"I actually put off a workout. I thought I was gonna have time to ride the bike like I normally do on Mondays and I was so busy answering phone calls and making phone calls and then responding to emails and trying to get set these next two weeks are They're pretty jammed full in sports as we ramp up to the NFL draft. Of course, that's a week from Thursday. But then just seeing what's happening in the N B a in the NHL, realizing we're only a handful of weeks away from the start of the playoffs, the normally we'd be in the playoffs at this time of the year, but because they've been pushed back because the start of both Hoops and hockey were pushed back. The playoffs are pushed accordingly. And yet, here we are in the space where normally it's nut, so right and we have a chance to kind of catch up after March Madness after the Masters, Of course, everything that's happened in the NFL since the start of the new league here, it's It's interesting. It's different. I'm having. I wouldn't think trouble, but I'm having to adjust my brain a little bit in my sports calendar, but Man T to be able to see what's playing out on the court in the ice. Really phenomenal and there are some good races Division races playoff races that will carry us through this next month. It's after hours with Amy Lawrence on CBS Sports Radio. We're live from the rocket mortgage studios. When you need an expert to help navigate the home loan process, rocket can step off a screen right sideline fades and fired. He got another one. Staff Curry. He's on a different level. He's playing in a different universe and the rest of the MBA. I don't know what else to say. You know, you guys ask, Ask me after every game. What I think of of scabbing his performance and it's Whatever I said last year and just use that tonight, Steve Kerr running out of superlatives for one Steph Curry even as the highlights air on TV in front of me in my CBS Sports radio studio, So as I ask you what athlete gives you foam. Oh, right now. For me. It's Steph. He is killing it. Steph Curry Fire is a different level than everyone else's fire, and I don't want to be the only one who doesn't see it. Who's left out of this conversation. So find me on Twitter. A low radio answer the question. They're also on our Facebook page. We're gonna put a spot up and to that end with so much happening in the NBA. We welcome Kurt healing from Los Angeles. Who is the lead MBA writer and editor for NBC sports dot com. Alright, Wild Night in the association Kurt what jumps out at you after this Monday night? A couple of things. First of all, I think Nicole Yokich Solidifies his M V P case. I mean, he's probably the front runner now. But 47 in the double overtime game is that you still need two men VP moments in a in a season, and I think he's That kind of clutch performance is that you know it was critical in there. Come back. He was critical in the fourth quarter and the overtime on doing it without Jamal Murray. Hey, needed He needed a game or two like this down the stretch. Just tol Keep everybody else it, babe. Because everybody everybody wants to create drama and me like, Oh, Joelle and beat Look to Ellen Beals Been dominant, You know, you could go down the list. You know, LeBron will be back and then that conversation will start up again. Um, but at the end of the day yolks, which is not only a front runner, but you know, it's nights like this that help him out that one. And by the way, the other one is that I think that Steph Curry guys gonna be pretty good. Yeah, well, I'm glad you said staff because that was gonna be my follow up. Question. How close would you say The gap is and in the N v P for Yokich took hurry. There's just a little bit of what holds curry back. Is that the lawyers? I believe currently the ninth seed in the West, you know they're going to finish. 89 10, you know and being that play in tournament and it's really hard to win the N V. P from that far back. I mean, Russell Westbrook did it from six and he averaged a triple double for the season. I just think that that's not And it's not really a knock on curry. I mean, obviously, this is a team without Clay Thompson and with Draymond Green is there but they don't have Shaun Livingston and Andre would Allah and you know it wasn't completely hell. Good. Harrison Barnes was for them and Andrew Bogan. The guys. These veteran players they could trust that helped lift into it out. They've got James Wiseman and Kelly you bray and you know the Andrew Wiggins. He's been better since the All Star break. But, you know, still Andrew Wiggins, who shows up every you know sporadically. It just is not the same team around him, so I think he's done the best you can, and he's going to get votes. He could end up on the bottom of ballots. But he just tastes not gonna be able to win it from from the nine spot the Golden State Warriors right now sitting at 500, though they've scuffled to get back to even it's after hours with Amy Lawrence and Kurt Healing Who's the lead NBA writer for NBC sports dot com. When you look at the Jazz and the Sun's on top of the Western Conference on we saw what the sons did last year in the bubble. Then they added Chris Paul. They've been this kind of cool story and then the jazz to a really stayed on top of the West. How dangerous are they to the defending champion Lakers? Well, first off, I think The sons will start. There were a fantastic story, like just the way that they've come together and kind of grown this year under Chris Paul, the way Bridges has made leaps and he had a huge shot tonight. Um, just, um, DeAndre eight and has become, you know That's a lot of weight to be the number one pick right? That's a lot of weight on your shoulders to be that guy, and he started to look more like it on both ends of the court this year, and all that said..

"And if you are at home or anywhere you have a smart speaker or you have to do is ask it to play. CBS Sports Radio. Now. We talked about the business of sports. We talked about all of the money that's moved around. We talked about European Super League's We talked about the NFL Major League Baseball, the N B. A But now it's time to talk about. The player in the NBA right now, who was making the most money this season. His name is Steph Curry $43 million. And it's crazy. Okay, 43 What's 43 to 35? He's making a lot of money. But there is not an NBA player right now. Who is at the level. Steph Curry. This exact minute. Steph Curry is the best player in the NBA. He's a two time NBA A M V P He's a three time NBA champion. He is the best shooter who has ever played the game. And even right now, he has taken his game to another level that makes absolutely no sense. If you have a chance to watch a Steph Curry game. You do it right now, because what you are seeing is something that you may not ever see again in your life by another player. The reality is this is what took place tonight. The Golden State Warriors beat the 70 Sixers won all 7 to 96. The Warriors actually have a record right now off 500. This is crazy. Let's keep in mind. Clay Thompson is not there. Draymond Green. He's playing with Andrew Wiggins. He's not He's not playing with anybody right now. No disrespect, but they know all stars out there with Steph Curry. You know who's going to have the ball and what they're going to do. And so tonight, Steph Curry scores 49 points. He was 10 of 17 from three. He has been losing his mind since he returned from his broken tailbone or Excuse me. His injured tailbone. Fell in the stands. Right now this minute. Tonight. He has 11 straight games with 30 or more points. Tied with Kobe Bryant for the most by any player 33 year older. He also has the longest 30 point Game Street by any Warriors player since Wilt Chamberlain. He had his 5th 40 point game here in April. He's just knocking down threes at a ridiculous clip. And for a shooter. I just spoke to super producer stew callbacks about this. Still, we talked about this during the break. I'm looking at Steph Curry's his last score. Just just think about its points. 49 47 33 42 53 38 But then you look at his shooting percentage is just as an overall. This is a man shooting. For the month. 55%. He has a game where he shot 70% from the field. 60% 67. He is playing out of his mind stew. He is. Yes, Some of those numbers like like you referred to. It's like it's a big man. It's like a guy just shooting layups and dunking and shooting. You know three ft from the basket, not 35 ft. From the basket like he's shooting it. It's unbelievable and When he he takes his shots that are crazy shots and well covered shots and they go in. It's he's just playing in an unreal level right now, and it's like I said, Everybody knows He's going to have the ball the starting lineup tonight for the Golden State Warriors, Steph Curry, Loony Wiggins, Bayes, Moor and Draymond. All right. Steph Curry is going to have the ball. Steph Curry is gonna put up shots and there's nothing anybody can do about it. Even even over the weekend. The Golden State Warriors. They played the Boston Celtics, but between Steph Curry, this is one game that they lost recently. The Warriors have been on a hot streak because of stuff Curry. They lost to the Celtics. Both him and Jason Tatum. They're just trading baskets. Jason Tatum. He talked about his scoring duel with Curry. All he had to do or Lee could do was show him love. Was seen to big performances. I was glad that we got the win, but Obviously, you know, just Yeah, I just wanted to, uh, you want all the time greats and, uh, just there in his respect and get a win on the same night? Good night. Yeah, He's one of the all time greats. He has 73 pointers. In a 10 game span. That's the most by anybody in NBA history. And yes, you can legitimately say Well, everybody takes more threes. Sure. But even if you think about scaling his numbers Even if you think about what he's doing, generationally, or if you wanted to apply his numbers or tone them down. What he is doing still makes no sense. There isn't a singular player right now. In the league. Anywhere. Who's close to what Steph Curry is doing. Nothing. Even Nikola Yokich. And tonight the Denver Nuggets. They beat the Memphis Grizzlies and over time 1 39 to 1 37 Yokich. Numbers are Off the war 47 points. 15 rebounds. Eight assists. He played out of his mind. He's one of the best. You would say that Nikola Yokich is in the lead for M v P. Well, let me put it to you this way. If the Golden State warriors continue like this, or Steph Curry continues like this stuff Curry is gonna win another M v p The Warriors right now are in the ninth place of the standings. If you forgot seems 7 to 10 in the standings. They're gonna have an opportunity to play their way. And so the playoffs, they have a plan. And if the Warriors I don't care If they get in the playoffs, it doesn't matter if it's the eighth seed. It's Steph Curry is even doing a fraction. Of what he's doing. Right now He's winning the M V P Nikola Yokich. Everybody else can kiss it Goodbye because Steph Curry is a man on fire right now, and there's not a damn thing anybody can do. Over the weekend before tonight's game, where he scored another 49 points against the sixes and Philly. Steph Curry was asked. Is this the best stretch of your career? Statistically, it is for sure this is the seasons required a little bit. You know something different. Trying to meet that moment ship on phone brand of basketball is trying to put wins together with I've been blessed with a very you know. Special skill set that I'm trying Tol Gina, Master and hone and Get better at And.

"6 40 to go 82 81. How do you think Draymond green to take? What Kevin Durant said when he's naming the top five players has ever played with an easily rattled off James Harden. Easily said also, Kyrie Irving then said Steph Curry then, said Clay Thompson and then said Sergio Baca before getting reminded you play with Russell Westbrook. If you're Draymond green. Now. You can't Compete with staff. You can't compete with clay. You can't compete with James, and you can't compete with Russell with Russell Westbrook. Like if we were going through that On and like you. Look at it. I like Kyrie. Obviously carrier Draymond. There's no debate. It's Carrie. James Harden a dream on it's obviously James Harden. Step for Dream on. It's obviously Steph Curry Choir Dream on. It's obviously clay. You know? How does he go to Before forgetting what? Russell Westbrook remember. Russell Westbrook, Russell Westbrook Jamon. It's clearly Russell Westbrook, he said before he was reminded that he played with Russell Westbrook. Just that was such a weird thing to say. How does Draymond Green probably feel about Sergio Baca? No back has a nice player. Don't get me wrong. I don't think he's an underrated player. Came out Green is one too defensive Player of the Year awards. I think it is. How do you How do you if you're Draymond green? Take that trace that Sergio Baca. According to Katie was brought up before before you were you won't even mentioned here. I mean, think about surgery Baka and one defensive player of the year for Jamie, By the way, That was a big thing. I went off a few weeks ago just popped into my head that he only won one defensive play the embodies the greatest defensive player of all time. If you ask him, he just said, I mean, in his music, Great defensive player of all time. So how can you have? I mean, forget search back. I get for their players ahead of him. So he's pissed that, you know, higher E and harder than stuff. He thinks he's probably number one stop. All right. Five high number two. I'm sure he has respect for her for Steph. Well, so you know what steps number one. I'll be number two now. Sergio Baca. Here is kind of You know you got a Wikipedia career Highlights NBA champion. Three time NBA all defensive team, two time blocks leader except a very solid career. Right? Top five players. That means he's six then, right? He would be six. Whatever goodwill I guess, says the baby bumps up and then he said, I put clay back to five. Surges six and then his dream on seven. I would hope so right? I mean, that might not even go over. Well, remember all the good will they had like Fuchs go doing the podcast time. All the place is soft. Might not be another podcast window. Yeah, come on. Katie's not Lady and petty there, too. Had a Baka thing. See now on Lee. People are looking at this at the Westbrook angle because that's the obvious submission. You Baka thing, I also think is a shot at dream on to remember you. Rianna me. You got suspended dream on Already let me give you my top 10 picks in this draft for a Mach 10. He's gonna be my official predictions that are subject to change. Ready. These are the official predictions for today, 10 days out. Down next week. I may give you something else. Number one Jaguars Trevor Laurence, number two Jet Zach Wilson. Now we actually start the draft 40 Niners. This is the first week where I've started to question if it's going to be Mack Jones, because that's what I've just been told. Trace. You're still on the Justin Field trade right after I ask you this question of every day I am all right out of my own pride and believing what I heard. First, I'm gonna still say Mack Jones go story. Falcons, and therefore this is what I'm really starting to feel good about it. Gonna take Kyle pits. Angles at five. They're going to Mar Chase Broncos at six are trading up. Dolphins, who were originally at three traded back to 12 and traded back up to six are going to make one more trade and they're gonna go back to nine. Broncos are gonna come up and get Justin Fields. Then at seven. The line's gonna taken offense alignment today. Soul out of Oregon. We're going to see back to back offensive lineman Panthers would take for Shawn Slater. Imagine if train Lance is there. I don't think they're taking a quarterback, though, because of the fact that they drafted Sand Donald or they traded for Sam Donald. Then nine. Miami who traded back is going wide receiver that could go jail a model. I think that the Vontae Smith, the better wide receiver, so they taken Devante Smith and then 10. I'm giving you one more trade. New England Patriots trading up. They're taken. Trey Lands quarterback. North Dakota State Jaguars warrants Jet Zach Wilson, 40. Niners MAC Attack. Falcons pets. Bangles, Jamaar Chase Broncos Fields and a trade lines. Panthers back to back Belly to Belly Offensive lineman Stolen Slater Miami Devante Smith Patriots trey lands. Not a single defensive player in that. And even though I was starting to get a little bit worried about four, you know on Lee it being four quarterback to the top that I ended up finding a way to get five in there. There's a two big questions that I had well defensive player in the top 10. How many quarterbacks in the top 10? Let's get the closing bell. Another.

Lakers Fall to Knicks as Turnover Problems Persist

"My goodness they put on a passage clinic tonight in how not to throw a post-entry pass. They threw the ball everywhere but where it needed to go in that was sure frustrating. Yeah, and you know the Knicks they are they are incredible defensive team actually and you know, it's kind of it's it's nice to see Julius Randle playing so well off the same time. You don't like to see him. Obviously, you know, this was the Julius Randle Revenge game. We had kind of made reference to that in a really kind of turned into that. But yeah, as far as the big man Montrezl Harrell Draymond Green were effectively almost neutered and I I mean, I texted one point Rez looked like he was getting abused by Taj Gibson, you know, and you know, they were they just thought I'd like to you know, one point in me if the games to Lance was doing commentary. I don't know if you got that version, but I wouldn't like to see if the Lakers went really small to counteract the what they were doing on the interior, but then right after school and said that actually Frank Vogel decided to bring Casal and so for mantra so they went the the other route blood no matter what we looking at the page. Whole game I'm I personally I know a lot of people might be upset. But I personally am giving the Lakers actually a pass on this one and

Chris Broussard: LeBron is right, KD, Warriors Big 3 were better than Nets

"Asked about playing in next week's free for the first time on thursday. Lebron james pump the brakes on calling it. An unprecedented collection of talent reminding reporters quote. We forgot about katie. Stephan play. already. I mean there you go there you go right there of course lost back to back finals to the warriors big three that he referenced right then i first sard is back joining us. I don't think so chris. Do you agree with the brown hair. Well i i'm guessing that skip sensors and alterior motive. Oh i won't go there. I'll be interested in seeing what he says. But i'm going with the golden state guys staff clay and and i've got five reasons why number one the pieces fit together better when those three katie went to golden state. We had no questions about whether or not it was going to work because none of the guys are ball dominant. None of them needed the ball in their hands. A lot to be effective and give you twenty plus points. Obviously james harden and car. We have been bald dominant dribble it a lot which can make it more difficult to fit together now. They're fitting together great offensively but theoretically there games are a lot more ball dominant. Golden state guys to golden state was better defensively. And i'm not just talking about draymond green. Who's not even part of this conversation. You add katie. Who was younger and i. I'm sure it was a better defender at that point. Then he can be at this point a little older often an achilles injury and then klay thompson was a legitimately very good defender. He made an all nba. Defensive team steph obviously is in the category of harden and kyrie. None of them are really great defenders. The third thing better shooters as well as hard and kyrie shoe. And they are great shooters steph. Curry is the best shooter in nba history. So good that he changed the game. He literally changed the way the nba is played because he's such a great shooter and clay is arguably arguably the second greatest shooter of all time again that enables you to fit better together and certainly for today's game the better shooters i mean. That's a huge thing. You have fourth no drama. They they they were low maintenance guys in golden state k. d. had a little drama but for the most part that's a low maintenance group in brooklyn i i love his game but i gotta worry about kyrie. He was playing great at the beginning of the season. And then all of a sudden just went awol. Is that going to happen again. Is going to be happy. The entire season playing shooting guard. Or will he get the rich to have the ball in his hands more again even last night. Why was car sitting out. They said back tightness. But i bet you replace the next five games and is fine and plays great like they need to be on the floor as much as possible. I can't be legitimately injured hamstring but kyrie hard and they don't need to be just sitting out to rest are so the drama a is there. And here's the final thing steph and clay before k. got there. They proved that they could lead a team to a championship. They proved they didn't need this transcendent lebron or k. d. or somebody like that to lead them to a championship. They didn't need a stack team. They did it on their own k. D. was certainly the best player on those golden state teams but he went to a champion. Already he is still yet to prove. He can lead his own team to a championship. Even though it was the best player kyri hit one of the greatest shots in nba. History may be the greatest. But obviously that was lebron's team. Kyrie has have much playoff success without lebron james yet and we know harden has yet to prove that he can lead a team to a championship. So for all those reasons. I'm going with golden state

"Other than the first three is going to finish at five hundred if not to come on. I know they're all beating up on each other. This is a weird season but we are going to get some buying. We're going to get at least one. Other team that squeaks over five hundred knees maybe to let me say this though and this is why i will go to the league. And say hey. Let's put the top sixteen teams in the league. Ringer wise on here. We go that. What are you gonna get the best sixteen teams and then you're going to see who's really the best in the world because there's been years where i've seen a team over five hundred not make the playoffs. So let's get the best sixteen teams. Let's put them in the pool and say that's our one through sixteen record wise no matter conference and let's see who the best in the nba says that commonsense wise. I think any basketball fan would say yes. We s we want. Paul we want that but the reason why it hasn't happened is you need. What two thirds three quarters of the board of governors to approve that change and so you would be asking eastern conference team owners to basically vote themselves out of all of that playoff money that they would get if it stayed in the just east and west. You see that ever happening zach. I know you home games. Boo probably not. But you know what i what is it. I can't remember it's a lot. Get your lottery. Pick both that and for some of the coastal teams. This is really a blood issue for them. They don't want chris. They don't want that crisscrossed. The country career four times during the playoff front. So i've given up all hope of this ever happening. Frankly it's crazy because it is just practically feels like it makes so much sense. It is interesting when you look at all this by the way the schedule is different this year. Right we only have seventy two games and so you have teams playing one last game against the teams inside their conference. Eastern conference teams used to play one more additional game against the worst teams in the eastern conference. They aren't able to pad their record with that anymore. This is some of what we're seeing. It is eye-popping three teams. Only three in the east above five hundred Closing belts that market call. Today we will be back with another addition soon coming up. We're talking a little more nets. Sent a franchise record for threes. Made kyrie drop forty rarely with.

Do Positions Even Matter Anymore?

"Now i'm joined by yahoo serious so he and she wrote this article about draymond green. She wrote an article about the idea. That draymond green is almost a position unto himself that now new players come into the league or filling in so i wanna talk to her about that and i thought it was a fascinating piece because you identified a bunch of guys use value. I think are were only just now starting to understand so before we get into our conversation about like positions and howard thinking about positions in the league across the board. Just tell me a little bit. About what attracted you to this idea in the first place like was there a big bang moment that you were like i think i ll adore is also part of this yet actually was I was watching. I was watching the rockets take on the thunder in the playoffs. And there are a few moments where statement just couldn't close out on pj talker. Who's obviously pointing the five. And then they had to madore at the five and he's six four was already crazy. The pj tucker six five center was starting and that was a response to that. It was a natural response and it was the right response. Underplayed way better with him at the five and they went away from it. Which is i think why they lost the series and it was just kind of interesting to me you know. You didn't have a workers in the playoffs. But stephen adams is being squeezed on both sides. He just can't get away from this thing. That dream on started like on one end. It's we can't defend on the other end like there's there's this young guy who's coming for a spot and he watched even again. We're gonna talk about this later. But if you watch stephen adams now not exactly fitting offense. No i mean. I almost wonder whether or not steven adams was like an enormous tax locker room. Guy like that that he was brought in. Now you can almost make the argument that he's there to give veteran leadership and just like established like a certain culture at the pelicans. Because obviously encore doesn't really work the way. I don't buy that at all veteran leadership. I can these signs of guys and then they're like yeah. That'll that'll play well. They had drew holiday last year. They found jj radic for the past two years. They have veteran leader. Sure especially since. I feel like grip is also read coyotes piece earlier this week. Try to roll bledsoe into that as well as like. No no no you guys go up bledsoe on the back end of that deal. Because that's we got. I see what they were trying to do. Which is like they have like the young guys and then they have like this mix of old guy so that young guys never turned into the wolves and wind up not knowing how like which way is up and all but they're only like a few steps better than the wolves to host stephen adams this much money also the wolves beat down. Yes that's true. How are they really. They made the wolves. Look real smart on offense. Yes which is impossible so wanted to ask you about this idea that i've been thinking about especially as regards to ben simmons which i think has become like a little bit of an obsession of mine this season. But it's like where is he appropriately situated on the court. There's like the physical like. Where does he stand part. And then there is the conceptual like do we think of him as a point guard. Do we think of a four or are we starting to introduce like a certain new kind of lexicon of the way we think about players. Like whether it's the dunker or like a cook cling cappella roller or a guy. Who is you know. There's all sorts of a huge constellation of terms. We use. Is that a better way to think about these guys in does change their value at all. Because i thought like your idea here that the draymond is almost a new position. Now you could look for was fascinating and there's no question to me that it changes the value of the players of one of the things. I noticed while reporting that article was just the fact that once you name something you start seeing it everywhere like tournament use that you see in life all the time and it was. It was pointed to detrimental. These guys because they were doing things in the court and a lot of the people i talked to. Just one of the things to that stuck out was scouts. Were just like you. Just don't don't doubt winning. If the guy has contributed to winning plays this was this was wrong. One of the college scouts said scouted grant williams. So if the guy's making winning plays don't outsmart yourself just because you can't find a way to put it in a box. It's probably something that you don't quite understand yet just because you can't understand it doesn't mean it's not effective in that definitely plays a role with a lot of guys in the league. So yeah tha t to that point a changes your changes your value just because like this league is a lot more because a lot more than i think people realize it. A lot of people are out to win. Press conferences in if you can't quite explain what you're going for with certain player. I think it makes it harder for you to recognize. It also makes it harder for you to sell which matters on every level matters when you're scouting and you're trying to convince your head coach your your gm or somebody else and then for the gm. It's like trying to convince the owner. Then you know that's gonna be that's gonna be defined the depending on the franchise you are. Some of that is going to be defined by the media will perceive a certain selection to Be it's interesting. i think i'm kind of. I'm kind of going to this place whereby my pet theory now watching the heat watching the sixers has become that you can. You're allowed to have if you really smart. And if the other shooters are andrew or really good they can make plays. You're allowed to have two guys. That aren't very good shooting on the court

The Golden State Warriors Path to Regain Glory

"Hello hello pablo. I am so excited to talk to you today. Because you have been digging into the golden state warriors and you've talked to their players. Their coaches their executives. But i want to know what other people are curious about. They hear that you're writing a future on the warriors. What did they want to know can still work can steph curry dragged his team by the scruff of its neck into the playoff field. Can they approximate without klay thompson. Kevin durant gone even a glimmer of what they were during their dynasty. And that's what people wanna know. And at the center of all of this kevin this week in particular is steph curry and we can't begin this conversation without talking about what he did specifically on sunday night. How would you describe what you saw. It was a volcano curry leads. In one hand or just off balance grows it up. It's good he's got fifty. Career screen takes a deep free. It's god fifty nine points. Curry takes another three. It's up job. He's got sixty two just unspeakable three point attempts that no person with a good conscience ever a nation of basketball coaches is freaking out. Because they're going to have fourteen year olds in practice pulling up from thirty seven feet. There was the sense coming out of their very met to into road trip. That steps showing few signs he might. It's gonna happen. It may happen. Don't you think it's going to happen. He's starting to move differently. We're starting to find him. The ball and places he likes it and as draymond green said to somebody on the staff. All it takes is one in. We saw that one sunday night against portland and essentially recreated the steph. We knew for those five years over the dynasty. Let's be clear about what the prelude to that career high sixty two was because he was shooting. What like twenty percent from three in those first two games so when people are begging hoping for that volcano to start shaking again. Why do you think it actually ended up exploding as it did. I mean one is just the laws of inevitability second is in your staff. They all emphasize this. And it sounds a little bit like spin. If you're if you're sort of cynical which is look. He's playing with guys that he's never played with before. But when you really start digging into it and you remember what it was like to watch the weird they don't run scripted sets all that much mall. Those great beautiful plays that you see that. Look like basketball ballet. They use intuition. They use a million reps playing together to sort of know where everybody's going to be almost telepathically on the floor. And so you've seen that a million times steph. Runs comes off a pick and roll. He gives the ball up. He relocates to the corner other people kind of follow him there. Somebody comes off the other side and then steph kind of relocates again and you find him and it's so second nature if you watched it for five straight years you come to take it for granted but if the other guys on. The floor aren't versed in the dark arts of golden state warriors movement. It's harder and it was something that i think other teammates. The new guys andrew wiggins kelly oubre rookie. James wideman guys. Who haven't played as long with him. It takes a little while to get in the rhythm. There was like a moment. I think in the milwaukee their second loss of the season where you saw step come off one of those speaking roles and he was going to kind of go fast too slow to the right corner and there was somebody there right and it wasn't the fault of a teammate. It's just they're not equipped with the intuition and just the nuances of golden state warriors basketball. Which essentially is how do we find steph. The right shot at the right moment at the right time precisely where he wants it. It's funny

Kevin Durant dominates in long-awaited Brooklyn Nets debut

"Let's start with because this was let's say a nice present for everybody, right? C l smooth this is, um you get Kevin Durant. In his debut with the Nets, and I mean, what did you make of that performance? Eyes to things. I think number one. You look at what Kevin Durant the way he was able to play. Um, it was pretty much again his look like her but healthy. His explosion has returned. But then also it was a little caution because the Golden State Warriors as much as we thought that they were going to be this back to normal type of situation, obviously losing Clay Thompson But they had so many deficiencies. I don't know if it was really Ah, great test. I think that on the on paper, it looks good. And maybe for the first, maybe first quarter attended 12 minutes. You kind of said Hey, but I think Derwent was remarkable. They pretty much got every shot that he wanted. I just would have loved to have seen a situation perhaps, and Draymond green was out there and healthy. He was out there to be able to, you know, again, Place in solid defense. Aundre on Kevin Durant, but make no mistake. If you are Ned stand, and I think if you're a fan of Eastern Conference basketball, you could be very, very excited about the potential of a Durant and carry urban to go on with those other pieces in Brooklyn should be had been able to have a phenomenal

Warriors' Klay Thompson Reportedly Suffers Season-Ending Torn Achilles Injury

"Back here on this developing story. The news from the nba yesterday was not good hours before the draft klay thompson injuring his right leg during a workout with several nba in ally. He will undergo an mri this morning. The warriors are worried that it could be chilies injury holding out hope. It's not as serious as that. But if you're reading the tea leaves on social media all the reaction that seemed to be coming in. Yesterday it sounded very pessimistic. And so here's the great jalen rose with me here. I see the look on your face. What is your reaction. What what would this mean if this is a bad injury. I'm just really disappointed for clay in. this family. Hopefully is not a torn achilles. Which is being reported. I just remember seeing kevin durant with ice on his calf but ended up having an achilles injury. And it's really unfortunate. Because with the splash brothers healthy with draymond green. And you draft wise men the golden state warriors. We're going to catapult themselves back into contention greenie now without klay thompson. They'll be lower-half playoff team potentially in the western conference and now that he's had achilles injury is potentially in back to back seasons. We now start looking at the future of their team. Wondering ken bay now recapture championship glory. So it was really unfortunate for the golden state warriors and their fans if particularly going into the draft last night. No question about it so all. We'll do we'll sit and we'll hope for better news than some are anticipating and we should have that in a few hours

Do Lakers deserve an asterisk for 2020 championship run?

"Got mentioned Perc said, no Asterix Brian Windhorst are ESPN NBA insider on the hoop collective podcast whether he thinks this title and remember he's been around Lebron longer than anybody that's been covering him whether this title is free clear and legit. I just have really strong beliefs that winning a championship is so hard. No matter. The circumstances that there's never an Asterik I'll I'll never ever I gotta be careful being so you know absolute but I just never believed that I and so this year. I thought that the level of play was great and I thought that the level that the Lakers showed in this bubble was spectacular. They are the absolute worthy champions. It's fair enough. The offense in the bubble especially was at another level. I don't understand why people would even have that conversation I mean you gotTa. All. NBA Players. And all the coaches and the people that have come on with US clearly state how hard it here's the plane of bubble without fans in you have to motivate yourself. I've gone through this many times trying to explain to people. They're stuck in an environment with no fans limited family and supporting family members and friends around. They're stuck in a hotel room not stuck in a ten thousand square foot house. This stuck in. Hotel Room One TV. Okay wallpaper on the walls. You can hear the next door neighbor a thin walls like really like and they're eating basically the same sort of gourmet cookie. There is no going out and getting this. It's totally different. I am not going to do a disservice to the Lakers by giving them Astros for this year saying, Oh, this is crazy. It's insane what they've been able to pull off during a pandemic during social justice all the things they've stood for not being around their family to do this wasn't insane insane year end insane accomplishment, but but. I do look forward to next year. That was your Asterik, I do I do I do afford to win Steph? Curry Klay Thompson draymond green when they're fully healthy what they can bring to the table I. Do look forward to seeing what the clippers will bring to the table and if they actually do how higher coach right if they actually do meet in the playoffs how that will be the coli that's pg going Lebron James and I do look forward to seeing you know Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving and Brooklyn what that brings it a table what happens with the would milwaukee and Jaanus. Could they get a Bradley bill to come to the table that missing link with Chris Middleton? There are a lot of things that look forward to next year considering if teams have to go on the road and when that or how that stuff plays out when it's not at a new site. So never going to disservice this was one of the most incredible things I've ever seen, but I do so why? So why are people out there trying to do a disservice given ashes to the? Lakers. Why? I I think people were doing that at the beginning by saying, Hey, you know you're not GonNa but They didn't make any sense he. Didn't make any sense I mean those are the people that haven't been to the bubble that haven't left their family for three and a half four months that don't know what the social pressure is the pressure to be alone to handle all that stuff there somewhere else.

"And they get firm, they get punitive. They find a freak out. All draymond Green said is that star player got to get out of there? That's That's called an opinion. It wasn't even A. Even a hot take that wasn't even a mild temperate take. Because there's this narrative about there with the NBA that of course, is not true like a lot of information on cable networks, but people believe it so it doesn't matter. The NBA has to fight this all the time. If you go to a small market, you can't win. That's actually what happens in baseball. Baseball has no salary CAP. If you look at Baseball's last twelve world series titles, it's the Yankee. Then the cubs and the red sox and the giants cardinals are a top ten revenue team. It's all big cities, San Francisco Chicago Boston New York. One Kansas City, eat out a world series and then back an hour later to being irrelevant but in the NBA The San Antonio Spurs were dynasty. Cleveland for eight years was fascinating actually seven, and then four more Portland last year got to the Western Conference. Finals. Oklahoma City's fantastic day one Indiana's Oh viable wait. Milwaukee's number one in the east. Hey a team from Canada just one. In the NBA small markets are often brilliantly represented. But yet people think the lottery is fixed really. You think the NBA said Hey. Let's put Zay on football city in New Orleans and dumber at in Memphis. That's what the NBA wanted yet in the NBA the Knicks have been dreadful. Washington can't get attacked together. When's the last time? Philadelphia was good or Detroit or Chicago or the Lakers for five years or the Clippers twenty years neuro until the last several. BIG CITY NBA teams. Small markets have flourished. EXCEPT SACRAMENTO. In baseball, it's the opposite. So that is why the NBA freaks out because there's this narrative that is not true. Small markets are great. I mean. If you told me the top seven or eight young players in the League, I don't know dame qualifies yet seven or eight young players. None of them are in New York none of them are in La but none of the top ten young players are in New, York or La there in places like Miami Oklahoma City Dallas fairly large. A lot of small market Milwaukee's got one. So this is why they freak out because they constantly in the NBA half the battle, this belief that small markets are the end of your career and that is simply not true. Kevin durant would have never left Oklahoma City. Had they not given James Harden away to Houston for an end table. If James Harden would've stayed there and had a paid him, and then the Oklahoma City would've won championships and heart and Westbrook and Kevin. Durant would be the right now and Milwaukee would be the best team in the East and Oklahoma. City would be the best team in the West. And Lebron. Probably wouldn't be in all the finals and Colli Leonard would still be in Canada so I just think it's a narrative that's not true. But the NBA freaks out about you can't control tampering first of all players talk all the time. Can you imagine if we had tampering rule in our business meaning that of joy and I talked about somebody on the air we'd get fine. But like when the show is over and we're walking to have lunch, we couldn't talk about it then. They're no cellphones. Tampering and tanking, happen all the time. You can't do anything about it. It happens in the NBA. Than any other sport, but the NBA realizes. Facts don't matter. It's all feelings. It's not about facts and the facts are small markets flourished in the NBA Canada. This year flourished Milwaukee's flourishing now. All right. So we'll give you the very latest on college football I'm going to go with my. Belief that the SEC has about a fifty fifty shot to survive this week of college football. That's my guess. "Good had draymond green on the pot of I've said it for so long. Dream is going to be great if he wants to be a media because you can always tell how successful players going to be in media by how they behave in the league, you were loud and knowing and always had opinion out smoking while you're college continued with the League now you are successful immediate. The Charles Barkley same way loud and outspoken won't be quiet, not following the rules Randy Moss is the same way like you know religious. The same way like a lot of our colleagues were loud and outspoken there in the league. And had an opinion on topics, and that translates if he wants to be I'm sure that he will have a very long and successful career. But JALEN I WANNA. Ask You about some. Rudy Gobert, remember how he started this whole thing. It was Rudy Gobert, touching the phone bear. He sort of made this country take the coronavirus seriously. I swear to God like like individually kind of made the country. Take the coronavirus seriously. He's still can't smell. It's three months later. "It's no secret that you'll probably have a pretty high draft. Pick and everyone's looking at James Wiseman. Saying well. How would wiseman fit with the warriors? So how do you think a prospect? James Wiseman potentially fit with your warriors. I haven't seen much of him because I. Don't keep with a ton of high school basketball and we didn't get to see much of a Memphis, but. Watch and I've seen some clips workouts and. A couple of highlights and you know he looks to be pretty. Mobile Pretty Athletic Guy. You know with the what are speed and pace the way we play. I think he can definitely be a great ad if that was the case, but I don't. I don't really know. You know what pick we're going to get or what is going. Go I'll. Live Testament with that. You just never know how to draft this. Go House. Cars may fall so We'll see what happens I. Know He's high up there on. The boy, you got all those guys. Everyone's talking about soap. We'll see a hot see how it goes, but nonetheless I think with whichever pick we ended up with will end up with with pretty good players you know. "First of all let me just say thank you so much for taking the time out to talk with us. I certainly do appreciate it. Thank you for having me. I appreciate you having that the second thing I like to do is to ask you to tell us about yourself now when I say that. Many feel free to go all the way back to when Benny I started all as you can start more current day. Tell us about yourself born and raised in Detroit. Michigan will actually outside Detroit. You know a couple of years from places to Middle School. And Grosse Pointe Mosul elementaries who rose point in moved out the Southfield and went to Detroit Country Day high school where I played three sports basketball for a ranch ride one to eight inches and buy raw and one in track championship. Long Jumper graduated from there might style ship offers to play for Bond College and chose to go to Michigan State University. Where but there for five years by four years leading receiver on in junior and senior there on the Rose Bowl in twenty thirteen one of the best teams initials state history when we went thirteen one. Nedley to seminated professionally. That did not get drafted. I'm currently wanted to my season in the NFL won the Super Bowl and Denver in two thousand sixteen play my first four years in Denver for the last two years. I've played in New York last as Peyton Manning. The plane would be lamenting though nine and author. And you know that's just a little bit about me. I am a brother team. Want rather than two. I have two parents and step mom so I had a great people around me and I've been able to do things in my life with the help is a family friend fantastic. I don't even know where to start. We're GONNA take a quick left turn and learn a little bit more about you. What's your favorite thing to do now for you? I'm going to say outside of football. I enjoy things. I enjoy travelling. Recently you know taking a couple of trips to Mexico I would agrees go to. La Lived in New York to travel. Highlights been time with family and friends love being around my friends and you know guys that I played with friendships that I've grown throughout the year. I do enjoy reading. That's why also why I wrote a book enjoy learning from April. I and I really movie out will love data. What's your favorite movie right? Now I would say green book. I really like an movie of all time. You know you got any denzel movie really this one. The greatest actors of all time so American gangster within her faith a thousand disgrace got it so talk a little bit about your journey because a lot of times when people think about athletes we all understand how hard it is and how you have to be disciplined and Yadda Yadda Yadda talk a little bit. About what it takes to be successful not just athletically but in general you gotta work hard wood. I'd like to tell people is that success doesn't happen in a day. It happens every single day. When you say you have to be disciplined after that the right at the set goals that you really want to achieve like a new one to be a professional athlete. I didn't know if it was going to be for baller basketball but every single day like I was working towards that and our talented anybody out there. Yes be disciplined is very important but being persistent stand persisted toward your goal like Adobe Wall Time It took me twenty two years and come a pro athlete. Isn't that something happened overnight or happened. After a couple years at Michigan state not had been working for this pretty much. Whole Life. Now always consciously gone toward something but once. I started at Age Fourteen. Fifteen years old like all right. I WANNA be a professional athlete. I'm working towards that every single day. So success doesn't happen in a day. It happened every single day goal. Said you gotTA break in long-term goals down to your short term goals and your short term goals in T- long-term wills data. Thanks this so talk a little bit about your book. Why a book reflection reflection of where I met in my life and that things that I've been able to accomplish as a team as an individual and also the people that have been arrived around so great players and I've learned a lot of grey base of why not share those things with the world. Does I know with certain books have done for me in my life. And that's why I wrote one and why not inspired me. So that's why I'm so when people pick up and read it. What are they gonNA take away from it? This is like a self help. Books like self actualize books. And they're going to realize that they have all the power in everything that they have that they want to achieve their goals or dreams right inside a woman. They'll just Meyer Goldberg from a semis stories. But some of the people that I have in the book like my brother or Draymond Green Dr Quiz demarcus ware also has some fringe were entrepreneurs or in the book as well because connected. One person in the world is Allie. I want them to also learn from friends who still have the same doubts fears and insecurities still were able to overcome those things. There are ups and downs in life if you really want something. You're going to have to stay precision discipline and go after it. And that's what I just want be learning. I want people to take away from it. Give us some insight on one of the time because I know I'm in a season and in time in my life where I have had the thought. Okay I want to give up. I don't WanNa to do this anymore. What about you have you ever had a time in your life or in your career where you wanted to give up? You wanted to quit. But you didn't and help US UNDERSTAND. What made you continue on? I don't think I ever wanted to give quit. I would always tell myself dot to give up or quit in. Ireland will just know that. I would have a lot of regrets if I did give up to quit so I don't think I've had very cut moments like man. I don't WanNa feel this pain or I don't WanNa feel dizzy or fear a life. I've always told myself like you're going to regret this. If you don't go back out there or try so I don't ever want to give up but I just like everybody else. I've had my fears. That's an insecurities but I'll always tell myself. You gotta go for the asked. You knew each yourself up. If you don't get it was was one of your biggest failures if you describe it that way personally. I don't consider anything that I don't achieve as a failure but talk a little bit about some of those moments for you. What was the biggest moment in your life where he thought? Wow Man that Dingo will. I have moments like this every year but the first time. I've really felt a big failures. Probably my Richard Junior year at Michigan State. That'd be twenty twelve and I dropped. Touchdown passes on a big nationally televised game on ABC. And now that was the first time where you know they gain was really on my shoulders. I mean only happened in the first quarter. But you know you know. Lose game first quarter but I like that play could have made by different game. That was the first time night. They'll those fears and insecurities all that nervousness said. That's when I really got into understanding the mind. How strong the MY IDEAS? I can care of your mind. How IMPORTANT MODEL

Draymond Green compares Warriors to 'The Last Dance' Bulls, says Kevin Durant was 'elephant in the room'

"You Draymond green check out the last dance and like you he's got thoughts Draymond facts as he sees a lot of similarities between the bulls and the warriors for instance the so called elephant in the room the boys often wise and that was their last year together except everybody knew about that elephant golden state's offense was Kevin Durant according to drain money often being what was the ramp going to do at the end of the year nobody knew because Katie wouldn't say and dram on seem to take issue with that because he has teammates had to answer the question because the route would not I could see were dram I would be unhappy about that well don't Randy need to say exactly what he was going to do what he should have done was sad I don't want to talk about this ask me again at the end of the year but not before I don't ask my teammates and my coaches either there's a right way and a wrong way to handle that and I grew a drain monitor rand handle that

Espn you'll be able to get our reaction so we'll be continually promoting that as the time comes on we're GONNA get into a lot of draft today but also there's still conversation happening around the last dance as I mentioned record numbers for a sports documentary. Why because all eyes right now are Michael Jordan the Bulls and what happened now? In the moment we had the conversation yesterday. About whether or not a Scottie. Pippen was selfish. That was part of what was talked about in. The documentary was Scotty Selfish. Well today we get some straight talk straight talk wireless as Volkert cellphone coverage you need. I'm going I'm setting up the wrong thing. Sorry Dream on was talking about Kevin Durant as he was interviewed about last anti also spun it into Golden State and the Warriors Conversation. And whether or not there was an elephant in the room with Kevin Durant and the way the situation was being handled with the warriors he came out and talked about that elephant in the room and what it meant to the team. The question is what do they think of his reaction? Stephen a reacted to drain on today on I take. I thought he did have a point in regards to K. D. only from the standpoint that when he talked about everybody having to answer questions are pertaining to their own future Obviously you know K okay. These contracts situation Definitely dictated that to some degree when you look at the warriors they were a juggernaut. They were a dynasty in face and Kevin. Durant was obviously incredibly essential. Part of all of that he busted onto the scene he immediately won two championships back to back. He averaged over twenty six points per game both seasons. He's clearly the best player on the best team with the two with the greatest shooting. Back what we had ever seen in the greatest shooter we had ever seen in our lifetime in steph.

How the Warriors stack up against Jordan's Bulls

"Everybody in the free world. Watch the last dance the other night. It appears Draymond. Green did too and draymond green went on a podcast yesterday. uninterrupted W RT s after. Show party with Paul Rivera and Maverick Carter. No less And he likened their last season with Kevin Durant the warriors to what he had just watched on. Tv with the last season of the Bulls and he didn't hold back and he said one of the things from watching it. Was that what you saw? Is everybody kind of set it up like this is going to be the last year and so there was none of that elephant in the room hanging out there for their team That last warriors team with Durant and said that you know. Steve tried to deal with it but Kevin was asked about it every day. Dream on saying I want to be a warrior for Life Klay say and I want to be a warrior for life and then there was this elephant in the room the entire year and it was almost as if he watched the last dance and thought Jeez They handled that a lot. Better like hanging out there the whole year. Everybody knew that was going to be the end and so they just treated it that way the whole year. What you guys think. I mean ownership didn't handle it better. The player of the players may have the players may have handled it at worst. And Scottie Pippen you know getting the surgery when he did wanting out you know Jordan thinking was selfish but ownership on the warriors side of things. At least their goal is building with sustainability. They WANNA keep steph curry and Klay Thompson and continue winning. Reisen Dorf in Krause and the Bulls were ready to pull the plug after the first three championships. Trying to trade pippen for camp granted that still a win but then after it it's about China. Tear Down Arriba. I don't see that from the warriors now but it is fascinating. How much history has repeated in some ways with the disease of more and whatnot that manifested with Katie? Always being jealous of steph curry in the spotlight that he received and you look at what the Bulls went through in the nineties. I it is hard to see the parallels from the players side. We think I didn't see it. I just think Jerry mind was a I think he was a little narcissistic with it is totally different situation. Durant in that situation is basically the Rodman character. Rodman was on the Bulls for three years. Durant shows up for three years pushes him to another level but other I mean the bulls thing was so different Jordan and pippen were together for you know twelve years and there were Phil Jackson for. I don't know it was at least nine or whatever and everything was the same and they were just going going going and they had all these different ups and downs and that warriors thing you know they durant was on that team for blip was if you add up when when he actually showed up and then when he left. It's less than three years. It's like thirty months It's not a perfect comparable for for either team. But I do think you know the players you know seeking that attention. Wanting what's there's at I think with that aspect there's some similarities but overall though I mean I'm with you in the sense that ownership in front office objectives here are far different in what the Bulls wanted to do in the nineties with Crowson. Reisen Dorf is far different than what the warriors are trying to do with Myers and and warriors ownership. Now right I mean the differences with the warriors thing. It was one person undermining the whole thing. Durant yeah the Bulls thing it was. It was like a bad marriage with you. Know eight nine different people. All knowing like the marriage is ending and I think with the warriors they kept trying to pull durant back in that second season when he was there was when it started to fall apart in the third season. I still feel like they felt like it might be salvageable until they had that clippers game and then after that I think there are some similarities with the chemistry. Let's say let's say this. Let's say draymond. His way would have played out the way he wanted to write like. I don't buy for one second. If Kevin Durant started that season said this is my last year with the warriors it still would have been a problem like the right here the whole year by the way. He should have done that though. That's how he should have handled it and I think part of the problem is he didn't handle it that way. And you know the players and the team new organization. They knew he was leaving. They knew about all the New York stuff they thought it was gonna be the Knicks but they knew he was leaving. It was by especially by February march ever in the league new so I think from that standpoint underminded what's the elephant in the room. That draymond talking about that. You know what I'm saying if they all had this understanding Kevin. Ain't going to be with US after this year. Then why is he acting like it was a problem throughout the entire year? That Kevin was just saying Oh. I don't know we'll see we'll because I think Kevin probably agree with this. I think there was still hope that he might do a one eighty. You know I I think that. And honestly with the with the ninety eight balls and you're gonNA find out in the tenth part it came a lot closer to everybody coming back except for Rodman I I think they knew Rodman was done but I think once they actually won. I think there was a moment there where they were like Holy Shit. What are we doing? We gotTA defend this again.

Draymond: Warriors had 'elephant in room' in KD

"And speaking of Draymond green we played a little bit of sound from him in the sports center update there and to what you're talking about again dream on green was on uninterrupted W. R. T. S. after party basically saying but at least the bulls knew from the beginning of the season this was it they knew it was going to be imploded after the ninety seven ninety eight season and they knew that was going to be it one way or another and that was that was the last chance exactly as as Phil Jackson moved into a fair and drain lines like we never had that opportunity that was kind of the elephant in the room at all does Steve what kind of of like let's just enjoy this year for what it is because we don't know where you make sure homes it didn't carry it necessarily carry the same weight because what should have happened we'll come out and say Hey man alive like this is it like so let's let's do this yeah this isn't it you know so but you can just leave because what happened was the question came to us everyday life claim also was asked about our country and it was strictly due to you know because what I was going home it was sad I want to be awarded for like I want to be here we started this thing this is why I want to be and then you kind of have children right I don't know what to do next year like it don't matter but it does matter because you're not the only person that has to answer that question and to be quite Frank with you you're the last person that has there's no question because you don't really say thank you don't say much to the media anything it's all of a sudden

NBA 2020 Predictions

"About My tween twenty bold predictions now. This isn't just for the regular season. This is for the off season. This is the beginning of next season to these addiction that I think that potentially could happen. I'm going to say them here today. And maybe you can agree with me some. You may think this crazy in some you might agree with. We'll have to see my first pro. Prediction is that both L. A.. Neither one of the LA teams will not make the Western Conference finals. I think a team will beat them or since the clippers. Don't take care too much about seeding in the Lakers. Stay the number one seed if the clippers land four or five. They'll play the clippers in the second row. They'll play Lakers around. which would men? 'cause obviously semifinals matchup US and other Western Conference finals match. But I also feel like there may be a team that could upset me maybe Houston is probably the most likely that could upset one of the LA teams and. I think that they're going to keep them from making the the the Western Conference finals. I know a lot of people were expecting that to happen. A lot of people are wanting to happen. I'm sure it will be great for the Lee but I really think that that's something in my opinion that I think is going to happen. That's one of my first. Bold predictions of the twenty twenty season in further on my eh prediction is that the Golden State Warriors will form another super team. Now I don't know if there's going to be with Jaanus. It could be a cry towns because Golden State is monitoring situation but Golden State clearly knows. Listen with the way the League is if we want to be on topic how can we need to get an update US another super team together and I think that they're definitely trying very hard to get another another star player in there now. I do like that. Probably means that's the end of Draymond Green. But I think that's what they're aiming for taming to get their aiming to get another star in there to see to come back with clay and to come back with Steph potentially really they can make you trade for star because they if they do get a top three lottery pig. deathly do not be surprised. If they try to make a trade with that pick honestly they honestly could have just picked up an amazing asset for them because they could use that as trade bait in. That's good trait rate. You know maybe the team star is disgruntled. Maybe you never know. I mean this isn't somebody would think about like the sons have another bad year. We'll we'll give you our top pick and another guy. And we want Devon Booker. Obviously Yona how that work I mean you know. They're kind of doing the right now. And the end of the Russell even yeah no. We Really Devon Booker may be a better player Neanderthal Russell. But that's definitely a prediction I think could potentially happen. I think that the warriors warriors will form another super team. But it's not going to be as top heavy instrument of Kevin Durant who like the second best player in the League. That's why think if they got Jaanus it would be stacked because of state Stephan Klay can play like they play and then they completely put a better supporting cast around. Then you could say okay. Yeah this team is going to be very tough to beat. Even laker teams have a team. They may be looking up to but it will have to see because if they get any towns houses. This is a great player but we don't view him as view when Kevin Durant was there which means even though it would be very top heavy west conference. But that's when also and my pro predictions one of my other pro predictions. Are I think that revenue from the C.. BA will increase which will lead to more players undeserving of big major contracts. Getting big major contracts. I'm going to say any names. But it's like okay. Well I'll say this because I don't know if he's GonNa get it but there are people who are sometimes wonder now dre walgreens supposed to be a free agent this offseason offseason Draymond Green. We know he's not a guy who's going to score points we can do live. And he's a great gadget player. I would say but some people wonder. Would somebody pay draymond green the Max would they give draymond green that Max deal. That is something they definitely wonder about and like a question. Like why would you give you Max. If if there's more money to be spent draymond green could potentially ask for Max and if you like laundry a month you might give them close to it. I mean we already have players now. who try to sign that? First Max deal then take a shorter deal. Just didn't end up getting of that. Ten Year supermax dill. But you know it's one of those those things where I think that this will lead to more players being signed overpaid and I mean you obviously can see more cat room. It can lead the teams being in very weird financial situations with cap every team six Performing up to expectation and then you played a lot of guys a lot of money who may have never actually deserve the money in the first place so. I think that that's going to be something that's going to be interesting another addiction I have is. I think that James Harden will make it to the NBA Finals Cheer. I know that's pretty big. That basically means you're saying he's GonNa beat one or both La Teams. I think James Harden. This would be the best year for him to do it. I think right now this I flew. This is his best year do it. So I'M GONNA go ahead mcnabb. Oh predicts names hard. It's GonNa make the finals. These the rockets are GonNa make the finals. This may be shocking to you. But that's how I feel. I feel like that. Jr potentially do it. I feel like if he was able to average at least thirty in the playoffs and Russell could give him about twenty twenty three. That's fifty three between the two players and they have some good supporting cast. You can't forget about. PJ Tucker can't forget about Erik. Gordon Clink Appel. You definitely feel like they have all the potential attention in the world so potentially be a top team and so I would not be surprised if they end up being the top team they think they can be and making it to the NBA NBA finals. This year in basically just creating just such a great agree moment for the city Houston also another prediction. I think Diane if he comes back as soon as they say he come back. We'll still win rookie of the year. I think Zaylon has all the talents. Be A star of Zion. Comes back in balls out in just twenty points a game in gives you a lot of highlight plays. I think he will be able to squeeze out winning rookie year only only playing half of the year again. That's a pretty bold prediction but as I've anybody can do a Zairean can all takes his cause. Remember even the Luca one owned by a lot last year. You trae young exciting second half which made it interesting and don't be. We don't feel like John Moran is doing with Luca Danni last year so it's not as far fetched is not as it's not like oh it's completely impossible for Luca played so well and then trae young play well in the New Year but he's still play. Okay well it's like John Mirant is playing. Maybe the best right now. But he's not playing at local level from last year so of Zion can have maybe a trae young like surge in the second half of the season. I think he'll go ahead and win the rookie year. But it all depends on when he gets back. 'cause I do if he didn't get back to maybe mid February with that he wouldn't. It's only two months left in the season. At that point. He has to probably get back to move in the next two weeks and then just start going on a tear from game one because dial is full practice recently so he's clearly about to get there. Obviously you've seen him take jumpers you've seen him dunk Donc so I definitely things I on can win the rookie year if he gets back in time and my last bowl prediction is that the Atlanta Hawks will add a star player. This off season. I don't know who but I feel. They're gonNA add some but I feel like some of the issues they've had I flipped. They're going to add a star. Because I feel like you need to especially to make trae WANNA stay there because rotations rumblings that he might and I wanna stay. That may be something that you may want to do. If Your Hawks Front office you need to add some talent in their yep some good young talent but you're going to you know how it is as league view in a win you're gonNA have to give up that good young talent for solidified star. Obviously I feel like trays untouchable. But maybe Kevin Heard. Or maybe you D Andre One hundred maybe a cam reddish maybe push them shelby John Collins and I think they're gonNA make a trade for a proven star in this league and we'll have to see whoever that star is how far the Atlanta Hawks may potentially get because of it but that's it for me thank you for listening listening to the GMC football basketball podcast on the GMC podcast network. "draymond green" Discussed on Jalen and Jacoby

"We want a guys thinking positively going into a situation where you know, if we lose we're going home. All right. And it was a building that was tough for us to play. Unfortunately for them. Draymond green got suspended. Okay. I think people point to that too much though, what as what dream on getting suspended. It's like, oh, they won because Draymond got suspended. Not Draymond does get suspended in the Cavs. Never win feel like well, we can say about any game like a ball bounce this way. Or that way. I mean, the also salted the brunt. Jay, that's crazy part about this. And this is what I tell people because I I hear that a lot too. And I'm like come on stop it. He played game six and seven. Yeah. Seven much of threes hail. Yeah. And now was an hour's another thing. Coach Lou did at halftime that game. He got on LeBron James because he wasn't playing well enough in Draymond green. Was you know, playing really really well. And and he told me he had to step up and shit. Second half, he stepped up and man that was the best Father's Day of my life bet. I bet man. I mean, we we popping champagne, and you know, I'm a big cigar guy. We have cigars, and it and it was just van. It was awesome. So okay. I want to talk about cigars. Yes. Not a cigar guy. "Woke God. I got nothing. Let's kitchen. So what is? I got on a single man I've been doing this for. Oh my God. Steve Kerr wasn't feeling. The love last night. What I did there. He was Jack during a miserable fourth quarter for the warriors. The trailblazers crush Golden State won twenty nine one zero seven to end the warriors eleven game win streak and remarkably guys the warriors were up by one going into the fourth quarter. This thing fell apart this couple of stories here. Yeah. They were. They were the warriors. They trailed one ten one two three at the time that Draymond green got Jack. Did they got out score like one hundred and nothing after that? I just got by the second unit is well that they lost to. But the bigger story is listen, Golden State loss. Okay. Draymond green gets the gets the technical. And Steve Kerr, you always want to go through your coaches minds. Like, am I doing this for show? Do I not want to be out there anymore? My doing this. I got the back of my teammates lost his flip in mind. The video of it is fantastic. And throwing a clipboard all over the place. He gets tossed after the game Utah players talk about how much they love it. Kind of that bonding. Thing for a team that sometimes during the season has to look for something to bond about easiest group to hate in sports is the rats. It's always easy to galvanize a team around those guys are wrong. And so you'll you upgrade our guy to a flagrant run. I'll show you textbook clipboard toss by Steve Kerr. You can tell he's been doing this for a long time saving this one up. Putting in the man hours texts textbook husband moved by Steve Kerr afterwards when he was asked about it because his memory on exactly went down a little bit fuzzy.

"When this came up again after they lost in Houston in emphatic fashion. Draymond green was asked about it answered it well answered it respectively. Respectfully, we're going to go through everything will be fine. Whatever. K Kevin's katie's asked about this. What does he say don't ever ask me about it? Again. Didn't look we this. He is to me has become the single most unlikable star in sports. Part of it might be because of the way he left. Okay. See after he told everybody he loved their, Bubalo, must've, whatever. But then he went to them like he went to them that was part of it. But he has become a jerk. He's become incredibly unlikable with the media. He's got this tough guy persona that like is just it's not like like Draymond green can be unlikable at times. But then at times, you know, he's got this great smile in the sense of humor. And you're like, oh, yeah. Yeah. He's pretty cool. I got love to go have a beer to that guy. Kevin durant? Just shirk. And it's come across that way. Again. I don't sit here and say that Draymond should call him. You know, be word. But the point is like, dude, I know you're Katie. But I'm no slouch over here. I've hit bigshots I'm somewhat important in this basketball team that was winning a title before you ever got here like layoff public. Disrespect of me. I'm good with Draymond green in this deal. I don't think it's a big deal. However, you wanna look at it. We're November when they have the NBA finals in June. Yeah. All right. Yeah. Thinking about when when the NBA finals actually take place they're going for their third straight NBA title. Okay. You really think by then this is going to matter. You ROY think that these they wanna make if they want to keep this thing going, and they want to win a title and Draymond green been known to say things that get under player skin. Now, this is with a teammate. But if there's bad blood if you want to say that what's going to happen come to think about how far we are away the NFL dress late April this is June. The NFL draft will be long gone by the time, we get the NBA finals, and we're talking about whether this is going to be a factor with us basketball team. Are you kidding me? I don't know if it is or not I'm just looking at the here and now and just picking a side because. About nothing. You don't think this could cause a problem down the rest of the season. Hey, it's bad. But between us does it impact our show. I'll there's no bad blood between us. Oh, there's there's between you and Jimmy class and not us. What you break things up. For medicine irritate, the other person that creates bad blood. That's true. Bad blood Taylor swift best or I'll let me call you antagonised. Okay. That's what you are. Okay. But that that that makes it. You know, you just Johnny settling got me back to something here. One wonders great artists. Bad song. Bad blood swift. That was an app that bad blood within a rock group that had hit after hit. That's fine. But they were competing against anybody. Like, they weren't comp-. That's totally different there out bring up one Fleetwood. Not okay. But Fleetwood MAC turned out great song after great song. I'm saying they the some competing anybody like Like, you're you just just. yourself is what you're doing. No, you're not or you are a group grew to the warriors a group breaks up and all of a sudden that they splinter off, and they become solo accident would end that groups gone. If it happened that way. What do you mean there as a fan of music, you should understand that? No. I mean, I like I don't wanna see great groups split up because of friction, but a great group, even if there's friction or band is still going to turn out phenomenal hits. Whereas a great team if you've got one star starter and another star starter they can't play nice to one another. I think that's bound to at some point plus direction within a locker room and ruled never matter you disagree with that never mattered. I look back. You've always had teams that had players that have gone at it. And it never has impacted whether they want to championship or didn't..

"So you saying that one game suspensions a microcosm of how this could go where we're going to support Durant and all efforts if we can keep you you try to keep them in appease him. It's interesting. I look at this so many layers to this one I was at the game. Oh, man. I was on the other side of the court. I wish I would've switched my cease to hear is phone because I would report it every single word. This is interesting because Draymond green is absolutely worth the hassle. He's always been worth the hassle and a room for the gas needs eastern fire. And this boy is fire. He's the passion. He's the stir. He's the one who's going to go test them. He's going to be the one that brings everyone out of their skin out their comfort zones, but guess what to a greater place. Have they won three of the last four championships. Yeah. Has dryer. Mom been on the roster. Yeah. He's worth cost them a championship. He called him because of his immaturity. And it's amazing. We always talk about the incidence, but not the results. So we're going to now have a time line of issues with Jerry mongering. Well, he not gonna championship. How did he did? He win win it three LA brea bandied him, he kissed her ran to create this dynasty. So we're not going to give them proper credit, but we're going to go out there and give them into the mirror. He's a strong part of the foundation in the. Fabric of the organization wide turned around. The reason why it was a a great cured for Kevin Durant come near. However, if you want to keep him there, you gotta keep things on even Q in debt. Right. There was not cool. You know what I mean? And look you have you have your moments in the heat of the battle. You exchange words and heaven that confrontation is all about commod and winning. Then you move forward to me personally from outside looking in. I just don't see that being a resolve situation because it wasn't answer correctly. And Kevin Durant. He said he said, look, we just want focused on basketball moving forward. But is just the energy of this situation. Does didn't seem right. Let me let me add this Marcellus. My my take on this. I don't really have a problem with Draymond. I don't I really don't would Draymond issue though, is Kevin Durant softness. This guy is a little solved and dre mom plays too. Rough. And y'all were big kids. You remember plan with the other kids you'll same age? Mommy, like what you too big for that. Yes. You roughly ta. Stop all tours. That's Draymond issue. He plays to rough. Because to me when I look at this incident. I don't see anything there that I would be upset upset about twenty four hours later. I don't care what Draymond called him in the locker room or what was said here in this little confrontation. I would be over at the next day K D And built that way dre. Mom plays a little too rough Acadia. Oh, don't you dare try to twist this? Yeah. Yeah. You can see where you go. That ain't cool. Here's the real. Here's the world artists to levels to this one dream on. You ain't as thorough as you are advertise, you ain't as one hundred as you want to go out there. And professor, you know, why? Because I'll never see somebody who keeps it one hundred dole Rowley all the time. And then all of a sudden they explode because if you're thorough in all moments all encounters. There's no pinned up energy. There's no pinned up emotion. There's no now let me just unveil everything when Draymond on loaded on Kevin Durant. I think Kevin Durant and his brother realized, oh, you're the guy that wants to be the bully on the block. But in reality, you sitting there suppressing a lot of issues. Interesting. That's level one. Here's Kevin Durant. Real issue with dream on because he's sensitive a soft. He's like do Cincinnati got be but not earner account could be. But now because everybody is I look I I can't trust you and respect you. I'm talking basketball. My trust is that you're going to take this basketball one on one and take it the right way. So that's one issue. We're on a bitch. I'll just do pass the ball. You know, why I'm here right and dream on buck stat and then wants to yell at him. And here's why don't respect you. Because you have no boundaries when you're wrong..

"Is after hours with Amy Lawrence. I'm tempted to use face palm Friday on all of you who are telling me you put catch up on things like your cereal. No, why why would you do that ever? Does. That mean, you put catch up in your milk, like cereal with milk and catch up. I'm dumb founded. I'm very very often. No, I'm hardly ever speechless as very often speechless. I'm so flustered. Now by the things that you put catch up on. Okay. We'll get to that. Some of you are I think making this stuff up, but it's interesting guess, it's after hours with Amy Lawrence on CBS sports radio the rockets rattled off twenty one consecutive points in the fourth quarter. And by this time, you've got Draymond and Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson to Andrea Gonzala and Steph curry on the bench making jokes because what else could you do. It's better to have them making jokes than it is to have them John at one another. They were not doing that. And the very first possession that resulted in a fast break for the warriors in Houston is actually when they were still in the game you add Draymond running the break three on one passing to Kevin Durant for a dunk. So on the court. They looked fine in practice. They were communicating that were high fives. I don't know whether or not everybody's over it. I would say more than likely not. If you're in Kevin Durant shoes. I would think it would if you're honest. It would take you maybe a while who knows how long couple of days a week when they have a long way to go. But it's not those comments from Draymond green. A bit. And he was taking shots at the guy. Now, if you apologize. That makes it a little easier. Right. Little easier to say, okay. He apologized. He asked for forgiveness. Now, it's up to me. This is of course, all mature adults. This is the Suming that they're all mature adults. So Draymond is speaking for the one and only time he says about what happened a few nights ago. And the fact that people are now pointing to this as the reason down the road in the future for why the warriors not only don't win another title. But why they break up the band. We're having.

"Frankly, no matter how they downplay it, and I wanted to too much on this because I did it all yesterday. But no matter how much they downplay it they suspended Draymond green for nothing. Short of tirade directed at Kevin Durant in full view of everyone in the world. And and now Marc spears reports this morning a question. I was very curious about that dream on may appeal the fine, which is not super unusual the union doesn't publicize when they appealed these fines that teams issue. It's happened. I I know of three or four incidents in the last let's say three or four years, which means there's certainly triple that. Probably. But I was very interested to see if he would do it to the point that I texted union whatever night it became clear. Not the the next night after the game when they suspended him because they were on a back back. I believe right, Atlanta, Atlanta, clippers Atlanta. So hey, you know, you guys can appeal this, right? Like, I just want to double check that you can appeal team teams. Just don't have unilateral authority to say, oh, we don't like the words. You said we're taking your game check. And they said, yeah, we're waiting to hear from Draymond and his people. It's it's always kind of tricky when it's a team thing and spears reporting today like they might do it. So now, I'm on high alert that would certainly be an interesting little subplot. Well, you know, this this hit me as well the other night because my or whenever the suspension was announced because my first thought was. Either. There's more way more to this or significantly more. Some other piece that we're missing or they've overreached by a long shot. Because in my experience, my recollection, my memory can be faulty. And by the way, you're here. A because I like you and be because you wrote the definitive Draymond green. Steve Kerr how these guys have you should look at it. So it's from last conference finals on Bleacher report how Draymond green and Steve Kerr have sort of learned to coexist in lift each other up. So I'm very interested to hear your take. Well, all right. So there, and we'll we'll get to that part of it. Because I do think that maybe that the themes that I hit on that story. Maybe have implications for how this thing goes forward with with dream on and Kevin Durant..

"We follow each other on Twitter about. All right. Very cool. Win against the pelicans Draymond green was asked about winning defensive player of the year to which he responded, I need that. I need that bad. I need that real bad. I need that really really really bad. He would also get a huge payback. If he wins another defensive player of the year. So guys fill in the blank three months chances at winning Depor are blank, I'm writing a novel here. What do you got? I'll go good. But what has to happen? Thing. It's very hard to win defensive play. If your team doesn't good. Good defense. And right now the warriors the thirteenth, but I think that's going to improve on the floor that are about fit. And I think Steve knows that that defense needs to tighten up. So I think over the course of the season it will improve and dry. We'll get a lot of credit for that. Because we know we know the test says Draymond green is a brilliant defendant. Statistically, it's not in his favor right now. But I think it will improve thing is the lowest person the lowest defensive writing for team for the play to win defensive play. The fan was Marcus Camby in two thousand seven when eleven so you and nowadays you've got to be even higher, and that's exactly I'm doubling down on basically what you all. Just said right there hit his chances all depend on his team. Just being better defensively. He's in all world defensive player if his team is top five like they were when he wanted to years ago that you talked to them, then it makes sense. It'll be in the running again. That's why I don't think he's gonna win it below average. Because this is the year. The warriors defense takes a dip. They want to in a row three and four they're winning on the offensive end with all those crazy shots not going to happen. All right. When we come back, Laura. Team brise or fry even you lead. "And I'm pretty sure you can tell me who I'm missing because I'm trying to do this free. Stop of course. So now, what makes all of those guys different? Draymond green is unique because as a goddess primarily defending players closer to the basket. He doesn't have the highlight level of rejections. He doesn't have like the loud plays where he gets a steal. He gets. Block. He goes coast to coast, and then somebody throws him a lot or he goes down. And he pulls up a three a up three without any passes. So Jaylen those right lane. He doesn't tell to handle somebody. You're making a great. This. Beasley isn't loud, it gets overlooked. But that doesn't mean it's not quantifiable because we're in twenty eight and they kinda count everything is a stat. He leaves the league he's tied with Jimmy Butler in deflections and loose balls recovered. Also leaves the league in contested three pointers. We're talking about Draymond green. He's not a guard. Lease lean contested three point is also leads the league in box out. They say these things don't show up in the box score. But in twenty eight team, you can't quantify these things, which is one of the reasons that I think that Draymond green is the best defender in the game and will win defensive player of the year, and I'll continue to campaign for him to do. So because I wanted to get his money. Draymond green. Absolutely. And also, so very uniquely office of now, you gave me examples that I can now use hopefully to unpack it for some of the people that don't realize his impact. How unique James harden is as a player that could lead the league in three pointers made and attempted as well as free throws. Normally, that's two different people. This is what you just said about Draymond green normally guys. They get box outs. Is it the goddess contested at three exactly those this twenty four feet away from each other? So that's how unique both of those guys. Tracking the domestic dust bunny. You come to find them hiding under wardrobes next to soaks due to. Scurry off. What's actually that's meeting about the dust bunny is that although they're not actually sent creatures when the not only saves people money, but a ninety seven percents customer satisfaction rating obvious to them you should switch because Yesler.
