Cowboys' Prescott doesn't get deal to replace franchise tag
"Not Deal for. Prescott and the cowboys could not agree to terms on a deal that would have the quarterback between thirty three and thirty five million dollars annually with a hundred and ten million of that guaranteed. So Daf will now play this season on the thirty one point four million dollar franchise tag. He will once again on himself this season if there were reports that the two sides were close, they clearly were not close enough. WHO's more likely to regret? Not Getting a deal done deaf Prescott or the Dallas Cowboys. I'm going to say. Despite the fact that I believe is going to end up the highest paid player than Patrick Mahomes in NFL, history I Dak is going to get the money that he ultimately wanted I think he's going to be franchise tag this year franchise tag next year and then hit open free agency. But here for deck that in the in the pursuit of that money, he's going to become an athlete that I. Don't think any athlete wants to be which is your name is not your name anymore? It's not Dak. Prescott is having a Joe Johnson Joe. Johnson stopped being Joe Johnson. He started being Joe Contract because no matter how good he was, he was never going to be able to live up to that contract. And I think Jack is setting himself up to be a little bit richer than he otherwise would be. Be a guy who can never live up to that contract, and the reason I think Dallas is not gonNA regret this, even if they back on the quarterback treadmill is because the the worst thing you can have in this league. Wild does not have a quarterback. The worst thing you can have is a vastly overpaid quarterback. If you don't have a quarterback and find a new one, you can go try to find one if you have a vastly overpaid quarterback. You're just stuck and so I think Jack is going to get what he thinks he wants in this the most money in. Have ever gotten aside from Mahomes I. Think he will end up regretting it because you have a great organization, you have great skill, position guys, and if he would've just signed for Carson, Wentz plus ten percent, no one would've held it against him, and instead this contract and the negotiations around at wild. You're going to be the narrative surrounding him for years to come. See I disagree. You think that it's it's. I think the worst thing to have is a mediocre quarterback. Any shot at the super. Bowl and I'm GONNA throw to a clip of Darren Woodson in a second, but I think in our minds if it's been glossed over that, it was troy and then Tony, but there was a the drew bledsoe Weirdo error there that they were in a bad spot. If we can take a listen a Darren Woodson please hubs. In, the world when you have quarterback purgatory. Where you can. You're not good at that position. That position is holding you back from winning games, and there was a time before Tony Romo era. Where there were four years, we went five and eleven. In a week, totally struggled at that one position in in today's game that one position is means a ton means wins and losses gotta get you over the Hump in when you don't have that Clare in that position. It's a huge struggle. I'm. So. Bryan. I think this eventually gets done I. Don't know if he gets franchise again. I think that we just moved the goalposts and a long-term deals going to get done. They like each other. Dak wanted for the cowboys wanted five I. Don't think the answer is. Let's get divorced just because we can't agree. I think this eventually get works gets worked out and I. Don't think anyone has any regrets long-term. The cowboys ended up regretted. Just a bit because I think that goes out and has a very good year. This season with Mike McCarthy Mike McCarthy comes back in after winning a playoff game or two, and says we need to have Dak back now. The cowboys have to pay him that long term contract, which is going to be a little bit more than they would have had to pay him this year. Here's the question that I've always had. If if the cowboys don't love, why would they ever want to sign him to a five year deal versus the forty deal if you don't love them then? On to a four year deal, you can get rid of him quicker. Why would you want WanNa longer contract if you don't love him, and you don't know exactly what he is for your football team to me I think they know who back is they just don't WanNa, pay him because they see him as a fourth round pick. A guy that has played well in this career hasn't quite got over the Hump. I don't think they want to pay him if I'm back Prescott I, feel like I'm in a great position to meet the floor. The absolute four is thirty three to thirty five million dollar contract that you can get from some other team after the season. If things don't work out for you here in Dallas, I think a team like Jacksonville. Teams that would need a quarterback was still need a quarterback next year and would be that open market possibly if he doesn't give franchise in the floor to his contract would be that deal that he turned down this season from the cowboys.

"So how how we how would you be able to justify? Oh, we're going to start Tom Brady over the one hundred dollar quarterback is just you know, I I don't see that. I wouldn't I didn't see that happening as well. So again, everything happens for reasons that hit by MO Lewis set things in motion for the patriots. Think about this Mola's hits Drew Bledsoe. And Bill Belichick walks out on the New York Jets. So the New York Jets produced the coach and the quarterback that launch this night. But you know. It is crazy how intertwine those two franchises are. Yup. It is at you played for the jets from two thousand eight to two thousand ten so, you know, there's there's been a bunch of cross pollinating between the the patriots and jets where you're talking about Curtis. Martin and myself there has been a plethora players this. That's playful both teams and yes, the jets absolutely put the put the dynasty emotion. Amazing. I think about it. And it's really true. They maybe it doesn't happen without the New York Jets on behalf of the patriots fans. They thanked the jets four thanks for coming and please pay your Bill. It's incredible. Okay. Daming the real reason I know the patriots won the Super Bowl. But the real reason that I want to get you on this podcast is people. See you this big lovable guy on NFL live and get up in the morning, undoing all these shows having had this excellent NFL career that included two Super Bowl championships and won proble peer in two thousand two and one hundred seventy three games played the whole thing. "Belichick. And is starting quarterback Drew Bledsoe. They signed Drew Bledsoe to a ten year deal after that season. Because there are so committed to him the great Drew Bledsoe. He gets laid there and all the production. People who predict things. Yes. I'm gonna have a fifth-place finish or so again and their genius quarterback. Who again, they'd signed a long term deal. The beginning of the season gets waylaid afternoon to start. They put in Tom Brady the sixth round draft pick because I got no choice. He goes eleven and three over the rest of the season wins the Super Bowl. And so we begin. But any talk about Bill Belichick being a genius has to include that doesn't it? I have I have a feeling had some role in the long term contract. They just signed for Drew Bledsoe coming off a fifth-place finish. They were getting stuff together. You're simplifying the game. Now, how was the old line that year, Jack? How does the only thing that matters? How was the day started Drew Bledsoe the rest of the year? Tell me about the left garnered week, please. And all those teams have passed on Tom Brady, they're all full of geniuses to. They had no idea. You can't predict these things. That's just my only point. Who knows? Right. I like those pictures of Tom Brady when he was fresh out of college when he was kind of doughy, soft look. Yeah. Look like kinda pigeon chested thin arm. Do. Yeah. The greatest football player of all time. He nobody. Nobody thought. Nobody thought that. Of course, nobody knew he was going to be this committed to as a lifestyle either. Right, right. What's his favorite cheetah dessert? Staring at a strawberry for half an hour staring at a picture of a strawberries. So a quick note. Just because I can't believe we haven't gotten to this this week. And I apologize for that. It's just been really busy Newsweek, but great piece in the San Diego union Tribune couple of days ago about the fact that Tijuana has become one of the deadliest cities on earth in recent years, there is blood running through the streets of Tijuana. Maybe I'll jump to the punchline early anybody in America, Nancy, Chuck Carmela, anybody think we ought to tear down the walls that separate Tijuana from the United States the population to Tijuana all the drug dealers all the hitman all the cartel guys. Or do you think we ought to make them go through a little narrow doorway and try to figure out who they are. If they come in. Stories about Tijuana city of one point eight million people twenty five hundred and eighteen people will kill their last year nearly seven times the total of twenty twelve. Hundred and forty killings per one hundred thousand people Tijuana's now, one of the deadly cities in the world. So again hundred and forty per hundred thousand. In San Diego. There were two killings per one hundred thousand people so it is seventy times more murderous in Tijuana right across the fence slash wall slash barrier than in San Diego. You tear down there wall. What do you think is going to happen? Nancy Chuck Carmela welfare immoral races. Halftime interview with the president during the Super Bowl in the past. Some news has been made. Wasn't that the the Trump what he did though? Hey, come on. We we do some bad stuff to the Super Bowl. On the other end. The idea of Trump will say what he thinks is not that hot. He's you know, signing I need an interview with the president during my Super Bowl. Like, I need a dietitian standing by warned me against stay out of here. I don't need you here. Yeah. Come back tomorrow. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. But I suppose. It'll be interesting. He may say something crazy. But I don't know. I just is everything gotta be politics. Everything I don't know have it on after I'll be drunk. I'll be full the tired. I'll be that's a decent question. Especially now with this president. Is there anybody that wants that at their Super Bowl party? Is it halftime that the interviews? Yeah. Now, I think its pre game pre game. I think it is pretty good. Is there anybody that wants to better? Who wants that? Maroon five we don't have time for the pace. The great maroon five. Would you like to see an interview with the president during the Super Bowl pre-game show? I cannot imagine the numbers would be roughly similar to the numbers of people who want the wall torn down. So Tijuana can come visit San Diego if you got any chance of a mixed crowd where some people like Trump, some people hate them in your house. You just don't want it on the TV. No, if you're Trump haters, you don't want it on the treaty TV. And then even if your trip lovers you need to hear more right before he watches the football game and drink beer cheese. I just don't know if anybody needs that networks must think you need it. Yeah. Again, I don't know. It's it's well, it's like the Super Bowl halftime show. It really needs to be rethought. Puppy bowl. That's our thing. All recorded. It's on threes. Turn, but they rerun it. All right, or the underwear football and girls doing their thing this year to that went away years ago. Didn't it? Me too. Joe time's up hashtag, they're grown woman. They can live their lives the way they want. They want to put on there and play football. Stop them. I'm a grown, man. I'm not gonna watch women in their underwear playing.

"His veteran or maybe they keep Mike Patton who did a decent job last year decent job last year. Who are they going to get? They gotta go find somebody. He's got to go. Find his way Phillips someone with some experience. And I liked the fact at least patents got head coaching experience. Wade Phillips at head coaching experience, you try and get somebody that you got somebody with some years under your belt. Yes. To get somebody Evangelina Bill. So I mean, you gotta go on defense coordinator with a bunch of experiences. Unbelievable anyways, real time action back to fulls. So here's my question for you. Just just looking at this situation and feel free to laugh at this or treat it, however, you have ever you want. Other than age. What are the major differences between the Brady Bledsoe comparison? Here is plenty that you said that 'cause all literally all day. I've been thinking about me, and this is what Bill chick had to decide with Tom Brady skies. More talented Bledsoe's more talented than Tom Brady and. A promise you like today. I was working out. I was like, man. This is Tom Brady Drew Bledsoe. Like after while you like. When it but. Jeez. Like, how long would what are we in the business of our wind business of collecting talent over in the business of winning games? This guy moves the ball. We win games. And so it is tough. Because you so I mean you so heavily invested in Carson Wentz. Being the dude he's the guy. He's a great guy. He's not every difference would be a major difference between the Brady blood so thing because Brady was significantly younger than blood. So these guys like he's twenty nine. How old is Carson twenty flipped? Right. So you have foles it's older than full roses twenty nine. He'll he'll be thirty in winces twenty six twenty seven twenty six. Here's a question for you guys. 'cause I'm curious about this because I don't think that there's really a dilemma here you go. Once my thing is do you think? Okay. Two years from now. We'll Nick foles be a starting quarterback in the NFL and this. So so Taylor. This is funny because I don't like foles outside of this. But inside of this system, you can't deny that they moved the ball, and they do all these days. And he really, you know, you know, who he reminds me of that was trying to think of it the other day that throw that he made to golden Tate over the middle which buck when you threw it. We did a thing. It's he's on this. He's on the right side of the hash. He throws the ball. And it lands. He started straight and it just kind of drifts in lands about four yards on the other side of the hash right in there. He catch the rainbow. He gets hit. But it was unbelievable catch and throw. I'm like, this is your guy. This checked alone is what he looks like throwing the ball. That's what it looks like it. We we scratch your head book. You were there are these guys winning. We'll check the home. So now, so that that is that that's actually a good thing. Because I lived through the Jay Z alone roller. We went to say go one for everybody. But he worked in that system. We went to Super Bowl thirty eight two years later. We went to the championship game a loss to Seattle. He had like a four five year room where you like it. You see? But it worked for this squad for a while. But eventually he comes back. He goes back to the pack. The thing about it is we all talk about system quarterbacks and this and that there's something about Doug Peterson in Nick foles where they just kind of get in that touchdown throat at Heathrow down. That was unbelievable because Linda Florida's coming right off his arm, and he dropped his arm is still delivered it on the thing..

"What does that mean that there's I mean those guys have elevated their level of play. You wanna go? Go ahead. Go ahead, go go ahead and gone over that I got a question of the hall of Famer sitting across. Greg just talked about declining numbers. So should Aaron Rodgers think about hanging up because he was having a really sorry season by his standards by his don't standards senior. I look at his numbers, and they are all in serious decline like like plummeting declined because he's nine thousand nine hundred QBR. He's twenty eighth and completion percentage. Do you think he's washed up at age thirty four? My don't I just don't he's already more than forty one skill. They're different forty one in thirty four. I just wanna know the big. No, okay. So here's my problem with this article. And I'm gonna say it again again, I know warn known him forever. Since way back to I interviewed Warren Moon when he was a quarterback of the Washington huskies. That's how far back I go with him. And I covered games that he played in Seattle for the huskies not for the Seahawks and I love Warren Moon, but I take issue with his approach to this. Because I do think he's a little threatened by the fact. That Tom Brady is threatening to a clips warns long deserves sort of title as the quarterback who lived the longest because he was starting games at age forty two. He wasn't great when he was forty two. He's actually great when he's forty one because he made the Pro Bowl when he started in Seattle forty one and he actually started one game for the Kansas City Chiefs at age forty four and Tom Brady says he's going to play and play at a high level till he's forty five. That's what he is. Valid that's e is not backed off that and I don't see any decline because I this story put we pulled out all the quotes from Warren Moon, and again, they have credibility because he did this at the highest level lateness career, but there are nine other people quoted in this article, and they all raved about Tom Brady at age forty one. And if I just throw out a few of them, my friend Darren Woodson at ESPN, he says great Dallas cowboy I don't think there's any fall off. I don't see any decline jolt is a guy I worked with ESPN for years. I don't see the arm getting weak. For. I don't see the release getting weaker. I don't see any movement in the pocket getting any slower. I see decisiveness ic- fire. Then we go to Drew Bledsoe. He lost his job Tom Brady. He's better now than he was five years ago. That's a mouthful and we get to Matt Hasselback not a great quarterback. But but a smart guy, we see him on ESPN, obviously. And he's saying I if you look at a picture of Tom now versus picture of his rookie year. He looks younger now than he did when he started and he went into his workout routine. He's probably quicker and more agile now than he's ever been. Wow. Okay. So everybody else's raving except for Warren Moon, and you have fixated on Warren Moon, making your k-. Oh, no, no. But right. But when have we ever known, Greg and you you play this game? And you know when have you ever seen a quarterback former quarterback criticizing current great quarterback player? We don't see that. That's one thing that fraternity never steps outside. We've seen. Running back offer harsh critiques whether running back DB's wide receiver is a possible war has some personal personally. I'm just ordering out there is it possible. Oh, no. Because what you're trying to do you trying to contaminate the water? I'm gonna try to name. No, no, no. Because is at run deeper than quarterback to call it. I don't know if this is what happens because anytime you offer critique of a Tom Brady your hater you jealous. Why can't I offer? A critique of what I see. Okay. Offer it, but he okay, Warren Moon over it. It it's skill you want. The people is on K when a us. "I think we've gone from Marceau's you make the point we used to look at high assassin. It's just the offensive line. Right. I think Peyton Manning has taught us not the quarterback can make a huge difference. And that's another way to evaluate quarterback. Just looking at your list. Drew Brees Tom Brady, Philip rivers rothlisburger on their guys that have played for a long time. They understand the internal clock to get the ball out day can protect the office of line. You've heard Tom Brady say why would I want to give this game? Now when I have all the answers to the test is their ability to quickly read the defense and get it out and so- veteran quarterbacks should play better because they have more experience. They know how to play the game. I think is more impressive. When you see a young quarterback on the list is either his ability or the coach's ability to craft an offense that allows them to play fast. Yeah, we're going back to the laws of nature. Now. I law nature's survival. Self-preservation? And if you're a smart quarterback, you learned at a love how you said internal clock because before you thrive, you gotta survive. And it's too many times I entered NFL when there was a Drew Bledsoe, Vinny testaverde's Marino. And for whatever reason they didn't even want an internal clock because they wanted to seven step drop let you run the long fly routes, and as a defender we were like, this is amazing one. You don't even have to have the same hip turn on a seven step drop. Because even if the tackled think he's doing a great job. You're washing me. Right back to that quarterback. Who's ten yards deep? I saw Jared Goff after his game in the post game press conference against the chiefs say I've been working on my drops my distance from center, which is amazing because a lot of times you can protect yourself. "That you know, if it would have been a prime time game, it would have been all we were talking about the next day. So now, we get an opportunity to see if the falcons can keep it close. And I think they will keep a close. I saw the spreads like thirteen and a half points. I think the falcons are going to keep this game close. They're desperate. We know that the saints defense has been better, but I would expect the falcons be able to throw the ball on the saints defense. So I look at it that way, and I think I kind of agree with you are we ever going to see the saints sleep slip up. You are they ever going to get caught sleeping here with all these big wins. They've had you know, that's the one thing. I've been impressed by the New Orleans Saints at this point. I mean, we'll they slip off slip up after a big win in Baltimore. Well, they slip up after a Sunday night win in Minnesota. Okay. The Rams game. This might be the week. They let. Nope. They don't do it. Then then they kill the bangles and the eagles. That's what I've been impressed with the saints. They have played and held themselves to a standard. They have yet to kind of play down to competition or do anything like that. They seem kind of like an unstoppable force right now. I think like thirteen points is too much. I'm with you. But the saints are. Clearly in a class of their own as compared to the falcons right now. All right. Quick break the saints loomed over that Monday night game. Because arguably they're better than the two teams that played in what autumn became one of the best games. We've ever seen in the regular season. Chris simms. Takeaways from chiefs Rams when PFC live continues. This is former NFL quarterback Drew Bledsoe. And you're listening to NBC sports radio. We are NFL network. This team is rising to the challenge. Making your morning. Your Thursday nights. Talking all day every day. All right here. We are the is this game. Is this their Super Bowl? We are about to see something special the soups. Ooh. Where's Khalil Mack?! The Raiders aren't saying
"I can tell you that right now. Nobody is in that locker room worried about any tension. Nobody is talking about any of the things that happened the off season. It's just doesn't. It doesn't exist. They're the only thing anybody's worried about is practice and is the next day practice. There were times being that building where there are a lot of things that were being said about the team. I remember when we let lower Malloy go and they said it's over in the locker room when they lost the team and all, but. But it was being said, but nobody talked about it and nobody cared about it, and everybody just put their head down and work towards the next day because that's just how it is. You know, I think human emotions do factor into this, like it's a game, Dave operated a certain way for a long time. But Tom Brady has the franchise player certainly would like to feel like the owner and the head coach back them up regardless of whether he's right or wrong. You also assurances Defillo like all the sacrifice, all the things that I've done to help us win and be a perennial contender that those things would be supported and reflected in the way we go about our business. So if he didn't feel like he was getting that support, I certainly could see where he would kind of feel like I'm out here on an island. It could change him come to carrying on the message that has always been kind of dispensed, Eric, I wanna push back against something you said in terms of the reporting on this book. And again, I'm not sure of anything, but the book basically says that Brady immediately called. Smith in the NFL PA and got on the phone with them. And so where they might be getting the information from is the NFL PA and sources there that are aware of how Brady reacted when Bob Kraft stepped down. And I agree with bookie to the extent that Tom Brady wants to fill a level of support I and again, when you factor in all the things we've been talking about all offseason how much less money he's taken throughout his career. He probably feels more entitled embolden than some as it relates to deflate gate though. I thought it was time to raise the white flag for Brady to put it away. The NFL Roger Goodell was backed into a corner. He had to stand tough against Tom Brady and the New England Patriots because of all the other things, the players thought they had gotten away with previously. When you look at this situation? Tom Brady was there and Drew Bledsoe was traded to buffalo, Tom Brady was there when Seymour was traded, Tom Brady has seen all the things. That take place there and there's a ruthless efficiency in that organization and everybody who's part of it knows that they're part of it. So if you don't feel necessarily as a pre shaded as you hope to be, you're probably in the wrong spot. That's your mindset. We're John gruden's returned to coaching. It's not after the slickest start with Khalil Mack holding out of camp and reportedly ducking the new raiders coach. Now Gruden says the defense wasn't any good. Even when MAC was there last year and reports of service that Khalil an team, they haven't had contract toxins. February Whitlam is Jon Gruden mishandling Khalil Mack. I don't know because I really want to hear what Eric in bookie Brooks have to say because of the way he's handling Khalil. Mack says to me that, hey, Kalou, you've been a great player, but our defense hasn't been great with you here. So maybe you're not as valuable as you think you are. I find it fascinating and it makes me wonder, but maybe the splash plays or there for Khalil Mack, but maybe he's unsound and other areas that I'm not aware of it does feel clumsy doesn't. It is real clumsy, but being with Jon Gruden back in ninety eight..

"It's Donovan also passed on Dante who in Lebanon dropping on the less Brown, Tim couch, number one, eagles to Donovan McNabb number two. I mean, he was never got Super Bowl with McNabb, but nonetheless he took them to one. All right, Tim couch took the Browns to nowhere. Okay, so let's see you that. Like I said, manning and leave. Okay. Let's see any others, right? There were quarterbacks want one and two. Nineteen Ninety-three you had the patriots taking Drew Bledsoe the Seahawks taking Rick. MIR my rear Mirer, right. I mean, Drew Bledsoe had a pretty successful NFL career Myra don't even know how to pronounce his last name. So that's all you need to know. They're okay. Let's see. Any other drafts. I'm all the way back in eighty nine. Now. I only saw it even if there is. I mean, we went far enough to where I've made my point. Okay. But either way, like I said, I mean, it's a point where Tim obeys really got to think hard about this. You don't want to. You don't even need a plant. Okay. Because this season it's going to be a bad year for them. I'm just going to say that right now. All right. They're going to start off and three. And I mean, you got to play their division of divisional teams twice. All right. You got to play the NFC east. I mean, there's no real easy part of their schedule. It's all a bunch of great teams. They're gonna be playing. That might be a little bit more a little bit of an exaggeration over exaggeration, but unless you get the point, okay, you don't make the playoffs. You probably gonna go six and ten, five and eleven. I mean. You still on James after that, obviously it's not working out. All right, dude. Got all the towel in the world, but it's just a point where. You're not winning. Okay. That's the object of the NFL to get results in win, right? Tampa Bay has not gotten that. Jon Gruden said he wanted to coach the the Buchan ears instead of the raiders, then Dirk cutter wouldn't have been outta here, right cutter since Jon Gruden decided to go coach the raiders. He gets one more year, right? I don't think that. They're cut last after the season. They don't make the playoffs. I think he's done. Okay. In our. It's all a point. Now temporaries gotta make a decision. I'm not sure what they're gonna end up doing, but either way them taking down the mural of James. Winston isn't too encouraging for him. Okay..

But the best organizations the best? Teams prepare for that here's the tax from the nine eight five why, even make this a subject why even put. Playoffs no wins first pick in the draft yes well five oh four I would challenge you to well challenge your opinion on this a little bit because. History actually tells us that it's not as hard as we might think if you have the depth and the talent across, the roster in place to win a Super Bowl with a backup quarterback Know, that's, not. A storyline and just thrown around a lot but in the history of the National Football League there have now been ten ten teams win a Super Bowl. With a backup quarterback and number's incredible that is one of about every five Super Bowls or one with a backup quarterback Here's the list. We saw last year with the Philadelphia Eagles and with Nick foles replacing Carson Wentz We had the patriots beating. The Rams in Super Bowl thirty. Six with Tom Brady super subbing for. Drew Bledsoe year before that so happened back to back years. Trent Dilfer Tony Banks was the starter there wasn't Dilfer, Dilfer was eight. Career journeyman a. Backup there he came in and the raven straddled the giants thirty four to seven Kurt, Warner the year before that people forget Kurt Warner wasn't the starter Trent. Green started the season for the. "At that's when the winning started wait a minute wait a minute if you're getting one thing got to the super bowl drew bledsoe when bill parcells was coaching the patriots drew bledsoe was their quarterback now they lost to the green bay packers and brett farve but they got there so the winning started a little bit before then and i only bring that up because when you look around the teams right now in sports teams are used to winning teams are used to losing cleveland browns are used to losing sacramento kings they used to losing right now if there's one surprise let's take the positive surprises first of all in baseball right now the atlanta braves who i don't mind telling you i root for them they are a surprise team the philadelphia phillies are surprise team the milwaukee brewers are surprise team seattle mariners are surprise all positive no surprise what's going on in houston no surprise what's going on with the boston red sox no surprise what's going on with the new york yankees biggest negative in terms of supplies if not shock the baltimore orioles i i can't imagine what's going on there i mean in buck showalter they've got one of the best managers in the game now i understand you need talent talent wins lack of talent you will lose that's part of the game but when you have a superstar talent or superstar talent plural we haven't is michelle going to be part of the orioles i don't know my guess is no they'll probably get traded someplace where a bunch of prospects and whoever gets machado and i don't see the yankees trading forum i really don't see the red sox trading foreign but who knows that's how much they want to beat the yankees they can't they can't stand it they want to beat the show bad i don't see the yankees trading from chateaux because the third base situations in pretty good shape and do harz right now you have to look at him as the inside favorite to win the rookie of the year in the american league but i just don't understand what's going on baltimore it's sad really this is a franchise once upon a time was one of the kingpins in baseball right now they have fallen on hard times another team that's fallen on hard times and it's a surprise to because of the way they started as the new york mets started out at eleven and two since then they've won twenty to ball games and lost forty seven and the added difficulty of dealing with their general manager who's battling cancer the trials and tribulations of playing major league baseball and the sad to see them change one thing i don't want to see a team going in or two teams going in for one game to determine if you're going into the playoffs want you play one hundred sixty two games i don't want it to be decided on one game i don't think it's right and it could happen it could happen to boston it could happen to the keys it could happen to houston could happen seattle to but we'll wait and see but we're more but just slightly more than halfway through the major league baseball season in right now the powers in the american league and there's no doubt about it it's boston it's the yankees it's the astros in the national league the best team supposedly was the washington nationals they have gone in the trash bin playing five hundred baseball right actually they're a game below five hundred now they've lost five in a row and right now if you're looking at a team that's looking to contend or looking at team that's looking to sell when it comes to trading deadline right now you gotta look at them and say are they the team that's going to sell and bryce harper's free after next season just in case anybody didn't remember that in case you didn't know rice hoppers dad was an avid yankee fan bryce harper's dad was an avid mickey mantle fan bryce harper grew up as a yankee fan does he still have that dream of wearing pinstripes you won't see it this year but you could next the rich get richer and it doesn't make any difference of its major league baseball or it's the nba with the golden state warriors or it's the nfl the rich get richer that's the way it goes and a lot of cities around this country keep asking the.

"It boils down to with me because you're right there were a bunch of mini runs built in there especially in the third quarter for the sixers you still saw flashes of certain things based on the game one read because we've gotten a sample of some of these series now we've seen blowouts really in the start of a few of these series most of them in the western conference but now here in the east do you guys what you saw last night still have faith in the seventy sixers would you still pick them to win this series i mean i wanna keep underselling the celtics is i think the sixers are a better team but the sixers but the celtics he i'll say yes i'll say i still will trust at the seventy sixers are going to win this series and al horford we'll keep making improving me wrong and rozier ahead another three to prove me wrong but i am going to say the sixers still win it i think by talent i think you have to look at the sixers as saying there are more talented squad right now but i'm beginning to think that this celtics team just knows how to play and brad stevens doing such a great job and plus they have the ultimate troll or by the way right now terry rozier who showed up before the game wearing the drew bledsoe jersey of course that going back to when he called eric bledsoe terry drew bledsoe post game and then eric bledsoe infamously said when asked about terry rozier oh you know who is who he is by the way drew bledsoe tweeted about terry rozier drew bledsoe jersey so this is all become a thing look it's hard for the celtics just whatever is thrown their way they they don't seem to matter i mean that's the ultimate sort of complement of of a championship team like whatever it is whatever they're losing all their best players and they still find a way to win that's the most impressive thing you can be team sports right now you'd spend that forward that could be the most dangerous team in pro basketball next season when you had all these young guys this meaningful experience used to being the alpha's and then you bring back your best players on the roster yikes yeah it's amazing again jaylen brown didn't play with the hamstring your best.

"Was it was at a downtown hotel in boston and announced triumphantly a ten year hundred three million dollar contract to sign drew bledsoe resign their franchise quarterback of the future now we all know things happen in bledsoe never ended up here i firmly believe and there's other the cover the patriots for that long to eventually tom brady was going to end up with somebody else besides bledsoe was going to end up as the quarterback it's just the way bella check does business i also firmly believe with seventeen years of history of ballot check here bledsoe was not going to be his guy he signed that contract that was crafts contract against every fiber in his body he's never done it since he's never given anybody big that was the beginning of the dynasty this feels like the that's three why this feels different is that's that's when bill was really starting to build his team i mean in two thousand one it essentially was parcells skies and bill was starting to move hayes pieces in chuck was fear with parcels in the late nineties was the defensive backs coach you're right he wasn't making the decision making the decisions this time he is fully in control and it feels like he's losing some control it feels like disagree it feels like he's losing something but he's not losing control that's fair point is losing something though it feels like he's as a veteran patriot told me earlier this week bills a little out of touch but he likes it that way but there's a price to pay for that meaning that he's got a lot of you brought up a great question last hour that tommy car and brought up who challenges him down there i think he's surrounded himself with a lot of yes men in the last four or five years and i think i always do that well i i don't think we can have it weighs his coaching staff none of them have nfl experience they're all the john carroll guys who've started as paper boys in the copy room and it's not far from the truth and earned the way up to offensive defensive coordinators and then nfl head coaches and he likes it that way because they're going to work harder they're going to.
