Hey everyone welcome to another episode of the rachel cruze show podcast so glad that you are here and today's episode. I'm going to be interviewing dr. John's aloni on fears. All you guys it so good fear such a big part of our lives sometimes on a day-to-day basis. So we're gonna unpacked the errors and some of your money fears. And i'm also going to answer a question. I get a lot about when you should start saving for graduate school. But first we're gonna talk about money mistakes. Yes i have made some before. Of course i have because no one is perfect when it comes to money but win money. Mistakes happen to yourself or people in your life. What does that mean to show grace when those mistakes occur so recent purchase went tonight saved up for was to get a new car. Big has now that we have three kids. My suv the middle seats and hold three of the big car seats we needed. And then if you have one car see like you had to fold it dan. It was of a mess. Sounds like we needed a bucket seats. For what i really wanted was a mini van. I did. I just need something simple and easy like just the time live and i decided it's my five year car when charles goes into kindergarten. Then i'll get the great cool. Suv mom car. That's fine as fine with three little kids. And i just need a main because i can't tell you it's like the best. We went shopping for it. Found it and i was like yeah spoiler. Alert honda odyssey. Oh my gosh you take out that middle seat and you can slide the seeds back and forth like there's no folding the none back and forth there's a vacuum in it yep Dvd player of course like everything k. I like but it. It really was like a dream car for me. It really was and it was a third of the price of a big ole nice luxury. Suv's i felt great about it. They can't i'm fine. This is awesome and winston. I babies up seven and so. This is not like brag. But it's just to say hey if you work hard and do your money well for ten years you get to buy a brand new minivan like we did and it was so exciting so i take it home in. It's a monday night. It's a monday night. And i go home and i'm like this is just awesome. You pull it in. It's like it's so fun it is fun. Well the next day i get little melia into the into the minivan to go to preschool. And i'm just very excited to be in my new minivan. So i'm pulling out of the garage and i hear a crunch i mean it. Like kinda makes Throat up right now just thinking about it. I mean it's like your heart just stops and you're like oh my oh my god and i may or may not have said a few choice words praying that millions in here but i was like no no no no no no no no no so i get out of the new mini van and i might ohio and all of sudden i see across the garage just like parts are scattered and i look up and apparently like that little fin on top of cars and places. You know yeah. It's not for decoration people. There's stuff in that thing like. Gps and radio like technology is in the apparently. The garage door was not up all the way. Apparently i don't really know i don't i don't know what happened. All i know is that have been goats sliced right off and there were like wires and stocking up this group. I mean it was. It was terrible. I mean i was like no no no no no no no no no of all the dang times pulled out a garage in my entire life. Why now why today. Why not in a year. Why yesterday wide stay home. Gosh.

"If you haven't heard we have a new Ramsey personality Dr John Aloni and on you're gonna be hearing from him a whole lot more one of his two PH dis is in counseling and so Hey we kind of thought to be good to bring John on even though he's brand new with us to take some calls from you guys and your your headsets not working you can't hear John what I meant John can you hear me no Sir okay you guys just come in here and fix it whatever you gotta do we're going to get it going here it's all right we're he got it we're own do Dave I'm new and I think you know where that now it now you know the volume knob that's good okay I don't I don't switch on the side no idea where it was either so are you all right anyway Johnson whether Sinn PhD in counseling and he stressed out already because it's not an ideology though that's all right audio tech said not audio tech but so we're gonna take your calls if you guys are we thought it would be good for John to coach some of you guys on how to talk to yourself about the anxiety the fear that's out there how to talk to your family about it you might be in a leadership role we're talking about off air during the breaks on the stuff you know some stuff I'm having to do as a leader in this organization right now and you know how to talk to others yourself or others if you wanna if you wanna deal with that the phone number here if you've got questions for Dr D. this is your time the phone numbers triple eight eight two five five two two five triple eight eight two five five two two five choke John talk about anxiety reverses figure we were talking about the other day and all of your take on it so anxiety is just an alarm system right it's just the fire alarm they could go off at any moment when it smell smoke right and you often hear about folks with an anxiety disorder that that just means the alarms busted right we've all been in the building when the fire alarms going off and you can't you can't check your email they said they don't leave the billing to leave the building but it at the fire alarms going off your brain is fried there you go from the hearing fear is that's something you're experiencing right now the building you look out the window and you see flames that's for that's fear that's for real right in so I think we're seeing across the country is fears real and if you're not scared if you're not scared on that you think people overreact in you're not scared that we're all gonna die from this virus has cared about fill in the blank you know scared that you have ten kids at your house now they're supposed to be in school right then I think something wrong with you right yes I should be feeling some you should feel some thanks there you go there's some level of fear so good fear is there and then the I. keeps you from touching a hot stove it causes you to analyze and use your critical thinking skills and really lean into a situation absolutely which is what we're dealing with right now you might have a financial situation you might have a a career match right now you might have a health mess right now but in show fear in those situations are smart over correcting with fear what I've been calling hysteria and it might not be to clinically the correct term but I'm calling it hysteria which is people they're just afraid they're they're in panic mode the difference in fear and panic talk about that Dainik as the response righted screaming and yelling and running out the door and the only thing that you're going to do when you screaming yelling or not the doors trip your neighbor knocked over there lighter so they set the billing of it just panic solves nothing it solves nothing and it takes a a situation compounded makes it worse now everybody the guy who trained me in crisis counseling doctor any young used to always tell us before we went into a situation calm is contagious if you walk into a situation you're running screaming you just take everybody else's temperature up with you walk in assessed the situation slowdown bring the room down and you can make good decisions I had a was twenty two years old I was working for a guy we were building custom homes and he used that technique in a little different way if we had a customer that was irate and we shut down the office the louder they got the quieter he got that's right the louder they got the more he lowered the Aktiv in his voice of intentionally another just recommended like Chris Hogan is real quiet and calm and it just it what it does it just sucks the drama out of the air my dad was a hostage negotiator used to drive me crazy when you do that to me as a kid right I commend all freaked out and he would just bring it bring it down that's right yeah the volume down on the Aktiv down and pull straight down and then because no one makes good decisions with the panic that's right it when we're when we experience fear naturally it's wired into us we start scanning the environment for fear now we're in a world where there is no shortage of people trying to sell us fear and so it's going on our phones beeping on a wrist it's on our TV's it's on it's on every it's everywhere and it really contagious it's insane clinically cell right it's how do you turn the noise off how do you turn it down bring it down a notch and I think some of times what happens is and we were talking to our team yesterday I was describing to them the idea that the that the physiological response to fear and anger is pretty close the same things happen to your body in both cases you know you have the same your eyes dilate you have a protein endorphin release an adrenaline release your heart rate changes you know so fear and anger fuel mmhm a lot alike they are cousins are thing I think is a logical you can say that that's fair yeah and then just how we choose to name it in those situations with your what your default mechanism is not my default is anger my wife's default is fear of got a good friend of the folders figure that doesn't mean anything it doesn't mean you're a fearful person earning refers it just means that that's that's how you interpret situation that you choose to go out and if you don't stop in brief and wisdom is knowing what my default setting is catch myself before I do something and surround myself with smart people who know that's my default setting right I got a group of guys in my life you know I'm about to the world arises as to long right they know they know where I'm about to head with something and they're they're kind of ring me back yeah the phone number if you wanna talk to doctor today about these things that are going on the market place triple eight eight two five five two two five triple eight eight two five five two two five one of you is going to be the first call he ever takes in his radio career you have that opportunity right now that's like winning the sweepstakes rather I'm gonna yeah in that that I know that when you shop in most situations in my experience when the threat is real people rise up and in situations like this where the for the fear has spread to a real threat to the point that the reaction does not match the threat and you know from from the times you've done where you've been and crisis counseling with folks you been situations like that do you see that people have a tendency just the human animal has a tendency to do that I think you just said it best it's you kind of devolved your animal instincts right which is to either save all the information again stupid or all the information we're getting is the right thing or I'm gonna start buying toilet paper as they were having a mass diarrhea epidemic right I mean it's this people are responding rationally right yeah absolutely dysentery is not one of the symptoms not one of ours one of the things the things that is not what caused it but I have no idea bent and water we have been in the water system is not one of the methods that a couple weeks ago when it started working at the bottom what kind of host I don't and I just don't get it what are you doing if if there was a run on meter run vegetables admit I can go with that or a run on vitamin C. water I got a sink man I got a bath tub and we're yeah as if the public water supply was going to get tainted who knows what again is going to people's minds nothing nothing nothing good yeah nothing thoughtful again so how do you talk to your team right now your college student that has been infected by the sphere and help them have the wisdom to address the actual threat without an over reaction all default back to the thing we learned crisis counseling which is fax your friends be honest be straightforward be direct which is we've never experienced before some people are saying this some people are saying this some people are telling us to this in this house here's how we're gonna handle it right and be pretty clear I think having a plan for the next couple of weeks on here's our days are going to look like your hard we're gonna interact with each other we're gonna honor one another here's how gonna limit our screen time in the house I think there's all kinds of things we can do but you got to be intentional sings you would start a business same as you would try to have a great marriage I got.
