"draymond green" Discussed on The Herd with Colin Cowherd

"And they get firm, they get punitive. They find a freak out. All draymond Green said is that star player got to get out of there? That's That's called an opinion. It wasn't even A. Even a hot take that wasn't even a mild temperate take. Because there's this narrative about there with the NBA that of course, is not true like a lot of information on cable networks, but people believe it so it doesn't matter. The NBA has to fight this all the time. If you go to a small market, you can't win. That's actually what happens in baseball. Baseball has no salary CAP. If you look at Baseball's last twelve world series titles, it's the Yankee. Then the cubs and the red sox and the giants cardinals are a top ten revenue team. It's all big cities, San Francisco Chicago Boston New York. One Kansas City, eat out a world series and then back an hour later to being irrelevant but in the NBA The San Antonio Spurs were dynasty. Cleveland for eight years was fascinating actually seven, and then four more Portland last year got to the Western Conference. Finals. Oklahoma City's fantastic day one Indiana's Oh viable wait. Milwaukee's number one in the east. Hey a team from Canada just one. In the NBA small markets are often brilliantly represented. But yet people think the lottery is fixed really. You think the NBA said Hey. Let's put Zay on football city in New Orleans and dumber at in Memphis. That's what the NBA wanted yet in the NBA the Knicks have been dreadful. Washington can't get attacked together. When's the last time? Philadelphia was good or Detroit or Chicago or the Lakers for five years or the Clippers twenty years neuro until the last several. BIG CITY NBA teams. Small markets have flourished. EXCEPT SACRAMENTO. In baseball, it's the opposite. So that is why the NBA freaks out because there's this narrative that is not true. Small markets are great. I mean. If you told me the top seven or eight young players in the League, I don't know dame qualifies yet seven or eight young players. None of them are in New York none of them are in La but none of the top ten young players are in New, York or La there in places like Miami Oklahoma City Dallas fairly large. A lot of small market Milwaukee's got one. So this is why they freak out because they constantly in the NBA half the battle, this belief that small markets are the end of your career and that is simply not true. Kevin durant would have never left Oklahoma City. Had they not given James Harden away to Houston for an end table. If James Harden would've stayed there and had a paid him, and then the Oklahoma City would've won championships and heart and Westbrook and Kevin. Durant would be the right now and Milwaukee would be the best team in the East and Oklahoma. City would be the best team in the West. And Lebron. Probably wouldn't be in all the finals and Colli Leonard would still be in Canada so I just think it's a narrative that's not true. But the NBA freaks out about you can't control tampering first of all players talk all the time. Can you imagine if we had tampering rule in our business meaning that of joy and I talked about somebody on the air we'd get fine. But like when the show is over and we're walking to have lunch, we couldn't talk about it then. They're no cellphones. Tampering and tanking, happen all the time. You can't do anything about it. It happens in the NBA. Than any other sport, but the NBA realizes. Facts don't matter. It's all feelings. It's not about facts and the facts are small markets flourished in the NBA Canada. This year flourished Milwaukee's flourishing now. All right. So we'll give you the very latest on college football I'm going to go with my. Belief that the SEC has about a fifty fifty shot to survive this week of college football. That's my guess. They're the only ones I think that will go and have a season I'm rooting for the Big Ten and PAC twelve to play I got bad vibes on that Sec fifty-fifty. Go either way cross your fingers on that but we'll give you the very latest on that stuff colin. Right. Colin wrong. Coming top of the hour. Because Lebron is the mentally toughest player in the league that's a paraphrase is probably the most disciplined player of all time, and he thinks that makes the Lakers the favorite where you add on that. I just don't buy into it. You know and I'm at the point now where? Draymond everything about Lebron is great. I just can't buy in you. Know I get it. He's a part of their agency Chris. "Good had draymond green on the pot of I've said it for so long. Dream is going to be great if he wants to be a media because you can always tell how successful players going to be in media by how they behave in the league, you were loud and knowing and always had opinion out smoking while you're college continued with the League now you are successful immediate. The Charles Barkley same way loud and outspoken won't be quiet, not following the rules Randy Moss is the same way like you know religious. The same way like a lot of our colleagues were loud and outspoken there in the league. And had an opinion on topics, and that translates if he wants to be I'm sure that he will have a very long and successful career. But JALEN I WANNA. Ask You about some. Rudy Gobert, remember how he started this whole thing. It was Rudy Gobert, touching the phone bear. He sort of made this country take the coronavirus seriously. I swear to God like like individually kind of made the country. Take the coronavirus seriously. He's still can't smell. It's three months later. Now, there's so many people are asymptomatic in there, so many people that carry this disease and spread this disease don't even know that they have it but imagine. The ramifications of not being able to smell three months later. When. Winning your life does that, actually benefit you. That's my question for you when your life does that actually benefit you. "First of all let me just say thank you so much for taking the time out to talk with us. I certainly do appreciate it. Thank you for having me. I appreciate you having that the second thing I like to do is to ask you to tell us about yourself now when I say that. Many feel free to go all the way back to when Benny I started all as you can start more current day. Tell us about yourself born and raised in Detroit. Michigan will actually outside Detroit. You know a couple of years from places to Middle School. And Grosse Pointe Mosul elementaries who rose point in moved out the Southfield and went to Detroit Country Day high school where I played three sports basketball for a ranch ride one to eight inches and buy raw and one in track championship. Long Jumper graduated from there might style ship offers to play for Bond College and chose to go to Michigan State University. Where but there for five years by four years leading receiver on in junior and senior there on the Rose Bowl in twenty thirteen one of the best teams initials state history when we went thirteen one. Nedley to seminated professionally. That did not get drafted. I'm currently wanted to my season in the NFL won the Super Bowl and Denver in two thousand sixteen play my first four years in Denver for the last two years. I've played in New York last as Peyton Manning. The plane would be lamenting though nine and author. And you know that's just a little bit about me. I am a brother team. Want rather than two. I have two parents and step mom so I had a great people around me and I've been able to do things in my life with the help is a family friend fantastic. I don't even know where to start. We're GONNA take a quick left turn and learn a little bit more about you. What's your favorite thing to do now for you? I'm going to say outside of football. I enjoy things. I enjoy travelling. Recently you know taking a couple of trips to Mexico I would agrees go to. La Lived in New York to travel. Highlights been time with family and friends love being around my friends and you know guys that I played with friendships that I've grown throughout the year. I do enjoy reading. That's why also why I wrote a book enjoy learning from April. I and I really movie out will love data. What's your favorite movie right? Now I would say green book. I really like an movie of all time. You know you got any denzel movie really this one. The greatest actors of all time so American gangster within her faith a thousand disgrace got it so talk a little bit about your journey because a lot of times when people think about athletes we all understand how hard it is and how you have to be disciplined and Yadda Yadda Yadda talk a little bit. About what it takes to be successful not just athletically but in general you gotta work hard wood. I'd like to tell people is that success doesn't happen in a day. It happens every single day. When you say you have to be disciplined after that the right at the set goals that you really want to achieve like a new one to be a professional athlete. I didn't know if it was going to be for baller basketball but every single day like I was working towards that and our talented anybody out there. Yes be disciplined is very important but being persistent stand persisted toward your goal like Adobe Wall Time It took me twenty two years and come a pro athlete. Isn't that something happened overnight or happened. After a couple years at Michigan state not had been working for this pretty much. Whole Life. Now always consciously gone toward something but once. I started at Age Fourteen. Fifteen years old like all right. I WANNA be a professional athlete. I'm working towards that every single day. So success doesn't happen in a day. It happened every single day goal. Said you gotTA break in long-term goals down to your short term goals and your short term goals in T- long-term wills data. Thanks this so talk a little bit about your book. Why a book reflection reflection of where I met in my life and that things that I've been able to accomplish as a team as an individual and also the people that have been arrived around so great players and I've learned a lot of grey base of why not share those things with the world. Does I know with certain books have done for me in my life. And that's why I wrote one and why not inspired me. So that's why I'm so when people pick up and read it. What are they gonNA take away from it? This is like a self help. Books like self actualize books. And they're going to realize that they have all the power in everything that they have that they want to achieve their goals or dreams right inside a woman. They'll just Meyer Goldberg from a semis stories. But some of the people that I have in the book like my brother or Draymond Green Dr Quiz demarcus ware also has some fringe were entrepreneurs or in the book as well because connected. One person in the world is Allie. I want them to also learn from friends who still have the same doubts fears and insecurities still were able to overcome those things. There are ups and downs in life if you really want something. You're going to have to stay precision discipline and go after it. And that's what I just want be learning. I want people to take away from it. Give us some insight on one of the time because I know I'm in a season and in time in my life where I have had the thought. Okay I want to give up. I don't WanNa to do this anymore. What about you have you ever had a time in your life or in your career where you wanted to give up? You wanted to quit. But you didn't and help US UNDERSTAND. What made you continue on? I don't think I ever wanted to give quit. I would always tell myself dot to give up or quit in. Ireland will just know that. I would have a lot of regrets if I did give up to quit so I don't think I've had very cut moments like man. I don't WanNa feel this pain or I don't WanNa feel dizzy or fear a life. I've always told myself like you're going to regret this. If you don't go back out there or try so I don't ever want to give up but I just like everybody else. I've had my fears. That's an insecurities but I'll always tell myself. You gotta go for the asked. You knew each yourself up. If you don't get it was was one of your biggest failures if you describe it that way personally. I don't consider anything that I don't achieve as a failure but talk a little bit about some of those moments for you. What was the biggest moment in your life where he thought? Wow Man that Dingo will. I have moments like this every year but the first time. I've really felt a big failures. Probably my Richard Junior year at Michigan State. That'd be twenty twelve and I dropped. Touchdown passes on a big nationally televised game on ABC. And now that was the first time where you know they gain was really on my shoulders. I mean only happened in the first quarter. But you know you know. Lose game first quarter but I like that play could have made by different game. That was the first time night. They'll those fears and insecurities all that nervousness said. That's when I really got into understanding the mind. How strong the MY IDEAS? I can care of your mind. How IMPORTANT MODEL

And whether or not there was an elephant in the room with Kevin Durant and the way the situation was being handled with the warriors he came out and talked about that elephant in the room and what it meant to the team. The question is what do they think of his reaction? Stephen a reacted to drain on today on I take. I thought he did have a point in regards to K. D. only from the standpoint that when he talked about everybody having to answer questions are pertaining to their own future Obviously you know K okay. These contracts situation Definitely dictated that to some degree when you look at the warriors they were a juggernaut. They were a dynasty in face and Kevin. Durant was obviously incredibly essential. Part of all of that he busted onto the scene he immediately won two championships back to back. He averaged over twenty six points per game both seasons. He's clearly the best player on the best team with the two with the greatest shooting. Back what we had ever seen in the greatest shooter we had ever seen in our lifetime in steph.

How the Warriors stack up against Jordan's Bulls

"Everybody in the free world. Watch the last dance the other night. It appears Draymond. Green did too and draymond green went on a podcast yesterday. uninterrupted W RT s after. Show party with Paul Rivera and Maverick Carter. No less And he likened their last season with Kevin Durant the warriors to what he had just watched on. Tv with the last season of the Bulls and he didn't hold back and he said one of the things from watching it. Was that what you saw? Is everybody kind of set it up like this is going to be the last year and so there was none of that elephant in the room hanging out there for their team That last warriors team with Durant and said that you know. Steve tried to deal with it but Kevin was asked about it every day. Dream on saying I want to be a warrior for Life Klay say and I want to be a warrior for life and then there was this elephant in the room the entire year and it was almost as if he watched the last dance and thought Jeez They handled that a lot. Better like hanging out there the whole year. Everybody knew that was going to be the end and so they just treated it that way the whole year. What you guys think. I mean ownership didn't handle it better. The player of the players may have the players may have handled it at worst. And Scottie Pippen you know getting the surgery when he did wanting out you know Jordan thinking was selfish but ownership on the warriors side of things. At least their goal is building with sustainability. They WANNA keep steph curry and Klay Thompson and continue winning. Reisen Dorf in Krause and the Bulls were ready to pull the plug after the first three championships. Trying to trade pippen for camp granted that still a win but then after it it's about China. Tear Down Arriba. I don't see that from the warriors now but it is fascinating. How much history has repeated in some ways with the disease of more and whatnot that manifested with Katie? Always being jealous of steph curry in the spotlight that he received and you look at what the Bulls went through in the nineties. I it is hard to see the parallels from the players side. We think I didn't see it. I just think Jerry mind was a I think he was a little narcissistic with it is totally different situation. Durant in that situation is basically the Rodman character. Rodman was on the Bulls for three years. Durant shows up for three years pushes him to another level but other I mean the bulls thing was so different Jordan and pippen were together for you know twelve years and there were Phil Jackson for. I don't know it was at least nine or whatever and everything was the same and they were just going going going and they had all these different ups and downs and that warriors thing you know they durant was on that team for blip was if you add up when when he actually showed up and then when he left. It's less than three years. It's like thirty months It's not a perfect comparable for for either team. But I do think you know the players you know seeking that attention. Wanting what's there's at I think with that aspect there's some similarities but overall though I mean I'm with you in the sense that ownership in front office objectives here are far different in what the Bulls wanted to do in the nineties with Crowson. Reisen Dorf is far different than what the warriors are trying to do with Myers and and warriors ownership. Now right I mean the differences with the warriors thing. It was one person undermining the whole thing. Durant yeah the Bulls thing it was. It was like a bad marriage with you. Know eight nine different people. All knowing like the marriage is ending and I think with the warriors they kept trying to pull durant back in that second season when he was there was when it started to fall apart in the third season. I still feel like they felt like it might be salvageable until they had that clippers game and then after that I think there are some similarities with the chemistry. Let's say let's say this. Let's say draymond. His way would have played out the way he wanted to write like. I don't buy for one second. If Kevin Durant started that season said this is my last year with the warriors it still would have been a problem like the right here the whole year by the way. He should have done that though. That's how he should have handled it and I think part of the problem is he didn't handle it that way. And you know the players and the team new organization. They knew he was leaving. They knew about all the New York stuff they thought it was gonna be the Knicks but they knew he was leaving. It was by especially by February march ever in the league new so I think from that standpoint underminded what's the elephant in the room. That draymond talking about that. You know what I'm saying if they all had this understanding Kevin. Ain't going to be with US after this year. Then why is he acting like it was a problem throughout the entire year? That Kevin was just saying Oh. I don't know we'll see we'll because I think Kevin probably agree with this. I think there was still hope that he might do a one eighty. You know I I think that. And honestly with the with the ninety eight balls and you're gonNA find out in the tenth part it came a lot closer to everybody coming back except for Rodman I I think they knew Rodman was done but I think once they actually won. I think there was a moment there where they were like Holy Shit. What are we doing? We gotTA defend this again.

I think a team will beat them or since the clippers. Don't take care too much about seeding in the Lakers. Stay the number one seed if the clippers land four or five. They'll play the clippers in the second row. They'll play Lakers around. which would men? 'cause obviously semifinals matchup US and other Western Conference finals match. But I also feel like there may be a team that could upset me maybe Houston is probably the most likely that could upset one of the LA teams and. I think that they're going to keep them from making the the the Western Conference finals. I know a lot of people were expecting that to happen. A lot of people are wanting to happen. I'm sure it will be great for the Lee but I really think that that's something in my opinion that I think is going to happen. That's one of my first. Bold predictions of the twenty twenty season in further on my eh prediction is that the Golden State Warriors will form another super team. Now I don't know if there's going to be with Jaanus. It could be a cry towns because Golden State is monitoring situation but Golden State clearly knows. Listen with the way the League is if we want to be on topic how can we need to get an update US another super team together and I think that they're definitely trying very hard to get another another star player in there now. I do like that. Probably means that's the end of Draymond Green. But I think that's what they're aiming for taming to get their aiming to get another star in there to see to come back with clay and to come back with Steph potentially really they can make you trade for star because they if they do get a top three lottery pig. deathly do not be surprised. If they try to make a trade with that pick honestly they honestly could have just picked up an amazing asset for them because they could use that as trade bait in. That's good trait rate. You know maybe the team star is disgruntled. Maybe you never know. I mean this isn't somebody would think about like the sons have another bad year. We'll we'll give you our top pick and another guy. And we want Devon Booker. Obviously Yona how that work I mean you know. They're kind of doing the right now. And the end of the Russell even yeah no. We Really Devon Booker may be a better player Neanderthal Russell. But that's definitely a prediction I think could potentially happen. I think that the warriors warriors will form another super team. But it's not going to be as top heavy instrument of Kevin Durant who like the second best player in the League. That's why think if they got Jaanus it would be stacked because of state Stephan Klay can play like they play and then they completely put a better supporting cast around. Then you could say okay. Yeah this team is going to be very tough to beat. Even laker teams have a team. They may be looking up to but it will have to see because if they get any towns houses. This is a great player but we don't view him as view when Kevin Durant was there which means even though it would be very top heavy west conference. But that's when also and my pro predictions one of my other pro predictions. Are I think that revenue from the C.. BA will increase which will lead to more players undeserving of big major contracts. Getting big major contracts. I'm going to say any names. But it's like okay. Well I'll say this because I don't know if he's GonNa get it but there are people who are sometimes wonder now dre walgreens supposed to be a free agent this offseason offseason Draymond Green. We know he's not a guy who's going to score points we can do live. And he's a great gadget player. I would say but some people wonder. Would somebody pay draymond green the Max would they give draymond green that Max deal. That is something they definitely wonder about and like a question. Like why would you give you Max. If if there's more money to be spent draymond green could potentially ask for Max and if you like laundry a month you might give them close to it. I mean we already have players now. who try to sign that? First Max deal then take a shorter deal. Just didn't end up getting of that. Ten Year supermax dill. But you know it's one of those those things where I think that this will lead to more players being signed overpaid and I mean you obviously can see more cat room. It can lead the teams being in very weird financial situations with cap every team six Performing up to expectation and then you played a lot of guys a lot of money who may have never actually deserve the money in the first place so. I think that that's going to be something that's going to be interesting another addiction I have is. I think that James Harden will make it to the NBA Finals Cheer. I know that's pretty big. That basically means you're saying he's GonNa beat one or both La Teams. I think James Harden. This would be the best year for him to do it. I think right now this I flew. This is his best year do it. So I'M GONNA go ahead mcnabb. Oh predicts names hard. It's GonNa make the finals. These the rockets are GonNa make the finals. This may be shocking to you. But that's how I feel. I feel like that. Jr potentially do it. I feel like if he was able to average at least thirty in the playoffs and Russell could give him about twenty twenty three. That's fifty three between the two players and they have some good supporting cast. You can't forget about. PJ Tucker can't forget about Erik. Gordon Clink Appel. You definitely feel like they have all the potential attention in the world so potentially be a top team and so I would not be surprised if they end up being the top team they think they can be and making it to the NBA NBA finals. This year in basically just creating just such a great agree moment for the city Houston also another prediction. I think Diane if he comes back as soon as they say he come back. We'll still win rookie of the year. I think Zaylon has all the talents. Be A star of Zion. Comes back in balls out in just twenty points a game in gives you a lot of highlight plays. I think he will be able to squeeze out winning rookie year only only playing half of the year again. That's a pretty bold prediction but as I've anybody can do a Zairean can all takes his cause. Remember even the Luca one owned by a lot last year. You trae young exciting second half which made it interesting and don't be. We don't feel like John Moran is doing with Luca Danni last year so it's not as far fetched is not as it's not like oh it's completely impossible for Luca played so well and then trae young play well in the New Year but he's still play. Okay well it's like John Mirant is playing. Maybe the best right now. But he's not playing at local level from last year so of Zion can have maybe a trae young like surge in the second half of the season. I think he'll go ahead and win the rookie year. But it all depends on when he gets back. 'cause I do if he didn't get back to maybe mid February with that he wouldn't. It's only two months left in the season. At that point. He has to probably get back to move in the next two weeks and then just start going on a tear from game one because dial is full practice recently so he's clearly about to get there. Obviously you've seen him take jumpers you've seen him dunk Donc so I definitely things I on can win the rookie year if he gets back in time and my last bowl prediction is that the Atlanta Hawks will add a star player. This off season. I don't know who but I feel. They're gonNA add some but I feel like some of the issues they've had I flipped. They're going to add a star. Because I feel like you need to especially to make trae WANNA stay there because rotations rumblings that he might and I wanna stay. That may be something that you may want to do. If Your Hawks Front office you need to add some talent in their yep some good young talent but you're going to you know how it is as league view in a win you're gonNA have to give up that good young talent for solidified star. Obviously I feel like trays untouchable. But maybe Kevin Heard. Or maybe you D Andre One hundred maybe a cam reddish maybe push them shelby John Collins and I think they're gonNA make a trade for a proven star in this league and we'll have to see whoever that star is how far the Atlanta Hawks may potentially get because of it but that's it for me thank you for listening listening to the GMC football basketball podcast on the GMC podcast network. Golden State of Affairs: No Curry, No Klay. What's Next?

"What if I told you the best team in the NBA would become the worst? That really is a thirty for thirty TAGLINE WAITING TO HAPPEN NICK FIDEL covers the golden state warriors for ESPN. Okay Nick. I think it was last week. The that draymond green so eloquently summed up the state of the warriors right now. That's really the best way to it. Could you say Mr Green diagnosis is accurate. Yes no doubt. Meet people all around the league. They saw that that quote there were like wait. Wait wait what it's the warriors it's the warriors and the reality was even with a healthy dream on Steph. They were really we bad in for so many people for the last five years or so. who had watts his team dominate for so long there was a reality in the moment Omen that hey. This is not the same team that we've been watching the coaches and some of the staff members as people were were warm-up takes over the summer that they were just like what what what are people saying. I think they understood that there was going to be a lot of growing pains this year. And now all those pains have come to the forefront really really so during the off season you feel. There was a gap between the public perception of this team. The belief that they would still contend and the internal perception no question it was always for the warriors a gap year from the moment when go back to the finals. Kevin gets her Kevin Durant and then clay tears. ACL Well when you look at the way the roster was being constructed with nine guys who were twenty three years old or younger and you looked at the fact that they were hard capped apt and then they added de Ngelo Russell and you saw the pieces that were in play so many people on the outside went. Oh well you know what they still have Steph Jeff and they still have dream on and Klay. We'll be back at some point and people internally were like wait wait wait wait wait. Wait you have steph. WHO's GonNa have defenders all all over him all the time you've drawn who has struggled at times offensively and who knows if Claes can actually come back or not so all along? There was a there. It was a big difference in what the public perception of the words was this year. In the moment and what people inside the organization felt like it was going to be. Do you think that reality set in one clay got hurt tots hunting and Thompson brats. Now why pay me no. Let's go back in in time in. This goes back to about a year ago. Now now when K. D. and dream on got into that verbal back and forth at staples playing the clippers from that moment and even before that moment there were a lot of people in the organization. That were like. Kevin's probably gone. The thing that really sent this into a different path wasn't that Kevin got hurt because sadly the split was already pretty much done it felt like at least when Klay Thompson got hurt. That changed a lot of things because clay get being hurt that triggered triggered the de Ngelo Russell move. And then you're you're trading away Andrea Dolla. If clay doesn't get hurt maybe you keep big dollar. You don't hard cap yourself yourself this season you come into the new building with both healthy splash. Brothers and Draymond. When Klay got hurt that changed the way this season was going to be viewed? What expectations like first steph curry coming into this season Steph heard the chatter? Uh He always says that he doesn't pay attention to the outside sources me but that's ridiculous I mean he's he's a human being. He knows what's being said. He knew that everybody thought that this is going to be another. Mvp Year for him. He wanted to win the award. But I think Steph knew all along you take clay off the floor. And he's now the focal point with Steph. He knew as much as Kevin. I think drove people crazy easy sometimes within the organization. Nobody doubted just how phenomenal a player. He was Steph walking into this year. Hearing that everybody's saying it all this is your time to shine again. You're the MVP. I think he knew in the back of his mind all along. This is going to be very tough. I don't think the reality of Steph winning winning the award ever matched up to the expectations. They had to begin with. That's interesting to hear because you're right there was a perception or even a hope that we would get that full courier right because with K. D.. They've had to split some of the credit as well as the time during the regular season. And the idea of Steph unleashed. I was really intriguing to people. It was GONNA be awesome but people and this is going to be a recurring theme. When talking about the words they were living in the past people kept saying? Oh we'll steph. Is is incredible and he can do whatever he wants. He's one of the the very best players in the league. He's the best shooter I've ever seen in my life but when you're getting getting two and three bodies thrown at you at every play you're not gonNA play the same way next. This is is not a good basketball team. I feel comfortable saying with Steph out for a few months. Do you feel like the team should consider I am reluctant to use the word. But I'm going to say it. Should they tank leader okay. Let's go back to the night steph curry is grimacing. Emma seen holding what appears to be left risk he took Syria and warriors staffers for walking around and disbelief. They just could not believe that all these different injuries came down really at the at the same time. In the last six seven games they had played eight. I walked up to Joe Lake. The warriors owner walking out of the word locker room I said Joe what do you think about the injury and he said Hey I I saw it. I'm really sad about it but I'm an optimist and I think that this team now has a chance to see what these younger younger guys can do. And I think we'll come out of this okay and I said Joe You understand that once. This injury happened a lot of people around the League are GonNA ask about taking. How do you and media? He cut me off and he said what you say and I said Joe You understand understand that people are going to start asking about taking how do you he said what were to choose. And I said tanking in mean it was really clear earlier. He was trying to send a message to anybody around in the moment and anybody wondering what the warriors are going to do moving forward if they're going to take the answer was resounding no he just doesn't believe in it in this is a proud guy who just opened a billion and a half dollar Rena that a lot of people are invested into for a lot of two years but all that being said as much as I respect the attitude the reality for where the warriors are at is that's just packaging ACA Djing. We're not gonNA take look at the roster the roster isn't good this is not a team full of NBA caliber players. Frankly frankly so the takeaway for me is. This is one of the biggest blessing in disguise that this could be for the warriors

Bold predictions for the 2019-20 fantasy NBA season

"With the season starting tonight Jay world has put together there are three bold predictions for NBA year and it starts with the different superstar in the east it does the reason why Philadelphia Seventy sixers don't have a top deal because Simmons has not arrived all the way yet so here's my prediction Ben Simmons will finish this season in the MVP conversation I've seen the jump shot this summer I've talked to his trainer Chris Johnson he assured me that this is a confidence level for Ben Simmons I think they are going to dominate the east he will be in the conversation grill can shoot the ball he got a very scary player let's go out west now everyone is looking at l. a. what are you saying the Lakers and the clippers will not win the western conference I have the rockets Utah or Denver a win the western conference low management with the clippers where you're GONNA do with Kawhi Paul George Injury to shoulder Lebron James Ad Start off strong I think Frank Vogel kind of limits they're playing time I saw it gets to the regular regular season allowed me recipe the playoffs to be clear you're talking about finishing with the number one seed in the West not necessarily not coming out finally let's go to the team that has made it to the NBA finals every year in recent memory I've been saying this people call me crazy that's fine the warriors will not make the playoffs they are the fourth Bobby Marxists tweet this out they have the fourth youngest roster in the nba the fourth youngest roster now Steph Curry is tremendous I think he'll have MVP type caliber year but still is deal obamacare to loath having him and curry on the court at the same time it makes them a defensive liability draymond green they need him the score they started the day Glen Robinson Third Marquis Chris I mean that's a very and team in the loaded west one of the big questions about them we'll be Klay Thompson how soon he can come back and how effectively he come back and look at West is so low February march that's a big thing look we brought this up earlier the disparity in power between the two conferences if you put golden state in the east they have a chance if if Klay Thompson were to come back in February they could finish with one of the top more seeds in the eastern conference in the West they will agree with you they will likely miss the Blakeway Klay Thompson we'll come back the question is will he find that stride right away and I think after we come off a tornado wild find that confidence what eventually happens they flip Diangelo Russel for the piece that ends up working better in that group next year the year like after this one they're right back they

Holdout Ezekiel Elliott still absent from Dallas Cowboys as first game draws near

"Saturday multiple outlets report that there is some progress negotiation zeke and the cowboys and the expectation was that they would have something worked out by the end of the weekend then last night multiple reports stated that negotiations had fallen flat once again the category on structure the contract like total guaranteed money over how many years not necessarily how much the contract could top out at basically zeke is holding says i want todd gurley contract and then some the cowboys you're saying no because the dot girly contracts hawks folks because todd gurley is not right and if the rams were asked hey. Would you like to go sign. The curly contract again like no no. We're good. We love me on that one. This amid word you always has more cowboys have consistently shown willingness to sign their best players to extensions with two years remaining and make a player. The highest paid his position the fact that they're preparing to start the season without ezekiel ezekiel elliott has a holdout says a lot about how they view his demands. I drafted zeke elliott in in one of my fantasy leagues would have drafted him yesterday and the other fantasy league and my logic is there rawson rachel. He didn't really have have anywhere to go. He's under contract going anywhere and the whole sitting out thing like all right. He could sit out a couple of games. They're not gonna lose to the redskins or lose to the giants or lose lose to the dolphins which is not and this is not the lady on bell situation. He's not a free agent. Franchise tag like he still is under his rookie deal. Deal cowboys are in fact offering him a contract above and beyond that of a franchise tag. They're offering emigrate deal. Cowboys need him. They need him for later in the season need him to win a super bowl. The team is built around. Having a solid running game takes the pressure off dak prescott because it helps it helps to hide the fact that dak isn't deck. I mean that isn't that special. He is an elite but when is given all the weapon who work for he's going. He's fine. He's he's. He's he's draymond. Green deck is dre mongering with the cowboys really really effective without the cowboys and all they have probably just a guy but it's really hard to i find it draymond green just hard quarterbacks league and he has the equity and he continues to grow in terms of being a leader but this is ross and rachel. They're on a break but they're gonna get back together. A namesake tony pollard won't matter in a week or two weeks or a month or whenever and it it feels like the the cowboys probably went back and said look. We'll give you tell total dollar value of that todd gurley we just want to protect ourselves from your legal and bad the way the todd gurley did the cowboys haven't publicly once said anything said anything about you know dude. You were suspended six games and we went to the mattresses for you. Hey dude you almost got suspended this off season and we would have been therefore you. We would have said how wrong it was. We have fought for you. There is some there is some some some sweat equity from zeke but there's also some equity from extended from the cowboys and the other thing about the ross and rachel story to be honest at some point it did take away from the show right like i get it ross rachel. We'll be back together. Who are they dating now. When can they get back together all this other stuff but i like chandler. I like joey. I like how you doing.

"There was also another store it had to do with the n._c. Double a. an agent eligibility polity story and i don't know if you're interested in this but maybe the interesting part is lebron. James thinks that this is the rich paul rule and of course <hes> you oh that's his agent rich. Paul rich paul represents anthony davis john wall draymond green ben simmons and others the n._c._a._a. Players association for at least three years have a bachelor's degree provides seven years of address history had come to indianapolis to take an in person test of some sort. What what is that what's. It's the in person test well an exam. Let all right one to take an exam of being an agent i i. I have one question about this and if somebody from the n._c._a._a. Would join us. That would be great. Why now why not last year ten years ago fifteen year way. When did you really start caring about these basketball players and why bring it up now. Yes mclovin isn't that piece of the rule change about going back into college after the draft. I mean if you have all these requirements. It's to basically represent somebody who's probably going to be a second round draft. Pick right right. Can my parents represent me. What do they have to get certified. You know i don't know if i'm just kind of baffled by this that why now and why do we care so so much about basketball players probably because they're the ones that are stirring a multibillion dollar business called. March madness got to do what we can. We gotta keep them in school. We don't want to get them to the n._b._a. Too soon we got to protect our brackets here

"The warriors how now have curry Russell Thompson Draymond green all under contract going forward and Adam when you take a look at the Golden State Warriors the one thing that we kind of have to remember with this concept of a dynasty is there won't be a what if with this group we will see this and in front of us the three key players here dream on staff and clay they will be there together winning and losing so whatever happens you won't be able to say well what if they stayed together remember the Jordan bulls were pulled apart the heat will lebron in way they were pulled apart and Bosch Shaq and Kobe they were pulled apart we never got to see it actually play out with this warriors team we will be able to see this play out if you hate the warriors you didn't like their style play you didn't like the way they won championships the three that they want to this point you think that was all the rant well guess what you'll be proven right if they don't ever win again if you're someone who thought that this was a great basketball and and some of the best that we've ever seen in NBA history well they have an opportunity now in front of us were they can prove to us that they are as good as we think they are and I think that that's the main point what you said about Kevin Durant and the the the people that say while wasn't real until Kevin Durant we got there you know like they they needed another yet another star they still needed the best player arguably in the NBA to be on their team so now it's a matter of one can they stay healthy can they win enough to to get into the playoffs and get into a Western Conference finals or make it to the finals what Khloe what is Klay gonna look back when he gets healthy there's all these little Asterix that you can add to this season is going to be extremely interesting to see now that they're not the hunted anymore they can be the hunters and they can go in with this chip on the shoulder of people saying look we don't even think they're going to make the playoffs this year which is crazy that dies I think so too I think so too I know Wes is loaded by nineteen and going forward Klay Thompson Draymond green under contract for five seasons Steph curry under contract for three d'angelo Russell can be under control for for so the core for the warriors is set in place that's a pretty good core to have if you're the Golden

Warriors Rumors: Draymond Green's New Contract Has Trade Kicker

"Speaking of money party a dream on green says yeah a broken off a little bit yeah I saw that there is new news today the last year was an option here on that contract so it's for for like right at a hundred in the last year as an option as a trade kicker as well also gets traded to gets like an extra eleven million or something like that but that would seem to make a lot of sense for both parties it made a lot of sense for dream on even though he waited until next year could have made more money I mean conceivably could have made up to two hundred million dollars a good about all defensive NBA or defensive player of the year if not a cut made a hundred fifty but now your secure for the next three years and when you're thirty three maybe instead of one more contract left maybe not maybe a big one maybe not but this is one the you don't have to you don't have to go through the entire season is he going to say is he not gonna stay you don't have to press you don't have to wonder about getting paid less than the twenty five million and the warriors it's like Hey you know what we saw last year if he gets out of shape maybe it's not gonna be as good maybe it takes someone to get motivated and get going his offense was a very good last year but I suspect it will have the ball more wood to rant rod not being there this year and clay early on will be a facilitator more and be involved but I think from their standpoint with the limit is put it this way I think dream on maybe could have gotten more I think the war is maybe could have paid less but they both figured you know what this is a happy medium yeah we're both happy with this one we both get we want we get you for four more years three or four more years you don't have to wait till next year to get massively paid be still get twenty five million dollars a year we're showing you the respect in the love and I just think it works for everybody I think they both could that a little bit better maybe but who cares of both happy and they I I thought it was a fair deal may one dream on he wants to be there yep and it is in both parties very mind and the warriors best interest to not let it get into the season and is it gonna stay is gonna go in the store to get the trade rumors and all that kind of stuff that that is a benefit anybody and this is not a slam on Kevin Durant and how he handled his business but they've just gone through a couple of years of will he stay will he go what what does the future hold for us well there might be an air of uncertainty surrounding the war years because they're not as good as it used to be still good but not as good as they used to be well there might be some uncertainty there you still have when healthy three the best players on the planet run in the back for you so that called for that familiarity you would think it makes sense for dream on it obviously makes sense for the warriors this get this thing walked up and start to get ready for the future my question is how much do you think inform the player specifically drain mind and clay of what the future with their thinking about doing what they hope to do in terms of player acquisition in next year or the next couple years all these guys were in the contract because I would think if they have some indication as to what could happen you're more inclined to say I'll take less to stay here because that only is it comfortable but I think we got I know we got some good things coming up on the rise well I think they've already showed of that I don't think they're gonna run by willing Bob's call in clay and dream on and staff to run and run by what the options are and what they think that's not their job it's his job I also think it's good practice to to talk to your players and your best players on your team you don't just keep informed of what's going on you know way what do you guys think what do you guys the stuff like that but when it comes to like the daily minutia of the job I I don't think Bob Kahn them going Hey would you think about this play would think about that player I think they have a really good relationship that's Bob job did up to put together a good team and I think he's already proved that I I think there is a truck is a trusted yeah there's a trust from like Stephen Bob with the players on the court and I think there's got to be a trust from the players as far as with Steve still when he's coaching even if they don't agree with it all the time and there's a trust with Bob that Bob knows what he's doing the Bob Bob didn't try to put the best team on the court

"We want a guys thinking positively going into a situation where you know, if we lose we're going home. All right. And it was a building that was tough for us to play. Unfortunately for them. Draymond green got suspended. Okay. I think people point to that too much though, what as what dream on getting suspended. It's like, oh, they won because Draymond got suspended. Not Draymond does get suspended in the Cavs. Never win feel like well, we can say about any game like a ball bounce this way. Or that way. I mean, the also salted the brunt. Jay, that's crazy part about this. And this is what I tell people because I I hear that a lot too. And I'm like come on stop it. He played game six and seven. Yeah. Seven much of threes hail. Yeah. And now was an hour's another thing. Coach Lou did at halftime that game. He got on LeBron James because he wasn't playing well enough in Draymond green. Was you know, playing really really well. And and he told me he had to step up and shit. Second half, he stepped up and man that was the best Father's Day of my life bet. I bet man. I mean, we we popping champagne, and you know, I'm a big cigar guy. We have cigars, and it and it was just van. It was awesome. So okay. I want to talk about cigars. Yes. Not a cigar guy. No. Because I I I used to smoke cigarettes a long time ago. So I'm a natural inhaler. Okay. So I have trouble with that. Also, they're stinky they last too long. I I enjoy a cigar for like a minute and a half. And then I've just had enough. I start to feel sick and everything you're a cigar gang cigar guy. I I can leave here right now have lunch and just sitting a cigar lounge all day and watch TV. Oh, there's one on thirtieth street, you know, right on aids avenue. There you go. "Woke God. I got nothing. Let's kitchen. So what is? I got on a single man I've been doing this for. Oh my God. Steve Kerr wasn't feeling. The love last night. What I did there. He was Jack during a miserable fourth quarter for the warriors. The trailblazers crush Golden State won twenty nine one zero seven to end the warriors eleven game win streak and remarkably guys the warriors were up by one going into the fourth quarter. This thing fell apart this couple of stories here. Yeah. They were. They were the warriors. They trailed one ten one two three at the time that Draymond green got Jack. Did they got out score like one hundred and nothing after that? I just got by the second unit is well that they lost to. But the bigger story is listen, Golden State loss. Okay. Draymond green gets the gets the technical. And Steve Kerr, you always want to go through your coaches minds. Like, am I doing this for show? Do I not want to be out there anymore? My doing this. I got the back of my teammates lost his flip in mind. The video of it is fantastic. And throwing a clipboard all over the place. He gets tossed after the game Utah players talk about how much they love it. Kind of that bonding. Thing for a team that sometimes during the season has to look for something to bond about easiest group to hate in sports is the rats. It's always easy to galvanize a team around those guys are wrong. And so you'll you upgrade our guy to a flagrant run. I'll show you textbook clipboard toss by Steve Kerr. You can tell he's been doing this for a long time saving this one up. Putting in the man hours texts textbook husband moved by Steve Kerr afterwards when he was asked about it because his memory on exactly went down a little bit fuzzy.

"When this came up again after they lost in Houston in emphatic fashion. Draymond green was asked about it answered it well answered it respectively. Respectfully, we're going to go through everything will be fine. Whatever. K Kevin's katie's asked about this. What does he say don't ever ask me about it? Again. Didn't look we this. He is to me has become the single most unlikable star in sports. Part of it might be because of the way he left. Okay. See after he told everybody he loved their, Bubalo, must've, whatever. But then he went to them like he went to them that was part of it. But he has become a jerk. He's become incredibly unlikable with the media. He's got this tough guy persona that like is just it's not like like Draymond green can be unlikable at times. But then at times, you know, he's got this great smile in the sense of humor. And you're like, oh, yeah. Yeah. He's pretty cool. I got love to go have a beer to that guy. Kevin durant? Just shirk. And it's come across that way. Again. I don't sit here and say that Draymond should call him. You know, be word. But the point is like, dude, I know you're Katie. But I'm no slouch over here. I've hit bigshots I'm somewhat important in this basketball team that was winning a title before you ever got here like layoff public. Disrespect of me. I'm good with Draymond green in this deal. I don't think it's a big deal. However, you wanna look at it. We're November when they have the NBA finals in June. Yeah. All right. Yeah. Thinking about when when the NBA finals actually take place they're going for their third straight NBA title. Okay. You really think by then this is going to matter. You ROY think that these they wanna make if they want to keep this thing going, and they want to win a title and Draymond green been known to say things that get under player skin. Now, this is with a teammate. But if there's bad blood if you want to say that what's going to happen come to think about how far we are away the NFL dress late April this is June. The NFL draft will be long gone by the time, we get the NBA finals, and we're talking about whether this is going to be a factor with us basketball team. Are you kidding me? I don't know if it is or not I'm just looking at the here and now and just picking a side because. About nothing. You don't think this could cause a problem down the rest of the season. Hey, it's bad. But between us does it impact our show. I'll there's no bad blood between us. Oh, there's there's between you and Jimmy class and not us. What you break things up. For medicine irritate, the other person that creates bad blood. That's true. Bad blood Taylor swift best or I'll let me call you antagonised. Okay. That's what you are. Okay. But that that that makes it. You know, you just Johnny settling got me back to something here. One wonders great artists. Bad song. Bad blood swift. That was an app that bad blood within a rock group that had hit after hit. That's fine. But they were competing against anybody. Like, they weren't comp-. That's totally different there out bring up one Fleetwood. Not okay. But Fleetwood MAC turned out great song after great song. I'm saying they the some competing anybody like Like, you're you just just. yourself is what you're doing. No, you're not or you are a group grew to the warriors a group breaks up and all of a sudden that they splinter off, and they become solo accident would end that groups gone. If it happened that way. What do you mean there as a fan of music, you should understand that? No. I mean, I like I don't wanna see great groups split up because of friction, but a great group, even if there's friction or band is still going to turn out phenomenal hits. Whereas a great team if you've got one star starter and another star starter they can't play nice to one another. I think that's bound to at some point plus direction within a locker room and ruled never matter you disagree with that never mattered. I look back. You've always had teams that had players that have gone at it. And it never has impacted whether they want to championship or didn't..

"So you saying that one game suspensions a microcosm of how this could go where we're going to support Durant and all efforts if we can keep you you try to keep them in appease him. It's interesting. I look at this so many layers to this one I was at the game. Oh, man. I was on the other side of the court. I wish I would've switched my cease to hear is phone because I would report it every single word. This is interesting because Draymond green is absolutely worth the hassle. He's always been worth the hassle and a room for the gas needs eastern fire. And this boy is fire. He's the passion. He's the stir. He's the one who's going to go test them. He's going to be the one that brings everyone out of their skin out their comfort zones, but guess what to a greater place. Have they won three of the last four championships. Yeah. Has dryer. Mom been on the roster. Yeah. He's worth cost them a championship. He called him because of his immaturity. And it's amazing. We always talk about the incidence, but not the results. So we're going to now have a time line of issues with Jerry mongering. Well, he not gonna championship. How did he did? He win win it three LA brea bandied him, he kissed her ran to create this dynasty. So we're not going to give them proper credit, but we're going to go out there and give them into the mirror. He's a strong part of the foundation in the. Fabric of the organization wide turned around. The reason why it was a a great cured for Kevin Durant come near. However, if you want to keep him there, you gotta keep things on even Q in debt. Right. There was not cool. You know what I mean? And look you have you have your moments in the heat of the battle. You exchange words and heaven that confrontation is all about commod and winning. Then you move forward to me personally from outside looking in. I just don't see that being a resolve situation because it wasn't answer correctly. And Kevin Durant. He said he said, look, we just want focused on basketball moving forward. But is just the energy of this situation. Does didn't seem right. Let me let me add this Marcellus. My my take on this. I don't really have a problem with Draymond. I don't I really don't would Draymond issue though, is Kevin Durant softness. This guy is a little solved and dre mom plays too. Rough. And y'all were big kids. You remember plan with the other kids you'll same age? Mommy, like what you too big for that. Yes. You roughly ta. Stop all tours. That's Draymond issue. He plays to rough. Because to me when I look at this incident. I don't see anything there that I would be upset upset about twenty four hours later. I don't care what Draymond called him in the locker room or what was said here in this little confrontation. I would be over at the next day K D And built that way dre. Mom plays a little too rough Acadia. Oh, don't you dare try to twist this? Yeah. Yeah. You can see where you go. That ain't cool. Here's the real. Here's the world artists to levels to this one dream on. You ain't as thorough as you are advertise, you ain't as one hundred as you want to go out there. And professor, you know, why? Because I'll never see somebody who keeps it one hundred dole Rowley all the time. And then all of a sudden they explode because if you're thorough in all moments all encounters. There's no pinned up energy. There's no pinned up emotion. There's no now let me just unveil everything when Draymond on loaded on Kevin Durant. I think Kevin Durant and his brother realized, oh, you're the guy that wants to be the bully on the block. But in reality, you sitting there suppressing a lot of issues. Interesting. That's level one. Here's Kevin Durant. Real issue with dream on because he's sensitive a soft. He's like do Cincinnati got be but not earner account could be. But now because everybody is I look I I can't trust you and respect you. I'm talking basketball. My trust is that you're going to take this basketball one on one and take it the right way. So that's one issue. We're on a bitch. I'll just do pass the ball. You know, why I'm here right and dream on buck stat and then wants to yell at him. And here's why don't respect you. "Is after hours with Amy Lawrence. I'm tempted to use face palm Friday on all of you who are telling me you put catch up on things like your cereal. No, why why would you do that ever? Does. That mean, you put catch up in your milk, like cereal with milk and catch up. I'm dumb founded. I'm very very often. No, I'm hardly ever speechless as very often speechless. I'm so flustered. Now by the things that you put catch up on. Okay. We'll get to that. Some of you are I think making this stuff up, but it's interesting guess, it's after hours with Amy Lawrence on CBS sports radio the rockets rattled off twenty one consecutive points in the fourth quarter. And by this time, you've got Draymond and Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson to Andrea Gonzala and Steph curry on the bench making jokes because what else could you do. It's better to have them making jokes than it is to have them John at one another. They were not doing that. And the very first possession that resulted in a fast break for the warriors in Houston is actually when they were still in the game you add Draymond running the break three on one passing to Kevin Durant for a dunk. So on the court. They looked fine in practice. They were communicating that were high fives. I don't know whether or not everybody's over it. I would say more than likely not. If you're in Kevin Durant shoes. I would think it would if you're honest. It would take you maybe a while who knows how long couple of days a week when they have a long way to go. But it's not those comments from Draymond green. A bit. And he was taking shots at the guy. Now, if you apologize. That makes it a little easier. Right. Little easier to say, okay. He apologized. He asked for forgiveness. Now, it's up to me. This is of course, all mature adults. This is the Suming that they're all mature adults. So Draymond is speaking for the one and only time he says about what happened a few nights ago. And the fact that people are now pointing to this as the reason down the road in the future for why the warriors not only don't win another title. But why they break up the band. We're having.

"Frankly, no matter how they downplay it, and I wanted to too much on this because I did it all yesterday. But no matter how much they downplay it they suspended Draymond green for nothing. Short of tirade directed at Kevin Durant in full view of everyone in the world. And and now Marc spears reports this morning a question. I was very curious about that dream on may appeal the fine, which is not super unusual the union doesn't publicize when they appealed these fines that teams issue. It's happened. I I know of three or four incidents in the last let's say three or four years, which means there's certainly triple that. Probably. But I was very interested to see if he would do it to the point that I texted union whatever night it became clear. Not the the next night after the game when they suspended him because they were on a back back. I believe right, Atlanta, Atlanta, clippers Atlanta. So hey, you know, you guys can appeal this, right? Like, I just want to double check that you can appeal team teams. Just don't have unilateral authority to say, oh, we don't like the words. You said we're taking your game check. And they said, yeah, we're waiting to hear from Draymond and his people. It's it's always kind of tricky when it's a team thing and spears reporting today like they might do it. So now, I'm on high alert that would certainly be an interesting little subplot. Well, you know, this this hit me as well the other night because my or whenever the suspension was announced because my first thought was. Either. There's more way more to this or significantly more. Some other piece that we're missing or they've overreached by a long shot. Because in my experience, my recollection, my memory can be faulty. And by the way, you're here. A because I like you and be because you wrote the definitive Draymond green. Steve Kerr how these guys have you should look at it. So it's from last conference finals on Bleacher report how Draymond green and Steve Kerr have sort of learned to coexist in lift each other up. So I'm very interested to hear your take. Well, all right. So there, and we'll we'll get to that part of it. Because I do think that maybe that the themes that I hit on that story. Maybe have implications for how this thing goes forward with with dream on and Kevin Durant..

"Of the two atoms. If you wanna tell us apart Joe, George behind the glass, and we get you started in our number two of two here on a Tuesday night rockets trying to salt away and other victory on the season there in Denver right now in the fourth quarter. They lead it ninety five eighty nine. We talked about them last segment quite a bit. Another NBA story that I wanted to get into. And I'm just gonna kinda bump it up to the front of the line because it's fascinating to me. And I said this at the top of the show wax. The only way the warriors don't continue to dominate in rip off titles, right and left is well, there's really two ways, and they're kind of both apply to this story turmoil from within and or players scattering to the wind because they can't afford them. All or some other reason Klay Thompson, for example, has basically gone on record as many times as he paused. Couldn't say said I wanna stay here. I want to finish my career as a warrior Steph curry, obviously has said the same thing. And then you have the other two of the big four if you want to call them that Draymond green and Kevin Durant. Kevin durant? Obviously, a free agent coming this summer, and it was kind of just assumed that he would come back to the warriors for a long time. But now there's rumblings out there. And now that LeBron has switched coasts, or at least conferences and everything else that has fallen into place over the last couple of seasons since Kevin Durant reupped with the warriors. How would you know? Kevin Durant going somewhere else? Look, how would that affect, you know, the the power struggle in the in the NBA because of course, the warriors were doing just fine before he got there. But now he's there, and you have this situation the other night where you know, the warriors and the clippers go into overtime primarily because Draymond green. Screw things up on the final few seconds of the regulation and Kevin Durant him got. Into it away from the floor on the floor away from the floor. But apparently this still over into the locker room afterwards. And I just listened to Adrian wars Rousey because you know, is reporting on it. It's a big deal. Listen to Adrian wars, you're asking breathlessly talk about this soap opera that unfolded after the game be suspended without pay. And that's in the aftermath of what happened on the court between he and Kevin Durant last night, and then it spilled over into the locker.

"We follow each other on Twitter about. All right. Very cool. Win against the pelicans Draymond green was asked about winning defensive player of the year to which he responded, I need that. I need that bad. I need that real bad. I need that really really really bad. He would also get a huge payback. If he wins another defensive player of the year. So guys fill in the blank three months chances at winning Depor are blank, I'm writing a novel here. What do you got? I'll go good. But what has to happen? Thing. It's very hard to win defensive play. If your team doesn't good. Good defense. And right now the warriors the thirteenth, but I think that's going to improve on the floor that are about fit. And I think Steve knows that that defense needs to tighten up. So I think over the course of the season it will improve and dry. We'll get a lot of credit for that. Because we know we know the test says Draymond green is a brilliant defendant. Statistically, it's not in his favor right now. But I think it will improve thing is the lowest person the lowest defensive writing for team for the play to win defensive play. The fan was Marcus Camby in two thousand seven when eleven so you and nowadays you've got to be even higher, and that's exactly I'm doubling down on basically what you all. Just said right there hit his chances all depend on his team. Just being better defensively. He's in all world defensive player if his team is top five like they were when he wanted to years ago that you talked to them, then it makes sense. It'll be in the running again. That's why I don't think he's gonna win it below average. Because this is the year. The warriors defense takes a dip. They want to in a row three and four they're winning on the offensive end with all those crazy shots not going to happen. All right. When we come back, Laura. Team brise or fry even you lead. "And I'm pretty sure you can tell me who I'm missing because I'm trying to do this free. Stop of course. So now, what makes all of those guys different? Draymond green is unique because as a goddess primarily defending players closer to the basket. He doesn't have the highlight level of rejections. He doesn't have like the loud plays where he gets a steal. He gets. Block. He goes coast to coast, and then somebody throws him a lot or he goes down. And he pulls up a three a up three without any passes. So Jaylen those right lane. He doesn't tell to handle somebody. You're making a great. This. Beasley isn't loud, it gets overlooked. But that doesn't mean it's not quantifiable because we're in twenty eight and they kinda count everything is a stat. He leaves the league he's tied with Jimmy Butler in deflections and loose balls recovered. Also leaves the league in contested three pointers. We're talking about Draymond green. He's not a guard. Lease lean contested three point is also leads the league in box out. They say these things don't show up in the box score. But in twenty eight team, you can't quantify these things, which is one of the reasons that I think that Draymond green is the best defender in the game and will win defensive player of the year, and I'll continue to campaign for him to do. So because I wanted to get his money. Draymond green. Absolutely. And also, so very uniquely office of now, you gave me examples that I can now use hopefully to unpack it for some of the people that don't realize his impact. How unique James harden is as a player that could lead the league in three pointers made and attempted as well as free throws. Normally, that's two different people. This is what you just said about Draymond green normally guys. They get box outs. Is it the goddess contested at three exactly those this twenty four feet away from each other? So that's how unique both of those guys. Tracking the domestic dust bunny. You come to find them hiding under wardrobes next to soaks due to. Scurry off. "Love with the three oftentimes spells doom for nba playoff contenders it does the facts in the history bear that out right now when you look at the golden state warriors they are the exception not the rule they are the exception not the rule go back through the last twenty nba champions they are very much the exception and not the rule and it's because the warriors are uniquely talented and uniquely skilled they do have some of the best 3point shooters in the league but they also have guys that are willing to get down and dirty and play in the paint and do the dirty work i'm sorry but draymond green and zaza pachulia our guys straight out of the 80s and there's a reason why zaza still has a job in the nba because he's willing to be the dirty guy he's willing to make the plays that nobody else was willing to make he's willing to go out there and be a guy nobody likes draymond green would that ship that he plays on you think that the golden state warriors and their love of the three would win with the eu's in which they win especially in the playoffs if they didn't have a guy like draymond green that's willing to get under the skin of the opposition a little elbow here and there yet a little dirty here and there that's why that team wins because they got the right balance to their finesse players so while there for this players get all the credit yet all the highlights it's the guys that do the dirty work that ultimately lead that team to victory teams that rely heavily on the three generally don't succeed in the nba.

"How i don't understand why you know uh and you know in the in the process itself uh none of the players that rhonda the top fifteen pigs or were within the top fifteen picks of the markgraaff would work out against me it for the people who don't understand the draft process you know there are the the individual workouts were three or four guys five or six guys some times will go to a team of workout against each other in the value wait that's their more thorough process for what you did in college sometimes they put you through more mba type workouts they implement the shot clock different things like that and uh none of the guys in the top fifty will workout against me so for example i was working out against draymond green i went to four or five different draft workout and it was me in draymond green and mike scott every time now our group so you know a lot of people don't don't realize that put on draft night i'm sitting here thinking to myself how is draymond green not in the top 10 you see those say that's that's the more real version of of how when you're actually involved in it and you actually play the game versus the people who are broker in in the people that are covering it you know these this is how we really feel like when i heard that isaiah thomas with sixtieth bumps latin myself and ahead like wait a minute does this mean that almost no team wants them s that's out of control to be so you know the fact that i had an anxiety of that have been talked about as a risk or as negative just added to what was uncertain times for all of those players you know and they just made me more upset because i just come from proving that the anxiety that they were talking about isn't a risk that's why my team defeated the reigning champion yukon that's why my team gave kentucky run forced money that's why i was able to outplay three players that were drafted in front of me.
