What to Do When You Can't Find God

"Several years ago i read a book by a j swoboda called the dusty ones in it. He shares a story about his from high school whose name was stew. Stew met jesus through his friendship with jay and they quickly became zealous. An excited together. They read the bible. They prayed in front of lockers. And stu felt close to god in those days will soon. Aj lost touch after graduation as often happens in about ten years later they reconnected and that was when aj learned that statue no longer called himself a christian because once he went off to college he stopped feeling the presence of now. I'm not here to debate the reality of stews relationship with god or the validity of his conversion or even the role of feelings as they mix with our faith. But what i do wanna talk about. Is this experience. That many friends of jesus either have gone through are going through or will go through and that is the experience of the loss of the felt presence of god. The truth is we won't always feel god's presence. I know some believers who say they've never really felt god's presence. I don't want that to be true but it is true. The good news is this is nothing new. For generations and generations christians have wandered through the wilderness have walked through. The valley of the shadow have navigated life in the midst of difficulty loss and seemingly impossible circumstances. If you are walking through your own wilderness right now. You are not alone even if you feel alone. Saint john of the cross called his experience of not feeling god's presence a dark night of the soul martin. Luther called it. The scandal of god's hidden nece and barbara brown taylor in her book learning to walk in the dark. She says no. One chooses the dark knight. The dark night descends.

Thirsty: A Sheriff James Roberts story from the Wild West

"For a halfway full canteen. The song came to the sheriff's suddenly scoured free by the sandy fever. In his head he'd been in the desert for a week now. He was sunburned. Wind burned hungry tired and more but none of that was the real problem. No the real problem was this sheriff. James roberts was thirsty. It had always been a small word thirsty. Strictly a lower case t word thirsty was how he felt after a hard day of riding in the sun thirsty was how he felt when he woke up in the morning to a dry and dusty mouth thirsty could be fixed by a ladle of cool water from the pump. This was different. This was more than thirsty. This was thirst. This was the deep primal aac. It left his throat hot and painful. His lips cracked like an old scab three days three dry agonizing days. That's how long it had been since he'd had a drink. Even that was barely a sip. Just the warm dregs of his canteen. Now he found himself in the middle of the brand of brow desert alone with nothing but the buzzards for company and not so much as a mouthful to drink. Oh it had all started well enough. Len bradford and his bandits had come to hazel thinking. They'd find an easy target in the small town bank instead. They'd found sheriff. James roberts and three. Us rangers ready and waiting. Most of the bandits were arrested without drawing their weapons but len and his brothers had escaped through a second story window and high tailed it for the desert.

Myanmar coup: 'We were told to shoot protesters', say police who fled

"For me Amar have talked to the BBC, saying they fled across the border into India. After refusing to carry out the orders of the military, which seized power in a coup last month. Well, that is in Myanmar, where I'm standing right now is in India and he's across this river. That dozens of people in recent weeks have fled the military crackdown in Myanmar. Coming to India for safe passage. It's in a small town along the border. We need two dozen of the policemen and women who are now hiding in India. Moxie on Mars: The Mars Oxygen In-Situ Resource Utilization Experiment

"For the very first time is going to try to use something outside of earth as a resource. I briefly mentioned this instrument last week. Know when i was talking about the perseverance. Mars rover and it contains the the rover contains a new instrument that potentially could be one of the most profound events of the mission. And it's called. Moxie as steve keeps like he just loves the word right. Don't you steve. Sure it'd be a really cute and for girlfriend you know. It's a really cool word. So if successful this mission will prove to be the beginning of being able to send astronauts home from mars and also impart. Keep them alive now. I'm being vague deliberately. Because i'm filling your brain with secondary information. And then you'll see what i do so at the size of a car battery. This gold colored prototype requires how much energy guys three one. third of. The rovers energy one third of perseverance. Gigawatts is coming is going to this part now. Like i said this is not part of the rovers primary mission and when it performs its function. It's gonna run at eight hundred degrees celsius or one thousand. Four hundred seventy two degrees fahrenheit guys this touch it so incredibly hot that the engineers had to use the best insulating material known to man to protect perseverance from it. Boxy stands for mars. Oxygen institute resource utilization experiment. So it function. Its function is actually similar to that of a tree in that it will intake carbon dioxide which there's plenty of because the mars atmosphere is literally co two. That is the atmosphere of mars so after its processes done. It'll output pure oxygen into the martian atmosphere and this is not for terror forming purposes call. Oh my god bob. How would that be if we started. Tear forming mars in the next thirty years like just try to change the atmosphere of mars. Send up a billion moxie happen jay. Carbon go out. I'm going to tell you everything. Steve but in my own way in my way okay. So on future missions the oxygen would be used for what for fuel and breathing fuel breathing. Oxygen is perfect for so clearly future astronauts will be depending on the future versions of moxie. So like i said. The martian atmosphere is one hundred times less dense than earth You know that doesn't mean that there isn't a huge abundance of co two because that's what it is all the all the air that's there is is co two and nasa plans on turning moxie on about twelve times during the next two earth years and that should do it that should be enough for engineers to be able to suss it all out. So what they're predicting is that. It will produce between six and ten grams of oxygen per hour and that is enough oxygen to keep a small mammal like a skunk or fox or twenty two lowland streaked kendricks look really cute. But this look them up. They're cute as hell. Twenty two just going by body weight if we're testing it now to see if it successfully functions on mars why couldn't they just test it on earth. Well the fact is we did but you have to keep in mind. That mars is dusty. It's very cold minus sixty two celsius minus eighty one fahrenheit. There's there's no predicting the ways that this thing can fail like any other device. So that's why we we want to bring it to mars and test it

Words i had previously reserved for my relationship with dusty one evening set. If i wasn't going to be with her. I had to let her go so she could find someone else as much as i love my dog and my perfect life. I didn't wanna lose the also. Especially knowing i was about to lose dusty whose health had deteriorated to the point where he could barely walk the next morning. I told dusty as usual to stay home and guard the castle. I was driving to the university of texas at san antonio at five thirty. Am to lecture about subjectivity causality. When i was hit from behind by what i think was a drunken driver. Collision launched my truck at seventy miles per hour into a cement barrier. Right was ripped to pieces. The force of the impact peeled two of my bumper stickers from tailgate. If it weren't for the air bag. I would be dead as.

"No yeah, I do. And one of the a rumor that we've been discussing the check fit into this in in. Ways he's been saying things kind of thing. That might there is a rumor going around in the wrestling community that Sam pump has signed a five-year deal with ww. No confirmation to it is just a rumor. What? Do I have mixed feelings about this. If they have they changed the direction maybe if they keep it the way the wheels are right now than I've seen in there and they were coming across my door he. I think coming back. This is what we're giving you. I'd be held to the knowledge to the no, no no. No now now. Oh I what? I just. Cars News. Voting. Other news going on in the wrestling world this week it's not a huge thing. The only thing I really saw us W announced the restart and they will be joining the Wednesday night wars not that they will be like in competition, but they will be airing on Wednesday nights. They have some sort of cable that there are a some sort of network that they worked out during. Kovin. So I'm excited for this kind of goes along with our Topic this week in talking about. The one and only. The American dream, the son of a plumber. And Dusty Rhodes, and before we get into this, we do have just another short video package. "This past week, I attempted to follow along to a guided meditation. Recording. Actually. It wasn't exactly meditation but rather a hypnotherapy session I was trying to tap into my deep unconscious for clues to my past lives. Well. The short version of the story is that I got interrupted but I was able to wander briefly through an all but forgotten childhood memory of visiting a friend's house one winter afternoon. It was just me my friend and her older sister and we spent part of that day roasting marshmallows in their fireplace. I, recalled the visceral feeling of burning the tip of my left ring finger on a hot wire coat hanger. It took a while to recall my old friends name but I remembered that her sister like me was named Tracy. I never made it to the lives I might have lived before this one. But for a time, I lay there in deep relax Asian feeling of. Gratitude for one rainy winter day nearly forty years ago. Just a heads up today's poem refers to self harm. Dusty Lemons by Maya Luke H. I was as blank today as you can imagine. Lost the way to circle back to the beginning or even last summer. I remember those days we wore matching lemon flower dresses. I remember the Morbid Anatomy of lemons and suburban front yards. We posed for photographs in our lemon dresses. We were little girls on film locked in a disposable camera. They couldn't shake us out our nineties faces came into view Pale as a circle of dead peonies floating in ice water. Today I've positioned myself against starting, but against stopping two. Days in days repeat in superfluous museums of routine. September slowly becomes the Sun behind dusty squares of autumn glass. The wind carries rarities with scissors and thin and remote streets hold adjacent together like masked sisters existing for no reason other than remembering minerals and footsteps and how light once was on my face. A story I've heard before. When my mother was little she lived in a house of women on a lane of Cherry trees. She was a lemon and held one in her open palm. They were poor. The lemons were expensive devoured in secret. She was punished for eating it but loved the bidder wave across her mouth a dusty lemon. This morning fall bloomed and summer died all at once like a person's shedding blonde hair faster than anyone predicted but as blank as you could imagine. Roses, crumbled to the sky and I remembered we lived in a cottage of roses. Once there were wrong ways to hold a rose so I learned by pain to be correct. Lemons were. And it was wartime everywhere and elsewhere but I lived in a death, Louis Garden of flowers and infinite spring. To feel something other than autumn a nonspecific blackness can you imagine I carry lemon acid with me scrape a serrated knife across the back of my hand squeeze lemon over it. Still Remembering, those thorns on which I ripped.

"Today's interview is cool for a lot of reasons for one. He's in sales and for all of the emails that I get from people who are in sales and struggle with drinking at conferences and events just know that you're not allowed second dusty. That's our interviewee. Today dusty went all in. He'll explain what it's like to go to detox. He went to i. o P, which is a great kind of middle of the road option if you're not able to go to an inpatient treatment center, but you need more help than just trying to do this on your own, but this is the real kicker. He also told his CEO about getting sober. And telling our bosses or colleagues that we're struggling with alcohol is a huge scare for so many people and totally. Totally valid were very black or white people. You know and probably assumed that needing treatment is a reason that we need to be fired. You know that was an alcoholic or whatever? Where do you WANNA use and that? We just deserve to be canned and I can't stress this, too. You enough. That's not the case. If you're in a place with your drinking where you need to take the time off work to go, get healthy. That's worth talking to somebody about. Be Surprised at one. How supportive your work people might be into that. You have protection from Fmla the Family Medical Leave Act. Laws vary state by state. So this is something you're. GonNa need to do your own research on <hes>. Start with googling it or ask your HR person, but saying I'm having trouble with my health and I need some help is not enough for. For you to get canned, this is not the first time either. I've heard a story. Where someone told their boss, they were struggling and got nothing but total support. It's been shared on a handful of stories on this podcast and I. Don't think they're unique. People want to help you and I think it's really brave when you can give them the opportunity to do that. The other part of this interview that I WANNA point out. That's Kinda special, because we don't always get to talk about. It is detox detoxing from alcohol? If you're heavy, drinker can be incredibly dangerous, if not deadly if you're doing it on your own especially, if you have experienced physical withdrawals before I probably not share this enough when telling my own story of sobriety with other groups, and on other podcasts, because I did quit cold, Turkey, and that wasn't safe. Alcohol withdrawal can do more than just give you seizures. It can kill you and there's no. No gold standard for measuring timeline of how long you have to drink in order to experience withdrawal by the way for anyone who was wondering why liquor stores were still open during the yeah covid nineteen like quarantine shutdown liquor stores were considered an essential business. That's why because some people are so physically dependent on alcohol that not having hall is too high of a risk for killing some people or sending them to the hospital, and that was the whole part of the quarantine is that we had to make room for all these hospital beds right? So back to detox <hes> when I quit drinking, I was in a period of heavy long-term drinking, but it was so stealth that most people had no idea, but I still went through three days of detoxing feeling like total dog shit like I had the flu. My kidneys hurt like my actual organs hurt I. had a fever sweated profusely when I slept. had a hard time or even just getting up and taking my dog out, and I was also an idiot for not telling my doctor about this and I'm a smart girl, but that was a dumb move, so if you're not sure, please talk to your doctor. They won't shame you. I know it's going to feel a little bit embarrassing, but it is so much better to be safe than to be dead and detoxing by yourself can absolutely do that. It can be fatal, so please please please be careful. All right before we get started a little housekeeping. If you'd like to join my book club to read how to be an anti-racist by Abram Candy, you can sign up on recovery. Happy Hour, DOT, com! We're doing a zoom discussion on July. Ninth and all the proceeds will benefit a nonprofit to be announced some time this month. Also a big thank you to Chaban and Allie for your generous donations to the podcast. I really really appreciate that. If you'd like to donate, you can do that by visiting the website, or you can always support the podcast for free by leaving a five star rating and writing a nice review on Apple podcasts for me, thank you. All right let's talk to dusty. He is thirty eight. He's been sober for just under two years works in the tech industry and lives in Indiana. We Talk Detox IOP coming out to your boss accountability therapy twelve step, and just about everything else that you could possibly do inside a rock-solid recovery program. All right, let's get to it. Hi Dusty! How are you? I'm doing good tricia. How are you I'm good I'm good. Thanks so much for sitting down with me tonight and take a minute to have a little recovery. Happy Hour with me psychic to know ula better absolutely I appreciate you having my own. Yeah, well, let's start this the same way. We start every interview on the show and that is what is your name and your sobriety date, and would you describe yourself as high or low functioning drinker? So dusty. My sobriety date is August twenty, eight, two, thousand, eighteen and I would have considered myself A. Extremely high functioning alcoholic, so got it. Yeah, we'll get into that here in just a second <hes> real quick. Tell me just a little bit about you know where you live. Are you do for a living hobbies anything like that. So I just had a birthday not too long ago. <hes> thirty eight and I live. Thank you. I live in Indiana currently live about forty miles southeast of Indianapolis in a small town of about seven hundred people so. What do you do for fun? <hes> lot of outdoors. <hes> woodworking is one of my big hobbies and spending time with family <hes>. I have two young kids on both were adopted and <hes> just spending time, family and wife and kids at this point his by far my favorite thing to do

"From the seventies and eighties watching a lot of ship wrestling from Florida I watch a lot of mid Atlantic, wrestling and somebody who was all over both those promotions is the American Dream Dusty Rhodes and I know for DP like he was more than just a friend who was a mentor. Somebody that you always say if it wasn't for him, there would be no DD pay. One hundred percent are like I. had to get myself out there when I got the Awa, but after Awa. Every great that meant anything for me came through dusty in the. Next couple of years, and I always tell people because a lot of people go, you gotTA. You gotTA network. No, you don't have to network because a lot of people think that you have to. It's all about who you know. Who knows you, but the reality comes down to. It comes down to WHO's willing to say they know you. And Dusty did that for me over and over and over again image. Jake both they both. You know day we're talking about you know today's society, but you know we're all kinda going through hard times, and if you go back and listen to that Promo and what made him like? When he just reached out to that camera, and what his hand and it was like a long for that ride like you. You knew he was there for you and exactly what I feel, would dusty was he was about hard work and it was about, and you watch the FCW documentary. It's about believing. Believing in people and pages, somebody who and not just because he's my friend, he believes in people and he believes in helping people and dusty. Did that for so many and when you have somebody in your corner, you're willing to fight to the death for that person, and for me like you know I met dusty already an established star in EC W and I will just be totally humbled by dusty is presence and even knowing his backstory, because at that time, he wasn't doing good in his life. And he had told me and he called him Paulie, and when he was kind of ousted out of WCW, and he was going through some hard times. What Paulie stood by him and Paulie also stood by him, because of dusty, gave Paulie his first break and believed in him. And When you have people like that in your life there so influential and like when I remember watching that whole video with cody training for the NWEA, title and DDP's in it. And Cody sits there and I'm just watching this video like a fan and code like my father felt he had five friends out of everybody in wrestling and I mean and three of them were one was me. One was DDP and one was glacier and I was like I started crying. 'cause I'm like my hero considered me one of his best friends till his dying day. And it was just like next level for why like I will always mention his name like I, said I will wear yellow Polka dots till the day. I die just so everyone can remember or could say. Wow, didn't somebody else where that he's way bigger than I will ever be but the fact that he believed in what thirty three year old man trying to make it in wrestling, who was going to arrest in school and Power Plant to be a wrestler to turn out to be a hall of Famer to see his son go out there and do it his because he's doing and his other son. Go out there and become a great performer like. Stuff like that doesn't happen in life, unless other people believe in you and I have seen DP change people's lives I have gone out of my way to help. A lot of people and try to give them inspiration because that's what this world should be all about. Our percent man. You know what I said. When inducted Jake in the whole fame? I had a set. Thing what I wanted to say. It was all my pad, and then I would improv because I in my matches to buy scripts whatever I'm doing. I prepared I put the work in. Not I'm going to say but I. Know what I'm going to say so well that. I can improv any spot in come out and one of the things I said that was completely in Prague, and I really didn't realize how powerful it was, so after I watched it back, and it was I was talking about Jake. And I said never underestimate the power. You give someone by believing in them. More importantly never underestimate the power. You give yourself by believing in you. And that's that's what does the does that three over and over again one of my favorite stories exam 'cause I never really told the story often it. There's there's some I told over and over, and over again is just so many. But. Dusty believed in me when I came into Florida championship wrestling as a color commentator, and not that I could do like Jesse Ventura. He was looking for the energy when he offered me the spot of colored commentator. I was like dusty. I was still zimmer confident. Right up to that point. When? He offered me that I was like does the I don't know. Ariss lock were wristwatch. I can't do that and he said. Don't worry about a kid Golden Foley going to walk you through it all. and He loved my energy by to my even. Nonsense at times he loved the energy he believed in me as a as a producer and helping other guys interview when he brought me up to WCW when he left. New York is the POLKA, dotted deal and came in through WCW in Ali brought me up to be the manager. The free birds to the greatest talkers Aber Michael Hayes and Jimmy Jam. Garden and Michael is the one said Utah. We want something new here. But dusty set that up, but he also put me and booking meetings now I didn't know how much heat that was really. I had no idea no I was. Entrance entrances bliss until you really learn what that H. E. A. Teams. It's not spent can be worse than the F. Word. But. It put me there ep age reducing interviews everything. And then when they decided they weren't going to let me manage anymore because of the hat, because because of this. Because, a lot of my camera here because of that guy, the FLASH THE ROBBED THE DIAMOND DOLLS REVERSE DEBORAH's. Wrestling and. Decided what? Marriage anymore he He had magnum Ta. Tell me that. House like. Bags. Are you telling me I'm too over the top professional wrestling? Is, I it. It's not your fault, but we should have done. It puts you to pair of tights, boots and seeing if you could do this the next day I was in Magnum's office. I'd set up to my contract. I made the move I'm gonNA. Come Wrestler now I say that story that does scouting just shook his head. Love me like let him do his thing. Never thinking it would turn into anything. then. I worked for nine months with Kevin Nash. Tore my rotator GOB. Went Away for eleven months because they let me go. Bridge off hired me back bottom salary. And I gotta go into my meeting dusty the next day so that day I go to the power plant. And when I get to the power.

Nation Channel One fifty six. This is busted opens the American dream dusty. Rhodes special here's Dave La Greco. EC W legend Tommy. Dreamer, with Wwe Hall of Famer Diamond Dallas Page. Welcome back to bust it open remembering the American dream, dusty Rhodes, myself Dave La, Greta, and of course, Tommy, dreamer, and When we think of dusty Rhodes a lot of things, come to mind you know the hard times Promo is definitely something. Probably you know top one or two greatest promos ever, but for me it's always about the matches, and it's always about the foods. We just recently did top ten greatest feuds of all time. Your number one was dusty, Rhodes and Kevin Sullivan from championship wrestling from Florida. I was dusty. Rhodes and Rick Flair, from the NWEA in the eighties. And you know it doesn't end, you know if you want, you can throw out the series of matches. He had with superstar Billy Graham in Nineteen, seventy seven, like he had so many great feuds in great matches again. Yes, great speaker, definitely a genius when it came to pro wrestling, but it always comes down to what happens in the middle of the ring. You know we had Raven on was stupid. Raven your choice We have raven on the show and he's like. where's Terry funk versus Dusty Rhodes Yup. Look on social media and I see where's dusty? Dusty versus The coal offs I've and cough or the Russians icy. Where's dusty? Verses the Andersons? where's dusty versus the four horsemen? All the wrestling fans are just telling us all these great moments of of of dream and it. He was always driven like that, and even though and a lot of times as happened to so many different people in wrestling like once they won the title their careers were Kinda went on the down slope. Because once that baby face accomplishes that goal. It's like what else can happen, but that never was lost with dusty, and I mean you think about it? He was so great at. Adapting to the baby face that he was working with, and like I I mean honestly I remember looking at him tag teaming with the road warriors you look at their physiques, and like I'm looking at dusty like he's the baddest man in the world. And just because he painted his face, or the time when he got the Mohawk, and he did TC B. Y.. He just did these little little nuances that never ever you would say like. Oh, he's sucking up to this guy he he helped. The baby face get over to the next level while keeping himself over, and like that was one of his so Attributes to do an entrust me. It's hard to do. Anything about even like you know. The Crockett Cup tournament when dusty supposed to be teeming with Magnum Ta, and you know Magnum, Ta was out because of that car accident and the Keita Cole was one of the most aided heels teams up with dusty, and now he's one of the biggest babyfaced like you mentioned about dusty, turning back in Florida instantly one night by dusty, being with dusty automatically you're one of the biggest baby faces in the territory Yup and you know, and then you think of like getting over the midnight rider that character. And the story lines, and you know we all everyone talks about it sitting under the tree of Eddie Graham like he did and it was. You Know Eddie. Dusty Bill Watts so many guys sat under the tree, a Paul Heyman. Just it's a learning Trine, and searcy I would go and just sit and talk to dream about so many things and Dave. I, you know I've said this before, but I'll say it again. I was getting out of professional wrestling. My father took me to see Florida championship wrestling Hollywood's Ford Taurus him I was watching news enjoying it and when? Ivan call off Dick Murdoch versus Bugsy McGraw Dusty Rhodes when he came to that ring I'm seriously like I tell it all the time like there was a spotlight I could see the nats and the smoke dream looked like he floated to the ring and I remember like you know that hair. I felt like I was watching like a God on earth, and I was frozen, I was frozen in my tracks, watching him and. I'M GONNA BE FIFTY I've never been frozen I've I've watched. People die in front of me. I've been in riots. I watched my father take his last breath and I've never been frozen. No one ever has captivated me. like that I've been to major sporting events. And it was just like I knew what I had to do with my life. Watching this man perform, and this was on. This was just on a non televised show. And that's the charisma, and that's that `it factor where you affect people when you don't realize you're effective people. Because in that era I think just dream just was all about dreaming being dusty, but that's his influence that he's had on so many people, and then we go back. I just watched that whole FCW special, and it's all you know there. Hey, we're doing fcw, FCW and then dusty steps in, and then once dusty stepped in, and you look at all the people he helped. Get over and like Bray. Wyatt Roman reigns Jon. Moxley the Girls Bailey Sasha Charlotte. And everyone just telling everyone there, so blessed to have learned under dusty, and that's why I'm saying like. We're watching this man and all these. There were kids and I'm sure they were dusty kids, but now they're grown ass, men and women and they're they're. They're in their prime changing their business the business, but they were. Infants in this business when and they all sat under that learning tree, which is invaluable knowledge, and why they are where they're at in their careers. Well, we talked about the feuds and the matches in the moments like I know for you seeing dusty that night like you said walking on air, but you put number one the greatest of all time, and it's been I mean dozens and dozens of just amazing feuds, but you pick dusty and cabin solve, and what why to you that the greatest feud of all time? I it honestly had. Such. Personal I watched growing up as a kid, but I believed I believed and dusty and everything that he said you know we could pick up a comic book and read about Superman, but we know it's a comic. We can watch sporting events. You know of our talking this. The mid seventies early eighties. Jackson The New York Yankees. They're winning every world series, but you know what Reggie Jackson struck out. Sometimes dusty wouldn't let you down. Dusty would continue to fight for the people and everything that he did you know the son of a plumber, the common man it was like you. He was fighting for you and the realistic angles that they did the guy bleeding buckets for you. The Guy Crying on television than. Than going basis, I'm going to kick your ass and like if you look at some of the attire that he'd wear, it's insane if a baby face came out like that today, but here's a guy with a big bell, and he's wearing a half shirt, or here's a guy with a big bell, and he's wearing a shirt, open or his wearing these rick flair type, robes, and women are kissing them..

"It opened, and with all these specials that we've been doing it. I would have nobody by my side, doing a show like this and doing a show on the American dream, dusty Rhodes. Then the innovator of violence, the landlord of the House of hardcore himself, the one and only Tommy Dreamer. How are you Tommy? I'm doing okay and man. This show is really really special to me. As you know, he was my hero. He's the reason. I became a professional wrestler and the fact that I get to say dusty. Rhodes was my eurest erased. Dearest Friend a mentor and I I love him I wear yellow on my pants and POLKA DOTS on every one of my wrestling outfit, so people never forget him and blessed to When they say you you don't WanNa. Meet your childhood idols but dusty. Never let me down and he never let me down in the rainy. Never let me down as a friend and really happy to be talking about this. And I'm really excited to talk about the American. Dream Dusty Rhodes tonight. I mean unfortunately it's five years since the passing of dusty Rhodes and I can't believe it's already been five years, Tommy, but unbelievable five years since we lost a legend, the American dream dusty Rhodes but man. When you think of Dusty Rhodes, there's so many memories of moments and matches and promos. He is definitely wanted to greatest of all time. And also I mean his influence today we watch every single week by the men and women that he helped become either wwe superstar or a e W superstars, or working in impact wrestling of honor, new Japan his. What his vision you know with the war games Star K great American Bash like so many things that were out of his mind. We're all still celebrating and watching either on pay per view besides his, you know his son, cody, basically stepping in and filling those big big shoes being kind of one of the faces of eighty w and the amazing progression of the Natural Dustin Rhodes so How do we not talk? To me, it's you go and you talk about baseball. You mentioned Babe Ruth and you go talk about football and you mentioned Vince Lombardi and this is the impact that dusty Rhodes has had on our industry. Yeah, let's go back to the beginning dusty. Rhodes is somebody who you know flirted with professional football. He had a couple of cup of coffees with different teams in the NFL, but it was pro wrestling. That was always his dream. You know something. He used to play Russell and with his brother, and make you know an imaginary rang and use like a garden hose as the ropes of the rank, said something that. That dusty Rhodes always wanted to do and I I guess Tommy you could say he really became more of a national superstar as early as delayed sixties when he teamed up with a Dick Murdoch as one of the members of the Texas outlaws absolutely, and you know also knowing dusty and man. I used to sit with dusty all the time when we were both worked and W, re work right down the hall. And we're friends already from E C W but like I would ask him so many questions, and he would call me a mock and him I go cake and I asked you a mock question and he bled. Go ahead and I would ask about his early beginnings. He kind of bullshitted his way into the business and bullshit is way into getting his first push, but he could talk, and he could bullshit, and he had that natural charisma, and when he first then he got the talent and ability with Dick Murdoch and they really read like. Like toward a up especially as heels, and they were one, they were main eventers. Dream was a main of enter early on in his career, but once he hooked up with Murdoch in these two and their stories are legendary an all this you know we. We're doing all these special. Talking about all the different territories, there are so many like ties to dusty Rhodes in every single one, but they were a gigantic heel tag team, especially for the AWA and working everywhere, but just because of like the inciteful riots that these guys can put together. Yeah and then in nineteen, seventy four. You know moving to Florida championship wrestling from Florida. That was the year when he became the American dream dusty Rhodes in the match with Eddie, Graham and his son Mike Graham. You know and with Pop Song and Gary Hart and his corner. That's when the turn happened, and he became one of the greatest baby faces in the history of pro wrestling. And you know we've talked about the so much. You have to be such an amazing performer to turn in the middle of a match or the end of a match. We have seen dern randy savage's retirement ceremony at Wrestlemainia when he lost the ultimate warrior. We've seen it with a bread Haas. Brett Brett Austin at Wrestlemainia, where they both turned and dusty, and I've watched his match. You know you could find it on Youtube. A dusty would talk about pack song and it. They turned instantly when you say like like. They fell in love with him in a heartbeat, and then it was just like next level. Take offer dusty career in Florida, and then like the behind the scenes of him with the booking in all in Florida Georgia mid Atlantic. He just he also is smart enough, and you know after talked about it where putting himself getting on the cover as well as using that first national television with know superstation tbs, he was just always around the right time the right place, but his charisma. Carried him through and a Lotta. People really don't give them enough credit for his work rate, but dusty can go in the ring if you go back and you look at this guy who doesn't have this athletic body, but he was such a great athlete, and you would seem doing drop kicks coming off the top rope, doing stuff that you really don't see a guy with his physique and do and even like his punches and the flip flop and fly. He has speed and I know like cody's talked about just like him being such a great athlete and like playing baseball and There's a a clip going around of him shooting a three From an a real almost like a celebrity basketball game, and he just, and he does it only does it like just with such finesse, and if anyone's ever played basketball, they're playing against real athletes and to dust drain of three like that. Cody response he beat me all the time at horse. It was a natural athlete, and I you go back and watch any imaginary and I'm always I. I can't believe how much dusty could move. He would take bumps. A lot of guys in that era didn't, but he did. Yeah and we just recently Tommy did our top ten foods of all time and my number one was different than your number one, but the one thing that was in common with both our number ones is both had the American dream dusty. Rhodes in it and when we come back, we're going to talk about those great matches and those great foods will do that. When busted open remembers the American Dream Dusty Rhodes right here on. SIRIUSXM fire nation. The, rock. Show are Mike Tyson. Iconic name gave us the post on instagram and twitter. No.

"The Astros needed to cheat but yet here they were with this complicated scheme that let guys know what pitch was coming so for Dusty Baker. I think the on field managing is going to be the easiest part you know. Let Justin verlander go out there and throw one hundred twenty pitches. Don't let Alex Bregman and Jose Altuve do what they do. Best drive in runs get on base be absolutely Pesky to the opposition. I think managing what happens outside of the game. The the media questions that are gonNA come all year The things that are going to hear yelled at them from the crowd the fact that you know they may get hit with a few too many unintentional pitches this year. That really have a purpose that to me is going to be the biggest challenge dusty Baker faces do they retaliate. Do they get get in. Onfield melees with other teams or or do they move past this a different way. Ember do you think that dusty is just here as a a short term steward like to come in for a year whether the storm and then they'll move on to someone else. It certainly seems like with the way. His contract is structured. You know initially word broke out. It was two years and you're like Oh okay. Now it's only one year guaranteed with an option for the following year so now it looks like he's just going to be the guy to deal with the media storm to let this all kind of fizzle out over the next season but he's also expected to win because like I mentioned mentioned. This team is built to win now. Their farm system has kind of been pillaged over the years and now as part of their punishment they're going to lose draft picks. So there's going to be very dark period in Houston Astros baseball on the horizon but the way that contract is structured. It looks like Jim Crane has kind of already tipped his hand hand right. He doesn't want to be kind of backed into anything more than one year. which for a manager is a is a lot of uncertainty A lot of guys guys wouldn't accept that kind of deal but this is a very unique situation here. This is dusty Baker's last stop and very few managers get to step into a team they could win the world series and you know dusty Baker. He's already accomplished so much in his career. Both as a player and as a manager. And if you listen to him I'm in some of his recent interviews. He's really been enjoying his life after an excellent can't house retirement lie to you. It's been pretty nice actually and I could see my son play a lot and I've gotten to see like different universities. Different stadiums minor league stadiums. Still do some work with the giants you know. Life's good. So why does he want this job. I think when you look at this job this is never. We're GONNA come around again. This is not a group that you get to just step in and manage so the opportunity for that combined with the fact that this is it. This is the Mount Everest for Dusty Baker. He has never won a world series. He's never managed a world series winner. And that's always kind of been the one drawback on this terrific resume right. He's been through all these teams. Most of them have gotten better in that. You know the following year that he was there. He's is one league pennants Tsk. He's managed some of the games greats but he's never been able to win the world series and I think for a guy like that you just don't want to end it that way you just don't WanNa ended ended the way ended it in DC. We lost game five and you know kind of the rug was pulled out from under him. I think what happened in. DC left a bad taste in his mouth and and he's always wanted that one more chance at a world series and this comes gift wrapped. We'll Brit thanks so much for speaking with me. What are some of the Knox against him? The biggest one has to be the postseason. He has a major league record ten consecutive losses in Elimination Games. But that's an alarming number. Let's be honest. Oh Yeah. He's managed a billion grabs your attention so when you narrow it down to ten are very small sample size but those are the ten biggest games. She's managed he was not renewed from the nationals contract because he lost in back to back years in the National League Division series The nationals channels had some epic collapses and Dusty Baker was front and center after more postseason disappointment in DC the nationals are moving on from manager dusty. St Baker Baker led the nets to the postseason in each of his two seasons with the club but couldn't get past the division series. The nationals were one hundred ninety two in one hundred thirty two in two years under Baker will winning their first back to back division titles in team history. Winning percentage was the best in franchise history story for a manager who led the team for at least a full season when he managed with the giants. In what would have been a world series clinching game. They blew that game dogs and of course they went on to lose the world series so the biggest thing for him is. He's got such a great regular season records. Such a great track record but teams have struggled to win those big games and he's never won a world series because of that. And that's probably the the biggest caveat when you're looking at a guy who has a very strong case to be in the hall of fame and what's been the reaction to his hiring particularly among Astros fans I I think Astros fans are sort of Split on the matter. There is a group of people who obviously look at those ten consecutive playoff losses You know in meaningful games. Look at him on the biggest stages say or we're not going to be able to win now because dusty Baker's teams don't win and then there's a faction of people who are like like you know what this organization needed to be cleaned up. We needed to be rid of the cheating and the only way to do that is to bring in an old school hard. Ask Guy who will absolutely not let anything go off book but I think a good faction of the fan base even if they don't agree with dusty Baker would agree that this was the right. Move to hire a veteran guy. A Guy who's GonNa take the heat off the players guy was going to make sure the players deal with this appropriately really in spring training. This was absolutely the right move And whether as a fan you agree with the XS and os and the way dusty manages a game I I think most fans can kind of see that this was really the only avenue for Jim craned take Given everything that had happened but but at the same time you know this is the age of sabermetrics and it seems like the Astros in particular have really put a premium on data and analytics is dusty. I choice for Houston well. I think he's a good choice. If for no other reason than he's a good manager the last four teams that he managed one ninety gains. You'd never know that from the way that people talk about them but the way that people talk about him has a lot to do with what they feel is his resistance toward analytics in baseball. which brings us to him? Managing the so given that isn't dusty. Baker kind of an odd fit. The Astros did lose. Aj hinch their manager. They did lose their general manager. Jeff Lon how would they didn't lose though was the rest of their staff so they're still going to have all of that Info they are still going to be an analytically Driven Club that entire coaching staff is returning so dusty. Baker is going to have all of that information. He's going to learn how to use that information if he didn't already and I think every manager now knows that antics is not just a something you can throw to the side. You have to be able to folded into what you're doing. You have to be able to use it and I think what sets dusty Baker apart is he has so much in game real life experience to go with those numbers that you can kind of be the tie-break There so oh well it looks like a weird higher for the Astros. I think it's great. Because he brings that human element already bring some of those things that we had heard the Houston Astros Organization. TATION was missing. You know for years they were the envy of the League but people hated them and they hate them because they were good. They hated them because they weren't good at dealing with the people and I think dusty Baker really and I've heard it from so many people already got a hate the astros but man I love dusty Baker I can't root against them now. Dusty Baker gives them that feel. He gives them that element he humanizes. This team that has been dehumanized all winter. Well and wasn't that sort of the point like everyone loves dusty. So that's why the Astros wanted to be their manager. I don't know if that was the point. Don't Jim Crane to to win any fans. I think you can't run a professional sports team worried about are the fans GonNa like. This are the fans not gonNa like this. I think you have to to run the organization the best way you see fit and just hope it works out because fans are going to be on board if you win but certainly when you look at the immediate respect around the league this is probably the best. Pr Move. They could have made and team. Image concerns aside. What do you think are the biggest challenges he'll be facing? I think the biggest biggest challenge all year is going to be to convince people that they're legit that these winds are legitimate. Wins because this team is stacked you know that was kind of what frustrated frustrated. A lot of people didn't even seem.

"Sirat. How much of a black chuck I do the Houston Astros have right now? Pretty Big One I think kind of an unprecedented one really When you look at it a lot of players feel like Third there are different avenues for cheating but the way that they cheated The detail and the extent that went into this scandal. This is a team. This is an organization in that right now. cannot do enough to in terms of trying to at least attempt to start to repair that image. Because you know they were sure that model franchise for the last few years and now that whole thing has come into question. Everything they've done has come under fire and so as they were looking to fill old. They're managing vacancy after. Aj hinch was suspended by Major League Baseball and then fired by the Astros. What were their top priorities? They needed a a veteran. It was very clear early. In terms of some of the candidate names that surfaced that they were going to go after a guy who had experienced that it was going to be a case where they wanted somebody that they could trust to manage that image and to make sure that this doesn't happen again and it seems like this was a pretty quick turnaround around. As far as hiring goes particularly given the circumstances. Do we know how wide their search was and how many other managers interviewed for the job. So so there's about nine names that surface that I would consider under heavy consideration that interviewed that astros owner Jim Crane Had on his proverbial list so it was done quickly. Although the mets who lost their manager Carlos Beltran were able to and they lost Beltran after. Aj hinch they were. We're able to fill that hole Even sooner the red socks of course the other team implicated in this with Alex. Cora has yet to name a manager as of right now so so they filled it pretty quickly Nine candidates to me shows that Jim Crane did is due diligence and so overall why was dusty Baker. The guy that the Astros wanted. Why have they gone old school when you look at everything that they were accused of in this day and age being at the forefront of analytics using that technology to cheat? They wanted somebody who maybe wasn't as well known In terms of analytics is more old school He can blend the information information that they have with the time tested strategies in the dugout and do so in a legal fashion. They wanted someone who had a strong sense of morality and in that you have dusty Baker. So you're dealing with someone who has a lot of life experience no matter what you say or do someone who's thirty or forty years old just it doesn't have the same vantage as a seventy year. Old Dusty Baker does and I think in this case having that kind of vantage having that life that's been lived and having so many lessons from spending forty eight of the last fifty years involved in the sport of baseball in some capacity. I think that was important to Houston. So let's talk talk about his life a little bit for starters when he first came into the League as a teenager in the late nineteen sixty s one of his teammates and mentors was hank. Aaron will aw. I was closer age to his kids and I was to. Him is fifteen years between something like that because see. I couldn't go out. I couldn't even drink soda with his kids. You know what I mean and I was hanging with Hanky and Rendova and Gail and and Larry and So I was over there almost every day. Wow how many people Still Alive can kind of talk about a legend like Hank Aaron the the way the Dusty Baker can walking a lot and hang said. Hey man don't try to hit a home run. You just get doubles and singles and driving around somebody on base. And that's why That's what I did learn it at a very young age hitting the clutch had a pretty good career as a player helped the dodgers dependents in nineteen seventy seven thousand nine hundred seventy eight. They won the World Series Nineteen eighty-one back. It was known as hard hitting outfielder primarily with the braves dodgers and he was known as a baseball guy. I as a guy who included everyone. You went out of his way to become friends with his teammates. You know he didn't just want to coexist with people Whether he was playing well whether he wasn't implant His demeanor and the way he approached people never really seemed to change and he's often credited as the first person to ever do a high fiving giving baseball. Yes yes That that is kind of become a big deal with Former dodgers teammate. Glenn Burke dog all over the country to bless me. Hey man the U.. Hi Five House like No. I didn't invent the high five. All I did was respond to Glen. I guess when you've been involved in baseball offer now almost fifty years you're going to. They're going to have some interesting history but pretty cool when you think about it. I can't keep up with now. But they do the boom boom and the booty and then it's like you guys keep up on all this stuff and sometimes in interviews August e will drop these references to guys that he played with. And it's like wow. This dude played through the civil rights. Era I play with Satchel page. It is with us in Atlanta so crazy. He's the call me Daffy all the time and I was I was just caddy. Say Hey look man. My name is dusty. He says Daffy I know what your name is. So I've just answered the Daffy that was business. Yeah I mean you you WanNa talk about out kind of a reporters favorite you look dusty Baker. I mean he's a guy who you can sit in his office and just listen to him. Tell stories all day he is not afraid to say what he thinks and I think in two thousand twenty that's more rare than we realize. All right so he's obviously had a very successful career as a player and a manager. He's he's a three time manager of the year one seven division titles with four different teams. What would you say is his managerial style? So He's known as players manager sure but he's a great players manager and we need some some help there right now and he can step in and do the job so we're very happy to have guys kind of forget that he's in fact their manager that he's not a player. I heard from a one player in particular the other day. And he said I think very highly dusty and always will he took me in as a rookie and made me feel like a ten year veteran. He showed me a kid from a community of five hundred people. It didn't matter where I was. I could do big things. I'll always have have respect for him. Because of that. That kind of encapsulates. What dusty is about guys will literally run through a wall for him There is no star treatment with him. There's just just treatment and I think that matters when you're looking at you know kind of getting past a scandal. You're looking at coming together. You're looking at forming that bond Dusty Baker to me is the perfect choice to create that culture in the Houston Astros clubhouse and how important would you say that toothpicks are to his success as a manager. Sure I think they're huge. I think it's just kind of become who he is. Especially now later in life. You kind of reminds you of like that old GRANDPA who who you can just again sit listen stories in his office And he's got that toothpick in his mouth. It's just very on brand for dusty Baker for such a calming presence. It it's just him. You can't close your eyes and imagine dusty Baker without that toothpick..

"Yes big. Welcome in Golden State media concepts baseball. PODCAST I'm your host Lucas more and fairly big day actually in the world baseball baseball for the month of January rolling into February. Obviously spring trainings will commence before we even know it. And then you'll blink an eye and all all of a sudden. The baseball season will be in full. Swing it happens very fast just like spring coming usually happens fast. Hopefully it'll happen fast fast here in the city of Chicago I would hate for winter to extend itself With my first winter here Usually spring comes pretty quickly and suddenly throughout most of the country. And that's what I'm going to hope it's happening here but it is a big news day before we get to all those stories that I want to get into do it. I want to remind you to follow Jesus. MCC baseball on twitter there's an underscore between MC and baseball give us a a follow there and that helps us rate subscribe review. All those fun things. It helps the podcast. It helps me out. It makes everything better in an easier. We like to know when you enjoy the show so please do all of that. Dusty Baker is the new manager of the Astros will dime into that in just a second second Kris Bryant losing his grievance case with Chicago cubs. What does that mean? Why is that important? And that conversation will lead us into Mookie Betts and then from there we'll talk about this new essentially luxury tax. That's what they call it in basketball. They have a different term for it in baseball. But it's all the same thing thing penalties for spending a lot of money on players. Is this working to replace. What many have asked for for such a long time in baseball? which is a salary cap? We'll discuss that. Plus I WANNA make my argument for the designated hitter in the National League and collegiate baseball. I WANNA touch on his well because we had confirmation mation that one of the people that tragically died on the helicopter with Kobe. Bryant was a summer Collegiate League baseball coach and I want to kind of emphasize emphasize. I've a really unique perspective on it. How important summer collegiate baseball is what it is and why it matters to so many players that are currently only in Major League Baseball and why that loss does mean a lot to the baseball community? But that's all a little bit later. The show where I wanted to start is a place place that I get to ring the Bell and say yes I was right. The Astros were of the same mindset as me and that is with dusty Baker Dusty Baker Baker former manager of the nationals where he won ninety five and ninety seven games of the giants where he took them to the National League pennant of the reds where he led them to the playoffs for the first time since nineteen ninety-five at the beginning of the twenty tonnes former manager of the cubs where he was Steve. Bartman and then a bunch of mistakes made by the Chicago cubs away from taking the cubs to their first world series in a very long time at the beginning of this millennia dusty Baker one of the most respected managers in the major leagues has a bad reputation because he has never won a world series. He has consistently. He failed in the postseason. But the Astros following this major scandal needed respect. They needed somebody who the entire locker room understood knows what they're doing can listen to can bring integrity back in the game that the media you can trust that the organization can put him out there and be respectable. That's dusty breaker. One hundred percent brings in terms of what you need from a PR perspective from your manager following this type of situation for the Houston Astros. He brings that that respect level and the astros mention that in their press. Release about the respect of the game. The respect of other teams that will bring the astros by dusty Baker being in the full he brings respect. I mean other organizations other clubs other players other managers there's we'll always respect dusty bake that that's one thing you've always heard about the guy how much they respect them in every organization that's fired dusty. Baker has mentioned how much they respect. What Dusty Baker is done? And and to me. It's because he's a great manager. It's hard to be that successful in so many places uses and not be a great manager and I understand the world series thing hasn't happened it. Maybe it's because he can't get guys motivated for the play offs but to me I tend to think it's more of A. The playoffs in baseball are near impossible. In Dusty Baker's statistical anomaly to aware. It just hasn't happened for the whole thing's a crapshoot. Just because you have the best team does not mean you will win in the baseball playoffs. And he's just had bad luck. I think that that is certainly possible for dusty bake and it could happen at any time I really have have felt dusty Baker that he's had teams where can happen at any time now. My opinion was different after when I was a big time Cincinnati reds. It's fan still pretty big time. Cincinnati Reds Fan. I'm pretty honest about my phantom on this show it's not gonNA determine topics or anything like that but I love the Cincinnati reds threats in Dusty Baker may fall in love with the Cincinnati reds. And I got angry I got upset. I wanted dusty Baker gone after their failure in two thousand thirteen after they got bounced from the wild card game in embarrassing showing in Pittsburgh after being swept by the pirates and the season to end up in the wildcard game. I said this guy just can't win big games. What are the reds do over the next five seasons without dusty Baker? Oh it's the worst five year stretch in Cincinnati reds history and it took me about two years to be like man I I regret the wanting dusty Baker fired from that point on. I've thought he's a great manager and it's a shame that the nationals got over the Hump Without Him. It's a real shame. It's a shame that there's so many teams that have won the world series after he left left now maybe a few years cubs about fourteen years after he left giants was about eight years after he left nationals. Couple years after he left. Read still haven't done it. We'll see eh but dusty Baker's great manager especially when there's a highly talented team because he understands how to coach talented players how to get the the best out of talented players how to mold a roster like Klay and get him to play well throughout a regular season and what the Astros can lean on here is hey our guys know how to win in the postseason. They don't need a manager to teach them how to win in the postseason. They just need a manager. That's going to be listened to by the locker room that can be molded and can listen to the front office. which dusty Baker signing a one year contract will certainly listen the Astros Analytical based front office? He won't be rejecting of any of that already coach to the moneyball era twice with the reds reds and then with the nationals and had success twice in this era so the analytics thing is not a worry for me at all and maybe when they get to the post this season the astros made the argument to themselves. Well our players know how to win there and we don't necessarily need dusty to teach them how to win in the postseason. We just need to make sure this regular season goes right and it's important for baseball that this regular season comes right and I mentioned that on the show before dusty Baker ensures to me that the Astros are going to win ninety five games which ensures to me because we know there won't be cheating this year and you can say on how well it's going to be such a microscope and people will get banned end from baseball. If there's cheating again the astros will go down in absolute flames. It'll be the most embarrassing cheating scandal in sports history if they get caught again during this season the whole league should be clean on in terms of video replay just for this year until a new loophole is found when it's this much of a stink this much of a PR hassle when all the media and fans are going to be looking for it every game. You'd be silly to borderlines stupid if you tried to cheat this year in terms of video replay in stealing signs signs. Everybody's going to be on their best behavior. We know that and to me the Astros winning ninety five to one hundred games would silence those who think that at the cheating is the only reason they were one of the best teams in baseball. Now some will say they have to win the world series to prove otherwise but to me. Winning Ninety five to one hundred game shows does that there are a team. That's good enough to win the world series if things break right for them in the postseason and I think dusty Baker ensures that the astros will be that this this year because how many times has dusty Baker had a highly talented team and they win ninety five plus Games. It's happened a bunch of bunch. Even let her read Steve. That probably didn't deserve to win. Ninety seven games to a ninety seven win seasons probably more of a ninety one win team. So he's an elevator. He's a stabiliser stabiliser. He's a respect bringer. He's one of my favorite managers in the history of baseball. And I hope honestly that he wins the world series with Houston Astros if not this year the next year because no other manager deserves to win a world series more that hasn't won then dusty Baker because of what he's done and for the game of baseball how he's acted in each locker room and dugout. He's been in how gracious he's been every time he's been let go from these situations. How many players love him around the league? He's a beloved character and it'd be awesome for him to bring respect back to the Astros to prove that this entire cheating scandal wasn't as impactful in terms of wins and losses as everybody wants to say it is to save a little bit of integrity in the game of baseball that'd be awesome to see from Dusty Baker in twenty twenty. I'm really really excited. Really happy. That the Astros decided to go with this move buck showalter to me would have been a stretch. He's not as guaranteed. He had some failures in Baltimore. He's had some some failures throughout his career to me. Dusty Baker is one hundred percent the right and safe higher. And I'm glad that the Houston Astros made that decision Kris Bryant lost grievance case. He'll spend two more years in Chicago or we'll heat. We'll talk about the ramifications of the free agent trial from the Star Third Baseman. In in Chicago that comes up on the other side of the break. You're listening to the GSM see baseball podcast. But I think what it meant was anytime you quit something. Don't be disappointed that, that are we surprised that you failed? You can't quit on projects that you that mean things to you. You should quit on anything. You start to finish what you start. But basically, it's all summed up in a nutshell SUNA if you turn in New Jersey. Can't be on my team. So it made sense in his own way. It made a lot of sense. I use that today I see young talent seminars and meet and greet. Thanks like that. Conrad what What have I have got? I got you, you, you can't quit? You're not gonna make any money. You're not gonna get rich right now. But you can't quit if you quit, you know what the, the, the inner self it's going to be not where you want to be. So he was that was a big thing to me. And I, I believe that to this day, if you're committed to something, this stay with it, don't quit because the quarter quitting thing, just don't work for anybody. Well, and we hope that you guys don't quit listening to grill JR, we're looking forward to next week. We've got the whole schedule of shows coming your way..

"It the name is it is the bend the name. No wait. What do you mean by that? You'd be like van Halen. Like the name now, the name is the name of the band, the name come on. Karen, like, yes, I like the name. Look, if that came through correctly, it would've killed. Yeah. But, you know, I didn't through correctly. He didn't do anything. The name of the band is the name, and I feel like you're actually still out in the hallway anybody understand the question. No, I'm could yes. He's saying like like the guests who or the who he's saying is the name of the band the name. Oh, god. Get out. Get outta here. I'm not kidding. This guy's obviously got a gun on him. Dusty shoot him the fucking balls. What are you doing with this shit, man? If it would come through, it would have been. Edition. This is what a cool down this weekly he's rotten. Hi, good. Lord. He knows. He didn't get the rolling still feels positive energy in the room. And then you fuck it up with that shit. I feel positive about it. It's lucky to be on the fucking podcast to begin with. And now he doesn't think he's at all because that should happen, if you feel positive about his change, your medication because you should not feel good about that something's wrong if the worst joke fails and you got to fail, did you not think it's important to get debt? I didn't say it didn't fail. Concept is strong and your concept, what strong. That's where we disagree wasn't see. There's also a time where a standing up comedian, you get on stage and go you deliver up. You know what that's on me? That things not ready. You blamed the audience. Takes time rewrite it come back. Yeah. I thought he was blaming his execution. But I think it was a double failure. Conceptual issues. We're involved gets all art. You just got to adapt to the art and the art doesn't succeed you. So it is our fart again. All of comedy. Yes. He's blaming the art all of comedy comedies broken dusty now that it did make us feel things. So maybe maybe after all the point. All right. Art. We did feel something rage. By the way, you know, this, I do not subscribe to the many road comic will say you never blame the audience fuck that noise, it could be them a lot of times. I agree with that good for you dusty because you, you met these guys in the road. Oh, you never blamed them. Well, you're out of your fucking mouth. You blame that, yes, you have to get. They can't there. I don't know what we talked about this before. I don't know why three hundred people will get in a room or microbes. I don't know why eighty seven a room and all the side. We're not.
