"Now, we've got a lot of ground to cover today. A tremendous show plan for you. Stick around for the entirety of the program because there's going to be something here for each and every one of you, it could be very well be a game changer as it relates to your health coming up a little bit later in this hour. We're going to introduce you to a physician cardiologists heart. Doctor who's got a very important message for all of us related to how to prevent health problems in the future. And we all wanna know that or we should want to know that and it's possible to do. And so we'll wait for that information. But before we get too far into this hour, I wanted to start out with an interesting bit of information and Darren I'm gonna have you weigh in on this because I think it's important for people to hear this. It's a little odd little different. I don't know if I agree with it or not in fact, when I posted up the preview of what we're going to be talking about here immediately got feedback from some of our Facebook, friends and people who follow my website at Dr Bob dot com. Spelling out the word Dr. Bob dot com, even Instagram and it had to do with when you walk into a business. Let's just say it's a restaurant. And there's a person that's greeting. You that's going to seat you, and they're real friendly and perky and up. Here's something that caught my attention. Darren have you ever been to a place like this where somebody walks up to you? They're very enthusiastic and almost like giddy, and you they're friendly. Boy, they're in a good mood today. Well, listen to this employees who deliver service with a smile or more likely to drink heavily because they're faking a grin, and it's draining them. Wow. Have you ever experienced in a business where you walk into a business restaurant, or whatever and the person who's greeting? You is just so up, and you go is there friendly awful friendly? Quite a bit. I see that. Yeah. Now, why would you think that that person? Who's like that? Israeli faking it. And in fact, what's going on her Neath is turmoil? And they are heavy consumers of alcohol. Would you have thought that? Hey, you're I gaze at it. Or your first thought that comes to your mind when you when you encounter a person like that, I never would have thought that I wouldn't either. Because as you know because Darren you've met my wife, she's kind of like that. Right. Right. And so she doesn't drink any day. She's a non drinker zero. So I don't know. But listen to this folks, employee's who deliver service with a smile, maybe more likely to drink heavily. That's what research suggests a study found people in public facing jobs who often force a grin or resist. And I roll are more to hit the bottle hit the booze at the end of the day. Researchers believe those who feel they have to control their emotions at work. Such as people who work in nurse nursing centers. Call centers workers in bursts does and restaurants in service, the service industry in general may let loose when they go back home because they're faking it the grin, and it drains them to fake in other words, they're acting uppity and Getty and enthusiastic and optimistic because they have to because it's their job, and they really don't want to but they forced themselves to it drains them. And therefore they have to go home and do something to release all of that tension. That's building up at the Roddy. Now, this is according to research carried out by Pennsylvania state university and the university of buffalo. So this has some reality behind it. But I never thought. And it was led by a professor of psychology at Penn State faking and suppressing emotions with customers was related to drinking beyond the stress of the job or feeling negatively. That according to this research, and one of the researchers that it wasn't just feeling badly that makes them reach for a drink. Instead. They more they have to control negative emotions which are really going on behind the smile behind the up and up and getting us emotions at work the less they're able to control their alcohol intake. Later in the day and pass studies have found a link between service workers and excessive alcohol consumption. However, the reason why this occurs was unclear. Now the relationships between surface acting and drinking of alcohol excessively after work was stronger for people who are impulsive or who lacked personal control over behavior at work. If you're impulsive or constantly told how to do your job in may be harder to reign in emotions all day. And when you get home. You don't have the self control to stop at one drink. You just keep throwing him back. Meaning in other words, instead of one glass of wine if that would be normal situation, you go to three maybe a six pack of beer few shots, whatever maybe. To numb you to get you out of that fake space. According to these researchers at Penn State university that you had to live in or act in all day long because underneath that. You didn't wanna feel that optimistic? You didn't want to feel that happy and and giddy with people there was something going on in your life. And you didn't want to express it in your boss. Your supervisor, you know, that was part of your job description to be like that. I just found this fascinating. Because I don't know if I agree with it or not. I'm sure it's it's I'm sure there are select people within our environments that are in this space. But I would've never thought this, especially, you know, knowing some people who have those kinds of personalities, you think gosh, they're just this is a perfect person for this job because they're so happy, they're so outgoing they're they're extroverts, and you wouldn't wanna put somebody who's shy and intervertebral or is not happy and doesn't exude enthusiasm and spit Seraing and all that sort of stuff, but I didn't give a thought to people in service jobs. Really having something else. Some other agenda going on that they were hiding by virtue of acting just the opposite of what could really be going on. And what they do to try to reduce that bit of stress that they apparently are undergoing in the service businesses. They have to drink heavily to sort of unwind from it. Wow. Okay. So there you have it, and you can stop writing those emails going believe that because I got an immediate just for which is what the headline without any explanation. People were sending me notes through my websites. Facebook saying what in the heck are you talking about employee drinking because they smile on the job or people in the service centers drinking to try to fake the grin. I don't agree. You know, people were already automatically on its face were not agreeing with that. So there you have it. All right coming up. We're going to introduce you to our special guests also later on I'll comment on some of the posts this last week, which a couple of them were fairly controversial related to Facebook. And if you haven't become a Facebook friend of mine yet, please do so because his last week there were some excellent information that you want to know of and commentary. It's all there become a Facebook friend. I would. On be honoured. If he became one of my friends, and you can get to it at Dr Bob dot com,.

"All right, Dr Bob margin back with you. We'll get back to our special guest longevity scientists in nutritional researcher, rob Martin and just a little bit. I want everybody to know if you're just tuning into the program, we do have a health poll question, we're asking you to give your opinion of as of January first of this year. All hospitals are required to disclose their charge prices. So here's the question. Do you believe this new requirement will help reduce healthcare costs? Yes. Or no vote on that at Dr Bob dot com. That's DO CTO are Bob dot com. When you're on the website, if you haven't done so already I encourage you to become one of my friends on Facebook that way we'll communicate with each other through the week. You'll see articles in my commentary. There's also Instagram and Twitter there as well. As a ton of articles from around the globe that we post up on a regular basis to keep. You on top of your health learning curve. All right back to our special guest. Rob Martin's he's a nutritional researcher in longevity. Scientists he's here talking with us about telomeres now. Rob there are people who are just tuning into the show. I want to circle back and briefly just give a statement of what telomeres are why they're important to our audience, and how do people know if they're telomeres have gotten shorter? Okay, as the telomeres these tips on your on your chromosomes as they get shorter it reflects the rate at which are aging, and it is a very accurate barometer. And so we want to do everything in our power to protect them, and hopefully lengthen them, and so they don't degrade and become dangerous cells. So those ob- yourselves. We spoke about look good lifestyle. Exercise stress management stresses. A big thing that beach down your telomeres, good nutrition, all the stuff exercise all of that helps it certainly helps and slowing down the the shortening process, but it doesn't reverse it. We have to go further. And that's where the nutraceutical world now has presented such great data on how we can actually grow them. We can protect them and we can. Grow these telomeres. We had actually Ed years to those tips years, and we've actually demonstrated ourselves in our own published scientific study in a peer review journal, and there are many studies now on particular nutrients, and this is our focus my colleague professor Jean Bruno from the Huntington university of health sciences, he's nutraceutical scholar, and we are constantly constantly combing, the literature to find the most valuable nutrients antioxidants fighter nutrients that are shown good clinical studies human studies to lengthen telomeres. So that that's that's our position. Well, some people, you know, they say, well, you know, I've tried nutritional supplements for the various things that I have gone on from my, you know, achey break he joints my knee problems. My skin is breaking down faster than I want. I noticed my memories going to and I've tried all these. Complements haven't worked could it be that the same people who may not be getting results or not the results that they want it could be deeper than that at a telomere level. Could that be a factor? That's something. We really predict it telling me a shortening. In impact so many things including the ability to derive benefit from healthy foods healthy. I think we lost that feed from rob Martin Darren maybe you'll get robbed back on the phone. Not sure what happened. There could be a cell phone glitch will get him back on the phone. Let me take this opportunity to let you know that coming up next hour. We're gonna have this week's installments of the product recall, the week, health, alternative, health outrage and health mystery of the week all three of those features are going to be included. Plus, we're going to squeeze into the fray the top ten best root vegetables to improve your health in general. All right. We have rob back on the phone now. Somehow some way the gremlin got in there and often college is for that. Rob. Radio. Yeah. Take away. Right. Where you were starting or lost the feed there, you have two people, and let's say to taking a brain supplement. And one of them's getting a fairly decent result. The other one's not getting any results. Could it be that the one we tested the one? That's getting a better result. They have longer telomeres than the other. I mean, we know for example in studies on twins the twins that looks younger more useful than the other has longer telomeres. And so the connection is obvious. And we know that when you start experiencing the effects of aging, whether it's an ability area or in the health area, you you you you can count on the fact that you're telling me is have degraded and you're not going to get back to your original question. You're not gonna get the same benefit from healthy things. Whether it's the food the supplements, the exercise on the rest as the telomeres degrade and turn into samba. Cells which causes more and more inflammation everywhere in your body. From your your skin your hair, your gums to the big stuff? Your brain, your cardiovascular system, you met abolish system at cetera et cetera. All right. So let's talk about how to our listeners. We're listening right now holiday lengthen their television order to protect their precious health. Okay. What we wanted to do a professor Bruno? And I we know that the multivitamin is the number one product that people take the number one supplement very percentage seventy three percent of adults and older people too even higher. So rather than asking people to you know, by different an additional supplement. We say, look, why don't you swap out your antiquated multi-vitamin for really the next generation multivitamin that that really is a cellular longevity multivitamin with fourteen ingredients and combinations of ingredients shown in human clinical studies, the latent telomeres and our product is called Telo vite. It's the thirty nine ingredients are backed by three hundred and twelve published studies this is the most scientific product and then on top of that. We we knew that it was going to help people would impact telomeres based on the studies. And we then went further, and we did our own study on middle aged and senior men and they got an after ninety days on televised. They got an overall fifty six percent increase telomeres fifty-six that Dr Bob. You're eighty years and years to your cells. Imagine how that's going to impact you in so many different. Remember telling me as are everywhere. Sound like you're taking that that brain supplementary example, just for the break. The telling me is everywhere in your body. I it's kind of fun because you take the televised and over the course of the ninety days things start to happen. You might your primary concern might be your knee pain, or whatever. But you make that other parts of your body are also operating at a high level while they're they're everywhere. They're like you said, they're everywhere in your body. All right. Let's do this. Let's come back from this break, Robin. I wanted to have you tell people how they can get a hold of televised. We'll be right back. Stay.

Opioid addiction in US: 7 in 10 say it's a very serious

"It's getting worse last year. We lost eighty thousand people to drug overdose. We've heard on this radio show, many times former Governor Chris Christie talking about the fact that four out of five opioid addictions. The US are caused by medical prescriptions. We're talking about doctors who. Give prescription drugs to people with this powerful class of drugs unnecessarily, giving it to them for back pain. Menstrual pain hangnails headaches. I mean, anything they can think about to put people on opioids not all doctors. Because most doctors understand on are trained to know that this is one of the most addictive one of the most powerful drugs, you can give a human being. And it's supposed to be reserved for end times and times, meaning somebody is dying of cancer. They're in pain. You get them out of pain by giving them something anything so that they have quality of life, and they can rest, but you don't give it to them for something else. That's not indicated that's where we have gone wrong and believe me when doctors prescribe this they know what they're doing. Everybody's blaming it on the drug companies. They are certainly imply complicit in this, and they need to be reined in for their for their promotion of these drugs and trying to fool doctors. But the buck stops at the doctor's office because the doctors he and she are writing the prescriptions that caused the problem here are the results of last week's. Health poll question will be asked should governmental oversight focus on a MD drug pushers, generating the demand demand for opiates or be the illegal drug pushers, providing the supply here are the results of those who voted on my website at Dr Bob dot com. Sixty eight percent of you chose a U MD drug pushers generating demand. That's where government oversight needs to focus meaning take their licenses away, meaning put them in jail. If they're not referring their patients out to other healthcare practitioners who can actually solve the problems, whether they know it or not illegal drug pushers that was be thirty two percent of you chose to stop the supply read than demand. Well, I thank you for participating in the poll, but you're clueless. If you chose be it's not about supply. It's about the demand you shut the demand off the supply dries up. There's no reason for the supply. Anyway, that's an oversimplification. I understand that you and I appreciate you participating. We'll be right back.

"Were huge. Thanks to you Dr Bob Martin show. Boy, do we have a lot of information to share with you today on the show as relates to health and wellness, so don't go anywhere. Because if you miss a little today, you're gonna miss a lot, and we don't want that. And also remember you can stay in touch with yours truly via my web page and Facebook and Instagram and Twitter and all of that at Dr Bob dot com. Spell out the word. Doctor DO CTO are Bob dot com. And if you're just tuning into the program, I want to let you know, we have a health poll question asking, you the question are you in favour of telemedicine where healthcare providers use computers to remotely manage patients. Yes. Or no vote on that a doctor Bob dot com. Also coming up later on the show, the top ten ways carbs can help you lose weight. And in the news anti-depression, use linked to hip fractures. If you know anybody who's taking antidepressant drugs. They ought to be listening to this conversation because they're now linked to hip fractures. We'll get into that. And other topics a little bit later in the show. All right now, we're going to turn our attention to our very special guest. To talk about a topic that you should know more about because if you do and you act upon it, you're going to benefit bite in a number of ways. His name is Dr Everett buyer is a board certified physician in anti-aging medicine. He's also a board certified clinical nutritionist, and he's a microbiologist. So as you can tell I mean, I could go on and on with his resume its pages long is very popular guest on the show. He evaluates and helps to educate people on trends that are happening in the healthcare system and avail them to new innovative treatments and techniques four which to help extricate them from a treatment or not. That helps to alleviate problems that they may be having. So if you or somebody, you know is having related issues to any kind of inflammatory condition or any kind of a health problem because this top is sort of covers the entire gamut. It almost seems too good to be true. Because when you hear about it, and you hear about the science that drives that you say to yourself, wait a minute. How can that do so much? Let just seems like it's unreasonable. How maybe if it's too good to be true. It's not true. Well in this case, it is true. And he'll explain why. And with that you all right. Let's talk about this amazing, special herb or spice. That's all over the news everywhere in every it seems nutrition and medical magazine now that was has been out there. Found recorded. In six thousand year old manuscripts. It goes back that far. And in fact, that's what's making the big name for itself now in western medicine. Now western medicine is taking a look at this spice. This very unique spice it's been used in other cultures for thousands of years now, western medicines going, wait a minute. This is this is amazing. And it's outperforming, and it has more benefits to compared to many of the things used in western medicine. Please tell our listeners what we're talking about Dr Martin, my pleasure. This is gonna be turmeric, and this is going to be turmeric. It's a herb. It's a spice as you mentioned. But it's one of the oldest firm the healthcare system in the world probably medicine and this is the Indian medicine, but also Chinese medicine. The the nice thing about this product is it is so multifaceted it does. So. Many different health benefits. It's something that you do not want to be without you need to have this on your medical shelf cabinet. All right. So let's talk about it. It's something that a lot of people have consumed. If they've ever gone into a Thai restaurant or an Indian restaurant or some Asian restaurant where they use it in the cooking process in some chefs and some people who make food at home love the spice. So let's talk about turmeric and why it is so amazing. Yes. Dr Martin tunic blocks, inflammation, the amazing thing about it. It blocks inflammation at the genetic level. So it helps to regulate and modulate inflammation. And as you know. And certainly people listening audience will probably know inflammation is what destroys cells and tissues. Now, Tim Rick is very beneficial for long term and daily use each it is mild but certain in its effects, and it has broad spectrum benefits everything Dr Martin from a heart problems to cardiovascular problems from inflammation to skim promise to even migraine headaches. So very beneficial in helping to prevent that degenerative changes this silent, hidden, inflammation, and tissue destruction. Well, a lot of people listening to this conversation would say, well, okay. Fine turmeric is great for lowering inflammation. But that's why I have my aspirin my aspirin works for that. So why do I need to even think about turmeric IT, maybe an Ivy profound tablet or in the leave some nap person? So what's the big deal with the turmeric turmeric has no side effects, and as you know, with these non steroidal anti inflammatory medications. They have lots of side effects. In fact, one of the biggest side effect is the effect upon the liver, particularly with term usage in high dosage can actually knock that live out and people have actually died from the use of non steroidal anti inflammatory medications. So it does not have that damage to the kidneys. The the other problems such as the heart attacks beating this type of thing with those non steroidal anti inflammatory medications, turmeric safe and effective for long term daily use each and it has. Multiple affects our health from preventing the inflammation to helping with skin problems to to even heart disease, and so very important for cognitive decline. And for our brain in protecting the brain cells, Dr Martin I'm awful glad that you brought up the side effect potential with these non straddle anti-inflammatory drugs. Now granted some people have benefited by them big time, but they're not supposed to be used on an ongoing basis because of the dilatory is side effects. And that's where people run into trouble. They think. Well, okay. So that aspirin made me feel good. I think I'll take more or that Motrin or that Aleve or whatever it may be made the pain go away or my stiff joints are not stiff my headache went away. I feel better. So therefore, I must need it. And they just keep taking it over and over and over again. And that's where we run into the problem with heart arrhythmias, heart attacks, increasing strokes bleeding as you pointed out liver. Kidney toxicity over time. And then suddenly. You know, the people wonder what the heck hit them when they're in the emergency room after having taking these drugs for so long. They were never designed to be taken for a long period of time. Only short time if at all, and it's a beautiful thing when you are now seeing in these medical magazines and research studies, how this herb turmeric. Is extricating people from these kinds of problems drug free, no adverse side effects, and they're able to have multiple benefits from all whole bunch of different perspectives. But I know that Dr Byer there are a lot of different turmeric products on the market when we come back from the next break. I want to talk about the difference in those products. I wanna make sure that our listeners are able to understand that they're not all created equal. Why I want you to tell us what the best is. And also what the best delivery system of that is and the active ingredient inside turmeric that actually makes it work because you know, turmeric I mean, and and can people Dr Byer just simply use a little bit of it in your cooking and get the same benefit out of it. Then if they took it in a supplemental form, so you have you know, several things to think about here during the break. And when we. Come back. Let's get into that. And then I'm gonna ask you to give us your best recommendation on turmeric, subtle tation. All.

"Evaluate patients symptoms. Diagnosed surrealness is an injuries and prescribe treatments. Are you in favor of more telemedicine in the US? Yes, or no. You can voted Dr Bob dot com. O CTO. Bob dot com. All right. Let's talk about this the United States of mostly unnecessary epidurals. Now epidurals shots where doctors will take a needle full of some anesthetic or steroid and injected into the spinal canal. Epidurals do have their place. Epidurals have been used to alleviate some of the pain associated with back pain and childbirth since nineteen forties, and it has definitely its place. But times are a change in folks. And so are the priorities of women and their doctors. Here's a new study from Stanford University examining the shifting patterns in how the painkilling procedure called epidurals is used here in the United States nearly three quarters of women in the US get an epidural during labor for God's sake. But rates vary dramatically from state to state with the least epidurals in the state of Maine and the most epidurals in the state of Nevada attempts to dull pain associated with normal and natural vaginal birth have been rather. Checkered in their history ranging from the use of chloroform to cocaine injections into the epidurals space of the spine. Now a variety of numbing agents are injected through the catheter into the space to block signalling from being transmitted between the brain and the lower half of the body and these epidermal injections are given into the lower back, sometimes alone or in combinations with other spinal aesthetics anesthetics in their analysis. These researchers looked at two and a half million plus women who had been who had given birth. And the Stanford researchers found that seventy three point one percent of patients had received an epidurals either involving just epidermal injection or the injection combined with other spinal anesthesia comparing this with Japan the country of Japan, which has one of the lowest rates of epidurals injections. Even though they have more successful bursts than we do in terms of mortality and morbidity associated with birth developed in the developed world here. It is only five point two percent of women in Japan. Get these needles in their spine to numb their lower body five point two percent. And remember how many Americans get it? Seventy three white one percent. What's wrong with this picture? Mothers were given up a Durrell's. This was the the latest information on this is about two years ago in Norway twenty six percent of women get epidurals compared to seventy three plus percent in the United States in the UK. Thirty three percent of women get epidurals. We're the leader in this area. Why is that? And yet we have one of the worse outcomes as it relates to birth mortality and more. The United States has the highest rate of maternal mortality death in the industrialized world. And yes, we have also the highest caesarian section or C-section rate and the highest epidurals injection rates as well. And you know, you hear these people who are completely ignorant saying, oh, we got the best healthcare system in the world are not well, there's some areas that we do. This eight one of them or two of them. Do you? Maybe think there's the possible relationship here. More medical intervention with the delivery of babies equals higher. Not lower death rates and injury rates. You see the connection more medical intervention the worse the outcome, but different states in the US had drastically different rates themselves, for example, Nevada. Eighty percent of women is set had epidurals in the state of Maine on the other hand. Thirty seven percent of women got epidurals moms who experience induction of labor with an epidurals are six times more likely to have C sections or caesarean sections than those who don't have either intervention, and what it boils down to is making more money with invasive medical procedures costs vary dramatically. You know, you can take a case childbirth case the average case in hospital, maybe maybe charged thirty two grand uncomplicated vaginal birth of a newborn including newborn care and ratchet. It all the way up to over fifty grand for a standard C-section and epidurals and newborn care compare that to the country a main sorry the country of Spain two thousand France, thirty five hundred Switzerland, forty five hundred Japan, forty six hundred candidates ten thousand we're up there thirty or fifty grand. So there's gold in them are ELLs. My takeaway for you, hire midwife get a Dula get somebody who's interested in having a normal natural noninvasive.

"Com. Over to Dr Bob dot com. Bob dot com and scroll down to Facebook become a friend. There was another article also on their related to refined sugars making children violent and more likely to abuse alcohol or smoke cigarettes. And energy drinks being one of the worst offenders. And a very interesting and controversial topic about how if you feed children on a regular basis, nothing but junk food in the form of candy and ice creams. They are more likely to be violent more likely to become abusive to alcohol and become alcoholics more likely to smoke cigarettes and other drugs, just by the exposure early and often to eating sugar, how many bags of Halloween junk sugar will you purchase and dispense this year was the question that I posed on that site now that talked a lot of people off because they were in that mode because Halloween is just around the corner. In fact, one of the people that responded to it that took umbrage with the concept of children eating tons of. Sugar and junk food and being more likely to be violent and abusive alcohol and tobacco one of the responders. And I value it, and I certainly encourage the responses. And I won't give her full name or name is Jonah. She responded by saying not true. She didn't believe that. There was a connection between even though these researchers went to great lengths to determine it that doesn't mean that every single child leads a lot of junk food, I e sugar and candy are going to be violent are going to be abusive of alcohol and tobacco. It just showed a higher propensity in those children who were at risk or susceptible to it through careful observation research and scientific study, but Jonah. She didn't believe it. She says not true I smoked and hated sugar. Well, basically what she was saying she didn't buy into the relationship between eating sugar and smoking cigarettes or violence or alcohol abuse, my response back to Janna went like this Janna reminding you that most tobacco that is available today in the form of cigarettes is cured with sugar. So, you know, newsflash to you you were smoking sugar. It's true. It's a true story. In any event. If you didn't have a chance to see either one of those articles you're invited to do. So in fact, become a Facebook friend, and you get this stuff because we just don't have those two articles. We just don't have enough time to even get into them further. And squeeze a lot of this in that. That's why the Facebook page exists. It's an extension of the radio show where you can keep your learning curve on health rolling hard and heavy and see things and learn about things you otherwise we'll know about which may be a game changer for you. It's all there on the Facebook page at Dr Bob dot com over my website and get to it that way when we come back. We're going to have the health whole results on whether you favor..
