"They're gonna win one hundred and forty games what they're gonna do. Hi, host the Yankees. Like, you just said Rangers staying, you know, the giants last season. Obviously went the way it did. Knicks are in line with the number one overall pick. It's like the aggies or the team that I'm really getting my wagon to right now against Baltimore lost two three to. I think we could probably have a conversation about the worst team in baseball. Yeah. Sure. It's probably Baltimore. They and they lost due to eight hundred. They lost the next two. If they play what what do individual like if you're in the alias you play the one nine nineteen times. Yeah. They might lose. The Orioles twelve thirteen times this year. They just had their number that they can't beat them. But yeah, I was ninety five percent of that game after nine innings. We'll get back to spaghetti's tweets in in just a little bit. I trust that we will at least we have much to discuss. Like I say Josh Rosen perhaps hill find himself wearing big Blue's number three jersey time training camp. What do you think of this? What do you think number thirty five for Josh Rosen? If you're the raiders, and I think I don't think they wanna roll with Derek Carr. That's just the vibe that I get that. He's he's not there guy. I do want to say go back. I'm sorry to interrupt you. But do go back and listen because on the most recent data ended on we have an Ingram. And we had we also had Joe Haden who had some great insights on the Steelers twenty eighteen and twenty nine thousand nine so some interesting stuff with with two teams that are at the. At minimum going to be awfully compelling in August and September. And we'll see where they go from there before that we talked to David car, of course, older brother, the Derek Carr. And I I mean, there's a palpable sense in the car family like, yeah. This is great as long as they are keeps the gig. I don't know that these you're if you're the raiders, and you to me this whole like we've done this long enough. And I'm not saying that I'm some sort of draft expert, but come on man, you really think I'm gonna fall for the whole Dwayne Haskins Cuyler Murray. Now, you wanna team to jump ahead of you to take Haskins? So you can have more of a choice for that defensive linemen that you want, you know, whether it's Clinton or if it's Josh Allen, or if it's Nick Bosa that's what they're doing. They want a team to jump ahead of them that is quarterback needy. So then you get your lineman. They're right. In or you get Allen or by some miracle, Nick Bosa slides to you. And then you got your two picks and the twenties where you can get like a nice, Josh Jacobs. You know, who's probably gonna slide because it's an under because it's a position that you shouldn't draft and the top five let alone number two. Interesting teams because looking right at him. You get your Josh Jacobs. Now, you got Antonio Brown. You got Josh Jacobs. Right. And then maybe get, you know, premier young wide receiver. Get a get a marquees Brown. Get or take a swing on Jonathan Simmons. You can read shirt him for a year. Get a top five talent at the defensive line. Now, you're not gonna win anything that you're not winning the division this year. So get Simmons redshirt him until next year. And now, you got mo- Hearst. You've got Quinton Williams or Josh Allen at Jeffrey Simmons next year. And then then you take number thirty five if they're not getting any first round offers, and you trade it for a guy that we know Jon Gruden loves at least that's kind of you know, he was kind of one of his guys there Jon Gruden QB, and you don't have to sink any money into it because they already paid the first year. So your average I think your average salary for the final four years of the deals like six million bucks on. It's nothing. You get out of the twenty seven million bucks, or whatever it is that cars owed down to six. And it's like holy crap. They really navigated that hope Khalil Mack disaster. Pretty well. Listen, so far so good for..

"So the Denver Broncos are. Now gearing up for the draft they've kind of turned their attention. Although I did see after they signed Kevin HOGAN. Did you have about twelve and a half million dollars in cap space? So I wouldn't totally rule out the possibility of them getting somebody you have heard of before free agency is done. But it sir seems like after Callahan they shifted their focus to the draft by the way, speaking of Bryce Callahan. Denver post reports that he will miss voluntary camp, which I'm sure makes him very sad. But he will miss it. With an ankle issue. Philip Lindsay will miss it as well as he recovers from wrist surgery. So you'll have to wait a little bit to see the Broncos prized free agent acquisition. But that coming from the Denver Broncos that voluntary Cam is same week as the draft, which is interesting. Speaking of the draft. Mike Florio is reporting that the Broncos will meet with Dwayne Haskins Cuyler Murray, drew lock and Daniel Jones the four. The consensus four best quarterbacks in this draft. Now there have been like look at the very least this is due diligence. Right. I mean, you can't be the Denver Broncos and not take a meeting or scope out a quarterback right there. There's just been too much. Too many wrong decisions made that if you have a chance to evaluate a guy up close and personal even if it's just in a conversation. You should do it. So certainly on that level. We can all agree that this is one not surprising that the Broncos are doing this. But also to necessary legwork prior to the draft. But I mentioned the signing of Kevin HOGAN. I just don't see how the quarterback depth chart is going to be flacco HOGAN, Grayson. I just don't see how that's going to be the case in in. John Elway has said this before that he always wants to come away with a quarterback in every draft. Just because that's how important the position is you don't want to leave any stone unturned, and if you can grab a guy Chad Kelly was for different reasons Trevor siemian ascended a little bit higher than he probably should have. But the idea is look if there's a guy even if he's in if it's in the sixth or seventh round I'm going to grab a quarterback because I want more competition at that position. And I want to be able to look and it's a sound philosophy. The question becomes. Whether that quarterback John Elway inevitably takes in the draft will be one of those four names mentioned in will be at. Number ten, and I've said this before if it's not Haskins, I point I don't I don't take Murray's not going to be available. So we're that we don't have to discuss that Haskins may or may not be if he is available. I've said I want the Broncos to take him. I say if it's drew lock. And especially if it's Daniel Jones, I I allow him to get past me and wish him good luck in Washington Miami. Or wherever else he's going to these guys are going to end up with. But drew lock just had his pro day. And I want to read a tweet from Bucky Brooks. Because it sounds like a Craigslist ad that John Elway place looking for a quarterback. Wow. Thrower with a plus arm talent. Bb plus. Makes him a great fit in a Shanahan light system. Bootlegs naked play actions. Three still a work in progress. But intriguing due to its physical tools. That sounds like what John L other than tall. Like if they just number four. He was tall. Then that would be the complete package. John Elway loves quarterbacks. They could do bootlegs. He loves the. The guys that can quote make all the throws Paxton Lynch was that guy. Right. He can make all the throws the problem is he can only do it from the shotgun. And by make all the throws. He didn't mean complete all of the throws. So. Don't don't think that John Elway didn't make the moves. He did in free agency just to at least open up the possibility of taking quarterback at ten. It's like look I got two corners. I gotta right tackle. I'm I can I could take a quarterback if I wanted to like that don't think that that's not part of John Elway thought process here. Look, I address this need. I address this scene. I addressed this need. I had this great off-season everyone. Agreed. It was a good offseason. And now, I leave myself the ability to take a quarterback if I so desire. So. And really at this point. Were debating wind backer versus quarterback. I mean, what other position is worthy of the ten th pick that you could even imagine the Broncos taking. So John Elway has narrowed it down to where he could take a quarterback or he could take it inside linebacker and justify either you may not like the pick. But he can justify it. Or at least he feels like he can justify it. So I'm not guaranteeing. They'll take a quarterback at ten and I certainly only advocate taking Dwayne Haskins if he's available, but. You you just can't rule out the possibility of a quarterback at ten you can't. And maybe you could have before free agency started because you're like, oh my gosh. We only have one cornerback. We don't have this. We don't ever that. We don't John Elway took care of a lot of that. So I would I would say don't I'm not calling my shot here. I'm just saying don't rule it out. At number ten to eight six zero four six your thoughts on that. We will break for a moment. Come back. I do want to talk a little bit about. I just don't want their season to like go. And then us not reference what this season was for them. So we'll talk about that a little bit a little bit more Broncos all sorts of other fun stuff. "Line. Mike Golic, Michael junior. Trey wingo here with you. And everybody was waiting yesterday to find out just how big Kyla Murray would or would not be and he blew away the scale and the height thing. So I think we're not waiting on him doing anything else at all mad as I as we've talked about it. He's you just walk around smile and nod and wave and then go do it at her. And and the interviews any team wants him to die said officially get the number on his combine bib changed two five one zero walks around. If anyone asking why he's not doing drills five ten five one zero point one point one, very warmly. So kind of like when Dion Sanders showed up for the forty ran and then left, although I think Kyle or has to do some interviews with people. But I I don't expect them to do anything else. So for more on this. Let's bring in our esteemed NFL insider, Chris Mortensen mort after those measurable is there anything Kylo needs to do physical standpoint anymore at the combine. He's not going to do anything else. That was interesting because obviously everybody wants to know the height, you know, the fear from a couple of personnel guys. I know who like Carolyn Murray was that he was going to come in in the five eight range while that's the that was the uncertainty and that would that would have probably cause. Huge ripples if he'd come in at the five eight and three quarters, and you could argue that and debate that all you want. But that was the concern for some personnel men who I really like him now when he stepped onto scales away to seven I knew immediately. He was not doing drills are running at this combine because what do you think he's gonna way when he runs it pro day or does the drills are it's not going to be too old seven. Nope. It'll be what do you take a guess? Yeah. Exactly. As possible. Yeah. Yeah. He's going to be in the low twos at most maybe two hundred. That's what we talked about that yesterday. He gained weight for the scales. And there's no sense of trying to run with that. Wait one. He'll be lighter four what's interesting to me is most people's draft boards. They have Dwayne Haskins ranked higher than Kyle Murray. Now Cuyler Murray hits the five ten Mark. And all of a sudden it's talked about being the number one pick for the cardinals. Obviously, do do you think that has more to do with the style of play cliff Kingsbury has an arid Zona, then the then the style of play both these quarterbacks play. I think the cardinals works from the measurable in terms of whether or not kinda Murray is going to be or is going to be the number one pick. It still remains mystery Steve kind of general manager there and quipped Kingsbury himself are playing the game. They're they're. Oh. Let me guessing game going, but I know a lot of people in the league who believe it only makes sense that they would take Carla Murray. And that was regardless what is is was because they hired clean clip Kingsbury when he was interviewing offense, you coordinators be basically told them he wanted to run his offense. And that's hey there. Max protections are six men and Josh Rosen who did show promise as a rookie the versatility to the mobility of Karla Murray. This makes sense for the cardinals in a division, by the way, where you have you know, Russell Wilson in Seattle and Jimmy Garoppolo in San Francisco and Gerry Goffin LA and bring that type of electricity. I don't think the measurable battered on Kara Murray the issue of Murray, and Dwayne asking that I've heard is the fact that these guys are one year starters bigger made Joe Carlo Maria on the bench where you once you transfer subjective. If you just go and look at all the starters. The effect. You starters in recent years. Russell Wilson almost two thousand snaps in college. I have a ten tweeted. My Twitter there it kind of gives us a lot of these guys played a lot like two and three years of starting wars Haskins encounter Murray or one year. And it's one reason why general manager basically argued Jimmy me yesterday. These guys actually need to come into the league and play right away. Yeah. Which happened with all the quarterbacks last year they played at some point because they need to start this. I did it. They need to sit behind some veteran and learn how to play the game they need to play because they didn't play that much in college. Right reps are as important as anything is Chris Mortensen joins us on the shell Pennzoil performance line, taking synthetic motor oil performance to a whole new level. Make the switch to Pennzoil synthetics today. You know, it's more just what we're doing right now shows you how fast and how quickly the dynamic in the conversation changes because last year right around the end of the playoffs. No one was considering Baker Mayfield as the number one pick in the draft. Maybe potentially do not a first round pick in the draft. And that's what happens and everyone said last year get your quarterback in the twentieth. Eighteen draft because the quarterbacks in the two thousand nineteen graft. Well, they're just not going to be there. We could potentially have four or even more quarterbacks. Go now in the first round how much has this dynamic change in. How important has this position? Become that we see the quarterback spot sort of overdrafted year after year. Yeah. Well, that's that's that's been it. Feels like forever to be honest with you. But yeah, we make we maybe you could add for I see three for sure in terms of Murray Haskins and drew lock Missouri. And then you know, there's there's about an ankle of guys. I mean from day, no Jones up Clayton Thorson the Gardner Minzhu. And I'm leaving somebody out who could go second round picks. But you'll last year. Last year. The inability of the media including me to identify Baker Mayfield as the Browns top pick. That's just our failure. Because John Dorsey during the year when he really wasn't employed by the Browns wash six of Baker mayfield's games and shot mcluhan who was the top consultant for the Browns had already said that Baker Mayfield was Brett farve. This is well before the draft. They knew they knew all they did was hit it from us. Talking to Chris Mortensen are ESPN NFL insider and upcoming NFL combine trae gonna be heading out there later today as well for all of our coverage this weekend more, I'm interested. What are the other parts we talked about this with Tyler Murray was Steve time with that number one overall pick is Josh Rosen because I think it was Mel kiper that said the other day that he had a higher draft grade than any of the quarterbacks in this draft right now, I'd be curious. Have you heard any rumblings of what a realistic asking price would be for Josh Rosen. If the cardinals were looking to maybe deal him. Yeah. And it's a big if right now who playing that game. And and the game is on. But for Josh Rosen. Listen, he did nothing in Arizona last year with a very weak supporting cast around to dispel the rumors that he could play in this league at a pretty good level. You know, but he is a guy who has less mobility than all I mean, you know, last year's corvette class. It looks pretty good. It looks really good for for for all the teams got one. Josh Rosen Kingsbury was supposedly hired to basically set the thing up for Josh Rosen success. He's a first round grade though, you have to go if there's going to be a trade partner, you gotta find some of the teams that had strong first round grades on him teams were all over the map on the quarterback last year. I mean, there were some teams that Dr Sam darnold I had him out of that group. And I think the same was Josh Rosen. I mean, I think no. And I were talking yesterday thinks. The Washington Redskins. They're great spot for Josh Rosen. It was just a wait a minute. Did they have a first round grade? We don't know that yet. So and actually what Mel suggested may be quite honest with you. It's going to be an interesting process starting this weekend going up all the way through the draft Morton as always we appreciate you being with us. I'll see you tomorrow in India, buddy. Thank smart look forward to it. Thanks, guys. So I mean, the the question here right is the relationship of Steve and Kingsbury? Okay. Kind can tell the coach coming in in this case cliff Kingsbury Josh Rosen your quarterback, that's what you have to work with and there's cliff Kingsbury that says, you know, what if I'm coming in. It'd be the head coach. Can we have the discussion of Cuyler Murray is more the type of quarterback that I think I can succeed with in an offense now in the NFL the way they're going, and then it's going to be what what they think? Because as we said Josh Rosen at a higher grade than both Wayne Haskins and Kyla Murray going into this process Rosen struggled, but a lot of that was a horrible team. Around him. I still like Rosen to to have a good career. I really do. But it may not be close type of quarterback. And he may be fighting to say, I think I can win more with this guy. What a beautiful situation forklift Kingsbury in all seriousness as a first time NFL head coach going into the situation essentially with Josh Rosen as someone on the table for the first overall pick with them. He's centrally choosing July one Josh Rosen Dwayne Haskins Cuyler Murray, he's got the pick of the litter at that one spot, and I say he being your organization, but if they're smart, and if Steve time really wants to work, you take the input of your brand new head coach, essentially say who's the quarterback, we all wanna tie our fate to and Josh is essentially being redrafted into that group, potentially. Because you know, there's a market, but then trae doesn't it also. If you go down that road doesn't look like Steve picked the wrong quarterback. Like people are saying he picked the wrong head coaching giving Wilkes one year. Yeah. And analysis starts to fall him even more that that is true. And listen, I hope it works out for cliff. But I I will always. Say you should have given Steve Wilks more agree with that. Zona? So it is funny though, because I think Josh Rosen would have I would have had a higher draft grade been a lot of these guys in this year's draft class and say. So so he's mel's already said, and what his value is going to be to somebody else is gonna be really interesting after the season. We saw in the NFL which really wasn't him more than anything else..

"But he's too humble to admit it played four years the National Football League. Some his brother. Carson palmer. We like Jordan Palmer. We put them on all the time. And let's bring him on the show right now all those elite eleven camps. He was the tutor for Sam darnold. Josh allen. Organiz their pro days. So here we are a year later. This is go time for you all this stuff from the combine stuff, by the way, kind of Murray. Probably doesn't throw it. The combine is that a mistake. You okay without? Yeah. I'm fine with it. You know last year we had sand it in throughout the day, or at the combine I think with Cuyler it's kind of on brand I've been around him when he was younger, and this is like the greatest high school football player in the history of Texas. Really? Yeah. Four years in a row never lost. Big time ball goes to a school. It's not exactly what he wants a transfer Oklahoma maximizes opportunity. So I think when a guy doesn't throw at the combine sometimes there's an element of ego. And that can have a negative connotation in this case, I think kind of doing on brand he's a super confident guy. He's saying wait till the show in Oklahoma. Norman whenever that is. And I don't have a problem with people you the cop people use as Russell Wilson, although his playing weights about two twenty-five Keiler is playing weight and college was under two hundred. We put pictures up earlier of Wisconsin, Russell in Oklahoma Cuyler, and Russell just looks bigger thicker and more muscular, that's his playing ways little heavier. Do you worry about the frame and teddy Bridgewater is frame with spindly got hurt RG threes frame when he came out. We said kinda spindly got hurt. Do you worry about a size, not just height? But stature will Goff is what you just said to. Yes, hasn't got hurt. Right. Been well protected, but also in college in the NFL didn't get hurt. So I don't know that it's a given what myself and with a lot of teams look at his actually joint size. Okay. How thick is his risk his ankles, his knees. So you you you've spent some time with Aaron Rodgers. Yes, thick joints, big ankles big risks. Because that's where the tension has you can put a bunch of muscle on. But there's been a lot of players where when they have RG three the skinny needs the skinny ankles that you'd look for in an athlete when you look for in durability in a you know, how you project against the player's availability. Now healthy they're going to be right. I look more towards that. And even shorter guys. Like, Russell Wilson ju- breeze. Johnny Manziel thick joints, big risks, big ankles, big knees. And so that's where that durability is. Because those are the injuries. It's not a pulled quad. It's not a pulled hamstring, right? This isn't track. And I think Tyler is is on benefiting side of that. Let's go to last year's class Baker darnold. Darnold, more than I liked all of them. Baker Mayfield, Josh Allen. Lamar Jackson Josh Rosen. And then this have these guys Dwayne Haskins Cuyler Murray, drew lock the kid at Missouri. If I- jumbled them altogether, where would Cuyler be the most difficult to to evaluate. I think because you've got some things that are off the charts the career that he had in highschool is relevant for me speaks to what he thinks when he steps on the field that every time you go into the game that you're gonna win because they have him. That's what I want and the guy right? But on the negative side. You have you have re really only played one year. Right. And so you've got all these you've got so much to evaluate on both sides. And what's interesting. That's happening is the game is obviously changing, right? A lot of stuff. It used to be the colleges. Soul stuff from the NFL offenses and defenses and schematics. But now it's NFL stealing concepts and cliff kings, raise the head coach of the is on a cardinal, right? And so you see it going the other direction, but the way that that's affecting the talent evaluation. And really the talian talent evaluators is is drastically different than it was five years ago. Really if you look at who's having success Baker Mayfield, he's a Heisman finalists three times. He wins at once. He goes number one overall looks to me like he's going to be a really good pro. You look at North Dakota state's quarterback going number two overall. And if he stays healthy, I think we're all he's one of the guys in the league. And what's happened? Is you talent evaluators on the media side and on the team side, the pool of players that they have to give an honest look to is different. It's no longer. Just the six foot four right handed quarterback from one of these seven schools. Now, you have to look at trace McSorley you have to look at Tyree Jackson. And the I feel I feel because I get a lot of questions from both on the media side. And let's inside I feel the stress and anxiety and these guys because they honestly have to look at a much larger group of people because when drew Brees does what he does. And then you mix and Russell Wilson and Baker pans out, and you get these guys from obscure schools playing well Jimmy Garoppolo the pool of people that could play this position at this level is just broader and the pressure is on Twitter. So you think is going to be a good pro. I think when with players like that. And it's it's super cheesy answer where it just depends on what situation he goes to situations matter. Well, the best pick whoever you love and the draft going to the worst situation for him and a six rounder or Dak Prescott going fourth round with two guys getting hurt and camp. The guy that you didn't have as high in the perfect situations better than the awesome guy in the bad situation. So I think Tyler could go to the wrong situation and be out quick outside of Andrew luck. John Elway and probably Peyton almost everybody. Every quarterback in the league needs the right fit. Elway would've worked anywhere. You would have overcome a horrible organization, but could argue that even Sam darnold Adam gaze is probably going to be a good fit. Freddie kitchens. Most guys are fitness leak unless you're Khalil Mack. Which is done. You. I it's. Receivers and tight ends. And how you use them. Yes. So I when I look at Cuyler, I think cliff Kingsbury. I mean, I know it's number one pick, but Jordan that's the coach, right? The perfect fit. I think there's something there. I know incident permission reading is going on. I'm just a fan watching scenario on. It makes a lot of sense as it make more sense than building it around the guy you took last year. I don't know I'm not not building. But it certainly makes sense. Because if somebody believes that Keiler is the perfect person to run their thing and the data that they have is he ran something similar at the other level. Right. That's the only day that you're gonna have. Then I think it becomes a real real discussion. And I do think that he's the one player since I've been paying attention to this stuff. That is the most difficult to predict what's gonna happen. Cuyler marie. Yeah. I kind of felt that Baker was going to go where he was going to especially at the at the end. Sure hearing how his pro day win house meetings were going, and then you start looking at what Jimmy has them was really looking for. And it started to make a bunch of cents at the end Cuyler kylie's different. I I have no idea. What's gonna happen with this kid, isn't that crazy fun? Yeah. You you you say that you're getting. You feel the tension now with teams and they've got to look at these athletes does. I mean, I still think there is a prototype for this position does mobility mean anything anymore. Yeah. Well, you talked about this. I think the future of the quarterback position comes down to the main element is the quarterbacks ability to extend the play now that doesn't necessarily mean forty time because I think drew Brees does a fantastic job of extending the play. I think Tony Romo was a magician back there. And I don't know that he could have broken flat forty ever in his life. But he's certainly bought a lot of time and created time and space so that can play out different ways. I think Bortles extended the play really well, regardless of what people's opinions were or what he was really doing or not doing he extended the play really. Well, you give the offense more opportunity. The defense has to cover longer. The pass rushers have to get off the block that has a negative effect on the defense. And then you look at the decline in offense of line play with the twenty hour rule in college were they can't really spend that much time with the guy. CBS basically the same thing in pro pro right? I don't can't really get the time to develop lines are bad. Oh lines. They walk through what they used to run through with pads in back to back today practices. They don't do that anymore. And so the the premium on a guy who can extend the plate for me. I just wouldn't touch a guy in the draft who couldn't extend the play you like the Ohio State kid doing Haskins a Jew, his his I will say his accuracy plummets when he moves too much like he needs footwork help. What do you like about it? Because I I think size pocket. You know, he's kind of the opposite of Cuyler roll around at all. He's really big not dynamics spin it. He throws it. Really? Well. Yeah. Twenty eight yards down the middle of field. I think quarterbacks get really good at the things that they have to do to survive. Oh, you look at Peyton at the end of his career. He's losing his grip is losing his arm talent start wearing a glove to hold onto a little bit. Better starts moving his feet faster than the pocket because it made him. Think faster got really good pre snap because we gotta get in the perfect play. Good to Sean early on rookie year. I didn't really see it. I don't really know. I was with Mahomes last week talking to him about what week. Did it all clicked for you? And it was lot closer to the middle of the season in the beginning. Really? But if you can create the time in the space, and you you learn what you have to do to survive. And so I look at Dwayne Haskins, and I go, well, there's when I hear the inaccuracy or any concerns around that. Well, he did throw a lotta open guys that Ohio State and a lot of games. They were the best team on the field. But what I know about Swain. He's a. A fighter. He's a worker. He's a confident guy. I think that once he gets to the league any we saw this with Josh last year right dose Allen, not accurate enough. Not this. I believe that he was the type of kid that when he gets in the NFL, and he really sees what he has to do to survive. He's a survivor. I think Dwayne us to a survivor. You got a lot of theories on stuff. I listen to Colin cowherd old guys. I gotta take. Yeah. That is great. I ran to all my questions. And then some great senior, thanks for having me. "Here's your host, Luke Hamid. It's a little bit different for us this year. There's a there's a few more players that can be available. If there's a quarterback out there that we could help us, you know, this year in the future. We'll never close the door on that. Is there a smoke screen or not that was Bob Quin with Matt Patricia the bomb of a head coach of the Detroit Lions at the Lyons press conference is a smokescreen from general manager is Bob Quinn playing the right? Move of saying, yeah, we're gonna draft a quarterback world, but addressed the Quebec when no New York Cincinnati Jacksonville all behind them needing a quarterback. Is that a smokescreen is that the right play for Bob Quinn? You know, I think it could be because we're seeing Matt Stafford's production has gone down. I'm not saying he's a bad quarterback. And I don't think the quarterback that we draft should take a starting job. But I think it could be a legitimate consideration. You could get this new quarterback, whether it'd be Cuyler Murray or whoever it might be getting a little bit of grooming undermanned Stafford. And I think that'd be great. But I also I think that there are more needs at the lions have right now. And I think they need to focus on those first. But that's just me. I guess. I see what you're saying. I don't want to disagree with you again. But if I'm Bob Quinn. I I can see myself taking a quarterback if it's the right fit at that eight spot in the draft. Cuyler murray. Sounds intriguing obviously there's a couple of other guys who would be intriguing as well. But. I I don't know what I would do. That's why I'm not paid the big bucks to make that decision and turn a franchise around and make a city happy. That's Bob Quinn's job. But you know, I wouldn't be upset if we took Kyla Murray with our first round pick. I I it's hard to be upset if you take a talent like that. Yeah. I I agree with that. I like Maria LA, I think if he's if he's there, and there's really no one else who you think you need if you're Bob Quinn. I think you should jump on it. Maybe do something like a Patrick Mahomes kind of deal where he took a year or what was that a year or two maybe under Alex Smith kind of learned the? When the ropes and then was able to take the reins this year. Now, he's the MVP. So maybe something like that. If you know, you have Cuyler Murray there to learn under Matt Stafford of met staffer starts to struggle and be the match stuff that we've seen Philip past year or two, you know. Ship him somewhere else? And then you bring in Cuyler Murray. Maybe you get a picture of homes like situation, and he becomes an MVP Super Bowl contending quarterback, which is the best situation possible. Obviously that's not a guarantee, but if he's available someone else you need with eighth pick the opportunity and take Murray drastic quarterback. I hate to break it to you guys. They're not drafting Kyla Marie even if he's available. This is all complete smoke show from Bob Quinn. Smart move by the man. That's surprising. His if if Bob Quinn draft the quarterback, I think half the Detroit fan base would call for this man had there's half that want to see Matt Stafford succeed in you know, he's our guy. He's this man. He's that there's other halfway through an time. I'm not saying I'm not saying that I'm not against that by saying that Kayla. Marie would other fan base is an intriguing name. This loop. Yeah. Real quick. Stafford came off of probably the most disappointing season of his career. You take Carla Murray say at number eight you sit him on the bench to start the season. Matt Stafford this is your last chance you either turn it around you either become the quarterback that the city wants the city needs or you go back to your performance last year. You throw throwing for two hundred yards. If you're on a good day. You're throwing for one hundred hundred fifty yards two hundred sections you're sitting on the bench after that. And Kyla Murray comes in and he has a chance to take your job. So I think if you do take a quarterback at eight that puts a lot of pressure on Matt Stafford and it might just he's been complacent. I think that's what it might be. He he knows that's his job. But you you have a guy Tyler Murray kinda you know, staffer can feel them come from behind. So, you know, it's I wouldn't be against it for that reason. Because he just came off of that's terrible season last year horrible season. Yeah, why not put a little bit of pressure on them? And if he falls under the pressure Cuyler Murray, the job is yours. You're what if they do that? And and Cuyler Murray is drafting them or the Detroit Lions, and they say Matt Stafford this man is coming for your job step up or or you're gone. A Matt Stafford steps up and has a career year and you drafted a quarterback number encounter. Marija stuck in here in Detroit. And I'm thinking that if you're drafting a quarterback and you're saying that you're jets quarterback this. This is a smoke shell. You got New York. You got Cincinnati. You got Jacksonville behind you. I wouldn't mind flipping the apex of the tent pegging a third round draft pick from New York if they want Dwayne Haskins as their man, I think this is a complete smoke show from bow Quinn. And I'm thinking if you not draft a defensive and a big defensive and that gets quick off the blocks to pair him with Darius snacks Harrison or you don't dress, greedy Williams from LSU the quick corner. And you pair him next to Darius slay. I think that you're delusional Gwen, I think that against your point job. I'm saying if Matt Stafford turns it around, you're you're stuck and you passed up on a Rashawn Gary Kirsten Wilkins, and I agree. The Williams for Kyle. Murray who's going to be Ryan the bench here in Detroit. So I think you the smart move by saying that you're drafting your open a draft the quarterback from Bob Quinn. That was a smart move. Now, New York is gays wet feet and now Jacksonville and Cincinnati. Their palms are starting to sweat up here a little bit. They're saying maybe we should flip that eleven pick for the pig. Maybe we should flip that thirteen pick for the APEC and toss Detroit a third rounder. I would be open to that. I don't know your thoughts on that. I be open to flipping the eight for the ten picking a third round draft pick from New York. If New York is getting some wet feet saying that, you know Detroit's open a drafting Dwayne Haskins Cuyler Murray caliber player. You know, it's hard to tell right now because I would like to see who still available on the draft board because there's a there's a guy like you said, I greedy Williams, who's there who's not gonna be there at ten. I think you keep that pick. I think if you if you see a guy playing one of the positions the lions need, whether it would be safety, we just lost clover. Quin maybe somebody on the offensive line. I think you gotta take that that best available guy. If you see somebody who meets your teams needs. So I think it's hard to tell right now. I think it's just all about who's going to be available yet. I'm thinking, greedy Williams is a is a mess if if he falls to you, and you don't draft them that's a complete whiff, and I said it before on this show. It's a maker break draft for Bob Quinn. If he if he screws this one up, which is gonna be tough to do. This man has gone. There's I mean they're asking their kid at a candy shop if you're looking for a defensive end or a corner in a league corner in greedy. Williams for an offensive lineman. I'm open all of that. I'm not I'm not wiping out an idea of drafting a QB if they don't trade that draft pick. But I'm saying that if you do drift the quarterback Matthew Stafford says as a career year you wasted your draft pick out a quarterback for guy. That's for Matt Stafford that's gonna be starting for the next three or four years. Luke, real quick sorry. Go ahead. So I'm looking at CBS and I'm looking at their mock draft. They actually have a mock trade within the draft. And you guessed it that trade involves the lions the Miami Dolphins. Wow. It looks like a Cording to this mock mock draft mock trade, or whatever you wanna call it the dolphins I believe from thirteen they will do a swap with the lions eight and thirteen and then obviously the ends would probably get a pick later on. A third rounder, drew. That's really interesting to me because I'm reading this article right now here on further win and at saying Mel kiper juniors talking about Kyle Murray taken at thirteen overall. So I mean, if that if that trade were to take place than I think that would be great because in the lions can use that eighth pick as leverage they're saying, hey, we might take Murray at eight unless you wanna give us something in return. So that's what they're doing right now. That's that's what I'm thinking that they're doing. I think Bob Quinn's comments saying that we're open to drifting quarterback is trying to make Jacksonville Miami. Cincinnati and New York all making him nervous. They're saying what are we are? We risking not trading up for missing out on a Keiler Maria Duane or Dwayne Haskins needs a quarterback Miami needs a quarterback. And I don't know about you guys. I've opened a train that eight pick up the even up to thirteen if that results in a third router round or later on the draft could become a bidding war with all these teams who are behind us in the draft order. They're going to be thinking. Well, I mean if Miami's willing to give up a third rounder, but we want we want Cuyler Murray more. So I don't know who are some what are some of the teams named Cincinnati. For example. Say they want Cuyler Murray. We'll give you a a third and a fourth. You know, it could become a bidding war which could only bode well for the lions. But. Yeah. That's a good point. I it probably is a bluff on Matt. Or I'm Bob Quinn's part. Excuse me. But I'm so I'm so sick. And with my original claim that I would not be upset if the lions drafted a quarterback specifically Cuyler Murray is Murray going number one. No number one with the NFL world door riot. The answer is yes, I think if Tyler Murray gets drafted to the Arizona Cardinals you're gifted trae Josh Rosen, and you're gonna have to do all this. You're going to do that. I think Cuyler Murray is going to have to learn underneath a veteran quarterback for at least a season. I don't think he's NFL rate. He didn't make the every right read in college. Maybe he's gonna get flushed out of the pocket. He's a short five nine. So if he gets flush out of the pocket one of these elite NFL corners can come around the edge. You know, absolutely light him up. He's going to have to learn underneath a veteran quarterback for a couple of years, which has a guy going into his second season in Josh Rosen. He's gonna have to get move. If the NFL or the Arizona Cardinals are gonna have to draft Cuyler Murray. I'm thinking that he's gonna fall late in the mid first late first round. I think the first two picks of the draft are going to be edge rushers Sarraf with Nick Bosa from Ohio State and then Josh Allen likely going number two. And cardinals are indefinite need of a pass rusher as are the Niners. So and these guys are they're freaks of nature. So you can't. And that's what's important in this league. Now guys who can get after the quarterback. I think Nick Bosa would be the smart I pick for their on a cardinals. Andrew just took the words right out of my mouth. I think that Nick boast is going to be. The number one overall pick out on sandy reason, why Calum Murray would be an interesting player for the cardinals as they just got Josh Rosen. And I know he didn't have a great year. But at the end of the day, I think you don't give up on Josh Rosen.

"But he had the injury late new year. So there's a lot of backs we're going to go second or third round. I don't think any goal in the first round. Benny snow. Would he be in the second round group or depends on what he runs at forty thousand Emmitt Smith ran for six so Benny Snell doesn't have great forty speed. But he keeps those chains move and he's a great pure runner. So I think we've Benny Snell junior certainly one of those second or third round possibilities, and that list goes on and on a strong running Weber at Ohio states coming at early. This is a loaded running back situation. Koran Higdon at Michigan solid back. Yeah. I think there's a lot. Running backs in that second third fourth round area. Teddy Bridgewater house that impact the decision. Making of these things. Everybody's not going to be in an agreement. One Dwayne Haskins Cuyler Murray Daniel Jones from Duke through lock there's going to be wide ranging opinions. So you only need one though, I have Daniel Jones going at the end of the first round in New England Todd mcshay thinks he's a third or fourth round pick. So we'll see how that all plays out. Bottom line is free agency. Combine pro days will impact the first round mocks tremendously. That's. Why we do these after every exercise for the senior bowl, I do one. If the combine I do another one if the pro days and then the day before the draft. So we have five mock drafts for a reason Paul because it is ever changing it's fluid. "That's the only reason I could possibly think of and that's I don't know where he just really loves college football. But you've spent a lot of the week talking about this possibility. He's got to announce it by Monday the deadline is Monday. I okay, let's start with this. If he announces he's in the NFL draft. How can he go? Well, he could go very high early first round. He's talking about at mentioned number one pick with Arizona and cliff Kingsbury cliff Kingsbury made a point back in October, and he made this public. It was talked about all week that he's the number one pick in the draft as far as he's concerned. Now, ironically clippings virgin notice in October. Okay. He's got the number one pick. And there you are. And then you get into giants at six Jacksonville at seven. Then you get Miami at thirteen Washington at fifteen teams that could straight up to those spots to get the Haskins Ohio State Kyle Murray. And that's the question Dwayne Haskins Cuyler Murray, who's the better NFL prospect from those two now one's a pocket guy one as the size Cuyler does Cuyler Murray were three inches taller Dari. This would even be a discussion. Yeah. All right. Do you in today's NFL where you're deep? In shotgun way. Deep in the shotgun in space. Nobody around you with his arm. His speed his athleticism his competitiveness his football IQ. And when he produced which was more touchdowns the accounted for fifty four touchdowns. Baker Mayfield accounted for forty nine. This final year. Baker was at seventy point five percent Murray because he was only fifty one four against Alabama finished up at sixty nine percent against Alabama three touchdowns. No picks in terms of account for three touchdowns two passing one rushing. No picks and accounted for four hundred seventeen yards of total offense in that game to me into days. NFL you have to adapt to the times just to the times that we're in. Now, Russell Wilson seven years ago at five ten and three quarters was a third round pick. Now here we are in a two thousand nineteen draft. Looking at a guy who was listed in their baseball roster at five eleven and their football roster at five ten he's probably five nine issue Cuyler Murray. Yeah, it's going to be very interesting to see what Arizona does it number one with cliff. Kingsbury now calling the shots. Do you think in general? I'm not just talking about teams looking at quarterback. Mel that. I'm talking about thirty to thirty two GM's, right or decision maker got thirty two people. How many for how many of them is five nine too short to even consider? How many of them say we don't care? Great question. I posted the couple, and they seem to think the way the league is now it's not going to be a big deal Steve time as the GM he will work with cliff Kingsbury. But you gotta believe it's kings varies gonna make that call with the number one pick on the quarterback. I have a lot to say about it less. Got Steve has a totally different opinion of where Haskins will be in wear. A collar Murray will be an we're Josh Rosen roses they trained drafted Josh Rosen. Now, Steve Wilks was the coach Josh Rosen. Was there the players were raving about them. Now hit some rough times because the town around in one that good. We know that's why they have the number one pick in the draft the abandon that and go a different direction totally because cliff Kingsbury has a strong opinion of Cuyler Murray. And then trae Josh Rosen is Adam Schefter suggestion. That's going to be fascinating to see how that all ends up. Because kind drafted Rosen may get Rosen Kingsbury says, hey, I'm a Murray guy, would you do and that's going to be fun to see how that plays out. But the answer the question about Murray he's gonna go forget late first round. He will go. Oh, very very early in the first round. And it may be a guy that teams feel the need the trade up for we'll see but the whole we've never had this..

"The eighty four Heisman Trophy announcements. It will either be Dwayne Haskins Cuyler Murray or to a tongue of I lower. This is how close do you? Anticipate this vote being Brad PO folks are comparing it to to the one that we had about fifteen years ago. I really I really will be gear. Know what to expect mat like I mean, it was nine years ago marking room. Toby Gerhart was the closest one of all time. And that one felt like it was going to be close. I guess I don't feel that way about this one because I have a stronger feeling the Cuyler Murray is gonna win. I could be wrong. I'm not certain about that. But I won't be surprised if it's if it's not all that close. And once again, though, as Trevor made the point last segment, we we've heard that ten percent of the votes were in prior to last Saturday, which would mean that to probably had a head start. So maybe I should expect it to be close. I have a feeling that it's going to be really close. But how close the vote is doesn't matter who comes in number two. Who comes in number one will never have to worry about their financial future ever if they never play down to professional sports because all they'll need to do is show up at events conventions and card signings, and and shake some hands on science of things and walk away with ten fifteen twenty thousand dollars for the rest of their life. You don't think marking rooms introduced as the winner of the closest vote in Heisman history? Yeah. Probably and whoever gave me who came in second Toby Gerhart by twenty points by twenty eight points. Most people don't that was December twelfth two thousand nine. Yeah. It was again. This is the most fascinating thing about it. With this vote is that too had the lead throughout the entire season. And then it was that last conference championship game where we all said, the only thing that can prevent them from winning is a bad performance, and maybe an injury and those things happen in both of those things happen. And and look, and they probably would have lost. If he hadn't come out of the game. That's kind of the the the odd thing about the the way that it worked. So I don't know, you know, one the one thing though, that I think that we might be underestimating. And if to a wins, I think this is what will all come back to is that there could be a lot of people out there who just simply think so little of big twelve defenses that they don't want to give it to to an Oklahoma quarterback for the second year in a row because as great as those guys have been there could be a percentage of voters out there that say, you know, what is just because they're playing bad defense is week after week. I think what Baker Mayfield did against Georgia in the Rose Bowl should have silenced. A lot of that. But I think it's still very present within a certain segment of people who watch college football. How close was number two to Baker last year. You don't have to stop you. I don't think it was close. I can't even remember who number two was last year. There you go. It doesn't matter. If you're number two number two is the first loser. I said that because there's a bunch of a bunch of bubbles out there that that say dumb stuff like that number to still have one of the greatest seasons in the history of college football. It's just such a difference when you're introduced as the gold medal winner as opposed to the silver medal winner the Heisman Trophy winner as opposed to the Heisman runner up as far as your future. And I'll tell you if it's close then by that slim margin that young man has entered the most exclusive or one of the most exclusive athletic clubs in the world. And right. You just think about bad timing for Dwayne Haskins and two if it's Cuyler or for Cuyler and Dwayne if it's too just like you said any other year these guys are winning the Heisman Trophy, but they all came together in one season. And now there's going to be one Heisman winner we're moments away from it. And if it is Kylie Murray think about the Oklahoma quarterback position. Not just Baker Mayfield and Cuyler Murray. Sam Bradford Jason white. You're talking four different Oklahoma quarterbacks in the span of fifteen years. They can't build those statues quickly norm. And Brad that's a good business to get into. I'm going to I'm going to start investing in statue building companies in Norman, Oklahoma. And look at the credibility that the the what's gimmicky air raid offense now has in the past people said that when you're in the air raid offense, especially in the big twelve the stats. Don't count your success doesn't count. You're a quote unquote system quarterback that always bothered me because every quarterback runs a system every single one. But this air office went from gimmicky to Heisman worthy and with with Baker Mayfield finally breaking through that ceiling once and for all there've been other quarterbacks like Marcus mariota in Oregon that runs some of these formerly gimmicky offense is Tim tebow. I think broke the ceiling from the standpoint of the zone Reed spread offenses. When he won the Heisman with urban Meyer at Florida. But I think that that the air raid finally arrived when Baker Mayfield won it last year. If we if Tyler Moore does win this Heisman Trophy Brad is this kind of similar to when Derrick Henry and Leonard fournette kind of pass the torch, although they were going up against each other. But it was one game that really changed it one day two ships crossing and here it was one game one day. I should say two games, but on the same day, and from there, it just changed. But it was the last game of the season. That's the question is did it happen. So late that it's it's not gonna make enough of a difference for Cuyler Murray. I don't know the answer to that. I guess we're about to find out, but you know, for people who were following the efficiency numbers all season. What was saving to is that he was more efficient than Cuyler Murray? Even though he had a lot fewer plays after that very last game collar Murray finally passed to in the efficiency categories, and to me, that's what made it seem like it would be obvious. But there might be a lot of people who voted before they ever looked at those final stats it almost every. Regain the two played this year is quarterback rating, which is a rating that evaluates what you do through the air and on the ground. When you do it in the impact that it had on the game. One hundred is perfect fifty s average almost every game that to a played he was over ninety out of one hundred in that last game against Georgia in the SEC championship game as quarterback rating was thirty three thirty three. Now, he was injured in the first series and that had a real effect at the same time. People will look at that. And you've got to ask yourself if it affected any of the voters if any of them said, hey, if you played your accountable for your results, even if you're hurt some of them will not give him credit for that some might. I think if he does not win that game. And those numbers might be the thing that drag him down pretty amazing pretty amazing for as precise. And as great as he was before we get to this announcement if you had to pay a Heisman moment for all three of these. Guys, Dwayne has to a tongue lower and Kyle Murray. That phrase gets thrown out a lot. I haven't go back to like Lamar Jackson. What was his is what was in an carrier dome against Syracuse? Yeah. Yeah. So what was it like for two of we got to see him firsthand at LSU was it that long run again. I think he was even hobbled, you know, at the time and still outran ran everybody is kinda funny as much as he did passing any, you know, he he's obviously a good athlete, but he didn't run a lot. But that might have been as most memorable play because of how big the game was. And it was just something that stood out as being different from so many other plays. You know, I think for Dwayne Haskins. I don't know if it was one play. But it was the Michigan game because Ohio State was an underdog, and he just had an amazing performance against a really highly ranked and respected defense and then for Cuyler Murray. He's been such a highlight reel. I have no idea what I would point to. But I'll say this in in a race where little things could make a huge difference. One of the biggest plays for collar Murray was a play when he wasn't on the field. It was a two point conversion attempt by Oklahoma state to possibly win the game in the final minute where the receiver was open very briefly in the past end up being incomplete, I happen to believe that despite everything collar Murray did his numbers would not have changed one bit from what they are right now. But if they had taken a second loss, I don't think we're talking about collar Murray's the favourite. Yeah. I maybe college game against Kansas. He had a seventy five yard touchdown run in a game that they won fifty five to forty Kansas scored forty points, and they lit them up on the ground. Kansas is running game was about three hundred and fifty yards against the Oklahoma defense and color had to make big plays. And think about that seventy five yard run is in and of itself was a huge run in a game that if they had lost all their goals would have been dash, you know, what one of the most impressive things Cuyler did all season to me was in their only loss twenty one points in the fourth quarter against Texas in that first meeting, and he brought them all the way back in tied it with about a minute to go. They end up losing a last second field goal. But what he did in that fourth quarter. I thought was phenomenal even above everything else. He did which which obviously as is at a level that I mean, look, he he he. Outdid Baker Mayfield, and what may feel did a year ago and winning the Heisman? And as a guy who was essentially a first year starter that is it's just difficult to comprehend you your take on Cuyler in terms of his Heisman moment was where I was going to go. He had a Heisman quarter in a game against Texas. Because you think about just how how bag notified blowout. Losses can be not just for the playoff. But even in something like this where okay he just wasn't good enough to bring the team back. You know that when you're thinking about lines of demarcation and separators between candidates like a tour and a Keiler if collar doesn't come back and help with Oklahoma in that fourth quarter, and at least make it respectable. They lose by three on a on a field goal. Ten seconds to go. Hit a touchdown pass yet a sixty seven yard touchdown run. And then led them on another drive and a fifty seven yard drive. And that was in the span of six minutes twenty one points and six minutes, and he led those drives including that one long touchdown run. So I certainly agree with that. Mark ingram. Toby Gerhart was the closest one of all time. And that one felt like it was going to be close. I guess I don't feel that way about this one because I have a stronger feeling that Kylie Murray is gonna win. Who comes in number one will never have to worry about their financial future ever, if they.

"Hallo watch us on Facebook. At inside the huddle w t k. Hey, welcome back to inside the huddle few. I don't know. Maybe like a half hour hour that we're talking about the recurring classes for Ohio State that urban Meyer has had. Which are just incredible will Nick Bumgarner did tweet out the urban Meyer comparison to Michigan comparison over the last seven years, according to the twenty four seven sports composite. So. Every year except for this current recruiting cycles two thousand nineteen Ohio State has been better now. It hasn't been dramatically better. A couple times in two thousand seventeen thousand seventeen recruiting class. Why have state finishing number two? Michigan finished number five. I mean, that's pretty close. And tells in sixteen Ohio State was four and Michigan was eight. But in two thousand fifteen that was Harbaugh's first year he came in late in the game. He was able only able to to nab a couple of players with, you know, the handicap of of I mean, he was hired on January first or December thirty first it didn't have enough time. His class was thirty seven urban was seventh. The year before that his class was while Brady hoax class class was twentieth. Urban was third. So the classes that the teams that made up the recruiting rankings that made up this two thousand eighteen Michigan football team were twenty thirty seven eight five and twenty two. Conversely, the the recruiting classes for Ohio State were three seven four two and two. Yeah. So go that's why I mean, that's you know, that's why I kinda like look at Michigan fans who act like it's like a Harvard is like not good enough. I'm like, well, I don't know about that. Because we also by the way, if you want to save yourself, the the page reloading and things go to the twenty four seven sports team talent composite. We do this every year we compile who's actually on team. So if transfers leave or people transfer five stars leave early or things like that. Still it just factors. Who's on? The team was number one. Michigan was number eight and in that regard. If you look at it like that who's really underachieving this year. No, I don't know that I may saying they're underachieving. But you know, there are thing is is that teams with less tail dooby teams with more talent. Yeah. But go look at the teen town composite and don't tell me that the college football playoff is. Much understand. I understand us. I understand there's still an opportunity. I mean, I get it. And it makes sense. And it's why you consistently. I don't know who who called up and said, but it's why Alabama and Clemson consistently show up in the college ball playoff urban Meyer has three titles are better at recruiting than everybody else and Oklahoma is really good at recruiting. And, but you know, like four to state, I think is fifth in your team composite estate and USC colossally underachieve. It's a culture problem. We'll see if tagger could fix it. Florida state. But that's that's been a joke for about a decade how well USC just naturally recruits. It's like you, and I could recruit top ten classes USC, we really could. And I mean, honestly, they might not they could probably not have a coach and Selva top ten recruiting class. And but they just haven't had a coach that can that can win since Pete Carroll. Really? Yeah. Yeah. No sneezed out a couple eleven when seasons because it's just that easy. Right. So the composite top teams are alabam Ohio states one Alabama, Georgia USC, Florida state, Clemson LSU, Michigan taxes Notre Dame. Notre Dame's in the in that mix this year. I mean, I think every team you listed except for Florida state and UNC and USC had a very good season. This year. But Oklahoma is number eleven and the team compiles rankings. Okay. They got they got a got a former five-star core. I mean, that's the other thing is like I don't need. I understand. That's why Lincoln Riley is being looked at us. NFL coaches. You say if you say, I understand one more time, I agree. No. Anyway, you got to recruit at that level. And then you gotta be you. Gotta have a great coaching staff and honestly for Michigan beat Ohio State regularly. I think will have state needs to fall from number one spot. I gotta be they gotta be more in that four or five ballpark. Well, I mean, they're class right now, as I mentioned, you know, Michigan at this moment is number seven in Ohio State is number eleven the classes are not done yet. But if Michigan picks up Zac Harrison, they're going to get boosted again. And so if they Zach Harrison, it might be difficult for Ohio State to have a better class this year. I think this the Ohio states classes already kind of do for a drop off partly because they can't sell instant playing time because they've got guys like Barron Browning former five star linebacker. They've got Chris young former star defensive end they've got fives. I mean, they've got basically every position. So. So other than receiver. And I think they've got maybe the best receiver in the twenty nine thousand class coming in Garrett Wilson, maybe I'd have to look it up but other than receiver they really in in maybe quarterback, they can't really sell playing time. And so this is an opportunity in Michigan to their credit has done a nice job. Getting a lot of guys that I think could be your one impact players. At the beginning of the class. They were kind of looking for like diamonds in the rough ground Florida job. Oh types who like two years from now might be beasts. But then they've started shifting and this is the plan shifting toward getting some of these Primo possible day one starters because this is a class that can be good because you're going to have that attrition. Well, certainly be interesting to see signing day. I guess is not next one. Is as the nineteenth. Yes. So we were as little head of ourselves Maher talking about it for next next Wednesday the nineteenth. There is a list at the Michigan insider, you can read all the players that are expected to sign and there are expected to enroll early including Dexter and hill is expected to sign. He's I don't think it's Saturday is expected to enroll early but he is expected to sign now. So which would make Michigan fans, very happy. If you can get the the elite guys to all sign Chardonnay Hinton hill. Yeah. That will make you feel significantly better. Yeah. I mean, the three three top fifty recruits. Yeah. Charbonnet has moved up in the composite the twenty four seven sports composite. I think over forty two twenty five in our specific rankings? It's the other our competitors. That were a little slower on him. Also going on right now. There's a commitment kids deciding between Michigan state or Duke Vernon Carey, Jerry. He's not a one and done type. Little surprise that. Michigan state's finding itself in this one. But. I wouldn't be surprised votes Duke. I don't know. I don't know what the Christobal says. But all right when we come back Heisman Trophy is coming up this weekend. Three people have been named finalists Dwayne Haskins Cuyler Murray and to a Tagliatela who is our pick to win the Heisman Trophy. And who do we think differently than who is our pick? Who do you think is going to win the Heisman Trophy? Hold on sports talk. Ten fifty w.

"I got about six of them that are gonna make the tree the top. Ten ornaments sent in. We will send out these sold out DP show calendar. Everybody's got to have it. You didn't know it. But everybody's got to have one already eagles beat the Redskins. They lose Colt McCoy. Roy for the season with a broken leg. Mark Sanchez come on down that didn't go. Well, the Redskins didn't even have plays for Mark Sanchez. It got in there and look lost. Steph Curry's back the nuggets and the clippers are in first place in the west surprise surprise Heisman finalists. No surprise here. Dwayne Haskins Cuyler Murray and Tuitonga Bilo are your three going to New York. And I mentioned this as a voter on the Heisman. It's how many votes these candidates get, and there's a cutoff level of how many you're going to send a New York. Now, I would love if they had four or five every year they've got to go just through the experience will Greer from West Virginia. If you're going to extend it to five, and then sometimes you're going to get a wildcard thrown in there as well. And that would be fun. And I think it's better for the presentation in college football to have five candidates there. Even though you probably only have two that are going to buy for this honor. And that is Cuyler Murray into a Tonga Bi-Lo, and we'll look at those numbers because you have to factor in what they did against quality. Opponents of the fact that has been bothered by an ankle injury. The last couple of weeks and that he's playing against better defenses. But Cuyler Murray's got it. Thank the big. If I'm Kyle Murray. I get up there if I win inside the first of all like the the big twelve defenses because I wouldn't be up here without you. Thank you. Thank you. So very much already. Mclovin. You got a poll question for me. We'll talk about the Heisman here in a moment. We'll dive into the Ohio State situation is well, well, the first question that we're all asking over here is about the Ohio State question. Okay. Basically will urban Meyer retired for good or coach again. I don't I don't know. I guess my speculation would be he's he's relatively young to be retiring. He's done this before I guess that. I would look at Bob stoops in Bob stoops stepping down in Oklahoma. And we keep waiting for Bob stoops to come back. And I know that there have been rumors about Bob stoops if Davos Sweeney left, Clemson would Bob stoops go there and stoops said, no, no that's not happening here coaches rarely retire in stay retired. They're like, boxers. They're just waiting for somebody to call them. But Bill cower Bill cower realized he had a great job CBS in stayed there. Gruden couldn't stay retired from coaching Jimmy Johnson found out that he got a good gig there at FOX, and why would you give that up, and he seems like the one of the happiest guys I've ever met, but is urban it feel urban is one of those that he feels like he he only coaches I may go back to the SPN and be an analyst. I wouldn't be surprised right after the Rose Bowl. He steps right into the booth around the set with the game day guys and analyzes the final four national title game. Wouldn't be surprised at all does that mean he wants to go back to that? I have no idea. I don't know urban. We've had him on many times. I believe we'll have him on one more time here before he decides to step down. And it feels like there's semantics going on is he stepping down or is. He retiring because I've seen different stories that will say he's stepping down a final game retiring. Now retiring has some finality to it stepping down. Doesn't mean you're going to be walking away from coaching final game. Final game at Ohio State once again dealing with semantics here, I go back to Paul finebaum on urban Meyer. This is after the loss to Purdue where they lost four forty nine to twenty and find bombs been suggesting as I have that he thought that urban Meyer was done for the season. I remember earlier in the year. Even when he came back after everything that happened. And I thought that he probably should have been suspended the entire season or at least half the season there, but he came back. And I just thought he does not look like he's happy he looked miserable. And then we find out there's health issues there. But this is what finebaum said after the Purdue loss. I just don't think urban Meyer has the makeup to deal with much more adversity. I think it's who urban Meyer is when things get tough. He runs away in quits. Well, if it's health related, I don't know if you're running away in quitting as far as everything that's gone on at Ohio State prior to the start of this season. Yeah. There was a lot of baggage there. Also, some people tweeting me saying, do you think the committee kept Ohio State out because the urban Meyer situation in the baggage? I don't have any inside information other than what I told you yesterday. I don't think the committee wanted Ohio State in. I think that there was a better chance that Georgia would get back in then Ohio State, Ohio state's not a feel good story. Even though you. You got a quarterback who might be the best quarterback in America. The best pro prospect in America. Dwayne Haskins has a chance to be a top five pick. But the season didn't start well here, and then you weren't rooting for Ohio State. And then you're watching state begrudgingly. And then all of a sudden, they're captain leaves urban Meyer looks miserable in the sidelines, and then they blow out Michigan. And then all of a sudden, I think people's eyes opened up wider to say. Are we missing something here? And I'm not talking about urban Meyer. I'm talking about Haskins. I think Haskins is and I'm trying to get more information on this with my NFL scout. Here's a chance to be the number one pick in the draft. Yes. He's that good. But it doesn't it feels like we were caught up into a and Cuyler Murray, even will Greer West Virginia. You know, we were looking at other quarterbacks and Haskins has been a great story. And I'm glad that he got invited to New York because this is not always been a pass happy team. And he made them a legitimate spread offense wide open. We can put up sixty two on Michigan. Yeah. Fritzy? And to whatever extent the committee didn't want the buckeyes to get into the final four. They kind of got bailed out because they didn't deserve to be in there. Anyway, whether it was going to be Georgia, Oklahoma. There was really no way. You can argue that Ohio State should be one of those fourteen. But there was the possibility there they put up a big number against north western Oklahoma happened to lose. But I thought that Georgia might have had a better chance than Ohio State to get in. Everyone's going to speculate on this until urban Meyer speaks, but I wonder if for Gallagher Meyer sought at three game suspension and looks at a guy like Patino and says, you know, what I may have escaped one last time here in my career is going to end is a pretty well respected coach very successful. And I don't want to go out like Rick Pitino and I may have gotten a hall. Pass this year. And maybe I'll leave I own terms coaches always coach he's gonna coach against that's what they do. The odds are I don't know. It's an anomaly to not coach. Yeah. But how many have health issues he's got assist in his brain Pacino? Didn't have that. You know that that's what has to be factor in. And I think that's the hard thing to handicap here with urban Meyer. How healthy is he because I didn't think he looked healthy at all on the sidelines. And he wore his health on his sleeve this year. I'm watching a you know, I am at the Ohio State Michigan game. And I'm on Michigan sideline. As far as the stands. Go looking at urban. I watched him for probably a quarter of the game. I I'm just watching to see how he's. Almost reacting on the sidelines, and he was demonstrative he was animated. He was bending at the hip. He had his head down. I mean, he just didn't look healthy. And I think that would be the keys you move forward. And what is urban Meyer? You're not even fifty five. So you would think there might be another opportunity. Speculations already started that. Well, hey, what about him going to the Cleveland Browns? I don't I mean, I'm be the most shock person on the planet. If urban Meyer coaches again coaches in the NFL, although it would be kind of interesting to have him coaching Baker Mayfield after Mayfield planted the flag, Ohio State after Oklahoma beat the buckeyes. I don't see that happening you want more headaches, you want more problems you want less job security, come on down coach in the NFL. Speaking of which Aaron Rodgers Aaron Rogers says that well, maybe he'll have some kind of role input in. The next head coach for the Green Bay Packers. But then the Packers say, no, he's not gonna have any if you're the Packers. You have to say this. You wanna protect Aaron Rodgers. Because of Aaron Rodgers goes, hey, I signed off on this guy. And then the guy's not very good. And then it's on Aaron Rodgers that. Hey, that's the guy you wanted here. Here's Aaron saying he's not involved in the job. Search obviously an older player in the league. I still have a number of years on my contract. Forty. I think there's an interest on who the next guy would be. But I'm not needing to be involved in that process. I think you might want to be involved just a little bit. I think it's a must lie deceive situation here. I think you you'd not going to go. Yeah. I want to be involved or I'm going to be involved. I don't believe it for a second. Because the reason why we're here is because Aaron Rodgers and Mike McCarthy didn't see eye to eye that Rogers reportedly was changing most of the plays that Mike McCarthy sent in the reason why there's a disconnect, and you two didn't get along is is the reason why Mike McCarthy has been fired here. Rogers did hint that he'll Abbas say on the next head coach at age thirty five how long do you wanna play, and you I'm sure you'd wanna play if you bring in somebody? And can we stop with his Sean McVay stuff? You gotta get the not next Sean McVay who was who was the first Sean McVay, Sean McVay, but. Who was that prior to that lane kiffin? No, are you sure know lane kiffin broke the mold and then got run out. Yeah. He wasn't successful. So why do I want the next lane? Kiffin? You're looking for the next Sean McVeigh who was who was Sean McVay before Sean McVay. Yes. See everybody's looking for the next Sean McVay not thinking of all the lane kiffin that happened before. Yeah. That's really the problem is everybody's like no the move is just for these young guys who understand. But this probably a lot of young guys that haven't worked out. I know Brad Stevens, I know basketball Brad, St. no, no, I think by Tom was youngest coach ever at one point. I mean he worked, but that's a little different. Yeah. He went to a great franchise with a team that was already a contender. But this whole we got to find the next Sean lane broke, the mold like he broke it like the mold was broken after that. Nobody wanted to do that. Yeah. But he wasn't the right guy to hire. But you can't hire a guy younger than Aaron Rodgers to coach, right? Why would Aaron Rodgers listen to them? That's why I find this whole next, Sean McVeigh thing. Confusing for him. You're not finding the next Sean McVay. Okay. First of all if you're looking for the next Sean McVeigh, good luck, you need to find the right guy for your team and stop looking at his age. All you got to find somebody under thirty five. No, no. You don't. Yeah. See you want the next Sean McVay for the Browns, but not for the Packers probably right to work with Baker Mayfield. Seem to make more sense. Yes. Mean Lincoln Riley, head coach at Oklahoma. Is I think four months older than Aaron Rodgers? Okay. Errands going to go, what do you what do, you know about the NFL? How can you make me better? Where's Baker and Lincoln Riley? If that happened in Cleveland, they know each other they can grow together. And I think that's that's where I see Josh mcdaniels in Green Bay because he's worked with Brady work with Bela. Check offense should minded guy, and you probably have mutual respect when you walk in. And there would be a little more equal footing their benef- Lincoln Riley came in. Yeah. Fritzy is it completely unfair to suggest that after that game. And you lose at home where like you were like undefeated to the cardinals that there was some kind of conversation made between iron Rogers, and the powers that be where he was so frustrated that he may have made a call a reached out to someone in front of saying this has to end now, I can't I don't know. I have no idea if Rogers is not involved in the job search, then why why am I going to kind of look at him and Sarah. You've got the power to be able to get Mike McCarthy fired midseason. Yeah. Mclovin. One name that you're hanging a lot Josh mcdaniels. That's another name. I'm not sure about because all the patriots coaches have at such a mixed bag is Josh mcdaniels. That's people are talking about like, that's the that's the target to would he help air Rogers. I would think that you would at least have. Now, here's Rogers who is kind of picked up this TB twelve motto and routine. And so if you're gonna do it, then why wouldn't you just bring in Josh mcdaniels? If you want to kind of emulate what Brady's done here bringing gronkowski sounds like. Oh. He would he would gronk. He sounds like a Packer offense lineman. But no, you don't wanna bring in. No. You don't want that Josh mcdaniels forty-two? Okay. All right. Yeah. Lincoln Riley think is four months older than Aaron Rodgers already. We'll come up with a poll question. Let's see anything else needs to be mentioned here. Looking at the danettes. There's blank stares. Yes. Paulie where we're chopping up. Why late and banned rash has Vander ashes not one. Yeah. This one paulie came into man. I got to get an answer to this. Now, there's a lot of stuff going on this morning. And then we're talking about last night's game with the Redskins Colt McCoy, broken leg. Politics bizarrely serious like I had a friend who wasn't that close with them..

"Always look for those baby face moments when Jeff came out of that and grabbed the chair that was his opportunity to go ballistic, and it's gonna blow you up, but if you have a minute and a half of just going to town, that's when you can pull in audience ENC's pot of awesomeness, downloaded free and easy. Wherever you get your podcast from the Westwood One podcast network. It now. From Arlington, Texas. So and we're gonna get into all of the bowl games, as you know, obviously it progresses, and we'll get into more than that. Let's go back to Dennis Dodd. So where were we hear so Georgia? That would have been a two losses and two SEC teams, and they would have had backlash Oklahoma. Obviously, we looked at it this way, they got revenge on a team that beat them in overtime that they rallied twenty one and that game in the first meeting, and then they beat their ass the second time around so really in essence, I don't see what the argument is ended up with one loss, and they avenged a tough loss against a tough team. And then Ohio State got their asked by Purdue. And no one cares that they beat Michigan's ass. No. I think he just said I think the tiebreaker was that Ohio State lost to Purdue? And it's happened two years in a row now last year, it was Iowa. I will give you that. It was the second loss of the season last year. But it's still explicable flies Sicily losing to very mediocre big ten team on the road. And that thing that's pretty who lost around the neck like a. Stinky role of cheese or something? Would produce an emerging program? I don't care what they say about Jeff Brown at the moment after they beat by twenty three barely qualified for bowl. So it it stuck with that kept him out. Do you think that that guy speaking at Purdue that he did the right thing? Stay in their city of Louisville brom-. Yeah. I'm I'm at the national football foundation gathering here in New York this week round like that. Ask people. Why would that not a good fit and people are saying he saw Moore upside it, so you can get more done as loyalty to them. He didn't wanna leave after a couple of years, and frankly Louisville's in upheaval, we know the basketball deal their body, Katrina. Oh, I don't know what he laughs. I don't think it's very good. So if he wants to go back to mobile he can go there any time in his career. He's gonna stay with Purdue and see how good he can get there. I don't know. So. Cuyler and Dwayne Haskins Cuyler Murray, of course to attack and Haskins going into yard for the Heisman. Now that it's now that it's down to Cuyler who do you think gets it? I think it's I can Kyle gets it. I did my sample ballots today on the site. And I this is almost changes in the last week or two obviously to ahead. His worst game of his career Saturday got injured. Kyla Murray is if you pick the blog. Body of work a mirror image of and maybe a little better numbers overall or batteries more accurate. These number two or number one in the country. That's going to set another NCAA record as accounts with fifty one touchdown. Human brain Haskins accounted for fifty one touchdowns. Each is the most dynamic player in the country, especially with not with the knee. And now the ankle I think it till store down Dennis Dodd what is what did you think of Jalen hurts a story and just that whole scene, and how ironic it was and what he pulled off on Saturday. It was a Disney movie. I mean, that's the best way to put it. You can't put it any other way. The backup quarterback if the guy who lost a job and now gonna come back and win the game. The same way almost losses last year. It was amazing. Anything bad about it. Yeah. I I walked off the next day last person to walk up, and he just should he Lord is and shook it and just that same field. Same thing results quarterback. I can't believe it. You couldn't scripted it better. That's why college sports football is so much better than the pros. Scotty, we could do a whole show on that. He just don't get that. The NFL was great. So Scott Satterfield ended up getting Louisville job from Appalachian state. And let's talk about these games now. So if you were to tell me right now ahead of time before these playoff games, Clemson and Notre Dame at the Cotton Bowl, who do you like that one? I like I like clubs and because of their team speed I believe in Notre Dame. I believe they should be in there when they went to Ian, Burke, the game for that was a change that offense thirteen taxes elite get Hillary tranquil all those guys can run down to anybody. I think in general Notre game last the beat anybody in the field right now. And I'm not saying, I'm right to despair. The spirit and trying to give you a breakdown Trevor Lawrence. I think we'll card. Receivers are great Travis ACN tailback is one of the back. Underrated running backs in the country. And oh, by the way, he sets the blind might be the best ever. So that's a pretty good places thought. So in the night cabinet, Hardrock, Oklahoma and Alabama. Not knowing what the quarterback situation is. Or if he'll be okay by them. We don't know what the deal is with two thirds have he blaze. Anyway, do you think they're two touchdowns better than Oklahoma been sort of the fire today and yesterday, I think Oklahoma's gonna win the game? I think they're going to win the tournament. Wow. We're in a different era. I might be wrong. But I think what is different era of college football Oklahoma student last year where it's so hard to play defense these days in Oklahoma pretty mad at hundred h in the country. The worst worst worst offensive numbers thirteen ever the Players Championship. But I think they're very comfortable tried outscore people and win fifty to forty. We saw that the pigs. Well, obviously, Alabama has weapons too. But I think this is their time. I think Kyla Murray versus it's one of the three premium match up at the play offs. So I I like I think they can win it. Wow. Who do you think wins that Michigan Florida game in the doctor? I think the. The sidebars are more intriguing there. I mean just have to win a game when they lost at highest invalidated everything they done this. She defense Farner getting over on on Notre Dame and being being the rival Michigan state. I don't know we're making right now in in Florida nice team. But they're kind of a nine and three they're to be great things to come for for Florida. But I I don't think they're there yet. But I think it's all on. It's all on you gotta win that game. Try to get the bad taste of the. Anything that's not gonna happen. I mean, I don't know how you ever live down because he beat everybody else. It was their revenge tower. But then they got their speed. And so no one's gonna forget that on New Year's day. You got several games Mississippi State and Iowa, you know, honestly, I wouldn't want around the corner to see that game. No, I know about eight million of those games out there next six Gerald. I thought Joe Moorhead would become a better thrower. He he's still good Broderick over thousand yards the top winning quarterback in in the SEC. And I was just like eighty five every year. I just ahead. Okay. You know, then and then Kirk fans gets another race. So what about the UCF LSU game? You would think LSU would be able to handle them. But how about that team two years in a row? They didn't lose a game. It's interesting because there's already. Twitter outcry messy fan telling LSU you've got one job. And this what I hear. They don't wanna hear about UCSE in the playoffs. They don't wanna hear about the winning streak. They want to use the SEC dominance to beat UCF may happen. Now. The McKenzie Milton is out I think that UCF absolutely deserves to be there. I think they can beat anybody around them and about them. Maybe except Alabama because because nobody can beat out there. I just told you Oklahoma. Well, but. No, I I think they can compete with anybody. You put in. I think they're that. Good. I think if anything their story is underrated h change coaches. They changed the entire staff. They had the same players and just kept winning. I think that's amazing. But the kid MAC the quarterback is pretty good today against after. She was. Yeah. I think he'll run for his life against LSU though. I'll be shocked if he can beat them a dentist grade stuff. Always a pleasure. Having you on a band. Enjoy all the ball games and the playoff. It's good talking to you again. Thank you. CBS sports dot com. One other one state Washington should be interesting. That's the Rose Bowl the Sugar Bowl, Georgia and Texas.
