"Ah, pleasure to have Charles Pemberton joining us a dimension family therapist to does a great job for so many people. You seem You've not heard him here, but you've seen him on several television stations. I the years as well. And of course, there's a podcast on Ah, hard media services, Charles we're talking about Maybe changing directions when we find ourselves getting in that dark place that the rabbit hole whether it's politics, whether it's something else. What about those, though that don't have somebody to bounce things off of? They don't have a mate. Maybe they've gone through a divorce. Something of that nature. The kids were gone. What do you say to those lonely people that we have listened to our show right now? You know, um, we get into I think a lot of things are are we? We are motivated a lot by fear and what you're talking about. His people might be fearful of of Is this going to end? Um what's you know, fearful of what's this gonna bring from me What you're gonna bring from my friends? Fearful of being alone and the two pieces that I would tell people there is no matter how much we think we can. We can't predict the future. We don't know what's gonna happen. I mean, ah, year ago, No one thought 2020 was gonna look like it did. We can't predict the future And we don't know what 21 is gonna look like. And even though we think we are we don't the other. So I realized that you can't predict that teacher Thea other pieces is that when you find yourself fearful of something Look it. Well, What does that open up the possibility for me to change? What new opportunities does that open up for me, and it may mean I have to get out of my comfort zone. But it means that I have to try something else. We've all done a lot of people that have really fallen into a state of isolation. We've got people in long term care facilities, people in the hospital people in their homes. That are have really been isolated, have isolated themselves, either for mental health reasons or physical reasons. Those people they need to get out of that comfort zone and reach out whether it's by phone or learning how to use. You know, some sort of Facetime or zoom meeting trying to figure those things out. Call somebody that knows how to do it. Get yourself out of that comfort zone because you're not comfortable there. Like Do something a little different. And if you know those people Pick up the phone and make a phone call. If you see somebody post something on social media, that just kind of rubs you the that's kind of a little scary. Pick up the phone, You know, direct message them. I am them find out. Hey, are you Are you really okay? Reach out and make sure you don't know that that one phone call. Couldn't could literally save someone's life. And if you're wrong, well, you spend a little time connecting with a with an old friend, and that's never a bad thing. How tough is it, though, to overcome those patterns, Let's say people wanting to exercise right. They know they need to make the change. They talk about making the change. They make to change for about three days, and then they just never go back to it. Or when our beliefs overcome facts, whether it's a political or science or anything else. You know, we tell our kids you got it wrong And, you know certain you know, certain things that your kids don't know. And you try to talk to them and change maybe their mind on things. Why can't we do that to ourselves? Why is it so difficult for adults to kind of re assess and say, Am I wrong here? You know, that is the crux off problem rose 95% of of why people go into therapy and possibly why therapy isn't successful for people because either Their thoughts. Just they just can't make that thought change or they can't make that behavior change. That is the hardest part of any, um, any counseling session. Why is that? Well? We've got a pattern of behavior. We do something we've done it for years. We don't even realize we were doing it. We just fall back into that. And thoughts are the same way. We think a certain way we have a paradigm of something, and it becomes habit. If I told you all the sudden you have to drive to work a different way. Why? Why do I have to drive the work a different way? My way works. I don't want to change the way I work, you know, And then you would fall into driving the certainly won't anybody watching? How you gonna know if I'm driving the other way? It's a pretty simple request. Dr Toe work a different way. But we would we tend to fight it. Tooth and nail. Ah, much better. Healthier outlook is to be like all right. Well, let's give that a try. And see how that is. Maybe I'll find a better way. We both find an easier way. Maybe I'll see houses and see things that I haven't seen before. But our go to attitude is I don't want Change. And I think that's ah, inherent flaw in our our personalities as humans, which gets us into a whole lot of trouble. Well, adults don't like to learn as much as kids. Do. They observe everything we don't necessarily like to change our patterns or thoughts or sometimes believes for sure. Ducks Charles Pemberton to Mitch Family therapy. Appreciate your time. 10 away from a Kentucky.

"Fancies asymptomatic. He will coach virtually during week for Steelers but must miss the game tied and coach. Drew pet sing and Defense specs coach Jeff Howard must sit. One of the two new players who tested positive is significant. As we wait from who that is. I mean, you can kind of gas, right? If one of the wide receivers is missing. The egg. Imagine It's like drivers, Landry. I mean, what a one an absolute Nightmare for the NFL. Am for the Cleveland Browns. Life ain't fair. I say it a lot. It's one of those sort of cornerstones of things that I that I believe and I talk about it doesn't mean you have to enjoy that fact. Because it is It is awful. Mr Boggis. Normally it's not. It's joyous. We bring young because you know your human like talking to you. But this is just one of Bomber, dude. Yeah, I mean, and you throw in the context of the Browns back in the playoffs for the first time and what 18 years and now this is going down. I do want to say one thing strangely and defense, maybe of the league. Cause you brought up the Ravens comparison and whether it's right or wrong. I think their rationale then was they didn't feel that they had the outbreak under control with the Ravens, which is why they couldn't let them go play games. Other teams have played because they thought that The X amount of people that had it were then separate and there was going to Nome or spread. So I think that's why that rape and whether that's right or wrong, scientifically or whatever remains to be seen. Or maybe we'll never know. But that was there. That was their point. Then, which is why the Ravens have been different is because they were afraid of people. I think they thought the Ravens were still spreading the virus. Therefore couldn't play football games. Well, two points one You're much more trusting to the NFL tells us the truth. And I am I would sure strongly that butt into I don't think the comparison is too. What happened previously. But the point is that there are certain organizations that have more value the National Football League and they would bend over backwards to ensure if they can they completely feel the team, including the head coach for some teams. And not others, and so I go back to when I said in response to that gentleman. If it were the chief's against the Ravens have ever the Chiefs that were in jeopardy. There is no way they would allow Andy Reid to miss the game. I think they were pushing him back to Monday or Tuesday. We'll find out We're going to find out what they do with the brat. Nothing is off the table in 2000 and God. I hate to say this kind of say the continuation of 2020 Do I have to say Dr Toe just married 2021? No, I don't think anything's off the table for what for what could happen here? And you know the Browns. Now this is I think the third straight week where they've had a positive test, and they thought that last week's was its own were three or four separate people getting sick from outsiders, which is why they think they missed a day or two. But they played and they pursued like normal. But now there's this. So now you have to wonder like Are they somehow? Not following protocols? And that's why this thing is still in the building on a person. Not that you would punish them. But like if this is them being lazy or whatever, like then do they deserve any sympathy from anybody know is now on the table. I mean, you're right. But I just gotta be cautious because we don't All of that is in the range of possibility. Bad behavior and rotten luck. We just We just don't know. And If it's Baker Mayfield. It's not. It's not. It's bigger made. There's no indication is Baker Mayfield is any issue, but let's just say the baker Mayfield had or did test positive. Are you telling me by that same logic is like, sorry. Too bad you're playing on Sunday with your backup. Maybe that's the right call. But that is a forfeit that and you know what? I know That's a forfeit for the Cleveland Browns. Yeah, You're right. Yeah, it's theoretically they can't win with without Baker Mayfield. Yes, but I think the NFL will make them play without whomever is now in this And my point is, they wouldn't do that. If her Patrick Mom's there's zero chance and I get the NFL's the business. But I do. I do think there's some logic to the concerns off of these poor, frantic and frail Browns fans long suffering Browns fans. You're not gonna be treated the same way and I understand the counter argument. Too bad. Your masks on do everything your power not to let this this virus Transmit itself from from one guy to another. In this same exact situation, the same calendar set up They would have. They'd have to let Paget Mahomes miss this game. There were rules called over that they wouldn't They wouldn't. But they're good, but they're rules. No for 10 days away. This is not the big 10. They're not gonna change the rules on the fly and Tennessee six Thursday or Friday. There's zero chance that they would make Patrick they would allow petrol bombs miss a game and the NFL's already had conversations about pushing suitable back that they had to They would fill the only I would be to push back the entire world. I'm not really a June argue with you about it. I'm not. But I'm telling you, Patrick Mahomes would playing in a pro football game They would bend over backwards there. I'm just telling you, I just don't think I'm going to. But what would they do, though? How they make that happen? They would push games back to whatever degree they had to. Or they would smudge the actual data or the reporting. You think the National Football League will act in the best interests of its players and the truth? It sounds like I don't I don't. I think caution saga over the last 20 years has shown us that I think they're greeted shown us that I think they would straddle that line. They would push back and lead to someone. You know. Mahomes tested positive two days ago. I think there's what I think the answer question, Andrew. They would do whatever it took. I think that whatever took or whatever they took, because they because they are all those things you just laid out, But at some point they'd go. We can't do this and not get destroyed for doing it. On a Tuesday. If Mahomes test positive they would leak through some friendly reporter. You know, you would see. I don't disparage a reporter Bill Ryder would report Battered Mahomes tested positive for covert 19. The test was administered on Sunday after the game his his they believe his infection period began. Then he's able to play on Wednesday. We're going to figure it out. Whatever dude like they're not honest, they wouldn't operate in a way. That's I don't know, disparage the NFL based on a hypothetical but Mahomes is playing in that game. He is. This is a business you're out of the big 10..

I watched it again today just to be safe. I didn't get all of the hate on the last year. I I didn't like that was one of I. Don't get me wrong. Space Vegas we dissect that and and rip that apart all day every was essentially worthless Klis plot point at the end of the for having which one the whole Canton Base Vegas. Yeah what what what. What would have redeemed that is? If that's what were they would have brought in Landau. Sure like okay that would have been redemption for that. I was I was I was hoping that Landau was the person that they were meeting up. Help with yeah. You're watching any other movie where there's like a a pointless piece was that there was no reason for that scene. What sort of a million times? Where that happens in a lot of movies it's going to happen in star wars plots you know? It wasn't just one scene. It was an entire twenty minutes. Yeah honesty beef was molly beef. was there in those stupid go-carts for like three hours right. And then they crash like they're like fifty-seven par sex out in the FREAKING freaking in the sand desert or in the salt as the little skinny one like go karts and then and then fan favorites go-carts and then that was the best never heard of Sky Music. It's what plays in a child's mind when they get extra Mozzarella sticks you know. And then they crash at the end and then fin puts the rose on a door and takes him like ten seconds to run back to the to the foresee I see. I like inaccurate. Heck Lincoln my ass tonight. There's actually a significant driving for an hour. Sigmatic Agneta time. I think one thing that happened to the original trilogy. It was great movies but we now live. They were not perfect. I will well you right the Up Back on their well okay. Maybe they weren't perfect but they were magical enough or they got a ninety ninety nine in bed and you're bitching about her hammer toe. That's what you're exactly I was. I'm totally boomerang in it like me like so jet and I got ruined for me. A couple years down the road finding out that was supposed to be on cacique like they were supposed to be. Woody's Oh yeah and they've got turned into teddybears. 'cause is that sells toys. Well that's what I was getting at is so that there's originally trilogy that was accessible for everybody. But Dan key demographics pop up in focus groups and figuring out merchandising in diving and we have to add this because with this market where all the shit happens where. It's obvious when that's a new toy. That's so now instead of making a movie UVI that we're like this is something I think everyone can enjoy. We'll leave F. bombs out. We'll add a little action and Blah Blah Blah. Now it's we have to hammer in these this age group and we have to have something for this and we have to. You know even down to the score has to be different. Changes me as much as like like I'll go to the theater. And there's a revenge of the poster awesome. I should have been prevented the jet. All right whatever so it was like it was supposed to be 'cause she walks and I'm cool. 'cause they're PARMESAN technical. Loans's should've been the colonial power walks. Little meeting cannibalistic. Bastards you know. Let's be stormtroopers. Let's see if I could just throw something in you know I. I liked the walks back then. Adventure was love. That thank you for ruining it for me guys are I. I think they did with the stormtroopers Gidell's helmet slander them Danamon. Like I didn't know that I was supposed to hate the walks until the internet. It came around sure. Sorry I never had a problem with the e walks in and then My space comes around and all the message groups and all this and that I hate to walk the walk. I didn't know that there was hate for Seattle. Still don't hate him. 'cause it's fiction and they take that and I think this guy and I think this gets into all the talk about the new trilogy.

"This is the drive with Leigh Matthews. good afternoon to you good evening that is glad that you are joining me and drive at home with leigh matthews hand the drive on newsradio one thousand k._t. okay let's reset the scene of a couple of the things we've already hit on maybe you want to chime in on them eight four zero one thousand leigh matthews k._t. okay dot com we talked about the train delays that are going to be a thing of the past starting july one corporation commission says that the law that was passed cam be enforced and that fines or they'll be thousand dollar find any train who delays you longer than ten minutes just like traffic court the train operators will be able to appeal and go to those court hearings and appeal the citation i believe different police entities whether they be state police local police or sheriffs can write the citations and everybody's still talking about how are they going to enforce it well i don't think there'll be any problem from an angry motorist who sitting there at the corner of douglas and whatever where the railroad track crosses and they've been waiting ten minutes fifteen minutes for the train to do what it's going to do so we'll see i this is one of those things where i've always been a little if because i i give the railroads the benefit of the doubt because there have been railroads in the united states and oklahoma longer than there've been roads which is why they always get the right of way veve owned the property upon which their tracks are laid longer than anybody else's owned anything longer than there've been the municipalities here in oklahoma That said. it's not very good p._r. work for the railroad to go out of its way to block traffic is specially when we're talking about a town like miguel that's completely bisected by the railroad tracks and some of these trains are so long a stalled train can literally bisect to the town for fifteen twenty thirty minutes no emergency vehicles can pass no nothing now should the municipalities work to build underpasses i think so edmund has but okay we'll see this is one of those we'll see how it works out i'm doing the same thing with the streetcars i'll see how it works out i'm against the streetcars because they can't move i'm against the streetcars because i've never known a municipality our size where they have made money or at least paid for themselves lovely wife has been vocally against me in this whole thing i like cars are going to be great she works in midtown and wanted the idea of being able to hop on the street car in midtown and go downtown to get lunch She, she tried it the other day. Quickly figured out. She probably could've walked faster. Stay will go very fast. No, I know. Was it fun? Yeah. It was kind of fun. Okay. Well, if it was fun. Maybe there's the draw right there. But. now will tourists use them probably in your tourist you're in town you're staying at the hampton and you wanna get to the cock senator watch a basketball game and then you want to go i don't know to midtown to packard's and get something to eat and then go back to your hotel or you could do all that conceivably on the streetcar Not if you stay out too late 'cause they quit running after certain. So anyway. i remember in washington d._c. when lovely wife and i were in washington d._c. we elected to get around using their metro and it's a splendid metro get you anywhere you want to go in the city everybody complains about having to walk around d._c. in the heat if you want to see the washington monument the supreme core they have you can see all of that with the metro it'll get you there so you don't have to necessarily walk that whole thing right okay great then it came time for us to fly out we had a five a._m. flight out of reagan we went to catch the metro and it does run at five a._m. on saturdays and sundays it doesn't start till nine so cabbie Get us to the Reagan. as i can and the nickel plate now's in your city that mayor de blasio who is running for president has been doing that in new york city subway system he's been well shutting down real so boy stations from two to seven in the morning to save money to save money in the city that doesn't sleep has got exactly industry of people get off ally lord yes in the fact that you can get a pizza at four a._m. fresh exactly exactly delivered delivered the blasios not going to be president in the toilet is not going to be married for much longer he's gone what else they're doing in the subway defecating from what i heard yes they're doing that using it as a toilet anyway so we got into all that on newsradio one thousand k._t. okay we talked a little bit about the texas officer was shot with a crossbow and touched on ham radio operators which they had their big field day this past weekend and i and admire and like amateur radio operators i i was very close to becoming one myself and the reason i did not become one and have not sense is i guess i was fifteen when i took my tests to get my f._c._c. third class license something that doesn't exist anymore but once i got that and once they started doing this professionally I'll go home and talk on the radio anymore. I'm just been doing it all day. well they do a good job of keeping people informed when power because they do oh indeed they do and i like to think i do too right here doing this job so nothing against amateur radio i love him And it always looks like a lot of fun. But I just don't need another hobby. Definitely. i like to shoot guns and i've had several people reach out to me to come and shoot in their tournaments and that's just one thing i'm not gonna turn this into a job it is a hobby right now that i do when i like it on the on the terms that i like i don't wanna have to start oh gotta go train for that Trained for that. that shooting match this weekend oh sorry honey i know it's your birthday but i imagine i gotta shoots are no no no no no no so After a while you just got to pick your priorities and. eight thousand matthews k._t. okay dot com we talked about immigration which we're gonna get into again in just a minute the president was supposed to have a big round up this weekend it kinda petered out i think and this is my theory i think the president brought this up because it was trying to get pelosi's attention this is how the president gets your attention i want to buy some property in your town okay mr trump what he wanted but i wanna buy this block while no you can't have the whole block all okay i want the whole block if i don't if i can't get the whole block i'll buy the whole town oh adam no wait wait let's just talk about how about you buy this building okay i'll buy that building and yeah that's the building i wanted anyway and that's what he does he gets your attention And I think when he said, there's going to be millions rounded up this this weekend. and then on saturday he announced the towns that they were going to be rounded up in and you know what towns the word they were chicago new york by ami san francisco all these alleged sanctuary cities Believe you me. The San Francisco got Nancy, Pelosi's attention. and so she responded by saying oh we can't do this this is immoral about believable blah and so he said okay okay at least this is what i think will happen we're gonna call it off But you better get your little California, but back into the congress and make some reform laws now or I will. at least that's what i think happened i'll check with our correspondent michael bauer who's joining us in a little while on newsradio one thousand k._t. okay bill very prominent caller called and said you know the the for not deporting a illegal immigrant because you don't want to separate him from his family is like saying i'm not gonna lock up this criminal because that would separate him from his family and this is the exact same thing and using the same logic on abortion in some of these new york laws and virginia what does the other member there's other states that have passed laws that said yeah you can abort up until the time of birth That's like saying it's like saying we're going to start. Invoking retroactive abortion, okay? You have your kid to three years. You know this isn't a kid I wanted can. I kill him. I mean, that's really the same logic. Yeah, I know my kids three years old, but he's screams a lot and he keeps me up. I don't want this can I count them? well it's your body it's your life you should be able to do what you can't would you want with it right i mean that's the same the same reasoning and no i'm not serious i'm being hyperbolic word of the day hyperbolic of or relating to hyperbole making extended comparisons bordering on the absurd sometimes some countries and some companies are working to lessen their output of pollution plastic either by imposing a charge of a few cents per bag or by banning them altogether we're talking about grocery store plastic bags one grocery store in canada has found a unique way to try to get people to stop using the plastic bags and use reusable cloth bags east market in vancouver b._c. will offer the single use plastic bags for their customers but instead of boasting the store's name or the phrase have a nice day or where prices are born not raised they display embarrassing messages like the colon care co op or into the weird adult video emporium or dr toes war wholesale they hope that it'll shame people and discourage them from using the plastic bags out of a fear of humiliation Wow. and of course they won't offer the reuse they won't you the recyclable paper bags they won't use it which i like those better anyway they're easier to carry they hold more and when you turn the corner the groceries don't roll all over your backseat They at least stay contained in the bag. You know what I mean? eugene writes when we want gold we spare no expense to dig it up and process it what makes recycling any different it can be done yeah but that's the thing eugene you can't recycle those plastic bags i don't know why you just can't doesn't stop me from putting them in the recycling ben but you're not supposed to sean writes it is about the environment or their bottom line they're moving to no longer provide packaging for what they sell to have you buy the bags from them then store and maintain them at your expense walmart saved a reported twenty eight million a year just by changing their bags sean you're right about it Although they're trying to make it a about the environment. And as young as we were in, you know, just trying to get things turned it instead he gets a pink slip. So just that's kind of that's the Redskins in a in a nutshell, though over the last twenty five years. I I really felt like mardi was going to get that team turned around really quickly. But yeah, so what what they wanted me to do the new regime that got brought it. And they wanted me to I just moved my fiance out to the west coast. We're living in Arizona doing the west coast and you know didn't even didn't even. Have a ring on her finger when we moved, and they wanted me to move to Washington and work in how they I don't know if they felt like I was ready to be on the road. I was twenty six years old. You know, maybe I wasn't you know in hindsight him. It's a grind and, you know, but they wanted me to move in house, and, and work in Washington. And I said, well, I just moved it's girl a year ago. She's now, my wife of, of sixteen years. But is there any way that I can, you know, look for something else that would keep me on the west coast and then God that how I didn't know a lot of people around the league? But I I call Jason light from is working at the patriots at the time the GM and the buccaneers now. And just calling the people that I knew, and see if they had anything open and thank God Jason. Yeah. We actually have a west coast opening being go down and talk to Scott, the elderly, and he calls back. Five minutes later. He's like, yes. Got like to bring in for an interview and when out there a couple of days later and got that job. So I didn't I didn't have to. To, to DC able to stay out in Phoenix and due west coast for the patriots. That's awesome. So what's interesting to me about that? Jim is Crimea from wrong. But the patriots typically like to hire guys with no experience. Right. They don't they almost don't want you to have worked for another organization because they want you to teach they want to teach you their ways rather than whatever was in your head from Green Bay in Washington, my off on that or is that kind of that kind of accurate. The time to exercise man that can be a challenge for all of us turns out, the effects of exercise might differ, depending on the time of the day that you perform it. So when they were looking at mice because, you know, mice love to exercise. They found that exercise performed in the morning results in an increased metabolic response with your skeletal muscles. While exercise later in the day increases energy expenditure for an extended period of time. So Richard, they still won't say if exercising if one time is better than exercising at another because they want to keep the health clubs open hall all day and all night. Right. They noted at this point, we can only conclude that the effects of the two appear to differ, and we certainly have more work to determine the potential mechanisms for the beneficial effects of exercise and training performed at these two time points. So they're eager to extend the studies, they say to identify if time exercise can be used as a treatment strategy for people with metabolic diseases. Green beer and green everything else. Cats come out here in the second half. And they've turned up the intensity here in Cumberland has made some amazing place, but just Jennifer's giving going he'd had a nice little pull up jumps out. But the rebounding trae, Scott and defense has been specially in the second half, second half scores ten to one Cincinnati. So Wichita state does not have a shot from the floor yet over nine in the second half. The pair cats are four for eight including two or three from outside the ours. But the cats they locked in. If they continue to do what their scouting report tells them to do and rotate and be unselfish and make that ball move and play off of your player of the year. Jaren Cumberland, which your hands ready. This should be a double figure leave pretty soon, and it should be a twenty point victory. Closing his game out row. Jared's on the bench for now. With three fouls. He picked up his third. Slightly less than one minute ago. Cats will throw it inbounds against full court press by Wichita state. Trayvon Scott is the trigger man throws it in for Justin. Jennifer, Haynes Jones will defend all ninety four feet. No problem. For Jennifer is. He dribbles into the front court for Cincinnati Bearcats pass it around the perimeter came broom at the left point passes top of the key for Trayvon, Scott one right hand dribble. Fakes the hand off to Jennifer passes back towards center court and Keith Williams Williams with ten left on the shock and the cats up by six volumes driving on Dexter Dennis skids to a stop passes down low for DR, a baseline jumper. Good for mama. Do mama do baby. He's a great mid range shooter. He likes that gray area on the baseline. That's a great possession. You take all thirty seconds and get points when Jaren Cumberland's on the bench cats have opened up a forty one to thirty three lead by eight after trailing by three at halftime. Hanes Jones two steps outside the three point line holding the ball in front of his waist dribbles with the left hand toward the top of the key now Dexter Dennis for. Three. Off the rim. No good. Weak side. Rebound for Jemari is burden which state will fire another three Hanes Jones. Mrs Dexter, Dennis gets an offensive rebound. Had the ball ripped out of his hands by Keith Williams. Who dribbles into the frontcourt? Bearcats have the ball with a forty one to thirty three lead. Fourteen eleven left in regulation. Jennifer passes to Scott top of the key. Now Williams behind Trayvon fires at three off the back of the iron guard with a rebound in the outlet. The Hanes Jones. Change. Jones dribbles into the front court passes for Burton three point shot. It is good. And that is the first basket from the floor in the second half, Wichita state. They were over eleven putting over six from outside the arc before Burton connected missed assignment on the defensive scouting report. Forty one thirty six Cincinnati came broom has it passes for DR toes on the three point line hands.
