The crumple zone is what we now call. The himalayas and the cannabis plants that were growing in that zone. Got really really high and the ones that were stuck down low the plains near the himalayas. Well they didn't get quite so high is difference is both topographical and literal the cannabis. The grew in the mountainous region started producing thc. "To learn more so the colts looking for old line help that just reached a one year deal with left tackle. Eric fisher who was telling adam schefter the deal worth up to nine point four million and of course india needed a left tackle after anthony retired in january spoke with. Espn's injury experts the. Find your bell today. She said in recent years people coming off the tilles injuries which is exactly what they're dealing with with. Visser actually been able to return within a six to nine month timeframe without complications more on that in a moment because that timelines really really important so of course now you're looking at carson wentz liking this move considering. He was sacked a league high fifty times. Despite playing in only twelve games of the eagles last season he joined the offense that had the second lowest sack rate in the league last year. Protecting philip rivers keep in mind bo- teams and test him too much indie face the six lowest blitz rate in the league that might change with wins taking over under center field. A little more context again on the injury perspective from stephania bell on this I mentioned that guys coming back within that six to nine month. Timeframe part of the reason is The surgery was done by dr robert anderson and he's basically pioneered a surgical technique with achilles injuries helped and basically it's a smaller incision less risk of infection. Better wound healing. So the timeline here looks favourable but if you think this and the way that the colts culture approaching it give us some context on what timeline in your mind really looks like yeah laura so first of all if you're not falling along with to find your bells injury now you might as well not pay attention to injury. Now's at all. She's the best in the business question about that. For the colts. There is a little bit of a fine line here. Though you're right the players have made returned within six to that within that. Six to nine month timeline. That being said eric fisher is in his early thirties now. Of course he was the first overall pick in the two thousand thirteen nfl draft. He's a big body human right. He plays left tackle for a living. And let's just look back before we look forward achieves understanding their offensive line issues new. The eric fisher was uncertain to begin the season which is part of the reason why they moved off on from fisher and eventually traded for orlando brown junior but with the colts after the draft had passed and they did not have obvious solution on their roster. They finally strike a deal. With eric fisher and laura details really telling because it's worth up to nine point four million dollars but you'd imagine the colts who can afford to be patient a little bit on this one because they signed sam. Debbie probably incorporated plenty of per game roster bonuses and incentives for eric fisher to make that full nine point four million. Yeah one more note fronts defining. The colts are clearly comfortable with managing guys coming off of post achilles injuries and marlon. Mack tore his achilles last season. He signed a one year deal with the colts in free agency. Also they drafted day odinga in the second round. That's the vanderbilt dean who tore his achilles in january. That was not long before fisher. So ryan how do you think this team. These colts actually rank the afc south. Considering all of this i think the best team and you i know my my mean economy is going to come on here after she's gonna do with seat normally dues because you all set her up and she's already to attack me but i think that this is the best team in the afc south even going back to last year when you look at the way that they play defensively. Now you at a rusher in the first round with michigan's pay and what you do offensively. You're going to run the football land by jonathan taylor we're not asking carson wentz to come out and being great every game we're asking carson wentz to be great in moments to protect the football throughout the game when we need some of that athletic stuff when we need some of that number two overall draft picks up you bring that out. This team is going to be led by by darius leonard by kenny moore by deforest buckner. Those are going to be the guys that lead this team carson. Wentz is going to have to make plays when called upon. And frank right has to control that frank right has to put him in the best position and i believe that he will at the end of this season. Ruin a look at the. Afc south and say remember. What didn't off season on. A beautiful may day when the biggest news was tim. Signing to the jacksonville it's going to be the. Afc south was won by the indianapolis colts. While are telling you my opinions before the show because you're trying to eight mile me and anticipate my. Hey before i get so mom spaghetti. I'm going to actually say something that. Maybe you didn't expect that. I agree with you. I think the coal targeting to win the afc south. Because i think the afc south is bad. I just don't think that the colts are legitimate contenders along with the chiefs the ravens. The browns the bills in the afc largely. Because what. I look at this offense. I don't see where they got better like. We're talking about the eric fisher signing and if he can come back earlier rather than later. That's going to be huge. After the retirement of anthony towns left tackle but man until he comes back. That is a problem for an offensive line. And that's critical because the number one reason why carson wentz struggled at the end of his tenure philadelphia was because of pressure was because of all the injuries along that offense at line. Now you're asking him to come to a new team and sousa to take his career behind the line that yes. It's better but it's still missing left. Tackle the beginning of the season. They also didn't really improve the skill players they brought back. Ty and i've thought they would draft a wide receiver higher or go out and sign win free agency. They did it so again. The corporate good team is the really good organization with great coaches. But when i look at the depth chart on offense. I don't feel that much better than i did last year. You guys anymore. Eight mile lyrics to get off our chest before we move on. Okay i gave you the opportunity so if any of the show all right eric fisher is off the market feel. Let's read and react to some other free agents still waiting to sign. Let's start with richard sherman. Yeah that's right. Laura who can link to a few teams the raiders the saints the forty niners and even his old flame the seahawks german. Probably the most notable name that remains a free agent off the market. a guy. who's going to bring competitiveness. His gonna bring leadership. Dude can still play as well. He's showed it during the twenty nine thousand nine season in particular. Yeah listen for me. I wanna see richard sherman. Go back to san francisco. D'amico ryan has taken over for the departed. Dc there robert salah. But i think that is the leadership that they need. Especially if you go to a young trae lance now you have somebody to get that defense moving. You have the pass rush back with some of those injured pass. Russia's return and richard sherman is the key to the back end another seok one who has never left. Seattle's caveat ride still laura guy who's been a heart and soul player for them on defense for close to a decade now not many linebackers. I don't any as a matter of fact they're out there that are available right now. That are better. But the fact that he hasn't yet found deal suggest perhaps they return to seattle. Make some sense. I agree that it returns to seattle makes a lot of sense for k. J. who in his early thirties is coming off of one of if not the best season of his career after switching to sam in that seahawk fan linebacker seahawks defense now i would have picked dallas before the draft but they ended up taking michael parsons because linebacker was a need for them. Seattle now at this point a reunion makes too much sense. Do you own or rent your home share you do and i bet it can be hard work. You know it's easy. Bundling policies with geico geico makes it easy to bundle your homeowner's or renter's insurance along with your auto policy. It's a good thing too because you already have so much to do around your home. Go to geico dot com quote and see how much you could save. Its gyco easy visit. Geico dot com today. That's.

richard sherman Eric fisher Laura darius leonard Debbie robert salah january jonathan taylor geico dot com Geico dot com adam schefter seahawks michael parsons k. J. eric fisher anthony carson wentz geico kenny moore one year

"Order of business is just draft trevor lawrence and we'll see where we go and do vall county. It just got a lot more difficult because the first major decision isn't trevor lawrence. It's what he did yesterday for those. That are not aware. Let's just run through it. Real quick he has hired a gentleman by the name of chris. Doyle who spent twenty one years at the university of iowa is the team strength and conditioning coach. The best in the business at what he does as the jags director of sport performance that is just essentially semantics right. He is essentially going to be there to get this team into shape crystal at the university of iowa renowned over the last fifteen years. I was drafted fifty five players into the league. It's a developmental program. This is an lsu that had fourteen guys drafted last year thirty six current. Hawkeye's play in the nfl including seven. First round draft picks that includes super bowl. Champion trysted worse. That's the good part. Why wouldn't i want a guy like that. Moving up to the next level. Only problem is at the university of iowa. After twenty years on the job. Chris separated from the university because of racial bias and disparities in the football program that went on for over a decade more than fifty players. Most of them african american said there were certain. Words used the word ghetto. Certain words used when the team was working out he was working out with them and they felt very uncomfortable and thought as you heard there was a difference in treatment between black players and white players. So this is a powder. Keg for urban meyer. Urban was asked. We're going to get the fellas here. But i just want to hear from meyer is urban. Meyer asked yesterday about the higher with regards to bringing in free agents. If this guy is going to be the guy. They spend a ton of time with. If i was i wouldn't oh pirating mob once again. I'll explain that if that becomes a question. The one thing. I very confident is that i would imagine within a year or two of the best source of former team in the national football league. As far as you know last few years we've had serious issues with injuries. I wanna say sixty three games or missed on that. Just the defensive side of the ball because of injuries were in two thousand seventeen only to So keeping players healthy at their maximum performance is a high high priority. You're going to be able to explain into free agents. Why hire somebody. That has a checkered past that has to do with some racist remarks. I look man. Urban meyer knows better to does he though really right. Because that's the first thing you say. Urban meyer knows better. And then you sit there and you say to yourself you think you're gonna convince grown men as free agents that that by the time that they start to think about the jacksonville jaguars they already know who chris. Doyle is in the understanding and he has to work very closely with players. He's probably in the building outside of the head coach. He's probably the number two guy in the entire organization. I know there's owner and general manager. The president team players don't deal with them. Players deal with the coaching staff. They deal with urban meyer right underneath. Urban meyer is the strength and conditioning performance psychological. All that is who. They deal with chris doyle. They've got to look him in his eyes every single day. Sometimes twice a day it may be even three times a day depending on what they have to do from a training aspect. They're gonna always have reservation about who that person is. They just the facts of it. Yes you give people the benefit of the doubt but fifty players from a university that you dealt with over twenty years span. They all not just making it up. They all get together in decide. Hey man let's just what we do. We could scam. I wanna some money and soon in. Let's blame chris doyle. They all didn't do that. And i wouldn't make a decision to part ways with it in surrender one point one million dollars intel him and his family. Thank you for your services goodbye. They did that to save face for the university in the football program. They did that because they didn't want that they're even if they knew it was going on. At the time it was so hush hush now free agents all make their own decisions about where they want to go in sometime money ca sway guys to just bypass the situation. But i can almost promise you. These are grown men. You deal with in if you say anything remotely close to something that may be a little sketchy. He's gonna have some major issues. I don't care if you use the word boy. I don't care if you used to wear the cattle anything any forceful these big issue urban meyer. He's gonna be hard to sell that he will never get the benefit of the doubt. Never he'll never get it and it's interesting zubin since we've been going through this whole pandemic and says we went through everything that happened with george floor in our country a talked to so many different executives and ceos a pretty big companies and they say no longer. Can you just move along to decide a person's background or some of the things they've done morally just for. Hey i want to bring this person on because it fits and it will help the bottom line. It will get me results because now it's about. Hey who are you as a person. If you're a great business wise and those two are combined awesome and sports is supposed to be the one place where you know from the way. I grew up with sports. Hey pushed to be a better person. Spend time in the gym. Get better in. Ob better ultimately. It's it's just so tone. Deaf of urban meyer. Now i will say this. Here's the fascinating part about a key. 'cause i'm i'm completely on your side. They start winning games. Nobody's.

trevor lawrence Chris fifty players twenty one years chris doyle urban meyer last year fourteen guys Hawkeye chris Meyer Urban meyer fifty five players yesterday Doyle First round vall county seven one million dollars sixty three games

The Impact of Voice Tech on Human Communication

"What do you think about? Do you have an opinion on the use of human voices with these devices and things like that. In general when you hear a device, should you know it's a device talking to you? Should it be differentiated from human voice are in your mind is the ideal for it to be indistinguishable from human I. think There's two elements I mean there's the the naturalness of the humanist of the voice, and then as knowing it wasn't a human who actually made the. Response. So I think having a human voice is beneficial and I understand the studies have shown that people respond better to human voices that more motive etcetera but I think people should know that they're not talking to a human. They're always talking to something that was designed by human. It still contains human bias. You know these questions not came from somewhere but I don't think people like to be tracked and at this stage in this kind of early stages talented. Build the trust in the TAC. I agree with that and there's no way when you're looking at that device on your countertop that you're like, oh my gosh, I thought there was a person in there there isn't like. To me, I think it's a very interesting question about. Because you can see that like Amazon gave their device a human name Alexa. Supposed to hearken back to the. It's got the hard x so it's easy for it to pick it up and it hearkens back to the library at Alexandria as I understand learn. A. personification and and what's interesting to You got like RTD to see three Po. Those characters would have a different feel to them if they were named Fred and George. Right because. I wonder about the act of naming something and embodying giving. An actual human voice I wonder and again, this is probably one of those things that I'll probably be revealed to be quite provincial. If that is not going to long-term corrosive to the notion of human rights in general. There's anybody thinks so yeah, just. Send a movement against the name Alexa in itself. There's obviously a movement against all these voices having female sounding voices, and now that people are generating these non binary voices. To give it the kind of sound of a robot, but still with those human element so it still sounds personable, but it doesn't necessarily sound like it's emulating. or account to the find real life someone childlike was submissive or any of these characteristics that you might not want to replicate in a robot. Right? You know when Alexa starts to say something and she ramble on something I just tell her to stop just like tell her shut up basically right do you think that affects human interactions more inclined to cut other people off if that just becomes the norm or do you not think that's really an issue. I reckon does to some extent especially, if you have kids who learned from an early age that cater to to have those kind of conversations, the more practice you get with these kinds of woods, the more likely you're going to let them slip into normal conversation with real humans. It does kind of reminded me a little bit of the Duval. Video Games caused people to be violent kind of question that we've been going. Around on and I tend to err on the side of no for that, you can tell the difference between fake onscreen violence and what real violence actually looks like. But when it comes to compensation given, our aim is to make these conversations as life as possible. I'm not sure whether the boundary there is as visible as is noticeable I would be hesitant and if I had kids and they were being extra retail voice assistant. Cut Out. Yeah. You know and it's interesting because we've had to claw early as a species to get to hiding this notion. Of Human Rights this that there are things you do not do to another person no matter what. Entertainment doesn't matter who they are, how bad they are, whatever you just don't do it because being a human nobles view and you wonder what happens if someday you build a device that looks basically ninety percent like a human and talks ninety percent like human and all the rest, and then one day when it's not working and you just throw it in the trash heap, and by Newin, is that corrosive to this very fragile thing we've made that there's something uniquely special about being human, right? You know. I was GONNA. Say I weighed by before she is read the heart of the machine is wonderful book talks about a motive machines, emotional machines, and after reading that book it was it was a good summary of all the different affective computing technologies that are out there at the moment and paint some examples of how they could be used and it did make me think at the end that if you do create these machines are more personable, more natural to interact with the number of fantastic use cases that you can. Use Machines fall well, really open up but at the same time, maybe make appreciate each other as humans because they won't be exact human they'll be nearly human and maybe it's in our interest to make them nearly human but not exactly human. You don't want to cross that threshold and I thought it might be similar to US discovering extraterrestrial life another planet that suddenly win alone sending we've got this other forced to contend with and we appreciate each other a little bit more because maybe that's naive you but that's why. Well I shouldn't familiar with wise and bomb and Eliza. Like the setup for this story is in the sixties, there was just fella named Weisbaum at early computer science guy and he made a chat Bot called Elisa and is a very simple chat bot because the computing power they had and you would say to allies on your touch about it. You would say I'm having a bad day in the program and say, why are you having a bad day and use having a bad day because of my mom is your mom making you had a bad day. And so on and Weissenbach bomb. Everybody knew it was a program but why isn't bomb saw? People pouring their heart out to it. And it disturbed him so much that he unplugged it and raced it said no because he said when Elisa says I understand. It's a lie because there's no. And there's nothing that understands anything and. oftentimes, the answers that they put in these systems. Where the devices purport to have preferences or things they like or don't like. I find it creepy and again, maybe that's just my I'm kind of Weissenbach. Of person there. There was this twilight zone episode back in the sixties where. Sky Stranded on some penal planet all by himself in solitary and they bring him a robot to keep him company, and then he gets a pardon because he turns out he didn't do it and they send to spaceship to get him picking up and they only have enough wait for him. You can't take his robot with him and so he says I'm not going I'm staying until I don't know that it's a great time to have those conversations because all of these are still open questions. I hope the technology develops in a thoughtful way and. You know not just like, Hey, we can make sound exactly like a person and give it a person's name and have it purport to have feelings let's do it because people want that

Mookie Betts makes history with another 3-home run game

"So mookie betts last. Night Raby. Three homers Ford does in a game for the sixth time in his career Johnny. Sammy Sosa the only other players do that and movie didn't in a thousand fewer games basically in Mayes and fifteen hundred fewer than So when you look our call you red sox fan but you grew up there for goodness sakes and you see mookie bats, the red sox traded away it off to a start like this and avenue another three homer game. What do you think? Well I. Think it happens on the same day that the red sox give up seventeen runs and look at a single late in the Celtics and Bruins I think both lost and the Patriots are going to start a season without Tom Brady I think this is I think this is a reminder of the come up in Boston sports fans are are about to have to deal with and the next few years now I mean look it's It's a tough pill to swallow for red SOx nation to know that. One of the transformational players of his generation in an era when Mike Trout is playing mu batches is going to be in the conversation. You know there's there's a Jack Nicklaus Arnold. Palmer. Gary Player. There's the Tiger Woods Phil. Mickelson for Awhile, David Duval conversation. I, mean my child's GonNa. Have you know mookie Betts in Clayton Kershaw and that's what this group is going to be about and to know that he was once part of your franchise and now he's not and a franchise paid him a lot of money and you believe your franchise and was capable of doing the same. For those that are moving in dying with the Red Sox I know it sucks. It really really does it's It's just a it's just a reminder and he's got to be that guy we all grew up with them that. Whatever he does he does to a level that few others can do it. So the three six times you know that's the same guy that has four. That's the same guy that bowls three hundred games. He does those things and and there'll be no surprise. You know when he wins more world series wins MVP's that's that guy he's the guy we all grew up with he's just doing it at the highest athletic level.

Miami - Florida shark attacks drop during coronavirus pandemic

"Shark bites in Florida waters globally are down dramatically this year Tyler bowling manages the international shark attack file a U. F. and suspects the pandemic is a reason shark bait numbers decreasing in recent years overall but but this is such a dramatic dip so far in the year that would believe that the obvious answer is the complete shutdowns of patent packed beaches were closed resulting in fewer people in the water to have encounters with sharks in the first six months of the year there've only been two minor bites in Florida one in Duval county the other in Brevard normally there have been eight or nine

"duval" Discussed on Con Artists

"On December eleventh nineteen thirteen thirty five year old John Duval gluck junior and a handful of volunteers. Stead in trepidation. The growing pile of Christmas letters sitting in front of them. They were in the small back office of Henkel's Chop House a steakhouse in the heart of New York City between the typewriters. The makeshift desks where volunteers work and the letters themselves space was tight and gluck was panicking three days before he'd volunteered to answer letters written to the North Pole by the needy children of New York with gifts and treats the press latched onto the story. Thrilled that the big apple finally had its very own Santa Claus but in that moment gluck feared he had set himself up for failure. His newly founded Santa Claus Association lacked the resources the Manpower and the money they needed to complete the operation on the surface gluck dismay seemed entirely l. e. selfless downtrodden at the thought of letting children down but in reality gluck was playing a long game and one with much highest stakes. If he played his cards right he would be making money. Hand over fist in unregulated donations nations. But first he had to convince the people of New York that his association was worth donating to that they could accomplish exactly what they promised to make this Christmas. The best these children had ever seen off to that the city would be his for the taking welcome to con artists. A podcast original. I'm alstead and every week. We peel back. The layers of history's greatest deceptions and tell the stories of the hustlers swindlers windless and fraudsters. That orchestrated them. We have ring John Gluck junior otherwise otherwise known as the Santa Claus Man we explore how glocks desire for fame and wealth led him to abandon his business ventures and establish establish himself as a reputable good Samaritan. We'll see how in just a few short years he built a successful charitable organization laying the foundation for what was actually a massive fraud operation next week. Finally we learn how the Commissioner of Public Welfare ultimately exposed gluck for the fraud. He was praised as a generous Duga. John Donavan gluck junior volunteered to raise money. For New York's walks needy children and onto the thousands of letters they sent to Santa Claus. It was a huge undertaking and one. That gluck led outs of the goodness of his heart or at least that's what he told the public. What they didn't know was that gluck who created the perfect cover for a seasonal con with his newly founded Santa Claus Association taking advantage of the holiday spirit the flooded the city every December gluck brought in thousands of dollars of donations for needy children and eventually pocketed most most of the cash for himself he spent fifteen years? As New York's own bona fide Santa Claus before he was exposed. I and the Association dissolved quite fittingly. Glut was born on Christmas Day in eighteen. He always knew that he wanted to be someone important. Important gluck had a comfortable happy childhood but some of his favorite memories were of his holidays with his family. The glocks always made these celebrations into big occasions at a time when holidays ones observed with the same fervor as today in fact up until the mid eighteen hundreds partying on Christmas Day was frowned upon. It was seen strictly as a religious occasion. It wasn't until eighteen. Seventy that the. US government declared Christmas a national holiday and its popularity grew through with each year but the glocks were ahead of the curve. There Christmases were always large large and cheerful and they often invited those who were less fortunate to celebrate both the holiday and John. Junior's birthday with them gluck remained close with his family into adulthood and despite his more colorful ambitions he joined his father's customs brokerage business when he was twenty ninety four years old that year in nineteen. Oh Two glocks father. Renamed the company John D. Glut and son locking in his fate as a broker for years. His goals of notoriety remained on the back burner but in nineteen nineteen o seven when Gluck was twenty nine. Everything changed that year on Halloween. glocks father died suddenly only leaving the responsibilities of the business on the young man shoulders. It was a devastating blow to gluck the hopes he had of breaking free from the business and making a name for himself died with his father now. The burdens of the company were his and and his alone but as he eased into the role of business owner. He soon found another opportunity to live. The life he'd imagined gluck was extremely aware of the role that the press had in influencing public opinion and though his work in customs brokerage wasn't especially Shauwie tantalizing. He found a way to make it. More appealing gluck decided the best way to grow. His business was to publicize size himself one afternoon. Block could a call from a British client. A company called. Dick Kerr works. The the clients confided a scandal story. The executives daughter had just eloped across the pond to New York City with one of the company's employees. Yes it was a disaster and the executive was desperate for someone to pin down the two lovebirds because Clark handled the company's as imports in America the executive pleaded for his help asking that he finds a couple and send them back to the U K. Gluck new you. There wasn't much he could do say to change the minds of two consenting adults but he tracked him down anyway and delivered the message and in the the process. He made sure to alert the press of the outrageous story. Foreigners forbidden love and a runaway marriage. Surely this story would sell big and soon. His efforts paid off when the New York Times eventually ran the article. Dick Kerr works. Suddenly the talk of the town and more importantly gluck name.

"The him calling them trannies is considered offensive and i know a lot of right wingers who say are no big deal okay and he's joking whatever okay that's one category and and by the way in these issues sometimes we're we're new in grappling with them and and we made mistakes too so are we got criticized for recent game of thrones review we did uh because we are curious about uh i character character there among the unsullied a long story from game of thrones and you can say we were insensitive about that nah maybe that's fair but this is a totally different category here's a guy who's doubling down saying yes since in my opinion psychological damage to me i get to execute and that is a very dangerous minds and i hope that something we can all agree on really really easily exactly yeah that was that was the part that i think got the criticism is justified but there's another part that i don't think is is getting talked about enough so janet mark is an amazing woman she is you know an outspoken leader in the transgender community and she had just been on the breakfast club and she talked about her latest book or one of her books i should say and um you know what they did at one point during this conversation one of the host picked up her book in her you know picture is on the cover and basically made a point of all look at janet mock though isn't she beautiful and then duval jumps said and talks about you know calls her a man and says he's doing his thing something along those lines i'm paraphrasing and it's just it's just a necessary i don't know it's just it it just came across as an incredibly um.
