Gabrielle Union Opens Up About Dwyane Wade Fathering Baby With Another Woman

"Union gets real about why she stayed with dwayne wade after he father a child with another woman before they were married. She says the me up today would not have stayed with him. But would i be who. I am without the pain. I remember a small voice in my heart telling myself to leave but my fear of public humiliation was so great that i didn't take my own advice. Gabriel dwayne seemed to be strong now. But what do you think it took to get to that place. First of all let me just point something out before we even get to that point. If you're a woman and all you've ever wanted your whole life was to have a baby with the man that you loved in your body just not wouldn't let you do it and then that person turned around and gave that gift to someone else that wasn't you. It's an reading. Her first book won't need more wine. You have to. You have to read this book. This part of the book was actually left out this story. This narrative was left out of that book but she talked about her attempts to get pregnant. and how about. So it's just crazy but amazing that she's opening up about this now. I think it's also probably. She feels at peace with it. I think she's done a lot of work. I think she's recognized a lot about the situation and i also feel like the one thing i do want just on one little nugget for dwayne. Say we're not together is they. He wasn't that you know he turned around and gave this gift to somebody else. When they were at an item they had hit a rough patch in their relationship. You're right you're absolutely right. And it was in a very unfortunate thing that happened. I mean a child is always blessing. They're so fun even when you wanna yak on live. Tv they're front. And i think this took a lot of work a lot of work to get to a place where they felt like they could be the couple that they are

"This day and just like the wayne said give credit to the errors and family the rally family for their work their vision and really just the belief that they put in like. It's an organisational thing you believe you can win. You can actually do it. And that's what it's all about so we know that they're going to be aggressive any situation they can but like the said again only when is right and sometimes when his right is really right and they'll be right back in the mix that last year we saw that with the two of you in fact during the break when we were all like lining up on the screen. Here dwayne was like chris. This feels like two thousand ten when we were announcing who was going. I gotta ask you back about that guys. Look i mean when you guys were back and you ended up of course in lebron with miami before you got there. There was the chance that you both might have gone to chicago. So we've talked plenty about the heat side of things. But i want to dig back to the chicago side of things. What do you think would have happened. If you guys that decided in the end to all be together instead of miami players together i will say this you think you have things made up in your mind right but when i went into the to the pitch which chicago it was it was an excellent pitch. It was really really good. I was going to feel the way i was going to feel right. That was in the house that jordan bill. So i'm just is. It was all there. And like i tell people all the time. That was the pressure that they were putting on me so they said if you come to wayne lebron is gonna so you need to make a decision. That was my pressure and they were put like you know me. Dwayne de rose all day. Thanks okinawa pretty good team. It was it was just one of those psychological things that the that the teams was thrown out. There in chicago is no different. Yeah to add to that. The knicks Every team that was in the in the in the inner runnings in two thousand ten only break into star players. and so. he's acog. Oh it was going to be a race to do this. Kristen media chris o'brian. It wasn't be all through. Miami was the only team that that that made sure to put themselves in the position that all groups can come in. Maybe we had to take mess.

I don't want to take any credit for his performance any credit for his success. I just want to be able to add things that i learned from game of basketball. Be able to plant that on helmet. "And he was exactly the kind of star jazz. Need because the question. Everyone's had about the judges who they come across these fearsome switching defenses. Do they have a guy who can get buckets. Want even though he did that to carmelo anthony rookie year in the playoffs. One on one marcus. Morris toasted luke kennard aviv zoo bots. That was a problem. He got buckets on everyone. Who is exactly the player. Utah needed all right here. We go well no. I was surprised he had. I mean he didn't prove nothing to me because watching them last year and the bubble we already knew he was a superstar right when he went toe to toe with murray last year. So this doesn't surprise me everytime when it matters the most this young man rises to the cajun and great fashion so last night with his show me even more that he's a killer okay because he's on. The floor are guarded by paul. George kowa linda patrick beverley in the first half and then they tried to run down him and all of a sudden he cook. Luke kuhn down the stretch. I mean he's especially young talent. He's a superstar and he's everything that the utah jazz need on the clippers side. Look they had a thirteen point. Lead at halftime perk. Is there any concern a. Should take from game one. what would it be. You know it. I i i like to just that tie. Lue win with to start the game when he was small. He started marcus morris at the five and then all of a sudden in the second half. I didn't like it so much. I thought zoo box. Start anchoring their defense. He was huge in the middle of the way he was blocking shots and i thought that he should have been in late in the fourth quarter to protect the pain. We saw the tape with donovan mitchell. Driving to the cook get no scoop layoffs with the right hand with ease right but then another takeaway did. I got his paul. George made my first team. All he is who he is right hockey. Wait for paul. George to take that level to superstardom and show up in the big moment to have a forty point to bowl to deliver for the clippers. But he hasn't right you you go back and look at game. Six against the marriage he sought. What six fifteen game. Seven against the mavericks five fifteen.

"Keeping momentum as you head down the stretch. Momentum starts with movement. It's pulled from the air like a contested. Rebound momentum builds with steals and fast breaks and is proven by deep threes as the shot clock expires momentum. This how we changed the game and now it's time to discover where it can take us. Goodyear more driven trump. I'm already cheese. I'm going to get to this I will i get to our nba. Champ richard jefferson our mba champa kendrick perkins. Who was glowing. Do you see that. Sort of a theory of light around him today. That'll conway and the host of the low post podcasts. Dakhla with us as well not quite the same theory late here in the studio. But we're working on it. Yes dwayne wade. And chris bosh also are going to be with us later in the show. We are packed today. I though in theory in the nba knows just how much tougher things get in the playoffs. The pressure rises rotations. Shrink that room you had and the regular season to unleash your three ball. That's gone and the opposing team's coaches have looked at so much film review. They now know you better than your own mother. But it's one thing to be aware of all that and another to face it and you can't really tell unless you're out there whether you're going to wilt under the spotlights or handle your business or if you're one of the even more rare few who can actually raise their game when it's the absolute toughest out there. I think by this point. We have a pretty good conformation of which category donovan mitchell falls into. He was tremendous last year in the bubble. And now this postseason well. It's easy to see. Why the judge haven't lost a game with him in the lineup. Even when he starts slow like he did last night against the clippers. It's hard not to feel like there's more coming and that's just my opinion. It is apparently donovan's to when mitchell.

We watson and who are next opponent is going to be. They'd be chicago is a big thing. he like. Celebrate t shirt. You got the whole day right. And it was a big moment for them so we get and then the krause dogma for you guys you know. We won't he so we turned to you. They got go make this quick look know how bad you gotta be to the second. But his first of all it's just bad. Look you get the draw of shock me early. Prime you get lebron couple ties player. You just got a bad drawl. Sometimes it's imagine hanging around that full five areas the roadways. The me fighting about that too is this was before social media like that might be in a story or might be a comment in a post and back then. It was like they had to go through. A newspaper. might have heard on the radio that you might to into right now. You could just go out a guy. Oh he said that to me on your instincts. Yeah you can come in. Pick it up the whole thing. Oh yeah this would have happened in the social media era. I don't think it would have been as bad one because now it's in and out in and out. You know we re something someone china and someone else chimed in and you'd be like oh i got him. You wanna laugh should is now you can you got more. That's what i say like. I'm glad it wasn't around. But i learned my lesson. I learned. that's what i said. I learned my lesson early and was i. Yea nine nickleby doing because i remember when Shine lebron wedding will work out twelve. Yeah now felt that certain things. You just can't go wet. Where did you get to western where you signed with them. Oh so you don't even know that story. My free agent story free agency. So i'm the second i'm not. I'm second esso's lamar odom me right. Okay yeah we don't even three so all three three. We don't care who's coming in. So i'm waiting for andrea andrea miller's win and andrea miller and he writes a sign so wherever he plateaued at. I know i was above that. Lamar odom was weighing on me. Because you know he was above me so the teams were. It was denver. Utah miami clippers washington right. So they're trying to get him back to miami. So miami cuban roots this and this and it was like are we just drafted. We can push all at the one and a two. So i was like okay. Who's going to be the one who's going to and it was like we really want to try him at the point to see how it works. And we don't know if you're worth the max because at that time i was max max max max. I'm trying to see how high and really get but the offers for the two. So i'm over here. Max seventy seventy whatever that is i want so they were like you know we already got the way and we got a guard. We would love to have you both boat. Pat riley doesn't pay. He doesn't believe in young players paying players. And i'm like all right. Oh so. I had miami than i had clippers and then what ended up happening. Is brian russell. Brian ross. Up out of his deal and salary cap went up so washington offered sixty six. So don't the more elite s win. So after i went. Then that's when the marlins. Oh i did. Sixty was sixty four. I think he did. What sixty eight. Yeah he was supposed to seventy because we sino sixty bumping off. He was some around there. Yeah we elo. And i was like mean coming in on my dale. Elo supposed to meet you cut you just like we did. And what if he had come to. Miami i i mean the league wouldn't have been ready for like like outed it makes sense right like you got to dynamic ours that time it was all you need to big the guard. I mean you need so deleted have been ready for. I don't even know of miami. Would've been ready for it but if they would've figured it out it'd been dynamic. Of course i mean we both were downhill play like we get you going down here. It is a wrap for you in so see. I just went through two seasons of looking at the shooting guard. Does everyone just seen jason. Richardson go to shooting guard trauma with what i'm talking about. Yeah it was we. I got into lead. Ooh had michael. Michael finley averaged four games. He averaged forty And then like. I'm watching him. Go against wasn't aim for michael finley. Then he went to vince. Carter then went to ray allen right but muslim busted and then this said you know what. I'm going to the point guard position. 'cause i don't want no parts of this. We will we go. Play st francis and casino. A channel gives them thirty. Casino was a bucket. But right you don't know that part of the top garzon you you'll you'll s leaving katina in what you look at jerusalem. We haven't even against at koby. Ci mac and wu all this by yourself. I'm going to that one. So i'm trying to learn how to be the point so that was the thing they were like. Well we're going to try out of the point. I'm not wanted it to. And that's what happened in denver automate side andrea melinda point. I'm not. I'm not going to that. No i am not artem kobe's in because he just wanted to go out there and score. Yes yeah he was honest. Hundred million good smart. That's very smart.

"You know it's interesting Jordan with Dwyane Wade it's one thing to watch mint mark cat watching have a terrific career in the NBA but some of the Kobe in a certain way we're learning more more about Dwyane Wade the person the than the course a story about his son's decision his decision to transition that is very interesting to me that how Wade and his wife are working with their son for this it just shows you the kind of the of the depth of Dwyane Wade more than a basketball player a family person that is trying to understand trying to educate people and right when I talk to people around the league about Dwyane Wade it's unbelievable how synonymous he is out with the word inspiration greatness humility these are the types of words that are constantly brought up with twenty and I think he's someone that constantly reinvented himself as well you know if you think about how great he was when they beat the mavs in the mid two thousands and that he was becoming the face of the lead well when Jack came and then when lebron came later he Dwayne was not only was he comfortable with deferring and when the Braun came really saying okay this is your team now but he embraced the role and and he helped provide a template and a foundation a blueprint of here's what it takes to be successful in Miami here's how you can get the keys to the city here's how you can inspire people on and off the floor away from the game as well to your point hoodie and I think it's it's a wonderful testament to Duane his career and the fact that he's touched so many people in Miami he is really really truly special yeah when I when I think about doing Wade I can't help but think about Kobe's passing not not that you know I expect anything like that from late but in the sense that I believe it we thought he did things before retiring I believe that he's going to be even more special I mean who hasn't Kobe you know in his unfortunate passing inspired but I believe that Dwayne Wade another fellow star shooting guard on the you know mount Rushmore you we talked about earlier has the opportunity to really really explode past basketball we're starting to see that and I know from even a commentating standpoint you know the networks was salivating at the chance for doing way to come around but you know I love that delaying and Colby had taken this really big brother mentorship role so the players in the league now I wasn't used to seeing that from Michael Jordan in you know magic it was good at reaching out but it wasn't you know we live in a different era we're doing we can tweet immediately after a situation occurs we think about him you know there's no lebron James without them anyway I don't care how you want to spin it guys how ever you want to spend it so I think just his legacy it is it's just something different and for a guy who you know technically you can say it wasn't supposed to be there doing wait wasn't you know this celebrated you know parade all American yeah along with Jordan Shelton Ryan Hollins job at it with your MBA at signers on ESPN radio some thoughts from Dwyane Wade I'll talk about Kobe Bryant the tribute to Kobe Bryant in this final message as he had his number retired at wake county the.

"Mean that she's loved this project. I'm sorry oddly. The bunny saw hustler. Because I saw that bunny at premier. Did I think in two thousand twenty? We'd be saying that the backstreet boys were involved in engagement scandal. No but here we are. I thought so. I'm looking back at my old predictions when I when I said I always said this was going to happen so Maggie. We had a story that was exclusively reported by our own. Ali Coleman six that when the backstreet boys run Good Morning America on Tuesday morning backstreet boys saying on the show. I'll never break your heart. Are you familiar with that tune? I am. You are Could you know okay? We don't have music rights on this podcast streets licensing at the song's climax. I'll never break your heart up panel on. The set moved Maggie to dramatically. Reveal this who can. There was a panel. That moved and a guy came out from behind the panel any proposed to his girlfriend who the backstreet boys brought up on stage. There was like a small studio audience. They brought her up on stage. Panel Moves Zip rings out. We can't afford sound effects on this show so I really so dude appears backstreet. Boys bring this woman on stage. He drops to one knee and proposes to his girlfriend whose backstreet boys superfan very romantic very good morning. America melting. America'S HEARTS. There's only one problem with this scenario. Maggie. Yes your rap on the edge of my on the edge of your seat. It turns out that the same couple some viewers noticed. There's like four million viewers a day pretty much out of like the four million viewers. A whole bunch of them realized that this couple has been very publicly engaged before the audacity to do that to America exactly and apparently the couple are. They're both sort of rising stars in the Democratic Party locally Brooklyn very low. Where you're from from my borough but back in twenty seventeen. The same dude proposed popped the question at a Christmas tree. Lighting ceremony hosted by a Brooklyn Democratic politician. Where a mayor de Blasio was there to congratulate them. Apparently they I think they even got a picture with Mayor de Blasios back at the time so after this aired on gm a basically a bunch of GM as super fans different people came out and were like. Hey wait a minute. These guys did the same thing back in twenty seventeen. They're like hawking up all these public proposals An apparently this whole thing got started because there was on a backstreet boys superfan site. There was a notice posting which had said. Hey we're looking for some people who are willing to get engaged on Good Morning America. And it didn't specifically say the backstreet boys would be there but had hinted at their at it saying like our favorite fab five. Who else could that be and and should have done better research right but it turns out that a source told Ali that they had split up they had split up apparently at some point in two thousand nineteen and insider said they split up in May of Twenty nineteen but they had save the date cards printed up in November of two thousand nineteen. And now here. They were getting engaged again very suspicious. What do you think about this? I think it's very suspicious and to do that. To the hearts of backstreet boys fans across America. Come on quit playing games with our hearts. He used the same ring both times. Oh so well. That's you'd think if you were trying to know buried delete on this one provide a bit of a red herring. You wouldn't use the same ring because on facebook. This very excited new fiancee. The first time she got engaged posted a photo of her hand. And the beautiful ring Right so after our own. Ali Coleman had Filed this story right. You and your team were like going through digging around digging around Social Media Post there was a trail there and you found that they had the same ring yet. I think that's actually a smart move. I mean what are you GonNa? Do you get a whole new ring. Maybe she. I mean you broke up you call it off. You got back together. Maybe want to start with something. Fresh interesting you know. I don't know this is a good one. I I'd love to hear people's opinions about that thing anyway. I should mention that the couple themselves either. One of them didn't get back to us. One of them couldn't be reached. But even more to the point Maggie. The backstreet boys have not weighed in on this controversy. Maybe getting engaged at a Christmas tree. Lighting wasn't up to par for this couple right. She was like I wanted that way. Gm well that's it for this episode of we hear our show is produced by Jamila a Raw Williams and Melissa Kassa Sarah's We'd love.

"Dwyane Wade when other uniform lebron once where all the uniforms I think every indication is that this is coming to an end the only question is is it coming to an end this week or next week this week during the patriots are playing a team that I just told you for the year it's gonna be pagers the Titans of the postseason who's gonna win unanimously say the patriots but on paper and I know the game is never played on paper and doing a loves people play the games on paper because they love proving the doubters wrong along the way I'm paper right Danielle has been a way way better quarterback than Tom Brady I know you're laughing in your cars drive around this great country of ours on a football playoff football Saturday the first we get I know you're laughing what do we talk about at the week Brian tell what better than Tom Brady the best quarterback we've ever seen in the playoffs maybe the best quarterback we've ever seen me in about maybe the best player we've ever seen the NFL and yeah Mike Rabal the pupil is going to be bill Belichick like there's no way right and it is a four and a half point spread Vegas seems semi confident that the patriots are gonna do what they always do at Foxboro and that is when and they have one of the ugliest of ways come January in that stadium how you gonna doubt how you gonna pick against them can you tell me for sure the patriots are gonna be able to stop their cannery can you the positive about that are you positive that the patriots even with that strong secondary although they they relented in recent weeks are you positive they're gonna stop the big and I mean big passing game the down the field attack all the Tennessee Titans this is set up for a fascinating nightcap and I know all of us are saying how can you possibly see the patriots losing in the wild card weekend just doesn't seem to me like a patriot team that even expects to win it all this year they haven't exuded that same confidence they have it you heard Tom Brady after these games admitting how bad he's been how bad the offense has been you see them yelling and everybody on offense the entire year you've seen Josh McDaniels having to resort to the highest levels of trickery and smoke and mirrors to try to move the football for simple first downs not the patriots and while I can't get up here my high horse and say the patriots are gonna lose today and it's over today I can definitely for me say they're gonna lose in the next two weeks it's either today or next week it's coming to an end and I want to hear from patriots fans state your case make a case that you take take a gonna run or that this dynasty is not coming to an end prematurely eight five five two one two four two two seven that's for CBS coming up a little bit later on in thirty five minutes Chris Brown bills insider he's on the box taking the bus to the game today just after four o'clock four thirty five bills and Texans in Houston he'll give us a preview of that game and a little bit later on they wanna talk playoff expansion in college they wanna talk plant expansion in the NFL but I'm gonna tell you why wild card weekend tells me neither should grow we'll get all that straight ahead the.

"It's the only thing. People are paying attention to capitalize one of my favorite segments called the ludlow down. That's right well. This week you were at home drinking really nice wine that you provide for your family correct. You're the Wyoming. Yes you were in charge of the wine so I was on the road but I don't think those stories will be as interesting widely they might. We might have three things this it might be so instead. We're going to go with our favorite moments thus far from this NBA season through through October and November. We've got two months in the can now behind us our favorite things right. What's your favorite player to watch? Thus far this season in the season you and I feel like a lot of people aren't talking about him because the only conversations surrounding him was how he'll fit in and will he make the team better or or worse and you're smiling right now because I'm talking about Russell Westbrook and given I am a Russell Westbrook apologised anyone who knows me anyone who follows. My work knows knows how much I love. Russell Westbrook knows how much I love. His game knows how much I love. His attitude knows how much I love a swag. But he's quietly averaging twenty two eight and seven seven and the Houston Rockets are fifth in the Western Conference and because James Harden has been as incredible as he's been thus far this season. We're not talking a lot about Russ and I. I love having him just watching him. Have such a quietly good season thus far I like Russ I like a lot and I do love the addition to Houston because did a lot but the impact that he's making I mean I think it's fun to watch him down the court in three seconds and I love seeing him play really healthy. I think last year we didn't get to see Russ because he wasn't as healthy as as you've liked but you know I'm GonNa go with the crazy right now. I'm going to fall into that trap in say Luca Donncha. I knew it. I mean what's not the low almost said Luke thought she's going to say I've got to go. I try good job. I look good just from the simple fact that it's taken him one year. I mean we saw the signs last year that he was going to be a huge the player but the jump that he's made this year in that he is just dominant. I mean you watch the Games and you see how under control I mean. Yeah we can talk about the numbers averaging thirty point triple double through span at ten games We can go into all the facts but for me as a fan just to watch. This is guy that people questioned whether he was going to be athletic. Enough of his body was going to be right by this year that he needed to lose weight and he's gone from. I'm being named rookie of the year last year to now being possibly top five in the league superstar doubtedly star in his sophomore season. Exactly I had a feeling you were going to pick Luca. Let's move onto our favorite team to watch. You can go I. I would say the Lakers have been fun to watch just being in La and just watching the the comeback for Lebron because in a seventeen season a lot of people doubted him after last year. You know he had injuries and the first time in a very long time. He didn't make the playoffs. which was unheard of in lebrons career? was He washed was done. I don't know if everybody said the things that he's tweeting about right now. Yeah maybe over over exaggerating a little bit. He even if it's whether it's real or perceived needs to create a a reason into stay motivated at the highest level exactly about how many seasons he's had to find a motivating factor to be the best in the NBA again and now. We're watching some of his very best basketball. I mean in the way that he's scoring the way he's facilitating. I mean he's playing defense this year which I think has been the biggest jump in something. That is exciting citing to watch. I mean when Anthony Davis and Lebron and the rest of the Lakers play defense. You're able to see them get out in transition which is like poetry in motion. If you you ask me. I mean just the amount of weapons that they have on that team. If I were to choose a favorite team to watch thus far this season I've got to go eastern conference because given I know that to do this job job well I have to stay up late and watch those Western Conference Games but also to do this job. Well I have to go to sleep sometimes so I'm not watching. All of these Lakers and clippers ars games in their entirety. However I've watched a handful of the Miami Heat Games and I know you're smiling because we're talking about Dwayne Wade and talking to Dwayne? Wait about what he accomplished in that number. Three Jersey in Miami and. I don't think that they've been as excited about basketball since he retired since Lebron left since Chris spa was forced to as well and for the first time again. We're watching. That fan base be revitalized and be excited again about some of these younger players. And it's not just Jimmy Butler and I knew that Jimmy Butler would be great down there. I thought he'd be the perfect fit because of his emphasis on his fitness. And because of the kind of just hard-nosed Kinda guy kind of player that he is at because the heat franchise always seems to encourage that but also these young guys like tyler hero who are so fun and so exciting to watch Kendrick Nunn who came out of nowhere in his first handful of games made. NBA history with the numbers that he was putting up so I think a team like that has my attention in right now I would agree. I like the Miami Heat and it's nice place to go watch game so if we could get some more also until usually plugging them. I'm available She's okay with going to south beach points. He wants to go. I talents to sell your take your towns. What's your what's your favorite moment? Oh man thus far there have been a lot of good moments of the NBA season thus far and while we're talking about whether or not people are watching I think people are grasping onto some of these moments that are being captured just in these few second clips ups but over several minutes of one of the most recent Games Klay Thompson somehow did a job that I've been training to do for the last decade. which is you know? Be a sideline sideline reporter on national television. He did it better. I mean his first try he was so good he was so entertaining he was so influenced clay without a doubt. He's so entirely himself and I watched that not only feeling like you know what I love the sky on the court and off the court I love this guy also the left watching it feeling a little bit challenge like he's that good at that job because he's.

"I I think though the most important now title of his on his resume is our TNT teammate. And longer than most important number three on yeah. We're GONNA have to talk about that introduce I thanks so much for joining us on the podcasts guys. Hey y'all oh okay you were retired quote unquote retired for less than one full season before coming back to work fulltime with US my first skin why. Is An amazing team That I'm able to join so I thought I'll get to it sooner than later means to be able to be a part of this new. TNT families or something. I couldn't pass up. Born is unbelievable opportunity. You know candidate no. I reached out to her right away and I was like give me all the dirt. Let me know what's going on over there She had nothing but great things to say. So just a great opportunity for me to stay around the game Giving out the house a little bit but just continue. Continue my my path. Well we're really excited to have you as a teammate. Obviously I used to be a part of this. But there's one thing that mean you have to settle real quick. Because I know we're we're both so I did some digging Dion Sanders when he you went to Dallas for the first time you know a guy who wanted his teammates had his number Bryce had his numbers number twenty one and he bought Bryce car. Are you know in exchange for his number so just so you know I can be bought. You can have the number three I is that it's up. It's up for sale. I mean long might the number three is going up in a row through the way so it it leaving. I don't want to spend any more money on that numbers leasing. Let's see now when I signed on to be part of this team I had to audition and then cross my fingers that maybe I would be called back. You obviously were brought into the building As they're playing the Marquette fight song so fight song for me. I had to just hope that. Perhaps they'd let me in the building again but did that have anything to do with swaying your decision. Wade so I get off the elevator and I hear a familiar song and I'm like what is that and I really really don't. It really doesn't like come to me right away. What it is it takes me a few steps into like seeing all the TV that say welcome doing way? I'm like wait a minute like I'm I'm being pitched right. Recruited yes. This is also being recruited an official visit. Yeah upper like you know. It's been a long time to someone really opened the doors for. Oh Gosh so it's so good but to have your hand in so many projects outside of the game of basketball ask about what was it that made you decide to want to be a basketball analyst weekend and week out. Well I think that when it comes to basketball like I said right I mean if there's anything I know my eyes closed it's the game basketball I and I'm analyst at home all the time with my friends and family So to be able to come in and join other great. You know the share the same passion for the game of basketball that I share To be able to bounce off in and you know and and use each other's ideas and just kind of like the locker room what you in there and you just kind of vibe and with your teammates and they're getting the best out of you and bringing the best out of you so They were definitely something that. I didn't think that I wanted to do especially this soon. But you know sitting down with the family and thin down and seeing just overall how big of a brand at the Warner media family is and other things that I can tap into it. Really come up on well. I was really excited. When you made your announcement? They did a banana in a boat. Meam of all of us on the banana boats. I'm very excited to be be on this boat. You know with with you in January but there's another guy that that is definitely on the boat in that shot. Yeah he's going to sink yacht. We definitely yacht. ooh For that but you know obviously me and you we go way back and shot out delayed kristen he. When I was in college you know D. Wade Sidekick was lake AAC? You're it if you had the I got hooked up with the D. Wade Sidekick. I don't have any rules with that but I got aside so I might just told them myself on on air but I gotTA side kick. It was unbelievable so debate and I go way back just always been just genuine nice guy and the same thing with with shack so can can you share. Maybe your first meeting with shack and how you got to be so close. Yeah shot got traded to Miami at my rookie year and I remember where I was when he got traded I was I was in. La For X.. espy awards it and I remember walking the red carpet and I hear them saying Shaquille O'Neal new teammate. Of the Miami Heat Anyway and like people started screaming and stuff I was like. Oh I like this. Nobody really knew me like that. But you know when I got back to Miami and I got opportunity. Sit Down with Shag. We had a very candid conversation. Sation about the expectations of our team. You know sat came in. I promise championship right away and we sit down and discuss what that means what that looks like like you know what what is going to be needed for me and him In the biggest thing was like we gotta be on the same page you know whatever happened in La with you know. Kobe myself. Some that cannot happen here. I think shocked understood that he was getting older and he'd seen something he wanted to be able to help. Bring that out I was very shy. I enquired but he thinks I'm from my basketball times. He wanted to bring it out and he gave me the confidence in that first meeting. That's exactly what he's going to do because he said I'm going to make you the best shooting guard you know. One of the best guards ever played this game And he gave me the confidence to go out there and just be myself so it was it was a dope meat and it was so cool to be able to sit down with wanted to gangs great and talk about like we're about to play together and hopefully GonNa win championships together and so far so and so has he given any similar advice or confidence coming into this role roll on TNT. No I ain't I ain't got nothing. I'm like oh I got to figure it out. Backpacks expect donuts the first day. Hey Kristie creams. It's the twenty eighth of January. I'm walking in to bring. That's we'll have your backpack ready. It'll be perfect. Listen I'm I'm new. I'm just here to learn you know I'm just. I'm just here to to do. I need to take a let me take. It SARS the coat without a doubt though. We joke that your most important role now is our TNT teammate. But your most important role over and over you said I'm a father author I and everything else. After that first and foremost what's been the biggest difference in fatherhood since leaving the game and being at home so much more often with it's actually It's actually been great for me. You know I've been able to be a little bit more in tune to my kids everyday life. You know the the game about the ball is amazing. Take so many places but one thing it did take me. It took me away from you. Know being able to be there for the small moments and not just the big on. So I'm definitely enjoying you know being involved I was walking. I was walking my twelve year old to the car the other day like all the way into the car and and I was like Dad. Got It like you don't have to like stop me in like I'm I'm a big grown now but I got really like trying to get back to like some of the things I missed and I want to let them know. Daily that You know that I'm here for them And I WANNA be is much I wanNA. That'd be as much as I can be. I want to be involved in their lives and So it's been cool you know I've been able to learn them in a different way. See them in a different light. Alanon love him even more now. Well you know I have to admit I am one of your daughters million followers saying instagram. This hash is one of my favorite equal on instagram and the quotes that urine Gabby put on there and just her expressions. She's beautiful and I just. I just love you guys as a family just seeing your everyday already such a personality the personality her with the basketball and she fell down. I I mean I like you bring the light so many things that you know athletes love to do with their children and I just really enjoy seeing that. So how has it been. I mean. She's she's kind of a big deal deal now. She's got a million followers one years old. Well first of all I can't take credit for none of the social media stuff. Only I can take credit cards or face in favor. I yes undoubted. Her mother is the one that writes all the capsules. Like it's a full time job you you know like now. It's to the point where I think my wife is like we need higher like a writer for her social media because people won't content like they won't say baby it'd be content day So it'd be become a full time job but overall I mean you guys. Are you know me and my wife went through this alone journey to get to to this place and and you know we have the exact baby that we pray for. I mean she's funny. She's tough. She's athletic she you know she's a tomboy like see the combination of both of us together and we just enjoying it so you don't be cross up. She was laughing ready for in having fun with it. You know and you went on a very public journey to have her. You live a very public life and you're always very open with the public as well all chosen to publicly stand by your kids even when there's a lot of public criticism why is it important for you to set that kind of example well You know I I let my kids know at least until they get older and they take over but you know I take my role as the leader in his family very seriously and for me. You don't parent all your kids with you. Know one booklet one tablet. That says this is how you parents you gotta get to know your kids each and every last one of them and you pair them Where they and you treat them how they should be treated? So I don't treat you know Zion the same Zaire because Zaire like ex-basketball like me so that means that I gotta treat die in the same way. That's not how it worked so for me. Is I sit down and talk to my kids asked. And what they won't saw with the knees are how can I help them get to that. How can I help them become better and is this the support thing for me? You know I'm just here. That's it my role in their lives as a parent is to help them navigate through this world and give them the nuggets along the way. Give them the love and support alone away but it is not to change them who they are It's to bring out who they are and feel loved and supported by..

"You know so silhouette progress. There's word if his career though without a title do you think he'll be mentioned among those greats forever as he said there's always going to be an Asterik. Did I say that word right. I always struggle with Asterik asterisk. asterisk thank you. I think it's the proper way to say. Everyone says Astro Astro. I'm going to be me. There's always going to be an asterisk. asterisk nailed it by James Harden name. If he doesn't win a champion do you think a title. Yes because I think I think there's always you know this elite group and then there's others but where I put into question are are those that are champions but later in their career meaning they jumped on somebody else's will that help him be in that elite. I think it will though because the narrative we've created is that championships are most important. It's not about the numbers that you put up. Think about some of the most prolific scorers some of the best players in NBA. Be a history. A couple of our co workers included. Charles Barkley Reggie Miller. I mean talk about a prolific scorer. Talk about one of the best players. NBA History. Do you think that they're counted among that same group because they're not champions but would we have counted them among that group if later on in their career they hopped on a team that that's not the part that people remember remember people only remember that you're an NBA champion but see. That's my problem because I think that there's a difference between winning championships and being a part of winning championships. So you think that James needs to win one at the height of his career. When he's at the helm when he's looked to to carry the weight? Offensively I think. So you know you look at Oscar Robertson. He won one when he got to Milwaukee with Kareem. I don't know if he won in the height of his career but he's known as an NBA champion. And I'm just wondering because for me. I think that there's different ways. There's varying ways to win a championship and you know. If we're we're judging people based on rings it should be earned right not given wasn't that somebody's slogan it was at if it wasn't it should it could be hours i. I just think that there's a way to earn your rings and you earn them by winning in the height of your career and if you're that type of player winning winning it when you're you know number one number two option think though about the way that the narrative shifts surrounding a player based on championships or lack thereof when you think of a player like Robert Ory who has won five championships with different teams and his clutch gene. I mean he's hit a number of huge shots for his franchise but he's not in the list of clutch players right when we talk about clutch players we talk about guys perhaps like Reggie Miller. Who didn't win a championship? But who's known for showing up in those moments and so I think they're two different conversations that we're having but at the same time there's so much that goes into winning a championship kinship. If it was just an individual thing Alan Iverson would have six or seven rings at this point dinner. We wrong for placing so much emphasis on championships when the League it has long been defined by dynasties when there are a number of players who don't have championships because the Chicago Bulls were that good during that decade or a number of players. Who will retire today? That won't have ring because the Golden State Warriors and Lebron James were that good why would I would like to take it even a step farther. I mean there's dynasties there's greatness yes there's a lot of people that were prevented from getting a championship ring. I mean you look at the Jazz Utah. Jazz with Stockton Malone. I mean they go down as one of the greatest duos. They didn't win a championship. There's ownership leadership there's trades. There's things that all have to work in your favor. We think of Michael Jordan winning six but how many plays as it came down to one or two possessions and so an entire career is defined based on Kyri hitting shot when we talk about Lebron in the same breath in the same way we do right now. Maybe if Kyrie doesn't hit that shot let's say dream on doesn't get kicked out of game four and he plays and let's say golden state sweeps or get. They only won one game in that series. Are we mentioning him in the same way a lot about that so much criticism surrounding your career in the first. How many seasons wasn't until you wanted to hear it for nearly a decade that you couldn't be in that conversation station of the greatest to play in the women's game until you WanNa Championship and in some ways I think it's valid and in other ways? There's so much more than just what you're putting in on the court. There's your ownership. Everybody's got to be cohesive so many things have to break in your favor. Then maybe it's time that we start shifting the narrative James Harden has proven in the regular season. He's one of the most dominant players ever but in the playoffs. When teams are able to make adjustments? You know the rockets you have to do the same. The stakes are higher one guy though who consistently showed up when the stakes were the highest call. James Harden a certified bucket..

"Time for. That's what we said. I will handle it with dignity and class. You certainly messed up a lot more than I did. And I think all of us just want to leave the league better than payments and. That's what we said that's what we said we. That's what we said. Ah We're getting better we every week by week. Congress Anthony Davis returned to New Orleans. kyrie irving returned to Boston this past week. A couple of stars went to their old cities Ah Welcome home. Was I think anything but cordial anything but friendly. Anyway what did you expect. Yeah Eighty boot New Orleans but he scored scorched forty-one. Kyrie didn't even play in his return to Boston but he was somehow still the headline of the game but it turns out that Marcus smart is kind of tired of hearing about him quite frankly. Frankly I'm I'm really honestly tired of hearing about Caray Curry's noble with the Boston Celtics and there's a slab across everybody on the team. That's here now to keep hearing Kari's name because every last one of these guys put in the work and we continue to put into work in. We're here we're still competing but yeah everybody including the Boston Fans WanNa talk about Kore- are-. Let's talk about Boston tomorrow point. It hasn't just been because of Kyrie's return or lack there up to Boston. It's been all season. Long that the Celtics Celtics players that the media surrounding it has talked about Kyrie Irving has talked about his play their last season his lack of play there this season. Do you agree though that. It's disrespectful. Volt the current players whether Kyri has been inner out. He's been the topic of discussion even last year. Going into free agency. It was all about Kyrie the year before. Can the Celtics takes be good without Kyrie in the playoffs. I respect what Marcus smart had to say. You know everybody deals with things in a different way coworkers teammates however it is there you may not like everybody but you respect them and so I feel like you know by Marcus. Smart Hugging hiree. It was more of a respect thing but I'm with him like they're not worried about Kyrie anymore. They're moving on. They're trying to play and people keep bringing it up but guess what basketball's astles entertainment. It's about fans. People people love controversy. They love when people are skeptical whether people people like each other so it's part of what makes the NBA so entertaining. Well is there's always so much more going on off the court than there is on the court. I think that this is more about the narrative that we the media have created surrounding Cairo. Because it's not just about his decision to leave Boston and go play in Brooklyn this dates back to the kind of player in the kind of the person that we deemed him to be in Cleveland. And then what we saw from him in Boston the expectation that he would be the leader at the helm of a team for the first time out out of Lebron James Shadow and then it didn't exactly happen that way for a number of reasons and now we're expecting to see the same in Brooklyn but I just want to change the narrative a little bit because this is what my issue she with. NBA Is. Nobody's talking about Chris. Paul Houston nobody's talking about. How bad of a franchise Houston is for trading Chris Paul but Kyri gets the blame claim of being such a bad person for doing what he feels is best for himself and going to Brooklyn and so? I'm saying that like I think that you know. Oh yes everybody does. What's best for them? But like how come. It's not hung up on like people. Don't hang up on trades that different franchises criticism is more so heavily on players decisions rather than franchising anytime that a player makes a decision. It's selfish or only about him whereas ranch is is make decisions. It's it's business. Don't seem to see it that way on both sides and nobody's talking about like man. How could Houston signed him to this? Max Deal in trade Chris Paul we also a fair question. It should be asked. I mean it's very fair but nobody's talking about it and everybody is kind of I mean on Kyrie's case about this and it's in the headlines and things like that but at the end of the day I mean the media makes what makes and as long as you're going to get these continue to get these sound bites from Marcus Smart. You continue to get things that come out of the locker room. People are going to continue to be interested in it. How much do you think though of this narrative is us trying to create something that maybe isn't there in order to keep up some of the interest over the last several seasons if somehow we include a narrative from three seasons ago surrounding Kyrie Irving and bring it into this season may be people still be interested? Well it's been I mean the NBA has capitalized off of storylines. We've gotten to know the players the gift and the curse of things I mean you're opening yourself up to personal things that happened in your life that are now going to become public. I mean that's what it happens. It's an entertainment it's entered you're an entertainer but at the end of the day. You know you got to do. What's best for your family and things like that and not worry about what the Internet Internet saying or you know? People's opinions are could it be perhaps over now that the returns have happened on both sides. Anthony Davis has gone back to New Orleans. They booed him that one time. I don't really see it continuing in the future. Perhaps Kyrie though it'll be when he actually returns to Boston that they'll get to boom the one time I'm and then kind of move on as well. Do you think that perhaps these things are are over or at least close to being. I don't know if Kyrie was booed when he went back to Cleveland the previous year I know the first time he was by linke was but last year when he went back to Cleveland right was he booed so I think it kind of subsides. Yeah they're going to be some fans that carry that but any advice to New Orleans if you boo Anthony Davis and he's putting up a forty piece I don't know of the booing is being very effect. I think though the booing also has to have some relation to what he accomplished for that franchise like maybe Boston fans have bigger reason to Bukeye read than Cleveland. Fans have to Kyrie because because cl- I mean come on what he delivered not just to that franchise shot who the city one of the most important and iconic shots of all time I'm in NBA history an NBA finals history. Undoubtedly so made you have less of a reason to boom and that's true that's very true. Well if New Orleans Colin wants to follow Cleveland's playbook they shouldn't do Anthony Davis because he's going to continue to forty pieces you think. Sometimes it motivates those Gal my gosh attending booed. Oh and especially if you hit your first shot it's over. Is there anywhere that you go. You get consistently booed I would say Minnesota in Seattle are probably two of the places places that I get the most out imagine in Minnesota. They don't know Minnesota probably even want to you at restaurants even if you're paying customer but for good reason again though all relating to what you've done on the court which is a little different than what we're talking about with these guys but I would expect whenever there's some sort of ending or departure or trade or some type of sour taste lapraik AL persuade frank up exactly you can pretend all you want. There are some feelings that need to be released. A lot of fans feel like they do that by Buick. Closure closure they need closure every relationship let's move on James Harden though is making history in the NBA. This season he joined a League company. He's had four four sixty point teams in his career on believable. Listened to what he had to say after the most recent one.

"Up. The Lakers reportedly eyeing a trade with the sons to acquire veteran wingmen Trevor Aretha, we will definitely be getting to that in a moment. But first LeBron James, and Dwayne Wade have been through pretty much everything, and they're sixteen years together from opponents teammates and back again and back again, again, they have always made it clear that their bond is much deeper than basketball and will last much longer than their time in the NBA, which is a good thing since with Wade having already announced he will retire at the end of the
