We talked about a reunion trip during one of these off seasons. And it felt like we had time. Look, guys, life is short. Enjoy it. Make sure you tell the people you love that you love them. Make sure they know you love them. Try to do good, hope for happiness and, man, don't take this brilliant opportunity. We have on Planet Earth. Don't take it for granted. Life is precious. This is a very sad story. I saw Dwayne Haskins died and I was like, man, dad way too young. And I don't know. I would have loved to talk to him. He's the kind of person. That's the kind of person I want to interview in the sports world. The person who goes to Washington, the first round pick, and it doesn't work out. How does that affect you? What do you learn from that? I would have loved to meet the guy. And hear about his journey. I'm sure a wild roller coaster of a journey and high highs and low lows and the world can learn from a person with that kind of story. And I'm really sad he's gone and I'll never be able to interview him. It wasn't really on the table anyway, but I'm telling you, there was something there with that guy that will never we'll never learn more. And that's what makes me really sad. Now, I have more human stuff to talk about, but there's been an interesting debate in the wake of his death that I don't know why we had to have this the day of his death, but it happened. We got to talk about it, I guess. There's been an interesting debate about how will Dwayne Haskins be remembered? I saw a really toxic side of our society. When the news broke Saturday morning that Dwayne Haskins had died. People were saying stuff like, who cares? He's a bust. It's wildly inappropriate. And insensitive. I don't know. I think of those people and I'm not really mad at them. I don't really have any anger. I just don't have the energy to get mad at people anymore. But I go, man. How did we screw up so badly that someone can die and you're like, flippantly don't care about it? And I think the reality is that we treat athletes like Madden characters in just a video game or sports cards you hold or just numbers and fantasy football. No, no, no, these are people. Human beings. And Dwayne Haskins accomplished a lot. I mean, a lot on the football field. More than most people who will ever play the quarterback position. Certainly more than you and probably certainly more than me, probably more than you. I don't know how many people are listening that have accomplished the stuff I'm about to say. Dwayne Haskins was an NFL quarterback who made millions of dollars, he was a starter at the Ohio State university. He was the rose bowl MVP. "Down to work on a topic to talk about Aaron Rodgers and I was going to call it. I was wrong about Aaron Rodgers and I sat down and I watched the video I made six months ago and I went you know what I'm making good points everything I said, I agree with some like well, I'm a hard place cuz I stayed in Rogers wasn't Elite I called. I don't know. I don't know how I'd finally anymore. I guess is the point and I we saw DeShaun Watson do really good stuff in Houston pin on it's horrible team and have a temp work. So what I learned from Deshaun Watson this year is that it's on a lot more than just the quarterback to win football games. And so I maybe I'll make a video about Enron. I just I don't know. I'm in a weird spot where I thought Aaron Rodgers had a great team around him last year had a bunch of weapons a good defense and took forever. We've said about Aaron Rodgers. He just needs a good team around him and he got a good team around him and he didn't win a Superbowl and that for me it was a very weird thing and I said, well, what about the years of marriage is playing badly. Now, I'm way more forgiving of the bad years of Aaron Rodgers because we saw an amazing quarterback DeShaun Watson window support do terrible. So if you don't give a great quarterback a good team and a good coach, you're not going to win a lot. Even if a call back is Aaron Rodgers of the Sean Watson, so I'm more forgiving of the bad gears, but I still think it's weird that we continue to make excuses, you know, more and more excuses about well, Aaron Rodgers doesn't have a great receiving off or you know, he's got a great defense a great coach got Davante Adams a good running game. "Anyway, it's not a lot of head coaches are I go that guy's a home run and if you're of all the guys who I didn't think we're very good. Anyway, you're the guy I didn't even know about it's kind of weird kind of consumer, but I'm not trying to be I'm not sure who my own horn. We'll see what happens with Dan with Dan Campbell to bring him in the lines had to give them a six-year contract to show him some commitment because of their past and you know Detroit has been known for firing coaches prematurely for not giving them a great chance to succeed and pulling the rug out from under them. And so I don't think anybody wanted this job the Detroit Club. Houston Texans are two jobs that Texans depending on DeShaun Watson and their quarterback situation. A lot of people don't appear to want the lines or Houston job and I will say I think Houston did a good thing now they have to be back and have to give Dan Campbell time to make it work and basically any potential head coach of the Detroit Lions. Just doesn't trust the ownership in Detroit. They're like we're not coming there cuz you're going to fire us emotionally not really give us a fair chance. And if they ever want to get a great head coach years from now, even whether Iraq is that or not? We'll find out but if they ever want to rebuild their franchise that have to give this head coach Dan Campbell patience and time to develop and really I think giving Dan Campbell a guy named not really well known who was not really in the next we head coach giving him a six-year contract really does show how bad the Detroit Lions organization it's not because it's a reflection of Dan Campbell because it shows they were almost desperate and they really had too heavily commit to get him there and get anybody there now Dan Campbell played in the NFL from 1999 to 2009. He was actually I thought could have been the head coach the next year in Miami home. And since 2016 has been in New Orleans and I just go back to in Miami. Hey, he finished really strong as interim head coach now I listen to Dan Campbell's Factory introductory, press conference. And here's what I heard. I heard a guy who was genuinely happy to be in Detroit. He's a guy who played in Detroit. He knows the city. He likes it there with a guy maybe he's a crazy person. I don't buy in Detroit necessarily very attractive. But hey, he likes it and good on him and I have heard that downtown Detroit can be really really Pleasant very very nice and found a reference to Dan Campbell did in his interview made a reference to biting a kneecap and.

I'm very concerned about birth. Asking so I don't mean to be a Debbie Downer. I really hope that Dwayne Haskins can seize the moment can realize this is an amazing opportunity. They're going to double down a Big Bend draft him help kind of the opposite of what the Green Bay Packers did dropping Jordan love home way before Aaron Rodgers is done the Steelers like we're going to hang onto the bed until he is a corpse and it's nothing left then worry about replacing him and it's really a one-year try out for Dwayne Haskins and and Pittsburgh really to find out whether or not In Haskins can be the future moving forward or not. "Raiders lost to miami. Las vegas raiders are now seven and eight. They missed the playoffs again. This year and the blame has got to go on. Jon gruden their head. Coach I i like jon gruden. I think there have been moments where he's done a good job preparing his team to play. I thought the highlight of the year for las vegas. Raiders was beating the kansas city chiefs. They looked very well prepared. That a great game plan But again this loss to miami coach. The recent failures by the raiders has to go on. Jon gruden you're gonna blame jon gruden for the loss. Make sure you do it for the right reason. So all the attention after this game has gone onto john. Gruden's late dame decision making against miami. Where the raiders had the ball first and goal on the eight yard line with a minute and fifty five seconds left. And the raiders chose to not score a touchdown they had. I mean they first of all they had the running back. Josh jacobs literally taking the other one yard line that he slid down to avoid scoring and did not want a touchdown would have given them a six point lead because they had they were down gas. Were down twenty four twenty five so they didn't want to have a six point lead. They wanted to take as much time off the clock as possible then on third and goal derek carr literally kneeled to continue to run the clock down and they kicked field goal. Giving them a twenty five to twenty three lead with nineteen seconds. Left in the game and people are critical. The strategy like you should have done other stuff. You should've taken the touchdown you should've done. Whatever coulda woulda should say whatever you want to say. I don't think this is the reason to criticize john. Gruden every once in a while you have a strategy. That is a good strategy. That simply doesn't work. I play video. What is it not a tabletop. Game like a board game called settlers of catan a giant nerd and my family. We all play during christmas. And i had a great strategy of putting my game pieces on the the number eight. Meaning that if you have to you have a high percentage chance of rolling in eight like you would think yeah. It's literally six and eight or two of the highest six eight and seven like the highest possible. Things could roll when you're rolling. Two dice and eighths just never got role but i waited and waited my whole strategy revolves around rolling eight with these two dice. And it didn't happen. And i don't know this the probability or whatever. I just know that on paper. That's a good strategy. Like eight gets rolled all the time and this game. It was an anomaly. It didn't happen and that happens sometimes every once in a while you good strategy that for one reason or another. There's an anomaly. And it doesn't work out

"The washington football team released their quarterback dwayne haskins. He's a second year quarterback out of ohio state and it's pretty rare for a guy drafted in the first round to be. I mean especially at quarterback drafted in the first round to be released less than two full years into their career. It's kinda crazy almost never happens. And i really use the word. Almost is funny. 'cause i almost didn't want to even make this topic. I almost didn't wanna talk about it. And i'm like i have to because people are going to want to hear an updated thought of some kind. I've covered dwayne haskins a lot this year in the offseason. I feel like i've talked to him. A bunch and the reality is that i could tell you that. He's he made mistakes here and there and i could list all the things. He's done wrong but the reality is between twain. Haskins just makes me very very sad disappointed and man. I like low key. He dug his own. Dwayne haskins made mistakes off the field. He made mistakes on the field. Poor play poor decision making in every facet of his career and like he was a guy who was immature off the field. If he got in trouble had code violations had all kinds of stuff he like unprepared. Week-to-week playing games. I don't know what's going on with the guy. I wondered at times where his dad because you would think somebody would be in his ear telling. Hey jude you gotta understand the opportunity you've been given in the nfl. And dwayne haskins is a guy who has a lot of talent who only started one year in college. You came in a little bit. I think too early to the nfl and clearly was unprepared for the responsibility of being nfl quarterback. And i don't know how you look at this. It doesn't make you sad because it's a guy again who it's a missed opportunity. And i know people are angry and washington fans or like screw. This guy he look on human being level. I i look at him and go man. He's going to have a hard journey like he's he's very rich and that's really cool I know he bought his mama house. I hope he bought it in cash. I hope it's paid for. I don't know. I think he's going to have a hard journey. I don't know whether he's gonna get another opportunity on another team. You would think that some teams going to take a chance on him. But the biggest red flag you can have for a quarterback is that he's not a good decision maker that he's immature off the field and he appears to be that kind of guy who like throws the ball well enough to be an nfl quarterback but throwing the ball is not at all what it takes to be a quarterback and I i don't know man. It's concerning. I know that when he came into the league the rumor was that the owner wanted him but the coaching staff did not add. It was kind of a a problem from the start and dwayne haskins. Fourteen years ago which was in my first year as general manager of the jets and six. I drafted to offense offensive in the first round to birkenshaw ferguson. And nick mangold. I think it starts up front. It's really hard to evaluate. Sam darnold s trevor alluded to earlier in the show. Because it's just been between scheme changes. Coaching changes below average offensive line. It's hard to evaluate him. So i would take swell. I would put him at right tackle. I would keep back a very promising first round pick and i would start with their because if you could fortify your offensive line at least that gives you a foundation to build on and see what you have with sam darnold. I've been a little disappointed with justin fields last couple of weeks. He's strong against indiana struggle northwestern. He's very intriguing. Prospect to me but i just don't know if he's incrementally that much better than sam darnold that's why would draft the tackle from oregon and then build from there.
