We're going to spend some time I saw the interview on face the nation with Dr Deborah Burke's You're familiar with her woman who worked on the Kobe task force along with the vice president. Mike Pence. Former vice president And alongside the president of states again. Former President Donald J. Trump on our response, the Colbert Pandemic and asked the question before the break. Assess how this was handled. How the president former president handle that his team His cabinet. How they dealt with the pandemic. Think about that for a second, and then I'm gonna ask you the question again. Could we have saved lives that would've done something differently or better. Now I'm a big fan of Dr Deborah Burkes as I'm a big fan of Dr Anthony Fauci. In policy we trust is one my favorite sayings. Big fan of science. Save the text. I understand that People have different opinions about science and Too many of those texts or textures. Science evolves and changes as well. More information is available. Circumstances or conditions change. Look at the variant now in the cupboard. 19 virus. There is it is transforming itself to the point where this cause some concern is whether or not the vaccines that are out there actually gonna deal with this new variant from South Africa in the UK and other places, So that's that's on the table. But beyond that simple question, 85561616 22nd mortgage talking tax line. Could we have handled this differently? And if we did Could we have avoided having Half of half a million people dead from this virus roughly Could we have avoided that? They said. I washed the entire interview with Dr Deborah Birds, with Margaret Brennan from Face the Nation. Full disclosure. Big fan of the show. Watching every Sunday morning either recorded or live on my watch. Sunday morning. For those who ask me what's what's your resource is? Well, how do you get information? Here's here's like a wheelhouse of shows you can watch on Sunday morning just As background for all the things that we talk about other shows, talk about your friends. Talk about your neighbors. Whatever co workers face the nation. Meet the press Relations on CBS, Meet the Press on NBC. Um, Big Fan of CBS Morning News or CBS Sunday morning, Rather, um, usually hosted by Jane. I'm forgetting her last name. Don't come to me Fantastic show. It is Jane Pauley. It is kind of a mix of news. They start off the news and features some entertainment stuff. It's kind of a balanced. Remember the old magazine shows kind of like that. Only an hour and a half. And that also sample on Saturday morning. Big family Smerconish is work on Sirius Radio, but he's got a Saturday morning show on CNN, the clock and other shows. That's kind of just a general take. So I'm gonna read from you a little bit of the questions and answers from Dr Deborah Berke. And then we're gonna have a conversation. About what we think what you think. More importantly, where we are As a country dealing with this pandemic. Could we have done better? Could lives have been saved Starts with this question. Actually starts with this answer. Question actually served the question. Mark it, Brennan. It's referring to all the all the memos. An information pieces that Dr Deborah Burkes then on the covert task force sent to the president Margaret Brennan. Answer. Did President Trump Read them? Doctor burst? I don't know. I don't know. I send them up to the vice president had very little exposure to the president. The president appreciated the gravity of this in March, referring to March 2020. It took a while, if they arrive, the White House to move all the ants, ancillary data that was coming in. I mean, it was parallel data streams coming into the White House. They were not transparently utilized. I need to stop that. Where people were you mean outside adviser? Outside advisers, Margaret Ass outside advisers coming into inside adviser and to this day, I mean, until the day I left. I am convinced there were parallel data streams because I Target interrupts her disinformation. Dr Burke's I saw the president presenting graphs that I never made. So know that someone or someone out there or someone inside was creating a parallel set of data and graphics. It was shown to the president. I don't know this day who I know what I said that but I know that what was in the hands of the president was different from that. That worries me because that any moments Dr Burke schools on the same but my career I'm data transparency. Accountability is very important to me that we all agree how the data is collected and how we use it. We don't cut into pieces. We didn't say rolling a look at this in six weeks because it makes us look better or are going to look at these in two weeks because you look better than Europe In those two weeks, you can't do that. You have to use the entire database. Margaret Brennan, who was doing that. Dr Burkes to this day. I don't know. I know now. Why watching some the tapes that certainly Scott Atlas work for the president brought in parallel data streams. I don't know who else was part of it, but I think when the record goes back, and people see what I was writing on a daily basis that was set up to the White House leadership. They will see that I was highly specific and what I was seeing what needed to be done..

"Dnm Leasing? Dr Deborah Burkes says she is going to be retiring soon. And it's no coincidence that this happens as people started criticizing her because she's been telling people don't travel. Stand your immediate household, you know, do your part. She was saying this over Thanksgiving. But then it came out that she traveled over Thanksgiving. She didn't do her part. She did not go ahead and her words. Yes, she did not do her part, just like the mayor of Boston. Just like the governor of Colorado. You know, all of these politicians we've been holding accountable for saying don't travel. Do you do everything you can to be safe and then they go back and do the exact opposite. And just like, dare I say. Clay Jenkins, right? Yes, that wedding, right? Exactly. Yeah, I mean it Z. There's not a whole lot of practicing what you preach. When it comes to covert regulations, But Deborah Berke says she'll help out with the Joe Biden administration any way she can. But she wants to step down because it's been an overwhelming very difficult time for her family. She says. I think what was done in the last week to my family. These are very difficult things because people have been not just criticizing her but criticizing her family because it was three generations of her family from different households that we're all together over the holidays. So Yikes. It's It's just like if I don't again, I don't care if if you decide you don't want to travel and I've had this conversation with my mom about our try our Christmas celebrations. Not between me and my mom. But there's other people who are skeptical about doing our Normal Christmas. Think if you don't want to, That's perfectly father. There's nothing wrong with that. But But just be consistent and practice what you preach. You don't But don't move The goalpost. Don't say it's not safe to have the Christmas thing and then skip it and then go to a TCU football game the next weekend. Yeah, you know, like, you know, I mean, like, just let's let's just let's just be consistent being consistent at 6 26 a W B A P coming up next. I don't think we needed a study for this. We continue to remain hopeful are hospitals and other partners can administer first doses to approximately 100,000 people in Oregon. It's really important for all of us to remember that Oregon's allocations are likely to change because our allocations are determined by the federal government. This week, We learned our Fizer vaccine allocation of wood again because this time by over 30% and our modern allocation will be reduced by 7000 doses. We all need to understand and prepare for the fact that vaccine distribution will be a fluid and changing process. As we go forward. I think what he's trying to say if I'm not mistaken is Lower your expectations. Is that what he's saying? It'll increase the supplies, so will be gone in a Y Oregon's kind of being left out. It's not just Oregon. I know it's not just going together. And I know it's not just Washington. I just in the back of my mind. I've got that blue states are gonna be made to suffer thing. Talk about conspiracy theories. That's where my mind is gone. Where's your evidence? Doctored. I have no evidence. We don't need those conspiracy theories, but that's what we always say. Conspiracy theories right there. Where's your evidence? Dr. Deborah Burkes, she was on newsy. Interviewed on newsy About her little trip. I guess that really happened to her family re union. They're up there wearing masks and having a good old time and she's kind of explaining yourself. Listen, interested in helping with the Biden administration? No, I want the Biden administration to be successful. I've worked since 1980 the federal government first through the military. Then through HHS and then detailed of the State Department and detailed here where I hope I was helpful. I will be helpful in any role that people think I can be helpful in on Ben. I will retire. I will have to say as a civil servant. I will be helpful through a period of time and then I will have to say that it This experience has been a bit overwhelming. It's been very difficult on my family. I think what was done in the last week to my family, You know they didn't choose this for me. You know they've tried to be supportive, but to drag my family into this, But it's my daughter hasn't left that house in 10 months. My parents Have been isolated for 10 months. They've come deeply depressed as I'm sure many elderly have as they've not been able to see their sons, their grand daughters. My parents haven't seen their surviving son. For over a year. These are all very difficulty things break out the violins. Break out the violins there, But they have been there for 10 months, so I had to go break product. I told you what to do, but I didn't. No friends, Tessa no Mad dog in the afternoon and the show that's replaced it. I don't know. I got a lot to say about that. But I'm I'm gonna avoid it Gonna avoid it For now. I know that was a tease, wasn't it? Let's just say if if I you know, had this huge gambling problem and I racked up millions in debt and I ended up going to jail as a result of running an illegal scheme is Craig Carton Did W f A N When I come back And you get the afternoon drive show, which is you know the crown jewel, I suppose on Dure paired with a nevan Roberts. The show should be Roberts and Carton, not Carton. And Robert's. Considering one guy wasn't in jail on the other one was that's all I'm saying. So I'm saying starting a war. Sorry about that guest. Does that PR WR that screw it? I said it and I stand by it, Joe conscious feeling it from Mark Simone. You may remember me for a little show I had on wfor last year. And also I'm a fox news contributors to you probably see me on there'll be on with the Sean Hannity. Tonight, for example, and I am a columnist for the Hill so staying busy during these times. I'm thankful for by the way without work, and I can't imagine what these restaurant owners are going through, and so many other people that lost their jobs. I mean, forget the money crunch is bad enough. But then just the mental aspect of all this. You know, day after day. You can't tell a Saturday from a Monday from a Wednesday and it's been going on for for months and months, and you see these Democratic mayors and governors across the country who continue to break their own rules and it's it's it's infuriating. Now. At this point, you know you remember the Austin, Texas mayor Steve Adler. Hey, vacation in Mexico. After telling people in Austin, stay home. Don't go see your family members. And these guys like Are you that stupid? You don't think I'm going to get caught? Flying to Mexico over Thanksgiving. You don't think people may notice that particular kind of hypocrisy. Gavin Newsom, Right. California goes to the French laundry restaurant, which why open up a restaurant. I'm definitely naming it that He goes there with 12. Other people all without mass sitting indoors, 12 people from six different households. Yet he has California basically in a lockdown son with San Francisco Mayor London Greed, never trust inviting them Deference City All right, I That's That's my number. One rule in playing poker. Never play cards with anybody named after a city. All right, that's from teen wolf. I stole that. Yes. London Breed also ate at the French laundry inside after encouraging people to avoid gatherings. Denver Mayor Michael Hancock Ah, boy, this was great when he told Coloradans to hold quote Virtual gatherings, then flew to Mississippi to visit his family. But now I'm bringing this up today because Dr Deborah Burkes you remember her from all the coronavirus task force briefings. She and Fauci, probably where the most visible particularly back in March and April, May and June during those task force briefing, So she has said in the past as far as holiday gatherings, too, Also Try to stay separate. Keep it virtual, You know, don't don't have different family members from different households get together because that's how this thing spreads. Okay, well, she ended up over the Thanksgiving break going to her vacation home. Driving there up in Delaware, and that included, uh, two grandchildren included other family members from other households. Again. You're going to get caught doing this. So what? Why even bother? And how do you even explain it away? You know what, Even Dr Fauci. I remember when he threw out the first pitch at a nationals game during the summer. Then they have a photograph of him up in the stands talking with two other people right next to him. No mask on. Right s so you can't find somebody who hasn't broken this rule. It seems at this point, they all seem to be on the Democratic side. For some reason, Governor Cuomo went down to Georgia over the summer. It was July for some sort of conference there, and there's literally and you could look this up online pictures of him hugging other people and the other people are wearing masks, and he's not wearing one. Yet again. Broadway's closed New York restaurants are closed, but Thankfully, SNL still has a studio audience indoor by the way, because we have to, but that keep going because well, Get trump and they take down Trump, and they got some, even a comedy show any more seriously. I grew up watching it. I was there in the very beginning and barely remember, with Belushi and Bill Murray and Chevy Chase. And then you go through the years with Eddie Murphy and Episcopo and then the Farley years with with Adam Sandler, it got better actually, When will Ferrell was on there with with Tina Fey and the great Cheri Oteri? Let's not forget about her. But then lately just now, it's become so insufferable Tow. Watch that program You remember when Trump won 2016 S and L went on the air that following Saturday, and Kate McKinnon, who plays Hillary Clinton? Cold Open was her playing on the piano. Hallelujah, saying, We'll never give up at the end with tears in your eyes and you watch this. You say Wait a minute. I'm watching the show to escape from all the political stuff and I got to see this, and that's all the shows become a this point. It's like, kind of like watching CNN or MSNBC. Except I guess it's supposed to be comedy when they get to have a studio audience. I I can't you know, Send that point home enough. That's just amazing with Burke's huh? I mean, the fact that she's mixing households and doing exactly what she's told people not to do, And that's why these cases are are going through the roof and you're seeing 2,503,000 deaths covert related per day. Because people are saying screw it if they're not going to follow the rules. I'm not going to follow him either rules for the not for me and certainly not for celebrities. Here's what Cuomo allowed Also back in August. Video MUSIC awards MTV. They have all these celebrities flying in many from California and the rules supposed to be that you quarantine for two weeks when you come in from another state, right? And then the governor's talked real tough about that. Groups until of course, the video music awards have to go on and therefore they didn't have to quarantine for those two weeks. They came in. They performed Then they get they got back out. These exceptions that are made are are are infuriating. I'm sure to all of you. I'd love to hear from you, by the way. 803 2107 10 803 2107 10 If you want to be a part of the program, too Quote Sean Hannity. Um and Pelosi is just amazing. Isn't she? Our House speaker? She put out a tweet last night, announcing that congressional Democrats have reached an agreement with Republicans and the White House on an emergency. Coronavirus. Remember that word emergency coronavirus relief and omnibus package that delivers urgently remember that word is well needed funds to save.

Fears mount of post-holiday COVID-19 surge
"Confirmed. US coronavirus cases Top 13.4 million today, and deaths surpassed 267,000. That's according to statistics compiled by Johns Hopkins University. The U. S is posted Maura than four million cases in November alone, double the number in October. Record 93,000 people are hospitalized with covered 19 across the country, as hospitals all over are starting to buckle under the strain. White House Coronavirus Task Force coordinator Dr Deborah Burkes said on CBS that anyone who traveled over the Thanksgiving holiday should assume They were infected and get tested. So if you're young and you gathered, you need to be tested about 5 to 10 days later, but you need to assume that you're infected. Not go near your grand parents and ants and others without a mask. If you're over 65 or you have cobra abilities, and you gathered it Thanksgiving if you develop any symptoms. You need to be tested immediately. Infectious disease specialist Dr Anthony Fauci warned of the coming post Thanksgiving surge that she told meet the press. Local officials from around the country are telling him they're running out of hospital capacity and asking for advice. We might see a surge superimposed upon that surge that We're already in Holiday and Dr Jon Swartz burg of the UC Berkeley School of Public Health, sees a surge on top of a surge after Americans continue to ignore public health guidelines to celebrate the Syriza of holidays that began with Thanksgiving and continues with Christmas and Holiday season parties and then New Year's. You can know, Look it from Thanksgiving Day. We can expect to see hospitals that surge on top of the surge start to fill hospitals even more. About two weeks after Thanksgiving, and about two weeks after that, which takes us to So close to Christmas. We're going to see death increasing a surge of deaths on top of the surge of deaths were seeing the vaccines aren't gonna make a dent. Things until probably around March

"With US logging. An additional four million confirmed cases of Cove in 19. Four million in just one month. And after that aforementioned weekend, there's fear of a surge superimposed on the surge is Anthony Fauci put it. His colleague on the White House Coronavirus Task Force coordinator, Dr Deborah Burkes delivered this warning to Thanksgiving travelers yesterday on CBS's face The Nation. You need to be tested about 5 to 10 days later, but you need to assume that you're infected. So with that in mind, we're going to check in on three locations around the country. Let's start in Florida, which is fast approaching one million cases. W M. Effie reporter Daniel Pryor is in Orlando and Danielle. Excuse me. How are your hospital's doing? How much capacity do they have? Right now? We're doing all right. But we are seeing hospitalizations, increase and rise steadily throughout the state kind of similar to what we saw at our peak. Our last p here in mid July. We are concerning Lee. We're getting very close to one million cases since mid March. Yeah. Almost half of all the new cases are in south Florida. Why is that such a? That's right. I think you know, if anything, this pandemic has highlighted the inequalities and our health care system in this country. And in a lot of Spanish speaking Latino communities in South Florida's where we're seeing these new cases simply because they don't have equal access to cope in 19 testing. They don't have free PPE, and they don't necessarily always have information that's accessible in Spanish and other indigenous languages. And we're seeing search teams going into these communities now trying to hand out face Mass and Information in Spanish, But it might be you know, too little too late. Yeah, well, as you know, Florida does not have a statewide mask order in place. And in September your governor Rhonda Santa's lived in most pandemic restrictions. So what's happening at the state or even at the local level right now to try to stop the spread? Statewide. We're seeing very little. You might know that our governor has been M I A since November 4th. There's been no press conference until actually right now. Right now he's holding one in Kasem E, which is here in central Florida. But other than that, there's really been no word from him or his administration about this surge that we're seeing. Locally. I think we've seen a lot of mass mandates in place, but there's no way to enforce them. Our governor has just extended an executive order that bans all local governments from imposing fines or fees that would make it possible to actually enforce mask mandate mass mandates. So we're seeing them. Being put in place. But you know when you can't find somebody, it's very hard to tell somebody to wear a mask who doesn't want to Have you ever face Daniel Pryor doing this from Orlando? Thanks for your time. Thank you so much. Let's go now to South Dakota, where As of last Friday the Corona virus has killed one out of every 1000 residents. And where more than 40% of covert tests are coming back positive, according to Johns Hopkins University South to go to public broadcasting reporter Seth Tupper is in rapid city and set another statistic. We should note this Saturday, South Dakota reported its largest death toll since the pandemic started. How are things going there? Well, it has been pretty dire here since especially since September. Just this past Saturday. We set our single day record with the reported 54 deaths reported it in one day from covert 19. And that surge has continued for the past few months Recently, we have seen within the past couple of weeks for the first time in months are curve of new infections did dip slightly, so hopefully That's not a blip and hopefully it's a sustained trend. But the death deaths and illnesses and hospitalizations have been rising at an alarming rate here throughout the fall. Well, you say an alarming rate in your right. But is it alarming people Because, as we know, South Dakota is one of the states without very tough restrictions. In fact, your governor has gone so far as to tell people this weekend. Go shopping. So I mean, how How are people approaching this problem? Well, they're very divided, As you noted, are our Republican governor Christy Nome has been very She's been very anti mask mandate has been very anti lock down. She's opposed to any sort of a statewide. Mandate. On. So what that has caused a sort of a conflicting message to be out. There are state public health officials are telling people to wear masks and stay home if possible. And last week 600, South Dakota physicians attach their names to a full page newspaper ad that ran in every daily paper in the state, asking people to take more precautions, including wearing masks. Then you have the governor also encouraging people to get together for Thanksgiving and saying South Dakota won't stop you from doing that, like some other states. Yeah, well, one of the problems that you have there, One of the challenges that you have there in South Dakota is also a rural state. Rural hospitals are not always equipped the same way as they are in big cities having hospitals holding up Generally, so far so good our state health officials say. Our hospitals, of course have been stretched and stressed, but they haven't gone over capacity yet. For example, Right now, we still have about 20% of the ICU beds in the state that remain available. That number has dwindled. And of course, if things get worse, that would be concerning. But with the Number of infections recently leveling off and dipping a little bit. There's hope that hope that perhaps we won't get to the point where we're over capacity in those hospitals. All right, Seth. Tougher. Thank you very much for your time. Thanks for having me on Let's go now to New York City, where Mayor Bill de Blasio announced yesterday that public elementary schools will reopen for in person learning next week in some students with disabilities.

Iran blames the killing on Israel, which has put its embassies on high alert after Ron vowed revenge former Navy Admiral William McRaven on ABC this week. The biggest issue going forward, of course, is that Iran Either suspects or knows that Israel was responsible for this attack and then kind of by association. They're going to assume that we there collaborated with it or at a minimum. We're witting of the Israelis actions. Meanwhile, White House senior adviser Jared Kushner travels to Saudi Arabia and cut our this week hoping to secure more diplomatic agreements in the Middle East. "Our coronavirus coverage today on the MIC Broom head show Governor Doug Ducey came into the studio and Mike asked the governor if we're seeing an increase in hospitalizations, and is there any chance we could have another shutdown, providing a worst case hypothetical. What I'm going to say is I'm gonna do everything I can. To protect Arizonans and to make sure that we can care for Arizona's now we think with the way that we took, and Dr Deborah Burkes said, Arizona was a model state and how we reduced our spike in late June and early July. We've not lifted those mitigation measures. They're still there, So we're going to keep pressing on that, and I think that's going to allow us to get through this to the vaccines and so and the reason why I'm still standing on that. That's the plan the plan but is to stay open in a safe and healthy way. But business owners are not hearing you say we're not going to shut down and it scares the heck out of them and s so I just want to make sure What would be a threshold is there because there's got to be metrics of if we get to this point, we're gonna have to take some measure plan is to stay open and in a safe and healthy way on the metric that we watch every day, of course, is around hospital capacity, which right now, while it's it's, it's stressed, But two thirds of the patients that are inside our hospitals are not covert 19 patients. So that provides us different options and then also around our our staff that the doctors and nurses and people that are working in health care, though those air the ultimate measurements that we watch and we have to tend to and because it is surging around the country. Arizona's in the bottom half. Right now, we're not in the same position where we have all the availabilities and flexibilities than we did before. All right, So let's talk election. You said last press conference that you were gonna let the legal courts and let the courts handle things, and then you would rest. Whatever the results were Lawsuit. Maricopa County was thrown out. Mohammed County has said what they've said. Are you ready to say that Arizona should be should be certified for Joe Biden? So the steps are, of course you have voting. You have tabulation. Then you have certification at the county level that's being conducted or is completed that the next step is state certification. There's no reason a two this point with what's happening inside the legal system that that wouldn't go forward. And that is my expectation. Alright, so s so then. Is that a yes, The Joe Biden won Arizona or not? Well, what I want to say, I've said several times. Arizona's a good government state. I trust our election system. There's integrity in our election system. Joe Biden did win Arizona. I think it's a 10,000. 300 vote margin or approximately 3 3/10 of a percent on Governor. Pleasure. "Coronavirus response coordinator Dr Deborah Burke's appearing on CBS's face the nation was asked of the disease was man made in China I don't have any evidence that it was a laboratory accident I also don't knows precisely where it originated so winter we have the concrete evidence which we struggled with with other pandemics in others they were not events these are still not active as they come from animals into humans as of figuring that out will be really critical as well as figuring out could it happen in the lab right now the general consensus is animal to human the corona virus death toll in New York has dropped again governor Andrew Cuomo says it may mean the state is on the other side of the plateau whether or not the descent continues depends on what we do but right now we're we are on the descent I'm Dan Cates with all the talk about an anti body treatment for coronavirus patience comes a warning that it might not be right for everyone every medical treatment is fraught with peril in the sense of biologist Dr dean Hart says there are side effects to everything which is why there's always a risk reward ratio consideration now with anybody's derived from blood plasma there are infectious components and everyone's blood that has to be filtered out and ill person's immune system may not react well to someone else's blood productor heart says with a severely ill on a ventilator reward far outweighs the risk but in general anybody on a ventilator they're very sick the losing the battle and it's a fine treatment anybody's treatment will have to be evaluated on a case by case.
