"He actually had a real good opening game for us. I don't think our team played very well in front of them, but he's ready to challenge to. So those three are the mainstays from the cup years here in LA, but we still think they have a lot to produce. And if we can bring in some younger players and then bring in the key free agents or key additions to help fulfill that lineup. Now, you played for literally 20 years. At some point, did you start thinking, gee, I'd like to move into management, or like I found it hard to think about after playing while I was still playing, even though I still was broadcasting and most people thought I was a broadcaster, not a player or even when I was playing. But it's like, did you think like, hey, I could see myself in management, or did you even think about it? Well, I think every time we sat in the back of the bus with a group of us, we were all managers. Well, we were good. Yeah, why don't we get this guy? So he said, just make it to me. Why not? What are we doing? That aspect, though, I always enjoyed that part. I wasn't really sure post career what I wanted to do. I knew I wanted to be involved in hockey, wasn't sure actually the avenue and that. But I enjoyed the understanding of trying to build a team in different things. And I think that just comes with playing a lot of number of years in the league. How much did you or could you take from what when you worked with dean Lombardi to what became your style? Because eventually it's got to be your style and your way. But dean, of course, was incredibly successful. Yeah, he was real good with special projects in different challenges to not only players but staff also. And having to do more and more research instead of just watching games, understand what it actually happens in the game. And he was real big in video and he was real big and growing the relationship with the players. He would have daily meetings and issued different challenges. So there was a lot of, you know, the time that dean was here. So so many good things that he did to help the organization come together and grow. Now, are you able to is that part of your style or yeah, I enjoy the meetings with the players, you know, it's gotten a little different now because I think the majority of the guys that I had spent time with in the league or even in LA here are starting to go now with Dustin Brown last year was one of the few now just with kopitar and dowdy and quit. But just building those relationships, that's the fun part.

But it's also because the kind of people that they're selecting because the development process really starts those early interviews where you're trying to find out this player get better and if you pick the right kinds of players. I think guys like mike. Anderson are great example. Like guy knows what he isn't doesn't try to eat something else That's that's a real helpful thing so you see that throughout the shark Throughout the throughout the prospect pool. And that's really important for the kings to continue to work on those guys because as they do that And as the as these players understand that they just find ways to improve. I'm not sure if it's by luck or by design but to your point. I do feel like the kings have acquired more and more players like that. I was particularly impressed last season with quinton by field Who had that same sort of self awareness to kill. Thomas is obviously incredibly in her shirt. And even jared anderson dolan but even even the older players there was a a season ticket holder meeting a stated franchise event were dustin brown. Got up on stage. I think it was three years thousand eighteen and he talked about dip in his career. That was well documented two or three seasons whereas production foul and there were well documented Risk between him and the coaching staff and he talked about the importance of differentiating procedure with results and that he was focusing too much on results rather than rather than procedure procedures. Yeah it was a bit of kind of a completely new scenario new situation and I think it's kind of recognizes that living in these times they can open up new opportunities and of course you know this is one of them in the tennis world and I thought it was kind of really interesting to say I think in terms of what I liked.
