"Where literally nothing happens and we have no sidewalks or bars anyway. I have always been obsessed with a story about an entire family. Who was murdered in the nineteen thirties on their farm. A few minutes from my childhood home. The story is referred to as the german family. Murders and i believe it remains unsolved to this day on the day after thanksgiving nineteen thirty the company of dutchess county sent one of its workers out to check on a local dairy farmer who supplied them with malik after not receiving their typical shipment. The employees arrived the dairy farmer nine in the morning to find all four members of the german family stabbed to death. Then it says. I hope that guy the afterwards houston germont and his young son. Raymond were found i. They had been stabbed to death in the family's wagon shed mabel end bernice. Germond a houston. His wife and teenage daughter were found the kit- family's kitchen both stabbed to death. Bernice body was found under the kitchen table as if she had tried to crawl away other. A butcher knife that did not belong to the family was found at the scene and was determined to be the murder weapon. Police were unable to find any fingerprints on the knife. They eventually were able to track down. Who sold the knife. But the man was unable to recall who he had sold it to. Then it says thanks for nothing as also discovered that mr germont had one hundred and fifty dollar check that same day of the murder over. Twenty three hundred. Today's money which investigators to believe that the families murder was likely a robbery. Investigators follow up on several leads including an elusive mysterious stranger who had been reportedly seen walking around the germans property prior to the murders in one thousand nine thirty three a neighbor was arrested. Who was supposedly owed money by mr german but lack of evidence led to the charges being dropped other than this. No arrests have been made. I love the story for tons of reasons but mostly because it has everything murder money mysterious stranger but also because it had occurred in almost one hundred years ago and is still the craziest thing that has ever happened in my hometown and in this insane world. That's probably a pretty good thing. Ssd gm megan good point. Megan that's very Silver lining right literally to look at it but to to a horrible end mysterious. This makes me wanna point back to once again. One of my favorite true crime books of all time the man from the train Which is unbelievable and it. Has that the idea that someone comes into a small town where people are. Just ask the assumption of safety. Because they're far away from people away from the big city or whatever and decimates family that just gets walks away and nothing ever happens for. That is is just crazy. I like back then. It was just so easily easy to like just blend in and be a nameless faceless person through town yeah that's crazy and you could hop on train again raid the man from a train. It's okay so good. Oh this is the okay. Ready creepy neighbour story. Now that's all this. That's the beginning of the of the the fog. I know podcast. We're definitely going to be made restore. Yeah i'm a little late. The game. But as i was painting ornaments for my shop and catching up on mfm parentheses. Thanks for keeping me company. I heard your request for creepy neighbors..

"After five o'clock time for weather with meteorologist Ray Stagich. Get the Weather Channel the morning Ray. Hi, Joe got a windy day. Coming up today. I see windy day today. Colder air getting ushered in on that north west wind. Just checking the latest info weather service hasn't put out any advisory for the wind yet at least for most of the tri-state actually all these put out a special weather statement that talks about the gusty winds below advisory criteria. So we're expecting between about thirty to forty miles per hour. I mean, that's nothing to sneeze at no speed is a temperature. It is the advisories the wind advisory start. Hanes. Look there. My home county Ulster and Dutchess county. So you do have to go about one hundred miles north to run into advisors, but still fairly Wendy, which certainly gonna make temperatures the air temperatures, feel colder. Not brutal cold Joe. But certainly change with the wind around temperatures in the forties, basically all day today. So that's the kind of dates gonna be it'll feel more like January, ninth suppose feel like this on January ninth in terms of the temperature probably a little above average. We should be in the upper thirties Republican to stay low forties all day, but you throw in the wind. Been. Yeah. It's going to feel like a winter day. Maybe not the coldness of winter days. Just different compared to what we've had tonight thirty two tomorrow. Temperatures holding steady tomorrow it'll feel like winter tomorrow, we're not gonna get to that upper thirties low to mid thirties all day tomorrow. Still gusty wind around tomorrow will feel colder clouds on your way to at least some sunshine Friday, sunny and cold, highs, low thirty Saturday, cloudy low thirties with. "Amendment was added some years. Ago was because it was. A basic tradeoff which was public unions not being not being able to strike in particular to protect the safety welfare etcetera of the public there would be certain protections put in place municipalities all across. The state, live within that within those protection public unions if there's a contract yet and it's not yet settled live by the existing contracts so it hasn't seen lawyer can't take advantage, in that regard I think it's a mistake I don't think it's an appropriate proposal. And I think it ultimately would threaten the ability of of of. Municipalities and governments to provide for the public. Safety in now understand this I I support Collective bargaining I've negotiated. With public unions I the great respect for the people who work for me now in Dutchess county government there there are ways to ensure equity. And fairness this tips the. Scales against against the tax payer in, quite frankly I it's not it's not something that I think is in the best interest of the health welfare and safety of New York. That's, for sure Very quickly you've made a big part of. Your your campaign rightly so not only public corruption which you have, been, talking about. Constantly but affordability in the fact that you know people really can't afford to live in New York and it's. Only getting worse What can you do if you still. Have a legislature which is democratic and certainly the assembly will be democrat is certainly a possibility that the Senate may be. But what can you do to enact a more a program that makes New York more affordable for working class and middle, class families while you have a democratic assembly, that would pass tax after tax and spend the, earned dime of your grandchildren Well look I I think it starts with respect I I do I think the governor. Has to respect the fact, that there are various views and we've got to bring them together to solve problems but we know we. Are too expensive we lead America in losing more New Yorkers to other states than any other state, in America and, let me speaking to a New York City audience particularly you know there are. There are countless struggling families who want to transit system that's affordable and responsive so invest in priorities there their, families and young people living in subsidized housing struggle every, day with lead paint, and painted water focus our resources there show the people in the. State legislature that you mean business about making sure everyone, regardless of means had a place to call home in, the state and, city of New York and that's how you earned the trust and respect to get those, other things that we need to do done like cutting property taxes and ensuring that those in particular even in the city we're dealing with assessed valuation issues in shouldering high property tax burden if they get the relief that they deserve as well So. So again it's it's it's for me it's it's all of the buff proving, to people that every New Yorker regardless of who they. Are what their ideology is they deserve. The ability to achieve success and because of the burden regulation because of a failing transit system because of housing that's been let to deteriorate for people, where, we're really, creating an environment where where where where the health and welfare and safety of people that. Risk in in folks aren't, able to achieve independence and successfully want and regardless of my party might my my job as governor is. To try to solve those problems to make it better for every New Yorker and I think that's, the way you, get things done well Mark Molinaro I'll see you on Staten Island tonight and. Hope every all of our listeners come out to you doing a few of these town hall meetings this week, here in New York City you have won this week, to one in queens, though I can't recall immediately.
