"In, the first eighty four years of racing at del Mar and San Diego, the track has had just three regular track announcers, and for the last thirty six years since one, thousand, nine, hundred, eighty four. That man of course has been trevor, Denman. Toco Catalina Cruz Ed writing. Bad tyke takes a confident block back. He Sees Battle of Midway still in the contest there at the top of the line now. Catalina crews still just being pushed along by Dryden. Van Dyke Battle of midway trying hard to make a rights of it but Catalina cruiser really just a workout for him today striding away Mag, never looking individual to Catalina cruiser and Drayton Van Dyke absolutely crews in the Pat O'Brien. But Trevor Denman will not be at the Mike as the del Mar summer season gets underway this year. His wife and he are not comfortable traveling from their Minnesota dairy farm, where they spend most of the year to so cal because of covid nineteen, the sixty seven year old. Denman insists he'll be back at del Mar for their November season so for now. How do you replace a treasure like trevor? Denman not easily, but del Mar found a pretty good pinch hitter. By. Peace. Gesture. That of course is the voice of Larry Coleman who just happened to be available to fill in at del Mar this summer when not working for network television, and it just so happens to be available to spend a few minutes with us here on in the gate from your standpoint. How did this opportunity come to be? Well what happened was Berry. I got a call from someone who was representing del. Mar was actually a friend of mine and said Hey. I I'm hearing that trevor is not going to be calling this. Meet coming up and you know when when I found that out I, contacted del Mar right away and said Hey. I am available at interested in and we made things workout, so it was, it was great. I'm really looking forward to it. When you consider how few track announcers del Mar has had and the rich history of that track, what does it mean to you to spend an entire? Meet there. It's pretty amazing I. Knew that Trevor and Harry Henson had had the last fifty years or so wrapped up, but only Joe Hernandez was before them, and then I think there might have been one guy that I was told that worked one back from the place, first opened and was replaced the next day, but I. It's a thrill to be involved in that. I mean to follow all the people I did in New York and now I get to do that at least for one meeting del Mar.. it's it's pretty neat. Trevor's been there for free decades. Complete Legend in the sport and and Harry Hinson another one before him, so it's it's really. You spent two memorable days working at del Mar in two thousand, seventeen, the Breeders Cup. The year gun runner won the classic I'm guessing you don't need binoculars quite as powerful as the ones. You needed massive Belmont Park in New York. What do you remember about what it's like to call races at del Mar.. It's pretty good. Sight Lines del Mar of course where I cold from was not the regular. Trevor was calling the Breeders Cup from the announcer's booth now I was in a makeshift booth out on the roof, just to the left of him, which was open air, and then really nice, but the views there are really really good i. took a look from the outside booth there and there's very little in the way, which is the the complete opposite Saratoga where basically everything is in the way. And it's a mile track and I haven't called too many races recently on on mile tracks on a regular basis, not since I called the Churchill back in two thousand fourteen everything else has been bigger, so should be fun, and and also not too difficult as far as seeing the action compared to some of the NYRA, tracks. This is at least the thirteenth track at which you've worked at least four of which don't exist anymore. What kinds of quirks do you try to find at each place to make it easier to spot the horses and call the racist? Well with the case of del Mar there really isn't too much for wise. It's pretty straightforward. Mile track with a seven for long shoot. You know the back stretch and then to shoot coming at you on the turf course, but the better question is the next place I'm going to be calling Kentucky Dow's, which is one of those places that is really quirky and I'm GonNa. Be while I'm calling del Mar watching a lot of videos from Kentucky downs to get an idea of what that's going to be. Be Like because I. Understand that that is one of the more difficult places to call races, and luckily for me I'll be splitting the with Michael Ronan. Who did it last year? I'll ask him some some advice on What I should be looking for when I'm calling. If Kentucky downs, you should be watching racists from the current to try to figure that out. It's a very European style. Course it different. It's different for sure, so we'll. We'll do our best and But del Mar is is pretty straightforward. We're talking with track tracking answer Larry Combs who, in addition to calling racist for NBC spending this summer filling in for Trevor Denman at del Mar. Now you know that in sports. It's hard to be the guy who follows the Guy Phil Bankston didn't do so well coaching the packers after Vince Lombardi left. You know. Does that sort of thing? Creep into your mind at all trying to follow Trevor Denman? Well, I. Follow Tom Durkin so I've got some experience. You go from the East Coast number, one guy, following him to the West. Coast number one guy following gift. It's a little different with trevor in that you know he's just taking this beat off and his plan is to come back with the fall, which makes it a little bit easier for me. It's not like Oh. This is the guy that you know? Following Trevor Denman is the new voice of del Mar, but the thing with trevor were so different. You know our style of calling races. Obviously, he's got his South African accent and and I'm from Maryland. So the difference there and Trevor and I have known each other for many many years. We worked together at Golden Gate fields back in nineteen, eighty, eight and I learned a lot from. From him when I was calling out there that I learned a lot from Durkan when I was calling on the east coast, so it's great to have even been able to to follow these legends see now if del Mar had taken Frank Mirror, Amati he could have just called all the races as Trevor Denman and no one would have known the difference because his impressions are just impeccable. Well you know that is true and and I, I, don't let too. Many people know about this, but I can do a few impressions myself. I i. in fact I used to do them on the Mike Years and years ago, but I don't do too much anymore, and and frank tells the story of being Los Alameda One night when I was calling the Orange County Fair. Fair and I page for Trevor Denman to contact the announcer's booth, then called an entire race as trevor and frank said that it was. It was actually so good that there was one word that I said that was not trevor like, and that was his tip off that it really wasn't trevor so I can do that a little bit too I just don't do it much anymore. I won't embarrass you by making you try to do that here. Which races won't you be calling it? Del Mar because you'll be calling racist for NBC. The last week actually. It'll be del Mar all the way through August thirtieth,.

"Park. let's go. Oh God park on Saturday. It was kick it off with the main event race in the APPLE BLOSSOM HANDICAP GREED ONE. Hr SIX HUNDRED K. For phillies of mayors four year olds and up going one hundred miles like I said earlier. The Max Field of fourteen lined up for this one and surprisingly not the favourite surrogate imprints the eleven four. Two one. Three two one on come dancing. That is your favorite now with D. Wayne is last seen finishing off the board in the Breeders Cup fillies Mayor Sprint draws outside fourteen. This is an interesting very interesting to me. But seventy two on that one and then really after that it's kind of more wide. Open your big power players. They're just before we go through this race. I mean you got to think about you know what this race means and you talked about like how. How big this race is but look at this. Listen to these past winners since Cincinati. Also that she wanted in two thousand eight but she was. She was upset or that that year. Let's Talk Twenty Ten so Xanada choose twenty hammered across plum pretty on fire. Baby Close Hatches. Untapped. -able forever and bridled stellar wind unbridled. Mo. Midnight B.'s. You I mean that's the WHO's who of top older billionaires in the last ten years I mean that's incredible lists and that's what's coming in here and running at midnight but do we have a horse in here. That can be that good as they get older Niamey. Four or five. That's shot at it as far as betting field. This is the best apple blossom I've ever seen by five because usually the apple blossom one or two really good horses and heavy right then. Four or five. That really don't belong there either always semi small race. You know. It's very rare. You see an album Boston with ten more than ten horses. I mean I would venture to say. I've never seen an apple blossom with double digit horses. Let's fair guy. I can't think of one but it's happened but yes fourteen. I mean my my Lord and your gotTa think run Mile Sixteenth So you're GONNA have. It's it's a little work to get in position as it gets the first turn so this is it definitely adds some entry. So let's talk about a horse that I think I think I would have pull the trigger on. I'm not sure if you have a horse that is coming in this race. Just blazing two in a row. Just winning lights out going to go and mosques team for the first time but really is untested in the last last two starts Of Two thousand twenty. So what do you think of C. C. especially drawn neo post fourteen? I did pull the trigger on. Cc THAT'S GONNA be my top pick in the race. I hate those for. Here's the deal. This is weird. I time got to be the first person that handicaps these races when they come out because I work on the guide right so I I worked on this forever forever. This was the hardest race on the card for me and I can't go into season. I'm like God I'm going to be like the only person the pixes worse waved from the outside and then like an hour after I'm done with the guy or at least not the whole guy with this race John White since his and he's got I'm like okay. I feel better. You know he if we both see in it and then I like at the morning line. 'cause I'm handicapped. I'm thinking all right about eight. To one is probably what seventy two so? I'm not dealing lert but look I hate the post. There's no doubt that's going to be tough but watch her race last time out. When she wins by three links she's four wide four white on both turns so hey she was wide last time. It did actually. She was five light on the first turn. Last time didn't matter still on so you know she's she's going to have to be pretty much. I mean I'm not going to say much the best but she's going to have to be better than the rest of these shared to win. One thing I think she's going to get is a lot of speed of front to look at. And I know your top choice and I really like your top choice. But I'm really afraid of giant speed duel in this race because there's a lot of fast tourists assault. What you take away as kind of a hint there who your pin. Yeah so let me. Just be clear like there is at least. That's currently running. There is very few horses that made me more concerned about Paul. I can play this horse. Like single source. Because she's so hit or miss. She's so grabs. The lead in his over or grabs lead gets a speed duel. And it's also over in another way and that's number eleven surrogate empress. I mean she was unbelievable in these areas. Last out here at Oaklawn Park. She's I mean she is just she's one of those horses that you kind of know what it is she is she does brings it the last time out. She got a very easy lead and was ridden out and Talamo got the mountain. He's back again. And it's just a very workman-like effort but a big time for one zero one buyer that day when you look back in Houston latest classic. She gets there. She gets out finished by Lee. Abbas in the race. You know you look back at the Breeders Cup staff you know. She got by blue president. Ibiza two horses. That are very good. So it's hard to say. I mean look at her. I do feel like she's starting to even a little bit in terms of Yoshi used to be very like hit or miss like way would be unbelievable or completely off the board way way back fifty links. She starting to kind of round herself out. I feel like the Tilles. She did finish sixth beaten. Well beaten but since then the staff. He's from ladies classic and She just got rain at Ryan down. The apple by the way ran a career high number that day and then of course in these areas she really put it together so I just I get I feel like they're speeding like cookie dough. Obviously droves right to her inside. She's got speed. My biggest concern is not the speed speaks. I think she's a speed of speed. It's more of the the speed it's GonNa require for her to get in position that to me is going to be quite the run especially with her inside. Were GonNA be gunning for the lease well and she gets you know gets the upper hand there so I'm more concerned with with the start of the race. The Star into the turn health quick. She going to have to go in order to get where she wants to be. I'M GONNA Guess Thomas Not GonNa mess around. They know you get this all you do need to do. As an empress is get her to the lead uncontested and then seems like horses just back off of her and she if she can get that breeder on the backstretch. I don't think anyone can run down. But so I'm playing a lot of horses in this race of my multi. But she is my top choice. Yeah I'M NOT GONNA leave her off. That's for sure. And there's there's just it's not a complicated ride with her. You said it you just get her to the front and you have to you because the two times in her best performances were. They haven't gotten into the front she quits. She has to be in front period. So I listen I magic and I talked about this race for like an hour today. We can see scenario because there's so much speed signed on we could see a scenario where okay the surrogate of Empress. She has no other choice. These other horses might. I mean these jockeys might overthinking bit and let her have that lead thinking she'll come back and she won't so okay so glad you say that because as I was handicapping really dove into it by first concern was speed deal but as you look at this other than cookie dough. Cookie does really the only one but I was like you know what she just doesn't have that front end speed to keep up with saying impacts other than cookie dough. There wasn't a horse in here. That just was clear as day has to get to the lead or nothing else. A Lotta these horses do possess speed but they also they're they're very typically going to be off the pace a little bit and I feel like you're going to have a bunch. I mean get Auburn and say what? Well we can't go out there saying because it's over if we do so there you go and you know all these sources are going to be waiting for her to come back and I just don't know she wouldn't I as I went through it. I'm like okay on paper and you look at numbers. Gather there but they don't have that kind of speed and the thing about it is a cookie dough. If she tries to go sir getting a press she will last six along so I just cannot see any way she's going to hang was there and getting in for so she's got to think try to take off take off for a bit and maybe some of the longer shots speed. We'll try to go up there and and mess with her. I can't live off because if she wins this race. Wire to wire. And I don't have ron ticket. I will want to jump headfirst off the house onto the ground so I was. I am not going to do that. Don't do that so CC. On top I have been getting I played and then I'm looking at two closers at double digit prices to come in as well and I don't want these two horses to beat me first of all come dancing. I is grazed over this. That's the worst morning line favorite in the history of morning line favorites. And that's not even talking about. Can't she win the race or not? I'm talking about the morning line specifically. There's no chance. That horse is the favored in this race. No chance but I went against her. Okay and I think she has a ton of talent and anybody. That knows me knows. I'd love to that horse. Win For d Wayne. Lukas get get the great one apple blossom that would be amazing but to turns for her. I don't like and I especially don't like an awful layoff so I think it's a really tough spot for but the two horses that I like at prices number five point of honor ten to one on the morning line. I'm telling you. They prepped her last time. In a little seven furlong race in. Tampa for this rails. She is a four year old Kurla. Megan second start a four year. Old Year I really think. The sources ready for an improved. I think might still be a tiny bit short for her but with the speed signed on. I think she can come get them. I love that. Dryden van Dyke jumps onto right to so I really liked the five the six street band. I go back to this horse all the time. This has helped me. Cash some supers and some tries where she's banged up there and got there and also boxer then the Castilian that day and she got up for the win and that helped as well. I think st gets a perfect setup. Here got a lot of pace to run out again and gets the dry track this time. I think it's going to be dry. The forecast says it's going to be dry. I think she hated the slop last time..

"Great day it is. You don't know which direction you look football's. They're flying flying. We've got Super Bowl. We got Santa Anita all of the sports and racing fan could desire. It's there today. We'll put it out on the station. All right. But before we get to the football game. Let's take a look at Santa Anita. You had a nice little winner there last week. We had a thirteen dollar winter. Actually, I guess it was we skipped last week two weeks ago. And that was such a good idea. We did it again back to back weekends thirteen dollar winners. And that's the beauty of horse racing five and a half to one Jimmy miss the other two. So that was minus a unit and a unit, but both weekends. We doubled our money thirteen dollars five and a half units. And today I like three horses to forest the fast and the nights races at Santa Anita. But oh, we better light a candle. We better cross our fingers track condition is that we have faith. At Santa Anita is going to say and fast for the third straight day. In the midst of a deluge think Sam, wow. We're getting our rain. So hopefully, they'll get a break at Santa Anita because you turn on the news last night. And it looked like you could swim and Santa Barbara Ryan Malibu canyon get out the rowboats instead of the cards. Yeah. Let's get the fans knew the fourth fifth and ninth racers. I have speed horses who could steal it. I call them props projection plays to proline not the letter. But the race. Let's go to the fourth rates comes up about first quarter of the Super Bowl about twelve thirty today. And in that fourth race, I've got a favorite the number two and UK. The chauffeur Dryden Van Dyke is probably the best young rider in America. Bob baffert. No question. The trainer high-percentage guy, and this horse can scoop the opening quarter faster than twenty two seconds. Get out there and steal the race up a big maiden win. So I've got a couple of second choices and the other races vote goes a favorite fourth racing. Sam's sanity to the number two horse, college and UK to steal the money. All right in the fifth race are going to go mile three year olds and eight to five favorite is Susan number seven bear harass will be aboard at eight to five. These are Phillies Phillies gone for a straight maiden person. Fifty five thousand. And you know, I've been thinking, hey for years and years. So are we call the props projection play? That's a one turn Horace going to turns a mile. That's a sprinter going around trying to find happiness over a longer distance and the number three horse horse called busy where to get get some Mary, oh, Gutierrez who went himself Kentucky Derby, he's scaling on horses just proved on turf that she can go a long distance. She has twenty one and three speed if Patrick casino. Do we can do it again. So with four links to spare on my projection figures, let's go to the fifth race five to two second choice morning line. The number two of our college, biz wax Sam. All right, biz wax. Mario Gutierrez by the two on the morning line listed HERE IS NUMBER three in the daily racing form and your last picket Sandinistas today. The last race another number three now in the ninth and final they're spreading short sprint of five and a half for logs. Once again speed could be if you want to a writer who loves the fried. It would be Edwin Mel DeNardo he'd never met a horse. He thinks he could put on the late in their sources and sprinting it lies now at a tremendous speed edge and the trainer Polly Gerry. He specializes layoff horses. He gets about forty percent of them home first or second one they've been away. So let's feel another race. Let's go to the speed and the ninth and final in the person of the three horse Laennec. Kate Lanta cakes wire-to-wire three to one second choice. And that's a threesome attorney Anita town all right yesterday. In Santa Anita Muccio Gustavo prevailed in the slop and. Metal grey had to come from off the pace. And so it favored Muccio Gustavo. What's the early buzz up in Vegas? Regards the three year olds. Well, often it's about Baffert. Don't trainer has really in history. The Jones is bad and Jimmy Jones had citation well away all of those. But now, it's a Mr. Bob Baffert winning. It seems to be almost every other year that horse she'll show about that sports. But here's one that we could talk about it's really fascinating fourteen to one on the future book last weekend down at Gulfstream. They had a whole bunch of championship races. Little maiden stepped out of the track called kitten. School like the Dead Sea scrolls. Stroll sets out on the track says, well, I think I'll try to turns for the first time by the time the race is over a jockey Joel Rosario, one of the best writers that America was twisted around in this ATL almost working backwards because he was trying to find a competitor. They were team lakes behind the clock. One thirty four and four for a mile that is fast as the mile feature race won by city of lights the nine million dollar Pegasus. Well, it was too turns versus one turn when a young hearts runs. One thirty four four wins fourteen and it is fourteen to one in the William Hill future books that would be a horse. I pass on to everybody listening. The great sports station can be our state for the San Francisco forty Niners. San Francisco Giants what a pleasure to be at a station of this caliber with you there. But I'd say. Fourteen late winter hippie scrolls might be my early choice for the Kentucky Derby all right now. Let's get into what's going on in the sport books. Betting wise in football. You know, they say there's a ton of money that on all the probable prop bets. You know, how long the national anthems gonna take? Who's gonna catch the most passes is element? And a catch him house and ado who's going to score the first touchdown. And of course, just a few years ago. The very first score the game was a safety, and can you imagine? And there was a feel golden. I think the score was five. So it's amazing. And just think today we could be talking about two different teams in regards to if the guy lines up. Out of the neutral zone against New England. And there's the interception counts and in the obvious. Penalty of all time, no call in and the New Orleans game. So that shows you the difference between winning and losing can be such a fine line really care and people are still talking about it. There's a great editorial cartoon in the Ray RJ, the local paper here it shows the asteroid the size of the football stadium. Crashing down just outside the gates the football station, and the announcer comes on. And he said everybody saw that asteroid crash, except of course for the NFL referees. All right. So we got New England. We got the veteran coach in the veteran quarterback. Ballot. Check and Brady both in the case of Brady. He's from San Mateo Sarah high school and was a Joe Montana fan. And then we got the youngsters. We got McVeigh the coach, and we got golf the quarterback, and he's from Marin Catholic, so you know, we got a lot of interest here going on in northern California for this big game. But it's definitely got a lot of excitement in regards to the Rams with the young coach young quarterback against the veteran Bela check and Brady and too bad. It's like those Super Bowl because the two are colorful team should have been there. A breeze the veteran leading passer in the league and Mahone through zero waiters sexist the three for Brady the ca- the wonder kid, they should be there. Now in this game. We're talking about the limits left the one that we sort of get saying because in such a match up the other way around if the ref hadn't and the player hadn't grew. Okay. I am the rushing, and I found that two teams even Iran the passing teams the young coach of the old coach. How do we get an answer that race or that game? And Sam I think all the telephone yesterday. You gave it to me who were those two powerful wineman that'll be suiting up not for New England. But for the last name just ram the strongest wineman in the NFL and the quickest fastest NFL Sam. The name of these two powerful defensive towers for the licentious. Rams. I well, that's they're gonna go shooting up the medal Brady stands in the metal. He's not a running quarterback. But he's he's awfully smart any off. So is very good. Obviously in the clutch three times. He was third and ten in overtime and got the first down. And it is also going to be a great trust chess match to figure out what kind of defense is Mr. ballot. Check gonna come up with and can New England. Foa a couple screen passes to help stymie the pass rush that they hope to get on the quarterback. He hasn't Brady has not been touched yet in two games of the playoffs. And at age forty one he said, let's keep it going. And by the way. In basketball. They could play every day and baseball they play every day in football. This is such a powerful emotional and physical game. They can play if they're lucky every week. So don't get to play seven games for the title. And if they did I think the score would be forty three with these two teams, you're almost flipping coins. But because of the defense because Goth match Brady on the season. I will go with the LA Rams as I fifty five to sixty percent choice. I liked to have eighty percent or seventy this is what we've got. So I'll probably be putting most of my money on three horses instead of two football teams. But it's the Super Bowl. Sam is spectacle, the two teams that shouldn't be there are there in a way we go. Now, I still two and a half as you are in Vegas this morning. Absolutely. The odds makers were geniuses. They opened at two and a half drifted to to some some places opened at two and a half. They stay there. Every once in a while blip. They go to three been back to two and a half fifty six and a half points for the over under two and a half. Seems the perfect thing for billions of dollars change hands with a few billionaires bathing a million on the game. It's America's ego trip Super Bowl. All right. You're going with the Rams I'm going with the patriots. I'll take all ma'am Brady. And Bella check. I believe that the Rams have to play a perfect game to beat the patriots. I think that Brady is determined after losing last year Super Bowl and after people saying things like, well, he's not what he used to be. He had something to prove along with his coach, you might say. Well, what is there for him to approve when he's going to the Super Bowl for the ninth? I'm this is amazing because Mr..

"You can get a decent number on him. Probably second choice. You wanna give Shogo look code of honor Cairo. Cat got some nice horses in there that they're not totally impossible. They're not. It's not like you're. Dealing with a precipitous drop off from speed figure standpoint from game winner and everyone else. But the thing that game winner has for him. He's seasoned already. He's run three times. He's run a different tracks on different distances and things of that nature. He's got Bob Baffert in his corner. And just know that he isn't needed, bring. He is not dependent on being in one spot. Now, find out again, the ship into Kentucky is different than shipping from San Diego to Arcadia. But with Baffert Churchill Downs, I don't think you really have a lot to be concerned about if you don't like the price, I respect that you wanna look elsewhere, but I don't think there's a heck of a lot of knockabout the horse himself thus far. He's done nothing wrong, and he deserved to be the favorite and the Breeders Cup juvenile, be very, very interested to see. Not necessarily who well, obviously it'd be interested who the alternates are prices and things like that, but maybe interesting how short a price is. Does he go off at even money? I can't imagine going off less than that three to five, four to five. I can't even money in at that point. If you love the horse, you look at even money and say that's value. Maybe not from an individual race standpoint where you look into bed amid evens, but perhaps he's the key in a pick four. Or pick five or whatever wages are going to be available on Friday game winner, very likely winner in a very likely favorites. He may be. Trying to think if this is a crazy thing to say, will he be the shortest priced favourite of the weekend. Off the top of my head thinking through looking at this little list I've put together, I'm going to say, yes, say that game winner will be the shortest price favourite. I don't think he's the most likely winner. I think newspaper of record of the weekend, but I would say that game winner is probably the shortest priced favourite of the entire Breeders Cup weekend. We'll find out flirt with that even money territory. We move onto Saturday now and we're gonna take a look at four races in particular from Saturday with four favorites that are likely to be favorites. And I think now it felt like with those two year olds, all three of them, they're pretty pretty stout really not a lot to knock about any of them. I think you can poke some holes. Basically each one of these four horses and about the layout there for you. We're going to kick things off with the Breeders Cup, dirt mile and a horse that I have been very, very high on from day one. He continues to plug along. He's a perfect four for four, and he has been very impressive. Basically four victories is Catalina cruiser for John Sadler Catalina cruiser. He's lightly, raced. And boy has he just sort of exploded onto the scene? Now, the concern here is it's been gone for a little while, but when we last song in the Pat O'Brien put on a show, here's the stretch run. Why? Still in the contest there at the top of the light. Now, Catalina crews still just being pushed along by writing Van Dyke, battle of midway trying hard to make of it, but Catta Lena cruiser really just a workout him today. Striding away, magnificent looking individual to Catalina Cruz and Dryden Van Dyke, AXA Lutely crews in the Pat O'Brien bedlam it way sake and Catalina cruiser is the kind of horse that if you look at them from strictly figure standpoint, he's run four times three times he's in triple digit, Beyer, speed figures, one, seven, one, seven one three. Most recently he's won. Two turns. He is one. He's wanted Anthony. He's one at Delmar. He's beaten, not great company, but solid company. And I think that's all to would boils down to the horse like this when they're so lightly raced. I think you need to make sort of a call on your own as handicapper. Are they going to be able to handle beating or running against better horses? It's one thing to be lightly, raced earned these giant gaudy figures x, y, and z. But if you're doing it against lesser horses to hell of a lot easier to do, can you do that against better horses in a race, like the dirt mile, you could possibly have a city of light. You could possibly have promises fulfilled. He could possibly have who knows a mind, your biscuits? I think he'll end up in the classic, but what I'm saying is going to be facing the best sources of his career by far end. He's going to be doing it off of a pretty significant layoff. We haven't seen him since the end of August and

"But I'm thinking most importantly, imperial hint, I'm not sure that he is capable of doing something like this against the likes of imperial hint as opposed to the likes of Catalina cruiser in like the dirt mile. Again, I think his speed here at seven eighths. I think that's one of those things to me. He's he's very much like his dad Shackelford. I thought that speed, it translated going longer distances, not shorter. One turn variety. Regardless of how you wanna look at him. He's blossomed into a very, very nice horse, and I turned into a giant fan of promises fulfilled. Very, very impressed. Seven trumpets ran really well. Roman says, may go to the Pennsylvania derby with him on September the twenty second forensic fire thought. This was a fine effort. I would like to see him go in the Kelso. Belmont Park one turn mile. We know he loves Belmont. We know he loves the one turn configuration. I would imagine eventually, Breeders Cup, dirt mile type, sincerely possible engage do under if he's better slightly shorter, and I appreciate that there were different tactics this time around. They wanted to stay close and not have to try to make some sort of a big close into that. Unfortunately, it just didn't work for him. He's tired at the end of it. I think he's probably better going slightly shorter and the rest of the field. I don't have a heck of a lot to to add. I mean, there were some other horses that were inside telekinesis, but the jury is out and how good he is. Probably I think wants to go longer than this mile sixteenth mile and an eighth gay do get back to the turf. This was a took a shot, didn't work. And then give me a minute in funny duck. There was a reason. The two longest shots in the board at fifty eight to one in seventy two one respectively. I have nothing but positive, say about promises fulfilled. I think the sky's the limit for this horse. He's in great hands with dill Romans. Another good ride from Louis is you know what? Forget it. I'm on the best horse coming. Catch me. You come and catch me. Not me catch you. I think promises field is really talented. They choose to go. I would like seem dirt mile that used to go to the sprint. I think he's an interesting sort of candidate in either spot promises fulfilled a ninety. Nine buyer, but a one thirty one time form US rating. And that's all say, I'll throw that out there. Perhaps these buyers are slightly on the low side and you're gonna wanna. Take note of that going forward. Is these horses continue to come out of it? Again, ninety nine buyer one thirty one for promises fulfilled winning this year's Allen jerkins last race. Full touch on his far as recaps are concerned here this week out of Delmore the great to Pat O'Brien, seven eighths of a mile of winning you're in for the Breeders Cup, dirt mile. This was the goal for Catalina cruiser. They thought about going to the Woodward next week up at Saratoga, but the gopher him is the dirt mile. This was a win in your in. They. Chose to stay home. This race looked like he was going to be very, very appealing on paper because you had ROY h, you had ransom the moon yet. Saint Joe pay, you name it. You also had the return a battle of midway. Long story, short, all those horses scratched except battle the midway. He was the one that stuck around this thing. Scratch down to feel the four. And you know what? When that happens and you allow horse talented, Catalina cruiser to get out there and set a moderate pace. He's gonna. He's gonna make you pay Trevor stretch one of this year's Pat O'Brien there at the top of the light. Now, Catalina crews still just being pushed along by Dryden Van Dyke battle of midway trying hard to make rice of it, but Catta Lena cruiser really just a workout fame him today, striding away MAG. Nevis looking individual to Catalina Cruz Dryden Van Dyke, AXA, Lutely crews in Pat O'Brien. Vattela midway, Catalina cruiser gets the job done..

"Formula's rating you're gonna wanna keep an eye on the runner up strike silver for Mark. Cassie looks like there's some serious ability there, and I'm also interested in third place. Finisher whiskey echo for Steve assume. Maybe he's one that you wanna throw in your dear. I force watch. Let's go out to the west coast. We'll check in down at del mar del mar thoroughbred club. One of the co headliners anyway on Saturday. Afternoon was the San Diego San Diego's local prep for the Pacific class. That will be run at the end of August mile and a quarter. We know what the situation is there. The problem with this race leading into it anyway. Trying to handicap. It was. It looked like there was a million different scenarios about who would run, who wouldn't run a lot of horses were considering going other places. And ultimately that's kind of what happened. But really the big story was the morning of the race. We found out that accelerate the likely heavy heavy favorite odds on was not going to run in this spot. And there was another horse in here owned by Ronin racing and trained by John Sadler curl rules who's also not going to go, which left the horse that I had brought up. And if you watch the preview addition, you can go back and listen to it. But I'd said the most interesting horse to me in this race even exceleron thought accelerate would be too much worse form. But even exceleron I said, I think you need to millions yourself with the name, the horse called Catalina cruiser. And ultimately, here's the field only five and went. But it was still a scenario. Look, the word was out a little bit this horse. He could be something, but what you've seen in those first two starts, he one on lead one just off of it. He looks like an absolute truck out on the race track. He's huge, but he is beautiful stride. The question was going to be now you're gonna face good horses. Now you're gonna go to turns for the first time, what kinda running style. You're going to have an until you go and do those things. There's no guarantee. I thought he could be a serious race source. I think he's a pretty serious Ray source. Here's Trevor Denman stretch run of this year, San Diego handicap crows Folarin and going on phone still Bain handwritten out here and it's Catalina Cruz. Opening up fall five, six year, pick your own number. Now, Tony, academic, Catalina cruiser and Dryden. Van Dyke Catalina crews will remind unbeaten and could not have been more impressive six to five on Catalina cruiser. He gets the job. Done in his first time in agreed sakes race, and first time going to turns for John Sadler and then Baffert rounds out your trifecta in second doctor door and third is dab Stor. Now let's talk about Catalina cruiser before we dive into dissecting the race's a whole. He's three for three lifetime over one hundred eighty three thousand earnings owned by rawness racing LLC trained by John Sadler bred by w s Farish in Kentucky ridden victory by drain Van Dyke and see the pedigree at the bottom of the horse Cardi's by union rags, out of a mine shaft mayor named Siegel one. Oh, seven, Beyer speed figure for Catalina cruiser one. Oh seven. His first time going to turn his first time against better horses. Now this is paired up one, seven because you're in one. Oh, seven. That's sprint race to starts back as well. And you can say what you want about the field that he faced. No, he didn't face celery and some of the other quality horses scratched out of this spot. Dr door may not be a superstar, but he's a good horse in Catalina crews are absolutely. Absolutely. In barris them one by almost seven links. The thing that I love the most about this and I realized he got in the weight in the entire field at one hundred fifteen pounds, realize the fractions weren't all that fast..
