"Matter of fact so mr baker after i got in make the process even little tougher that's awesome. That's so good that the video is great. Drew obviously loved seeing. You get the moment him cooler. I i liked you know personally as a fan getting to watch people you know get surprised in different situations as opposed to the stereotypical hotel room and the challenges of the last year at least provided that that cool. Bit of unique twist Obviously daban jerry jones or both there for you in that particular moment. If you could have had another cowboys player figure who who would you have wanted to have been there to a third member of the cowboys specifically be there with you and your moment dead or alive either way. You're the hall of famer coach. Landry i have to take to coach landry and harvey martin. You know. those are the two that i miss the most such pharma. Cow and bob as well You know another guys You know but harvey party. Martin was my roommate or eleven seasons. We came into the league together. We retired at the same time. Same thing with billy joe dupree. We came into the same year. We retired the same year. We call ourselves a decade. Plus one boys gus. We played eleven seasons But coach landry man if it wasn't for his system dependent on character Intelligence passion and then made some talent Had other three eight and some talent you can. He could coach you up to be a good football player. And he took me as an undrafted free agent. Coach me up to be hala claimer you now. So they'll definitely those two guys would add a something else to it but the fact that went down the way it did offer respect to the other guys. I watched that show last night. And how the other guys got their your message but all the respected the other guys. But i think my deal.

"Martin certainly seems like he's on the way to the hall of fame that would give the cowboys to two more. At least i didn't chuck howley deserves to get in and that would give a cowboys. Another fifty four along with randy white. So i've always wanted to ask you something kind of switching gears here you've got your super bowl ring on. I mentioned before we started recording that we've met before when i was a freshman in college i went to the last game at texas stadium. The cowboys play the baltimore. Ravens you did an autograph signing and a lot of fun made a lot of great memories for me and my family and you let you know each of us where you're super bowl ring and for everything i've seen you. You let fans do that and obviously we live in different times right now but not. Everybody is like that. Not everybody i would imagine is so willing to share their super bowl and it obviously means a lot to you. What is it about you that that kind of made you start doing that did. Did you see somebody do that. Way back when and say. I like this or did it. Just come to you because it does create a really powerful memory for a cowboys fan. I'm wearing drew. Pearson's ring i mean. Think about how many people all over the world have that photo framed in their homes. You know what i mean. Yeah you know you know my thing. Is i appreciate the fans so much you know and Know i think it would. Mother teresa said nobody will remember what you said. Nobody remember what you did. But they'll always remember how you made them feel and i always want to make them feel when they meet drew peterson. If they're taking the time to meet me in saying that makes my day my dad you know look you and i grew up a under his wing and now i'm a big fan and i know all about you because you know i kind of storage ahead here You know you just want to Make their moment special and nothing more special than giving them the opportunity but that ring on and after a while. Rj just became my thing. You know. I just started doing in some sometimes people come up to million say can i put the ring on you. Know 'cause now they see other people do it. So i tried to do a little more even when i do Signings and people wait in line for me. The the promoter say in rushing through enough. Take a picture. Put the ring on this. Do it right. And that way. They'll come back appreciated. And like i said it's all about how you make people feel and i wanna make people feel good. 'cause they make me feel good by telling me you know how great i love people tell you how great you are the time what you meant to their lives and and impact you've had on their lives. Rj that's that's pretty special so you wanna get that back to get that back to them and i'm proud to say i think i'd do it better than anybody. You know because. I care about it and i see other guys in the it. It bothers me sometimes. You know i was with a pharma. Cowboy went on. we're doing autographs such together. And he was upset. Because the money wasn't right he was upset with the promoter and so he was taking that out on the fans in line. We're sitting together there. So i had to pull him out of this autographs and say care. I don't care what you got going with. Its promoter but these fans you know. It ain't their fault okay. We're here we're going to do it right. And then we deal with this business back there so you know. That's very important to me to do it that way. And that's the way i've done and will continue to do it. I think that's really awesome. And i think it it means something different to your average fan. That gets a an autograph or picture. Whatever the case may be Because it's it doesn't feel like i'm just another person in the line you know it feels like i'm somebody that matter to drew pearson. I'm somebody that matter. Whoever and so. I've always admired that abacha and i think that's really cool. I do feel for you drew. Because now you're autographs gonna take a little bit longer. You gotta right. Ro age got h. o. f. I mean you know you know you study. Do some hand exercises called jerry rice of. I'm sure he's got a couple of for you to kind of work in that capacity. Give me some exactly something else. You know i'm so curious about. And i admire this greatly. Is you have been so vocal about how much the hall of fame means to you and everybody saw the video last year after again you had to wait another year too long and that's not how everybody is a lot of people you know. A lot of people wanna play cool. I want wanna say oh. Yeah it happens it happens. It doesn't mean a lot to me. But but i really respect that you have said no hell no. This means everything to me. Why why has why have you felt the need to be that vocal is i mean. I'm just so fascinated. Well you know. It's the crowning. I don't know the word appreciation satisfaction for your career. You know the pittock that pinnacle. I never thought a when i growing up being hall of famer Even in college you would just want to be a pro. That was the thing Even when i was with the dallas cowboys. I never thought about being hall of famer. All i wanted was my gain that particular day..

Pro football hall of fame drew pearson joins us next right here on the ocho. Please join now here on the blog and the boys podcast network by the one the only the legendary internationally famous debonair handsome is all could ever tell the one and only once again pro football hall of famer. The original ada drew pearson. Thank you so much for taking the time to join us here drew. They thank you so much for that introduction. Mac and we do that again. I i'll be you're not kidding. You've you've put in long enough to to have a hype man any any time you walk into a room. You should have somebody you kind of. Like the old king's court you know what i'm saying like introduce you and if you step back and you walk back in somebody should have to do it all over again. We're talking almost a week after it was officially announced that you are a member of the pro football hall of fame way way long overdue as you. Well know but you've known for some time. Obviously but what is the last week. Been like for you as as everybody has kind of. Come around to celebrate with you. Yeah had a little celebration when i got back from Tampa with my family and You know before before we get to that man. I this class on with man is extrordinary. man We spent that weekend together. It's like we've been together all our lives you know and We connect it and we're still connecting now with group texting and make plans together to go to canton in august. And it's like that. So when i got back home. I had another celebration. Our family was here. They celebrated with ms but all along. Rj i've been getting text messages emails. Phone calls Wishes and Things of that nature from everybody you know family friends and the best thing that like a lot of that from my teammates that i played with nasa finally got there. You'd be long. They're guys like rayfield wright saying hall just got better nat at your ear Tony dorsett roger staubach. You know all these cowboys. And then i got some. You know. Well wishes from People from other teams. Marcus allen in joke read in know joe. Green says you know. Welcome to the t you know statement. Yeah maybe now. I can beat you. Joe greene nephew. Beat us do super bowls. But it's been a great ride. And i'm enjoying every minute of it. Well that's awesome. i actually. I'm glad you brought up your fellow classmates. And i feel like i've never been a member of the pro football hall of fame. Obviously but i feel like you would feel intrinsically connected with them because you you are going to share something incredibly special at them for the rest of your life. I've been to one famous schreibman. It was two thousand and ten Headlined by emmitt smith and jerry rice but lots of great people. Dick lebeau the late. Great floyd little russ grimm Really fantastic class all the way around. Do you kind of feel that way. Like i mean. You've talked so much about immortality throughout the process of being elected to the pro football hall of fame. Do you feel like you are a mortally connected with these people specifically absolutely absolutely you know. I'll be mortally connected with every bus in that pro football hall of fame but note. The connection will be so much stronger with hall of fame cowboys. How thank catholic. Because most of those guys. I played with you know bob. Hayes roger starbuck radio right now renfro. You know these guys. I played with. I went to war with these guys in these guys. Say you along with them. You know man that's really special. Because they know what i brought to the team and that's kind of the thing are jaded the hall of fame voters couldn't see the stats and all that but they don't really see the value you worked at a t you know that was captain. Now that boko guy in the locker room setting its own in practice you know being fired up for the gay you know before they wouldn't let me You had to have time. That's called on the sideline coach landry designate designate. Meet be that guy outfield. After making a chess to call a time out because he trusted me like that. So yeah. this is Immortality and i got immortality to an extent here in dallas at the. At t. cowboy. Because that's going to be there forever. And i'm connected with a great group. They're you know the ring of honor. But this immortality out this is really it more tally. And now you're part of this team. And that's what david baker said when he may dead announcement to me You know you join one of the greatest teams ever assembled. And now you're one of this one of these guys forever and that's immortality and that's what's special about being in that hall of fame. That's why so many guys wanna get in your aren't j. I think president baker to such a great job of of really kind of explaining how meaningful this is. And i love how he always tells all the view that that they're going to protect your legacy forever. Because that's that's what makes the hall of fame the hall of fame. You mentioned the bus. You know you mentioned rayfield. Righty was during rayfield. Two thousand six induction when when john madden famously said that he believes all the bus. Talk to one another at night and everything if your bus could talk to somebody who has left earth when the doors close. Who do you think's the first bus that you would talk to. Who has let our earth correct. Because you didn't call anybody that's still on earth right now and have a chat on any all random friday. I mean so we left my rj bodies okay. Because we had so much together he took me under my wing under his wing. When i was a rookie and That meant a lot to me and helped me. Adjust the dallas become professional stuff like that but if it was a bus guy still living in still with us. It'd be jerry rice. Because i want to ask him. How did you do you know how to do what you did. For so long. And half the sustainability to be there each and every week game in and game out doing it. And i don't need the regular season games but doing in the postseason and donate like no none other you know. He's the only one with people as you feel like. You're the greatest receiver of all time. Yeah i feel that. But only one i can set to or give credit to over me would be jerry rice so i would like to talk to jerry. Rice about that and make sense. Jerry's wanted goats. certainly. Tom brady has made it a point to surpass them in a couple of capacities. You mentioned bob hayes. I don't know if you know this judy. I was thinking about it Number number eighty eight you guys get a lotta love rightfully so But twenty two and eighty eight or now the only numbers in cowboys. History that feature multiple hall of famers. Obviously twenty two. Along to bob emmett smith and now you and michael irvin. I imagine that ninety four. We'll get there with demarcus ware. Charles haley's in there are going back to rayfield wright zack..

michael irvin Tom brady Marcus allen bob emmett smith Tampa Dick lebeau friday Tony dorsett roger staubach bob hayes august john madden last week earth Joe greene Charles haley emmitt smith America two thousand david baker today

"Race is tag that franchise tag is ridiculous as far as the price tag but it remains to be seen and look. We have a long offseason ahead of us. And that's what we're going to have to dive in fi brother too. I think we overpaid for zeke. Yeah i mean look in. In retrospect when you pay the look they give jalen last year. Like i it. It's bid us a little bit in each way. They gave amari cooper one hundred million dollar contract. Yes i think he's still our number one receiver you know but it remains to be seen. We'll money is is what's important and dot. Doc was offered a very generous unfair contract. And i think i think the market will stay the same. I think that the guarantee will be up there. We'll find out is coming off the ankle. And yes he's ahead of schedule and all that good reporting but we just have to. We have to wait and see what brady just take. The goal here is to win. Super bowls is to win championships. Okay it's not for stats and you can't go eight knee and one in three and also his stats are based to on earth. Coming from behind their fluffed a little bit. I agree it again. You're looking at a russell wilson. A patrick mahomes. Atomic brady and aaron rodgers is that are winning. We're not waiting much. Brady era do we know is pay quarterback levi's twenty twenty twenty five million. Yes yeah that's it. When i say that's it that's a lot that's it. That's a lot but it's like okay. He got twenty five million area note that means they could spread it other places like that defense. We saw tonight if he wants to get forty five million a year. He's out of his mind. I'm a cowboy fan. I i'm not a dachshund i'm a cowboy fan. You understand when we're all listening. We are all on the same page that will be discussed for another time because quake wrap it up. But how the hell we just say drew pearson. All congratulations new. Thirty five years took the fact. That calvin johnson was a first ballot hall of famers disgusting and disrespectful and my brother brought up. Point on the phone. About hines ward okay. Which i thought was already. But he's not. Put the fact that cowan johnson is is the first ballot hall of famer and it took drew pearson thirty. Something years to get all famous sainted throws that shows a lot of cowboys within the league and the organizations and all this other stuff so happy to pearson his end. And if you want if you want to go back and listen to literally episode one of jersey boys podcast on our platform you can do again. Demanded disrespect that okay. You can make the argument for lynn. Swann you could make the argument for john. Stalwarts calling in even though drew pearson was two time all pro and had more yards more receptions touchdowns more not super bowls but they put harold carmichael before ju pearson. And then they may. Calvin johnson a first ballot hall of famer a key down the stairs. Just telling them what you told me. I think we got a role. But i will say about about calvin johnson that he's thirty eight thirty second and catches and forty something and receiving ours. They had a stretch. They had a stretch research. Some of his stuff. I think he's like second in yards per game or something like that. Never wanna play off. They had to dig own sixteen. Yes yes calvin. Johnson's teams at least first ballot. Definitely he shouldn't road but maybe thirty years down the road get. We're happy for him but the level of disrespected. That showed you day to me. It's been this well. I got an over but all right well with that being said there's a lot there's a there's some smoke and some fire coming out of the ears of of the jersey boys pockets but we are happy for drew pearson. He gets his. Do your the original eight and we love you. And you are childhood idol. And you you're long overdue. The only member of the seventies team. Okay make if you want to out the first ballot hall of famer if you want an ultimate guy cry moment go look up. You know the when they knocked on the door for drew pearson to to tell him he was getting in very awesome moments so with that being said the twenty twenty season we made it through a covert riddled season craziness all year round with with schedule changes and this that and a third. We're we're done we're done. We get close. This book opened up a new one. And and you know the cowboys look again once again. We're in the offseason. So there's re established hope. I guess For us and the offseason so again search has reestablished hope that the cleveland browns did new york jets. We're we're all the same thing everybody starting to everybody starts new we need. we need. We need to look at tampa bay coaches did and i think that that's our problem. Thing about kevin johnson. One game like i did. You're right calvin. Johnson did not have twenty one tackles in football game. Keith earns thank you guys again for joining the jersey. Boys podcast here on the blogging boys. Odd cast network powered by espy nation. Be sure to subscribe like comment. Rate review all that good stuff..

"Like that's a momentum. Changer i finally. I mean but then they didn't capitalize on it. I listen tom. Brady's the mvp definitely okay. But i mean tampa's defense man because when they got the ball back right do they. Were like what three and out something like. There's not show the park leonard. Honor these you know. He's a he's a kid. He had a lot of little. He had the bubble guts. Going on you know what i mean. He wasn't he's played well all year long. And then now he's farmland shangen ponds. Yes he had a bad game to the entire kansas city team. And let's not downplay. Andy reid was going through two days prior to the super bowl. You know what i mean like. There's a lot of factors. You could definitely think that but you cannot take any credit. The way for bruce arians and that coaching staff and tom brady and then they and kudos to them they want. Here's the thing in your defense as you. You you bash tom brady just i know i know you do it for fun. But and your defense yes. i agree. What makes tom brady. Smart is he went to team with bruce. Arians you know who took who took a carson palmer led arizona cardinals to the nfc championship. You know what i mean. I think it can wasn't hot. The one that wanted to super bowl right it wasn't it wasn't arians. I don't think i think it was wasn't on but my point is that that's what makes brady the best. Though that trump trying to say is that he knows how to surround himself with the right every piece of the puzzle with there. Yeah and he knows what to do. I meant he's just an all around football minded talented individual. That i think is.

"Five seventy klif well in the end. The much-awaited matchup wasn't much of a contest. Tom brady won his record. Seventh super bowl. Sunday as his tampa bay bucks overpowered the kansas city chiefs. Thirty one to nine proud of all the coaches forty three year old brady threw for three touchdowns including two to his own teammate. On the new. England pat rob gronkowski. Action dopson ski touchdown. Those two now have fourteen postseason touchdowns and new. Nfl record okay. Good for them. You can't do you let me tell you something. I really kinda bummed. And i'm i'm embarrassed because after we get off the air this morning at nine o'clock i have to go down to the official secret location of of of men's world and turn in my man card. Yeah i have to turn it in. And i can't get it back until the cowboys preseason begins because i didn't watch one minute of the super really did and i wanted to because this was supposed to be such a great game but apparently it was not and i've just frankly headed up to my eyes with tom. Brady and i can't even tell you why he always says the right thing he always. I guess it's at ted. He just seems absolutely perfect. He's got the perfect family. He's got the perfect life. And i'm just tired of it. Nobody is perfect. Would rather see aaron rodgers. Now there's a guy with some problems you know attitude. Chiefs made a lot of mistakes yesterday. Yes oh i hear. They had like eleven turnovers. You just can't you can't do that. Given the ball away given given away opportunities the the patriots see. i didn't watch. But i've studied it. The patriots had four turnovers. That's pretty high. High rate of incidents for both teams fifteen for the game and people were panning. The halftime show the weekend. I thought it was and i was glad that monday was coming in. The weekend was over his right. Yeah that's what. A lot of people were saying on twitter. I mean i. There were mike problems. It was hard to hear him. I don't know. I just thought it was just blonde. I thought the commercials were blah okay. I'm gonna i'm gonna be. I'm going to be totally honest now. I'm sorry we say transparency these days. We don't say honesty transparency. I did tune in for a couple of minutes and the thing that occurred to me more than anything was Look at all those cut out. People al-jabah thousand people in the but so many cutout news. Just oh. i'm sorry. I got used to it in the regular season. But this is the super bowl so anyway Relations to tom brady. And the over are president joe biden into cbs news interview with neuro donner o'donnell before the super bowl. He discussed a range of topics Including how to return to imprest in school safely. It's time for schools reopen safely safely. You have to have fewer people a classroom. You have to have ventilation systems. That have been reworked. Our cdc commissioner. It was gonna be coming out with science based judgment within. I think as early as wednesday as the lab what the minimum requirements are well. I'll tell you what it's a great relief to hear that he doesn't want the schools reopened dangerously dangerously. I've had it was a softball interview but no surprise there. No not at all pfizer. Expecting to nearly cut in half the amount of time it takes to produce a batch of covid nineteen vaccine other words to double their production right from one hundred and ten days to an average of sixty so that is great. Great news we call this project light speed. And it's called that for a reason according to tree project. Warp speed sounded stupid pfizer's vice-president well the only the only concern. I have is like okay. I hope you guys are cutting corners. Now hope you're not overworking the same people you know what i'm saying. Let's not go so fast that we start making mistakes in there but it's actually According to robert van and president of immunization policy and knowledge translation what knowledge translation. that's vaccine production consulting firm. The increased speed incapacity Was sexually to be expected. So let's hope it all goes well and we everybody with needles in their arms very soon But this is kind of upsetting so yeah has put its rollout of astrazeneca's covid vaccine originally due to start this week on hold. After study found it offered only minimal protection against a new variant of the virus currently dominating new infections in that country. The study study found that the vaccine does not work against mild and moderate illness with the variant. So are you saying it's not better than nothing. Apparently not They are going to get some pfizer. Vaccine and johnson and johnson and we and i guess pfizer pfizer pfizer pfizer and madonna have said that their vaccine provide some protection against these variants. But we still don't really know well with the impeachment trial set to begin this week. A narrow majority of americans say they support the senate convicting former president. Donald trump and barring him from holding federal office again this according to a new. Abc news ipsos poll in which they asked people with no qualifications to answer a question. That doesn't need to be answered in this latest. Fifty six percent of americans say trump should be convicted in barred from holding office and forty three percent. Say he should not be. But it's likely not going to have an effect. Senator rand paul out of kentucky is calling it a partisan farce this saying if we're going to criminalize speech in somehow impeach everyone who says go fight to hear your voices heard. I mean really. We ought to impeach chuck schumer then meantime.

"It has played a port because we haven't actively participated faded in that avenue. When it comes to finding jobs in sports well I mean thank goodness all the championships Cleveland? One Podesta was one in fifteen when he took over and sixteen. He's Owen sixteen and seventeen seventy eight and one in eighteen. Yeah these analytics are really Whitman ass in the NFL. The Cleveland Browns for run. I'll listen there are plenty of guys who would embrace analytics that are black. That aren't getting opportunities and there are plenty of guys who aren't embracing being analytics. That are white that are getting opportunities Bo. Sorry about it. I mean the one I think one of the big issues and I think you touched on it and I think it's true through the majority of in my experience in the NFL. The majority of white coaches spend and their time on the offensive side of the ball. And in this game where it's all about quarterbacking in offense and and that's become I mean you you get a young offensive coordinator those guys they WanNa hire and the majority of those guys happen to be white and I also think the the majority that analytics has its biggest influence on the offensive side of the football. And so I again I WANNA be clear. The the question is the NFL's embrace of Alex a factor in holding black coaches back. And so is it doesn't explain it all absolutely not but if the the sports world is being overrun by analytics it is a cross. The board again sabermetrics started in one thousand nine hundred seventy one and and then really took flight in baseball in the nineteen nineties with the Oakland Athletics and Sabermetrics and analytics moved to basketball in the last as ten fifteen years. And go look at. What's happened with basketball coaches go look at the whole conversation? I talked to these guys in my spare time away from the show. All the time about people upset like hey man. We can't get here coaching jobs anymore. And they keep throwing this whole if you're not a analytics guru and so go look at the six. NBA Coaches right now. Five of them are old school guys on their second third rip. Lloyd peers is the only guy. That's the first time head coach. He's a coach of the hawks. And guess what system he came out of the seventy sixers and the process and the the whole analytics so he's put himself in that lane and got the job. The same thing. This analytics revolution is sweeping through the NFL. And if you can't talk that language or if it sounds completely foreign to you and you can't be a participant in the direction the whole organization going because everybody like it or not as moving that direction. It makes you less appealing candidate than maybe a Kevin's defence. Whoever can talk that talk talk you absolutely right? And so here's what has to change. What has to change is the person of color? Whoever does this is going to be the one that is at the forefront of the room? The I who embraces the data. The film with a little bit of their own instincts is going to be the one that goes to the front a lot because as you talk about the hiring well when you have a room full of people who are big believers in analytics. You have to be able to speak that language now you can take that language. Use it the way that you see it because we all analytics as the players we call it a tendencies but we used to get the seats discount reports. What happened on third down what they run? "As you guys. What's your reaction to there's video and I've always felt like the NFL the Go-to a policy of you got ten years to make it into the hall of fame after you're eligible if you don't make it in ten years you're taking off the ballot the pain in this guy? I seventy years old He's been waiting thirty years all hell. It should have been over with twenty years ago Let me ask you that. I I disagree with Cabinet. Because would you always say mark. People always talk about minor surgery. Does you know when you say camping but but if I do fears in dome to cap it along I have a breath of life. I want an opportunity but to me. This was sad to watch. This was sad because grandma said. Don't let them steal your joy and right now they have his happiness hostage because he's still waiting and not just waiting but so invested and I understand why the only member of the nineteen seventies all decade team not in the hall of fame. But don't forget it's an accolade is subjective. Volt volt that is not looking directly at the numbers they're going deeper into some contributions and a lot of voters have Dallas connection. So you can't even say the by. Hi Is this is a tough situation. Watch a man especially with such accomplished career thirty years thirty waiting for just one moment to put the Cherry on top. I'd I'd agree with that I I. You can't cap it because a good friend of mine by Emma Jerry Kramer. One of the greatest of all time out of the University of Idaho just got in what a year ago and he was in his eighties. And everybody. When you said Jerry Kramer they just assumed? They saw the block in the championship. Game Against Dallas Dallas cowboys in the free You know in the in the frozen bowl type of thing right. And everybody assumed he was in and he didn't get into a year ago. Say about great movies mark was you wouldn't believe what was on the cutting room floor. Yeah that's what makes it great things that get left out. Make the people that actually get even. Listen I was sad for me. It was sad for me to watch that. But listen there are plenty of guys just like Drew Pearson and one of those guys randy gradisher seven in time pro bowler six time all pro when I'm grown up I'm watching Jack Lambert Randy gradisher on those are the two greatest middle linebackers in the history. And I happen to believe it. At that time of the seventies and they were both parts great defenses think about this now doomsday defense. There's hall of famers in it. The the Steel Curtain Defense Hall of Famers in it the purple people eaters. There's hall of famers in it the orange crush defense. There's not one hall of Famer from the Orange crush defense in in the hall of fame. That's a travesty. This is a really tight aperture that we put on these situations because it's one man's emotions and his tears. But if you widen this Out and you really look at what we're talking about. Why does drew Pearson needs a bunch of writers and broadcasters and people affiliated with the whole town? He's great drew. You're great you're great. We all know it. We appreciate your contributions to the game. It's not enough for some but I'm telling you that gold jacket. They put ron you represent goal. They might as well put dollar signs on it. There's a lot of the reason. Why so a lot of guys are desperate? It's a money making vehicle autograph. Grab it changes your life definitely but look at what. I'm not going. Ocho Cinco route. Where you just make up your own Jackie but dammit where like you don't have to have the actual physical cool jacket to wear that success that you're talking about and that's what's disturbing right now I understand? He's waiting at the bus. Stop certain point get up and walk the little like. Don't just sit there waiting for them to come to you. You're right about the monetary rewards but still. It just seems like even deeper than that. Well look I do think is deeper super but and again I'm people don't like me because I say things like this I drew Pearson out not a hall of fame. Oh Harold Carmichael not not a hall of fame I could rattle off a few rash. Didn't make it either. There's there's on four time all pro three time saying if everybody everybody let everybody in or is not the hall of fame anymore and so to me and I don't WanNa be hard on Drew Pearson. I get it but but some of what you're seeing is like an entitlement of how dare you not put me in the hall of fame. I don't know about that. Also the millennials players good point about exclusivity though because we all know this lines create interest. You go to the sunset strip and you see see a long line outside a nightclub. You're thinking well they got something figured out there. And that's why everybody wants in the hall of fame except when you go in that globe in time now for the most business special of the day I want to return to the topic of black. NFL head coaches and they trend in sports that may be limiting their rise analytics. Yesterday I ready story about the role of Brown's chief strategy officer Paul Depot Desta in the hiring of new coach. Kevin Stansky Dedessa is a proponent of analytics which is basically using massive amounts of statistics and data to informed decision making Cleveland Dot Com describe de pedestrians thinking an football analytics. This way. It's a way of thinking a way of doing the business a way of ideally of winning. It's brain over gut data over instincts gathering information that assistant drafting players and calling plays and everything in between it's being smart and open minded and collaborative and adaptable and it has spread around the NFL. Analytic it expressed first in major league baseball. It was originally called sabermetrics which is short for the Society for American Baseball Research in the nineteen nineties the in athletics general manager Billy beane fully embrace sabermetrics analytics analytics next move to the NBA before he was the face of the NBA's China Lasko Houston Rockets General Manager. Darryl Maury was the face of the League's analytics revolution. Football was the last sports to catch analytics fever in two thousand sixteen. The Cleveland browns hired. Billy Bean's assistant general manager. Paul Deeper Desta to bring analytics and that wave to the NFL l.. The wave is here now the NFL has embraced analytics among other things it shapes NFL coaches philosophy on fourth down decisions and two point conversions and decision making in professional sports are heavily influenced by the embrace of analytics. Guess which group of people are seen as most resistant to analytics addicts black people. Here's an excerpt from what my good friend. Michael Wilbon wrote for the undefeated in two thousand sixteen. The mission was to find black folks who spend any time talking about advanced analytics who's conversations are framed by or even casually include references to win shares or effective shooting percentage whip or points per possession. It's a failed mission so far totally empty conclusion advanced analytics and black folks. Hardly ever mix set aside a tiny handful of black men who have who make a living somewhere in the sports industry dealing with the numbers. There is absolutely zero aerob- mingling here's a clip of my good friend. Charles Barkley talking about Daryl Morey and analytics in two thousand fifteen. I'm not worried about their maury. He's one windows idiots who believe in analytics he went out and Got James Harden. Dwight Howard go tim. It has analytics. Anyone got Trevor Ariza but Navy what got Josh Smith. So first of all always believed analytics was crap and you know I never mentioned the rockets as a legitimate contender. Because they're not from two thousand one through two thousand fourteen the NBA average eleven black coaches. There are six black head coaches working in the NBA. Today analytics is is about brains over guts. Your Gut might tell you. Racism explains the dwindling number of black coaches in the NFL. The data might say. It's our reluctance to jump on the Analytics Politics Bandwagon. Analytics isn't going away. We can get with it or we can get left behind Marcellus Rowley who is the NFL's Dell's invasive analytics. A factor in holding back black coaches. No I I think if you chase analytics you just be chasing the latest wave that tries to explain the lack of minority black coaches in the NFL. You guys remember all the ways. Let's start with nobody. Nobody likes to highlight the thinking positions. I remember let's go back thirty. Forty years thinking positions where it used to be the safety linebacker a center and a quarterback white positions because the black players not deemed as intelligent perceived as intelligent as those white players in those positions. So now let's talk about where we are today. I think two things are really at play here because if you take the analytics guess what. There was a time where we're tasting the young office coordinator of quarterback coaches to office a quality. Control guys like we continue to say. Put yourself in those buckets. But they continue to move the bucket. Two things happen one when I retired. Not Too many brothers wanted to coach route. One and a lot of my brother's like Nah Dog not coaching. It's almost like how baseball's for the high school level like you're good at it but I don't see the end in sight. How many years in the minors? How many teams how many cities and a lot of brothers was like? I'm not coaching. So there's a smaller pool of advocates. When you talk about black coaches if you talk about especially into buckets that exists right now? We are left which Eric B enemy. How many guys really in those officer positions and the second thing is if you really look at it when you have that smaller pool and the guys are not doing exactly what they're poaching from? You're going to be in this situation where you have. Three black head coaches his which crazy enough is reflective of the population of black people in this country. Thirteen percent of the coaches at NFL or black and thirteen percent of the people in this country. You're black to we change. Our cultural values are what we desire out of the game. Post retirement retirement. I think a lot more guys. WanNa get into what I'm doing brothers love to talk it. But a Lotta guys. I don't see one to do the same thing and go through those rigors in that road to becoming black head coach I think he does play a small part. Why we haven't seen as many minority coaches? I think you have to kind of run it up the flagpole the people that hire are you general managers so when you have an an embrace of analytics at the highest level Most of those people come from notice to Ivy League. I League schools and much like you've seen baseball where baseball all is become very ivy league heavy in those upper management positions. Where you're not having a lot of people of color that are there and I'm not saying this a conscious effort to keep blacks out in however if you go all the way back to the high school level stem science technology mathematics? You don't see a heavy population of blacks delving in Endo subjects. And so if you're going to be a part of the nutrient and a nutrient says in sports analytics are being apart. We have to populate the pipeline with those who are interested in math. And so because you don't have many who are dealing in the numbers you have very very small pool so yes. It has played a port because we haven't actively participated faded in that avenue. "You have to go out and read for and usually is there to receive. We're joined now by I former. NFL Offensive Lineman rich or burger moved to Kansas City where the chiefs host the Titan in the AFC championship game. Sunday Tennessee has been rolling and just shutdown Alamar Jackson but now they're up against the most explosive offense in the league and Tyreek Hill. Sounds pretty confident that the chiefs receivers can't be stopped. I feel like nobody in NFL Cam Gore. Any of us. I mean and that's no disrespect. Nobody there's just a confidence that I got. I mean and myself in the White House I got around around me including two tight ends in bed. I feel like no. DB UNION NO Secondary Unit. No linebacker or any defense can any of us so man and manages easy for has to be and if you just allow us to to just run through owns is even easier so you like that problem with tyreek Hill on this this one. You can't say anything to a team that's about the plan the AFC championship game to motivate them more. It has nowhere to Lan Dan. No Bulletin Board material. This has no place to land in their psyche as they're already fully motivated now. I love the fact that he's he's actually speaking truth and matter of fact he's like look. We played these last time. I had a career high catches a season high in yards. And if you look at at our group as a collective they don't match up now confidence shouldn't Wayne even if they go out there and don't live up to those expectations. Your confidence doesn't waiver based on on just individual results. He said in general. I'm looking at that group. I'm looking at our group. Our group is better than no I look. I love the confidence. I'll tell you what I love about this. He was talking about his group. He wasn't just talking about himself he was talking to us. And I appreciate that side of it. I also appreciate the confidence but you can know that and not exude it. You don't have to say this out loud you could. You could all quietly in your room. Know how talented you are because you took a twenty four point deficit in the first quarter of a game and how to lead by half like we get it. You guys are talented. You are physical and you are fast passed on the outside you get open you create separation. Nothing more needs to be said. Here's what I don't like about it out some of it's not factually true. True those go so when you look at their last bunch of games Patrick mahomes healthy and you look at the Oakland raiders passing yards that they put up against that team it was under two two hundred is under two hundred one of the final two games against the chargers under two hundred against the Patriots. I mean yeah you put over three hundred on the Houston Texans but but if nobody can cover you and you're not really knocking the doors off of all of these competitors down the stretch of the season. Then what were they doing doing. I think they were covering you. tyreek I think they were covering Yumiko hard been Watkins. Kelsey and by the way Kelsey has been limping around at practice this week so there are some issues. I don't like it just because I'm paranoid chief's Fan and I know the history of the chiefs and all the things that can go wrong all but the other thing. It sounds exactly like Last week earl. Thomas talked about the Patriots. They weren't interested in tackling derrick. Henry that won't be our problem here. We put two hundred on them. This to me is cut from the same cloth man. There's no there was no reason for him to say it because most sports fans believe tyreek Hill said most broadcasters believing man this offense is unstoppable. These weapons would unstoppable. Can't play man can't plays oh I just think what. He's helped to sharpen their focus and preparation. This week is an extra motivation. No I do think it's extra focus and preparation ration- and a belief in the system that they're going to go out. I'm not going to be embarrassed by this group of wide receivers and weapons. Yeah I mean I'm different. I like a mouse spoken. I know that they're independent. Actions what I say versus what I actually do on the field. They're not connected. We can grab storyline. We could find commonality between the guys who are predicted wrong and we also do that for the guy who predicted correctly. I'm looking at it like if you're prepared. You never scare. I WANNA gaze as before talking bark and bark and bald also went out there. Barking Bargain Barg got home. Left out to dry right whoops then and you can go out there saying I'm not GonNa say a word that doesn't mean don't play. Well I remember. We had a guy at our locker room leaving name out of their war paint to to to smell assaults in the nostrils Astakhov. Don't speak to me go out there. Get busted sorry about how tyreek heels play tar heels are gonNA play his gay. It's about maybe maybe did he. Sharpen the focus the resolve and the effort in some way. That Tennessee is GONNA put out. I think the fifty third Manno Tennessee is prepared this week. Oh Yeah Looking over the AFC championship what's up with the NFC super six this weekend for the packers forty niners. Yes Sir it is and before the game kicks off on Sunday. Be sure to download the Super Six seven. Plays for free for your chance to win. Terry Bradshaw Twenty five thousand dollars guys. When the question is is how many combined passing says downs? Forty niners and packer stroll will like Marcellus what you got..

"SF Y tells you what you need to hear and not what you want. So welcome aboard buckle love and enjoyed we start New Orleans all right. Let's resist the temptation to turn Odell Beckham junior into a victim. Today New Orleans is police issued an arrest warrant for the wide receiver Apres Superdome. Security Guard filed a simple battery complaint against Beckham video captured Beckham slapping slapping the security guard on the but in the Lsu Post Game Locker Room. Monday night the battery. Complaints seems like a petty overreaction unless you understand the context context the battery complaint is connected to the massive headache Beckham has calls. LSU officials head coach at order on Lsu fans and the entire SEC ABC before slapping security guard on the but Beckham spent the immediate moments after Lsu completed its route of Clinton handing out wads of cash to Lsu. Players is on the field. This too was captured on video on Tuesday. LSU claimed Beckham passed out. Fake cast yesterday after quarterback Joe Borough admitted or or any podcast interview the money was real unless you reverse course and acknowledged that it was investigating Beckham's actions they issued a statement saying we are aware of the situation regarding Odell L. Beckham junior interacting with LSU student athletes and others unaffiliated with the team following the championship. Game Monday night. Initial information suggested the bills. That were exchanged aims were nominally. Bills Information and footage reviewed since shows apparent cash may also have been given to LSU student athletes we were in contact with the NCWA and the SEC. Amini upon learning of this situation and with some of our student athletes may have been placed in a compromising position we are working with our student athletes the NC double a. and the S. E. C. in order to rectify the situation. Today's arrest warrant in my opinion is payback for all the trouble. Trouble Beckham has stirred up for LSU in the SEC. Everybody knows the deal in major college football and basketball. The elite schools in the elite players get hooked up by boosters alums Lum's Beckham just needlessly put his alma mater in the NCW crosshairs all because he wanted to promote LBJ Beckham Pity Mayes the virus spreading within thin sports culture. A growing number of high pro- Ath- athletes have abandoned any pretence to being role models in pursuit of being influencers. As I explained earlier this week there is a significant difference between being a role model and influence a role model attempts to model public behavior to be emulated by young people and influencers. The goal is to develop a large following by any means necessary and influence that following into buying commercial products. Walter Payton aspire to be a Role Model L. O.. BJ ASPIRES TO BE KIM Kardashian. Lindsay Lohan and Paris Hilton. He hasn't released a sex tape yet. But it's only a matter of time. He's obsessed with. Hey look could be stunts that enhance his social media brand over Jay is a self serving agent chaos whose lone mission in life is the promotional. BJ He is not alone alone. Antonio Brown suffers the exact same disease. Sodas Colin Kaepernick is Beckham's form of social media influence or chaos as bad as browns and caps. No Brown is sociopathic and cap is using police brutality to sell nikes but Brown and capper no longer on. NFL teams my point. On Beckham income is his influence or addiction. MAKES HIM A really bad fit for team. Sports Beckham's influence makes it extremely hard to build a winning culture. He's Terrel Owens on social social media steroids your best player. The player with the most influence on the locker room can't contradict values taught by the coaching staff team sports or about sacrificing adviser for the man or woman next to you there about elevating the people you work with and subjugating your individual ego for the greater good of the team team sports are about shared goals. I shared experiences shared values the one hundred or so players on that. Lsu team the twenty or so coaches the team of administrators trainers and support staff. I've worked all year to win a national championship while they were doing the work to win a national title. Ob Jay was helping the Cleveland Browns underachieve and miss the playoffs Monday Sunday night wasn't about Odell Beckham. Junior Chieveley hijack the event and made it about him. It's literally the most Selfish Act. I've seen in sport put I. Don't blame people in Louisiana for seeking payback. LSU should banning from its campus in the Cleveland. Browns should dump Oh. BJ and rid their locker room of his. His influence are joining the death. Now Fox sports. NFL analyst Mark Slayer and Bucky Brooks Marcellus. Get US rolling. Yeah what should LSU do about Odell L. Beckham Julia. Oh what should happen in this episode of Dumb and dumber which is just dumped a slap a security guard on his butt and is dumber to even bring up criminal criminal charges for that same slap. You should take notice the NFL's doing and this approach with Ab. which is slow is the way to go? Let something something else let the system judicial system in ABC's case or NCWA and Lsu's case actually set the ruling before you actually go out there and set the ruling remember when you're trying to team build and Lsu and this perfect season would deem everything outside that teeing seen those players is outside noise that includes Odell Beckham in this situation right now. That's outside noise. He didn't have impact on the game. He's not a teammate. And these guys are in a world that's going to change. If they achieve their goals the rules will change everything that we are now. Criticizing will turn and flip into being something that is perfectly define legal and ethical but right now there's no message that's going to be learned by you being fast to a judgment or penalty Odell and there's nothing that these players are going to be able to absorb because they're in a different world didn't Odell so just because of those circumstances. I just say Paul's for the cost when this comes to out do not believe that. Lsu should disassociate themselves with ob J.. He does need a stern talking to he has to understand any can't put Lsu you and compromising situations with behavior and what he did on Monday night at a game. He certainly did that but he is too. Valuable to the university to the football program. Ram as a recruiting tool to completely ostracized from the program. When you go to these high school football camps and you talk to young receivers Obi Jay Jay is a guy that they aspire to be? He is the one that they look up to. So you still have to have him around the program you still want to benefit from his hero status his icon con status. But he has to know that. You can't put the bigger Brandon Jeffrey. I would say this if I was. LSU I would have a meeting with with Odell Beckham Junior and the powers that be at Lsu and say if you act like a moron and that's what you acted like on Monday night then. You're not I'm going to be allowed to be around our program. That's the bottom line. We want you to be a part of our program. But if you're going to act like a fool and you've got that kind of to me the premeditated portion of putting a stack of high society in your pocket and traveling around. Get yourself your or attention. Because that's what that is that to me is wrong if you WANNA celebrate with those kids and celebrate championship. I don't have a problem with you celebrating championship pitcher but that was celebrating your brand and I've strongly feel that. That's that's what went down there so I would have to have a conversation with him if you want to act like an adult. You WanNa. It'll be a great role model and you want to help these kids. Get the next level. I'm all for that. But Hey listen just because there are problems with the structure of the NCAA okay and there are. There are plenty of problems with that. That does not make what he did right. It's not and so those was the conversations I would have because I'm with you man. He say whatever you want kids aspire to him. I mean they gravitate whatever to a lot of things I I understand. I understand that but things. That aren't Gopher I WANNA go cut deeper on why this is serious and why this is the state of Louisiana and people in power our. They're taking action against Odell Beckham Junior. You can blame the security guard all you want. It ain't him. This man is put everybody in jeopardy. We all know the deal with big. Tom Elite Sports. We know what all the way down to the mid American conference level where I played at people help these kids in ways that they can and there are are people that really had something to do with that great. Lsu Team in what they accomplished and they don't want the NC Double A.. nosing around asking a bunch of questions and that may create a trail to them because people have gone to jail recently. Moreover this the Adidas trial people we'll have just prosecutors have used these. NCWA rules to come up with some bogus charges to make people felons over violating relating NCWA. AMATEURISM rules all. BJ In his stupidity has put a lot of people in jeopardy. And that's why they need to disassociate associated he's not bigger than Lsu he's not so important to LSU football that they can't survive without him they have far more wealthier alums they they have far. More people were responsible for the recruits in the players. That they have which you don't want to set off what he has set off a bunch of. NCWA the people in the media and everybody else. Well let's go through. LSU with a fine tooth comb. There are people in power there in Louisiana that invested in and his team and in this program. That don't want any parts of that and this do we can't just look the other way because this dude is this year responsible this self absorb for this stupid. Yeah Shamo you'll Bj for your selfishness for now shining. A light on all the legalities were actually committing down here right now. We just want to keep the status quoque which is hey. LBJ You bring in the fans down here. Look I'll be guilty of this as we say in a lock. He was on one he got lost in the sauce. Whatever he was doing oh and he went to the degree? But it's funny when we talk about him and his self serving nature and attention seeking that a lot. The headlines are being made of him equipment the entire team with headphones. Illegal way the right way he sits down beats by dre three hundred fifty dollars value to everybody the Lsu affiliated and then he got in the moment and realized they were doing something that he's never seen before his family any went overboard guilty guilty guilty but this whole notion that ob Jay's going to be held to a standard at people in normal society are not going to be held to this whole role model versus influencers. That's it's absurd because role we used to say. Yesterday's athletes were role models they were just mislabeled. They were just under served and underpaid influences at at the time I didn't have the platform properly like Oh. BJ Does Right now oh. BJ shouldn't be held to any higher standard. Then we are then your neighbors are and it's funny. When we we say athlete in trouble we blow it up out of proportion even though all the statistics?.
