"From the time that they had had trade but with the monoclonal antibody before the vaccine, very good. Let's go to Bob and Shelby County, Bob. Good morning. You're in Alabama's Morning news with Dr Karen Landers go ahead. Good morning, the state of Alabama allowed doctors pushed prescribed the It's like a position in his or her individual judgment, wishes to prescribe an agent for their patient than building the Department of Public Health does not intervene. Now there is a very very ability and terms of They consideration of any potential effectiveness of this drug. At this point in time, it's not really considered to be a treatment Regiment. But if an individual physician and his or her patient Wish to undertake that treatment. And certainly that is, it's a new allowable freight. But if people wish to have it against not considered to be scientifically Found based upon the literature that we have. Is there any cost doctor for the vaccine to people? No, The vaccine is great. Now certainly of persons have third party coverage that just insurance coverage or other third party than that can be built for an administration fee. But the fact is from any concerns on these vaccines. Madonna horrifies or I know a lot of people When you talk to them. They say I'm on the fence. I'm gonna wait a little bit. Oh, I heard so and so got sick on the second dose of the vaccine. Any major concerns that you've seen or pop up? That people should be aware of. Well, Actually, we do expect person to have some minimal side effects. With the first vaccine. Some people may have a sore arm. Some people may have slight chills or slight paper. We expect that because that really shows that the immune system is responding to this vaccine, but also with the second dose. We expect persons who have similar or even a bit more in terms of side effects from the vaccine, but again what that really is that the immune system responding to the vaccine. So overall, we expect this because it shows that the immune system is able to recognize this and respond. And certainly this is absolutely not a race into the way or not takes the second dose. Should patients check with their provider or farm assistant to be concerned about drug interactions? If there are e on prescription meds? According to the Sadie say there really are very few Contra indications to this vaccine. And really the only contra indication at this point is first of all if a person Has known allergic reaction to the components of that thing, which again is extremely uncommon or a delay in taking the vaccine. If you've been treated with monoclonal antibodies in terms of cross reactivity with other back things or drugs. Really? This has not been reported, and for the most part, persons can take the vaccine. But it's persons have a history of an if elected reaction. In other words, very severe allergic reaction. They should discuss this with their position just to be aware of the precautions that need to be taken. Every person who takes the vaccine has to be and I 15 to 30 Minutes observation period after the fact thing for any potential allergic reaction. Dr Landers. I know we got a lot done there, but really important, And I really appreciate you spending time with me and we'll do it again soon. Cem Cem. Great information for folks. Thank you so much. Then they'll adjourn for a week to evaluate the possible rate of Corona virus spread. Lawmakers also watching Governor Kay Ivey State of the State address remotely tonight a drive through covert vaccine clinic opening today and Hoover nearly 900 people scheduled for vaccinations. It's by appointment only at the WHO Vermette U A. B. Dr Sarah Naff Singer says there are a lot of advantages to this kind of a clinic for one allows us to be very fast in the number of people that we can move through. These sites in the second thing is that allows us to do it more safely. You know a lot of these folks in these high risk age groups. I've been at home being very careful on some of them self isolating extensively for almost a year. Now I'm Leah Brandon, and this is Alabama's morning news Now back to your host. Here's J T. All right, Leah. Thank you very much. It's 7 33, continuing our conversation with Dr Karen Landers from the Alabama Department of Health on the Corona virus, vaccines and the distribution. It is underway, But there's a process you have to go through. And I know a lot of folks have some questions. So let's get to the phones. 88891051 of five. Bart's got a son and Clay this morning, Dr Landers. Bart, Go ahead. What's your question? Yeah, I am. Uh, 60. I'm only 60. But I am adopt at it, and I was wondering in my own this next list or I have already registered to the website, but opposition curious when I would be able to get the vaccine. Good question part. Dr Landers, diabetes, obesity underlying conditions. If you're under 65, Does that bump you up? Well, currently, we're not back tonight in under 65 other than persons that are in the frontline worker category, So it may be that his particular occupation that bars particular occupation could qualify him and certainly we hope that as we get more vaccine available, this is a group. Persons with underlying health problems that we really want to back tonight. But at the moment, it's age 65 above and again the frontline workers which are listed on our allocation plan on our website. Okay. Where do folks go Doctor to sign up right now. What's the website? Well, First of all, let me remind persons that if they live in Jefferson County that Jefferson County Health Department has a separate website from ours, which is through again, they're going operations Center and then clinic such as you a base clinic. The apartments are made outside off the Alabama Department of Public Health website. In other words, they're made through those entities websites. Our website is Alabama Public Health, Doc Dub. And again you go to the coronavirus six and coronavirus back. Same section where you can locate not only our information on back scene but also our online portal either for appointments or for looking where there are drive thru clinics or walk in clinics so that can cover it for anybody that doesn't know where to go in Jefferson County or you. Maybe if they go to Alabama public health, our God they get they get the right directions. Yes. And we also have information on Jefferson County's president. Our website. All right, let's go to the phones. Once again. Jeff has is on in Halina. Jeff. Good morning. You're on with Dr Landers. Go ahead. The first question that gentleman's just nailed it. That's what I was calling about. But my second part of that we as a diabetic or anything like that is gonna be have have to be subject to this vaccine every year like the flu shot or Do you know? Yes, that's an excellent question. And of course, that still being studied. We do know that the effectiveness of the vaccine that currently is available is about 92 95%. There are additional back things that might be approved that have a slightly lower effectiveness. That's still like very good effectiveness. At this point in time, it is possible that we may need to do additional back things every year, but this is still being studied. What about Anna? Bodies? I've got the antibodies doctor and a lot of people do If those people are eligible for the vaccine, and they know they have the antibody, should they get the vaccine? Does it matter? Actually, this is the discussion that has occurred in the number of scientific circles because of the variability If you will of antibody testing with coded 19 and some level of cross reactivity, depending on the type of test that is there any body testing is really not considered at this point in time to be a nabs salute, sign of immunity, and certainly even a person have Lost his aunt's bodies of just because they have gone and had a test. That does not mean that they should not have the code that night came vaccine they should have to coach Knight came back scene unless they have recently had coded disease or have been treated with the monoclonal antibody treatments for coated 19 disease. So if I was in the study it you A B and that Eli Lilly drug was a 50 50 chance of getting that versus the placebo. I need to know if I got that before I get a vaccine correct. Yes, again, the monoclonal antibodies If a person has been traded with the monoclonal antibodies for coast in two days, what we advised, is that person's wait 90 days..

"And his Alabama's morning news. I'm JT and joining us now from our Alabama Department of Health. Karin Landers is here. Dr Landers. Welcome back in. Thank you for being here. Thank you. Joy Take so you've had a couple of busy days lately, have you? Well, I think it's always busy and the Alabama Department of Public Health We worked back tonight. Citizens of Alabama. It's a real challenge, but we're certainly pushing forward because we really want to get this back pain out there. Well, it's out now that there's some distribution sites that are up and running right now, uh, in Hoover. They've got one. Um, you a bee's got one going. I would imagine there's some others around the state. So let's talk about Who can get the vaccine now? And what's the delay? Like for most folks that are in front line workers or aren't above the age of 65? I guess it is. So where are we with the vaccines as far as how many we have in the state? And how many were getting ready to distribute. Well, that's up. Yesterday morning waited, uh, delivered and distributed and basically vaccinated. With over 359,000 doses in the state of Alabama Now, currently, if you look at our vaccine dashboards you can see that we have had over $600,000 is delivered. In the state of Alabama, and that does not include our long term care program, which is through the federal Pharmacy partnership. Now the plans for the back saying that Is in Alabama. First of all, it is for person to have already had appointments schedules for persons that are going to be attending clinics that Have been planned and are currently being planned. And finally, there are a number of persons needing second dose is this month as we used quite a bit of Madonna. In January. And of course, the minimum answerable is four wakes. But the Donna back saying, right, let's talk about the number of vaccines as far as companies. With those vaccines that we're using here in Alabama? Are we using the visor, Moderna any others? Well, they only two approved vaccine products currently are the M or in a vaccine. Either by father or the Donna. We do not have a preference for either product. However, the products are not interchangeable. So once a person takes a dose of Fizer vaccine, their second those three weeks later. We'll need to be with father or and again, Madonna they second doubts will need to be four weeks after the first dose. All right. People can go to the website. Now, if they've decided, yes, I want the vaccine on get signed up. Understand? It's gonna be march before a lot of folks get that even though they sign up in the first part of February. There is a delay. So let's talk about The priority list and you know who gets it first. And then what's the breakdown going down the line? Based upon the advisory committee on Immunization Practices of the information actually from the city. See, Alabama has been vaccinating, of course, healthcare workers first responders. Assed Willis police far in person, 75 years of agent above, and that's really almost 700,000 people in that group. Keep in mind that anyone whose backside has to have a second does. And so February 8 we are expanding into our next place, which is actually a very bald Of faith, which includes persons 65 years of age and above and again a number of other categories of frontline workers. And that is also on around station plan. Our website We're really picking up 65 above. Category out of the face one state in order to vaccinate this population and of course, teachers will be included. And we know how important our educators are. Who are Children here in Alabama. So again, it's a very broad group that we now with this group will actually have over one million people eligible for the fact saying the challenges we still do not have enough vaccine. With that group. We're talking with Dr Karen Landers from the Alabama Department of Health. Dr. Landers. Can you stay with me for another segment? I've got to take a break. But can you stay with me for the next two? You know, five or 10 minutes? Lamby happy could Okay, Great. Here's what we'll do, folks. If you've got questions will try and get as many as we can 88891051 of five. If you've got a question for Dr Landers, Now is the time to get it out there. 88891515 Your questions and more with the doctor coming up Predator traffic and weather together. Bottom of the hour news. Three minutes. Stay with us. One day you're serving in the military. And then the next day you come home and you're dealing with an injury. "The drive into the Magic city from Tuscaloosa. Not too badly. 54 minutes with an average speed of 59 that might hinder you First alert traffic. I'm Erica would thank you very much you're ago. Well happening today, 12. More hospitals in our state are expected to get their shipments of fighters. Coben 19 vaccine. Now we know that three state hospitals have already received their shipments in total 15 hospital facilities in our state were chosen because They have what's needed to store that finds her vaccine at the very low temperatures require. And so far, not all those hospitals getting the vaccine or being publicly identified for security reasons. Yes, specific details about times and locations for the vaccines arriving at their destinations are being kept secret. For now, we ask deputy State health officer Dr Karen Landers if that is because the state's worried about someone stealing the vaccines. She says they won't rule anything out. But that's not what they're referring to. When the state mentioned keeping the vaccine secure. Here she is. The main issue there is related to security in terms of being able to transport the vaccine have the vaccine at the receiving hospital, but also ensuring that the coal chain has been maintained and that there's not any issues related to like. Any broken balls or damage to the shipment or something of that nature. Now, Dr. Landers went on to say that once distribution is complete, the state Health Department is expected to release specific locations where people can be vaccinated. We do expect that to happen sometime today. Well, not in Tuscaloosa, where the city school system is providing guidance on how parents should report coded 19 cases during the winter break. Good shot like alive this morning with more on this, And so I go to good morning to you. And what should parents do if their child does test positive during the holidays? Hey, Janice. Yeah. Tuscaloosa City schools. They have a new cove in 19 reporting form that parents can turn to over the winter break. This is a form that can fill out online on their test was a city schools website. If their child has positive for cove in 19 over the holiday, So we know this form will help the school system keep track of covert numbers. So they know what to expect in order to plan for absences. We also know if your child is symptomatic or or not, even but if they still test positive, this form can be utilized to alert the students school leader instead of contacting your child's principal teacher or school nurse directly over the winter break. Filling out this form is the preferred method parents or students can use. Season, parents or students could use this cove in 19 reporting form for Tuscaloosa City schools from now until January, 4th Now as of this morning, we checked with the cove in 19 Tracker for Testes. City schools. We know a total of 700. And 90 students as well as 121 129 employees within the Tusk was the city school system are currently quarantining due to covet 19. But even with these limits on the bounce most bar owners we talked to say that this will help businesses hurt by the health orders caused by the pandemic. We saw a lot more folks stopping by just to get drinks on We we saw a huge spike in the repeat orders at the table when people were getting ready to go when they finish their mail. Recognize ear's a third level of patient which is someone who's making disease and is at risk. So the research I must say on a national level for heart disease is somewhat flawed. So a lot of the studies that look att using a cat scan or a C M T for prevention may are are not identifying that there's You have to look at people at risk. And this is goes back to also the aspirin research that says, you know, people over 70 that are quote unquote healthy, shouldn't take aspirin. These decisions need to be made on an individual basis and not population based. Okay up Next we have Anna from ST Clair Shores. Anna, What's your question? Yes, Doctor, maybe years old. Do you know if Medicare or Medicaid would pay for tests? Well, an unfortunately insurance in general does not cover the CME T test because it's considered a screening test and they don't cover screening and another word for screening is prevention. So you know what's a screening test is I'm looking for a problem before it happens. So when the insurance world screening is a dirty word, but in my practice, screening and prevention, go hand in hand, So unfortunately, no And I want to Segway here. Your question. And which is why not? You know, why isn't Medicare Mohr involved in prevention? Why? Why not get invested? And The reason is again Medicare's and kick into 65. By then your access to health care has been very limited. Your insurance companies that pay for prevention or the cost to access insurance is too high. Or you can't see her doctor in a way that utilizes prevention. So by the time you get to Medicare, which is our government run program, which had been promised You're sick. And now you're in sick care. I still think it would make sense for the government to invest in people's health, so that by the time they Medicare, they're not as sick and people won't cost That program is much money. As it does, because as it is a thing, it's going to go out of money. It's going to go broke. Why not begin to roll in some wellness now, wellness is doesn't explain it preventive programs that identify people who have a risk for disease. So this doesn't make any sense at all since treating the disease treating the stroke treating the heart attack. Doing stents doing open heart surgery. That's a huge amount of money and pay out. Why would they not want to spend $200 on a CME T test? Well, because it's going to take patients away from those big ticket procedures. So if you're preventing disease from happening, you're literally preventing a stent and you're preventing a bypass Inter preventing a stroke. Which leads to a memory in your preventing. You know some doctor from doing, eh? You know, brain catheterization. So you're preventing Big ticket surgical items, which is again how our system is run, and it's wrong at our expense, both on a financial basis and on a healthy basis. And back to the election. Who cares which health care policy goes into place? None of them are going to have a preventive program. That's going to be effective. Yes. Access is an issue and you know, however you feel about access is important. But Prevention is cheap and access won't be an issue if the cost to care is lower because it's cheap to prevent This is an issue of just educating the public. That's kind of what's missing here is that people just simply do not know what they're missing in their current health care coverage, health care system from their doctors, etcetera I'm going to take and Marie's point of view, it's an issue of of educating the doctors. The doctors don't know how to prevent disease, and if the doctors understood what they were missing in their own care, they leave their They quit their jobs and open up their own private practices so that they could practice a kind of medicine that they've always want to do. Doctors are like being used. As you know, you know, they're just colleagues in a wheel of machinery, and they're at the mercy of their bosses and their CEOs, and they're not doing what they want to do. I mean, they love working with each other, and they like the idea of what they do. But the way that doctors are being forced to practice care right now is horrible. And just like all of your experiences when you go see the doctor is poor, so that means the doctor is not happy there. Staff is unhappy. The doctor needs to be educated. So there's really only one answer for this because we talked earlier about the L. P H and that basically everybody should get that. It's a simple blood test. Let's talk about the hard cause. What does it cost to get If I walk in and ask the doctor? What's it going to cost to get that? Well, you know again. Well, we're down to the You know, a CME is $250 that if it If we did him in volume, big, big volumes, the price would be lower. You know these lab tests? We're talking about 25 $2025 per test. You know, maybe we need five of these tests and doing these test a couple times a year. Is going to save You know, life, it's going to save your ability to work. It's going to mean save your ability to pay taxes. You know if you're working longer, because you're healthier, sir. I'm losing my voice. But you're working longer, healthier. You're a taxpayer and not a dependent of the government. So in the meantime, while America is trying to figure this all out The individual listener on the individual patient if they at least know names such as the LP A test The CME T. Says the CT cardia calcium scoring. If they get a pencil, and they write these three test on and then march into any doctor anywhere and demand the tests and say, Hey, guess what. I've got the cash to pay for this. Then at least they're going to be ahead of the game and the game of prevention. Correct. Then there will be frustrated cause the doctors don't know what to do with the results, but another show. Let's worry about that show us what to do with the results. Just remember the names of the tests. Well, unfortunately, we're out of time said quickly, like to thank Dr Brian Calendar, MD..

"However, if this is just somebody trying to get attention or God forbid, it's real than like take it with levity real, which sense it will. I just sense that this story is about to go somewhere that we don't want it to go. Why would you ever significant or. You're watching her on video seen on video just a moment where I think I don't wanna say mental illnesses involved because I do not want to stigmatize mental illness, but there are experiences people have that force them to be out of control of their own body and non Maly cognitively aware. So I don't say that's happening, but letting if in case it is happening, I just want us to be like I dunno on the radar for them. Yeah, I feel bad for laughing. We'll because I've, no, no, no, no. Because nothing has happened. We don't. We don't know anything about this girl, but just following her cat died and you blame which craft on beyond say, and it's just you get psychics involved, but there's a way she video. It's like and more bipolar activities started happening. I was getting abuse. It was so manic and gnarly that I ended up calling to side two. I got birth, the birth psyche and I didn't wanna believe it like hall. Later and they were like the cat has a spell on it, and I what this person is person, you know that he discovered this time like yes, with the spell on cat and unique rid of it like right away. She's like, she has to believe she's like acting really radically and like you would really think this is someone who's been horribly tormented by the way she talked about it and, and so anyways, like I just wanted to say that because I feel like often these stories happen where it's like this person's acting kooky someone like serious mental issues anyways. So she said that beyond say, has also been, this is why I wanted to preface this manipulating her sexually saying that the singer is using witchcraft to jump into other bodies to both be intimate with her and watch her be intimate with her partners. So she's saying that is really strange. No, I know that's what I'm saying a lot. She basically saying that Beyonce as using which craft to lake both possess people because well as like be aware of what other people are doing and watch them have sex with her and also possess people to have sex with her that she has said that beyond say's team has been paying people off and using dark magic to like make other people fire her, like, pay them die Meyer the dirt. I can see his just power like just Bauer in the music industry, but I don't know any other. Yeah, but like that's it actual things before I was like, oh God. Here we go. And I was like, oh, I think something way, worse happening. I mean, you don't wanna be right because again, I don't want to ever stigmatize anything, especially as someone ended lawless. Imagine than like, what is the reason for someone to like be experiencing these things closely with her team like this is like, what's that. Anyways, if I said anything bad about mental illness or like if I spoke out of turn and you know, better way of talking about this, please hit us out because as someone with it and someone who's like fought for it and whatnot, I try and speak very like, I don't know plainly, but with levity and with respect for everyone's experiences, but won't. Yeah, it is really easy in the news and just pop culture industry to kind of just take these things as crazy stories when you realize having always darker. I mean, that's like half his talk about Dr Landers he's the same celebrities experience like drug overdoses or also the people who are visible experienced these things. It's hard to talk about them and still respectful because you just are not really aware and know intimately what's going on. So anyways, I wanna say that, but there's another thing that is exciting. I guess scammer scammer news loves cameras. Yes. So ding, ding, scammer news time. I love it because that's like always my favorite segment. Wince cameras get docs too because it's just the best. So there was a pretend billionaire throwing insane parties for celebs and then vanished completely thin air..
