Let's see if we can save you some money on an appliance repair. Give us a call at 808 590. W. J. R. That's 800. 8590957 And we're gonna go to Ross in Detroit, and before we do, we're going to go to the station and listen to Daniel Mason on what's happening this Saturday. Okay. So right after the home, an appliance show 8 to 9. We have the car show, then 9 to 10. We have the rich Paul show and then the inside outside, guys. They're gonna be on for three hours today, Going from 10 am until one o'clock this afternoon. So that's what's happening on Tubby chair this morning. Thank you, Danielle. And let's go to Ross in Detroit. Good morning, Ross. Thanks for calling an army. We help you. Good morning. I'm calling in regard to a design of these. You know these small compact refrigerators that college students take to the dormitories. Yes, sir. The back of it when I looked, there was like a little ball back there, but it's like a black ball. But it doesn't collect any dust like these regular refrigerators do like when you told me that Clean out the refrigerator content, sir, with the brush and everything. Um He was a good tip. But these these little refrigerators don't seem to have that problem like there's no dust that there s so I was wondering what's the difference of the design is there because it's got no fan back there? Well, the design has the condenser. That's the black oil, black wire coil steel coil. The condenser is built into the cabinet instead of being exposed like your home Typical refrigerator. It's built right into the cabinet, so the heat dissipates and leaves just by gravity. You understand what I'm saying? I see. So that's why these these little figures don't collect dust. Correct. Right? So and the thing about the little refrigerator as you mentioned the call it the mini refrigerator. Is that they go to the school's dorms, and there's hundreds of thousands off them and the kids at school. They see the evaporator inside getting full of snow. So the first thing they do is well, they realize they've got to get rid of the snow. So they use something sharp made of metal to scrape off the snow from the evaporator the aluminum part inside that from the freezer freezer part? Yeah. Right so that aluminum is paper thin. And if you're gonna use metal on that, and you strike a little hole in there, it's not hard to do. And it's done millions of times. Okay. Uh then you've just destroyed the refrigerator. Can't you can't Well, that you can't sort of that. So is totally destroyed because somebody used they should be using like a rubber spatula. If they're going to open the door and take a hair dryer and put some heat in there and get a towel. Put it on the floor of the little freezer Little refrigerator section Uh, to gather the water and they should use something made of rubber if they're gonna scrape any try and scrape any of that snow off. Yeah, well, I've got snow in in my, you know, in my little compact refrigerator. I got snow in there. And it keeps it extremely cold in that area. I find these very very fiction. Refrigerators, air. Very nice. Uh oh, this one Just wondered why they didn't have that same design for the Viguerie figures so that you wouldn't have to, you know, Brush the condenser. Well in in the old days. You did have that you had a condenser that was a wire can answer all on the back of the very back of the product outside on the back. That whole condenser went down the whole back of the product. And so again, gravity played a role, but somewhere in the early sixties 63 or something like that. They invented a condenser and put it underneath the product with a fan motor to move the air Cross it, and that's critical that it be kept clean as well. Very good questions from you. Okay. Well, here's one thing that you know that the contract we figure out what's that little ball back there? There's a little black ball. What's that? I don't know. It looks like it's smaller than a volleyball. But it's in in back in the refrigerator. Don't know what that design is, but I don't see that in the regular refrigerators, okay? Thank you. I was just curious and a nice very nice of you to call Ross Educational. That's what it's all about. Thanks so much. Okay. I was just gonna ask you another question. If I could. Go ahead. Okay. You know, William Shatner's on TV talking about the sleep that we machine how you can claim the tube on that sleep apnea machine. You know, I have a sleep apnea machine. Yeah. Yeah, I was wondering if you had any tips on cleaning that tube because, uh, You know, he wants you to spend $200 for his machine that you know, supposedly cleans it with steam. I don't know how how he created. I had an idea. Maybe putting in a dishwasher, but I don't know. Uh, I try to clear with vinegars my best way to the queen that sleep at me to sleep apnea tube that because the machine I was wonder if you have any ideas about cleaning it. No, I've got to tell you, Ross, uh, I laid down and closed my eyes and then 30 seconds. I'm gonna sleep so people don't have that problem here. I know right when I get to that problem all inquire about it. Yeah. Yeah, well, it's a plastic. It's a plastic tube, you know, so Not easy to clean. I use vinegar for pretty much, but you know if you don't you don't want that problem. But if you do get that problem is sometimes better to sleep on an angle. You know, if you have, like, a more questions up their sleep on an angle, it's easier to breathe, You know? All right. Thank you very much. No, thank you very much for calling. Tell me why I'm up so early because I might sleep at me. She didn't work last night, So I'm up so early, so okay. Bye Bye. Take care. Bye bye. All right, well, we worked on the subject of major home appliances and we invite your phone calls the jointness and asked the question.

One more time. 808 590957 Joe, and, you know, Donald, I wonder what time people get up to listen to this radio program. And they gave up early, and I think sometimes you and I who follow the course of Paul W. Smith, who has been doing this every day for years and years and gets up sore early. And I am I. Sometimes I say I couldn't do that. But guess what we do, do it. You and I both on the weekends were up early while this morning somebody beat us, Donald Somebody beat us in getting up. Lady named Kiss that me and Gina at 406 this morning and another lady sent me another. Text Betsy at 5 20 this morning. And so I'm going to answer those two e mails and more throughout the day today, as I do every weekend, today's hockey story has to do with White haired old appliance doctor who once played in over 30 leak. And I was a bit mischievous, so to speak, and had a lot of fun with those guys so much fun. Never forget the days that camaraderie but One day I went to the ice rink and there was a game going on before the one I was going to play. And so I brought a can of a small can of whipped cream. And to the ice drink and hid it in my pocket. And then there was a gentleman named John all to believe his name was and he probably still alive. And he got a penalty. So he wasn't too happy about the penalty. But I went over to the penalty box, and I said to him, John, let me look at this new helmet you got on which is white. I said, Let me take a look at that. I'm thinking about getting a new helmet. So he handed me the helmet roughly because he was watching the plane. He was mad about being a penalty box and So anyways, I put some with cream in his helmet and handed it back to him, and he didn't even look at. He just put it on his head. And then he's got this whipped cream floating down a chic and he looked at me and he said, you know, and he's looking up at the ceiling, he says. I think the roof is leaking on the ice rink. I said, Really? Yeah. You think he's looking up? And then he realized while meanwhile I had about 15 guys sitting there. They all knew what I was gonna do. Laugh. My goodness. I still think about that. John Ault. Nice guy. That's my little AKI story. For this morning. You confirm my theory and life, Joe that anytime there's whipped cream involved other than Thanksgiving dinner, pumpkin pie. Usually some shenanigans going on 808 590 W. J. Thank you for calling And how may we help you? Good morning, Joe. Thanks for taking my call. Hey, I have a world pool oven. That I replaced the igniter in the broiler and it went out again. So I'm wondering if there's another problem that's causing. They have to go out. How long since you changed the igniter? W couple weeks, three weeks, maybe. That's all. So my quit. First question is to you. Did you touch the igniter with your finger? Ah, that's possibility. Yeah, that's exactly why that's exactly why the igniter went back. The oil on your hand. Okay, On the end of your finger touches the igniter and that creates a hot spot and causes the igniters a short out on you. I see. So the next one you buy. Don't touch it. Where rubber gloves are well, just don't touch it, you know is very fragile to begin with, right, right. And it is a where they're not instructions in the box was came in a box with all that foam packing and so forth, right? Yeah, but you know all that girls Yeah. Radio Anyways, Lesson learned. The other thing is, Do you use the broiler all the time on your stove? No, but occasionally we do. Yeah, well, you can switch the igniter. You know how much did you pay for the nattering? Remember that I think was $67. Okay? They're not cheap. Okay? No. They used to be well over $100 when they first came out. Well, and they were weaker than the ones that are on there today. There was not the strength they have today. But still you can't touch it. Okay. All right, Joe. I will make sure I don't touch it this time. And, uh, thank you for taking my call again, and that's good to hear that you're back and wjr. While I'm having a lot of fun. I'm not leaving again until I have to go in a wooden box. Yes, we begin the radio programs these days with hockey stories of the days gone by, and this morning story is about Johnny Wilson, hockey player of he and his Brother Larry joined the NHL way back in the early fifties, played for the Red Wings for years, and Toronto and hey, was quite a guy in the best storyteller ever in the NHL. Now Johnny and I and Bill Gatsby and joke Okay, used to do a radio program on WJR in the evening on Saturday nights. And we'd flood the lines with collars. Kids in particular. Who had hockey cards and would call into the show from Vermont and Florida and California and all over the place. And so one day on the weekend, my son Andrew, and I were doing the radio show together, and Johnny called me on a Friday night, said Joe. The washer is not working. I said Johnny, listen to Andrew and I are on this weekend, Saturday and Sunday, and the show was in the afternoons and early or late morning and I said, Look at Andrew and I'll stop by the house. Take a look at the washing machine. Which we did on a Sunday afternoon, and Johnny who was known to be Uh, tight with the dollars which you have to remember. Those NHL hockey players all have to work in the summer months because they didn't make enough money. T even afford two cars. Let's put it that way. So, uh, Andrew and I went over to Johnnie's house and Johnny like he wanted to know. What I drank. So he called Mitch, the bartender at Giannopoulos, his restaurant, Nast. Um, what does Joe drink? Was that special drink? Well, Joe drank drink that you had to sip. Nice and slow DRAM bully and Southern comfort for any. Anybody buying DRAM bully. They know how expensive it is. And so Johnny and I walked in the house. And Johnny says you tell me what you drink, So I got everything there is here. I got everything. And so I said, Well, grand bullying, So I got it. I got it. What? He had just gone to the store to buy it. Which he called Mitch at the bartender John Office to tell him you know what a bottle of Drambuie cost Holy Corolla. They're so anyways. We sat down in the living room and Johnny Fix me a drink, and Andrew said, I'll go look at the wash machine. So hey, does he fixes no matter of five minutes, And then he says to a Johnny says, Mr Wilson, he says, I'm going to go outside. And I'm gonna check out how your dryers blowing hair out through the vent line. I want to make sure it's clean, clear, So so Johnny gets up and he goes into the laundry room, and Pat looks at me and starts laughing and I said, What are you laughing for? She says Joe, he's never Never in his life used the washer and dryer. Better. He doesn't even know how to turn on the dryer. Also, we sat there and big smiles on our face and Andrews outside and he's yelling in the vent line. Mr. Wilson turned the dryer on now. And we wait and we wait and Andrew yells again, Mr. Wilson. You turned it right on there. Are you in there? Yeah, Andrew is is Andrew is that Can't turn it on. I don't know how. While Johnny Pad his wife and I laughed our heads off and fi. Finally Pat had to go to the locker room to turn the dryer on. But it goes to show you how the wives of days gone by in the NHL. How They ran. The whole family raised the kids, and I've talked to a lot of the wise really, and they had a chore on their heads because these guys were gone. You know, a 55 games a year, whatever. And it was quite an experience and quite a wonderful experience because Johnny Wilson Why's that kind of guy and unfortunately, both. Just a few years ago, both Pat at Johnny both passed away. But that's my little hockey story about Johnny Wilson this morning. Which brings so many fun memories back tomorrow morning. It'll be you know, as I said so many times. "Is Donald the hammer Schuster. Thank you. Appliance. Dr. Joe Gannon, Joe, We're going to create a new cliche today. Have you ever heard the cliche? The early bird gets the worm? Yes. I've heard of many times. I've done heavy research. Our listeners are not interested in worms. They're interested in getting their clients. Questions answered. We love our early warning. 605 a m story, Joe, What's What do you got for us today? Well this morning, I'm going to repeat not repeat a story but repeat the name John Ferguson. And Brian Bugsy Watson, both playing for Montreal, Way back in the early sixties, mid sixties and just a couple of terrors on the ice. John Ferguson was a big man and a tough man in the NHL. One of the tough guys in the league at that time and bugs. He was just a little guy, but just the stuff and they got into well. John Ferguson got into a fight, which was normal and he was batting away and having a good time and enjoying the fight, as they do in hockey and So But Bugsy who liked you know they're both on the same team. So Bugsy come flying in down the ice and he sees the fight going on. So he jumps into the fight and He hits John Ferguson, his own Blair right in the eye. He leaned over and John moved the wrong direction and bugs. He nailed him right in the eye. And John and Bugsy. We're sitting up this outing I was at anyways, They're sitting there and having a pop and John says the Bugsy. Oh, I remember that one. I remember that one, he says. When you plug me right in the eye, he says, and then we went and sat in the penalty box because we both got a penalty. And he said, My eye was just throbbing, Just throbbing. He says that I kept looking at you and I'm I. I wanted to give you one right back. But he says I couldn't He says. Here's 20,000 people in the Montreal form and he said, but I couldn't needs that. But I wanted to so bad, he says. Matter of fact, it feels so good, he says. Just thinking about it, he says. I would like to give you one right now in payment of that one back in the mid 60. Well, nothing happened. We just laughed our heads off. But that's just a little story about John Ferguson and Bugsy Watson and next weekend I'm gonna let me get being given one personally personally about the Johnny Wilson days. You know Johnny Wilson, Bill Gadsby and joke. Okay, but the three of them used to come to the station on a Saturday night. I think it was started at 10 o'clock at night. We used to do a radio show for a whole year. And, uh and the kids used to call from New Hampshire. You know how strong the signal is. You know, at 10 o'clock at night. They used to call in and say if I send you your hockey card, will you send it back to me Signed, Uh, Bill Gatsby told me, he says, I get more email now more more letters. He says then when I was playing for 20 some years in the NHL from the radio show, it was a great time with those guys. Donald, Let's see what happens here on the call screening. And that was good stuff. "Done our job here on the home and appliance radio program and let me introduce The key guy here on this radio show our executive producer Donald the Hammer, Schuster. Thank you. Appliance. Dr Joe Gannon, Joe, am I correct in my assumption that you were feeling physically good this morning? Absolutely good and better after you straightened all this broadcast stuff out, And so this is my point. Dear Listener, the appliance Dr Joe Gannon didn't show up this morning for his health. He's got it What he came for us to answer your question and help you out, and that's what we're here for. So let us help you out by giving us a call. I'll give you the phone numbers. This is a good time to call. You know the stories just opening. You can walk right to the sex and you wanna shop in that kind of a thing. Here's the number 808 59. Zero W J R Any kind of appliance repair question. We all own appliances. We've all had appliance problems. We've all had to pay for repair. We'd all love to avoid a cost in the future. Maybe Joe can help you 800. 8590957 give us a call right now. Jonah, and I'd like to begin the show with a little hockey story. As people know, I played hockey in one time, and it's about a good dear friend of mine for many, many years, and some of you will be very familiar. With Ted Lindsay, the terrible Ted. They called him 100 and £65 of dancing Dynamite with a short two inch fused and let me tell you that fuse could blow any time when he was planned the NHL hockey game. Head came from Kirkland Lake, Ontario. His father was a former gold tender way back in the twenties and thirties, and Ted Well, I once asked a mountain, the scars he had in this face, and I think it was on his face alone. 900 some scars he worked out with the Red wing team. 23 times a week down the Joe Louis Arena. He passed away here a year ago, and I had the distinct privilege, the honor of representing Ted in a women's Hockey League and Ted Back In the 19 eighties, there was 87 started women's hockey and Canada and the United States. When the girls got together and called for ice time to rent, ice time and Eddie Edgar Arena in Livonia and the man there said, Well, I'm sorry, we don't We don't rent ice time to Womens Womens hockey team. Well, that's when they got ahold of Ted Lindsay. He called Eddie Edgar Arena. And announced to who he was. And they said, Well, yes, sir. Mr. Lindsey will honor this request. And so the girl's Hockey League started and I had the privilege here just two years ago of being honored to represent Ted Lindsay, who was at the time To l to do so the first time in years and anyways, I went to the hockey games. They had a tournament, I think was six or eight games. And I had to drop the puck in honor of Ted and I had to present the trophies to the winners, and I had to go in the dressing room with the women to talk about how to use a dishwasher of all things that are key game and anyways, a couple of the women were scantily dressed that as they remove their hockey gear, that was quite an experience, but all the time I was there representing my good friend Ted. Lindsay and I asked him to dinner one night now, Ted, you know you were a total gentleman off the ice total. Gentlemen always sign autographs till there was no more to sign and talk and make those speeches and I said, but tell You were such a total gentleman off the ice. But you're awful mean on the ice, and he looked at me square in the face right by the eye, And he says, you know, I wasn't paid. Be a gentleman on the ice. So that's a little story of my little relations whose large in my life with Ted Lindsay, Terrible, Ted. We're going great hockey player and I have the privilege of also skating with him with the Red Wing alumni and several games and we had a lot of fun. Donald. That's the end of my hockey story for you Love your hockey stories. All right, we're making contact. We're ready to go with your phone calls. The number is 808 590. W J r. We're here for you alive Sunday morning, December 27th 6 13 am 800. 8590957. We're gonna go to London. We're going to go to New London. We're going to go that new London, Ohio Far first call Joe for question regarding a tap in microwave oven. This is Ty. Good morning, Ty. Thanks for calling And how may we help you? Good morning, doctor. And a merry Christmas and happy New Year to all of you and your staff. Love the show Love the hockey stories. You know, I have a question. I have a tap in microwave. It's approximately 14 years old. It's one of those under the Cabinet models. It's done good service, but lately lately, the last few months When you open the hatch. Whether it has been running or has been sitting idle. When you open the hatch. You will get A Something comes on and it's underneath. Where that little glass turntable is in there. It's not the exhaust fan. I've I've checked that out. It's I Unfortunately, I have misplace the manual for it, so I was not able to check it out myself. But I'm wondering if I've heard you speak of microwave ovens is having Several redundant switches. So you don't fry your brains when you're operating them. Um S so what happens is the turntable vibrates. There was something on under there. It doesn't spin completely. It just vibrates like there's something Motor underneath. It is trying to work even though you have not activated to microwave. Can you help? Well, number one. It sounds like that motor is bad that stir motor. They call it and why is coming on When you haven't even activated? I don't know the answer to that that zone the control factor. You have touched bad control on this right is not God dials. No, sir. Touch bad, All right, So there's one part of the problem that's starting to react. And so my first comment is sounds that's motor should What do you have a problem with the touch fat or not? When that motor's running, that should be nice and smooth, So that little motor which is rather expensive? I don't know exactly what it cost. That little motors rather expensive. You've got to take the microwave out. You gotta take the casing off of it. You got to get underneath the microwave, and there's only a couple of screws that hold it in place. Again. Expenses of factory We're talking about 14 year old microwave and you don't want to spend too much money. The other thing is on the touch pad. I'd like you to try something that has worked for several cars. Several consumers. Who have explained what to do, and they've written me or call me on the show and said, Hey, it works. And the factor is that the touch pad control senses the electricity in your body. And counter acts what it's supposed to do, so I tell people pull the plug on it. Let's kill the electricity to the microwave oven for one hour. Okay, not five minutes for one hour and then take a perfectly clean cloth. Dampen it. Don't soak it, dampen it with white vinegar. And wipe off that control pad completely and then dried with a piece of Kleenex tissue paper and let's see what happens there. If you call me next week and say Hey, works like a champ. Well, you did the right thing. Okay. All right. I will do so I have heard you speak of that. I will do it. When I get home from work today. We'll give it a shot. And if it if it doesn't care, the symptoms then I guess Mama's getting a new microwave. Okay. She'll be very pleased with that. I'm sure Thanks, Ty. He's very much take care. You take her? Welcome back. It is Sunday morning. It is 6:17 A.m.. And just like when Case occasion was on American top 40. He would.

"It's the soft, mellow voice off. Donald the Hammer Schuster. Good morning appliance. Dr Joe Gannon for our audience. When Joe says we appreciate you tuning Assan when we're on Here's what he's referring to during the football season. Our show can be bounced around. So our regular time. A Saturday morning, six AM to ADM. Sunday morning, six AM Stadium. If there's a Michigan State game on Saturday, the schedule could be a rearrange. If there's a Lions football game on Sunday, the schedule could be arranged, rearranged. So just know that that's why we sometimes bounce around. But oftentimes if we're not on Saturday morning, we're right after the Michigan State football broadcast on Saturday afternoon, but that's what happens once football season has done. It's smooth sailing ahead. Now. Here's a pop trivia question just to awaken our audience this morning, So they're ready to give you a good sharp questions that you could answer. Joe, What is the difference? Between Joe Gannon this morning. What's the difference between Joe Gannon and Matt Patricia and Bob Quinn of the Detroit Lions? Well, hell joke. It is working. That's right. You again. It's got a job, you know, And nobody is not saying that mathematicians about Quinn. We're in great guys. But sometimes a change needs to be made. And evidently, that decision was made yesterday. Well, let's make a decision to call Joe Gannon this morning with your question, because that's how the whole show works. At the phone number is 808 590. W. J. R. So this is the first time we're giving it out. So grab something to write with or put it right in your phone. 808 5909571 more time. Nice and slow. 800 you can throw that one away. You remember that 800 So all you gotta remember now is 859. 0957 got a loyalist on the phone right now. Joe wants to know what brands of appliances to buy. She is from Clinton. This is Elena. Good morning, Elena. Thanks for joining us this morning. How we we help you? Good morning. I am building a new home. And I am certain toe look at appliances, and I'm just needing some Advice as to what is the best bring into by of each type of appliance? Well, I like to say, Listen, I'm an all American guy. I want to see people buying all American appliances and it's difficult to do in these days today. Because these appliances are made to look so much nicer than years past, and people tend to look at the appearance of a product, but I'll just I'll just start off by saying this to you. If you purchased an LG refrigerator between January 1st of 2014 and December 31st of 2017. That's three years. If you purchased an LG refrigerator, you should go to your computer and look up l g class action lawsuit because l G is now giving people back their money, their total dollars that they spent on these refrigerators, which means They've got a serious problem, and they're making restitution to consumers who have suffered many times for service calls and products that won't run. When you're talking about refrigerators try to stay with the American made product such as G and World, Paul. Yeah. There's one brand of product that I am gonna mention by name washer and dryer. I've said it 1000 times and continue to do so. Because speed Queen is the best washer and dryer you could buy in the market today. And by by far the best washer and dryer. If you want a washing machine that has a 35 or seven year full warranty, and I mean that means you pay nothing any time. There's a problem. A different models have different lengths of warranty. But speak queen is the only one that can say that They got the quality and the product that they can do that and not lose money on the deal, Dishwasher I am a Bosch believer of dishwashers. And they're not perfect. They have some problems once in a while, but the only guy that's perfect doesn't make dishwashers in this world today, but Bosch dishwashers and my rating Stoves. I believe in G e and world pull again. Again. American made products. So go shopping wisely when you're and don't let us sales person can you into buying a product that you shouldn't buy? Because I'll tell you, I get tons of e mails from people every weekend. The emails come flying at me, and I love him. I just loved to answer questions for people to teach them. What's good? What's bad? What the differences So you go shopping and any time you need to contact me when I'm not on the air? Well, Donald the hammer Schuster. There gives up my email address. Every program were on several times You'll give that to you. And you're always invited to let me know what your question is. E do have just a follow up question. Yeah, I'm doing a induction cooktop. And so My budgets kind of going toward that I had priced out this speed queen. So I'm thinking that I name Shifted my budget money a little bit to the induction cooktop. Do you have Ah! Another recommendation for Washington dryer. Yeah, I wouldn't be afraid to go with General Electric or World pool. Uh, but you remember this. Okay? The average life of washing machine today is 7 to 10 years on speed queens literature, They put it in writing. You can expect 25 plus years on this washer and dryer, so you may spend a few dollars more for a speed queen. But if you spend $700 for a world full and You spend $890 for a speed queen. The difference is gonna nail you down the road, so and you'll also you'll be questioning the wash ability factor. Are you happy with the washer?.

"I noticed those will public water outside at the foot of the bridge, Aerator. So I opened it up and I pull out the bottom deli drawer and on the visa is a puddle of water. And ice. And I defrosted the fridge Aerator. And I actually checked those little drain tubes in the back. And they seemed to flow fine. When deployed water through him. It's coming down to the bottom, so I know there's no lock it so I just don't understand why it's It's freezing up and then sought out dripping all over the floor. Well, how are you pouring water into the drain tube? I pulled the panel off the back, actually. Yeah, it is a little tray with the condenser. I believe it is right. Yeah, so I after I defrosted it completely. I just poured water into that bottom tray, and it went down the tube down bottom in refrigerator somewhere. All right. Well, I want you to use if you would now. Okay. My favorite tool. Which is called the turkey baster. Most people have one in their home. So fill the turkey baster with warm water, not boiling but warm water, stick it in the hole and squeeze the bulb on the turkey baster and do that at least three times. Because when you pour water in see the tube's got a U shape underneath someplace, and when you pour water in it moves whatever debris is in there. Lets the water out. Then the debris stays there. That's why the turkey baster becomes a great money saving tool. Let's put it that way. Oh, yeah, and it works, Doug. I've been doing it for 100 years. The most most common service call in America is Okay, So you think there's a blockage in there? Yeah. And if there is, you're going to knock it out with that turkey baster. All right. "Those things those things happen, Okay? Yes, but Yeah, that's a good cure for it. Ah, Can you turn off the freezer and leave the fridge on? That's okay. Well, the fridge is not going to get any Let's put it this way. The fridge is controlled by the freezer. The same air that's in the freezer also goes into the refrigerator. Okay, because the air always circulates through the freezer. So if she shut off the freezer Then you're gonna have warmer temperatures in the refrigerator, But I wouldn't worry about that. You did the right things, Laura. What if it should happen again? What should we do? Well, the hair dryers, usually the treatment that people can use. Without buying parts and so forth, But but we couldn't open the door the second time. Well, that door's going to open one way or another, okay and takes his brute strength. Is to email the appliance Dr Joe Gannon directly at his own personal email, and that personal email address is the first four letters of appliance followed by the first four letters of Dr At gmail dot com. So it's a P p l d o c t at gmail dot com. Out to Macomb, Michigan. Now, Joe a question about his refrigerator from Joe. Morning, Joe. How may we help you? Morning, Joe. I have analogy side by side model 25984 and the icemaker refuses to make ice hold, Is it I'm going to guess it's about 10 years old. All right, the icemaker is still workable. And what's it not doing? Is it not making ice at all? Or are you having problems with clumping or anything like that? No, it was producing water in the water dispenser, right? But no, I was not feeling the best band. There's an arm in there. I know that. Shut off the ice maker when they've been at Ben gets full right? I kind of federal with that, but it is new. Anything. All right, Let's see if it's a water valve in will find a quick way to do that by you taking a plastic cup. That's bendable, filling it with water and filling the ice maker with water. Okay, then that should freeze that should dump that Tells you the ice maker is a okay. Okay. Now, if it does all of that, and I assume it will The water valve on the back of the refrigerator at the bottom. You followed the water line to the back of the refrigerator. Shut off the water supply Goto the water valve. And change the water valve. It's a dual water valve. Okay, There's two coils on it. One side is bad. The coil is defective. Okay, or those problems internally in the valve. All you have to do is order a new water valve for the refrigerator. And try to order a valve. That is not an O E m part. Do you know what I mean by that? Yes. Original equipment manifest. All right, try to order a part that is a revelation. A generic for that water valve. Why is it producing water, though in the water dispenser because it's a dual water vow one side for the icemaker one side for the water dispenser. Very good. Okay. And then I'd like to hear back from you are so what our listening audience I want you to confirm that the white haired old appliance doctor is correct. Will do. All right. Jo Jo's sometimes some wife must have allowed somebody a tame a coyote or a wolf. Otherwise we would have had dogs. Well, yeah, You're right. Vote that, okay? And it can happen and still does today in the AR north, the last good all over. People do tame the wolf. Okay. Very good. Thank you so much. They care. You A couple of weeks ago, You had a discussion on the phone with someone regarding his wash. Here, we're going to circle back to him. It's a guy from New London, Ohio that was named after a ballplayer that a batting lifetime average of 3 66. That's his tie isn't Annette's Ty? Good Morning, Ty? Thanks for calling. Good morning, Doctor. Thank you for taking my call. I wanted to give. I wanted to get back to you. I have some information for you and your listeners that I hope is helpful. Okay, Way had the world pool washer about six years old. Um Wouldn't agitate wouldn't spend I had replaced the, uh, actuators, which and that didn't do the trick. I replace the lids, which that didn't do the trick, either. And I was emailing you that night after we spoke, and I was getting ready to send it and I had an epiphany. I got the code book out. I read it. Ah, it's a little bit of Greek for most people, but I put the washer through on automatic. That cycle and then I put it through the calibration. Very easy to read. It's very simple to do it did the trick. It's running as we used to say in the Navy, hot straight and normal. How did how did how did you learn about all this stuff? Well, uh, my grandparents immigrated from Detroit before the war. We were taught not to quit. They were they were Detroit. Born raised came down here before the war. We grew up. We thought we were taught you fix it yourself. You can't fix it yourself. You find somebody you get some information. You know that technician that technician book which is hidden Inside the washing machine, but it is accessible. You can get to it. It's a very simple code. I don't know how long I mean, maybe this is a world pool. Seven years old, six years old could become it. Maybe just lost its mind is what I thought. Where was the technical sheet at Tai? Between the drum and the case of the machine. It's taped up inside there. You can only access it by tipping the machine over and reaching up in getting it. And I think most of the information like I said most most people is probably Greek. Ah, but it has all the full codes. But most importantly, It tells you how to do the calibration yourself. And it's very simple. If you exercise some patience, just read it. And do it, and it works more power to your tie. Now that's hope This helps people out. Yeah, because I was getting ready to take it up to the world full factory 20 miles up the road and drop it off and go buy a speed queen..

You're kind of, like, have to move the tub and get your hand in there and maybe you'll take a short piece of something that strong that won't break off and stay there. And start dragging it around the edge of the tub to see if you hit anything, because sometimes doesn't take much. Something coming out of a guy's pockets. Khun do that. But unless you've got that as a condition And it's probably not, but I'm just pointing it out. It'll be three times and that's what it does start. You know the way to wash her up to start it, But I found out and I, You know I was I was reading the manual and I found out that it was me. So it hasn't been beeping and I've been running it. But now my dryer their problem solving my dryer. The button is sticking every once in a while when I go to start it Now. What kind of button do you have? Is it a physical? But nor is it a touch pad? I guess that's the touch that you touch it. And then it turns on it sticks out, you know? It's the button sticks out. Yep, that drowned. It's pretty big and it sticks out. Yeah, when you touch it, and doesn't move when you touch it. You can move it to this different cycles. Yes. Okay? Ah Canmore. Yeah, but I'm still trying, See from what the consumer tells me. I draw a picture, okay? Which is okay if I have seen everything I'm talking about, or you're talking about, But this button thing confuses me. So I'm going to say if the button moves when you touch it, okay? If the button moves when you touch it. Okay, then go to the hardware store and do what another person did yesterday. Give it yourself asses a can of spray contact. Clean it. Remember the word contact cleaner contact? You're OK at the hardware store. Then come back to the machine now and spray. It turned. Pull a plug on and I don't want an electricity going through that board. Okay, or that timer arrangement. And spray the knob and around the knob with this contact cleaner. Let it dry for a Knauer and then try it. And maybe if that works you call that service person that you've called to come out to your home and you cancel a call. Okay? And and you save money. Okay. And then it gives you time to call me again when you have another problem. Right, Right. I'm always here, Mary. Thanks so much. OK, thank you. So how's about helping out our listener from Garden City? He's got a question regarding his water heater. This is Dennis. Oh, Dennis. Thanks for calling And how may we help you? Good talking with you again, Joe. It's been awhile. Used to be on the higher numbers on the radio at one time. Yes, all over the dialogue on the radio. 60 which is a great station quite a bit. Thank you, Dennis. What I'm calling about is you had a class action lawsuit about the water heater dip tubes, and I talk to you about it before because I'm a retired plumber. Ah, Smith had probably the best depth tube around at one time. What happened to that lawsuit is what I really want to know. The attorney general of New York. A guy names I believe with Spitzer Switzer or something like that. You see the attorney generals and meet in the country and at the time Jennifer Granholm was the attorney general here in Michigan, so they have their yearly meeting and Spitzer COLUMN Spitzer for now, are Switzer. Anyways, he asked Jennifer Grand home if he could proceed with a class action suit. Filed by the state of New York and she said, Sure, Go ahead. You know they do. They do that They switch off and off lawsuits to create a name etcetera. But I know this It was the largest Monetary Award issued by the courts. Against all at the time, six hot water tank manufacturers and the it was in the millions or the billions. I don't know, but I was a bigger And ah, it created Such an image. For the old white haired appliance doctor that I was on 60 minutes. Good morning, America Nightline. I was all over the media. In regards to the story I created. Out of the dishwasher happening in my home. With the defective dipped to bun hot water is so nice of you to remember that Dennis So nothing really become of well, Yeah. Ah, they made the dip to correctly. See what happened when they created and they had one company one company making the diff tube for all manufacturers. Well, one company And it appears that The manufacturers all owned shares of that company. So he made a deeper problem And yeah, and what happened then? Is that the manufacturer of the dip to forgot to put a certain chemical In the plastic def too. So when it dissolved as they all do OK when it dissolved, it broke off into little chips instead of dissolving in a clear liquid. It dissolved into a little plastic chips, which plugged up The faucets. The air aiders, the dishwasher, water thou, the water valve for the icemaker water valve for the refrigerator. I went toe Walter's appliance on Lavonia on Plymouth Road. You remember them? They still there? Aren't they know they are. You know, there are the business today I went there and I said to those people who owned that time, I said, you guys selling a lot of more dishwasher, for instance. So we're selling dishwashers like you can't believe We can't understand why I said, Well, I know why the water valve is plugging up and people rather than spending money for a service tech or to change of water valve, they said. Well, 67 years old. Simply by another one, and that was happening with dishwashers and washing machines and even refrigerators. So it was a big story at the time. But and I enjoyed my involvement in it. And I have a little Italy like 18 years old. I haven't checked that dip, too. But I'm worried about it right now. No, I wouldn't worry about when it dissolves. It deserves you won't even know Yeah, I hope you're right. Yeah, Yeah. Yeah. So you know about your car, Mac building. You know, it's up for sale now. Yeah, I found out that the oldest son, Sean, who Operated the business after I after he got it, Um continued on, but I guess he sold the building and Now it's back up for sale again. Has completely empty right now. Yeah, it's too bad. That was a close one around here who was good years for Mr Carr, Mac himself in the family and For my family and my boys who all learned how to fix appliances from that building, Dennis, you know, I was so involved with Garden City at one time chamber. President Kwon is president. All that stuff? Right. My heart's still there. I got to tell you Well, like I say, it's still a great, decent city. Yeah, it is. Dennison. Thank you so much for joining me. Very nice of you guys would have 45 year old water here. Yeah, but Yeah, Heap. His fingers crossed. I cannot believe it. Yeah, take care that is Okay. Appreciate Dr Toomey Guy. Very nice of you. Thank you. Washing our counties where we're going out. Joe Willis, Michigan To be exact question is regarding his refrigerator. This is Mark. Hello, Mark.
