Is Your Birth Name Your Super Power?

Parents carefully consider weigh and deliberate the choice of their newborn's name. These choices are influenced by sentiment, tradition, and spirituality. In Yoruba communities, babies are given a name describing the circumstances of their birth. In Western culture, newborns are given a first and middle name, sometimes just because it sounds pleasing, other times to carry a family name generationally forward. And when it comes to the patriarchy, names become a matter of capital. Quick cross -reference here on the social, cultural, and economic capital episode from season one. The name's become a matter of capital for its beneficiaries, a property right, a birthright, an asset as capital to buy, sell, or trade. Think of family dynasties and political and religious first families. To the patriarchy, a name, particularly the surname, is a marker that represents power and status. And that power and status is only conferred upon its primary and secondary beneficiaries. I read this really great article from The Wire called The Strange History of the Bastard in Medieval Europe. The article historically tracks the origin of the term bastard and suggests that the stigma of the term's original meaning comes not from a child being born out of wedlock, but from a child being born from a lineage lacking economic and social significance. In other words, the patriarchy assigns a person to their brand of social and legal implication through the lineage of their name. That patriarchy surname, well, it belongs to them to assign blessing or burden. But your birth name, that's a contract between you, God, and the parent or special person who God bestowed the honor upon to name you.

How many would they have to win before you say they're a dynasty everyone knows it's three Okay, I don't know what's going on. Everyone keeps on talking like oh This is you you into no, it doesn't matter if you get to the Super Bowl We went to eight straight AFC championships or something like that. Like you got to win three to get to be in Cowboys previous Patriots Niners Steelers It's not two. It's not two So tell me I want to get into your Fox gig and transitioning to meeting that since we're on it It's a good topic because I'm just curious because one of the things I'm looking at is someone who's scouting Over -unders to bet and and you know who's gonna win the AFC and stuff like that The I Motivation shouldn't say the motivation. I mean, I think the motivation is there even if you win But is it difficult or how difficult is it after winning two like they've won? It's very difficult To get geared up every Sunday, you know people don't realize How hard it is once you go out win a Super Bowl Okay, now they have two that when you win that first one you become a target everyone circles you on the schedule You win another one now everyone circling now now Divisions and conferences are designing their teams to beat you. So it gets harder and harder and as an individual player You know Your motivation you have to pull what what's motivating you because natural human instinct you're like You know, we got this we're good and then you know something happens you have injuries here an injury They're a player doesn't sign back because no two teams are the same. It's a new team every year. So it's very hard mentally To keep it going, you know And you have and they have a leader in Patrick Mahomes that can do that We had Tom Brady Tom Brady was always always on he was like he was always motivated So that gives you hope for the Kansas City Chiefs because they have such a great player and Patrick Mahomes who's their leader You know their best player is is their quarterback is their leader and the way he is is huge. Do you think? the intensity to beat the Chiefs to throne the Chiefs is Similar to what you guys experience and I ask you from this standpoint and I hope you don't take offense to this But I feel like I feel like the Chiefs are not hated in any way I'd feel like no one dislikes Mahomes No one dislikes Andy Reid you guys and I think it was mainly because of your success But there were people who didn't like Tom for whatever reason there was the ridiculousness with the flake eight the stupidest thing ever people didn't like Belichick, maybe You guys I don't think we're like Completely beloved whereas KC seems like I don't know who maybe people are sick of Travis Kelsey a little bit Like our teams you think is amped up to beat the Chiefs as they were you guys I Think the games changed the player has changed Just as an overall, I mean we look at games nowadays you got guys over here You know dapping up helping guys back back when we were playing the Jets when I first got in the league Bart Scott was mother -effing Billy O 'Brien on the sideline guys were fighting before, you know, it's just it's kind of changed And it could be for good or could be for bad. That's for weather for everyone else to determine But and also, you know, the Kansas City Chiefs that the Patriots were on it for 20 years Okay, like when I got there they already had three Super Bowls and they were on a little drought, you know But they were still winning, you know, they went 7 16 and oh they you know 14 win seasons they were still putting out big winning seasons for a long a longer time and You know the Chiefs just haven't been there I'm so I'm sure the Chiefs keep on doing well that people are gonna start hating them too, you know, yeah. Yeah The I want to get into some other stuff about the Patriots and and Belichick and Brady and but let's talk about you going to Fox you did inside the NFL. I enjoyed you on there I wrote that a couple times for SI. Now. You're gonna be on the Fox NFL kickoff show. It's remarkable I don't know if you've seen it Maybe you just know it off the top of your head because you friends with all these people but it is remarkable how every patriot is in media now is on TV, you know, you've got the McCordy's Gronk is part of the Fox family. Everyone knows about the Brady situation McGinnis the TV Bruschi It's like if you're on you were part of our Patriot team good love winners. Yeah people love winners Yeah, and they hate them so, you know you get a little bit of both They're either gonna love your hate you but they're gonna watch you It's like you had no choice but to go into TV basically after after all it's it's I don't know it's uh, You know when you play for an organization like New England and You've had the success that we had over the years that we played, you know It opens up a lot of doors and it's plain and simple. That's that's really what it is The the sacrifice and the efforts that we put into our career helped us after our career and a lot of guys you know, they have that hard work mentality that still want to stay in the game, but may not want to be coaches and And that's what media is, you know, that's what I feel. You know, I get my football fix by Going into a pre -production meeting and I haven't done it with Mike Vick or Charles Woodson or Chris and Thomas or Peter Shrager But you get your football locker room kind of vibe when you do those like when I was on inside the NFL I'm sitting there talking with Phil Simms Patrick, uh, you know, Brandon Marshall Michael Irving, Ray Lewis, James Brown and you have these These meetings where you just get to sit and talk football It's before you go on the lights are shining but you sit and you're talking stories You're breaking football down with people that play football So, I think that's a huge probably reason about it and you know, it's not you know We're used to putting in these crazy hours 14 -hour days Seven days a week don't get this year family and media, you know, like you got to do your homework You got to you got to watch all the games, but you know, we can still have a life outside of it, you know These guys are going coach. I mean people always ask me. Why aren't you in coaching and I go You know, I did my time Like I put my my 12 13 14 hour days in and when I would leave work I would see coaches families in the parking lot Seeing the coaches before they would go to bed because they still had another three hours. I ain't doing that Yeah, you know and then if you go somewhere else where it's not like that Then I'm mentally all messed up because well, there's some people that are doing it, you know So it's just I like I'm happy or I'm mad. I'm excited to go out and entertain and talk my knowledge When you were playing and you're playing days towards the end of your career Did you think you would get into TV or did you not think about it while you were playing? I Didn't necessarily think I'd become an analyst and do what I'm doing right now I always enjoyed creating content You know whether it was our YouTube videos our Instagram videos and all the content we build on J around je11 You know that was booming with with the Patriot nation that would always support, you know I always I found a niche in that and and I enjoyed that process of creating content going in and sitting in a you know in a editing room and and Filming up all this stuff and thinking it's gonna be terrible and then cutting it down and then you know having all your other team Because there's a team of people, you know That put put the work in to to get this good content out and I enjoyed it So I didn't know it was gonna be to the extent of what I'm doing right now but I knew you know, I was comfortable in front of a camera and you know, I know I faced for radio, but Thank God I won a lot of games Had it and just tell me were were there other networks like in the running to get your services Was it just Fox like I'd end up at Fox why Fox? Should Congress make Joe Biden king and Hunter Biden the prince of Wales? But it's a civics lesson. It talks about how the founders created a magnificent form of government. That is a check on power. And at the heart of it, you were just saying is the House of Representatives must approve and originate all funding. Now, this is something that the Republicans threw away decades ago. Newt Gingrich shut down the government and it blew up politically in his face. Ever since then, Republicans have just said, OK, well, we'll pretend that we don't like X, Y and Z. But if the Democrats insist on it and it becomes down to shutting down the government, we will surrender every time. We just want you to know that we've got the white flag hanging over our party head. Let me let me ask you, because maybe you can help me understand this. Why did that blow up when when Gingrich did it? This was early on in the 90s in the right. But it was it was in the Clinton Clinton administration in the beginning of the Clinton administration. Newt Gingrich was a heroic figure. Well, here's why. How did that blow up politically? Why did that blow up? Why did that backfire? Here's how it backfired. The Democrats got a bunch of old people with nothing else to do but call their congressman and said they're going to cut off your Social Security. And hundreds and thousands of phone calls came into Congress and the Republicans folded like a cheap tent. We have to be willing to say we will shut down the government and leave it shut. We will defund the FBI if you're going to use the FBI to send men with rifles to the homes of pro -lifers. You're going to use the FBI to persecute PTA moms who complain about pornography in the school library. If you're going to use the FBI as a KGB to protect the corrupt political dynasty of the president to cover up for his son's crack deals and foreign bribes, we would rather cut it off

The rest are with Hunter. 17 recordings of Biden agreeing to take a multimillion dollar bribe to fire the prosecutor in Ukraine from looking into his son's company. And the details are disturbing. So now we've got bribes. We got sex clubs. We got hookers. We got crack. We got shady business partners. We got communists. We got Chinese intelligence officials. "Now the head of his own media organization. It's called just the news dot com and he is of course our good friend John Solomon. John, welcome to America first one on one. Yeah, great to be with you. So I presume, given what you've done in your decades of work as a true journalist, as the author of most recently of this book, let's put it up on the screen so everybody can order it, fall out, nuclear bribes, Russian spies, and the Washington lies that enriched the Clinton and Biden dynasties. Yesterday's events didn't come as too much of a surprise to you, sadly. No, I think we've been inching towards this moment for 7 to ten years. The idea that we would create weaponize local prosecutors that George show us movement to get local prosecutors, fashioned in his own ideal ideology. The weaponization of federal law enforcement that we first saw with the Russia collusion case and continued. The ability to create false realities, which we saw throughout the 2020 election when intelligence community leaders like John Brennan told us that the Hunter Biden laptop was disinformation even though it wasn't. Or that one Hunter Biden had done in Ukraine was legit when it wasn't. And I think the ultimate evolution of that would be to get us into that kangaroo court sort of moment where a political score that should be resolved by American voters is instead inject it into the court system by a prosecutor who upgrades a misdemeanor to a felony 5 years after the statute of limitations had expired. I think Stalin and Lenin are looking going, wait, why didn't we think of that? And I think this moment has just been a slow train wreck unfolding in yesterday was the first crash moment.

Lord Conrad Black on Jeb Bush's Endorsement(?) of Ron DeSantis
"Perhaps we can start with this. A scion of one of the two political one of the two most powerful political dynasties in America, the Bush family. Jeb Bush made this endorsement at the weekend of president Trump's challenge at cut ten. Is this Ron DeSantis opportunity to run for higher office? I think it is. He's been a really effective governor. He's young. I think we're on the verge of a generational change in our politics. What kind of hope so I think it's time for a more forward leaning future oriented conversation in our politics as well. That was quite a hagiographic little interview with Jeb Bush, where he said, yes, yes, we need a new generation. Fascinatingly, lord black, early this morning, political, which is slightly beneath the gutter. Politico published the story that they had been emailed by the former governor Jeb Bush, who not quite a full retraction but stated, I did not endorse Ron DeSantis. I merely praised him. That reminds me of Mark Antony's speech at Caesar's burial. Isn't this peculiar presidential politics? I wouldn't want to mind read chip bush, but in fairness to him, I'd say two things. And look, he had a bruising battle and a completely unsuccessful battle with Donald Trump in 2016 for the Republican nomination. Anyone who followed it remembers what a shambles and a wreckage Trump made of the previously favored Jeb Bush campaign. He was thought by many to be the FrontRunner. And he was demolished. And he certainly vividly remembers the extreme antagonism of candidate Trump to the George W. Bush presidency, especially the Iraq War. I think it's fair to say president Trump's been generally much more respectful of the former prison bush, Jeb bush father. So he has that and I mean, whether one agrees with the Trump view or the bush view, I think we can all understand why Jeb Bush has his reservations about Trump

Are We Edging Toward a New Drug War?
"Had a piece this week. And this is what sparked my interest because they said, could we actually start to see real wars around these drugs? And they were referencing the drugs coming in from Mexico. And whether or not we talk about the war on drugs, whether it might actually lead to a real war, which brought me to that whole opium crisis back in the 18 60s, the two opium wars, in some ways, it's like this weird progression of history where we're kind of back where we started, but now the U.S. is on the receiving end of getting all this bad stuff into the country, which the Chinese, according to the DEA, have a hand in by supplying Mexico with these poisonous drugs with these drugs that are killing so many Americans. And so like the Qing dynasty in Beijing in the 1800s, Washington can't stop it. I should at least point out that at least the Shang dynasty actually tried to. I'm not convinced the Biden administration really has any interest this week we're getting a little bit more lip service out of both sides. They seem to be suggesting that it is a problem that they can work on together. I don't buy it. You know the vice president of the United States assigned to manage our border crisis, won't even actually really go there. Because reality has been so distorted, distorted by a leftist. And we have some very striking and remarkable lines, very memorable. And he says, I see the fleur de lis enter alania. So what's the Florida Lee? The symbol of France, the flirted leave. So I see the Florida Lee, his own descendants, by the way, now ruling France enter alania, a town in Italy. So the French troops are invading Italy.
