"I have two for you here. This one is prompted by grant who spotted something interesting grant rights. I was at the red sox guardians game on saturday. And we're shocked to see ryan lavarnway in the cleveland lineup. I then looked him up to see when the last time he played in the big leagues was came to find out. He's played in every year but one since two thousand eleven but that he's played in so few games in each season that saturday was just his hundred sixty second for beer. Game spread over ten major league seasons. The run since two thousand seventeen is especially incredible to me. He has played in six games. Six games five games. Five games and six games in each of those years. Has anybody ever taken more seasons to reach a full year's worth of games. Ps i've got to thank. It's very difficult to both stick around this long without in any one year. Establishing yourself enough to surpass one hundred sixty two much quicker than this catchers like lebron way make some sense if you're consistently the third or fourth catcher in an organization and maybe a september pinch run specialist similar terrence score although with speed declining quicker than other skills the one jeopardy needed may take them out of it so i posed this question to frequent step less consultant ryan nelson and he was able to quickly get an answer using retro sheet. He said the data as usual which i will link to and he writes when looking at the longest time slash most seasons to one hundred sixty two games. It's dominated by pitchers unsurprisingly. There have been dozens of pitchers to take eight or more seasons to get to one hundred sixty two games that is twenty games per season after all fairly reasonable amount for a starter when we specifically look at hitters and i think that is the thing to do for this kind of question there has actually never been a player who has gotten to a hundred sixty two games but taken ten plus seasons to do it. Lavarnway is the first so there you go. You say that you see something new and a ballpark when you go. Every day and grant saw something new on saturday at that game ryan lavarnway the first player ever to take ten or more seasons to get to his hundred sixty second career. Major league game played the closest to do it. Previously were chico walker. Who had a pretty interesting career. He was third baseman and outfielder kind of a utility guy really with the red sox and cubs and some other teams. And i believe he was the player who was Replacing carl stransky not mike. When that has was removed from the field for the final time and the other two guys who have taken nine or more seasons to get their wral chevette the catcher and corky miller the catcher fourteen other players have taken eight seasons to get there. So yeah. it's your utility guys indefinitely your backup catcher your third or fourth. String catchers and ryan continues. Grant was right on track with the tarrant scores suggestion as well he is one of only four active hitters defined as having played in twenty twenty twenty twenty one to have seven seasons in the majors with fewer than one hundred sixty two games played. No one has eight or nine but the ones with seven are terret score. Rob brantley dustin garneau and mason williams. Lavarnway took thirty six hundred seventy days to get two hundred sixty. Two games played that places him as the twentieth longest to get to one sixty two the record being forty six hundred twenty six days. That's twelve years. Two hundred forty six days held by stuffy stewart and stuffy stewart he played quite a while ago as one would expect from the name but he played with the cardinals and the pirates and a bunch other teams the senators in the teens and the twenties so been awhile for him but sometimes just looking at his baseball reference bullpen page. She would like voluntarily. Go to the miners in those days. That was a century ago or more and sometimes a minor league depending on the league could certainly get playing time but also maybe make a better living or within were convenient place being a big leaguer was certainly less remunerative in those days in less prestigious so that partially explains why it took so long for stuffy but the last note that ryan has for us lavarnway has averaged just sixteen point two games per season which is actually the least ever for someone who has played one hundred sixty two plus games as one would expect and he gives us the top ten. They're also which will be on the spreadsheet link from the show page but corky. Miller is second in that category with nineteen point six games per season from two thousand one. Two thousand nine so good for lavarnway. He stuck it out longer than anyone ever has. Who has eventually played a full. Season's worth of games in the majors. So yeah it's tough to do not only for the reason that grant mentioned that you have to be good enough to stick around but maybe not quite good enough or not in the right place at the right time to really breakthrough and establish yourself but also you have to not get discouraged and demoralized and you have to keep on going in believing that you're going to get up there. I mean i guess if you're there every year even if it's for five or six games that's something to look forward to so it's not like you know he's one of these players is bounced around the minors for decades without ever making the majors. He's making it uses kinda wedding his beacon getting a little taste and then go back down again but he has stuck it out so i guess he probably really likes playing baseball but he just turned thirty four a month ago and he is still going strong. Good names on today's episode. She oughta get names. Yeah i think you would have the sense that like. I can do what i've done it. I think we underestimate the degree to which having some small amount of experience doing a thing at a high level inspires in us the confidence that we can keep doing it because there is this bright line between guys who just never made it to the majors at all in those who do right once you're there it is some respects a a special rare thing and so it's it's not surprising to me that he would say like one of these years. It's bound to stick so good for him. What is he made history. Yeah i asked to be the first big leaguer how briefly and sporadically. Yes that is true. Well spotted by grant gas very well accomplished by ryan lavarnway well researched by ryan and the last one here also prompted by a listener question and this is a fun one. I think so. This comes to us from paul patriots supporter. Who says in trying to figure out how the raise do it. I was stunned by a simple fact. They have gotten the most contributions perfect graphs were from. Your pal makes at three point. seven wins above replacement. Baseball reference is even less charitable with randy arena leading the team with three point three war. This got me thinking who is the worst best player on a division winner or put another way which division winner had the lowest were total from their team leader. And this was a a few days ago. I guess but it's largely unchanged entering tuesday's games the baseball reference world leader for the raise. It still randy arena. He is up to three point. Four now which is just not a high total..

"And one of the things that they loved about you obviously was the way that your knowledge of this staff describe for Tiger fans What you watch you saw the kids in spring and we think of Mai's Manning Scougall. And how they have led this team since you went away, and now you come back what you saw in terms of the improvement and there there arc if you will, over the course of six months, it's cliche, but the maturity Obviously, when you put the more you play in the big leagues that come from more comfortable you get and then that's what it seems like to me that they have a comfort on the mound now. You know they can get big league hitters daily lineups out and to watch where they were earlier this year, trying to learn the new system that that was bringing in and now what they've learned that they're taking it and running with it. It's it's been awesome. Watch catcher has a big role in that. Obviously, what do you feel like your biggest role is especially with young pictures as they learn to throw strike one to equality Strike one. Live with early count contact gets to two strikes and finish shooters off in terms of your role of how to guide them through that process. Yeah, that's all it is just It's a report that we have, like, I'm not going to say Do this. Do this do this, and then they're going to do. It's kind of this is what I feel. How do you feel, and we're talking between Indians and we go out there. We at least have one or two pitches of a bat or batter at least that we know If I don't like this, then he can go to that. If he doesn't like this, I know where he wants to go and stay on the same page as much as we can. I think the thing that I really enjoyed watching Chris Federal with all the pictures learning how to fill, I think of Michael former saying I didn't throw my sinker up before because let her sit through my sinker up in the strikes on two seamer up in the strike zone. Uh, Whether it's Tyler Alexander's throwing his cutter up in the strike zone, just the way that they use their pitches in different ways than they were used to in the past, so that that's obviously I'm always interested when they don't have that pitch that day. How you maybe get to that pitch as a catcher to make sure that they throw it enough to get guys out. Yeah, I think that's theirs. Kind of two ways of attacking guys are maybe a little more but my mind where you can go in and out on guys, you go in hard, soft hard, but one of those two aren't really working. Then you've got to go front to back where it's slower than it. Is it side to side. So if one up down and all that stuff is not working there, two pitches are closer and speeds I could try to go back and forward with, say, a softer pitch to where it gets the hit her off balance a little more than we go back to the pitch that he hasn't had that day that gives them Little bit of a tick because the guy's not expecting that kind of deal. Dustin. Thank you so much. I appreciate it. Dustin Garneau, stay with us. We've got.

"To play ESPN radio. Lost in all the Monday madness evolving well, were we not get counsel Ball 2020 Major league baseball still humming along a little bit plenty of surprises and a bench clearing brawl that happened Sunday between the Astros and the Oakland Athletics. Let's bring on man Jeff Passing is a great job at ESPN Major League Baseball insider, he said. Thanks to sell pens or performance line, I'm going to start the Astros in the Athletics. It seems that somebody said somehow somebody's mother That person United, but either way they got together. What is the latest evolving these two teams that are clearly not friends anymore? Between Oakland in Houston? Yeah, they never were friends. Because if you if you recall a couple of years ago, Freddy back think it was 2000 Underneath. It was either 17 or 18. I think it was 17 actually, because it was a trashcan year during the playoffs that year. Ah, the Astros, Ah had been accused of taping the dugouts. In both Cleveland and Boston and the Oakland A's earlier that year, had complained that they had heard some sort of trashcan banging noise coming from the dugout, very prescient that we now know what the trash can banging was. But there's no love lost between these two teams and major league baseball met on met tonight actually talk about discipline for Ramon Laureano charged the Houston Astros bench and Alex and thrown the hitting coach who goaded him on with his words and they're going to be suspension coming down, probably tomorrow and I imagine especially in the case of control and they're going to be pretty hefty. And Jeff, is this not the age old, you know, adage where you just don't say south about somebody's mama. I'm in it like isn't bad. Just a truism. Life anywhere, doesn't it? Doesn't matter. The culture doesn't matter the country out of the color of your skin. Don't talk about Mom. Just don't You ever like it? It never ends. Well, when one has someone talking about somebody else's mom ended up Well, even in the movie, the little Giants, right this skinny little dude turtles. Don't you talk about my mama about my mama. Extra. Khomeini had a big time hit so Bobby Bobby. Bobby Boucher is last number one. Don't talk about my mama. Thank you. So for people who have absolutely no clue what we're talking about describe, But Alexandro said to Laureano that led to him charging The Astros dug out because somebody said something about somebody. Oh, I thought you were going to say described the water blast that we'll be here all night and so remote Remote Laureano, who's Ah, very talented outfielder for the A's, he actually came up in the Astros organization. And he Ah, he got hit three times in the Siri's over the weekend and the third time hey, was pointing it. Ah Berto Cristianos, the rookie pitcher who hit him and essentially telling him you have to snap the slider. You can't just like feather slider out there. It's going to hit me. You gotta snap it. And as he's going to first base, saying that control starts talking to him, and Laureano says something back and, according to Laureano Cintron there, there's something in Spanish that included a reference to a moderate and look any anytime we're talking about reference someone's mother is not gonna end up well and remote Laureano, you know. He said. He said I regret I regret charging because he's a loser. That was funny about the way the funny part is The two people there who had stepped in front of Alex Cintron, where Dustin Garneau, the catcher on Omar Lopez, who's a coach in the AH the Ashes organization, and Dustin Garneau had played with Ramon Laureano and Omar Lopez may have been his greatest benefactor when he was in the minor leagues, just pushing anything this kid's going to be really good. Dustin Garneau tackled him laid on top of them and as he's on top of them, he said, Are you okay? And Mariana was saying to him? Thank you. Thank you. So it was very polite at the bottom of the pile while all the mess going on surrounding baseball Mother's water by that name is ESPN Major League Baseball inside of Jeff Passan, joining us already of its Evans on ESPN Radio on Sirius X 80 stay with the Oakland Athletics. What has been a big surprise there being 12 and for the Marlins being seven and three of the Rockies being 11 and four I think it's probably the Rockies at this point, and the Marlins ar Ah, great story to just the fact that they've actually won games and granted, a number of them were against Baltimore and And the Orioles aren't exactly Ah, you know contenders, But the fact that the Marlins air is good as they are have been as good as they've been has been a surprise, but the Rockies I just did not see that coming. They had such a Bad year last year didn't add anything this offseason. You remember there were a lot of questions about whether Nolan are on auto is going to get traded and then coming out being atop the National League West really tough division that has the Dodgers Oh, I think the best team in baseball. The Padres, who have been really, really good are going to be really good for a while. And even the Diamondbacks who don't have a great record so far, but who I still think our accounting team, the Iraqis being up there. Great the czar. Huge surprise, because, remember, this is a team. That has made the playoffs couple years in a row now and has just a top to bottom, talented roster Matt Chapman and medals and that the coroner's Marcus Simeon on Laureano, their bullpen has been fantastic. Ah, you know, Frankie Montas might be the most underappreciated starter in baseball on his shoes. Luzardo there, rookie left hander is gonna be dynamite, So the eggs are going to be good for a while. MLB insider and I just a find human beings. Damn fine American Jeff passing here with us on ESPN.

"Then, after his capture, Dustin Garneau left the bench to tackle Laureano before the A's outfielder reached in Trump. I was just trying to stop the situation before punches. We're really throwing. It got out of hand. Cigar? No, that's really was my whole goal before that incident. It. As I mentioned. Ballplayers going, do what they do right? And so even during this covert 19 when Major League Baseball's like a make sure that you're socially distant as much as possible, make sure that you're safe now Ballplayers are going to do what they do and what they do. Sometimes they try to fight. It wasn't again. These are all skirmishes. What we've seen so far. During the start of the season. But can this is this has nothing to do with social distancing protocols or observing covert 19 itjust players is streaming out of the tunnel area streaming out of the dugout in out of the clubhouse to be able to start fighting or try to start a fight. It's just something man. It's just like this has gotta be the biggest nightmare for Manfred. But also it's up to the players to understand this, too. Now when I talk about players just doing what they normally do. They can't be robotic. They also have to be able to have a presence of mind to know. Hey, I'm gonna make sure that I stay healthy. But clearly, Laureano didn't care about that. The worst part about that Laureano brawl is the adults in the room. The managers in the bench coaches are supposed to be the ones that are leading the example. The bench coach, according to Laureano, made a vile comment about his mother. About Liriano's mother is that's what started the fight, so we have The quote unquote adults in the room, picking a fight with a player on first base during this whole situation, knowing what would happen next, pointing at him to come here, like bring it. This would have never happened. Which fans in the stands because he couldn't hurt exactly right. That comet would not have been heard. You're right, his mother, okay? And and what's the point of that, too? By the way, What's the point of it? Just just to instigate so sin Tron, The headings coach today was quoted I regard I regret charging him because he's a loser. Suspension is understandable, but I hope it's not that many games so like sweet apology. He's a loser. Baseball. It is. It is the surly right as a baseball player. But why, though it so we go back to the question of why we go back to two year olds? Eric and they say, Why? And just keep asking Why? Because why You realize that if you say something to this guy who's charged up after being hit so many times, why would you even know why I would even go into that? You know that's going to cause an issue. I just don't get it. I don't understand it Once again. I just go back to my default of that. Like these ballplayers, just like humans. Some are just going to do whatever they want to do, and I just I'll just never understand it. Amidst this coded 19 you want to cause a stir? Why is bad on both sides actually If someone calls out my mother, I'm not necessarily charging the dugout. No, I'm laughing at that fool like Wow, that worked in middle school man cools it fairly. It works is an adult with Laz, right? The men in the room. In Major League baseball. Ah, couple scores for you. Tampa in Boston just getting underway in the bottom of the first no score at Fenway Park. The Washington Nationals lead the Mets three Nothing the games in the top of the third. What's the one note here? Stroman for the Mets has opted out. That's a story today has opted out of the Mets 13 toe one in the top of the six for the Phillies leading Atlanta 13 to 1. "Retail things there's a direct correlation between dogs and lightning. Welcome back to the show not often I drop a James Donald reference. The way not only was he in bridge over the River Kwai needed the madness madness. was also in the great escape. Almost seem like if there was a movie about the British Army, you can have James Aren't James Donald. In their coming up in the next segment, we will go back to blighty with the Stewart Royal Clark author of the game. That's right about Salka. Use Excludes Silica you told us to we. Did. Show Otani when he made his debut this season at the Coliseum, he didn't get it out and his era was infinity. Want to get an out. Like the giants called up Andrew Triggs who spent six years at USC before the as brought him and he was okay for a little bit. With the Orioles anyway the. Answer a little desperate that brought him up. and. walks the bases loaded. They all score his era. It's eighty one because he did get out. And you can't. He's one appearance third of an inning. Eighty one is his era. who started his areas like a nine three it's early. But SHOHEI Otani was infinity. In Synergy I tell you. So last Sunday vases the as the coliseum six guys no outs. So, he waited on that infinity era for a full week. Then yesterday against the Astros. one-two-three. First inning. There you go. Second inning. Five walks. Through one eighty five of his fifty pitches for strikes I'm GONNA go ahead and say that's fifty percent. He has faced sixteen batters and walked eight. He did throw harder. His fastball is at ninety three on average. But if you think about his first MLB season two years ago before he had the Tommy John He averaged ninety seven. Four miles per hour off now when you're coming back from a John Surgery you're not gonna hit the ground running all the time, but he's pretty pathetic right now. Now. It's funny. The people were like Dustin Garneau in as Castoff rockies cast off and it was a three two pitch that he walked in a run. He would have been out of the inning that was a strike and then people turning out. That was a terrible mistake. So everyone on mass. Terrible mistake I looked at it it was high inside and the guy tried to did a horrible job framing is like bloom and pulled it back. You think that's a terrible mistake. You can see that call a strike maybe. I'm the hitter and they call it a strike I'm mad. But. If you're Dustin Garneau and you stink, they're like at the bad off your shoulders. Now in the summer, camp. They let him before we got this all going and. He walked eight batters in a game. So. As I said, now, eight batters and two regular season starts he just can't get the ball over the plate. And now he's going to see a doctor. Yikes. Here's the good news. Even if Otani never throws another pitch. He's already got two home runs this season, which is nice. But he's also batting one, forty, eight it's early. You know who else is under two hundred. Argus semi-in Matt Chapman. Olsen, expect those guys to be a little bit. I'm not worried about batting averages. Less than two weeks into the season. A career hitter you hundred and sixteen games he's a two eighty one hitter. So the whole thing about him was, he was gonna be the first to a player who gonNa sign him obviously the National League Right Nope He wanted to go to Disneyland. So he's GonNa look whenever you go to the doctor. And your a pitcher. And it's a guy named Andrews or L. A. Trotsky then in. Good so. I'll be okay I, hate the angels but I got nothing against this guy. I. Hope he turns out. All right because he's good for the League. Now, speaking of former as we had a really ridiculous situation yesterday. With Johanna cesspit us. CESSPIT ASS- did not show up. The mets game. and which they lost to the braves four to nothing. And, they asked him where are you and there was no answer. And so the report came out. Mets don't know where you on assessment and then people think I hope he's all right. Good. Gracious. That doesn't happen. And as it turned out, they went to his hotel room. He was he was cleaned out. He bailed he opted out. Aid and tell anybody. Now you might say, well, he's from Cuba that's if what they do in Cuba than I have no problem with it. That's a cultural thing number in some countries you spit in your hand before you shake and you have to be forty five minutes late or it's rude. You don't know when you use your left hand for other things. You don't know what's rude or not. That I don't think that's the case in Cuba. I think in Cuba you call your employer when you're not GonNa go to work I don't know. He had he'll surgeries he had ankle surgeries all paid for by the mets they were easing him back into the. Early action he had started five games in a row. He was going to get a day off. Road Van Wagon and said as of game time you on assessment says not reported to the ballpark today you did not reach out to management with any explanation for his absence are attempts to contact him have been unsuccessful. So now they find out that he opted out for Kobe reasons now did they shred him? You CAN'T Then wagon said quote. We will support him in that decision. It was surprising without question..

"Yeah definitely take advantage of the facetime quite a bit there when you're on the road man. I'm a little just GONNA say it's time for is called you. It's it's talk to see them so I use it as much as I can. Yeah that's amazing. What are what are your plans for like the off season now. I know you guys get some time off. I don't know how much I'm sure you're still scharping into skill skillset and you off season. But what kind of plans are you looking forward to the season's over this year just hanging out with the family. I gotTa we my wife and I tried to go on a trip buyer sells. I also take a couple of days where we can really the kids with her parents so we can just get some mommy daddy time because she was the biggest thing is trying to get hurt to decompress a little bit 'cause she. She's all the kids every day pretty much then. I got actually a I'm going on my first hunt this offseason so I'll be pretty fun. I'm looking forward to and then basically we just train and get ready for next year. Yeah very cool yeah. I'm looking forward to doing some of that stuff myself. I'm like a city guy here. I've never done hunting or camping none of that so I'm out out of my shell how about as far as discipline Dustin What type of disciplinary are you as a father you spanker timeout guy. How does that go down Dan. Yes a little bit of both. I try not to do it as much. I don't WanNa get you so like hitting and being okay with hitting but we do the time out and then I try to get on. I love with them. Talk to them why they did something wrong. 'cause they're almost at the age where they're talking a little bit so they can understand and talk back to me like. I say you can't do that can't do this. Just tell me like they say yes or no for the know why or not but if it gets too bad where they're actually hurting brother or something then yeah I will. I will spank them to a point yeah. What about as far as I know you had your twin saint. I you said right. Yes yeah what what always I experience like for you and like maybe what kind of advice would you give to other dads out there that are just about a half twins or or just had twins because I mean my my first two were fifteen months apart. Irish Irish twins but yeah nothing like having a two in one shot. So how was that experience just tell them that. You're not ready for anything but it's a blast man. That's a it's absolutely life changing and the twins actually weren't too bad it was it was hard at first because they're on different schedules when they're feeding so there are a different times times all night so I would say the biggest advice that my wife and I did was get them on a feeding schedule as fast as you possibly can eating and sleeping schedule because once once you do that. It's it's circa really easy yeah very cool and what does this. Have you been that you've just got over to Oakland now. What are the the Do you feel about that for the rest of the season has a team look yeah. I was here and two thousand seventeen with this team and now I'm glad to be back because the team is awesome bunch of great guys because because just after the unbelievable and yeah we're in. We're in the wild card hunt right now. I think we're a game or to help beyond the raise so this next two months it's GonNa be. It's GonNa be a boss. Also it. Is Your wife and your family like are they big baseball fans. Do they all come out. Check out the games and all that or some of them could could care less about. I think my wife's baseball fan. Obviously she's been with me since since day one then her parents are baseball fans now because I'm playing so they kinda. They understand Santa now more since since I've been in the picture yeah. That's awesome all right. Well I mean you. You may touch. You've probably touchdown at their. I ask you about the twins but usually the last question I always ask the dads and again. The podcast is what type of advice. Do you happen in new father or for that about to be dad. WHO's out there listening. Oh Man your your life is about to change for the better. There's a lot of sleepless nights and it does get easier budgets no that that kid doesn't know what he's doing and he's just crying to something's wrong so the more patients you can half and half for yourself and for your wife better is going to be an easy. It's going to be forty because because it's really is a blessing can't very well set a love the advice great message There's been a lot of fun for me. I gotTa say don't think Arno thank you so much. You give me a few minutes at time. I'm I last. That's probably thank you for having me on been fun back to wrap things up here on fatherhood. I gotTA give a special. "All right and joining me. Now is a first-class father. He is a major league catcher who was drafted by the Colorado rockies in the two thousand nine. Major League baseball draft he was behind the plate catching combined no hitter back in July. It is so cool for me to say Dustin Garneau welcome to First-class Fatherhood. Thank you for having me on all right. Let's start here. How many it'd be having how old are they? I guess three twins that are almost three and a little guy who'll be almost. It was almost two November. Wow Okay did you. Did you guys do who like agenda reveal the find out what you have and you wait to the end for both times no we. We knew what we were having we we didn't do. Jenna reveals for for either the kids she she wanted a girl and we got the results back where the twin boys ocean's Kinda crushed so we didn't want to reveal advocate crush on the social social media for it. you guys. GonNa be the girl you're all set with the three boys now. I think we're all set that complete chaos house yeah. I can imagine yeah have four myself. I have three boys and we got the girl in the fourth. Try so we didn't have on four five by now. Gosh that's awesome. do me a favor. Please just just take a minute here to hit my listeners with a little bit about your background yeah. I'm play professional baseball and then they lose right now with the Oakland Athletics I've I've been playing for about eleven years before that and went to cal state fullerton where I played there for four years and then before that I was in I went to San Pedro High School in San I'm Peter California. It's where I grew up yeah very cool and how did the experience becoming a father kind of change your perspective on life. Oh man change completely it. The changes all those open four nights where you come home pissed off and makes any see their faces and it makes all go away because you realize baseball is not the biggest thing in your life anymore. Mark and you gotTa y if you've got kids and it's it changes everything for you. Yeah well said well what are some of the challenges of being a major league baseball player lobbying that big for me being gone from them all the time for on our road trips and then coming home to just complete chaos at the house but last year was kind of tough because I was on the I was in Tripoli for most of the year so it was on the east coast. I was only able to fly back and take it is to come on off days and see them so that was that was really challenge. That's probably the hardest part of being away. Yeah I would imagine that there are two small now. Do they ever the kids. Did you ever get a chance to travel traveled to see you on the road or they usually stay at home base yeah. They're pretty much a home base right now. They're gonNA come to Oakland. 'cause it's kind of a shorter drive. She can do anywhere past that where she has to fly. It'd be it'd be out of control at the airport for Okay and what is the best time routine. Look like in your house when it's time to put the boys down to bed and let's see how do you how does that work. usually it's bachelor show our then. We'll get him out. Then either we watch a movie for fifteen or ten or fifteen minutes and then I tried to read a book as much as I can with them every night just to have that experience with them because my my dad did that to me when I was younger so I tried to that with them. They're starting to understand what the books are now. They're getting to the point where they they like to be read and then I try to chase them around the house after that stretch tire mouse people the longer in the morning yeah that's awesome man in the major leagues. Is there like a little bit more like karate amongst the players that are dad's as opposed to the guys that are like single or don't have any kids. Absolutely there's always the everybody's got a different story every day about what their kids did last night or how their other wife reacted to what their kids are doing and it's pretty funny 'cause you if something happens guys can always ask other other fathers team how they went through it or if either have their whatever age kids are going through. They have guys talk to that. I've already been through. It's Kinda. It's Kinda cool yeah. That's awesome. Do you like to do the major league. I'm on ballparks. Do they have like certain facility or something in each of the Ballpark's year towards the DADS to bring their kids to the job or to the game. They have like certain areas where the kids yeah US too. When I was at the angles early this year we we can bring the kids before when every wanted to go to the clubhouse then when most of the guys out there was Kinda. Get the kids away. We're going into a routine and then anytime we have. We won a game. We bring the kids and after the into the locker room I had a little party and that with all the kids and stuff it was kind of cool. Yeah that's awesome. I would imagine it's gotTa be difficult. I know you've you've bounced around here from a couple of different cities. Do the kids like have friends ends with other players kids and then have to move away. They don't see those kids anymore. Is that become a challenge at all or they're just a little young for that yet. Yeah my kids are a little young for that but I've seen it with other kids where a guy will be with the team for four or five years and they're Kinda Co grow up with another kid and then they'll have to go a different team. That's across the country and kids. I mean it's kind of moving schools or however else any move for a job. It takes a little bit of a toll because they get used to having that little friendship at the I feel every day all right dad the NFL season is now upon us and the Major League baseball season.

I'm sure you financial quick to point that out. Dustin will be here with me and just a few minute so please stick around for the interview and I know that many of you dads out there. Have you kids playing t-ball. Little League is some form of baseball. Mike kids played about five or six years and then they moved on. I'm from baseball. I coached them for a while and one of the most fun and challenging years to coach is when they're playing coaches pitch talk about Major League pressure. Sometimes it'd be a kid standing at the plate there and he'd swing baton away that you know it would never result in a hit that was the case with one of my own kids half the time and what I would try to do is troll the ball in Enid to hit the back this way that'd be some kind of contact the kid could run to the base and there's no worse feeling than when you beam somebody else's kid and I did that quite often there and the following pitch all you're thinking in your head is don't. Tony hit the child. You know so you don't WanNa do it twice in a row. You're throwing the next pitch a little bit wild. It's totally different than hitting your own of course with the baseball then you're like. Hey sorry about that sunny johnny you know but when it's somebody else's kid the pressure gets on that next pitch so for any of you dads out there that are doing the coaches pitch right now best of luck to you and get the ball over the plate all right tomorrow on the ashore have an interesting guests to bring you guys. Robert Peterson will be here with me and he is making his living as an artist. He Paints portraits. He's extremely talented. I know many of you dads out there. Have kids interested did in art and maybe looking to make a career out of it so please lock it in for that. One and time is running out here for.
