"There is going to participate in the Olympics. We wish him well. It's a great honour. Let let me ask you this because you said yourself before you're 43 will be 44 during the Olympics. With with all the pursuits of bull speed and the measurements and the numbers in the distance, you know, like the Shambo, the mad scientist everybody's chasing numbers that seemed unattainable for a long time. At 43. Do you still tinker that much with your game? Or you pretty much settled into this is who I am. This is what I do. Well, this is how I get ready for the event and I don't need to get that radical. How do you deal with the changes to the game? Yeah, I don't get that involved with it, but I'm lucky and one of the reasons I've had longevity is I've always been a guy who's been strong and I've always had a ball speed. And I think that's where you've seen a lot of guys who haven't had the ball speed or the ball striking skills. They've just been lapped these last few years. I can still get it out there. Um, you know if you need me to hit, you know for guys who are numbers geeks, you know, I can get over 120 club speed. I can put the ball speed in the You know, Hop into the one eighties. Um so I'm not that far behind, you know, without that, Yeah. Look, if I kind of see these kids now, and I'm like, Hey, kids, if you don't hit as far as me of 43 honestly. You don't have a lot of chance because it just keeps Keeps getting foster and foster and faster. Um it's an interesting is, though, isn't it? Because all these guys you talk about, um you know what that is Shambo or Jon Rahm, who gets the gospel out there. Everybody still has the other skills you need, which is the touch around the greens and soft hands and and the soft skills to hit. Amazing variety of shots. Look it. You know how much of it is equipment? How much it is the athlete. I don't think we get enough credit. I don't think golfers get enough credit that we actually put effort into it. And our And have an athletic move. I think that's kind of been forgotten. I'm also look, it's I think that the cat is out the bag now or the or the horses bolted. So to speak, Um I don't think they they They know how to significantly roll it back. And you know, I've got sponsors as well. I'm one of my partners is a is a very prominent. Let's just say the best falling golf and, um, you know, so I'm not going to speak about sort of rolling a golf ball back. Why would I my profession to get out there and smash it into play as well as I can. But, um, It is a part of our game now, and it is here to stay. But I will say this. It's also an exciting part. That's what people want to see. Yeah, we we love the We love the distance. We love the athleticism and by the way, the only people who don't respect that you get what you guys do have never picked up a golf club before bingo and attempted and failed miserably like to be in a BT and I do on a regular basis. Yes. Hey, look, Paul, The Travelers Championship is this weekend on the golf channel. On the Tuesday Thursday and Friday and then on CBS on June 26 27th this weekend and it's an exciting one. It always, obviously is an exciting one and fans are back. Obviously, we saw this last weekend we saw at the PGA Championship Do they not have covid quick key was like no math, right? But you know how? How excited are you that golf feels normal again. Fans are back. You've already got three majors down, which is it feels weird to say that given what's happened over the last couple of years, the changing of the schedule but obviously covid the year before I mean, it feels it feels like things are returning to normal. I'm sure for you guys and the travelers this weekend is going to be fantastic. It is first of all travelers is one of the best events we have on the PGA Tour exploded. By the players year after year, year and year out as kind of one of our favorite events for multiple reasons. It's a great golf course and all the rest of it, But it's the people that are here in Hartford, and it's travelers to put their heart and soul behind this thing. We get great crowds by the way, and you look at that and and that feeds itself and you talk about some of the players of the plane this week. Um, I mean, it's It's kind of who's who, you know. I mean, probably the favorite this week would be something like a Other Watson or Bryson or Dustin Johnson and, um I lost my train of thought there, But it's What was the question, guys? Well, no, it's listen. It's an event that just about how great the travelers it's a great I love it. I love the unique set up at the court. It seems to be a very uniquely like sit like the golf course. Just looks different than the other courses on TV to me, Paul. The problem was I didn't actually ask you a question. I just made it just making a statement, weren't you, But it's like, you know, Thank you point You know travelers is one of the first events I played last year. It was no fans and it was it was disappointing. But the fan element in every sport I think golf is is highly impactful. Is that the fans add an element of stress. And, um, something to the sport that you just unique, You know the pressure. I mean, imagine Phil coming down the stretch it that here with no fans. It's just not the same, and we saw a lot of guys compete. Let's be honest. Very well when there was nobody around, But now we've got people back. We're kind of seeing you know who's you know, sorting the men out from the boys. So to speak. I mean, imagine playing a right a couple of major championship in front of nobody. No way. Same guys. No chance. No, I'm I'm somebody who is Very much welcomed the fans back, you know, because I like to compete in front of people. I'd like to have a little bit of fun, sometimes in big, grumpy, but the majority of the time I'm smiling and whether it's a You know, kind of us, you know, sleepy crowd or let's say a fired up New York crowd or something like that you get at Bethpage. I love it What it's all about, And so Yeah, look, and I'm so thankful and then all the other things that happen that people don't even mention the more fans. We get, by the way, the more charity money that's raised and all these other things that then impact the local community, So it's really, really important thing to get these people back out there. And Yeah, I mean, look, it looked like it was no covid down in here. Well, but, um You know, I can't wait for people to be out here this week in Hartford and enjoy the crowd, enjoy the great feel that we're going to have it. It's a treat. I've got one more thing for. It's an easy thing, but I want to let it again. Everybody is coming up this weekend is going to be on the golf Channel. Obviously, we'll have it on CBS June 24th through the 27 on the Golf Channel. June 26th 27th over the weekend on CBS and all the social media updates throughout the way your golf fan you know about this event, the umbrella the little I could see the logo. I remember watching Dustin Johnson win it a year ago. Um, you know, Jimmy fjord shot of 58 or 59. Whatever it was. I mean, I love this event. Here's my question for you, though, Paul, when you so I assume you're you're in Connecticut now, because tomorrow, the pro and probably more practice about you're in Connecticut right now, Correct. I am. And I'm Hartford right now. I played the golf course today. We got a little bit of rain right now. So everybody kind of walked off the golf course. Because obviously, you know, we're a little bit soft, and we don't play in rain in practice rounds, But, yeah, I'm ready to go. Okay. But how does it work?.

The Masters: Justin Rose digs deep to regain lead

"Justin rose shoots an even par seventy two to maintain the lead here at augusta national. He's followed on the leaderboard by will Taurus and brian harman one shot back of the leader at six under par other. Notables on the leaderboard include jordan. Spieth at five under tony fee now in justin thomas are both at four under some superstars. Missed the cut friday including westwood rory mcilroy and defending masters champion dustin johnson. We'll discuss each of those players day coming up here on the podcast with. Nbc's jimmy roberts. The voice of masters digital justin rose was the thirty six hole leader once before here at the masters in two thousand four. The seventeen year gap of thirty six hole leads for him is the longest gap in masters history. But certainly rose hopes to finish a bit differently. This time around in two thousand four. He finished the master's tournament tied for twenty second and one other interesting nugget of information. There have only been five wire to wire masters champions ever jordan. Speak in two thousand fifteen. Raymond floyd in nineteen seventy six. Jack nicklaus in nineteen seventy-two arnold palmer in nineteen sixty and craig wood in nineteen forty one following his second round. Seventy two justin rose spoke with the media. Here's what he had to say thing. The thing is i was just joking. The fingers kind of heading towards the panic buying a little bit But did i talk myself on on eight. And said you know you still leading the masters and i just change my mindset a little bit and started to play matchplay against the golf course scratcher line on my scorecard and told myself as three down and could i go ahead and beat the golf course from that point on so i had a part in eighteen to win my match. One up unfortunately slip.

Saturday at the 2020 Masters

"Saturday at the masters in dustin. Johnson is running away. He carries a four shot lead into the final round sunday. Following a seven under sixty five saturday he was masterful tying jordan speiss fifty four hole record chasing johnson on the leaderboard are sung j. M abraham answer and cameron smith all four shots back while justin thomas and dylan 'fratelli sit five shots back following his round saturday. I called up with dustin johnson. Seven hundred sixty five news. Dustin johnson to sixteen under through three rounds. What did you do well saturday. And what if anything would you like to do. Better sunday I did everything while today. Adrover very nicely head. A bunch of fairways Hit a lot of greens and felt like i. I gave myself good chances on your on almost every hole. and so. that's kind of what you gotta do here. In the conditions. Not a lot of wind you know. Courses is fairly soft so you can be aggressive and Strike in a very nicely today And so you know tomorrow. We'll have to go out and do a lot of the same if i to win. Tied jordan speeds fifty four hole record. What's the balance between staying aggressive and not being dumb Well for me. It all depends on you know. Flag positions numbers Forgot a good number. And and i like the flag is a play aggressive but Like i said the course right now is is very receptive so you know i know the guys behind me are going to be trying to chase down south. You know you can't play you know there's a there's definitely a fine line of being too conservative and too aggressive but you just have to pick and choose my spots second last year. How did that impact your motivation. This time around. I mean yeah it was. I've played well last year. I played while the last couple years so obviously this one tournament that that i definitely want to win and you know. It means a lot to me. A- grew up so close to here and so it is something that i really look forward to until tomorrow is going to be a. It's gonna be a lot of funding. I'm gonna try to enjoy myself as much as i can and Hopefully hopefully outcomes good tomorrow afternoon. You heard dustin johnson say right there how badly he wants to win the masters. It's the dream of every player in the field in this eighty. Four th edition for more analysis on the third round and what to expect sunday. Let's bring in the voice of masters digital jimmy roberts. Dustin carries a four shot lead into sunday following a seven hundred sixty five saturday. He was masterful. Tying jordan speiss fifty four hole record assess his performance on saturday. A great it was basically as good as you could get You know you said it. He tied the fifty four hole scoring record. It is a different time of year. But i don't think it really matters. I mean the thing that sticks out to me is that you know through fifty four holes. He's got two bogeys which is unimaginable. On this golf course and they were in consecutive holes. Fourteen and fifteen in the second round. And when you stop to think about it he bogeyed the second easiest hole on the course which means that by all rights. He should probably expect to birdie the fifteen th hole. You give him two more strokes and he's just farther ahead of the pack. But i will just say this. I was here in nineteen ninety six and i covered that masters where greg norman had six stroke lead and nick faldo came back to win it so i mean this course can do things to you i mean. I think that there were extenuating circumstances that year. Norman had some physical difficulties. That didn't manifest until the final day and faldo played effortlessly. I think he shot sixty seven It's gonna take that for somebody to beat him tomorrow Somebody's going to have to play really really well. And he's going to have to stumble. What is it about this golf. Course that suits his game so well. Well i mean at this point really. He's the number one player in the world and he's as they like to say in europe he's on form so you know. He's a finely tuned engine right now and He's not even close to the red line. So i mean he is just got it all going on right now. I mean he's you know. I always say that you know. These are the best golfers in the world on on a week to week basis. You know you shouldn't be surprised if somebody you've never heard of comes up and wins a tournament because they are all remarkably talented. But he's the best of all of them right now and he is playing really well You know we've talked about this over the last couple of days. He you know he's long and straight which is tough to beat and then a couple of years ago. He decided that in order to get better you had to work on his wedge game so he went and did that he's become a terrific putter and he's completely unflappable. He i think. And i think that's the most important thing i think he's a guy who just does not get undone by much. I just asked him a few moments ago. what's the balance between maintaining the aggression. That got you here without going too far. Yeah i'd i'd be curious to know what he said but in all honesty. I've never seen him loses. Temper made him. I've never seen him hot. I've never seen him running hot. I'd seen him disappointed disappointed. And you're not going to be able to see this on the podcasts. But you know it's just kind of an shucks wish i hadn't tripled that whole crazy when i do. Something you know like that He's really he's a talented man. Who's in stride right now and You know he's done a lot He's one everything but tons of majors. I mean he's tiger tiger woods. He's one in to start his career. He's won thirteen consecutive seasons to start his career. Only tiger woods is done that and he tied him tiger actually one in his first fourteen seasons. But i mean he just consistently wins you know and it's hard to beat talent you know and worth work ethic when you match those two things together. It's very difficult. Let's look at the leaderboard. That is chasing dustin johnson song j. m. abraham answer cameron smith all four shots back. Justin thomas and dylan for tally. Five shots back if you were going to pick one to catch him. I don't think there's any question. The person who watches is Is justin thomas. But the way sunday m is playing and things are different now than they used to be. You know it's been forty one years since a first timer has one here that was fuzzy zeller nineteen seventy-nine. You know i was with the jack nicklaus this morning doing something and He talks. Jack came here and he didn't win for the first five times that he played here. But this is a course more than any other course were experiences necessary. But look you've got answer and in two players who were here for the first time in their you know right nipping at his heels Sebastian munoz too. So i i do think that must not be worth as much as it has been in the past given the level of talent and work of these guys but you know you give me a guy who has the experience and a guy who doesn't of equal talent and at the same spot in their game. I'm gonna take the guy with experience at this place every single time. Rory mcilroy and brooks koepka. Both superstars both at eight. Under after three rounds. How plausible is it that they might contend on sunday. I think it's entirely plausible. I mean i think that you know mcelroy's trending in the right direction after that seventy five in the first round which was disastrous for him. Just can't seem to get out of his own way sometimes but he's got a game. That's ideally suited for this place. He hits it high far and straight. His natural shot is right to left You know he's been number one in the world he's not undone by these big situations. Generally i think he's going to be a very interesting guy to watch tomorrow. But in all honesty there's so much daylight between dustin johnson and the rest of the field at this point and it's not the daylight of four strokes. It's the daylight of four strokes with the number one player on the one side of that daylight. Who's playing well. And i mean. I think it's gonna take dustin johnson shooting seventy two or three tomorrow. I mean i suppose it could happen. You know greg. Norman shot seventy six. Nick faldo shot sixty seven That lead had evaporated by the tenth. Tentpole the eleventh hole So you never know. But i would be. I would be shocked. But i remember being augusta national in in One thousand nine hundred ninety six and remember all the stories that we were doing. And i did a story for. Espn that night. And i said you know it would be shocking if greg norman didn't win but if he doesn't it will be one of the biggest stories and we won't soon forget it and here. We are all these years later. Talking about it at augusta national right now.

"The way that outfits from John Graham and I'm making that up. Is that exactly what he wore yesterday? Down to the shoes. I'm gonna go look at some pictures to determine that's different. We've seen these guys over the years released their master scripting. That's a different way to do it. Just wear the same thing every day. Why not? It'll work. Worked for Albert Einstein. Rahm stays at 900 back to wit. Patrick Kent laid now his chance to join this group at nine under par. He's got the Navy blue shirt, Navy blue pants, white hats at the white Golf Glove sticking out of the back pocket takes a couple of quick looks at it settles his feet. Has that familiar routine does can't lay just outside of just inside of Rom's distance? Call this maybe 12 FT Away. Sends it on its way. And looking after it. How in the world did that not go. He's wondering, it rolled past the whole good. A couple of feet. Hard time judging the speed and by the way, Brian, this party is going to change significantly in a moment because just a moment ago before can't lay and Rahm hit their second shots. Dustin Johnson From 221 yards at Hole number two. Get it to 3 ft. So this party is going to change momentarily. Cantlie first now for par, we'll keep it here. This is about 4. Ft. Can't lease actually outside of what DJ has left for Eagle. So that is a par. Can't wait to remain at nine under. We're gonna stay right here. And I think that 3 ft Measurement is ah, little generous. This is about 18 inches for Dustin Johnson for eagle from 221 yards. To a tap in for.

Friday at the 2020 Masters

"It's friday at the master's and justin. Thomas began the day by playing the final eight holes of the first round ultimately finished the opening round at six under par. It's the first time he's ever broken par in round one. He almost immediately began the second round shooting three under to finish the day at nine under par overall after the first two rounds. Here's what justin had to say. Friday evening it was quick enough to where you didn't really quite have long enough to get out of any rhythm. I just as soon as i saw my card. I i went to the locker room. Describe a little bit of food when mark my golf balls for the next round and by then i turned around and i told john Who i work with and putting to me on the putting green by one or whatever one ten so i met him there a little bit after ten and we putts for a six seven minutes i mean within a couple of minutes we knew what was going on and And then we walked to the first heat about ten eleven pegged at ten fourteen. Three other players are tied with thomas atop the leaderboard. Including abraham answer cameron smith and world number-one dustin johnson after his round johnson described his mindset. Heading into the weekend a confirm up a little bit but be tougher to to get firm but yeah it's gonna you know we're still going to have to go out. I think it's going to be soft enough to where you're not attack the golf course by aggressive and keep swinging like am i like i like mad at like my position no matter the obviously like all be somewhere around the lead probably not in the lead but within a few shots at least and In a good position heading into the weekend just behind the leaders is a four way tie that includes last week's winner. Patrick can't lay and the number two ranked player in the world and the number two ranked player in the world. Jon rahm rahm is five under for the day with six holes yet to play in his second round. Five time and defending masters champion. Tiger woods began friday at four under par. And that's where. He ended the day as well after a pair of birdies and a pair of bogeys in the second round woods still has eight holes remaining in his second round effort. The most talked about competitor entering the tournament was not tiger woods. It was bryson the shambo who through twelve on friday his in jeopardy of missing the cut. He's one over par with six holes to play on the front nine alone friday. The shambo carded three birdies. Three bogeys and a triple bogey on the third during which he actually lost a ball.

"They're really well coached. I like them. Do you like them? And it's 5.5 points enough to get you to bite on Matt rule and his group. It's not, but I agree with everything on rule. I think he's done a great job with that roster. I think he's maxed it out. You touched on something there with those four straight losses. Now they've lost all four of those by eight points or less. I just think without Christian McCaffrey because he's not gonna play the Sunday even with him. I don't think they could run against this bucks. D So that means the goat be the spread. Teddy Bridgewater has to be big. And if you make him one dimensional, I think the Bucks defense to step up. Um, obviously Drew Brees and his noodle arm. Let him up before touchdowns last week, But all season long they've played a lot better. So I'm gonna go with them. I'm also going with the old dude. Tom Brady bouncing back. They have problems. Ah, no talent, isn't it? I think it was rock bottom on Sunday night, I hope was rock bottom. I still believe they will figure it out. And I think Carolina secondary is not good. So let's go. Tampa minus 5.5 at Carolina box minus 5.5. All right, so we've got the master's underway. I know that you had success hitting the U. S open on Friday of this year. Is that your same strategy with the Masters? And if so, who do you like? It is and I hit it. This A. M. And I actually had three instead of two. This time I hit the smartest, dumb guy in the course. Dustin Johnson, But I gotta Menton 4 50 Plus 4 50. I know a couple people who have got him around 800 or 900 some a little weight to that. I am going to hedge because I'm just a little bit greedy. So knows that plus 4 50. I'm also going Xander's sharply at plus 11 50. Because outside of Rahm, he's the best player in the world without a major. He finished second, the Tour championship. He's finished second the Masters a year ago. I think that's a good value play and also went with the chubby fella Patrick Reid. Win. Dustin Johnson was on roll earlier today and he got minus 10 Patrick Reid. He is that plus 3300 before the round started. He played great yesterday, Jim he wanted in 2018. And this year after the restart, he's had four top 10 finishes. So I'm going with Chubby Patrick Reid, Zander and nose Shafilea. Shockley. Tomato, Tomato. You're getting way too comfortable. I don't think you need. Listen. I've done this 30 years. Do you hear me? Calling Dustin Johnson the nose? No, no. Why are you doing it? I mean, that's the nickname Quit doing That's his nickname. You know, his nickname, I think is DJ. Egypt. Well so well, anyway, We got Twitter. Now. It's just getting awkward and cringing, man. You're getting way too comfortable. Dude. Is there anything that we missed on aside from those three picks The Masters. Those NFL games. Are you looking at anything else? What do you got? Browns? Obviously that covert news. I'm still seeing it on the board right now, But it's a dangerous one because it looked like the easiest one all week against the Houston Texans I saw minus three earlier in the week. It's It's dangerous to play because it looks so easy, but I did hit it. Um, So I just think that of course, it's dangerous. Dude, you're in the danger zone for right, and they should win that game. I mean, run games you get going. Houston's defense is terrible to Shawn Watson. He's actually been great. He's been really, really good. He's not getting up credit. It's just that defense is terrible. You could run it against Watson. And even since Romeo Purnell took over for Bill O'Brien, the defense is still terrible. So I went with the Browns minus three. So it's all right so really quickly. Big head if they want to. Aren't you directly on social and most of them already have. Where do they find you? At James? The number four for forehead. Kelly K E l l u R began job. Appreciate the picks. Good luck with it. Thank you. Let's make some money or let's be entertained. I've created like a monster like dude already looks like Frankenstein. Now he's acting like him. He's nosing DJ. I'll just stick to your picks. Stand your lane. Stick to your picks. Stop glossing guys with really derogatory names. See some of the big head reaction very quickly. Hey, Rome, James Kelly resetting Jeffrey Toobin was the best part of a really, really bad year. Thank you for your service, James. This service. Well, I keep defending the country. That's right. Greg in Kenmore. Dude, this guy making a Jeffrey Toobin joke is not a service to anybody or anything. "Can never be truly mastered. You'll see dude's ripped Ernie's one week and then heinously Mr Cut the next. It's how it goes. But Dustin Johnson seems to have somehow completely figured this thing out, and when he's on, there's nobody better. It's not just that he won another event yesterday and then peeled out of the L with 15 Mil. It's that since August 9th August 9th the guys now stuffed over 20 mil into his bank in 29 days. And that's just on course earnings really good work if you can get it, so Dustin Johnson is not just filthy. He's filthy, rich and not just filthy rich but filthy rich in the last 29 days. When you consider what it took to beat the guy in the two tournaments that he did not win this month, the accomplishment is even more impressive. Remember call in Morikawa? Needed to shoot 64 on Sunday at Harding Park. With that miracle Eagle to get by deejay in the PGA Championship. Jon Ron had a jug and impossible downhill 66 footer to win their playoff last week. The BMW So it's not like D. J is taking weeks off quite the opposite. Actually, he's making dudes do once in a lifetime things just to barely get by him. So in the last month as I mentioned, he's got four top twos, two wins, Ah FedEx Cup and 20 million bones. And he's 36. Not old by golf standards. Then again, you know, arguably, not exactly in his prime, right. The average age of the current top 10 stick in the world is nearly a decade younger than D. J. So maybe it's Saturno old man strength. Maybe it's the beard. Maybe it's experience. Maybe it's that aloof demeanor. That he always gets cracked for. It's my guy Trevor MOAs neutrality. I don't know. But I am talking about the same guy who fired a parent eighties. At the memorial in July and chased out with a 78 3 weeks later in Minnesota before quitting because of an injury. That's the most amazing thing of all. Not the run. He's on the run. He's on after how crappy he played prior to that, like it never even happened. But then again, it is the same dude who watched a major slip away after coming into Sunday with a 54 whole lead a month ago. Not the first time that's happened. Like these kind of rounds. Khun put almost any other golfer into a crazy spiral. Ah, hell bound mental spiral. Some dude's never come back from even half of that, much less all of that. Not deejay like this dude does even blank helped wreck him. Damn! You're made him He's now. I mean, he's the guy ever play better. He's the number one stick on the planet. The season champ, the favorite going into the U. S open in our all time heater, even for him. But he is going to the U. S open. And so all eyes are on that in that moment, because that's always gonna be the story with this guy and again. No, not the story you clones want with this guy? This story.

"Short week. Good week. Short week NFL on Thursday. Can't wait. So if it feels like I've been talking a lot about Dustin Johnson, it's because I've been talking a lot about Dustin Johnson. Four straight tournaments. Four straight top twos or better Two dubs and one epic bottom line. Now I've got 15 million more reasons to keep talking about D. J After he ripped the FedEx Cup yesterday, Eastlake And in the process of doing so, my God looked like he was walking to the mailbox to send a letter out. I mean, flatlining at this point does not begin to do this guy justice because you'd have thought that after he birdied 18. To win the cup that he just got himself a check for 15 bucks, not 15 million. It's as if those six zeros were his paws and not the amount of goose eggs on his comically massive bank slip. I mean, like, I rarely talk about money on this show as it relates to guys and what they make, but this is insane. I mean, it's one thing to dominate a golf tournament, which deejay did when he won the Northern Trust when he wanted by 11 shots after firing a record setting 30 under But it's entirely another to dominate, dominate Gulf the sport for an entire month. Golf is witchcraft. I've said that ever since I've hosted this programme, it is and always will be witchcraft. Ah, fickle game and a cruel mistress and something that.

"A little this golf yesterday. And I don't know if you saw this. Dustin Johnson finished minus 30. I did see that 30 under ridiculous was at the TPC up there and boss that knows the Northern trust and he was just dominant from start to finish. He shot 67 68 64. And 63. Now in September. The U. S open run by the U. S. D. A is going to be played at wing foot on the West Course There's no way that these scores the's are like, you know, a home run hitters. In these parks that are just you know the band. But the band marks that the band boxes that are baseball parks now, and the scores are just ridiculous. He one by 11 shots. Now he has the number one world ranking. As this has been just, you know, going back and forth between the players. So let me ask you a question, and hopefully I can explain this right in your golfer. So you understand this What say Dustin Johnson? What's the closest private club where you live, Jerry? Closest private club, Beacon Hill. All right, let's say, let's say Justin Johnson shows up a Beacon Hill today and he is going to play Beacon Hill. I don't know anything about have never played it, but he's going to play the club Pro Okay? Yeah. And Dustin Johnson is going to play every hole from the tips of the golf course. Let's say that it adds up to 7200 yards, Okay, And let's say it's a par 72, which is I don't know what it is. But let's just say that that's Pretty standard, I would say. All right, all right Now he's gonna play the club pro, but the club pro is on ly going to play a round with his putter. Meaning that he is going to start every hole is if he is on the green in regulation. He's gonna have 6 Ft. He's gonna have six pots. From 8 ft or less. He's gonna have six pots. From 8 to 15 ft, Right, And he's gonna have six pots of 20 ft or more, And those are gonna be first putts right on all 18 greens. Dustin Johnson playing from the tips all 18 holes. What does he shoot at? Backed off course, and can the club pro beat him? By just having tto putt on each of the holes. I think so. I don't know the answer to that. And I don't know the golf course enough to know. But just with those parameters now far he hits the ball. I think it would be close. I still think the club pro winds you cells. But Ideo OK? Ay dio. I said, I don't I think I don't know the reason. Actually this question one of my Friends who is a you know, loves golf, plays it a lot and watches all these tournaments gave me a couple of these scenarios. So now let me ask you one other scenario. All right. Golf. OK, Andrea, let's say Dustin Johnson and Rory McIlroy are playing in a scramble. Right? Okay. And then they card a number. Whatever that number is, and they're playing in an unfettered scare scramble. They both drive. They both hit the best drive shots that whatever Now, the next day, they come back and they play their individual balls. But they can't take a second shot any time they want to if they're not happy with the first shot that they hit Do they individually under those rules shoot better than they do If they play collectively together as a scramble, how we think the second way when they get the second shop, so I I believe that too Absolutely. Cause they're not going to miss it twice in a row. If they're too good, right? Exactly. In other words, they would get the feel and the touch of a pot mainly is where it comes down to be target practice for them. It would be so I do think I can't wait for the U. S open at wing foot this hole PGA. While it's been great, watching it on the scores have been really, really low. No, I want to see these guys struggle a little bit. I think, then play golf like I play golf. I think this might be kind of what you were talking about with the basketball where the guys are getting very comfortable in the gym, the arena whatever it is in Orlando, and this is the golfers with no pressure. No one watching them. It's just basically go out and shooting at the pens. And I also believe that a lot of these golfers are playing a lot better without the fans, right exactly. That's my point. And did you see the four year old with the hole in one? Yes, I did. Pretty cool. Actually, I heard out bitching complaining about it. No, he said he could beat the four year old. Yeah, you probably could. I don't know about that. When we take all here, let's go to Chris and how New Jersey Chris, what's happening, Brother? Hey, Good morning, guys. Just want to say, Boomer, You know you're rich. You can give away a jets and you don't even know if you own a trailer for that. Remember, I do have a trail or somewhere. I think it's out there. The guy that's running the Maria is kind of running the whole thing. So he's a little hard to get ahold of it. So I'm gonna make the first call. I'm gonna make you get off the show this morning as I want to call out there to make sure that we have the trailer and we have the CDO and Jerry can go out there and get it. That is tremendous, Chris. Thank you very much down there. How was pretty nice that I was giving it to? You know, Listen, I told you thank you very much. I hate to fly because big note. Oh my God. Everybody hates suppliers except the Flyers for the capital's coming up next year. But my main question is Jack. You need a pitcher, Kleven just cheap right now. But the problem was laboratories getting hurt. I would give them a lab and all Minor league pitching. No, Montgomery and you give me Clemens. "Is Is Phil playing really well. For Age right sure. He's he's you know incredibly good. He vies for a lot of events he's been. He's been on the leaderboard tons and tons and tons. You know in his forties so The answer to that is I think I think he's GonNa Win Right. Away. I do too. Yeah and to watch walk in each state looks like a forty year old man. You've got some guys who look a little bit on the rickety side playing on the champions tour and still competing but a not competing particularly. Well, it's it's a young man's game and fifty is the rookie fifty. So interesting to see how it does totally that should stay in shape that long playing golf. Baggio. How you got to keep your back and sheet. Everybody gives them a hard time because he's you know the upper body bag of milk. Back. You certainly compare them to the young studs of the PGA today the Brooks cap because of the world like everybody is a rolling up in immaculate shape look like tight ends more than golfers these days. So feel always it was always a little lumpy and then this new wave came in these last five to ten years and it made him look especially lumpy now rolls up on the champions tour. He looks like dawn going into this thing. Well he lost he did lose some weight, but you don't tear to your point about is he going to do well coming in? If you think if you think of the guys were the Gulf that's going on right now in wherever everyone's playing incredibly good golf and I think it has something to do with covert I think it has a lot to do with no crowds because. And it makes sense right? Golf is ninety five percent mental. They've always talked about that. And there's The more people, the more pressure you know. These guys are whistling around their. No one's bothering them. There's a great snapshot. And a guy wrote a little piece on it last night of Tiger and rory of played together last year round. They're just made the cut and they ended up playing in the final you the first groups out. The two of them and they showed this photograph of them. They've finished around went into the scores tent and then they both grabbed a hamburger, a beer or pop, and sat down at a picnic table with nobody around. Nobody around. Okay and the guy tried to explain to you what normally that scene would look like. And He said here's you know there wouldn't. There's there's like six people who are around there couple of photographers. But normally, you wouldn't even see them sitting there. Because it's such a shit show that whenever they're done they to get away from the crowds that have been around them all day five, thousand people go. To the clubs you don't come out you don't come out until you have to. You know to do a little presser. So, this covert thing is you know it's it's made it easier for everyone. Some guy say while it's easier on the on the lesser knowns because they don't have that other pressure and I'm looking at what's happening today. With. With Dustin, Johnson, who's no lesser known? It's it's it's crazy. What's going on absolutely insane. Yeah, and then one of the things one last thing I am Dustin Johnson he he made a pot I just thought on the highlights I don't know what round it was when it happened somebody put it on social media. It was highlight of him making an absolute bomb for an eagle and it just took forever. It was like a long left or right breaking pot and it just slowed down at the end and it didn't look like it was going to you know make it and it might have been last night by the whole of his third-round yeah. It just had enough energy and it was turning hard right at the end is it lost speed and android right in the cup and you expect something like a little fist bump. I fist bump when I watched it in a replay on social media. This guy walked after it like somebody was asking him to cut the lawn or something. All right here I come it was just I he's he's definitely and you've talked about it before a different breed as far as the personality goes and that's probably a good thing in the big picture never too high or too low regardless of what sport you're in right. To- totally the right the right mindset for it. Totally there are. That's tagger they say was so good right that that. If he had the killer instinct, a combination of the killer instinct and the and and the. Unbelievable laidback. Calming. is his heartbeat and stuff like that. The celebrate with the best of them though he could celebrate for sure but he could leave a shot once he hid it, he hid it and onto the next shot they say it was this Combo Mother was a Buddhist his dad was a green beret and the ad that perfect combination of. Sort of mental strength and. What I was gonNA say the okay. Can you imagine steve so all these guys like Dustin Johnson, he's he's a little older then the Jordan. And just thompsons are okay of the World Justin Thomas. So if you think of those guys now, Ok Rory. Okay. Justin. Thomas look look look at the top ten or fifteen guys right and they're and they're young. Okay. Can you imagine in twenty five years now that when the? You're you're a lesser known at their age. Okay. A Guy just trying to make it on the top one, one, twenty, five every year and you're gonna how when I turned fifty it'll be okay that's right. You will be okay and your first round in your first senior Venezuela Jordan speeds. And Rory mcilroy. And Justin Thomas. These guys go away. No no no. So that's coming along all the way you know so. Anyway good stuff. Well, we'll take a timeout on the show good stuff a lot of golf going on right now, and of course, lots of hockey as well. We're on to the second round kind of the third round I guess final eight, hundred, oil I call this but it's basically around to the NHL playoffs as far as they're concerned and a couple of interesting stories I want to get into I think Berry trots. He has got going maybe the greatest NHL coaching revenge story that I've ever heard of, we'll get to that and Marc Andre Fleury declined to answer if he knew his agent was going to post a backstabbing photo on twitter. But the end the day I can't Can't sit and sulk about it the rest of that because it's over with, And I just need Teo Get ready to to just go shoot as long as I can. Tomorrow. J T thanks your time, And I know it's been a long one. Get that good start tomorrow and then finish it off. That's right. Thank you. Justin Thomas, the third round 68 1 under for the tournament. He is 10 shots behind the leader, Dustin Johnson. All right, dentists as we look forward to Sunday, first major of the year. I mean a wild Saturday. What do you looking forward to the most for Sunday at Harding Park? I honestly think this golf course was set up a little harder today than I expected it to be. If they give these guys an opportunity all depends upon the PJ. Now you know what kind of score they're looking for. They want to see guys shoot score tomorrow and maybe 45 guys, get five or 600 part and get that way Or do they want to make it a little closer to us open and make two or 300 par? Be a great score tomorrow. The conditions are going to be similar there. There's no change in really the temperature. We might get a little more sunshine tomorrow that we had today, but it's still going to be cool and it's still going to blow. And the greens are gonna be firm and Dennis with Dustin Johnson holding this one shot lead. Does he get it done? Who were you looking for? That could make the biggest run a deejay tomorrow. So much talent at the top of the board, and this is nothing against TJ, but it's gonna be hard to win from pop. I think you know, trying to get his second major, the guys behind him right behind them, though. You look at it with Scottie Scheffler, Cameron Champion column or a cow. The young guys trying to get it figured out. You know, that's gonna be tough. Paul Casey, the next one has a woman, either. Brooks. Capta is breathing down his throat. He's going to be awful tough. I think if Brooks kind of put some pressure on, it would be interesting. It all depends upon two things. How Dustin Johnson hits his T ball, Does he set up? Does he start the whole well, and if he makes putts that's going to be the big factor, because if he could shoot, let's say three or four under par and get to say, 12 under par. It really makes everybody behind him have to shoot a good one. And it's going to be awful tough. If you can shoot 12 under par, you probably eliminated 26 under pars. If he only shoots one under, then look out is all those 600 parts and there's a lot of talented six under par. It could be a chase on DH. There's going to be that opportunity for those guys to do something. Um, honestly, I'm not sure I'd love to see D J get a 2nd 1 with all the stuff that's happened in some of the majors for him would be nice for him to get number two because of the things that have happened. Not only with the year that he won the U. S open but losing the U. S open in Pebble Beach when he struggled, and then I will never forget the, uh, the bunker debacle that happened at Whistling Straits. Dennis Paulson. Thank you so much. You're going to be on the course and Harding Park for the final round tomorrow. Look forward to hearing from you enjoy it. Thanks, man. Appreciate it. It's never too early to talk football.

You know the Secret Steve, to the charm is just ask them about themselves and their families, and all that so I thought I'd go to that one last night or whenever I went is literally. Everybody's favorite topic. Bells and so awesome about their. Can't you know? and. So you got kids. And she goes yes. So. I'm getting the short answer here Oh, Jeez. That's all. She said Yes to something like that. Well, because and this is what made her pretty funny, she went. You're asking me the same questions you've asked me. I. That's a bad sign like yeah, your folks yeah. Member I told you. They live up in Quebec. You know is a town north of here. Yeah, see, that's the problem. When you go into interview mode to kind of keep the conversation role, you need to retain with the answers actually, were i. you know what Stevie. I went right to the okay. What does it matter? Don't worry about it. Hit Her with the I'm not very good at listening. Right. It was it was like a piano off my back. I don't have very good re I. didn't I didn't mean it rudely like you're not interesting I i. You know I said Look at my retention level of stuff, not strong I'm not. It's not my strong suit. Steve of trying to absorb me and I'm really trying hard steve. Trying to bear down I'm trying I'm trying to listen. And if you put together a top ten for the average female of what they look for in a love interest. Good good listener will almost always make that top ten. It's a bad play by you. You drop the ball. What you mean, say that again. What what? I'm not making the top ten. Here. Are you being a bad listener again with me? I don't have ten of the colonies you need I. Don't have one of the ten qualities. You're that's right. You're. admitted the year bad listener. That's a big one with a lot of women. Okay yeah, right such a good listener and my God. I can dance though Steve True. You probably didn't have that. In the top ten I can dance. The problem is. So is getting up from the dining room table in a restaurant. started the dance going. Hey, look at this is one of the my buddy TV told me. This is one of the top ten right here. Yeah well. When there's music and stuff. Maybe we'll dance, you know. Sit Down, Jim. Sit Down so progressing now you think the third like he like. What's the optimism beyond that? Are there any dealbreakers that are happening right now? No No. It's. It's kind of this welcome. It. kind of like it just so I just saw have context here. Is She aware of this podcast? She is now yep. I understand I'll tell you can tell. I'm being a little light. You know she's you. Be Go well. Jerome usually just goes off on this shit and truly sorry, Wonderful Girl. It's. Yeah! Anyway all right coming up on the show today. We're GONNA. Get into three topics that job immediately to mind. We've got some thoughts on. Jimmy's bff in law. Dustin Johnson winning on the weekend, Wayne Gretzky son-in-law big winner from the weekend Cam Newton signs on with the Patriots and some very interesting commentary coming out of this new hockey diversity alliance, so that and much more coming up. So, what do you think Dustin Johnson? Was a pretty impressive performance all in all. It was weird to see him in the final three or four holes with his pants hiked up to his knees. Just walk into the water making. Attempts at chip shots looked like he was leaking oil near the end, but he hung on all and and having done so terrific for him, and the Great Stat I saw Jimmy. Johnson wins on the weekend like he's known for his length off the tee I think everybody would say well slam ball, but how about the consistency? He is. He's got this stat now. He's one at least one event in twelve straight years to start his career. Only Jack Nicklaus Arnold Palmer and Tiger Woods had longer streaks. How about being company like that? Yeah, I think it's thirteen thirteen now but. Well there's that. The other one is. which is widely impressive to win that many years in a row and they asked him about that. You know to be in that come. Such a low reactive. You seen is interviews. Does this guy have a heartbeat you know and and Gretzky's told me. He's like Jimmy. He's the same on the what you see, is it? He plays a bunch of golf. You know with with Wayne and his buddies in apparently he's a super guy to play golf with and help you right away, and and just a wonderful guy with there, but a but Loman right you can you could. You know you're not getting a bunch here on his Bil- rhythm. But the other stat is. He's just over and he's only news thirties. Is He's one sixty, three, million or something like that WHO. Wins..

Texas Kelly breath. Did indeed getting the fairway? Good. Call. So far toward three. Nobody was looking there. That's why Charlie was thinking about that. He's going to places that they're not going to be looking Kelly craft John has to pick more sensible target. Right down, the treeline doesn't Spall camping more than fifty paces from the front of the green. And I guess that's going to be the fun of it today. You start seven or eight shots back, yet you might as well put it on go. That was rough. Shot probably twice as long as Johnson has. He's one of the other great parts about this gallery. When of all gets outside the gallery ropes about twenty of them, we're going to point at it. So we know exactly where it is more to come.

I would second when Dustin Johnson Brooks kept in Tiger Woods. Yeah. That was the running order there one once. You're the draft for me because I wasn't hearing. I got Justin Rose in Zander, shop where my first two picks, that's fine with that. Did my pin poboy market? It's just a fish out of water. He's got five PGA tour wins. Three of them are majors. I mean how did he careful being on the lead after day? Why? Always a tad bit. Scare you sleep on the lead. I'd rather have a guy that's little bit hungry once while I always I like to operate from a stalker position. But it doesn't seem to faze. Oppressor are Stocker, minus one terrible. Whatever he hit eight iron nine iron into the twelfth on Sunday at Augusta like nothing seems to face him. He's a lip out on eighteen right from being in a playoff with tiger. He goes back to twelve and he knew he knows he made the mistake. Tournament on six made the mistake that day, that's right now, he's just like a machine as me JD was his miscue that toll tiger. He needed to go to the eight iron because the nine any definitely need go. Split the bunkers and this guy Francesco Molinari made the same mistake who looks like any guy, you're that you would see in your Monday night, golf Lee, that just pulls up with his walking carton Francisco, millenary guy, pokes it out. I mean, he's can't be more than one nine swing can. Five nine he looks like the guy peddling Chacha. He's at the Spanish steps in Rome. I mean, that's what he loves..

But that thing I think might be kind of cool can you at least wait to release a couple more podcast. So that if something horrible happens, we have a nice little archive. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. You know? Yeah. You know, like when an artist is writing music, and they die an expectedly. And then there's that album that comes out after they die, and they clean up. We could be like to pocket put out like twenty seven more podcasts. Yeah. That's true. You know, may we got after the week that we or the week after the couple of days that we put in at the diamond resorting champions. We got a nice little a little stockpile. But yeah, there you go jump off a cliff. We're good. Yeah. You're good. I'm just saying. No, no. We're good. Cliff told me, you know, what do it go? Right. It'd be something fun and different. Oh, it would be different. All right. It those guys always look like they're so I remember caddying. And I remember thinking these are getting a little nosy like they just wanna see what's in the yardage book. They're on like number four, which goes right along the cliff. You really think to yourself like, hey, are you guys trying to come here to shot here? Something like what's sub what's going on?
