"It's nineteen ninety one and Bill Cosby is one of the most famous and powerful actors and entertainers in the world in November. He's on Larry. King live show. It doesn't mega and the girl would drink in low American cosby's Ashby's doing this Spanish fly routine for Larry King one which he's performed onstage since the nineteen sixties in. It cosby jokes with audience about slipping an APHRODISIAC FOR DJ. Back into a woman's drink. A drug that renders her helpless. After a couple of SIPS. You know anything about Spanish fly no Dome Ema. While there's this girl crazy Mary it would some in her drink as you go to a party. She five girls standing alone. Spanish fly like that. I didn't know anything about the Spanish fly routine back then and the media didn't pay much attention to it either At this point in his career cosby had written bestselling books about parenthood and made the world laugh with family friendly comedy routines he was a humanitarian and philanthropist who donated millions to charities and colleges alike but it was his portrayal of Dr Cliff huxtable on the Cosby show that earned him the warm and Fuzzy Moniker of America's Dad. You're funny well thank you so you see the do of us. We have something in common cosby's long long seemingly happy marriage to Camille only added luster to a picture perfect image of a devoted husband and father. There was never a hint. Not even a whisper that he wasn't who he seemed to be. But that's banished fire routine. Was there hiding in plain sight all this time cosby talking about slipping drugs into women's strengths. If we'd only known back then it wasn't just a joke

"E. n. o. t. s. and now back to the show okay an word back doc and it is time for our favorite segment whole miklos young tony danza it is time for home a close this young tony danza the segment where we recast tony danza into one of the roles in this movie janet. Would you like to though i with <hes> your oh i so tony danza i cast him as dr cliff takao ooh <music> who is pat era <hes> because i mean come on tony danza okay he's got. He's got the war that you know the dr patel even though he's his doctor you get that sense of warmth off of him. He's got that no nonsense and sort of five happening that i think tony danza dan totally do and he was comedic as well like i found dr patel to be somewhat comedic. I think he was one of the actors that i enjoyed enjoyed the most. I don't know who that gentleman. I don't know what his name is. <hes> i didn't write it down but the actor who portrayed dr dr crispy chow link i loved him to me was like one of the shining moments in the movie and you know what because hot fool the tunnel. They're an italian american family rate so tony would like. He could've brought looking italian-american five to the therapist role okay. The actor's name is a new pump care. If i'm probably in saying that incorrectly my apologies yeah other movies i know and he's just so good. He's also in the big sick. You saw that right. Oh you should okay okay. That's good. I you know what i didn't even think of that and it's such a great the such a good role for data yeah i why it went back and forth between two characters. One of them is the robert de niro character because yeah like he. It's an italian american family. He's the dad you know oh he i feel like he <hes> while tony danza like clearly comes across as one of the sweetest people in the world. I feel like he could play angry yeah so i think he would have been good in that role but ultimately i cast him as randy. Which is the friend who makes the bet with robert deniro yeah so my reasoning yeah so so exactly. Why are you saying like that because that guy was not very good right like i'm sorry to this man paul herman. I think his name is he. Just he was not very good in this role and so it'd be nice to like. Take him out and put somebody in. Who'd be better yeah yeah. I know i know he was but he doesn't like it's not outward so he appears nice nice initially right like he looks. He seems like he's as friend. He's always kind of like jovial and so you know the snake is underneath. I never liked him. I can see for sure you know what i almost did cast him in the robert deniro role salt lake it was just the hostages dr patel yeah. No that's barrett okay so <music> any <hes> last tidbits or anything before we wrap up no. I think that we covered everything on yeah. Yeah i agree i really do. I found it difficult to recast this but once i found found the people i was pretty happy with them. Okay well. If you want to follow us <hes> we are re podcasting on all the social media nia things and if you wanna email us with any suggestions or thoughts about the episode you can do that at re podcasting gmail.com or if you want to yell at us anything today contact us reprise his uh-huh dot com. "Driven off presumably to jail an incredible comedown for someone who was such a big star in the one thousand nine hundred. Yeah, I mean this really caps off a stunning downfall from Bill. Cosby? I mean, everyone remembers him on television generations of Americans as Dr cliff huxtable on the Cosby show, someone who had a very wholesome lovable personality. And so to see this image of him being led out of court in handcuffs was certainly I think a moment of disbelief for many in this country still the district attorney, Kevin Steele. What he said was interesting. He said that Bill Cosby hid his true self for decades. And what are the wider implications for the metoo movement? But it's interesting because I asked Gloria Allred one of the women's rights lawyers here about the significance of this. And she said this takes the metoo movement off the internet off a hashtag on social media and puts it front and center in the courts, Bill Cosby is, of course, the first high profile man to be sentenced for sexual assault in the metoo era. And so it really does send a powerful message to victims that if they do speak out that they will be listened to that. There is a chance at Justice, and it's a major major development major milestone refer women's rights and really victims rights in that regard Tofig outside.

"We're here. It's been a long journey to get here. And today Justice was served. It's been a long time coming, but it arrived. When a convicted felon named William H Cosby junior left the courtroom in handcuffs off the state prison for his crimes it's been a long late for our victim. Andrea Constand as it has for the other women who have endured similar sexual assaults and rapes at the hands of the defendant and has also been a long road for our prosecution team, which has worked hard to get Justice for Andrea Constand, overcoming every legal hurdle. That was thrown at us and a succession of defense attorneys along the way. For decades. The defendant has been able to hide his true self tied his crimes using his fame and fortune. He's hidden behind a character. Created Dr cliff huxtable. It was a seminal character on TV. And so was the family, but it was fiction before Bill Cosby became a convicted felon taken away in handcuffs to begin paying for his crimes people believe that. That's who he was. We know otherwise he used his acting skills and endearing TV personality to win over his victims. And then keep them silent about what he did to them. So now finally Bill Cosby has been unmasked, and we have seen the real man as.

"Welcome back to America in the morning. I'm Christopher cruise in for John trout. It's thirteen before the hour for just about anybody who watch television in the nineteen eighties. Bill Cosby was a role model before he was known as Dr cliff huxtable? He was a civil rights activist, actor and comedian. Now, he's a convicted sex offender and later today, he'll learn if he goes to prison correspondent Bob Costantini is covering the sentencing hearing for us, it would be the maximum possible. Prosecutors want Bill Cosby sent to prison for ten years district attorney Kevin Steele agreed that three counts of aggravated. Indecent assault could be merged into one sentence. Cosby was convicted in April for attacking Andrea Constand a temple university sports administrator steel claimed at the famed entertainer liked to play the part of mentor. But in fact, had other intentions right from the beginning Constand delivered a brief victim's impact statement, concluding now all I am asking for is Justice as the court sees fit lawyer Joseph green, representing Cosby did not call any character witness. And reportedly will not have caused me speak on behalf. He painted Bill. Cosby as the entertainer and activist who try to help us community, and many places beyond someone who is now too frail to hurt. Anyone else? Pennsylvania law allows judge Steven much leeway in sentencing. What amounts to a first time offender in Bill Cosby, the once revered stars lawyers want him to face probation or at the most some kind of house arrest. They argue he is frail and not a risk to be a repeat offender. Then of course, means judge O'neil must put aside the public accusations of as many as sixty women who like Andrea Constand claim Bill Cosby gave them alcohol and sedatives to put them in a state of helplessness while he sexually assaulted them. The prosecution wants a maximum of ten years, but with the conviction India's punishment decision almost certain to be appealed O'neil. Also has to weigh how he would sentence. Someone who is not Bill Cosby for the same crimes even before daylight in a misty rain. A crowd of mostly women lining up outside the courthouse. Here among them, Victoria, Valentino who says she in roommate were drugged by Bill Cosby and taken to an abandoned building near Hollywood hills in. One thousand nine hundred sixty nine after sexually assaulting them. Valentino says Cosby left them alone to find their way back to the city. Valentino calls the episode of subliminal soundtrack of her life. This is bigger.

"Probation under house arrest. You should be able to post bail. It's time for him. Facing up to thirty years in prison. Cosby's sentencing hearing began today in ABC's, Mark Remillard has more from Norristown Pennsylvania, Mark specifically, what took place today. Well, it actually moved quite swiftly. We got through the first part of testimony regarding whether or not Cosby should be labeled as a sexually violent predator, which is a separate and more severe distinction up estates sexual offenders registration law. Parts of that we got through a victim impact testimony. And that went through we heard Andrea Constand, the main accuser of Cosby only the stand for about two minutes. In fact, it was really her family issued emotional statements about the impact they say Cosby's crime pain that they've endured because of it. And then we got through arguments defense laying out their case for leniency saying that, you know, his advanced or hell are all part of their saying that that he really endured a trial, by public opinion because of the media scrutiny on the trial while the prosecution said that Cosby does has should get the sentence. He has earned that he has. Man with the mask who liked to be Dr cliff cliff huxtable on the outside, but really behind closed doors. He was taking advantage and exploiting that trusting people. So we actually had quite a day tomorrow. We'll hear some more testimony. And then we could get a a a a sentence as early possibly one side DA Kevin Steele is asking he be sentenced to five to ten years in state prison because he thinks Cosby has not shown any remorse. That's right. And that's part of that argument that he made today as a during his to judge basically saying that Cosby has not accepted that he did anything wrong. And as you mentioned there has shown no remorse for the crime and his lined up. The fact clear day that they intend to appeal this as soon as he is sentenced, and that was part of the victims statements to they said that he did everything enter mother said that he did everything to. Ruin their reputation while shielding himself. So there was a lot of volleys thrown at Cosby today in regards to the way, he's comported himself in recent years and throughout this whole process, but at five to ten years would be a more strict sentence than the sentencing guidelines shows which is about one to four, but again, a very lenient sentences. What the defense is hoping for that may be probation without jail time it may be house arrest while an appeal is going on. And so there's a lot of leeway. Here's the judge can take to determine the sentence. The tomorrow, we learned possibly the fate of eighty one year old Bill. Cosby, thank you so much, Mark. Komo news time four twenty.
