"Years at this point. So he is definitely a little bit rusty. But meemaw opens a gate. You see a sparkle of green magic as she tears a hole in the Demi plane. We aren't even going to have to hike. Is she sending us right there? No unfortunately, you guys are going to have to get to the mountain, but I can get you to the living wood. Okay. Okay, okay. Sorry, I just got. Oh, it's all good. You see, yeah, you guys travel. It's pretty good. Yeah, she rips open the world, and you guys go to another plane. You don't have to be overly impressed. That's not too bad. You don't have to do this. Understand. All right. Okay. I'm like 700 years old. You don't got to do this. No, it's real. This is how she sounded with The Serpent. Trust me. The Serpent. Yeah, she was attacked by a song. You were almost assassinated about serpent? Yeah, silver one. If you can believe it. I attacked it with my axe. Hard one that's so good of you. I feel like The Serpent almost destroyed the living wood. He's back. You've got it, he's got it. I think we can. Although it's just kind of like weird thing that there is one that looks just like him and is good. It's kind of like a cane enabled brother. They're twins. Yeah. Yeah, so there is one that you shouldn't attack. Got it. Well, we know about the root of the bad one. The only good now. Yeah. All right. Yeah. Gates, you guys, into the living wood. And you guys hear the skittering and chirping of nearby animals and she's still kind of in this frazzled like getting everything back. It looked like she was literally in the process of doing a ritual to swear cooter into being old folk again right there because not only are a bunch of them currently in the dreamscape, but a bunch of them are traders. So they are dwindling in numbers right now. So you see meemaw gives you guys all hugs and goes, all right, I need to get back, but I was able to get in touch with somebody to bring you to the edge of the mountain so you don't have to hike all through the Woods. Oh, that's nice. And mima gives you guys a little salute and wings at you hard one. I toast her with a can of beans. All right, let's go easy on the beans, everyone. Hard one. Let's not. No rules out. No one's on the mountain. Okay, if we're gonna be eating the beans, let's do it as part of the adventure where we like cook them on the fire as part of us going on. Sometimes you don't have time for firing them all, but okay. Let's cut those beans, everybody. We're gonna cook the beans. I stand in front of the portal, hold up my beans and a cheers. When my back to the portal and then do that thing where people bungee jump back where it's not looking. Insane. So you see that? Meemaw? Jumps back through the portal back to the crick as it closes. And you guys are in the living wood here in the afternoon, and overhead you guys hear a creature raising the tree tops and you see a deep elf ranger and a blue gray dragon to send from above, and it's your old friend's el zorn igni. I was worried we weren't going to get to see them again. Hey, you guys need a ride to the mountains? Oh, hell yeah. I thought they were going to send us like a Dodge Durango or something. This is way better. What is a Dodge your ango? No, Dodge Turing goes on the table. On page 98 of the maximum. What is maximum? I don't know. It's just a

"<Speech_Female> You're just <Speech_Female> lying in between both <Speech_Female> pads on the ground <Speech_Male> like <SpeakerChange> oh. <Speech_Male> Exactly. <Speech_Male> Yeah. <Speech_Male> Nothing better than <Speech_Male> using <Speech_Male> a rock for <Speech_Male> sleeping pad. <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> Nice, yeah, <Speech_Male> that's a good one for <Speech_Male> sure. <Speech_Male> And then last <Speech_Male> question, what's <Speech_Male> next up? <Speech_Male> What's <Speech_Male> the future <Speech_Male> for farm <Speech_Male> to summit? What's the next <Speech_Male> big thing that <Silence> <Speech_Male> have? <SpeakerChange> <Speech_Female> For <Speech_Female> sure, well, we are working <Speech_Female> on a couple new recipes. <Speech_Female> <Speech_Female> So <Speech_Female> stay tuned. <Speech_Female> <Speech_Female> But yeah, <Speech_Female> I think <SpeakerChange> for now, <Speech_Female> like our big thing is <Speech_Female> just <Speech_Female> really getting <Speech_Female> comfortable with our <Speech_Female> new space, our production <Speech_Female> facility. <Speech_Female> Here <Speech_Female> in Durango and really kind <Speech_Female> of <Speech_Female> amping up <Speech_Female> our retail space, <Speech_Female> the <Speech_Female> production facilities <Speech_Female> huge for me <Speech_Female> because <Speech_Female> we have <Speech_Female> two dehydrators <Speech_Female> in our own space, <Speech_Female> whereas <Speech_Female> we used to have <Speech_Female> one in a commissary. <Speech_Female> So <Speech_Female> <Speech_Female> we're just going to <Speech_Female> <Speech_Female> our production <Speech_Female> levels are just <Speech_Female> going to go <Speech_Female> through the roof <Speech_Female> in comparison. <Speech_Female> So <Speech_Female> I'm just so <Speech_Female> pumped for that because <Speech_Female> that's going to <Speech_Female> allow us <Speech_Female> to reach a <Speech_Female> lot of <Speech_Female> a lot more gear <Speech_Female> shops, <Speech_Female> reach further than <Speech_Female> the four corners <Speech_Female> because we'll actually <Speech_Female> have <Speech_Female> enough <Speech_Female> inventory, <Speech_Female> <Speech_Female> and then yeah, we're <Speech_Female> able to <Speech_Female> get all those meals <Speech_Female> locked down <Speech_Female> so that we can be a little <Speech_Female> more creative. <Speech_Female> And I think that's, <Speech_Female> like I said before, <Speech_Female> that's my favorite part. <Speech_Female> So <Speech_Female> maybe some <Speech_Female> cold soaked meals <Speech_Female> because I've gotten a lot <Speech_Female> of feedback that <Speech_Female> more and more <Speech_Female> people aren't using <Speech_Female> their stoves <Speech_Female> or <Speech_Female> just, <Speech_Female> I don't know, it's a good lunch <Speech_Female> option, right? You don't want <Speech_Female> to eat something super heavy <Speech_Female> when you have a big <Speech_Female> day, so just a cold <Speech_Female> soak <Speech_Female> pasta or whatever. <Speech_Female> I'm <Speech_Female> working on some for you, <Speech_Female> so <SpeakerChange> stay tuned. <Speech_Male> All right. <Speech_Male> How <Speech_Male> many meals do you guys <Speech_Male> typically <SpeakerChange> make in <Speech_Male> a month? <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> Does it depend on <Speech_Male> demand or <Speech_Male> is it? <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> Is it like <Speech_Male> is it like hundreds? <Speech_Male> Is it <SpeakerChange> thousands? <Speech_Male> Probably <Speech_Female> thousands. <Speech_Male> Wow, <Speech_Female> okay. That's awesome. <Speech_Female> Probably like high <Speech_Female> hundreds low thousands. <Speech_Male> Let's <SpeakerChange> go with that. <Speech_Male> Okay. Nice. <Speech_Male> Nice. <Speech_Male> Well, that's <Speech_Male> awesome. <Speech_Male> Well, heck yeah, well, <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> you want to tell people where <Speech_Male> they can where they <Speech_Male> can find you? <SpeakerChange> <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> So <Speech_Male> WWW <Speech_Female> dot <SpeakerChange> <Speech_Female> farm to summit dot com. <Speech_Female> You <Speech_Female> can order online, <Speech_Female> we'll ship to you. <Speech_Female> <Speech_Female> You can also find us <Speech_Female> on Instagram at pharma <Speech_Female> summit. <SpeakerChange> <Speech_Male> Perfect. <Speech_Male> Right <Speech_Male> on, well, thanks a bunch, <Speech_Music_Male> Jane. "The oral history and I took the tape with me and I was living far away from Denver at the time. It's about a 6 hour drive through the mountains. Every time I would leave, I would remember my mom saying, now we're entering the kingdom of the mountains. And so I drove all the way down to Durango and I had the tape and I had to go to the library to find a way to play it. And I plugged it into this VHS tape and I was sitting there with headphones and I was watching it and the first thing that really struck me was just to see my great grandma again. I mean, I haven't seen her since. I was a little girl and she died, but also since she's visited me and dreams. And there was one more thing that just really blew me away. My family now, we besides the few siblings of mine that have been able to reclaim Spanish and learn Spanish fluently. We are monolingual English speakers because of the abuse of the past. And my family talks about people being beaten school for speaking Spanish for being attacked on the streets for speaking Spanish. And my mother asked her in the tape, she says, what languages did you speak at home? And my grandmother looks at her and she says, well, we spoke Spanish, of course. And my mom says, okay, did you speak anything else? And my grandma says, well, yeah, of course. We spoke our old languages too. We did not just speak Spanish. And that, to me, it just felt like such loss. I had no idea, I mean, she was referencing their indigenous languages. It was incredible to me to realize that my family had lost so many languages and so quickly. It happened really in one generation..

"Back door to that main cabin and was sitting right there in the living room. At the time that you guys were right, how many people do you have on the ground out there, obviously it sounds like there's an air unit, but how many folks do you have on the ground? For this confrontation? With us, it was it was me and king, the resident deputy, McKay and his partner and I think maybe one other deputy that was there. I mean, before we get into the shooting and everything, right now, what do you guys think? You know he's got to be there. You know he's, do you think that he's there? Let me ask you this, do you think he's there? Do you think he's close or are you thinking faults alarm? He's farther down the road. I'm not really thinking he's there, but we're still going to with everything that was going on. We're still going to be cautious with what we're doing. So how do you be cautious with the guy who's just shooting everything up in sight? You know, how do you guys? So how do you guys start approaching this? How are you guys going to watch what's your plan to clear these houses? So I was going to go up and I was going to look at those tire tracks and just see if they went. Where they went and get a better look at it. And again, we parked down bound from the cabin, so he didn't have any view of us. So as we're walking up to the cabin, a silver Dodge Durango pulls up and it's a tune narcotics officers sergeant from the Redlands. Police department and a deputy from my department the service department. They run a joint team. So they pull up and they stop in the middle of the road like directly in front of the cabin. When we were walking up, it was myself king and then McKay was behind king. So king and McKay kind of break off from me to go talk to the two dark guys at the front bumper of the Dodge Durango and tell them what we're doing. He king tells them that the SV units had taken off down the road, continued, and we're going to check this cabin and mentioned something about the tire tracks. As I continue, I don't stop with them. I continue to walk along the roadway, just kind of looking down at the footprints and then as I'm getting close to the tire tracks. As I get closer to the tire tracks, that's when I break that first plane of the living room window, where dorner was he was offset backed up from the window a little bit in the living room. And as soon as I break that plane in the window, he starts shooting at me. Was he waiting for you or did he see you approaching you think or did he just happen to spot you when you broke the plane? You know, I think he saw the car, but I don't think he had a view from where the guys were at the front bumper. I think he might have had from where he was at was just maybe a view from the rear quarter panel of that car and then once I got closer to that window and saw that.

"Doing it. So there was yeah, right? So what I find is the Volkswagen doesn't get going very quickly. And I'm not, I'm not talking about like a zero to 60. Because 60 is fast. I'm talking like zero to 30, zero to 25. It just feels like you hit the gas and nothing happens until it has to I guess spool up with a little, I don't know two liter turbo or something. Maybe I'll maybe this is kind of our age, but remember the little kind of gimmicky toy. It's a little airplane. And the propeller is attached to a rubber band. And you know, like you use your finger and you spin the propeller to potential on the rubber band. Right? You're sitting here doing it. And then when you let go, it unwinds and then that rubber band the little you throw the airplane and it takes off. It feels like every time I'm at a stoplight and I want to get going, I feel like I hit the gas and it feels like that little rubber band has to wind up to create some tension. And then it goes. And it starts to go. W's gonna be extremely ecstatic if you use the analogy of a rubber band. I have a rubber band. It feels like it has to sort of build up that energy before it starts to move. And I was thinking about it on the way here. Now it's not a deal killer. It's fine. It's just you just have to kind of adapt your driving style. If you drive like me, then it's annoying. If you don't, then it's probably fine. But aside from that, everything else seemed fine on the tiguan. It's just you know, I don't know, that's just kind of my thought. As I'm sitting here driving these cars, I'm thinking what it is that I like or don't like or what's happening in it and sometimes it's goofy little things. Look, the Audi and the Bentley, you know, again, same same parent companies. Excuse me, the same family. Same thing, you know, out here with traffic. As you're making that left turn, there's traffic coming toward you, but you find the gap. You make a calculated decision. You know you're gonna make it. There's plenty of room. And again, you've got people behind you. And there's not a lot of left turn arrows out here. So you kind of have to make it. Otherwise, people behind you are going to be honking. Going, hey, you could make it, you could go. Except on the stupid Audi and the Bentley, which is so crazy to say because I really like those cars. I'm such a fan of Audi. But when the Audi sees or the Bentley sees a car coming at you in that lane, it jams on the brakes 'cause I think you're gonna get hit. And what happens is is you make enough left hand turn to get into the intersection and then if jam is a breaks and then you're like, now I'm gonna fucking die. Because someone's coming at me. You know? And that's way scarier than VW's lack of power. You need to turn it off. For the life of me, I can not seem to find a way to turn it off. A friend of mine had Bentley bentayga, the SUV, and tried to turn it off and couldn't find it, went to the dealer and they're like, oh, it's deep within the settings. He's like, good, find it, turn it off, and they couldn't turn it off. A true story. He got so frustrated with this thing. Again, it's a driving habit. So it's a way we drive some of us drive. And he's like, forget it. Traded it in straight up, got a Rolls Royce. Trying to do the valley for a Rolls Royce literally for that reason. It was just like, I can't do it. It's like, it's just a frustrating thing. Anyway, see these little quirks that sometimes they're fine and we can adapt around them sometimes that they are maddening and we can not adapt around them. Anyway, that was just some thought I had on the Volkswagen take one. Aside from that, it's pretty, it's nice. You know, it seems to work well. Yeah. It is. Dodge Durango. The 2022 Dodge Durango is out. They've got some new features in it. Usually more technology, some upgrades, things like that. They've reduced the amount of colors, I think, as they start to phase out this vehicle, I think there was 11 different colors, probably like 7 different shades of gray. They got a down in like four. It's just like black, white, red blue, gray, or whatever. It's just like they've kind of narrowed it down. We're done with the hellcat engine for sure. And so the SRT Durango is pretty much done, which, look, I mean, the hellcat version of it is done. All of the end of last year or the beginning of this year, we kept saying, hey, get the Durango hellcat because we're only making a certain amount. We weren't lying about that. I know it was advertising, but that's what it is. So now if you want one, you can see if you can find one on a lot, otherwise they're all account for you going to have to buy you. You're going to have to wait for bring a trailer to put one up there. But I don't know, 2024, we've got two more years with the current dog Durango. So if you want if you want the current Durango, now you can get a three 92 engine. You can get the big V8. And you can always modify it and hot rod it do whatever you want, which is one of the things we liked about Durango. And the Jeep grand Cherokee, right, especially the V8, the track hawk, people would say, why would I get a $90,000 Jeep grand Cherokee? Would you get Porsche Cayenne turbo used or something like that? And I said, well, for me, it was like, do you want to modify it? You know? If you wanted to modify it, if you wanted to make a thousand horsepower track hawk, then you could do it. And the drivetrain holds up, I think, you know, I think Mario gearheads was basically saying, yeah, you do half shafts on it, and aside from that, it's pretty beefy. He's making some big power with those things. I'm sure you guys are going to have your Goldberg's garage, power packages for the track hawk. All of the hellcats, right? Yes, sir. Anyway, so if you guys want to Dodge Durango, this is her out for basically two more years. You could still get that three 92. If you want that, it's cool. It's big. It's fast. I'm trying to find out what were the what were the colors. Black, gray, red and white. Those are the new colors. Black gray red and white. They got fancy names, but you can go in there and dig them up. But that's pretty much that's pretty much what they are. And speaking of the new Jeep grand Cherokee, have you seen it yet? This redesign, they're trying to go. It's actually, it's actually very nice looking. It looks it looks good. The interior looks good. I don't know exactly what all of the engine options are going to be, but as far as the pricing, the entry level grand Cherokee Laredo is going to be 37,390 bucks. So sub 40,000. The it's a good price point. Yeah, it seems like it's gonna be a good price point. From there, the altitude is the new model. It's a just about 42,000. It gets you a nicer leather heated front seats, remote vehicle start a few things like that. You can get the limited gets up to about 43 1700. Which, by the way, is about a $2500 increase of the previous generation limited. So there is a little bit.

"That has ever been and will ever be reported on. It doesn't get any more worthy than this. I'm considering ending the show after today. Man all right let's rate on here. Let me read that last sentence again. he murdered his thirteen year old son dylan in a fit of rage after the boy found photos of red wine wearing a red bra in eating feces from diaper. I wonder if we featured this guy on defeats redwine appeared next to his lawyers in court friday wearing a black shirt and a red draw underneath maybe and a great tie but no jacket and no bra. He awaited the verdict with his hands folded and showed no emotion as it was read out is lawyers john. Moraine and justin bogan did not immediately respond to a request for comment on friday red wines trial on murder and child abuse charges. You guys think that child abuse charge was really necessary. Murdering a child is child abuse. But more importantly it's murder rate. That'd be that's the big charge. I think like the child abuse thing. It's like punishing him for the same crime basically unless he did something else to the kid. Red wines trial on murder and child abuse charges began in mid june after years of delays in two mistrials. How am i just now. Hearing about this case someone really should have brought this to my attention. All right Dylan redwine was last. Seen alive on november eighteenth twenty twelve yet arrived in durango colorado for a court ordered visit with his father amid a contentious court battle between mark and his ex wife elaine. I wonder why that relationship didn't work out. Well i notice my bras. Kept coming up missing. And whenever i kiss my husband he would have the worst breath i put two and two together i found shit streaks on my bra dylan and mark age. Fifty nine had argued and fought the last time the boy was there. Dylan didn't wanna stay with mark and asked a friend. If he could sleep over at his house a request that was denied by mark that evening dylan.

"Trails. They shut down for that. Blm timeframe i think like december to two million. Because i would like to. Actually i would like to ride that in like april exactly. Yeah there's there's a hard hard point There's a spot in glenwood. We ride all the time that generally dried out by april time of the year. And it's getting han junction. And we we wanna go ride there but it also has those seasonal closures and yeah so as much as i would love to see new trails and in these beautiful mountain areas all over the on would be honestly amazing because it's such a beautiful area to ride and hang out but you know i think at the end of the day if you have a spot for the mountain bikers to go to and you know it's a little bit more populated. I think protecting those wild spots is probably your biggest. There's areas that mu- bikers can go and do a lot of riding in wild con- like if you go. The colorado trail molest to durango mountain viper can ride that whole section. They're seventy five miles or something you know of high altitude terrain. You know what they shouldn't do is get off on the little side things where there might be some pockets of elkin over into these other areas and stuff like that certainly let me just bring up one point and you know the seasonal closures are great to just what i think what does happen in some of these areas. There's just no. There's no money for enforcement in terms of these agencies that after manage that so you can put a sign up that says closed but you know it only takes a few a few folks and it's like having season right. Yeah it's like seasonal shed hunting closures. Yes yes you know. Start sticking some. Gps isn't some antlers in the field. And you'll zeal closed. Yeah what are what are some like it would be a good compromise here Because it just seems you know especially in a place like colorado. There's gonna be more people moving here. People move here for the outdoor aspect of it like. What are some ideas that you guys have just like. What are you guys trying to push right now because this does seem to be an issue. That's really come up in the last couple of years and maybe we could get you know your perspective on it as well. Yeah well we've seen with the one again. Kudos to the mountain bike community that are so well organized and funded and pushing what they want which is more trails and all all over the place. I think what's lacking there is is the fact that those trail systems are have usually been proposed without taking Let's say l. caveat into consideration as much as we're we're trying to to push in in our sort of counter proposals one when we have the opportunity to do that and You know there's there's different ways. Seasonal closures are are one way to try to moderate the impact but about rooting those trails away from from those key habitat air is the the the best habitat areas and and maybe keeping them closer to populated areas like you brought up already There's gonna be more trails. There's no doubt about it because the growth across colorado across the rocky mountain west across the country so collectively i guess our our best case scenario would be that we have groups formalized groups that sit down and everyone gets input when all these plans are getting laid out. So we can. Hopefully you know minimize the impact on on the the wildlife resources while also providing those recreational needs that are going to continue to grow. There's no doubt about it so no. What's your take on electricity bucks. That's how that's a. That's a hard one. That i i really like out. It makes people able to get out more right like you know you want everybody to enjoy that mountain over there and some people are less or less fit or have had injuries that may be caused to have an e bike right. I personally not the biggest fan. I've ridden one. They're insanely fun by. It's a very exhilarating feelings. After work as hard there but i think there should be a little bit of work done for example in our area. I'm not sure if it is now but there was a point where there's only certain trail citizens you could ride right. That new riding a bike on you could ride almost everything on a on a standard mountain bike but you bikes were limited. And i'm not. I know there's been a big push to get more e bikes out there right. Where e bikes mostly on motorcross drills. Like you know off road vehicles. Atv's that stuff that you could ride and e bike on. And i think that it's starting to open up a little bit more. So i think in. Because that's i mean having to put the e bike into like the motorized things his really like going to a hunting competition with a self bow and your everyone else has compound glitter. And they aren't there are motorized. You know you're still working for you. Know you can still get a hell of a workout from an e bike It just makes it easier to go further and longer and go on more era. You know where we're at twelve mile ride. Our areas pretty rough. You know on a on a standard mountain bike without without assisting Twenty six mile thirty mile ride isn't out of the idea. So maybe seeing more of the. I guess you can travel more of that land you can. You can get into more of those areas where it may be disturbing wildlife so i think certain areas should have a little bit of limitation in that aspect. I think there. I think there's a push from everybody. You know all the mountain bikers want more trails anybody's e bike wants to be able to ride all these trails. It's it's it's a tough subject to talk on in that aspect all the manufacturers want to make it easier than they want everyone to buy the latest greatest. Exactly it so you get to a point where the mountain bike has very little development. You know Potential and you gotta sell everyone by mail yet and even in the mountain bike community. There's there's differences of opinion. The bike is you've brought up but further farther faster and that's what it's doing and again just now there's going to be another impact on I mean there's there's there's there's one a us blake which is why you see the bike folks most of these big bj. There's a whole bike brand than i saw when we are western hunt expo. Hunting acts on it. Big old tires. Let's see i see him most events. I'll bet you're going to see an e bike yeah. Atv.

"And all of that has been a big help. I think being able say you're sorry seems so simple brett for saliva. It's not. it's not easy for me to admit that. I'm not perfect so i in our relationship is probably harder for me to say i'm sorry When we're in the wrong but that really does go along. Way you know is being humble in recognizing when okay. Maybe a little harsh customs. Ram being able to fall on your sword known from. Yeah yeah real quick. We haven't. I don't think i've brought up this topic before on the podcast but you talked about your kids taking them into the dealership after school. It's a big family thing. How do you guys talk with your kids do you. Especially when you have. Maybe some difficult things you have to talk through. Do you try to keep that away from the kids. Or i mean they're still fairly young. What what are your thoughts about raising children while you're growing a business and kind of teaching them about what it means to run a business who i think. It's one of the base blessings we could ever give our children As being able to be in that dealership with us in cedar moment dad working hard and leading a team and then also getting to be apart on pbs. When we first took over my son was four. My daughter was six. And i'm My daughter to this day. She amazes me still but sh she'll go and help out your clothes apartment. She'll she talks to customers. She answers phones chief. She's an expert t shirt folder. She he shows up at our our weekly staff meetings in the summertime and we start the staff meeting off. We open a prayer and then we do values in action so our core values in teamwork integrity passion service. We open it up to the team and go. Hey is anybody that deserves a shout out for values in action and our little ten year old daughter will go I'd like to recognize kennedy because she just did an incredible job hoping this customer the other day and she really showed passion and teamwork. And i'm just going like wow like we're all that is so cool. Yeah it's amazing to see her. Just feel so comfortable in that environment and feeling like it's home because it is it's like you know if we're not at home either school or the with us and so it really is a family business. And i'm every person in dealerships that works with us part of the daily extended family and they feel like million raise their kids to so So they are kids. They're being immersed in it since day. One we try not so you know when there's we don't we're trying not to have money conversations with them as you know things that are just beyond their understanding but when it comes to leadership and hard work we absolutely let them seattle. We encourage them to come up with business. Plans are will hold. Well even have like little interviews with them every once in a while. If there's different things they wanna do around you shop. Our our daughter for several years during the labor day weekend we we. We house hosted huge to call the four corners motorcycle rally and our has been running eliminates sin every every weekend for the last three years now and one night we got home and i needed change for the babysitter and i told all got one hundred. Emily goes data. I've got changed for that. And i said what he came back. She had four hundred dollars at. She had saved from running lemonade. San so we went and we opened up her first kids savings account for her. And it's just been so neat to watch her. You know understand the the value of of earning a dollar Delimiting they have to pay rent. They have to donate ten percent back to the church. She on her own picks a charity to donate oliver tips to. They have to pay for any help. Pay for the cost of goods in You know i want him to understand. The cubs cost money. The ice costs money. They're limiting us. Money leftover. So yes your profit. Yes we kind of business too. Yeah yeah that is so awesome. While you've talked a little bit about this along the way. But i'll always like to ask. What do you guys do to keep the fun friendship and intimacy in your marriage. It's never stop dating your spouse. You know when you when you're running a business to growing business you've got. Two young kids never stopped dating your spouse and you know i i hear myself saying that and at the same time i'm going you need to ask her out on a date really quick but you know we try to make time for one. Another obviously with kobe. The whole last year has been. It's been so crazy for everybody but canine. We've we've done little book studies together. We've been trying to take walks together. were often. we'd try and we're not perfect but to set aside twenty minutes of intentional time where there's no screening so kids where we just talk. Just talk about the day in. Sometimes it's weird and it's a little awkward and clunky to get started going okay but also you find just twenty minutes later and you just. Oh my gosh Don't forget about this. That i just think that's important. I never. it never stopped dating her. Never stopped making her feel important to bring home flowers. One just because you're in trouble not because you did something upset her but just because because you love her in the accident service in just understanding that others love language and minds minds physical touch surprise surprise right so i know but she knows something as little as is walking up to me and just kind of putting her hand on my bag or or you know a couple extra seconds when she hugs me when i get old like those things to have this incredible impact that i'm learning they. You know i. I desire that. I need that where she needs. Acts of service quality time at so you know understanding what how the other one works and how you can talk to them. In their love language. I think is important and i definitely the way keep son going. Is we flirt with each other time. Yeah work i mean you know again. It could be must be inappropriate. Who that at work right but we only guys have been crossed the shower floor. Give them a little rain. You know and he just smiles like that. Those things early funding is being able to You know how finding whatever atmosphere ends of. It amazes me twelve years you know. I remember when we got engaged in. You always have the naysayers almost like you know. Life's gonna come to an end and forget about any intimacy in the relationship. After you get married. I feel so sorry for people that experience that because twelve years later and it's not always easy i mean there's definitely ups and downs and in charges but we look overall in last twelve years. I still just can't believe how much more i fall in love with this woman every day like every day even in the bad days it just blows my mind that i can continue to fall deeper and deeper in love with her. And it on every level in every level the spiritual level growing in our faith and you know just as friends that intimacy all of it like. It's just amazing. That's so great katie. I was reading up on your facebook post. You know. I do a little checking around. Just what something that catches my eye just to get to know people a little bit more before we do these interviews and i found a really great quote and i wanted to close us out with this because i thought your words were so perfect but it was a picture. You guys have been out on a ride. I guess.

"Wonderful. Yeah yeah so. It sounds like you guys learned to pivot and a lot of different ways and you know some couples. They get very fixed in their roles. Like you have to do this. And i have to do this. And i think it shows them depth and flexibility in your relationship to be able to ship. You know there was a time when mark had gone back to school and we literally kind of flipped roles. He would cook dinner. That was a little scary because he really didn't cook a lot. At the time i remember he made something one night and i like. Whoa good honey tastes a little salty or maybe it was missing salt one or the other he was like. Yeah well i. I had a hand on my hip and i was talking to mom and and i was cooking and i was like i just realized that you know as women. I don't know we just seem to be a little more able to multitask and But we did. And i think it gave us both an appreciation of the whole picture of what it takes to run a family. Somebody has to bring in money. Somebody has to do laundry. Somebody has to cook. Somebody has to clean. Somebody has to pick up the kids but it doesn't have to be the same person all the time and it really does feel so empowering. Doesn't it to to be that team absolutely. Yeah kane. I were going to marriage like pre-marriage counseling and stuff and i forgot who said it but somebody said it's none of this fifty fifty stuff. You're either one hundred percent in one hundred percent or not and that really katie and i and there's there's seasons i mean their seasons of life for i'm running on empty and i just can barely go anymore and have these challenges and she's always there to pick me up lift me up and then the flips and then there's times where she needs to step it up a little bit more and chip in and help out and support a little bit more. But it's always i've never felt anything western one hundred percent from her and i'd never buy always tried to make sure i'm giving her a hundred percent of myself back. Yeah i think that was a that was a big kind of off limits for both of us was when was hearing that i think it was relentless. We'll just that. Maybe yeah. i'm our business coach back home. She i think she's the one that said that marriage is not given take fifty fifty. You know each person has to give one hundred hundred so but something that we. We frequently fall back on this statement. Yeah yeah so you had a business that talk to you about marriage also kind of covered all boundaries. Yeah we had a under under the guise of a business coach shoes actually a chaplain but didn't amazing professional development personal development. Yep so great. When did you guys start working with a coach man. When did i start working with her. Probably in two thousand six or seven and what your did you should do that. The father that was the owner of a dealerships. At the time there is a lady named sally who had who he knew sally worked at the content of the little hot sauce company and sally went off and sally's salsa which was being sold in every heb across the state of texas. And how about said. How did you go from working on the lineup. Kante to now you've got this wildly successful sausage company. She said has by distance coach and the dad looked at his senate. He said you see these two dating some of that in their lives. They need a little direction. And it's really interesting. Because when she showed up she asked these really strange questions. Like will. What your mission statement. What are your core values. What type of legacy do you wanna leave. And i'm like what are you a totally foreign language. I'm like what are you talking about. Like our mission is to make money and have fun. That was all that legacy like. We're living for the moment and roelant had such a tremendous impact on that pivoting. That that she just brought this perspective to life of having a vision and a purpose in emission values in didn't taking that with what katy learned at the statement tonio spurs of value based leadership approach to running the business and All of those components cayman together to really form us to the type of leaders and owners that we are today at is really cool. Such great mentors. You mentioned some challenging marriage times and we don't have to get into specifics. But heart of the reason that i started this podcast is especially in the entrepreneurial world and you look at what you all left lot of security family friends to go to something that though you felt strongly led to do it was still scary and it was. You had to put both feet in the same boat if it was going to float right so there there are challenges and i just see so many couples that when hard times come. They're just flabbergasted or scared or they think there's something wrong with them. So i would like to hear a little bit about. What are some things that you all have done when you've hit those hard times. What are some things you've done to strengthen your marriage and get through those hard times A lot of the big issues that we had her match happened a lot earlier in our marriage all become stepping stones and building blocks the making stronger. You know because we're pretty rock solid. We still have our lows. That i'm not like vaccine but back then. I think what really helped a lot of ways was. We weren't afraid to go and see a counselor. I warmed up to the idea first and then cherbourg saw how it was helping me. And then he jumped on board and being able to harvest someone outside of us. You know. that doesn't doesn't know us. Personally you know can sit. There and help mediated discussion. Help see other ways around how the other feels I think that was a huge huge thing to have for us in our marriage early on even now we still go to a counselor once a month now just for maintenance and call it you know because there's always things to talk about and work on. The marriage is a commitment. And i am. We made our commitment for an god and it was something that we take very seriously. So i'm also extremely thankful because i i have a really amazing man here that loves me unconditionally. In he shows me that every single day and he He's never given me one ounce of inkling at all that he wants to give up when things get tough anything he's the rock that keeps us together so i think every day for him but I can know counseling and being able to communicate and he's not always easy both struggle with communication. Something that's so important. Yeah and do that. you know. Do counseling and not just not just with a marriage counselor but with other friends with other you know couples. That have been doing this longer than we have and being able to talk to people that have the experience in in kind of like what you're sharing with your listeners of we've learned so much from from couples that are you know five ten fifteen years out ahead of us that we've been able to lean on in times of need and and really understanding how to communicate with one another understanding triggers and that. It's not always us like. I might react to something and it's not because it katy but because it's something that my past that i'm still kind of figuring out go okay. I know i'm not gonna take that personal. Because i know he still working through that or vice versa so just understanding our triggers and how to communicate.

"No crazy piercings or anything. No we're your joe's. Yeah so once upon a time harley. Was this bad boy image. And you know. Peter fonda dennis hopper came out on their custom harleys in easy rider but that image has changed. Dramatically are and i. I remember when our oldest son. Jeremy was in fifth grade first day at school. He comes home and he is so excited like he's not usually excited about school but he came home and told us that it was a real interesting teacher situation. It was a husband and wife that co taught and they owned harleys and that was their fun time. They would go ride most weekends and so he just thought that was so cool. My teachers ride harleys and so the image has really changed. And i would love to hear a little bit about how you've have seen the culture change and what part you have played in that. Do you think went without a doubt. So you know in in two thousand one. I graduated from. Tcu with a marketing degree. Nineteen ninety nine the software development of the corporate scene for a couple of years. And i'd never ridden a motorcycle. I was nineteen. I mean even the word motorcycle never even came up at my house as a kid that time family practice doctor like not even an option like not even something they give consideration to When gene and i wrote me first motorcycle just went. Oh my gosh. This is freedom and adventure and independence. These people talk about like even just versatile labyrinth parking lot. And i wouldn't know more about this. But what attracted me even more on. The experience was the people and i remember sitting at was sitting harley-davidson and the former mayor howard peak and the discharge the county judge nelson will and the komo county sheriff at the time bondholder they hanging out with three or four bandidos which are part of a one percenter outlaw motorcycle club right as soon as they step out of that parking lot. Those guys are kind of like sworn enemies to law enforcement judges in outlaw motorcycle guys right but inside that dealership motorcycle that shared experience and i kissed was at it in a can still visually see at the moment going. How amazing is that is more than just a motorcycle of the brand. Is the lifestyle that that is harley davidson motorcycle. It doesn't matter if you're in is ceo of a billion dollar company or if you're the janitor doesn't matter if the local sheriff for judge or outlaw motorcycle guy it was it was just like the great equalizer. Everybody was respect. Everybody was treated as long as you being code. Respectful every show back to the other people and so he's just before facebook before winner. Was this incredible social network of people from all different backgrounds and walks of life and Just so diverse with this common love of freedom adventure in independence which that harley davidson motorcycle represents I'd like to add to that. You know me myself. I also. I didn't grow up in a motorcycle family. Actually my mother for me and my sister my little sister from ever writing a motorcycle which it's funny now. It's like the running joke because my sister also married a harley guy who runs a dealership up north so so we're go way. I know it's a. It's all in the family now but What i what i love about. The motorcycle community is and i've come to learn this. As because most people do look at motorcyclists and the big bad bikers because they were black and they have tattoos or long beards or this or that and you know first lesson. I learned Was you just cannot judge a book by its cover because these the people that ride motorcycles and harley davidsons you know they are some of the most loving most charitable giving souls. I have ever met my entire life. And i'm more scared of the normal people walking down the street downtown durango than i am with these big bad bikers that walk in and out of our shop every day. And it's true it's true because they're also really big protectors. And i know that i shall extremely safe with my children running around in that shot all the time. They're really not all that big bed and scary. You know. I can't be but it's not. It's not the majority no. Yeah yeah yeah awesome perspective. Yeah d- ride katie. I do yes. I have my guns. I got my license about because it's almost two years now but i i don't have my own bike yet and i'm not on the road yet. She does have her own motorcycle. She has really awesome. Dirt bike avid. It's not the same as a road bike. But anyway trevor's just a little nervous about me writing because i'm a good writer. He's worry about people so we're getting him to loosen up that fear a little bit. So that i 'cause i i enjoy it's fine. It was being. I've always on the back with trevor. And that's fun too. And i enjoy getting to do that with him but there's definitely something extremely empowering about being able to handle a big machine like that then be It definitely is a freedom feeling for sure and it makes it a little harder to get on the back now trevor. Just because. I know that i can do it so. Yeah yeah i'm gonna get. I'm going to get there. Yeah it's a big machine intimidating as it seems. It's really fun. Okay awesome and you guys are up there with that million dollar highway. I have driven that before and have seen many groups of motorcycles and just thought lilly cow what happens. If you're i guess you can get a blow out on a motorcycle and that is just a drop out there but uniform injury on my gosh. Yes so you moved from new braunfels to durango. And i really wanna hear your story about how that came about and that process of you all becoming co owners right you both your listed on your website anyway as co owners. Tell us more up at. How did that opportunity come up. And how did you process that as a couple a lot of prayer a lot of prayer and you know the going out in the deep kind of five approach to it you know by by twenty six teen. I was just kind of at a point where we're something needed to change from our current situation And i kept trying to see if we can change chapel. Where in texas. But through all of that harley davidson motor company and approached me and said look wayne one dealers like you and because you have this equity in these shops may go out and look at at finding kind of gave me some creditors and canaanite. We'd never heard this could never true story of drako colorado. No idea where was never heard of idea like the opposite side of colorado and an gooch drink as barry barry southwest corner for those not be on your geography right there in the four corners were new mexico. Utah colorado all connect and.

"Was really fun chapter watching katie in that season of life. And i would go back to the harley dealership until by sales guys if y'all hustle. Hard by wife. As you would be selling more motorcyclists nouri because she went through my entire in contact with an. I want to know every. Cpa attorney this. One that you've ever worked with. Mike and not just me like she did that with every one of our contacts and and you know created this in a very short period of time this incredible hannah referral network and it was. It was so find the seahawks because she was in his own she was. She loves fashion. She loves making people happy and feel confident and and she loves dilling independent and that job kennedy took all of those elements and put them under one umbrella and she did so so great with it was really really fun to be able to sit on the sidelines and watch her run with that. Yeah and at that point. Trevor were you the gm. In new broncos. I will say yeah. I was general manager and vp for the got soccer family and in two thousand eight. We sold one of the or two before. Locations that alamo city harley-davidson main source t. Shirt store down on the san antonio river walk and when oh eight happened. I never sold a motorcycle. When i got involved with those guys in november two thousand and one israeli business development which which i love putting together business plans casting the vision getting people's by trading or charged like thrive in that visionary role. But i'm and i tell my staff is. I'm not a good general manager but no eight when the class happened. Remember you know the family came to me and said you need to go. Fire the gm and green and green harley-davidson a new braunfels texas. And if you still want to have a job you're you can be the new gm but that's the only way we can still have a job for you. I've i've never even sold a motorcycle. Like what am i gonna do and so it was a really intimidating a transition for me but it's one that i'm so grateful for because in. Oa when i moved into that role and then within about a year or two hours overseeing both the newborn foals in the dealership which still him in at that time by two thousand nine hundred thousand and ten forty plus million dollars top line revenue. You know we had close to a hundred employees forty to fifty per store and So it was a big job and one store is a big job. Haven't you stores and our part. It was challenging to save raced. Yeah yeah and for you part of say twelve at that. Let me ask it a different way. At what point did you join c. Twelve you and mark met through see twelve quite a few years ago so things around two thousand twelve or thirteen hours going to a pretty radical transformation in my life and we could go down an entire rabbit hole about that. But i had. I decided our daughter was two years old and our son was newborn. And i decided you know that i was powerless over alcohol. You know i. It was such a miracle that i'd never got in trouble no. Dwi's never got in trouble with the law but my my health and relationships were both collapsing. And i had really struggled with alcohol and and tried quitting on my own and never just get to three months under my belt and then something would happen and so anyway as this really incredible crossroads where i had fallen on my knees and the shower on monday morning and just started crying and to set guy. I can't do this anymore. I don't know how to fix this. I'm so tired of fighting this. We cleese take this from me. And and a few hours later attended an observable. It's humbling and at the time. It felt pretty humiliating experiences. But i went into my first. Aa meeting and being in small town new braunfels. Thank you know. Of course you know half the room in there but it was during that time where i just said god. I need help like take that at our church. I attended by. I actually treat was as peter. Peter and paul i bet bikeshare who was leading the c twelve group back joins e tall group and then was immediately surrounded by this this bond of brothers of christian odors. And why i paul meeting as guy barney. Randall's said you need to quit. Your job might what you say seriously. You need to quit. You can go to tell them you're quitting today. And how are these people. Like what is he think. Why does he think he has the right to tell me to quit my job and know run into this natural defensive posture outta love. That the way they were talking to be in so long senior question but yeah it was about two thousand two thousand thirteen when when we really started to get involved in see twelve and look at our business from her perspective that these are god's businesses and we're just lucky enough to be a steward purpose is to share his love and just love on you team love on your house. Demerged roddick good profitable business. And and so. That's that's what we did so back up just a little bit has now. I'm curious guy. Said you should quit. Your job was saying that talking about at the harley davidson yet right. That was working out of respect for that situation. It was just heap short answers. He wasn't happy he knew. I kind of reached a point where there's a saying unequally yoked and And we were definitely. At that time i had become a partner. The businesses in two thousand thirteen. I actually became a minority equity partner both dealerships and and i think it's fair there. There's no right wrong or you know judgment. But we we were just very clear on yoga's as partners and okay and so they just so different values in the company versus your own values. Okay that makes sense. I respect that we may not need to go any naper. I am so fascinated by this whole harley because listeners you cannot see trevor katie but they are the most all american looking company. I don't know if either of you have chat twos but they're not business not.

"But it was really when we were in vegas. I like just the fact that she agreed to come up. There was a big deal. And i just i could not take my eyes off of her. And there's a lot of distractions. Vegas and i just knew like made them like you. Don't like don't screw this up. this loves you. She's so incredible and that chapman vegas. That was where. I made up my mind that i'm gonna marry her one day and so awesome. Thank you for sharing that so in the beginning. Trevor you said you were already working with harley davidson in san antonio is that where your career started. You know back in. When i was in college. The family that owned the harley davidson franchise at san antonio The sun we were best friends and has fathered opened a bar on the river walk called houston st l. house and the summer between my freshman and sophomore year at tcu. I came back home to do summer school and my buddies like hey we need some help like barbeques and stuff like that. If you wanna summer job. So i was a little league. Eighteen nineteen years old mop the floors clean and rushton's why should glasses at dishes. And that was. When i first started working for that fan read while you're in college the sounded i started a couple of motor sports. Marketing companies together before versus llc reformed was with him and got out of college about. I do the real world thing and did software development consulting for a couple years and how to allow these successful career right out of college with that but in two thousand two on when the dot com bubble burst decided to take a chance and a mood from dallas texas. Where i was living back to san antonio it was really just two points me a temporary thing. Well as we can again for another real job as helping that family out again but in two thousand two harley davidson was just booming in two thousand. Three hundred anniversary of the brand. They can do no wrong. I mean the demand was way up. Pacey with supply and so it is really need. Gotta grow with that company. When i started in november of actually november two thousand one when i started with that family and we We grew from twelve million dollar company to over sixty million dollar company from two thousand one to two thousand and seven so you know being in my twenties and being kind of helping lead this incredible growth in from one location to location and from twenty something employs over one hundred employees which is an incredible experience. But yet this november will be twenty years. That i've worked with the harley davidson brandon and harley davidson dealer network. Wow i didn't realize it been long and so for you. Katie you graduated college. And where did. Your career began the day after i graduated college. I started working In the broadcasting department for the san antonio spurs. So i got a really know exactly. Yes goes i go Feel really blessed for the opportunity to work with the spurs organization. A right out of college So i worked in broadcasting. I was like a sales assistant. Basically and i help associate. I guess is the word. They use but You got to help our sales managers in selling corporate sponsorships so like anytime you go like to a basketball game all the in arena scientists and all the tv radio spots during the game. That's what we sold that we did. And it was an amazing experience for me to work in that organization because one is just cool. I mean there's a lot of perks that come with getting richer the spurs but more than that. I had some amazing bosses Some leaders that really really cared about their their people and they and the things that my vp told me. One time i went to interview for another position within the company. This is like a year or so later. I knew that. I may be not wasn't quite ready for it but i wanted to go for it anyway. And he interviewed me and and he went through the whole process and at the end. He said he no katie. Said i really value you. And i value your work here said it but i don't want to set you up to see you fail. And so she was able to let me down in a way that lifted me up at the same time which is something. I've carried with me throughout the rest of my career And that's just one small snippet of of what it was like to work for that organization. They were really nurturing and know really. A lot of the leadership values. That trevor. And i used today within our businesses have come from the model of of my time at the spurs and how how they approach leadership. So i this. Working for the spurs was by far my biggest learning experience in the workforce. And then i'd have small stint working at this at the skater store in new braunfels I don't think it was even a full year. And then we got pregnant with our daughter and i I stayed home from the non so for about seven years. I stayed home and then when we moved here. The ringo chevron partnered up and now i worked a harley davidson okay so trevor you said you had started in l. and your friends started. Llc kind of entrepreneurial thing did you consider yourself an entrepreneur at that point even label. It that while. I mean i didn't i didn't have a label for back. Then but you know. I mean from being in six grade in middle school and getting busted for hustling sentiment toothpicks. That would make at home. Five cents per acre five for twenty five cents and you know and one thing. I'm really grateful for his parents always made me work. I mean. I remember in the summers when i was fifteen. Sixteen seventeen. eighteen working at rockin are river rides. You'll being resentful like all my friends out there having fun and i'm hearing parking cars and Tubes but in axel's dumber. Yeah you know it helped. It helped me appreciate what would would it takes to make What good work ethic is. But i always you know i was always looking for that little side hustle and ways to and it wasn't really about the money it's just. I always have fun. Putting deals together and you know do an entrepreneurial activities before i even knew what that really was. What a that. That's what i was doing And we had dinner. It has been several years ago and so a lot of the story. I'm forgetting but i do remember katie. That you at that time you had a business. Was it men's clothing. Oh yes yes i After being stay at home mom for a few years. I was starting to get the edge to france purpose outside of the home. You know. I know a lot of bums out there. Feel that way. And i've been through the same thing And my My best friend. Rachel had just joined this. Menswear company called j. hilburn. I'm based out of dallas right. Yes in that sells custom men's clothing. And i saw she came over to the house and measured trevor for some custom clothes and i just thought it was the neatest thing to see an. I love fashion. i was like rachel can do this to. Let's do it together. So i started my j. hilburn business. So yes i am. Basically would go meet clients in their home or office than we would take their measurements in. Have these big swatch. Books and gentleman kick out. You know design their own word joe. Basically tailored to fit them and it was really. It.

Be out there in the community and and making you know friends and she definitely more social okay. Who's the most stubborn trevor. Why you know it's true okay. Who wakes up. I i do chapter. Who stays up late. Katie me painting. Who's the better driver except on a motorcycle. I cannot bring a motorcycle. England her but when it comes to car katie's definitely better. I'll give you that. Esther yeah very good all right well. Great we'll transition now into your story. And i want to hear a little bit more about how you met so cute little blonde. Getting out of a red car That how you met. That is how he met back. Visit like fifteen two thousand four four two thousand four was running a handful of harley davidson dealerships in the san antonio market and we also were licensed boxing promoters with the state of texas. And we were throwing these pretty significant mass gatherings concerts they concerts festivals events. And we would hire marc. Yes term it. I'm sorry you said. Licensed wet Boxing promoter so we were thrown k. Sanctioned boxing mixed martial arts events with the texas boxing commission and what we would have marketing teams. That would go out and help promote our events in the communities and And that's how we met katie through one of her friends they got hired. Be one of our marketing teams and go out there and Promote one of our events and so we met initially in the parking lot of alamo city hall davidson and just love at first sight. Sounds like so how long before you got married. And how did you guys know that this was your forever person. We dated for about five years before we got married. Five to six years I would have married him way sooner but trevor. I'm thankful for this like there's an age difference between us there seven years so when we met i was i was still in college. trevor was already Graduated working for harley and whatnot. And i felt for him super super fast and I would have married him. You know a year after we had Started dating but she was really concerned about about me. He wanted me to make sure that. I finished and got my degree and got my career started and did those important things. You know the Kind of figure out who. I am as an individual before. He wanted us before we got married. I'm so thankful for that. Now you know that we waited. But yeah i guess it was about five years before we got married in. I knew i knew. Trevor was the run because honestly from that first night we met because we had we ended up sitting down out on the patio and it was late at night but we were just. We just started talking. But i couldn't even tell you remember what well we talked about but what i remember was just having this instant connection with him just feeling totally at ease that i could be myself and i felt that he was really open and shared things with me and he was just a really deep soul and i had met a man like that. You know in my whole life and i was used to fraternity. Boys just wanted to go out and get drunk all the time you know so it was really nice change of pace to actually have an adult conversation with this man middle just so smart intelligent and so from the day i met him. I knew that there was something different about him. So it wasn't long after that that i realized i wanted to marry him. So that's how i know. Do you knew pretty early on how. 'bout you trevor. So i come out of a season of life where i'd been some pretty pretty tough our relationships dealing with a lot of betrayal and just just hard stuff and i was really not looking to fall in love but there was something about katie. That was different. The age thing was definitely like you know. I like y'all you do need to figure out what you wanna do in my And thank god that she was persistent and she never gave up on me And she rubbed me even when we were dating in away that i had never experienced just such as your earlier. Her superpowers really the way that she loves. And so getting experience at first hand. And i remember when i started falling in love with her. I got scared to death and even even called. I said we're we can't do this anymore. Because i was really starting to fall for and side i called things off and and she she was like you know what i'm gonna keep going back and forth back forth of. You're not interested. I'm going to move on with my life. What does that do the guy right now. Senator and she dead she. She moved on and i realize i mean within twenty four hours. I was sitting there going. What are you doing like really. What are you doing to go back out to the bar. Scene in san antonio and find a woman is pure and his loving and just that makes me feel so much joy that i felt with katie. I promised her for her twenty first birthday to take her to las vegas. She had never been before. And so i called groveling. Hanging will get two separate rooms while blah blah. But please let me take you to vegas for your twenty first birthday. And she's set some really clear expectations excite my mind. I was thinking man a free trip to vegas.

You knows a very very neat very magical anniversary that we're going to celebrate so yeah twelve years cool. What did y'all do to celebrate. We went we were able to have. Trevor's dad came up to help us with the kids and trevor and i went to the broadmoor hotel resort up in colorado springs and it was just so beautiful In just so romantic and was a great weekend getaway hiking all sorts of great activities also food and just really neat place about a doubt. Yeah we went there for non of our share a couple years ago in january so it was off season. The rates were much slower but half the hotel was also close they were doing some renovation but it is the most amazing historical you know and the arch. That's their own. Oh yes yes pacing the building and the history and all the things that that make up the broadmoor just interesting and beautiful and yes. We had a really great time. Yeah did y'all go to the zoo. Did not go to the zoo Pretty cold and i don't even know if they were open they still had some things closed because of the staff shells so at that everything was wistfully open but i song tainted be awesome to take all of our team to the broadmoor. That level of personal is customer service. Where they just make you feel like the most important person on that entire piece of property in that whole experience it was great definitely something we would love to share with our whole team like. Take everybody up there. Let them experience that for a couple of days hennessy. What was yeah. They really are. They are one of the top. I have a brother-in-law that's in the hotel industry for his whole career. And that is that is their benchmark. You know how fun it was. Great and you guys. You guys have a couple of kids. But i've lost track of how old they are. Yes we have two children. I'm our oldest is milly milly grace. She is ten in our son. Reese is eight a very good. And so what are your current job descriptions. Well so about three and a half years ago. We purchased the wrangle harley davidson dealership. Here during the colorado and our current job descriptions katie is our oversees our marketing and our retail side of all the different merchandise and stuff that we sell on the retail side of the shop. And then i'm the acting general manager for the dealership so the motorcycle cells eboni counting service and parts kind of falls under under my umbrella marketing. Pr and merchandise. That katy helps lead. And the recy- okay great. We're gonna get into much more of this story in a minute but awesome thank you. I wanna do a couple of fun. Get to know you exercises. If your marriage was a team sport what would it be Well i would think. Maybe i'd have to say baseball church. Dicate i think and they came based on. You don't have to have the same. Why i think if the game of baseball you know we've been doing a few curve balls in life no doubt and you know we've we've hit some things way out in the left field you know you just don't know what's up. Yeah also to do all of that. You know we still finished the game and still still work together as a team. So i'd say i'd which is my favorite sport anyway so it works out very good. What is the others superpower. What do you think. Trevor love for. Christ is is really her superpower. Her desired always be going in our faith to be sharing her face with other people. You know when when her. I've met that was a big part of my life that didn't really exist and do our journey and i know we're getting into this later but katie was a big part of as an adult bringing christ back in our life and Then together we've made sure that he say the center of our our family and our marriage but You know her her love. Maybe a more broad just general katie is as she's got an incredible way of loving people and And her love for christ is really the super power. That stands out to be very nicely. I change my now. Let's see trevor's superpower to me. I really think it's his ability to connect with people he Being in business with him and even before we were together. i've always admired. How he can just walk to a stranger and strike up a conversation and connection to anyone just by means of small talk and just starting conversations. And i think that's why he's done so well in business is because he's he's got a great ability to to listen and also be heard but really connect with others. And it's it's i would learn so much from him because that's not an easy thing for me to do it all and so he's a yeah i think for him and his not only career but just in his everyday life you know. He's able to really connect with people and just find a way to see what the other needs wants to kind of connecting go from there. So i admire that about him a lot. So would you say yeller. Moore's similar or opposites. i think we're alex is wouldn't you agree. Yeah we're definitely different crystal without be. That'll be fun to unpack because that keeps it exciting. Right shan always something to learn. Okay i have a series of rapid fire questions in katie. I pulled this from your facebook. Something you had reposted. Yeah uh-huh okay so this has to do with your relationship. Who was interested. I think maybe me she. She took the initiative to kind of like really spark up the conversation. But i still. I still remember the very first time i ever saw her. Get out of that red mustang in the park motor city harley. David said you know. And i was. I was in the season of life for a really gotten of a a really bad engagement and was not looking for for anything but you know. Katie definitely caught my eye and i said wow. There's something something special about that girl but so chaotic may think the attraction was there for both of us by. I initiated initiated. It you go girl. Who's who's the most sensitive trevor. Sure i'll took terror mccain has the worst temper maybe me. We both kind of temper. My red line is way out there. Like i got a lot more views as longer than mine so i snapped before he was Cracks the temporary. You know it's bad. But katie made me on shorter time level unless patients.

Dealing With Pilot Drug Tests

"Professional pilots, we have to deal with drug tests sometimes on a random basis, sometimes on a preemployment basis and you may be wondering how this all got started. Well, we have some. We have some druggies to thank. There was an accident in one, thousand, nine, hundred, Eighty, eight, and I have a link to the action report in our show coach. Accident in Durango Colorado Trans Colorado Airlines flight twenty, two, eighty, six, crashed during an approach. Now is the CO pilot who was flying. He was a not very competent co-pilot who had an alcohol problem, but alcohol was not a factor in this crash the captain. had been reportedly using cocaine about ten hours before the flight, his girlfriend related to. Others that they had been doing cocaine together although she refused to speak to the accident board. So as a result of this president, Reagan signed. A bill. That required alcohol and drug testing of people in the transportation business, and that includes of course pilots. So there's going to be background screening and drug testing of all airline employees and what they test for is marijuana cocaine opiates. PCP amphetamines. And you have to take that test prior to getting employed, and then you have to periodically take it on a random basis as a pilot or as as another worker. For example, ground school instructors, air traffic control workers, aircraft dispatchers, a nation mechanics. Flight attendants, flight instructors and ground security people they all have to drug test. So now you've heard me say this before if you are interested in recreational drugs like when you're on vacation or it's a few days off or something like that, you might want to consider getting into a different industry because you need to be drug free the rest of your life while you're an airline worker or airline pilot. So you can decide I know marijuana is legal here in Colorado, for example, and. During during the long shut down for Covid may be some people here in Colorado were tempted to to try it because it'll get out of your system and a few weeks. Not a good idea. You can be tested drug testing on a random basis at anytime. I remember when I was a a simulator instructor. At Boeing I had a call one day said you have to go to such and such an address and be drug tested and you have to show up within I? Think they gave me an hour to get to that location. So, I drove to that location and I already had to I had to pee pretty bad when I got there and wouldn't you know it? There was this one facility and there were a dozen people ahead of me in line it was a very painful weight and then I finally. Got Scene and and gave my specimen. But if I had if I had said, well, just can't go or. I just don't want to do it now or it's not convenient for me that would have been the same as refusing the test, which is basically for all practical purposes the same as failing test. There are lots of things in the regulation that talk about. About how they treat you if you refuse or fail a test, it's not the total end of your career, but there are some it may be or it may not be depending on your circumstances. I suppose if you're driving to the testing facility and you get in the car car accident or something that would be a legitimate reason to not show up other than that, you need to go and be tested when they tell you on a random basis, it's time to take a test. So when I was a united airlines as a as a captain on the triple seven, there were several times when I. was randomly drug tested upon arriving back at Kennedy from a Tokyo flight. And I had no no apprehension about taking drug test what I had an apprehension about was it might delay me and I might miss my commuter flight back to. DENVER. So united, they would send this message prior to our descent telling us that we're going to be drug tested, which is a really neat thing for the company to do because typically at the top of the. Sent. Before you start your descent, everybody goes to the bathroom and then after you land, you might not need to go again for a while. So they gave us a little forewarning and then when you land in a case like that, there's someone from from management who meets the crew and escorts them to the to the drug testing facility, which is at the

Dragon. Just shoot now like when you're over fifty, you get you reap the enjoyment out of videoing everyone and. Consoling them after they've been launched across. The, Lake Yeah, it was very entertaining. I'll be uploading many of those. Like, they're having a great time out there. visit. Great. It was a great bet. You guys can see it on his instagram you're dragging your you got the boat. You're the kids are out on the rouse being dragged by the boat. They fly off. You pass the sack. You see the slasher out your. Their lives. I can. Carry? Them would have died I couldn't have posted it. Had this scroll through all my other videos to find out a comparable to find out that they were doing good something. We've got some cool ally interesting news about The McLaren announced that well, the Gordon Murray announcement that we wanted to get into. So we sort of got this job. So we can I hit that before we get started. Just, another word from our friends at Dodd's it's A. IT'S A it's time for dodge power dollars and that means for every horse power. You get ten dollars off your purchase on dodge challenger Dodge Charger and Dodge Durango come in and save dodge power dollars for pretty sweet deal. So as we As we are sitting down to record this. There's some news that's out there, and of course, the most interesting stuff that we're finding is Gordon Murray finally took the wraps off his. Off his new SUPERCAR, his t fifty supercar, Gern, Gordon Murray very famously designed a series of f one cars had a relationship with the Clarendon did the McLaren won Three Seater Central Driving Position Car I love that car bill I know you love that car it's sort of a wishlist amongst us all. I'm sure everyone who had an opportunity to get one at one point kicking themselves now because they keep going up thirteen, million, eight, hundred, million in life be knocked twenty million dollars going nuts So there was a great video presentation that came out. With Dario Franceschini taking a touring ordinary designs during Gordon, Murray on a moto and they took the wraps off this car and It's it's. It's pretty it's pretty cool. Gordon Murray's thing has always bands. About lightweight and from this car from. The initial design in his head all the way up to what it is. Now he said a goal of no more than one thousand kilos in weight and he hit nine eighty I believe puts it somewhere around twenty one, hundred, seventy, maybe twenty one, hundred, seventy, four pounds. This is extremely lightweight way in in. Today's world. Under twenty two hundred pounds. Of. A modern day car it. The Way to do that. And explain it when you go and you watch the videos, you read the press about it. Is. You have to design this thing from the ground up. With weight savings in mind every single step of the way, the the CAR IS MONACO CARBON FIBRE the entire bodies carbon fibre everything. That could be carbon. Fibre is carbon fiber of. The the engine he went to Cosworth and said, it needs to be naturally aspirated. It needs to be the twelve. It needs to be lightweight. needs to sound fantastic and it needs to be naturally aspirated. Of course, right? So. What they came up with was three point nine Liter v twelve. Six hundred and fifty, four horsepower. Three hundred and forty four pound feet of torque again small. You Know Small Displacement High Ramming twelve thousand one hundred RPM match. Enjoyment. You know I've A. Peak power is at eleven thousand, five, hundred dollars God, and the power to the Torah curved the I think the peak torque is around nine thousand. RPM. So between nine thousand and not red line of eleven five that thing just must sound insane and. Just skewed. Now, he didn't release any performance specs yet because Gordon Murray's thing is like I tell you zero to sixty whatever. But everyone's GonNa go after that intestine. beat it. He wanted to focus on the things that meant

They Didn't Charge Me a Dime

"I just had a great day skiing and I wanted to talk about my ski boot for a minute here because every excuse knows at your boots are way the most important piece of gear. You've got way more important your skis and I've recently looked at my boots. And this pivot here with serta holds the entire tire boot together. I mean you've got these two main pieces and this pivot and Miss Pivot hold the boot together and I looked down in. This pivot wasn't there it was gone. It was missing in one hand. I'm like Jeff your skin hard enough. You're getting after your blew up your boot. That's really cool. The negative is boots are very expensive. Like eight eight or nine hundred dollars expensive. Plus it's an investment of time. I mean to go get a decent boot fitting is like ninety minutes or two hours and we have a good feeling is is amazing and to have to go replace boots commissioner. It's a pain so in any case I walked into a shop here in Durango and I said is this fixable can you. Can you fix this thing. They're like I'm sorry. Once you blow this up you gotta get some new boots total bummer. But I wasn't so sure about that answer so then. I walked into Ski Barn and Ski. Barnes read a main avenue here in Durango and I thought I was going to go in having to buy some new boots and they are known as great boot fitters so I walked in but I brought this boot in short him in there like Oh. That's a bummer. So they brought me down to the boot FEDOR and he's like well you know that part is a special order order part and there's some old those are older boots so I have to order. 'em might take a week and I know you don't want to be off the mountain for a week but let me see what I can do. So then he went and dug doug into his drawers of parts of spare parts and he was able to figure out how to fix the thing he's able to put together a bunch of different pieces and get it bolted back together and I said wow thank you so much I thought it was gonNA have to spend eight or nine hundred bucks a couple hours. Get some new boots and here. I am walking out five. Maybe ten minutes later completely fix oh by the way he said. I'll order you the right part. So we won't have to Frankenstein. Your boot together and we'll get that new part in a week and we'll get you all all fixed up and it was just amazing. Amazing so why. Am I telling you this because look what I'm doing I am telling you about this. I'm telling you to go to Ski Barn into Rango to get all your ski here. I'm going to be buying skis. This year new skis. I need some new all mountain skis. I've brought my skis and I'm GONNA Goski Bar. They're gonNA get thousands of dollars of business from me in the coming months and years because he took five or ten minutes. Look through spare parts and used to skill and fixed my boot instead of trying to sell me another set of boots. So the reason I'm telling you all this is we all have places in our business where we can take care of people and we can get people saying amazing things about our businesses. Yes in my business claimed. We're perfect but I think we do a really good job of taking care of our clients and that's like one of the rules. I don't have that many rules in my business. One of the rules is we always take care. Appeal owners and so I am power my team especially my customer service. Everyone on my team that is is in contact with our clients with our Pilaf owners. They're empowered to take care of our people. They're empowered to make decisions to take care of our people people and I think that's one of the reasons that I've had so much success over such a long time product launch formula been in the market since two thousand and five. There are no other products that are still on the market. Now yes I put a lot of effort into continue updating it. It's a world-class strategy. It gets people's results. All our success is based some people getting great results but in addition to all that we take care of our people we see our owners as an extended family so the question. Russian is where Your Business. Can you take care of your people where those places where for for the for the cost of five or ten minutes and and some spare parts you can over and beyond and surprise and delight your people because it makes a difference. I was riding the lift today with you know. Sometimes you're left with strangers. Here's lit up at a ski area and two different times just today alone. I told people story of this boot. I told Them Ski Barn. They took care of me. They're amazing senior awesome. Go check him out here. I am telling thousands of people for the cost of a few spare parts and five or ten minutes of effort. How can you you do this in Your

"The talk about this horrible tragedy that took place on Thursday night for three people a family just ruined three people lost their lives a four year old girl a twenty nine year old in a forty eight year old woman losing their lives at the hands of a thirty nine year old driver that police say was driving out of control and recklessly and we still have two people that are in very critical condition a seventeen year old and a ten year old it happened in our community right here at the intersection of desert in and Durango where I frequently passed an intersection maybe I half a dozen times a day and we have been talking about this and we want to get some more details and of course weekly guest of the show correspondent Chris win was at the press conference this morning that just concluded Chris how you doing thanks for joining us Hey what's up Chris thank thank Brian thank you eighty it's good to talk to you guys of course the press coverage just wrapped up here at Las Vegas metro police headquarters here Joe Lombardo as well as numerous city officials and leaders held a press conference and it was important for a couple of reasons guys first of all of course the threat the horrific tragedy with the crash up on desert in Durango that took place on Friday that the allies the four people including three members of the same family of course Brian you pointed out the bills that are injured in the hospital right now no further detail beginning yet in response to exactly what does any if any charges will be will be filed given that the person actually because that is also to see but the reason I statement court press convert that because obviously we are what we are forty we are twenty four hours away from new year's eve here in Las Vegas and that was the focus of many of the leaders and well as sheriff will borrow as they wanted to point out awareness of B. W. I. and of course enforcement and what that means here in the city of Las Vegas so Chris up before we get to new year's eve and and the issue with drunk driving in this town did police give any further specifics for information on how this crash happened are how fast is this man or woman may have been going at what what specific information did you get from this press conference that perhaps we didn't know twenty four hours ago there was not at the end as far as detailed in response to what what the actual driver did that they've made good response was misleading there was no indication that you got you got a question about five minutes ago Brian as to whether where you're coming from that as yet not yet been established I am I I would expect that there in the early stages the investigations lab necessarily on these that information it was more so in the press number does more focus on the family and on and on the individual that are affected and also getting the word out and and getting awareness out to those in Las Vegas that Hey you gotta slow down you gotta take ownership of but of of your driving ability than what's going on and you cannot drive in there now as you go you got the ball pointed out it has not been established yet that this individual was under impairment there could have been a medical condition that that could have taken place but there's been an exercise here in common sense right guys I mean basically it I thought and assumption what is going on and they can say look you know the the the fact that he was speeding the fact that he basically was not staying within his travel lane and that he ends up we're renting a car in the intersection where everybody stops you can pretty much make induction right guys you can make you can make a determination that impairment than Kian as well as in its use is heading towards the Rango than he was actually heading up he was actually heading up hill and if that's the case and he had been driving pretty quickly I think that if he fell asleep or if you had a seizure he wouldn't of usually went once or falsely for their seizure at the wheel later maybe going thirty five forty miles an hour they're not going nine year hundred that that's true but but I I'm I'm I'm basically focusing on you know what that what what the the motivation is right as far as like as far as determining what was the car that crashed and getting it and what it is that it's a horrific tragedy without question and what makes this unique guys I think and what what was then the realm of obviously the October one shooting and other tragedies here is that if you can't put into words how devastating this is for the family it's it's a look I'm not trying to be a little any other accidents in the valley but normally guys right when there's a car accident normally there's one fatality maybe two right and and a lot of time they had to do with the actual negligence negligence of the driver went up being deceit this is the case and Brian you pointed out a grandmother a mother a daughter were all killed in this in this horrific fatality and that that's why I think it resonates so much with people here in Las Vegas that's why it has gotten it again or not you and then of course as I just pointed out we are on the heat we are are we are on the on the verge of happy new years eve near Las Vegas yeah I had it it was really about that I want to right we really focus yeah of the river city leaders and and careful borrow to point that out like that I want to get to them here's the yeah we don't want to get into any of that let's let's get to that one second I just have one more question it's about this question it's important to note there's a seventeen year old by the name of Emilio Martinez who was saved as walls of ten year old granddaughter destiny Martinez my understanding and this is very sad to report in and I spoke about this a little bit earlier the seventeen year old friends of the family are saying Emilio is most likely paralyzed and may never be able to walk again is burned throughout his body the ten year old from my understanding is still in a coma now they've set up a go fund me page and we're gonna put that up on our Twitter page did police talk at all about the victims any updates on their medical condition because last we heard it's not looking too good now the world ready I just exactly creek in the far as what their state was in the hospital I I would expect that in the coming days there though yeah obviously really for that information but you know again I I don't want to point out that the press stop was was focused on right on the on the tragedy but was also focus on prevention either but the young couple a couple of the leaders walked up to the podium and what's holding up newspaper headlines and pictures Brian a J. D. of the scene of the in this fiery crash that yeah that took place and again I can't I can't over emphasize this I mean that that's just the nature of the of the circumstances in this crash are why it's it's it's you know it's something that being focused on so much you have you have a number of cars that are basically bursting into flames that intersection not necessarily thing that you would expect to happen in a car accident like this so that I think the combination of those of those characteristics of what happened at the scene as well as the loss of life that was that was tremendous and that is just absolutely horrific and tragic I think that along with a combination of but the fact that we're never getting seven years eve is is read more it did give me well aware of the dangers of driving while impaired out there and of course you know your Las Vegas and ride you at JT talked about this as far as you know at the time of day it doesn't matter the time of day your Las Vegas because people it's a three ship out so there's people on the roads at all times a day in you know different types of impairment or different types of you know scenarios that they present that they put themselves and that just didn't say and so that was another key aspect that they want to point out was like that you know we are going to enforce it all any any type of driving under impairment or any type of you know do you why you're going to be held to the letter of the law and that and that was pretty much the extent of it so could start are you kind of saying that you think that the press coverage was more of a to to protect tourism type of thing because the optics of the situation that they really don't look very good and and do something at that's not really being brought up is the fact that this did take place in the intersection there was a gas station probably fifteen or twenty feet Dagnall to it had that had had the the fireball been closer that gas station is bigger and I would have been it could have been a a major major explosion answering all all the gas there yet to get quite gate I brought that up we shared one body out I have a question about the good Samaritan right that were on the scene this of billion not exactly the first responders on the police officers that ended up showing up there but the people I ask them you know I'm always apple was that it you know because I did want to present the question away at all it could have been much worse because obviously was still a horrible tragedy but basically the jet my question was that I wanted to you know get it eight on the billion then what they were able to do at the scene and yeah absolutely parade being the people there that look they're not police officer they weren't you know firefighters first responders were trained to deal with the situation and yet there were you know there were individuals there that were civilians that absolutely save lives and Brian you brought up of course the circumstance the people in the hospital if you know the fact of the matter is that if those people hadn't jumped quickly and had acted quickly those people that are not firefighters they're not least officers there will be more fatalities in the strategy and make no mistake looking much work you're right you're right and make no mistake about it those good Samaritans are they are the true definition of what a hero is someone who risks his or her life to save the lives of others and you know as I said that there's no question that if there weren't good Samaritans out there I I don't doubt the fact that those two kids would not be alive right now so certainly we wish them the best in the hospital if you're just joining us we're speaking with Chris one who was just at the metro headquarters at the press conference talking about the latest information on this car accident this day the crash that took the lives of four people at the intersection of desert in Durango just a few
