"And that was the team that if you were listening this morning, and I bet plenty of fans were because you know, one of those guys is on. You know. Thursday's Elliott Friedman, Friday's Darren Dreger and he was talking It was It was really fun. I meant to text Andrew Peters after and compliment him because he had as much fun as you can have. I think with one of those guys who doesn't want to tell you What he knows like Draeger was playing coy about. There's another team. I don't want to say, because I don't have it locked up yet, But there's another team. It's from the East and then Andrew just kept sort of. So Tampa Bay, So he just kept guessing at naming teams. Yes, it was while Gregor was on with them, and it was great. So there is actually an East again. I think that's right. Yes, Okay, That's good. That's so here's so here's Montreal and all the other teams that were thought to be in it are listed there and it, you know. The impression I get is like this is heating up and this could happen. And I just, You know, it's not quite there is the framework. You know one of those tweets from from any of those guys, but it's it's encouraging and to me very exciting as we start today's show. He also had a tweet about how Jack Eichel is training. Right, skating and feeling great. Yeah, working out and skating And he feels great. Another reason why I have chosen not to care about the neck injury for the most part, right? Like there. You mentioned these guys come on the station and They just have not reported about how really like. For the most part, At least such a trade is precluded by his his health. And, you know, I don't I don't know that that isn't the case. But I felt sort of Free again today thinking about this when I saw that Well. Bristol Linen is officially Sabres history at this 0.542 games. Eight seasons. 13,000 minutes on the 13,000 minutes. No playoffs. Anyway. What about the pick? 13 So One thing about this draft, like the Sabres had the number one pick, and we've also talked about guys who might deserve to be or be expected to go in the top five. When thinking about, say, Anaheim. In an Eichel trade 13 any what else is there? There's there's the sort of the general consensus I would say that it's not the best year in the draft. What is 13? How does that work? Feel like 13. The first thought I had was 13 is smack dab in the goalies own. Just what I thought when I saw 13, Wall stat Swedish goalie and cost So I think Western Hockey League are the two guys that are projected to be in the first round. And they're both. I don't mean there's no consensus on on them, and some guys even have them flipped. I think from what I've seen, but um, there there, there there around there. So, um, you know, that's not my favorite idea. I think you can draft goalies later and develop them because they take a long time to develop anyway, so guys that are the best at 18 or 19. Um, you know, they might be already just further along in development, and that doesn't mean they're going to be better when they're 22 necessarily the other guys might catch up. So, um, I I would not really love that. I mean, I'm not going to be mad about it necessarily, but it's not my favorite idea. So I would hope they would do something else with that. Pick me to the idea of swapping it out. Like if they can strike a deal and get like the extra asset from someone. We're talking about Minnesota yesterday, right? It was like four pieces. Well, what if we got to take one out? Well, okay. I guess I think I still like it may be having that pick, Um, you know, gives you the flexibility to not worry so much about getting their first round pick because it's so low or if you're dealing with a team like Anaheim. And they want to, You know, you want to get whatever you want to get from them. The keys are you knows egress, or, um, Or Drysdale and three is You know you'd love to get three, but they want to unload something else. And you might like to something else. Maybe you can swap 13 for three and get up there and draft the Swedish. The winger Ekland or, Or maybe Matt had been ears doesn't go second. I don't know. Um, if you're willing to take money, maybe Yeah, Maybe there's a way to make that work where you get the top prospect and that great pick and something else because you've got 13 to give them back when they give you three So I think it it gives them some some more options. And I hope that I would think those are being explored. But just, you know, if they sit there and make the pick, I would fear goalie but I feared that Don't know. Where were they Picking when Spencer Night was in the draft, or No, it was maybe last year with a scar off Either way, like I'm always like, No, Please don't do that. Don't don't do that. I mean, Spencer night looks great. But I just I don't know about spending those assets. Premium assets on goalies. I'm a little worried about. I definitely wouldn't do that. So I'm with you there. The losing has not meant at least at the moment. At other times, it looked more promising, but sort of like a ripe rich. Young, you know, up and coming group that the sabers don't have that. So they need that. And the number one overall pick is always great. But you need more. What? They haven't one thing they haven't had all these years. Is anybody really emerged outside of the guys who they picked at the very top that absolutely everyone else would have also picked So here's to changing that. Here's a pick that if they keep it in the middle of the first round, you know that that's important. That's a swing area. Where, like you really want to do well there, you kind of need to almost Different than the very top and then certainly different than the middle of the draft. So exciting, You know, exciting. It's It's a relief More than anything else. I don't I don't get like super happy about this stuff because I feel like You know the guy. The guy is probably happy to leave and Don't know. It just doesn't feel like the right. Feeling to think about this as sort of like happy, you know, like, I'm relieved that that they got to this point, However, they got there. I'm excited about what they were able to do in the trade, and I'm hopeful that it can help lead to good things. Um, you know, that's our team. And it's been really challenging. And this one player has been such a drag on me, I think on them. I know on a lot of fans, he's just been such an interesting player. To have all these years because, like I have a friend in Philadelphia who's asking me about him? I'm like this guy is the perfect case study of like he's the perfect I test player. Yeah. Right. Like he's Yeah, Yeah, he I mean, I'll say this about him, like, Look, I'm really I think you needed to be traded and I respect what a drag. He was on the team. Um, but like, I don't think he was. He obviously was not. And no one has ever said this trying to be bad, like I think that guy worked his ass off. Sure. To be the best he could be. I mean, he is an animal I got. I've always been very impressed by his compete by his honesty. His effort like to me everything was there. And that's why I think a lot of people like them because you look at anything like this guy is doing everything he possibly can. To be the best that he can, and it just doesn't work. I mean, it just doesn't make good decisions with the puck and it's just not. It just doesn't work. But he maxes out to me on the effort meter and like I have no doubt that he spilled everything he had every time he was doing anything involving.

I wanted to play the I want to play this sound for you guys there. Do we have this Marshawn Lynch down about the Seattle? I want that. I want to beast mode stuff, So I'm not going cracking hockey, bro. I'm gonna try to be totally honest. I mean, NHL expansion drafts. You know, that's pretty birth a second. Yeah. Listen. I mean, I don't even know who they who they get from the sharks. Did they take anybody from the sharks? You know, you know, it's a great question. Don't say anything about that. He informed on this stuff, but I'm not really think. She read the entire piece by Tim Booth from the A P. But it did not mention anybody from the Sharks. I was wondering Alex True, Alex. True. When did they take? I couldn't tell you much about ox. True guys. Uh, I wonder if they don't take somebody from your team and an expansion draft. You look at your own team. You're like. Damn. Maybe she was pretty good. Probably tweet something to listen. Listen, uh, yeah. If they didn't take Mike, Rick Mike Ricci Poly, then I'm not There You go around. So Nolan from earth. Well, that's my, preferably I know what you've got. Pictures of all time. Me and Owen Nolan roaring with laughter started that threw me for such a loop. Oh, Nolan was such a well. I mean, he was the one of the most dad things ever that night to Declan had a tooth that got in the way in the back of Not that got loose sideways and was headed the wrong way. I had to reach way in with my thumb to put like an emergency medical procedure and thumb this tooth out of it. Yeah, it was. It was quite a hairy, scary. They don't know what's going on. I have the old man's hand in your mouth. You know what I mean? Like things are getting a little dicey Death kids just like Hey, you know what, You got a deep down in the esophagus, so your old man can stick his hand in there And then what I did was I came back out and laughed with all right. And then you got says, laughing with Owen Nolan, who probably has lost all of his original pieces. That's great. Yeah, so the Seattle crack and shows Boston defenseman Jeremy LA Zone with the first pick they introduced pending free agent Chris Reed dredger trigger. I'm shocked. You're bringing this up the first goal tender and they passed on Montreal's carry Price. Draeger, the former Florida goalie, became the first player to show off the crack in his home jersey and called it a life changing moment. Let's separate there. What do you think of the look? The colors and all that? It's okay. It's a big ass. They're throwing a huge ass at you says here right on the Jersey Octopus from the Seattle Aquarium revealed the pick of Detroit defenseman Dennis Kozlowski. Is there any connection to Paul Toronto's fourth? Exactly? My thought Toronto forward Jared McCann's name was written on a piece of paper attached to a fish at Seattle's Pike Place Market. See how they're doing the whole theme Conceptual? Yeah, nobody sexual thing. Uh, and this, but this blew me away. Seattle had the Stanley Cup. In 1917 as the Seattle metropolitans. I did not know that. Wait, What? They got in Seattle in 1917 was a pretty remote place. That's a good get up there to play hockey. That's a really good call, so I'm really Yeah, really, That's how would they get up there? Trains? Yeah. Damn past. The moose of Montana wasn't a metropolitan area at that point, I guess I don't know. Yeah. Fishing community. Honestly, they call themselves the Seattle Like small town docks. Yeah, it's money. That's nuts. That the Stanley Cups Been around that long in 1917 Stanley Cup finals, Uh, Seattle defeated Montreal. The Canadians were and are always involved. Yeah, uh, the inspiring story of they call them the Mets was chronicled in a book called When It Mattered Most. It was the first Stanley Cup found to be played in the U. S. He sets great trivia. I didn't know that. I don't know any of that. Yeah, man. Montreal was probably like when they got to Seattle. Where the hell are we? Yeah. I can't even figure out how to put my skates on here. But flannel anyway, so Marshawn Lynch got involved. Uh,.

They had their expansion draft the NHL Callie yarn Crow of the Predators. He was selected first. They also grabbed out under forward Jordan Eberle, Ian Panthers goalie. Chris Draeger. Yeah. All right. Thank you. Marco. Let's play that clip of Tom Brady with Jim Gray, discussing how he still held it as a motivation that there were a couple of teams that were not interested in his services. Do you care to Exposed to it was talking about because there's private things for me that are going to remain, uh, you know, motivational for me, so they know who they are. And then that the team you think they know? Yeah, that teams know who who were probably interested and Um Yeah. I mean, it's fine. I mean, everyone's got a choice to choose. You know, I think what you realize is that there's not as many smart people as you think. You know, it's just the reality. I think it's some. It would be a no brainer if you said, you know. Hey, You got a chance to get Wayne Gretzky on your team. Or you get a chance of Michael Jordan on your team out. We don't need them, you know? No, thanks. We're good. You know my mind. I'm kind of thing. Okay, Well, let me go. Let me go show. Those teams what they're missing and at the same time, let me go proved to the team that did bet on me and the team that really show that they really wanted me and committed to me so You know Tom Brady's not wrong there. I think at that time when Brady was available, he didn't feel like Michael Jordan. He didn't feel like Wayne Gretzky. Maybe Michael Jordan on the Wizards. Maybe Wayne Gretzky on the Rangers. But There were times I would I would imagine. I'm not sure. But in 2000 when Jordan wants to come back, he comes back with the Wizards. Does every team in the NBA want a 39 year old Michael Jordan? In the last two seasons of Wayne Gretzky's career. Did everybody want Wayne Gretzky? The answer is no. So he's not wrong because he is in that conversation. You know the greatest athletes of all time of their sport. Tom Brady is going to be in the conversation the same way Michael Jordan is the king of the NFL in Wayne Gretzky was will always be the king of the NHL. Brady is a little different because he's more specialized than those guys. Those guys the greatest overall player, not just the greatest at their position. That's the greatest overall player in the NBA and NHL. You would not say that about Tom Brady. Not in my estimation, but Again. Brady's in the conversation as one of the great football players of all time, and he is the greatest quarterback of all time. So he's not wrong and saying in his mind Hey, man of Wayne Gretzky is available. Don't you want Michael Jordan is available. Don't you want him? Again. The issue, though, is that the time that he was available We didn't know He had this left in him. He felt like he did. I don't think football universe at large Din, So it's it's a little disingenuous. But this is obviously what Tom Brady thinks how he thinks and insight into why he is great. He has forever play the Aw shucks card. I'm just trying to win football games. I'm just trying to do what's right for the team. All that. Patriots down the middle. Don't say anything type of tact. And here he is. Comparing himself to Michael Jordan and Wayne Gretzky. He understands his greatness. He understands his position historically, and so every time from here on out that he says he doesn't and I don't think about that. I don't compare myself to others. That's for other people to say. That's a lie. He he absolutely does. He's absolutely aware of that. And again, this is what is driving him now to be in the pantheon of greatest athletes of all time. And it is what makes him not. Stay stagnant at 42 43 years old to want to keep playing and keep competing and keep winning comes from comparing yourself not against Patrick Mahomes or Aaron Rodgers or Jimmy Garoppolo. Now it comes. You compare yourself to Muhammad Ali and Wayne Gretzky and Babe Ruth and Michael Jordan. And that's that's when you start. Digging into a different part of your motivation, because you can't just say Well, I want to. You know, I want to prove people wrong. Well, you've been doing that for 20 years now you've proved everybody wrong. Don't worry. You were six round graphic that works for the first five years. But what happens after you win three Super Bowls? These are the motivations you get to When we come back, we've got your advanced analytics and your epic fail. "Of the future. Remember Vegas to get more Condrey Fleurian their expansion draft carry price Not to be for some reason for Seattle last but not least when you think of Seattle weather in hockey, you may be thinking clouds, a lot of rain, a lot of dreariness and depression for as far as the eye can see. Somebody should have probably told the incoming draft picks that including former Islanders forward not Michael Jordan. Member Eberly. Yeah, it's beautiful. Um Obviously, the weather's amazing you get this backdrop behind me, but the more than a reception that we've got fans, um, turn off the boats, and, um it's pretty amazing, so I think obviously it's It's a weird experience and you're leaving the team you're coming. But when you get a recession in this to get excited The weather is amazing in Seattle for one day. Yeah, really Nice, huh? Everlys Mountains assessment was actually accurate, though, And with this roster, Seattle will need to climb one to get to the playoffs in year one. That is your Canadian crack and bacon like oy. Going, boy. One boy. What? So there was some real easy ones here? Some softballs. The price wasn't right. Yeah. You know, here we go. By the way first time we're doing this in person in a long time, so I'm a little more scared. Number two Star goalie. Carry them carry price. Not bad. That was actually a pretty good one. Thank you. Is that how you pronounce the number one draft pick yarn Crow Yarn Crow? Yes, spinning some yarn Crow. Yes, and the running back from Cali announced Cali Feel like there could've been a crow reference, though a torque Bellenger reference to the Crow park. There probably could have been I focused really hard on the yarn. Daydream. Draeger. Yeah, The goalies list Name is Draeger. I've got to be honest. I've never heard of the guy from Florida. But what's daydream Reference Daydream believer. Driggers. Sounds like believer. All Wow. Draeger believer. You don't hear Draeger and immediately started singing Daydream a dragger. I think you'd have to sing that for people to get it. Yeah, good point. It probably should have and not Michael Jordan Everly his name's Jordan Ember Everly. Didn't get Michael Jordan. Let's ask this hockey question. Do you like what the night said a couple of years ago. Going after veterans specifically high priced veteran Stanley Cup winning goal tender or do you like this tactic by the crack in All young guys cheap guys. Well, I have to side with Vegas because they made a Stanley Cup in their first year, and they're consistently one of the best teams in hockey right? And there were plenty of viable options for the crack into go after they could have gotten Vladimir Tarasenko. Now that whatever to sign him, that's a star player from the blues that won the Stanley Cup a couple years ago. It just it felt different. It felt like a different approach. It looks like they're playing more of the long game here, although it's hard to fall Vegas they've been in three conference finals at least in four years since coming into the league. So or two in three years. I've lost track of the years since coming into the league. Yeah, the crack in their their most notable player they got was 37 year old Giordano match here down on the captain from the Calgary Flames, But he's older. That makes sense. The flames getting rid of that contract, and there's even talk about them now trading him potentially in a deal that could involve Jack I go on a three team deal could involve the New York Rangers. So even a name you might have heard of Doesn't really add up, and I just think if you're bringing hockey to a city like Seattle, give them somebody a casual hockey fantasy. It'll might know somebody to sell the jersey if there and they really just don't have that right now. They have a bunch of young guys a bunch of third line type players, and they're going to try to build this thing. I don't expect the playoffs and I just think marketing wise. You want to get at least one big fish. Number two. Shawn Kemp is really big, huge. He's really big. They put a crack in T shirt on him, and it did not fit. And I think it was an excel. He needed a two or three act. Yeah, my guess is he probably gave somebody heads up here. I'm an excel in total denial. The only thing he's dunking right now is in a room. Yeah. Number three. What do we think about the uniforms? The jerseys. They were finally on players. They have the S, which has a little red eye, So it's kind of like the sea creature. And, yes, I guess it's supposed to kind of look like a sea creature as well. Yeah, it's like a sea dragon Crackin whatever you want to call it, and it gives you the yet They were fine. I think they were. They were just hokey enough for an expansion team. Seattle also is kind of an area where hokey uniforms have lived. I mean, they invented the deal with the Mariners. The Seahawks have looked like lightning bugs, but they also I don't think we're so off the wall where you don't take him seriously as an NHL franchise, so I'm not gonna tell you. Oh, my goodness. I love the crack in uniforms, but I don't think they did any harm. They're I think they're fine. I'll be honest. I always thought of cracking was a big squid type thing with tentacles that came up and Swallowed old boats. You know, from under the sea. I didn't ever think it was like a sea dragon. Yeah, I didn't think was a sea dragon. I thought it was more like a Squid or something, and these make it seem like it's more of a dragon. Yeah, it kind of actually had, like a little bit of a game of Thrones feel from there like dragons in the in the scene stuff, that's fine, but generally, I like him. I like the color scheme. It's kind of like a turquoise with a dark, dark blue and I said Cracking is a totally different name. You've pointed to wanting to teams to go more of that soccer route, like you know if they were called Seattle Hockey Club or something like that..

It's like we're going to win the Jennings Trophy or whatever we're gonna have a low goes against. And we're not going to have to worry about committing to one goalie to do that. We're going to be fine. No matter who we put in there to an extent, right? Right. Well. The the debate right first up by the way to follow up. Seattle collected 35,000 deposits for season tickets. Wow, in a matter of hours, and that was in 2018. Does it say if it's a one year thing or was there a multiple multiple year commitment does not say what I'm looking at 35,000. Deposits. But you're right about Winnipeg, right? People were buying for multiple seasons at at the beginning, and they weren't They weren't just locked in for one year. So all right to the to the point about the big money goaltender to that age old debate, which You know you of course, Want great goaltending. It's never been about you Don't want your goaltender to be good. It's about you playing a salary Cap league you're trying to find where you can expose inefficiencies and one of the places to do it. Somebody wrote yesterday tossed the attacks. This is not like running back and the answer is my opinion that it is a lot like this it and that's because you can get a really good one for You know one what 20% of the price And then if he's really good, like Grubauer was just really good for Colorado, and now he might want to get paid. So teams walk away from those goals. That's what the Islanders are doing. We're not going to pay money to a goaltender, not big money. Maybe someday they ultimately do. But for now, they haven't so on this debate isn't Montreal walking away from Carey Price? Potentially a big time. Check in the side of you don't want to do that. They signed into that monster contract And then immediately after he lives up to what he was supposed to They think I mean, if you Yeah, If you wanna go to Seattle, man, I mean, best of lock right. The biggest money, the biggest name the Oh, the guy that that the Penguins complained about last year in the return to play, we don't have to want to have to play Carey Price and then they lost to him. Right. You that guy Montreal just said like, Oh, yeah, that's fine. You can go. Yeah, Good luck. You know if if they ultimately take you, I think it is. It's a running back. It's similar to the running back because of the concept of how much money do you really want to put it? You have to pay a big name guy to be your goaltender. No, you don't. You know, the question is How do you get a goalie? You know, Like, what kind of assets do you used to find your goalie and then? How much would you pay the guy when his contract is due right when a big paydays come, let's say I don't know you pl or Omar? Let's say they re sign all marker. Upl is here in a year, and he takes the starting job and he runs with it. And his contract is up. How much you want to pay a goalie to stick around, You know, Would you go out on the open market and give a bobrovsky contract? Anybody? Well, no, you shouldn't. Because you don't hear Spencer night, Maybe Spencer nights the answer in Florida, Or maybe it would have been Chris Draeger instead. But they went out and gave Bobrovsky a huge contract. Why would you do that? So it is. It is kind of like running back. What do we say about running back? Well, it would be nice to have a really good running back. But you're not going to pay him a ton of money. And guess what? When he walks into free agency, you just go find another running back somewhere. Middle round of the draft. Whatever street free agent you can find another running back. No one ever, says It's not like I feel like people equate a discussion on whether you should pay a goalie $10 million a year that you don't think goalie is important. It's about the cap writes about the cap. It's the value of that contract. We're at places in the cap. What are you doing with defense? And what are you doing with forwards? And where do you put the value? Want a big money? Goaltender? Yes. You need good goaltending to win. Mean the Sabres haven't had consistent goaltending. I don't know Ryan Miller. It's been a while, Um so I understand you need and you know what the worst your team is in front of him. The nicer it is to have a goal who can stone everybody, But it's not an asset. It's not a position where You'd want to say Let's spend $8 million a year just to me. It doesn't make any sense because you can find other goaltenders and you don't need to spend big money to get a guy to come to your roster. It's it's um, I'm not trying to diminish the position. But if I'm paying $10 million give me the top center in the game. Give me the give me Kale Macara or if Rasmus telling turns out to be Kehlmann car? You know, I'd even give me I'll spend big money on a top goalscoring winger. Those Skinner obviously hasn't panned out the way they wanted. I would just spend money in those areas before I'd say I mean, it's trying to think like Dominic Cash if there was a dominant cash today, and his contract came up What would the Sabres do? Do you want to pay that guy $10 million a year and Max out an eight year contract and say, This is the face of the franchise. We're sinking money into that. I just don't think it's a good idea. On Skinner. Maybe hash. It is a bad example cause he's a once in a lifetime goaltender. Do you expect to bounce back from him or something? Well, Can I ask you? What's your What's your definition of bounce back? Can I get 20 goals from him? Yeah. I don't think that's a lot to ask. Do you think you will, though? Yeah. I think he will bounce back is getting 40. No, but I think he's not going to Jack Eichel feeding in parks, which 20 Skinner in that 40 goal seasons, scored all kinds of goals. He was amazing that year and he was on the top line and got a lot of minutes. You know, I know that we talk about Skinner like he has to be the worst contract in the sport..

"On a Tuesday and have a little fun with you today as we are asking you what is the best? Bills play you have ever witnessed in person. And I've got a few on my list. I'm sure Manny does as well. But We want to get to you guys first at 80305 50 open line for you there. 18885 52 5 50 Toll free or on the tweet sheet at one bills live. And as promised, we go to Eric and and over, Eric, What do you have for us here On one bills live. Yeah, I I was going. I'm going to say that in 2000 and three my first game. I've never gone to And bills are kicking on the Patriots. And I see Sam Adams for £350 defensive lineman. Pick off Tom Brady. Take it back or touchdown was like That's when I knew it's like I want to see this all the time. This is amazing. That was your first game. It was. It was my first the first game I've ever gone to. Wow. Even take it over now. 31 nothing. Manny against the Patriots. It's a good first game your good luck charm. It was it was. It was a great experience. So the Sam Adams? Yeah, that's a good one. Eric. Thanks very much for the call. Yeah. I mean, I can't imagine that being your first game and you just watched The bills. Let's see where they defending Super Bowl champs that year. No, not 2000 and three. No they wanted in 2003 the year before they didn't win. They won the year prior to that 2000 and one So Patriots come in season opener 2003. And the bill signed a bunch of free agents that off season, including Sam Adams to Kyo spikes, among others. And lawyer Malloy, who got cut by the Patriots that Tuesday. The bills signed him. And he played in the game because he probably had half the game plan. Yep. Um And he had a sack in that game, too. He sacked Brady, and he's tight with Brady but breakthrough four interceptions in that game. One will somehow wound up in the hands of £315 Sam Adams. And He Ran. I want to say about 30 35 yards to the end zone with a convoy of blockers. And I can tell you, you know when something is happening, like the Terran Johnson interception return for a touchdown. People have a long time to digest that even if you're at the stadium, you know what's happening, and now it's just a matter of will the play finish in the end zone. When there's a £315 man doing that. You're not quite as confident that it's going to wind up in the end zone, But you could quickly see there were five guys in front of him ready to block for him all the way down the sideline. And I am telling you, as God is my witness. The stadium was shaking after that play, and it wasn't because of Sam Adams running. It was because of the fans going bananas in the stands. Like If the place had a roof, it would have come off. Um, that is still one of the loudest days I have ever heard in this stadium. Um I mean, man, You're not expecting a defensive tackle to go 30, plus yards of the end zone for a touchdown that takes me back to Jerry Hughes touchdown against the Broncos. I mean, that was a blowout game, but still super exciting play. Yeah, and this game ended up being a blowout back in 2000 and three. Of course the bills would return would have the favor return to them in week 17 when they lost in New England by the exact same Score, 31 nothing. Ouch! And then the Patriots went on to win the Super Bowl that year, their second. Uh, let's go back to the phones, though, and we go to Bill and clearance for his best player he's ever seen in person from the Bills. Bill. What do you have for us? I'm going way back. I've been to a lot of games have seen a lot of great plates. The one that stands out for me was the very last game ever played it or Memorial Stadium, 17 17 tie With Detroit. A tie game is your best play, bill. The best play made it a type. Okay, so all right, help me out with the play, then. Okay. Late in the game. We're losing 14 to 7 Dennis Shah, who wasn't here very long through an air ball up to the end zone. And Bobby Chandler, who was one of the best possession receivers. Bills ever had was, Uh, Lem Barney was covered him on the one side of safety had him on the other side, just as they get to the goal line with his back to the ball. He twists up in the air. Reaches up And catches the tying touchdown. And I've seen a lot of other great place, but that one always stands out in my mind because that's you had to be at the game, right? So I was at that game, So the acrobatics of Chandler's effort is what sold you Yes, I mean, a plus. He was covered by an all pro and safety and they were I mean they were tight. They went up. They were body, the body and he just made a great catch, and he used to do that on the sidelines on Ferguson catch You go to the sidelines, put his toes down and make great catch up. But that was You know, I've seen O J 94 yard touchdown run against Pittsburgh. That was good. But that player just stands out in my mind, because baby Chandler was a player that I don't think ever gotten. Do? Yeah, that's a good one. Bill. I'll take it from you. You sold me on it. I asked you to sell me on it. And you did so good on you for picking that one. And I like when people kind of go off the board a little bit, Matty when we're talking about a quarterback that was here for A cup of coffee. Bob Chandler, though, is here for a long time as a possession receiver. The late Bob Chandler. Um, really a good possession receiver for this team for many of the lean years. I didn't know he was that acrobatic. I didn't see him play myself. I was too young. But, um, I knew he was a good possession receiver didn't know he had those kinds of acrobatics in his repertoire. So good call Bill, and we thank you for it. Next up, Maddy is Dave in Florida. Dave, What do you have for us? You're on one bills live. How you doing? You the greatest one I saw in person was that I was at the Super Bowl with Don Beebe. Caught. What's his name? Lot was Leon led by Leon, but that's the best ever. That was an effort that just doesn't go by. I think it affect you know the playwright. It effectively characterized. What those bills teams were all about during those Super Bowl years, I think you know that game was already lost by the bills. I mean, it was already a blowout. There's no reason for Don Beebe to run 60 yards to run that guy down, right? It's all about the effort, and I love that. Some of these callers and a lot of these people are tweeting at US two on tweet sheet. It's tying a play to an experience, and I think that's what resonates most with our fans and with people in general, when you're talking about best place that you've witnessed in person. It's tying that to your experience or your first game or something that makes it even more special than the actual play. Maybe because I mean this was a point, a game where Kelly adore have been knocked down and injured. And it's a fumble. I mean, this is he's going 60 yards to the end zone. Don Beebe ran a route down the field, so he's got to turn around and make up 15 yards just to get back to the line of scrimmage and he knocks the ball out before he gets to the end zone. So good on them for pulling that off. I'll tell you that, um We'll get to the tweet sheet here in a second, But there is news on the Sabres front. This being reported by Darren Dreger, and he is saying Don Granado expected to be announced shortly. As the head coach of the Buffalo Sabres, and that it is a multi year deal. So as we know, Um John Granada was the interim coach of the Sabres. Uh, After they said goodbye to Ralph Krueger. And there were a lot of pluses with what he was able to put together here in the short time. He was the interim head coach. Uh, obviously, after a long and lengthy search. They didn't feel they could do any better than don Granada. So it looks like according to Darren Draeger's report, Granado expected to be announced shortly as head coach of the Buffalo Sabres, So we'll keep you apprised of the developments there. And if anything becomes official, we will obviously bring it to you. But those are the reports that are out there now. And if there are any further updates, man and I will bring them along to you here on the show as we're with you until three PM so if there are any official announcements, any press conferences will make you aware. Of all of that. But Matty In the meantime, why don't we get to the aforementioned tweet sheet and tweet sheet is always brought to you by Corrigan moving Systems, the official equipment moving company of the Bills..

"This guy is going to play. You know, all four defense four D like that's not what it takes. It takes quality as you pointed out. Ribs and and petty, But I still think you need multiple pieces for Jack Eichel because he's that good and that quality of a player for salmon is different Now. I'll tell you this. I interviewed Brad Larson for something else, the new coach in Columbus and he said, And I was this quote. Our team is gonna look much different next year. Oh, wow. Okay, So it's not just said Jones is is your team in Columbus is gonna look a lot different next year. They're planning on training and goalie Corpus. Hello, armors. Lincoln's You guys that Jody Shelley, he talked about both of them. I really like Mars likens Korpisalo is is good as corporate solo a step again above walmart. I don't think so. But Mars Lincoln's I think could be long term could be really, really good. So that would be a good direction. But if they think in Columbus, the team is going to look a lot different next year. There's a big piece. Come in to help down the middle at some point, and Sam Reinhart would be a decent sized piece like they would have to have more along the way of other trades and acquisition they're going to do, but I think Sam would be a good piece there. They want. Yeah. You know what might have been a long time ago. But you've got two of the three gold medal line there with Max Domi and Sam Reinhart. If he if he goes there if they were pretty dominant together at the world Junior is not going to try to bring Anthony Duclair back and me. Absolutely. Yes. Absolutely. He was already there once. Why not Bring him back Instigators? W gr 5 59 machine. Go ahead, Greg. So what? I'm trying to say to you here, gentlemen, How do we feel about my my pick? Number one. The Sabres needed defense era goaltender. We know that we do know that Columbus Blue Jackets have two very good goaltenders, and they want to move one of them. The fifth overall pick. Which what Ellie Elliot said. It could be. You know, I'm not saying there could be a high pick. I believe that it could be a Sam Reinhart deal. I think I don't know him overly excited about number five in a goal because I go to the goalies, hit or mess and the number five's hit or miss. You're not getting any certainty back in your lineup in the Who do we have as a goal right now? Okay, We have Lena's okay. And he needs to be re Don't have Llinas. We do not have Leanness ribs lesson. Okay. He's still technically. Until free agency start and I finally in Seoul, Mark. I'm telling you, I will like yell at on the rooftops. You don't want to go to free agency because there's too many goalies as not enough chairs. I've been in that situation before. I was like, Oh, I've been to back to back playoffs Conference finals two years ago after Philadelphia. I'm going to get five plus million a year on a long term deal. It's gonna be great. And you know everybody is talking about Ha. There's there's a lot of goalies and not a lot of spots. There's a lot of only not a lot of spots and you know how long I was on the market for three weeks. And I got a backup slash a one A B third goalie situation with the New York calendars. That's what ended up happening and I'm telling you, they are leading us all. Mark. You don't want to go to free agency. That's my thing. But okay, let's just say that You have an option to maybe acquire MERS, Lincoln's or a goalie via trade, or you have an option to maybe acquired goaltender to free agency for a few years, So look at the names that are available on free agency Frederick Frederick Anderson. Antti Raanta, Uh, Peter Marais. Zeke. Jonathan. Bernie is still a really, really good goaltender at James, right? Am not crazy about James Robert, but he had a good season. Okay, you've got you've got a you know, you've got goalies that are available. You've got goalies you've got. 56 Brian Elliott older. But he could come in and be a backup mentor to anybody you would want. Um there is gold. Chris Draeger. I forgot about Chris Draeger in Florida. There is goaltenders available that you don't have to. To trade for you can just sign them. And Lance Lisovsky. Also sorry you were saying and I was gonna say, and it's not going to be where you're going to have to to trade and then sign them to a huge contract. They're going to take Two year deal because they know that market's flooded Lance Lisovsky also right. He's had more time on our show the last couple days, and he has all year. Another savers. No for you. All the Devils have interest in defenseman Rasmus Crystalline in, according to multiple sources, the Devils have the assets, picks and prospects that would make the deal work for Buffalo. Glaring need at right hand defenseman with Carrick. A U F A. So, um, you know they have the fourth pick. I don't know if you get the fourth pick overall for restore for sure, but I mean, there's there's a trade. There's a trade there to be made, so maybe it Maybe it's New Jersey. And what we're talking about here is, uh, Elliott Friedman, reporting that the savers could be in the running here for another pick in the top. 10 and Craig suggested Columbus. Anaheim also came up and obviously the L A pick. So I think this is more to do with Sam than Jack. What do you guys think? 100%. 100%.

I mean the colours than sunset. It is on the phone. I am so psyched. Phone goes in the water phone dead Goodbye. Videos never saw him again. Yeah, it was. It was well and like I said, But that trip the stupidest part was buying a freaking timeshare. Everybody's listening. Don't ever we, you know. Yeah, sure. We'll do. The presentation. We get free transportation from the airport to the resort. They're going to give us free breakfast. We have to sit through like a 60 minute presentation and say no. Yeah, Anyway. So what's new? What do you want to talk about today? Well, I can I can if you need a week in Kabul, by the way, let me know I can book it for you. I mean, maybe. Yeah. All right. I've got a little something for you. Maybe So every once in a while, people ask me like, Hey, Have you ever heard anything from the super secret Saber source? And it has been a quiet little run here. I heard something. Mhm and says his his ears perk up. Yeah, and I asked, Can I Can I use that and I did not get an answer. But I think it's not exactly the most shocking news you could here, So I'm just going to go with it because I think it's probably right and everybody is going to say, like, okay. I guess that's probably right. Did you do the all the President's men think I'm going to count to 10. And if you don't hang up, it's okay for me to say this on the air. And if you don't hang up, I won't use it. That will be a little bit of you know. Is that okay to say, and I'm making an executive decision here because Mm, The person did not get back to me. It looks like Granado. Very good. Okay, that's fine. That's that's the thing and I don't like I was trying to find out when. Yeah. How soon could this be known? Um, It's not, You know, I'm not telling you, Jack Eichel's being traded to the King's for four picks. No, it's just It looks like it looks like it's going to be Granado and as remaining his coach at the Sabres, which You know? It's not that shocking. Yeah, that he was probably the favorite coming in. He had the job. He did a good enough job. He had the respect of many players. He's worked with young guys before. And he got a lot out of the young guys. Yeah, within reason. So It looks like it's going to be Granado. And I don't know if anything will change that. If Brenda more all of a sudden becoming available would change that. If, um, you know, The Bruins just lost as their coach. Get fired. You might hear some calls for him to get fired. Who knows? Right? So it looks like it'll be Granado. I think it was Think it was Drager who tweeted the other day right that there might still be there might still be people working in the playoffs at the Sabres would still want to talk to, But, yeah, I think honestly, the only question there's a two part question here about Granado and if it is him Dragger again. I believe it was Drake. When Draeger reported the whole one of the guys they talked to was Rikard Gronberg Drager throughout the idea of Could it be as an associate coach? Could they hire Granado and then bring in Grand Bourg or I guess for the purposes of discussion. Bring in anybody else as a quote, associate head coach, not just a couple of the two or three assistants on the bench with him, but a guy who is a an associate head coach, Um you know, honestly, for me. The only thing about Granada would be okay when they played better. Two things one would would. Basically anybody have been better than Kruger behind the bench at that point and two. Is it playing out the string? No pressure and guys look good, because the games are absolutely meaningless for the last month or two of the season. It could be that my favorite stat that it's not exactly completely Bulletproof, but it's pretty good is that Granada was coaching a team with the salary cap of like $30 million. Oh, my gosh. Yeah, right that they had such a. You know when they're without Michael McCabe, The goaltenders. The guys they rolled through there. His team had a cap. That was that was pretty low. Yeah, so You know, like that's that's worth mentioning. I think maybe not 30 million, but yeah, it was. It wasn't exactly Yes, it was. It was half of maybe with the Yeah, There were times where the roster they were. Fielding was just so far below an NHL roster. This is where you make the joke that he might have to get used to that. But you know the idea of a young team and You know his style of play. I don't know if that works for Kevin Adams. But our conversations with Granado throughout the season were, I'll just say wonderful. Yes, they were nothing short of wonderful. He was very good to talk to. And if he gets the job as the full time head coach, then you know well, he'll have a chance to be the front door to the franchise a little bit and talk fans through stuff. More regularly than the GM. Does. The GM speaks to fans once every 23 weeks month, Maybe depending on the GM, you know, Jason Batra was with show up in the bulldog like every other week. Tim Murray about the same. The head coach talks about the team every day and whether it's zoom calls or it's in person that coaches speaking on every loss, every win, and that means that he is the most important figure in communicating. Who you are, what you're doing What's going on? Kruger was not good at that, especially in the face of losses. You know, Kruger has a lot of a lot of good words. Good things to say. But in the face of all those losses, those messages rang hollow. Granado..

"What's he going to do? Cute? Do you have a four string? They could go to the Oh, you know, I mean, Harry, you got Bob Boat? I mean, I thought as we pointed out earlier than he play, I thought he played pretty well. That one game you play except for the power play. And, you know, three power play goals. That kind of Really set the tone for the game. And you know on Draeger. I thought in the first period at Draeger didn't have it because I kept looking at him losing missing in the gold pad or the the catch with his glove. He wasn't finding the park real well and And, of course, then Barbara. She came in and in the third period, but that's two times now. I don't know. All right. Says you know that. Does that send a message to the goal is to not I just curious to see right now. You've got a young kid in there. He had a decent okay, uh Four games in the regular season. You know, he he won all four of them. His save percentage was It was good, not outstanding at me. It was 9 19, which is very good which you want to have. But Um, it'll be interesting to see right now. If I'm the find the lightning. I run a really test him early. I don't want to see this and they've got to get out of the second way is trying to pass the puck into the end of the net. You know, just start shooting out of my crazy really. Getting in front of the net, getting traffic there less what they started. Do when they became very successful. That Second game. That's what I I I'd like to see him do more of it, doing a very a lot earlier. Yeah, obviously have. Florida is really out shot the lightning and all three of these games they averaged about 40 shots per game..

So just to two things, 11 who was of course, the the when to drive got pushed into the goaltender. I mean, I slipped. I couldn't believe that they did call that corner. You may have discussed that already. I just tuned in a few minutes ago, but Deliberate on that last. Uh you're talking about one horn questions, sir Jeff from my then advantage, and when I saw they blew it up just a little bit. I don't want any push him into the boards, but he brought a stick up in the side of his shaft of a stick. Circuit chef in the job. I'm positive of that, and I don't know if you saw them, but that's what I saw. I just thought I'd throw that in there. That's a good observation. We did not We. Actually, Brian and I were talking about the coup trough penalty before we came on the air, and we were gonna get to it before we came to you, Bob, But you bring up a good point. I don't know how in the world You could call that a penalty, but they did. Yeah, when? When could drop through? Drove the natty had a partial break and wigger is coming down the middle and cutting the angle off and then wigger gave him a tremendous shove and Coach went right into drinker and head to head. They both could have been really out injured battery. I mean, Draeger didn't get up for quite some time. There. He got the blow on the side of the head. And coach the front of the face and the forehead. Sort of thing. Head to head plus the body contact as well. That was on weaker. That was Weaver's fault. Yeah, I don't go over the top very often, you know, on on the referee called just because it's sort of a waste of effort. A lot of times that I did lose my mind on this one. Yeah, I did that. Who lost their mind to was John Cooper around the 12 36 market the first period now he was getting on his team. You could tell, like, even towards the end, he's throwing towels. He couldn't believe some of the calls are being made. Yeah, yeah, that one that you had to look at it regular speed. You know, we looked at it slo mo several times, But, yeah, I mean the head to head I mean, do you think could drive actually went in there? Try to run the goalie and he's gonna headbutt him. He's trying to squirt Cole and I get that I get that the referees probably. Maybe not. Because I didn't even know it was had to head until I saw the slow mo replay. You see the collision, But it's full body impact of goaltenders sprawled out and so is Kucherov. And then what? Really bugged me afterwards was weaker, went over and sort of gave a little bump crosscheck to coach drop while he was down on the ice like Oh, you did that on purpose Really? I was open. Shen was in the vicinity. I was hoping Shen was going to settle that score right off the bat because that part really kind of put me over the edge. But that Carla, the call was ridiculous. It was flat out wrong. But at any rate we move on from that coach. RAF and Rigor continued the game on D ultimate like for either team. I never want to see anybody get hurt in a game. I don't truly even guys that I despise on other teams. Even when I was playing you don't you don't hit somebody to hurt somebody. Um, that's that's not the idea. But At any rate. Unfortunately, lightning. I've got two guys got injured in this game and couldn't complete it so Hopefully, fingers crossed here, Bob. Thank you. Enjoy your walk. 1 809 69 93 52. Yeah, I think you know, fans here in Florida. The die hard fans have been looking forward to this for a really long time. I know we have both organizations have. Last year we were spoiled in Washington team do so well in the postseason, win the cup, I'll be it. We couldn't be there. But you know, we were virtually high fiving everybody, you know whether it be on social media. Whatever parties people snuck their way into So with having a game here in Tampa, what I think is what Thursday night. I think we're playing at home the first home game every other day Sunday. It was every other day, So I mean, it's great opportunity for that. And hopefully no. Hey, you know, I think if you start off on the road, you look for a split, and I mean that would be great to win both. If you get a split down there, I think you know that could put you a little bit more in the driver's seat. It was good to see coach on the ice and Stamkos, What are you hearing in that regard with those guys coming back? Well, they look like they're fine to go. Pooch is actually under the five month mark when he had the surgery, and it's been done several times mean, um Johnny, Gord and breaking point on the Lightning alone have had hip surgeries s O. They know, and they usually doctors usually say the recoveries five months he had at the end of December, so he's actually just under the the end of May. At five months to be complete. He has looked great. He's been skating for a while, you know, ramping it up. No contact all that stuff lately. He's been in the full drills. It's great. I don't have any qualms about worrying about coach and all these guys are fantastic out and could coach Ross not your average guy would not shock me. That coach gets two or three points in the first game and for stammer. He's been out longer. That one kind of surprised me. I don't know what his issue is. It's lower body. Hopefully he stays for his sake and for the teams, But last year having played only, you know a couple of shifts and scoring that big gold eat. This is the time of year he waits for, so I really hope he's fine. Everybody has said, and it looks like he's ready to go. I watch him in practice. There's no limping. There's no sign of anything. I'm convinced that both of them are in what is speaking about the Florida Panthers. Now, the You know, they don't get a lot of TV time from the national network. So you don't see him a lot on SportsCenter or on hockey, you know, on NHL network, tell us about the Panthers and what they have to know this. I know they're a young and exciting team as much as I want to hate them. You gotta appreciate the effort that that organization Has put into rebranding it and rebuilding it. Yes, that's very true. Bill Zito just took over at the beginning of this season became from Columbus. He was assistant G. M. He's not a hell of a job. They are a very good team Joke. Anvil second year there behind the bench, three time Stanley Cup winner as assistant coach and twice as a as a head coach. So he is in experience. Guy may are built almost exactly the same upfront as the lightning are in my eyes. They maybe don't have that one extra real star player. But Barkov and Huberdeau are both just outstanding players. So if you if you match that off against point and Kucera's, then you say while we still have Stamkos, so that's what I mean. You still have one that one extra start. But what they did was they were similar and how the lightning developed they went into last year and with a lot of skill, even the year before, but not enough grit and not salted enough on defense. So they added, some gritty guys starting at the beginning of the year. Radko Buddhist on defense who could be running more familiar with him? Yeah, and write down the Sam Bennett out of the trade deadline from Calgary. He was a piece that I had on my short list when the Lightning last year picked up good growing Coleman, same kind of player and you see what those two did for the Lightning. Sam Bennett's been a hell of a condition for for Florida. They've got skill they can grind. They've got size, They can score on three lines, probably very much like the lightning. This is a tremendous matchup, but Broschi and Draeger are both solid goaltenders. But brass keys out to prove. Last year was an anomaly where he did not play well at all. And so he's got a history and he did beat the Lightning two years ago, you know, playing wrinkles. Yeah. So I mean, I'm in watching the Panthers and paying attention them over over the years. You know, Huberdeau, I think was a great pig Barkov like you mentioned, you know, I really like in which is about Bennett. He's a banker goes out there. He gets in the corners. He's just neon nasty out there. I do think it's going to be harder than expected. Serious. I know. I think it's fans. Sometimes. If you don't know the inner lines, you go like this should be easy, but it's not gonna be an easy ride for the bolts. No, not at all match ups. They're gonna matter. I think you're going to see a lot of tinkering. Old course of the Syrians by both coaches, and both are really good at it. Quinn Vel is a master at it. He's one cops. As I said, the second winningest coach of all time behind Scotty Bowman. And Cooper's one at every level that he's ever coached at..

"I'm sure if you went down the line in the locker room, Sure everyone's frustrated, so I'm not many, many different situation than anyone else. You can't sit here on media day and be happy that we're having this conversation. And you know, we should still be playing like that should be everyone's mindset, right? It should be. We're moving on to the playoffs. And, you know, we had a good year, and we're gonna try and win the Stanley Cup. That should be the goal of every player in the beginning. You everything. You know when that was our goal, and we started whatever. In December we reach it now that we have a hard year. Yeah, we did. I think when that happens, it forces everyone. Consider what I guess You could do better what you think they would the future holds Jack Eichel today. Check it out. W gr 5 50 calm or the Odyssey app. Here is Bill next I bill. Hey, guys, How you doing? Okay, Bill. Good. Good. Hey, um, it's kind of like the packer situation and a lot of ways except hockey. I mean, I don't know how you can blame anything. But you know, the people are running this organization. Been mismanaged for years. They've not been doing a good job. Anybody in their right mind would be a little memorialized by now. I thought the kid was pretty candid and very truthful. Um, and that was refreshing. And, you know, They got to do something to help this kid. I feel the same way and there's no way you can blame the kid. It's the organization. And not him, So hopefully they said one spike being spending some money and You know, doing something to make this team better. It would be nice agree. I think there's morte to find out about what happened. March 7th or right after March 7th. And maybe the sabers will want to tell us something that sort of pushes back against Michael talked. Or maybe they know the city still there, player and usually teams don't do that. That probably happened earlier this year. So we'll see. I mean, I think there is, though some the team deserves some benefit of that of the doubt for this whole issue about his recovery from that neck injury. And I just kind of think like he was already Finished first with them just because he had already been hurt. And the years of losing. We refer to the guys who come on the instigators, and they just saw they just always sound the same. And Maura gradually more and more sort of Um, like they've got that They've got their footing on like he's going This is the whispers in the past just different ways. It's been phrased. And idea guys you're talking about right? Draeger Friedman those guys? Yes, thanks. And so there you have that injury on Long Island and After that, Well, we think he might come back. I don't know. I feel like there's there's got to be more to that. Anyway. What? What was the question? I forgot. Just think I asked. How? How? How? How? How, how we're doing. Uh and I said good, And I lied. I'm I'm I'm utterly them or I'm so demoralized right now. I just It's not that it's not like it's genuine. I pride myself. I think we both do on just being real here. Um, but the sort of demoralized I am is Like crack, open a strong bottle of booze and stare at nothing, not look, I'm having a hard time articulating my opinions about the situation because I am utterly and completely demoralized. As a saber as a saber fan. It's a saber observer as someone who talks on the radio. I am like I feel like there's nothing in there. I just feel despair. I just It's just such a horrible situation that they're in. And I don't know how you can have a lot of faith in the people in power to get it back on track. You have to choose to Yeah, right. You have to choose how you have to choose to have that faith. Well, we're going to get to what can they do about it? But right now we're still figure out how they got here. "I think Draeger said that coyotes began they've got talent there they got, and they've got a they've got, you know, ekman-larsson they got pieces there but it seems like especially with new management in town with Armstrong. They could be looking at kind of just getting wiping the Slate clean and freeing up money and kind of months starting from scratch. I think Gregor said that the Kennedys are willing to discuss what anything on the trade front so make of that what you will in terms of who's available but something Fame, In a more position to kind of hit the reset button the Nashville where again, I don't know if it's the right move or not, but you know, they mention that Nashville. Could trade at home, right? But also they're not, you know, they're not inclined to do it just for the sake of doing it. Right like he's got another year on his contract. They're still I think dead playoff pictures and Chicago's coming back down to earth which again, I don't know why you're still trying to extend this kind of window that you have at you really don't have your Nashville, right? I don't know if what what run you're going to going to be going on break that might be complicating things a little bit. If for teams looking to acquire some of the guys Nashville has but for Arizona though, if you know gallons available, you know, they've got other boxes. They've got some defenseman who are on expiring contracts to get none of them are game changers like at home. But if you just looking for bodies, they've got a few guys and kind of look at Arizona, right? It's tough to kind of dog is up what Arizona wants to do because we were in this position months ago talking about the Bruins, you know, trying to get Oliver ekman-larsson from them and the team wanted to get that contract off the books wage. Considering that team also is like behind on his rent payments for their own Arena. It's not great. So you can make sense why they're trying to free up some cash. But.

Power play goal for Pittsburgh, and it's 21 Pence. That's Josh gets off on pens, radio rust with a goal and an assistant. He Crosby had himself two helpers on the afternoon as the Penguins win for the seventh time in nine games. 31 was your final, New Jersey had won two in a row after dropping out of their previous tenant. They fall back in the loss column a little bit earlier today, as well, will play the highlight one of the highlights from this one in the central Division. It was Florida feeding Nashville by a final score off two to nothing. Chris Drinker was in the net Syria, Brodsky has found his game of life. He's got a pretty good role, but Joel decided to go with Chris Draeger. Head of their game tomorrow versus the Tampa Bay Lightning in Trigger with a 21 save shutout. Sasha Bark off scored again for the Panthers and two to nothing victory. You see Sorrows was forced to make 47 saves for Nashville, a beaten twice as well in the two. Nothing final will hear a little bit more from that game coming up a little bit later here in the postgame show, but Florida Now at 44 points will Nashville remains at 27 is we take a look at the central Division standings so of the Lightning after today's went over the Blackhawks remain two points ahead of the Panthers. They're also now four points ahead of Carolina, which is just getting underway against the blue Jackets. They're approaching the midway point of the first period in that one in the Canes and Blue Jackets are scoreless and Columbus win tonight. Draws them even with the Blackhawks at 33 points, because the blue jackets you know I've gotten their stuff together a little bit lately there too, Oh into over their last four, while the Kanes have dropped to Nero after their eight game winning streak. So again scoreless there in the middle of the first period, and by the way, I think I mentioned this earlier that Columbus Blue Jackets in the Black Hawks do have the same number of games following tonight's Jackets contest in Raleigh. So it's not a matter of having games in hand when we look at the point standings between the Blackhawks And the Columbus Blue Jackets. Also in the first period, the Islanders have jumped out to a three to nothing lead on the Flyers. Boy, What a roller coaster. Philadelphia is going through a nine. Nothing loss a couple of nights ago against the Rangers, and they bounced back. And beat the Islanders, who had been red hot Now, in this rematch against the the aisles, New York has jumped out on top three Nothing that about midway through the first period as well. Also in the central, the other contest. Dallas is visiting Detroit. They're midway through the first period at Little Caesars Arena and scoreless so far the stars coming into this one a 25 points. That's only one point better. Then the cellar dwelling Red wings in the central Division. But Detroit has won three of their last four. While the stars they continue scuffling. They just can't seem to get anything together so far this season 36 and three for Dallas over the course of their last 12 contest, so There's a look. You draw the town NHL scoreboard Oh, when we come back, we'll take a look at our next game preview and have some final thoughts after this. "Of Calvin, Don second time tonight. Some friendly fire from Colin Deleuze defenseman involves the puck getting past him. So the goal credited the horn quest from Huberdeau and Radko goddess to make it 4 to 2. And after Ryan Carpenter took a slashing call with a little bit more than three minutes remaining in the game, Florida put the icing on the cake in front of the net, hears him around with a shot. These cars didn't take him long bark off off the face off, got away a shot from the slot, then worked the puck over to Jonathan Huberdeau, who hooked it pass. Delia for his first goal on the season is over. No. Yeah, his first from bark off and horn Qu'est at the 16 55 mark and that would close out the scoring panthers out. Shoot the Blackhawks. 10 8 that final period It was 29 24 for the game Hawks hell below 50% on the face off Dad for the first time this year, just barely, However, the only 1 49% of their drugs make that 47%. After going 50 50 in the first two contests against Tampa Bay Hawks credit with 13 hits compared to eight for Florida also credit with just four blocks shots. The Panthers collected 13 of those in front. Of Chris Driggers staffed 23 of the 25 shots that he faced. Meantime, Colin dealer gives up a five spot for the second consecutive game again a little bit of rough going with a couple of deflections from his teammates getting past him as he stops 24 of 29 shots Now in the game summary. They've been really slow down in Florida. They have yet to put the final one up. That includes the three stars. Rest assured, I'm gonna take a shot at this. The three star selection sponsored by Bud Light, there's a Bud light there. I'm assuming it's going to be a Panther sweep and the 12 and three stars going to some combination of two lots to rein in as well as Jonathan Huberdeau had a goal in to assist Patrick or Enquist likely what's terrain and had a goal and assist there could also potentially give it to Chris Draeger. Making rare start for him. He doesn't have a whole lot of experience, even though he's in a young goaltender, but drinker stopping all but two shots that he faced here this evening. So once again your final score five. You, too. When we come back, we'll hear some more postgame reaction from Florida straight ahead of the Blackhawks postgame show on 7 20, WGN. Good afternoon. "I mean, he's all offense and like no defense at all. But if you want to pitch it to me because they don't have any better options that you know, you put them with a dog. I like Kalo and maybe a balances out a little bit. I don't really buy that but you can pitch it to me, right that's better than what the game plan is right now, which is you know, you know, Patrice Bergeron's 35 do creatures 34. Yeah, we're a better team as we roll out her whole back and I and Jacobs Borel and people like, well you have to do that eventually. It's like well, yeah you do that eventually when either those guys are attracted and you can take a hit and you're in a bridge you or Bergeron is 31 and create she is thirty and you can you have four or five years down the road of what that core wage now is not the time to do that. So I really don't get what the game plan is. And again, this news can change. I can check my phone as we're done with this podcast and maybe they trade for a guy like Martinez or Schmidt or something like that. But right now I mean all these all have been doing today is checking my phone and seeing guys on good value deals get signed as the Bruins not doing anything. That's funny. I see these good value deals I say is it the Bruins is the birth. You know, we all have Draeger's tween notifications on and appear LeBron and everyone Rose the Bruins. I know it's the Canadians are oh, what's the Sabres or oh, it's the Flyers and and you know, it's funny. It's that time of year where you check your phone all the time, but you also mentioned the Vegas aspect. So we're recording this Monday night. It's 7:53 right now, as I said that so the the golden knights just signed Alex pietrangelo seven years eight point five million per year. I believe twenty-eight I think eight point eight eight point eight million. It's a stinky contract. I mean really not great. That is a just giving up a first-round picks later down the line, but now Vegas has to trade off somebody they have to free up cap space and the the the feeling is it will be someone like Alec Martinez could do four million next year could solve bloodshot defenseman or Nate Schmidt who's dude 5.8 million, I believe per year until twenty twenty-five twenty-six, which name? Is on a contract that excites me much. It should really excite anybody. It's not a good contract. That is a lot of money for someone like Nate Schmidt. But but they're letting their definite top for guys. I'm more so if you had if you have to pick between the two cuz I think that is the obvious move. The Bruins should make for one of those two. I think the easy move is Alec Martinez, you know, she cuz you know, someone said this on Twitter, I forget who it was I I don't mean to, you know, take their opinion, but I thought it was good one. And the sense that you don't know where this team is going to be any year Martinez is a guy in a year get a year out of them in your top for veteran guy proven winner scored those that huge Cup winner, which was like insane. I mean, it doesn't like doesn't mean he's unbelievable. But you know, that was a crazy..
