even one with ex cloud is actually a better by an ea play pro. But that's just my opinion on

"The first here is from the motley fool and the headline tencent makes another billion dollar gaming acquisition. The chinese technology and media conglomerate has been on an acquisition spree in the gaming space making its leadership position even stronger What they bought here was Lay you lay you technologies. Which is the parent company of digital extremes And it's a canadian. Based video game studio known for war frame they also own studios including athlon and splash damage. Ten sense going to be paying roughly one and a half billion in cash Choir the company which is incredible The buying spree that they've been on the amount of cash that they've put out there the second acquisition this one I think we talked about it on a previous podcast And it was a agrees to a us. One point two billion dollar deal for f one video game developer code masters. I think when we talked about it we were talking about it in the context of take two interactive having made an offer and ea sort of just trump them. The came came up with an offer for about two hundred or two hundred and fifty million dollars more so they were willing to pay a higher Share price 'cause code masters is publicly traded. And so it looks like ea is going to end up acquiring code masters having outbid take two interactive. Which i think at the time when we talked about it we felt that was a big price. Tag billion dollars for code masters and now the looks like the trading price is going to be one point. Two billion so curious to get your guys thought You know we can talk about them individually or we can talk about sort of which one we think is the better acquisition Neil i don't know if you know the war frame guys. I know it is canadian based a candidate based But curious to get your thoughts on these two. My i take is. I know you guys are fans of this gentleman. But jeff bezos when you look at code masters being bought yeah code about being bought for one point two billion. Let's just taking kids that are issued. How amazing that twitch nine hundred seventy six years ago right on decide to eight point. Nine children should win. Ea i think is in such a good spot and we might say openly. Here that one would you billionaires demo overpaying if you look at the stock run that they've been onto it's a currency unto itself and there probably sixty seventy percent on the year and adding more aaa titles to their. Snow is all the better. I think they've just done a tremendous job in and similar racing at f. One especially with what we saw as a result of that netflix series drug survive and get him is f. One is making a huge comeback younger audiences and people that have now seen this through netflix. And then people that are you know. Middle aged or know mid thirties to my age is. We're all obsessed and we're following it every week and it's quite dramatic as i didn't care about f. one at all in the last couple of years. But i'll admit. I've i've in the playstation store i've bought the f. one game it's not that great in my opinion maybe not that good at driving it but i think the acquisition is worth the risk. You want to be known as as a world class when it comes to fee for Nhl sim racing. They've got such great titles along the way and you know the team over there in teams doing it competitive gaming entertainment now. They're just making the right most. I don't know much about this. Said deal admittedly But anything tencent touches It's a powerful move and they're building empire that we should be very very afraid of. I mean both seem like really good acquisitions from synergies perspective right because ea has all the sports titles so f one feels like a perfect fit and and ten cents graded monetization right. Probably better than anyone and wore. Frame really is one of these free to play like monetize. Every which way up the wazoo kind of games like it's in the ten cent portfolio both of these acquisitions. I have to tell you like in a vacuum. I thought they were already owned by the people. Buying them like no joke. Like i literally thought were frame was somehow i was like. That's just the sort of thing they buy and the same for ea. Like i literally thought. Like i played grid quite a lot in my memory. Brid was an ea game like it was published by ears. I don't know. But like i just that tells you how lake like well on portfolio on message these acquisitions. Our prices are high. But as neil said like the market tie and then took to other point as well you know putting in context of bazo acquisition. Like doesn't matter where you put money and put it games like i think anything that was bought for a billion dollars a couple years ago smart because there were a couple wasn't just twitch we had minecraft myra look in a world where roadblocks goes public at thirty billion or forty billion market cap like buying minecraft at four or five or whatever they paid right seems like house. Yeah just like microsoft like so like the bottom line is but guises whiting. Listen to this podcast. It's so important. It's just like this is not the exception. This is the norm putting money in games today will turn into more money later. More likely than not investment advice aside. I'm not a credit above because the industry is just so positioned. It's the future of so much entertainment media and everything so like the reason. We're observing these crazy exits and outcomes is because the space is a whole is growing so much right so lake. Get into the space. That's the bottom line william. I'm with you on that. A hundred thousand percent. And i think the interesting thing is re that are in the industry. we talk with these things very openly. We discuss them. But from an outside portfolio manager at a morgan stanley wherever they probably are afraid

Jack Leahy - Enterprise Ethereum Alliance

"Jackie young the membership director for the enterprise. Enduring alliance really happy to be here today. Thanks for having me on again gently at the ea. The is really focused around enabling organizations to adopt and use during technology and their daily business operations really focused on empowering the ecosystem more generally within the overall you dear ecosystem manda Personally from background. Perspective and come from the world of the world of enterprise technology consulting and sales. I've done a number of large implementations and deployments with a number fortune five hundred organizations are spending across from a devops strategy to cloud operationalisation to supply gene inventory optimization via learning models and artificial intelligence and so i have a pretty widespread enterprise consulting background as i had mentioned most notably around the microsoft stack but have done work across long. Vm ware Across most of that relatively traditional it architectural stacks and twenty seventeen. I started to get more and more interested in crypto decentralized computing space and starting to get more interesting more interested overall for me he perspective and starting to pay really close attention chew how many enterprises and the people that i was interfacing with were really developing on ethereal and the overall platform and again The most recent that i had had was focused on consulting around service now and the mic stack and i saw how much microsoft was investing in jail their azure. You're deaf jet predicated on the theory ecosystem largely and i started just pay more close attention to began. How many organizations were really building with any theorem and had the opportunity late in two thousand nineteen to go head first into the game ecosystem and within the blockchain world and Got the opportunity over as a membership director at the ea starting in january and so twenty twenty has been quite an interesting year and been really needs deep by ever since really glad you were able to make it to the podcast. Today excited to hear about What you've experienced the sarum ecosystem and what things are going on at the ea. I don't. I don't know a ton about the serum enterprise alliance. Maybe a little background My perspective there wasn't much Thoughts about win crypto first came out you know of of making this Really tailored to enterprise Until a theory. I'm came out with a smart contracts and and things of that nature and then bencher price base really took to a theory in ways that i didn't imagine Initially it could you tell me a little bit more about the and what it is and who are the members and how how does one become a member. and they ultimate goal of the organization. Absolutely see that's about saddening and you're you're spat on as far as enterprises building any theorem. And i think that's largely predicated on many of the technological foundations the backbone of ethiopian and it being more of a developer focus application tom development focus blockchain competing system and as a result of that. That's why there's been such widespread adoption From enterprises and more emerging technology organizations like And from an ea perspective Really rigid with some founding members Back in two thousand seventeen Some of those included consensus. Gp morgun intel a number of others. Who are still very involved within the. Ea is well as a number of other organizations and what they're really focused on is having an ecosystem of best practices to build within the theory. Him from both aig Private permission boxing. Perspective to public may net perspective as well and The as was largely built dine. The enterprise theorem specification which we are now nearing version. Six of it and the specification is finalized. Which we're really proud of and that's really kind of morphed into the whole genesis of like corum that's been bill dead consensus and jp morgan. I'm now Formerly done under consensus. And that's where a liar lot. A lot of the work had been predicated on in the past and organizations. Join a again just to be with really like an expert network of people to kind of collaborate on the things that they're challenged with within their organization and how to take Some of the the internal capital and resources that we have our disposal and how to leverage that more effectively within one's own business and so we've seen a number of different creations within the ea from quorum with large built within the token taxonomy initiative free cell framework token taxonomy and building out smart contracts were actively from the business protocol which is hugely important right now and his gaining just a ton of momentum and excitement within the industry and now more again bringing in die each us which were incredibly excited about in. That was just announced on this past month on largely focused on creating registry around safe smart contracts so that users and customers that interface with can be more confident and reliable within the smart contracts that they're leveraging utilize utilizing a Let's go back to core. Would you say that is kind of the biggest win for the enterprise space and What what exactly is core. My i have a a little bit of understanding that it's was developed. I think initially by j. P. morgan chase and then Be behind consensus to do it and Now j. p. morgan chase Purchased that aspect of consensus. Are they working together. and corum is kind of a. It's a side chain to a theory where or is it. Is it a a completely separate based off of theorem blockchain. I wanna make sure. I do justice of this and i know that the consensus team and some others within the ea could even speak more intelligently and effectively to this but quorum is really built on like a is a private permission chain built on the enterprise etiam specification and so a number of organizations developed best practices around in enterprise etiam standard that could be trusted and relied upon within organizations and A number of these organizations where the kind of the genesis and the create creators of this and jp morgan was largely behind the creation. Corum early with In collaboration within members of the and notably consensus of course. And as of just over the last quarter i would say consensus acquired that in full and now is perjury even more closely with. Did you be more again arching team if you will Largely led by christine. Moy and the honesty in there and there's been a ton of exciting announcements relative to what their team is doing right now but Consensus has now brought in corum And what we're seeing within the industries who such a big movement Around utilizing obviously the public made net and many believe that that's the future will continue to collect you but what we're seeing is actual in live production. Instances we've seen the most modern work around enterprise right now and consensus has been a large driver behind that as well as a number of other organizations consensus driven that in a large way up to this point in time.
