It's amazing to me as I see things like this that you've seen and. Without getting too deeply into it. It's amazing what? Being alive. Awhile. teaches you like tax the rich and a little bit i i started hearing this when i was seventeen or eighteen maybe even earlier than that and what strikes me is the cyclical nature of all of this and how the left and it's basic ideology never changes it's never upgraded it's never modified there isn't any innovation this is that's his old as the hills and it it works with young people every generation it works with a certain number of people certain percentage of the population every generation and there's no stopping it that's what experience teaches you you when you're younger and you're and i'm not accusing you of being anything don't misunderstand i'm taking kitchen of your call to share the Experiences. I've picked up over this. in your early stages of being involved in this you think you can go in there and change people's minds and you get in there you tell them in the rijn going to do anything it ain't gonna make you richer i could do the riff on this i've done it for thirty years How is taxing the rich Morgan? I help you. I asked people gonna mean to you. and with you can eventually get them to admit that they don't think it's going to help them it's just gonna punish the rich which is what they want they want people have more than them punished there's resentment there's a there's a belief that the rich don't share that the rich are greedy and selfish and which is nonsensical without the wealthy and the rich and successful capitalistic enterprises nobody would have anything there wouldn't be a growing economy to speak of so there's a certain amount of ignorance that that goes into this that you at some point us learn to ignore it because it's always going to be there there's always going to be segment of the young population that believes the rich are the big enemy and if you tax them punish them that everything's going to be better off no matter how hard you worked to change minds no matter how much time you spend trying to persuade people that group of people is always going to exist tax the rich and we'll all live better i'll tell you another frustrating thing about it's right out of the communist manifesto right out of socialism the world is replete with places where that has been done There are no success stories. There is literally no success story anywhere on earth. in the scope of human history where socialism or communism or any of the economic policies that attached to it have ever made people wealthier have ever created more monday it's have ever led to the sustainability of economic growth it just doesn't happen and yet it remains a huge attraction remains a huge lure to people so the fact that something like that would be outside the democrat debate to arena tonight not a shock not a surprise and i don't think it's i don't think it's affective in persuading people one way or the other it's just sort of like a branding thing that's got to be there because the democrats are in town Anyway. "And let me say that my feeling is he is only saying this to make sure Justin fields realize that he still has worked to do, and that there is still competition, but he talked up Gunnar Hoke the Dublin kid that trains furred from Kentucky after Matthew Baldwin left, and he's a grad transfer and said as gonna get reps with number ones during a fall camp. And we'll see you know like. Not guaranteeing that Justin fields starter. I would be stunned. If Justin fields date the first nap in the season opener against what Florida Atlantic. Yeah. But, you know, just trying to keep the fire underneath his, his transfer from Georgia, who clearly the heir-apparent quarterback that coach's job is at night is everybody interested in moving forward. And well, you know, we're a twisted ankle away. No quest from being makes sense to get whoever is you gotta take the number ones. Case, the unthinkable work three guy ought to be taken to couple reps to just in case because it's been a long time since we've had that kind of problem. But when we have in the past the two men, the three men have all shown up big so yeah, you got to keep that tradition going kudos, also to Ryan day for starting the fun that he starting addressing mental health issues the reveal yesterday that he lost his father at age, nine to suicide, and that's why he and his wife prompted them to try to do something. So they've started a, a fun for mental health and trying to break down stigmas and everything like that. He also even talked about mentioned, Joel that at the Woody a Senator, he goes, you know, college football players, a lot of pressure, especially at a place like Ohio State, but, you know, they have a couple of counselors lash mental health experts that are available to the players if they're going through anything, you know, college kids off the field deal. With stuff to pile. Add on top of high pressure football and everything, so kudos, damn for, for what he's doing in that realm. Something close to him. Obviously losing his dad at age nine and that's that's well done. I you know, doing stuff in the community is part of the deal. I remember talking to Earl about that. It wasn't just how did he put it wasn't just part of the job. It was a responsibility, that he felt like that Europe front. And you need to make a difference in the community and Ryan day doing that as well. I, I mean, you know, you think about urban when we talked to him at the memorial last week he's doing his real life Wednesdays for varsity programs now. And clearly that's something he cares about. I mean, that's it is that's one of those things that, you know, you can talk about collegiate football. I mean I mean I played golf with the Jamie skeleton played for the buckeyes back in the nineties. And, you know, one of the things I threw at him, just because, you know, casually have time downtime on the golf course. Hey, what do you think about? Pay for play. What do you think about, you know, collegiate, athletes, get little something something for the effort? And he goes, I think it's appropriate and he gave me a couple of reasons why. But, you know you talk about all that pressure. I mean, look at other sports. I mean, there's head guys everywhere. No. Yeah. I mean, you know, you memorial main how many a guy walk out on the practice range, and there's a swing coach. And there's this catty and there's his head guy and there's a Ron right? I mean everybody needs a little something something sometime. Yeah. Yeah. And urban Meyer. Obviously, he and Shelley also from a charity last back. I, I can't remember how much money they've raised with the huge amounts urban Shelley Mayer cancer fund this weekend. We're gonna talk player this morning to Maddie Spielman the step up. First steps challenge. Walk for the Stephanie Spielman cancer fund is going to be going on this weekend. I'm actually emceeing it for a third straight year. So a lot of good stuff sports wise that break. Inches out and does more tentacles reaching out the pay forward aspect of Woody? Hayes is message. That's one of those play the Logan family fund goal outing, another former Buckeye, a lot of good stuff going, and, you know, people will talk about, there's not enough, good news. But then when you talk about things that are going on in the community that are positive people glaze over, so it's, it's a fine line. I mean, people want to know the news often it's ugly, legionnaires outbreak. Dr William Hill, sold twenty five counts of murder charge. I mean just, you know, I mean you can you can pick us up. And that's what people hang on. We understand that. I mean, we're in the business. So we know that. That's what drives a lot of it. But that's why you just you take these little moments. And you'll hey, here's a good thing. Here's a good thing. Here's a good thing because that's what's going on as well. Yeah. So you're right. I mean, Ryan day Kentucky, his head down and just coach and try to be a beast. And you know from what I hear, he's looking to maybe four five six years from now. Do good enough to go to the pros. And that's his endgame and God bless ya. And he can do that. He can focus on that. And no one would begrudge them that at all, but he's got other things he wants to get done. So you highlight that as well. I think it's great great. And of Chris Holtman is why, you know, all the coaches do a great job with things on and off the court, and it means more when they're really good on the court and on the field as long as we're talking about charitable stuff. You know John Tortorella with the blue jackets, his love of animals, his love of dogs. He's got a bunch of dogs and stuff. And he does so much in central Ohio, for that. So everybody's got their thing. And it's good. When you're in a high profile position to make that known and make make a difference on different. So that's good stuff, both Buckeye football, coach Ryan day, and basketball coach, Chris Holtman did meet with the media yesterday programs have begun summer conditioning work day says so far, so good this offseason with his team. He was asked about the challenge. He has in following a coaching. Legend, like urban Meyer, a lot of people come up, and they, they say, a lot of pressure or they start talking about the expectations that, that's a big thing that I get a lot in my it's been the same thing all on. I said, you know, you can't worry about that. And people ask me, you know what? What if you don't beat the team up north, what if you don't win the big ten championship or national championship? And I always come back with what if I do? And that's the mentality of always had for the quarterbacks as I mentioned, just in fields day says is having a very good offseason, but he's not guaranteed to be the opening day starter. He says, Kentucky transfer Gunnar Hoke is going to get a look in camp as well. Meanwhile men's basketball buckeyes also getting to work news last week that Villanova and the schedule and that means. Oh stayed in its non-conference among the teams they will play is Nova Cincinnati West Virginia Kentucky and a still be named ACC opponent had our staff. Guys say to me we were talking about who to scrimmage, and he said, well, we might as well just scrimmage, the war. Offers given our schedule. So he doesn't quite a lime with me in terms of scheduling. And I appreciate that now maybe they should schedule the raptors instead of the warriors. Toronto is now halfway to the NBA championship as they beat Golden State on the road one three one nine last night to take a two one series lead. This despite a forty seven point night from Steph curry baseball. Franscisco Lindores stays hot two for four with a Homer, Roberto Perez. Go ahead, owner in the seventh as the Indians rally past Minnesota nine seven reds were rained.

"Pleasure to talk. Columbus, blue jackets on the show, and when you can go right to the topic. It's even better coach John Tortorella. Good morning. And welcome. How are you doing super? I tell you what last week you've got overtime win against the predators. You've got three more wins so seven calendar days four wins. You gotta like where the jackets are right now. Yeah. I guess the thing that that. I like the most is I think we just been ready to play each and every game. Have the games have been perfect. No. But I just think our readiness is is a lot more consistent right now. What you say? The team's not perfect. It's like as the team goes. So goes the coach or is it vice versa? Well, I think any any game any sporting event any player any coach is going to be perfect. Yeah. You just try to be the best. You can be I'll speak on the game of hockey game. Hockey's a game of mistakes and how you handle them. So. Yeah, we're we're just trying to stay consistent as we can be. Yeah. Well, that's a great thing. When you talk about that consistency. Coach talk about the the locker room right now because it seems like maybe not the hardcore hockey fan, but you know, people that are just kind of aware and like them because they're in town seems like there's a little more. Bob, talk, a little more Pinera and talk how do you manage that in the locker room, and there's kind of off ice stuff that you can't really control. And that's just sit. We can't control that we we've had very honest discussions. Right. When camp started. We're we're Bob and came out and said, they're not sure if they want to be here, it's their right? The players can't control the coaches can't control it. We just got the elephant in the room. Had an honest discussion about how we're going to go about our business. And that's what we're trying to do. It seems like a great way to handle it just be real. Here's where we're at. We're going to do our best know the Bradman still delivering. But I'll tell you. What corporal looking pretty solid. Yeah. Corporate come along. And and I I said at the beginning of the year with Bob's inbetween this I guess as far as if you wanna be a blue jacket or not. It it certainly changes my thinking how you go about your goal tending rotation. I have to not only look at trying to win now. But also the future. And so that that gives scorpion opportunity to basically say, you know, what I'm ready to go here. Bob decides to go. I'm ready to go. We have to make that decision along the way here. So it just changes the whole scenario as far as like how I go about goaltending. But right now. Korpi just playing better. He's getting the action, and yeah, he's grown. He's a young guy. That has a really good mental toughness about him and his found his way here coach John Tortorella. Our guest talk. Columbus, blue jackets, coach, we've seen these kind of epic runs out of the blue jackets. You know, like month of December season ago was pretty solid. You got a nice little one going right now. But it's getting over the hump. It's getting to the playoffs. Doesn't seem to be a problem. One. Sure there. How do you right now? Think about the playoffs without ruining wet chemistry. You've got going on on the ice. We don't plan on simple there. There's no there is no reason for this team to be thinking about the playoffs. We're the league is full of parody. There's not a chance that that should be even in our conversation where I think we have become a little consistent here the past few weeks is that we take each and every day and. I'm not gonna head of ourselves. If we have a good day. We get ready for the next day. We have a bad day. We get ready for the next day. I think have to do we're we're we're just starting the dog days of the National Hockey. We gotta kinda hockey to play. So we just need to take one day at a time. When you get to the to the all star break d is mentally is anything different deal allow the guys to kinda take a break, the ones that aren't skating, or is it still just got to keep them. Those are the grindstone and got to try to come up with another great day today. We we can't touch them during the all star. Paul where they wanna go. What they wanna do. We certainly give him program as far as conditioning when they're off. We'll be off seven days here because we only have the all star break, but it combines with back to back with the mandatory basically four or five day break the National Hockey gives every team. So we'll be we'll be without a game. After we play these next to Friday and Saturday, we will not have another game for nine days and seven of those days, the totally off. So what do you get to do during that seven daybreak? Are you carbo as well? Oh, we do. As far as management, and coaches, we're we just keep going about a business. It's not. It gives us a chance to settle. And and and look at some of the things that we think we need to work on some of the things that we think we're doing well. So the game doesn't leave on constantly on our mind. Well, I'll tell you what we're we're rooting hard like always so pleased with the success so far and wishing nothing but the best rolling forward. Thank you very much for the time. Coach my party. You have a great day bacteria coach John Tortorella right there. And a very humble guy. He is right now. I mean in the dog days of the National Hockey League. And with fifty nine points atop the metro division tied with the capitals, it's a good day to be a jacket.
