"Why don't you say Wow? Where's weekly? Continue? Said this is Joan Jett. Right? That's that's who we got here. Oh, yeah. Alright. Alright Joan Jett. Back in the day when guitar hero was a thing, man. I would rock Joan Jett Power cord. Remember, Grammer, guitar hero? Yeah, I love that game. That was great. Don't know why, uh, that lost its popularity. I'm not a video game guy. I play zero video games outside of like the occasional like cell phone game. I, uh And I enjoyed that and it just went away. And it was very sad. Looks like you got plans tonight. Yeah, right. Welcome back into the program. 85561616 20 that is the accurate mortgage talk to text line. You can tweet into the program as well. At Matt Paulie on Air Network work continuing to preview the postseason, The Brewers are going to be a postseason club. They are. I think they're going to end up playing the winner of the N L E. I just I don't think there's a whole lot of drama left. I know there. It's not mathematically figured out, the Brewers could still possibly move into that overall number one spot, which is the way things have played out. It really feels like when the season over is over. The Brewers are going to have the second best record among divisional winners, and they're going to end up playing either the Atlanta Braves of the Philadelphia Phillies, probably the Atlanta Braves and got text message from Doug Say, Who would you rather play in the first playoff series? The Braves are the Phillies lineups are about the same, but the Braves have those two left hand starters. Or do you think it matters? I think Braves are a little more of a worry. I think the Phillies are a little more of a worry to be perfectly honest with you, Doug. The Braves left handed starter thing and we've talked about. They've been better here recently. By the way, the Brewers have faced some lefties and I've done an OK job with all Max Freed. Yes, that's he's He's legit. He's left handed. When Max freed starts if they play the Braves, which is the likely first round matchup. I will be concerned about how the Brewers perform in a game against Max free because he's left handed, But more importantly, he's really, really good, with all due respect to their other left hander Drew Smyly. Okay, Well, I'm not even I'm not even for sure that smiley would start like I get that he's a left hander. But I'm not. I'm not sure that he is one of their top three guys. He's nine and four or the 4.74 iara Ian Anderson, Charlie Morton. When Turkey to Santa's on he's better. The wild card and all that is Waske Noah, who was really good early in the season before he got injured. He got injured against the Brewers when he punched something in the dugout and he ended up coming out of that game. But I just I don't know if Drew Smyly starts a game, you know they got two left handers in their starting rotation. But It's Max Freed, and then it's everybody else. So I to me the Phillies. I don't I don't. I don't like that matchup against the Philly. I'm well aware I was there. I am well aware that the Brewers just took two out of three from Philadelphia. But you you got Bryce Harper in the middle of the line up, man. You got some really good pictures you got you got a guy like Zack Wheeler, who's already completely shut you down on a couple separate occasions. You look at what an Aaron Nola can do. I just that the Phillies scare me more. They just do. I think they've played a little bit better here recently as they've been trying to Fight their way back into things, and they have definitely put themselves in playoff contention both in terms of the division. They did take a hit. They took a hit when Zach Heflin is done for the season. Um, but, you know, Kyle Gibson did a really nice job. The fact that Gibson had that one. Yeah, it's struggled so much in the early going and then was able to lock in after that, and you look at his overall numbers this year. Um yeah, I just I think the starting pitching of, say Zack Wheeler and Aaron Nola and a Kyle Gibson. That for me is more concerning than what the Braves will send to the starting rotation, especially when you consider the Phillies lineup and trying to Deal with Bryce Harper over and over and over. He just It's just so tough to get past them. So that would be my thought on that. 85561616 28 5561616 20 that is the accident. Mortgage that talk and tax line You can tweet at me at Matt Paulie on Air M 80 t p A U l E Y on air. What do the Brewers do in terms of their pitching here down the stretch of the season? "Losing to the Braves starting pitching matchup in this one. Adrian Hauser on the mound for the crew. Drew Smyly going for Atlanta would be the Brewers, who would strike first in the bottom of the second inning. Avisail Garcia leave the inning off with a double A Travis Shaw ground out moves Garcia to third. And that brings up Louise Aureus. Now the pitch swinging a bullet hit after global Dansby Swanson in the left field on Gloria's will get the runner home sound. They score that one. I think it's gonna be in areas should have caught it. At least for now. That's being ruled a base hit. Although Dansby Swanson would commit an air later on in the inning, But the Brewers weren't able to take advantage of it. They get the one run on two hits. They strand two runners there in the second and say one. Nothing game going into the third. This was a neighboring houses would start to a run into a little bit of trouble. Very angry and so would lead the inning. Awful. They walked and Freddie Freeman with line out a wild pitch from Hauser would send Adrian's a two second. Then they walked to Marcela Zuna that puts runners on at 1st and 2nd. Ozzy al Bees, then lines out. But then Dansby Swanson walks so that loads the bases for Austin Reilly swinging a bouncer off of Hauser. Deflection. Maria's can't get it. One run is in house is going to come in. Ozuna scores to make it a 21 Atlanta lead It deflected off of Hauser. Horace was going over to get it and he might have had a chance to get it if it doesn't hit Hauser That would push wants into third than William Contreras is hit by a pitch so multiple walks a hit batter there in the inning. Hauser would get out of it with a strikeout to enter and see our days. The Braves leave him loaded. They put do put two runs across there in the third, and it is a 21 game. That would be it for

Glad you're along with us a big bottom of the first for the Braves, including an Ozzy Al. These two run homer, Drew Smyly, the Atlanta starter. Very good, very efficient. Was it a big news in the off season when the Phillies re sign Real Muto five years $115 million The guy just that Phillies fans were on pins and needles about what they'd be able to get him back because he takes low. Ball and a strike. It's not that they're better because they gotta back singing. It's just that they would have been noticeably noticeably worse without him in a huge Philadelphia sigh of relief when he signed Yeah, I mean you're talking about, you know the best catcher in the game. When you look at every aspect, 11 is low ball too. It is the most athletic catcher. This is a guy that They needed to mean He was a shortstop, quarterback, you know, in high school and Guys, The catcher is the most athletic back there. "Big hole open on the right side of the infield pitch. There's a shot toward left center field toward the gap that has really hit well chasing after it is Pilar. He won't catch up to it. It bounces up to the 3 99 shine. Racing around the third is Robertson. What a send him home and he will score all the way from first on a long double by Joey Barton. And the Giants have a to nothing lead. Gabbard 102 miles an hour off his bad it was great to see and there would be more to come for Joey Barton in this one. So the jacks have to nothing lead going to the sixth in the end, the sixth The Rockies gotta run against Drew Smyly, and it was the only run that Smiley would allow in five and a third innings. It was a walk to Pilar, who stole second. Story single into third and then he scored on a force out Ah, ground ball by Blackman. And that is how the Rockies got their first run. The Giantsbullpen took it from there. But in the seventh inning, there was more trouble. However, Garrett Hampson led off the inning against Harlan Garcia with a single. Now, Hampson is may be the fastest runner on the Rocky is one of the fastest Runners in the league, and he tried to stretch his single into a double, with the Giants infielder playing left field Daniel Robertson. Here's to one that is lined it a left field that's going to be a hit housing over to cut it off his Robertson Hampson is going to test him. Robertson. Here comes the throw. "This Saturday and I hope you're safe and sound wherever you are. Well, we thought we'd be having a game three of the Giants and Padre Siri's would have been a good game today, Kevin Gausman and lament for the Padres. But last night as you know, just before The Giants are ready to take the field against the Padres, Things came to a halt. There is a member of the Giants team that has tested positive. At least yesterday. Let's hope it may be a false positive, but it was a positive and the game was cancelled last night today is canceled. We haven't heard about tomorrow yet, but it is Everyone has said more than likely the game tomorrow will be canceled. And who knows when the Japs will be on the field again? So we're still here to talk baseball? We've got a good show for you. But ah Unfortunately, we don't have a game today. Giants are a hot team. They're playing great baseball and really looking forward to this Padre Siri's the first game of the Syriza Padres, they use the long ball. Not Trevor Cahill around. But Drew Smyly brought himself back on the major league level and had a terrific relief, adding, So that was good. But then we got the news last night about what was going on. So Glad to be with you today. Glad to be back after a couple of weeks of rehab for me. I'm glad to be back with you today. And, of course, joined by and I can't thank him enough. And I'm very happy to do these shows with Emma's well, and that is my dear friend. Bill Lasky. Bill, How are you today? Well, first off, Marty. Welcome back. I know Giant fans, including myself. Want to hear that voice and I'm very happy to hear you're back and I know giant fans. They're thrilled, too. And Looking forward to doing his pre game show with you. I know we got a great show ahead of us and just Ah, little worried. What's going down in San Diego? And you know, when the Giants left San Francisco playing real good baseball, they had a hiccup on Friday. I was looking forward to yesterday's game with Cueto and Richards, that and of course today. Would have been another good pitching matchup. But now we wait. Now we're on the stall factor. And when is there going to start again? And hopefully whoever has the Koven 19 is feeling better Private day and it hasn't spread and I think that's the number one concern. Yeah, Safety and getting everyone safe. Giants playing great baseball. They've got Ah, wildcard spot right now. But boy, these next 15 games they're going to be something to see how they're made up. And to watch the other division. So that is September baseball. So there's no one better to talk baseball with then the third base coach of the San Francisco Giants, the professor Ron Wotus. Time.

"All right, the big weekend is here for the Giants in San Diego last night doesn't go their way They lose 6 to 1, but a lot to talk about from that game. First of all the Padres second of all True, Smiley and third of all, we're gonna have to spend some time talking about Pablo Sandoval. It's a story that we've ignored Polly this morning. The end. Oh, Arabs all stuff to talk about with my crew co. On the Yuma Guest line on a Friday morning. Good morning, Mike. How are you? Group? Yeah. Good morning. A little disappointed by the game last night, but things are good. You know, they're confident. I knew it was gonna be easy. Go down to San Diego, but yeah. Doing good? Yeah. We'll just start with the game. You know Trevor Cahill on the mound in the first inning. Just, you know, Padres were seeing him. Modules are good. You know, it's funny. We talk about the giant scoring all these runs. Padres have scored more runs than the giant. So you just maybe start with your opinion, that lineup, they roll out there and how they attacked Cahill. Will they have a confident line up to? I mean, this is very similar to what You're watching with giants every night, you know? Plus, they've got You know, they've got really get speed. And ah, and speed I think is, um, is underrated doesn't get enough applause. Um, because it's a game changer. Defensively, this a very, very good team, especially the left side of the field. And, um and they're fast in the outfield as well. So I think that you know the Giants, you know, they match up that play well, and they have to have somebody on the mound that is going to basically be aggressive and take it to him. I thought the Cahill last night pitch very defensively because he knew getting into the game. He didn't have good stuff. And it was up. So you know when you don't have good stuff, you're not locating that well, and you don't have good finish your velocity. You're gonna have a rough night, especially to a confident offense and that's basically what happened every time he elevated. Got it. You know, you can look down this line up right now. And the Padres. They have chemistry going because you know you get guys like You know, I asked, you know, I mean, he's a guy that No. He's a lifetime to 52 months to get her to 90 nine's Reagan He's caught up in the energy in that clubhouse or not. That's what happens when you get when you get chemistry, and you know which I along with John Ryan believe in hardly nice, but they have it. You could feel you could feel it going in there. You could feel watched him take the field batting practice come up, feel better Practice. The Giants have to judge our a confident team, so I thought this was going to be a very interesting matchup. You just hate to see a team with the confidence of Giants had coming in a five game win streak Kind of get behind the eight ball early because the pitcher who started the game Turbo Kale just didn't have the last night. He put him in a 5 ft hole by the fourth and they never recovered. Yes. So it didn't happen last night. They go back at it tonight, by the way with Johnny Cueto on the hill for the against Garrett Richards. So, yes. So we know the Padres. The record is their titties. Junior, is there Ah, and then the giant's hand the ball to a guy who changed the narrative last night. Drew Smyly. Whoa. Eight strikeouts and we're talking about that great line of the Padres have well, it wasn't too. Wasn't too hard for Drew Smyly, eight strikeouts in four innings and I was kind of one. Your opinion of you know what was working for him and now more important, what's his role going forward? Well, they fix them number one when we saw him filled out there he was, You know, a guy who maybe break 90 once a while, but I'II these guy and basically trying to finish a with a curveball, both sides of the plate. And gave up a lot of home runs. You know, he just didn't have. You know, the beautiful thing about a big curveball is If you have a high release, you could pitch high with a fastball. From the hitting perspective. You're seeing the big high curve ball, come out of hand and crash across the plate. Then you throw that fastball the same plane as the curveball and you could live high, but You need velocity, and he just didn't have the kind of velocity and filled after that we saw since he's put on a giant uniforms, so they have fixed him. You know, And then he's rocket launch, right? If you think back about start that he had right before you went on the injured list. He was dealing and we're excited are like on you. Here we go. Then he gets hurt. Then the forefinger lights up, and he's got a gun there now they got a comment down. They've got to get him. Well, he comes out there last night. They said you'd be ready for 60 pitches and he was gonna pick Tell Kale Kale had some difficulties, which he did. And here he comes, and he comes in, and he's thrown 94 to 96 with some late finish, and he's making a noise in the glove. How empty stadium How hitting the glove and we could hear it in San Francisco. It was awesome. And then he's dropping this curveball from hell on him..

SF Giants Off to Successful Season Start

"It's a new world of Giants baseball. And frankly, it's been a very good week for the Giants and a continued last night as the Giants beat the Texas Rangers 7 to 3. It was a close game for a while. Look like it was going to be 4 to 2 of 5 to 2. And then the things happen a little bit later. And the Giants ended up winning the game 7 to 3 over the Texas Rangers for the Giants. After that, 1st 2 games down in L. A Things are much better for them. 43 runs scored for the Giants. They've given up 50 so they have a run differential of minus seven. But you start the season might is 15 after a couple of games and you see they have whittled that down. But for the Giants last night against Texas was men and boys, really the Texas pitching staff 11 walks And a hit batter for the Texas pitching staff. Last night, Jordan Lyles was all over the place and helped the Giants tremendously with all the walks that he gave up, and for the Giants, they took advantage of it, and it was really nice to see A ball club that is doing something offensively and To those of us who've watched Giants baseball for so long. You know, that offense has always been somewhat of a question for the Giants over these last 10 or 11 years of tremendous results with great pitching. But the offense has always been a question. Now. All of a sudden the offense is leading the way and the pitching is doing fine. You know, Drew Smyly last night. We'll talk about the game. But you, smiley I ended up going four innings than leaving the game with the discomfort of the index finger. So that means a trip to a Dr Scott Hampson. I'm sure and two of the hand therapists, Nancy And I know them both very well. And he's going for an M R I on that index finger, so ligament issue or something like that. But Smiley did go four innings last night for the Giants and continue that streak of no starting pitcher going five innings. For the Giants, and that's the longest streak in the history of Major league baseball. So today they look to Jeffs a margin to try to break that. See if he can give him five good innings today. But continuing with last night, 52 at our be eyes. For the Giants to out and they got the hit to drive in a run three for 10 with runners in scoring position,

"11 pitch Muncie this time another check swing. Did he go on DH and Bill? No. Close. Maybe the director for ESPN decides if he's calling baller striking. If he swings at it, I'll show the empire on That's a 1st 1 out months. He has been great in this series on he swings and fouls the cutter straight back out of play two and two. Onesie. Two home runs two doubles in the 1st 3 games. A lot of good, that's Tonight. Oh, for one. Smiley and Giants with a one Nothing lead. If they win, the Giants would somehow get out of L. A with a serious split. Smiley's gonna kick and throw over to first base again. He bets in his career 84% success rate when he does try to steal Tyler Heinemann throw a few times whether it's any exhibition games or Maybe once now in these first few games There goes bets, pitches swung on and dribbled foul. That's got a good jump. Well, he has a Rickey Henderson type lead. He's way off the bag. I guess you see that lead. You can see why Smiley keeps thrown over there. Sometimes just throw it over. There is your best defense against the guy's got good speed. Although there are some great based eaters, they take it as a challenge when you start doing that. That's hasn't had to go back on a dive yet. No The stone over there six times. There's no dirt that's unique. Count is two and two to Max Muncy rough holding bets on Pitches low could take by Muncie on a good curveball from Drew Smyly full count, 32 That's good 22 pitch, he had a chance to go out on strike zone. He would have none of it. He's one of the best of this Dodger team about discipline that going out of the strike zone reasons it so well. But now you've got to think that's has got another big lead. Over first. You got to think he's going here. He's going to And he's actually not going months. He swings and misses. Strike three. I'm shocked, too. So another good curveball from smiling at the 32 pitch. You can't throw better curb all that bad. I can't believe he struck out. Muncie is just such a great fastball hitter. It's not to say you can't hit a breaking ball. But we saw that Gausman fastball that he hit the defense the other night that I think the Giants Have decided as few fastballs they can throw to Max Muncy better. Here's Justin Turner, runner at first bets, two down first pitch curve with that's running, and no throw made by Heinemann. So Mookie Betts after all that Steal second base when he picked a good pitch to go on to big, slow curveball from smiling. The height of its credit Me. No catcher likes to go up. There have to eat a ball. But that ball. That bag was stolen easily by bets, and Heidemann opted wisely, not to throw things. Smiley was upset that the pitch wasn't called a strike. Look to be right in there ready to call a strike? I don't think he did. Right down the middle at the knees, maybe a little bit above the knees. Rob Drake blinked. There's one odor Turner runner in scoring position. Now Giants lead one. Nothing now a curve, and that one is low and call the ball too. A few of those in this serious look umpiring. No, nobody's going to be perfect, and I'm not. I'm not saying the umpires have done a bad job, but it stands out when their pitches there right in the strike zone that get called balls. I'm not gonna get on the first week and maybe that's the same thing for them as it is for the players. You know? There's a curve. That one's called Ball three. But after the first week Open season. So tonight's the last night way defining a week like Monday.

"Night baseball. The Giants once again on ESPN, and they'll take on the Dodgers here in Game four of this four game. Siri's and Dodgers leave this series two games to one. But the Giants yesterday got a much needed when they really had a much needed win. It wasn't simple, but there are a lot of parts of the game yesterday that I thought were very positive for the Giants. And some other things first. They won the game 54 and they held on Trevor got got to save Kayla. Barbaric. Gar got the win, and it didn't matter who was coming up when Barry Gar came in the game. This young lefty with the high rising fastball. The key for him is to get the ball in the top part of the strike zone, and he did it and he went through a very, very tough part of the Dodger lineup. So with God and Barrenger. We had some some good innings in there. Tony Watson still working back into form the way it looks to me. Solano made an error and Watson gave up a big hit. And all of a sudden it was 5 to 3. Will Smith at the home run off, got to start off the night. Minnie and Trevor got three balls in the air. But luckily they stayed in the park, and they did not go within the cutouts and the in the outfield or the virtual people that Fox put on the screen yesterday. That was weird, and the Giants hung on to win the game five for a much needed win. So today it is Drew Smyly on the hill. Of course, the Giants don't let anyone know that. But just a few hours ago, they texted that out and carry Crowley I think was the first to report it online. That the lefty drew Smyly, who gave them an inning earlier in the Siri's and look very good at it gets to start today for the San Francisco Giants, so he will go against Julio Aureus. And why this guy seems like he's been around for 10 years. Already. He's only 23. This is only his 29th major league start for the left hander is 64th game. The Giants have seen quite a bit last year 14 and 2/3 innings, 11 hits. Couple of runs, no homers, five walks and 19 strikeouts, so he's pitch well against the Giants. In that really limited action left. He's 1 98 righties to await. Now for Drew Smyly, 31 years old, 35 30 for a lifetime for juice. Smiley. This is start number 107 in his career, and he's been in 183 major league games, and he's got a lifetime whip. That's putting runners on base of 1.26 aureus is 1.8 from last year now. Lefty's right, E. It doesn't really matter to Smiley. But he does give up the homerun ball, and I know last year, coming back from injuries and being in Texas, and then all of a sudden being in Philadelphia. He gave up a lot of home runs. And that is one thing, but he's gonna have to be careful of today. So that's a setup. For today. It is Drew Smyly. Julio aureus and a whole host of bullpen people after that, but just finishing up yesterday's game, So I said it was a very big win for the Giants there, one and two. Now it is only a 16 game season. As Carrie Crowley pointed out, and we talked about it yesterday. It would be nice to get home and sort of play the teams that maybe there on a little more equal basis. Then the Dodgers who are really a strong team. But I will tell you this the right handed lineup of the Giants and we said this on the pregame show yesterday really shows some promise of doing some damage. Now Longoria is out. The earliest. We're going to see him probably is next Thursday. The Giants need Longoria back. They need belt back then a Crawford to be settled at shortstop, and they need to come up with a second basemen that they have confidence in. They put Wilmer Flores now it's second. He's not going to be 1/3 anymore, but floors. This throws the first base remind me of the old Chuck Na blocker Steve Sax, who couldn't get the ball over the first base, and he had a couple of those yesterday. So Flores, who knows where his ultimate position is going to be, But the Giants need Longoria back. They need belt back. They need a good defense back, but that right handed lineup. Leading off yesterday was Slater with three walks. This is Slater's year. This is his chance, and then he made a great catch and bang that hip in the wall and, of course, luckily was not more further injured than that. Looks like he is not going to play maybe day today, but it looks like he's out for a bit Solano a good double for him. These are the right handed hitters. Flores Ah, homerun roughen R B I single Pence got hit by a pitch. Hopefully he's OK. And then Jalen Davis, another line drive, hit to right field of somehow he can learn out of pull the ball. This guy has legitimate legitimate power. Barry Gar got on Logan Web gave him therefore dings yesterday, So I said it yesterday. I'll say it again, and Gausman said it after the game. You know, you want to know when you're going to pitch in. If you're a starter, you're a starter and don't throw me in the middle of the game for two innings and then make me start next week and this and that, And I think it's some point. The Giants have to come to grips with that and get a good rotation going. No, Jeff so, Margie today And Carrie Crowley or join us a little bit later, but we'll ask him where you think we'll see some Marja. He could pitch Tuesday against the Padres and then Sunday against the Rangers. At Oracle Park Giants come home on Tuesday to start the homestand. All right, so that's a setup for today. It is ESPN Sunday night baseball. Hopefully, they'll give him a good broadcast tonight. Boy wasn't very good on opening night. But I will tell you this with Dave and John and today Mike in the booth. It is a pleasure. Pleasure to listen to them. Call a game and they're going to have so much fun this week when the Giants are off the road. And back at the ballpark that they can call a game that they can see. And, uh, if you follow that broadcast, I know it's not has not been easy for them. But what a pleasure to have Dwayne in there as well. So good night. Good baseball coming up and we'll see what happens. It's another story today. See if the Giants in square this Siri's to two and the head home on Tuesday, splitting these Siri's with the Dodgers, so we'll see what happens. Drew Smyly and a host of others against Julio Aureus and a host of others as well more coming up, the professor will join us next. Ron Wotus, the third base coach of the Giants, right here.

"Spring training and it stops then you're off for a few months and then you gotta kick it back up again in July and go into an uncertain situation that may or may not work. Have you been able to see yourself in that? Or is that something you just can't even can't even think about doing. Well, try to think about it. You know, now that we're starting things back up is like being an analyst and doing these shows whatnot, but it's been really hard. You know, I just It's unprecedented. I mean, I guess. The closest I can come to being in that situation, and it's really not even close was back in the strike here in 1990 for where I was in the minor leagues, But you know the season you guys were in spring training replacement players are in spring training, and I was invited The Bigley camped a year, so it's kind of stuck in that. Um, that lay off, But, you know, just trying to get myself mentally and physically prepared for whenever the season may start again and then listening, Tio Ah, you know, the players talking their conference calls about you know who knows when we're going to come back so that that that that like That limbo feeling that you do have mentally It's tough because Yet. You don't know when it's going to start. So you don't know like how hard you could go at it. You don't know you know, preparation wise what to do, and I can't even imagine doing that. When you have families or not being able to go some place to work out, get prepared. You know, you talk. You hear about guys? How they get had to get creative. The bonds, you know, hitting off of his balcony into a net yet Pence's wife, setting up a batting cage in the backyard. Our own BP kill him. I mean, yeah. They really get creative. You know the guys. That's the last four months so Give just to be prepared enough. It toe play a season, even if it's 60 games. I don't know. I mean, it's tough to ramp things back up that fast again and and not Worry about getting hurt on DH. Now in top of that, you know you didn't try not to get sick. You trying to do everything in your power not to be someone that gets sick, bringing into a club history. You can keep everybody else safe, so and then you're wearing masks. I don't know, man. I If they can pull this off. I commend everyone of those guys because you all have to be on the same page. You can't let your guard down. You can't get comfortable. You can't get in that clubhouse atmosphere, what you tend to do and get a little bit comfortable, and then all of a sudden, especially off the field. You have to be able to you talk about execute on the field. These guys we're gonna have to execute their game plan's off the field now. I mean, you have to really be strategic about how you go about your day today. Just so you don't Slip up and You know and infect the whole clubhouse. So I said, a little skeptical to think that they can get through a whole season without anybody being infected, but Um, but I don't know. I think that's where leadership comes into play guys in the clubhouse, making sure the players for that matter, making sure that Everybody's on the same page, making sure that guy's understanding they could affect families and extended families if if they do slip up. So I said, I try to wrap my head around it and put myself in their shoes. But I really I really don't even know I don't know how they how they how you go about it. You know, on a positive note on the whole virus thing I saw Bob Nightengale tweeted out that you know, the Players Association in the league both jointly announced that they did 10,548 tests last week. And there were only six positive so 0.5%. So if I was those five players in one staff member that tested positive there were five days in which there were no new positives reported so that it's viewed kind of this as an encouraging sign. What do you think of a giant rotation? And it's an interesting group. I mean, you got Cueto coming back. And who knows what he's going to be a mean 1 18? Not that long ago when he was right. You got some marja potentially going to be dealt middle of the year for pitches. Okay, you get Drew Smyly who have heard good things about Gausman the same and you got some other guys in the mix as well. How do you see the rotation this year? Where I'd like to say that those four guys you've mentioned you run those guys out there every day for four days and then obviously the guy's a question, Mark. I don't think we're going to see that for a while. I think we're going to see piggyback starts. I think honesty openers. Ah, it's I've already heard Kappler talk about, you know, So Marge, I want to get ready to throw 85 pitches to start here and in cap came out and said, I think he should just be rated pitched three innings in his first start, so it is, you know, they're definitely they need to get on the same page in that regard, but I don't think for a few weeks we're going to see a starter, you know, be able to go out there and throw 8500 pitches in the game. So what? What is that rotation look like, right? I mean, those four guys. I like. I like a lie. I liked what I saw, smiling Gausman. It is, you know, In a spring train that we already did have. I really liked what? I saw those guys and then obviously Cueto coming off Tommy gone and into Marjah. So I like I like those four guys. I think that they could build will definitely be able to keep you in games. I just think with this with this 60 game season, we're going to see things we've never seen before. You're going. You're going to see Farr on and Harrison and capped it together. And they're going to try to outsmart the competition. I don't know if that's going to translate into wins, but they're three pretty smart guys, and they definitely are very progressive and the way they think Obviously an elixir. Goingto come into play pretty heavily this year as Faras lineups are constructed in platoon situations and try and exploit those matchups, But I would look With that road patient. I don't think you're going to see one through five, maybe one through or forget. Three weeks, four weeks into the season. It's getting there get it's going. It's going to look a lot different. But I do like the four guys. You mentioned a lot, and I think that they can Taken. Definitely They could definitely keep your team in the game. So let me ask you this. I don't want to hear about baseball. I want to hear about number four yesterday for you. Number four You said hold number four. I said hold Number four is not like Oh, yeah. Golf? Yeah. Yeah, it was. It was a par five. Uh, it was a par five. I hit my 1st 2 out of balance. Um, So now now, the third shot If you're doing the math, I'm hitting five off. Yes,.

"During the spring during Cactus League play. Those pictures started to answer those questions. They talked a lot about The work of Giants pitching coaches Andrew Bailey and Brian Bannister made an impact on how they perceive the game. How they approach hitters. How they look to maximize their strengths, and that's why you saw Kevin Gausman's start to throw that fast ball up in the strike zone. That's why you saw Drew Smyly start to throw that cut fast Ball glove side. Why you're seeing them. Use their breaking balls not to throw pictures below the strike zone, the fool hitters but to throw pictures inside the strike zone. Something that Even for major league pitchers could be a struggle with off speed pitches, and especially when you get further down in the rotation and deeper into a bullpen. No. The frontline starters. The number one's the number. Twos can usually throw all their pitches for strikes and to do so effectively, But it's the 34 or five guys in your rotation, who probably got one or two pictures. They could land in the strike zone 1.5 consistently, but they could get that third pitch and start throwing him for strikes like Kevin Gausman was able to do with his slider on Wednesday. That's a really, really good sign. It's an encouraging sign. There are a lot more pictures to get Teo. Who stood out to me on Wednesday. I'll talk about kind of the bullpen circus the Giants have going on where really only one or two pictures. Have secured spot locked up jobs. In a bullpen that Could feature some really interesting names during the 2020 60 game abbreviated season. Be fascinating to see how Gabe Catheter deploys those pictures this year, But when we come back, we'll talk about the position player side and why all of a sudden, there are a few lingering concerns. For a team that well, the biggest question mark. Is, will it hit enough to stay relevant? You've seen the first half of that giant schedule. It's a gauntlet 10 32 against the Dodgers. They play the Astros. They play the Angels. There's been some tough conversations to have about these hitters and who's playing every day who's playing part time? We'll get to that shortly. It is really fun to talk baseball again. It's really fun to talking concrete terms about what is happening on the diamond at Oracle Park. F. C. championship game in the Superbowl last year it told my a you know it just back off the predictions that's the industry talk I'm probably came from Nancy to say that because I know it's such a great great guy gentleman but I just think Nance was getting a little bit overlong you know he was Rommel was going outside of the play but the outside of the color analyst role and kind of usurping a little bit of the play by play a role and I I wouldn't put it past the you know I I think I think dances an awesome talent but I also think he's a true gentleman I think he's the true nice guy that you hear when he's out with Murph and mac and I think he would new Tony was feeling his way in and gave him a wide berth but after the first year I think they want to try to get that little bit more in line with everybody else I think may I think Roemer's good guys I just don't think he's great I don't think he's better than columns worth or any of the the other top guys I think he's on par with them I wouldn't put him above them stay away from this guy I'll give what I heard yeah I don't know I like a one of my favorites of all time was met melon because he was kinda like me he do the games with a laugh and have fun and Davy dist it wasn't just nuts and bolts I know a lot of people didn't like Matt Millen I had arguments with people that like Phil Simms I was my mailing guy there Phil Simms guys were you know you'd like Phil Simms is that do layers just talking about low while ago man's who relinquish here buddy editing that I'd like it at all but you don't know what the last game we did was I believe it was Pittsburgh Miami throws a wild card game a divisional game number one Miami best run was good got to play up a couple years ago Phil Simms is that it is best you could clearly hear and sometimes see did NASA lie now I'm not dealt with this at all at all makes the you know Tony Romo shows and did something that was different but people acted like he's like the smartest football guy of all time because if you want any I did seem like small I mean listen I like predicting alright was calls were too but it was a long time since Chris Collinsworth played football and even played the type of football that we're seeing right now tell me Tony Romo had that advantage and like you said Tom you know just getting out of the game and to be able to present in his condo Gee aw shucks manner you know a game that can be overly complicated by the industry itself but to be able to present that to people and say Hey look for this play when this guy moved here look for this play people really vied with that and you know who did that very very well the greatest of them all John Madden you know he was able to be like Hey when you see this guy here this is going to happen people like that kind of information right now so while he was in this is what he wasn't reinventing Tony Romo the wheel at all he was providing something that was not seen in other color analyst in you know in in for broadcast which is kind of telling people when this player moves in motion you're going to see this type of play it makes you seem smart even if it's not that big of a deal because you just got out of the game yeah I did it it's funny you say that because for whatever reason I didn't get that with mad I didn't get like that I learned anything with Madden I just got I had a good time with that was the hose the hard hard hard alright alright alright I will draw this let me up in Falluja medicine go down but if you did they keep his his personality in the fact that he was having such a good time where you could feel that you have a good time then he would explain something you know kind of football esoteric to you and you feel like you were getting a football lecture you were getting in from your all goals have a good time watching a game with you on a Sunday yeah I I just I almost felt like world watch Matt is a now I hear you got a first down because he got a first down he stretched out he got first Downey I got it was it was like okay yeah I saw that he got the first down like a big out of bounds thank you Kelly and like my friend you Sicko done mad the master of the obvious like he does tell you stuff that was that was obvious I thought it was better than that but I love mad I loved watching him because it was just fun him and some are all were fun and did some of the other people may disagree with me on this I wanna have fun when I'm watching the game sure and those guys were fun they gauges a baby I dug them exame reason I dug melon he was fun yeah he had it beat he had a good time up there explain the game enough now if you don't know the game now much maybe they're not for you if you want to know what's going on I felt like for the most part at a good grass always going on a white team to do what they were going to do suddenly did that in the that explain to me I just wanted to laugh a little bit have a good time and I thought I thought Madden of was that guy I mean he came out of the perfect time he was the every man made more than players eight million a year fox gave him and now guys don't even known as a broadcaster coaches Madden football video gaming that's very nice that's were made as big only killed it he held the salute and there was the video game was awesome still is is announcing awesome in ages in heaven summer which is god they were like the best summer always just right down the line he just called it needed me when get excited the voice didn't get bigger it was just the this is a play is it thirteen fifteen or is it the second one you wouldn't know it just he was he didn't escalate a Keating go up for big plays a little bit sometimes but Madden comes like already using the idea with the million every area and that is I love that I love and I just have a good time to show me you want to be there in Rome does that Romo is excited about being there and I'm like you know what if he's excited about being there I'm kind of excited to watch his game is kind of fun to watch that that that's that's my biggest takeaway from Russian I shot out two of my favorites and I know one day I'm going to mention is definitely one of our I an eagle and Dan Fouts yes to my favorites yes they they they you know Dan Fouts is a little understated he's not excitable but you could tell that both of those guys like each other they like the game they have a sense of humor I'm in eagle is one of the best play by play guys out their base but baseball basketball football he's so good civil and Dan Fouts is one of the greats of all time that's a really good broadcast do unlike the when it when I know those guys are doing a game I'm watching I'm like cool man I had a and I'm I really don't care about play by play guy and and color guys but when I get cat said I'd like he might be a good day and would lose a lot of the as as a dancer my for players to this I love watching them but I mean I didn't know he loved I am eagles what's the dead but eight how told us why I knew right away he was a six six guys was one of those moments of the year of the show you might say some valid like I like you more because of that and like I am more because that's what I knew we had a good thing going I was really early when we started this you know maybe like maybe a month a little bit less than what we started this it would ban fights go on is a better we all just looked at each other just busted up laughing I'm like yeah I think we're I think it's my only thing I'll say about that then it's like okay Tim Ryan can do every bit of that every bit that roam all that information that Romo gives you pre snap when he's caught when they when he's really doing play ahead of play Tim Ryan can do all that but in in there and and I'm I'm not just saying Tim Tim is a former player there are many many former players that could gas along by formation and if they do that if they if they if they study hard enough Monday through Saturday they can get on the on the television on Sunday and literally do what Romo Dez but Nance is the only play by play guy who who is basically giving him the wide berth to do it so that's the only thing I dislike is that people act like Tony Romo is the only football person who can look at as a down distance in a formation and coverage and a pre snap look and make a real educated guess on what's coming next what we can do it and others can do it or disagree please I guess and he knows what he's doing he does he knows what he's talking about well hold others are saying Sir but isn't it yes well it's an educated guess because it hasn't happened yet that's what I'm saying this is for he's predicted to predict what you want to call a production production it's just like this what's going to happen then it happened it happened yeah but my point is that other football people can do that it just happened because they're staying in their lane and it and I just all the credit that he gets like he's like he's.

"Strike pitch my driving the right center field that's going to be in their basic and it goes right by Slater coming in the store is her name is and the second Hayes we will stop there I think Slater got fooled by that ball he looked like he was going to be able to cut it off and the dish right by I think that surprised him well it was not a clean defensive ending for the giants but that didn't cost him anything PT only gave up those two in the fourth inning was to nothing Philadelphia on the fifth of the Phillies added on Bryce Harper drew a one out walk he walks three times in this game add in Exeter was the northern California native Reese Hoskins now BT on top delivers there's a high drive in the deep center field way back still going yeah it is for nothing yeah that would hurt the gentran hang around but the big fly Hoskins twenty third of the year mated for nothing it again drew Smyly was just great will make him our coop of value player of the game the cloud platform for business spend management trusted by the most successful companies in the world to help them spend smarter every day find out more Cooper dot com J. it's been hitting left handers soul hard for about a month and nothing against drew Smyly tonight seven shutout innings when the bullpen took over though the game changed Nick prevented took over the eighth inning face Brandon Crawford hit one of the wall in left it was caught for out number one and the players coaches and branded belt to the plate as a pinch hitter bell hits a high.

"Mortgage experience despite would peak McCarty opined any update Phillies looking good number on on maroon uniforms at no all I don't believe in that case at least the scoreboard is telling a specific tell library has their own sartorial tastes but it just doesn't look like the Phillies day last war this uniform forty years ago a maroon on maroon and Greg was in ski you threaten the owner that he would not ever play any Philly uniform again if they ever tried to trade at possum out there looking like a great well grape is not working here in the new millennium either getting crushed by the Braves fourteen to one moving to the top of the sixth inning that started Jack Appling got pounded ranger Suarez came in relief and he got smacked around not good Phillies were hoping to cut into the Braves lead in is three games that this weekend in Philadelphia got beat last night and getting beat down today by the Atlanta Braves sell as we get that much closer to the trade deadline the Phillies I thought we're going to be a buyer I thought that that they were going to make a play to upgrade that their team much like a lot of teams in baseball their biggest need is starting pitching now they did get one off the scrap heap last week drew Smyly who was a guy who when he was released by the Texas Rangers earlier this year I thought the Philly should have big time interest in he ended up signing with more with Milwaukee he paid for the brewers in three minor league games and he had to happen out his contract because he opted out and the Phillies did side him in game a major league deal on bottom immediately and here to Philadelphia and last weekend he do a pretty good game form now it's kind of funky just we could to police they were off Monday and Thursday they had two days off during the week so where I smiley isn't going to pay toward them and then they're off again this upcoming Monday so they actually in a eight day period up three days off in the middle of the season that almost never happens so much so it ends up smiley pitches on Sunday and it doesn't pay to get until the following Tuesday because they've got all these days off drew Smyly tonight picture and I think he was a good addition any patch well any sports game the Phillies didn't get a win but he only got one run in six innings and the Phillies ended up winning the game two to one in extra innings but he's not good enough they need another started their starting staff would just not good enough to get Gary got smacked around last night apple got smacked around tonight Vince Alaska is isn't good enough they got every nolo who is a legit ace and he could try can ace a sigh young candidate last year got off to a little bit of a slow start this season but of late has once again returned to ace like form but they got mediocre starting pitching that's not good enough to make the playoffs so I thought they were going to be a player on one or all of the starting pitchers who were on the open market in being shopped around if they lose tonight they fall seven and a half games behind the Braves they fall in the wild card race we've got a couple of days until the trade deadline the Phillies just might buy themselves out of S. buyer status because both their genom engineer president have been quoted over the past seven days make failed their president said that they are not one player away from their ultimate goal which is winning the World Series I read into that just making the wild card isn't something that we're going to be willing to put up signifying in prospect to try and get our hands on that's not a good sign where are they in the wild card as of right now and again we know we're going to and a loss on them because they're not rattling from down fourteen one against Braves cubs are gay after came up in the wild card nationals are holding down the second spot the Phillies are just a half game but far behind so they'll fall to a game back brewers could jump them into standing for the brewers door brewers are actually losing to second beat by the white Sox in an interleague game so yes at the the fact that no one can separate in the wildcard race internationally gonna keeping teams it like the giants at two games back there still in it the D. backs I think want to be a seller David certainly let it be known there listening to offers on Robbie ray I think they'd listen to offers on Zach warranty who's got two years and the rest of that year's salary which is thirty million whatever portion you have to pay a two thirds and in another sixty five million on top of that for the next two years I thank the D. backs would be willing to give a grantee up despite the fact he's still one of the best pitchers in baseball but they could clear and check the stock million off their salary cap for the next two years they're gonna want decent return on a deal but it wouldn't be an outrageously high return because yes they are clear and lots of money out even though I think green tea is painting like that thirty million dollar picture he's not a blatant all were painted your jets you made a massive mistake in signing him and you need to get out from under I don't think they would need to add depending on the team they're trading him too the more the day would stand with him as far as money goes to coverage salary the higher prospects they would get in return should they even be having this conversation at two am games out of the wild card should they be looking to sell should be a day you looking to take pieces off the top they got a guy like David Peralta who you can look at as an actor outfielder because they've got dice in they've got more day they've got Adam Jones they got look Castro they're playing a little bit out there he just came back did Peralta from an injury a stint on the injured list second times gone down with a blocking shoulder but if they made him available teams it needed now filled another left in a bad might be interested in touching base with the Diamondbacks but by the standings there in the mix yes the Rockies a falling out yes I don't think the matter said forty eight and fifty five and six and a half games back are actually in it the Padres to breads the pirates Tomorrowland you got a bunch of teams that have fallen by the wayside but still you got two wild card spots clubs national Phillies breweries giant diamond backs that six teams only two could make it poor aren't gonna make it what are those other four teams going to do thanks still to be determined so I mentioned this earlier in the show I saw at least one M. L. B. insider it might have been Kenny Rosenthal earlier yesterday on Twitter suggesting that it's going to go right down to the deadline the teams aren't going to actually get deals done make deals until either Tuesday or Wednesday Tuesday thirtieth Wednesday or its thirty first which remember trade deadline is four PM eastern it's not midnight to thirty first eight four PM eastern on the thirty first so you gotta get the wheel rolling the day before if it's gonna take negotiations and haggling right down to the end you got to get the deal done before four PM eastern time so one o'clock for those of you out there on the west coast you know you got to get a deal done that morning can't wait until the afternoon can't wait until that night got to make that decision before the games get underway on that Wednesday add to this point it is been talk talk talk talk talk talk talk and I've given you the rumors that I've read in the information that I believe I don't know if anything's going to get done baseball made the decision this offseason to do away with the August trading period the rules of baseball been this way for a long time but after July thirty first you could still make a deal in August but a player had a past waivers anytime you put a guy up waivers another team can claim ma'am if they do then if you don't call them back that team is responsible for taking they don't have to give me anything they just have to pay the waiver claim which I think is twenty five thousand dollars which is a drop in the bucket in Major League Baseball but they get the player for nothing except the waiver claim but they're obligated for his contract dress the way so if someone has a contract that is deemed over expensive but he made a mistake in game too much money teams are reticent to put claims it and then you can actually claim a player if you claim a player and the other team let him go you short you can't just say no never mind if he does clear waivers Danny can be traded and in a trade package and guys got a big salary eighteen can include some money to pay part of his salary which would be an inducement for the team to take on that player and then maybe give you something in return a player of significance certainly more than twenty five thousand dollars the reason a baseball did away with the August trading curry date thought too many teams didn't make trades in the July trading period because they're afraid they'd still be able to do it in the August trading so I took the emphasis off the first trade deadline that they had Major League Baseball once only attention they want people pay an antenna want social media attention they want everyone talking about baseball and they thought they could enhance it on July thirty birds by doing away with August well the teams haven't budged to teams have moved the teams haven't changed their standard operating procedure they're waiting and waiting and waiting and we'll see if push comes the job on the thirtieth and thirty first but if you ask me it's been a boring trading period to this point and whatever baseballs Despina seems plan it was to choose the trading deadline to this point it hasn't worked give me dot on your team would you want to see him do what you think they're going to get done over the next three days before the trade deadline actually hits Wednesday at four o'clock eastern hit me up at eight five five two one two four two two seven come back and give me my daughter again on the giants in their wide receiver position I got issues I got a couple injuries and as of today they have a suspended wide receiver golden Tate put out a statement about his appeal on his four game suspension for the giants this upcoming year I want to get your take on it because golden Tate and the giants believe that he's got a chance to get some relief from the suspension finally I don't my E. remembrances of the National Football League and how they handle substance abuse violations is a little different than what golden Tate is say I give you golden Tate statement I want to get your take on if you think he's got a chance to get the suspension either wiped away all are potentially reduced hit me up at eight five five two one two four two two seven judge Mack wide open phone quite a forty five minutes will baseball or football get on my telephone lines in general I'm a win win guy when I have to spend hours searching for the right part it's lose lose.
